Name: Leah Freeman Date: 10/3/17 Chapter #:7 APUSH Chapter Summary Form 1. President/Vice
President Political Party None Term(s)/Dates in Office None
2. The main theme of Chapter 6 is Politics and Power (POL) because of the power struggle that
occurred between Great Britain and the colonies at the time of the American Revolution. The colonists
frustration with England continued with the establishment of the Navigation Acts, and other laws and
regulations that aimed at controlling colonial behavior. Mercantilism being implemented also angered
colonists because it promoted the taking away of their natural resources to benefit Great Britain.

Chapter 7 dives into the final stands against the colonists before the start of the American Revolution,
and the beginning of the war that would declare independence for the future United States. Elements
of this chapter like the organizing of colonial unity, a sense of national identity, and the strong craving
for independence can be seen all throughout history. Similar to the Stamp Act Congress, the South
organized and shared its ideas and values to prompt its seceding from the United States. The Civil
Rights Movement channels the colonists desire for independence, and demonstrated how justice can
bring so many people together.
5.
Doc #1: Protesting the Stamp Act
Historical Context: It depicts the growing tension of the colonist to British rule, specifically their
implementation of the Stamp Act that placed British debt from the French and Indian War on the
colonists.
Point of View: The point of view is from the people of the colonies who mounted rage against the
Stamp Act, but also those who sympathized with them.
Purpose: The purpose of the tea pot was to show the colonists that they were not the only ones who
felt like they were being unjustly treated, to promote colonial unity.
Audience: Its audience is the colonists who were so heated down by British policy, which gave them
hope for a better

Puerto Rico Territory
Why do so many people argue about how Puerto Rico became a territory? Several historians believe
that Puerto Rico was made a US Territory by The Foraker Act of 1900. Other historians say that The
Jones Shafroth Act of 1917 made it a US Territory. Some might also say it was World War I. This
essay will tell you about, Puerto Rico, all three things, and also which one is truly correct. Before
starting to truly explain things, let me explain how this whole thing started.
At the beginning is how Puerto Rico was discovered. Puerto Rico was found by Christopher
Columbus on his second voyage to the Americas, when he was trying to find his fort on Hispaniola
called La Navidad which was destroyed. Then Juan Ponce de Léon stumbled across Puerto Rico again
while on his search to find the mystical Fountain of Youth . Then for the next three hundred years,
Spain will rule Puerto Rico with an iron fist until 1898 when the Spanish American War broke out and
the USA got Puerto Rico for themselves. The Spanish American War was a three month war that
started on April 25, 1898 and ended on August 12, 1898. The war was started when the USS Maine
blew up on February 15, 1898 by a supposed underwater mine. The Americans blamed the Spanish
even though there is no evidence leading to that the USS Maine was blown up by an underwater mine.

House of Representatives would now have 39 representatives and 19 senators. It also gave Puerto

President choosing. But on the downside, the actual Puerto Rican citizenship started decreasing, the
reason why is because as the US citizenship started increasing, the Puerto Rican citizenship started

Themes Of Greed In Adam Mitchell s Cloud Atlas
Cloud Atlas is a book composed of six different writings from a multitude of writers such as Adam
Ewing, Cavendish, Sonmi, and Frobisher. These stories are written in a different time period but show
a lot of the same ideals and themes. There are many themes that present themselves in cloud atlas but
the one that appealed to me most was greed. Mitchell did a very good job in showing greed in each of
the chapters in a variety of different ways whether it was a minimal or large amount. In addition, the
author also related both the future and the past to the current time to show what is arguably the worst
characteristic one can have. I believe that Mitchell chose the theme of greed to show that all humans
will do nearly anything to satisfy their personal needs and wants. While reading Cloud Atlas I realized
that there is at least minimal traces of greed in each writing. The writing of Adam Ewing, Luisa Rey,
Sonmi 451, and Cavendish expressed the most greed out of the six.
The first chapter of the book opens up with Adam Ewing s journal. At first he writes about the strange
man named Dr. Goose and picking up teeth on the beach. Although Ewing was a bit skeptical of
Goose at first, it seemed that they became closer as the book progressed until a particular situation.
Later, Adam writes about when Dr. Goose and himself walked up on a whipping of a particular slave
names Autua who comes in later into the story and ends up being a very important character when
saving Adam s life.

Samurai Vs Knights Research Paper
The Samurai and the Knights may have some differences from their time, including the differnce in
armor, training, and their codes of honor. But, both the Samurai and Knights practiced to ride
horseback and become their destiny. They both would start training in childhood and eventually rank
up in about age 14 . They would also show loyality to their master or higherarchy. These warriors of
the past had some differneces in training as well. One differnce between them is in their training, The
young (samurai) warriors would study Kendo (the art of bamboo fencing) , while the knights would
practice with wooden swords. Another differnece was shown in their religion, the knights would study
Christianity while the Samurai would study Zen Buddism. The knights and Samurai would also have

But, there was major differneces as well. One difference of the Samurai is that the Samurai did not
wear armor in their right arm so they could easily draw their bow . But the knights, began to wear
complete suits of plate armor . The knights would use steel and the Samurai would use silk and iron.
This shows how much armor the Knights wore as to the Samurai. The Knights would also armor the
horses . One last difference or simularty is in their codes or rules. The Samurai as well as the Knights
took their codes so serious that if someone broke it they would deserve punishment and dishonor.
These codes would shape how the Samurai and Knights acted. But these codes had some differences
that could easily be identified. The Samurai would study a code of physical readiness and peace
known as Bushido. This code states to be loyal to your master and friends . The Knights code was a
little difference as it was called the art of chivalry. This code consist of being fare to women and to
respect the king at all times. It also states to be strong, brave, and courteous to be worthy of

The Importance Of Physical Inactivity In School
Objectives or purposes: The American College Health Association has continuously attempted to
promote physical activity (PA) in higher education settings for more than three decades. However,
significant progress in improving college student PA behaviors still remains to be seen. To date, about
two thirds of college students are classified as sedentary and/or underactive, putting them at a higher
risk level for poor health. The seemingly unstoppable propensity toward physical inactivity among
college students calls for more innovative interventions to effectively alter student PA behaviors.
Given that students spend most of their awake time studying, in classrooms, libraries and seated
activities, the project aimed to change the classroom ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To the best of our knowledge, however, few studies have aimed to change the classroom culture and
settings to facilitate the adoption of a physically active lifestyle among college students. In fact, like
that in all other educational settings, college classrooms are solely designed for academic activities
which are generally sedentary in nature. To this end, after having spent more than 10 years engaging
in such kind of academic activities, students are basically forced to embrace sedentary lifestyles.
Therefore, there is urgent need to change the classroom culture and settings to effectively promote PA
among students.
The current project is guided by the social ecological model (SEM) (see Figure 1), which has been
used widely in studies on behavioral changes (Golden Earp, 2012refs). Unlike many other models
used on the same topic, SEM illustrates the multifaceted and interactive effects of individual and
environmental factors that determine behaviors (McLeroy, Steckler, Bibeau, 1988). The SEM consists
of multiple levels of factors that may alter

