Anti Semitism In The Holocaust
Before the Holocaust and the killing of millions of Jews, many events took place solidifying the hatred
towards Jews in Germany. People in Germany did not hate Jews overnight, a long history of universal
hate towards Jews took place first. Throughout history the Jewish people have been victims of anti
semitism because they do not fully assimilate, causing them to be outsiders. This historical backing of
anti semitism with the combination of a poor economy, strong German identity and humiliation,
causes Germany to have strong anti semitic sentiments during the 1920s and 1930s. Anti semitism
started in seventy c.e. when the Romans destroyed the temple in jerusalem because the Jews refused to
worship their gods (Bergen). The destruction of the temple was one of the first times in history people
took action against the Jews and tried to harm them. The Jewish people were viewed as the others
because of their religion and were punished for it. The romans did not stop at destroying the temple,
the Jewish people were blamed for the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, even when crucifixion was a roman
form of execution (Bergen). The blame of killing Jesus caused many Christians to hate the Jews, and
give the Christians and legitimate reason to discriminate. Blaming Jews for events that were not in
their control is a pattern seen thru history. The Jews were also blamed for the black death in 1348,
even when their was no evidence that the Jews caused a plague (Bergen). The build up of hate

Drugs In Developing Countries
Developed countries In developed countries the technology and doctors are good enough to produce
and prescribe drugs to the right people and are able to treat everyone affected, weheras in LED
countries some people will be treated whilst others won t due to there not being enough resource to
treat everyone. Less economically developed countries Multiple sclerosis is a serious condition that
affects the brain and the spinal cord. However, in different locations this disease will have different
effects; in less economically developed countries the condition would be harder to deal with. This
could be due to them not having the right equipment to manufacture cures so they would have to seek
help from elsewhere. These countries are not as technologically advanced as places like the US and
the UK, so they don t have the means to produce the medicine. Populations This disease is not really
life threatening/ not fatal so the population size will not really be affected. Although in less
economically developed countries those families with a person that is suffering from multiple sclerosis
will find it hard to care for him/her as they will require more attention. Economy As there is no cure
for multiple sclerosis as of now scientists will always be testing new drugs to find a cure. This will
obviously have an affect on the economy as drug trials require a lot of money in order to be carried;
drug test will only really be carried out in the more developed countries as

Analysis Of The Poem The Thou Wilt Despatch Me
Thomas Weelkes (c 1576 1623) was an Organist and a composer. He studied music at Oxford, and
eventually secured positions as an organist at Winchester College then Chichester Cathedral as a
choirmaster. Weelkes was a daring composer, using many dissonances amongst five voices and
varying rhythms tremendously. Nevertheless, he garnered significant success during his time and
wrote some of the best English madrigals. One of his most known pieces, O Care, thou wilt despatch
me is an interesting literary work as it has numerous contrasting lines. The primary lines express a
melancholic mood, but is juxtaposed with the gleeful phrase Fa la la . Weelkes emulates this the poem
s tone through the use of word painting throughout the music.

The first is evident in m. 3, when the bass, tenor, and alto sing Care , and a c seventh diminished chord
is sung. It then breaks off, and is resolved into a B major chord. Nevertheless, dissonance is portrayed
in this word again when the soprano joins in at m. 7 and an augmented c triad is sung. This is
significant in delineating the sadness of the piece. This first section continues with this technique,
oscillating between dissonance and consonance. A highly consonant area is in the following section
starting at m. 15, rightfully expressing the joy that music can bring. In m. 23, there is a dissonance for
a one beat duration before the piece returns to the melancholic text. A dissonance is heard again in a c
diminished chord between the top three parts in m. 26 in the word deadly , bringing back the text s
tension. The dissonances become less prevalent as the piece moves into the next section discussing
happiness. Properly, the first part ends on a major chord, providing an uplifting end and supporting the
triumphant mood the text brings.
The beginning of the piece, mm1 14, has longer rhythms in which notes mainly fluctuate between half
note or whole note values. The only occurrence of textual and rhythmic alignment is in mm 4 5
between the bass and alto in the word despatch . So not only do these long notes emphasize the
melancholic mood of the text, but so does the

The Sun Also Rises Robert Cohn Analysis
Robert Cohn s interaction with Brett and the expatriates, bullfighting and gender conventions, leads to
a moral destruction of his character and mimics the timeline of the Lost Generation and its encounter
with traditions. The Sun Also Rises is introduced by the narrative of Cohn s life; his history at
Princeton includes anti Semitism and a middleweight boxing championship title. He excelled at
athletics to counteract the persecution he faced as a Jew, becoming a symbol of traditional masculinity.
Robert s use of masculinity as a shield relates to the way the Lost Generation aspires to fulfill gender
roles to deflect from their position in society as outcasts. Cohn also wasn t a soldier in the Great War,
and so he emulates the lifestyle of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cohn is initially nauseated by the graphic sport, but then later pretends to be disinterested in it, in
order to seem tougher. Bullfighting in The Sun Also Rises represents passion and sexuality, and a
freedom of expression and individualism. So, Cohn s rejection of this shows the disconnect of the Lost
Generation and these values. The bullfights also inspire the rebirth of masculinity in Cohn, and the
need for gender role fulfillment. Before, Cohn was extremely passive in confrontations, and never
used his boxing skills. For example, when Frances was berating him after their relationship ended,
Cohn was unresponsive and just absorbed her comments. But, after the bull show, Cohn s amplified
masculinity leads to a display of intense violence. Cohn is still obsessed with Brett and demands the
other to tell him where she is. When they don t he fights Mike, knocks out Jakes, and almost kills
Romero. Cohn s attacks are his attempt to control masculinity, but it only results in a damaged
relationship with his expatriate friends. Cohn and his morals are destroyed when his outdated
romanticism interacts with the modern times through his relationship with Brett. This also symbolizes
the rift between the Lost Generation and the masculine conventions of the time. Cohn almost killed
Romero, but he had a supernatural resistance to the beatings of the 20th century traditions. Romero,
the matador, is another symbol

Case Study Of Bain Company
1 Introduction
The global consulting industry has generated $240 billion revenues in 2015 and as such represents one
of the largest markets within the professional services industry (Consultancy.uk, n.d.). Even if strategy
consulting constitutes solely 12% market share (i.e., $28.8 billion) it is the most prestigious sector
(Consultancy.uk, n.d.). While other sectors of the consulting industry can be delineated rather easily,
strategy consulting occupies a special position. Companies of that sector not solely provide strategy
consulting services, but consulting services of other sectors alike, however from a purely strategic
point of view. Upon closer inspection of the strategy consulting industry, it becomes apparent that the

While the former constitutes the functional positioning of its organizational units, the latter describes a
pattern of shared basic assumptions that was learned by a group as it solved its problems of external
adaptation and internal integration, that has worked well enough to be considered valid and, therefore,
to be taught to new members as the correct way to perceive, think, and feel in relation to those
problems (Schein, 2004, p. 17).
Due to the characteristics of the business model of strategy consulting, Bain Company s organizational
structure differs significantly from other industries. Although there is a global, albeit confidential,
organizational structure, Bain Company is primarily structured by office whose organizational units
are exhibited in Figure 1. Directed by Office Management, the organizational structure on office level
is divided into two main pillars: Consulting Staff and Consulting Support Services (Bain Company
Inc., n.d. l). While consulting employees are generally not split across the various consulting services
(see Chapter 2.3.1), the particular dynamics of private equity consulting require a temporary
separation of those selected consulting employees. Furthermore, although Executive/Manager
Assistants constitute a consulting support service, the daily interaction with their assigned managers,
principals, and partners (the latter two represent executive organizational levels) creates a strong link
between these organizational

Child Trafficking Is A Universal Issue
According to the Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons, Especially Women
and Children (2000), child trafficking is the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harbouring or receipt
of children for the purpose of exploitation. It is a violation of their rights, their well being and denies
them the opportunity to reach their full potential. Cathy Paris once said, Truthfully, human trafficking
is just a polite way to say modern day slavery. That being said, no human is adequate to legislate and
alternate a fellow human, without that humans assent. Even though slavery was abolished centuries
ago, it still lingers on secretly in many countries in the world. Unfortunately, Child trafficking is a

