The Beauty in Ordinary Life
Vittorio De Sica s The Bicycle Thieves (1948) and Francois Truffaut s The 400 Blows (1959) are both
recognized as highly influential films of their specific era that introduced an innovative way of cinema
world wide. With the Italian Neorealism intention of using a more realistic approach to film, The
Bicycle Thieves highlighted post war Rome s cultural society and economy by following the journey
of an ordinary man and his family s efforts to survive. The 400 Blows, being a French New Wave film,
went against the traditional French cinema and practiced the auteur approach through its style of
autobiography of the director Truffaut, himself, as a troublesome child. Similar ... Show more content

defeated by poverty. Antonio s shoulder gets blatantly hit by the vehicle that is driving through the

Language Is Used For Social And Cultural Communication
Oral Language: Language is used for social and cultural communication. Students enter school with a
language base (standard or non standard English) that teachers must build on. Oral language
communication is deeply rooted in learning to read and write. Oral language development lays the
foundation for students development of phonological awareness skills. Teachers can build literacy
experiences around students language skills.
Teaching Tips
Rich teacher talk: during reading and writing teachers used a variety of uncommon words to build
students listening vocabulary. Teachers extend children s comments to be more descriptive and
grammatically correct. Teachers should listen and respond to all comments students make during
literacy interactions.
Story book reading: Read stories, poems and information books during whole and small group.
Teachers support students learning through discussion before, during and after reading. Teachers use
repeated reading of favorite books to build on students retelling and memory.
Alphabet Knowledge: Students understanding that written spelling represents spoken word is crucial
to beginning reading attainment. Learning the letters of the alphabet requires many meaningful
experiences with written language. Teachers should begin teaching alphabet letters using
environmental print and children s names. Although some letters should not be taught together,
children don t learn letters of the alphabet in any particular order or by drilling

Metaphors Of Ephesians 1
In Ephesians 1 verse 11 it means that if you are a believer, God has assigned you to His chosen life.
That we have been chosen as Gods portion and He has appointed you to Himself. It also means that
God has chosen us as His inheritance. This is one of the many blessings which we have as believers.
God does this according to His purpose and His will. God is never forced by anyone or anything
outside of Him. Everything is under His control and is part of His plan. Every flower and plant God
controls its birth, it s growth and its death. Laws such as gravity and physics are under His control.
God never makes mistakes! He is in control of all creation and nothing is by chance. There is nothing
outside of His control. When I read this verse, it means to me that I was planned to be on this Earth,
by God. I was thought about even before my mom and dad were born. That God picked my mom and
dad just for me. God has a plan for my life and I should be looking for His will in my life and to live
it. God controls everything that happens to me and will happen to me. God knows my future and my
destiny. Ephesians 1 verse 12 talks about Gods work of the Father. God does everything for a purpose
and to glorify Himself. God does this so that all created beings and events will bring him glory. God is

The Time Period Of The Cold War
The time period of the Cold War was a breeding ground for ideological change. It was an era filled
with fear and paranoia, not simply of the unknown, but of neighbours, friends, and family. World War
II, the atomic bomb, the Cold War, made it hard for Americans to continue their optimism historian
Stephen Ambrose commented. This paradigm shift is evident in the texts from the era, and by studying
them we come to understand the values and atmosphere of the time and the effect those values had on
the texts. The Cold War began after the end of World War II, after the atomic bombing of Hiroshima
and Nagasaki by the United States of America; that continued until the early 90s with the dissolving of
the Soviet Union. The two sides of the Cold War were the Western Bloc and Eastern Bloc, which are
terms given to the alliances formed by the USA and NATO; and the USSR and the Warsaw Pact
respectively. Named for its lack of major conflict or bloodshed between its two super powers, the USA
and USSR, despite the wars that occurred that those super powers supported, the Korean War and the
Vietnam War. After the bombing and subsequent end of WW II, the world was reeling from the
unprecedented destruction it caused as well as the implications and effects it would have on not only
war but society itself. During this time both a nuclear arms race and the space race occurred.
Primarily the Cold War was a power struggle between the USA and USSR, and their conflicting ideals
of capitalism

School Tryout Essay
There has long been a disagreement about whether schools should hold tryouts for competitive sports
teams, for the reason that many people hold varying opinions on this issue. Despite the fact that an
incredible amount of citizens believe that students should be allowed to participate in athletics without
trying out, numerous people disagree with that position. Some people argue that tryouts are a
traditional way to choose the best students on the spot, or instead, tryouts could result as an emotional
breakdown. But the truth of the matter is that students should be trying out for a competitive sport
team. One main reason is that having tryouts allows students to push to try harder, and learn life
lessons. The last reason is, if it weren t ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Without tryouts, students wouldn t learn that not everything is handed to them for free. This is why
schools need to permit tryouts.
Another reason schools should execute tryouts is because if it weren t for tryouts, there would be too
many students on a team, and it can be chaotic. According to Dr. Allen Goldberg, he states, If there s
too many kids on one team, kids won t get the fair amount of playing time that they deserve.
(Goldberg, 2015). Skeptics believe that every student (either an advanced or average youth athlete)
should get the equivalent amount of playing time during a game, yet many disagree with the opinion.
Sharing play time with average students is unfair to children who are highly skilled in this certain
sport. For example, a spontaneous youth athlete can work very hard during practices, while other
athletes could slack off during the process. It is unfair to the athletes who are concentrated during
practices to share play time with students who do not work for the win at all. They deserve the
appropriate amount of playtime because they ve worked so hard during practices for the particular
game. This is also very huge because coaches want the most skilled children on the team so they can
achieve the gold. This is why tryouts should be handled with competitive sports teams. Additionally,
Budgets aren t large enough to cover all costs players need. (Matz, 2015). This statement shows that

Statement Of Purpose For Journalism
Ezra Pound once said that literature is news that stays news. For me, literature is the very essence of
the enduring power of any great work of art. In journalism industry, it plays an important and
fundamental role in news reporting and communication. I deem literature is the art that uses language

