Critical Analysis Of Sustainability Principles
Essay Critical Analysis of Sustainability Principles submitted by: Tanvi Rawat
Student ID: S3523444
Q.2 what is the relationship between sustainability and anthropogenic climate change, and how can an
understanding of these linkages be used to guide policy from the global to the local scale?
Ans. Sustainability is promoting social, economic growth with preserving the environment, whereas
the Anthropogenic Climate change is influencing natural and human living conditions. With an
increase in the risk of disaster which is turning to be a constrain in development and growth. The
anthropogenic generation of greenhouse gases (GHGS) is continuously making the temperature rise.
The energy use for industrial production and goods, services since last 200 years changed the
atmospheric conditions. The contents of greenhouse gases like CO2 (carbon dioxide), N2, O (nitrous
oxide), O3 (tropospheric ozone), CH4 (methane) (Trenberth, 1992), which is the main cause of natural
disaster like draught and flood which ultimately becomes a cause of economic loss. (Pachauri and
Reisinger, 2007) For sample During 1980s the financial misfortunes from dry seasons totalled a few
hundred million U.S. dollars in Africa, its seen that dry spells and surges are more basic since most
recent 30 years, around 25% of the contemporary African populace encounters high water stress.
Around 69% of the populace live under states of relative water wealth. Henceforth the

The Small Business Market Of America Essay
Abstract By reviewing the small business market in America, the question of Why? can be asked. Why
are more and more people leaving established careers to start small businesses and what is driving the
success of these businesses. Steven Jones analyzes this question and looks into one particular small
party planning business and breaks down the vital components of this successful business. Jones also
dissects the scholarly articles of Professors John Seedon and Brendan O Donovan, regarding
command and control, and systems thinking management techniques.
Changing Mindset Case Study Analysis More and more individuals are looking to quit their careers
and to start fresh. As larger companies continue to grow, voids are left in a particular industry or
market. Entrepreneurs are recognizing these voids and taking no time to fill them. With no previous
business model to follow and very little startup capital, it can be desirable to some to take the leap and
start up a small business. With little capital required to being a new small business, there is very little
risk from a financial standpoint. With little capital required to invest and a potentially infinite income,
it is no wonder why more and more people are starting small businesses. (Fairlie, 2015) One particular
industry that continues to rise is the lawn care industry. Typical startup capital for these companies
requires a push lawn mower, a mode of transportation, and associated business licensing fees. A

The War On The World Trade Center
The U.S. soil had previously been unaffected by any type of foreign attack until the turn of the 21st
century which marked a pivotal point. On September 11, 2001, the attack on the World Trade Center
profoundly changed not only U.S. domestic and foreign policies but the world. The research
conducted in this paper will explore the incidents that occurred on the terrorist attack that destroyed
the Twin Towers and devastated the World Trade Center in New York. Many had threatened the U.S.
but none have previously been successful. The impact of 9/11 introduced a new reform that included
war on terrorism worldwide such as the deployment of U.S. military over seas as a result, the
advancement of Homeland Security and subsidiary agencies, the ... Show more content on

The six conspirators linked to the bombing were arrested and sentenced up to 240 years each. In 1995,
Yousef who was directly related to other orchestrated terrorist attacks, had organized an attack
involving 11 international flights in route to the United States from foreign countries by detonating
bombs concurrently. One of the most motivating factors that led up to the September 11, 2001 attack
was the involvement of the United States with foreign policies in the Middle East. This new
implementation of direction and counterterrorism reform policies, derived by the United States
appealed to the Extremist group known as Al Queda, which conspired in the proceedings that occurred
on September 11, 2001 to become recognized.
The shocking actions of September 11, commanded an awakening of the average American from the
false sense of security, trusting that the United States is untouchable from chaos and destruction
imposed upon by foreign enemies. It was on a Tuesday morning at 8:46 a.m., the skies were flawlessly

Piper Alpha Case Studies
Abstract
This research report is about the Piper Alpha Disaster that happened in 1988. Being one of the major
oil production oil rig in the UK, the accident that took place more than 20 years ago caught the
attention of many, especially those in the field. The happening was largely due to the complacency of
the supervisors as well as the safety measures of the management. Using the internet, academic
journals and textbooks available, the research was conducted by referring to various sources of
information regarding the incident. After the explosion there are many new prevention steps taken in
this field of industry as well as new managing system of the offshore regulatory control.

The offshore oil and gas was a very new industry introduced to the United Kingdom very briefly 30
years ago. The naïve government was seduced by the very promising reward of the industry, knowing
that it ll be high risk. The management disregarded adherence to certain safety rules. There were
regulations, but enforcement was not there. The nation and corporate pride rendered everything in
disaster.
2.1.2 Structure and Function
A large fixed platform, Piper Alpha was situated on the Piper oilfield, approximately 120 miles (193
km) northeast of Aberdeen in 474 feet (144 m) of water, and comprised four modules separated by
firewalls. The platform was constructed by McDermott Engineering at Ardersier and UIE at
Cherbourg, with the sections united at Ardersier before tow out during 1975, with production
commencing in late 1976 (Drysdale amp; Slyvester Evans, 1998). The west and east elevation of the
topsides of the Piper Alpha platform are as shown in figures 2 and 3. Module A, the wellhead module
was considered to be the most hazardous were arranged so to provide a maximum separation with
module D, which contain various utilities and also the accommodation deck above. Module comprises
of 36 wellhead which is used to control the flow of hydrocarbons and water from the well.

