Difference Between Absolute And Nietzsche

Escaping Modernity: Freedom and Happiness at the End of History An argument exists that there is a
difference in the conception of Hegel in the relationship of agency and the absolute with that of
Nietzsche and Heidegger. My argument now is that the difference in Hegel s conception of the
relationship of agency and absolute is fundamentally different from that of Nietzsche and Heidegger in
that, according to Hegel, we can, through reason fathom the absolute and though we constitute it, we
can never be the absolute. Nietzsche and Heidegger, on the other hand, locate the absolute in human
where they demand that the whole (worthy) human subsumes the absolute. My thinking is that
Nietzsche is concerned with the master ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In that way, for both Hegel and Nietzsche, the intention and the act are joined into one. In this case,
the act simply does not become bodily movement it is the intention s fulfillment and it comes to be the
constitutive and performative event (84). Robert Pippin summarized that notion in his essay Lightning
and Flash that his subjective construal at whichever moment during or ahead of the action possesses

A Research Study On Adolescent Suicide Essay
Facilitating Connection and Saving Lives
The purpose of this paper is to detail a group aimed to provide support for lesbian, gay, and bisexual
(LGB) adolescents. The paper begins by examining literature related to adolescent suicide rates, the
lack of personal and community resources for teenagers, and adolescent development and mental
health. The paper will then address the methodology, purpose, and goals of the group. The paper will
address the role of the leader. He/she will utilize an Adlerian theoretical orientation and will be
involved, directive, and authentic. The leader will attempt to facilitate social relatedness and corrective
emotional experiences for group members. The paper will briefly review group evaluation, and it will
examine potential ethical/multicultural issues that this leader and group may encounter. The paper will
conclude by detailing activities that will be utilized throughout the six weeks of the group experience.
Literature Review
Adolescent Suicide and Distress
One young person age ten to 19 takes his/her own life every 90 minutes (Gould et al. as cited in Kitts,
2005, p. 622). Russell and Joyner revealed that adolescents who identify as gay or lesbian are two
times more likely to attempt suicide than straight adolescents (as cited in Kitts, 2005, p. 624). The risk
factor for suicide for gay and lesbian adolescents is not their sexuality, but psychosocial distress they
experience due to their sexuality (Kitts, 2005). Adolescents

Critical Analysis Of Star Wars

Critical Analysis of Star Wars Released in 1977, the original Star Wars movie quickly became the
highest grossing film of all time and it changed the way people thought of filmography. With its
unique special effects and storyline, it created a new era of Hollywood movies. It became a huge
blockbuster and eventually spawned a new universe that now spans several decades. The films, now
numbering six with three more being made, have a fan base of millions of people. In order for a film
(series) to have that large of a fan base, the fans must be able to relate to the film. The Star Wars films
are collectively a modern mythological narrative, meaning that it represents ... Show more content on

This enables the dominant race to grant privileges to some while at the expense of others. Entrance
into this group is usually exclusive to one type of person (Kendall). In totalitarian and dictatorial
instances, such as in Star Wars, the line between the group in power and all others is bold and easy to
see. Those who are not members of the group in power are subject to discrimination and have fewer
rights and privileges in his or her society. The Star Wars films provide both symbolic and concrete
evidence of this racial disparity. George Lucas use of color throughout the films is essential in the
development of the narrative as well as to emphasize the progression of the racial inequalities and
prejudices between humans and aliens. The color progression from The Phantom Menace to The
Return of The Jedi acts as a sort of meter pertaining to the collapse of the Republic and the rise of the
Galactic Empire. The first film chronologically, The Phantom Menace, employs bright, happy colors
to convey hope and life. The vibrant colors of Naboo, the underwater home of the Gungan s, and the
interior of many key buildings are all made up of colors that are synonymous with (relative) peace and
innocence. As the Star Wars prequels progress to A New Hope, the bright colors are overtaken by
greys, blacks, and reds.
The warm color palette is synonymous with democracy, diversity, and

The World s Greatest Success Story
Samsung is perhaps the world s greatest success story. Started in 1938 in Taegu, Korea by Lee Byung
Chul, Samsung has sprouted from a small company under Japanese rule, into the one of the world s
leaders in technology and innovation. It is a result of the Confucian principles embraced by the
company and its presidents and executive decisions and eagerness to adapt to the rapidly changing
world. Principles including leading honorably and with strength, emphasising the ruler subject
relationship, Chun tzu, making personal relationships a priority in a business setting, in addition to
keeping accordance with Jen,a warm heartedness and compassion that allows to one to want to better
humanity (Lander). In addition to Confucianism, Samsung has learned to innovate, create demand,
and learn from other companies successes and failures. With this combination of old world Confucian
principles and the ability to diversify and evolve, Samsung has experienced intense growth and
success, beating out Apple and Panasonic and gaining a foothold in the digital age(Park and Barjot).
According to Park and Barjot, Samsung s success came from two areas: Confucian ethics instilled into
Samsung s workforce and strong executive leadership, specifically Lee Byung Chul and to a lesser
degree Kun Hee Lee. Lee Byung Chul, the founder of Samsung, came from an upper class family of
landlord and due to this, Lee was able to receive a strong Confucian education in his youth, which