The Portrayal of Socially Destructive and Over-Ambitious...
Richard, the main character of the Shakespeare s play, Richard III is portrayed as socially destructive
and politically over ambitious. His destructive potential is depicted by the way he relates with the
other protagonists in the play and also by what he confesses as his intentions. Richard s political
ambition is revealed through his strategic calculations based on the order of birth in his York family
which puts him third away from the throne. Ahead of him is his elder brother, George Clarence, a
barrier which will have to eradicate. His brother, King Edward, is another political barrier, by simply
being alive, in power and equally by being the father of the two young princes . Richard s creates a
political mistrust between his two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whereas the senecan tyrant rages against virtue in the name of ambition, or lust, R.B.Pierce argues
that Richard, like the formal vice, Iniquity (III.i.82), thrives by an ironic detachment from all the
standards of traditional morality including the claims of the family (Robert.B.Pierce, 1971:90 91)
Shakespeare in his play, Richard III, added a physical deformity to incite people to see his plays. A
both deformed and mobile character was found to be a scary monster. To begin with, he invites the
audience to his unhappy life despite the fact that the no one pays attention to him because others
neither find him handsome nor sexually appealing. Richard is not eye catching due to physical
deformity which he vividly describes as the cause of his misfit, and therefore acquires himself the
status of a victim. No one pays attention to him because others neither find him handsome nor
sexually appealing. But he magnetizes the audience, makes them complicit of his own deeds and dares
it to look away. However, as he unfolds his intentions, towards the end of the first soliloquy, the
audience is awestruck at how many sordid deeds he is capable of. We are also rendered helpless for we
cannot warn his potential victims of the danger which awaits them, but we are captives of Richard s
rhetorical language that generates a special

Manifest Destiny Transcendentalism
The Foundation for Manifest Destiny
Scholars have outlined how Transcendental thought was foundational for the idea of Manifest Destiny
(Johannsen 12). Yet, a more complex relationship between Transcendentalism and Manifest Destiny is
revealed when looking at the amenability between Emerson s views on self reliance and the 19th
century Manifest Destiny doctrine. Indeed, America s commitment to Manifest Destiny seems to
require the nation to embrace the independence characteristic associated with Emerson s self reliance.
However, Emerson s condemnations of conformity, reliance on property, and preoccupation with the
future reveal incompatibilities between the two intellectual teachings.
Before assessing the degree of harmony between Emerson s self reliance and Manifest Destiny, an
understanding of Manifest Destiny s historical background is necessary. Information from historian
Robert Johannsen s essay The Meaning of Manifest Destiny provides much of the needed context.
John Louis O Sullivan originally penned the term in 1845 to refer to the belief that the United States
was guided by a providential destiny, in other words, that the nation had a preordained, God
sanctioned mission to fulfill (Johannsen 10). The idea of Manifest Destiny was initially used to
provide grounds for the American annexation of Texas (Johannsen 7). Within the same year, O
Sullivan supported a different territorial expansion on the grounds of America s Manifest Destiny for a
second time. The

Comparison Of Count Dracula In Bram Stoker s Dracula And...
Dracula is the infamous vampire, that readers were first introduced to by Irish author Bram Stoker in
1897 when they read his novel Dracula (Stoker). The author conveys the story of Count Dracula, a
mysterious being that is half man, half vampire that sucks blood from the neck of his victims to stay
alive (Stoker). This novel is an outstanding masterpiece of work, which is why it has been a prototype
for various movie releases over the decades, such as Nosferatu, Horror of Dracula, Dracula A Love
Story, and Bram Stoker s Dracula ( Dracula (Universal Classics) ). The hope is when a movie is based

He cannot come into a house unless invited or walk in water and his favorite meal is human blood
(Stoker). While these traits are consistent in both the novel and the movie there are differences
(Stoker). Starting with the novel, it describes Count Dracula s shadow coordinates with his body, yet
in the movie, his shadow works separately from his body movements ( Dracula (Universal Classics) ).
The next modification of Count Dracula s character in the novel is, he cannot be in or near the sunlight
or it will kill him, however, in the movie, he meets Mina in the daytime and it does not harm him
(Bram Stoker s). Then, in the novel, Dracula is a purely evil, terrifying blood hungry monster that
wreaks havoc on anyone he meets and feels the need to take life or end life with his arch nemesis
being with anyone who wants to preserve life (Stoker). But in the movie when he meets Mina on the
streets of London, he pursues a courtship with her and he begins to develop feelings for Mina (Bram
Stoker s). When he proclaims his love for her and refuses to condemn her to the life of a vampire, he
is no longer a vile, evil monster (Bram Stoker s). These modifications to Count Dracula s character in
the movie make the audience see him as a vulnerable, loving man with feelings for a woman who

Saint Thomas Aquinas As A Man With An Unearthly Intellect...
Torrell Review Saint Thomas Aquinas is known by most as a man with an unearthly intellect.
Throughout his brilliant life, he produced many works that have helped defend the Catholic church s
position against many atheistic arguments, specifically materialism. Because of his gifted intellect, at
times, many may fail to recognize that in order for one to have such gifts, there needs to be a desire
and firm commitment in their spiritual life to submit to the will of God. In Jean Pierre Torrell s
proclamation of Aquinas spiritual life, Saint Thomas Aquinas: Spiritual Master, he addresses the
importance and explains Aquinas transcendent mind in two sections: A Trinitarian Spirituality and
Man in the World and Before God. This explanation is done is a similar style to Aquinas himself, in
which, he writes in an ontological order so that the later context can be perfected by the earlier and
visa verse. This overview takes aim and clearly orientates Aquinas understanding of Nature, humanity,
human society, politics, and fellowship through communication with God and each other. Essentially,
one can find that Aquinas thought is not only rooted in the mystical teachings of the Catholic faith but
is very practical and applicable to the physical and metaphysical worlds. In order to proceed with
further explanation, it is import to give a summary of Aquinas s spirituality and theology, as Torrell
does. The reason being, as Torrell puts it, Spirituality is one of the vaguest terms

company. First, it indicates the requirement of a total rewards system for the company. Then, it
formulates a competitive strategy and explains it. Since the communication of a strategy is as
important as the strategy itself, the paper includes a communication plan of the strategy. And last but
not least it studies devising a competitive pay structure.

Social Media Communication And The Power Of Online...
In the world of technology communication has become easier than ever. The world has now shrunk
from a vast populated land to a network of communicating individuals living in a global village.
People from all over the globe have come closer together and distances have decreased to the extent
that an individual is merely a click away.
In this ever growing network of people a new theory has emerged, the idea of 6 degrees of separation.
The idea behind this is that between you and any another person in the world is only a chain no longer
than six people. This emphasizes the significance of online communication and the way it has made
the world a whole lot smaller.
This is the power of social media and the developments in online communication. A happening in one
part of the world reaches to the second part in a matter of seconds. Imagine if that news or happening
was about you. The significance of this technology is the ease it provides. Using this tool to your
advantage can give you a large number of benefits.
Social Media Marketing brings global fame to your name.
This is your ticket to international level fame. Your company or your name could be known
throughout the globe with millions of followers and fans. Millions of people can access these sites
where people come to communicate online and express their views. Once you step into the world of
the social media marketing all of these people become your potential prospects. Your services are

Logic In Garuda Indonesia
A. INTRODUCTION
It is necessary for an archipelago country like Indonesia to equip its inter islands mode of
transportation with airlines. Garuda Indonesia Airways (GIA) is a state owned company which
provide airline service with Fly Hi (efficient effective, loyalty, customer centricity, honesty openness,
integrity) as its corporate value (Garuda Indonesia 2014). It is important for a service company,
especially as a public transport provider, to shift the management concept from G D logic to S D logic
for a sustainable business. As stated by Vargo and Lusch (2004, 2008) (cited in Enquist, Camen and
Johnson 2011, p.220), a business based on S D logic is essentially customer oriented and relational. S
D logic defines service as the application of operant resources (knowledge and skill) to operand
resources (such as natural resources) for the benefit of (and in conjunction with) another entity, as part
of an exchange process. S D logic emphasizes that both company and customers co create the value.
The company acts as value facilitator, while the customers also participate in generating the value that
will benefit both parties. On the contrary, G D logic underlines only the operand resources and the
outputs (Enquist, Camen and Johnson 2011).

