Causes Of The Sinking Of Lusitania
The sinking of The Lusitania put enough public pressure on the president to become more involved in
the war because of the loss of American Life. Let s start from the beginning World War one started on
the 28th of July 1914 between two sides; The triple alliance and the triple entente. It came to an end
on the 11th of November 1918. Difference in policies were to blame, although the immediate cause of
World War one was the assassination of Austria s Archduke Franz Ferdinand, who was an Archduke of
Austria Este, Austro Hungarian and Royal Prince of Hungary and of Bohemia s. The war started
mainly because of four aspects: Militarism, Alliances, Imperialism and Nationalism. This is because

changed, even the geography of Europe changed. At the end of World War I the treaty of Versailles was
signed, shifting the blame of World War I totally on Germany, and forced Germany to pay heavy
economic reparations. But World War I was horrible for anyone who fought in it, muddy trenches
being stormed by rats and disease, as well as enemies. The dead were everywhere, thousands of
makeshift tombstones littered all over Belgium and France. Also people started dying in England,
England suffered its first air raids, and England was no longer a safe haven from World War I.Over

Exploring The Role Of Hipparchus In Greek Mythology
Hipparchus was born in 190 B.C. in Nicaea, Bithynia, and died in 120 B.C. Due to this , there is not a
lot information on his early life. He approximately started working as an astronomer in his 30 s.
Hipparchus was best known to be an astronomer, aside from that he was also a Greek mathematician
and geographer. Most of the work that he did is now lost , but Only one work by Hipparchus has
survived, namely Commentary on Aratus and Eudoxus and this is certainly not one of his major
works. It is however important in that it gives us the only source of Hipparchus s own writings .(1)
Nevertheless, most of his research and calculations are found in Almagest by Claudius Ptolemy, which
is how mathematicians can see how he came across the beginnings of trigonometry.
First of all , one of Hipparchus greatest contributions to mathematics was the creation of the
trigonometric table , which allows to tabulate the values of some or all six of the trigonometric
functions for various angles. Additionally, he was also known for discovering the ... Show more

All of the information regarding mathematics that he already knew was based on Babylonian and
Egyptians. In order to discover the precession of equinoxes, Hipparchus had to first find a way to
figure out the angles and measurements of the moon and sun. Therefore, he created a table of chords,
which later became a trigonometric table, which could be seen one of the first calculators. When
creating the table , He considered every triangle as being inscribed in a circle, so that each side
became a chord , he then originated dividing a circle into 360 degrees, same as Hypsicle s had done

Choosing To My Life By Corrie Ten Boom
Any step that removes sorrow from your life is a step in the right direction. Choosing to invite
happiness into your life is the journey most worthy to embark these steps on. I ve come up with three
steps that justify the values of a quote from Corrie ten Boom that says, Worry does not empty
tomorrow of its sorrow, it empties today of its strength. For anyone going through a sorrowful
situation, a happier lifestyle is a few thoughts away. The three steps to a happier life in the midst of a
sad situation is: accepting a problem for what it is, letting go of negativity, and thinking positivity.
The first step to releasing worry from your life is accepting the problem you are facing. My struggle
started when I learned my brother, Sam, had AML leukemia and would have to undergo chemotherapy
treatments. It is important that people get the facts and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Worrying too much will not create a better tomorrow. Once a person gives up a pessimistic lifestyle,
he or she can gain control over their thoughts and emotions. Letting go of negativity leaves you
vulnerable to have thoughts that still may not improve your well being. You must choose to see the
good in the world and find something to believe in. Personally, I believe that for every heartbreak in
life, there is also something to to be rejoiced. Learning that a loved one has cancer is devastating, but
seeing them heal is remarkable. Choose to have a mindset that contributes to a happy lifestyle. Learn
to realize how many good opportunities a bad situation gives you. I was able to witness some events in
a whole new light. For example, most people don t get to experience growing their hair back or
gaining muscle back at such a fast pace. These experiences prove how much an illness can take away
and how quickly a strong mindset can restore that deficit. A good outlook on life will heal and
strengthen anyone who chooses happiness over

British Airways And Ryanair And The Airline Industry
Introduction
In today s business world, Aviation industry is frequently developing rapidly in order to compete
among each other and survive in the larger markets leading to aggregate competition between low
cost/no frills carriers LCC and the more traditional full service carriers FSC (Hunter: 2006). Due to
rapid development, consumer trend tend to improve in the market because flying on mainstream
carriers was no longer cost effective, therefore, low cost carrier was introduced (Whitelegg: 2005).
Subsequently, operation strategy is fundamental to the success of the businesses. Slack, Brandon Jones

Ryanair incorporated at no frills, low cost, quick to reach consumers destinations in a much
modernized aviation industry. For instance, it is more cheaply, and more reliable, than any other
airline including British Airways. They do not compromise on safety, top drawer punctuality, near
perfect baggage handling and efficient green policy. The target markets of this particular airline are
those who compromises on comfort and fare conscious customers. For example: Students, low income
earners, busy businessmen, and family (Ryanair.com). On the other hand, British Airways strategy is
to become the world s leading global premium airline by making cost that is base more efficiently and
focus on outstanding customer service, which is a critical part of their strategy. The 5 strategy goals
are to be the airline of choice for long haul premium customers, deliver and outstanding service for
customers at every touch point, grow their presence in key global cities, build on the leading position
in London and meet customers needs and improve margins through new revenue streams (British
Airways PLC .com). The target market of British Airways is leisure travellers, consumers who want
comfort and cost is not an issue (marketingmagazine.co.uk). Both aviation companies are customers
based but they do differ from each other in their operation strategy.

