Essay about Mass Incarceration of African Americans
Until justice is blind to color, until education is unaware of race, until opportunity is unconcerned with
the color of men s skins, emancipation will be a proclamation but not a fact. (Lyndon Johnson). For
generations in the United Stated, ethnic minorities have been discriminated against and denied fair
opportunity and equal rights. In the beginning there was slavery, and thereafter came an era of racism
which directly impacted millions of minorities lives. This period called Jim Crow was the name of the
racial caste system up in till mid 1960s. Jim Crow was more than just a series of severe anti Black
laws, it became a way of life. Under Jim Crow, African Americans were positioned to the status of
second class citizens. What Jim Crow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Just like race is a social construct and exists only in our minds, with no biological evidence, so is the
assumption that most prisoners convicted of drug offense are African Americans. It is a myth that we
as a nation have moved beyond race, Racial caste is alive and well in America. Alexander, author of
The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness, explained how our treatment of
criminals has created a new racial caste system, and the only way to make change is by massive social
change and Civil Rights movement. The criminal laws often focus on psychoactive drugs used by the
minority populations. Minorities are disproportionately targeted, arrested, and punished for drug
offenses. For instance, Black, Latino, Native American, and many Asian were portrayed as violent,
traffickers of drugs and a danger to society. Surveillance was focused on communities of color, also
immigrants, the unemployed, the undereducated, and the homeless, who continue to be the main
targets of law enforcement efforts to fight the war on drugs. Although African Americans comprise
only 12.2 percent of the population and 13 percent of drug users, they make up 38 percent of those
arrested for drug offenses and 59 percent of those convicted of drug offenses causing critics to call the
war on drugs the New Jim Crow (drug policy). The drug

Essay about The Inadequacy of Paley s Argument from Design
The Inadequacy of the Argument from Design
William Paley s teleological argument (also known as the argument from design) is an attempt to
prove the existence of god. This argument succeeds in proving that while existence was created by an
aggregation of forces, to define these forces, as a conscious, rational, and ultimately godlike is
dubious. Although the conclusions are valid, the argument makes several logical errors. The
teleological argument relies on inductive reasoning, rendering the argument itself valid, but unsound.
The argument fails to apply its own line of reasoning to itself, resulting in infinite regression. Beyond
the scope of its logical flaws, the arguments content lacks accurate comparisons. The argument hinges
on a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although this type of argument is practical at predicting patterns of re occurring events, they are never
legitimately sound. Consider the sunrise. It has risen every day for thousands of years on end.
Therefore, it will rise tomorrow. Despite the odds of this happening being very high, there is not a one
hundred percent chance that it will. Furthermore, consider the existence of the universe itself.
Although the odds of life being created by a random amalgamation of forces are very low, the correct
combination for life to exist only has to occur once. From that point forward, evolution and a reaction
to external stimuli allows life to change naturally.
The argument also indulges in an infinite regression. It assumes that a transcendent god created the
entire universe. However, it fails to account for what created the god. As stated in the lecture slides, a
committee of lesser beings may have created the god, but that begs the question about who created the
committee. One could object to this idea and believe that god has always existed, transcending time
and reality itself. Once again, however, this logic is just as applicable to the universe. The universe is
as capable of existing forever as a god is.
William Paley further begs the question in stating that because of perceived complexities in an entity,
it must have been designed. This perceived relation between complexity and design is an inherently

Confucianism And The Conflicts Of The Han Dynasty Of...
The Han Dynasty of Ancient China was one of the most prominent and long lasting societies of the
time. However, they were not untouched by the ravages of the world, and despite their Confucius
roots, there was a war to be fought. The Salt and Iron debate is an example of how the Confucianism
of the time affected the strategy of the war. Should the government stick to their principles, or protect
their empire? When is the time to say enough is enough ?
In order to understand the debate, we must understand those who are arguing. The Scholars spent
years studying the word and policy of Confucius, then toured China spreading his ideas to every
household. The Confucius Scholars opposed the Salt and Iron policies of the Chinese government. ...

They asked why their people should have to suffer if it wasn t necessary. The bureaucrats were also
beginning to consider the possibility of fighting back, and to do so they would need soldier and costly
weaponry. Fighting back was becoming more attractive because of the severe cost of bribing the
Xiongnu, who were taking goods like gold, silk, and Princesses. There was a major loss happening,
and the only way to keep the country floating was through the monopolies. The bureaucrats try
explaining this to the Scholars, but are vehemently argued against because the trade is steeped in
greed.
In my opinion, the bureaucrats make a stronger case for the continuation of the Salt and Iron
monopolies. There must be an army, and walls to protect the country. If they aren t going to fight, like
the Scholars want, then there also needs to be money for bribes. If there is no money, there is no way
to protect the people of China. It is a situation where you have decided if your morals come before the
safety of those you care about. How far are you willing to go to protect your people? The Scholars
aren t willing to go all the way, and people will die because of it. Not everyone has the same beliefs,
so displaying them will not save you. The Scholars did not consider the real harm that comes to the
citizens when they cannot express themselves fully, not to mention the harm

Using Open Data For Business Choices
Helping Consumers It is safe to assume that the use of open data would effectively boost the strength
of businesses. (Manyika, Chui, Farrell, Van Kuiken, Groves, Almasi Doshi, 2013) And while this is
true, the McKinsey Global Institute makes the bold claim that open data benefits consumers even
more than businesses. (Manyika, Chui, Farrell, Van Kuiken, Groves, Almasi Doshi, 2013) They go on
to discuss the reasoning behind this, and it makes a lot of sense. While the data provided can be used
by providers to make effective business choices, the same data can also be presented to customers on a
platform that is not the company, giving them the chance to receive less biased information. This
allows them to make informed choices with their purchasing, whether it is choosing a different form
of the product they are seeking, or another brand or company all together. Improved Education
Choices The information provided by open data has the potential to increase the ability to make
informed choices when it comes to education and learning. (Park Shelton, 2012) The documented
highlighted provides many examples of how the information gained can be effectively used by schools
and individuals. It also highlights examples of the goals for the future of its growth. One of the
concepts that stood out was making students own data available to them in a form that allows them to
see where they are struggling, and subsequently tying that to data that shows how to improve in these

Utilitarianism In Little Women By Louisa May Alcott
Little Women
By:
Louisa May Alcott
A Victorian literature characteristic shown in Little Women is utilitarianism. This is shown throughout
the book as the four girls, Meg, Beth, Jo, and Amy were so kind and often tried to do things that make
others happy and don t expect anything in return. This characteristic is evident when Beth said I ll tell
you what we ll do, let s each get her (their dear mother) something for Christmas, and not get anything
for ourselves (6). In this scene, the four sisters, who get along beautifully, were sitting by the fire and
when they notice how worn out their mother s slippers were. Initially, they didn t get any gifts or
presents for Christmas since their father was away at war and they had to save money so they decided
to use a little of their hard earned money to each buy something for themselves. But after seeing the
condition of Marmee s slippers, they decide to use their own money to buy something nice for their
mother. This quote shows utilitarianism because the Beth, Meg, Jo, and Amy all give up their own
hard earned money to do something nice and considerate for someone else. Essentially, the four loving
sisters thought of doing something to make someone happy and put themselves aside for a while.
Another Victorian literature characteristic shown in this book is social class structure. This is evident
throughout the entire novel because Meg, Beth, Jo, Amy, and Marmee are all quite poor and face
many different issues

