Analysis Of Game Of Thrones
Game of Thrones is a show that I have recently started watching. I usually don t watch television
shows of this genre, but this one is very entertaining. Game of Thrones is a good fantasy drama
because of the variety of settings, character development, and the suspense within the show.
It is important for a fantasy drama to have a variety of settings or change of scenery every so often
because this adds more to the show and keeps viewers from becoming bored. In Game of Thrones
there are many different settings showed. In this show, there are many characters who believe they are
the one true king or queen. The plot of the show is the conquest of these different characters to take
their place on the Iron Throne as the king or queen, hence the name
Game of Thrones. The many different characters and showing the story of their journeys is what
allows for the many different settings. The show shows seven different kingdoms, there is the
North Kingdom, Kingdom of Mountain and Vale, Kingdom of Isles and Rivers, Kingdom of the
Rock, Kingdom of the Stormlands, Kingdom of the Reach and the Principality of Dorne. Scenes take
place in each one of the settings listed and many other settings in places between the kingdoms.
Another important quality of a good fantasy drama is showing character development.
Character development allows viewers to watch the characters grow and shows more than one side of
the character, this gives the characters more depth and makes them more interesting and

The Importance Of Caritas As A Catholic Social Organisation
Part A:
In New Zealand has a lot of Catholic social organisation. In this assessment I choose Caritas as a
Catholic social organisation.
Caritas Internationalis is a catholic organisation and social service. Their mission is to work to build a
better world, especially for the poor and oppressed. Caritas has social service organisations in over
200 countries. And I will identify Caritas in Thailand because Thailand is my homeland and Thailand
has a lot of poor people. Many people in Thailand need the helping from organisation and I think
Caritas Thailand is a great organisation to service people. Caritas Thailand is not only help or service
people, they teach about the Catholic teaching to the people too. Also people will get the Catholic
social teaching from Caritas Thailand and this Catholic social teaching is important for live.
Caritas Thailand is set up in March 1968, Catholic Bishops Conference of Thailand (CBCT) had

Seismic Imaging: Seismic imaging facilitates an outstanding sound source into the ground to survey

Conspiracy Theories About Alexander The Great
Conspiracy Theories About Alexander the Great Alexander the Great was said to be born of King
Philip and Olympias. However, that is only one conspiracy that lies within this popular name. He was
born in 336 B.C. in Macedonia, Greece. Since then Alexander dreamed of becoming the king of Asia
and his mother wanted nothing more than her son on the throne. Many theories such as the death of
King Philip, the father of Alexander the Great, and the death of Alexander the Great are imbedded into
the history of this powerful ruler. The death of King Philip, supposedly the father of Alexander the
Great, is quite questionable. One theorem is that his death was planned by Olympias and Alexander.
Some supportive reasonings include the fact that King

A Comparison of The Perfect Storm Movie and Novel Essay
A Comparison of The Perfect Storm Movie and Novel
The Perfect Storm is a novel written by Sebastian Junger, that retells the horrific story of fishermen
and sailors who were caught in the eye of the worst storm in history. The book mainly focuses on the
Andrea Gail, a swordfishing boat, with a crew of 6 men, who disappeared without a trace deep into the
northern atlantic sea. In the year 2000, almost 10 years after the tragic event took place, a motion
picture, perfectly titled, The Perfect Storm which was based on the novel was released. There were
subtle to few changes in the plot line of the story, however there were many differences among the
book and movie. The movie is very intact with the plot and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The movie didn`t portray an important aspect, when the Andrea Gail was replacing and upgrading its
gears in the beginning, but the book did. That played a key role in why the Andrea Gail was caught in
the storm in the first place. The ice machine had broken down leaving the crew with no choice but to
return home, which meant heading into the storm, otherwise the fish they had worked so hard to catch
would spoil, making a whole waste of the trip. There were also details within the book that offered
much enlightment about the sea, the life of a fisherman, how a person dies, and storms, yet the movie
failed to offer that. That`s just one more argument for the debate of whether its better to read the book
or watch the movie.
There were certain plots that took place in the movie, but wasn`t mentioned in the book, if not then it
was only briefly brought about. When the 6 men were out in the bar drinking and partying the night
before they were off to sea once again, the book mentioned only briefly about Murph, one of the
crewmen, ?he has an ex wife Debra, and a three year old baby, also named Dale, whom he openly
adores?. In the movie, it showed Murph and his son, who wasn`t three years old, but older, in the
movie, bonding that last night. However, the book never mentioned this event taking place. The movie

The Stomatognathic System
The stomatognathic system (SS) is composed by dynamic and static components that requires balance
and control determine by the central nervous system (CNS), which makes them responsible for the
harmonious functioning and to perform different tasks (to speak, to break food down, and to swallow).
The SS is characterized by: skeletal components, dental arches, soft tissues, and temporomandibular
joint and masticatory muscles.(Cuccia and Caradonna 2009; Garcia de Paula Silva, Francisco
Wanderley, Mussolino de Queiroz, Alexandra, Díaz Serrano, Kranya Victoria. 2008) Posture refers to
the position of the human body and its orientation in space. This involves muscles activation that are
controlled by the CNS, which guide postural adjustments. These modifications can be induced by
afferent inputs like: exteroceptive, proprioceptive, vestibular an visual; all of them modulated by
different factors, such as anxiety and mood state. (Cuccia and Caradonna 2009). Temporomandibular

Essay about Changing the Drinking Age to 18
Young teens all get a bad rep when it comes to drinking alcohol. Especially college students that are
considered binge drinkers . When in reality a nation wide survey of students at 168 colleges and
university s found some interesting things about the underage corrupt youth. 93% of all students have
never received a lower grade in a class because of drinking too much. 98% of all college students say
that they have never gotten into trouble from an administrator from excessive drinking. While the
media continually gives the under twenty one community a bad rep, in reality they are continually