Analysis Of Matthew 22 s The Kingdom Of Heaven
Why do you suppose Jesus mentions what this man was wearing? Listen to me, everything that Jesus
says and does in the New Testament is very important! Whatever the garment is that this man has on is
a social faux pas to the celebration that he has been invited to. The rest of the parable is pretty
straightforward as Jesus describes the kingdom of heaven, the kingdom of heaven is like... Remember
at the beginning of the parable, we are told that the first group that was invited to the wedding, refused
to attend. When the King heard about it, he was furious, and he sent out his armies, destroyed those
murderers, and burned up their city, Matthew 22:7 8 NKJV. The King then declared an open invitation
to everyone to attend the marriage of his son.
The parable in Matthew 22 is a profound teaching. It shows that the invitation to salvation is the same
as receiving an invitation to the wedding of the Messiah. That is why the garment that the one man
had on was such an irritation to the King. It was not so much what the man was wearing per se. It was
a heart issue! The apostle John tells us the significance of wedding garments in Revelation 19. And I
heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of
mighty thunderings saying: Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns! Let us be glad and rejoice
and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready. And
to her it was granted to be

specific with marijuana.
Introduction:
Attention: I want you to think about what comes to your mind when you hear the word marijuana and
how your thought would vary if you lived 4,000 years ago. I am sure you were not thinking about the
cannabis plant that could also produce more beneficial worldwide items such as fabric and fiber,
lighting oil, or even paper.
Thesis Statement: Today my focus will not be on the positive and negatives of the marijuana drug,

According to the 2010 National Drug Strategy Household Survey, 35.4% of the Australian population
reported using cannabis at some time in their lives, with 10.3% having used it in the last 12 months.
Even more astonishing news that was reported from this survey was that of the Australian population
that was surveyed more than 700,000 Australians used cannabis in the previous week. ( What is
Cannabis )
Transition to second main point: Now that we understand the cannabis plant and how global this plant
is, we will now narrow our attention to where marijuana comes from, let us dive into how marijuana
became such a popular drug worldwide.
2. Throughout the last ninety five years, marijuana has become the reason for governments worldwide
to spend billions of dollars in order to stop war on drugs , but many wonder how marijuana even
became so popular in global society.
a. According to criminal defense lawyer, Bruce Alan Block, he says that Marijuana was used as a
medicinal herb by the ancient Chinese, Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans for stomach ailments, cramps,
and pain. (Block)
i. Bruce then leads on to talk about how the drug marijuana was spread throughout Europe was during
war and trading with allies during the conquests in the Mediterranean.

Body Weight Training Research Paper
Body Weight Exercises For Men Bodyweight Training
Bodyweight exercises for men are ordinarily intended to build muscle. The thought is that the
exercises create solid, slender and athletic muscles.
One of the issues with bodyweight training programs is that your weight can here, and there be too
substantial or too light. Take squats for example. For a great many people, their body weight won t
give enough protection from getting a decent exercise inside a typical reiteration run. Button ups then
again regularly give us the correct inverse issue, an excess of weight so you can t play out any great
redundancies.
To get around these issues, we can utilize a couple of different systems that will oblige both quality
and weight issues. A basic approach to adding protection from these bodyweight exercises is to utilize
a weight vest. This can give in the vicinity of 5 and 10 kilograms (10 20 pounds) of additional
protection from these exercises. And also including some weight, we can likewise include some speed.

Sports Marketing and Mobile Technology Essay
Sports marketing has made its way directly to the fans. In the past, only the extremely devoted fans
would check on their teams online but now, the norm has changed. Now the devoted fans learn new
information before anyone else, and even get rewarded for it. In the article The Passion of the Fan , by
Stewart Feil, fans are being rewarded for posting about their favorite teams on social media. The
reason this is possible is because mobile apps have greatly contributed to the way fans follow their
teams. In Sports marketing and technology with the New England Patriots , by Michael Krigsman, it

those with the most points receive game tickets, team merchandise and other incentives. Teams are

Type And Topology Of Lan
Type and topology of LAN
In the early beginnings of a Local Area Network consisted of mainframe computers and terminals.
Now networks consist of front ends which interface with the network, back ends take care of requests
by clients, clients are systems or applications that request services, Servers manage the network and its
resources, routers link the two or more networks together, and switches allow multiple computers on a
network interface to communicate. These are for small locations like an office building.
A Hybrid topology can incorporate multiple topologies to give it other routes to travel. They can use a
central hub or switch using the unshielded twisted pair Ethernet cables for the Star topology. They can
have a backbone network using the Fiber Distributed Data Interface or FDDI.
They can also use the Wireless topology using access points as part of the hybrid topology. This is a
great feature for both employees and customers. The range is up to 100 meters and is fast when
needing to access applications. It uses the 2.4 and 5 GHz band. It is also cheap and cost effective.
LAN cabling
The two types that can be use are the twisted pair and fiber optical cabling. There are two types of
twisted pair cables. They are shielded and unshielded Ethernet cables. They are copper wires being
twisted around to protect from emissions and noise. They are mainly used in an internal network or

Case Study Of The Executive Management Team Of Chemco...
Question 1 A group is best defined as two or more individuals who are connected by and within social
relationships (Shaw, 1971). The executive management team of Chemco Chemicals does meet the
requirements needed to form a group as they possess the following characteristics: 1. Interdependence:
this refers to the dependence of others within the members of the group, therefore member A
influences member B, and member B influences member A and so on (Cartwright Zander, 1968). All
the above mentioned managers depend in each other to ensure the smooth running of their
departments. 2. Goals: each and every group must seek to serve a purpose of some sort. The aim to

Relationships in the workplace are based on task interdependence (Forsyth, 2010). The organizational
structure or composition of the group is the bridge between the organizational level strategies planning
as well as the staffing decisions, therefore it is important for all of the departmental directors and
managers in the case study to participate and be on the same level of understanding with the entire
group. Question 4 Maude (2011) states that interaction teams need high task cohesion to be regularly
successful, while for moderate or low interaction teams cohesion is less important to success. Again,
we have social cohesion, the degree to which members of the group get on with one another, and task
cohesion, the extent to which members cooperate to achieve the group s goals. The following factors
affect cohesion: 1. Stability Cohesion in the group exists or develops when a group for the longest
period has been with the same members. 2. Similarity Cohesion develops when group members share
the same similarities in terms of age, sex, skills and attitudes. 3. Size A cohesive group is one that is
small in size 4. Support A cohesive team tend to have managers who provide support to their group
members and encourage them to support one another. 5.