The Movie American Sniper
War movies were always a big part of the film industry from big action movies like Rambo to a
history movie like Pearl Harbor. American Sniper is no different. American Sniper directed by a
legend, Clint Eastwood combined with great actors and modern technology made the movie a pinnacle
of a romantic action war movie. Throughout the movie American Sniper many different scenes had
played a major role in shaping the audiences mind on war and what it is like postwar. One of the most
important scene in the movie, is when Chris Kyle played by Bradley Cooper finally decides to join
one of the forces. In the scene prior to the scene I am going to dissect, Chris Kyle and his brother had

Throughout the entire scene, high key light only existed when people are singled out, whether it is one
instructor or one trainee. The high key light helps identify who is who, and helps the audience
remember certain people. However low key lights are used when there are more than one focus in a
single frame. Whether it is the entire class or all the instructors standing together. You can also see
when the low key light is used, it makes the subjects look tougher and scarier, it makes the subjects
look fearless and make the audience fear them. This helps enforce the idea of unity and teamwork
which is the most important thing in real life Navy Seal training. The lighting makes us feel like if we

Decline In Voter Turnout
The decline in voter turnout at the turn of the century has always been a concern for politicians and
scholars alike. The very fact that voters are responsible for changing or keeping the country s
leadership means that this development should be a concern not only to a few individuals but also to
the whole nation. The government, political parties, and focus and interest groups have tried to find
ways to increase the motivation to vote while easing the voting process. However, these methods have
been less successful than expected. While the motivation to vote relies on factors such as the attributes
of voters, political socialization, and electoral laws and rules, the impact of political parties and their
aspirants supersedes any strategy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
148). In essence, every voter has some political beliefs and values that often influence the way he or
she views political parties, candidates, and ideals. Some conservative people tend to vote to
Republican, while some people tend to vote Democratic. Voters have their own political attitudes, and
these attitudes determine how society goes, whom they are voting for, and what kind of political
parties they are supporting. Many elements have the ability to contribute the political attitudes, such as
family, gender, education, income, religion, age, race, and etc. According to Ginsberg et al., the first
place where people start forming their beliefs on politics is their families and society (148). This idea
explains the reason some areas in the U.S. have more Democratic representatives while others have
the majority of their residents being Republicans. The fact that most people possess these ideals means
that in the event that the candidates in a ballot do not have the qualities that a particular group of
voters is looking for, these voters will not partake in voting. When the impact of race in political
socialization is factored in, it becomes increasingly evident that some people of one race are unlikely
to spend their time voting for a candidate who does not represent their beliefs pertaining to racial
issues. For instance, African Americans perception of the extent of racism is different from that of
whites. This has a significant bearing on the motivation of voters from each divide to participate in an
election (Ginsberg et al.

Analysis Of The Poem The Bay Of Naples
When I was looking through 17th 18th century European artwork in the Norton Simon Museum, there
was one piece of art that really stood out to me. That beautiful art piece was the Bay of Naples by
Claude Joseph Vernet. This piece stood out to me because of the beautiful scenery that is displayed
and the deep serenity the piece gives me when I look at it. The Bay of Naples is a painting of a
landscape that captures the daily life of the bay. The materials used for this painting was oil on canvas.
Claude Joseph Vernet made a painting that brings your attention to the foreground. In the front, there
is a boat being boarded. Some of the people that are not boarding the boat are standing by the sea. In
the sea, some boats are sailing off in the distance. One of the boats in the distance is a large boat that
gives the illusion of being three dimensional. The form gives this illusion because of the reflection in
the sea. If you look in the lower right, you can see the light from the sun illuminating the sky. This
light is hidden behind a large mountain that also has a three dimensional form. There is also lots of
texture in the painting. Some texture is seen in the mountains and ground giving a rough look, and
some is seen in the sea in the form of ripples. On top of the mountain in the lower right, there is
greenery that has an illusion of being light and feathery. In that mountain, there is an arch that makes
the other side visible. In the far distance, you can see a faint

Jack Nicholson Characteristics
Movies have played a large role in American society for a over a century. It is almost an obsession
compared to some parts of the world and because of this there have been many larger than life
individuals come about in the movie industry. In today s Hollywood, international ticket sales have a
massive influence on the movies that get made and how they are marketed (internationalstudentguide)
People become so iconic by their superb acting skills even if the movie itself is not so superb. Jack
Nicholson is a true example of an iconic actor. The skills he possesses and demonstrates on the screen
are beyond doubt some of the best his time. What has made Jack Nicholson so iconic is taking on so
many challenging roles that other actors will shy away from. Nicholson is brilliant with his roles of
men that are angry, crazy, or the antagonist. Many still go to see a film just because he is in it, even
being the antagonist because he is so widely praised for his skills on the screen.
When considering Jack Nicholson, one of the first things to think about is his use of anger in many of
his movies. Not only just anger, but the intensity he brings with his anger is what makes you believe it.
Anger takes over him, every inch of Nicholson is full of rage, you can see it in his eyes, hear it in his
voice, and see it with his body. Jack can be show anger in different ways, for example, in One Flew
Over The Cuckoo s Nest Jack plays a criminal who pleads insanity and ends up in an institution

