Why Is Karl Marx Considered Radical
Karl Marx and His Radical Views
Karl Marx[i] Karl Marx is among the most important and influential of all modern philosophers who
expressed his ideas on humans in nature. According to the University of Dayton, the human person is
part of a larger history of life on this planet. Through technology humans have the power to have an
immense effect on that life. [ii] The people of his time found that the impact of the Industrial
Revolution would further man s success within this world and would ensure his success as a species.
Marx was extremely radical in finding that this was a positive impact on humans in nature.
In order to understand why his views were considered radical, it is important to understand his ...

Marx believed the workers were not collecting the benefits of the Industrial Revolution. Marx says
that men are forced to work for natural survival. Marx also suggests that working men only have time
to engage in the basic animalistic tendencies of a quest for survival. He says that man becomes
alienated from nature and other humans as well. Marx is basically saying that man lived day by day,
by day and he has nothing else to really live for.
Marx thought that as the workers grew stronger, they would eventually rebel against the organization.
In doing this, they would create a classless society where everyone would be equal and all property
would be abolished. The basis of Marxism is the conviction that socialism is inevitable. Marx believed
the free enterprise system, or capitalism, was doomed and that socialism was the only option[iv].
Obviously, this was not a favored philosophy with expanding industrialists, entrepreneurs, and
existing political systems of the mid nineteenth century [v].
Marx wrote The Communist Manifesto with the German radical, Fredriech Engels,
Fredriech Engels[vi]
who was also Marx s best friend. The Communist Manifesto was a pamphlet written on the eve of the
German Revolution in 1848. In his essay, Marx explains his radical theories on politics and history.
Marx and Engels also examined the positive aspects of capitalism in The Communist Manifesto. They
thought the bourgeoisie had

Charcoal And Paper Filter Case Study
Both the charcoal and paper filter cigarettes were smoked through a hookah to represent the lungs of a
mammal. The results showed that the cilia beat fastest with the control, slightly slower with the
charcoal filter and the paper filter was least effective. In figure one it shows that the control group of
seawater produced the greatest average number of cilia beats with 326.5. When the mollusc gill was
immersed in the charcoal filter extract the cilia beats per minute decreased to 251.3. Lastly the average
number of cilia beats for the paper filter extract was 232. Figure 1 shows a decreasing trend of cilia
beats per minute when the gill was immersed in an increasingly more polluted solution. The vertical

Maya Lin Vietnam Veterans Memorial Analysis
1. The artist of the memorial, Maya Lin, is an American of Asian descent who is famous for her
sculptures and land art. Her most famous work, the Vietnam Memorial, was chosen in a contest, and
her designs both mesmerized and angered many people. Since them, works and designs she has
created for competitions have been mainly memorials and remembrances based on historical events.
Her works are intended to use the natural texture and geology of the space around the monument to its
advantage in its creation.
2. The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, a non profit organization, began collecting private funds and
donations to create a memorial. Over 8 million dollars were raised. A site was picked near the Lincoln
Memorial at an older World War I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

6. The Vietnam War Memorial is considered the best example of site specific art in the contemporary
movement.
7. When Lin won the competition for the designing of the monument, a lot of sceptics managed to
successfully take apart her design when she unveiled it. Some critics claimed it looked like a scar; an
embarrassment for United States (as it was moving along with the hill it was created on, and therefore
looked hiding), while others saw something that was trying to hide from the spotlight. Somehow,
some critics saw Lin s Chinese heritage as an issue for this design this work (but how one can make a
successful argument for this theory is beyond me). Nonetheless, the project continued and the
monument was erected, along with other sculptures. Lin had to negotiate with the creators of this work
and allow monumental sculptures to be produced. However, she was worried that these sculptures
would take away attention from the monument she designed, so she negotiated that the two
monuments be kept relatively separate (there was also a Women s Memorial for the work that women
conducted during the war). The meaning and appreciation for this work definitely managed to gain
many followers, as this work become more appreciated.

The book and the movie of the same name, The house of sand and fog which is a movie about the
conflict that arises over who is rightful owner of a small bungalow along the California coastline. The
story in of itself is amazingly refreshing as the whole story doesn t really have a protagonist or
antagonist because at points in the story all characters are a little bit of both.
The book s and the follow up movie s main theme are about how different people s hopes can collide
and how dangerous it is when they do. (Perelman, 2003) The novel was well written and unique whilst

He went from a wealthy apartment to Kathy s beach bungalow also in part because it reminded him of
a house he once had along the Caspian Sea. Behrani moves in quickly with his wife Naderah and his

he quickly modifies the house in such a manner.
This leads to Kathy s deep insecurity that he would chose the normal family life over life with her and
that he certainly wouldn t want to start a family with her if he is leaving one behind as a part of her did
want to have kids and be a port of a family however the novel implies that her husband was not of the

Kathy finds herself sleeping in her car in the one place she felt safe, in front of her bungalow and