It may be because of complex, ineffective flow in communication as a result of un integrated
information system in JAS. : Low performance in liquidity may be resulted from poor inventory
management and ineffective costs control. Firstly, JAS is facing the cash flow problem because of
having too many stocks in warehouse. Secondly, un integrated information system brings some
difficulties in costs control. In timely and inaccurate customers financial data makes JAS difficult to
retrieve debtors effectively. 2.2.2 Market The UK Government policies encourage citizens to use more
bicycles instead of other transportations as possible as they can because of the congestion and air
pollution. In addition, increasingly number of people has treated cycling as an exercise, trip and
healthy lifestyle, which promotes the consumption of bicycle. These contribute to the boost of bicycle
industry. However, JAS has gained relatively lower market share over the last few years. The level of
competitive intensity has a significant impact on JAS s sales and profit. Firstly, as a medium sized
company providing high quality bicycles, JAS has been receiving increasing competition from its
existing rivals who offer similar products but relatively lower price because of their economies of
scale. Some rivals benefit from their high production or lower cost of material and labour, leading to
competitive advantage in the marketplace, such as high quality with the relatively lower

Female Orgasm Dysfunction Paper
The sexual topic that I chose to explore for my paper is female orgasm dysfunction (FSD), where
many women, like myself, are unable to experience orgasm through vaginal intercourse. There are
many factors that contribute to a woman s inability, or infrequency to orgasm, such as biological,
psychological, and emotional factors. Being that my personal experiment had to do with factors
associated with personality such as openness to new experiences and shyness, I wanted to explore and
learn about other causes that effect female orgasm. Therefore I chose to read three articles: Personal
Factors that Contribute to or Impair Women s Ability to Achieve Orgasm, Emotional Intelligence and
its Association with Orgasmic Frequency in Women, and Are Orgasms ... Show more content on

In addition, their research yielded in results that showed that the total score of emotional intelligence
was found to be positively correlated with both frequency of orgasm during intercourse and
masturbation; that a high emotional intelligence level contributes to the ability to achieve orgasm
more frequently; and that the proportion of women who report always experiencing orgasm was
greater during masturbation compared with sexual intercourse (Burri, Cherkas Spector, 1933 1934).
One of my critiques of the research has to do with their method of using surveys and questionnaires,
because both methods can result in recall bias, where participants either lie about a response on
purpose or due to lack of memory, which can skew the results. Also, the sole use of twins for this
study seems odd to me, being that twins share the same genetic makeup, which makes me question
whether or not that had any impact on the results. If I were the researchers I would have used both
twins and a general mixture of women, in order to ensure that the overall population of the UK was

How Significant Was the Presence of Foreign Powers as an...
How significant was the presence of foreign powers as an influence on the nature and growth of Arab
nationalism in the years 1900 2001?
During the years 1900 2001 a number of significant interventions occurred which affected the growth
and nature of Arab nationalism. Several key pressures considerably influenced a change in the nature
of nationalism; including, economic levers, agreements and military presenses in the Middle East.
Arab nationalism arose out of the fear of the possibility and later the certainty of European or
American dominance. The emerging ideology believed all Arabs to be united by both a shared
language and history. Foreign intervention in the Middle East long predated the First World War,
dating back to during the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was also true of the Arab fighters in the 1916 Arab revolt aided by the British; they wanted gold
and weapons much more than Arab independence. Cleveland highlights these points and the fact that
the promises made in the correspondence prompted contentment on both sides, as the British wanted
to see the fall of the Ottomans and Hussein wanted leadership. However, McMahon s language was so
ambiguous and so vague..[that it has] given rise to conflicting interpretations over whether Palestine
was included as part of the future independent Arab state . It is for this reason that the Arabs began to
distrust Britain. The correspondence was between the British high commissioner, Sir Henry McMahon
and descendant of the prophet and Arab leader, Sharif Hussein. For the British it was a useful
agreement as they already saw the Ottomans as a threat. However in the long term it caused unrest in
the Middle East and widespread distrust of Britain. The agreement is useful in showing the unclear
language used by the British to avoid either having to give land to the Arabs or create an argument.
Deborah J. Gerner agrees with Cleveland in that secret agreements , caused Britain especially to be
viewed negatively by the Arabs; It is clear from this agreement [Sykes Picot] that Britain had no
intention of fulfilling its commitment to support Arab independence in the Levant at the end of the
war, whatever might have

Essay about A Postmodern Bore
A Postmodern Bore
Imagine, if you will, a world where everyone was the same, where your neighbors had the same
clothes as you did, the same kind of dog, and the same color house as you did. A world where
everyone looked like everyone else, behaved the same, and thought the same. A world characterized
by total and complete conformity through assimilation, incorporation, and deindividualization. A
world where an elite cadre of individuals determined the very shape of reality itself. This world is held
by many scholars to be typifying of one of the major aspects of Postmodernism. Although
Postmodernism refuses to define itself , (Kozinets see later,) it according to many of these scholars
threatens the very existence of civilization as we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A society should not be based on the view of the world from one perspective to the exclusion of all
other perspectives. Rather, it should be able to see all points of view and incorporate them into its
worldview.
But after awhile this philosophy began to be replaced by a new system, a know all, see everything
Orwellian big brother that attempted to maintain a rigid order among individuals, and among their
thoughts, because in order for this diseased system, Postmodernism, to survive, it was necessary for all
men to be exactly equal, in their behavior, in their actions, and in their thoughts. It began with
architecture and art, and then proceeded to infect our individual beliefs and opinions. Whereas once
men were free to hold their own opinions, now all men were required to believe the same beliefs. (As
the Counting Crows have observed, round here, we all look the same. ) According to Habermas, this
new system was created by a flaw in the old one. This flaw lay in the fact that Modernism had no set
of rules for interpersonal contact. Therefore, whenever two peoples individual spheres did come in
contact with one another, each ones sphere was influenced

A Procative Approach To Improving Minor League Baseball...
Under the protection of Major League Baseball s ( MLB ) longtime antitrust exemption, Minor
League Baseball ( MiLB ) has continuously redefined and reshaped itself according to Baseball s
overall needs. But while MLB salaries have increased dramatically since the MLB reserve clause was
broken in 1975, the salaries of minor league players have not followed suit. On February 7, 2014, a
group of minor league players led by former minor leaguer Aaron Senne filed a class action complaint
against MLB and three MLB clubs alleging violations of minimum wage and hour laws. According to
the complaint, most minor leaguer earn between $3,000 and $7,500 working between fifty and seventy
hours per week during the five month season. The wage and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Once a player is placed on a club s 40 man roster, he is entitled to the minimum salary prescribed in
the Basic Agreement, which for 2014 is $500,000 for MLB service and $81,500 for MiLB service.
Historically, while the average minor league salary has risen by just 75 percent since 1976, the
average MLB salary has risen by approximately 2,000 percent thanks in part to union representation
and open markets. Regardless of the legality of the claims raised in Senne, MLB has an ethical
responsibility to change the current system to ensure that minor league players are not living in
poverty by fairly compensating them for their hard work, both financially and with other intrinsic
compensation. A proactive approach that balances the interests of players and the financial needs of
clubs can solve these issues while retaining the development structure that clubs rely on. First and
most simply, MLB should increase monthly salaries for minor league players. Having players paid
below the poverty line is embarrassing for an organization that produces over $8 billion in revenue per
year. To answer this concern, MLB clubs can take advantage of the colossal jumps in television
revenue to increase salaries. MLB can also help, perhaps using some of the $750 million added per
season by their new national media contracts. By multiplying the current figures by 2.5 (see Figure 2),
a structure is created that gives all