Mel Brooks Essay
Biography
[edit] Early life
Born Melvin Kaminsky in Brooklyn, New York, U.S., to Polish Jewish parents Maximillian Kaminsky
and Kate Kittie Brookman. Brooks grandfather, Abraham Kaminsky, was a herring dealer who
immigrated in 1893. He and his wife Bertha raised their ten children on Henry Street on the Lower
East Side of New York City.
His father died of kidney disease at age 34. A year later, in 1930, Kittie Kaminsky and her sons Irving,
Leonard, Bernard and Melvin were living at 365 S. 3rd St. in the Williamsburg neighborhood of
Brooklyn, NY.

Brooks developed a repertory company of sorts for his film work: performers with three or more
Brooks films to their credit include Gene Wilder, Dom DeLuise, Madeline Kahn, Harvey Korman,
Cloris Leachman, Ron Carey and Andréas Voutsinas. Dom DeLuise has appeared in six of Brooks 12
films, the only person with more appearances being Brooks himself.
In 1975, at the height of his movie career, Brooks tried TV again with When Things Were Rotten, a
Robin Hood parody that lasted only 13 episodes. Nearly 20 years later, Brooks mounted another
Robin Hood parody with Robin Hood: Men in Tights.
In 1980 Brooks became interested in producing the dramatic film The Elephant Man (directed by
David Lynch). Knowing that anyone seeing a poster reading Mel Brooks presents The Elephant Man
would expect a comedy, he set up the company Brooksfilms. Brooksfilms has since produced a
number of non comedy films, including David Cronenberg s The Fly, Frances, and 84 Charing Cross
Road, starring Anthony Hopkins and Anne Bancroft, as well as comedies, including Richard Benjamin
s My Favorite Year.
The 1980s saw Brooks produce and direct only two films, the first being History of the World Part I in
1981, a tongue in cheek look at human culture from the Dawn of Man to the French Revolution. As
part of the film s soundtrack, Brooks, then aged 55, recorded a rap entitled It s Good to Be the King ,

B. Dubois And Booker T. Washington Essay
W.E.B. DuBois and Booker T. Washington The end of the Civil War was followed almost immediately
by a new wave that would see the African Americans face great suffering and discrimination. As
newly freed slaves, African Americans were presented with a dilemma to either curve a new niche in a
society that once viewed and treated them as mere properties than humans. It was during these
difficult times that two key figures in the African American History rose as paramount leaders of two
sharply contrasting philosophical camps. The Massachusettian William Edward Burghardt and the
Virginian Booker T. Washington, both held two completely contrasting proposals about the best
approach for African American to overcome and thrive in the mist of their suffering and racial
discrimination. Although their approaches greatly differed, both of these noble men shared a common
goal in uplifting the black community in history. The aim of this paper is to argue in the contrasting
philosophies of these two key figures in the history of African America. Booker T. Washington was
born in around 1950s in Franklin County of Virginia and spent the better part of his childhood as a
slave. Following the emancipation, majority of the black community including Washington ware
convinced that obtaining a formalized education was the best approach to improve their lifestyles and
social class. The Blacks had a fairly limited opportunity to access education due to the prevalence of
social segregation.

The Cry Of The Children By Elizabeth Barrett Browning
Elizabeth Barrett Browning s The Cry of the Children is a poignant look into the horrid practice of
child labor that took place in the mines and factories of 1840 s industrial England. Browning paints
such a vivid, disturbing picture that she aroused the conscience of the entire nation. A new historicist
perspective into this poem will help understand why Browning decided to take a stand and speak up
for these children through her work. The poem opens with, Do ye hear the children weeping, O my
brothers, ere the sorrow comes with years? This one sentence embodies the whole work and does a
good job drawing in the reader. Equally as important is the use of O my brothers as it relates to the
intended audience, of which Elizabeth Browning is part of. That is the upper class. If the tone were
one of reprimand for the treatment of children, instead one of a sense of shared guilt; it s possible it
may not have been so accepted by her peers. Elizabeth Barrett Browning was already a published poet
at the time she wrote Cry of the Children in 1843. In 1838, The Seraphim and Other Poems appeared,
the first volume of Elizabeth s mature poetry (Everett, 1). If fact, Browning was said to have written
poetry as early as age six. Her collection of poetry written during her childhood years is one of the
largest of all English writers. One notable poem written when she was just fourteen was called The
Battle of Marathon: A poem. This achievement at such a young age was possible