The Carbon Of Arctic Reservoirs Vulnerability Experiment
The Carbon in Arctic Reservoirs Vulnerability Experiment (CARVE) is a multi year mission
conducted by NASA to obtain detailed calculations of greenhouse gas emissions, such as carbon
dioxide and methane from thawing permafrost by probing deep into the frozen landscape of Alaska.
For the first time, NASA scientists have been accurately recording these emission sources and rates
using highly sensitive airborne sensors mounted on NASA government aircraft. NASA scientists
expect to make unprecedented accurate estimates of the extent of Arctic carbon cycling impacts to the
Arctic atmosphere and the local Alaskan ecology. The data results of this mission will help both
NASA and global scientists better understand how the estimated rate of greenhouse gas emissions
affect the rise in temperature and potential impact of Earth s future climate near and long term. The
CARVE mission goals intend to answer important questions about Earth climate change. Ultimately,
CARVE will provide an integrated set of data that will provide unprecedented experimental insights
into Arctic carbon cycling. Over the last several decades, climatologists have found that Arctic
regions, in particular, have been affected most ecologically, for overall global increased temperature
changes resulting from greenhouse gas emissions. Landscapes in the Arctic have change dramatically
over the last decade alone. As tundra has thawed earlier than seasonally normal, and Arctic ice has

identified. Romantic engagement in a troubled world, can be very dangerous as seen in this novel.
When struggling with real world problems it is best to take a realistic approach, because when your
imagination take over, it can lead to an anticipation of an unrealistic outcome. Tom s imagination
demonstrate how he see life. His use of imagination helped him shape is own idea and understanding
Jim. They hain t no RIGHT to shut him up! Turn him loose! He ain t no slave; he s as free as any
cretur that walks this earth (AOHF, Ch.42). However, there are many instances were Tom Sawyer s
imagination had led to dangerous or risky situations throughout the novel. For example, in the novel
Tom Sawyer got shot in the leg, because of his unrealistic plan that he created based off a novel he had
previously read. Another example is that Tom has some pretty intense ideas about friendship, he like
the idea that you have to swear your loyalty to your friends in blood Now, we ll start this band of
robbers and call it Tom Sawyer s Gang. Everybody that wants to join has got to take an oath, and write

Essay on Technology in the film Tron
Technology in the film Tron
Introduction
The purpose of my project is to discover how technology is represented within the film Tron. To
answer this research question, I viewed and analyzed the movie and incorporated information from the
text and various websites. While studying this film, I took into consideration factors such as images
and language used, how technology is related to society, and what symbols the creator used to convey
certain qualities of technology. In this research paper, I will begin by explaining the significance of
this project and my areas of research. I will then relay the focus of my investigation, the methods I
employed to gain my research, analyze the film, and discuss the implications of my analysis. ... Show

This description led me to believe that the outlook of technology at the time, when the Internet was
just being introduced to the public, was fear. People feared the unknown power of the new technology
of computers. Tron is a story of man battling his own creations, which represents technology as a
powerful force with destructive capabilities.
I am interested in this project because I have always liked science fiction/fantasy movies. I like to
think about the possibilities that technology holds for our future. I am also interested in how
technology influences our culture. I was in high school when this movie came out and had limited
access to computers at that time. I wasn t concerned with the impact of new computer technology
then, but remember hearing people say that machines would someday run the world. For example, I
worked for a grocery store in the 1980s and remember other employees worrying that new machines
were being developed that would replace the cashiers, and we would all be out of a job. I think this
movie would probably have a bigger impact now that computers are such a large part of our everyday
lives. Artificial intelligence is still a popular theme for science fiction movies, so people must like to
consider it a possibility. I ve read that there is a possible sequel to the movie

User Side Influences On Website Performance
Connection speed
There are many user side influences on website performance but the first user side influence on
website performance is that it s very crucial to look at its connection speed that the user is functioning
on. But now there are numerous different components in which I will need to look at to entirely clarify
how the user has an influence on how good a website does but there are also a few other reasons that
users sometimes can t actually help and simply have to put up with which will all be described in due
course. The four key user side impacts on website performance as connection speed is involved
Server Side
Bandwidth
Bandwidth is the quantity of data traffic which can be downloaded from a website per second. The
data traffic works like any usual traffic, if they are lots of vehicles on the road, it will take you a lot
longer to reach than if you were the single person driving on the road. The data traffic works alike e.g.
if they are lots of people transferring from a website all at the same time the download speed will be
much slower. Yet, if you are the only user that is copying from a website your computer s speed would
be much faster because you will be able to utilize most of the data available to download.

Summary Of Cornel West s The New Cultural Politics Of...
In Cornel West s essay, The New Cultural Politics of Difference , West describes this new cultural
politics of difference to have three challenges: intellectual, existential, and political. The new cultural
politics of difference trash the monolithic and homogeneous in the name of diversity and reject the
abstract and the universal in light of the concrete. Cornel West, through the use of the three major
historical periods (Age of Europe, America s Domination, Civil Rights Movement), explains the
importance of intervention in order to change and improve upon the mistakes of the past and reject the
false degrading stereotypes that were created during those times. Throughout his essay, Cornel West
uses examples of the battle between the people of color and White Progressives effectively because it
allows the readers to understand that for changes to be made one must be simultaneously be in the
group challenging the system and in the system itself in order for social reforms to occur within the
society they live in. According to Cornel West, the new cultural politics of difference faces three basic
challenges intellectual, existential, and political (West 3). The intellectual challenge begins with the
Age of Europe and continues through modern day society. The ambiguous legacies of the European
Age, American preeminence, and decolonization continue to haunt our postmodern moment as we
come to terms with both the European, American, Japanese, Soviet, and Third World crimes