According to the World Bank report Ghana has a population of approximately 25.90 million and GDP
of 47.93 billion dollars in 2013(Worldbank.org, 2014). That goes to say that there should be enough
resources to be able to implement full measures to invest in education and job creation so as to
alleviate poverty in the country. For most non Western countries, the reasons why most of these
important issues are overlooked is because of systemic corruption.
Corruption is the only logic answer that can explain the neglect of this phenomenon. Tragically, the
legislature of Ghana and in addition other African nations permits and supports these misbehaviors.
Degenerate practices are sought after for own self increase. Thus the reasons explicable for the growth
of Child trafficking in Ghana are neglect by the government, the fear of the cost to be incurred by the
government if child trafficking is to be tackled and finally the absence of an effective the rule of law
in Ghana. Corruption is ultimately the only logic reason why all the factors mentioned above would
thrive. Since the economy of Ghana is steadily growing, why is this prevalent in the rural areas?
Through analysis of the topic of Child Trafficking in Ghana I argue that even though it is not yet a
widespread issue, as we know corruption to erode, in years to come if measures are not put into place,
it will become a nationwide calamity. Therefore, the objective of this

Isolation And The Machine
Under the control of the Machine, isolation and self isolation are actions that are awfully prevalent
throughout society. Each individual is confined to a singular room that delivers all mental and physical
stimulations necessary for life. Society has grown to actively avoid all forms of physical
communication that can lead to the disassembling of the isolated existence that each individual has
grown to worship under the Machine. Vashti, the mother of Kuno, is completely submerged in the
framework created by the Machine. She seeks isolation in the form of cessation from the world
outside her cell. Technological connection is seemingly the only form of communication that she
experiences with other individuals. The act of being in the presence

carbohydrates meals while reducing the level of activities. Carbohydrate loading is mostly beneficial
for enduring athletes such as swimmers, cyclists, and marathon runners. Other athletes do not require
carbohydrate loading since it is possible for them to get their calories from carbohydrates (Mayo
Clinic Staff, 2015). To understand more about carbohydrates loading, this excerpt will examine how it

Evaluating The Efficient Market Hypothesis
1. Abstract The Efficient Market Hypothesis expresses that assets prices should reflect all the
information available in the financial markets. However, information is changing rapidly and
therefore, prices should adapt quickly. This document states and discusses the main ideas behind the
Efficient Market Hypothesis providing information about its three versions Weak Form Efficiency,
Semi Strong Form Efficiency and Strong Form Efficiency. The Efficient Market Hypothesis, might be
a debatable concept and some authors have particularly provided evidence in favour including the
concepts of different tests to support their arguments. On the other hand, those who support ideas
against the EMH sustain their arguments on topics like, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

reflects the information of the current stock value which fully reflects with available funds about the
value of firm by using this business cannot make more profit it is also state that there is no way or
impossible to beat the market . It is also known as the investment theory or random walk theory
(Malkiel, Winter, 2003), (Clarke, Jandik, Mandelker, 2001) it gives the clear idea about elements on
which bases the price change in the security market and how it brings the changes in the market. The
EMH recommend that the assuming price movement will be difficult and no expectable in achieving
the profit. The element behind changing the price is arriving new information in the market. If the new
prices adapt quickly and on average without prejudice, then the market is called efficient market . The
reality of an efficient market is that, there is an intense competition between the investors to achieve
profit when the new information comes in the market. So, it is very important to identify over and
under priced stock for the investors to buy some stock less than true value can sell than their worth
value for profit. In efficient market very data and information is open and all the investments is

March To The Sea Essay
In March, 1864, Lincoln made Grant the commander in chief of Union forces, with the rank of
Lieutenant General. Grants strategy of Total War was to advance on the enemy from more than one
front. He believed that continual pressure on all fronts would prevent Confederate forces from
reinforcing each other. In the east, Grant s plan was to whittle down the manpower of the Army of
Northern Virginia by staging an unrelenting attack. After half a dozen epic battles, Grant s army
besieged the town of Petersburg, pinning Lee s forced down. Simultaneously, in the west General
William T. Sherman s troops were marching to Atlanta. The seized and burned the city, which was an
essential railroad junction for the Confederates. This victory guaranteed Lincolns re election in 1864,
ruining any Confederate hope of independence. Sherman s army then moved east in what is
commonly referred to as the March to the Sea , burning and destroying Georgia as he went. His
railroad men destroyed all of the rail lines that led back to Chattanooga, Tennessee, so as to deny a
vital supply line to the Confederates. By shrinking the vast amount of land, the Confederate Army
could operate within, Sherman was able to contain it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Symbiotic Relationship Lab Report
Parasitic or Mutual Symbiotic Relationship?
Author: Natasha Patel. Lab Partner: Ariana Crolene. Mira Costa College 3333 Manchester Ave
Cardiff, CA 92007.
Abstract:
Our experiment is designed to show the symbiotic relationship between the mycorrhizal fungus and
spinach plant. We constructed a 2X2 table of live molasses and controlled groups. Our hypothesis is
that the live molasses with mycorrhizae group will extend the plants root bodies and increase the total
surface area of the plant. That being said, the fungus and the plant will have a symbiotic mutual
relationship towards each other. Our predictions came out to be false. The controlled groups had a
higher average in shoot length and wet mass, which indicates that the plant and fungus have a parasitic
relationship towards each other.
Introduction: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The mycorrhizae benefited from the sugars but the plant did not benefit from the mycorrhizae, which
caused them to not extend their root bodies. The controlled groups had higher averages than the lived
averages. Also, the class averages were similar to our data as well. For future experiments, the plants
with mycorrhizae should be given more molasses, which will allow us to detect if the plant and fungus
have a symbiotic relationship or not. There have been many studies that provide mycorrhizae aiding
plants for nutrients, proper growth, and survival. However, there are experiments that will show
outliers and proving that not all studies are correct, which basically demonstrates the field of biology.
In biology, we constantly perform numerous experiments to validate our hypothesis. But, there are
exceptions when our hypothesis comes out to be false, which always gives us room to modify our
errors. Thus, biology is a never ending field and is constantly growing for new findings in

Graphical User Interfaces
Modern society heavily depends on the abilities of computers, Information Technology, and
information processing. As such, since access to information occurs mainly through digital means and
media, the way information is arranged and presented on the screen is crucial. Because of this need for
fast access and easy arrangement arose, in the early 1980s, companies started to work on various
graphical user interfaces (or GUI for short). Most dictionaries define a GUI as a way of arranging
information on a computer screen that is easy to understand and use because it uses icons, menus and
a mouse rather than only text. Introducing such software allowed a human computer interaction on a
visual plane, and took computing to an entirely new ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before Graphical User Interfaces became a standard for giving commands and retrieving information,
computers were controlled through the means of a text based interface. This meant that a person had to
enter text commands in order to communicate with the computer, which meant that one had to know
various commands that could be entered and specific, technologic jargon that for a normal person , not
prominent in the art of computing was simply hard, or even impossible to comprehend and memorize.
On top of that, the data was displayed on the screen was usually presented in form of a column of text,
employing the aforementioned jargon and syntax of computer language . As a consequence, computers
were rather reserved for enthusiasts and professionals than general public, which at that time didn t
find them useful or attractive.
When a user interface that focused on presenting information in a graphical way appeared, a
revolution took place. Suddenly, a common person even one, that has never dealt with such a device
before could approach a computer, and be actually able to perform operations on it, using a pointer
device instead of typing complicated commands on a keyboard. If he wanted to move a file from one
place to another, he wouldn t have to type COPY followed with a string of letters and symbols, but
simply grab the file with the arrow, drag it across the screen, and drop it where he wanted. Such action

