Rousseau s Discourse
A FARMER S PLIGHT: AN ANALYSIS OF THE HACIENDA LUISITA CONTROVERSY
ACCORDING TO ROUSSEAU S DISCOURSE ON INEQUALITY
INTRODUCTION
This paper aims to compare Rousseau s idea in his work Discourse on Inequality to the non ending
controversy regarding Hacienda Luisita, while the aim of Rousseau s Discourse is to examine the
foundations of inequality among men, and to determine whether this inequality is authorized by
natural law.
Inequality has always been a never ending trend topic in the Philippines, and we can see that there is
still widespread inequality throughout the country today, defined in sociology as the existence of
unequal opportunities and rewards for different social positions or statuses within a group or society.
The Hacienda ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We can see political inequality through the exploitation of the poor, which is represented by the
Farmers, by the rich, represented by the Cojuangco Aquino clan; this exploitation is present because of
the rivalry in property between the two groups.
The Cojuangcos, who owns the vast 6,000 hectare property, are the ones who control the people who
work and live there. The wealth that they amass from its produce gives them the power to hold those
who are deeply indebted to them in the palm of their hands.
The lack of the workers ability to finance and sustain their fight for the right to own the land that they
and their ancestors were cultivating continues to be the main problem. The unjust working conditions
has been an issue for years, but had these landlords put their feet in the workers shoes, even for just a
while, they would have heard and given the farmers what they were asking for a long time ago.
To avoid the conflict, the Cojuangcos must lend an ear and open their eyes to what the workers are
saying, and perhaps both parties involved would be able to communicate and gain benefits

W Kabi Research Paper
Dear W kabi my brother, Since you ve been gone, our home, Mali, has started to change thanks to the
ideas of others. We are also impacting others, such as Egypt. When our Mansa, Musa, made his
journey to Mecca, he stopped by many cities along the way, and he gave out gold to many people
along the route. He also did much work to help others, showing all these people his merciful kindness.
He also built many mosques as he traveled. However, he went a little overboard because he gave out
so much gold in Cairo that the worth of gold in Cairo dropped significantly and caused inflation. The
economic crisis, he brought the people is still going on and it is very severe, we re assuming that it
likely won t recover for another ten years or so.

Creativity In Amos Vogel s Film As A Subversive Art
Introduction
Creativity has been an inherent part of human experience since remote times when visual forms
helped our ancestors to communicate leaving us with many recorded moments of their history. In a
creative process multiple aspects bind together, things come out the intellect but also there are other
states of consciousness and unconsciousness phenomena involved. A similar thing occurs in the
contemplation of a piece, where we can have different interpretations, various sensations and opinions,
but in one way or another through art humans develop common connections in between individual
experiences. Art cultivates sensitivity and it can be used to explore the world in new forms that
perhaps otherwise might not have been considered, allowing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Hallway Hangers and The Brothers Essay
In his research Jay Macleod, compares two groups of teenage boys, the Hallway Hangers and the
Brothers. Both groups of teenagers live in a low income neighborhood in Clarendon Heights, but they
are complete opposites of each other. The Hallway Hangers, composed of eight teenagers spend most
of their time in the late afternoon or early evening hanging out in doorway number 13 until very late at
night. The Brothers are a group of seven teenagers that have no aspirations to just hang out and cause
problems, the Brothers enjoy active pastimes such as playing basketball. The Hallway Hangers all
smoke, drink, and use drugs. Stereotyped as hoodlums, punks, or burnouts by outsiders, the Hallway

A primary group is a small, relatively permanent, intimate, and unspecialized group that develops a
sense of we ; a face to face group that entails close emotional ties. A type of group that is less
characteristic of groups in modern society where impersonality and individualism tend to dominate
(Charon p. 327). The Hallway Hangers know as a group that work is highly important in order to
support them. The boys have all held summer time jobs. All of them, except for one of the members
have pursued fulltime work, but none have been able to obtain meaningful employment. Every time
one of them thinks they have a decent job, something happens and it doesn t work out for them. This
type of firsthand experience in the job market further deflates any illusions they might have had about
the openness of the opportunity structure (Macleod p. 164). In contrast, the Brothers as a group look
forward to a more optimistic future where work is the central goal. For this group, work is an
exclusively summer time affair, in fact only one member is on the job market full time (Macleod p.
167). This is one of the reasons why they still have a positive attitude towards the labor market, they
have not been shut out or had a job fall through on them. As a group they may even discuss their goals
for school and work in the future and this can lead to even higher

Ice Hockey in Canada Essay
Ice Hockey in Canada
Ice hockey has in the last hundred years evolved to become international. Canada is in jeopardy of
losing its six teams. Tradition run deep in all of the cities and also professional hockey teams create
thousands of jobs and help out in the communities. Teams in the Canadian market are having trouble
keeping their programs in the black because of higher taxes and a weaker Canadian dollar. In order for
professional hockey teams in Canada not to relocate to United States, it is necessary for Ottawa to
provide tax cuts for them. Professional hockey has been around in Canada for over one hundred years.
Tradition runs deep in programs like the Toronto Maple Leaf s and Montreal Canadians, which have

Seemingly, everyone recognizes that in Canada, Hockey is King (c1).
These teams have made a home for themselves in their towns and if these two franchises are up rooted
from their communities they may not be gained much of an advantage even with the lower taxes
(Dryden 2).
One of the fundamental problems with Canadian hockey teams competing with their American
counterparts is that Canadian teams pay all of the player s salaries and travel are in American
currency. However, all the revenue from ticket sales, concessions and advertising is in Canadian
currency. American teams have an advantage over their Canadian counterparts because all the money
that was created from ticket sales, concessions and selling advertising is one third more than what
Canadian teams will make. This is because of a weaker Canadian dollar, 69 cents to one American
dollar, means that Canadian franchises will always make one third less from basic franchise profits as
long as the Canadian dollar stays the same. The teams are among Canada s fewest businesses that pay
most of their salaries and expenses in U.S. dollars out of revenue earned in depressed Canadian dollars
(May p 2). This is a problem because the weaker Canadian dollar makes it harder for these franchises
to run day to day operations (Duhatschek 7). The result is