Morte D Arthur Research Paper
Morte d Arthur, published in 1485, is a story written by Sir Thomas Mallory. In essence, Morte d
Arthur is tells the story of King Arthur and his Knights at the Round Table. Arthur, who is son of King
Uther Pendragon but was raised by another family, takes his rightful place as king when, as a boy, he
is able to pull the sword called Excalibur from the stone. In order to relate this story to todays time,
Arthur s childhood is the center of attention. After Arthur was born, he was given away to other people
to be raised, not by his biological parents. Arthur s being raised by different his non biological parents
is similar to adoption in real life, and how it affected him and how it effects children in real life, will
be the main focus. Another connection between the story and real life is that the general community

The Different Adaptations of Dracula
Ever since Bram Stoker wrote his entrancing novel people have been adapting it, and the story is one
of the most reproduced ideas in history. Each innovation of the novel influences the story for the
creators own purpose, and in doing so generates another version of Dracula. Count Dracula has
become an infamous character in history, and has been captured in many different mediums, such as
the Japanese anime and manga series Vampire Hunter D, which follows Draculas son D in his
adventures (Kikuchi). However, one of the adaptations that endures in modern minds is the 1992 film
by Francis Ford Coppola, Bram Stoker s Dracula. This version of Dracula was meant to be loyal to the
novel, but it diverged from the original in many ways.

Indeed Mina s attraction to Dracula in the film leads to one of the defining alterations between the
film and movie adaption, the humanization of Dracula. The subtitle of the 1992 film is Love Never
Dies, (Coppola) which is the love between Dracula and his wife Elisabeta, who is the spitting image of
Mina, and is also represented by Winona Ryder. Throughout the film Dracula tries to win over Mina in
order to regain his love with Elisabeta, who commits suicide after false rumours of Draculas death are
feed to her by priest. The betrayal by the priest and his wife s death, makes Dracula curse god, and
therefore become a vampire. The background story of the character Dracula makes the monster almost
understandable, and the audience begins to sympathize with Dracula. (0:33 5:38)
Even more, the nauseating cruel looking (49) creature described in the novel is turned into a charming
young Gary Oldman. Although Coppola starts the film with a brilliant representation of Stoker s
monster, he seems to embellish on the younger Dracula (12:44 13:00). In the novel Dracula becomes
younger by gorging himself with blood, but Jonathan Harker describes him like a filthy leech,
exhausted with his repletion (83). Coppola makes the monster more of a human, and the audience can
feel for his and Mina s love affair. Also, Jonathan seems distant from Mina, and this makes the love is

The Marriage Roles Of Elmer And Lavera Enacted
For Carolyn, the combination of faith and equality started in her earliest memories. In Chicago, the
family attended a Mennonite church that was intentionally interracial (Huffman). The church has both
white and black pastors and a strongly diverse congregation. As mentioned before, early experiences
with racial equality also colored Carolyn s thoughts on gender equality. Though heavily exposed to
issues of racial equality at that age, gender equality was still far off. We grew up with the idea that the
man was the head of the household. That would have just been accepted in our family, in our church,
in our relatives...that s just how it was (Huffman). The marriage roles Elmer and LaVera enacted came
not only from cultural norms, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But I think that s also, in some ways, been the hardest part. Because it moves so slowly. ...If there ever
would have been anything that would have made me not be a Christian, or give up my faith, it would
have been [gender issues] because so many people made it seem like you couldn t be a strong woman
or a woman that believed that you had equal voice, equal whatever if you were a Christian. They
would pull these ugly verses out of the Bible and tell you them. It took me a long time to kind of
figure out why or maybe to justify my position, I m not sure which why I think what I think. Again, I
think it s related to racial issues for me and gender issues. I really believe with all my heart, from
everything that Jesus says in the Bible, that Jesus thinks we re all alike. He says over and over again
things about caring for the widows and the poor and the lepers and the downtrodden and the outcasts. I
just think that message of respect and equality and inclusiveness and love for all is there. To me, it s
one of the central things about what it means to be a Christian. That love and acceptance for
everybody....It s also why, at this point, I feel the same way about homosexuality. Because, to me, that
s part of that. Yep, Jesus would accept us all. (Huffman)

female pastors, including one of Carolyn s sisters, women in leadership, and does not

Thomas Paine The Crisis No. 1
The Revolutionary Era was a turbulent time in American History. The voices of revolution rang from
all over the colonies. King George III was seen as a tyrant, Britain s taxes were oppressing, and the
colonist s sought political freedom at last. However, this movement towards freedom did not spur
overnight. Leaders such as Thomas Jefferson and Thomas Paine used their skills as an author and
orator to persuade others to join the revolution. Thomas Paine s The Crisis No. 1 boosted soldier s
morale and urged them to continue bravely in their fight against Britain. Thomas Jefferson s
Declaration of Independence formally removed Great Britain from their rule over the colonies.
Jefferson used powerful and moving statements to list the reasons for the colonies separation.
Although Paine and Jefferson s writing aided in the persuasion of political leaders; many colonists
were not able to read these powerful political works. Had the writing of Paine and Jefferson been
easily accessible for colonists, Paine s The Crisis No. 1. would have caused a greater effect on the
colonists perspectives than Jefferson s Declaration of Independence.
During the American Revolution, morale was low and many colonists wanted to give up their fight
against the British and return home. General George Washington wanted to encourage his troops to
remain strong in their fight. In order to do this, General Washington had Thomas Paine s The Crisis
No. 1. read to his soldiers. Thomas Paine wrote The Crisis