The Historical Context Of Palestine
As the depiction of certain historical facts serves the sole purpose of justifying the importance of the
historical context to the conflict, and not the merit of the events themselves, the following are only a
few, yet highly applicable ones to the matter discussed. Briefly going back to ancient history, the
region known today as Palestine was first known as Canaan, which derived its name from a people
who inhabited it between 3000 1500 B.C. They were conquered by a greek people known as
Philistines and also Jews, one of the semitic peoples, in the years 1200 1100 B.C. A hundred years
later Jews defeated both Philistines and Canaanites, establishing Kingdom of Israel (Smith). This is
important, because the first temple in Jerusalem was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As Islam expanded rampantly in the years 630 730 A.D., Jerusalem and Palestine were incorporated
into Islamic rule, exposing Jews to the Arab rule as well as initiating the clash of religions that thrives
to the present day. In A.D. 691, Dome of the Rock, a Muslim temple memorating Muhammad s
ascension to heaven was built upon the ruins of the Jewish Temple, thus provoking the latter on the
religious grounds, and initiating an ongoing dispute, one of the most prominent in present day Old
City of Jerusalem (Smith).
Toward the end of the Ottoman rule (1516 1918) over Palestine, the situation there began to
destabilize, most notably following the Ottoman land reform law passed in 1867, which granted
foreigners the right to own land if they agreed to pay taxes to the Ottoman government. The aim of the
law was to force foreigners to submit to Ottoman jurisdiction in return for their investment in land in
the empire. The ruling is essential to the current ethnic plight in Palestine, as it was especially in that
region, that those regulations were applicated inconsistently, which opened the way for extensive
outside investment and led to numbers of Palestinians acquiring lands, while giving them claim to
fight the immigrants of the Zionist Movement (Tessler). The modern Zionism dates back to the second
half of the nineteenth century and emerged from the nationalist upheaval as well as anti Jewish
prejudice in both Western and

Tokugawa Traditions
Tradition played a huge role in shaping Japanese history during the Tokugawa period from 1603 1868.
Many of the traditions practiced in this period are still practiced today for example the kinds of things
taught in education in Japan. Many traditional Japanese also still live in the same way of life. The
traditions that were practiced include; the forms of education, roles of women and warriors of Japan.
There were many different classes of warriors in Japan from the samurai, to the warrior Buddhist
monks and the Ashigaru foot soldiers. Although they were all different, they all fought under the

American Culture And Their Influence On The Culture
Often in the case of anthropology people like to view the extreme sides of the field; either popular
culture, typically seen in the United States, or remote locations only impacted by their local folk
culture. In Return to Laughter, Lauren Bohannon, or her nom de plume Elenore Smith Bowen,
experiences the latter as she leaves the comfort of her first world culture to spend time with the Tiv
tribe in Western Africa. The Tiv is a group that lives quite differently from what Bowen is used to.
They live very communally and as team, everyone contributing to the collective betterment of the
group, base their entire economy on agriculture, and use witchcraft as a way of maintaining social
order. Bowen even remarks witchcraft surprised her when she writes, despite my training I had
thought these people would differ only by externals of dress and custom... I had willfully closed my
eyes to all but obviously superficial differences. (Bowen 1964: 144) Witchcraft proves to be at the
cornerstone of Tiv culture and forces Bowen to reevaluate herself, her ethnographic method, and what
it means to be a real anthropologist. Witchcraft is used by the Tiv to explain elements of the world as
well keep the community in order. It is a way to accuse a person that makes it impossible for someone
to deny or escape. It labels the accused as a social outcast, making their behavior a model of what the
rest of the tribe cannot or should not do. It is such a subjective accusation that the accused has no

The British House Of Lords Arguments Against Euthanasia
Euthanasia is the painless killing of a patient suffering from an incurable and painful disease or in an

refers to any method of hastening a suffering person s death, including ending life sustaining medical
treatment, assisting in suicide, and taking direct action (such as giving a lethal injection) to cause
death. At other times, it refers only to taking direct action to cause another s death. For example, a
doctor who gives a patient with terminal cancer an overdose of muscle relaxants to end their life
would be considered to have carried out euthanasia.

Poetic Devices In The Raven
The poem I decided to explicate was The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe. The reason I chose this poem is
because I love Edgar Allen Poe s writings. I have always loved reading his dark and twisted poems,
even when I was younger in middle school his poems always got my attention the most. I had never
read The Raven until now, but I am familiar with some of his others like The Tell Tale Heart. I did
really enjoy reading The Raven , the actual raven was a little creepy, but I also like to read poems with
elements like that. In the first stanza there are two types of poetic devices used, one of them is the use
of alliteration which is found very prominent throughout the entire poem. Some uses of alliteration
that are found in the first stanza are while I pondered, weak and weary or while I nodded, nearly
napping, suddenly there came a tapping,/ as of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.
The whole first stanza is pretty much an example alliteration because of how every word starts with
the same letter or sounds closely alike. Then the second type of poetic device used was the use of
foreshadowing. Poe uses foreshadowing when says there is a visitor tapping on his door as if
something bad is going to happen. In the second stanza Poe still uses alliteration, though not as
strongly as in the first stanza. Some examples of alliteration used in the second stanza were found in
the lines, Eagerly I wished the morrow; vainly I had sought to borrow from my books

