The Social Political Ramifications Of Immigration
The Social Political ramifications of Immigration in America History shows that many nations have
been born due to immigration. The settlement of new colonies resulted in various cultures living
within one country. According to the U.S. Bureau of Census, more than 60 million Americans have
recent roots from other countries (Hirschman). Immigration may appear minor in the multitude of
traits that characterize nations and their people, but there is no doubt of its mass effect. Immigration is
the action of coming to live permanently in a foreign country; and its counterpart, emigration, is the
act of leaving one s own country in order to settle permanently in another. Reasons for emigration are
diverse. Some seek to escape a nation locked in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Immigration was nothing new to America. All United States citizens can claim some immigrant
experience, whether during prosperity or despair, brought by force or by choice. In the 1500 s a group
of people came to America, these were the ancestors of the many Native American cultures, which
would repopulate the area for thousands of years. They would also bring with them their traditions and
their different cultures. Then during colonial times 50,000 convicts were transported to the colonies
from English jails. Convicts weren t the only thing being dumped into the colonies, North America
was a dumping ground for religious ideas (Influence of Immigration). Of the 3.9 million people
counted, the English were the largest ethnic group. Nearly 20% were of African heritage. German,
Scottish and Irish residents were also well represented. Pilgrims in the early 1600s, arrived in search
of religious freedom. From the 17th to 19th centuries, hundreds of thousands of African slaves came
to America against their will (Ryan Holeywell). Africans had impacted southern American with
cooking from Africa. African music was also very influential. Another major wave of immigration
occurred from around 1815 to 1865. The majority of these newcomers hailed from Northern and
Western Europe.

Samuel Morse Accomplishments
Samuel Finley Breese Morse was an American painter and an inventor. After becoming a well known
portrait painter, in his middle age he contributed to the invention of a single wire telegraph system. He
was a co developer of the Morse code and helped to develop a commercial use of telegraphy.
Samuel Morse was born in Charlestown, Massachusetts, being the first child of pastor Jedidiah Morse
who was a geographer and Elisabeth Ann Finley Morse. His father was a great preacher of the
calvinist faith and strongly believed in education within a Federalist framework, alongside the
instillation of Calvinist virtues, morals, and prayers for his first son. After attending Phillips academy
in Andover, Massachusetts, Samuel Morse was then attending ... Show more content on

Samuel was then able to create a prototype of the telegraph. In 1836 others started working on the
invention. In 1838 Morse formed a partnership with fellow inventor Alfred Vail, who funded in the
invention and also helped with the dots and dashes for sending signals which is what we know as
morse code. Until 1842, when Morse gained the attention of Maine Congressman, Francis Ormand
Jonathan Smith. The same year Samuel attached two wires between two committee rooms in the
capitol and was able to send code back and forth. With the help of Smith, Samuel won $30,000 for the
demmonstration and to construct a 38 mile telegraph line between Washington D.C., Baltimore, and
Maryland. On May 24, 1844 Samuel tapped his first message which read What hath God wrought! .
Almost as soon as Morse received his patent for the telegraph in 1847, he was hit with litigious claims
from partners and rival inventors. The legal battles culminated in the U.S. Supreme Court decision O
Rielly v.s. Morse in 1854, that stated Morse had been the first to develop a workable telegraph. In
spite of the court s clear ruling, Morse received no official recognition from the U.S.

Tennessee Williams And The Great State Of Tennessee
On March 26, 1911 the human version of the great state of Tennessee was born in Columbus
Mississippi. His name was Thomas Lanier Tennessee Williams. Tennessee was one of the most
amazing playwrights of the 20th century. Although he was one of the greatest playwrights of his time
he had to endure many obstacles throughout his lifetime. He had to deal with the complicated
marriage that he had with his wife. Also his parents marriage was very strained, and caused problems
in his life as well. Tennessee s father was an alcoholic, and was often times very violent. Also as a
child Tennessee Williams almost lost his life to a very serious disease. As a result of Tennessee
Williams flaws, obstacles, and determination he went on to become one of the greatest play writers of
the 20th century.
To start with, Tennessee was born on March 26, 1911 in Columbus, Mississippi he was the second
child of his siblings. According to the New York times article (2014), Tennessee suffered from a bad
case of Diphtheria in which he almost died. This incident left Tennessee weak, and he was confined to
the house for almost a year. Tennessee s father was an alcoholic, and often times had a very bad
temper (New York Times 2014). I think that Tennessee s father drinking problem effected his life in a
big way. Tennessee often times had to move around a lot due to his father s drinking problem when he
was 16 years old he won his third prize for an essay that he wrote which was called Can a Good Wife

My Personal Favorite Communication Learning Goal Essay
Introduction
The second learning objective we have is Knowledge. Which is my personal favorite communication
learning goal. I feel like the majority of the classes i have had in the communication major has taught
me something about myself and the world around me. Knowledge means viewing our personal or
professional lives through its formalities, symbols, beliefs, assumptions and values.
Personal Experience
In 2011, I left high school flustered. I did not know were I was headed, I couldn t see in a sense I was
in complete darkness. I left St. Catherine s perplexed, because I had no clue what to do with my life. I
believe this was partially due to the classes that I took at St. Catherine s. I did not really have any
classes that I thought that stood out to me. However, I do think that in high school i did learn to be
open minded. We were always taught to ask why? And I think that it is because of this as to why I
decided to become a Communications major. If you took a look at my DARS my freshman year it
would inform you that I was a nursing major. At the time it seemed like a good idea to me because I
liked helping people. But as time passed, I came to the realization that the Nursing major was not for
me. At the time I had two friends who were Communications Majors one of them Samantha
Altamarano. Who is a close friend of mine, showed me a paper she was working on for Power and
Privilege which is taught by Damian Evans. I remember reading her paper and thinking

Challenges To The Australian Constitution
The Australian Constitution creates a highly contemporary federal structure, which means that
intergovernmental relations are very important for the system to operate effectively in which Section
51(xx) of the constitution provides shared powers to state and federal government. The
Commonwealth and states sought to achieve uniform corporate regulation from the 1960s, resulting in
the corporations law.
Today Australia s federalism is facing many challenges , including an ageing population and
intensifying global competition . No government in Australia whether it s a state or commonwealth
can respond successfully to these challenges of national prosperity and economic performance by its
own .Hence needs the intergovernmental cooperation to solve the ... Show more content on

Australia s federation falls well dumpy of the seamless is that our States have primary responsibility

the setting of regulations for mining, or food standards, as well as setting rules and regulations for

they should be thinking of Australia as a whole. And their decisions typically result in multiplicity and

