Supplier Diversity In The 1980 s
In the early 1980 s, the small town of Clarkston, Georgia could be best described as a neighborly and
old fashioned southern town It was a place where kids played baseball, everybody knew their
neighbors, and English was the spoken language However, things changed by the mid 1980 s, when
Clarkstonbecame a large resettlement location for refugees from mainly the middle east. The town
was appealing because of affordable housing and easily accessible jobs in Atlanta. By 2000, the
United States Census showed that one third of Clarkston s resident were foreign born, thus making it a
perfect description of Steven Vertovec s newly coined term of supplier diversity. Communities
struggling with their newly diverse environment use Clarkston as an example ... Show more content

Bill owned a failing local store called Thriftown, which was failing in the community. Bill made the
store saving decision when decided to hire a Vietnamese refugee named Hong Diep Vo.. Hong came to
Bill with an idea to start offering international food. This idea was successful because there were no
international food joints within thirty miles of Clarkston..This adaptation and action saved Bill s store
and brought him closer with the refugees, as they are his main customers. This adaptation is
something many business owners could learn from. For example, you cannot fight change, you can
only adapt and change with it. This ideology is shown by the new police chief, Tony J. Scipio, who
goesundercover for two weeks to learn about the community and their opinions on how the police
interacts with them. What Scipio found is there wasn t trust between the police and the community
anymore after many unjust acts by police. The refugees felt singled out as they had limited knowledge
of the law.Scipio lost 7 officers within the month either by quitting or being fired. He turned the police
force into a group of people who treated the community members with courtesy, professionalism, and
respect (179). Scipio did this through diversity training and writing many violations to his officers
who did not uphold the rules. These changes helped repair the harm done by previous officers This
adaptation shows how you can heal governmental distrust within a community in constant

Pros And Cons Of Leggings Against School Dress Code
Leggings should not be against school dress code. For one they don t show any skin and are 100
percent appropriate for school. Number two they are super comfortable and girls should have the right
to feel comfortable. Lastly they are already allowed at Staunton River Middle School so they should
just make it permanent since there aren t any problems. Here are more details... First, they re very
school appropriate. They show no skin. They re basically like jeans just more comfortable. Sometimes
leggings are more appropriate than jeans considering most don t have huge holes or holes in general.
Most people complain they show off in certain areas but you can even wear shirts that are long

Vancouver Drug Problem
The city of Vancouver has been known to have a drug issue, more specifically in the downtown
eastside area, which holds one of the most unwealtiest and oldest neighbourhoods in Canada. While
British Columbia has an estimate of 20,000 injection drug users who are pronounced to be in poverty,
have a mental illness, and be homeless (Jozaghi, Andresen, 2013: 1). In efforts to reduce this drug
problem, the city developed a plan using a four pillar approach that focuses on enforcement, harm
reduction, treatment, and prevention (Schaefer Haaland, 2014: 242). Schaefer Haaland (2014: 242)

Even though there are already harsh penalties toward those who contain and use illicit drugs, it would
not be possible to give them these sentences without their presence. Many legal drugs such as alcohol
and tobacco have relatively dangerous affects that could lead to death in the same ways illegal
substances can, which brings upon the question of why an individual s well being would ever be put
before the law. INSITE has proven to the world that providing a secure and reliable facility for addicts
to inject drugs will not only prevent them from harm and provide safety for the public, but it will also
encourage users to seek recovery. Research shows that associations with the safe injection site has
caused a 30 percent increase in rehabilitation programs, and an estimate of $14 million in savings and
1000 HIV preventions through the course of 10 years (Mosher, 2011: 377). With the significant
amount of evidence that INSITE has positively impacted toward society and its members, there is no
reason not to launch additional safe injection sites in areas where they are

Juvenile Vs Juvenile Justice System
The criminal justice system conducts trials, determines guilt, and decides what kind of punishments to
give to adults who have committed some sort of crime. Adults, however, are not the only ones who
commit crimes. Kids under 18 can commit crimes too. In 1899, the juvenile justice system began to
form. People thought that kids should be treated differently after committing crimes. Being younger,
they were believed to be more able to rehabilitate than adults, the criminal justice system was believed
to be too harsh for them, and some believed that juvenile s behavior was based strongly on their
parents and the society they lived in. In a peer reviewed article titled Are we criminalizing
adolescence? there is a statement that in a constitutional sense, youth are different than adults. In this
essay, I will talk about what the juvenile justice system is, what it does, how it is different than the
criminal justice system, and how some people believe it should change. As stated before, the juvenile
justice system began to take form around the 19th century. A simple definition of the American
criminal justice system, provided by Wikipedia, is the primary system used to handle youth who are
convicted of criminal offenses. The main goal of the American juvenile justice system is to rehabilitate
offenders. They want to intervene early in offender s lives, hoping to prevent them from being repeat
offenders when they become adults. Another peer reviewed article titled Natural born

Essay about The Fokker Eindecker During World War One
In today s world, the use of airplanes in wars or in everyday life has become a part of how we live as
human beings. Removing the air forces of the world is like taking a step back in time when wars were
only fought on land or sea. WWI began only eleven short years after the Wright brothers achieved
powered flight in 19031 and yet aircrafts were being used for surveillance and eventually combat
purposes. It is understood that these aircrafts were primitive, but they laid down the foundation for
what we know today as fighter jets. The Fokker Eindecker revolutionized air combat by successfully
employing a synchronized forward firing machine gun mounted on the engine cowling 2. Because this
airplane became the first to successfully use a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What was the importance to this plane? The French plane included a machine gun attached to its
propellers. Fokker went above and beyond the German s request by creating a more reliable aircraft
that wouldn t allow the propellers to be damaged by the gun.6 What made Fokker s E series
revolutionary was the synchronized machine gun attached to the propellers. The gun attached to the
French plane had metal plates to protect it from the bullets but Fokker realized that they were not one
hundred percent protected. By devising a synchronizing machine gun with the propeller, there would
be no way for the aircraft to be damaged and all the pilot had to do was point the aircraft in the
direction he wanted to attact.4 The warfare of World War one was the deadliest to date due to new
fighting tactics and advancements in technology. Machine guns and trench warfare became the new,
and very deadly, technological and tactical