The Transactions Between Bell Hospitality Limited
Question 1 The transactions between Bell Hospitality Limited (BHL) and Costbite Limited (Costbite)
is undoubtedly a dealing in the course of business and a sale of goods contract, therefore, it will be
governed by the Sale of Goods Act 1979. A contract of sale is a lawful agreement to transfer the
ownership of any particular goods in exchange for an approved monetary consideration from the other
party. This transfer of ownership is also known as the passing of property. The issues highlighted by
BHL focuses on if there is any passing of property and ultimately, who bears the risk of goods that
have been part of the contract. By discussing each of the goods the 20 bottles of Hollinger finest
champagne, 12 bottles of Australian Premium white wine and the 12 bottles of South African red wine
separately, we will be able to determine if the property has passed to BHL and whether or not, Kerry
bears the risk of the loss of the three goods due to the floods. Generally, it should be noted that the
transfer of ownership does not only occur when there is a handover of psychical possession of the
goods. At times, the seller may still have possession of the goods but the ownership would have
passed on to the buyer, and on certain occasions, the buyer would have possession of the item but the
ownership may still remain with the seller. Thus, many a times uncertainties have risen due to the
seemingly challenging task of needing to prove that they have ownership over the goods but

report following will be discussed.
Transformational Leadership Style The transformational leadership can be defined as a process where
leaders and their followers raise one another to higher levels of morality and motivation (Burns 2010 )
. Transformational leaders have clear set of goals and motivate the followers to look beyond their own
interest and achieve these common set of goals and these goals are communicated to the followers
well advanced. These leaders are highly skilled in people orientation management. Transformational

Rough Draft Process Analysis
When beginning to write an essay everyone has their own method of doing so. Some may like to
brainstorm while others may prefer to go straight into writing about their topic. I personally beginning
every essay by collecting ideas about my topic before coordinating them into a type of diagram, next I
proceed to do my rough draft before revising over the paper and finally composing my final draft. The
point of the writing process is to help break everything down so ideas can be organized and everything
can make perfect sense for not just the writer but also the reader.
Writing an essay can be difficult if a person does not know how or where to begin. I personally

Proofreading and revising is a very crucial step in the writing process. If a person does not proofread
then the essay they worked on may not make sense and may overall confuse the reader. Using correct
punctuation shows how sentences are supposed to be read. Once I have made sure all my sentences
are grammatically correct I then compose my final copy of the essay. Writing can be difficult if not
done correctly. That is why there is a writing process to follow. Using some type of way to group ideas
together help coordinate how the essay will go. Then once the ideas are put together the rough draft
can be formed and edited. After everything has been writing accordantly the essay can then be turned
in. Some may think the writing process is just some more additional steps to getting their essay done
but overall it makes the writing experience easier and more

A mirage is a naturally occurring optical phenomenon in which light rays are bent to produce a
displaced image of distant objects or the sky. Mirages appear at very low viewing angles, when you
are far away. As you approach, the viewing angle increases and the mirage disappears, or moves
farther away. The reflection of heat dissipates in the human eye causing the mirage or blur to vanish.

The same cloud that is not fog on lower ground may be fog where it contacts higher ground such as
hilltops or mountain ridges. A cloud is a visible mass of condensed droplets or ice crystals suspended
in the atmosphere above the surface of the Earth or another planetary body. The branch of
meteorology in which clouds are studied is nephrology.
13) If you see towering puffy clouds in the afternoon, you are probably seeing what kind of cloud?
A cumulonimbus Cloud.
What does this mean for the weather forecast this afternoon and early evening?
Cumulonimbus clouds are mostly affiliated with thunderstorms, lightning, heavy rainfall, blizzard or
hail. The forecast should reflect rain or chances of rain.
14) What is a weather satellite and how does it help us make forecasts?
A weather satellite is used by meteorologists to gather information about the weather. Weather
satellites give meteorologists a view of weather patterns over a very large area. This enables
meteorologists to track large weather patterns and make more accurate predictions of future weather
behavior.
15) How do computers help weather forecasting?
Using computers in meteorology helps weather forecasters analyze the atmosphere by drawing
weather maps separately for each of several atmospheric levels. Then the computer can put it all
together and generate a prediction.
Can we just let the computer tell us what the weather will be without human

Characteristics Of The High Renaissance
This research paper looks at the High Renaissance and the artists that it had produced during this
period. During this time period there were three individuals that had dominated the art world. These
three artists are Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Raphael. Even though this paper discusses
about the High Renaissance and the three who dominated it, the main focus of the paper is on
Leonardo Da Vinci. Even though he mad such famous paintings, he was not a prolific painter; he was
prolific draftsman as well as a great engineer, architect, inventor, and scientist. Besides having many
famous paintings, Da Vinci also had thousands of drawings, sketches, and doodles that he is famous
for. The drawings contained many notes of what he was interested. There are drawings of the study of
the human body, of his inventions and just things he see is interesting. In art history, the High
Renaissance period refers to a short period in which there was an exceptional artistic production in the
Italian states. The reason why this part of the Reniasance period is called the High Renaissance is
because it has been seen as the time in which the artistic aim and goals of the Renaissance has reached
their greatest application (n.d.). The High Renaissance style was the dominant art style during 16th
century Italy. Many historians believe that three individuals dominated this time period of art. These
individuals are Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Raphael. The oldest of the three was Leonardo
Da Vinci
Leonardo Da Vinci was a universal genius. He was not only just the best painter of the world at the
time, but he was also known as a great inventor, architect, engineer and scientist. Even though he was
great in many fields, he is mostly known from his achievements as the painter of many famous
Renaissance art masterpieces.
Da Vinci was born on April 15, 1452 near the village of Vinci, which is 25 miles away from Florence.
Da Vinci was the illegitimate son of a local of Florence and a prominent notary Florence, Ser Piero Da
Vinci. Not much of his childhood is known, but as a teen he became an apprentice of Andrea del
Verrochio, the leading artist of Florence and the early Reniassance (2017). Later on Leonardo

A revival, a rebirth, a renaissance of art that belongs in the past but seems to endure because of its

thousand years in the past. El Paso High school is a great example of Corinthian Style architecture that
was predominant by the Roman Empire in the years of the Pax Romana. The building is a masterpiece