Moisture can be gained or lost from the air based conditions from the surrounding environment or
how the pinewood is stored. As water is soaked into the pine wood the wood will start to contract due
to all the moisture it has gained, if the pine wood is freshly cut from the pine tree and is exposed to air
the wood will immediately begin to lose moisture and the wood will not contract at this point of time.
Pine wood is cheap and very affordable to buy from hardware stores and other stores that supply pine
wood. Pine wood is readily available in hardware stores, timber yards, and pinewood suppliers.
The advantages of pine wood is it s cheap and it s a renewable resource. Pinewood is fast growing in
comparison to other timbers. Pine wood is readily available from hardware stores, timber yards, and
pine wood suppliers. Pine wood is a soft wood and can easily be marked by even a finger nail. Pine
wood is very easy to work with and it can be cut radially to make more use of the tree. Pine wood is
also fairly lightweight.
The disadvantages of using pinewood is that it is not long lasting and pinewood deteriorates rapidly
meaning becoming progressively worse when not used or stored properly. The best way to finish of
pine wood furniture is to put on a water proof coat and then apply varnish for a smooth finish.
Pine trees tend to be more sustainable than the other species of slow growing

also etched on the coffin. Since a circle has no beginning or an end, this shape represents a
philosophical idea of eternity. The way the snake bites its own tails reveals a concept of self
consumption (82), as Maud Ellmann explains in The Hunger Artists (1993), the snake could stand for
circulation, self starvation, or imprisonment, all of which contribute to Clarissa s tragedy (82). The
root cause of Clarissa s tragic life is her inability in obtaining autonomy of her life. The society
Clarissa lives in objectifies women to trade for material goods and force them to develop to fulfill
their greed. In The Rape of Clarissa (1982), Terry Eagleton claims that in this society death is indeed
the only place of inviolable security

How Is The Roman Republic Democratic
The Roman Republic (509 B.C. 27 B.C.) lasted 482 years, and was a democracy, but exactly how
democratic was it? A democracy is a type of government where the main power is given to the people.
In a democracy, fair elections are held, the people are active, and the same laws apply equally to all
people of the democracy. The Roman Republic was fairly democratic because, all men could vote, and
the people had the final say in the government and military, however, there were fairly undemocratic
parts of the Roman Republic; one being the fact that the voters were disenfranchised due to the people
with more power s votes counted more.
One aspect of the Roman Republic that made it truly democratic was that all men could vote. That
included the poor and freed slaves. Furthermore, as stated by Professor Fergus Miller, Every adult
male citizen, unless, specifically disqualified, had a vote, and there was no formal exclusion of the
poor. Free slaves could also vote... This clearly shows that the Roman Republic was, in fact,
democratic because voting rights are extremely important in a democracy and everyone (with the
exception of women) could vote. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As stated in The Histories by Polybius, There is, however, a part left to the people (the Assemblies),
and it is a most important one. It is the people in the Assemblies who grant office to those who deserve
it through elections. The Assemblies also have the final say in passing or repealing laws, and most
important of all is that they make the final decision on the question of peace or war. This suggests that
the Roman Republic was very democratic because the people, do, in our modern day society, what a
president would. In summary, people had the final say in the government, making the Roman
Republic exceedingly

Evaluation Of The Paediatric Neurosurgical Patient
Key Points
1. Approach to the paediatric neurosurgical patient is different because of age related changes in
neurophysiology and cranial development.
2. The signs and symptoms of raised intracranial pressure in paediatric neurosurgical cases are age
specific.
3. Blood loss due to surgery or tumor bleed into the cavity constitutes a major fraction of total blood
volume in the paediatric population.
4. Capnography is the most feasible and safer method to monitor venous air embolism in children.
Introduction
The majority of tumors (60 70%) in pediatric age group occur in the posterior fossa. The reason
behind propensity to occur in the posterior fossa has not been elucidated till date. Lesion in the
posterior fossa may be neoplastic, developmental and vascular processes requiring surgical
intervention. By far, the most common posterior fossa tumors of childhood are medulloblastomas,
ependymomas and astrocytomas. Medulloblastomas are the most common malignant brain tumor in
children comprising 20% to 25% of all pediatric brain tumors. The median age at diagnosis is
approximately 6 to 9 years. Most of tumors occur in midline and frequently found associated with
hydrocephalus. Success with surgical intervention has become possible because of improved
understanding of physiology, advances in imaging and microsurgical techniques, excellent anaesthetic
techniques available, advances in perioperative care of the patient. These in turn have improved the
survival and quality of

Geeky Vs Abigail Hinchy Summary
In the case WALGREENSs Co v. ABIGAIL E. HINCHY , Hinchy an Indiana woman sued Walgreen
Co., a national pharmacy chain, for violating her rights under the Health Insurance Portability and
Accountability Act (HIPAA). This case is a violation of privacy, which makes it a privacy tort. The
right of privacy is defined as an individual s legal right, not explicitly provided in the United States
Constitution, to be left alone and live life free from unwarranted publicity (Study.com). The case
revolves around the release of her personal prescription information to her ex boyfriend, who was
involved with one of Walgreen s pharmacists at the time. A jury heard evidence from the trial that

The Theme Of Death In Disney Movies
The Circle of life The Lion King was definitely not the first Disney movies to contain death, but it was
the first to have a central theme around it. Children still sing The Circle of Life on repeat, however
back they never really think about the meaning behind the song, it was just another catchy Disney
song to a six year old. In this classic song people are taught about the fundamentals of death and how
its just one big circle. Death is a necessary part of life, world religions revolve around it, and it drives
people to accomplish more in life. One of the most common appearances of the topic death is in
religion. Holy books such as the Bible, the Vedas, and the Tripitaka, show many different views on
what death is and what happens to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the first reasons death is so important is because without death earth would have reached its
carrying capacity along time ago. Alan Watts a famous british philosopher once said If one person
dies, it is in a way honorable, because he s making room for others ( ). Watt s said that dying was
honorable which is very true. Through death current generations are leaving room for the next
generation and their contributions to the world. Improving the world is one of the main goals of
humans and many find comfort in knowing, as Jeffrey Kluger wrote in his Time Magazine Article,
that the world you re exiting is at least a bit richer than the one you found when you arrived ( ). One of
the most fulfilling things for a person to know before they die is that they have had some sort of
impact on the world around them, whether it be through the environment, animals, or the people
around them, it helps people feel like their death was more meaningful if they know they left a legacy
behind. Alan Watts once said that death is the source of life. We see this when the leaves fall from the
trees and they mold and wrot creating humus from which more plants can grow ( ). All around things
die but in the end death makes way for future

