My Papas Waltz And My Father s Song
Every one of us has a childhood, some of us may experience a memorable one, while some of us want
to erase it from our memory. Everyone also has their own personal feelings towards a father s figure
due to their personal experiences they have as a child. The poems My Father s Song, by Simon J.
Ortiz, and My Papa s Waltz, by Theodore Roethke, are two similar poems written about a father and
child relationship. My Papa s Waltz creates a debate whether the father son relationship is sweet
loving memory or a confession of childhood abuse. The two poems are spoken from the child s point
of view during a memorable event in their childhood. The poems My Father s Song and My Papa s
Waltz both share a theme of admiration each kid has looking upon their father and a warm memory.
The writers use a variety of poetic devices such as tone, word choice, imagery, and figurative
language. Firstly, In My Father s Song, the tone is nostalgia, it s a perfect demonstration of emotion
the speaker feels about his father. My Papa s Waltz, poem s tone is playful and light created by the
pleasant rhythm iambic, which makes the poem short and sweet. The tone is promoted through word
choice, Both writers use similar word choice to strengthen the theme of admiration. In the poem, My
Papa s Waltz, gives us a both and negative feeling, he uses words such as Still clinging to your shirt
this shows that he hangs onto his father s shirt, not wanting to let go after his father waltzing him off
to bed. His descriptions of the dance give us a fun, playful feeling. Despite the fact the waltz is tough,
he still loves his dad. In My Father s song, the speaker remembers his father s voice. The speaker
describes his experience as His voice, the slight catch, the depth from his this thin crest, the tremble of
emotion in something he has just said to his son, his song (Ortiz 3 7). The speaker remembers every
detail about his father. The child misses his father and cared profoundly about him, especially more
tonight Wanting to say things, I miss my father tonight (1 2)
Thirdly, Both writers use a lot of imagery in their poems, they use a big amount of imagination to tell
their experiences. Each poem is developed out of

Why Is Social Class Important In An Inspector Calls
Social class in important in An Inspector Calls. This is because the Birling family all helped to
contribute to Eva s suicide. If all the characters didn t think that class was important, Eva would be
alive. The older characters, Mr and Mrs Birling who mainly care about class. This is because they are
very old fashioned and traditional. Mr Birling keen to be knighted to show his hard fought rise to the
upper class. He also wants Sheila to marry Gerald, whose father is a successful businessman. Mr
Birling says I m sure she ll make you happy. Happy suggests that he will look after her by loving her
but also supporting her financially. Eva was cheap labour to Mr Birling and thinks they should work
for the lowest possible wages . Lowest suggests that Mr Birling doesn t care about his workers who

She likes gossip as she heard that a respectable man, Alderman Meggarty, went to The Palace Variety
Theatre. The Palace Variety Theatre was a place for prostitutes, mainly lower class women. Mrs

worker of Mr Birling s. Disgusting suggests that Mrs Birling finds that a man of a higher class going
with a women of a lower class as one of the worst things to do. Sheila Birling is in the class as her
family. This is important as she is made to act like Mrs Birling. This is because Mrs Birling says

Antz Civics
The movie Antz relates to the ideas we have studied in Civics in many ways. The idea in the movie
that different ants have different thoughts on how the country should be run, the idea of what a good
ant citizen should be like and the idea that all ants have their own physical and psychological needs
and wants are all similar topics we have discussed in Civics concerning the world we live in today.
The first character I will discuss is Z. Z believed that he should get a choice in how he contributes to
colony, and a say in what goes on in the colony. Z wanted a place where he could express himself.
These ideas are what lead Z in search of place with more freedom, Insectopia. Evidently, Z believes in
democracy. This government would have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They do what they are told, openly support the ways of the colony and are hesitant to disobey the
rules. An example of this is when Z was sharing his unhappiness of the way the colony is run to
Azteca. Regardless of what her friend was saying, Azteca stayed true to her colony and verbalized her
support for the government system. A colony needs loyal ants like this. Another example is when Z
asks to switch places with weaver and become a soldier for a day. Although Z is a good friend, weaver
is reluctant to say yes as this is against the rules. Members that follow these rules are vital to the
success of a colony. In these ways, Azteca and Weaver act in the interest of the colony. Characters that
acted in their own interests are Z and General Mandible. They make choices based on their own
beliefs and what makes them happy, regardless of the impacts it has on the colony. An example of this
is when Z and Princess Bala fall out of the colony and on to outside land. The princess demands that
she is escorted back as the princess is very important to a colony. Despite this and the needs of the
colony, Z marches towards Insectopia, prioritizing his desire for freedom over the survival of the
colony. Another example is when General Mandible attempted to mass murder thousands of ants
because he felt they were too weak. This kind of behavior is selfish and only supports the interests of
him gaining more power. As

At the age of forty six, he returned to India in 1914. He spent the next four years touring the country
and studying and learning the situation in India. Mahatma Gandhi was a unique national leader. He
combined in himself the role of a socio religious reformer and a leader of nationalist movement. He
made Satya and Ahimsa as the basis of the new social order. He followed the principles of non
violence, peacefulness, and non cooperation to achieve freedom. Freedom was to be achieved through
non violence and non cooperation with the ruling class. He said that fearlessness is the essential part
of Satyagraha. He desired to remove all kinds of fear from the minds of the people. Mahatma Gandhi
returned to India from South Africa in 1914, took control of and radically transformed the Indian
nationalist movement, and led several great popular movements that eventually wore down the British
government and led to Indian independence. Mohandas Gandhi travelled in a train with no AC to
reach Champaran, to hold India s first civil disobedience movement. Under the British rule, many
farmers in the Champaran district of Bihar were forced to grow indigo in their lands, much to their
dismay. To fight this, a money lender named Raj Kumar Shukla reached out to Gandhiji and requested
him to come and help them. he came down to this district on April 10 of 1917 with a band of

The Nature Of Happiness By Daniel Gilbert
You may have guessed Stumbling on Happiness by Daniel Gilbert is all about what makes people
happy, how to make people happy, and why people feel happy in certain situations. This assumption is
correct, but Gilbert digs much deeper than these three simple questions. He discusses the nature of
happiness and explains the many, many psychological illusions that alter our perception of happiness.
Gilbert focuses on why happiness is so difficult to measure and why many people have bias views
regarding happiness. After reading this book, I feel as if I have a more insightful view about the
human mind and how it works. Personally, I think the following quote by Gilbert sums up his book:
Our desire to control is so powerful, and the feeling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Humans can imagine the future and make plans for later, whereas animals can only make predictions
about the immediate future. We often look forward in time to reduce the impact of unpleasant
situations and to try to control and change our future. Gilbert goes on to describe what happiness is.
He says happiness is a subjective feeling , meaning it is impossible to compare two different
individuals level of happiness at a given time. When humans try to compare happiness they often
compare their happiness in the present with something they experienced in the past. Gilbert explains
that even when our minds compare two different things in the present we still tend to fail to notice
differences. Everyone has a blind spot of visual perception that we fill in with what we think should be
there. Gilbert compares this to our memory. Humans only store facts and feelings in our memory that
we believe are important, so when we look back at a certain memory we simply fill in the missing
details. In one of the studies Gilbert discusses, he describes how this filling in process happens when
we imagine the future as well. Our brains fill in details about future experiences, and we are unaware
this process is happening. We don t notice the important details we may be leaving out. Humans see
things that are closer to them with more complexity than those things that are far

