How is it we know when to laugh, cry or shout? Or when it would be rude or inappropriate to do so?
Why is it we value integrity, honesty, respect...or not? And where do our religious or spiritual beliefs
and practices come from?
This essay looks at theories of social construction and their part in the development of cultural and
societal realities. We look at constructivism as a means of learning social norms, values, beliefs etc
using examples from the production Tapu (Smith and Haami, 2000). In particular we ll address the
theories of emotional construction and rule governing.
So what is social construction?
Social construction is the idea that our understanding of reality derives from interaction with others. It
refers to the way we create meaning and understanding to build collectively held beliefs. These beliefs

are called social constructions or constructs .
In the 1967 book, The Social Construction of Reality, Berger and Luckmann argue that all knowledge,

For my final art project, I created my own version of the popular meme known as Pepe. Collecting
rare Pepes was a famous trend that took the internet by storm. Though the trend has died down now, I
wanted to make my own version to call my own. Since it would be the only one ever created, it would

Wealthy families are able to keep their privilege social position for the members of that family,
whereas poorer families are denied this status. This perspective is also more beneficial for men than
women. It allows men to maintain their power position. Inequality between the sexes is a result of this

more important than the roles of the women even if the women are more hard working than their male

I read The Monkey Wrench Gang by Edward Abbey. The book is 421 pages, and was published by
Lippincott Williams amp;Wilkins in 1975. It is a fictional story about a group of four people who
meet, and all want the same thing. To stop development on America s southwest.
Edward Abbey s purpose in writing this book was to raise awareness about what is happening to, quite
literally, our back yard. This book takes place in the southern Utah and Arizona, and is told in 3rd
person, but not following any one specific character. It switches which character you are following
throughout the story. The main characters are George Hayduke, Bonnie Abbzug, Doc Sarvis, and
Seldom Seen Smith.

the end of the book, Forest rangers arrest a sleepy Seldom Seen Smith because he stole some camper s
hamburger, and they thought he was Rudolf the Red. Next chapter, Hayduke was on a 500 foot cliff,
over a huge flood happening in the river below, and Love, as well as a bunch of police had him pinned
down. Hayduke hid out in a crevice for over 6 hours while Love and his men waited for him to

with a rifle and they all open fire. What they believe to be Rudolf is literally pushed of the edge with
the bullets and never found. In the last chapter, the rest of the gang is playing a poker game when Doc
Sarvis gets an unexpected visit from Hayduke, who somehow survived, and wants to finish their initial
job, destroying Glen Canyon dam.
I believe that Abbey did achieve his purpose with this writing. The book has so much emotion, and
detail about the beauty of this place that it s hard to think that he didn t. The book was very interesting,
as well as powerful. It was a difficult read at times, but it kept me interested and wanting to read. A
weakness of this book is that back grounds to some of the events were not explained fully. Some
strengths are that it s a very interesting and moving reading and

The ocean which covers more than half the surface of our planet is a vital source to life on Earth. It
carries ninety seven percent of Earth s water and surrounds three quarters of the planet. Millions of
different fish and mammals live within the ocean. Today, however, the ocean and all life there is
experiencing serious environmental problems. It has been stated, A staggering amount of waste much

Watson takes care of and tries to keep Sherlock out of trouble, but is almost always ready to go on a
case and join in on the troublesome game. He balances Sherlock s sociopath tendencies but brings his
own wonder to the show. Watson makes sure he is heard and is the voice of reason.
Additionally, Andrew Scott as Moriarty is perfect. He has the psychopathic behavior and is very
conniving and mysterious. Scott makes him unnerving because you know he is a master criminal and
will not hesitate to kill people. Yet he still keeps the character relatable. Scott makes Moriarty a
serious psychotic man but brings slight comedy to the part by not being serious.
The show is better than the movie because the character portrayals are much better because they are
more relatable and overall intriguing. The development of the characters is detailed but leaves enough
out to keep it clouded with mystery. On top of a better portrayal of characters, the show has a better
level of complexity.
In the movie, the Moriarty case was complex and difficult to follow. The case was difficult because
Sherlock is going against someone on his intelligence level, so the audience struggles to keep up.
Also, having a backstory with the gypsy that helped throughout the movie added to the plot but was
more of a distraction. The ending was not that complex though. The impending murder kept you
guessing, but not the death of Moriarty.

The Importance Of My Experience At A College Band Camp
Have you ever spent a week at a college band camp? Unfortunately, it does not resemble the iconic
scene from the classic film, American Pie. This narrative depicts why I decided to attend Southwestern
rather than other colleges such as Oklahoma State University, University of Oklahoma, and Wichita
State University. My fellow band friends and I took a three hour journey to Weatherford from
Blackwell to attend the Southwestern Band Camp for four days. As soon as we reached our
destination, I realized that this was where I wanted to be. When I stepped out of the cramped car, a
cool breeze blew across my face. On this ninety four degree mid summer day, band kids were walking
aimlessly trying to find the correct building to go to. As for myself, I knew exactly where to go. Check
in was at 1PM in the Oklahoma Hall and luckily for us, I had scoped out the campus on Google maps

Summary I had such an unhealthy diet before but my diet has changed since I made a few plans for
the Journal #1. And I was pretty good to keep it until when I just finished the Journal #2. Most of them