Crusades and the Church Essay
Crusades and the Church
At the time of the Crusades, the official church had become corrupt and politically motivated. It
should be noted, too, that crusaders did not take vows to go on crusade. The very term crusade, in
English or in any other language, is a much later invention. What we call crusades, contemporaries
knew as pilgrimages or even simply journeys. Aside from a tiny elite, people were illiterate and even
if they could read, there was no access to a Bible or any scriptural teaching. It was an age of
superstition and magic, where visions, signs and wonders were claimed by many. The masses only
source of knowledge about God was whatever the often corrupt and greedy clergy decided to teach.
The early crusades ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Regardless of motivation, an individual underwent a specific ceremony before he could be considered
a crusader. The ceremony evolved somewhat over the centuries, but its general outlines remained the
same. A would be crusader sought out an ecclesiastical authority (a priest, bishop or higher cleric) and
swore to carry out an armed pilgrimage in support of the Holy Places. He then usually received a cloth
cross which he could place on his clothes to signify his new status. Crusading vows were usually
taken in response to official preaching of a crusade by licensed churchmen. They were supposed to be
taken only by fighting men or those who could otherwise contribute to a military effort, and they were
not to be taken without the permission of the crusader s wife, since his long absence would deprive her
of what was delicately called marital rights (Pope Innocent III, in need of troops for his crusading
proposals, changed this in the thirteenth century, but in doing so he violated longstanding Church
tradition and the plain intentions of canon law). The crusader s property and people were then placed
under the protection of the Church, and he was to begin preparing to leave. If he did not discharge his
vow within a certain period of time, he might be excommunicated by the church until he kept his
word.
Crusaders were often offered an indulgence in return for participation in the hardships of a crusade.
The indulgence was later seriously abused, and

Flagstaff Arizona Mental Health Assignment
Introduction I thought a lot about this assignment. It was important, to me, that I gathered information
that would be applicable for the clients I will serve as a social worker. Here in Flagstaff Arizona, we
are fortunate to live in a community which celebrates cultural diversity. Flagstaff is home to a large
Latino, Diné and Hopi population. I wanted to critique a mental health assessment that I felt would be
culturally sensitive, appropriate and address the needs of these populations. Having said that, I
analyzed this intake form in terms of its usability for a variety of different cultures and populations. I
also aimed to assess the intake form in relation to sexual orientation and issues around gender identity.
The hope being that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I do not think there is always sufficient space to answer questions completely. For example, within the
Family Background and Childhood History section, there are questions asking the client to describe
their relationship with both their father and mother. Only one and one half lines are provided for this
response. A bit more space might encourage a better understanding of client concerns. I understand the
intake is intended to be brief but additional client explanation would be helpful. Should the intake be
re formatted so it is easier to read? Why? In general, the intake form is formatted thoughtfully. My
suggestion would be to expand certain areas, include a few more questions and provide a bit more
space between topic areas. One aspect I really appreciated was on the final page where space is
provided for the client to add any additional areas of concern. I reviewed quite a few intake forms for
this assignment and found very few that incorporated this aspect. What would you include? What
would you remove? Why? I do not feel there is anything I would remove but there is content I would
include. For example, in the beginning of the intake, a demographic section would be helpful.
Addition of this section would give the clinician further insight into the clients cultural systems.

Jay Gatsby of The Great Gatsby Essay
A man s dreams are an index to his greatness Zadok Rabinwitz
Jay Gatsby lives for his dreams. His dedication to making his dreams a reality, self made fortune and
social prestige, and the unquestionable love for Daisy Buchanan result in Jay Gatsby s greatness. In F.
Scott Fitzgerald s novel The Great Gatsby, one can determine the world s view of what greatness truly
is. Jay Gatsby is not born great, nor is greatness thrust upon him, but he achieved greatness. Jay
Gatsby represents the American Dream: life, loyalty, and the pursuit of happiness.

with one another, and each had a trust with one another (Fitzgerald 100). Cody showed Gatsby the

Cody evokes in Jay Gatsby the appreciation for wealth. To young Gatz, resting on his oars and looking
up at the railed deck, that yacht represented all the beauty and glamour in the world (Fitzgerald 100).
Jay Gatsby stares in amazement at Cody s possessions, in Gatsby eyes, being corpulent in wealth and

willingness he has to make his dreams a success. Jay Gatsby s dreams are the reason for his existence,

Self Analysis Of Mirror By Sylvia Plath
Introduction The lyric poem Mirror was written in 1961 by the late Sylvia Plath. This poem was not
published until 1971; ten years after it was written. Mirror was written two years before Plath
separated from her husband and shortly after committing suicide. Mirror speaks freely about women
and their obsession with appearance and aging. In a way Plath used Mirror, in order to portray what
she herself had been dealing with, in a time where she felt the most vulnerable and insecure as she was
getting older. This was a self reflection poem from the voice of a third party; which in this case would
be the mirror itself. The Mirror was the main character that would see many faces, after reading this
poem it would seem as if Plath was using the mirror to criticize women in general for feeling the way
they do about their appearance, when in fact the second stanza focuses on one particular woman,
which is believed to be Plath criticizing herself for the way she felt about her appearance and aging.
The theme of women and their obsession with appearance and aging is portrayed through the use of
various literary devices and no specific rhyme scheme, however, metaphors, symbolism, and imagery
are prominent throughout the entire poem.