Essay On Beauty Of The Yard
Mesmerizing beauty of the yard:
Gazing out of my bedroom window one night, I witnessed a breathtaking view of the yard. As if you
are transferred into a fairy tale. The sky seemed like a piece of beautiful painting. The whole ambiance
of the space was captivating. The fluffy clouds were dancing around the moon making the light falling
on the ground to glimmer dramatically. By the passing time the cloud shift shapes into something new
and exciting each time. The stone pathway led one to the exquisite marble fountain. The soft
moonlight hitting the marble make it shine as white as pearls. The moonlight made everything, the
flowers the tree leaves and bushes all glittered like jewels. A light breeze was making the branches
dance to their own rhythm. The cool wind carrying the smell of the flowers was a reminder of a spring
day. The chirping of night life added more life to the whole scenario. The soothing environment of the
yard portrayed the idea of how the heaven must look like.
Horror of the yard: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The horrific scenario was as if you are living your worst nightmare. The thick clouds covering the
moon made it impossible for the light to penetrate through. This made the yard dark and gloomy as a
graveyard. The transformation of the clouds from one shape to another made the night even scarier.
The stone pathway led one to a dirty and broken marble fountain. The little light that manages to pass
through the clouds highlights the broken fountain more revealing its flaws. The moonlight escaping
the clutches of the clouds cast terrifying shadows. The cold breeze sways the branches making them
dance like ghosts. The air carried a horrible stench of decomposing leaves and flowers. This made the
scenario much more unsettling. The howling of the night beasts made the night petrifying. The
terrifying environment of the yard portrayed the idea of how your nightmare would look like if they

Love and Lust in Play-By-Play, Sex without Love, and...
Love and Lust in Play By Play, Sex without Love, and Junior Year Abroad
Lust is an incredibly strong feeling that can prove to be almost uncontrollable, leading it to commonly
be mistaken for love. Due to the relative closeness of these emotions, both are often confused, and
even when one is in love he or she does not recognize it. Many think that love just comes knocking on
one s door and one will know when it does, but they don t realize that for love to occur a relationship
has must be worked out. Love is described by some as fireworks, tingles, and butterflies in the
stomach; but it is lust that can cause these things to happen, and it is these that mark only the
beginning of a relationship. After a while, these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At first, one might see the work as condemning people who have sex without being in love; but after
further review, one can see how Olds really portrays these people. She describes them as being
...Beautiful as dancers,/ gliding over each other like ice skaters (Olds 838); also they are considered
very religious, and in tune with their bodies much like great runners are. The characters in the poem
are depicted as athletes, agile and ready to compete, much like how the narrator, who talks so highly
of them, wants to be. However, once again, only the emotion of lust is present in this piece, and there
is no confusion between love and lust.
So many people fall victim to lust, believing that it is something more than what it is. In the poem
Junior Year Abroad, the lead character reveals lust for a man in her homeland, an emotion that quickly
fades away after meeting someone during her stay in Paris. The poem begins with an introduction to
her situation and reveals that he will come to Paris at Christmas to be with her. The shelf life of my
promise expired (Rebecca 839), is how she refers to her lover s upcoming visit, explaining how
quickly her lust for him has gone away. This poem gives specific examples of how lust can be there

Brief Commentary on the Movie Apollo 13
Paying close attention to the crew members, one would notice how they should be getting along. They
have to work together no matter what and be able to stay calm. If not, it could be a life or death
situation. There were parts in the movie where one of the members had got frustrated and started
arguing with another member. The third member had to calm them down. If they were not to calm
down, things could have got messed up and unwanted situations or hazards could have happened.
Observing the interactions between the engineers at the mission control center, one could see that they
are an important aspect of the journey. They have to react accordingly and calm when they get into a
tough situation. One could tell that they clearly get frustrated but when a crisis occurs during the
mission, they go on to try and solve the problem, even if it s frustrating at first. My opinion of Gene
Kranz is that he wants to get work down and he wants to get work done right away. He puts a lot of
pressure on his peers, but I think he is a great leader. He doesn t put pressure on them to be mean, but
he does it because he needs them to work fast and efficient. I personally would want to buy into his
ideas and solutions, because he did help resolve a lot of the problems that went on with the Apollo 13
mission. The issue they needed to solve that was similar to our project was when they had to come up
with a solution to fix the oxygen leakage. They had to use the materials they knew the men in

Sex And The Machine
Sex and the Machine Manipulating Lust for Liberty with Robot Prostitutes Prostitutes are on the
margin of society. Often forced into sex work or using the under the table cash to feed a drug
addiction, the prostitution industry is incredibly dangerous and exposes women, men, and minors to a
variety of STIs and threatening situations. Women especially are expected to conform to specific
stereotypes by dressing, acting, and looking a certain part in order to attract a specific clientele. Often
times this leads to maltreatment by not just their clients, but greater society in general. However, a
solution may be in progress: in the future, human acting robotic prostitutes may be able to replace
human prostitutes partially or entirely. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ethical issues of robot sex workers revolve around the future of a major faction of society: sex
slaves. Sex slaves are women (usually) who are kidnapped and then forced to work as prostitutes.
Optimists may assume robots would be the messiahs for these impoverished women, allowing them to
be replaced by automatons. But until the market especially in countries with active sex tourism
industries is flush with these robots, sex slavery will endure, keeping these oppressed people in
destitution. While it may seem like a civic duty to rescue these persecuted individuals, replacement by
machine is not an easy answer. How will these pleasure bots influence the concept of the physical
form, specifically for women who already have to shirk harsh societal expectations for physical
appearance? Might these robots encourage guilt less cheating on spouses? These are some of the many
complex facets to consider, leading to the question that faces us today: do we attempt to phase out
human prostitutes with robotic replacements? There are four primary stakeholders whose involvement
in should shape the focus of this debate: sex slaves/human prostitutes, the clients of these persons, the
manufacturers of the robots, and lawmakers at all levels of government. Sex slaves and prostitutes are
the center of the issue. Naturally, the chief