Examples Of Deception In The Open Window
Deception
Have you ever been tricked or deceived by someone? I have brought up this question to tell you in
detail about the story The Open Window where a person is deceived. The overarching question is was
the deception a harmless prank or mean spirited actions by the niece? There are different perceptions
from multiple characters. This short story is very popular and can be viewed as a story within a story.
I do not think that the story could happen without the deception of the niece because that is what the
story is based around. It s the central theme. Some examples from the story are when she is talking
about the window and why the window is kept open. Also, another example from the story where the
niece shows deception is when she

The Theme Of Wealth In The Lesson By Toni Cade Bambara
The biggest theme I found in The Lesson by Toni Cade Bambara was poverty and wealth. Throughout
the story it is clear that Sylvia and the rest of the kids and their families are poor, living in what seems
to be the ghetto. Miss Moore is a young educated black women who tries to show the Sylvia and the
children that they, being part of a disadvantaged group, need to think about the distribution of wealth
in the United States. Sylvia is mostly angry throughout the whole story. Sylvia towards the beginning
and middle of the story doesn t enjoy Miss Moore and her trip ideas. This is due to the fact that it is
summertime and schools out so Sylvia thinks they shouldn t be learning anything. However, once they

What Is The Mood Of Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening
Vitoria Poejo
Although the destination after one s journey is a great achievement, many tend to overlook the
amazing things one passes while on their journey. Robert Frost shows the beauty of the extraordinary
things they pass in his poem, Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening. In the poem, the speaker is
traveling in the woods on a dark snowy night. He soon comes to a stop to take in the nature around
him. The speaker is so enthralled by the falling snow, that he forgets that he must continue on his
journey. By using visual imagery, formal diction and repetition the poet shows that one should not
overlook the little things during their journey.

Brian s Three Survival Strategies
Have you ever crashed in the wilderness and had to survive all alone? Well a boy named Brian did.
That 13 year old boy survived because of these three survival strategies. The three strategies are being
observant, planning ahead, and using his hatchet. Those strategies and the way Brian used them are
what you will read about.
The first strategy Brian used was being observant. One way Brian was observant was when he noticed
something bad was going to happen, and it did. Brian was in the water looking for fish for food then
all of the sudden he feels something weird is about to happen. Brian stands there for a few seconds,
and out of the sudden this moose comes and attacks him. After being attacked by a moose a tornado
hit destroying everything he made. Another way Brian was observant was when he was catching the
fool birds. He was having a hard time trying to catch them. He noticed that instead of trying to see

wood. Brian woke up one day and the fire was very low, and he knew he would need more fire would
to keep the fire going. He went out and got enough wood not only to keep up the fire but to have wood
for the next day. And from that day on he got extra wood every morning. Brian also planned ahead
when he thought about the survival pack. Brian remembered he saw the survival pack in the plane. He
knew it would help him a lot so he went to the plane a few days after he thought about it. Those are all
ways Brian used planning ahead or being proactive as a survival strategy. The last strategy that helped

Dr Caligari Close Up
The silent film The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920), is a German expressionist film. The film illustrates
subjectivity, an askew world and expression through its sets, costumes, shots, editing, and acting. Film
theorist Mungsterberg s main idea is that the film overcomes reality through manipulation and
transformation of space, time, and causality. In addition, Mungsterberg emphasizes that the form of
the film should match the content to create unity. Similarly, theorist Balazs main point is how close up
s help transform reality in relation to quality and expression. He highlights the importance of how
close ups reveal the most visual details of life, which portray emotion, mood, intentions, and thoughts.

Caligari would be that the film transforms reality due to the amount of close up s used to evoke
emotion, mood, intentions, and thoughts. Balazs states that The close ups of the film are the creative
instruments of this might visual anthropomorphism (Balazs 119). Balazs basically explains how the
close up gives the viewer a new perspective of reality through the close up. Plus, the close up shows
us things we cannot see like: human characteristics, behaviors and objects in detail to demonstrate
power and emotion. For example, in The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari when Cesare tells Alan that he is only
going to live until dawn there is a close up of Alan s face showing extreme terror. This creates an
emphasis on human emotions and behaviors which helps the viewer relate and possibly identify with
the character. Also the close up in this example helps the audience understand the dramatic scene that
is unfolding through the expression of the character. To sum up, Balazs would agree that The Cabinet
of Dr. Caligari transforms reality through the use of close ups by illustrating emotions and behaviors
that the viewer cannot see through a medium or wide

How To Write A Reflective Practitioner Essay
Teaching Statement
When I think about teaching I think about my coaching philosophy, which has developed from 15
years of experience. A coach has tremendous influence on the physical and psychological
development of their athletes young and old. The primary responsibility of the coach is to enable their
athlete to attain levels of performance not otherwise achievable: therefore, coaches need to develop
skills to motivate athletes and establish the right conditions for learning. Being an effective coach is
more than understanding the technical knowledge of sport, but also knowing how to build trusting
kinesthetic relationships.
My role as a coach is to connect with, engage, excite, and empower athletes, regardless of their
athletic ability, and I try to embody this in my teaching. Through past experiences teaching diverse

behalf of a good barber. At the end when the Captain is still alive he shocks the barber revealing that
he knew all along that he was secretly a rebel and what he wanted to do. This piece of writing has
many interesting aspects to analyze, but symbolization, theme and connections were the most
meaningful to me. The razor was a very symbolic object according to many people. If you don t
already know, symbolization is when we take a solid object and give it and abstract idea. The razor
symbolizes countless things throughout this piece. It was evident that it symbolized his profession but,
it also could be used as a murder weapon. The moral dilemma it represented of the barber was the
most prominent to me. All through the text the barber was faces this internal conflict of to kill or not to
kill. Weather to stand by his morality or collective beliefs. Weather to do what he thought was right or
to do what he was told to be right. These opposites clash and had resulted in conflict. Hero or

Tang And Song Dynasty And Neo-Confucianism
The Tang and Song dynasties are regarded as the Golden Age of Chinese history for its revamped and
complex political system, a massive boom in economy and production, and an influx of various
religions that made it a diverse time period. This turn in Chinese history was made possible by the
switch from subsistence farming, in which people farmed only as much as they needed, to a more
industrial farming, where they produced for the whole state. This allowed certain people to specialize
in certain topics. Rather than needing to be hunters, farmers, and warriors all by themselves, people