Irony In The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow
Washington Irving was one of America s first short story writers, who used mostly humor and ironic
twists to his stories to keep people interested. One of his short stories, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,
is iconic for its style of humor and irony. The story revolves around a schoolteacher, Ichabod Crane,
and his adventure into Tarry Town, a short town in the area of Sleepy Hollow. There, he tries to woe
with Katrina, a beautiful young women who is the daughter of the rich farmer of the village. He tries
to tell her his feelings, but is unable to do so. The town hero, Brom Bones (who also has his eyes on
Katrina), sees the nervous wreck of Ichabod, and tells him the story of the ghost in the woods, a
soldier who was decapitated by a cannonball

Concert Halls ( Julia Morgan, An American Architect
These days, concert halls also have remarkable architecture, offering audiences a great show even
before they have taken their seats, says the building data company, Emporis. When concert halls are
non contextual architecture, it makes the whole hall an experience, rather than just the show. The
visitor does not even need to purchase a ticket for the show; they can merely wonder around the
exterior and interior for enjoyment. Non contextual designs are becoming more popular which let s the
uniqueness of the site and the building speak for itself, sparks interest, and inspires many of the
visitors. Julia Morgan, an American architect, once said, Architecture is a visual art, and the buildings
speak for themselves (Julia). Some architecture is contextual and amazingly blends in with its
surroundings. Other architecture is non contextual and is extremely different from the neighboring
buildings, it is astounding. Contextual architecture is very respectful and adds to the neighboring
buildings. While non contextual architecture is very distinct and is set apart from its adjacent
buildings. Shown below is New York City s Webster Hall located in Manhattan. This is an example of
contextual design. The sign is informing the visitor of the hall. Without it, it does not stand out as a

Examining The Role Of Women In Chaucer s Canterbury Tales
The Wife of Bath s Tale (Middle English: the Tale of the Wyf of Bathe) is among the most understood
of Geoffrey Chaucer s Canterbury Tales. It contribute insight into the role of females in the Late
Middle Ages and was probably of interest to Chaucer himself, for the character is one of his most
developed ones, with her Prologue twice as long as her Tale. He also goes so far as to describe two
sets of clothing for her in his General Prologue. She holds her own among the bickering pilgrims, and
evidence in the manuscripts suggests that although she was first assigned a different, plainer tale
perhaps the one told by the Shipman she received her present tale as her significance increased. When
the Knight is captured, he is condemned to death, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There have been sons of noble fathers, she argues, who were shameful and villainous, though they
shared the same blood. She does not take offense at the insult, but calmly asks him whether real
gentillesse, or noble character, can be hereditary. Her family may be poor, but real poverty lies in
covetousness, and real riches lie in having little and wanting nothing. Finally, he replies that he would
rather trust her judgment, and he asks her to choose whatever she thinks best. She offers the knight a
choice: either he can have her be ugly but loyal and good, or he can have her young and fair but also
coquettish and unfaithful. The knight ponders in silence. The two have a long, happy marriage, and the
woman becomes completely obedient to her husband. Because the knight s answer gave the woman
what she most desired, the authority to choose for herself, she becomes both beautiful and good. The
Wife of Bath concludes with a plea that Jesus Christ send all women husbands who are young, meek,
and fresh in bed, and the grace to outlive their husbands. Perhaps John is simple sely or naive, rather
than jealous. He says he loves her more than his life, so maybe John is just blinded to her betrayal
because he loves his wife so much. That might be a better moral to the story. He still cares about the
earthly world (his wife)

Great White Shark Research Paper
What do people think of when they hear Great White Shark? Maybe they think of bloodthirsty
creatures, or they think of the iconic Hollywood hit movie Jaws. But there is a growing number of
people who think of a vulnerable and declining species. To understand the mistaken sharks, you have
to understand their biology.
First off, sharks have many distinguishing physical characteristics. Like their iconic dorsal fins, A
common image of a shark is their dorsal fin cutting through the water. Then the most dangerous part
of the shark its teeth. With those teeth and a body weight of 5,940 to 7,040 pounds. A Great White can
hit like a truck. Then Great Whites can grow to 21 feet. Sharks can be fearsome creatures (Lineback
National Geographic). However sharks are misunderstood for being mindless bloodthirsty predators. A
Great White s diet consists of seals and sea lions mainly. When a shark sees a surfer it may look like a
seal or sea lion. So this can result in a shark attacking. The way a shark attacks is the shark will size
up its victim then will launch into action. The shark will come from a blind spot and will either hit it s
victim then bit. So when sharks do attack humans, it is rarely on purpose (McCosker World Book

What Is America A New Identity
America, a New Identity America is not becoming a universal nation. However, it is in the process of
redefining the identity of what an American is. The fault for this is widespread growth of certain
ethnic groups caused by immigration, paired with technology that allows for unprecedented
connectivity. Consequently, this allows minority groups to rapidly spread their culture and ideas
throughout the country and influence the majorities like never before. Nowhere is this more apparent
than in pop culture; where Bollywood, Korean dramas, and Japanese animation have had a significant
impact on the tastes of America as a whole.
The racial identity of America is shifting to represent a more mixed standard of our national color.