Co workers also noticed that
Arthurs was becoming increasingly forgetful. He was often unable to remember stock numbers, colour
codes, product lines, packaging modes, and other information essential for serving clients efficiently
and completing orders accurately. These problems were subtle in 1987, but became quite pronounced
and embarrassing over the next three years.
In May 1989, Arthurs and Jackson had a conflict relating to the purchase of a new company car.
According to Jackson, Arthurs presented him with a quotation for a car, which, in Jackson s view,
included $2,500 in unnecessary options. Jackson informed
Arthurs of his concerns and instructed him to find a car worth $13,000 instead of
$16,000. Jackson then left town on business and when he returned was distressed to find that Arthurs
had made his proposed car purchase with almost all of the unnecessary options. Jackson issued the
cheque to pay for the car, but also included a note to Arthurs saying that he had lost confidence in the
sales representative. It was about this time that
Jackson contemplated firing Arthurs, but decided instead to be a nice guy and overlook the matter.
At the end of 1989, Jackson decided to reassign the North Vancouver independent accounts from
Arthurs to another Western Agencies salesperson because the existing accounts had shown minimal
growth and no new accounts were being added.

when cats drink the toxin which has a sweet taste or when anti freeze is added to water sources or their

Synthesis Of Aspirin
In this experiment, two organic esters, aspirin or commonly known as acetylsalicylic acid and methyl
salicylate (oil of wintergreen) were synthesized through an esterification process and then the purity of
some of the molecules was determined through analytical techniques. During part one of this
experiment, aspirin was synthesized. Salicylic acid and acetic anhydride were mixed to produce
acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin). Typically, acetic acid is used but the reaction with acetic acid is slow and
does not go to completion. C7H6O3 (s) + CH3COOH(aq) ⇄ C9H8O4 (s) + H2O(aq)
Therefore, two acetic acids are combined to drive the reaction to completion. Since water is not
produced in this reaction, the reverse reaction does not occur and more aspirin is produced. However,
only 1.658 of the product was recovered due to error in retrieving all of the aspirin during the filtration
of the crystals. This yielded a percent yield of 46%, which is understandable since the product may
have not been completely produced thus yielding such a low percent yield. Also, the product may
contain a lot of impurities hindering how much product there really is. C7H6O3 (s) + C4H6O3 (aq)→
C9H8O4 (s) + H2O(aq)
Therefore, in part two, part of the sample was placed into one medium test tube and a sample of
salicylic acid was added to the other and a solution of 1% FeCl3 was added to each test tube to test for
purity. The main impurities in the sample are unreacted

Haemolytic Anemia Research Paper
In my opinion, based on signs and symptoms this patient suffers from hemolytic anemia, characterized
by reduction in the number of circulating red blood cells, caused by accelerated destruction and
removal of these cells from the bloodstream before their normal lifespan is over. When blood cells die,
bone marrow produces more blood cells to replace them, however, in HA, the bone marrow does not
make red blood cells fast enough to meet the body s needs. Many diseases, conditions, and factors can
cause the body to destroy its red blood cells. This type of anemia can be inherited, where parents
passed the gen to the child (hemoglobin defects, enzyme defects, membrane defects) or acquired,
meaning it developed overtime (infectious diseases: hepatitis, streptococcus; medications such as
acetaminophen, antibiotics, ibuprofen, interferon alfa procainamide). In some cases, the cause of
hemolytic anemia can t be established. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Clinical Indicators For Heart Failure
Clinical Indicators for Heart Failure Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States
and the estimated cost of treatment is $32 billion yearly. Approximately 5 million people living in the
United States suffer from congestive heart failure (CHF) and half of those diagnosed will die within 5
years. The quality and length of life for someone suffering from heart failure can be improved with
early diagnosis, medication, physical activity, and diet modification (CDC, 2013). Congestive heart
failure continues to account for more health care cost and readmissions than any other illness. The
increase in the prevalence of CHF is contributed to the percentage of elderly population. Adherence to
performance measures can increase patient outcomes (Mazimba, Grant, Parikh, Mwandia, Makola,
Chilomo, Redko, Hahn, 2012). Performance Measures Improving quality of health care for patients
being discharged from the hospital with heart failure requires performance measures. A number of
cardiac care programs have combined improvement interventions with clinical indicators to close the
gaps between routine patient care and evidence based care (Hickey, Scott, Denaro, Stewart, Bennett,
Theile, 2004). Process indicators are mainly aimed at improving clinical activities and assess what the
health care team did for the patient (Wollersheim, Hermens, Hulscher, Braspenning, Ouwens,

Key Messages Of The Foundation Phase Curriculum
Introduction This assignment will be exploring how the key messages of the Foundation Phase are
applied throughout all aspects of the curriculum. It will analyse childhood theorists sentiments about
the Foundation Phase, the notion of play in learning, both indoor and outdoor, and Personal Social
Development, Well Being and Cultural Diversity. The Foundation Phase is constructed to provide
consistency to each child s education during a crucial stage of their development. However, the
consistency does not affect the challenge of the curriculum: Children are given more opportunities to
enhance their knowledge through practical activities, open ended questions and problem solving. The
proposals made up by the Welsh Assembly Government [WAG] for the Foundation Phase included a
curriculum that reinforced and enhanced those put in practice by the Awdurdod Cymwysterau,
Cwricwlum ac Asesu Cymru s [ACCAC] document Desirable Outcomes for Children s Learning
Before Compulsory School Age (2000) . (DCELLS, 2008b) The Foundation Phase curriculum is a
legal requirement by means of an Order (DCELLS, 2008b). The curriculum, produced by the WAG,
was implemented progressively to allow schools to fuse and allow the children to settle with the
Foundation Phase. Dcells 2008b The Framework for Children s Learning for 3 to 7 year olds in Wales
[The Framework] identifies seven areas of learning which combine to create an appropriate
curriculum for the Foundation Phase to develop the skills

The Construction Of The Navy
The Bureau of ships verified all the calculations and found the design to be practical and water
worthy. The secretary of the Navy then sent the project to the US Navy s Bureau of Yards and Docks,
where its fabrication and assembly procedures and cost were analyzed on a basis of the floating city
being built in a shipyard, as are aircraft carriers and other vessels. The cost analysis of the Navy rental
just above the poverty class. At this point the city of Baltimore became interested in acquiring the first
such floating city for anchorage just offshore in Chesapeake Bay, adjacent to Baltimore s waterfront.
At this time President Lyndon Johnson s Democratic Party went out of power. President Johnson took
the model with him and installed it in his LBJ Texas library. The city of Baltimore s politicians went
out of favor with the Nixon administration, and the whole project languished. The city of Toronto,
Canada, and other cities of USA were interested in the possibility of acquiring such floating cities, but
none was made.
Fuller designed three types of floating cities: There was one for protected harbour waters, one for semi
protected waters, and one for unprotected deep sea installations. Submarine pontoons positioned under
the turbulence, with their centers of buoyancy 100 feet below the ocean s surface supported the deep
sea type floating cities. Structural columns would rise from the submarine pontoons outwardly
through the water to support the floating city high above