Criticism In Animal Farm And The Prophet s Hair
Literature generally reflects life. It doesn t just describe the events; it creates characters and conflicts
to help the reader better understand the meaning of the events. Modern literature is often linked to
ideology, either supporting or discriminating it. George Orwell s Animal Farm and Salman Rushdie s
The Prophet s Hair are among the literary texts that attack the ideologies, Communism and Islam
respectively. Even though the texts are written in the genres that are usually used to support the
principles and ideas of the philosophy they promote, Animal Farm and The Prophet s Hair undermine
these philosophies. There are certain similarities in the way G.Orwell and S.Rushdie discriminate the
ideologies in question; however, some differences ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First of all, the tone of describing events and characters in both texts is sarcastic. Humorous undertone
is expressed by different means: caricatures, contrasts and hyberbolisations in Animal Farm; high
diction and exaggeration in The Prophet s Hair ( procession , endless ululating crocodiles of
lamentation , ramifications , massive police search ). Moreover, both protagonists, Napoleon and
Hashim, are obsessed with the idea. Napoleon puts in place any means to achieve his goal; and
Hashim becomes a different person, betraying his own principles, in order to satisfy the requirements
of his new ideas. Worship of the ideology, be it Communism or Islam, is at the core of the conflicts. In
addition, both characters use their ideologies, but not common sense and consciousness, to justify their
acts. Napoleon s every new decision, even the most abnormal, is supported by Surely, comrades, you
do not want Jones back? ; by Jones implying the old regime. After these words every argument
becomes unanswerable. For his part Hashim uses religion to justify his greed and passion. He tells
himself: ...the Prophet would have disapproved mightily of this relic worship: he abhorred the idea of
being deified, so by keeping this rotting hair from its mindless devotees, I perform do I not? a finer

Isolation In M. L. Stedman s The Light Between Oceans
The chains of the decision wrap themselves insidiously around his torso, binding the man while the
woman sits smiling in the corner ignoring his pleas. Sometimes the cold metal shifts and loosens its
harsh grip when the child rests her small hands on them or the woman gets up and whispers in his ear,
but never long enough to let him forget. Just like these constraints, Tom Sherbourne faces suffocating
guilt about failing to report Lucy and Frank s mysterious arrival to Janus and subsequently claiming
the girl as his own daughter with his wife Isabel in M.L. Stedman s The Light Between Oceans.

However, Tom originally found solace in the removal from society as it helped ease the memories of
the war and his childhood with its simplicity and predictability. As the couple settles and Lucy arrives,
the motif of isolation and the island itself darkens to represent a prison, entrapping Tom and
overwhelming him with the lies, guilt and knowledge of Hannah suffering miles away. Unlike if Tom
were on the mainland where it is much more difficult to escape the constant reminder of their choice,
he manages to subdue his restless conscience at times so that isolation lulls him with music of the lie
(159). Isabel experiences a similar effect brought on by the years of seclusion. During her cathartic
visit with Ralph, Isabel admits to the powerful force of the island on her judgement: Janus was real.
Lucy was real. Everything else was just make belief (310). Isolation makes it easier for both Isabel

Comparing the Female Protagonists in Groundhog Day and A P
Role of the Female Protagonists in Groundhog Day and A P
Groundhog Day, starring Bill Murray, is a film about a television weatherman named Phil who relives
the same day, 2 March, over and over again. A P is a short story by John Updike in which a cashier,
Sammy, has his routine day disrupted when three girls wearing swimming suits stroll into the grocery
store where he works and are confronted by the manager. Though their storylines vary greatly, in both
works the main character in each is a self centered, condescending male who eventually realises the
flaws in his character. This realisation is, in part, brought out by supernatural forces in Groundhog
Day and by a manager s harsh words in A P. However, in each ... Show more content on

Unlike Phil, she never tells a lie or says a harsh word about anyone. The character of Queenie is less
developed she is only shown though the narrator s eyes as she walks through the supermarket with her
two friends. However, she still represents something that Sammy is not: she is a leader and she is
blithely unconventional; she is a challenge to the status quo. When Sammy sees the girls he comments
You know it s one thing to have a girl in a bathing suit down on the beach. Where . . . nobody can look
at each other much anyway, and another thing in the cool of the A P under the fluorescent lights . . .
Sammy says nothing to indicate that he disagrees with the social norm. Queenie, however, sees no
reason to adhere to such conventions. When scolded by the manager, she replies by saying, We are
decent . It never occurs to her that what she has been doing might not be acceptable. Thus, Rita, the
sensitive, caring person, and Queenie, the non conformist, act as possible role models for the male
protagonists to aspire to:
The attraction Phil feels toward Rita and Sammy feels toward Queenie is the motivating force that
compels the men to change. Phil s attraction to

However, also in the decades before 1992, the principle influenced to a large extent the evolution of
the European Communities.
As P. De Pasquale lines out, there had been an increasingly frequent recourse to Article 235 of the EC
treaty (later on art. 308 EC), which enhances the competences of the Community for the purpose of
crating a common market . The Community exercised its power in fields that where not explicitly
listed in any Treaty, but which it identified as sensible sectors (e.g. monetary policy). This ambiguous
development alarmed the Member States that subsequently pointed out the principle of subsidiarity, as
they wanted to secure their protagonist role within the process of European integration.
The first functional achievements for the Member States took place at the beginnings of the 70s with
the so called Tindeman report. In this report of the Commission on the European Union (5/1975) the
principle is explicitly mentioned. It contains the idea that the objective of the Community should not
be becoming a centralized super state , but rather should concentrate on attributing more powers to
regional and national institutions.
A second weighty step was taken through a draft resolution (Draft Treaty Establishing the European
Union) written by A. Spinelli, adopted by the European Parliament in 1984. Again, it was affirmed
that the Union should be regarded as a proper juridical person whose

Role Of A Third Party For A Peace Operations Effort
Shamella Tribble PUBP 651 Analysis Paper The role of a third party in a peace operations effort can
be categorized as fragile and easily misconstrued. These groups can include international
governments, UN and even NATO just to name a few. Their tasks mainly rely on incomplete data,
inaccurate assumptions and the pressure from the outside world to fix the conflict all within a span of
a CNN news hour. There are many factors which are taken into consideration by these groups. These
factors are used to determine the plan and ultimately the overall success of the peace keeping mission.
The plan can include funding, demobilization, reintegration and long term peace. These issues when

downfall of peace operations but the call for immediate action and even faster resolution often is. The
10 minute segment we see on the news channel on our way to work shows us the most gritty and
violent piece of information and we take our demands to the government in an effort to stop the
violence. Weak actors will want to socialize the conflict that is, to enlist allies in their cause against a
greater power and to increase the perception of suffering (Bajraktari and Parajon 2007, par. 5). With
this motivation the third party must now gather the advisors and top personnel to devise a plan that
fixes all atrocities taking place on the nightly news. The international community would do well to
recognize the danger of calibrating its responses to the substance and timing of the information it
receives from media reports (Bajraktari and Parajon 2007, par. 6). There is no mistake that action
should be taken as quickly as possible to diffuse the conflict as much as possible but the overall goal

year because it was when the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the first GMO, a