Another step that should be made in order for this law to be taken is to increase the amount of
drinking and driving laws. Drunk driving should not be tolerated of any kind. Punishment should be
increased and the current zero tolerance policy should remain if not made harsher. This would make
anti drinking organizations such as M.A.D.D. and S.A.D.D. happy for the drinking and driving aspect.
Defensive driving courses would also be made readily available in high schools throughout the
country. It would be a mandatory course to take. This would be a regulation because in most cases
there will be a small percentage of drunk drivers on the road still. There are more and more teenage
drivers on the road currently and these defensive driving courses would help make responsible drivers
aware of the dangers and prevent them from accidents involving the drunk driving. No matter what the
legal drinking age is there will always be drunk drivers on the road. Teenagers are over represented in
driving accidents involving alcohol. But for the ones that do, we must enforce harsher penalty s to
drivers that are under the influence. Another thing that would be helpful is for the government to
sponsor a program that would support some sort of Designated Drivers program on college campus s
and bars. This would eliminate a lot of the possible drinking and driving situations that would arise
and it would condone responsible drinking policies to everyone, and

The Different Forms Of Government, Friendship, Trust, And...
Within Aquinas political writings, he shows us the six different forms of government and the reason
why some are better than others. Government was created not just for organization but so people can
come together to form a community. A community works best when the governing only want well
being for the governed. Aquinas not only compares the different forms of government by showing
their benefits and drawbacks, but also argues about the supremacy of a monarchy, and how it s the best
form of government. The purpose of government is to look out for the well being of the community so
that it can keep all the basic values of human nature like religion, friendship, trust, and prosperity.
Aquinas states that government is to serve the people while taking into account peace and unity
because the good and wellbeing of a community united in fellowship lies in the preservation of its
unity (p 10). He explains that without fellowship there can be no unity and that we can find fellowship
through trust and well being. Peace gives community a sense of harmony through nonviolence and the
freedom from war. We find that government can be broken down into six different regimes, each
having a different way of ruling and a different objective. Each are different in ways yet some worse
than others. Aquinas describes each regime with a certain sense of reality and gives us an idea of what
the rulers are like within each government.
There are six forms of government; all compose of

The Lousy-Personal Narrative
I had never liked train cars. But I got on one anyway.
It was the same way with the traveling circus, I never liked circuses. Nowhere in my wildest dreams
did I ever imagine joining the circus until 2 years ago. But I did anyway, for the same reason I got on
the train car.
Oliver was doing it.
Oliver was my best friend since birth. He was 4 years, 3 months, and 2 days older than me (I figured it
out exactly. I had a lot of my time on my hands nowadays.), and was basically the older brother I
never had.
Oliver used to be slim and tall, his chocolate brown hair was always slicked back and out of his eyes.
His skin was just a shade lighter than his hair, and his eyes were like two pieces of coal. Dark freckles

The only thing I did was insist to come along. Maybe it was the surge of excitement I got when I was
offered to come along, or maybe it was my concern for Oliver that pushed me to make the decision.
But after spending 2 years in the circus, I realized it was because of Oliver. It was always because of
Oliver. I stole that candy bar because Oliver said he was hungry. I smacked that kid because he called
Oliver a word I wouldn t be able to repeat at home, if I had one. He didn t ask, he wouldn t ask, I just

in a cold train car that smells like a barn, wearing a white and red striped rabbit onesie, watching at

Chinese Buddhism
Buddhism traveled from India through the Silk Road and Central Asia to northern China in the first
century C.E. At that time the Chinese believed in Confucian values also known as the Chinese values.
The conflict between these values continued through many ruling Chinese dynasties. There were
inherent differences between the Buddhist beliefs and practices and traditional Confucius beliefs
practiced by the Chinese. These differences are captured in the three sources which are collection of
many biographies.
The first source is a collection of sixty five biographies of Buddhist nuns. This covers the period
between fourth and sixth centuries. This passage deals with the lives of nuns. It is a story of Lingshou

The passage articulated how increase in Buddhism has created more priests and temples at the cost of
work and family values. The spread of Buddhism lead to exhaustion of resources of the Empire from
317 C.E through 557 C.E. Gigantic temples and monasteries were like Imperial palaces. Huge
amounts of money instead of going into farming and business went into building temples and
monasteries. Taizong the Imperial ancestor who ruled during the period 626 649 C.E built the Middle
Kingdom by governing his kingdom his accomplished learning and culture. He believed in the power
of state but he tried to balance both Buddhism and Chinese values. Zhenguan and Gaiyuan, later
instituted radical changes. The Buddhist enjoyed many privileges; they did not pay taxes and were
treated differently, which was detrimental to state. These values were at variance with the Confucius
values of general applicability of rules to all people within the state. By confiscating land occupied by
temples and monasteries and by bringing the monks into the mainstream of the state a healthy balance
was achieved which ended the extremes of the first two

and responding to emergencies from 58,150 fire stations. Out of the 1,134,400 firefighters, 31 percent

work long shifts that include weekends and holidays. The two most common types of shifts for
firefighters are 24 hours on duty followed by 48 hours off duty, or 48 hours on duty with 96 hours off

sledgehammers, chainsaws, k12 saws, the jaws of life, fire engines, SCBA (self contained breathing