Adam And Eve Loss Of Knowledge Essay
The tale of Adam and Eve, an infamous account in the book of Genesis, depicts man s original
disobedience in eating of the Tree of Knowledge and serves as humankind s first archetype of the
innate relationship between lost innocence and the attainment of knowledge. As portrayed in the story,
God s severe punishment of Adam and Eve for consuming the forbidden fruit insinuates that it is
wrong to desire knowledge, more specifically, the knowledge of humanity s potential for good and
evil. The resultant loss of innocence from gaining this moral comprehension is all too frequently
regarded as sinful, undesirable, and ultimately regrettable. The concept however, of pursuing a greater
understanding of the natures of others and oneself is not fundamentally wrong as it expresses a kind of
valuable moral growth. As evidenced by further analysis of the story of Adam and Eve, it is apparent
that although acquiring knowledge does ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the case of Adam and Eve, the two became gradually more knowledgeable after eating the fruit and
were forced to depart from the childlike innocence that they had experienced in the Garden of Eden.
This same departure is further illustrated by the responsibilities that children are assigned once they
begin to mature. No longer are they solely accountable for their own person, but their actions must
also reflect consideration for the well being of those around them as they now have the ability to
reflect upon issues outside of themselves. This erasure of ignorance is of great importance as it now
allows for the construction of moral dimension within mankind. The consumption of the fruit
symbolizes the acquirement of a wealth of moral knowledge for Adam and Eve and the recognition of
their individual obligations in human

The Effect Of Light And Plant Growth
Introduction:
A plant is any of the boundless number of living beings within the biological kingdom Plantae, these
species are considered of low motility since this species generally generate their own food by sunlight.
They incorporate a large group of commonplace life forms including trees, forbs, bushes, grasses,
vines, plants, and greeneries. In this task we are experimenting the relationship between light and
plant growth by growing plants in three different lights which are red light, blue light and white light.
As I stated above that plants generate their own food by sunlight. Sunlight can be broken up by a
prism into respective colors of red, blue, orange, yellow, green, indigo, violet and white. All this lights
have specific ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The red light duty is to produce flowers or fruits. Red light is vital to a plant s initial life for seed
germination, root development, and globule improvement.
All this lights have equally conurbation towards plants growth but without any light then there is no
process of photosynthesis which means there no plant growth at all. Photosynthesis is the procedure
whereby radian vitality from the sun is changed over to the concoction bond vitality of glucose. In
plants it happens in chloroplasts which concentrated cells. Chlorophyll atoms are instrumental in the
first step, which is the change of light vitality to the substance bond vitality of ATP. Vitality to change
carbon dioxide and hydrogen to glucose is then given by the ATP. Oxygen is discharged as a waste
result of procedure. The reaction is shown below:
As it can be seen in the reaction above that water is required in the process of photosynthesis, another
thing which can be seen that in the reaction above is that plants need water to produce glucose. Plant
gets its water from roots. The Water moves from the dirt into the plants roots hair. This occurs by a
process called osmosis. Osmosis is the unconstrained net development of dissolvable atoms through a
semi penetrable membrane into an area of higher solute fixation, in the course that has a tendency to
even up the solute fixation on the two sides. As I said above that osmosis draws

Ethnic Conflicts In Sudan
According to Africa News, 45 people have died as a result of ethnic fighting, The attack against the
Ruop was carried out by the Pakem fighters in retaliation for the attacks that were carried out by a
group of Ruop youths. The fighting was very heavy, it left more than 45 people dead and many more
injured. The military has since been deployed from the state capital to try and stop the violence that
has seen the burning down of houses and property.
These tribal clashes are not new in Sudan for example, the Ma alya and Rizergat ethnic groups had
multiple clashes throughout 2014 that turned into an all out war in the oil rich region of Darfur. This
left a lot of people dead and many more injured from both ethnic groups. The conflicts were about
land rights and shared resources have lasted for more than ten years. The conflict in South Sudan has
seen people flee Sudan into neighboring countries and Sudan itself. There have been nine big refugee
camps that have been created but to According to Rev. Michael Didi, the fighting follows them even in
the refugee camps. And because of this, each ethnic group are put separately even in the camps.
This ethnic fighting is not confined to Sudan, almost everyone will remember the genocide in Rwanda
where members of the Hutu majority murdered about 800,000 Tutsi minorities. Ordinary people were
incited by local officials to take arms against there neighbor. The brutality spread throughout the
country with shocking speed, no one spared

Themes In The Alchemist
Always Be You
Have you ever just been yourself and done something nice and felt better? You might not know the joy
you caused, but lots of people do nice things for example helping an old lady cross the street. You may
not know it, but you probably made that person s day by just being yourself and lending a helping
hand. In the novel, The Alchemist, by Paulo Coelho, Santiago learns, When we strive to become better
than we are, everything around us becomes better, too. On his journey, Santiago encounters a king and
learns some important lessons. Second, Santiago works at a crystal shop to earn money and helps the
shopkeeper make money. Finally, Santiago learns about courage from the Alchemist. First, Santiago
meets with a king and watches as a butterfly flutters around. For example, when Santiago is meeting
with an old man that once was a king he spots something. He remembered that his grandfother once
told him that the butterfly flying around them was a good omen (32). Santiago is sees a butterfly
flapping it s wings and he remembers that his grandfather told him about it and how it would make
people feel good about themselves. Santiago offers a trade to the man. He trades his sheep and in
return, the man helps him begin his journey. He thinks that this deal will make the old king feel good
about himself just like the butterfly made him feel. Finally, this is important because Santiago is
pursuing his dreams and traveling and as a result, he hopes to have made the old

The Causes And Consequences Of Grade Inflation
Grade inflation has been a widespread issue that has been affecting many institutions. It may be in a
way where the instructor raises a students grade by one letter, or by raising a failing grade to a passing
grade. Many colleges and universities to this day use the typical letter grading system which is
A,B,C,D,F. Some universities, on the other hand feel that this grading system is under estimating
students intelligence and abilities. Also, many universities are suffering from the problem of grades
that are expanding. Professors and teachers who over evaluate the quality of the student s work or
assignment and consequently assign a grade higher than what the student deserves mainly cause the
problem. Causes that might cause grade inflation is portrayed through personal motives, target of
getting an A grade and avoiding an F and students being in competition with their classmates.
One of the causes of grade inflation is portrayed through personal motives or high expectations from
parents to their children. Many parents put pressure on their children to get good grades. As a result,
the children demand to get A s to meet one of their parents expectations, which is to good a good job.
They get motivated to only get the best of grades. This later becomes a students personal motive. The
students get motivated by letter grades and believe that an A is the only acceptable grade and a
doorway to a brighter future. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If one student gets an A while their classmate gets a grade below a C grade he or she tends to make the
other feel worse. This type of behavior automatically drives the other student out of his mind and