President Pierce And The Former President
Karolina and Anna approached the banquet table as fine ladies sat at the table and older men were
milling around the room puffing on their cigars and discussing politics.
Close to the table where Karolina and Anna sat down, several men were standing in a semicircle
around a short older bald headed man with only slight wisps of white hair. The older man was the
former president. Franz Sigil managed to include himself along with Anna s husband in the circle of
men surrounding the former president.
Mr. President, will you be continuing to support President Pierce in his negotiations for the Kansas
and Nebraska territories? A young man asked to the former president. Newly elected President Pierce

Van Buren looked at them and turned away. Gentlemen, we must return to our ladies , he declared and
walked away putting his cigar out. The orchestra began to play a new waltz just arrived from Europe
and he walked back into the center of the ballroom as all of the men followed the former president into
the ballroom and rejoined their ladies at the banquet table.
Young ladies and gentlemen began to dance and swirl around the center of the ball room while
Karolina and her friend were approached by two distinguished ladies. They made their introductions
and inquired about Karolina, for they recognized Anna and her husband. They observed Karolina s
simple hairstyle and lack of jewelry. Anna proudly explained to them she was a friend from the Grand
Duchy of Baden and described the wedding of Princess Marie both attended back in Mannheim. The
two women were suitably impressed as Anna described the members of royalty they had seen. After
they left, Anna squeezed Karolina s hand and mouthed the words Thank you to her as other women
slowly came up to both them.
Karolina turned her attention back to the orchestra playing in the room as Anna repeated her story to

Character Analysis Of Good Will Hunting
The movie Good Will Hunting an American Drama Film was directed by Gus Van Sant, and starring
Robin Williams, Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Minnie Driver and Stellan Skarsgard in 1997. This movie
is about a man named Good Will Hunting who was a genius but chose not to live as a genius because
of fear of past experiences and the ill treatment he received when he was in foster home. Some of the
other characters in the movie were supportive and some were not supportive of him. This essay
discusses Good Will s personality traits and his interaction with the other characters in the movie.
Good Will Hunting possessed the following personality traits, namely: independence, intense interest
in a problem, and the need for stimulation. Good Will Hunting was independent because he chose to
live his own way and not conforming himself to society s pressure. Good Will Hunting proved his
independence by self imposed limitation, meaning limiting his ability to enjoy complete freedom.
Throughout the movie, he rejected his natural talents or gifts and initially chose to stay in South
Boston with his friends. Like in the case with his girlfriend, Good Will Hunting refused to get close to
people with the fear of being rejected at the end. Moreover, he refused to get higher paying jobs as
was in the case of Sean Maguire, the psychology professor, who later became his counselor. It was
during these counselling sessions with Good Will Hunting that we learned, Sean Maguire, was also
talented in advanced mathematics, but rejected the opportunity to teach at Harvard and chose to teach
at a local community college instead. Similarly, Good Will Hunting chose to remain a janitor or a
construction worker where he was more comfortable. Not just did he poses the trait of independency,
he also had the character of intensity of interest in a problem. As per his intensity of interest in a
problem, Good Will Hunting would obsess about a problem that was presented to him until he had
discovered a solution. Some examples of this in the movie were the initial math problems on the
chalkboard where he could not stop working on them until he had a solution. Another is when he
completed the complex homework problem for his girlfriend Skylar

Analysis of the Little Mermaid Essay
The Little Mermaid Analysis
The Little Mermaid is an example of how woman were seen in society. In the fairy tale, women are
characterized by appearance rather than personality by both men and women. The little mermaid
mentions But if you take my voice, what shall I have left? (Anderson 226). In this quote, the little
mermaid believes that she cannot just be herself to win the prince s heart. The prince also looks at
women the same way because of how he talks to the little mermaid. He asks her, You ve no fear of the
sea, have you, my dumb child? (Anderson 229). He treats her as if she is still a small child just
because she cannot speak. The tone helps shape the whole story into a feminist piece. Anderson relays
the moral of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the little mermaid went to the sea witch to be changed into a human, she told her, How stupid of
you! Still, you shall have your way, and it ll bring you into misfortune, my lovely Princess (Anderson
226). The sea witch had already warned the little mermaid even before she made the potion that it
would not go as she planned. The little mermaid, being young and foolish about love, did what she
believed was right. The tone here spoken by the sea witch gives caution towards the mermaid.
Anderson uses the witch as a way to portray to the reader how it is easy to make mistakes in the matter
of love. This example is given when the witch informs her that, ... and if you don t win the Prince s
love, so that he forgets father and mother for you and always has you in his thoughts and lets the priest
join your hands together to be man and wife, they you won t get an immortal soul (Anderson 226).
The author uses a reproving tone to demonstrate to the reader how the little mermaid is foolish, carried
away in her childish dreams. Anderson characterizes the sea witch in such a way that her dialogues
warn women to be careful when it comes to sacrificing themselves for anyone. The imagery used to
describe how lovely the mermaid is portrays what the prince wanted as a wife. When the prince found
her on the shore and took her in as one of his own people, he took care of and adored her, but he
would not marry her because she could not

Marines Of Bravo Company Essay
The Marines of Bravo Company When a pair of Cobra helicopter gunships thumped overhead, flying

Get some! This quote was taken from the article, The Killer Elite, written by Evan Wright. The article
follows Sergeant Brad Colbert and Bravo Company, First Reconnaissance Battalion as they begin their
invasion of Iraq. Being a Marine combat veteran myself, I can relate to the Marines of Bravo
Company. Sergeant Colbert and his team were the prime example of camaraderie, a bond which
helped them endure the action and adversity of a combat deployment because war by its very nature
can be exciting, scary, and challenging. Foremost, when Sergeant Colbert and the Marines of Bravo
Company received the news from headquarters that their unit would be included on the frontlines for
the invasion of Iraq they were ecstatic. Wright writes, Nearly every Marine I ve met is hoping this war
with Iraq will be his chance to get some. According to Wright every Marine is waiting for their
opportunity to have the adventure that they signed up for. That is exactly how I felt when I joined the