Rap Vs Country
What people really think Everyone would say Country is the purist of all music genres but if we take a
closer look at the lyrics of the popular songs, is it like rap in the long run. From Keith Pounds song
She wore a Red Dress which is all about a hunting down a girl and getting in a huge fight and killing
her. Most country songs have the darkest of meanings. Instead of criticizing them we tap our toes to
the beat of the music and it becomes the most listened to song on the radio. What is better for kids to
listen to rap or country? Rap is the most criticized music genre out there all because it has a bad
history with law enforcement and the public. Like the author says

Meiosis Development And Aging Chapter 3 Summary
Chapter Three: Meiosis, Development and Aging Supportive Structures Form When an embryo forms,
supportive structures develop that are crucial for proper growth. These structures support and protect
these developmental embryos. Some of these structures are the umbilical cord, amniotic sac, the
placenta, yolk sac, chorionic villi, and the allantois. During the third week of embryonic development
after conception, chorionic villi connect to the uterine wall, which provide maximum contact with
maternal blood. They sprout from chorion, are an essential element in pregnancy and a product of
conception. Branches of the umbilical arteries carry embryonic blood to the villi. Although the mother

Twins can be either monozygotic or dizygotic. Monozygotic or identical twins develop from one
zygote, which splits and forms two embryos. They are natural clones of each other and are genetically
identical. There are three types of monozygotic twins that can form, that depends on early
development in the fertilized ovum or embryo splits. The first type of monozygotic twins have
separate amnions and chorions. About one third of identical twins separate before the trophoblast
forms on the fifth day. The second type of identical twins that share one chorion and one amnion. This
type of split happens about one percent in monozygotic twins, because the tissue splits after these
structures are already developed. The third type of twins that are monozygotic, share a chorion and a
different amnion. This type of split occurs in about two thirds of identical twins. Identical twins occur
in about thirty percent of births in the world, although not all twins survive long enough to be born.
Dizygotic or fraternal twins occur when two sperm fertilize two separate eggs. This usually occurs
when two eggs are released from the ovaries and are fertilized. Dizygotic twins normally run in
females in the

Mozart And Beethoven s Musical Origins
Haydn began his musical career as a choirboy in Vienna up until the age of 17. Mozart and Beethoven
s musical origins are similar, both coming from families with musical backgrounds. Mozart s father
taught him and his sister before taking them to tour throughout Europe. Beethoven also studied with
his father before receiving his study abroad opportunity in Vienna in 1792. After serving as a choirboy,
Haydn found himself in need of a means to make a living. He was barely able to support himself as a
freelance musician. Haydn s first serious position occurred around 1757 when he became music
director for Count Morzin. It was also around this time that Haydn began to write some of his first
symphonies. Most of Haydn s earlier symphonies were three movement works (fast slow fast),
somewhat like the Italian opera overture. Other symphonies were four movement works arranged
much like a sonata de chiesa. In 1761, Haydn began working for the Esterházy princes, spending
nearly 30 years at the Esterházy court. He composed at every wish of the Esterházy princes; any work
they demanded. Haydn s duties included conducting, training, and supervising all musicians, and
maintaining instruments. He built an orchestra of 25 players His time at Eszterhaza really influenced
the success of his career; Haydn got to hear his work in excellent performances. Because Esterhaza
was so isolated, vsitors would often keep him in the loop about music events in other locations. Haydn

Music Industry And Its Influence On Modern Society
In the twenty first century, we have an abundant variety of music genres, old and new. Music has a
versatile role in modern society. Music serves just as many purposes as it possesses in genres. For
listeners, music is not simply an escape or form of entertainment; it is a source of inspiration and self
expression. Sometimes, this can be problematic and lead to false identities and music miscegenation.
The music industry has had a powerful influence on what listeners consume. In this process,
traditional black music genres have crossed over to the mainstream. This has been problematic in that
it gives listeners the sense that the music industry is fully integrated. In reality, the white dominated
music industry and labels are still using ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This forged an identity of cultural togetherness as time progressed, but in reality, this was just a new
form of cultural appropriation and subjugation. Despite the musical politics in regards to control,
black expression has voiced itself in the past century. The innovations of jazz and gospel music paved
the way for soul, funk, disco, and rhythm blues and then expanded that pathway for rap and hip hop in
the later half of the century. Various innovations such as 12 bar blues and beat matching can be
attributed to African American culture. One genre of music that emerged from African American roots
was disco. Although disco expanded and became popularized in mainstream culture, disco began as an
expression of black and Latino power. Disco possesses elements of Afro Cuban salsa as well as
Jamaican dub, reggae, and ska. Disco served as a versatile cultural tool for not only ethnic minorities
but also gay rights activism, prior to its adoption by white audiences and artists. There was backlash
by white audiences and rock musicians towards black disco artist heard on the radio and this lead to
the coined phrase, disco sucks. Disco went on to die by the eve of the eighties, but elements of groove
and fast paced beats are still prevalent in today s popular music. Many of the R B and rock artists who
conformed to disco during its popularity returned to their authentic identity

Lab Report Of Caffeine
Introduction
The process Sublimation is a method used to disconnect a natural product from different undesired
compounds and after that it is purified by the change of state from solid to vapor. The majority
substances, under typical states claiming climate pressure, progress its stage with a temperature rise
from solid to liquid and to gas. Meantime other compounds, like iodine and carbon dioxide
experiences sublimation at this pressure. By bringing down the temperature and pressure of a system,
we can influence change in crude caffeine. Crude caffeine is extracted from tea or coffee, our
experiment was on tea. We got 9.6g of crude caffeine and it contained some purities. It became crude
due to the lower boiling point of pure caffeine than the impurities. Therefore, pure caffeine went
through the direct change of state before the impurities. We separated and collected the caffeine from
impurities by condensing it in a closed area. To produce pure caffeine this process is used by
commercial industries in a large number of scale, but for our laboratory purposes, we performed in a
small filter flask, a rubber hose to connect to the flask and the vacuum. A conical centrifuge which
worked as glass cold finger and it was fitted into the flask with a pluro stopper.

What s Wrong With Gay Marriage Summary
I do. These simply words have such a concise, yet profound message. Recently homosexual marriage
has been a constantly debated issue. In What s Wrong with Gay Marriage? Katha Pollitt defends the
controversial decision with logic and reason. On the other hand, author Charles Colson writes in Gay
Marriage : Societal Suicide that the very acceptance of same sex marriage is the beginning of the end
of traditional American society. While the essays have contrasting views, both authors relay their
messages eloquently and stir thought provoking discussions over one of the most decisive issues in
modern America.
Pollitt uses a series of analogies to convey that there is no substantial issue with permitting same sex
marriage. Furthermore, the comparisons she presents strengthen her argument and defend against
possible counter arguments. She attacks the notion of preventing homosexual marriage on the grounds
of procreation and claims that the very idea is impractical. The law allows married couples to use birth
control, to get sterilized, to be celibate (Pollitt 530). If marriages do not have to be based on ability to

The Effects Of Premarital Sex On Children And Young Adults
Innocence Lost When God created man and woman, his sole purpose was for them to be fruitful and

unwanted pregnancies, sexually transmitted diseases and loss of innocence. In 1275, England
established the age of consent to be 12 to prevent older men from ravishing the young maidens to
ensure their chastity remained undamaged until marriage ( Age of Consent ). Although the age of