A Landmark Supreme Court Case
A landmark Supreme Court case is one in which a precedence is set and there is an impact on society.
There are many reasons for the importance of landmark cases and the studying of such cases. Some of
these reasons are to study how the judicial branch works, try to understand how decisions made in the
judicial branch affects laws and everyday life, and predict how current issues and cases will be
affected by past decisions (The Judicial Learning Center, 2012). There are many examples of Supreme
Court cases that are considered to be a landmark, but one example is Texas vs. Johnson. Outside of the
1984 Republican National Convention in Dallas, Texas, many people protested President Ronald
Reagan s policies. Among the protestors was one man named Gregory Lee Johnson. This man was so
upset by the policies of the President that he burned an American flag in protest. By doing this, a
statute in Texas was violated. This statute prevented the desecration of an American flag if it could
possibly anger other people amongst the protest. Johnson was arrested and charged with this violation.
He was later tried in court and convicted, but he made an appeal stating that by burning the flag he
was expressing his rights of symbolic speech which are protected by the first amendment
(uscourts.gov). The definition of symbolic speech is the same as a term called speech plus . This is a
form of expression in which behavior is used by itself or in coordination with written or spoken

Another similar topic of interest was the children in the movie. Again, the gender of children was
discriminated by how males were favored over females. This is of course due to the fact that the male
would be able to carry on the family line, while the female would not be able to. The reason why Qiu
Ju s husband was kicked in the groin was for saying that the village political head could only breed
hens, it was said with such condescending tone that clearly displayed how males are favored over
females. On the contrary, Ermo taunts her neighbor about the virility of her husband since he has not

Humorist Synthesis Essay
The concept of humor inciting change continues to be disagreed upon globally. Whereas mordant
humor demands mental depth to understand the purpose, blatant impunity messages are accessible and
easily created by humorists. Thus, humorists that are vital to society often rely upon humor with an
underlying message. As a result, de Botton s claim of humorists serving society is true, provided that
the message is dangerous to state blatantly.
Humorists revolve heavily around trending topics to help appeal to their audience. This practice lends
itself to humorists often becoming politically focused. Ideally, humorists would remove themselves
from appearing to be partisan but, as proven during the most recent presidential election, humorists
relied upon blatant jabs at both candidates. This resulted with audiences that found comic relief
through their dislike of candidates as opposed to the comedian s message. These circumstances led to
an election of the best of the worst, rather than electing candidates based on policy. This is an ... Show

The first time in which humor served a social function in America was when the African Americans
displayed silent sabotage. Although this form of peaceful revolt also relied on faking sickness and not

led to cultural oppression for slaves; slave owners prevented their slaves from acting dissimilar from
whites. Thus, slaves relied on humor with underlying meanings as a form of preventing cultural
oppression. The slaves created stories and songs that developed into African American folklore; this
was allowed because it appeared to praise white people. This folklore ultimately made fun of white
culture and served as a message of rebellion that was otherwise too dangerous for slaves to

Gender Identity As An Axis Of Social Order
Gender is considered an axis of social order. Its categorisation into masculinity and femininity is
social constructed and maintained in everyday life (Clark and Page, 2005; Mackie, 1994). Gender
identity is our innermost understanding of our self as male or female . Most people develop a gender
identity that matched their biological sex (their body). Gender identity can be affected by, and is
different from one society to another, depending on the way the members of society evaluate the role
of females and males. Our gender identity can be influenced from the ethnicity of the group, their
cultural background, and family values. Gender like social class and race can be used to socially
categorize people and even lead to prejudice and discrimination. From day to day, continuous
production of gender has been called doing gender (West and Zimmermann, 1987), meaning that
gender is made by us in everyday lives in our interactions with others.
The media does affects and influenced gender identity. For instance children are constantly bombarded
with shows depicting gender stereotype models from toys marketed as for boys or girls, to children s
TV programmes and shows. It is common for children s programmes to emphasize the role of the
make hero who saves the weak female. Children interpret these messages as real life which shapes
their reality, behaviour and expectations of their gender role. However, the social construction of
gender does not happen only, it continues

Should Government Welfare Be Abolished
Should all forms of government welfare be abolished?
Today most industrialized nations have established as variety of programs, usually providing public
assistance for poor, disabled, and elderly individuals. How to control future welfare spending without
cutting benefits so much that large numbers of people fall into poverty. Before the 1900s,most
governments played a mirror role in ensuring social welfare. England passed laws during the 1600s
that required communities to care for the poor, but the national government did not contribute funds.
Similar programs sprang up in other European countries, as well as Australia and New Zealand, by the
early 1900s. American attitudes about welfare changed during the Great Depression of the 1930s,
when up to a quarter of the workforce was unemployed. In 1935, the federal government passed the
Social Security Act, which provided limited retirement benefits to about 60 percent of American
workers. The government runs a number of programs to help the need. In Texas, people can pick up
basic goods provided by the state at a community center. During the 1980s, conservative politicians
began to call for welfare. Many countries also offer other types of benefits to their citizens, regardless
of need. Social Security was just the first of many welfare programs established by the U.S.
government. Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), provide benefits in the form of cash.
It was created in 1996 to replace Aid to Families which the father was decreased, disabled, or absent.
Under TANF, by contrast, the federal government gives each state a lump sum of money, which the
state may spend in any way it considers appropriate to help needy families. The U.S. Department of
Agriculture administers the Food Stamp program, which provides low income people with coupons
that they can exchange for food. Various other U.S. programs provide additional services, such as food
aid for needy children, early childhood education, job training and assistance, support for disabled
veterans, and help with home energy costs. The U.S. Constitution does not contain such specific
requirements and the U.S. Supreme Court has never recognized a constitutional right to basic