competition to prove himself/herself better than his

What Is The Theme Of Borders By Thomas King
All the Borders Crossed in Thomas King s Borders Thomas King s short story Borders narrates the
conflict occurring in North America, in which a Native American mom and her son become involved
when she tries to cross the borders between Canada and U.S to visit her daughter Laetitia, but she
denies to claim other citizenship than Blackfoot. Although the only border explicitly crossed is the
geographical border separating both countries, the title s plurality suggests there is more than one
single border present in the story. A further analysis to the comments about the Blackfoot community,
the differences between Laetitia and her mother, and the ways of identification requested by the
guards, suggests that they are three more other borders ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The mother is the character representing the pride of the Blackfoot. She attempts to pass their values
down to her children by narrating them their myths, as her son describes, she d tell them slow,
repeating parts as she went, as if she expected me to remember each one. (144), but he does not pay
attention and think about food instead. Due to being from different generations, the two siblings, do
not share the same sense of belonging to the Blackfoot that the mother has, and therefore they lack the
effort towards understanding her. Laetitia is especially reluctant towards the Blackfoot tradition, which
can be appreciated in the dialogue: You can still see the mountain from here, my mother told Laetitia
in Blackfoot. Lots of mountains in Salt Lake, Laetitia told her in English. (135) Laetitia does not
embrace her Blackfoot identity, as she is not willing to speak in Blackfoot and eventually ends up
moving to the U.S. As Gruber argues, King s depiction of the scenario amalgamates a universal
teenage disinterest in traditional values with more specifically Native issue of the precarious nature of
the oral tradition (357). This generational border is finally crossed when the mother s fight is shown
on TV. In that shifting moment, Laetitia is finally able to understand her mother and to appreciate her
Blackfoot heritage, as she wants to hear the story of the borders over and over again and considers
moving back to the

A Report On Rms And Altisource Essay
Summary of Progress from Prior Month s Report
RMS has been working with Assured, Ocwen and Altisource since the transfer of assets from Power
REO to Ocwen on February 28, 2013. RMS continues to see instances where data appears incorrect
and/or inconsistent. It is generally limited to current and original list price and date and as of recently,
the estimated close date. As a result, statistics on days on market ( DOM ) may be inaccurate due to
these data issues and when Days on Market are noted in this report they are RMS calculated estimates.
Since RMS began working with Altisource, there have been 628 assets included in the REO project.
555 (86.5%) have liquidated

Forward Looking Objectives and Goals
RMS and Altisource have weekly calls to review assets in critical status from a timeline perspective,
aged assets in all REO stages and assets that have other issues identified by RMS. In November 2016,
RMS continued to focus on the following primary areas of concern:
I. Altisource s Valuation and marketing process including (i) setting an initial list price at an
appropriate market value to generate activity and offers; (ii) the evaluation or assessment of property
condition and its impact on the market value of the property; and (iii) a clear strategy designed to

Sensory Perception In Truman s Mind
Truman uses introspection to dig deeper into his mind. Truman reflects and looks into himself, his
thoughts and desires. This movie is not only a journey of Truman discovering the outside world but
also a process of developing his internal mind. In a scene, Truman is looking into his mirror and

what he has a deep longing for, discover. Sensory perception plays a keen role in helping Truman
discover the truth. It is noticeable that Truman is observant of his surroundings. He used his sense of

Essay on The True Villian in Frankenstein
Mary Shelly wrote the Gothic tale Frankenstein. In the novel, who is the true villain, the Monster or

Mary Shelly wrote the novel Frankenstein using gothic techniques.
Nearly 200 years after the book was first published in 1818 the readers still debate about the real
villain of the story.
Victor Frankenstein could be the hero of the story; the reader sympathises with him when he suffers
the loss of his mother, his brother William, wife Elizabeth, his father and friend Clerval. This extreme
suffering that Victor goes through is a characteristic of romantic heroes. Also as Victor is narrating it

The fact he also has no parents is reflected on that he has no name; a child s name is normally given
by their parents. This makes the reader feel sorry for the monster as it emphasises the fact that he has
been abandoned by Victor and has no parents. The theme of alienation is carried on throughout the
story and can be seen in the point of the De
Lacey s who are thrown out of France. The monster is also alienated by the De Lacey s who reject him
even though helps them out as he grows to love them. He is rejected as Felix, Agatha and Safie return
and see him with the old man. This rejection and alienation makes the reader feel sorry for the monster
as it is purely prejudice of his looks. The readers see the monster as very calm as he restrains his anger
when he sees Victor and doesn t harm him. Also his language is very eloquent and persuasive he
compares Frankenstein to God saying that Victor is his, natural lord and king and that he ought to be
Victor s Adam.
The monster flatters Victor and uses rhetorical questions to get
Victor thinking so that he would listen to his story and this is all after he is threatened and insulted by
him. Also the monster regrets what he did to Victor this shows that he has feelings and a conscience.
The reader feels for the monster because of the use of embedded narration, which allows the readers to

Principles Of Universal Design Of Kroger
ADA/Universal Design Project Summary The grocery store Kroger was inspected based on American
s with Disabilities Act (ADA) and universal design. Overall the store was very disability friendly
although, like many grocery stores, Kroger had items high on shelves that would be hard for people in
wheelchairs to reach. To fix this problem, some principles of universal design could be integrated into
the store layout. The general universal design of the store was fairly inclusive. The power doors at the
entrance allowed for equitable use, the first principle of universal design. Kroger also had restrooms
on either ends of the store. One of the sets of restrooms contained two unisex bathrooms. Though
these two bathrooms didn t have accessible signs there were grab bars and low sinks in the bathroom
fulfilling the second universal design, principle flexibility in use. The organization of the store made it
simple and intuitive, one side of the store contained groceries while the other contained home goods.
This setup allows for optimal flow throughout the store and ease when looking for specific items.
Kroger complied with the low physical effort principle in many ways, the doors to the bathrooms were

Urban Sustainability And Its Impact On The Environment
Introduction Urban sustainability is a very important topic that needs to be addressed and focused on
so that cities and communities all over the world can change and reduce their harmful impact on the
environment. In order to do so, communities must develop sustainably by focusing on how to manage
resources in a way that guarantees welfare and promotes equity of current and future generations
(Elmqvist, 2013). The impact of urbanization is only going to increase, so cities around the world need
to find the means to do it in the most environmentally friendly and sustainable ways possible (Allen,
2009). Cities are a focus for sustainability because they are a hub of human activity and development,
production, and consumption of goods (Elmqvist, 2013). Citizens and their governments need to
embrace sustainability so they can secure the means of survival, improve the quality of the
community, protect the environment, maintain healthy citizens, and to have pride in the legacy left for
future generations (Roseland, 2012, p.3). A big issue for urban areas in developed countries is that
they have become less reliant on their surrounding areas for sustenance and are increasingly importing
consumer goods, food, energy, water, and building material from distant sources (Allen, 2009). Waste
is also being exported from urban areas to distant regions (Allen, 2009). Cities and communities
should try to be more sustainable and more self reliant by using the surrounding areas to produce