The Anzio Breakout Essay
January 22, 1944 the sun is shining, and there is quite wind blowing across the beach of Anzio. In the

bloodiest fighting of the war in the next four months. Anzio was originally supposed to be a
distraction that Sir Alexander could use to breach the Gustav line. However, after a failure to
immediately push towards Rome the allies would be trapped in trench warfare and would be forced to
breakout of Anzio. This was, simply enough, called the Anzio Breakout. The escape from Anzio was

they met some heavy resistance on the way to Cisterna and Littoria, that eventually halted their

The Development Of Engineers Without Borders
1.0 INTRODUCTION
Engineers without Borders aims to provide those living in poverty a higher standard of living through
initiatives specifically engineered for their regions. One such project designed by Engineers without
Borders is the Bambui initiative. Bambui, a village located in the North West Region of Central Africa
s Cameroon contains a small portion of Cameroon s total population of 22.25 million people. Bambui,
with a population of 50,000 people and its poor standard of living proves to be an obstacle. Due to the
lack of infrastructure and urban planning of the markets which provide the village with much needed
income, Engineers without Borders aims to improve the area by addressing these current problems
with solutions.
2.0 PROBLEM DEFINITION
The market of Bambui is one of the largest and most important aspects of the region, providing a
source of income to the local community as well as the surrounding population who sell clothes, shoes
and raw foods as well as food stalls and restaurants. The pollution identified throughout the markets
comes mainly from the inability for them to dispose of waste properly due to lack of transportation in
and out of the market, and also the sprawl of stalls. The accessibility of owners and locals through the
market comes as a struggle and therefore require a plan in which would assist owners to receive their
transported goods and also dispose of waste that was not sold throughout the day.
The pollution affects both the

Use Caution when Accommodating Scripture with Current Scientific Theory (Word Count:229)
In writing on the 24 hour view of Creation in The Genesis Debate, J. Ligon Duncan III and David W.
Hall make the excellent point that we should always be cautious when attempting to harmonize
Scripture with the latest scientific theories. They write, we should be wary of those who accommodate
Scripture to current scientific theory, because he who marries the spirit of the age will be a widower in
the next. This is important to keep in mind, regardless of the issue, or your position on it. If we are too
quick to interpret Scripture based on what the scientific community is currently espousing, we will
seem foolish should that theory be later disproven.

Archer point something out which is commonly overlooked regarding the possibility of death prior to
the Fall. Young earth creationists commonly advocate that the sin of Adam brought about animal
death, and prior to the Fall there was no death whatsoever (with the possible exclusion of insect or
plant death). Much of this position is based on God s proclamation that the creation He had made was
very good. They then use this to support the idea of a young earth. Ross and Archer explain why this
fails:
Many Christians seem to forget that Adam and Eve were not the first creatures to sin. According to
Scripture, Satan committed the first sin. When Satan sinned, he brought about his own spiritual death
and the spiritual death of all the angels who joined him in his rebellion against God. Through Adam

though the NIBRS had more details, and came as a way to solve the problems that the UCR had, the
NIBRS still has its fair share of problems leading us to be cautious about this method. One of the first
problems that this system has to do with the procedures that captures it, and this leads to why we must
be cautious about this methods. The procedure involves the crime to be initially reported to the police.
This beginning procedure already has a problem, and according to James, the problem is, the NIBRS

that occur are known to the police (2). The procedure that is used in NIBRS to get the number of

For example law enforcement may interpret and process a crime like a burglary as a crime of
trespassing, so this leads inaccuracy. James gives a good example of this, For example, if a local law
enforcement agency does not closely follow UCR or NIBRS definitions, the agency might classify an
assault against a woman as an attempted rape, or a trespass as a burglary (22). Many times local
enforcement agencies do not follow the definitions of the NIBRS in the interpretation of crime, and
this leads to crime rates in different categories to be skewed. Another problem with the NIBRS is the
organization (FBI) that interprets crimes does not include many types of crimes, and these crimes are
many times white collar crimes. According to James, the NIBRS most likely undercounts corporate
and occupational crimes (22). The next time of crime measurement has many problems as well, and

Implementation Of A Market Testing
Introduction Businesses over the years have learned from their mistakes, and make the necessary
adjustments within their organizations to eliminate the issues and prevent them from occurring again.
By conducting market testing, manufactures can collect input from the end user, then analyze the
information to determine the best location to place their products for purchase. The various demands
received by manufactures can be mind boggling and without proper handling it can lead to
devastation. Daily, manufactures deal with internal demands from their employees; from adjusting
work schedules to allow for vacations, to better healthcare insurance, or higher wages. Moreover,
companies receive demands from their distributors, requesting an increase in product production to
meet the demand from the retailers. Along with increase in production, there is demands for
transportation, which all of these demands affect the manufacture s bottom line and without proper
planning and budgeting, these demands may lead the manufacture out of business. Product distribution
is critical and when the product is not available it affects more than just the manufacture.
Understanding the direct and indirect approach for distributing a product along with choosing either
an extensive, intensive, or exclusive distribution channel will allow the product to reach the
distributor, retailer, and consumer all while making everyone in the supply channel happy. Question 1

Confidentiality In A Therapeutic Relationship
Confidentiality in a therapeutic relationship can be defined as any communication, diagnosis, or
treatment between a patient and a mental health professional. Confidentiality and trust are critical
components of a good therapeutic relationship therefore, it is imperative that mental health
professionals thoroughly explain the meaning of confidentiality and disclosure clauses to their
potential clients.
Mental health professionals are often faced with the decision of having to breach confidentiality.
Unfortunately, they sometimes struggle making this decision because they know breaking
confidentiality can be detrimental to a therapeutic relationship. In addition, it may come with ethical
and legal ramifications. Therefore it is highly recommended that mental professionals seek
consultation or legal advice before disclosing clients information.
According to Texas State and Health Code, §611.002, a mental health professional mental health
professional must break confidentiality and disclosure when a client is believed to be a danger to
themselves or someone else, if child abuse or neglect is suspected the mental health professional must
report within 48 hours of first suspicion. According to the Texas Family Code, abuse is defined very
broadly in order to include the following; mental, emotional, sexual, physical, failure to provide
adequate shelter, food, or necessities.

Staffing Strategies In reviewing Tanglewood case study 1, we evaluate all aspects of the company in

When hiring quickly it will limit the area, a person can go into by only having a need positions. This
can create the fact of someone being over qualified for a position but having to put them in that
position due to not enough positions available that the individual is qualified for. It would be best for
Tanglewood to focus more on acquiring talent internal vs. externally because most of the people they
hire would be the type to be looking for career progression for a long term career and they would not
have as much of a need to hire a large amount of workers at one time or the need to create new
specific entry level types of jobs. A core or flexible workforce is both needed for Tanglewood because
of the size of the company. A core workforce to maintain the integrity of the store year round and

The Hunger Games And The Lottery
Mark Pedelty said: Ritual is, therefore, a primary site of contact between self and society, a place
where our individual selves are transformed into collective selves. As Pedelty suggests, rituals create a
loss of individualism and an increase in conformity. Pedelty s idea is clearly displayed with the
fictional rituals in Suzanne Collins The Hunger Games and Shirley Jackson s The Lottery. These two
stories rituals are based on chance and are basically death sentences; in contrast, the rituals are viewed
differently and were created for different reasons. The ritual in The Lottery has several similarities to
the ritual in The Hunger Games. One considerable similarity was that both rituals relied purely on
chance. In The Lottery, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Digital printing and 3D printing. It will go deeper into how each process works and how we get the