The International Civil Aviation Organization
1. Introduction A conference was initiated by the US President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1944, in
which all the allied powers as well as some neutral governments convened at Chicago to discuss the
future of civil aviation. The expectations from this conference, which came to be known as the
Chicago Convention, were high even though the timing of the convention wasn t perfect. The Chicago
Convention proposed the formation of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), which
later became a part of the UN in 1947. The ICAO contains universal rules covering airspace

Fifty four countries attended the Chicago conference and although it did not quite achieve all of its
goals, it did provide the groundwork for the founding of the ICAO in 1947. The Soviet Union was
invited to the conference but did not attend. Many of the countries which the Allies were at war
Germany, Japan, Austria, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Italy and Finland were not invited and were
not represented but it was the absence of the USSR which was mainly felt as the USSR represented
the largest land territory of the world and were expected to play an important role in after war
arrangements. This negative attitude of the USSR was perhaps a sign of the cold war mistrust and
isolation and that the secretive USSR was not ready to open its air space to international cooperation.
The official reason given for the non participation though was that among the nations taking part in
the conference, there were some countries like Switzerland, Spain, and Portugal which for a number
of years have carried on a hostile policy towards the Soviet Union. 3. Outcomes of the Convention
The atmosphere of the conference was one of uncertainty and some anxiety, which was felt by all

Epic Poetry By Homer And Catullus Essay
From ancient Greek to Roman literature, styles and genres in writing changed drastically. The Greeks
were adamant on showing their extensive knowledge of myth, often referencing the most obscure
myths. The gods mentioned in their poems often had crucial roles necessary for developing the plot, or
they were the reason the story began at all. The Romans however were very educated, and showed this
in their works by referencing older Greek literature or authors instead of direct myths. Another drastic
difference in the divergent genres, namely epics and lyrics, is the expression of love, which through
Homer and Catullus, shows us how love can be expressed as erotic, familial, or as a love of place by
the protagonists and secondary characters, despite whether it is the primary or secondary theme. In
Greek literature a prominent author is Homer, whom we don t know if actually existed or if Homer is
a pseudonym for a collective group of writers. Homer is popular for writing epic poetry, which
follows the heroic journey of the protagonist through a lengthy narrative. In epics, the poet focuses on
the main character s search for kleos, the only thing a proper hero requires. In the Iliad, while the
search for kleos is a major theme, love is also portrayed in many different respects. The love shown
between Hector and his wife Andromache is one very strong example of the theme of love. At this
time, love was not something people strived to achieve. Marriages were often used to

Heteronormativity In Let It Go
The Disney cinematic universe is riddled with an obscene heteronormativity that appears to be
subverted in Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck s, Frozen. The entirety of this film removes itself from the
particular expected narrative of its counterparts. This is particularly clear in the title song of the film,
Let it Go. Sung by queer icon Idina Menzel, this song seems to divulge from the implications of
heteronormativity and showcase clear insinuations of a coming out narrative . Using the works of
Somerville, Freud, Wittig, and Butler this paper will aim to follow the protagonist through the song
and her queer narrative. Unbound by the typical narrative of heterosexual love and freed by self
expression, this song allows for a clear queer reading ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Using Somerville s concepts of heteronormativity, it is possible to experience the expectations of Elsa
s parents and society. She sings, don t let them in, don t let them see, be the good girl you always have

monarch. In Subjects of Sex, Gender, Desire, Judith Butler speaks of norms of intelligibility, namely
what is accepted as normal by a society. Elsa has hidden away and refused to let people see within her,
she hides so as not to be presented as freakish or monstrous. She is unable to fully present herself in a
way that would be viewed as normal or expected so she instead removes herself from the view of her
society. Butler also mentions the concept of the heterosexual matrix and the expectations of a
heteronormative society. Elsa lives in a society that instructs her to hide the aspects of herself that do
not conform to the expected norms, she alters the perception of herself so as to fit into the mold of the
heterosexual matrix. She escapes it only by accepting aspects of herself that are non normalized and
inherently odd. After escaping this society she realizes the freedom in full expression of self, I m never

The Role of Environmental Monitoring at Symrise
Sources of potential microbial contamination can exist in all parts of a manufacturing plant, from the
air and water supply to the operator working on his latest assigned batch of material. Ineffective
cleaning programs can potentially result in pathogenic outbreaks in a manufacturing facility. An
environmental monitoring program is typically used to help a company determine how effective their
sanitation program is. The FDA recommends an environmental monitoring program designed to detect
areas of pathogen harborage and to verify the effectiveness of cleaning and sanitizing programs in
preventing cross contamination (2008). Even though pathogen hits are rare in the production facility at
Symrise, environmental monitoring is necessary to document the state of control of the plant to ensure
food safety and to confirm that good manufacturing processes are met. Failure to adhere to the
guidelines set forth by an established environmental monitoring program would be a violation of