Corporal Punishment in Children; Right or Wrong
{text:bookmark start} Corporal Punishment with Children: Right or Wrong {text:bookmark end} ?
How properly to discipline a child is an age old question. Countless numbers of parents have had to
make this decision. Many of these parents were raised in homes that used spanking as the main form
of discipline. Most people can readily recount each time he, or she received a spanking for an offense,
and even remember what kind of instrument was used to inflict the punishment. Whether it was a belt,
a switch, a hand, or a paddle, this form of punishment always left a lasting impression. For centuries
spanking has been the main form of punishment used by parents to correct bad behavior in their

If the parent then punishes the child with a spanking, nothing is accomplished. The child is not acting
out just to make noise. He, or she, simply doesn t understand the situation. Spanking must always be
appropriate to the age of the child, and the seriousness of the bad behavior. In an interview with the
pastors of National Park Assembly of God Church in Hot Springs, Arkansas, who are also the parents
of three young children of their own, take a biblical approach to punishment. Both state that, spanking
should be a final solution, with strict guidelines. Spanking, when done with an attitude of
encouragement, love and correction rather than anger causes no love lost between either the parent or
the child, and does no harm to the child. (personal communication, Nov. 23, 2008) Pastor Mason and
his wife go on to state that the difference in the children of our society today, as compared to days
past, are much worse due in part to the lack of proper punishment when children misbehave. In
response to the question, Do you think that if more parents used corporal punishment our children, and
thusly, our communities would see a drop in bad behavior overall? the pastor states, haven t we seen a
rise in bad behavior since the removal and disapproval of corporal punishment? The same could be
expected of the opposite action. In their final comments, the pastors state that, spanking should be
used with particular care and appropriate to the behavior. When used

What Is A Important Lesson Essay
Lessons, They re many of them that we need to and can learn about in life even if they seem pointless.
Well I learned a very important lesson back when I was young I think it s still very important to this
day. I m in 4th grade and I was still young and didn t know a lot of things during that time and also
thought like most kids that school was miserable and just wanted to get through the whole day. It s
about time to go when our teacher announces that we are going to be learning about bicycle safety
tomorrow and if we have our own bicycle we can bring it. My head perked up and I was paying a little
attention to what she was saying and it sounded a little interesting to me but there was a problem with
this. I had my own bicycle but the only thing is I didn t know how to ride it well more like I didn t
know how to keep my self balanced. Since I didn t know how to keep myself balanced on a bike I

causes my peers and other people to think that I lack emotion, and I tend to bottle them up which can
become problematic in the future. I am not an outspoken person, and approach all of my relationships,

not want to admit this, I rarely am the one who frees up time or makes time for those I am close with. I

Positive Male Role Model
The Impact Of Positive Male Role Models A Comprehensive Analysis Role models are essential for
the development of an individual; particularly for young males. One of the leading sources of
inspiration and innovation for an individual is typically their father. For this reason, the role of the
father is considered one of the most important ones there is for an individual. There are many benefits
for an individual to have a father figure including having someone to look up to and teach them about
various aspects of life. Furthermore, scholarly research has shown that having a father figure is critical
for individuals because of the impact it has on the ability of an individual to develop their success in
their various endeavors (Ho, 2014). Researchers also note that not having positive male role models
can have substantial consequences for an individual as well including delinquency and depression
(Markowitz, 2016). There are many areas where having a positive male role model can make a critical
difference in the ¬¬life of an individual; especially in their ability to succeed. For these reasons,
having a positive male role model is considered one of the most important types of relationship for an
individual to have throughout their years of development. This writing examines the importance of
this relationship as well as the various impacts it may have on the development and success of an
individual. The paternal relationship is different than the maternal relationship in

Jam Fusion Cafe
Jam Fusion Cafe (Jam!) is a breakfast and lunch cafe located in the heart of downtown Bozeman.
Opening at the very end of last year, the owner Aron Parker stated in an article in the Bozeman Daily
Chronicle that Jam! offers riffs on traditional breakfast offerings which is very accurate. Foods with
names like Elvis Crepes provide a modern, festive spin on traditional breakfast items.
Specializing in gourmet brunch foods, the cafe has an inclusive menu. From the perspective of a celiac
the gluten free coconut banana pancakes made with chia seeds will change your life. As a side with
my coconut banana pancake, I chose hash browns and homemade ketchup, much better than Heinz
ketchup. The single pancake was topped with fresh bananas and shredded coconut flakes with a side
of thin sliced hashbrowns perfectly crisped. One single pancake cost four dollars with a side of
hashbrowns for $3, overall very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food provided. Prices range

Ebola Virus Chapter Summary
This book took place in the late 1980 s, and it is based upon an outbreak of the Ebola virus in a
monkey house located in the Washington, D.C. suburb of Reston, Virginia. The first occurrence of an
Ebola like virus (Marburg) takes place in Kenya and a French expatriate named Charles Monet is the
first to die from this disease. His terrible and excruciatingly fatal death is described in the most
horrific details by Preston. The hospital staff who treated Monet became infected with the virus as
well, traveling fast throughout the hospital and carried on more deaths. The Marburg virus was first to
explode in a vaccine factory in Germany in 1967. Over the next several chapters, the book describes
outbreaks that occurred four years before Monet s death. Preston then goes on to explaining how ...

Unfortunately for the U.S. scientists and military, the mission is unsuccessful, but the doctor who put
the expedition together was able to stow the equipment used when the cave was treated as a Hot Zone.
This experience and equipment made the eventual decontamination project at Reston possible. The
story ends with the book s author visiting Kitum Cave to explore the place that is still suspected to be

The Tortilla Curtain
The Tortilla Curtain Summary
I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book Tortilla Curtain. The main ideas of the book are especially
significant in the political climate today. The books titles expresses the main idea of the book. The
Tortilla Curtain refers to the physical boundary between Mexico and the California boarder. It also
represents the deeper ideological and sociological chasm separating the Mexican immigrants and
Americans.
The book has two main character Delaney Mossbacher and Candido Rincon. They live in the same
area but have very different upbringing and life s. Delaney is white and lives in an upper middle class
town called Arroyo Blanco Estates in Los Aneles. He lives with his wife and kids and lives a normal
middle class America life. He hikes, enjoys nature, and is financially stable. He considers himself pro