First, Screen printing is used to print on materials such as paper, fabric glass and even hard surfaces
such as metal most people use screen printing for signs labels and decals such as stamps (Printing

with than screen printing, because the next method does all the printing for you with the push of a

The second method is digital printing which is done by an ink jet printer or Xerography. When an
image is printed by an ink jet printer, it uses small drops of ink. They can print on paper, doors and
plastic materials. Digital printing is mostly used for promotional material such as posters, signs,
brochures and booklets. It is also used for short running printing such as books for photography and
digital based files such as PDF. Before you print you must format the document so you can have the
correct color and size of the graphic. This make the printing job much easier on you as graphic
designer. You should be calibrating your computer to match print color settings. The computer s colors
are vastly different from the printer settings so it is preferred that you print in CMYK colors. The ink

came to the spotlight when their older sister, Kim Kardashian, released a sex tape that went pretty
viral. Since then they have remained in the public eye. Whether it s for good publicity or bad. One of
the sisters, Kendall Jenner, has been making quite a commotion with people everywhere. In spring
2017, Pepsi released a commercial with Kendall Jenner staring in it that caused quite a controversy.
Pepsi is taking a lot of heat about this ad. Although the young star was the main focus of this
controversy, Pepsi is to blame. In the commercial we see Kendall Jenner in a middle of a photo shoot
during an unknown protest. It is unclear what the protesters are marching for but we see signs and
symbols with peace and love. We can see that Pepsi used pathos to try and get there point across. They
used music and the group of protesters working together marching in what they believe in, to appeal to
the emotional side of their audience. Jenner stops her photoshoot after a young man courage her to

character in Shakespeare s play, Macbeth. She is, in fact, the point on which the action pivots: without
her there is no play. The purpose of this essay is to describe Lady Macbeth s role in the play and
discuss why this makes her the most fascinating character. Her evil doings are the main reasons why
she dominates the plot so greatly. These include the following: considers Macbeth to be a wimp not

Lady Macbeth tells her husband that Is too full of the human kindness which means she considers him
to be a wimp and that she ll have to do it all herself. Lady Macbeth s actions shape the first two acts
which proves she is the point on which the action pivots. Lady Macbeth continues to convince and
persuade Macbeth into thinking her plan will pay off. Eventually Macbeth decides against the murder
of his king but Lady Macbeth shames him for not being able to murder, threatening to take away her
love from him if he does not. This threat shocks Macbeth into saying yes . Lady Macbeth outlines her
plan to kill King Duncan while asleep as a guest in their castle. Macbeth had the dagger in his hand
ready to kill the King but he just could not do it until the King started waking up, it was then he knew
he had no choice. He regrets his actions afterwards, But where fore could not I pronounce Amen ? / I
had most need of blessing, and Amen / Stuck in my throat which is proof that he never was willing to
kill the King but Lady Macbeth assures him a little water will wash away their guilt . Macbeth having
killed the King eventually kills several others to cover his tracks. This proves Lady Macbeth
transformed her husband by saying things such as Are you a man? She made him feel at fault so things

Emancipation Proclamation And The Fourteenth Amendment
Civil rights has been an important issue in American history, dating even before the signing of the
Declaration of Independence. In fact, it was one of the primary causes of the American Revolution, as
seen with the famous phrase no taxation without representation. The Emancipation Proclamation and
the Thirteenth Amendment further sparked a heated debate during the Reconstruction Era over the
civil protections of free blacks. These disputes led to additional legislation, such as the
implementation of the Fourteenth Amendment, to protect these citizens of the United States.

According to an analysis in the Chicago Kent Law Review, [Harlan] protested the Court s narrow
interpretation of the requirements of freedom under the Thirteenth Amendment. Since the institution
of slavery rested upon the inequality of those held in bondage, their freedom necessarily involved
immunity from, and protection against, all discrimination against them, because of their race, in
respect of such civil rights as belong to freemen of other races. In other words, Justice Harlan subtly
implies that the other justices simply ignored the Thirteenth Amendment entirely, focusing instead on
the rights of whites protected under the Fourteenth Amendment. This implication evinces the
influence of judicial activism in the Supreme Court s decision. Civil rights in the United States have
definitely changed since the decision of the Civil Rights Cases of 1883. While the Court s decision
shows the overreaching opinion of the people during this time, it is also clear by Justice Harlan s
dissent that the opinions of the people were, even then, changing and progressing, focusing on equal

Essay on Border Gateway Protocol
The protocol I chose to write about is the Border Gateway Protocol because it is the main protocol
used to operate the internet and recommended protocol for Cisco design certifications. The BGP
protocol is an inter autonomous protocol; which means it is for connecting separate large networks,
such as a college network to a corporate network or the internet. Due to the large number of routes and
connection this protocol must manage; it uses very many features, or attributes, to achieve this. Cisco
defines these attributes as weight, local preference, multi exit discriminator, origin, AS_path, next hop,
and community. These attributes are used to discover networks and determine the best path to use for
sending packets to those networks. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first attribute we will look at is called the weight attribute. This is a Cisco proprietary attribute, so
it is not found with other vendors. This attribute simply assigns a weight value to any know routes on
an individual router. This value is not passed on to any other routers. Each router can have its own
independent weight values for any known routes. If two separate routes to the same network are
known, the one that has the highest assigned weight value will be the preferred route. The local
preference attribute is used to determine the best exit point for an autonomous system (AS). This value
is shared by all the routers in the AS to select the best interfaces and routers for reaching known
networks. Each known network may exit on any router in the AS, or all on one router in the AS. The
route is determined by which router has the highest local preference number for a given network. The
multi exit discriminator attribute is kind of the opposite of the local preference. This attribute is sent to
a connected AS that is running BGP to suggest the best route in the AS advertising the MED. This is
just a suggestion, as the receiving AS can determine its own path by other means. The origin attribute
is just that, a way for a router to know how it learned of a path to a network. There are three different
ways to learn about a path; IGP, EGP, and incomplete. The first is internal

The Creation Of Western Civilization
From its beginnings at the foundation of ancient Greece, our present humanity has evolved itself to be
focused on the value of each individual. The contradiction in terms of Western civilization, however,
was also was made obvious right from the start. The Greek s attention on individuals arose from a
slavery based society. The focus on individual rights created both a democratic system and an increase
in learning, as well as scientific revolutions that would remain unique until the Renaissance. Adding
onto the Greek groundwork, the Romans furthered another significant keystone of Western
civilization; the establishment of laws. Through the collapse of Rome and increasing Germanic
barbarian invasions, the foundations of Western civilization had fundamentally vanished. They were
not put back into effect until the Italian Renaissance inspired massive attention to the traditional texts.
As a result, a change in European thinking switched from The Almighty back to the individual.
Starting chiefly as a theocratic and nationalist movement, the Reformation in Germany provided an
assortment of nationwide securities. It prohibited the Roman Church from restricting academic
discussion in northern Europe. New translations of the Bible also resulted in the expansion of vulgar
languages which encouraged literacy and education. The Enlightenment brought us even closer to
achieving westernized democracy, inquiring deeper into both religion and tyranny. Many French