Japanese And Japanese American Museum
Extra Credit Assignment: Japanese American Museum On my visit to the Japanese American Museum
I learned plenty of History from a culture that I would have never pictured myself going into depth
with. I learned of the roots of the Japanese, religion, and injustices that they faced throughout decades.
Within all this I also learned what was the communities way of communication. To begin with, the
growing root for Japanese American communities was from 1908 1924. In Hawaii plantation owners
thought that Japanese women should migrate since they believed the work that women provided was
up to par with what they expected. In the Mainland s men were usually single due to laws prohibiting
them from marrying white women. A rising of a anti Japanese movement called the Gentlemen s
Agreement arose in 1907 8 involving California and Japan, making it so that no more Japanese
immigrants would be allowed to migrate to U.S soil, but a loophole was found that made it possible
for women to join their families across states. Due to traditional marriages of the Japanese custom
marriages would be planned. The way this process went was an exchange of pictures and letters and
eventually the wife s moved the U.S with their future husbands but were married legally in Japan.
Next, the Japanese immigrants culture was being Buddhist, a religion that offers a spiritual path for
transcending the suffering of existence. Some of them integrated Shinto, which was an ancient
religion in Japan and the

##hagavad Gita As Duty And Virtue Ethics In Bina Gupta s...
What makes a person virtuous? What is virtue ethics and how does one display virtue ethics? These
questions have been asked and debated over and over again, each time resulting in different answers.
Bina Gupta attempts to answer this question of the ages in his article Bhagavad Gita as Duty and
Virtue Ethics by declaring, So, who is a virtuous person? A virtuous person knows what she is doing;
chooses to act for herself; and acts through an expression of a stable and mature character. In The
Mahabharata translated and abridged by R.K. Narayan, there are many of the cast of thousands that
grow in their character and display virtue ethics. Each of these characters develops through trial and
situations they are thrust into or unwisely place themselves in. There is one character that stands out
and clearly displays virtue ethics throughout the entirety of the narrative. This character is Draupadi,
the daughter of Drupada and wife to the Pandava brothers. Draupadi has a firm sense of her beliefs,
acts for herself, upholds the values of the culture, and holds others to the same standard of virtuous
behavior. Draupadi has a strong sense of what she believes are ethical decisions and attitudes, and she
lets these beliefs guide her actions. Dhritarashtra, the king of Hastinapur, said of Draupadi Daughter,
even in this trial you have stood undaunted holding on to virtue. (65)

How were the people convinced so thoroughly about China becoming the world ruler ? The Ming
dynasty, reigning from 1368 to 1644, is one of the greatest empires in the history of China. It was the
time when China had reached its pinnacle of glory by developing the most advanced navigation
technologies, largest and the most powerful military system, defence mechanisms, warfare tactics,
improving trade as well as social relations with the western world by cultural and material exchanges
such as books, literature, silk and porcelain. It was China who invented the paper making methods,
gunpowder, compasses and printing technique. These inventions preceded the development of science
and technology to its peak. It was only then that the western world acquainted itself to such
advancements. The Great Wall of China is a marvellous architecture, completed in the Ming dynasty,
which protected China from its northern invaders, especially the Mongols. Other such constructions

The Theory Of Biological Psychology

how it can create obstacles when it comes to treating and trying assist reintegrating service members

Today there are many careers and areas of expertise that can greatly benefit from the foundational
knowledge of biological psychology. The first and most prominent field that comes to mind that can
and does benefit from the knowledge provided by biological psychology is the medical field. The
reason for this is due to the fact that in the medical field one must have a deep understanding of the
communication between the brain and the rest of the body. During surgery if a connection is severed
the repercussions could be egregious, the patient could potentially be paralyzed, and the medications
administered could have a negative effect on not only the body but also the biochemistry of the brain

Analysis Of The Book Maus
Adolf Hitler stated, The Jews are undoubtedly a race, but they are not human. (2) Adolf Hitler was the
man who started the Nazi Regime which became the biggest massacre in the world. The massacre was
known as the Holocaust in which millions of Jews were killed. Maus tells the story of father who was
a Polish Jew at the time of the Holocaust. Maus is also portrayed visually with high angle shots, low
angle shots, curved lines, shadows and rule of thirds. Art Spiegelman drew his graphics in specific
way, which was to grab the reader s attention more to the pictures rather than the words because a
photo can explain a thousand words. There are two underlining stories in Maus. One story is telling
how Vladeck survived Auschwitz and the other story is how Art, Vladeck s son, gets his story from his