Globalization and Transfer Pricing Essay
Globalisation could be defined as the interactive co evolution of millions of technological, cultural,
economic, social and environmental trends at all conceivable spatiotemporal scales (Rennen Martens
2003). When discussing globalisation, the topic transfer pricing always seem to arise which could be
because this multi nationals trade between themselves and the government also uses transfer pricing.
Therefore transfer pricing is used wold wide and could be said to be an important accounting factor
which enables the success of a firm due to the fact its set up to induce optimal decision making in
decentralized firms. Transfer pricing could be defined when a company trades goods/services and the
allocation of profits and taxes with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This method could be said to closely reflect the real economic contribution of the division to total
company profits. i.e. if the receiving divisional unit does not exist, the firm would sell at market price
to the external customers and alternatively if the selling unit does not exist, the firm would buy from
the external market at the market price. Therefore the profits derived from each sub unit would likely
be the same even if the divisions were a separate organisation. By using this method in a perfectly
competitive market, a firm satisfies the three purposes which are: meeting the criteria for goal
congruence, evaluating management effort and not undermining sub unit autonomy. Because of the
internal transactions this method provides a cost saving advantage to the sub unit. For example the
selling unit can avoid credit checks cost and collection cost while the buying units can avoid
inspection cost. Therefore, there is a difference in profit due to the cost reduction while trading
internally. A major problem to this transfer pricing method is markets are unlikely to be perfectly
competitive i.e. the goods in the market are differentiated in a particular way (for example: price)
therefore, companies can determine either price or quantity produced. Firstly, the major

Abstract
This report will focus on the main topics and concerns about CFO s. First, we will focus on the history
of the CFO. How the CFO came to be a reality and how different the position is today from fifty years
ago. Second, what does the CFO really do? What time of jobs CFO s have to take on everyday? Third,
what are the attributes a person needs to have in order to be a successful CFO. Lastly, we will look at
some of the highest paid CFO s that we have in our country today. This reports purpose is to shed
some light on the CFO and the importance of their jobs in the business industry. I was unaware on
how much a CFO actually does until I actually did some research about them. I have gain a new
respect for them after reading how much time and effort they have to work in order to run a successful
business.
The Facts and Traits of a CFO
How CFO s came to be
For some reason, business in the early 1900 s didn t seem to care about their finances and record
keeping nearly as much as we do today. People didn t start realizing this until around the 1960 s.
Before the Chief Financial Officer was even thought about, most companies had a Financial Manager .
They kept track of the financial records and handled the taxes but that was about it.
In the 1970 s, the SEC and the FASB were considering making accounting and financing regulations

attacks, especially since it broke the church code of law ( Jews and the Crusades ). As a result of the
Christians hatred, the crusaders began their Crusades with attacks on the Jews. One of the first major
attacks on the Jews occurred when Emicho of Flonheim lead an attack against the Jews of Mainz on
May 27, 1096 ( Jews and the Crusades ). The Jews fled to the palace of Archbishop Ruothard, but
Emicho s forces were too strong and broke through their gates ( Jews and the Crusades ). When the
Jews saw what their fate was, many Jews, fell upon one another, brother, children, wives, and sisters,

The Jews that fled were quickly captured and were either forcibly baptised or murdered ( Jews and the
Crusades ). These attacks resulted in a bitter relationship between Christians and Jews for hundreds of
years for unnecessary persecution and killing. This shows that the Crusades were a turning point
because it ruined relationships that affected their interactions for hundreds of years.
A third effect of the crusades was the influx of many new ideas into the European culture from
Muslim culture. When the crusaders went to the Holy Lands, they were very far behind culturally
because they were in the thick of the dark ages, due to the viking raids, which kept many Europeans
isolated. When they reached the Holy Lands, they were introduced into their culture that was years
ahead of them. This enlightenment of culture to all of the crusaders resulted in cultural diffusion. All
of the great things that they saw and experienced in Jerusalem, they brought back with them. These
things that they brought back included the handkerchief, mosaics, the guitar, sugar cane, syrup,
lemons, silk, glass mirrors, cotton, plums, almonds, watermelons, pearls, and many more great things.
This diffusion had a huge impact because it introduced the Europeans to all of the

My Jewish Identity in Conflict Essay
My Jewish Identity in Conflict
When I think of my cultural identity, my religion Judaism comes to mind first and foremost. When I
think of my Jewish identity in conflict, racism (in my case anti Semitism ) is the obvious factor. But to
fully define my conflict with my religious identity, I cannot only write from personal experiences with
racism. I must also include the anti Semitism that my forefathers have endured, from the beginning of
time up to today, ranging from the Spanish Inquisition to the Holocaust, from the massacre at the
Munich Olympics to Iraq s actions in the Persian Gulf War. From direct racism and intended hatred to
subtle racism in the form of jokes and passing comments, anti Semitism has played a big part in my ...

Anti Semitism continues around the world today. In the recent Persian Gulf War, Saddam Hussein
bombed Israel in several areas even though Israel was not involved in any part of the war. Just a few
days ago, on October 26, six Israeli soldiers were killed instantly when a bomb in their jeep, planted
by Iranian terrorists, exploded.
Obviously, I have never gone through anything close to what the aforementioned have, but I have
endured racism personally. In a high school junior varsity basketball game my sophomore year, our
team traveled to a nearby high school. At the very end of the game (it was a blowout in our favor, and
there was not much of a crowd), I was dribbling near the opposing team s bench when all of a sudden,
one of their players on the bench yelled, Go home, you fucking Jew! I couldn t believe it. I just
stopped playing and stared at him, while my teammates waited for me to do something with the ball. I
had never heard anything like that directed at me before.
At first, I was in what might best be called shock, and then, after time had expired, I walked over to
our bench and my shock turned to anger. I didn t know what to do. I didn t confront him physically or
verbally, because I feared my anger might get the best of me. That wouldn t bode well for me, since I
m not exactly Muhammed Ali. In the end, I just went into the locker room without saying a word. I