The Between Cultures And Cultures
The deferments between cultures It is great to be familiar with the cultures of any country because
they are reflecting the nature and culture of people across country. The most amazing thing in the
knowledge of civilizations is that you will see that there is partnership between countries and others in
some of the habits and traditions. Perhaps you may wonder yourself why these people do this thing or
how it had come to this tradition, etc. As an example of functions in Asia to look alike in some habits I
will talking about this point in this article. The Europeans left their similarity in the traditions and all
the nations of the African continent, there s thing had in common you may see in the customs,
traditions or be in the arts, therefore when the aspirations of the people in any country will find the

is true and in the end, when the people of the country liters that were taking about the news will
change your opinion about this country and the reason is that you have to meet with a member off this
country. When I stared researching this subject and after stay when I finished some personal
interviews with international students from different countries, I fund that there is what is common in
the customs and traditions. Many information has been taken from them and learned

How Did John Lomax Influence Modern Popular Music
Introduction
Throughout this discussion I will be making a series of arguments that support the changes to modern
popular music that were induced by John and Alan lomax. As the work they achieved is vast, I have
broken it down into various sub categories to facilitate better analysis.
Academic
Being initially raised in the presence of cowboys it comes as no surprise that John Lomax became
interested in cowboy ballads from a young age. His parents believed that education was important and
sent John to college for a year in 1887. With his new found qualification, John became a Principle and
teacher. In 1895 John went on to further his education by studying a Bachelor Degree at the University
of Texas, signing up for double the amount of classes. In 1897 John graduated with a major in English
literature. From this evidence it seems very reasonable to suggest that John Lomax was an academic.
It was during this time John showed his ballad collection to an English professor, but it was not seen
as being something worthy of academic pursuit. John, disappointed, burned his whole ballad
collection. In 1906 he went on to study at Harvard ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It can also been seen how new forms of music was formed by their influence. It seems reasonable to
suggest that skiffle would never have developed in the 1950s if it were not for the dissemination of
songs by certain artists the Lomaxs had discovered. Ledbelly songs, for example, were covered by
artists such as Lonnie Donegan, whom had huge influence in this new genera of music themselves.
For example, iconic artists such as John Lennon, Jimmy Page and Mick Jagger all started in Skiffle
bands. Many artists of this time were coving songs by artists that would not, I suggest, have be heard
if it were not for the Lomaxs involvement in disseminating and promoting

Homeless People Could Be a Great Resource
Have you ever felt so angry when you gave someone the money that you worked very hard to earn,
and then he or she wasted it on some unacceptable purposes? Yes, it has been one of my first lessons
since I immigrated to the United States. During January of 2012, most of the weekdays, my brother
gave a homeless man some quarters or one dollar when we were going to work. This homeless man
stood in an intersection and begged for charity from the public. However, my brother met him at a
convenient store, and witnessed him buying some lotteries. Should this homeless man spend his
begging money on gambling or on daily necessities such as foods and a place to sleep? Another
example is a homeless man who bought three houses and had four wives with some children from
public charity has been charged for tax problems. These men are a part of the large population of
homeless citizens in the United States. According to the National Alliance to End Homelessness, the
amount of homeless is roughly estimated to be between 2.3 million and 3.5 million people. That is
approximately 1 in 100 people living without a home or living on the streets every night with no job,
no car, and no responsibilities. Obviously, we need to figure out a way to fix these homeless problems.
Many experts have discussed and suggested uncounted solutions. However, we could easily fix the
homeless problem by gathering them and using them as a resource. As I mentioned, homeless people
could be a great resource. Just

The Outsider By Albert Camus
Albert Camus novel The Outsider follows a young French Algerian, Meursault, who lives his day to
day life detached from the rest of the world. Along with his indifference towards others, Meursault has
alienated himself from society with his absurdist ideas and blatant honesty. Camus has structured the
novel into two parts. In Part I we see Meursault s routines, habits and general reactions to daily events
around him. At the end of Part I Meursault kills an Arab man which eventually leads to his murder
trial. Part II shows the murder trial and Meursault s death sentencing. A common theme found within
The Outsider is Absurdism. Camus wanted to show how Man s constant search for meaning in life is
pointless. Through foreshadowing, Camus is able to represent Absurd ideas found within the novel.
The idea is first subtly represented in Part I and only upon critical investigation can it be seen again in
Part II.
Camus has chosen to portray the absurdity of Meursault s emotional detachment and lack of empathy
early on in The Outsider. The novel begins with Meursault s mother s death. He accounts for the
incident in a matter of fact manner by shortly stating Mother died today. Or maybe yesterday, I don t
know (9). This controversial reaction and lack of remorse becomes one of the main factors used
against him later on in the novel. Camus has crafted this statement to shock the reader. It forebodes
that the novel and its main character may not be ideal to our views. The fact that

Western Views of Women in Islam Essay
Before venturing into the ideals and movements of Islamic feminism, it is important to recognize
some of the biased views Westerners often take when it comes to women in Islam. Because of the
portrayal of women in the Arab world through pop culture and the media, some Westerners may
believe that Islam creates a society in need of modernity. The concepts of religious government are
also foreign to the Western world. Feminists often focus on the practice of veiling women in Islamic
tradition as a law made to minimize the importance of women as citizens. It is important for us to
recognize where our biased views exist, and what sorts of root assumptions we make about women in
Islam.
The truth is, Islamic culture ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many Muslim women desire Western feminists to accept women s right to choose instead of being
encouraged to follow a western model of liberation. Nationally known Islamic theologian Riffat
Hassan says: Koranic law does give women many rights, to own property, to be independent
financially. They can keep their own names (when they marry). At the same time, what has happened
is a lot like Judaism and Christianity. The law has developed within a patriarchal framework. If the
Koran were properly implemented, there wouldn t be any discrimination against women (star trib, p.
1).
Much of the appeal of Islam is its structure. Islam, like Catholicism, gives a place and a role to
everyone, which in turn, gives a sense of security to each member. Many women find freedom in the
structured life of Islam. Some women view customs such as veiling, as a way to distinguish
themselves and their Islamic identity. Their lives are ordered by putting their spiritual lives first,
praying five times a day, and finding unity within their community. Many women look at the Western
world and are discouraged by the divorce rate, the number of workaholics, the increased crime and
child abuse. Often the structure and strict nature of the Arab world seems more appealing than the
loose and chaotic world of the west.
In the book Modernist and Fundamentalist Debates in Islam: A Reader , chapter 14 is titled The rights
of women .