Success of the Ancient Roman Empire Essay
Between approximately 509 BCE and the third century CE the Roman empire continually expanded
and became one of the largest in history. While this expansion was due to many reasons, not the least
of which was greed, to a great extent it was made possible because of Rome s overwhelming military
and its combination of a democratic and republic government. (Lee) (Ferril)
Many of Rome s successes were due to its highly trained and disciplined army. Rome s army became
the best in the known world. The Roman army was organized into divisions of soldiers according to
their social class. The ranks of the army could be divided into five classes. The first class were those
who were the most well off, they were equipped with the best weapons, ... Show more content on

Some examples of these would include The Battering Ram, The Turris, and The Ballista. The Roman
army was also very willing to incorporate the war tactics and the weapons of their defeated enemies if
they were deemed beneficial. (Alchin) These improvements provided the Roman army advantages in
battle. The Roman generals that were picked to lead the army were highly skilled in the art of war.
They were masters of attack and counterattacks, the use of mounted and unmounted calvary as well as
archery. As a result of the Roman army s successful tactics, Rome therefore was able to achieve
massive amounts of territory and assemble a substantial empire. (Cavazzi)
As Rome expanded throughout Europe and acquired a growing number of citizens, the army was able
to greatly increase its numbers. This ensured Rome a nearly unlimited supply of new soldiers.
As Rome conquered communities, more and more people were becoming Romanized, and noticed as
Roman citizens. Of course these new citizens were expected to pay taxes, allowing the empire to grow
economically as well as militarily. During the Roman rule of Augustus, Caesar and Trajan, Rome s
laws were continually improved making Rome ever more powerful and ethical. (Ferril)
Throughout the rise and fall of the Roman empire, the government was a combination of a democracy
and republic. Starting with Romulus, Rome was first ruled by a series of seven kings until 509 BCE
when Rome constructed itself a Republic til

If Eastboro declares a dividend in 2001, it will have to take debt to raise the money required for the
dividend. The creditors will not react positively with this decision because the money is not being

Plato s Meno As A Socratic Discussion On Human Sexuality...
Plato s Meno is a Socratic discussion on the definition of human virtues where the main participants
are Socrates and Meno. Other speakers in the dialogue include an Athenian politician, one of Meno s
slaves, and Socrates prosecutor Anytus, who is a friend to Meno. Meno wants to understand the broad
definition of human virtues and while visiting Athens he initiates the dialogue on virtues with
Socrates. The discussion begins with Meno inquiring from Socrates whether virtues can be learned.
Meno argues that, according to the Georgian s, the attribute is defined differently by different people,
and there is no common way to define it so as to apply it to all human beings. In response, Socrates
argues that the Georgians do not understand the real meaning of virtue and in his opinion that some
attributes are common to all human beings. Socrates also rejects the idea that virtues depend on human
sexuality and age and insist that there are common attributes in humans. The conversation between the
two becomes an argument on about the perfect definition of human characteristics. In essence, this
paper discusses the critics in Plato s Meno that led to a senseless conclusion on virtues as it was
significantly contributed by Socrates. As well, the paper will support the argument that the agreement
between Socrates and Memo was based on distinct ideas.
A misunderstanding starts when extracting virtues from the human characters. Meno, defines quite a
number of human virtues, but

Harriet Tubman s Journeys In The Film The Power Of Good
According to the Cambridge English Dictionary, a rescuer is a person that saves someone or
something from a dangerous, harmful, or difficult situation. In the documentary, The Power of Good,
Nicholas Winton, a British humanitarian, organized the transport and rescue of Jewish children from
Czechoslovakia right before World War II. This operation was later known as the Czech
Kindertransport. Another historical figure who saved people from harm was Harriet Tubman, an
African American abolitionist who led enslaved people to freedom along the Underground Railroad, a
vast network of meeting places, secret routes, passageways and safe houses used by slaves in the U.S.
to escape bondage. Although Harriet Tubman and Nicholas Winton are both historical ... Show more

Rather than staying in the safety of the North, Tubman made it her mission to rescue other slaves from
bondage. However, in 1850, the Fugitive Slave Law was passed that stated that escaped slaves could
be captured in the North and be returned to slavery. This made Tubman re routed the Underground
Railroad to Canada, which prohibited slavery. These journeys were usually during the winter months
to minimize the likelihood of being seen. Tubman also carried a rifle for protection and to ensure that
her escapees would not lose their nerve. From 1850 to 1860, Tubman rescued an estimated 70 slaves
in thirteen expeditions and gave an additional 50 to 60 fugitives successful instructions on how to
escape, earning her the nickname the Moses of the Underground Railroad. Nicholas Winton s rescue
missions were very different than those of Harriet Tubman. In December 1938, Winton visited a friend
who was working with primarily Jewish, Czechoslovakian refugees in Sudetenland, the western area
of Czechoslovakia under German control, when he heard that there were no organizations to deal with
refugee children. He began writing letters asking governments to help these children, but only Britain
and Sweden agreed to support him. Winton, along with some volunteers, forged travel documents,
arranged foster parents for the children, and paid out of pocket for the transportation. The children
boarded trains from Prague, Czechoslovakia across Germany to the Atlantic Coast. Then, they were
transported across the English Channel to Britain where foster parents waited to pick up the children.
After the children arrived in Britain, Winton had no contact with them. His rescue efforts ended on
September 1, 1939, after Germany invaded Poland and closed off all borders under German control,
starting World War II. In total, Winton managed to orchestrate eight transports and saved