With emphasis on values of justice, hospitality, mercy, and service, the College s liberal arts core curriculum provides the necessary basis for leadership and the knowledge and skills in a wide range of professions. While the academic focus is paramount at Mount Aloysius, the College also considers spiritual, cultural, social and personal growth as essential elements in the development of the student (Mount Aloysius College, 2016). This enables the dominant race to grant privileges to some while at the expense of others. Entrance into this group is usually exclusive to one type of person (Kendall). In totalitarian and dictatorial instances, such as in Star Wars, the line between the group in power and all others is bold and easy to see. Those who are not members of the group in power are subject to discrimination and have fewer rights and privileges in his or her society. The Star Wars films provide both symbolic and concrete evidence of this racial disparity. George Lucas use of color throughout the films is essential in the development of the narrative as well as to emphasize the progression of the racial inequalities and prejudices between humans and aliens. The color progression from The Phantom Menace to The Return of The Jedi acts as a sort of meter pertaining to the collapse of the Republic and the rise of the Galactic Empire. The first film chronologically, The Phantom Menace, employs bright, happy colors to convey hope and life. The vibrant colors of Naboo, the underwater home of the Gungan s, and the interior of many key buildings are all made up of colors that are synonymous with (relative) peace and innocence. • 8. Decline In Voter Turnout The decline in voter turnout at the turn of the century has always been a concern for politicians and scholars alike. The very fact that voters are responsible for changing or keeping the country s leadership means that this development should be a concern not only to a few individuals but also to the whole nation. The government, political parties, and focus and interest groups have tried to find ways to increase the motivation to vote while easing the voting process. However, these methods have been less successful than expected. While the motivation to vote relies on factors such as the attributes of voters, political socialization, and electoral laws and rules, the impact of political parties and their aspirants supersedes any strategy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 148). In essence, every voter has some political beliefs and values that often influence the way he or she views political parties, candidates, and ideals. Some conservative people tend to vote to Republican, while some people tend to vote Democratic. Voters have their own political attitudes, and these attitudes determine how society goes, whom they are voting for, and what kind of political parties they are supporting. Many elements have the ability to contribute the political attitudes, such as family, gender, education, income, religion, age, race, and etc. According to Ginsberg et al., the first place where people start forming their beliefs on politics is their families and society (148). This idea explains the reason some areas in the U.S. have more Democratic representatives while others have the majority of their residents being Republicans. The fact that most people possess these ideals means that in the event that the candidates in a ballot do not have the qualities that a particular group of voters is looking for, these voters will not partake in voting. When the impact of race in political socialization is factored in, it becomes increasingly evident that some people of one race are unlikely to spend their time voting for a candidate who does not represent their beliefs pertaining to racial issues. For instance, African Americans perception of the extent of racism is different from that of whites. That beautiful art piece was the Bay of Naples by Claude Joseph Vernet. This piece stood out to me because of the beautiful scenery that is displayed and the deep serenity the piece gives me when I look at it. The Bay of Naples is a painting of a landscape that captures the daily life of the bay. The materials used for this painting was oil on canvas. Claude Joseph Vernet made a painting that brings your attention to the foreground. In the front, there is a boat being boarded. Some of the people that are not boarding the boat are standing by the sea. In the sea, some boats are sailing off in the distance. One of the boats in the distance is a large boat that gives the illusion of being three dimensional. The form gives this illusion because of the reflection in the sea. If you look in the lower right, you can see the light from the sun illuminating the sky. This light is hidden behind a large mountain that also has a three dimensional form. There is also lots of texture in the painting. Some texture is seen in the mountains and ground giving a rough look, and some is seen in the sea in the form of ripples. • 14. The Cry Of The Children By Elizabeth Barrett Browning Elizabeth Barrett Browning s The Cry of the Children is a poignant look into the horrid practice of child labor that took place in the mines and factories of 1840 s industrial England. Browning paints such a vivid, disturbing picture that she aroused the conscience of the entire nation. A new historicist perspective into this poem will help understand why Browning decided to take a stand and speak up for these children through her work. The poem opens with, Do ye hear the children weeping, O my brothers, ere the sorrow comes with years? This one sentence embodies the whole work and does a good job drawing in the reader. Equally as important is the use of O my brothers as it relates to the intended audience, of which Elizabeth Browning is part of. That is the upper class. • 25. The International Civil Aviation Organization 1. Introduction A conference was initiated by the US President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1944, in which all the allied powers as well as some neutral governments convened at Chicago to discuss the future of civil aviation. The expectations from this conference, which came to be known as the Chicago Convention, were high even though the timing of the convention wasn t perfect. The Chicago Convention proposed the formation of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), which later became a part of the UN in 1947. Fifty four countries attended the Chicago conference and although it did not quite achieve all of its goals, it did provide the groundwork for the founding of the ICAO in 1947. The Soviet Union was invited to the conference but did not attend. Many of the countries which the Allies were at war Germany, Japan, Austria, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Italy and Finland were not invited and were not represented but it was the absence of the USSR which was mainly felt as the USSR represented the largest land territory of the world and were expected to play an important role in after war arrangements. This negative attitude of the USSR was perhaps a sign of the cold war mistrust and isolation and that the secretive USSR was not ready to open its air space to international cooperation. The official reason given for the non participation though was that among the nations taking part in the conference, there were some countries like Switzerland, Spain, and Portugal which for a number of years have carried on a hostile policy towards the Soviet Union. 