Relationship Between Wildlife And Wildlife
In areas of the world where economic development has been in delicate balance with protecting
wildlife and natural environments, conflict has arisen between humans and the wildlife. In Africa
(bless the rains) and Asia habitat is being replaced by small scale agricultural needs, and agribusiness
(1) resulting in human wildlife conflict; within India alone as many as 1144 people were killed
between April 2014 and May 2017 (2) according to their environment ministry. This increased conflict
between species has had detrimental impacts on conservation efforts, such as with the Asian elephant.
Elephants have seen incredible habitat loss due to human encroachment, now with about 20% of the
world s human population living in or near the present range of them (4). As a result of this the
interactions between the two have become tense. Cases have been documented of them crop raiding
(3) and in parts of Sumatra it can be the most significant source of park people conflict. (3) As these
crops can be a large part of local people s livelihoods, ensuring as little wildlife ruins them as possible
is essential. However a study conducted showed that elephants raided crops year round at a rate of
0.53 a day in their study area, and (3) such regular interactions resulted in 24 deaths within the study
area over a 12 year period. With their loss of habitat comes a loss of food and resources, coupled with
the fact that human settlements will have a regular supply of food, it only makes sense

Comparing Beowulf And The Arabian Nights
Stories have existed as roots to different cultures for ages, each explaining hidden secrets or
information that might have been unattainable beforehand. However, each author has a different style
of writing and each storyteller shares a different voice to their audience. When reading certain stories
one can understand the fundamental differences amongst cultures. In particular, Beowulf translated by
Burton Raffel and The Arabian Nights which is a compilation of various authors. These two tales from
completely different areas of the world may seem wildly different, but surprisingly enough their
culture may be more similar than originally thought. The two national epics listed explain different
things about their culture, but surprisingly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the topic of love comes about, both cultures appear to have different ideas regarding the topic.
The Arabian Nights has quite a few stories regarding this topic, whilst Beowulf seems to hardly ever
reference it. This already tells the reader that while one culture has much to do with love, the other
perhaps only has marriages for an heir. The Arabian Nights also usually has the theme of how love and
desire lead to trouble and makes one act foolishly, perhaps because half of a relationship usually
includes a woman. The stories also share different views on brawn versus brains. Beowulf prefers the
former and The Arabian Nights, the latter. When encountering enemies, Beowulf only uses his bare
hands or a sword to overcome his enemies whereas in The Arabian Nights trickery and cleverness are
used. This then shows that the English culture prefers to leap before they look and rush into situations
while Saudi Arabia prioritizes thought process and intelligence. Once again the stories also differ
when it comes to wealth. Although both stories incorporate wealth into their tales, Beowulf seems to
exalt it while The Arabian Nights tend to turn more away from it. This may be attributed to the fact
that the English wanted to be rich more than anything and viewed money as one of the highest
priorities in life, and Saudi Arabia preferred beauty and wisdom. Either way, both cultures express
many differences when their National Epics are looked

Analysis Of The News Story
Brief summary of the news story
A recent study found that people with schizophrenia had a higher rate of dying from all common
causes including heart disease, cancer, respiratory failure, suicide and diabetes. While the disorder
itself does not cause earlier death, it is believed to lead to higher risk factor exposure, such as poor
eating or smoking and likely contributes to greater challenges dealing with other conditions such as
diabetes or CVD. Many people with schizophrenia also complain of their health concerns being
ignored or not taken seriously in light of their disorder, causing some health issues to progress farther
without detection than in the general population. 1

If so, what are your impressions of what the general public has had to say about the news story?
The news story has received moderate attention on Facebook and Twitter having been posted by at
least 10 different news and health related sources on both platforms, and getting many shares and
comments. Based on the comments, the general response to the story is anger and disappointment that
those with schizophrenia experience such a higher mortality rate and that there is still so little done to
address this inequality. Many people also expressed frustration that the subject of the article is being
presented as new and novel findings when they feel it has been an obvious issue for many years.
What are some potential problems of reporting of epidemiological research in the news?
Common problems that arise when reporting epidemiological research are misinterpretation,
exaggeration of results and failure to address limitations. Results are often misinterpreted in news
stories as the authors rarely have expertise in the scientific area they are writing about. Studies may
use complex scientific language that is difficult for the reporter to

Ecstasy Research Papers
A General Overview of Ecstasy 3,4 Methylenedioxymethamphetamine, better known by its street
name, ecstasy or molly, is a type of illegal, synthetic drug that is typically found in the form of pills,

Among the ages ranging from 18 to 25, about 25 percent of them have admitted they have used the
drug at least once in their lifetime (Lesley, W. R. et al., 2007). These drugs are typically used at
nightclubs and raves, but recently, due to its popularity, it can be more commonly found in homes for

more negative outcomes than positive. Over time its positive effects have been proven wrong, and
many negative psychological effects on the human mind and body have emerged. For example,
abusers may experience memory loss, depression, anxiety, and impaired decision making (Brecht

The head coach Chip Kelly has been up against the Lions once during a game in 2013 when he first
started working with the Eagles and the Eagles won 34 20.
Lions could have advantage during Thanksgiving football event
The Thanksgiving football experts say that Detroit looks to be the team with the advantage so far
leading into today s game. Detroit was 1 7 ahead of their bye week, and they have won their last two
outings. The Lions have played every Thanksgiving since 1934, so it s like a tradition for them to be
playing football today.
The experts say the team needs more offensive production, but they were successful last week when
they played the Raiders and used a three back system complete with Ameer Abdullah, Theo Riddick
and Joique Bell. If they want to do well today, wideout Calvin Johnson also needs to keep up the good
work, as well.
Cornerback Darius Slay is also someone to watch, since he has had a factor in the team s defensive
turnaround. He limited Amari Cooper of the Raiders to just one catch for four yards. So, if he can
remain close to the Eagles wideouts, then he can likely keep the pressure going on

Socrates Vs Niccolo Machiavelli Essay
Socrates and Niccolo Machiavelli are revered as some of the most influential thinkers of their
respective times. Both of these thinkers developed their thoughts while Athens and Florence, their
respective cities, faced political unrest. By questioning the people of Athens through their period of
turmoil following a shift in government, Socrates was able to formulate opinions regarding how a
government should operate and how people should rule. Centuries later during the Renaissance era,
Machiavelli s Italy was in a divided state with the Medici family holding rule over his native Florence.