Forensic Science In The Twentieth Century
Criminal investigators use forensics science to answer the who, what, why, how, when, and where
factors in a crime investigation. It uses scientific methods to describe, infer, and reconstruct events
from the small pieces of evidence found during a proper investigation. Scientists and law enforcement
have used forensics for over 120 years, but especially more in the twentieth century: major countries
like the United States, France, and the United Kingdom have been using forensics as a mean of
identifying criminals either by photography or DNA fingerprinting. Shows, books, and other
popularized fiction emphasize the scientific aspects of an investigation but do not show the real
limitations of court handed down from the U.S Constitution. There have been new discoveries made
and are still being made today for the advancement of the forensic side of a criminal case. ... Show

The use of forensic science started in the mid nineteenth century when police in Birmingham,

criminals. Later in the same century a man named Alexandre Lacassagne successfully identified a
corpse using bones and dental comparisons. Now into the twentieth century the use of this science was
popular in the United States, France, and England. During the first year of the new century Karl
Landsteiner discovered that humans have two kinds of blood antigens on their red blood cells, which
were named A and B. In the same year the New York City Service Commission became the first

The Giver Right
I do believe that Jonas did the right thing at the end of The Giver. The releasing of the memories was
very important in reshaping the Community and his actions also saved Gabriel who was about to be
released, or killed. Leaving the Community was necessary to release the memories and there have
been many examples in the Bible of people leaving their homelands to fulfill a promise or prophecy.
Once Jonas crossed the boundary into Elsewhere, all of his memories were given back to the
Community. These included his memories of color, snow, sun, and others. With those good memories,
however, came bad memories as well. These were memories of war, hunger, loss, and pain. Bad

He did seem hesitant to do so at first. However, he realized what staying behind would cause, so he
went along with his plan. If he stayed behind, Gabriel would have been murdered, the people of the
Community would have never been able to experience and learn from the memories, and Jonas would
spend his entire life longing for the true feelings of love. There were many people in the Bible who
had to leave there homes behind for the good of them and those around them. For example, God told
Abraham to leave his home and find the land God had promised him. The details of his journey are
shown in Genesis 12. When he arrived in the land, which was near Canaan, God said that He would
give all of the land to his offspring and bless Abraham and those who bless him.
While I can see how Jonas s actions could be seen as hasty, I also see the good that came from those
actions. Now that he has escaped, the memories have been released and now everyone can experience
what Jonas has experienced and learn from it. Gabriel is safe and free with Jonas and, even though he
was hesitant, I still see the good that came from Jonas leaving the Community. His actions have
greatly benefitted both him and Gabriel and all of those who live in the

Investigation of the Thermal Decomposition of Copper...
Investigation of the Thermal Decomposition of Copper Carbonate
Aim:
Copper has two oxides, Cu2O, and CuO. Copper carbonate, CuCO3 decomposes on heating to form
one of these oxides and an equation can be written for each possible reaction
Equation 1: 2CuCO3 (s) Cu2O (s) + 2CO2 (g) + O2 (g)
Equation 2: CuCO3 (s) CuO (s) + CO2 (g)
The aim of this experiment is to prove which equation is correct. This can be done by volumetric
analysis i.e. calculating the volume of gas produced. This is then compared to the calculated volume
of gas produced in each equation and the equation with the nearest volume of gas is correct.
This is a thermal decomposition reaction and when an element like copper can form two oxides, which
one forms is based ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is also not sufficient to simply consider the stability of a compound with respect to its elements. It is
necessary to consider the stability of copper
(I) oxide with respect to copper (II) oxide, as well as with respect to copper and oxygen.
It would also be important to consider the stability of CuCO3 with respect to both oxides, to see which
reaction is energetically most likely. So it is clear that the value of Î Hf suggests that Cu2O will be
formed, but that this will not necessarily be the case because of the other factors involved.
Copper (II) compounds are by far the most common they are called
cupric . Copper (I) compounds cuprous compounds are far less common. Copper atoms most readily
go to oxidation state +2, by a variety of reactions. Cupric compounds are unstable in the presence of
water, so must either be insoluble or form complexes with other molecules. The equations are written
in moles and through my background knowledge
I now know the definition of a mole, 1mole of any substance contains the same number of particles as
12g of carbon 12. 1 mole of any element contains 6.01 x 1023 atoms. 1 mole of a molecular
compound contains 6.01 x 1023 molecules.
This means that in a reaction in which 2 molecules of one substance react with 1 molecule of another
for instance the formation of water: 2H2 + O2 2H2O, 2 moles of hydrogen molecules will react with
1 mole of oxygen molecules to give 2 moles of water molecules. For an element, the mass

Considering the iconography, the piece of art is aniconic, as there is no figure of Buddha and his
presence is implied through the symbols through his footprints, parasol, stupa, and chakra, Bodhi Tree,
and Tri Ratna among others. The Bodhi tree symbolizes enlightenment as the Buddha reaches
enlightenment sitting and meditating under it. It becomes a tree of worship for the Indians.
The Sanchi monuments were crafted with a broad range of figurative principles employed in the
Buddhism representation. The crown at Sanchi s Northern gate was made of symbols possessed from
the doctrines of Buddha. The wheel symbol with a lotus at the center reflected the doctrine, the trident
symbolized master, and the Srivatsa referred society. The Yaksha was a symbol that means guardian.
The other Sanchi s symbols of the sacred tree spirits praised fertility of the Buddhists.
The most significant aspects of the Great Stupa s Northern gateway connected with ritual context are
the Manushi Buddhas, Mara temptation, Shaddanta Jataka, and the Vessantara Jataka. The bas relief
provides masterly crafted details on the Indian life, as furniture, household, hairstyles, musical

All calories are the same. Different foods go through a different metabolism pathway therefore have
different effect on hunger and hormones that regulate body weight. Calories found in refined foods are
less filling and require one to eat more leading to weight gain while calories in whole foods are bulky
and more filling.
Carbs make you fat. Refined carbs like fries will result to weight gain but whole carbs like brown rice

weight loss with a dieting mindset instead make it a life plan to be happier, healthier and fitter.
Eating smaller meals make you burn more calories, well this is a myth too. Eat when you are hungry
and stop when you are full. You should eat to satisfy hunger not appetite.
Eating less and work out more. This may seem true because when calories out surpass calories in fat is
lost but this at times makes the body go into starvation mode. When the body does that it will
conserve every possible calorie, breaking down muscle tissue as well as fat, endangering ones health
and making weight loss difficult. Weight loss should involve eating right, the right kind of food and
the right amount of food.
Losing weight is linear process. This is not true, it may fluctuate. This should not be a cause of
concern. At times you may be carrying more food in the digestive system or more water in the body.
As long as the trend is going downwards eventually you will lose weight in the long term.
Those are some of the common myths