Cherokee Cultural Barriers
Traditional Cherokee medicine primarily focuses on the purity and wellbeing of the soul and assesses
the physiological condition of the body as a secondary practice (Frazier, Goad, Wolyniak, 2013). The
Cherokee highly value the importance of man being in a harmonious balance with nature. An
imbalance in nature is the theory behind the causation of disease. Cherokee perform various rituals
and sacred prayers to maintain a balance its nature and to protect themselves from harm and disease
caused by evil spirits. Most Native American theories are learned by means of prayer, visions, dreams

In addition, simply because a child moves from the Foundation Stage into Key Stage One shouldn t
mean that the curriculum ceases being active. Young children learn best when they are engaged in
worthwhile, hands on experiences. On the same premise, play does not have to end but it needs to be
teacher initiated and led in order to be of much educational value, for instance, children are unlikely to
spell words correctly, if there isn t a teacher to help sound out the letters in the word.
Ros Bayley and Sally Featherstone are writers on teaching and learning have written a book entitled

level of activity continues to the age of 9 or 10. Children develop 50% of their eventual ability to learn
before the age of 4 and another 30% before they are 8. Adult interaction and physical activity continue
to make a massive difference to learning during childhood When measuring the difference between
boys and girls they found that most girls have made sufficient links to their brains to begin the
complex skills of reading and writing by the time they are four and a half while in most boys it is
nearer to six They also say that research from all over the world

William Shakespeare s play, The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, focused on the love story of two
teenagers, Romeo and Juliet. For they thought death was the only option, death they chose, but they
thought wrong. Like many others in life, if only Romeo and Juliet had pondered a little longer, waited

Ageism is the discrimination of people based on their old or young. There will always be someone

ABSTRACT The aim of this report is to discuss about how GENERAL MOTORS (GM) failed to
perform in the previous year s even though being one of the oldest automobile manufacturer in the
history, and the issues will be clarified with pertinent theories and to conclude my analysis
INTRODUCTION: The journey of General Motors (GM) can be followed back to 1887 when Ransom
E. Olds began the Olds Motor Vehicle Company Inc., (OMVC) in Michigan, USA, and began offering
vehicles under the Oldsmobile brand. In May 1903, Buick Motor Company (Buick) was formed by
David Dunbar Buick and Buick began assembling and offering vehicles by 1907. In spite of having a
decent begin and offering 6,500 vehicles every year somewhere around 1901 and 1908, OMVC began
to face serious rivalry from other significant car organizations like Buick, Cadillac Car Company3
(Cadillac), and Oakland Engine Auto Company4 (OMCC). In 1908, William Crapo Durant5 (Durant)
began General Engines Organization (GM) as a holding organization for Buick. That year, Durant
purchased OMVC. In 1909, GM purchased Cadillac and OMCC. In 1910, motor vehicles deals
plunged, bringing about numerous producers leaving the business. GM excessively sold some of its
organizations at loss. Its financial issues constrained Durant out of GM s administration. In 1911,
Durant joined Chevrolet Motor Company6 (Chevrolet). In 1916, Durant exchanged Chevrolet shares
to purchase a larger part stake of 54.5 present in GM. With the procurement of

Metamorphosis In Jane Eyre
Helen Burns, the childhood friend of the titular Jane Eyre, lives not to see the second volume of
Charlotte Brontë s preeminent novel. Similar to her gravestone inscription, however, Helen rises
again, her influence extending farther than those of her childhood exploits. The older orphan s unique
opinions toward feminism, power dynamics, and most importantly, religion, live on through Jane
Eyre, forming a parallel legacy to compare all of Jane s decisions to. Through exploring Jane s
religious transformation in context to Helen, Eyre is revealed as less egalitarian and rather elitist, one
who strives for power and domination rather than feminist equality.
To understand Jane s metamorphosis, however, one must first contextualize both Helen s and Jane s
original viewpoints. Upon entering the Lowell school, Jane suffers from a persistent insecurity.
Scarred from her lack of love in Reed house, Jane binds her happiness to the opinion of others,
childishly announcing, I would rather die than live I cannot bear to be solitary and hated (Brontë 8). In
turn, Helen sagely responds, You think too much of the love of human beings... the sovereign hand...
has provided you with other resources than your feeble self... Why, then, should we ever sink
overwhelmed with distress, when... death is so certain an entrance to happiness? (Brontë 8).
Essentially, Helen argues for complete independence from others opinions, for in death all is
forgotten. When contextualized in Victorian culture,