Narcissism And The Recent Advent Of A 1 Question Scale
For my discussion paper this week I chose to look at narcissism and the recent advent of a 1 question
scale to determine narcissism. In particular I will look at how this study relates to concepts discussed
in Chapter 2 of our readings. The scale and its development is outlined in Development and Validation
of the Single Item Narcissism Scale. My interest in this subject is sparked by interactions with a
family member growing up, who among other things, could be construed as highly narcissistic. From
Wikipedia: Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) is a personality disorder in which a person is
excessively preoccupied with personal adequacy, power, prestige and vanity, mentally unable to see
the destructive damage they are causing to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Reliability and validity seemed to be important concerns for the authors of this paper. They ran 11
different trials in order to rule out confounding variables and ensure that their one item scale was
indeed positively correlated with actual narcissism. In total 2,250 participants were surveyed across a
wide range of scenarios. In study number one participants were also asked to complete scales which
are already known to measure narcissism such as the 40 item narcissistic personality inventory (NPI).
This provides a way to cross check the results of their own SINS scale to make sure that it is valid.
They found that SINS was positively correlated to the NPI with an R value of .40 and a p value of
.001
Study 3 of this paper was used to access the reliability of the scale, that is to say, are the results of the
SINS scale replicable? To accomplish this task 141 undergraduates from the University of Michigan
took the SINS test online and then completed it again 10.9 days later in the presence of the authors of
the study. The test retest correlation the authors found was r=.79. This is a fairly strong correlation,
indicating that their scale is indeed reliable.
In study 7 the authors were afraid that using an 11 point scale had caused some participants to
undervalue their own narcissism because participants were unwilling to rate themselves so high. To
remedy this situation the authors reduced the SINS scale to a 7 point scale and

Synthesis Of T-Pentyl Chloride Lab Report
Introduction: The purpose of this experiment was to synthesize t pentyl chloride from the reaction of t
pentyl alcohol and concentrated HCl. This reaction occurred through an SN1 reaction, a unimolecular
nucleophilic substitution reaction. This was a First Order Rate Reaction where the rate of t pentyl
chloride was dependent only on the concentration of t pentyl alcohol. After the reaction was
completed, the products were achieved via 3 liquid liquid extractions and then after by simple
distillation. In the liquid liquid extractions a solute was transferred from one solvent to another. Then
in the simple distillation the miscible liquids or the solution, was separated by differences in boiling
points. After this the product was determined through infrared spectroscopy. Procedure: Isolation of
Crude Product A mixture of 22 ml ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the process, extraction and distillation techniques were used. The theoretical amount of t pentyl
chloride was 17.358g, while 15.78 g was the actual amount produced which gave a percent yield of
90.9%. An error occurred while performing the experiment, the filtered dried product in the distillation
process was placed in the wrong flask. Due to this that part of the experiment had to be redone and the
new filtered product had some aqueous solution in it, which caused the boiling point to be under the
specified temperature. The boiling point then was at 50 ℃ compared with the expected range of 79 84
℃. The IR spectrum used above was from another group s results. The experimental IR spectrum has
more prominent peaks in the 3000 cm 1 range compared to the expected IR spectrum. Nonetheless,
the experimental IR spectrum resembles the expected IR spectrum in the sense that the peaks are
closely around the same wavenumber range. This is probably due to the product being distilled at the
right boiling

The Skeletal System Of Human Body
Have you ever thought about how humans would be without bones? They would not be able to
function the way that they do now if it did not have bones. The skeletal system is a highly important
system in the human body, it functions as support, protection, and creation of red blood cells. This
system is composed of bones and joints, an average adult contains 206 bone and an average child
contains 270 bones because as a person grows the bones fuse together to create a single bone. The
skeletal system is divided in to two major category: the axial skeleton and the appendicular skeleton.
The axial skeleton has 80 bones in the midline axis which contains the bones of the head and the
trunk; while the appendicular axis has 126 bones which include the bones from the limbs, pectoral and
pelvic regions. There are only a few select bones that are mainly affected by the Paget disease these
include the pelvis and the tibia which belong to the appendicular axis; however, other bones that could
be affected are the femur, spine, skull, clavicle, and fibula.
Paget s disease, also known as Osteitis Deformans, this is a genetic disease that causes an abnormal
processes of breakdown, reabsorption and rebuilding of osteocytes. This abnormal process effects
focal bone remodeling and can lead to irregular structure and altered mechanical properties of the
bones themselves. The bones become weak and results in pain, arthritis, bone deformities and
fractures; however, it is still unclear of what the

Ever since I was eight years old, the dance studio has been my second home. I assiduously worked

Walker Percy, in his article The Loss of the creature , presents the case how preconceived notions vary
the way we, creatures , may perceive certain circumstances and experiences. He expresses his
concerns for blind conformity, which can create a symbolic complex in each creatures mind , causing

even knowing. For instance, Percy introduces in his ideas with the help of an example. He describes
the renowned landmark the Grand Canyon. He explains how the Gran Canyon; or, in my case,
Bolshoi, have already been lost just because of the set of predetermined ideas in the mind of the
sightseer or visitor. According to Percy, in his article The Loss of the creature (work) , he points out
that the highest point, the term of the sightseer s satisfaction, is not the sovereign discovery of the
things before him; it is rather the measuring up of the thing to the criterion of the preformed symbolic
complex (Percy 2) . The pre formulated concepts in the sightseer s mind produce a loss of sovereignty,

HIV In Adolescents
Shavon Q Frasier
Delaware Technical and Community College
Abstract
According to the CDC, In the United States the prevalence of HIV in adolescents from age 13 24 is
estimated to account for 22% of all new cases (cdc.gov 2016). Of those cases, the most new cases
occurred among gay and bisexual males. Furthermore young African American and Latino gay and
bisexual males have been affected in higher numbers than any other group. Addressing HIV in our
youth entails multiple avenues to curtail the rising numbers. Including, but not limited to, education,
tools for risk reduction, healthy decisions, effective communication, as well as treatment and care.
How did our nation s youth reach this point? How can change be implemented? The following will
discuss the trends and statistics on the prevalence of HIV in our youth as well as the efforts being
made to decrease the numbers of newly reported cases.
The HIV/AIDS epidemic in the United States among adolescents is a continuing upward trend despite
the emphasis on abstinence. Adolescents continue to participate in risky sexual behaviors. Youth age
13 24 accounted for more than 1 in 5 new HIV diagnoses in 2014 (cdc.gov 2016). An estimated 9,731