Looking back at the main building lies the main east façade with its beautiful porch leading up to the
main structure. The size and exquisite decor is what takes the mind of the city view and into the past
of a revival architecture. Constructed by Henry C. Trost from Trost Trost Architects Engineers, this
building serves as a revival evoking memories from Greece and Rome. The façade itself consists of
six shafts or columns which indicate the ionic part of the Corinthian style structure. The Corinthian
style capitals are a piece of work; they take the viewer back in time. The Corinthian leaves and
beautifully carved flowers are clearly visible as if time had no effect on the buff terra cotta. The detail
is acute and precise, to the extent that beautiful is a dull word to describe the vision. The bases of the
columns are like a perfect structure that hold a grand shaft that leads to beauty on top. Furthermore,
each column is big, no, in fact they are huge, they are elegant in their design and seem to fit one
another as they stand side by side. Above the six columns lies the architrave. The architrave is a small
part of the structure but fine to the last detail, it is astonishing the level of perfection that was achieved
down to the last inch of this structure. Above all this is a

Baseball Bat Physics
Does the Weight Affect the Distance a Baseball Will be Hit?
Baseball bats have not always been the same shape and size they are today. Many baseball players
were known to make their own bats. Overall, until real regulations depicting length and shape, it really
didn t matter what players used. This experiment will not have any hard parts when conducting it
other than measuring the length away from home plate the ball goes. Another hard part is figuring out
which baseballs are hot by which bat. One way to solve both of these problems is to measure the
distance before moving on to test the other bats.
However, in the more than 40 years since they were first introduced, they have evolved into superb
hitting instruments that, left unregulated, can significantly outperform wooden bats. (Brief History of
the Baseball) This quote shows that the aluminum bats, which will be used to test, are better than
wooden bats. A baseball will travel further when hit with an aluminum baseball bat, rather than a
standard wooden bat. (Swing velocity of aluminum and wooden baseball bats) Early batters were
known to sometimes whittle bats to suit their own hitting style. As you might imagine, the results were
quite diverse there were flat bats, round bats, short ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Quintessential American Woman Essay
The Quintessential American Woman
The American woman is a mystery that has yet to be solved. She is an ever changing poem that sparks
interest in those who are unaccustomed to her mysterious ways. The American women fascinated
many authors, including Henry James. To express his enthrallment, James employed his literary talent
to create Daisy Miller. Daisy exudes the vast depth of the entity of the American woman, which
originally captured James attention. John Hay, a contemporary observer of American manners and
mores stated of the American woman, Her conduct is without blemish, according to the rural
American standard, and she knows no other (qtd. in Fogel 52). James s Daisy Miller depicts the
innocence of the American woman, with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She parades about without a chaperone, and flaunts her friendships to men, thereby presenting herself
to others as a tramp. Evidence for this is found in the novella wherein Winterbourne ponders, Was she
simply a pretty girl from New York State...or was she also a designing, an audacious, an unscrupulous
young person (James 57). Daisy seems pure and innocent, but her behavior is so unrefined leaving her
open to suspicions of crudity. As Daisy can be said to personify the American woman, such qualities
of innocence and crudity can be said to apply to the American woman as well. Daisy s purity is further
explored in her dealings with the few expatriate Americans that she encounters in Europe. The
characteristics of the expatriates consist of familiarity with American social behavior, although
European social behavior is favored. This adds to the contrast between the American and European
social standard. Mrs. Walker, an American expatriate, is a perfect example of the difference between
the standards of America and Europe. After sympathizing with Daisy s behavioral ignorance, Mrs.
Walker attempts to help Daisy from further ruining her fast developing reputation. Daisy s refusal to
accept advice creates additional isolation from the social society in Europe for her. In a compilation of
commentary on Daisy Miller, Albert Mordell writes, One of the most successful touches in the story is
that where

The Charge of the Light Brigade and Attack Essay
The Charge of the Light Brigade and Attack The Charge of the light Brigade by Alfred Lord Tennyson
and Attack by Siegfried Sassoon are two very dissimilar poems. Both of them are on the same topic of
war but have many contrasts in how they treat the subject matter, war. The main difference between
these two poems is the audience that they were written for. Tennyson, as poet laureate, was written for
public reading, but Sassoon s work which showed more emotion and feeling, was therefore more of a
private poem. The poems tone and mood are very different. Tennyson s poem is a triumphant,
victorious and celebratory poem. This is because the Victorians did not want to read about defeat, as it

While time ticks blank on their busy wrists. The language in the two poems is different. The poets use
different literary terms. Tennyson begins his poem by using anaphora in the opening lines, Half a
league, half a league, half a league onward. Anaphora is the repetition of certain words or words to
obtain a rhythmic pattern. In this historic war, the men charged at the enemy guns on horseback, so
this repetition in Tennyson s opening lines could be associated with the sound of galloping horses.
Tennyson uses this again when he writes, Cannon to the right of them, Cannon to the left of them,
Cannon in front of them. Tennyson also uses rhetorical questions in his poem, for example, Was there
a man dismay d? and When can their glory fade? These are questions to which no answer is required,
and add dramatic effect to the poem. Then he uses the phrase, The Valley of Death, to describe the
valley in which the charge took place. This phrase is taken from the Bible ( Psalm 23). In other
translations of the Bible ( The Good News Bible), it is translated as, the deepest darkness . Tennyson
uses it with dramatic effect as if the men were ordered to go into the deepest darkness to charge down
the cannons. During the Victorian period of history the Bible would have been important to the
Victorian people and so the poem appealed to their cultural knowledge. Tennyson also uses other

The Three Political Parties In America
A political party is an organization that sponsors candidates for public office under the organization s
name. A political party platform is a formal set of principal goals which are supported by a political
party or individual candidate. Typically, platforms of candidates within their parties are consistent.
This is partially because of voter s tendency to vote with their party, and partially because of
expectations of candidates. Three political parties in America are Republicans, Democrats, and the
Green party. Tax reform, environmental issues, welfare and poverty, and immigration are all issues
that different parties view from different angles. Tax reform has been an integral part of American
politics since the nation s birth. The Boston Tea Party was an initial display of how strongly the

party stresses that conservation is a conservative value and private property ownership is key to an

generations to come. However, they honor hunting fishing heritage via more conservation lands. The
Green party advocates strongly for environmental issues, as made clear by their name. This party
believes that: the Human species has no right to exploit animals, sustainable society lives within