Miami Marlins Case Study
Miami Marlins Although the Marlins finished in third place in the NL East last year, Miami still
finished a full 19 games out of first place. In the race for the Wild Card, the deficit was even higher.
By the end of the season, the Marlins were 26 games back. The offseason was a rather quiet one for
the Marlins. Miami seems content moving forward with its young cast of players. The Marlins only
moves were a few free agency additions to the pitching staff. Their biggest haul was the signing of
Wei Yin Chen to a five year, $80 million contract, while the Marlins also signed pitcher Edwin
Jackson, who could bounce back from bullpen duties in 2015 to earn a rotation spot. Jackson s ERA as
a starting pitcher increased each year from 2011 2014. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Unfortunately for the Phillies, they finished below the Braves last year in the NL East. Philadelphia
wasn t only last in the division, the Phillies also had the worst record in MLB at 63 99. However, the
dreadful season earned Philadelphia the first pick in this year s MLB Draft in June. The Phillies
rebuild began when they finally decided to dismantle the old core that won the World Series in 2008.
From that title team, the Phillies traded the middle infielders who began their careers with the
organization. Philadelphia traded shortstop Jimmy Rollins after the 2014 season and second baseman
Chase Utley in August of last season. Both players were traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers and
brought back a few pitching prospects. The Phillies biggest return came from trading pitcher Cole
Hamels to the Texas Rangers in an eight player deal at the deadline last year. Philadelphia sent Hamels
and reliever Jake Diekman to the Rangers for pitchers Matt Harrison and Jake Thompson, minor
league pitching prospects Jared Eickhoff and Alec Asher, catcher Jorge Alfaro and outfielder Nick
Williams. However, Harrison has battled back issues, so his castoff was merely a way for the Rangers
to get the contract off their books. As this offseason began, it was new Phillies general manager Matt
Klentak s job to continue the rebuild. Klentak s first move was trading closer Ken Giles and shortstop
Jonathan Arauz to the Houston Astros for former No. 1 overall pick Mark Appel and pitchers Thomas
Eshelman, Brett Oberholtzer, Vincent Velasquez and Harold Arauz. The Phillies deals have
replenished their farm system after years of being trade deadline buyers depleted it. While most of
their prospects continue to develop in the minor leagues, a few could contribute to the Phillies this
year. The outfield will feature two Rule 5 draft picks, Odubel Herrera and Tyler Goeddel. Goeddel

Electronic Properties Of Monolayer Tungsten Disulfide
Electronic properties of monolayer tungsten disulfide grown by chemical vapor deposition
We demonstrate large monolayer tungsten disulfide (WS2) ( 200µm) by chemical vapor deposition.
Photoluminescence (PL) and Raman spectroscopy provide insight into the structural and strain
heterogeneity of the flakes. We observe exciton quenching at grain boundaries (GBs) that originate
from the nucleation site at the center of WS2 flakes. Temperature variable transport measurements of
top gated WS2 transistors show an apparent metal to insulator transition. Variable range and thermally
activated hopping mechanisms can explain the carrier transport in the insulating phase at low and
intermediate temperatures. Devices exhibit room temperature field effect electron mobility as high as
48cm2/V.s. The mobility increases with decreasing temperature and begins to saturate at below 100°K,
possibly due to Coulomb scattering or defects. Layered two dimensional (2D) transition metal
dichalcogenides (TMDs) exhibit unique properties such as ease of energy band engineering by
adjusting the number of layers or by Van der Waals heterostructures.1 Such salient features of TMDs
make them promising for a wide range of electronic and optoelectronic applications.2 4 However, the
transformation of basic science studies into viable device technologies necessitates large area
synthesis of device quality TMDs. Significant research is ongoing to grow monolayer (ML) TMDs

Comparing Shaun Tan s The Lost Thing And The Red Brown
Shaun Tan The leading picture book author in Australia is the one and only Shaun Tan. Out of all the
authors out there it is quite obvious why you would choose Shaun Tan over Anthony Browne. Tan s
books always seem to be that little bit more engaging and for that reason, I believe that he s a much
better author than Browne. Tan s excellent use of motifs, symbolism and detail in his illustrations
throughout all of his books don t even compare to that of Browne s books. Tan s books are the type of
books that hold a much deeper meaning than many other picture books and would appeal to a much
older audience than those of Browne s. Shaun Tan s books The Lost Thing and The Red Tree are just
two examples of Tans greatest books. Tan has also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The topics in Tan s two book The Lost Thing and The Red Tree are about having a sense of belonging
and teenage depression. Tan puts his message across in his book The Red Tree by isolating the girl
from the rest of the people and objects in many illustrations and in others it can be interpreted that the
girl has excluded herself from the rest of the world. Especially on the page with the bottle, on this
page, the girl is stuck in a bottle with an old school diving helmet on symbolising that the girl is taking
too much pressure. Also the neck of the bottle is too thin to escape from as well as bottle filling with
water. In the distance, there is also a beach with a nice blue sky and clear water. On another page, the
girl is standing on a ladder with lots of planes and totem faces symbolising there is too much going on
in her life. The way Tan illustrated this image to look like a collage is very effective because it makes
the image look as if there is a lot more happening than what Tan actually illustrated. Tan s book The
Lost Thing still emphasizes another important situation in our lives. This time Tan focuses on a
belonging kind of situation or more so the people around us are to busy to notice changes and
problems in our society. In this case the lost thing is the change. Tan explains this well on the page
when the boy takes the lost thing to Pete s house. The boy said that Pete always has an opinion on
everything. Pete did tests on the lost thing but couldn t determine what it was or where it came from.
Tan puts his point across again on the beach page earlier on the book. The boy finds the lost thing in
the sand, but seems to be the only person that notices its presence. He decides to take it home and it s
seems that not even his parents take much notice of the lost thing. These two topics that Tan has
addressed are only two of many major topics in our lives that need to be

How Did The Seneca Falls Convention Fueled The Suffrage...
In July 1848 the Seneca Falls convention, the first women s rights convention in the United States, is
what sparked the Suffrage Movement. During the Seneca Falls convention women talked about the
social, civil and religious conditions that women have to deal with. The Suffrage movement is a group
of women that decided to come together and fight for the right to vote. This paper will talk about what
sparked first wave feminism and the events along the way to get where they are today. The Seneca
Falls convention was inspired by the fact that in 1840 at the Anti Slavery Convention the conference
refused to seat Lucretia Mott and other women from America because of their gender. After that

Acme Manufacturing Company Case And United Machine Workers

Introduction to the case analysis The legal aspect of every contract in business requires critical
analysis for every term in accordance to the specifics upon which both parties are involved. The
reason for analyzing such terms carefully is because it can become a crucial part in determining the
decision making when addressing any business problem. This is generally more important from the
perspective of the company management because some situations can result in high intensity and
significance for the company. Analyzing the terms of a contract will help avoid any inappropriate or

Jackson based on the grounds of insubordination which is being grieved by Mrs. Martin through the
union. The root of the problem involves a situation where Mrs. Martin has refused an overtime request
from Mr. Jackson, who accepted her answer as valid reason. Mr. Jackson in return asked Kyla Martin
to initial a prepared worksheet that would mention the act of her refusal of overtime. Fear of
tarnishing her records, Mrs. Martin declined to initial the worksheet. Even after Mr. Jackson
ultimately ordered her to initial the sheet, she remained defiant and refused to sign. Mr. Jackson
regarded the act as a case of disobedience to a clear order from management as an act of apparent