Socrates would view Machiavelli s prince as unnecessarily strict and limiting to the knowledge that
people crave to possess. Machiavelli s leanings towards the state over the individual starkly contrast
Socrates quest for individual knowledge through questioning.
Throughout his trial in Athens and when facing execution, Socrates solidly stuck beside his belief that
life without this sort of examination is not worth living (Apology, 38a). Socrates deeply believed in
philosophy. He spent his whole life seeking wisdom through moral and political questions and even
when addressing a jury with the possibility of execution looming over him he declared I shall never
stop practicing philosophy and exhorting you and indicating the truth for everyone (Apology, 29d).
The truth and the means of finding it were the most important thing to Socrates. Even though
questioning was Socrates way to achieve power, he still believed in following the law. Practicing free
speech and resisting political tyranny are not harmful as long as they fall within the constraints of the
law. In explaining to Crito why escaping execution was not an option, Socrates questions Crito saying,
Do you imagine that a city can continue to exist and not be turned upside down, if the legal
judgements which are pronounced in it have no force but are nullified and destroyed (Crito, 50b). In
refusing to escape his death sentence Socrates proves his

They solve this problem by fighting back against the dinosaurs and by using their resources to defeat

Judicial Selection Process And The State Of New Jersey
In this writing assignment I will discuss the judicial selection process in the state of Virginia and the
state of New Jersey. I will talk about the specific qualifications needed for each state. I will present a
brief overview of the steps an individual has to learn to become an attorney, which can contribute to a
judgeship. I will also discuss the step of removing a judge from office.
The six steps to become a judge: Step one is to attend undergraduate school, earn a law degree, pass a
Uniform Bar Exam, become a practicing attorney, and obtain a judgeship and complete training. The
Virginia judiciary is composed of the Supreme Court, the court of appeals, the circuit court, and the
district court (Staffer, 2016). The district court has limited jurisdiction. In 1999, the Republican
majority established a joint judicial advisory committee to examine and assess candidates for
vacancies on the Supreme Court and the court of appeals and to provide detailed information to the
general assembly on their qualifications (Staffer, 2016). The local citizen commissions was set up by
the Republican legislators to evaluate the nominees to be on the circuit court and district court.
The legislatives selects the state court judges in Virginia, which is identical to the selection process for
the supreme court, court of appeals and circuit court judges. As outlined in Article VI of the Virginia
Constitution, judges are elected by a majority vote of the Virginia General Assembly

in his life, he started off in a very poor state yet through hard work and determination he came out on

Around 71 B.C.,a few years before Augustus was born, Gaius Octavius started pursuing a job within
the senate, but because of his latin instead of roman descent the pursuit of the job was very difficult
for him. He continued pursuing the job in senate till around 70 B.C. when he won a quaestorship, a
lower place in the government that entails supervising tax collection and doing special tasks for
consuls in Rome, and joined the senate. Based on his latin descent winning a questorship was no small
feat so it was no surprise when he was offered a spouse from one of Rome s great trician clans. The
only problem with this was he was already married to Ancharia who is not very well recorded in
history so people have no firm evidence for why Gaius Octavius suddenly married Atia, a member of
the Julian family making Julius Caesar his great uncle. Together Atia and Gaius had two children,
Octavius the younger and Gaius Octavian, named after his father, along with the one from Ancharia
the second of the two being who we know as Augustus.

The LA Riots of 1992 still stands as one of if not the most critical event that tapped into the way we
view systematic racism by sparking deep rooted dialogue about the intermingling of race, economics
and injustice in America for African Americans. When looking back at the riots 25 years later, society
has often received the needless white perspective and the necessary African American voice.

and Korean communities were at odds with one another without understanding each other s shared
struggles as a result of the gradual segregation between wealthy white communities and impoverished
minority enclaves. With the winner of the 2017 Sundance audience NEXT Award Gook, director,

Epilogue To The Count s Lancer
I noticed the mercenary company with the Count s lancers and carriage was located behind the stage,

men at arms and another dozen royal archers escorting Princess Wyrd to the stage. The Black Prince
and the Count were waiting for her on the stage, along with a number of courtiers. She wore a
huntsman outfit, a green leather shirt and a green cloak with tan colored leather pants and riding boots.
Julie kicked her mule and trotted up to me. The princess isn t letting her brother stand alone in the
spotlight.
She has more backbone than I thought, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

disgusted at the outcome. His sister had gotten the better of him.
Commands followed and regimental warriors turn in place facing right, turning their line into a
column. More commands followed and the 1st regiment marched around the rampart with the 2nd and
3rd following in their own columns of five men abreast. I saw Captain Minetos trot up and down his
column of men, as did the other captains along their own regiments. Soon after the Prince and his
noble escort rode their horses to the front of the column. He is making a show of it, I thought. I expect
the Black Prince to drop back and get in the carriage once it is out of sight of the city.
Like us, Count Vee and the lancers waited until the army got well ahead of us before departing.
Neither of us wanted to eat their dust. Prince Wyrd carriage followed behind Count Vee s, which
surprised me. I thought she would led the Count s party because of her status, princess before count.
Perhaps the princess wants the lancer protection in the front, I