Theme Of Superstition In PetroniusThe Satirycon

Superstition Within Petronius The Satirycon
Written during the 1st century A.D., the Satyricon is often referred to as the first Roman novel. The
novel has only survived for us in fragments, and for this reason it is impossible for the modern reader
to reconstruct its plot completely. However, the Satyricon serves as an invaluable source of
information about the daily life and language of the Roman populace. Petronius deliberately
reproduces plebeian language and slang, offering a rare insight into everyday Roman life, which
polished and refined works leave absent. Petronius focuses on the large social gap between the freed
slaves and scholars of the time and how superstition can show that gap. The main scene that
superstition is shown is during Trimalchio s Feast.
The scene in the novel titled as Trimalchio s feast, describes an elaborate dinner party hosted by
Trimalchio, a businessman and immigrant who gained riches in Rome without any elegance or an
education fit for an aristocrat of the time. This section has been preserved more completely than some
of the more fragmented chapters of the novel, its themes and motifs are able to develop more fully and
be more closely understood as Petronius had originally intended. It could be interpreted within
different chapters and scenes of the feast as focusing on the large social gap between Rome s freed
slaves, and the well educated scholars whom they aimed to mimic. Although, this

Jean Bourdieu Cultural Capital Analysis
riguez Extra Credit One of the most illustrating concepts for me was to know about Bourdieu s
cultural capital. In forms of capital, Jean Bourdieu defines cultural capital as habits, manners,
knowledge and style of presentations that define a person s body and mind. Thus, Bourdieu describes
cultural capital as literally the unconscious part of you that guides your actions and behaviors in the
world. However, Bourdieu believed that gaining cultural capital, especially, the predominating cultural
capital was not easy. In other words, it takes both time and economic capital to acquire cultural
capital. For that reason, Bourdieu saw cultural capital as paradoxically a symbol of both natural gift
and hard work because of the amount of time and effort ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, I believe that anyone can achieve success as long as their put they their mind on it. At the
same time, I also believe that school was the middle ground, where all children regardless of their
economic position can learn the same cultural capital as privileged students. However, after learning
about cultural capital and the variations that exist within families, I quickly realize how lacking the
right cultural capital can negatively impact a child, not only in their educational setting, but also on
their life chances. Thus, this affected me personally because I also come from a low income class
family. Consequently, like many working families, I lacked the right cultural capital that could have
help me achieve social and cultural mobility at my school. Therefore, when I arrive to Cal, I
experienced many academic and social issues that many of the privileged students did not. Yet,
without having a structural discourse explaining me the importance of cultural capital, I did not only
felt abandoned but also incompetent about my own skills and integrity as a student. Thus, learning
about cultural capital widened my understanding because I realize now how difficult it is for someone,
who lacks the privileged cultural capital, to succeed in their life, especially when their institutions also
value the dominating privilege cultural capital. Finally, learning about cultural capital has also made
me more aware, not only of the differences that exist within working and middle class families, but
also of the social inequalities that roots from everyday