Wuthering Heights Essay
In Emily Bronte s novel Wuthering Heights, we are taken back to the nineteenth century by a man
named Lockwood. He is being told the story of his landlord, Heathcliff, and how he became the man
that he is and what he has been through. We learn that Heathcliff was adopted by Mr. Earnshaw on a
trip to Liverpool and was brought back to Wuthering Heights to his new family, a mother, a brother,
and a sister. Upon arrival he was not greeted with any respect and or love. The Earnshaw s had more
love for the dirt on the bottoms of their shoes than they had for Heathcliff. Throughout Heathcliff s

also influence how they will nurture other people, in this case Cathy.
The first place in Wuthering Heights that we see Heathcliff has fallen victim to the nurture category in
nature vs. nurture is when Heathcliff is brought home to Wuthering Heights and is introduced to the
family in Chapter Four. When Nelly is describing Heathcliff on his arrival to Wuthering heights, she
describes him as a dirty, ragged, black haired child and when Nelly talks about Mrs. Earnshaw s
reaction she says that she was ready to fling it out of doors (37). They referred to this child as an it on
arrival. Throughout the page, Nelly still refers to Heathcliff as an it: Mr. Earnshaw told me to wash it,
and give it clean things, and let it sleep with the children (37). This had to have been degrading,
especially to a child who had lived on his own since he could remember and had no knowledge of any
family whatsoever. Mrs. Earnshaw even goes to take it a step further and refer to Heathcliff as a gypsy
brat and asks why Mr. Earnshaw would dare to bring home such a child when they had their own
bairns to feed and fend for (37). Growing up in this environment on a child, there would be no way
that the child would escape without also being as un nurturing of an individual as his family members.

Essay about The Facts of Evolution
The Facts of Evolution
A fact is something that exists beyond question. It is an actuality, an objective reality. It is established
by solid evidence. A theory is something unproved but at times assumed true for the sake of argument.
It has yet to be proved as factual. Nonetheless, sometimes something is declared to be a fact that is
only a theory.
In a September 30, 1986 article of the New York Times there was an published article by a New York
University professor, Irving Kristol. His contention is that if evolution were taught in the public
schools as the theory it is rather than as the fact it isn t, there would not be the controversy that now
rages between evolution and creationism. Kristol stated: There is also little doubt ... Show more

How did life begin? This question has stirred more speculation and ignited more debate. Yet the
controversy is not simply over evolution versus creation. Much of the conflict takes place among the
evolutionists themselves. Virtually every detail of evolution, how it happened, where it started, who or
what started it, and how long the process took is disputed.
Time magazine suggests Life did not arise under calm, benign conditions, as once assumed, but under
the hellish skies of a planet racked by volcanic eruptions and menaced by comets and asteroids. For
years evolutionists claimed that life began in a warm pool of organic soup. Some now believe that
foam in the ocean could have bred life. Undersea geysers are another proposed site of life s origin.
Some suggest that living organisms arrived on earthbound meteors or perhaps asteroids smashed into
earth and changed the atmosphere, stirring up life in the process. . Plow a big iron asteroid into earth,
and you will certainly get interesting things happening. To think also that an extraordinary being like
man emerged out of chemicals dissolved in a pool of warm water that was struck by lightening is the
real myth.
The basic unit of living things is the cell, and the basic material that makes up a cell is protein.
Evolutionists acknowledge that the probability of the right atoms and molecules falling into place to

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) is a DNA virus that affects the liver and belongs to the Hepadnaviridae group

Looking at the data provided by CDC (Department of Health and Human Services, 2011) during 2010
2011 there is an average incidence of HBV of 8 (per 10 million people) in 2010 and 6 (per 10 million
people) in 2011 (appendix C). This decrease of 2 (per 10 million people) from 2010 2011 may just be
a coincidence and further analysis of data over a larger period of time would be needed. The decrease
of 2 persons may not seem like a lot; however with continued education, vaccination, and awareness
of prevention, this could indeed signify a downward trend of acute HBV. The trend of occurrence over
the course of each year, 2010 and 2011, shows a steady increase without any major spike or deviations
(appendix A amp; B). With the transmission of HBV being mainly from drug use and exchange of
fluids between infected individuals (sexually), there is no factor that should cause a spike. Continuing
preventative measures will promote lowering the incidence of occurrence, however until a cure is
found HBV will still register a minimal number of cases a year.

Essay about Illegal Aliens and American Medicine
Illegal Aliens and American Medicine
About half of immigration into the United States is illegal, thus approximately half of the impact of
immigration on our health care system is due to illegal immigration. The influx of illegal aliens has
serious hidden medical consequences. We judge reality primarily by what we have seen. But what we
do not see can be more dangerous, more expensive, and more deadly than what is seen. What is
unseen is their free medical care that has degraded and closed some of America s finest emergency

constitution, which states, All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the

These articles support a theory that explains the illegal alien problem as part of the general
environment in which it is found. They argue that the illegal alien problem is a diverse one and not
simply a Mexico US problem and suggests that traditional immigration law enforcement strategies
encourage an ever increasing illegal alien population in the United States (Weissinger 2003).
When the Fourteenth Amendment was ratified, its purpose was to assure rights of freedom and
citizenship to newly emancipated Negro citizens. For citizenship, the person was required to submit to
complete, exclusive American jurisdiction, owing allegiance to no other nation.
How do we reclaim America s emergency departments; restore medicine s proud scientific excellence
and profitability and protect Americans against bacterial, viral, parasitic, and fungal infectious
diseases that illegal aliens carry across the borders? It has been suggested that we close America s
borders to prevent illegal entry. Deport illegal aliens. Rescind the citizenship of anchor babies.

A Good Man Is Hard To Find Essay examples
Flannery O Connor s short story collection A Good Man is Hard to Find has many elements of a
southern gothic work. Images of ancient castles with sliding panels create suspicious themes and
settings that lead the readers into the dark and gloomy world of the southern United States. With all of
the violence, horror, and dismal surroundings presented in O Connor s stories there is too a moral
message given. Later gothic work did not always explain horror like this, holding little moral value to
contrast their grotesque images (notes, November 1). O Connor s stories do include a strong moral
element, frequently in the form of religious explanations. The characters within A Good Man is Hard

Soon the family is on their way again but the grandmother forces her way by using the children.
Getting the kids exited enough to annoy their father so much that he breaks down and changes the
route and seeks out the old gothic house. We soon learn that the grandmother has made a geographical
mistake thinking Georgia for Tennessee. Her ignorance starts a chain of events which will result in all

After the car crashes we see that the grandmother is self serving. She uses gender roles ( quot;you

by the Misfit (O Connor, 21). By dismissing Christ s history the Misfit also rejects the grandmother s
self serving values.