The Pros And Cons Of Pope Gregory IV
Around the last half of the 11th century, Pope Gregory VII not only enacted moral alterations within
the Church that had continuous effects, but the Pope also clashed with a political leader Henry IV. This
indicates that these changes are defined as a revolution because a revolution is a sudden and vast
change that has lasting effects. Although most of the prominent modifications enacted by Pope
Gregory VII altered the ethical lives of Church leaders still remain important today, the doctrines
established by the Pope and the emerging power of the papacy radically transformed the political
relationship of the Catholic Church and the secular rulers from one of intertwined and unclear powers
to an ultimate separation of church and state.

considered a war that has a good cause. This is an example of a just war because Christians are called
to protect and free their religious brothers. Pope Urban II even says, All who died ... shall have a
immediate remission of sins. This I grant them through the power of God which I am invested (PDF

for their religion. This is some years after Gregory VII yet his elevation of Papal powers caused a
Pope to be able to call people to just war similar to how a secular ruler is able to have an army. The

Impact Of The Job Design On Retail Banking
Introduction As a financial service provider, the banking industry employs an abundance of
standardized processes. In order to deliver a professional, accurate and fast service to customers, as
well as to maintain the motivation and performance of banking staff, it is critical to design a smooth
and friendly process for various types of service requests, or in other words, to allocate the tasks to
appropriate positions. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the impacts on performance resulting
from the job design in retail banking so as to demonstrate the ability of the author to apply the
operations management concept into real life. When companies plan to reengineer or redesign the job,
they could use the Job Characteristic Model (JCM), which was developed by Richard Hackman and
Greg Oldham. The basic idea of the model is that task itself can drive the motivation and performance
of employees (Saavedra Kwun, 2000, p. 132). There are five core job characteristics, including skill
variety, task identity, task significance, autonomy and feedback, which influence psychological states
of meaningfulness of job, responsibility for outcomes and knowledge of the actual results (Slack,
Brandon Jones Johnston, 2013, p. 264). Eventually, the above mentioned psychological states will
result in four aspects of personal outcomes, including motivation, quality performance, satisfaction as
well as absenteeism and turnover (Slack et al., 2013, p. 264). However, the theory does not

Food Processing And Its Effects On Population Health
The term food processing is often improperly defined. Although a lack of food processing regulations
today may pose health concerns for the modern consumer due to its association with chemical
additives and unnatural transformations, food processing in its most basic form can be defined quite
simply as any procedure undergone by food commodities after they have left the primary producer,
and before they reach the consumer (Welch, 2000). Therefore, food processing in and of itself is an
extremely broad industry ranging in functions that, over the course of history, has had both beneficial
and harmful effects on population health.
Food processing has a long history dating all the way back to the earliest civilizations of humanity.
From the ancient Mesopotamians, Egyptians, and Romans to the Aztecs and Incas, early civilizations
from around the world recorded knowledge of how to preserve food with the limited materials
available. Innovators they most certainly were, the ancient civilizations managed to preserve foods by
adding salt, sun drying foods, and roasting over fire. While this may not be what initially comes to
mind when we think of food processing in a modern context today, ancient civilizations did in fact
alter the natural structure of foods thus initiating the food processing industry with techniques that,
unknowingly at the time, utilized quite a lot of science. Although these contributions to the history of
food processing were a significant

Implementing A Country s Legal System Essay
1. A constitution explains the principles that form the framework of a country s legal system. It
establishes the major institutions of the government, mentions their fundamental controls, and makes
general rules about how those controls can be exercised. New Zealand s constitution is found in
several important documents (such as the Treaty of Waitangi) rather than in a single document. The
New Zealand (NZ) constitution is the foundation from which other laws are developed. It addresses all
the regulations and rights of NZ citizens that include: your right to vote, responsibilities of parents to
their children and so forth. Comparative to the NZ constitution, the United States (US) constitution is
more structured in the sense that it is found in a four page document. It incorporates the principles
outlined in the Declaration of Independence and it indicates how the various government departments
are expected to operate. These departments are divided into three branches: Legislative Congress and
Senate (establish legislation), Executive President (sign treaties) and Judicial Supreme Court (take
appeals from courts and States, interpret the law). These characteristics of the U.S. constitution are
also a point of differentiation between the two constitutions. Therefore, the main difference between
the two constitutions is that the NZ constitution is not found in a single document whereas the U.S.
constitution is compiled in a four page document. 2. A unitary

Freedom Issues For The Native American Freedom
The idea most central to all Americans is our right to freedom. These freedoms are things that are
listed in Declaration of Independence and our nation s Constitution. Numerous President have used
the idea of freedom to gather support for war such as the Civil War, World War II, and the Cold War.
In America freedom has been sought after and fought for by different groups, even though it is the
basis for what America stands for numerous groups have been deprived. These groups of African
American, women, Native Americans, and other minorities have fought to include themselves in the
freedom that was guaranteed to them. Native Americans have suffered for a long period of time by the
people who settled their land, starting in colonial times. The American government has wronged them
in numerous ways and the Native Americans have had to fight for the freedoms and equalities they
have. Freedom issues for the Native American are cultural and religious freedoms. The denial of
freedoms affect their ability to worship ceremonially and traditionally. They include lack of access to
their religious sites, sacred objects, and termination of aid (pluralism.org). In the 1960s the Indian
Termination policy, would force them to be incorporated into America, as well as end their
independence. They stopped development projects and cut off federal service. In 1975 The Indian Self

The aim of this quantitative correlational study is to understand the differences between how minority
and non minority small business owners approach succession planning. This study will use a ex post
facto design. An A priori power analysis test using the G*Power 3.1.9.2 software program will be used
to establish a minimum overall sample size of 134. Specifically, a Wilcoxon Mann Whitney (two
groups) statistical two tailed t test calculation with an effect size d of .5, an alpha level of .05, and beta
level of .80 will be used to determine a sample size group of 67 participants. The subjects for the
current study will consist of U.S. small business owners selected using multiple sampling frames.
Although multiple sampling frames hamper generalization to the population, it allows for convenience
and is suitable for difficult and rare populations (). Subjects in the study must fit the definition of
small business owner, one who establishes an independently owned and operated business for profit in
the United States and has less than 500 employees.
The current study has two types of variables: the independent and dependent variables. The dependent
variables are succession preparedness, enterprise characteristics, and proportion of businesses with
formal succession plans and the independent variable, small business owners approach to succession
planning. The independent and dependent variables will be measured using an electronic questionnaire