The Lone Ranger And Tonto In Heaven By Sherman Alexie
A collection of twenty two stories narrated by different characters, The Lone Ranger and Tonto
Fistfight in Heaven by Sherman Alexie illustrates the lives of modern Native Americans on the
Spokane Indian Reservation and their hardships, which include despair, alcoholism, and poverty.
Tribal members hold high hopes for the young who have extraordinary talent while doubting that they
will achieve success and watching them succumb to alcoholism. These stories, while sad and gloomy,
are told with humor and wit, making the stories bearable to the reader. The grabbing title came to
Alexie in a dream, in which the Lone Ranger and Tonto got in a fight in heaven (McNally, 2001).
Sherman Alexie grew up on the Spokane Indian Reservation. Many of his works, such as Reservation

Bisto Gravy Spring Chair Sunday Analysis
unday chair was inspired from a friend of mine volunteering to feed an elderly person at her house,
from the organization sponsored by Bisto Gravy called, Spare Chair Sunday. Volunteers are sought
after to offer this interaction with an elderly person who has no family.
I felt there is a lot of ignorance surrounding this topic and I wanted to bring light to this situation in a
humorous way. Showing what a difference can be made to that one person who is lonely, with no
family.
This charity struggles with volunteers because the elderly are stereotyped. Although this may be the
case, I wanted to bring humor to this, which I d hope would inspire the younger generation to do their
bit, as they too, will become old one day.
I decided to begin ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I wanted them sat down where there is separation between them, yet at the same time they remain
close because at the very end of this act is the revelation that Abertha, Bertie , was in fact Eileen s
mum s best friend as Bertie notices the photo which was taken sixty years ago with her and EIleens
mother aged sixteen. The third act is initiated with a flash back. This is so their back story is shown,
bringing dimension to the stage 2 young girls, euphorically happy dressed in 1950 s dresses as they re
off to a disco. The next flash back is of the two women saying goodbye as they move, unwillingly on
with their lives. It shows the closeness between Grace and Bertie, yet due to life, men and time, they
become separated, yet throughout their lives, having never forgot one another and their memories
having always remained close within their hearts. This again relates to todays society. I lost my best
friend at the age of 18, and this was the final inspiration to this story. I was lucky to have made our
friendship up a week before she died. This here isn t the case, but meeting the daughter of her best
friend is second best, and because the Bertie has no family, it shows that now she has and although
Eileen didn t want to even invite an old person over, it shows what good can be

Moreland Case Study
In 1851, Moreland was established as one of the first school districts in California (District #2).
Instruction was provided in a private home. On November 13, 1852, teacher Samuel Rogers purchased
the home of Zechariah Moreland for $350 to establish the district. The home was located at the corner
of Payne and Saratoga Avenues, northeast of the old oak tree (officially named The Moreland Oak
Tree in August, 1981). It remained the schoolhouse until 1894 when Moreland Elementary School was
built at that location. The picture on our home page is part of a picture taken in 1933. The facility was
planned to take care of the ultimate growth of the Moreland School District. At first, only the lower
floor was used. The upper floor was occasionally

1950 s Fashion
Fashions fade. Style is eternal Once said the famous designer Yves Saint Laurent. In the 1950 s
marked the era in fashion that people think of as the turning point in fashion. Teenagers would be
looked at for their own fashion, and would have sexier outfits. Women would start to wear accessories
such as hats, glasses and diamonds (Fashion History). They would show more skin and have tighter
outfits. Men would start to wear suits and look more formal. The cowboy look would start to play a
big role during this time. Many men would wear different colors including pink. Before the 1950 s
many teenagers would wear the same exact clothes as their parents did, in the 50 s we start to see
fashion including teenagers as their own fashion. Teenage girls would wear more colors, and tighter
dresses to get a finer look. We also see that the teenagers start to go farther into the accessories by
wearing pearls, necklaces and waves many high class wives would too. Many of the guy teenagers
would wear sweaters or leather man jackets and the rebel high schoolers would wear the black leather
jacket. The 1950s, we see many new ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Marilyn Monroe once said Women s cloths should be tight enough to show that you re a woman, but
also show that you re a lady. Seeing women in the 50 s, many of them looked up at famous or well
known models or actors such as Marilyn Monroe. We see hats and sunglasses, start to be involved in
their attire. Jewelry and makeup start to blend with the fashion, We also see the pencil and poofy
dresses being worn. Women that work in formal places where high heels and pant suits to look
professional. Today we see some girls pay hundred of dollars on dresses, and in the 50 s women would
pay anywhere from 99 cents to fifty dollar dresses (1950 s Fashion). Although we have seen how
fashion was for women and teenagers one of the biggest changes in fashion was for the

The Sociological Perspective
In chapter one of our book it is talking about the sociological perspective. Sociology is defined as the
systematic study of human society. It is explained that sociological perspective is seeing the common
in the specific. Sociologists look for common patterns in the behavior of certain people. I found it very
interesting in chapter one where it states that higher class white men are more likely to commit suicide
than any other population and that between genders; men are more likely to commit suicide. This is
interesting because I would have thought the roles were reversed. I would have thought that women
are more likely to commit suicide because women are more emotional than men. Later on in the
chapter it goes on to talk about how to apply sociological perspective. It can be applied in three
different ways. It can be applied in one s life, one s work, and in studying sociology. When we apply
sociological perspective to our lives we are more likely to become active and more aware. After
applying sociological perspective we begin to think more critically in our everyday lives. There are
three major theoretical approaches. The structural functional approach is the basic layout for building
theory that sees society as a complex system whose parts work simultaneously to stimulate harmony
and strength. The social conflict approach sees society as a place of inequality that produces struggle
and change. Lastly is the symbolic interaction approach. This approach sees that

Analysis Of Like Water For Chocolate By Lauren Esquivel
Like Water for Chocolate is a novel written by Mexican novelist Lauren Esquivel, and published in
1989. The story is set during the Mexican revolution and portrays the life of Tita De La Garza and her
mother, Mama Elena. In this novel, Esquivel explores ideas such as the power of love and hatred, as
well as the importance of staying persistent. By using magical realism, it allows the author to
emphasise on the significance of these ideas, as well as to effectively convey her thoughts to the
reader.
In Like Water for Chocolate, Esquivel explores Tita s negative emotions through the preparation of
food, and uses magical realism to emphasise on the power of hatred. Since Tita is forbidden by Mama
Elena to express her anger and hatred towards ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tita displays her persistence by never giving up on her love for Pedro. Conversely, Mama Elena s
persistence is seen through her actions of taking away Tita s freedom, and constantly restraining her
from approaching Pedro. Even after she passes away, the ghost of Mama Elena (pg. 157) returns to the
ranch to prevent Tita from obtaining her freedom and reuniting with Pedro. The ghost shames Tita for
breaking the family tradition and commands her to leave the ranch. Since Tita accepts the guilt that is
instilled into her, she is unable to rid her mind of the phantom. However, when Mama Elena questions
Tita: who do you think you are? (pg. 180), she experiences a brief moment of self realisation, and
decides that she no longer wanted to be controlled by her mother. Tita responds back to the ghost: ...[I
am] a person who has a perfect right to live her life as she pleases...I hate you, I ve always hated you!
(pg. 180). With this, she breaks away from the mental grasp of the Mama Elena s ghost forever.
Through this experience, she learnt to stand up for herself in order to obtain what she desired for the
most her personal freedom. She also learnt to stay persistent and continue to express her love for
Pedro, no matter how much her mother forbid her to do so. By using magical realism, Esquivel applies
emphasis to these