Economies of Scale
The largest single driving force behind mergers and acquisitions is probably economies of scale.
Economies of scale means that if you have a large company, you can leverage your suppliers. This is a
very powerful capability, and exercising it can be a strategic move for a company s operations. You
can save a tremendous amount of money on services such as health insurance we all know that health
insurance is extraordinarily expensive and getting more so every day. I know about the strategic
benefits of economies of scale from my personal experience of working as a consultant in a small
merger and acquisition in 2006 in which two failing private schools joined together to become one
successful entity. One of the major contributing factors for the success of this merger was that the
combined organization had more people who were buying health insurance; as a result, the health
insurance company substantially dropped their premiums because the risk was being spread across
more people. Large companies can also buy basic supplies such as paper, pencils, and paperclips less
expensively from suppliers when they buy in larger quantities. They simply get a

The Tragic Incident That Happened At Waco
The mass media is responsible for providing the general public with information regarding current
events and issues that are occurring in the world. In addition, journalists have the ability to influence
and impact individuals ideologies about certain topics by the way they present the information, either
in a positive or negative manner (Beckford 1994). On the other hand, scholarship strives to
methodologically and critically study and analyze a phenomenon in order to present factually correct
information. Furthermore, this paper will discuss the difference between journalism and scholarship,
and will use the tragic incident that occurred at Waco as an example to illustrate each fields
differences in discussing/reporting the events that unfolded. To begin with, the tragic incident that
occurred at Waco between the Branch Deviants and government officials were discussed differently
between scholars and journalists (mass media). It is evident that news media representations of the
Waco and new religious groups in general, are depicted as being problematic and deviant for society.
In addition, the aftermath of Waco resulted in stories being published to instill fear into the public
about new religious movements (Beckford 1994). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Mount Carmel. While, journalists blame the Branch Deviants for starting the fire and state it was a
mass suicide (Beckford 1994). Although, scholars faced criticism for claiming distrust in the
government and their actions, these scholars were accused of being cult apologists who ignored the

Animal Personality As An Individual s Distinguishing...
Abstract:
Animal personality is defined as an individual s distinguishing pattern of behaviour that remains
consistent over time (Pervin and John 1997). Recently animal personality has become an important
area of research. Psychologist have been interested in the role of individual differences in behaviour
that may reflect temperament or personalities. This line of research has resulted in a number of studies
revealing individual differences in personality traits in such diverse species as primates, marine
mammals, insects, fish, invertebrates, and birds (Gosling, 2001). To add to the growing literature on

illegal hunting and trade of these critically endangered animals is also contributing to the decrease in
numbers. In Asian elephants, only the male elephants carry tusks, therefore hunting is aimed at the
males only. Not only is the poaching of the males killing a large proportion of the Asian elephant
population but it is also raising a concern about the genetic effects. When these tusked males are
killed, the number in the male population decreases resulting in a skewed sex ratios. The major
concern with this is that it may lead to inbreeding and eventually to a low breeding success which will
then bring down the population number even more.
To help save the Asian Elephant populations, Melbourne Zoo has set up the Cooperative Conservation
Breeding Program. The aim of their program is to create an insurance population of the species. Since
the establishment of this breeding program in 2006, three pregnancies have been achieved. For these
breeding programs to be successful the Zoo needs to set up an environment that each elephant feels
comfortable in.
For an animal to feel comfortable in an environment, the enclosure must be set up so the

Blanche is Responsible for her own Fate in a Street Car...
This essay will describe whether or not Blanches unfortunate eventual mental collapse was due to her
being a victim of the society she went to seek comfort in, or if she was solely or at least partly
responsible. The factors and issues that will be discussed include, Blanches deceitful behaviour and
romantic delusions which may have lead to her eventual downfall, the role Stanley ended up playing
with his relentless investigations of her past and the continuous revelations of it, the part society and
new America played in stifling her desires and throwing her into a world she could not relate to or
abide by. Firstly, the reader may initially feel Blanche is completely responsible or at least somewhat
to blame, for what becomes of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She flirts with many men and young adults throughout the play, which makes the reader feel a lack of
sympathy for her as the men she desired ended up becoming major contributors to her eventual
downfall, in particular Stanley. The reader may view Blanche as someone who tried to escape her
sordid past in Laurel and wanted to start a new life with her sister, yet due to the continuous
investigations from Stanley, was unable to do so. Stanley reveals Blanches lies and deceits,
commenting on them as her same old act, same old hooey! This tells the reader that his research of
Blanches past is way of stopping her from finding a new life. Blanche attempts to redeem her life by
finding love with Mitch, yet Stanley again reveals to Mitch that she was not straight , resulting in
Mitch not wanting to be with her and also contributing to her fate. Stanley, after mercilessly divulging
all her truths and bringing her to the edge of her mental capacity, rapes Blanche which brought about
her final collapse. The reader may view Stella as someone at blame for her sisters fate, as though she
shows some moral support of Blanches situation and listens to what she has to say, Stella continuously
throughout the play neglects to notice Blanches slow mental deterioration and ignores Blanches
outcries and incessant need for attention. Stella chooses Stanley over Blanche, despite her warnings
about him being volatile, violent and sub human which represents not