The Alpha Chains
When the alpha chains are deleted, the iron that is supposed to attach to the alpha chains which
contain a heme molecule becomes free iron. This is because the iron has nowhere to attach if its chain
is missing. This free iron can be dangerous to the body because of its toxic nature. If the heme
molecules are not binding, iron cannot be stored there and therefore be transported to the red blood
cells. This means that oxygen is not being transported to the hemoglobin protein. The hemoglobin
protein has to be released from the red blood cells and be released into the plasma by enzymes that
contain heme. After the enzyme release the protein, the red blood is destroyed and hemoglobin can
release oxygen into the bloodstream. With Alpha Thalassemia, the low functioning numbers of
hemoglobin are not enough to provide stable oxygen levels. If the levels are too low anemia is
developed and blood transfusions are given to provide health red blood cells and hemoglobin proteins
that can have alpha chains. The influx of new hemoglobin proteins allows for iron to have heme
molecules that are in the alpha chains to bind. This allows for hemoglobin proteins to increase and
numbers allowing oxygen to be successfully released into the blood stream. However, that still leaves
the free iron that did not have a heme molecule and alpha chain to attach to. This leads to high levels
of iron that were once low before the new hemoglobin proteins were delivered because the bodies
cannot produce

Averrhoa Carambola Essay
OSMOTIC DEHYDRATION OF STARFRUIT
Averrhoa carambola
INTRODUCTION
Star fruit, botanically called as Carambola, is a star shaped tropical fruit with sweet and sour flavor.
Malayan peninsula native Carambola is cultivated in many parts of Southeast Asia, Pacific Islands and
China for its fruits. Eventhough, abundant and plentiful, carambola is yet to gain popularity, especially
in the western world.
Scientific name: Averrhoa carambola. The genus Averrhoa includes two well known sorrels
(Oxalidaceae) family of fruiting trees, carambola.
Star fruit is a small, bushy evergreen tree that grows very well under hot, humid, tropical conditions.
The plant bears small lilac colored, bell shaped flowers in clusters which subsequently develop into

Ohio Prison Health Care Case Study
Ohio Prison Health Care Suit The Ohio Justice and Policy center documented a claim in 2003 for
three prisoner s Rodney Fussell, Gary Roberts, and James Love. The prisoners stated that they
obtained incompetent medical care. Although some may argue, they are prisoners and do not deserve
medical care, they still have the legal right to obtain it. These three men suffered from Hepatitis C, and
periodontal disease.
An Overview
Rodney Fussell was an inmate at Southern Ohio Correctional Facility, who suffered with Hepatitis C.
According to Hep C Hope, Hepatitis C is a contagious liver disease that can lead to serious problems
including cirrhosis and liver cancer. To be treated, it is necessary to be prescribed medication, before
the disease is too progressed. Rodney Fussell was told that he contained a high level of liver enzymes
for a long period, but had not received diagnosis until five years later. When Fussell realized that he
tested positive for Hep C, he asked to be transported to a clinic to receive a consultation, which the
prison denied. Gary Roberts was an inmate who was housed at London Correctional Institution, in
Ohio. Like Mr. Fussell, Roberts also suffered with Hepatitis C. Similarly, to Mr. Fussell, he also had a