Dionysus Duality In Euripides The Bacchae
The Bacchae by Euripides grapples with the dichotomy of the human condition, confronting the
duality of having public decorum and acting upon impulsive desires.
Dionysus proves to be a compelling character, acting as a living god with humanistic qualities.
Dionysus ability to allow humans to let go of persistant ailments and issues within their life, while not
without its positive aspects, proves to be excessive. Most notably, the relationship of Dionysus and
Pentheus is that of constant strife. For example, in scene 1, the introduction of The Stranger
(Dionysus) and Pentheus shows the inherent flaws of Pentheus, and his inability to see what is right
before him. Enraged at The Stranger s calm demeanor, Pentheus becomes enraged, exclaiming you
must be punished for your evil sophistries! (Euriphides 262). Dionysus ability to inhabit different
forms gives way to the downfall of Pentheus, who cannot recognize the signs of Dioynsus divinity as
a god, even when presented clear in front of him. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While Dioynsus is ultimately successful in the death of Pentheus, Dioynsus ability to so easily control
the actions of Agaue with his divinity highlights Euriphides message that the powers of the gods are
stronger than the interpersonal relationships and actions of those on Earth. While Dionysus is hailed a
hero throughout the play, his manic actions with his divinity proves to be a negative quality, showing
the lack of self control and morality when using extreme

Android Phones versus iPhones
There is a running joke in the geeky realm of our society that says there are two types of people in the
world, those who use iPhones and those who use Androids. Most of the time, people either love or
hate either gadget, there isn t much room to have mediocre feelings towards these devices. They are
both amazing handheld devices, which perform a multitude of tasks. They guide us, entertain us, teach
us, organize us, the list can go on and on. The Android and iPhone are two very comparative devices
that many of us use on a daily basis. Although they have very similar functions and features, the two
are quite different in how they operate, and what permissions they allow the user to have. First, I
would like to explain to you what an operating system is. I will be using the term, operating system,
throughout this essay and many people do not have a clear understanding of what it is. Simply put, an
operating system is the brain of any computer or electronic device. The operating system is a bundle
of information that directs all the operations that a computer does in order to function properly. The
operating system sends information to and from communication resources of applications that you use
or your device uses. When the geniuses of Silicon Valley were discovering how to create a system that
would allow for multiple applications to be used, they gave birth to the operating system. This very
basic system was called Linux. Linux is the most fundamental base of an

The Characteristics Of The Kiowa Tribe Of Native Americans
The Kiowa Indians are a tribe of Native Americans. They migrated from western Montana southward
into the Rocky Mountains in Colorado in the 17th and 18th centuries, and finally into the Southern
Plains by the early 19th century. The Kiowa Indians are from Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and
Texas. The Kiowa tribe was forced to move to a reservation in Oklahoma during the 1800 s, and most
Kiowa people are still living in Oklahoma today. They first lived in what is now called Montana. In
the 1700s they moved to the Great Plains. The Kiowa were powerful warriors. They defended their
land from U.S. settlers and troops longer than most other Plains Indian tribes did. The Kiowa Tribe
had unique characteristics that impacted the United States back then.
Things that made the Kiowa Tribe unique were their calendars. The biannual Kiowa Calendar divides
the year into summer and winter. To differentiate the seasons, the calendar keeper used a pictograph of
the Sun dance lodge for summer and perhaps hand game sticks or zohl ahl sticks for winter. It is
commonly believed that the Johausan was the earlier calendar keeper in the Kiowa tribe. After the
death of Johausan in the winter of 1866 1867, other Kiowa men began keeping calendars as well. As
time progressed into the twentieth century, the number of calendars grew as the calendar keepers
began recording for individual communities. Eventually, calendar keeping fell into nonexistence.
The Kiowa saw great importance in the extended