  • 2. My Papas Waltz And My Father s Song Every one of us has a childhood, some of us may experience a memorable one, while some of us want to erase it from our memory. Everyone also has their own personal feelings towards a father s figure due to their personal experiences they have as a child. The poems My Father s Song, by Simon J. Ortiz, and My Papa s Waltz, by Theodore Roethke, are two similar poems written about a father and child relationship. My Papa s Waltz creates a debate whether the father son relationship is sweet loving memory or a confession of childhood abuse. The two poems are spoken from the child s point of view during a memorable event in their childhood. The poems My Father s Song and My Papa s Waltz both share a theme of admiration each kid has looking upon their father and a warm memory. The writers use a variety of poetic devices such as tone, word choice, imagery, and figurative language. Firstly, In My Father s Song, the tone is nostalgia, it s a perfect demonstration of emotion the speaker feels about his father. My Papa s Waltz, poem s tone is playful and light created by the pleasant rhythm iambic, which makes the poem short and sweet. The tone is promoted through word choice, Both writers use similar word choice to strengthen the theme of admiration. In the poem, My Papa s Waltz, gives us a both and negative feeling, he uses words such as Still clinging to your shirt this shows that he hangs onto his father s shirt, not wanting to let go after his father waltzing him off to bed. His descriptions of the dance give us a fun, playful feeling. Despite the fact the waltz is tough, he still loves his dad. In My Father s song, the speaker remembers his father s voice. The speaker describes his experience as His voice, the slight catch, the depth from his this thin crest, the tremble of emotion in something he has just said to his son, his song (Ortiz 3 7). The speaker remembers every detail about his father. The child misses his father and cared profoundly about him, especially more tonight Wanting to say things, I miss my father tonight (1 2) Thirdly, Both writers use a lot of imagery in their poems, they use a big amount of imagination to tell their experiences. Each poem is developed out of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If all the characters didn t think that class was important, Eva would be alive. The older characters, Mr and Mrs Birling who mainly care about class. This is because they are very old fashioned and traditional. Mr Birling keen to be knighted to show his hard fought rise to the upper class. • 4. Antz Civics The movie Antz relates to the ideas we have studied in Civics in many ways. The idea in the movie that different ants have different thoughts on how the country should be run, the idea of what a good ant citizen should be like and the idea that all ants have their own physical and psychological needs and wants are all similar topics we have discussed in Civics concerning the world we live in today. The first character I will discuss is Z. Z believed that he should get a choice in how he contributes to colony, and a say in what goes on in the colony. Z wanted a place where he could express himself. These ideas are what lead Z in search of place with more freedom, Insectopia. Evidently, Z believes in democracy. This government would have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They do what they are told, openly support the ways of the colony and are hesitant to disobey the rules. An example of this is when Z was sharing his unhappiness of the way the colony is run to Azteca. Regardless of what her friend was saying, Azteca stayed true to her colony and verbalized her support for the government system. A colony needs loyal ants like this. Another example is when Z asks to switch places with weaver and become a soldier for a day. Although Z is a good friend, weaver is reluctant to say yes as this is against the rules. Members that follow these rules are vital to the success of a colony. In these ways, Azteca and Weaver act in the interest of the colony. Characters that acted in their own interests are Z and General Mandible. They make choices based on their own beliefs and what makes them happy, regardless of the impacts it has on the colony. An example of this is when Z and Princess Bala fall out of the colony and on to outside land. The princess demands that she is escorted back as the princess is very important to a colony. Despite this and the needs of the colony, Z marches towards Insectopia, prioritizing his desire for freedom over the survival of the colony. Another example is when General Mandible attempted to mass murder thousands of ants because he felt they were too weak. This kind of behavior is selfish and only supports the interests of him gaining more power. As ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. The Nature Of Happiness By Daniel Gilbert You may have guessed Stumbling on Happiness by Daniel Gilbert is all about what makes people happy, how to make people happy, and why people feel happy in certain situations. This assumption is correct, but Gilbert digs much deeper than these three simple questions. He discusses the nature of happiness and explains the many, many psychological illusions that alter our perception of happiness. Gilbert focuses on why happiness is so difficult to measure and why many people have bias views regarding happiness. After reading this book, I feel as if I have a more insightful view about the human mind and how it works. Personally, I think the following quote by Gilbert sums up his book: Our desire to control is so powerful, and the feeling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Humans can imagine the future and make plans for later, whereas animals can only make predictions about the immediate future. We often look forward in time to reduce the impact of unpleasant situations and to try to control and change our future. Gilbert goes on to describe what happiness is. He says happiness is a subjective feeling , meaning it is impossible to compare two different individuals level of happiness at a given time. When humans try to compare happiness they often compare their happiness in the present with something they experienced in the past. Gilbert explains that even when our minds compare two different things in the present we still tend to fail to notice differences. Everyone has a blind spot of visual perception that we fill in with what we think should be there. Gilbert compares this to our memory. Humans only store facts and feelings in our memory that we believe are important, so when we look back at a certain memory we simply fill in the missing details. In one of the studies Gilbert discusses, he describes how this filling in process happens when we imagine the future as well. Our brains fill in details about future experiences, and we are unaware this process is happening. We don t notice the important details we may be leaving out. Humans see things that are closer to them with more complexity than those things that are far ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Essay On Beauty Of The Yard Mesmerizing beauty of the yard: Gazing out of my bedroom window one night, I witnessed a breathtaking view of the yard. As if you are transferred into a fairy tale. The sky seemed like a piece of beautiful painting. The whole ambiance of the space was captivating. The fluffy clouds were dancing around the moon making the light falling on the ground to glimmer dramatically. By the passing time the cloud shift shapes into something new and exciting each time. The stone pathway led one to the exquisite marble fountain. The soft moonlight hitting the marble make it shine as white as pearls. The moonlight made everything, the flowers the tree leaves and bushes all glittered like jewels. A light breeze was making the branches dance to their own rhythm. The cool wind carrying the smell of the flowers was a reminder of a spring day. The chirping of night life added more life to the whole scenario. Love and Lust in Play By Play, Sex without Love, and Junior Year Abroad Lust is an incredibly strong feeling that can prove to be almost uncontrollable, leading it to commonly be mistaken for love. Due to the relative closeness of these emotions, both are often confused, and even when one is in love he or she does not recognize it. Many think that love just comes knocking on one s door and one will know when it does, but they don t realize that for love to occur a relationship has must be worked out. She describes them as being ...Beautiful as dancers,/ gliding over each other like ice skaters (Olds 838); also they are considered very religious, and in tune with their bodies much like great runners are. The characters in the poem are depicted as athletes, agile and ready to compete, much like how the narrator, who talks so highly of them, wants to be. However, once again, only the emotion of lust is present in this piece, and there is no confusion between love and lust. So many people fall victim to lust, believing that it is something more than what it is. In the poem Junior