  • 2. Rousseau s Discourse A FARMER S PLIGHT: AN ANALYSIS OF THE HACIENDA LUISITA CONTROVERSY ACCORDING TO ROUSSEAU S DISCOURSE ON INEQUALITY INTRODUCTION This paper aims to compare Rousseau s idea in his work Discourse on Inequality to the non ending controversy regarding Hacienda Luisita, while the aim of Rousseau s Discourse is to examine the foundations of inequality among men, and to determine whether this inequality is authorized by natural law. Inequality has always been a never ending trend topic in the Philippines, and we can see that there is still widespread inequality throughout the country today, defined in sociology as the existence of unequal opportunities and rewards for different social positions or statuses within a group or society. The Hacienda ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We can see political inequality through the exploitation of the poor, which is represented by the Farmers, by the rich, represented by the Cojuangco Aquino clan; this exploitation is present because of the rivalry in property between the two groups. The Cojuangcos, who owns the vast 6,000 hectare property, are the ones who control the people who work and live there. The wealth that they amass from its produce gives them the power to hold those who are deeply indebted to them in the palm of their hands. The lack of the workers ability to finance and sustain their fight for the right to own the land that they and their ancestors were cultivating continues to be the main problem. The unjust working conditions has been an issue for years, but had these landlords put their feet in the workers shoes, even for just a while, they would have heard and given the farmers what they were asking for a long time ago. To avoid the conflict, the Cojuangcos must lend an ear and open their eyes to what the workers are saying, and perhaps both parties involved would be able to communicate and gain benefits ... When our Mansa, Musa, made his journey to Mecca, he stopped by many cities along the way, and he gave out gold to many people along the route. He also did much work to help others, showing all these people his merciful kindness. He also built many mosques as he traveled. However, he went a little overboard because he gave out so much gold in Cairo that the worth of gold in Cairo dropped significantly and caused inflation. The economic crisis, he brought the people is still going on and it is very severe, we re assuming that it likely won t recover for another ten years or so. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Creativity In Amos Vogel s Film As A Subversive Art Introduction Creativity has been an inherent part of human experience since remote times when visual forms helped our ancestors to communicate leaving us with many recorded moments of their history. In a creative process multiple aspects bind together, things come out the intellect but also there are other states of consciousness and unconsciousness phenomena involved. A similar thing occurs in the contemplation of a piece, where we can have different interpretations, various sensations and opinions, but in one way or another through art humans develop common connections in between individual experiences. Art cultivates sensitivity and it can be used to explore the world in new forms that perhaps otherwise might not have been considered, allowing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 5. Hallway Hangers and The Brothers Essay In his research Jay Macleod, compares two groups of teenage boys, the Hallway Hangers and the Brothers. Both groups of teenagers live in a low income neighborhood in Clarendon Heights, but they are complete opposites of each other. The Hallway Hangers, composed of eight teenagers spend most of their time in the late afternoon or early evening hanging out in doorway number 13 until very late at night. The Brothers are a group of seven teenagers that have no aspirations to just hang out and cause problems, the Brothers enjoy active pastimes such as playing basketball. The Hallway Hangers all smoke, drink, and use drugs. Stereotyped as hoodlums, punks, or burnouts by outsiders, the Hallway Hangers are actually a varied group, and much ... A primary group is a small, relatively permanent, intimate, and unspecialized group that develops a sense of we ; a face to face group that entails close emotional ties. A type of group that is less characteristic of groups in modern society where impersonality and individualism tend to dominate (Charon p. 327). The Hallway Hangers know as a group that work is highly important in order to support them. The boys have all held summer time jobs. All of them, except for one of the members have pursued fulltime work, but none have been able to obtain meaningful employment. Every time one of them thinks they have a decent job, something happens and it doesn t work out for them. This type of firsthand experience in the job market further deflates any illusions they might have had about the openness of the opportunity structure (Macleod p. 164). In contrast, the Brothers as a group look forward to a more optimistic future where work is the central goal. For this group, work is an exclusively summer time affair, in fact only one member is on the job market full time (Macleod p. 167). This is one of the reasons why they still have a positive attitude towards the labor market, they have not been shut out or had a job fall through on them. As a group they may even discuss their goals for school and work in the future and this can lead to even higher ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Ice Hockey in Canada Essay Ice Hockey in Canada Ice hockey has in the last hundred years evolved to become international. Canada is in jeopardy of losing its six teams. Tradition run deep in all of the cities and also professional hockey teams create thousands of jobs and help out in the communities. Teams in the Canadian market are having trouble keeping their programs in the black because of higher taxes and a weaker Canadian dollar. In order for professional hockey teams in Canada not to relocate to United States, it is necessary for Ottawa to provide tax cuts for them. Professional hockey has been around in Canada for over one hundred years. Tradition runs deep in programs like the Toronto Maple Leaf s and Montreal Canadians, which have been located in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Seemingly, everyone recognizes that in Canada, Hockey is King (c1). These teams have made a home for themselves in their towns and if these two franchises are up rooted from their communities they may not be gained much of an advantage even with the lower taxes (Dryden 2). One of the fundamental problems with Canadian hockey teams competing with their American counterparts is that Canadian teams pay all of the player s salaries and travel are in American currency. However, all the revenue from ticket sales, concessions and advertising is in Canadian currency. American teams have an advantage over their Canadian counterparts because all the money that was created from ticket sales, concessions and selling advertising is one third more than what Canadian teams will make. This is because of a weaker Canadian dollar, 69 cents to one American dollar, means that Canadian franchises will always make one third less from basic franchise profits as long as the Canadian dollar stays the same. The teams are among Canada s fewest businesses that pay most of their salaries and expenses in U.S. dollars out of revenue earned in depressed Canadian dollars (May p 2). This is a problem because the weaker Canadian dollar makes it harder for these franchises to run day to day operations (Duhatschek 7). The result is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Adam And Eve Loss Of Knowledge Essay The tale of Adam and Eve, an infamous account in the book of Genesis, depicts man s original disobedience in eating of the Tree of Knowledge and serves as humankind s first archetype of the innate relationship between lost innocence and the attainment of knowledge. As portrayed in the story, God s severe punishment of Adam and Eve for consuming the forbidden fruit insinuates that it is wrong to desire knowledge, more specifically, the knowledge of humanity s potential for good and evil. The resultant loss of innocence from gaining this moral comprehension is all too frequently regarded as sinful, undesirable, and ultimately regrettable. • 21. Urban Sustainability And Its Impact On The Environment Introduction Urban sustainability is a very important topic that needs to be addressed and focused on so that cities and communities all over the world can change and reduce their harmful impact on the environment. In order to do so, communities must develop sustainably by focusing on how to manage resources in a way that guarantees welfare and promotes equity of current and future generations (Elmqvist, 2013). The impact of urbanization is only going to increase, so cities around the world need to find the means to do it in the most environmentally friendly and sustainable ways possible (Allen, 2009). Other speakers in the dialogue include an Athenian politician, one of Meno s slaves, and Socrates prosecutor Anytus, who is a friend to Meno. Meno wants to understand the broad definition of human virtues and while visiting Athens he initiates the dialogue on virtues with Socrates. The discussion begins with Meno inquiring from Socrates whether virtues can be learned. Meno argues that, according to the Georgian s, the attribute is defined differently by different people, and there is no common way to define it so as to apply it to all human beings. In response, Socrates argues that the Georgians do not understand the real meaning of virtue and in his opinion that some attributes are common to all human beings. Rather than staying in the safety of the North, Tubman made it her mission to rescue other slaves from bondage. However, in 1850, the Fugitive Slave Law was passed that stated that escaped slaves could be captured in the North and be returned to slavery. This made Tubman re routed the Underground Railroad to Canada, which prohibited slavery. These journeys were usually during the winter months to minimize the likelihood of being seen. Tubman also carried a rifle for protection and to ensure that her escapees would not lose their nerve. From 1850 to 1860, Tubman rescued an estimated 70 slaves in thirteen expeditions and gave an additional 50 to 60 fugitives successful instructions on how to escape, earning her the nickname the Moses of the Underground Railroad. Nicholas Winton s rescue missions were very different than those of Harriet Tubman. In December 1938, Winton visited a friend who was working with primarily Jewish, Czechoslovakian refugees in Sudetenland, the western area of Czechoslovakia under German control, when he heard that there were no organizations to deal with refugee children. He began writing letters asking