The Pros And Cons Of Racial Discrimination
As an international student, I was given a great opportunity to pursue a wide range of academic
studies and to experience the world diversity that enriches the promotion of a cultural exchange
amongst students from many different parts of the world. Interactions with different races on a
personal level has allowed me to gain a better understanding about them in person, their values, and
the world; however, until I left home and went abroad as an international student, I, too, was one of
few people who had only seen them in person from a long distance or through social media. As much
as the issue of racial discrimination has been extreme and people s ignorance of this issue has grown
in many countries, I had once denied to accept the difference and created bias in my personal view and
the way I perceived different races. People tend to acquire various knowledge through individual
perception formed simply by seeing what is currently lain in front of us, as I did. Barack Obama,
while campaigning for the presidential nomination at the National Constitution Center Union in
Philadelphia in 2008, delivered his speech about controversial issues of race that still exist in the
history of America (Rai, 646).
The speech titled A More Perfect Union conveys numerous messages regarding Obama s concerning
beliefs of racism. Barack Obama, himself, despite serving as the 44th President of the United States,
had gone through the long and hurtful journey of difficulties in the presence of racial discrimination
having to face the prejudice against the colored skin and a different social and cultural background.
Being colored, preconceptions about him was inevitable even during his campaign, but his oratory that
openly addressed the race which is the sensitive topic that is rarely discussed or spoken in public,
captured great attention allowing him to successfully build his image as an intelligent and patriotic
candidate. Through the speech, Obama not only responds to the criticisms of his affiliation with his
former pastor, Reverend Jeremiah Wright, who spoke of controversial and incendiary statements about
the divisive racial challenges in America and the injustice of the country as a nation by questioning the

Protein Synthesis Lab Report
Scientists found out that the formation of proteins (polypeptide chains) are dictated by the expression
of DNA. The DNA dictates the types of proteins that will be formed by making the sequence of
nitrogen containing bases. Each three base sequence has an equivalent code for the amino acid that
will make up the formation of protein (polypeptide). For example; the sequence of the three bases
CCA is a code for using the amino acid Proline (Pro), CTT is for the amino acid Leucine (Leu), TCT
is the code for the amino acid Serine (Ser), and so on. After coding, each of these amino acids will be
used to form long chains of amino acids called polypeptide chain. These chains will make up the
proteins. The synthesis of protein is a very complex process. The two major steps in protein synthesis
are (I) Transcription and (II) Translation. These are the process in the synthesis of protein from the
information expressed by genes. The figure below illustrates the synthesis of proteins in a cell. ...

Difference Between The Lottery And Fortunato
The Act of an Antagonist What makes an antagonist and antagonist? In the story, The Cask of
Amontillado, Fortunato plays the role of the antagonist, the man contending Montresor. In the short
story, The Lottery, the lottery itself opposes the protagonist, Tessie. These two forces that dispute
against the protagonists have different and similar qualities, and the stronger of the two antagonists is
The Lottery.
The two antagonist of their respective stories have many differences between their appearances. The
main difference between Fortunato and The Lottery are their characteristic appearances. Fortunato
appears to be a foolish; unintelligent drunk, and leads himself into danger: Once more let me implore
you to return. No? Then I must positively leave you (Poe 622). In this quote Montresor builds the wall
around the groggy Fortunato. This ultimately lead to Fortunato s downfall. The Lottery could be
described as a polar opposite, because The Lottery can be described as crafty and inevitable: Used to
be saying about Lottery in June, corn be heavy soon... There s always been a lottery, he added
petulantly (Jackson 266). Old Man warner is describing a lottery that can be characterized as
inevitable and crafty. These words describe The Lottery because it can not be avoided and convinces
people to slaughter each other for a better crop. Given these points, the major difference between
Fortunato and The Lottery can be described in their characteristics.
The two antagonist s, Fortunato and The Lottery have similarities in their involvement in death and
the effect they had on the protagonist. In both short stories, The Cask of Amontillado, and The Lottery,
the two antagonists push the opposing characters to extreme behaviors. In The Lottery, the
townspeople are convinced they must sacrifice their family members and friends for a healthy crop
season. The lottery has control over the townspeople, and pushes them to extreme measures. In The
Cask of Amontillado, Montresor talks about his hatred of Fortunato: The thousand injuries of
Fortunato I had borne as best as I could; but when he ventured upon insult, I vowed revenge (Poe
617). Montresor stresses that Fortunato has pushed him over the limit.