Skellig Symbolism
In David Almond s magic realist novel Skellig, the story follows the protagonist Michael, a young boy
who is facing many difficulties and challenges in his young life, the author uses a number of language
devices to tell his story, including puns, metaphors and similes. However one of the most powerful
devices are symbols. The author strongly uses symbols to reinforce character traits and to show the
connections between characters throughout the novel. The author constantly refers to the symbols of
evolution, death, birds and wings.
Evolution in the novel Skellig has a strong connection to bones and skeletons these are constantly
referred to when describing arthritis and Skellig. Evolution is also constantly associated with change
and new beginnings. Bones play a significant role in the novel as they are a symbolism of evolution

is a symbolism of death and despair it is also a symbol of being trapped or restricted. In contrast, in
the final pages of the novel, Skellig leaves behind 3 white feathers. The feathers are a symbolism of
hope, life and new beginnings, these are also a symbolism of how skellig has changed, earlier on he

Rhetorical Analysis Of Car Dealers In The Late 30 s
Throughout the late 20 s and early 30 s, people suffered in some of the worst ways America has ever
faced. John Steinbeck noticed how people, in some ways, were treated much worse than they should
have been when he considered what these people faced. Many people felt harsh treatment in car
dealerships specifically, as they purchased cars to help them travel across the country towards
California. Through the use of tone and diction, John Steinbeck characterizes the car salesmen as
ruthless towards those who are suffering. Throughout the passage, the tone used to describe the
dealers emphasized just how harsh dealers were to those trying to purchase cars. Many times, people
were spoken to as if they didn t matter whatsoever. It had been seen that if the women like[d] the car,
then the salesman could screw the old man into buying the car at a higher price than he initially would
have been willing to in the first place. People were treated as if they didn t matter and if someone
chose the more expensive choice, someone else was taken advantage of, no matter their struggles.
There were also instances where people came with the attitude of others don t want to buy no cars
instead they wanted to take up [their] time. Car salesmen felt as if these people who were fighting to
survive were simply wasting time and they didn t have intentions to purchase a car, even if that was
the real reason they were there. They diminished the real efforts of people who needed those cars to
find work and support themselves just by the way they said people were wasting their time. Steinbeck
continued to describe the merciless car salesman with their tone towards individuals with the ways
salesmen saw them as bastards on the sidewalk instead of seeing them as struggling just to get by on a
daily basis. The harshness of the salesmen s description completely confirms the inhumane thoughts
they have towards those who dealt with horrific hardships. Furthermore, Steinbeck took the tone one
step further in his representation of just how harsh these salesmen were to people who just wanted to
find a vehicle to take them to find work. Car dealers didn t want anything for more n twenty five,
thirty bucks, instead they only accepted

Stereotypes In Huck Finn
In the book, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain, we see how the book can be used
educationally inside of the classroom and out. This book shows the prejudice that has existed
historically and provides a basis for understanding how such stereotypes can be overcome by
recognizing similarities instead of focusing on difference. Therefore, it is imperative that high school
students read, analyze, and discuss Huck Finn in school.
Huck Finn is in many ways a very racist writing. The book celebrates and promotes racial stereotypes
because racial slurs are used often and African Americans are portrayed as dumb and senseless. In this
book there are many racial stereotypes and slurs that are not appropriate in today s world. The book

The transformation that Huck goes through shows us that anyone can change and open his mind to
find compassion and understanding for people who seem different. Towards the end of the book, huck
got a better understanding of the african american culture, that the slaves have morals too. But before
that, Huck has a hard time understanding what is ok to do and what is not. A good example of this is
when, they got separated and Huck found the raft when Jim was asleep. Huck woke Jim up and asked
if he didn t know he was here the whole time. Jim finds out that what Huck is saying was completely
untrue. Jim gets mad, explains that all he was doing was getting worried, while all Huck is doing is
making fun of him. As The book goes on though, Huck starts having this sense of understanding, like
puzzle pieces coming together. This is showed when Huck decides to save Jim instead of ratting him
out (ch.31). This is when he finally realized that all of this stuff his family was telling him was not
good morals. Seeing Huck transition like this shows the similarities between all people and how we
can all get along. This has great academic purpose because students should learn about how to get
along with others. This is something that is important to learn in school because not everyone learns it
at home and school has so many

Which Brand Of Popcorn Leaves The Least Amount Of Kernels
Which brand of popcorn leaves the least amount of kernels?
Which brand of popcorn leaves the least amount of kernels?
Have you ever wondered how popcorn kernels get left behind? Research by food scientist Bruce
Hamaker from Perdue University suggests that it is lack of moisture. Moisture helps the corn kernel
pop. You should store your popcorn in a cupboard where it is dry, never put your un popped popcorn
in the refrigerator because that will cause it to lose moisture. I am figuring out which brand of popcorn
leaves least amount of kernels.

Nationalism In NFL
Nationalism While living in the United States of America, the expectation is to stand and place a hand
over the heart while the playing of the national anthem, and during the saying of the pledge of
allegiance. This shows nationalism and respect for the country and what the country has been through
to get to where it is. Throughout the National Football League (NFL) 2017 2018 season, not standing
during the playing of the national anthem has led to many controversial disagreements. Citizens of the
United States of America should always stand during the playing of the national anthem if able to do
so. Nationalism can mean numerous things depending on the person defining it. The word nationalism
has many small, one word synonyms, each in which have their own specific meaning. A common
meaning of nationalism is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead of doing the expected during the playing of the national anthem, which is standing and placing
the right hand over the heart while facing the flag, some of the players decided to either kneel, sit, or
don t even come out of the tunnel during the playing of the Anthem. One of many examples of this is
when the Pittsburgh Steelers team was absent during the national anthem, except one player,
Alejandro Villanueva, a veteran who served in the army for three years in Afghanistan. While his
teammates stayed in the locker room, Villanueva stood outside the tunnel, proud, with his hand on his
heart. Head coach Mike Tomlin told the team before the game We re not participating in the anthem
today not to be disrespectful to the anthem to remove ourselves from this circumstance . The coach
decided to not participate in the anthem to protest rather than be respectful. Even though the behavior
on how to act during the national anthem was never enforced, the right thing to do is stand to show
respect and honor the