What Does It Mean To Be A Feminism Essay
The F Word
What does it mean to be a feminist. The meaning has taken many twists and turns throughout the
various decades it s been through. Society has transposed, humiliated and belittled the true purpose of
the word Feminism. Often, when we hear the word feminist, most people associate it with the
stereotypical image of an angry protester running in her bra down the streets. Or perhaps the image of
an Ugly philosopher who is angry for not receiving male attention. Feminism still exists because
women still do not have equal rights to men, in New Zealand or globally. I would like to re establish
the rightful definition of Feminism.
When a vote was released in the united states regarding gender equality among women, 41% voted

increased by 8.6% since 2012, meanwhile average household incomes have only increased by 2.23%.
The following tuition increase trend is becoming a serious threat to American society, and must be
slowed down. At this rate families will soon have no hope of ever paying for college debt. Many
people want to blame the government to contributing greatly to the recent increase in tuition by saying
there used to be a plethora of public funding opportunities for colleges, but that they were then all
slashed. This is not even close to the reality of the situation. While people did use to be able to pay
tuition out of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though this may seem like a good thing, this too has its own cons. With the rising amount of
money given out in financial aid colleges are making less net revenue which is making it hard to fund
better educational avenues for students. Colleges are also giving some students in need a discounted
price for tuition, and it has increased to almost 48.6% of freshman who receive these discounts (Redd,
Upper Limits). This leads to even more struggle for colleges to meet demands. Small and mid size
colleges are having the most difficult time with this trend, their net revenue is having trouble
increasing proportionally to their student increase. They should be increasing their revenue by about
2% every year (Redd, Upper

Frankenstein And Frankenstein Essay
Several fields have studied the relationship between creator and creation. The most significant aspect
of this research considers the difference between nature and nurture. Sociologists, psychologists,
scientists, and other professionals have tried to pin down the exact distinctions between these two
types of upbringings. In literature, the same questions have been asked and studied using fictional
characters, most famously in John Milton s Paradise Lost, in 1667, and Mary Shelley s Frankenstein,
in 1818. The complexity of the characters in these texts creates the theme of nature versus nurture
before they diverge and arrive at differing conclusions.
Many critics arose over the years to contest the main character of Milton s epic. Shelley, ... Show more

Due to his mistakes in creating his character of God, Shelley personified Victor Frankenstein as a cold
creator to provide a commentary on the harshness of Milton s God.
Some have called Milton s God evil and unloving such as Richard Bentley (Read). This criticism can
be attributed to the fact that Milton was cautious about creating a so called round character of God;
this caution caused this flat creator that has no real stake in creation. When the first words that God
speaks in Paradise Lost mock the fallen angels: Only begotten Son, seest thou what rage/ Transports
our adversary (Milton III . 80 ) it only confirms the fate that this character cannot be the hero of the
story. By doing this Milton created this malicious creator which inspired the cruelty that can clearly be
seen in Victor Frankenstein in terms of both his family and his creation. The use of cruelty in creators,
whether intentional or not determines the environment in which their creation lives.
Shelley draws inspiration from Milton s Paradise Lost not only for the vicious creator in the stories but
also the creations. In Milton s epic, God creates the father of humankind and the father of all demons.
The characterization of Frankenstein s monster highlights points of both Adam and Satan; even the
monster recognizes this within Shelley s work when he encounters Milton s

1. Reread what chapter two has to say about the importance of history and context to understanding
poetry. Keeping these two aspects in mind, write a paragraph in which you explain what the following
quotations from the poem refer to:
In order to properly understand certain poems, one needs to know the context in which certain things
are said and we need to know about the history about certain things that occur in the poem. In this
particular poem In the shadow of Signal Hill , it is important to know that the poem is about the
apartheid era in South Africa, therefore certain lines places this into context. In line 7: listen to the
lamentations of slaves , the reader can interpret that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Repetition is used in order to place an emphasis on what is being repeated. These lines symbolize and
create a very cold and very unpleasant atmosphere in the poem. The poet could have chosen to repeat
these lines because it would emphasize the fact that the apartheid era was a very cold and harsh time
for those who were being oppressed. This is very effective on the meaning of the poem as it constantly
reminds the reader to sympathize with those who were affected and it allows the readers emotions to

Essay On Aussie Air Negotiations
Introduction
The Aussie Air negotiations were a series of five party talks between Down Under Air (DUA), the
Aussie Air Shareholders (AAS), Aussie Air Management, the Federal Government and the Aussie Air
Workers Unions. I was the united unions spokesperson for the negotiations, representing their interests
in order of priority: job security, current management s contract length and stock prices. This paper
will review the contents of the negotiations, relating them to key ideas and concepts gleaned from
research and lectures through thorough reflection and critical analysis. It will discuss the success of
the negotiations, the tactics used to claim value, the methodology of creating value, and the revision of
strategies with dynamic relationships as new information emerged. It will also examine the politics of
coalitions formed and the observations of cognitive biases and emotions.
The Negotiations Success
To comprehensively evaluate the success of the negotiations, there has to be a panoramic range of
measures to ensure favourable and/or fair outcomes on all fronts. ACME Engineering crafted
measures to expand the definition of success, some of which I used to discover successes and failures
in different aspects of the negotiations (Ertel 1999, pp. 60 62).

This complacency, on top of the suspicion I felt towards the out group, caused my irrational frustration
with DUA for not complying with my demand of 100% job security, which they reciprocated (Cialdini

influence DUA during individual negotiations. These negative emotions constrained myself to better
relations with the out group, and created a gap within the coalition that obviated my completely

ambulatory visits and an incident rate of 24.6 per 1000 persons (Khawcharoenporn Tice, 2010).
Cellulitis is potentially serious and is one of the common reasons people go to the emergency room
and require admission to the hospital (Aboltins, 2015). The purpose of this review is to explore the
current treatment of cellulitis. This paper will address: different medication treatments, mode of
administration, failure factors, variability in prescribing, home therapy and preventing recurrence of

With drug resistance on the rise it is important to continue to search for new way to treat gram postive
pathogens. Mason, et al., (2014), focused on assessing the efficacy and safety of intravenous to oral

Sept. 28, 2011 to January 10, 2013 in Argentina, Australia, Germany, New Zealand, Poland, Russia,
South Africa, Spain, and the USA. Patients had to at least 12 years old, suspected or confirmed gram

tedizolid 200mg for 6 days and 334 taking linezolide 600mg twice a day for 10 days. Both treatment

Hamlet Nihilist Analysis
To be or not to be a nihilist
In 1927, Martin Heidegger observed that nihilism was already the normal state of man that the
disbelief in life having objective meaning is the most prevalent. If Heidegger is correct, then our
current era is one in which Hamlet would fit in well.. Critics have proposed that Hamlet is too much of
a refined intellectual to commit a callous act such a murder, a more plausible claim is his crises of
inaction not caused merely by a quirk of character or spirituality, it is in fact caused by a lack of spirit:
Hamlet is not religious, he is a nihilist. Through his deep pessimism, incessant brooding, and radical
skepticism, Hamlet shows his colors as a nihilist who believes in nothing and has no purpose. When
Hamlet admits that there is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so (Shakespeare, II. ii.
254 55), Hamlet displays his lack of belief in even fundamental concepts such as good and evil; he
dismisses them as mere constructs of the mind. Hamlet should be devoutly religious as a man in
Christian Denmark. However, since he has a self professed lack of belief in good and evil, and
therefore, religion and God, action is not possible because Action requires the veils of illusion.
(Nietzsche 35).
Hamlets nihilistic bent rises to the fore when conversing with Rosencrantz and gentle Guildenstern.
During their first discussion they produce a malignant energy that leads them to deep cynicism and a
demeaning of all good and pure ideas