Machiavelli The Prince Chapter 6 Summary
D.I.Y. Empire
In The Prince, Machiavelli discusses ways in which a ruler should obtain power and maintain power,
emphasizing the concept of gaining power through virtue versus fortune. Virtue, or virtu in the
original Italian, is defined as the masculine quality of power, and not necessarily tied to ideas of
morality as it is in the English definition.
Gaining power through virtue is the process of gaining power through one s own ability, while gaining
power through fortune is the process of gaining power through means not related to one s own ability
such as wealth or another s grace. In Chapter 6 of The Prince, Machiavelli discusses principalities
gained through virtue and their characteristics.
Rulers who wish to gain such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His enemies are those of the older order, who did well under it and are reluctant to change to a new
order. His allies are those who would do well under the new order but are, as Machiavelli puts it,
lukewarm and, therefore, aren t entirely dedicated. This is in part due to their fear of the new prince s
enemies, those who do not want a new order, and in part due to their skepticism in the ability of the
prince to impose this new order.
As such, it is very dangerous to impose a new order where one may face attack by hostile forces and
have only lukewarm defenders of the new order. It is then necessary to examine how the prince will
utilize his virtue. If he is to beg and ask others for help, he is then seen as week and cannot accomplish
his goal. The alternative is to use force , to arm themselves, and to literally force those who do not
believe in the new order to believe. After all, human nature is changeable and easily changed, but
difficult to maintain in a certain persuasion, after which force is necessary to maintain it. And once
created through great difficulty, it is then easy to maintain, as under the prince s rule, the need for
force will lessen, since those who would rebel are eliminated and the ruler gains reputation and respect
from his subjects.
The examples of such principalities and rulers Machiavellie provides are of Moses, Cyrus, Romulus
and Theseus. In the first example of Moses, Machiavelli admits that the lines are a bit

1963 and 1970. The first one, written in 1963, was never published in its full form besides in La

publicly published, but on October 6, 1970, the third manifesto was received by the Quebec press and
read one week later on the radio and television . This manifesto compared the situation of the workers
in Quebec with slavery, and labeled bankers, politicians, and many others as professional swindlers
and robbers. Repetition of lines such as; We have had our fill, Yes, there are reasons why you, (person

The Economic Policies Of Supply Side Economics
Ever wondered why you have to pay those extra couple of cents at the grocery store? Or why gas
prices seem to be constantly fluctuating? The answer lies within a nation s economic policy. Economic
policy is the actions taken by a government to influence its economy. Types of economic policy
actions can include setting interest rates through a federal reserve, regulating the level of government
expenditures, creating private property rights, and setting tax rates. Economic policy hopes to
accomplish economic growth and a stable economy. More specifically, the federal government hopes
to accomplish stable prices, economic growth, and full employment by its economic policy.
Economists debate over three economic policies: supply side ... Show more content on

The methods that supply side economics uses to improve economic growth are to lower marginal
taxes and less government regulation. Under President Ronald Reagan, Congress passed a plan that
would slash taxes by $749 billion over five years. As a result, Reagan was called a great advocate for
supply side economics and was praised for his great leadership. Although supply side economics is
based on the idea of encouraging people to work harder, it also seems to not always work. For
example, Congress passed the cut in tax rates after Reagan was elected, but tax revenues did not rise.
This goes to show that other economic policies need to be examined in order for the economy to be
successful.
Demand side economics is based on the belief that the most important thing affecting economic
activity and thus resulting in the most stable economy is consumer demand for goods and services.
Also called Keynesian economics, demand side economics was developed after the Great Depression
when supply side economics fell through. Demand side economics was founded by John Maynard
Keynes and is based on aggregate demand. Aggregate demand is the total level of demand for desired
goods and services, which is made up of the sum of consumption expenditure, investment expenditure,
government expenditure, and net exports. Demand side economics utilizes methods such as increasing
the buying power of the lower and middle classes, which increases the demand for more goods

Goodfellas Analysis Essay
GoodFellas
Intro
At the beginning of the 1970s, two men, by the names of Martin Scorcese and Robert De Niro, met
and started an extremely successful and world renowned string of movie director/actor collaborations.
Over the course of 22 years, spawning from 1973, with their first film Mean Streets, to 1995, with their
most recent work Casino, the duo paired up for 8 movies, most of which are considered some of the
greatest films of all time. The most notable, however, would have to be their 1990 movie Goodfellas, a
classic film which was nominated for 6 oscars, winning one, and named the greatest film of all time
by British film magazine Total Film, an organized crime movie which is one of my favorite movies.
Describe the story ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The character becomes in conflict with himself when he meets and marries a girl by the name of
Karen Friedman, which makes him reconsider his life as a gangster. However, he realizes that he is too
deep into it and can not walk away. Despite this, for most of the film, he remains his calm, composed
and likeable self, as he is shown as the only sane person of the crew. The catalyst to his character
change is drugs. Once he starts dealing and using heroine and cocaine, he immediately becomes a
jumpy and paranoid man, who is unable to keep his cool. His drug activities and incarceration lose
him the respect of Jimmy Conway and made man Paul Cicero, who he becomes in conflict with,
which makes him a marked man.
Setting
The film starts out in a predominantly Italian American neighbourhood in Brooklyn, New York in the
mid 1950s. The values that were held the highest at that time in place were family and money. The
film s other major setting is John F Kennedy Airport, which is the scene of many of the hijackings and
robberies that occur in the movie.
Themes
The two major themes in this movie is friendship and greed, and the two themes often come in conflict
with each other. The mafia is made up of a very select few individuals, who are together all the time
and don t affiliate with outsiders. This makes them grow strong bonds and develop friendships with