Year Abroad, the lead character reveals lust for a man in her homeland, an emotion that quickly fades away after meeting someone during her stay in Paris. The poem begins with an introduction to her situation and reveals that he will come to Paris at Christmas to be with her. The shelf life of my promise expired (Rebecca 839), is how she refers to her lover s upcoming visit, explaining how quickly her lust for him has gone away. • 13. Brief Commentary on the Movie Apollo 13 Paying close attention to the crew members, one would notice how they should be getting along. They have to work together no matter what and be able to stay calm. If not, it could be a life or death situation. There were parts in the movie where one of the members had got frustrated and started arguing with another member. The third member had to calm them down. If they were not to calm down, things could have got messed up and unwanted situations or hazards could have happened. Observing the interactions between the engineers at the mission control center, one could see that they are an important aspect of the journey. They have to react accordingly and calm when they get into a tough situation. One could tell that they clearly get frustrated but when a crisis occurs during the mission, they go on to try and solve the problem, even if it s frustrating at first. My opinion of Gene Kranz is that he wants to get work down and he wants to get work done right away. He puts a lot of pressure on his peers, but I think he is a great leader. He doesn t put pressure on them to be mean, but he does it because he needs them to work fast and efficient. I personally would want to buy into his ideas and solutions, because he did help resolve a lot of the problems that went on with the Apollo 13 mission. The issue they needed to solve that was similar to our project was when they had to come up with a solution to fix the oxygen leakage. They had to use the materials they knew the men in ... Often forced into sex work or using the under the table cash to feed a drug addiction, the prostitution industry is incredibly dangerous and exposes women, men, and minors to a variety of STIs and threatening situations. Women especially are expected to conform to specific stereotypes by dressing, acting, and looking a certain part in order to attract a specific clientele. The ethical issues of robot sex workers revolve around the future of a major faction of society: sex slaves. Sex slaves are women (usually) who are kidnapped and then forced to work as prostitutes. Optimists may assume robots would be the messiahs for these impoverished women, allowing them to be replaced by automatons. But until the market especially in countries with active sex tourism industries is flush with these robots, sex slavery will endure, keeping these oppressed people in destitution. While it may seem like a civic duty to rescue these persecuted individuals, replacement by machine is not an easy answer. How will these pleasure bots influence the concept of the physical form, specifically for women who already have to shirk harsh societal expectations for physical appearance? Might these robots encourage guilt less cheating on spouses? These are some of the many complex facets to consider, leading to the question that faces us today: do we attempt to phase out human prostitutes with robotic replacements? • 19. Synthesis Of Aspirin In this experiment, two organic esters, aspirin or commonly known as acetylsalicylic acid and methyl salicylate (oil of wintergreen) were synthesized through an esterification process and then the purity of some of the molecules was determined through analytical techniques. During part one of this experiment, aspirin was synthesized. Salicylic acid and acetic anhydride were mixed to produce acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin). Typically, acetic acid is used but the reaction with acetic acid is slow and does not go to completion. C7H6O3 (s) + CH3COOH(aq) ⇄ C9H8O4 (s) + H2O(aq) Therefore, two acetic acids are combined to drive the reaction to completion. Since water is not produced in this reaction, the reverse reaction does not occur and more aspirin is produced. However, only 1.658 of the product was recovered due to error in retrieving all of the aspirin during the filtration of the crystals. This yielded a percent yield of 46%, which is understandable since the product may have not been completely produced thus yielding such a low percent yield. Also, the product may contain a lot of impurities hindering how much product there really is. C7H6O3 (s) + C4H6O3 (aq)→ C9H8O4 (s) + H2O(aq) Therefore, in part two, part of the sample was placed into one medium test tube and a sample of salicylic acid was added to the other and a solution of 1% FeCl3 was added to each test tube to test for purity. Haemolytic Anemia Research Paper In my opinion, based on signs and symptoms this patient suffers from hemolytic anemia, characterized by reduction in the number of circulating red blood cells, caused by accelerated destruction and removal of these cells from the bloodstream before their normal lifespan is over. Many diseases, conditions, and factors can cause the body to destroy its red blood cells. This type of anemia can be inherited, where parents passed the gen to the child (hemoglobin defects, enzyme defects, membrane defects) or acquired, meaning it developed overtime (infectious diseases: hepatitis, streptococcus; medications such as acetaminophen, antibiotics, ibuprofen, interferon alfa procainamide). • 21. Clinical Indicators For Heart Failure Clinical Indicators for Heart Failure Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States and the estimated cost of treatment is $32 billion yearly. Approximately 5 million people living in the United States suffer from congestive heart failure (CHF) and half of those diagnosed will die within 5 years. The quality and length of life for someone suffering from heart failure can be improved with early diagnosis, medication, physical activity, and diet modification (CDC, 2013). Congestive heart failure continues to account for more health care cost and readmissions than any other illness. The increase in the prevalence of CHF is contributed to the percentage of elderly population. Adherence to performance measures can increase patient outcomes (Mazimba, Grant, Parikh, Mwandia, Makola, Chilomo, Redko, Hahn, 2012). Performance Measures Improving quality of health care for patients being discharged from the hospital with heart failure requires performance measures. A number of cardiac care programs have combined improvement interventions with clinical indicators to close the gaps between routine patient care and evidence based care (Hickey, Scott, Denaro, Stewart, Bennett, Theile, 2004). Process indicators are mainly aimed at improving clinical activities and assess what the health care team did for the patient (Wollersheim, Hermens, Hulscher, Braspenning, Ouwens, Schouten, Marres, Dijkstra, Grol, 2007). • 22. Key Messages Of The Foundation Phase Curriculum Introduction This assignment will be exploring how the key messages of the Foundation Phase are applied throughout all aspects of the curriculum. It will analyse childhood theorists sentiments about the Foundation Phase, the notion of play in learning, both indoor and outdoor, and Personal Social Development, Well Being and Cultural Diversity. The Foundation Phase is constructed to provide consistency to each child s education during a crucial stage of their development. However, the consistency does not affect the challenge of the curriculum: Children are given more opportunities to enhance their knowledge through practical activities, open ended questions and problem solving. The proposals made up by the Welsh Assembly Government [WAG] for the Foundation Phase included a curriculum that reinforced and enhanced those put in practice by the Awdurdod Cymwysterau, Cwricwlum ac Asesu Cymru s [ACCAC] document Desirable Outcomes for Children s Learning Before Compulsory School Age (2000) . (DCELLS, 2008b) The Foundation Phase curriculum is a legal requirement by means of an Order (DCELLS, 2008b). The curriculum, produced by the WAG, was implemented progressively to allow schools to fuse and allow the children to settle with the Foundation Phase. Character Analysis Of Good Will Hunting The movie Good Will Hunting an American Drama Film was directed by Gus Van Sant, and starring Robin Williams, Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Minnie Driver and Stellan Skarsgard in 1997. This movie is about a man named Good Will Hunting who was a genius but chose not to live as a genius because of fear of past experiences and the ill treatment he received when he was in foster home. Some of the other characters in the movie were supportive and some were not supportive of him. This essay discusses Good Will s personality traits and his interaction with the other characters in the movie. Good Will Hunting possessed the following personality traits, namely: independence, intense interest in a problem, and the need for stimulation. Good Will Hunting was