Native American Indians North Of Mexico
The Lenape Indians are the natives of New Jersey and were around well before any of the explorers or
our ancestors came to the area. They had a society rich of culture, traditions, beliefs and customs.
They are one of the largest Indian tribes on the east coast, containing three primary divisions or clans.
Frederick Hodge (1907) worked for the Bureau of American Ethnology and has done extensive
research on the topic of Native Americans. Hodge compiled a detailed reference book called The
Handbook of American Indians North of Mexico, which gives detailed histories on many of the
American Indian tribes. According to Hodge, the Lenape or Delaware Indians were an Indian society

The Munsee clan or Wolf tribe are one of the three clans of the Lenape Indian tribe. They are often
called the people of stony country because of their geographical region. Their language is very
different in dialect compared to the other clans of the Lenape, which is why they are often regarded as
their own tribe at times. The Munsee are the farthest north on the Delaware river. They occupied the
headwater region of the Delaware river which represents northern New Jersey, Central New York and
Eastern Pennsylvania. Minisink is the main council village for the Munsee and is the barrier between
the Munsee and the Unalachtigo. Minisink is located in the Minisink Valley which is on the Delaware
river in northern New Jersey (which is now Sussex county) Eastern Pennsylvania, and southern New
York. New York (Hodge 1907). The second clan of the Lenape Indians was the Unami Tribe. Unami
roughly translates into the people down the river . They are often called the turkey tribe of the Lenape
Indians. They were based in central New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania. The tribe is closely related
to the Unalachtigo tribe in dialect and traditions. By the early seventeen hundreds, the Unalachtigo
tribe was completely dissolved into the Unami tribe. (Weslager 1987) The last clan of the Lenape
Indians is called the Unalachtigo clan or the turkey tribe. Unalachtigo roughly translates to the people
near the ocean . They are the southernmost tribe

Google and Yahoo have a calculation of the P/E but both are different being $12.22 and $11.96
respectively at this current point in time. The main reason for the current difference in P/E is the
discrepancy in earnings per share of $.10. To find historical P/E ratios for Target i have to do a google
search and it brought up a site call YCharts. For the year of 2016 they do not give you an average but
plotting a few point and finding an average I came up with about $12.84 for a ten year chart I would
have had to sign up for a free trial but 2016 looked about average compared to pre 2014 when the
stock was on a quick rise. Looking at a rough five year average of $17.97 the $11.92 is really low. In
other words the current P/E is on the low side which may indicate a time to buy. The Price earnings
ratio is our Fifth fundamental and while i could not find the earnings estimates on google, yahoo did
have them and they estimate by quarter giving the second quarter of 2017 a projection of $.91 which is
not their lowest prediction but is still fairly low. When we figure this into the last three quarters we
end up see in an estimated earnings per share of $4.63 which is similar to Google s current earning per
share. Using these number we see a small decrease in the price of the stock at $55.37 and this could be
a good sign if you are willing to wait to

Who Is Oskar Schindler A Hero
Standing in front of his people, the SchindlerJuden , Oskar Schindler gave a heartfelt farewell as a
Russian armada pushes towards them. A man who saved hundreds, Oskar Schindler, was a man of
business he was a man of money, but even men of money can have a change of heart. Schindler went
from enemy spy to savior and that s why to me he is an awe inspiring hero because he was seen as a
human he made many mistakes but in the end, he saved many Jewish people. Schindler was born April
28, 1908, in Zwittau, Moravia, Austria Hungary (now Svitavy, Czech Republic). His father s name
was Hans Schindler, he was a farm equipment manufacturer and Louisa Schindler was the
homemaker. Schindler home life was rough his father was a heavy drinker and a womanizer. ... Show

He preferred to take his chances with the approaching U.S. forces instead. A couple of days later, the
twelve hundred or so Schindlerjuden ( Shindler s Jews ) were freed by a lone Russian officer who rode
up to the factory on horseback.Schindler s life after the war was similar to that before the war, which
was marked by a string of failed business ventures, overspending, plenty of drinking, and love affairs.
In 1949, Schindler moved to Argentina and purchased a farm. By 1957, however, Schindler had gone
bankrupt and was relying on the charity of the Jewish organization B nai B rith to survive. Schindler
abandoned his wife and returned to West Germany. He started a cement business in Frankfurt,
Germany, but it failed in 1961. From then on, he lived mostly off funds provided by the
Schindlerjuden as well as a small pension. The same year Schindler lost his cement business, he was
invited to visit Israel for the first time. Many of his countrymen were angry with him for saving Jews
and testifying in court against Nazi war criminals. Every spring for the rest of his life, he returned to
Israel for several weeks to bask in the admiration of the Schindlerjuden and their offspring, whom he
regarded with great affection as his own family. Shortly after Schindler s fifty fourth birthday in 1962,
he was officially declared a Righteous Gentile (non Jew) and invited to plant a tree on the Avenue of
the Righteous leading up to Jerusalem s Yad Vashem Museum. Upon his death from heart and liver
problems in 1974, he was granted his request to be buried in Israel. About five hundred
Schindlerjuden attended his funeral and watched as his body was laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery
on Mount Zion in Jerusalem. Schindler s life was turned into a movie based off the book Schindler s