United States Army and Respect
Respect
RESPECT HAS BEEN a distinctive US Army value since 1778 when Frederick William
Baron von Steuben noted that a US officer.s first objective should be to treat his men .with every
possible kindness and humanity..1 So it was not surprising when the US Army identified respect as
oneof its seven values. In 1998 respect language gave the Army a powerful way to organize ongoing
discussions about discrimination and harassment.2 The previous year.s headlines had been filled with
allegations of appalling violations of respect. The inclusion of respect as a value along with loyalty,
duty, selfless service, honor, integrity and personal courage sent a strong message that respect for
others should be an integral part of US Army leadership. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you want others to give you respect, you must first learn how to give respect yourself. There is a lot
of ways to respect a person or people, there are a lot of definitions to define respect: To feel or show
definite regard for; esteem. To avoid violation of or interference with: respect the speed limit. To relate
or refer to; concern . relation or reference, esteem for or a sense of the worth or excellence of a person,
a personal quality or ability, or something considered as a manifestation of a personal quality or
ability, deference to a right, privilege, privileged position, or someone or something considered to
have certain rights or privileges; proper acceptance or courtesy; acknowledgment, the condition of
being esteemed or honored, a formal expression or gesture of greeting, esteem, or friendship, favor or
partiality. Another one is to respect their rules, feelings, their personal space or bubble. There are
many other forms of respect. Respect is created in many ways. It is created when people treat others as
they want to be treated. So the growth of something, such as respect, often nourishes itself from its
own process and dynamics. Being the first to accord respect, and with time, it will develop amongst
all the conflicting parties. Avoid insulting people or how they feel about certain situations. Instead try

Elitism In Government
The ability to compel another person to comply with one s intentions is known as power. Authority is
a form of power that takes its force from legitimacy, political authority that is assigned by the law or
the state through legal documents. The government is an institution that is based upon authority. There
are various ways in which authority can be conferred upon a governmental institution and many
opinions on how it should be used. Thomas Jefferson states that a good government should be
considerate of the people s needs, and should concern itself with protecting its citizens without
interfering with citizens personal affairs. According to this interpretation, the government must be
restricted in its authority, should act in the interests ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In a government such as Jefferson describes, majoritarian politics is most fitting. Majoritarian politics
generally occurs when the government considers issues important to the people. The people have more
power because pressure from the majority opinion is exerted on the leader. Meanwhile, elitism occurs
when public opinion is largely absent, giving leaders greater freedom to act in self interest. There are
several theories of elitism: Marxism, which describes power as being in the hands of business leaders,
a view exemplified by the influence held by American capitalists; the power elite theory, in which key
leaders in society control and are served by the government, can be seen in the influence held by the
media and wealthy members of society; the bureaucratic view, which holds the official as the vessel of
power and hand behind administrative action, and may be exemplified by members of Congress, who
deliberate amongst themselves on matters that may concern the public; and the pluralist view, which
describes various powerful groups in government and politics as cooperating with each other while
being aware of the public opinion in order to maintain popularity. This is observed in the cooperation
between various branches of government and powerful organizations. Elitism allows for more self
interest. Although a self interested government does not necessarily dictate that policies will be
unbeneficial for the people, it is on the whole detrimental and less restricted than the ideal Jefferson
held for government. A majoritarian government is best suited to Jefferson s idea of

like after the failure of the march that King had gone back to Atlanta and the people requested King s

The National Education Goals Of The United States
The National Education Goals, adopted in 1990, specified eight goals for educational improvement in
the United States. As stated in the National Education Goals, By the year 2000, every school will
promote partnerships that will increase parental involvement and participation in promoting the social,
emotional, and academic growth of children (National Education Goals Panel, 1998). According to the
final report, there was no significant change in the level of parent participation in the majority of the
states. The No Child Left Behind law established strict provisions for states, school districts, and
schools with regard to parental involvement among the parents of disadvantaged students for
increasing academic achievement (U.S. Department of Education, 2003). Epstein suggests that schools
establish comprehensive school family partnership programs.
Partnerships programs can provide substantial benefits for students which include: improved academic
achievement (including classroom grades and standardized tests), improved academic achievement
(including classroom grades and standardized tests), improved attendance, homework habits, attitudes
toward school, behavior, and increased completion rates for secondary and postsecondary education
(Epstein, 1986). Further studies indicate substantial benefits to parents, including: additional family
services and support, enhanced parenting skills and leadership, enhanced sense of community and

to businesses especially in developing countries to access to the global market and reduce the

The foundation of the German banking system is well developed. Germany was the first bureau in

and its obligation is to oversee economic growth, develop the banking and financial system and

investment in the public sector. With the desire of economic growth, the central bank should attempt
to maintain internal price stability, by adopting different interest rates (Bravenewcoin, 2017) .
With the launch of European monetary union and the introduction of the euro at the beginning of

Milky Way Shapley
The Size of the Milky Way Shapley correctly asserted that the diameter of the Milky Way Galaxy was
much larger than the conventional scale based on star counts, but then incorrectly concluded that
similar sized galaxies beyond our own could not exist. Curtis incorrectly accepted the smaller size for
our Galaxy, but correctly argued that similar galaxies might exist beyond our own.
Distribution of the Nebulae in the Sky Curtis noted that the observed spiral nebulae were generally
found away from the plane of the Galaxy, and he suggested that our Galaxy had a ring of occulting1
material in its plane, like those observed in many edge on spirals, preventing us from seeing the
nebulae in the plane. Shapley simply had to accept the notion that spiral nebulae were, for some
unknown reason, not found in the Galactic plane. Curtis was almost correct in this point. Note,
however, that the effects of absorption by interstellar dust were completely unknown at the time.
Observations of Novae Shapley argued (correctly) that the observed apparent brightnesses of some
novae seen in spiral nebulae implied enormous luminosities if the nebulae lay at large distances.
Curtis suggested (also correctly) that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Young children who are left unattended will slowly loose their civilization, which will turn into,
Savagery, Power, and Fear. Civilization is when man meets his basic needs in a healthy manner.
Savagery is when people revert back to their lost human instincts. Power, in the case of Lord Of the
Flies it s a position of ascendancy over others: AUTHORITY. Fear is an unpleasant often strong
emotion caused by expectation or awareness of danger.
Lord of the Flies shows a great amount of uncivilization through out the whole novel. Through all the

boys behavior is what brings the beast into existences, so the more savagely they act, the more real the