Art Of War Movie Vs Book
If you know the enemy and know yourself you need not fear the results of a hundred battles , stated
Sun Tzu in his book The Art Of War. This quote ties greatly to the mindset of Ender Wiggin. Ender is
confronted with an opponent who he cannot beat. All his life he has been the underdog, but smarter
than all those around him and battle school gave him a chance to prove his worth. The intensity of
Ender s Family life and his journey to defeat the buggers, is much more coherent in the movie than the
book.
The Movie and the book both had decisive themes that made this story as incredible as it is. These
themes are a major part, and would drastically change the story if it was removed. Ender being a third
gave him character and showed the readers he is different from ... Show more content on

One big difference would be the fact the movie leaves so much out. The book had a lot of unnecessary
information that made the story tedious. The movie shortened things and made it get right to the point.
Another difference would be the training process, in the movie the training was not long at all. We got
an idea of how essential it was, then it went straight to the real battle. The last disparity and probably
the most odd, was Peter not being in the movie much. In the book Peter had a very big role, and
played a huge part in Ender s life. However, in the movie he showed up once and wasn t mentioned
much after that. These discrepancies were what made these two places there own.
The way the movie put the key ideas of the story together, made it much more understandable than the
book. The Movie gave great visuals and puts you into the life of Ender by having him tell his own
story. The book made Ender seem unreal and he was very hard to relate to. People that like for things
to get straight to the point and easily understood would appreciate the movie more than the book. The
book deserves to be

Evaluating Benjamin Todd s Speech From A Ted Talk
I decided to report my speech from a ted talk. I chose a topic that would be interesting enough to hear
and can easily be relatable. The speaker I chose to evaluate is Benjamin Todd. Todd did his ted talk to
persuade his audience to find work that they love instead of following their passion. At first the title
was confusing because in my opinion love and passion would go together, however by listening to his
speech throughout he was able to persuade me on how I should pick my career and how I should avoid
picking the wrong one. He also explains how a person should pick a career that would benefit the
society to gain a sense of fulfillment.

Todd delivers a successful speech as he uses hand gestures and does movements throughout that
correlated well with his speech. He raises the pitch of his voice while discussing a main point to create
emphasis on that specific idea. For example, when he tries to persuade his audience to do something
valuable and be altruistic he raises his voice to leave an impact on his audience. He dresses business
causal to appear formal but also look like a regular everyday person to relate to his audience instead of
being completely professional and dressing up in a suit and tie. He pauses many times to let his
audience process his main points. His posture and facial expressions made him appear more confident
which makes one likely to believe that the speaker knows what he is talking about. He had an
audience of about 20 50 people and throughout his speech held eye contact with as many people as he
can to keep them interested. He looks around at his audience several times to keep them engaged.
Todd also uses language such as such as his slogan do something valuable throughout the speech to
emphasize his ideas and make it sound more persuasive. He uses imagery to make his audience

The Treatment Of Major Depression
In the treatment of Major Depression, using Chinese Herbal Medicine is effective. by Ozben Felek
Introduction of Major Depressive Disorder According to the World Health Organization (WHO)
nearly 19 million U.S. adults have a depressive illness. WHO predicts that by 2020, it will be a
leading cause of disability worldwide. 1 DSM IV (1980) describes depression as, loss of interest or

manic, or mixed depressed manic mood that interfere with normal social or occupational functioning
as mood disorders. Maciocia G. (2009) cites that according to the Mayo Clinic ,major depressive

Comparing Christian Liberty, Utopia, and The Prince Essay
Christian Liberty, Utopia, and The Prince
A Christian is a perfectly free lord of all, subject to none...A Christian is a perfectly dutiful servant to
all, subject to none. (Luther Pg. 7) These lines show what Luther is truly about. In Christian Liberty,
Luther believes in the reestablishing of God as the inner authority. In Utopia, Thomas More believes
the power should be in one group and that the rest of the common people in the society should all be
equal like a communist society. In The Prince, Machievelli believes that the power is within the
prince. I choose Christian Liberty as the best form of authority because it is the closest to being an
honest and true way of authority. Although none of the books portray ... Show more content on

Is not such a soul most obedient to God in all things by this faith? ...What more complete fulfillment is
there than obedience in all things? This obedience, however, is not rendered by works but by faith
alone. (Luther page 13) In this passage Luther is explaining the inner man versus the outer man. He is
showing that if you trust and believe in God then he will never steer you wrong but if you don t then,
what greater wickedness, what greater contempt of God is there than not believing his promise...but to
make God a liar or to doubt that he is truthful? That is to ascribe truthfulness to one s self but lying

about the spiritual aspect of a person now we are going to talk about the physical aspect.

Assignment On Deck Repairs And Costs
Deck Repairs and Costs
The type of wood that comprises your deck will play a big role in determining what repairs are
necessary, and on what timeline. While composite decks are becoming more and more popular, there s
just no denying the beauty and longevity of a wood deck. Wood decks should last for several decades
when properly maintained, and cost less to install than composite decks.
Wood decks also increase the value of your home, and it is estimated that a standard wood deck will
recoup on average 85.4 percent of its cost when the house is sold. In comparison, a composite deck
will only recoup an average 77.6 percent of its total cost.
Regardless of which type of wood your current deck is made of, the following repairs are most often
required at some point in the life of your deck:
Replacing Deck Boards
One of the most common repair projects is replacing deck boards. You might need to do this for a
variety of reasons, including:
● Instability If the boards themselves have become unstable, they should be replaced. Replacing a few
deck boards will generally run $500 to 4,000. Some companies charge a minimum of $1,000 for

Essay on The Use of Sound in the Graduate
The use of sound in The Graduate
The movie The Graduate was a pioneer for the film industry in regards to its use of popular music as
non diegetic sound throughout the film. The Simon and Garfunkel sound track fit in very nicely to set
the tone of the film and give the audience clues as to what the characters were feeling. Aside from the
non diegetic sound the diegetic sound was also used very effectively to express character emotions, in
particular Ben s emotions. Ben s disconnect from society as a whole could have been discovered in the
scene in which his father is having him present his birthday present; the use of sound was so strong it
would not be difficult to completely understand the scene even without the visuals.

We know that he wants to be heard, but is brushed to the side. We also can assume that he is locked in
this scuba gear but is unable to make any verbal communication nor is he able to accept any verbal
communication. The plunge into the water could have signified a parallel to his actual feelings. He is
now completely disconnected from anyone around him and when he tries to resurface to get back to
the world something forces him to go back under once again prohibiting his ability to speak for
himself, much like how he was repeatedly disregarded and pushed away by his father earlier in the
scene. Finally when we open our eyes up we see that everything assumed from just the audio is pretty
true. In fact we learn that it was his father who kept pushing him under the water and preventing him
to resurface where the rest of the party was.
In my other movie watching endeavors I have found that being underwater is very symbolic of a
disconnection from society. One example in particular is found in the movie Old School in which Will
Ferrell s character is hit with a tranquilizer dart and ends up trying to get help from the people at the
party he is at but inadvertently falls into a swimming pool. Interestingly enough the song The Sound
of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel begins to play. I found this interesting because The Graduate also
uses the same song at other points to illustrate Ben s inability to communicate with the outside world.
I think that had

Role Of The Private Limited Company
1.0 Introduction Incorporation is forming of a new corporation. A corporation is like a legal entity that
can be effectively recognized as a person under the law. The corporation may be a non profit
organization or a business. It is not affected by the death of any member. A sole trader is the most
simple structure of business. This structure is less expensive to set up because there are very few legal
and tax formalities. Operating your business as a sole trader means you trade on your own and control
and manage the business. In Private Limited Company there is a minimum two to a maximum of fifty
people, these people make financial contributions to their business and they have limited liability.