Supplier Diversity In The 1980 s In the early 1980 s, the small town of Clarkston, Georgia could be best described as a neighborly and old fashioned southern town It was a place where kids played baseball, everybody knew their neighbors, and English was the spoken language However, things changed by the mid 1980 s, when Clarkstonbecame a large resettlement location for refugees from mainly the middle east. The town was appealing because of affordable housing and easily accessible jobs in Atlanta. Hong came to Bill with an idea to start offering international food. This idea was successful because there were no international food joints within thirty miles of Clarkston..This adaptation and action saved Bill s store and brought him closer with the refugees, as they are his main customers. This adaptation is something many business owners could learn from. For example, you cannot fight change, you can only adapt and change with it. This ideology is shown by the new police chief, Tony J. Scipio, who goesundercover for two weeks to learn about the community and their opinions on how the police interacts with them. What Scipio found is there wasn t trust between the police and the community anymore after many unjust acts by police. The refugees felt singled out as they had limited knowledge of the law.Scipio lost 7 officers within the month either by quitting or being fired. He turned the police force into a group of people who treated the community members with courtesy, professionalism, and respect (179). Scipio did this through diversity training and writing many violations to his officers who did not uphold the rules. These changes helped repair the harm done by previous officers This adaptation shows how you can heal governmental distrust within a community in constant ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Juvenile Vs Juvenile Justice System The criminal justice system conducts trials, determines guilt, and decides what kind of punishments to give to adults who have committed some sort of crime. Adults, however, are not the only ones who commit crimes. Kids under 18 can commit crimes too. In 1899, the juvenile justice system began to form. People thought that kids should be treated differently after committing crimes. Being younger, they were believed to be more able to rehabilitate than adults, the criminal justice system was believed to be too harsh for them, and some believed that juvenile s behavior was based strongly on their parents and the society they lived in. In a peer reviewed article titled Are we criminalizing adolescence? there is a statement that in a constitutional sense, youth are different than adults. In this essay, I will talk about what the juvenile justice system is, what it does, how it is different than the criminal justice system, and how some people believe it should change. As stated before, the juvenile justice system began to take form around the 19th century. A simple definition of the American criminal justice system, provided by Wikipedia, is the primary system used to handle youth who are convicted of criminal offenses. The main goal of the American juvenile justice system is to rehabilitate offenders. They want to intervene early in offender s lives, hoping to prevent them from being repeat offenders when they become adults. Another peer reviewed article titled Natural born ... Removing the air forces of the world is like taking a step back in time when wars were only fought on land or sea. WWI began only eleven short years after the Wright brothers achieved powered flight in 19031 and yet aircrafts were being used for surveillance and eventually combat purposes. It is understood that these aircrafts were primitive, but they laid down the foundation for what we know today as fighter jets. It should be noted, too, that crusaders did not take vows to go on crusade. The very term crusade, in English or in any other language, is a much later invention. What we call crusades, contemporaries knew as pilgrimages or even simply journeys. Aside from a tiny elite, people were illiterate and even if they could read, there was no access to a Bible or any scriptural teaching. It was an age of superstition and magic, where visions, signs and wonders were claimed by many. Regardless of motivation, an individual underwent a specific ceremony before he could be considered a crusader. The ceremony evolved somewhat over the centuries, but its general outlines remained the same. A would be crusader sought out an ecclesiastical authority (a priest, bishop or higher cleric) and swore to carry out an armed pilgrimage in support of the Holy Places. He then usually received a cloth cross which he could place on his clothes to signify his new status. Crusading vows were usually taken in response to official preaching of a crusade by licensed churchmen. They were supposed to be taken only by fighting men or those who could otherwise contribute to a military effort, and they were not to be taken without the permission of the crusader s wife, since his long absence would deprive her of what was delicately called marital rights (Pope Innocent III, in need of troops for his crusading proposals, changed this in the thirteenth century, but in doing so he violated longstanding Church tradition and the plain intentions of canon law). The crusader s property and people were then placed under the protection of the Church, and he was to begin preparing to leave. If he did not discharge his vow within a certain period of time, he might be excommunicated by the church until he kept his word. Crusaders were often offered an indulgence in return for participation in the hardships of a crusade. The indulgence was later seriously abused, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In general, the intake form is formatted thoughtfully. My suggestion would be to expand certain areas, include a few more questions and provide a bit more space between topic areas. One aspect I really appreciated was on the final page where space is provided for the client to add any additional areas of concern. I reviewed quite a few intake forms for this assignment and found very few that incorporated this aspect. What would you include? What would you remove? Why? • 26. Relationship Between Wildlife And Wildlife In areas of the world where economic development has been in delicate balance with protecting wildlife and natural environments, conflict has arisen between humans and the wildlife. In Africa (bless the rains) and Asia habitat is being replaced by small scale agricultural needs, and agribusiness (1) resulting in human wildlife conflict; within India alone as many as 1144 people were killed between April 2014 and May 2017 (2) according to their environment ministry. This increased conflict between species has had detrimental impacts on conservation efforts, such as with the Asian elephant. Elephants have seen incredible habitat loss due to human encroachment, now with about 20% of the world s human population living in or near the present range of them (4). As a result of this the interactions between the two have become tense. Cases have been documented of them crop raiding (3) and in parts of Sumatra it can be the most significant source of park people conflict. (3) As these crops can be a large part of local people s livelihoods, ensuring as little wildlife ruins them as possible is essential. However a study conducted showed that elephants raided crops year round at a rate of 0.53 a day in their study area, and (3) such regular interactions resulted in 24 deaths within the study area over a 12 year period. With their loss of habitat comes a loss of food and resources, coupled with the fact that human settlements will have a regular