Why are more and more people leaving established careers to start small businesses and what is driving the success of these businesses. Steven Jones analyzes this question and looks into one particular small party planning business and breaks down the vital components of this successful business. Jones also dissects the scholarly articles of Professors John Seedon and Brendan O Donovan, regarding command and control, and systems thinking management techniques. Changing Mindset Case Study Analysis More and more individuals are looking to quit their careers and to start fresh. As larger companies continue to grow, voids are left in a particular industry or market. Entrepreneurs are recognizing these voids and taking no time to fill them. With no previous business model to follow and very little startup capital, it can be desirable to some to take the leap and start up a small business. With little capital required to being a new small business, there is very little risk from a financial standpoint. With little capital required to invest and a potentially infinite income, it is no wonder why more and more people are starting small businesses. Being one of the major oil production oil rig in the UK, the accident that took place more than 20 years ago caught the attention of many, especially those in the field. The happening was largely due to the complacency of the supervisors as well as the safety measures of the management. It may be because of complex, ineffective flow in communication as a result of un integrated information system in JAS. : Low performance in liquidity may be resulted from poor inventory management and ineffective costs control. Firstly, JAS is facing the cash flow problem because of having too many stocks in warehouse. Secondly, un integrated information system brings some difficulties in costs control. In timely and inaccurate customers financial data makes JAS difficult to retrieve debtors effectively. 2.2.2 Market The UK Government policies encourage citizens to use more bicycles instead of other transportations as possible as they can because of the congestion and air pollution. In addition, increasingly number of people has treated cycling as an exercise, trip and healthy lifestyle, which promotes the consumption of bicycle. These contribute to the boost of bicycle industry. However, JAS has gained relatively lower market share over the last few years. The level of competitive intensity has a significant impact on JAS s sales and profit. Firstly, as a medium sized company providing high quality bicycles, JAS has been receiving increasing competition from its existing rivals who offer similar products but relatively lower price because of their economies of scale. Some rivals benefit from their high production or lower cost of material and labour, leading to competitive advantage in the marketplace, such as high quality with the relatively lower ... • 7. Female Orgasm Dysfunction Paper The sexual topic that I chose to explore for my paper is female orgasm dysfunction (FSD), where many women, like myself, are unable to experience orgasm through vaginal intercourse. There are many factors that contribute to a woman s inability, or infrequency to orgasm, such as biological, psychological, and emotional factors. Being that my personal experiment had to do with factors associated with personality such as openness to new experiences and shyness, I wanted to explore and learn about other causes that effect female orgasm. Therefore I chose to read three articles: Personal Factors that Contribute to or Impair Women s Ability to Achieve Orgasm, Emotional Intelligence and its Association with Orgasmic Frequency in Women, and Are Orgasms ... One of my critiques of the research has to do with their method of using surveys and questionnaires, because both methods can result in recall bias, where participants either lie about a response on purpose or due to lack of memory, which can skew the results. Also, the sole use of twins for this study seems odd to me, being that twins share the same genetic makeup, which makes me question whether or not that had any impact on the results. If I were the researchers I would have used both twins and a general mixture of women, in order to ensure that the overall population of the UK was being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How significant was the presence of foreign powers as an influence on the nature and growth of Arab nationalism in the years 1900 2001? During the years 1900 2001 a number of significant interventions occurred which affected the growth and nature of Arab nationalism. Several key pressures considerably influenced a change in the nature of nationalism; including, economic levers, agreements and military presenses in the Middle East. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was also true of the Arab fighters in the 1916 Arab revolt aided by the British; they wanted gold and weapons much more than Arab independence. Cleveland highlights these points and the fact that the promises made in the correspondence prompted contentment on both sides, as the British wanted to see the fall of the Ottomans and Hussein wanted leadership. However, McMahon s language was so ambiguous and so vague..[that it has] given rise to conflicting interpretations over whether Palestine was included as part of the future independent Arab state . It is for this reason that the Arabs began to distrust Britain. The correspondence was between the British high commissioner, Sir Henry McMahon and descendant of the prophet and Arab leader, Sharif Hussein. For the British it was a useful agreement as they already saw the Ottomans as a threat. However in the long term it caused unrest in the Middle East and widespread distrust of Britain. The agreement is useful in showing the unclear language used by the British to avoid either having to give land to the Arabs or create an argument. Deborah J. Gerner agrees with Cleveland in that secret agreements , caused Britain especially to be viewed negatively by the Arabs; It is clear from this agreement [Sykes Picot] that Britain had no intention of fulfilling its commitment to support Arab independence in the Levant at the end of the war, whatever might have ... A world characterized by total and complete conformity through assimilation, incorporation, and deindividualization. Rather, it should be able to see all points of view and incorporate them into its worldview. But after awhile this philosophy began to be replaced by a new system, a know all, see everything Orwellian big brother that attempted to maintain a rigid order among individuals, and among their thoughts, because in order for this diseased system, Postmodernism, to survive, it was necessary for all men to be exactly equal, in their behavior, in their actions, and in their thoughts. It began with architecture and art, and then proceeded to infect our individual beliefs and opinions. Whereas once men were free to hold their own opinions, now all men were required to believe the same beliefs. (As the Counting Crows have observed, round here, we all look the same. ) According to Habermas, this new system was created by a flaw in the old one. This flaw lay in the fact that Modernism had no set of rules for interpersonal contact. Under the protection of Major League Baseball s ( MLB ) longtime antitrust exemption, Minor League Baseball ( MiLB ) has continuously redefined and reshaped itself according to Baseball s overall needs. But while MLB salaries have increased dramatically since the MLB reserve clause was broken in 1975, the salaries of minor league players have not followed suit. On February 7, 2014, a group of minor league players led by former minor leaguer Aaron Senne filed a class action complaint against MLB and three MLB clubs alleging violations of minimum wage and hour laws. According to the complaint, most minor leaguer earn between $3,000 and $7,500 working between fifty and seventy hours per week during the five month season. The wage and ... Once a player is placed on a club s 40 man roster, he is entitled to the minimum salary prescribed in the Basic Agreement, which for 2014 is $500,000 for MLB service and $81,500 for MiLB service. Historically, while the average minor league salary has risen by just 75 percent since 1976, the average MLB salary has risen by approximately 2,000 percent thanks in part to union representation and open markets. Regardless of the legality of the claims raised in Senne, MLB has an ethical responsibility to change the current system to ensure that minor league players are not living in poverty by fairly compensating them for their hard work, both financially and with other intrinsic compensation. A proactive approach that balances the interests of players and the financial needs of clubs can solve these issues while retaining the development structure that clubs rely on. First and most simply, MLB should increase monthly salaries for minor league players. Having players paid below the poverty line is embarrassing for an organization that produces over $8 billion in revenue per year. To answer this concern, MLB clubs can take advantage of the colossal jumps in television revenue to increase salaries. MLB can also help, perhaps using some of the $750 million added per season by their new national media contracts. Toward the end of the Ottoman rule (1516 1918) over Palestine, the situation there began to destabilize, most notably following the Ottoman land reform law passed in 1867, which granted foreigners the right to own land if they agreed to pay taxes to the Ottoman government. The aim of the law was to force foreigners to submit to Ottoman jurisdiction in return for their investment in land in the empire. The ruling is essential to the current ethnic plight in Palestine, as it was especially in that region, that those regulations were applicated inconsistently, which opened the way for extensive outside investment and led to numbers of Palestinians acquiring lands, while giving them claim to fight the immigrants of the Zionist Movement (Tessler). I have always loved reading his dark and twisted poems, even when I was younger in middle school his poems always got my attention the most. I had never read The Raven until now, but I am familiar with some of his others like The Tell Tale Heart. I