Similarities Between Bend It Like Beckham And Slumdog...
Bend it Like Beckham and Slumdog Millionaire have given me very strong impressions of Indian
people and culture.
Bend it Like Beckham showed me a lot about modern Indian culture, specifically Indians living in
England. In this film, Jess s Sikh family is very religious. Jess s sister; Pinky s wedding was a great
example of modern India. You can see the celebrations, the food and the clothing. You can always see
the family talking to the painting of Guru Nanak/Babaji and their traditional Indian greetings. Their
one goal in life is to have their daughters prepared and ready for marriage. They have expectations to
live up to, so they did not like the idea of Jess playing soccer.

Exploitation of women and children is also shown in this film. Once again, it is something I knew was
there but I didn t realise how bad and how much of it there really is. The blinding scene was definitely
one that stayed in my mind. The fact that somebody would purposely take away somebody s vital
senses, and blind somebody, much less a child, for their own benefit, shocked me to the core. What s
even more scary for me is this is based on what actually happens in India. Turning children into
beggars, making women into prostitutes is a normal regular thing. This shocks me so much because of
my values. To me, children and women deserve to live a normal happy life. For children, they deserve
a happy, loving childhood and to have a great future. I think because I was raised in these
circumstances that I find it difficult to imagine any other child to not have the same benefits. For
women, they should have the same opportunities and lifestyle choices as men. Not to be turned into
what Latika was, somebody forced to get married to somebody she didn t love and be used for sex and
to be a servant for that man. It s simply not

A Wrinkle In Time Analysis
A Wrinkle in Time was written by Madeleine L Engle, an award winning John Newberry Medal
author. She was born on November 29, 1918, wrote the book A Wrinkle in Time that became
published in 1962. Following that, L Engle wrote the sequels which included A Wind in Door, A Swift
Tilting Planet, Many Waters, and An Acceptable Time. In the novel, Margaret Meg Murry, Charles
Wallace Murry, and Calvin O Keefe are given a task which leads them to save Meg s father, Mr.
Murry. Throughout their journey, they face many sources of evil. The evils that they face in the novel
are The Black Thing, The Man with Red Eyes, and IT. Even though there are evil forces in their
expedition, the three children, Mr. Murry, the Mrs. W s, and more people they meet are good who are
all working against the strong, and overpowering darkness of the evil to conquer it. One of the first
evil forces the kids and the Mrs. W s run into is The Black Thing. They first run into it whenever they
are leaving the earth s atmosphere. Meg looked. The dark shadow was still there. It had not lessened
or dispersed with the coming of night. And where the shadow was the stars were not visible. What
could there be about a shadow that was so terrifying that she knew that there had never been before or
ever would be again, anything that would chill her with a fear that was beyond shuddering, beyond
crying or screaming, beyond the possibility of comfort? (L Engle 81). The Black Thing obviously

Marketing Strategy Essay
METHODOLOGY
Objective of the project
We currently have a prototype of a product which is a new web application that would combine
groupware tools and social media. It is only a prototype however, and the company still wants to come
up with ways to improve it by either adding or removing features from it. A marketing strategy was
discussed and agreed on in which we launched a marketing web campaign on Facebook and WeChat
to use the feedback of the participants in order to make changes to the prototype as we see fit.
Frameworks for analysis
As the use of social media grows, the need for effective metrics becomes more and more significant.
On balance, companies don t want to get trapped measuring the wrong data, or being flooded with too

Traditional product analytics is usually metrics focused, and the function normally depends on
gathering as much quantity of data as possible on net promoter scores, cost of acquisition, conversion
rates, retention rates and so on.
Happiness:
Happiness focuses on information points like user surveys, where users tell you how much they like
the product.
Engagement:
Level of user involvement, typically measured via behavioral proxies such as frequency, intensity, or
depth of interaction over some time period.
Adoption:
New users of a site or app. Most users just try a new feature because it is new, instead of having an
inherent goal to adopt it because it is good. Hence it is important to understand the actual product and
what constitutes success by understanding how the user flow works from a design pattern standpoint.
Retention:
The rate at which existing users are returning. That means customers are interested in this site or app.
Task Success:
Traditional behavioral metrics of user experience, such as efficiency (e.g. time to complete a task),
effectiveness (e.g. percent of tasks completed), and error rate. This category is most applicable to
areas of your product that are very task focused, such as search or an upload flow.

How Does Black Elk Speak
Black Elk Speaks by John G. Neihardt is a story told for readers that take them on an adventure to
knowing and caring about Black Elk himself and his tribe of his people. Neihardt talked about the
spiritual visions of Black Elk that preceded sacred ceremonial dances, such as the Heyoka Ceremony,
which followed Black Elk s Dog Vision. Neihardt discussed the feelings and emotions that Black Elk
felt from the visions he was experiencing; the sorrow that overwhelmed him as he witnessed the loss
of loved ones and the conflict that he continually suffered while taking on such an essential duty for
his tribe. Black Elk recognized that his people and their culture were starting to dwindle away.