supply of food, it only makes sense ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 28. Comparing Beowulf And The Arabian Nights Stories have existed as roots to different cultures for ages, each explaining hidden secrets or information that might have been unattainable beforehand. However, each author has a different style of writing and each storyteller shares a different voice to their audience. When reading certain stories one can understand the fundamental differences amongst cultures. In particular, Beowulf translated by Burton Raffel and The Arabian Nights which is a compilation of various authors. These two tales from completely different areas of the world may seem wildly different, but surprisingly enough their culture may be more similar than originally thought. The two national epics listed explain different things about their culture, but surprisingly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the topic of love comes about, both cultures appear to have different ideas regarding the topic. The Arabian Nights has quite a few stories regarding this topic, whilst Beowulf seems to hardly ever reference it. This already tells the reader that while one culture has much to do with love, the other perhaps only has marriages for an heir. The Arabian Nights also usually has the theme of how love and desire lead to trouble and makes one act foolishly, perhaps because half of a relationship usually includes a woman. The stories also share different views on brawn versus brains. Beowulf prefers the former and The Arabian Nights, the latter. When encountering enemies, Beowulf only uses his bare hands or a sword to overcome his enemies whereas in The Arabian Nights trickery and cleverness are used. This then shows that the English culture prefers to leap before they look and rush into situations while Saudi Arabia prioritizes thought process and intelligence. Once again the stories also differ when it comes to wealth. Although both stories incorporate wealth into their tales, Beowulf seems to exalt it while The Arabian Nights tend to turn more away from it. This may be attributed to the fact that the English wanted to be rich more than anything and viewed money as one of the highest priorities in life, and Saudi Arabia preferred beauty and wisdom. Based on the comments, the general response to the story is anger and disappointment that those with schizophrenia experience such a higher mortality rate and that there is still so little done to address this inequality. Many people also expressed frustration that the subject of the article is being presented as new and novel findings when they feel it has been an obvious issue for many years. What are some potential problems of reporting of epidemiological research in the news? Socrates would view Machiavelli s prince as unnecessarily strict and limiting to the knowledge that people crave to possess. Machiavelli s leanings towards the state over the individual starkly contrast Socrates quest for individual knowledge through questioning. Throughout his trial in Athens and when facing execution, Socrates solidly stuck beside his belief that life without this sort of examination is not worth living (Apology, 38a). Socrates deeply believed in philosophy. He spent his whole life seeking wisdom through moral and political questions and even when addressing a jury with the possibility of execution looming over him he declared I shall never stop practicing philosophy and exhorting you and indicating the truth for everyone (Apology, 29d). The truth and the means of finding it were the most important thing to Socrates. Even though questioning was Socrates way to achieve power, he still believed in following the law. Practicing free speech and resisting political tyranny are not harmful as long as they fall within the constraints of the law. In explaining to Crito why escaping execution was not an option, Socrates questions Crito saying, Do you imagine that a city can continue to exist and not be turned upside down, if the legal judgements which are pronounced in it have no force but are nullified and destroyed (Crito, 50b). • 41. Judicial Selection Process And The State Of New Jersey In this writing assignment I will discuss the judicial selection process in the state of Virginia and the state of New Jersey. I will talk about the specific qualifications needed for each state. I will present a brief overview of the steps an individual has to learn to become an attorney, which can contribute to a judgeship. I will also discuss the step of removing a judge from office. The six steps to become a judge: Step one is to attend undergraduate school, earn a law degree, pass a Uniform Bar Exam, become a practicing attorney, and obtain a judgeship and complete training. The Virginia judiciary is composed of the Supreme Court, the court of appeals, the circuit court, and the district court (Staffer, 2016). The district court has limited jurisdiction. In 1999, the Republican majority established a joint judicial advisory committee to examine and assess candidates for vacancies on the Supreme Court and the court of appeals and to provide detailed information to the general assembly on their qualifications (Staffer, 2016). The local citizen commissions was set up by the Republican legislators to evaluate the nominees to be on the circuit court and district court. Caesar Augustus, one of the strongest and most strategic leaders in roman history, but this was all much later in his life, he started off in a very poor state yet through hard work and determination he came out on top to be known throughout the generations. Around 71 B.C.,a few years before Augustus was born, Gaius Octavius started pursuing a job within the senate, but because of his latin instead of roman descent the pursuit of the job was very difficult for him. He continued pursuing the job in senate till around 70 B.C. when he won a quaestorship, a lower place in the government that entails supervising tax collection and doing special tasks for consuls in Rome, and joined the senate. Based on his latin descent winning a questorship was no small feat so it was no surprise when he was offered a spouse from one of Rome s great trician clans. The only problem with this was he was already married to Ancharia who is not very well recorded in history so people have no firm evidence for why Gaius Octavius suddenly married Atia, a member of the Julian family making Julius Caesar his great uncle. Summary Of The LA Riots As a result of a detestable court decision and the visceral televised imagery of the beaten Rodney King, police brutality became recognized as a ceaseless injustice oppressing black communities. These events managed to spur a conversation most relevant today but one that many continue to disregard. The LA Riots of 1992 still stands as one of if not the most critical event that tapped into the way we view systematic racism by sparking deep rooted dialogue about the intermingling of race, economics and injustice in America for African Americans. When looking back at the riots 25 years later, society has often received the needless white perspective and the necessary African American voice. However, many forget how many Korean Americans were affected by these events. At the time, black and Korean communities were at odds with one another without understanding each other s shared struggles as a result of the gradual segregation between wealthy white communities and impoverished minority enclaves. With the winner of the 2017 Sundance audience NEXT Award Gook, director, writer and actor Justin Chon remembers the 1992 LA Riots with the rare Korean American perspective, one that reveals itself as a poignant picture of race and friendship.