  • 2. Essay about Mass Incarceration of African Americans Until justice is blind to color, until education is unaware of race, until opportunity is unconcerned with the color of men s skins, emancipation will be a proclamation but not a fact. (Lyndon Johnson). For generations in the United Stated, ethnic minorities have been discriminated against and denied fair opportunity and equal rights. In the beginning there was slavery, and thereafter came an era of racism which directly impacted millions of minorities lives. This period called Jim Crow was the name of the racial caste system up in till mid 1960s. Jim Crow was more than just a series of severe anti Black laws, it became a way of life. Under Jim Crow, African Americans were positioned to the status of second class citizens. What Jim Crow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Just like race is a social construct and exists only in our minds, with no biological evidence, so is the assumption that most prisoners convicted of drug offense are African Americans. It is a myth that we as a nation have moved beyond race, Racial caste is alive and well in America. Alexander, author of The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness, explained how our treatment of criminals has created a new racial caste system, and the only way to make change is by massive social change and Civil Rights movement. The criminal laws often focus on psychoactive drugs used by the minority populations. Minorities are disproportionately targeted, arrested, and punished for drug offenses. For instance, Black, Latino, Native American, and many Asian were portrayed as violent, traffickers of drugs and a danger to society. Surveillance was focused on communities of color, also immigrants, the unemployed, the undereducated, and the homeless, who continue to be the main targets of law enforcement efforts to fight the war on drugs. Although African Americans comprise only 12.2 percent of the population and 13 percent of drug users, they make up 38 percent of those arrested for drug offenses and 59 percent of those convicted of drug offenses causing critics to call the war on drugs the New Jim Crow (drug policy). • 3. Essay about The Inadequacy of Paley s Argument from Design The Inadequacy of the Argument from Design William Paley s teleological argument (also known as the argument from design) is an attempt to prove the existence of god. This argument succeeds in proving that while existence was created by an aggregation of forces, to define these forces, as a conscious, rational, and ultimately godlike is dubious. Although the conclusions are valid, the argument makes several logical errors. The teleological argument relies on inductive reasoning, rendering the argument itself valid, but unsound. The argument fails to apply its own line of reasoning to itself, resulting in infinite regression. Beyond the scope of its logical flaws, the arguments content lacks accurate comparisons. The argument hinges on a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although this type of argument is practical at predicting patterns of re occurring events, they are never legitimately sound. Consider the sunrise. It has risen every day for thousands of years on end. Therefore, it will rise tomorrow. Despite the odds of this happening being very high, there is not a one hundred percent chance that it will. Furthermore, consider the existence of the universe itself. Although the odds of life being created by a random amalgamation of forces are very low, the correct combination for life to exist only has to occur once. From that point forward, evolution and a reaction to external stimuli allows life to change naturally. The argument also indulges in an infinite regression. It assumes that a transcendent god created the entire universe. However, it fails to account for what created the god. As stated in the lecture slides, a committee of lesser beings may have created the god, but that begs the question about who created the committee. One could object to this idea and believe that god has always existed, transcending time and reality itself. Once again, however, this logic is just as applicable to the universe. The universe is as capable of existing forever as a god is. William Paley further begs the question in stating that because of perceived complexities in an entity, it must have been designed. This perceived relation between complexity and design is an inherently ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Confucianism And The Conflicts Of The Han Dynasty Of... The Han Dynasty of Ancient China was one of the most prominent and long lasting societies of the time. However, they were not untouched by the ravages of the world, and despite their Confucius roots, there was a war to be fought. The Salt and Iron debate is an example of how the Confucianism of the time affected the strategy of the war. Should the government stick to their principles, or protect their empire? When is the time to say enough is enough ? In order to understand the debate, we must understand those who are arguing. The Scholars spent years studying the word and policy of Confucius, then toured China spreading his ideas to every household. The Confucius Scholars opposed the Salt and Iron policies of the Chinese government. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They asked why their people should have to suffer if it wasn t necessary. The bureaucrats were also beginning to consider the possibility of fighting back, and to do so they would need soldier and costly weaponry. Fighting back was becoming more attractive because of the severe cost of bribing the Xiongnu, who were taking goods like gold, silk, and Princesses. There was a major loss happening, and the only way to keep the country floating was through the monopolies. The bureaucrats try explaining this to the Scholars, but are vehemently argued against because the trade is steeped in greed. In my opinion, the bureaucrats make a stronger case for the continuation of the Salt and Iron monopolies. There must be an army, and walls to protect the country. If they aren t going to fight, like the Scholars want, then there also needs to be money for bribes. If there is no money, there is no way to protect the people of China. It is a situation where you have decided if your morals come before the safety of those you care about. How far are you willing to go to protect your people? The Scholars aren t willing to go all the way, and people will die because of it. Not everyone has the same beliefs, so displaying them will not save you. • 6. Using Open Data For Business Choices Helping Consumers It is safe to assume that the use of open data would effectively boost the strength of businesses. (Manyika, Chui, Farrell, Van Kuiken, Groves, Almasi Doshi, 2013) And while this is true, the McKinsey Global Institute makes the bold claim that open data benefits consumers even more than businesses. (Manyika, Chui, Farrell, Van Kuiken, Groves, Almasi Doshi, 2013) They go on to discuss the reasoning behind this, and it makes a lot of sense. While the data provided can be used by providers to make effective business choices, the same data can also be presented to customers on a platform that is not the company, giving them the chance to receive less biased information. This allows them to make informed choices with their purchasing, whether it is choosing a different form of the product they are seeking, or another brand or company all together. Improved Education Choices The information provided by open data has the potential to increase the ability to make informed choices when it comes to education and learning. (Park Shelton, 2012) The documented highlighted provides many examples of how the information gained can be effectively used by schools and individuals. It also highlights examples of the goals for the future of its growth. One of the concepts that stood out was making students own data available to them in a form that allows them to see where they are struggling, and subsequently tying that to data that shows how to improve in these ... • 7. Utilitarianism In Little Women By Louisa May Alcott Little Women By: Louisa May Alcott A Victorian literature characteristic shown in Little Women is utilitarianism. This is shown throughout the book as the four girls, Meg, Beth, Jo, and Amy were so kind and often tried to do things that make others happy and don t expect anything in return. This characteristic is evident when Beth said I ll tell you what we ll do, let s each get her (their dear mother) something for Christmas, and not get anything for ourselves (6). In this scene, the four sisters, who get along beautifully, were sitting by the fire and when they notice how worn out their mother s slippers were. Initially, they didn t get any gifts or presents for Christmas since their father was away at war and they had to save money so they decided to use a little of their hard earned money to each buy something for themselves. But after seeing the condition of Marmee s slippers, they decide to use their own money to buy something nice for their mother. This quote shows utilitarianism because the Beth, Meg, Jo, and Amy all give up their own hard earned money to do something nice and considerate for someone else. Essentially, the four loving sisters thought of doing something to make someone happy and put themselves aside for a while. Another Victorian literature characteristic shown in this book is social class structure. This is evident throughout the entire novel because Meg, Beth, Jo, Amy, and Marmee are all quite poor and face many different issues ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Meiosis Development And Aging Chapter 3 Summary Chapter Three: Meiosis, Development and Aging Supportive Structures Form When an embryo forms, supportive structures develop that are crucial for proper growth. These structures support and protect these developmental embryos. Some of these structures are the umbilical cord, amniotic sac, the placenta, yolk sac, chorionic villi, and the allantois. During the third week of embryonic development after conception, chorionic villi connect to the uterine wall, which provide maximum contact with maternal blood. They sprout from chorion, are an essential element in pregnancy and a product of conception. Branches of the umbilical arteries carry embryonic blood to the villi. The first type of monozygotic twins have separate amnions and chorions. About one third of identical twins separate before the trophoblast forms on the fifth day. • 10. Mozart And Beethoven s Musical Origins Haydn began his musical career as a choirboy in Vienna up until the age of 17. Mozart and Beethoven s musical origins are similar, both coming from families with musical backgrounds. Mozart s father taught him and his sister before taking them to tour throughout Europe. Beethoven also studied with his father before receiving his study abroad opportunity in Vienna in 1792. After serving as a choirboy, Haydn found himself in need of a means to make a living. He was barely able to support