The Use Of Control And Its Effects On People And Affect...
Politicking is the actions of using power and information to move resources towards preferred
outcomes for your fellow colleagues and/or the organization s interests. Politicking is used to
influence people and affect decisions. Locus of control is related to a person s belief on how much
influence they think they have over external events and outcomes. The higher someone s locus of
control is, the more politicking they participate in because they believe that the more engaged,
assertive, and friendly they are to those they interact with, the more control they will have on final
decisions.
The three dimensions that should be considered before engaging in politicking are: Analyzing and
knowing your own strengths and weaknesses; Reading and understanding others verbal and nonverbal
language; and Assessing accurately the organization and its goals. Intentional understanding of these
areas will help you develop a politicking strategy to empower yourself, your coworkers, benefiting the
bottom line while accomplishing important organizational goals.
Having a clearer understanding of what politicking is and how individuals utilize these strengths can
definitely help me understand how to use politicking to my advantage in future business interactions. I
have engaged in politicking without understanding what it was that I was essentially doing. For
instance, while employed at a credit union in the headquarters office, I often befriend those who

The Psychology Of Conversion Therapy
What Conversation Therapy Actually Does
While reading Hard Rock Return to Prison by Etheridge Knight one may start to think of the effects of

society and to better understand this believe and practice one will have to explore the psychology of

practices that falsely claim to change a person s sexual orientation or gender identity or expression

LGBT people to make them suffer while looking at homosexual pornography in order to convert them

What Is The Cause Of The French Revolution
The French Revolution
Many factors went into the starting the French Revolution. One of the main contributing factors was
the lack of a fair hierarchy in the French society. There were 3 main classes and only 3% of people
were inside of the top 2. This created a problem as the first 2 had twice the representation that the third
did in the government. The first Estate was made up of the clergy from the Roman Catholic Church.
They also owned almost 10% of the land inside of France. The Second Estate was the rich nobles.
They owned almost 20% of the land. Both of the classes paid almost no taxes and shot down almost

They fled to Varennes, but were soon found and were taken back to Paris as crowds jeered at them.
France then found themselves at war with Austria and Prussia. This was not what France needed in
this time of civil unrest and a starved economy. In 1792 mobs in Paris attacked the Tuileries. They
were extremely unhappy and they stormed the Tuileries where the royal family was being held. They
wanted a new constitution and a convention instead of a national assembly. The Legislative assembly
soon began to dissolve away and was replaced by the National Convention. The National Convention
debated for 6 weeks on the execution of Louis XVI. On January 21st the king was sent to the
guillotine where he was beheaded. Then in 1794 the mastermind behind many of the actions that
occurred during the French Revolution Robespierre was set to be beheaded. He was accused of being

What Is Huntington And His Criticism
Huntington and his Critics Introduction: The clash of civilization is a theory by Samuel Huntington. In
this theory, Huntington claims that the clash is inevitable. There is a new world order we are facing
that include major civilization fighting for their cultural existence. On the other hand, many scholars
opposed Huntington s ideology about the clash of civilization some of them called him a great theorist
using recycled conflicts as a method. In this paper, I will summarize Huntington ideology and I will

The Iowa State Teaching Standards
The Iowa State teaching standards helped me throughout student teaching, and prepared me to be an
effective classroom teacher. Through lesson planning, delivery, and reflection I was able to see how
the standards were interdependent with one another. A great lesson cannot be created only using one
standard, several standards should be used in every lesson I create as a teacher. Below I will explain
how the standards better prepared me for the classroom while interrelating them throughout student
teaching. During student teaching both of my placements were in math classrooms. With math being
my endorsement, having a strong understanding of the content and knowing different methods
(standards I XII) lead to success with my students As a future teacher, I believe these two standards
are the most important. I need to create learning experiences that are meaningful and age appropriate
for my students. I created a lesson for my 8th grade students that showed the importance of content
and methods of teaching. In this lesson, students had to solve questions involving the 8th grade math
standards, but the questions were made in puzzle pieces. Students had to match the question and
answers, making a shape once the problems were completed. This is called a tangram, which is a
concept students had learned in an earlier grade. This lesson used a variety of strategies and met the
needs of my diverse learners (standards III V). The puzzle pieces had students use creative thinking

Frederick Henry Discovered Essay
Frederick Henry Discovered In A Farewell to Arms, Ernest Hemingway uses his idea of the code hero
to introduce us to an amazing character. Hemingway takes his own ideas and conveys them through
Frederic Henry. During World War I Frederic Henry proves to us that war and lost love can change a
strong and willing man. Most men are not willing to change and Frederic Henry realized that in order
for him to survive the many problems he was faced with, he would have to become a more mature
man, love and solider.
Hemingway s code hero is portrayed in most every novel that Hemingway wrote. He takes his main
character and makes him someone that is hard to change and even harder to make realize the situations
around him. His code ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was a performance for Jordan (the main character in For Whom the Bell Tolls) because he felt
that since this was his job in the war, people might look on his actions for years to come. He wanted
people to remember his good performance. The code hero does not want to do anything that could
affect what his orders are. Frederic especially wanted to do everything possible in the war that he
could. He must keep himself in good health in order to do his duty and serve in the war (Hemingway,
A Farewell to Arms 63). Although Hemingway tried to portray Henry as a well established man, he
sometimes is confused and not sure of what to do. What Hemingway portrays, in fact, is a good, albeit
a disappointed and disillusioned, man trying to fulfill his various obligations (Nolan 271). He is trying
to make his relationship last since he is in love and he is also trying to take care of his duty s in the
war.
Although the story is told through first person narration, we know that Frederic is a clean shaven man
who is tall in stature and although he is not handsome, he is attractive which makes him fit into
Hemingway s code hero. He shows us that he is a strong man and you realize this by everything he has
to go through during his time of service. He is a strong man by fighting for a country that isn t even is.
By fighting for another country he is trying to discover himself and he wants from life. He is trying to

Short Essay On Hades
I m finally venturing out of the Egyptian pantheon and moving north to explore the Greek Gods.
Specifically, Hades.
Why Hades? I think that a lot of people have a way of classifying Hades as Satan, the Devil, etc. I
wanted to do more in depth research to learn about the god himself, away from all the preconceived
notions.
Hades was the eldest son of Cronus and Rhea (king and queen of the Titans) and brother to Zeus,
Poseidon, Hera, Demeter, and Hestia. Cronus was told that one day his rule would be usurped by one
of his children and felt the best way to avoid said coup was to swallow any and all children he sired.