independent because he chose to live his own way and not conforming himself to society s pressure. Good Will Hunting proved his independence by self imposed limitation, meaning limiting his ability to enjoy complete freedom. Throughout the movie, he rejected his natural talents or gifts and initially chose to stay in South Boston with his friends. Like in the case with his girlfriend, Good Will Hunting refused to get close to people with the fear of being rejected at the end. Moreover, he refused to get higher paying jobs as was in the case of Sean Maguire, the psychology professor, who later became his counselor. It was during these counselling sessions with Good Will Hunting that we learned, Sean Maguire, was also talented in advanced mathematics, but rejected the opportunity to teach at Harvard and chose to teach at a local community college instead. Similarly, Good Will Hunting chose to remain a janitor or a construction worker where he was more comfortable. The little mermaid, being young and foolish about love, did what she believed was right. The tone here spoken by the sea witch gives caution towards the mermaid. • 32. The Pros And Cons Of Pope Gregory IV Around the last half of the 11th century, Pope Gregory VII not only enacted moral alterations within the Church that had continuous effects, but the Pope also clashed with a political leader Henry IV. This indicates that these changes are defined as a revolution because a revolution is a sudden and vast change that has lasting effects. Although most of the prominent modifications enacted by Pope Gregory VII altered the ethical lives of Church leaders still remain important today, the doctrines established by the Pope and the emerging power of the papacy radically transformed the political relationship of the Catholic Church and the secular rulers from one of intertwined and unclear powers to an ultimate separation of church and state. In the Call to Crusade, it states that Christ s example calls for them to demand that we should lay down our lives to liberate them (PDF 159). This means that the crusade was to help their fellow religious brothers therefor the Crusades were considered a just war for religion. A just war is considered a war that has a good cause. This is an example of a just war because Christians are called to protect and free their religious brothers. Pope Urban II even says, All who died ... shall have a immediate remission of sins. This I grant them through the power of God which I am invested (PDF 161). The Pope is establishing his influence over his people to the extent that they are willing to die for their religion. This is some years after Gregory VII yet his elevation of Papal powers caused a Pope to be able to call people to just war similar to how a secular ruler is able to have an army. • 33. Impact Of The Job Design On Retail Banking Introduction As a financial service provider, the banking industry employs an abundance of standardized processes. In order to deliver a professional, accurate and fast service to customers, as well as to maintain the motivation and performance of banking staff, it is critical to design a smooth and friendly process for various types of service requests, or in other words, to allocate the tasks to appropriate positions. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the impacts on performance resulting from the job design in retail banking so as to demonstrate the ability of the author to apply the operations management concept into real life. When companies plan to reengineer or redesign the job, they could use the Job Characteristic Model (JCM), which was developed by Richard Hackman and Greg Oldham. The basic idea of the model is that task itself can drive the motivation and performance of employees (Saavedra Kwun, 2000, p. 132). There are five core job characteristics, including skill variety, task identity, task significance, autonomy and feedback, which influence psychological states of meaningfulness of job, responsibility for outcomes and knowledge of the actual results (Slack, Brandon Jones Johnston, 2013, p. 264). Eventually, the above mentioned psychological states will result in four aspects of personal outcomes, including motivation, quality performance, satisfaction as well as absenteeism and turnover (Slack et al., 2013, p. 264). However, the theory does not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Food Processing And Its Effects On Population Health The term food processing is often improperly defined. Although a lack of food processing regulations today may pose health concerns for the modern consumer due to its association with chemical additives and unnatural transformations, food processing in its most basic form can be defined quite simply as any procedure undergone by food commodities after they have left the primary producer, and before they reach the consumer (Welch, 2000). Therefore, food processing in and of itself is an extremely broad industry ranging in functions that, over the course of history, has had both beneficial and harmful effects on population health. Food processing has a long history dating all the way back to the earliest civilizations of humanity. From the ancient Mesopotamians, Egyptians, and Romans to the Aztecs and Incas, early civilizations from around the world recorded knowledge of how to preserve food with the limited materials available. Innovators they most certainly were, the ancient civilizations managed to preserve foods by adding salt, sun drying foods, and roasting over fire. While this may not be what initially comes to mind when we think of food processing in a modern context today, ancient civilizations did in fact alter the natural structure of foods thus initiating the food processing industry with techniques that, unknowingly at the time, utilized quite a lot of science. Although these contributions to the history of food processing were a significant ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Implementing A Country s Legal System Essay 1. A constitution explains the principles that form the framework of a country s legal system. It establishes the major institutions of the government, mentions their fundamental controls, and makes general rules about how those controls can be exercised. New Zealand s constitution is found in several important documents (such as the Treaty of Waitangi) rather than in a single document. The New Zealand (NZ) constitution is the foundation from which other laws are developed. It addresses all the regulations and rights of NZ citizens that include: your right to vote, responsibilities of parents to their children and so forth. Comparative to the NZ constitution, the United States (US) constitution is more structured in the sense that it is found in a four page document. It incorporates the principles outlined in the Declaration of Independence and it indicates how the various government departments are expected to operate. These departments are divided into three branches: Legislative Congress and Senate (establish legislation), Executive President (sign treaties) and Judicial Supreme Court (take appeals from courts and States, interpret the law). These characteristics of the U.S. constitution are also a point of differentiation between the two constitutions. Therefore, the main difference between the two constitutions is that the NZ constitution is not found in a single document whereas the U.S. constitution is compiled in a four page document. 2. A unitary ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 37. Differences Between Minority And Non Minority Small... The aim of this quantitative correlational study is to understand the differences between how minority and non minority small business owners approach succession planning. This study will use a ex post facto design. An A priori power analysis test using the G*Power 3.1.9.2 software program will be used to establish a minimum overall sample size of 134. Specifically, a Wilcoxon Mann Whitney (two groups) statistical two tailed t test calculation with an effect size d of .5, an alpha level of .05, and beta level of .80 will be used to determine a sample size group of 67 participants. The subjects for the current study will consist of U.S. small business owners selected using multiple sampling frames. Although multiple sampling frames hamper generalization to the population, it allows for convenience and is suitable for difficult and rare populations (). Subjects in the study must fit the definition of small business owner, one who establishes an independently owned and operated business for profit in the United States and has less than 500 employees. The current study has two types of variables: the independent and dependent variables. The dependent variables are succession preparedness, enterprise characteristics, and proportion of businesses with formal succession plans and the independent variable, small business owners approach to succession planning. The independent and dependent variables will be measured using an electronic questionnaire composed of items from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