Discrimination Against African American Population
In our society, today there are various privileges given to everyone but one I chose to talk about was
one dealing with a person s name. Names are the beginning of discrimination against the African
American population because of the stereotypical so called black names . This is a problem in today s
society because businesses that are hiring applicants can look at a name and automatically make the
decision on if they want to give this person chance at an interview or not. For example, there are two
applicants one with the name of Bethany and the Shaniqwa, they both have all the same credentials
and the same abilities to be able to get the job done thoroughly, but the person hiring will hire Bethany
based on her name. That is what it is like African Americans in the workforce, whether people want to
believe it or not. Discrimination can happen in many forms, and because corporations rather not be
blatant with discrimination, they find other ways like this to discriminate. What do we go through to
try and avoid discrimination? What can be done to stop the discrimination? These are some of the
questions I hope to find answers to as I begin my research on the systemic privilege.
IN the 1980s, the Supreme Court substantially narrowed the reach and remedies of civil rights laws
addressing employment discrimination. In 1989 the Court issued a series of decisions that constituted
a body blow to the effort to secure equal employment opportunity. These decisions interpreted Title

Sufka Chapter Summary
In the introduction, it is apparent by Dr. Kenneth Sufka comments that how you studied in high school
will probably not work in college. However, much of what he observed in college students is easily
fixed. Also, what he saw and made into guidelines is applicable to all students across the globe and not
to just one in particular. All of these rules can most certainly bring your grades up and make you into a
better student. Specifically, they will turn you into a better studier and test taker. In all, it is beneficial
to learn the rules he has set. In Chapter One, his first rule is to go to class always (11). Dr. Sufka is
trying to emphasize even if your friend did take notes, they are not what you would have done. As
individuals, we all make notes differently, because our brains function diversely. One person may like
to just have one full page of notes, which may be fine for them. Meanwhile, their friend likes to add
bullets for better symmetry. Overall, Dr. Sufka emphasizes the importance of going to class, and he
also notes there are not many excuses that can be made as to why you would not. In Chapter Two, his
second rule is to never sit in cheap seats (15). The seats he is referring to would be the ones in the

only a finite amount of time, but their most imposing obstacle was finding a way to govern these
foreign lands. Genghis Khan was the first to integrate the Mongols into these societies, and with their
expert military skills, they overthrew surrounding nations and captured their lands. Genghis knew that
he couldn t adopt an umbrella policy for vastly differing nations, so the Mongols who occupied each
subjected nation reigned over the people and installed different governmental structures that suited
particular societies. One of his monumental creations that defined ruling structure, was that of his
Yasa. This was essentially a guide on the ethics and precedence s of the Mongols. It created stability
within Mongol s that allowed them to focus on maintaining their grip on other colonies without
infringing too much upon the culture.
The Golden horde was the main military reckoning of the Mongols and is what allowed them to take

Drugs In Developing Countries
Developed countries In developed countries the technology and doctors are good enough to produce
and prescribe drugs to the right people and are able to treat everyone affected, weheras in LED
countries some people will be treated whilst others won t due to there not being enough resource to
treat everyone. Less economically developed countries Multiple sclerosis is a serious condition that
affects the brain and the spinal cord. However, in different locations this disease will have different
effects; in less economically developed countries the condition would be harder to deal with. This
could be due to them not having the right equipment to manufacture cures so they would have to seek
help from elsewhere. These countries are not as technologically advanced as places like the US and
the UK, so they don t have the means to produce the medicine. Populations This disease is not really
life threatening/ not fatal so the population size will not really be affected. Although in less
economically developed countries those families with a person that is suffering from multiple sclerosis
will find it hard to care for him/her as they will require more attention. Economy As there is no cure
for multiple sclerosis as of now scientists will always be testing new drugs to find a cure. This will
obviously have an affect on the economy as drug trials require a lot of money in order to be carried;
drug test will only really be carried out in the more developed countries as