Border Security Essay
There are tons and tons of the supposed problems with immigration like, the threat to the U.S.

security problems they make pose no direct security threat, but millions of undocumented migrants
being in the United States distort the law, distracts resources, and it makes an effective cover for
terrorists and criminals. The solution for this problem focuses exclusively on border security. Many
people believe immigration has been a problem for a long time, but it become a matter of national
security shortly after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. After the attacks, the George W. Bush
administration changed the role of immigration agencies, including them in a strategy to combat
terrorism. The Department of Homeland security took over jurisdiction of Immigration and Customs
Enforcement (ICE). At that point immigrants were established as a threat to internal security. There is
many solutions to this growing problem but the best way is to maintain and increase the efforts to

Essay Comparing Frankenstein And Modern Prometheus
With hundreds of thousands of songs, books, movies, and art dedicated to this one emotion, there is
plenty of evidence that when it comes to human interaction love is an extremely powerful emotion
that can have a transforming effect. In contrast, a lack of love can also have effects, especially dire or
negative ones for those who are in need. Behind Mary Shelley s Frankenstein; or, the Modern
Prometheus is a main character who cherishes himself, his own pride, and has grand plans in mind for
his legacy, all of which could possibly have positive results, but do not feature a plan or a personality
ripe with love. In contrast, Goethe s Faust also features a character who is strong willed and very

Despite the very poignant quote of A man sees in the world what he carries in his heart (Goethe Part
1), Faust still yearns for more than the heart, more than what love can offer to one s life. He seems
pained by the lack of knowledge in his life: Oh, God! Art is long / And life is short (558 559), but
when speaking of what he can feel, the lament is not nearly as strong:
You can t, if you can t feel it, if it never / Rises from the soul, and sways / The heart of every single
hearer, / With deepest power, in simple ways. / You ll sit forever, gluing things together, / Cooking up
a stew from other s scraps, / Blowing on a miserable fire, / Made from your heap of dying ash. / Let
apes and children praise your art, / If their admiration s to your taste, / But you ll never speak from
heart to heart, / Unless it rises up from your heart s space. (535 545)
Faust has perhaps already resigned himself to a loveless life, or perhaps his strong feelings for acclaim
and knowledge cloud the possibilities of what love can bring to one s life, if one only lets it rise

Future Availability of 3D Printers and Its Effects
Almost every houshold has a 2D printer. This paper will talk about the 3D printer, and how it has
saved lives, made lives easier, allowed people create amazing objects with the printer, made
production faster and cheaper, and how the printer will revolutionize the world as we know it. The 3D
printer goes back to 1976, around the time that the Inkjet printer was invinted. Charles Hull changed
everything by making the first commercial 3D printer. He offered it for sale through his company 3D
Sytems in 1986. The way Charles s printer worked was via a technology called stereolithography.
Stereolithography is a technique that uses a laser to solidify an ultraviolet sensitive polymer material.
The technology remained unkown from the general public until the second decade of the 21st century.
Manufactures used 3D printers secretly to make prototypes of products for 20 years. In 1999 the first
lab made organ was implanted into patients that were going through urinary bladder augmentation,
using 3D artificial scaffold layerd with their own cells. This technology was made by scientists at the
Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine. The technology opended the door to developing
other strategies for engineering organs, including printing them, Since they are made from the patients
cells, there is little risk of failure. In 2002 scientists engineered a minature working kidney that is able
to filter blood abd produce diluted urine in an animal. This led them to the