The Edible Woman By Margaret Atwood
The edible woman
Introduction
The edible woman by Margaret Atwood was first published in 1969. The novel talks about women and
the way they relate to men, food, and the society. Through food and eating, Atwood is able to the
rebellion of a young woman against the male dominated modern society. The story is about a young
woman, the protagonist of the novel named Marian McAlpin and her struggles between the roles
imposed on her by society and her individuality and personal self definition. Through food, her
struggles, and her eventual rebellion are symbolized. Atwood has used her protagonist for the creation
of situations where women are overburdened with inequalities and rules of the society. She tries to

She goes deeper into the hearts of the things that relate to women and their lives. The author is indeed
well aware of all the implications of female roles in society. Marian is undergoing a phase where she
is struggling with the role the society imposes on her and that which she wants for herself. In the novel
and her development of a phobia for some food, types have been used to demonstrate this. Through
the acquisition of some attitude for food, her powerlessness in this situation is revealed. She is
protesting against capitalism, and this leads her to stop eating because she lacks autonomy and control.
Her social pressure thus comes out through her eating disorder. This shows a positive correlation
between eating disorders and the social pressures people face. Her eating disorder is like a protest and
a revolt because of her rebellion against the male dominated society that she lives in.
Marian s interpretation of the world is terms of food and uses it to negotiate her way through life.
Towards the end of the novel, she manages to construct the new concept of self/persona by renewing
her relationship with food. The author has used food as a metaphor, and it has appeared in the novel.
By writing about Marian s eating habits, Atwood has tried to expose the differences that exist between
cultural roles and those that have been constructed through the experienced realities. At the beginning
of the novel,

Piece Of Equipment Essay
Introduction
I have been asked to design and build a piece of equipment using the available apparatus that follows
the diagram below.
The design we came up with is in the picture below and the reason I came up with this simple design
is because it seemed the easiest in order to do the simple job.
The components we used were
240v main supply
This was simply a lead that came from the house mains and plugged into an adapter that brought the
amps down to 3amp as the circuit wasn t going to need a lot of current to work and then plugged into
the transformer.
Transformer
I then used a transformer to change the voltage from 240v ac down to 15v ac. The way the transformer
works is that there is current passed through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2 of these pins were used for the coil labelled a1 a2 and the other 6 pins were used for normally open
and normally closed contacts.
Limit Switch
We used 2 limit switches that also stopped the circuit if the yaw point went too far they would push
the limit switch and stop the relays that powered the motor.
Motor
The motor we used was a 12v dc motor. This motor moved both clockwise and anticlockwise when
polarity was changed through the way the relays are wired.
When we wired up this circuit and done a few tests on it we found that because it was a dc circuit it
had some voltage drop. We done a calculation to figure out what would be the best size of capacitor
we could put into the circuit in order to smooth it out.
This is the calculation we done.
Capisator size = C=IxT/V
I = Current
T= Time 50hz per second
V= change in voltage
C= 0.5A x 0.02/15
=0.5x0.001333
=0.0006F
= 667uF
We then placed 1x 470uF and 2x 100uF capacitor in parallel and tested the wave form again and it
showed a more clear and steady wave than before. We then knew we had this problem sorted.
When it came to wiring the circuit, I realised that all we need was 12v to power the relay and motor
but the motor was going far too fast so what I done was put a voltage regulator that changed the
voltage from 15v dc to 5v dc which I then used to power the motor. However, I still used the 12v dc to
power the coil on the relay as if I didn t do this the coil on

Josh Bailey was drafted with the 9th pick in the 2008 NHL entry draft. Crazy to think that this coming

Jack Lord Of The Flies Quote Analysis
Effective leaders need to be flexible, and must adapt themselves according to the situation. The book
Lord of the Flies by William Golding is about a group of british boys that get stranded on a island and
they have to figure how a way to govern themselves. Jack s effective leadership throughout the novel

First I will talk about my first piece of evidence about how Jack is an effective leader. He d never have

expects people to obey for nothing. (Golding,PDF, 98) This quote shows that Ralph wouldn t of done

Kingdom Of God Analysis
Kingdom of God The third motif, kingdom of God, is multi layered and difficult to define in a few
sentences. Frequently described by some as the end of times or yet to come (Matthew 6:10), others
look at it as the here and now (Luke 17:21). Several more contradictions describing it include: 1) it
does not consist of talk (1Corinthians 4:20) but it must be proclaimed (Luke 4:43); 2) it is in the world
but not of it (John 18:36); and lastly, 3) it belongs to the least (Matthew 11:11) and are greater than the
greatest in it [Matthew 18:1 4] (Moreau, Corwin, McGee, 2014, p. 81). Closely connected with the
kingdom of God, mission deals with these same paradoxes. Frequently, what may look chaotic to
believers is successful mission because God s timing and establishment has left its mark in today s
world. For example, the weak are empowered to accomplish what is deemed impossible for the strong,
the love of Christ wins over even the worst of enemies, and the active work of missionaries cannot
overlook the quiet workings of the Spirit as it changes the hearts of those around the world. The
kingdom of God threads through the central themes because of evangelism it grows and represents
Christlike attitudes of love and service (Moreau, Corwin, McGee, 2014, p. 81).
Church

one of the best form of relationship as kinship between two individuals. Marriage usually occurs when
both parties make their relationship public, official and permanent. The Legal Information Institute in

conditions: 1) both parties should be legally able to marry each other 2) mutual consent 3) a lawful