  • 2. Analysis Of Game Of Thrones Game of Thrones is a show that I have recently started watching. I usually don t watch television shows of this genre, but this one is very entertaining. Game of Thrones is a good fantasy drama because of the variety of settings, character development, and the suspense within the show. It is important for a fantasy drama to have a variety of settings or change of scenery every so often because this adds more to the show and keeps viewers from becoming bored. In Game of Thrones there are many different settings showed. In this show, there are many characters who believe they are the one true king or queen. The plot of the show is the conquest of these different characters to take their place on the Iron Throne as the king or queen, hence the name Game of Thrones. The many different characters and showing the story of their journeys is what allows for the many different settings. The show shows seven different kingdoms, there is the North Kingdom, Kingdom of Mountain and Vale, Kingdom of Isles and Rivers, Kingdom of the Rock, Kingdom of the Stormlands, Kingdom of the Reach and the Principality of Dorne. Scenes take place in each one of the settings listed and many other settings in places between the kingdoms. Another important quality of a good fantasy drama is showing character development. Character development allows viewers to watch the characters grow and shows more than one side of the character, this gives the characters more depth and makes them more interesting and ... Many people in Thailand need the helping from organisation and I think Caritas Thailand is a great organisation to service people. Caritas Thailand is not only help or service people, they teach about the Catholic teaching to the people too. Also people will get the Catholic social teaching from Caritas Thailand and this Catholic social teaching is important for live. • 5. Conspiracy Theories About Alexander The Great Conspiracy Theories About Alexander the Great Alexander the Great was said to be born of King Philip and Olympias. However, that is only one conspiracy that lies within this popular name. He was born in 336 B.C. in Macedonia, Greece. Since then Alexander dreamed of becoming the king of Asia and his mother wanted nothing more than her son on the throne. Many theories such as the death of King Philip, the father of Alexander the Great, and the death of Alexander the Great are imbedded into the history of this powerful ruler. • 6. A Comparison of The Perfect Storm Movie and Novel Essay A Comparison of The Perfect Storm Movie and Novel The Perfect Storm is a novel written by Sebastian Junger, that retells the horrific story of fishermen and sailors who were caught in the eye of the worst storm in history. The book mainly focuses on the Andrea Gail, a swordfishing boat, with a crew of 6 men, who disappeared without a trace deep into the northern atlantic sea. In the year 2000, almost 10 years after the tragic event took place, a motion picture, perfectly titled, The Perfect Storm which was based on the novel was released. There were subtle to few changes in the plot line of the story, however there were many differences among the book and movie. The movie is very intact with the plot and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The movie didn`t portray an important aspect, when the Andrea Gail was replacing and upgrading its gears in the beginning, but the book did. That played a key role in why the Andrea Gail was caught in the storm in the first place. The ice machine had broken down leaving the crew with no choice but to return home, which meant heading into the storm, otherwise the fish they had worked so hard to catch would spoil, making a whole waste of the trip. There were also details within the book that offered much enlightment about the sea, the life of a fisherman, how a person dies, and storms, yet the movie failed to offer that. That`s just one more argument for the debate of whether its better to read the book or watch the movie. There were certain plots that took place in the movie, but wasn`t mentioned in the book, if not then it was only briefly brought about. When the 6 men were out in the bar drinking and partying the night before they were off to sea once again, the book mentioned only briefly about Murph, one of the crewmen, ?he has an ex wife Debra, and a three year old baby, also named Dale, whom he openly adores?. In the movie, it showed Murph and his son, who wasn`t three years old, but older, in the movie, bonding that last night. However, the book never mentioned this event taking place. Another step that should be made in order for this law to be taken is to increase the amount of drinking and driving laws. Drunk driving should not be tolerated of any kind. Punishment should be increased and the current zero tolerance policy should remain if not made harsher. This would make anti drinking organizations such as M.A.D.D. and S.A.D.D. happy for the drinking and driving aspect. Defensive driving courses would also be made readily available in high schools throughout the country. It would be a mandatory course to take. This would be a regulation because in most cases there will be a small percentage of drunk drivers on the road still. There are more and more teenage drivers on the road currently and these defensive driving courses would help make responsible drivers aware of the dangers and prevent them from accidents involving the drunk driving. No matter what the legal drinking age is there will always be drunk drivers on the road. Teenagers are over represented in driving accidents involving alcohol. But for the ones that do, we must enforce harsher penalty s to drivers that are under the influence. Another thing that would be helpful is for the government to sponsor a program that would support some sort of Designated Drivers program on college campus s and bars. This would eliminate a lot of the possible drinking and driving situations that would arise and it would condone responsible drinking policies to everyone, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Different Forms Of Government, Friendship, Trust, And... Within Aquinas political writings, he shows us the six different forms of government and the reason why some are better than others. Government was created not just for organization but so people can come together to form a community. A community works best when the governing only want well being for the governed. Aquinas not only compares the different forms of government by showing their benefits and drawbacks, but also argues about the supremacy of a monarchy, and how it s the best form of government. The purpose of government is to look out for the well being of the community so that it can keep all the basic values of human nature like religion, friendship, trust, and prosperity. Aquinas states that government is to serve the people while taking into account peace and unity because the good and wellbeing of a community united in fellowship lies in the preservation of its unity (p 10). He explains that without fellowship there can be no unity and that we can find fellowship through trust and well being. Peace gives community a sense of harmony through nonviolence and the freedom from war. We find that government can be broken down into six different regimes, each having a different way of ruling and a different objective. Each are different in ways yet some worse than others. Aquinas describes each regime with a certain sense of reality and gives us an idea of what the rulers are like within each government. There are six forms of government; all compose of ... There are many reasons for the importance of landmark cases and the studying of such cases. Some of these reasons are to study how the judicial branch works, try to understand how decisions made in the judicial branch affects laws and everyday life, and predict how current issues and cases will be affected by past decisions (The Judicial Learning Center, 2012). There are many examples of Supreme Court cases that are considered to be a landmark, but one example is Texas vs. Johnson. Outside of the 1984 Republican National Convention in Dallas, Texas, many people protested President Ronald Reagan s policies. Among the protestors was one man named Gregory Lee Johnson. This man was so upset by the policies of the President that he burned an American flag in protest. By doing this, a statute in Texas was violated. This statute prevented the desecration of an American flag if it could possibly anger other people amongst the protest. Johnson was arrested and charged with this violation. He was later tried in court and convicted, but he made an appeal stating that by burning the flag he was expressing his rights of symbolic speech which are protected by the first amendment (uscourts.gov). Therefore the profits derived from each sub unit would likely be the same even if the divisions were a separate organisation. By using this method in a perfectly competitive market, a firm satisfies the three purposes which are: meeting the criteria for goal congruence, evaluating management effort and not undermining sub unit autonomy. Because of the internal transactions this method provides a cost saving advantage to the sub unit. For example the selling unit can avoid credit checks cost and collection cost while the buying units can avoid inspection cost. Therefore, there is a difference in profit due to the cost reduction while trading internally. At the very end of the game (it was a blowout in our favor, and there was not much of a crowd), I was dribbling near the opposing team s bench when all of a sudden, one of their players on the bench yelled, Go home, you fucking Jew! I couldn t believe it. I just stopped playing and stared at him, while my teammates waited for me to do something with the ball. I had never heard anything like that directed at me before. At first, I was in what might best be called shock, and then, after time had expired, I walked over to our bench and my shock turned to anger. I didn t know what to do. I didn t confront him physically or verbally, because I feared my anger might get the best of me. That wouldn t bode well for me, since I m not exactly Muhammed Ali. In the end, I just went into the locker room without saying a word. I never really have put this behind me. I m not saying that I am ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