  • 2. Why Is Karl Marx Considered Radical Karl Marx and His Radical Views Karl Marx[i] Karl Marx is among the most important and influential of all modern philosophers who expressed his ideas on humans in nature. According to the University of Dayton, the human person is part of a larger history of life on this planet. Through technology humans have the power to have an immense effect on that life. [ii] The people of his time found that the impact of the Industrial Revolution would further man s success within this world and would ensure his success as a species. Marx was extremely radical in finding that this was a positive impact on humans in nature. In order to understand why his views were considered radical, it is important to understand his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Marx believed the workers were not collecting the benefits of the Industrial Revolution. Marx says that men are forced to work for natural survival. Marx also suggests that working men only have time to engage in the basic animalistic tendencies of a quest for survival. He says that man becomes alienated from nature and other humans as well. Marx is basically saying that man lived day by day, by day and he has nothing else to really live for. Marx thought that as the workers grew stronger, they would eventually rebel against the organization. In doing this, they would create a classless society where everyone would be equal and all property would be abolished. The basis of Marxism is the conviction that socialism is inevitable. Marx believed the free enterprise system, or capitalism, was doomed and that socialism was the only option[iv]. Obviously, this was not a favored philosophy with expanding industrialists, entrepreneurs, and existing political systems of the mid nineteenth century [v]. Marx wrote The Communist Manifesto with the German radical, Fredriech Engels, Fredriech Engels[vi] who was also Marx s best friend. The Communist Manifesto was a pamphlet written on the eve of the German Revolution in 1848. In his essay, Marx explains his radical theories on politics and history. Marx and Engels also examined the positive aspects of capitalism in The Communist Manifesto. They thought the bourgeoisie had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Maya Lin Vietnam Veterans Memorial Analysis 1. The artist of the memorial, Maya Lin, is an American of Asian descent who is famous for her sculptures and land art. Her most famous work, the Vietnam Memorial, was chosen in a contest, and her designs both mesmerized and angered many people. Since them, works and designs she has created for competitions have been mainly memorials and remembrances based on historical events. Her works are intended to use the natural texture and geology of the space around the monument to its advantage in its creation. 2. The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, a non profit organization, began collecting private funds and donations to create a memorial. Over 8 million dollars were raised. The Vietnam War Memorial is considered the best example of site specific art in the contemporary movement. 7. When Lin won the competition for the designing of the monument, a lot of sceptics managed to successfully take apart her design when she unveiled it. Some critics claimed it looked like a scar; an embarrassment for United States (as it was moving along with the hill it was created on, and therefore looked hiding), while others saw something that was trying to hide from the spotlight. Somehow, some critics saw Lin s Chinese heritage as an issue for this design this work (but how one can make a successful argument for this theory is beyond me). Nonetheless, the project continued and the monument was erected, along with other sculptures. Lin had to negotiate with the creators of this work and allow monumental sculptures to be produced. However, she was worried that these sculptures would take away attention from the monument she designed, so she negotiated that the two monuments be kept relatively separate (there was also a Women s Memorial for the work that women conducted during the war). The meaning and appreciation for this work definitely managed to gain many followers, as this work become more appreciated. 8. Elements: a. Shape: The monument had a V shape and each wing of the V was about 250 feet long. The walls of the V ascended with the hill it was built on until the highest point was 10 ... • 8. House of Sand and Fog, Analysis Carlos Rivas English 2341 Professor Scott Whitebird March 10, 2011 The book and the movie of the same name, The house of sand and fog which is a movie about the conflict that arises over who is rightful owner of a small bungalow along the California coastline. The story in of itself is amazingly refreshing as the whole story doesn t really have a protagonist or antagonist because at points in the story all characters are a little bit of both. The book s and the follow up movie s main theme are about how different people s hopes can collide and how dangerous it is when they do. It doesn t just describe the events; it creates characters and conflicts to help the reader better understand the meaning of the events. Modern literature is often linked to ideology, either supporting or discriminating it. George Orwell s Animal Farm and Salman Rushdie s The Prophet s Hair are among the literary texts that attack the ideologies, Communism and Islam respectively. Even though the texts are written in the genres that are usually used to support the principles and ideas of the philosophy they promote, Animal Farm and The Prophet s Hair undermine these philosophies. First of all, the tone of describing events and characters in both texts is sarcastic. Humorous undertone is expressed by different means: caricatures, contrasts and hyberbolisations in Animal Farm; high diction and exaggeration in The Prophet s Hair ( procession , endless ululating crocodiles of lamentation , ramifications , massive police search ). Moreover, both protagonists, Napoleon and Hashim, are obsessed with the idea. Napoleon puts in place any means to achieve his goal; and Hashim becomes a different person, betraying his own principles, in order to satisfy the requirements of his new ideas. Worship of the ideology, be it Communism or Islam, is at the core of the conflicts. In addition, both characters use their ideologies, but not common sense and consciousness, to justify their acts. Napoleon s every new decision, even the most abnormal, is supported by Surely, comrades, you do not want Jones back? ; by Jones implying the old regime. The Community exercised its power in fields that where not explicitly listed in any Treaty, but which it identified as sensible sectors (e.g. monetary policy). This ambiguous development alarmed the Member States that subsequently pointed out the principle of subsidiarity, as they wanted to secure their protagonist role within the process of European integration. The first functional achievements for the Member States took place at the beginnings of the 70s with the so called Tindeman report. In this report of the Commission on the European Union (5/1975) the principle is explicitly mentioned. It contains the idea that the objective of the Community should not be becoming a centralized super state , but rather should concentrate on attributing more powers to regional and national institutions. Virtue, or virtu in the original Italian, is defined as the masculine quality of power, and not necessarily tied to ideas of morality as it is in the English definition. Gaining power through virtue is the process of gaining power through one s own ability, while gaining power through fortune is the process of gaining power through means not related to one s own ability such as wealth or another s grace. His enemies are those of the older order, who did well under it and are reluctant to change to a new order. His allies are those who would do well under the new order but are, as Machiavelli puts it, lukewarm and, therefore, aren t entirely dedicated. This is in part due to their fear of the new prince s enemies, those who do not want a new order, and in part due to their skepticism in the ability of the prince to impose this new order. As such, it is very dangerous to impose a new order where one may face attack by hostile forces and have only lukewarm defenders of the new order. It is then necessary to examine how the prince will utilize his virtue. If he is to beg and ask others for help, he is then seen as week and cannot accomplish his goal. The alternative is to use force , to arm themselves, and to literally force those who do not believe in the new order to believe. After all, human nature is changeable and easily changed, but difficult to maintain in a certain persuasion, after which force is necessary to maintain it. And once created through great difficulty, it is then easy to maintain, as under the prince s rule, the need for force will lessen, since those who would