Marriage with the Quran is one form of marriage practiced in Sindh, a province of Pakistan (Uzma,
2003) (Akhtar and Métraux, 2013: 42,). According to The Friday Times of Pakistan, a large number of
feudals in Sindh have married their daughter or sisters to the Quran(Uzma, 2003) (Akhtar and
Métraux, 2013:43). This marriage is followed by a ceremony where the girl has to take a bath (Uzma,
2003) (Akhtar and Métraux, 2013: 42, 43) and usually her head is covered with white dupatta. After
the marriage she is isolated from any social contact and she must study and recite the Quran everyday
and know it by heart. Additionally, other than reciting Quran, she cannot do anything or live her life
according to her wish (Akhtar and Métraux, 2013: 43). They also have to hang the text around their
waists with a cord and cannot approach a boy older than 14 years (Uzma, 2003). There are several
justifications given for this practice: 1) when a family cannot find a proper match for their daughter by
the father or brother, and woman remains unmarried forever and 2) this is practice to preserve family
money and property, which might be lost if the girl gets married to another family or when they have
to provide dowry (Akhtar and Métraux, 2013: 42). So in this way, the woman is not allowed to marry
a man and will stay forever in their father s home (Akhtar and Métraux, 2013: 42). If anyone wants

The Slave Ship Turner Analysis
Man holds the power of choice. We are gifted the power to control ourselves, which can be extended
to control others. Brit Joseph Mallord William Turner channeled his unique power through a
paintbrush, globally inspiring others through his landscapist compositions. Turner s The Slave Ship,
originally titled Slavers Throwing overboard the Dead and Dying Typhon coming on, immediately
captivates me with its meticulously placed oranges, reds, browns, and blues. Yet, my intrigue in
mysteries and puzzles is piqued by the deeper meanings hidden in the murky ocean waves where
slaves and sea creatures clash. These facets, combined with the historical basis, form an emotion

These images pull at our insides to incite change based on feelings of disgust and horror that the
painting invokes. The ship, placed at mid level in the painting, still draws the viewer s attention, but
does not invoke the same amount of sympathy. Yet, these conflicting points are relatively miniscule
compared to the power of nature. This further points to the helplessness of human beings, regardless
of race, in the face of nature, as nature triumphs over the greatest perceived powers of man. Man,
being a part of nature though, contributes to the panoramic view of nature as a whole; there is beauty,
horror, peace, chaos. Turner s The Slave Ship effectively encompasses all of these facets, revealing
nature as multitudinous and all encompassing.
The Slave Ship evokes cries, pleas, shouts, moans, and hurts. The indistinct brushstrokes reflect the
overall ambiguity of the world and the extent to which our imaginations act. Yet, sufferings of any
kind are reality. But, rising movements inspire actions seeking amelioration. Regardless of the good or
evil qualities of humans, we are all subject to something greater, something that minimizes our actual