Athletes Heart Rate Lab Report
Purpose: The purpose of this experiment is to determine whether athletes or non athletes will recover
faster in a span of 10 minutes from an increased heart rate after running one lap around the track.
Extra Research: To determine what a subject s heart rate should be after exercising, the target heart
rate zone was discovered through research. The target heart rate zone can be determined by calculating
50% 85% of the subject s maximum heart rate, which is their age subtracted from 220 BPM.
Hypothesis: If five athletes and five non athletes run one lap around the high school track, the heart
rate of the athletes will recover faster because their heart rate will resemble their resting heart rate
more after 10 minutes, in comparison to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The majority of the experiment was testing the numerical value of heart rate, so there was very little
qualitative results. However, as each participant was running they each experienced being flushed and
elevated breathing which are qualitative results.
Quantitative:
In total the average heart rate percentage change was 16.94% for athletes and 11.72% for non athletes.
They all ran the same amount, one lap around the school s track.
Analysis, Discussion, and Conclusion: The purpose of this experiment was to determine whether
athletes or non athletes would experience a high percent change in heart rate after having experienced
a raised heart rate, caused by running one lap around the high school track. The agreed upon
hypothesis was that the five subjects in the athletes category would recover faster, in comparison to
the non athlete category, due to the fact that the athletes hearts are more frequently exposed to
elevated heart rates. After examining the collected data, it was determined that the hypothesis was
refuted, given that the average percent change of the athletes was +16.94%, which is 5.22% greater
than the average percent change of non athletes, as shown in CHART #3

The Evolution Of The English Language In The 18th Century
In order to be successful, humans must constantly adapt to the perpetually changing world. This
evolution is evident in anything from a slight change in linguistics, to a major change in social order.
Language and style were changing notions of the world and of God s design in creating it. Habits of
thought that had prevailed during the medieval period now seemed to be incompatible with knowledge
derived from the experience of nature. ( Nature and Change 646). One way to examine the changes in
society that have transpired, is by analyzing literature. Authors of the middle ages, the early modern
period, and the restoration and 18th century translate the discrepancies of english linguistics, religion,
thematics, and views on women in their literature.
The English language is a complex form of communication that is constantly changing and adapting
throughout time. A major aspect that distinguishes Middle English from Modern English is called the
Great Vowel Shift. This shift was a progressive change, throughout multiple centuries, in
pronunciation that resulted in the long vowel sounds being made higher and further forward in the
mouth ( Great Vowel Shift ). Geoffrey Chaucer, of the Middle Ages, may be used as an example of
this shift. In his literature, a word such as lyf was pronounced as leef and later became the modern
word life. During the modern period many new words, between 1500 and 1650, were added to the
language ( The English Renaissance ). Despite the

The Biological Weapons Of The Field Of Biotechnology
hnology can be defined as using living organism or their components to change or create material for
specialized use. Biotechnology is a relatively new term but it has been used for centuries in a variety
of civilizations (Gossett Kähler, 2014). The field of molecular biology has drastically progressed the
field of biotechnology essentially operating on higher order of magnitude than our ancestors. With
more knowledge of genetic material and metabolic functions, scientists have been capable of
extraordinary feats from gene therapy to genomic sequencing. The advancements in biotechnology
and in other research areas has also increased the potential misuse of scientific research that could be
used to harm humanity and the world instead of help it. This concept has been dubbed dual use
research and defined to be technology that could be used for general public and combat purposes
(Rath et al., 2014). The possible usage of biological weapons (BW) has increased with growing
technology and disputes amongst nations. The use of genetic engineering has greatly opened
opportunities for specifically generated weapons to be produced. The Biological Weapons Convention
(BWC) has stopped production and storage of BW but select parties are permitted to study and
perform research on potential BW as long as it s for neutral or beneficial objectives (Biological
Weapons Convention, 2001). These conditions have inflicted major concern within the general public
and inaugurated major ethical

Industrialisation On The Structure Of The Family
The Effects of Industrialisation on the Structure of the Family
The pre industrial family was said to be an extended family consisting of three generations, the
children, parents and the grandparents. The family would all work together in the farms to help
provide for the entire families needs, children as young a 5 or 6 would have been found work to do.
However this was until the Industrial revolution when factories become the main source of work and
development. The pre industrial societies were largely based on extended kinship networks; land and
other resources were commonly owned by a range of relatives that extended well beyond the unit of
the nuclear family. It was very common for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Parsons believed that the separation of extended families caused nuclear families to be formed in order
to take advantage of the new job opportunities that had been brought about. He also argued that the
second fundamental change to the family was that they no longer needed to produce their own
materials and food as specialised agencies gradually took over and the home and workplace became
separate as people became wage earners. The state eventually took over the functions of education,
health and welfare and so consequently the nuclear family was able to specialise in child centred
functions like socialisation. Thirdly Parson also argued that the new nuclear unit provided the husband
and wife with very cleaver social roles. The man was the instrumental leader , who was responsible
for the economic welfare of the family group, and goes out and earns money, while the female was
seen as the expressive leader , primarily responsible for the socialisation of the children and the
emotional care and support of family members. Parsons concluded that only the nuclear family could
effectively provide the achievement orientation and geographically mobile workforce required by
modern societies and that there is a functional fit between the extended family and pre industrial

Durrenmatt Hero
Swiss author and dramatist, Friedrich Durrenmatt, in his play The Visit, depicts the character Alfred Ill
through the literary technique pathos as the work projects his unfortunate downfall. By portraying
Alfred Ill dynamically, Durrenmatt s purpose is to accentuate his tragic fate and highlight the qualities
he possesses similar to a tragic hero in Greek Literature. Durrenmatt creates a sympathetic feeling
towards Alfred Ill in order to alter the reader s feelings towards him even though he is fully
responsible for his own downfall.
In Act 1, the main characters of the play become known. One mentioned in the introduction, Mr.
Alfred Ill most commonly called Ill is a father and general store owner. The play takes place in a
fictional German ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alfred Ill s downfall finally plummets to the ending result and the reader s emotions are exercised
heavily. The town has finally come to the decision to murder Alfred Ill once and for all. Even family,
town officials, and Ill s closest friends turned against him. The reader feels sympathetic towards Ill
even though he is fully responsible for what he did in the past ones feels as if he does not deserve such
punishment. After days of perpetual paranoia Mr. Alfred Ill is accepting of his fate. This is a very
gloomy part in the play because the reader is still emotionally sympathetic towards Alfred Ill knowing
of his past mistake. The mayor asks Ill: Will you respect our decision concerning the acceptance of
rejection of the Claire Zachanassian Endowment? Alfred Ill responds with I respect it. Although quite
sugar coated, this means that Alfred Ill is to be put to death so the city of Gullen can accept Claire
Zachanassian s money. This quote shows the fact that Ill has accepted his unfortunate fate caused
entirely due to his own actions. The fact that Alfred Ill didn t put up a fight and merely stood in
acceptance causes the reader to feel pity. This is a solemn part for Ill and the reader. This party in the
play as a whole represents Ill at his time of death and lowest point. The reader can make the
comparison of Alfred Ill s character from the beginning of the play till the end and feel pity. As
mentioned in the introduction, Alfred Ill is