rebel are eliminated and the ruler gains reputation and respect from his subjects. The answer lies within a nation s economic policy. Economic policy is the actions taken by a government to influence its economy. Types of economic policy actions can include setting interest rates through a federal reserve, regulating the level of government expenditures, creating private property rights, and setting tax rates. Economic policy hopes to accomplish economic growth and a stable economy. More specifically, the federal government hopes to accomplish stable prices, economic growth, and full employment by its economic policy. Under President Ronald Reagan, Congress passed a plan that would slash taxes by $749 billion over five years. As a result, Reagan was called a great advocate for supply side economics and was praised for his great leadership. Although supply side economics is based on the idea of encouraging people to work harder, it also seems to not always work. For example, Congress passed the cut in tax rates after Reagan was elected, but tax revenues did not rise. This goes to show that other economic policies need to be examined in order for the economy to be successful. Demand side economics is based on the belief that the most important thing affecting economic activity and thus resulting in the most stable economy is consumer demand for goods and services. Also called Keynesian economics, demand side economics was developed after the Great Depression when supply side economics fell through. Demand side economics was founded by John Maynard Keynes and is based on aggregate demand. • 27. What Is The Cause Of The French Revolution The French Revolution Many factors went into the starting the French Revolution. One of the main contributing factors was the lack of a fair hierarchy in the French society. There were 3 main classes and only 3% of people were inside of the top 2. This created a problem as the first 2 had twice the representation that the third did in the government. The first Estate was made up of the clergy from the Roman Catholic Church. They also owned almost 10% of the land inside of France. The Second Estate was the rich nobles. They owned almost 20% of the land. Both of the classes paid almost no taxes and shot down almost any ideas of the Enlightenment. The Third Estate American and French Revolutions. American and French Revolutions. ... They were extremely unhappy and they stormed the Tuileries where the royal family was being held. They wanted a new constitution and a convention instead of a national assembly. The Legislative assembly soon began to dissolve away and was replaced by the National Convention. The National Convention debated for 6 weeks on the execution of Louis XVI. On January 21st the king was sent to the guillotine where he was beheaded. Then in 1794 the mastermind behind many of the actions that occurred during the French Revolution Robespierre was set to be beheaded. • 30. The Iowa State Teaching Standards The Iowa State teaching standards helped me throughout student teaching, and prepared me to be an effective classroom teacher. Through lesson planning, delivery, and reflection I was able to see how the standards were interdependent with one another. A great lesson cannot be created only using one standard, several standards should be used in every lesson I create as a teacher. Below I will explain how the standards better prepared me for the classroom while interrelating them throughout student teaching. During student teaching both of my placements were in math classrooms. With math being my endorsement, having a strong understanding of the content and knowing different methods (standards I XII) lead to success with my students As a future teacher, I believe these two standards are the most important. I need to create learning experiences that are meaningful and age appropriate for my students. I created a lesson for my 8th grade students that showed the importance of content and methods of teaching. In this lesson, students had to solve questions involving the 8th grade math standards, but the questions were made in puzzle pieces. Students had to match the question and answers, making a shape once the problems were completed. This is called a tangram, which is a concept students had learned in an earlier grade. This lesson used a variety of strategies and met the needs of my diverse learners (standards III V). The puzzle pieces had students use creative thinking and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Frederick Henry Discovered Essay Frederick Henry Discovered In A Farewell to Arms, Ernest Hemingway uses his idea of the code hero to introduce us to an amazing character. Hemingway takes his own ideas and conveys them through Frederic Henry. During World War I Frederic Henry proves to us that war and lost love can change a strong and willing man. Most men are not willing to change and Frederic Henry realized that in order for him to survive the many problems he was faced with, he would have to become a more mature man, love and solider. Hemingway s code hero is portrayed in most every novel that Hemingway wrote. This was a performance for Jordan (the main character in For Whom the Bell Tolls) because he felt that since this was his job in the war, people might look on his actions for years to come. He wanted people to remember his good performance. The code hero does not want to do anything that could affect what his orders are. Frederic especially wanted to do everything possible in the war that he could. He must keep himself in good health in order to do his duty and serve in the war (Hemingway, A Farewell to Arms 63). Although Hemingway tried to portray Henry as a well established man, he sometimes is confused and not sure of what to do. What Hemingway portrays, in fact, is a good, albeit a disappointed and disillusioned, man trying to fulfill his various obligations (Nolan 271). He is trying to make his relationship last since he is in love and he is also trying to take care of his duty s in the war. Although the story is told through first person narration, we know that Frederic is a clean shaven man who is tall in stature and although he is not handsome, he is attractive which makes him fit into Hemingway s code hero. He shows us that he is a strong man and you realize this by everything he has to go through during his time of service. He is a strong man by fighting for a country that isn t even is. By fighting for another country he is trying to discover himself and he wants from life. He is trying to discover what he truly wants. Even though he is a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Short Essay On Hades I m finally venturing out of the Egyptian pantheon and moving north to explore the Greek Gods. Specifically, Hades. Why Hades? I think that a lot of people have a way of classifying Hades as Satan, the Devil, etc. I wanted to do more in depth research to learn about the god himself, away from all the preconceived notions. Hades was the eldest son of Cronus and Rhea (king and queen of the Titans) and brother to Zeus, Poseidon, Hera, Demeter, and Hestia. Cronus was told that one day his rule would be usurped by one of his children and felt the best way to avoid said coup was to swallow any and all children he sired. The security problems they make pose no direct security threat, but millions of undocumented migrants being in the United States distort the law, distracts resources, and it makes an effective cover for terrorists and criminals. The solution for this problem focuses exclusively on border security. Many people believe immigration has been a problem for a long time, but it become a matter of national security shortly after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. • 36. Future Availability of 3D Printers and Its Effects Almost every houshold has a 2D printer. This paper will talk about the 3D printer, and how it has saved lives, made lives easier, allowed people create amazing objects with the printer, made production faster and cheaper, and how the printer will revolutionize the world as we know it. The 3D printer goes back to 1976, around the time that the Inkjet printer was invinted. Charles Hull changed everything by making the first commercial 3D printer. He offered it for sale through his company 3D Sytems in 1986. In 1999 the first lab made organ was implanted into patients that were going through urinary bladder augmentation, using 3D artificial scaffold layerd with their own cells. This technology was made by scientists at the Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine. The technology opended the door to developing other strategies for engineering organs, including printing them, Since they are made from the patients cells, there is little risk of failure. In 2002 scientists engineered a minature working kidney that is able to filter blood abd produce diluted urine in an animal. This led them to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