  • 3. Exploring The Role Of Hipparchus In Greek Mythology Hipparchus was born in 190 B.C. in Nicaea, Bithynia, and died in 120 B.C. Due to this , there is not a lot information on his early life. He approximately started working as an astronomer in his 30 s. Hipparchus was best known to be an astronomer, aside from that he was also a Greek mathematician and geographer. Most of the work that he did is now lost , but Only one work by Hipparchus has survived, namely Commentary on Aratus and Eudoxus and this is certainly not one of his major works. It is however important in that it gives us the only source of Hipparchus s own writings .(1) Nevertheless, most of his research and calculations are found in Almagest by Claudius Ptolemy, which is how mathematicians can see how he came across the beginnings of trigonometry. Choosing to invite happiness into your life is the journey most worthy to embark these steps on. I ve come up with three steps that justify the values of a quote from Corrie ten Boom that says, Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow, it empties today of its strength. For anyone going through a sorrowful situation, a happier lifestyle is a few thoughts away. The three steps to a happier life in the midst of a sad situation is: accepting a problem for what it is, letting go of negativity, and thinking positivity. The first step to releasing worry from your life is accepting the problem you are facing. Once a person gives up a pessimistic lifestyle, he or she can gain control over their thoughts and emotions. Letting go of negativity leaves you vulnerable to have thoughts that still may not improve your well being. You must choose to see the good in the world and find something to believe in. Personally, I believe that for every heartbreak in life, there is also something to to be rejoiced. Learning that a loved one has cancer is devastating, but seeing them heal is remarkable. Choose to have a mindset that contributes to a happy lifestyle. Learn to realize how many good opportunities a bad situation gives you. I was able to witness some events in a whole new light. For example, most people don t get to experience growing their hair back or gaining muscle back at such a fast pace. These experiences prove how much an illness can take away and how quickly a strong mindset can restore that deficit. Through exploring Jane s religious transformation in context to Helen, Eyre is revealed as less egalitarian and rather elitist, one who strives for power and domination rather than feminist equality. To understand Jane s metamorphosis, however, one must first contextualize both Helen s and Jane s original viewpoints. Upon entering the Lowell school, Jane suffers from a persistent insecurity. Scarred from her lack of love in Reed house, Jane binds her happiness to the opinion of others, childishly announcing, I would rather die than live I cannot bear to be solitary and hated (Brontë 8). In Asian elephants, only the male elephants carry tusks, therefore hunting is aimed at the males only. Not only is the poaching of the males killing a large proportion of the Asian elephant population but it is also raising a concern about the genetic effects. When these tusked males are killed, the number in the male population decreases resulting in a skewed sex ratios. • 27. Protein Synthesis Lab Report Scientists found out that the formation of proteins (polypeptide chains) are dictated by the expression of DNA. The DNA dictates the types of proteins that will be formed by making the sequence of nitrogen containing bases. Each three base sequence has an equivalent code for the amino acid that will make up the formation of protein (polypeptide). For example; the sequence of the three bases CCA is a code for using the amino acid Proline (Pro), CTT is for the amino acid Leucine (Leu), TCT is the code for the amino acid Serine (Ser), and so on. After coding, each of these amino acids will be used to form long chains of amino acids called polypeptide chain. These chains will make up the proteins. These two forces that dispute against the protagonists have different and similar qualities, and the stronger of the two antagonists is The Lottery. The two antagonist of their respective stories have many differences between their appearances. The main difference between Fortunato and The Lottery are their characteristic appearances. Fortunato appears to be a foolish; unintelligent drunk, and leads himself into danger: Once more let me implore you to return. No? Then I must positively leave you (Poe 622). In this quote Montresor builds the wall around the groggy Fortunato. This ultimately lead to Fortunato s downfall. The Lottery could be described as a polar opposite, because The Lottery can be described as crafty and inevitable: Used to be saying about Lottery in June, corn be heavy soon... There s always been a lottery, he added petulantly (Jackson 266). Old Man warner is describing a lottery that can be characterized as inevitable and crafty. These words describe The Lottery because it can not be avoided and convinces people to slaughter each other for a better crop. Given these points, the major difference between Fortunato and The Lottery can be described in their characteristics. The two antagonist s, Fortunato and The Lottery have similarities in their involvement in death and the effect they had on the protagonist. In both short stories, The Cask of Amontillado, and The Lottery, the two antagonists push the opposing characters to extreme behaviors. In The Lottery, the townspeople are convinced they must sacrifice their family members and friends for a healthy crop season. The lottery has control over the townspeople, and pushes them to extreme measures. In The Cask of Amontillado, Montresor talks about his hatred of Fortunato: The thousand injuries of Fortunato I had borne as best as I could; but when he ventured upon insult, I vowed revenge (Poe 617). Montresor stresses that Fortunato has pushed him over the limit. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mental health counseling is one of the specializations in the counseling field. The American Mental Health Counselors Association stated that mental health counselors are highly skilled professionals who provide flexible, consumer oriented therapy (2016). Mental health counselors offer a wide range of services, such as: assessment and diagnosis, psychotherapy, treatment planning and utilization review, brief and solution focused therapy, alcoholism and substance abuse treatment, psychoeducational and prevention programs and crisis Management (American Mental Health Counselors Association, 2016). This paper will discuss the historical background of mental health counseling, mental health counseling services available for adolescents, ethical requirements of the American Counseling Association and legal requirements in the state of South Carolina and the different professional organizations. Historical Background The population that has my interest is adolescents. Many adults tend to believe that children do not encounter stressful situations or deal with mental illness. In reality, everyone deals with a different amount of stress and or mental illness. For instance, an adult may encounter stress from their workload at the job, just how adolescents can experience stress from their school work. The story is about a young woman, the protagonist of the novel named Marian McAlpin and her struggles between the roles imposed on her by society and her individuality and personal self definition. Through food, her struggles, and her eventual rebellion are symbolized. The author is indeed well aware of all the implications of female roles in society. Marian is undergoing a phase where she is struggling with the role the society imposes on her and that which she wants for herself. In the novel and her development of a phobia for some food, types have been used to demonstrate this. Through the acquisition of some attitude for food, her powerlessness in this situation is revealed. She is protesting against capitalism, and this leads her to stop eating because she lacks autonomy and control. Her social pressure thus comes out through her eating disorder. This shows a positive correlation between eating disorders and the social pressures people face. Her eating disorder is like a protest and a revolt because of her rebellion against the male dominated society that she lives in. Marian s interpretation of the world is terms of food and uses it to negotiate her way through life. Towards the end of the novel, she manages to construct the new concept of self/persona by renewing her relationship with food. The author has used food as a metaphor, and it has appeared in the novel. By writing about Marian s eating habits, Atwood has tried to expose the differences that exist between cultural roles and those that have been constructed through the experienced realities. • 32. Piece Of Equipment Essay Introduction I have been asked to design and build a piece of equipment using the available apparatus that follows the diagram below. The design we came up with is in the picture below and the reason I came up with this simple design is because it seemed the easiest in order to do the simple job. The components we used were 240v main supply This was simply a lead that came from the house mains and plugged into an adapter that brought the amps down to 3amp as the circuit wasn t going to need a lot of current to work and then plugged into the transformer. Transformer I then used a transformer to change the voltage from 240v ac down to 15v ac. The way the transformer works is that there is current passed through ... Limit Switch We used 2 limit switches that also stopped the circuit if the yaw point went too far they would push the limit switch and stop the relays that powered the motor. Motor The motor we used was a 12v dc motor. This motor moved both clockwise and anticlockwise when polarity was changed through the way the relays are wired. When we wired up this circuit and done a few tests on it we found that because it was a dc circuit it had some voltage drop. We done a calculation to figure out what would be the best size of capacitor we could put into the circuit in order to smooth it out. This is the calculation we done. Capisator size = C=IxT/V I = Current T= Time 50hz per second V= change in voltage C= 0.5A x 0.02/15 =0.5x0.001333 =0.0006F