Netherland Political Analysis
The History and Politics of the Netherlands
A kingdom by the sea that is characterised by the roaring lion and the falling petals of a tulip bulb. A
place once revolved around the trade of agricultural products such as fish and meat production that has
become an industrial empire among its surrounding sister nations. Throughout time the Kingdom of
the Netherlands has been somewhat of an isolationist country but nonetheless has managed to keep a

In our time and with the remarkable progress in the field of Internet, web sites can be considered the
purpose and the main target for the Internet hackers. The Internet hackers worked on transfer their

The Genetic Modification Of Food
The genetic modification of food is a very argue subject around the world founded by Monsanto, a
company complex in geoponic technology, in the 1980 s (Wikipedia). Since then, many other
companies have also started to alter their food to avoid using pesticides. Genetically modified foods as
foods produced from organisms that have had specific changes introduced into their DNA using the
methods of genetic engineering (Wikipedia). There are many different views concerning GMOs and
quest the ideological and moral arguments related with this subject. Survey factors affect the decision
of nations or each person on whether GMOs are condensing or harmful to health. Veganism is a type
of vegetarian diet that refuse meat, eggs, dairy products and all other animal derived ingredients
(Hackett, 2014) . Interview someone who followed veganism but became vegetarian, vegans don t
support GMOs. They like to eat as close to nature as possible and believe that genetic engineering is
altering nature . (EttINGER, 2012) This is why vegans don t eat meat, because animals are fed GMOs.
Such as corn and soy just to make them fat up faster despite harm health issues related with these

Michelle Obama Comparison Essay
Comparison Essay Michelle Obama s speech was very similar to a book by Kathleen Duble called
Sacrifice. Both topics talk about being brave and how you must believe everything will be alright in
the end. Michelle Obama s speech uses hope to aspire young women, and Sacrifice uses hope to show
how to get through hard tasks. Overall in both these topics they have very similar points that could be
easily comparable. First, Michelle Obama says It s that feeling of terror and violation that too many
women have felt {Obama 8}. This is comparable to when the main characters sister Dorothy stands up
for herself, but then gets shoved to the ground by an angry jailor who has no respect for her(Duble 3).
These two instances are comparable because Dorothy felt violation and terror just like the many
women Michelle Obama said. Another comparable topic is when Michelle Obama says Maybe we ve
grown accustomed to swallowing these emotions and staying quiet (Obama 9). This is comparable to
when the main character Abigail gets her bread taken away for voicing her opinion and she realizes
she must stay quiet and not voice her opinion(Duble 1). I think these to compare because the girls

The film October Sky (1999), directed by Joe Johnson is based on a true story of Homer Hickman ( a

(Sputnik) into orbit. The film definitely focuses on the course theme of being a social outcast. This is
explored in the film through three people, John Hickman (Homers Father), the town of Coalwood and
Mr.Turner (Homers principle). Firstly, John Hickman, father of Homer Hickman and a coal miner at

When Homer wins the school science fair and then gets to go to the National Science Fair the town of
Coalwood was so happy for them. The town of Coalwood was never supportive of Homer and the
boys and that is why they socially out casted Homer and his friends.
Thirdly, Homers principle out casted Homer. Now you may ask, how could a principle socially outcast
their own student. Mr. Turner (Homers principle) socially out casted Homer by not allowing him to do
what he loved. Homer wanted to make a rocket to get a scholarship but the principle made it so hard
on homer. He had Homer arrested because he thought that Homer started a fire, he didn t allow the
boys to work on their rocket at school or make the stuff for the rocket so that it can fly. It seemed like
Mr.Turner didn t want one of his own students to succeed. But with the help from Mrs. Riley she
helped Homer and his friends succeed and she fought against the principle. Mr.Turner never really
stopped socially out casting Homer and his friends. It really shows how a principle can really put a big
impact on one of their students
In conclusion, the film October Sky touches on Homer Hickman s determination to successfully build
and launch his own rocket despite being isolated by his family, friends, schoolmates, school officials
and community. This is shown through John Hickman (Homers father), the town of Coalwood and Mr.

After doing the medication rounds, I was asked to help with the hygiene care of a resident, Mrs V.E, a

and could barely move. She also had a big, open and deep wound on her left leg that was not healing

She was on syringe driver with pain relievers and anxiolitics to keep her calm and free of pain.
Together with and enrolled and a registered nurse, we knock on her door and entered the room. At first

calm face and a sincere smile as we greeted her. We explained that we were going to do bed bath and
wound dressing as she had not had any hygienic care for the past three or four days. Without any
hesitation, she nodded and agreed. Moreover, she complained of itchiness all throughout her body. As
I started to wipe her face with a warm, moist towel, I noticed that relief was written all over her face
with every gentle stroke I made. She frowned and tried to bear the pain as I moved her arms and
carefully cleaned it. I told her I am sorry a couple of times every time she was in pain because of our

Frontline Reports on One of Americas most Dangerous Companies
A Reaction Paper
Frontline with the New York Times reports on one of the largest iron pipe foundry companies,
McWanes Tyler Pipe, and the problem with the company. McWane Inc. was founded by J.R. McWane
in 1921 on the desolate Birmingham Alabama soil. J.R built his water and sewage pipe manufacturing
corporation to now one of the biggest privately owned companies in the nation. Creating water and
sewage pipe by melting metal and casting pipe can be very dangerous and dirty if not handled with the
right process and procedures. However, the workers say that the company ruthlessly tries to increase
production by costing the safety of its workers and has succeeded at this with what McWanes calls
disciplined management practices . This disgusting fact has lead the company to accumulate an
abnormal amount of safety violations that include around 4,600 injuries and 9 deaths. The sad part
about all this is most of the misfortunes have happened in the past couple decades when new age
management and safety practices should have been a top most priority.
Why can t the McWane Corporation get it into their heads that worker safety needs to be a priority?
McWanes top competitor, American Cast Iron Pipe Company (ACIPCO), lives by the rule of worker
safety and is still making a large profit while being one of the top companies to work for in the nation.

in Italy and spread into Europe between the 14th century into the 17th century, and made that
transition from medieval to modern time. (Dictionary.com) Most of the towns turned into cities and
businesses. Italy was forming into an urban city. A city that followed religion still and remained loyal

In most cases, the need for modifications arises from the change in the health status of a customer. The

them to come up with an ideal design that will fit the clients needs. The documents are availed either
by the insurance company or by the families. In the transition period, the company is required to

Community In S. E. Hinton s The Outsiders
S.E. Hinton s realistic fiction novel, The Outsiders takes place in Tulsa, Oklahoma in the 1950 s. The
Outsiders is about a small town where the town is divided into two social classes the Greasers and the
Socs. From the Socs perspective the Greasers are the low life junkies who are in gangs even though
they re really just in a less fortunate circumstances, and the Socs are the more privileged kids.
Ponyboy is the younger of his two brothers Darry and Sodapop. While some believe the strongest
theme is divided community, I argue that the strongest theme is loyalty, as supported by S.E. Hinton s
use of dialogue, characterization, and conflict. While it is easy to say that the theme of The Outsiders

When the Socs and Greasers have a rumble, (Hinton 130), and all the Greaser gangs teamed up to
fight the Socs together.Next, the dialogue is when two or more characters are talking out loud in a
story, and their conversation are surrounded by quotation marks. Darry would be a Soc if It wasn t for
you and Soda, (Hinton 20). This is when Darry shows loyalty to his brothers and his gang by not
becoming a Soc. Dally may be a jerk but he is a Greaser and Greasers stick together, (Hinton15). This
quote means that Greasers are like family you stick up for them no matter what. Also it shows how
Pony thinks Dally is a jerk, but he considers him family.Secondly, Characterization is when a
character in the story or the narrator describes how a character acts or looks like. Pony describes Soda
as handsome like the movie star kind. (Hinton 10). This part of characterization shows how soda could
have say for example a movie star because most actors have to be handsome, but he stayed with his
brothers to help them out. Pony also describes Darry as strong, confident, and too young to be running
a family on his own if at all. (Hinton 10). This piece of characterization shows how Darry doesn t turn
his back on his brothers and leave them he stays by their side to take care of them.Lastly, conflict is
when one or more character are in an argument or are physically fighting. One of the major conflicts is

Following the arrival of European settlers during the 1830s deforestation occurred on a large scale.
Prior to this Lake Forsyth would have been surrounded by Podocarp and Conifer hardwood forests.
The ridges and peaks would have been covered with low scrub and tussock. These changes have