That we have been chosen as Gods portion and He has appointed you to Himself. It also means that God has chosen us as His inheritance. This is one of the many blessings which we have as believers. God does this according to His purpose and His will. God is never forced by anyone or anything outside of Him. Everything is under His control and is part of His plan. It was an era filled with fear and paranoia, not simply of the unknown, but of neighbours, friends, and family. World War II, the atomic bomb, the Cold War, made it hard for Americans to continue their optimism historian Stephen Ambrose commented. This paradigm shift is evident in the texts from the era, and by studying them we come to understand the values and atmosphere of the time and the effect those values had on the texts. The Cold War began after the end of World War II, after the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki by the United States of America; that continued until the early 90s with the dissolving of the Soviet Union. The two sides of the Cold War were the Western Bloc and Eastern Bloc, which are terms given to the alliances formed by the USA and NATO; and the USSR and the Warsaw Pact respectively. Named for its lack of major conflict or bloodshed between its two super powers, the USA and USSR, despite the wars that occurred that those super powers supported, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. After the bombing and subsequent end of WW II, the world was reeling from the unprecedented destruction it caused as well as the implications and effects it would have on not only war but society itself. School Tryout Essay There has long been a disagreement about whether schools should hold tryouts for competitive sports teams, for the reason that many people hold varying opinions on this issue. Despite the fact that an incredible amount of citizens believe that students should be allowed to participate in athletics without trying out, numerous people disagree with that position. Some people argue that tryouts are a traditional way to choose the best students on the spot, or instead, tryouts could result as an emotional breakdown. The last reason is, if it weren t ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Without tryouts, students wouldn t learn that not everything is handed to them for free. This is why schools need to permit tryouts. Another reason schools should execute tryouts is because if it weren t for tryouts, there would be too many students on a team, and it can be chaotic. According to Dr. Allen Goldberg, he states, If there s too many kids on one team, kids won t get the fair amount of playing time that they deserve. (Goldberg, 2015). Skeptics believe that every student (either an advanced or average youth athlete) should get the equivalent amount of playing time during a game, yet many disagree with the opinion. Sharing play time with average students is unfair to children who are highly skilled in this certain sport. For example, a spontaneous youth athlete can work very hard during practices, while other athletes could slack off during the process. It is unfair to the athletes who are concentrated during practices to share play time with students who do not work for the win at all. They deserve the appropriate amount of playtime because they ve worked so hard during practices for the particular game. This is also very huge because coaches want the most skilled children on the team so they can achieve the gold. This is why tryouts should be handled with competitive sports teams. Additionally, Budgets aren t large enough to cover all costs players need. (Matz, 2015). This statement shows that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Manifest Destiny Transcendentalism The Foundation for Manifest Destiny Scholars have outlined how Transcendental thought was foundational for the idea of Manifest Destiny (Johannsen 12). Yet, a more complex relationship between Transcendentalism and Manifest Destiny is revealed when looking at the amenability between Emerson s views on self reliance and the 19th century Manifest Destiny doctrine. Indeed, America s commitment to Manifest Destiny seems to require the nation to embrace the independence characteristic associated with Emerson s self reliance. However, Emerson s condemnations of conformity, reliance on property, and preoccupation with the future reveal incompatibilities between the two intellectual teachings. Before assessing the degree of harmony between Emerson s self reliance and Manifest Destiny, an understanding of Manifest Destiny s historical background is necessary. Information from historian Robert Johannsen s essay The Meaning of Manifest Destiny provides much of the needed context. John Louis O Sullivan originally penned the term in 1845 to refer to the belief that the United States was guided by a providential destiny, in other words, that the nation had a preordained, God sanctioned mission to fulfill (Johannsen 10). The idea of Manifest Destiny was initially used to provide grounds for the American annexation of Texas (Johannsen 7). Within the same year, O Sullivan supported a different territorial expansion on the grounds of America s Manifest Destiny for a second time. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. Saint Thomas Aquinas As A Man With An Unearthly Intellect... Torrell Review Saint Thomas Aquinas is known by most as a man with an unearthly intellect. Throughout his brilliant life, he produced many works that have helped defend the Catholic church s position against many atheistic arguments, specifically materialism. Because of his gifted intellect, at times, many may fail to recognize that in order for one to have such gifts, there needs to be a desire and firm commitment in their spiritual life to submit to the will of God. In Jean Pierre Torrell s proclamation of Aquinas spiritual life, Saint Thomas Aquinas: Spiritual Master, he addresses the importance and explains Aquinas transcendent mind in two sections: A Trinitarian Spirituality and Man in the World and Before God. This explanation is done is a similar style to Aquinas himself, in which, he writes in an ontological order so that the later context can be perfected by the earlier and visa verse. This overview takes aim and clearly orientates Aquinas understanding of Nature, humanity, human society, politics, and fellowship through communication with God and each other. Essentially, one can find that Aquinas thought is not only rooted in the mystical teachings of the Catholic faith but is very practical and applicable to the physical and metaphysical worlds. In order to proceed with further explanation, it is import to give a summary of Aquinas s spirituality and theology, as Torrell does. As stated by Vargo and Lusch (2004, 2008) (cited in Enquist, Camen and Johnson 2011, p.220), a business based on S D logic is essentially customer oriented and relational. S D logic defines service as the application of operant resources (knowledge and skill) to operand resources (such as natural resources) for the benefit of (and in conjunction with) another entity, as part of an exchange process. S D logic emphasizes that both company and customers co create the value. The company acts as value facilitator, while the customers also participate in generating the value that will benefit both parties. • 22. How Is The Roman Republic Democratic The Roman Republic (509 B.C. 27 B.C.) lasted 482 years, and was a democracy, but exactly how democratic was it? A democracy is a type of government where the main power is given to the people. In a democracy, fair elections are held, the people are active, and the same laws apply equally to all people of the democracy. The Roman Republic was fairly democratic because, all men could vote, and the people had the final say in the government and military, however, there were fairly undemocratic parts of the Roman Republic; one being the fact that the voters were disenfranchised due to the people with more power s votes counted more. One aspect of the Roman Republic that made it truly democratic was that all men could vote. That included the poor and freed slaves. Furthermore, as stated by Professor Fergus Miller, Every adult male citizen, unless, specifically disqualified, had a vote, and there was no formal exclusion of the poor. Free slaves could also vote... This clearly shows that the Roman Republic was, in fact, democratic because voting rights are extremely important in a democracy and everyone (with the exception of women) could vote. ... • 23. Evaluation Of The Paediatric Neurosurgical Patient Key Points 1. Approach to the paediatric neurosurgical patient is different because of age related changes in neurophysiology and cranial development. 2. The signs and symptoms of raised intracranial pressure in paediatric neurosurgical cases are age specific. 3. Blood loss due to surgery or tumor bleed into the cavity constitutes a major fraction of total blood volume in the paediatric population. 