United States Army and Respect Respect RESPECT HAS BEEN a distinctive US Army value since 1778 when Frederick William Baron von Steuben noted that a US officer.s first objective should be to treat his men .with every possible kindness and humanity..1 So it was not surprising when the US Army identified respect as oneof its seven values. In 1998 respect language gave the Army a powerful way to organize ongoing discussions about discrimination and harassment.2 The previous year.s headlines had been filled with allegations of appalling violations of respect. The inclusion of respect as a value along with loyalty, duty, selfless service, honor, integrity and personal courage sent a strong message that respect for others should be an integral part of US Army leadership. ... Authority is a form of power that takes its force from legitimacy, political authority that is assigned by the law or the state through legal documents. The government is an institution that is based upon authority. There are various ways in which authority can be conferred upon a governmental institution and many opinions on how it should be used. Thomas Jefferson states that a good government should be considerate of the people s needs, and should concern itself with protecting its citizens without interfering with citizens personal affairs. In a government such as Jefferson describes, majoritarian politics is most fitting. Majoritarian politics generally occurs when the government considers issues important to the people. The people have more power because pressure from the majority opinion is exerted on the leader. Meanwhile, elitism occurs when public opinion is largely absent, giving leaders greater freedom to act in self interest. There are several theories of elitism: Marxism, which describes power as being in the hands of business leaders, a view exemplified by the influence held by American capitalists; the power elite theory, in which key leaders in society control and are served by the government, can be seen in the influence held by the media and wealthy members of society; the bureaucratic view, which holds the official as the vessel of power and hand behind administrative action, and may be exemplified by members of Congress, who deliberate amongst themselves on matters that may concern the public; and the pluralist view, which describes various powerful groups in government and politics as cooperating with each other while being aware of the public opinion in order to maintain popularity. This is observed in the cooperation between various branches of government and powerful organizations. Elitism allows for more self interest. Although a self interested government does not necessarily dictate that policies will be unbeneficial for the people, it is on the whole detrimental and less restricted than the ideal Jefferson held for government. As stated in the National Education Goals, By the year 2000, every school will promote partnerships that will increase parental involvement and participation in promoting the social, emotional, and academic growth of children (National Education Goals Panel, 1998). According to the final report, there was no significant change in the level of parent participation in the majority of the states. The No Child Left Behind law established strict provisions for states, school districts, and schools with regard to parental involvement among the parents of disadvantaged students for increasing academic achievement (U.S. Department of Education, 2003). Epstein suggests that schools establish comprehensive school family partnership programs. Partnerships programs can provide substantial benefits for students which include: improved academic achievement (including classroom grades and standardized tests), improved academic achievement (including classroom grades and standardized tests), improved attendance, homework habits, attitudes toward school, behavior, and increased completion rates for secondary and postsecondary education (Epstein, 1986). Milky Way Shapley The Size of the Milky Way Shapley correctly asserted that the diameter of the Milky Way Galaxy was much larger than the conventional scale based on star counts, but then incorrectly concluded that similar sized galaxies beyond our own could not exist. Curtis incorrectly accepted the smaller size for our Galaxy, but correctly argued that similar galaxies might exist beyond our own. Distribution of the Nebulae in the Sky Curtis noted that the observed spiral nebulae were generally found away from the plane of the Galaxy, and he suggested that our Galaxy had a ring of occulting1 material in its plane, like those observed in many edge on spirals, preventing us from seeing the nebulae in the plane. Shapley simply had to accept the notion that spiral nebulae were, for some unknown reason, not found in the Galactic plane. Curtis was almost correct in this point. Note, however, that the effects of absorption by interstellar dust were completely unknown at the time. • 39. Discrimination Against African American Population In our society, today there are various privileges given to everyone but one I chose to talk about was one dealing with a person s name. Names are the beginning of discrimination against the African American population because of the stereotypical so called black names . This is a problem in today s society because businesses that are hiring applicants can look at a name and automatically make the decision on if they want to give this person chance at an interview or not. For example, there are two applicants one with the name of Bethany and the Shaniqwa, they both have all the same credentials and the same abilities to be able to get the job done thoroughly, but the person hiring will hire Bethany based on her name. That is what it is like African Americans in the workforce, whether people want to believe it or not. Discrimination can happen in many forms, and because corporations rather not be blatant with discrimination, they find other ways like this to discriminate. What do we go through to try and avoid discrimination? What can be done to stop the discrimination? These are some of the questions I hope to find answers to as I begin my research on the systemic privilege. IN the 1980s, the Supreme Court substantially narrowed the reach and remedies of civil rights laws addressing employment discrimination. In 1989 the Court issued a series of decisions that constituted a body blow to the effort to secure equal employment opportunity. These decisions interpreted Title ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

All of these rules can most certainly bring your grades up and make you into a better student. Specifically, they will turn you into a better studier and test taker. In all, it is beneficial to learn the rules he has set. In Chapter One, his first rule is to go to class always (11). Dr. Sufka is trying to emphasize even if your friend did take notes, they are not what you would have done. As individuals, we all make notes differently, because our brains function diversely. One person may like to just have one full page of notes, which may be fine for them. Meanwhile, their friend likes to add bullets for better symmetry. Overall, Dr. Sufka emphasizes the importance of going to class, and he also notes there are not many excuses that can be made as to why you would not.