Marina Abramovic Essay
Performance art is integral to the story of art because it drastically changed the overall shape and
evolution direction of art over the past one hundred years. One of the major artists in this genre of art
is Marina Abramovíc, the grandmother of performance art as considered by herself due to her
contribution and dedication to the aforementioned form of art since the 60s until today. Having been
active for over three decades, her works have a great impact on people nowadays and usually
described as remarkable and intensive. Figure 01: Marina Abramovic (Manfred Werner 2012) Having

her most challenging and famous work due to its meaning and the way it approached and explored the

Brain tumor detection is a tedious job because of the complex structure of the brain. From the MR
images, the information such as tumor location can be understood. It provides an easier way to
diagnose the tumor and plan the surgical approach for its removal. Doctors do not have a method that
can be used for brain tumor detection and standardization, which leads to varying conclusions between
one doctor to another. There comes the requirement of an automated system for locating tumor in
Magnetic Resonance Image (MRI).
The existing classification methods have limitation in accuracy, exactness and require manual
interaction. So, designing automated system using image segmentation techniques helps make the
detection accurate and efficient.
A new system that can be used as a second decision for the surgeons and radiologists is proposed. In
this system, brain tumors have been segmented with the help of two methods that is Enhanced K

The Enhanced K Strange Points Clustering algorithm converged faster with less number of steps than

The history of modern Egypt begins with the decline of the Ottoman Empire and the interference of
the French and British in 1798. Following the British claim of South Africa, a move designed to stop
French access to East Asia, Napoleon was directed to take control of Egypt with the intention of
building a canal to circumvent British South Africa. While the French conquest of Egypt was
unsuccessful, it did result in Muhammad Ali s assignment by the Ottoman Sultan to the region. Ali
established himself and over the course of the early 1800s managed to carve out a significant standing
in Egypt and implemented many reforms that helped to push Egypt ahead of much of the Ottoman

Logistics and Sieges of Alexander the Great Essays
Alexander the Great inherited one of the most powerful armies in the ancient world from his father
Philip. The army used a unique spear phalanx that was virtually unheard of outside of Macedonia, and
the army was well trained and supported. Additionally Philip felt the use of siege weaponry was of
great importance and invested in engineers to aid him. Philip even used siege weaponry on the field in
battle some times. Philip set the stage for his son to dominate the known world, and even gave him a
road map for conquering Asia minor, but an army and siege weapons are only a portion of an armies
success. Especially when planning a long protracted campaign far from home. Alexander s conquest
of Asia was heavily influenced by two very ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Only enough carts and animals to carry the siege equipment, tents, rations, and other equipment
required by the army were used. All additional rations would have to have been carried via Alexander
s fleet. Memnon wanted to pursue a policy of scorched earth and then bring the war to Greece to
prevent Alexander from being able to wage war abroad, and if the other Persian generals had followed
his advice Alexander would have most likely had to return to Macedonia and never been able to
accomplish anything outside of Greece. Due to the Persian s vanity they decided to instead attack
Alexander directly without razing the countryside and were defeated leading to Alexander gaining the
foothold he needed in Asia. A likely scenario would put a seven day limit on the amount of rations the
army carried with it in a temperate climate and a two day limit in desert regions where the army could
not forage for additional food, water, and fodder. No matter how many pack animals an army used the
maximum amount of rations that could be carried would be twenty five days due to the feed required
by all of the animals. Another problem with adding additional animals to the supply train is the sheer
number of animals required to carry everything. Should the Macedonian army use enough animals to
carry the maximum twenty five day amount of rations the number of animals would have stretched
over thirty miles and with an

The Application Of Non Living Things Could Be Protected...
Introduction:
Non living things could be protected from pathogens by defence chemicals in the form of disinfectants
which are applied thinly on the objects and surfaces. For living things, their defence from pathogens
comes in the form of antibiotics and antiseptics, the former given intravenously or through oral
administration and the latter applied on the skin whatever the indented purpose may be but does still
meet the defence required if applied in the right doses(Lee et al).
Pathogens on the surface are eliminated physically by disinfectants. The mode of operation comes in
the form of chemicals, diluted or undiluted for cleaning and by heating; we have noticed this process
used in the milk preservation through pasteurisation whereby milk is heated at a very high temperature
to kill pathogens. The application of disinfectants varies widely in use for the different settings. For
healthcare cleaning to control and keep out pathogens, ethanol is the number one choice used to
disinfect and sanitise floors, operation surfaces and surfaces touched the most by people like doors
and door closing aids. The liquid based disinfectant normally gets rid of bacteria if it is in the right
dilutions or measurements. There are iodine and chlorine based disinfectants both targeting pathogens.
The latter is generally used in water treatment and food hygiene and the former widely used for
making surgical instruments to render them free from pathogens, thus sterilisation. Antimicrobial

Disadvantages Of Investment Banks
1) What are Investment Banks?
Investment banks are used as business middlemen and underwriters. Investment banks will calculate
the risk of an action that a company wants to perform, underwrites it, and sells the safety. Indeed,
investment banks are useful, but they have many other uses. Investment banks can also be used as M
A advisors, helping the buyer find an ideal company to merge with. Investment banks also sale
security and investors such as mutual funds use investment banks to trade security. People can now
open checking accounts with investment banks. JP Morgan offers checking accounts, something that
wasn t possible 20 years ago. Finally, the investment bank industry took a big hit in 2008, and the

ATMs are a common EFT service. Direct deposits are another service that allows companies to
perform direct transactions on one s account, such as gym or membership fees. There are many other
types of EFT available for consumers. However, before one signs id EFT service contract, one should
at first receive a summary for one s liability for unauthorized transfers, phone number and contact
information in case an unauthorized transfer is made, type of transfers one can make, instructions on
how to report errors on receipts for one s EFT or one s statement, a summary of the institution s
liability if it doesn t stop from charging, circumstances when the institution will share one s
information with third parties, and fees one will have to pay when using another bank s ATM.
Different rules apply to deposit accounts with preset transfers. If a missing credit card is reported
stolen within two days, any charges greater than $50 won t be charged for. If one cannot report a
stolen card because he or she is sick, the term will be extended. If I were to lose my credit card but I

the participants were then asked if they heard of the Stroop effect or had they been involved in any

Amway in China
Amway in China (A): A New Business ModelAssignment Questions1.What are Amway s core
competencies?Amway has been a successfully growing business since 1959 due to its unique
adaptation of direct marketing. The company has now expanded into over 80 countries and has been to
some, an example of the American dream. This was what caused the tremendous growth and is what
gave Amway its most valuable asset; its distributors. Amway s distributors are all Independent
Business Owners (IBOs) because they have no legal ties to Amway other than they buy the products
directly and sign a brief code of conduct agreement. This however does not mean that IBOs are not
extremely loyal to Amway.
IBOs are literally the foundation of Amway s pyramid shaped ... Show more content on

Amway is similar to other direct marketing companies such as Dell Computers in that it reduces
product costs to consumers by bypassing retailers. Dell is also similar to Amway because by dealing
directly with consumers it can find out exactly what the consumer needs without incurring consumer
research costs that will be passed onto the consumer. Although Amway did not invent direct marketing
it has been said that it reinvented it. Therefore Amway is unlike most companies that use direct
marketing. Amway s direct marketing design resembles a pyramid but it not however a pyramid
scheme or a ponzi scheme. A ponzi scheme is a illegal operation that promises high returns on short
term investments. It continues with investors keeping their money in the investments thinking they are
making large sums of money. News spreads to others who also invest and the amount collected
continues to grow. If a few people decide to get out they are paid in order to disguise the scheme.
Unfortunately for those who keep their money invested, they will never see any profits or perhaps
their initial investment again. This is unlike a pyramid scheme because there are no levels of entry. A
person who gets involved first does not collect more money than someone who gets in last. Pyramid
schemes are characterized by costly start up costs, requirements to purchase products with virtually no
value, promises of exponential