  • 5. Puerto Rico Territory Why do so many people argue about how Puerto Rico became a territory? Several historians believe that Puerto Rico was made a US Territory by The Foraker Act of 1900. Other historians say that The Jones Shafroth Act of 1917 made it a US Territory. Some might also say it was World War I. This essay will tell you about, Puerto Rico, all three things, and also which one is truly correct. Before starting to truly explain things, let me explain how this whole thing started. At the beginning is how Puerto Rico was discovered. Puerto Rico was found by Christopher Columbus on his second voyage to the Americas, when he was trying to find his fort on Hispaniola called La Navidad which was destroyed. Then Juan Ponce de Léon stumbled across Puerto Rico again while on his search to find the mystical Fountain of Youth . Then for the next three hundred years, Spain will rule Puerto Rico with an iron fist until 1898 when the Spanish American War broke out and the USA got Puerto Rico for themselves. The Spanish American War was a three month war that started on April 25, 1898 and ended on August 12, 1898. • 6. Themes Of Greed In Adam Mitchell s Cloud Atlas Cloud Atlas is a book composed of six different writings from a multitude of writers such as Adam Ewing, Cavendish, Sonmi, and Frobisher. These stories are written in a different time period but show a lot of the same ideals and themes. There are many themes that present themselves in cloud atlas but the one that appealed to me most was greed. Mitchell did a very good job in showing greed in each of the chapters in a variety of different ways whether it was a minimal or large amount. In addition, the author also related both the future and the past to the current time to show what is arguably the worst characteristic one can have. I believe that Mitchell chose the theme of greed to show that all humans will do nearly anything to satisfy their personal needs and wants. While reading Cloud Atlas I realized that there is at least minimal traces of greed in each writing. The writing of Adam Ewing, Luisa Rey, Sonmi 451, and Cavendish expressed the most greed out of the six. The first chapter of the book opens up with Adam Ewing s journal. At first he writes about the strange man named Dr. Goose and picking up teeth on the beach. Although Ewing was a bit skeptical of Goose at first, it seemed that they became closer as the book progressed until a particular situation. Later, Adam writes about when Dr. Goose and himself walked up on a whipping of a particular slave names Autua who comes in later into the story and ends up being a very important character when saving Adam s life. ... To date, about two thirds of college students are classified as sedentary and/or underactive, putting them at a higher risk level for poor health. To the best of our knowledge, however, few studies have aimed to change the classroom culture and settings to facilitate the adoption of a physically active lifestyle among college students. In fact, like that in all other educational settings, college classrooms are solely designed for academic activities which are generally sedentary in nature. To this end, after having spent more than 10 years engaging in such kind of academic activities, students are basically forced to embrace sedentary lifestyles. Therefore, there is urgent need to change the classroom culture and settings to effectively promote PA among students. The current project is guided by the social ecological model (SEM) (see Figure 1), which has been used widely in studies on behavioral changes (Golden Earp, 2012refs). • 11. Analysis Of Matthew 22 s The Kingdom Of Heaven Why do you suppose Jesus mentions what this man was wearing? Listen to me, everything that Jesus says and does in the New Testament is very important! Whatever the garment is that this man has on is a social faux pas to the celebration that he has been invited to. The rest of the parable is pretty straightforward as Jesus describes the kingdom of heaven, the kingdom of heaven is like... Remember at the beginning of the parable, we are told that the first group that was invited to the wedding, refused to attend. When the King heard about it, he was furious, and he sent out his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city, Matthew 22:7 8 NKJV. The King then declared an open invitation to everyone to attend the marriage of his son. The parable in Matthew 22 is a profound teaching. It shows that the invitation to salvation is the same as receiving an invitation to the wedding of the Messiah. That is why the garment that the one man had on was such an irritation to the King. It was not so much what the man was wearing per se. It was a heart issue! The apostle John tells us the significance of wedding garments in Revelation 19. And I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunderings saying: Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns! Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready. And to her it was granted to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Carbon Of Arctic Reservoirs Vulnerability Experiment The Carbon in Arctic Reservoirs Vulnerability Experiment (CARVE) is a multi year mission conducted by NASA to obtain detailed calculations of greenhouse gas emissions, such as carbon dioxide and methane from thawing permafrost by probing deep into the frozen landscape of Alaska. For the first time, NASA scientists have been accurately recording these emission sources and rates using highly sensitive airborne sensors mounted on NASA government aircraft. NASA scientists expect to make unprecedented accurate estimates of the extent of Arctic carbon cycling impacts to the Arctic atmosphere and the local Alaskan ecology. The data results of this mission will help both NASA and global scientists better understand how the estimated rate of greenhouse gas emissions affect the rise in temperature and potential impact of Earth s future climate near and long term. The CARVE mission goals intend to answer important questions about Earth climate change. Ultimately, CARVE will provide an integrated set of data that will provide unprecedented experimental insights into Arctic carbon cycling. Over the last several decades, climatologists have found that Arctic regions, in particular, have been affected most ecologically, for overall global increased temperature changes resulting from greenhouse gas emissions. Landscapes in the Arctic have change dramatically over the last decade alone. As tundra has thawed earlier than seasonally normal, and Arctic ice has melted in oceans year around ... I am interested in this project because I have always liked science fiction/fantasy movies. I like to think about the possibilities that technology holds for our future. I am also interested in how technology influences our culture. I was in high school when this movie came out and had limited access to computers at that time. For example, I worked for a grocery store in the 1980s and remember other employees worrying that new machines were being developed that would replace the cashiers, and we would all be out of a job. In Cornel West s essay, The New Cultural Politics of Difference , West describes this new cultural politics of difference to have three challenges: intellectual, existential, and political. The new cultural politics of difference trash the monolithic and homogeneous in the name of diversity and reject the abstract and the universal in light of the concrete. Cornel West, through the use of the three major historical periods (Age of Europe, America s Domination, Civil Rights Movement), explains the importance of intervention in order to change and improve upon the mistakes of the past and reject the false degrading stereotypes that were created during those times. Throughout his essay, Cornel West uses examples of the battle between the people of color and White Progressives effectively because it allows the readers to understand that for changes to be made one must be simultaneously be in the group challenging the system and in the system itself in order for social reforms to occur within the society they live in. According to Cornel West, the new cultural politics of difference faces three basic challenges intellectual, existential, and political (West 3). Balazs basically explains how the close up gives the viewer a new perspective of reality through the close up. For example, in The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari when Cesare tells Alan that he is only going to live until dawn there is a close up of Alan s face showing extreme terror. The Raven and Ligeia a comparison Essay The Raven and Ligeia a comparison Although the two tales are presented in different literary forms the tales themselves deal with remarkably similar subject matter. So much so that it is possible to compare the style of each with but a little reference to the general themes of the two works. The Raven and Ligeia are both about loss. The narrators of both tales have lost the dearest thing to them, a woman of incomparable talents and beauty. That the loss of this woman has happened for different reasons does not matter for it is how this loss manifests itself in the lives of the narrators that provide the drama and the poignancy of the stories. In each we discover the narrator is dwelling upon that woman that he adored and in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So it is that after he has moved from the country of their romance and residence he is still so obsessed with her that he makes his new home in an old abandoned abbey and even goes so far as to decorate his bedroom with the mortuary artefacts of several eastern cultures. It is not until his second, and neglected, wife takes ill that these morbid fascinations take full root. Through the veils of an opiate stupor he begins to imagine