did really enjoy reading The Raven , the actual raven was a little creepy, but I also like to read poems with elements like that. In the first stanza there are two types of poetic devices used, one of them is the use of alliteration which is found very prominent throughout the entire poem. Some uses of alliteration that are found in the first stanza are while I pondered, weak and weary or while I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,/ as of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door. The whole first stanza is pretty much an example alliteration because of how every word starts with the same letter or sounds closely alike. Then the second type of poetic device used was the use of foreshadowing. Poe uses foreshadowing when says there is a visitor tapping on his door as if something bad is going to happen. In the second stanza Poe still uses alliteration, though not as strongly as in the first stanza. Some examples of alliteration used in the second stanza were found in the lines, Eagerly I wished the morrow; vainly I had sought to borrow from my books ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Transactions Between Bell Hospitality Limited Question 1 The transactions between Bell Hospitality Limited (BHL) and Costbite Limited (Costbite) is undoubtedly a dealing in the course of business and a sale of goods contract, therefore, it will be governed by the Sale of Goods Act 1979. A contract of sale is a lawful agreement to transfer the ownership of any particular goods in exchange for an approved monetary consideration from the other party. This transfer of ownership is also known as the passing of property. The issues highlighted by BHL focuses on if there is any passing of property and ultimately, who bears the risk of goods that have been part of the contract. By discussing each of the goods the 20 bottles of Hollinger finest champagne, 12 bottles of Australian Premium white wine and the 12 bottles of South African red wine separately, we will be able to determine if the property has passed to BHL and whether or not, Kerry bears the risk of the loss of the three goods due to the floods. Generally, it should be noted that the transfer of ownership does not only occur when there is a handover of psychical possession of the goods. At times, the seller may still have possession of the goods but the ownership would have passed on to the buyer, and on certain occasions, the buyer would have possession of the item but the ownership may still remain with the seller. Thus, many a times uncertainties have risen due to the seemingly challenging task of needing to prove that they have ownership over the goods but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The reason why this part of the Reniasance period is called the High Renaissance is because it has been seen as the time in which the artistic aim and goals of the Renaissance has reached their greatest application (n.d.). Another hard part is figuring out which baseballs are hot by which bat. One way to solve both of these problems is to measure the distance before moving on to test the other bats. However, in the more than 40 years since they were first introduced, they have evolved into superb hitting instruments that, left unregulated, can significantly outperform wooden bats. (Brief History of the Baseball) This quote shows that the aluminum bats, which will be used to test, are better than wooden bats. A baseball will travel further when hit with an aluminum baseball bat, rather than a standard wooden bat. • 30. The Quintessential American Woman Essay The Quintessential American Woman The American woman is a mystery that has yet to be solved. She is an ever changing poem that sparks interest in those who are unaccustomed to her mysterious ways. The American women fascinated many authors, including Henry James. To express his enthrallment, James employed his literary talent to create Daisy Miller. Daisy exudes the vast depth of the entity of the American woman, which originally captured James attention. John Hay, a contemporary observer of American manners and mores stated of the American woman, Her conduct is without blemish, according to the rural American standard, and she knows no other (qtd. in Fogel 52). James s Daisy Miller depicts the innocence of the American woman, with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She parades about without a chaperone, and flaunts her friendships to men, thereby presenting herself to others as a tramp. Evidence for this is found in the novella wherein Winterbourne ponders, Was she simply a pretty girl from New York State...or was she also a designing, an audacious, an unscrupulous young person (James 57). Daisy seems pure and innocent, but her behavior is so unrefined leaving her open to suspicions of crudity. As Daisy can be said to personify the American woman, such qualities of innocence and crudity can be said to apply to the American woman as well. Daisy s purity is further explored in her dealings with the few expatriate Americans that she encounters in Europe. The characteristics of the expatriates consist of familiarity with American social behavior, although European social behavior is favored. This adds to the contrast between the American and European social standard. Mrs. Walker, an American expatriate, is a perfect example of the difference between the standards of America and Europe. After sympathizing with Daisy s behavioral ignorance, Mrs. Walker attempts to help Daisy from further ruining her fast developing reputation. Daisy s refusal to accept advice creates additional isolation from the social society in Europe for her. In a compilation of commentary on Daisy Miller, Albert Mordell writes, One of the most successful touches in the story is that where ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Tennyson begins his poem by using anaphora in the opening lines, Half a league, half a league, half a league onward. Anaphora is the repetition of certain words or words to obtain a rhythmic pattern. In this historic war, the men charged at the enemy guns on horseback, so this repetition in Tennyson s opening lines could be associated with the sound of galloping horses. Tennyson uses this again when he writes, Cannon to the right of them, Cannon to the left of them, Cannon in front of them. Tennyson also uses rhetorical questions in his poem, for example, Was there a man dismay d? and When can their glory fade? These are questions to which no answer is required, and add dramatic effect to the poem. Then he uses the phrase, The Valley of Death, to describe the valley in which the charge took place. This phrase is taken from the Bible ( Psalm 23). In other translations of the Bible ( The Good News Bible), it is translated as, the deepest darkness . Tennyson uses it with dramatic effect as if the men were ordered to go into the deepest darkness to charge down the cannons. During the Victorian period of history the Bible would have been important to the Victorian people and so the poem appealed to their cultural knowledge. Tennyson also uses other terms to ... • 37. Theme Of Superstition In PetroniusThe Satirycon Olivia Brinkman LLEA 326 T. Barnes 11/28/17 Superstition Within Petronius The Satirycon Written during the 1st century A.D., the Satyricon is often referred to as the first Roman novel. The novel has only survived for us in fragments, and for this reason it is impossible for the modern reader to reconstruct its plot completely. However, the Satyricon serves as an invaluable source of information about the daily life and language of the Roman populace. Petronius deliberately reproduces plebeian language and slang, offering a rare insight into everyday Roman life, which polished and refined works leave absent. Petronius focuses on the large social gap between the freed slaves and scholars of the time and how superstition can show that gap. The main scene that superstition is shown is during Trimalchio s Feast. The scene in the novel titled as Trimalchio s feast, describes an elaborate dinner party hosted by Trimalchio, a businessman and immigrant who gained riches in Rome without any elegance or an education fit for an aristocrat of the time. This section has been preserved more completely than some of the more fragmented chapters of the novel, its themes and motifs are able to develop more fully and be more closely understood as Petronius had originally intended. It could be interpreted within different chapters and scenes of the feast as focusing on the large social gap between Rome s freed slaves, and the well educated scholars whom they aimed to mimic. In forms of capital, Jean Bourdieu defines cultural capital as habits, manners, knowledge and style of presentations that define a person s body and mind. Thus, Bourdieu describes cultural capital as literally the unconscious part of you that guides your actions and behaviors in the world. However, Bourdieu believed that gaining cultural capital, especially, the predominating cultural capital was not easy. In other words, it takes both time and economic capital to acquire cultural capital. For that reason, Bourdieu saw cultural capital as paradoxically a symbol of both natural gift and hard work because of the amount of time and effort ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the same time, I also believe that school was the middle ground, where all children regardless of their economic position can learn the same cultural capital as privileged students. Thus, this affected me personally because I also come from a low income class family. Consequently, like many working families, I lacked the right cultural capital that could have help me achieve social and cultural mobility at my school. Therefore, when I arrive to Cal, I experienced many academic and social issues that many of the privileged students did not. Yet, without having a structural discourse explaining me the importance of cultural capital, I did not only felt abandoned but also incompetent about my own skills and integrity as a student. Thus, learning about cultural capital widened my understanding because I realize now how difficult it is for someone, who lacks the privileged cultural capital, to succeed in their life, especially when their institutions also value the dominating privilege cultural capital.