governments to help these children, but only Britain and Sweden agreed to support him. Winton, along with some volunteers, forged travel documents, arranged foster parents for the children, and paid out of pocket for the transportation. The children boarded trains from Prague, Czechoslovakia across Germany to the Atlantic Coast. Then, they were transported across the English Channel to Britain where foster parents waited to pick up the children. After the children arrived in Britain, Winton had no contact with them. His rescue efforts ended on September 1, 1939, after Germany invaded Poland and closed off all borders under German control, starting World War II. In total, Winton managed to orchestrate eight transports and saved ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Narcissism And The Recent Advent Of A 1 Question Scale For my discussion paper this week I chose to look at narcissism and the recent advent of a 1 question scale to determine narcissism. In particular I will look at how this study relates to concepts discussed in Chapter 2 of our readings. The scale and its development is outlined in Development and Validation of the Single Item Narcissism Scale. My interest in this subject is sparked by interactions with a family member growing up, who among other things, could be construed as highly narcissistic. From Wikipedia: Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) is a personality disorder in which a person is excessively preoccupied with personal adequacy, power, prestige and vanity, mentally unable to see the destructive damage they are causing to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Reliability and validity seemed to be important concerns for the authors of this paper. They ran 11 different trials in order to rule out confounding variables and ensure that their one item scale was indeed positively correlated with actual narcissism. In total 2,250 participants were surveyed across a wide range of scenarios. In study number one participants were also asked to complete scales which are already known to measure narcissism such as the 40 item narcissistic personality inventory (NPI). This provides a way to cross check the results of their own SINS scale to make sure that it is valid. They found that SINS was positively correlated to the NPI with an R value of .40 and a p value of .001 Study 3 of this paper was used to access the reliability of the scale, that is to say, are the results of the SINS scale replicable? To accomplish this task 141 undergraduates from the University of Michigan took the SINS test online and then completed it again 10.9 days later in the presence of the authors of the study. The test retest correlation the authors found was r=.79. This is a fairly strong correlation, indicating that their scale is indeed reliable. In study 7 the authors were afraid that using an 11 point scale had caused some participants to undervalue their own narcissism because participants were unwilling to rate themselves so high. To remedy this situation the authors reduced the SINS scale to a 7 point scale and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Synthesis Of T-Pentyl Chloride Lab Report Introduction: The purpose of this experiment was to synthesize t pentyl chloride from the reaction of t pentyl alcohol and concentrated HCl. This reaction occurred through an SN1 reaction, a unimolecular nucleophilic substitution reaction. This was a First Order Rate Reaction where the rate of t pentyl chloride was dependent only on the concentration of t pentyl alcohol. After the reaction was completed, the products were achieved via 3 liquid liquid extractions and then after by simple distillation. In the liquid liquid extractions a solute was transferred from one solvent to another. Then in the simple distillation the miscible liquids or the solution, was separated by differences in boiling points. After this the product was determined through infrared spectroscopy. Procedure: Isolation of Crude Product A mixture of 22 ml ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the process, extraction and distillation techniques were used. The theoretical amount of t pentyl chloride was 17.358g, while 15.78 g was the actual amount produced which gave a percent yield of 90.9%. An error occurred while performing the experiment, the filtered dried product in the distillation process was placed in the wrong flask. Due to this that part of the experiment had to be redone and the new filtered product had some aqueous solution in it, which caused the boiling point to be under the specified temperature. The boiling point then was at 50 ℃ compared with the expected range of 79 84 ℃. The IR spectrum used above was from another group s results. The experimental IR spectrum has more prominent peaks in the 3000 cm 1 range compared to the expected IR spectrum. Nonetheless, the experimental IR spectrum resembles the expected IR spectrum in the sense that the peaks are closely around the same wavenumber range. This is probably due to the product being distilled at the right boiling ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. The Skeletal System Of Human Body Have you ever thought about how humans would be without bones? They would not be able to function the way that they do now if it did not have bones. The skeletal system is a highly important system in the human body, it functions as support, protection, and creation of red blood cells. This system is composed of bones and joints, an average adult contains 206 bone and an average child contains 270 bones because as a person grows the bones fuse together to create a single bone. The skeletal system is divided in to two major category: the axial skeleton and the appendicular skeleton. The axial skeleton has 80 bones in the midline axis which contains the bones of the head and the trunk; while the appendicular axis has 126 bones which include the bones from the limbs, pectoral and pelvic regions. There are only a few select bones that are mainly affected by the Paget disease these include the pelvis and the tibia which belong to the appendicular axis; however, other bones that could be affected are the femur, spine, skull, clavicle, and fibula. Paget s disease, also known as Osteitis Deformans, this is a genetic disease that causes an abnormal processes of breakdown, reabsorption and rebuilding of osteocytes. This abnormal process effects focal bone remodeling and can lead to irregular structure and altered mechanical properties of the bones themselves. The bones become weak and results in pain, arthritis, bone deformities and fractures; however, it is still unclear of what the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I was never blind to the fact that I lacked some of the required abilities a ballerina should have. The idea of me becoming a professional dancer was greatly questioned by my ballet teachers but this did not stop me. After a ballet summer intensive in New York City, I received an unexpected email. I was invited to study at the prestigious Bolshoi Ballet Academy in Moscow, Russia. This school is known as one of the best ballet schools worldwide. Walker Percy, in his article The Loss of the creature , presents the case how preconceived notions vary the way we, creatures , may perceive certain circumstances and experiences. As a matter of fact, he emphasizes that we are biased without even knowing. For instance, Percy introduces in his ideas with the help of an example. He describes the renowned landmark the Grand Canyon. He explains how the Gran Canyon; or, in my case, Bolshoi, have already been lost just because of the set of predetermined ideas in the mind of the sightseer or visitor. According to Percy, in his article The Loss of the creature (work) , he points out that the highest point, the term of the sightseer s satisfaction, is not the sovereign discovery of the things before him; it is rather the measuring up of the thing to the criterion of the preformed symbolic complex (Percy 2) . The pre formulated concepts in the sightseer s mind produce a loss of sovereignty, that the own sightseer is not even able ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 37. The Alpha Chains When the alpha chains are deleted, the iron that is supposed to attach to the alpha chains which contain a heme molecule becomes free iron. This is because the iron has nowhere to attach if its chain is missing. This free iron can be dangerous to the body because of its toxic nature. If the heme molecules are not binding, iron cannot be stored there and therefore be transported to the red blood cells. This means that oxygen is not being transported to the hemoglobin protein. The hemoglobin protein has to be released from the red blood cells and be released into the plasma by enzymes that contain heme. After the enzyme release the protein, the red blood is destroyed and hemoglobin can release oxygen into the bloodstream. With Alpha Thalassemia, the low functioning numbers of hemoglobin are not enough to provide stable oxygen levels. If the levels are too low anemia is developed and blood transfusions are given to provide health red blood cells and hemoglobin proteins that can have alpha chains. The influx of new hemoglobin proteins allows for iron to have heme molecules that are in the alpha chains to bind. This allows for hemoglobin proteins to increase and numbers allowing oxygen to be successfully released into the blood stream. However, that still leaves the free iron that did not have a heme molecule and alpha chain to attach to. This leads to high levels of iron that were once low before the new hemoglobin proteins were delivered because the bodies cannot produce ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ohio Prison Health Care Case Study Ohio Prison Health Care Suit The Ohio Justice and Policy center documented a claim in 2003 for three prisoner s Rodney Fussell, Gary Roberts, and James Love. The prisoners stated that they obtained incompetent medical care. Although some may argue, they are prisoners and do not deserve medical care, they still have the legal right to obtain it. These three men suffered from Hepatitis C, and periodontal disease. An Overview Rodney Fussell was an inmate at Southern Ohio Correctional Facility, who suffered with Hepatitis C. According to Hep C Hope, Hepatitis C is a contagious liver disease that can lead to serious problems including cirrhosis and liver cancer. To be treated, it is necessary to be prescribed medication, before the disease is too progressed. Rodney Fussell was told that he contained a high level of liver enzymes for a long period, but had not received diagnosis until five years later. When Fussell realized that he tested positive for Hep C, he asked to be transported to a clinic to receive a consultation, which the prison denied. Gary Roberts was an inmate who was housed at London Correctional Institution, in Ohio. Like Mr. Fussell, Roberts also suffered with Hepatitis C.