some supernatural agency that only he has perceived to be responsible for the final demise of his current wife. And after the death he begins to imagine a reviving of the corpse where in the end just as the dawn approaches he beholds his beloved Ligeia returned to him. So it is that the main themes in both of these works are those of obsession, death and the guilt of the survivor. How each approaches this and evokes the mood in the reader is remarkably different. In Ligeia the narrator begins his tale in a crumbling city on the Rhine, immediately evoking thoughts of the old world, this is emphasised almost straight away as he describes his departed love. He compares her with the goddesses of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Declaration Of Independence Reflects Key American Ideas How the Declaration of Independence Reflects key American Ideas The Declaration of Independence is one of the essential documents of the American Founding, as it articulates a set of political principle about the purposes of the new, independent republic. It is essentially a formal statement that describes the reason for America wanting freedom and separation from Great Britain. It reflects key American ideas, including liberty, individualism, self rule, limited government, equality, and the American dream. Unlike many other democracies, the U.S. maintained and embraced these ideas throughout its past, is applying it in the present, and will continue to follow them in the future. The Chinese came over first and decades later, the Japanese, Koreans, and Filipinos followed. All of these Asian American populations faced discrimination, racial hostility, inequality, deportation, and possible death. They paved the way for other Asian American populations wanting to make better lives for themselves and for their families. Bisto Gravy Spring Chair Sunday Analysis unday chair was inspired from a friend of mine volunteering to feed an elderly person at her house, from the organization sponsored by Bisto Gravy called, Spare Chair Sunday. Volunteers are sought after to offer this interaction with an elderly person who has no family. I felt there is a lot of ignorance surrounding this topic and I wanted to bring light to this situation in a humorous way. Showing what a difference can be made to that one person who is lonely, with no family. This charity struggles with volunteers because the elderly are stereotyped. Although this may be the case, I wanted to bring humor to this, which I d hope would inspire the younger generation to do their bit, as they too, will become old one day. I decided to begin ... The third act is initiated with a flash back. This is so their back story is shown, bringing dimension to the stage 2 young girls, euphorically happy dressed in 1950 s dresses as they re off to a disco. The next flash back is of the two women saying goodbye as they move, unwillingly on with their lives. It shows the closeness between Grace and Bertie, yet due to life, men and time, they become separated, yet throughout their lives, having never forgot one another and their memories having always remained close within their hearts. This again relates to todays society. I lost my best friend at the age of 18, and this was the final inspiration to this story. I was lucky to have made our friendship up a week before she died. Many men would wear different colors including pink. Before the 1950 s many teenagers would wear the same exact clothes as their parents did, in the 50 s we start to see fashion including teenagers as their own fashion. • 44. The Sociological Perspective In chapter one of our book it is talking about the sociological perspective. Sociology is defined as the systematic study of human society. It is explained that sociological perspective is seeing the common in the specific. Sociologists look for common patterns in the behavior of certain people. I found it very interesting in chapter one where it states that higher class white men are more likely to commit suicide than any other population and that between genders; men are more likely to commit suicide. This is interesting because I would have thought the roles were reversed. I would have thought that women are more likely to commit suicide because women are more emotional than men. Later on in the chapter it goes on to talk about how to apply sociological perspective. It can be applied in three different ways. It can be applied in one s life, one s work, and in studying sociology. When we apply sociological perspective to our lives we are more likely to become active and more aware. After applying sociological perspective we begin to think more critically in our everyday lives. There are three major theoretical approaches. The structural functional approach is the basic layout for building theory that sees society as a complex system whose parts work simultaneously to stimulate harmony and strength. The social conflict approach sees society as a place of inequality that produces struggle and change. Lastly is the symbolic interaction approach. This approach sees that ... Conversely, Mama Elena s persistence is seen through her actions of taking away Tita s freedom, and constantly restraining her from approaching Pedro. Even after she passes away, the ghost of Mama Elena (pg. 157) returns to the ranch to prevent Tita from obtaining her freedom and reuniting with Pedro. The ghost shames Tita for breaking the family tradition and commands her to leave the ranch. Since Tita accepts the guilt that is instilled into her, she is unable to rid her mind of the phantom. However, when Mama Elena questions Tita: who do you think you are? (pg. 180), she experiences a brief moment of self realisation, and decides that she no longer wanted to be controlled by her mother. Tita responds back to the ghost: ...[I am] a person who has a perfect right to live her life as she pleases...I hate you, I ve always hated you! (pg. 180). • 46. Dionysus Duality In Euripides The Bacchae The Bacchae by Euripides grapples with the dichotomy of the human condition, confronting the duality of having public decorum and acting upon impulsive desires. Dionysus proves to be a compelling character, acting as a living god with humanistic qualities. Dionysus ability to allow humans to let go of persistant ailments and issues within their life, while not without its positive aspects, proves to be excessive. Most notably, the relationship of Dionysus and Pentheus is that of constant strife. For example, in scene 1, the introduction of The Stranger (Dionysus) and Pentheus shows the inherent flaws of Pentheus, and his inability to see what is right before him. Enraged at The Stranger s calm demeanor, Pentheus becomes enraged, exclaiming you must be punished for your evil sophistries! (Euriphides 262). Dionysus ability to inhabit different forms gives way to the downfall of Pentheus, who cannot recognize the signs of Dioynsus divinity as a god, even when presented clear in front of him. ... Most of the time, people either love or hate either gadget, there isn t much room to have mediocre feelings towards these devices. They are both amazing handheld devices, which perform a multitude of tasks. They guide us, entertain us, teach us, organize us, the list can go on and on. The Android and iPhone are two very comparative devices that many of us use on a daily basis. Although they have very similar functions and features, the two are quite different in how they operate, and what permissions they allow the user to have. First, I would like to explain to you what an operating system is. I will be using the term, operating system, throughout this essay and many people do not have a clear understanding of what it is. Simply put, an operating system is the brain of any computer or electronic device. The operating system is a bundle of information that directs all the operations that a computer does in order to function properly. The operating system sends information to and from communication resources of applications that you use or your device uses. When the geniuses of Silicon Valley were discovering how to create a system that would allow for multiple applications to be used, they gave birth to the operating system. This very basic system was called Linux. Linux is the most fundamental base of an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. The Characteristics Of The Kiowa Tribe Of Native Americans The Kiowa Indians are a tribe of Native Americans. They migrated from western Montana southward into the Rocky Mountains in Colorado in the 17th and 18th centuries, and finally into the Southern Plains by the early 19th century. The Kiowa Indians are from Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. The Kiowa tribe was forced to move to a reservation in Oklahoma during the 1800 s, and most Kiowa people are still living in Oklahoma today. They first lived in what is now called Montana. In the 1700s they moved to the Great Plains. The Kiowa were powerful warriors. They defended their land from U.S. settlers and troops longer than most other Plains Indian tribes did. The Kiowa Tribe had unique characteristics that impacted the United States back then. Things that made the Kiowa Tribe unique were their calendars. The biannual Kiowa Calendar divides the year into summer and winter. To differentiate the seasons, the calendar keeper used a pictograph of the Sun dance lodge for summer and perhaps hand game sticks or zohl ahl sticks for winter. It is commonly believed that the Johausan was the earlier calendar keeper in the Kiowa tribe. After the death of Johausan in the winter of 1866 1867, other Kiowa men began keeping calendars as well. As time progressed into the twentieth century, the number of calendars grew as the calendar keepers began recording for individual communities. Eventually, calendar keeping fell into nonexistence.