4. Capnography is the most feasible and safer method to monitor venous air embolism in children. Introduction The majority of tumors (60 70%) in pediatric age group occur in the posterior fossa. The reason behind propensity to occur in the posterior fossa has not been elucidated till date. Lesion in the posterior fossa may be neoplastic, developmental and vascular processes requiring surgical intervention. By far, the most common posterior fossa tumors of childhood are medulloblastomas, ependymomas and astrocytomas. Medulloblastomas are the most common malignant brain tumor in children comprising 20% to 25% of all pediatric brain tumors. The median age at diagnosis is approximately 6 to 9 years. Most of tumors occur in midline and frequently found associated with hydrocephalus. Success with surgical intervention has become possible because of improved understanding of physiology, advances in imaging and microsurgical techniques, excellent anaesthetic techniques available, advances in perioperative care of the patient. • 27. How Did John Lomax Influence Modern Popular Music Introduction Throughout this discussion I will be making a series of arguments that support the changes to modern popular music that were induced by John and Alan lomax. As the work they achieved is vast, I have broken it down into various sub categories to facilitate better analysis. Academic Being initially raised in the presence of cowboys it comes as no surprise that John Lomax became interested in cowboy ballads from a young age. His parents believed that education was important and sent John to college for a year in 1887. With his new found qualification, John became a Principle and teacher. In 1895 John went on to further his education by studying a Bachelor Degree at the University of Texas, signing up for double the amount of classes. In 1897 John graduated with a major in English literature. From this evidence it seems very reasonable to suggest that John Lomax was an academic. It was during this time John showed his ballad collection to an English professor, but it was not seen as being something worthy of academic pursuit. John, disappointed, burned his whole ballad collection. In 1906 he went on to study at Harvard ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Yes, it has been one of my first lessons since I immigrated to the United States. During January of 2012, most of the weekdays, my brother gave a homeless man some quarters or one dollar when we were going to work. This homeless man stood in an intersection and begged for charity from the public. However, my brother met him at a convenient store, and witnessed him buying some lotteries. Should this homeless man spend his begging money on gambling or on daily necessities such as foods and a place to sleep? Another example is a homeless man who bought three houses and had four wives with some children from public charity has been charged for tax problems. • 29. The Outsider By Albert Camus Albert Camus novel The Outsider follows a young French Algerian, Meursault, who lives his day to day life detached from the rest of the world. Along with his indifference towards others, Meursault has alienated himself from society with his absurdist ideas and blatant honesty. Camus has structured the novel into two parts. In Part I we see Meursault s routines, habits and general reactions to daily events around him. At the end of Part I Meursault kills an Arab man which eventually leads to his murder trial. Part II shows the murder trial and Meursault s death sentencing. A common theme found within The Outsider is Absurdism. Camus wanted to show how Man s constant search for meaning in life is pointless. Through foreshadowing, Camus is able to represent Absurd ideas found within the novel. The idea is first subtly represented in Part I and only upon critical investigation can it be seen again in Part II. Camus has chosen to portray the absurdity of Meursault s emotional detachment and lack of empathy early on in The Outsider. The novel begins with Meursault s mother s death. He accounts for the incident in a matter of fact manner by shortly stating Mother died today. Or maybe yesterday, I don t know (9). This controversial reaction and lack of remorse becomes one of the main factors used against him later on in the novel. Camus has crafted this statement to shock the reader. Nationally known Islamic theologian Riffat Hassan says: Koranic law does give women many rights, to own property, to be independent financially. They can keep their own names (when they marry). At the same time, what has happened is a lot like Judaism and Christianity. The law has developed within a patriarchal framework. If the Koran were properly implemented, there wouldn t be any discrimination against women (star trib, p. 1). Much of the appeal of Islam is its structure. Islam, like Catholicism, gives a place and a role to everyone, which in turn, gives a sense of security to each member. Many women find freedom in the structured life of Islam. Some women view customs such as veiling, as a way to distinguish themselves and their Islamic identity. Their lives are ordered by putting their spiritual lives first, praying five times a day, and finding unity within their community. So it is clear that the value of Î Hf suggests that Cu2O will be formed, but that this will not necessarily be the case because of the other factors involved. Copper (II) compounds are by far the most common they are called cupric . Copper (I) compounds cuprous compounds are far less common. Copper atoms most readily go to oxidation state +2, by a variety of reactions. Cupric compounds are unstable in the presence of water, so must either be insoluble or form complexes with other molecules. • 42. Rhetorical Analysis Of Car Dealers In The Late 30 s Throughout the late 20 s and early 30 s, people suffered in some of the worst ways America has ever faced. John Steinbeck noticed how people, in some ways, were treated much worse than they should have been when he considered what these people faced. Many people felt harsh treatment in car dealerships specifically, as they purchased cars to help them travel across the country towards California. Through the use of tone and diction, John Steinbeck characterizes the car salesmen as ruthless towards those who are suffering. Throughout the passage, the tone used to describe the dealers emphasized just how harsh dealers were to those trying to purchase cars. Many times, people were spoken to as if they didn t matter whatsoever. It had been seen that if the women like[d] the car, then the salesman could screw the old man into buying the car at a higher price than he initially would have been willing to in the first place. People were treated as if they didn t matter and if someone chose the more expensive choice, someone else was taken advantage of, no matter their struggles. There were also instances where people came with the attitude of others don t want to buy no cars instead they wanted to take up [their] time. Car salesmen felt as if these people who were fighting to survive were simply wasting time and they didn t have intentions to purchase a car, even if that was the real reason they were there. They diminished the real efforts of people who needed those cars to find work and support themselves just by the way they said people were wasting their time. Steinbeck continued to describe the merciless car salesman with their tone towards individuals with the ways salesmen saw them as bastards on the sidewalk instead of seeing them as struggling just to get by on a daily basis. The harshness of the salesmen s description completely confirms the inhumane thoughts they have towards those who dealt with horrific hardships. Furthermore, Steinbeck took the tone one step further in his representation of just how harsh these salesmen were to people who just wanted to find a vehicle to take them to find work. Car dealers didn t want anything for more n twenty five, thirty bucks, instead they only accepted ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The transformation that Huck goes through shows us that anyone can change and open his mind to find compassion and understanding for people who seem different. Towards the end of the book, huck got a better understanding of the african american culture, that the slaves have morals too. Jim gets mad, explains that all he was doing was getting worried, while all Huck is doing is making fun of him. As The book goes on though, Huck starts having this sense of understanding, like puzzle pieces coming together. This is showed when Huck decides to save Jim instead of ratting him out (ch.31). This is when he finally realized that all of this stuff his family was telling him was not good morals. Seeing Huck transition like this shows the similarities between all people and how we can all get along. This is something that is important to learn in school because not everyone learns it at home and school has so many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