Women Should Be Legal For Combat
Women should be allowed to serve in combat roles in the military Some argue that women should not
serve in combat because; they have never served in any type of combat operations in the history of the
American military. Positions in the military have been designed specifically for women and how they
perform their duties. No evidence can be produced that women have the abilities, physical strength, or
motivation to engage in combat operations, the physical differences from their male counterparts are
so extreme; women cannot maintain the agility or psychological confidence that men are capable of
displaying during extreme combat stress. However, this thinking misses the point. History has shown
as far back as the Revolutionary War, women such as Molly Pitcher, who took up her husband s
position as an artillery gunner, after he was injured in combat. More recently during the wars in Iraq
and Afghanistan have had many women put into stressful combat situations, with very little training,
and were able to engage the enemy effectively, and in some cases displayed courageous actions that
saved lives. They were able to physically and mentally handle the combat stress equally with their
male counterparts. Several women have also recently been allowed to attend advanced combat
training, such as the U.S. Army Ranger School. Additionally, with much opposition to women serving
in combat units, the Department of Defense has recently opened all combat related positions including

Constantine the Ruler of the Roman Empire
Constantine the ruler of the Roman Empire had been surrounded by many controversies during his
reign (Cameron, 14). He was the son of a great warrior and he defeated Manutius a great ruler at Milia
Bridge. He had gained much respect and admiration among the Romans as a fair ruler. He emerged as
a ruler who supported Christianity and then became popular as a Christian ruler himself. His reign and
victory over the Roman Empire is a significant event in the history of Christian religion. With the
Edict of Milan in 313 Christianity was recognized as a religion, and the followers were free to practice
Christianity without fear. It has been argued that Constantine failed to treat different religions equally
as paganism (Cameron, 57). Constantine also sponsored churches, promoted Christians to high
government ranks, exempted taxes for the clergy. In the latter days of his rule Constantine had a
stricter approach towards Christianity and professed that there is one God, the Christian God. He
rewarded building temples into churches. He played a key role in framing important church policies
namely The Council of Arles, A.D. 314 and The Council of Nicaea, A.D. 325.
Constantine, however faced much challenges after he legalized Christianity. Christianity had been
divided into different churches and their views. Constantine is also responsible for the creation of a
universal church. Constantine presided over the First Ecumenical Council held at Nicaea to resolve the
Arian Controversy.

The Environmental Factors And Causes Of Heart Failure
Introduction
Heart failure is a chronic disease that has been affecting individuals for centuries. According to
American Heart Association 2017, heart failure occurs when heart muscles is weakened and cannot
pump enough blood to meet the body s demanding need for blood and oxygen. Heart failure can be
hereditary. However if not hereditary, there are environmental factors that can contribute to heart
failure. Heart failure can be prevented and control. In this paper, I will discuss the causes of heart
failure. I will aso discuss how heart failure can be prevented. If heart failure is not prevented, I will
also discuss how to live with heart failure.
Living with heart failure can be a challenge. However when controlled, people can live normal healthy
lives with heart failure by modifying lifestyle changes. Heart failure can be seen like a balloon. A
balloon can be filled up with so much water and or air such as a heart. A heart can be filled with so
much blood and fluid. When a balloon continuously to get filled with air, it gets bigger and bigger
until it explodes. This causes water from the balloon to go everywhere. This is like the heart. When
too much fluid goes to the heart by unnecessary means, the heart gets bigger and bigger. The heart is
only able to carry a certain amount of fluid or oxygen. The heart distributes this fluid to other parts of
the body. When the heart gets too much fluid it explodes such as the balloon the heart enlarges and has

Sexism In Sports Essay
Not long ago I went to my Parkway South Hockey game and prepared to play like I have for the past
four years. This game was no different. I knew that I would be harrassed by the other team the same
way i have been since freshman year. At this point i dread going to games because of the comments
the opposing team and their fan section yells at me. I ve learned to deal with it because of the love i
have for my sport, but it still is painful to hear in 2017. The discrimination and stereotyping of women
playing certain types of sports has become a problem much larger than anyone would think. Sexism in
sports is a minoritized mindset throughout the world; even though women are practicing the exact
same thing as men, they are still seen as a lesser player based on their gender. Sexsim is spreading like
an epidemic to countries around the world, killing many dreams of young women in the world of
sports especially. According to the organization, Women in Sport, Only 43% of girls say they have the
same choice as boys at school in sport and exercise; and amongst secondary school age children, being
sporty is still widely seen as a masculine trait. Girls are given the perception that it s not okay to be
sporty because it s a male trait. More than a single sport (hockey) has inequality between genders.
There are statistics in this research that proves that girls playing sports is looked down on. This causes
a female athlete to think negatively about herself and the choices in

Late 19th And Early 20th Century
In today s society an individual can travel to cities all over the world and experience different
technological innovations in various forms. Skyscrapers, highway systems, and suspension bridges are
all forms of innovation that, through the help of engineering and complex technological systems, can
be observed in nearly every city around the world. These technological innovations have allowed
sprawling urban environments to become the definition of a developed country, despite their infamous
reputation for loud noises, traffic, and decreased air quality. Seen and unseen forces such as
organization of labor and an expanded industry base gave rise to these urban centers through
thoughtful planning and execution. In order for great American cities to form, a technological system
must be in place. This system must incorporate a dedicated workforce that acknowledges
diversification of labor. The Lowell Mills from the late 19th and early 20th centuries represent a
system that allows economic prosperity through production (Hindle, 186). A very streamlined work
flow emanated from intangible factors such as boarding houses and management that ensured
employees worked together in tandem (Hindle, 187). This system ... Show more content on

Structures such as the Brooklyn Bridge and the Chicago Life Bridge were all products of carefully
executed plans to promote trade. This economic system was backed by both visible forces such as the
construction that went into the structures, and invisible forces such as the technologies of trade and
diversification of labor. The growth of these modern cities is no coincidence, as governmental systems
recognized that the future of a city is entirely dependent on its economic capability. This drive for
economic success has led to New York becoming the largest regional economy in the United States,
and the world s premier financial

Herodotus Alvar Nunez Cabeza De Vaca
Egyptians and Indians
(An Analysis of the way the Egyptians lived to the way the Avavares lived)
Herodotus is considered by most to have been the first Greek historian which would make him the
first European historian as well. He wrote many books in his time and History contains Observations
on Egypt. Alvar Nunez Cabeza De Vaca was one of the first Europeans to explore the American
Southwest. He wrote La Relacion that talks mostly of the few months that he spent with the Avavares.
Herodotus talks about the way the Egyptians see different animals, perform different ceremonies, and
De Vaca focuses mainly on the lifestyle of the Avavares.