The Importance Of Food Waste
Through the innovation of technology, mankind has been able to create great, and extraordinary feats
of nature. Taking the smallest indesirable object, then constructing it into a skyscraper or the smallest
most powerful computer. Also through the process of innovation we humans have almost completely
mastered the art of mass manufacturing products making our daily needs and wants readily available
to us. The food industry is a one of many examples of this mass manufacturing evolution, going from
food being made over camp fires to being made in huge factory pumping out fathoming quantities of
product. With this evolution comes the downfall of waste. Food waste is not always avoidable but in
some cases the waste is necessary as some things are not safe for consumption after undergoing
certain processes. But no matter the waste product some form of use should be found for the
seemingly invaluable waste product or a way to reduce unnecessary food waste. Food waste is a huge
problem most americans are completely oblivious too. According to a United states department of
Agriculture report, 133 billion pounds of food went unused in 2010. While animal products like meat
and dairy being towards the top of the list, added up to $105 billion of wasted food.( Waste Not, Want
not 26) While worldwide about one third of all food produced is either lost or gone to waste which
adds up to about 1.3 Billion tons of waste. To put into a better prospective 1.3 billion tons is

Essay The Hippie Movement of 1960s America
Hippies known for their love of drugs and sex, they often misguided the common folk of their
intentions. In their minds, what they were doing was guilelessly standing up for themselves and what
they considered was theirs; what they believed in. They believed in their rights, and they wanted to do
what they pleased; not to conform to the requirements of living in the average society of the time.
They wanted to create a culture where spiritual awareness was highly regarded (sometimes through
psychedelic drugs), where everything was given freely, where everyone (even strangers) were thought
of as one s brother, where everyone valued peace, and where rights were given freely to everyone.
(Express Thyself. (n.d.)) These rights would include ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But many of the upper and middle class did not like this outlook on life. In a world where the upper
classes were on top, and they had everything they wanted, they saw no reason for change in society.
The movement started with a few small groups of rebellious citizens, and it then grew into something
much bigger which led to a counterculture movement across the entire country. The American hippie
movement of the 1960s was strengthened by the increase of youth population. Many believe the
official beginning of this cultural event started with the youth of the 1960 s but it really started with
their parents. In the late 1930s and early 1940s America was just coming out of a disheartening
depression.(About the Great Depression.) America s unfortunate fate led them into another unlucky
situation, World War II. Many youthful men and women joined the service, in fact over an estimated
sixteen million total were sent into the war.( GI Bill History U. S. Department of Veterans Affairs. ) In
the late 1940s soldiers coming back at the end of the war were now onto the next stage of their lives
and made families. This is what started the baby boomers. After so many hardships and losses the last
thing anyone expected was an approximately seventy six million babies born between baby boomer
era of about ten to fifteen years. (BBHQ: Boomer Statistics. ) Many of these children had strict parents
who had become disheartened from losing childhood

Nationally, the goal is to provide community based living services, healthcare, mental health

Some would argue that government is a partner in policymaking for people with disabilities. Others
may disagree stating government has read some milestone but still has much work to complete in
proving services for people with disabilities.
Changes with the Affordable Care Act could impact healthcare and public service offered to disabled
people through Medicaid. President Trump on Monday made a late hour appeal to senators targeting
members of his own party to move forward with debate over faltering Republican legislation to
overhaul the Affordable Care Act (www.washingtonpost.com). The Washington Post further explains
Trump asked Republicans to make good on a promise to repeal the Affordable Care Act ACA.
Issues Nationally with DD Services Proposed cuts to the ACA or Obamacare as some many know it,
could threaten services for disabled persons. President Trump and Republicans in Congress want to
restructure the way Medicaid is funded. Instead of paying for all the medical care and services
beneficiaries need, the health care bill Republicans passed through the House last month would grant
each state a fixed sum per beneficiary based on what the state has spent in the past (npr.org).
Nationally, the poverty and employment situation for DD people is concerning. O Day, Livermore,
Imparato, (2006), researched poverty for people with developmental disabilities. O Day,

Global Warming And Climate Change Myths
If you want to go beyond that small percentage of people who are already environmentally and
scientifically aware, you have to make your work somehow link with a passion, interest, or profession
of someone who isn t interested in science or nature (Nalini Nadkarni, n.d.). Like most who are not
fully educated on a subject until they research it or take a course on it, I was not aware of the overall
importance or impact that environmental science had on my everyday life and the world around me.
One of the major things that have been brought to my attention in this course is environmental issues,
and what I can do to help improve them. One of the convincing arguments that have not only shaped
my attitude, but cleared a lot of things up for me was reading and learning about Global Warming and
climate change myths. One of the myths on the list that stood out to me was, They changed the name
from Global Warming to Climate Change (Global Warming Climate Change Myths, 2016). According
to the scientists, both terms actually mean two different things, and have both been used for decades,
proving that myth to be false. Another big myth that seems to occupy the minds of a very large part of
the world s population is, It s not an urgent situation. To this, scientists have responded (and I fully
agree) with, A large amount of warming is delayed, and if we don t act now we could pass tipping
points (Global Warming Climate Change Myths, 2016). Another topic that

A Brief Look at Subrata Roy
Introduction A table, two chairs, a Lambretta scooter and Rs. 2000 in pocket . Many entrepreneurs
may have similar beginnings, but none of them would match the person about whom we are going to
discuss. The man, who formed India s biggest family namely Sahara Parivar . A man, who did not care
about the road blocks, who always had faith in himself and moved forward to show that roadblocks
are nothing before determination and even demonstrated how they help in success. We are talking
about Subrata Roy Saharasree . A smiley face and traditional moustache are the most common look of
Saharesree. A man born in Bihar, where rarely any businessmen have been born, did the traditional
Lala business money interest calculation, done by almost all the wealthy people in Indian villages and
small town. Despite all odds against him, he still got success.
Journey In 1978, Subrata Roy started his business with Rs. 2000/ as capital. His first business was
raising funds from the people. Due to some bad business by some businessman, the government
banned this business in 1979 80. Roy s first business went into vain and he had to make the payment
immediately. After closure of first business, he started housing finance business. After 2 years, in 1982
the government imposed some ceiling on the raising fund for housing finance, which limited the
growth rate and compelled him to think beyond it. After these incidences, Mr. Roy started mutual

Analysis On Cradle And Michael Braungart
In Cradle to Cradle by William McDonough and Michael Braungart, the two authors take into great
detail by explaining the cradle to grave manufacturing system. The system explains every step of a
product s life from the creation to the disposal of the product. It is important to learn about this system
because in order for a company to track and take responsibility of their hazardous waste . The system
itself explained where products are created and the mass production goes into this system without
enough consideration to human health and the environment. McDonough and Braungart promote for a
new framework where companies take into consideration on every step of a product s lifestyle. In the
authors observations that human industry should co exist with nature by designing products that are in
a way non toxic, biodegradable, or recyclable without loss of material quality. With this in mind, a
common type of consumer product such as a plastic bottle that could be redesigned to be healthier for
humans, environmental friendly, and create less pollution towards our planet. The two ways that
plastic bottles can become more intelligently designed is by changing how plastic bottles are
manufactured in these industries and removing chemical ingredients that are harmful to human and
environmental health.
Before I get into explaining about the system, cradle to cradle I would like to give some history of
how plastic bottles came to be:

  • 2. Anti Semitism In The Holocaust Before the Holocaust and the killing of millions of Jews, many events took place solidifying the hatred towards Jews in Germany. People in Germany did not hate Jews overnight, a long history of universal hate towards Jews took place first. Throughout history the Jewish people have been victims of anti semitism because they do not fully assimilate, causing them to be outsiders. This historical backing of anti semitism with the combination of a poor economy, strong German identity and humiliation, causes Germany to have strong anti semitic sentiments during the 1920s and 1930s. Anti semitism started in seventy c.e. when the Romans destroyed the temple in jerusalem because the Jews refused to worship their gods (Bergen). The destruction of the temple was one of the first times in history people took action against the Jews and tried to harm them. The Jewish people were viewed as the others because of their religion and were punished for it. The romans did not stop at destroying the temple, the Jewish people were blamed for the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, even when crucifixion was a roman form of execution (Bergen). The blame of killing Jesus caused many Christians to hate the Jews, and give the Christians and legitimate reason to discriminate. Blaming Jews for events that were not in their control is a pattern seen thru history. The Jews were also blamed for the black death in 1348, even when their was no evidence that the Jews caused a plague (Bergen). The build up of hate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Drugs In Developing Countries Developed countries In developed countries the technology and doctors are good enough to produce and prescribe drugs to the right people and are able to treat everyone affected, weheras in LED countries some people will be treated whilst others won t due to there not being enough resource to treat everyone. Less economically developed countries Multiple sclerosis is a serious condition that affects the brain and the spinal cord. However, in different locations this disease will have different effects; in less economically developed countries the condition would be harder to deal with. This could be due to them not having the right equipment to manufacture cures so they would have to seek help from elsewhere. These countries are not as technologically advanced as places like the US and the UK, so they don t have the means to produce the medicine. Populations This disease is not really life threatening/ not fatal so the population size will not really be affected. Although in less economically developed countries those families with a person that is suffering from multiple sclerosis will find it hard to care for him/her as they will require more attention. Economy As there is no cure for multiple sclerosis as of now scientists will always be testing new drugs to find a cure. This will obviously have an affect on the economy as drug trials require a lot of money in order to be carried; drug test will only really be carried out in the more developed countries as ... • 5. Analysis Of The Poem The Thou Wilt Despatch Me Thomas Weelkes (c 1576 1623) was an Organist and a composer. He studied music at Oxford, and eventually secured positions as an organist at Winchester College then Chichester Cathedral as a choirmaster. Weelkes was a daring composer, using many dissonances amongst five voices and varying rhythms tremendously. Nevertheless, he garnered significant success during his time and wrote some of the best English madrigals. One of his most known pieces, O Care, thou wilt despatch me is an interesting literary work as it has numerous contrasting lines. The primary lines express a melancholic mood, but is juxtaposed with the gleeful phrase Fa la la . Weelkes emulates this the poem s tone through the use of word painting throughout the music. O ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first is evident in m. 3, when the bass, tenor, and alto sing Care , and a c seventh diminished chord is sung. It then breaks off, and is resolved into a B major chord. Nevertheless, dissonance is portrayed in this word again when the soprano joins in at m. 7 and an augmented c triad is sung. This is significant in delineating the sadness of the piece. This first section continues with this technique, oscillating between dissonance and consonance. A highly consonant area is in the following section starting at m. 15, rightfully expressing the joy that music can bring. In m. 23, there is a dissonance for a one beat duration before the piece returns to the melancholic text. A dissonance is heard again in a c diminished chord between the top three parts in m. 26 in the word deadly , bringing back the text s tension. The dissonances become less prevalent as the piece moves into the next section discussing happiness. Properly, the first part ends on a major chord, providing an uplifting end and supporting the triumphant mood the text brings. The beginning of the piece, mm1 14, has longer rhythms in which notes mainly fluctuate between half note or whole note values. The only occurrence of textual and rhythmic alignment is in mm 4 5 between the bass and alto in the word despatch . So not only do these long notes emphasize the melancholic mood of the text, but so does the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Sun Also Rises Robert Cohn Analysis Robert Cohn s interaction with Brett and the expatriates, bullfighting and gender conventions, leads to a moral destruction of his character and mimics the timeline of the Lost Generation and its encounter with traditions. The Sun Also Rises is introduced by the narrative of Cohn s life; his history at Princeton includes anti Semitism and a middleweight boxing championship title. He excelled at athletics to counteract the persecution he faced as a Jew, becoming a symbol of traditional masculinity. Robert s use of masculinity as a shield relates to the way the Lost Generation aspires to fulfill gender roles to deflect from their position in society as outcasts. Cohn also wasn t a soldier in the Great War, and so he emulates the lifestyle of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cohn is initially nauseated by the graphic sport, but then later pretends to be disinterested in it, in order to seem tougher. Bullfighting in The Sun Also Rises represents passion and sexuality, and a freedom of expression and individualism. So, Cohn s rejection of this shows the disconnect of the Lost Generation and these values. The bullfights also inspire the rebirth of masculinity in Cohn, and the need for gender role fulfillment. Before, Cohn was extremely passive in confrontations, and never used his boxing skills. For example, when Frances was berating him after their relationship ended, Cohn was unresponsive and just absorbed her comments. But, after the bull show, Cohn s amplified masculinity leads to a display of intense violence. Cohn is still obsessed with Brett and demands the other to tell him where she is. When they don t he fights Mike, knocks out Jakes, and almost kills Romero. Cohn s attacks are his attempt to control masculinity, but it only results in a damaged relationship with his expatriate friends. Cohn and his morals are destroyed when his outdated romanticism interacts with the modern times through his relationship with Brett. This also symbolizes the rift between the Lost Generation and the masculine conventions of the time. Cohn almost killed Romero, but he had a supernatural resistance to the beatings of the 20th century traditions. Romero, the matador, is another symbol ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Case Study Of Bain Company 1 Introduction The global consulting industry has generated $240 billion revenues in 2015 and as such represents one of the largest markets within the professional services industry (Consultancy.uk, n.d.). Even if strategy consulting constitutes solely 12% market share (i.e., $28.8 billion) it is the most prestigious sector (Consultancy.uk, n.d.). While other sectors of the consulting industry can be delineated rather easily, strategy consulting occupies a special position. Companies of that sector not solely provide strategy consulting services, but consulting services of other sectors alike, however from a purely strategic point of view. While the former constitutes the functional positioning of its organizational units, the latter describes a pattern of shared basic assumptions that was learned by a group as it solved its problems of external adaptation and internal integration, that has worked well enough to be considered valid and, therefore, to be taught to new members as the correct way to perceive, think, and feel in relation to those problems (Schein, 2004, p. 17). Due to the characteristics of the business model of strategy consulting, Bain Company s organizational structure differs significantly from other industries. Although there is a global, albeit confidential, organizational structure, Bain Company is primarily structured by office whose organizational units are exhibited in Figure 1. Directed by Office Management, the organizational structure on office level is divided into two main pillars: Consulting Staff and Consulting Support Services (Bain Company Inc., n.d. l). While consulting employees are generally not split across the various consulting services (see Chapter 2.3.1), the particular dynamics of private equity consulting require a temporary separation of those selected consulting employees. Furthermore, although Executive/Manager Assistants constitute a consulting support service, the daily interaction with their assigned managers, principals, and partners (the latter two represent executive organizational levels) creates a strong link between these organizational ... Child Trafficking Is A Universal Issue According to the Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons, Especially Women and Children (2000), child trafficking is the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harbouring or receipt of children for the purpose of exploitation. It is a violation of their rights, their well being and denies them the opportunity to reach their full potential. Cathy Paris once said, Truthfully, human trafficking is just a polite way to say modern day slavery. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to the World Bank report Ghana has a population of approximately 25.90 million and GDP of 47.93 billion dollars in 2013(Worldbank.org, 2014). That goes to say that there should be enough resources to be able to implement full measures to invest in education and job creation so as to alleviate poverty in the country. For most non Western countries, the reasons why most of these important issues are overlooked is because of systemic corruption. Corruption is the only logic answer that can explain the neglect of this phenomenon. Tragically, the legislature of Ghana and in addition other African nations permits and supports these misbehaviors. Degenerate practices are sought after for own self increase. Thus the reasons explicable for the growth of Child trafficking in Ghana are neglect by the government, the fear of the cost to be incurred by the government if child trafficking is to be tackled and finally the absence of an effective the rule of law in Ghana. Corruption is ultimately the only logic reason why all the factors mentioned above would thrive. Since the economy of Ghana is steadily growing, why is this prevalent in the rural areas? Through analysis of the topic of Child Trafficking in Ghana I argue that even though it is not yet a widespread issue, as we know corruption to erode, in years to come if measures are not put into place, it will become a nationwide calamity. It is also known as the investment theory or random walk theory (Malkiel, Winter, 2003), (Clarke, Jandik, Mandelker, 2001) it gives the clear idea about elements on which bases the price change in the security market and how it brings the changes in the market. If the new prices adapt quickly and on average without prejudice, then the market is called efficient market . The reality of an efficient market is that, there is an intense competition between the investors to achieve profit when the new information comes in the market. • 12. March To The Sea Essay In March, 1864, Lincoln made Grant the commander in chief of Union forces, with the rank of Lieutenant General. Grants strategy of Total War was to advance on the enemy from more than one front. He believed that continual pressure on all fronts would prevent Confederate forces from reinforcing each other. In the east, Grant s plan was to whittle down the manpower of the Army of Northern Virginia by staging an unrelenting attack. After half a dozen epic battles, Grant s army besieged the town of Petersburg, pinning Lee s forced down. Simultaneously, in the west General William T. Sherman s troops were marching to Atlanta. The seized and burned the city, which was an essential railroad junction for the Confederates. This victory guaranteed Lincolns re election in 1864, ruining any Confederate hope of independence. Sherman s army then moved east in what is commonly referred to as the March to the Sea , burning and destroying Georgia as he went. His railroad men destroyed all of the rail lines that led back to Chattanooga, Tennessee, so as to deny a vital supply line to the Confederates. Abstract: Our experiment is designed to show the symbiotic relationship between the mycorrhizal fungus and spinach plant. We constructed a 2X2 table of live molasses and controlled groups. Our hypothesis is that the live molasses with mycorrhizae group will extend the plants root bodies and increase the total surface area of the plant. That being said, the fungus and the plant will have a symbiotic mutual relationship towards each other. Our predictions came out to be false. The controlled groups had a higher average in shoot length and wet mass, which indicates that the plant and fungus have a parasitic relationship towards each other. Introduction: ... The controlled groups had higher averages than the lived averages. Also, the class averages were similar to our data as well. For future experiments, the plants with mycorrhizae should be given more molasses, which will allow us to detect if the plant and fungus have a symbiotic relationship or not. There have been many studies that provide mycorrhizae aiding plants for nutrients, proper growth, and survival. However, there are experiments that will show outliers and proving that not all studies are correct, which basically demonstrates the field of biology. In biology, we constantly perform numerous experiments to validate our hypothesis. But, there are exceptions when our hypothesis comes out to be false, which always gives us room to modify our errors. • 14. Graphical User Interfaces Modern society heavily depends on the abilities of computers, Information Technology, and information processing. As such, since access to information occurs mainly through digital means and media, the way information is arranged and presented on the screen is crucial. Because of this need for fast access and easy arrangement arose, in the early 1980s, companies started to work on various graphical user interfaces (or GUI for short). Most dictionaries define a GUI as a way of arranging information on a computer screen that is easy to understand and use because it uses icons, menus and a mouse rather than only text. Before Graphical User Interfaces became a standard for giving commands and retrieving information, computers were controlled through the means of a text based interface. This meant that a person had to enter text commands in order to communicate with the computer, which meant that one had to know various commands that could be entered and specific, technologic jargon that for a normal person , not prominent in the art of computing was simply hard, or even impossible to comprehend and memorize. On top of that, the data was displayed on the screen was usually presented in form of a column of text, employing the aforementioned jargon and syntax of computer language . As a consequence, computers were rather reserved for enthusiasts and professionals than general public, which at that time didn t find them useful or attractive. When a user interface that focused on presenting information in a graphical way appeared, a revolution took place. Suddenly, a common person even one, that has never dealt with such a device before could approach a computer, and be actually able to perform operations on it, using a pointer device instead of typing complicated commands on a keyboard. • 15. Art Of War Movie Vs Book If you know the enemy and know yourself you need not fear the results of a hundred battles , stated Sun Tzu in his book The Art Of War. This quote ties greatly to the mindset of Ender Wiggin. Ender is confronted with an opponent who he cannot beat. All his life he has been the underdog, but smarter than all those around him and battle school gave him a chance to prove his worth. The intensity of Ender s Family life and his journey to defeat the buggers, is much more coherent in the movie than the book. Another difference would be the training process, in the movie the training was not long at all. We got an idea of how essential it was, then it went straight to the real battle. The last disparity and probably the most odd, was Peter not being in the movie much. In the book Peter had a very big role, and played a huge part in Ender s life. However, in the movie he showed up once and wasn t mentioned much after that. These discrepancies were what made these two places there own. The way the movie put the key ideas of the story together, made it much more understandable than the book. The Movie gave great visuals and puts you into the life of Ender by having him tell his own story. The book made Ender seem unreal and he was very hard to relate to. The Simon and Garfunkel sound track fit in very nicely to set the tone of the film and give the audience clues as to what the characters were feeling. Aside from the non diegetic sound the diegetic sound was also used very effectively to express character emotions, in particular Ben s emotions. Also it shows how Pony thinks Dally is a jerk, but he considers him family.Secondly, Characterization is when a character in the story or the narrator describes how a character acts or looks like. Pony describes Soda as handsome like the movie star kind. (Hinton 10). This part of characterization shows how soda could have say for example a movie star because most actors have to be handsome, but he stayed with his brothers to help them out. Pony also describes Darry as strong, confident, and too young to be running a family on his own if at all. (Hinton 10). The ridges and peaks would have been covered with low scrub and tussock. These changes have increased nutrient inputs above what would have occurred naturally. Over the weeks spent coming to class, I finally figured out what the course meant to me. This was a course that was devoted to me, to figure out who I am and what my beliefs are. Personally, the main thing that I have noticed about myself is that I am no longer searching for the words to say to other people when they ask about what I truly believe in. This course has taught me to be bold in what I believe in and to not be afraid to share it with others. I want to be able to continue to use my worldview in my life as a huge stepping stone into my future. Though my worldview may change over time, at this point in my life I am proud to understand what a worldview is and what mine is at the moment. While a worldview is difficult to define, especially when it comes to your own, figuring out who you are and who you are meant to be is something that is not found easily. Though I struggled to figure out my worldview, I believe that figuring out my spiritual gifts and my personality was something even harder. My first week here at Southeastern University was surreal, it was insane to think that I had actually come this far. The signing of the accords was followed by a formal peace treaty between Israel and Egypt in March of 1979. Both the Israeli and Egyptian took significant risks and while many parties seemed to favor the peace deal, there were still segments of the society which either were skeptical or disapproved. Most notably, a group of Arab leaders known as the Steadfastness Front attempted to oppose the deal and considered Sadat s actions as traitorous. Due to the Persian s vanity they decided to instead attack Alexander directly without razing the countryside and were defeated leading to Alexander gaining the foothold he needed in Asia. A likely scenario would put a seven day limit on the amount of rations the army carried with it in a temperate climate and a two day limit in desert regions where the army could not forage for additional food, water, and fodder. No matter how many pack animals an army used the maximum amount of rations that could be carried would be twenty five days due to the feed required by all of the animals. • 43. The Application Of Non Living Things Could Be Protected... Introduction: Non living things could be protected from pathogens by defence chemicals in the form of disinfectants which are applied thinly on the objects and surfaces. For living things, their defence from pathogens comes in the form of antibiotics and antiseptics, the former given intravenously or through oral administration and the latter applied on the skin whatever the indented purpose may be but does still meet the defence required if applied in the right doses(Lee et al). Pathogens on the surface are eliminated physically by disinfectants. The mode of operation comes in the form of chemicals, diluted or undiluted for cleaning and by heating; we have noticed this process used in the milk preservation through pasteurisation whereby milk is heated at a very high temperature to kill pathogens. The application of disinfectants varies widely in use for the different settings. For healthcare cleaning to control and keep out pathogens, ethanol is the number one choice used to disinfect and sanitise floors, operation surfaces and surfaces touched the most by people like doors and door closing aids. The liquid based disinfectant normally gets rid of bacteria if it is in the right dilutions or measurements. There are iodine and chlorine based disinfectants both targeting pathogens. The latter is generally used in water treatment and food hygiene and the former widely used for making surgical instruments to render them free from pathogens, thus sterilisation. Antimicrobial ...