himself as a freelance musician. Haydn s first serious position occurred around 1757 when he became music director for Count Morzin. It was also around this time that Haydn began to write some of his first symphonies. Most of Haydn s earlier symphonies were three movement works (fast slow fast), somewhat like the Italian opera overture. Other symphonies were four movement works arranged much like a sonata de chiesa. In 1761, Haydn began working for the Esterházy princes, spending nearly 30 years at the Esterházy court. He composed at every wish of the Esterházy princes; any work they demanded. Haydn s duties included conducting, training, and supervising all musicians, and maintaining instruments. He built an orchestra of 25 players His time at Eszterhaza really influenced the success of his career; Haydn got to hear his work in excellent performances. Because Esterhaza was so isolated, vsitors would often keep him in the loop about music events in other locations. Haydn s compositions ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Music serves just as many purposes as it possesses in genres. For listeners, music is not simply an escape or form of entertainment; it is a source of inspiration and self expression. Sometimes, this can be problematic and lead to false identities and music miscegenation. The music industry has had a powerful influence on what listeners consume. Various innovations such as 12 bar blues and beat matching can be attributed to African American culture. One genre of music that emerged from African American roots was disco. Although disco expanded and became popularized in mainstream culture, disco began as an expression of black and Latino power. • 14. Lab Report Of Caffeine Introduction The process Sublimation is a method used to disconnect a natural product from different undesired compounds and after that it is purified by the change of state from solid to vapor. The majority substances, under typical states claiming climate pressure, progress its stage with a temperature rise from solid to liquid and to gas. Meantime other compounds, like iodine and carbon dioxide experiences sublimation at this pressure. By bringing down the temperature and pressure of a system, we can influence change in crude caffeine. Crude caffeine is extracted from tea or coffee, our experiment was on tea. We got 9.6g of crude caffeine and it contained some purities. It became crude due to the lower boiling point of pure caffeine than the impurities. Therefore, pure caffeine went through the direct change of state before the impurities. We separated and collected the caffeine from impurities by condensing it in a closed area. To produce pure caffeine this process is used by commercial industries in a large number of scale, but for our laboratory purposes, we performed in a small filter flask, a rubber hose to connect to the flask and the vacuum. A conical centrifuge which worked as glass cold finger and it was fitted into the flask with a pluro stopper. In What s Wrong with Gay Marriage? Katha Pollitt defends the controversial decision with logic and reason. On the other hand, author Charles Colson writes in Gay Marriage : Societal Suicide that the very acceptance of same sex marriage is the beginning of the end of traditional American society. While the essays have contrasting views, both authors relay their messages eloquently and stir thought provoking discussions over one of the most decisive issues in modern America. Pollitt uses a series of analogies to convey that there is no substantial issue with permitting same sex marriage. Furthermore, the comparisons she presents strengthen her argument and defend against possible counter arguments. She attacks the notion of preventing homosexual marriage on the grounds of procreation and claims that the very idea is impractical. They write, we should be wary of those who accommodate Scripture to current scientific theory, because he who marries the spirit of the age will be a widower in the next. This is important to keep in mind, regardless of the issue, or your position on it. Archer point something out which is commonly overlooked regarding the possibility of death prior to the Fall. Young earth creationists commonly advocate that the sin of Adam brought about animal death, and prior to the Fall there was no death whatsoever (with the possible exclusion of insect or plant death). Much of this position is based on God s proclamation that the creation He had made was very good. They then use this to support the idea of a young earth. Ross and Archer explain why this fails: Many Christians seem to forget that Adam and Eve were not the first creatures to sin. According to Scripture, Satan committed the first sin. When Satan sinned, he brought about his own spiritual death and the spiritual death of all the angels who joined him in his rebellion against God. Each router can have its own independent weight values for any known routes. If two separate routes to the same network are known, the one that has the highest assigned weight value will be the preferred route. The local preference attribute is used to determine the best exit point for an autonomous system (AS). This value is shared by all the routers in the AS to select the best interfaces and routers for reaching known networks. Each known network may exit on any router in the AS, or all on one router in the AS. The route is determined by which router has the highest local preference number for a given network. • 39. What Does It Mean To Be A Feminism Essay The F Word What does it mean to be a feminist. The meaning has taken many twists and turns throughout the various decades it s been through. Society has transposed, humiliated and belittled the true purpose of the word Feminism. Often, when we hear the word feminist, most people associate it with the stereotypical image of an angry protester running in her bra down the streets. Or perhaps the image of an Ugly philosopher who is angry for not receiving male attention. Feminism still exists because women still do not have equal rights to men, in New Zealand or globally. I would like to re establish the rightful definition of Feminism. When a vote was released in the united states regarding gender equality among women, 41% voted yes and 59% voted no. However, the backlash of this vote stated that it was Unfair and simply filled with feminists and Gender Snobs . Any woman who openly states that she is a feminist is automatically judged and labelled as Man hater and a radical female . The real definition of a feminist is the advocacy of women s rights on the ground of the equality of the sexes . So why is our society discriminating and judging any person who openly admits to wanting equal rights for women? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... College Tuition Benefit Analysis Imagine somebody having just graduated from high school, and they are trying to get into a college, but they don t have to much say as to which college they go to because many students cannot afford to go to a nice college let alone a cheap college. According to the College Board of Education tuition has increased by 8.6% since 2012, meanwhile average household incomes have only increased by 2.23%. The following tuition increase trend is becoming a serious threat to American society, and must be slowed down. At this rate families will soon have no hope of ever paying for college debt. Many people want to blame the government to contributing greatly to the recent increase in tuition by saying there used to be a plethora of public funding opportunities for colleges, but that they were then all slashed. • 42. Frankenstein And Frankenstein Essay Several fields have studied the relationship between creator and creation. The most significant aspect of this research considers the difference between nature and nurture. Sociologists, psychologists, scientists, and other professionals have tried to pin down the exact distinctions between these two types of upbringings. In literature, the same questions have been asked and studied using fictional characters, most famously in John Milton s Paradise Lost, in 1667, and Mary Shelley s Frankenstein, in 1818. The complexity of the characters in these texts creates the theme of nature versus nurture before they diverge and arrive at differing conclusions. Many critics arose over the years to contest the main character of Milton s epic. Shelley, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Due to his mistakes in creating his character of God, Shelley personified Victor Frankenstein as a cold creator to provide a commentary on the harshness of Milton s God. Some have called Milton s God evil and unloving such as Richard Bentley (Read). This criticism can be attributed to the fact that Milton was cautious about creating a so called round character of God; this caution caused this flat creator that has no real stake in creation. When the first words that God speaks in Paradise Lost mock the fallen angels: Only begotten Son, seest thou what rage/ Transports our adversary (Milton III . 80 ) it only confirms the fate that this character cannot be the hero of the story. By doing this Milton created this malicious creator which inspired the cruelty that can clearly be seen in Victor Frankenstein in terms of both his family and his creation. The use of cruelty in creators, whether intentional or not determines the environment in which their creation lives. Shelley draws inspiration from Milton s Paradise Lost not only for the vicious creator in the stories but also the creations. In Milton s epic, God creates the father of humankind and the father of all demons. The characterization of Frankenstein s monster highlights points of both Adam and Satan; even the monster recognizes this within Shelley s work when he encounters Milton s ... Hamlet Nihilist Analysis To be or not to be a nihilist In 1927, Martin Heidegger observed that nihilism was already the normal state of man that the disbelief in life having objective meaning is the most prevalent. If Heidegger is correct, then our current era is one in which Hamlet would fit in well.. Critics have proposed that Hamlet is too much of a refined intellectual to commit a callous act such a murder, a more plausible claim is his crises of inaction not caused merely by a quirk of character or spirituality, it is in fact caused by a lack of spirit: Hamlet is not religious, he is a nihilist. Through his deep pessimism, incessant brooding, and radical skepticism, Hamlet shows his colors as a nihilist who believes in nothing and has no purpose. When Hamlet admits that there is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so (Shakespeare, II. ii. 254 55), Hamlet displays his lack of belief in even fundamental concepts such as good and evil; he dismisses them as mere constructs of the mind. Hamlet should be devoutly religious as a man in Christian Denmark. However, since he has a self professed lack of belief in good and evil, and therefore, religion and God, action is not possible because Action requires the veils of illusion. (Nietzsche 35).