The Avavares have a lot to do with religion and they base their lifestyle on the healers of the tribe. De
Vaca prayed a lot and that helped with a lot of what they were doing in the tribe. He managed to bring
one man back from the dead . From paragraph 4 of Chapter Twenty two of From La Relacion, I
removed a mat with which he was covered, and as best I could prayed to Our Lord to restore his
health, as well as that of all the others who might be in need of it, and after having made the sign of
the cross and breathed on him many times they brought his bow and presented it to me, and a basket
of ground tunas, and took me to many others who were suffering from vertigo. This is one of the many

Essay Government
According to Hobbes the need to create a form of government arises from fulfilling the need of
security. In order for government to provide this security, it is necessary for government to be able to
use its authority in any way it pleases. Locke and Mill on the other hand believe that government
should be able to provide security for its citizens, but in order to do this government does not need to
be large rather it should be limited. Thus, the question arises of how limited government should be in
order to provide security. In this case, should government be able to use its authority in any way it
pleases as Hobbes argues or should there be a limit placed on governmental power as argued by Locke
and Mill? I believe that a powerful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Hobbes believes that in order for a form of government to be created we must assign a
single person to have authority (Hobbes 175). The sovereign, once assigned has total power absolute
authority. It is only when we are willing to step out of the state of nature by giving authority to an
individual do we create a form of government. This constructs a trade off between freedom and order.
Hobbes says that in order for this trade off to be accomplished government needs to be gigantic.
Mill, on the contrary, has a view of government that is similar to that of Locke s rather than that of
Hobbes. The difference between Mill and Locke or Hobbes is that for Mill the State of Nature does
not exist, that is to say that Mill assumes that authority has already and always existed (Mill 631).
The way government should operate and how it should be run is where Hobbes, Locke and Mill differ.
Hobbes believes that basically equal makes unequal meaning that, one person should be the sovereign
and run government. Locke on the other hand believes that not a single person should be in charge of
government but rather a group. The power should be located in an institution rather than a single
person (Locke 313). For Mill on the other hand, it does not really matter who governs just how much
governing is being carried out. Hobbes believes that the ruler, in

Coppola s Use Of Cinematic Techniques In The Film Godfather
Director Francis Ford Coppola, in the film Godfather portrays the inner workings of a Mafia family.
Coppola employed various filming techniques to make the film. These techniques serve to show the
audience what is important to the Godfather and the reasoning behind actions that they do. Some
techniques include lighting, music, and camera angles. The way that he styled the film was a lot
different than the style that existed in the 1970s. Using these techniques, Coppola set the stage for a
new style of film. One of the main devices that Coppola uses is lighting. He uses the light to signify
whether or not whatever is going on in the scene is evil . When the lighting is dim, one can tell that
what is going on is most likely illegal.