3. • 26. Epic Poetry By Homer And Catullus Essay From ancient Greek to Roman literature, styles and genres in writing changed drastically. The Greeks were adamant on showing their extensive knowledge of myth, often referencing the most obscure myths. The gods mentioned in their poems often had crucial roles necessary for developing the plot, or they were the reason the story began at all. The Romans however were very educated, and showed this in their works by referencing older Greek literature or authors instead of direct myths. Another drastic difference in the divergent genres, namely epics and lyrics, is the expression of love, which through Homer and Catullus, shows us how love can be expressed as erotic, familial, or as a love of place by the protagonists and secondary characters, despite whether it is the primary or secondary theme. In Greek literature a prominent author is Homer, whom we don t know if actually existed or if Homer is a pseudonym for a collective group of writers. Homer is popular for writing epic poetry, which follows the heroic journey of the protagonist through a lengthy narrative. In epics, the poet focuses on the main character s search for kleos, the only thing a proper hero requires. In the Iliad, while the search for kleos is a major theme, love is also portrayed in many different respects. The love shown between Hector and his wife Andromache is one very strong example of the theme of love. At this time, love was not something people strived to achieve. Marriages were often used to ... The entirety of this film removes itself from the particular expected narrative of its counterparts. This is particularly clear in the title song of the film, Let it Go. Sung by queer icon Idina Menzel, this song seems to divulge from the implications of heteronormativity and showcase clear insinuations of a coming out narrative . In Subjects of Sex, Gender, Desire, Judith Butler speaks of norms of intelligibility, namely what is accepted as normal by a society. Elsa has hidden away and refused to let people see within her, she hides so as not to be presented as freakish or monstrous. She is unable to fully present herself in a way that would be viewed as normal or expected so she instead removes herself from the view of her society. Butler also mentions the concept of the heterosexual matrix and the expectations of a heteronormative society. Elsa lives in a society that instructs her to hide the aspects of herself that do not conform to the expected norms, she alters the perception of herself so as to fit into the mold of the heterosexual matrix. She escapes it only by accepting aspects of herself that are non normalized and inherently odd. Ineffective cleaning programs can potentially result in pathogenic outbreaks in a manufacturing facility. An environmental monitoring program is typically used to help a company determine how effective their sanitation program is. The FDA recommends an environmental monitoring program designed to detect areas of pathogen harborage and to verify the effectiveness of cleaning and sanitizing programs in preventing cross contamination (2008). Even though pathogen hits are rare in the production facility at Symrise, environmental monitoring is necessary to document the state of control of the plant to ensure food safety and to confirm that good manufacturing processes are met. Japanese And Japanese American Museum Extra Credit Assignment: Japanese American Museum On my visit to the Japanese American Museum I learned plenty of History from a culture that I would have never pictured myself going into depth with. I learned of the roots of the Japanese, religion, and injustices that they faced throughout decades. Within all this I also learned what was the communities way of communication. To begin with, the growing root for Japanese American communities was from 1908 1924. In Hawaii plantation owners thought that Japanese women should migrate since they believed the work that women provided was up to par with what they expected. In the Mainland s men were usually single due to laws prohibiting them from marrying white women. A rising of a anti Japanese movement called the Gentlemen s Agreement arose in 1907 8 involving California and Japan, making it so that no more Japanese immigrants would be allowed to migrate to U.S soil, but a loophole was found that made it possible for women to join their families across states. Due to traditional marriages of the Japanese custom marriages would be planned. The way this process went was an exchange of pictures and letters and eventually the wife s moved the U.S with their future husbands but were married legally in Japan. Next, the Japanese immigrants culture was being Buddhist, a religion that offers a spiritual path for transcending the suffering of existence. These questions have been asked and debated over and over again, each time resulting in different answers. Bina Gupta attempts to answer this question of the ages in his article Bhagavad Gita as Duty and Virtue Ethics by declaring, So, who is a virtuous person? A virtuous person knows what she is doing; chooses to act for herself; and acts through an expression of a stable and mature character. In The Mahabharata translated and abridged by R.K. Narayan, there are many of the cast of thousands that grow in their character and display virtue ethics. Each of these characters develops through trial and situations they are thrust into or unwisely place themselves in. There is one character that stands out and clearly displays virtue ethics throughout the entirety of the narrative. This character is Draupadi, the daughter of Drupada and wife to the Pandava brothers. Draupadi has a firm sense of her beliefs, acts for herself, upholds the values of the culture, and holds others to the same standard of virtuous behavior. Draupadi has a strong sense of what she believes are ethical decisions and attitudes, and she lets these beliefs guide her actions.