We then knew we had this problem sorted. When it came to wiring the circuit, I realised that all we need was 12v to power the relay and motor but the motor was going far too fast so what I done was put a voltage regulator that changed the voltage from 15v dc to 5v dc which I then used to power the motor. Looking back to that time, it wasn t exactly an ideally situation. The islanders had the 5th overall pick going into that draft. They would trade that to the leafs and swipe first round picks. The isles would move back to the 7th pick which was then moved to Nashville and they would end up picking Bailey with the 9th overall pick. 10 years after there are still a lot of people who just don t like having Bailey on the team. The book Lord of the Flies by William Golding is about a group of british boys that get stranded on a island and they have to figure how a way to govern themselves. Jack s effective leadership throughout the novel led to great triumph. First I will talk about my first piece of evidence about how Jack is an effective leader. He d never have gotten us meat. He isn t a prefect and we don t know anything about him. He just gives orders and expects people to obey for nothing. (Golding,PDF, 98) This quote shows that Ralph wouldn t of done anything to hunt for meat for the boys on the island like Jack did. Ralph only worried about keeping the fire alive to have them get rescued, and not about hunting for food to stay alive. • 38. Kingdom Of God Analysis Kingdom of God The third motif, kingdom of God, is multi layered and difficult to define in a few sentences. Frequently described by some as the end of times or yet to come (Matthew 6:10), others look at it as the here and now (Luke 17:21). Several more contradictions describing it include: 1) it does not consist of talk (1Corinthians 4:20) but it must be proclaimed (Luke 4:43); 2) it is in the world but not of it (John 18:36); and lastly, 3) it belongs to the least (Matthew 11:11) and are greater than the greatest in it [Matthew 18:1 4] (Moreau, Corwin, McGee, 2014, p. 81). Closely connected with the kingdom of God, mission deals with these same paradoxes. Frequently, what may look chaotic to believers is successful mission because God s timing and establishment has left its mark in today s world. For example, the weak are empowered to accomplish what is deemed impossible for the strong, the love of Christ wins over even the worst of enemies, and the active work of missionaries cannot overlook the quiet workings of the Spirit as it changes the hearts of those around the world. The kingdom of God threads through the central themes because of evangelism it grows and represents Christlike attitudes of love and service (Moreau, Corwin, McGee, 2014, p. 81). Church The fourth and final motif considered is the church. As Jesus calls his first disciples to follow him (Matthew 4:18 21) drawing a parallel with God s calling of Israel as His people. According to The Friday Times of Pakistan, a large number of feudals in Sindh have married their daughter or sisters to the Quran(Uzma, 2003) (Akhtar and Métraux, 2013:43). This marriage is followed by a ceremony where the girl has to take a bath (Uzma, 2003) (Akhtar and Métraux, 2013: 42, 43) and usually her head is covered with white dupatta. After the marriage she is isolated from any social contact and she must study and recite the Quran everyday and know it by heart. Additionally, other than reciting Quran, she cannot do anything or live her life according to her wish (Akhtar and Métraux, 2013: 43). They also have to hang the text around their waists with a cord and cannot approach a boy older than 14 years (Uzma, 2003). There are several justifications given for this practice: 1) when a family cannot find a proper match for their daughter by the father or brother, and woman remains unmarried forever and 2) this is practice to preserve family money and property, which might be lost if the girl gets married to another family or when they have to provide dowry (Akhtar and Métraux, 2013: 42). So in this way, the woman is not allowed to marry a man and will stay forever in their father s home (Akhtar and Métraux, 2013: 42). If anyone wants ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This further points to the helplessness of human beings, regardless of race, in the face of nature, as nature triumphs over the greatest perceived powers of man. Man, being a part of nature though, contributes to the panoramic view of nature as a whole; there is beauty, horror, peace, chaos. Turner s The Slave Ship effectively encompasses all of these facets, revealing nature as multitudinous and all encompassing. The Slave Ship evokes cries, pleas, shouts, moans, and hurts. The indistinct brushstrokes reflect the overall ambiguity of the world and the extent to which our imaginations act. Yet, sufferings of any kind are reality. But, rising movements inspire actions seeking amelioration. We Shall Overcome the protest song has found itself tied to multiple social movements, however, its origin has its roots planted in the civil rights movement. After researching about this song I came across the fact that the lyrics and the style of the song originated from I ll Overcome Some Day , a hymn created by Charles Albert Tindley, An East Coast Methodist Minister, in 1901. Charles Tindley was the son of an African American slave father and free mother. It wasn t until the mid 1940s (ten years after Charles had passed on, leaving behind a lifetime of community work and activism) that we see the first rendition of the modern We Shall Overcome as a protest song by a tobacco and food union group. A few short years later in 1947 this song s title was recognized as We Shall Overcome in an edition of people s songs bulletin , a publication directed by Pete Seeger, who is very well known for his rendition of this song and many others.