  • 2. The Social Political Ramifications Of Immigration The Social Political ramifications of Immigration in America History shows that many nations have been born due to immigration. The settlement of new colonies resulted in various cultures living within one country. According to the U.S. Bureau of Census, more than 60 million Americans have recent roots from other countries (Hirschman). Immigration may appear minor in the multitude of traits that characterize nations and their people, but there is no doubt of its mass effect. Immigration is the action of coming to live permanently in a foreign country; and its counterpart, emigration, is the act of leaving one s own country in order to settle permanently in another. Reasons for emigration are diverse. Some seek to escape a nation locked in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... You need variety to be a successful and functioning society. Immigration was nothing new to America. All United States citizens can claim some immigrant experience, whether during prosperity or despair, brought by force or by choice. In the 1500 s a group of people came to America, these were the ancestors of the many Native American cultures, which would repopulate the area for thousands of years. They would also bring with them their traditions and their different cultures. Then during colonial times 50,000 convicts were transported to the colonies from English jails. Convicts weren t the only thing being dumped into the colonies, North America was a dumping ground for religious ideas (Influence of Immigration). Of the 3.9 million people counted, the English were the largest ethnic group. Nearly 20% were of African heritage. German, Scottish and Irish residents were also well represented. Pilgrims in the early 1600s, arrived in search of religious freedom. From the 17th to 19th centuries, hundreds of thousands of African slaves came to America against their will (Ryan Holeywell). Africans had impacted southern American with cooking from Africa. African music was also very influential. Another major wave of immigration occurred from around 1815 to 1865. The majority of these newcomers hailed from Northern and Western Europe. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Samuel Morse Accomplishments Samuel Finley Breese Morse was an American painter and an inventor. After becoming a well known portrait painter, in his middle age he contributed to the invention of a single wire telegraph system. He was a co developer of the Morse code and helped to develop a commercial use of telegraphy. Samuel Morse was born in Charlestown, Massachusetts, being the first child of pastor Jedidiah Morse who was a geographer and Elisabeth Ann Finley Morse. His father was a great preacher of the calvinist faith and strongly believed in education within a Federalist framework, alongside the instillation of Calvinist virtues, morals, and prayers for his first son. In 1838 Morse formed a partnership with fellow inventor Alfred Vail, who funded in the invention and also helped with the dots and dashes for sending signals which is what we know as morse code. Until 1842, when Morse gained the attention of Maine Congressman, Francis Ormand Jonathan Smith. The same year Samuel attached two wires between two committee rooms in the capitol and was able to send code back and forth. With the help of Smith, Samuel won $30,000 for the demmonstration and to construct a 38 mile telegraph line between Washington D.C., Baltimore, and Maryland. On May 24, 1844 Samuel tapped his first message which read What hath God wrought! . Almost as soon as Morse received his patent for the telegraph in 1847, he was hit with litigious claims from partners and rival inventors. The legal battles culminated in the U.S. Supreme Court decision O Rielly v.s. Morse in 1854, that stated Morse had been the first to develop a workable telegraph. In spite of the court s clear ruling, Morse received no official recognition from the U.S. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Tennessee Williams And The Great State Of Tennessee On March 26, 1911 the human version of the great state of Tennessee was born in Columbus Mississippi. His name was Thomas Lanier Tennessee Williams. Tennessee was one of the most amazing playwrights of the 20th century. Although he was one of the greatest playwrights of his time he had to endure many obstacles throughout his lifetime. He had to deal with the complicated marriage that he had with his wife. Also his parents marriage was very strained, and caused problems in his life as well. Tennessee s father was an alcoholic, and was often times very violent. Also as a child Tennessee Williams almost lost his life to a very serious disease. As a result of Tennessee Williams flaws, obstacles, and determination he went on to become one of the greatest play writers of the 20th century. To start with, Tennessee was born on March 26, 1911 in Columbus, Mississippi he was the second child of his siblings. According to the New York times article (2014), Tennessee suffered from a bad case of Diphtheria in which he almost died. This incident left Tennessee weak, and he was confined to the house for almost a year. Tennessee s father was an alcoholic, and often times had a very bad temper (New York Times 2014). I think that Tennessee s father drinking problem effected his life in a big way. Tennessee often times had to move around a lot due to his father s drinking problem when he was 16 years old he won his third prize for an essay that he wrote which was called Can a Good Wife Be ... • 5. My Personal Favorite Communication Learning Goal Essay Introduction The second learning objective we have is Knowledge. Which is my personal favorite communication learning goal. I feel like the majority of the classes i have had in the communication major has taught me something about myself and the world around me. Knowledge means viewing our personal or professional lives through its formalities, symbols, beliefs, assumptions and values. Personal Experience In 2011, I left high school flustered. I did not know were I was headed, I couldn t see in a sense I was in complete darkness. I left St. Catherine s perplexed, because I had no clue what to do with my life. I believe this was partially due to the classes that I took at St. Catherine s. I did not really have any classes that I thought that stood out to me. However, I do think that in high school i did learn to be open minded. We were always taught to ask why? And I think that it is because of this as to why I decided to become a Communications major. If you took a look at my DARS my freshman year it would inform you that I was a nursing major. At the time it seemed like a good idea to me because I liked helping people. But as time passed, I came to the realization that the Nursing major was not for me. At the time I had two friends who were Communications Majors one of them Samantha Altamarano. Who is a close friend of mine, showed me a paper she was working on for Power and Privilege which is taught by Damian Evans. I remember reading her paper and thinking ... Challenges To The Australian Constitution The Australian Constitution creates a highly contemporary federal structure, which means that intergovernmental relations are very important for the system to operate effectively in which Section 51(xx) of the constitution provides shared powers to state and federal government. The Commonwealth and states sought to achieve uniform corporate regulation from the 1960s, resulting in the corporations law. Today Australia s federalism is facing many challenges , including an ageing population and intensifying global competition . In the race for the Wild Card, the deficit was even higher. By the end of the season, the Marlins were 26 games back. The offseason was a rather quiet one for the Marlins. Miami seems content moving forward with its young cast of players. The Marlins only moves were a few free agency additions to the pitching staff. Their biggest haul was the signing of Wei Yin Chen to a five year, $80 million contract, while the Marlins also signed pitcher Edwin Jackson, who could bounce back from bullpen duties in 2015 to earn a rotation spot. Unfortunately for the Phillies, they finished below the Braves last year in the NL East. Philadelphia wasn t only last in the division, the Phillies also had the worst record in MLB at 63 99. However, the dreadful season earned Philadelphia the first pick in this year s MLB Draft in June. The Phillies rebuild began when they finally decided to dismantle the old core that won the World Series in 2008. From that title team, the Phillies traded the middle infielders who began their careers with the organization. Philadelphia traded shortstop Jimmy Rollins after the 2014 season and second baseman Chase Utley in August of last season. Both players were traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers and brought back a few pitching prospects. The Phillies biggest return came from trading pitcher Cole Hamels to the Texas Rangers in an eight player deal at the deadline last year. Philadelphia sent Hamels and reliever Jake Diekman to the Rangers for pitchers Matt Harrison and Jake Thompson, minor league pitching prospects Jared Eickhoff and Alec Asher, catcher Jorge Alfaro and outfielder Nick Williams. However, Harrison has battled back issues, so his castoff was merely a way for the Rangers to get the contract off their books. As this offseason began, it was new Phillies general manager Matt Klentak s job to continue the rebuild. Klentak s first move was trading closer Ken Giles and shortstop Jonathan Arauz to the Houston Astros for former No. 1 overall pick Mark Appel and pitchers Thomas Eshelman, Brett Oberholtzer, Vincent Velasquez and Harold Arauz. The Phillies deals have replenished their farm system after years of being trade deadline buyers depleted it. While most of their prospects continue to develop in the minor leagues, a few could contribute to the Phillies this year. • 8. Electronic Properties Of Monolayer Tungsten Disulfide Electronic properties of monolayer tungsten disulfide grown by chemical vapor deposition We demonstrate large monolayer tungsten disulfide (WS2) ( 200µm) by chemical vapor deposition. Photoluminescence (PL) and Raman spectroscopy provide insight into the structural and strain heterogeneity of the flakes. We observe exciton quenching at grain boundaries (GBs) that originate from the nucleation site at the center of WS2 flakes. Temperature variable transport measurements of top gated WS2 transistors show an apparent metal to insulator transition. Variable range and thermally activated hopping mechanisms can explain the carrier transport in the insulating phase at low and intermediate temperatures. Devices exhibit room temperature field effect electron mobility as high as 48cm2/V.s. The mobility increases with decreasing temperature and begins to saturate at below 100°K, possibly due to Coulomb scattering or defects. Layered two dimensional (2D) transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) exhibit unique properties such as ease of energy band engineering by adjusting the number of layers or by Van der Waals heterostructures.1 Such salient features of TMDs make them promising for a wide range of electronic and optoelectronic applications.2 4 However, the transformation of basic science studies into viable device technologies necessitates large area synthesis of device quality TMDs. Significant research is ongoing to grow monolayer (ML) TMDs using chemical vapor deposition ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Comparing Shaun Tan s The Lost Thing And The Red Brown Shaun Tan The leading picture book author in Australia is the one and only Shaun Tan. Out of all the authors out there it is quite obvious why you would choose Shaun Tan over Anthony Browne. Tan s books always seem to be that little bit more engaging and for that reason, I believe that he s a much better author than Browne. Tan s excellent use of motifs, symbolism and detail in his illustrations throughout all of his books don t even compare to that of Browne s books. Tan s books are the type of books that hold a much deeper meaning than many other picture books and would appeal to a much older audience than those of Browne s. Shaun Tan s books The Lost Thing and The Red Tree are just two examples of Tans greatest books. Tan has also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The topics in Tan s two book The Lost Thing and The Red Tree are about having a sense of belonging and teenage depression. Tan puts his message across in his book The Red Tree by isolating the girl from the rest of the people and objects in many illustrations and in others it can be interpreted that the girl has excluded herself from the rest of the world. Especially on the page with the bottle, on this page, the girl is stuck in a bottle with an old school diving helmet on symbolising that the girl is taking too much pressure. Also the neck of the bottle is too thin to escape from as well as bottle filling with water. In the distance, there is also a beach with a nice blue sky and clear water. On another page, the girl is standing on a ladder with lots of planes and totem faces symbolising there is too much going on in her life. The way Tan illustrated this image to look like a collage is very effective because it makes the image look as if there is a lot more happening than what Tan actually illustrated. Tan s book The Lost Thing still emphasizes another important situation in our lives. This time Tan focuses on a belonging kind of situation or more so the people around us are to busy to notice changes and problems in our society. In this case the lost thing is the change. Tan explains this well on the page when the boy takes the lost thing to Pete s house. The boy said that Pete always has an opinion on everything. Pete did tests on the lost thing but couldn t determine what it was or where it came from. Tan puts his point across again on the beach page earlier on the book. The boy finds the lost thing in the sand, but seems to be the only person that notices its presence. He decides to take it home and it s seems that not even his parents take much notice of the lost thing. In July 1848 the Seneca Falls convention, the first women s rights convention in the United States, is what sparked the Suffrage Movement. The Suffrage movement is a group of women that decided to come together and fight for the right to vote. Fear of tarnishing her records, Mrs. Martin declined to initial the worksheet. Even after Mr. Jackson ultimately ordered her to initial the sheet, she remained defiant and refused to sign. We learn that Heathcliff was adopted by Mr. Earnshaw on a trip to Liverpool and was brought back to Wuthering Heights to his new family, a mother, a brother, and a sister. Upon arrival he was not greeted with any respect and or love. The Earnshaw s had more love for the dirt on the bottoms of their shoes than they had for Heathcliff. When Nelly is describing Heathcliff on his arrival to Wuthering heights, she describes him as a dirty, ragged, black haired child and when Nelly talks about Mrs. Earnshaw s reaction she says that she was ready to fling it out of doors (37). Mrs. Earnshaw even goes to take it a step further and refer to Heathcliff as a gypsy brat and asks why Mr. Earnshaw would dare to bring home such a child when they had their own bairns to feed and fend for (37). • 13. Essay about The Facts of Evolution The Facts of Evolution A fact is something that exists beyond question. It is an actuality, an objective reality. It is established by solid evidence. A theory is something unproved but at times assumed true for the sake of argument. It has yet to be proved as factual. Nonetheless, sometimes something is declared to be a fact that is only a theory. In a September 30, 1986 article of the New York Times there was an published article by a New York University professor, Irving Kristol. His contention is that if evolution were taught in the public schools as the theory it is rather than as the fact it isn t, there would not be the controversy that now rages between evolution and creationism. Kristol stated: There is also little doubt ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... How did life begin? This question has stirred more speculation and ignited more debate. Yet the controversy is not simply over evolution versus creation. Much of the conflict takes place among the evolutionists themselves. Virtually every detail of evolution, how it happened, where it started, who or what started it, and how long the process took is disputed. Time magazine suggests Life did not arise under calm, benign conditions, as once assumed, but under the hellish skies of a planet racked by volcanic eruptions and menaced by comets and asteroids. For years evolutionists claimed that life began in a warm pool of organic soup. Some now believe that foam in the ocean could have bred life. Undersea geysers are another proposed site of life s origin. Some suggest that living organisms arrived on earthbound meteors or perhaps asteroids smashed into earth and changed the atmosphere, stirring up life in the process. . Plow a big iron asteroid into earth, and you will certainly get interesting things happening. To think also that an extraordinary being like man emerged out of chemicals dissolved in a pool of warm water that was struck by lightening is the real myth. The basic unit of living things is the cell, and the basic material that makes up a cell is protein. Evolutionists acknowledge that the probability of the right atoms and molecules falling into place to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to an article in Vox Sanguines, an international journal of transfusion medicine, (Takkenberg, Weegink, Zaaijer, amp; Reesink, 2010) about 400 million people worldwide are chronically infected with HBV, and 2 billion people have serological evidence of past or present HBV infection . Looking at the data provided by CDC (Department of Health and Human Services, 2011) during 2010 2011 there is an average incidence of HBV of 8 (per 10 million people) in 2010 and 6 (per 10 million people) in 2011 (appendix C). This decrease of 2 (per 10 million people) from 2010 2011 may just be a coincidence and further analysis of data over a larger period of time would be needed. The decrease of 2 persons may not seem like a lot; however with continued education, vaccination, and awareness of prevention, this could indeed signify a downward trend of acute HBV. The trend of occurrence over the course of each year, 2010 and 2011, shows a steady increase without any major spike or deviations (appendix A amp; B). With the transmission of HBV being mainly from drug use and exchange of fluids between infected individuals (sexually), there is no factor that should cause a spike. Continuing preventative measures will promote lowering the incidence of occurrence, however until a cure is found HBV will still register a minimal number of cases a year. References Adams, M. • 21. The Evolution Of The English Language In The 18th Century In order to be successful, humans must constantly adapt to the perpetually changing world. This evolution is evident in anything from a slight change in linguistics, to a major change in social order. Language and style were changing notions of the world and of God s design in creating it. Habits of thought that had prevailed during the medieval period now seemed to be incompatible with knowledge derived from the experience of nature. ( Nature and Change 646). One way to examine the changes in society that have transpired, is by analyzing literature. Authors of the middle ages, the early modern period, and the restoration and 18th century translate the discrepancies of english linguistics, religion, thematics, and views on women in their literature. The English language is a complex form of communication that is constantly changing and adapting throughout time. A major aspect that distinguishes Middle English from Modern English is called the Great Vowel Shift. This shift was a progressive change, throughout multiple centuries, in pronunciation that resulted in the long vowel sounds being made higher and further forward in the mouth ( Great Vowel Shift ). Geoffrey Chaucer, of the Middle Ages, may be used as an example of this shift. In his literature, a word such as lyf was pronounced as leef and later became the modern word life. During the modern period many new words, between 1500 and 1650, were added to the language ( The English Renaissance ). Despite the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The field of molecular biology has drastically progressed the field of biotechnology essentially operating on higher order of magnitude than our ancestors. With more knowledge of genetic material and metabolic functions, scientists have been capable of extraordinary feats from gene therapy to genomic sequencing. The advancements in biotechnology and in other research areas has also increased the potential misuse of scientific research that could be used to harm humanity and the world instead of help it. This concept has been dubbed dual use research and defined to be technology that could be used for general public and combat purposes (Rath et al., 2014). The possible usage of biological weapons (BW) has increased with growing technology and disputes amongst nations. The use of genetic engineering has greatly opened opportunities for specifically generated weapons to be produced. Parsons believed that the separation of extended families caused nuclear families to be formed in order to take advantage of the new job opportunities that had been brought about. He also argued that the second fundamental change to the family was that they no longer needed to produce their own materials and food as specialised agencies gradually took over and the home and workplace became separate as people became wage earners. The state eventually took over the functions of education, health and welfare and so consequently the nuclear family was able to specialise in child centred functions like socialisation. Thirdly Parson also argued that the new nuclear unit provided the husband and wife with very cleaver social roles. The man was the instrumental leader , who was responsible for the economic welfare of the family group, and goes out and earns money, while the female was seen as the expressive leader , primarily responsible for the socialisation of the children and the emotional care and support of family members. Positions in the military have been designed specifically for women and how they perform their duties. No evidence can be produced that women have the abilities, physical strength, or motivation to engage in combat operations, the physical differences from their male counterparts are so extreme; women cannot maintain the agility or psychological confidence that men are capable of displaying during extreme combat stress. More recently during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have had many women put into stressful combat situations, with very little training, and were able to engage the enemy effectively, and in some cases displayed courageous actions that saved lives. He emerged as a ruler who supported Christianity and then became popular as a Christian ruler himself. His reign and victory over the Roman Empire is a significant event in the history of Christian religion. With the Edict of Milan in 313 Christianity was recognized as a religion, and the followers were free to practice Christianity without fear. It has been argued that Constantine failed to treat different religions equally as paganism (Cameron, 57). Constantine also sponsored churches, promoted Christians to high government ranks, exempted taxes for the clergy. In the latter days of his rule Constantine had a stricter approach towards Christianity and professed that there is one God, the Christian God. He rewarded building temples into churches. He played a key role in framing important church policies namely The Council of Arles, A.D. 314 and The Council of Nicaea, A.D. 325. Skyscrapers, highway systems, and suspension bridges are all forms of innovation that, through the help of engineering and complex technological systems, can be observed in nearly every city around the world. These technological innovations have allowed sprawling urban environments to become the definition of a developed country, despite their infamous reputation for loud noises, traffic, and decreased air quality.
