The heat engine I chose to research was the jet engine. The jet engine is a heat engine specialized to
use jet propulsion for forward thrust. The first credible theory on jet engines was made by Sir Isaac
Newton. He theorized that a backward siphoned explosion could move a machine forward at a
momentous rate of speed. This theory was based off of his third law of motion which is for every
action there is an equal and opposite re action. This law states that for every force there is a reaction
force that is equal in size, but in the opposite direction. This early theory on the idea of jet engines
gave way to the later inventors who would use Newton s theory to make the first working jet engines.
In 1928 Sir Frank Whittle started developing his first jet engine, and in 1932 he had the idea of his jet
engine patented. In 1937 Sir Frank Whittle finally created a working jet engine. Meanwhile in
Germany, Dr. Hans Van Ohain was working on his own jet engine unaware of Whittle s work. Dr.
Hans Van Ohain began his project in 1935, finished his first engine in 1937, and it was used in the first
ever plane flight in 1939. Sir Frank Whittle is usually accredited to most of the work on early jet

The deceased deer is what forces the man to stop along the road, and death in general is what causes
humans to stop along their path and take time to make decisions.
One main way the theme of death is illustrated is through symbolism of the deer, canyon, and river.
The deer is a roadblock which must be dealt with before the man can continue on his journey. He
cannot simply push death to the side of the road. Here, the deer would rot and fester; instead, as
Stafford states in the first stanza, it is usually best to roll them into the canyon (line 3). The way to
deal with this problem is to discard of it immediately and to not hesitate at all. Literally, this is true for
the safety of other motorists. Furthermore, it is necessary to deal properly with this problem so one
can continue on their path in life. The canyon, and river at the bottom, therefore come to symbolize
the depth of our individual souls; we push problems into our souls, and slowly deal with them. By

Cisplatin (figure 1a) is a platinum derived alkylating like, anti proliferative compound and is also
known as cis diammine dichloro platinum (II) (CDDP). It is one of the most effective anti neoplastic
drug that is used in the treatment of several neoplasias such as lung, ovarian, bladder and testicular
cancers 1. It was synthesised in 1844 by M. Peyrone (figure 1b). However, it did not attain any
scientific importance until 1965, when Rosenberg, Vancamp et al at Michigan State University
discovered that platinum electrodes were able to inhibit cell division of Escherichia Coli bacteria. This
discovery led to a further investigation of cisplatin effects on cell division in different tumor cells. It
was shown to have anticancer activity and was the first platinum cytotoxic drug approved by food and
administration authority (FDA) in 1978 2.

Lamont Symphony Orchestra performed three beautiful sets of music that was conducted by Ryan
Kozak with Hisham Bravo Groover, Assistant Conductors and Lawrence Golan being the Music
Director and Conductor at Denver University on Thursday, November 17, 2016 in June Swaner
Concert Hall at 7:30pm. Kozak conducted all three of the of the pieces; Danse Macabre Op 40 by
Camille Saint Saëns (1835 to 1921), Isle of the Dead, Op. 29 by Sergei Rachmaninoff which is my
favorite out of all three pieces (1873 to 1943), and Symphony No. 5, Op. 107 by Felix Mendelssohn
(1809 to 1847). Walking into the concert hall I was flabbergasted. The size of the room just amazed
me and the stage was fantastic to say the least. Made me more excited for the show to start! As I sat
down in my seat I noticed all the types of people in the concert hall were dressed in many different
sets of attire. Elderly people were better dressed with their suits and dresses and pant suits where the
younger people in the concert hall were still nicely dressed but were a little more casual. After what
seemed like forever the lights finally began to go dim and I knew the show was about to start. In the
first piece, Saint Saëns, setting of the poem, the solo violin represents the devil who is playing his

Whenever modern poetry is mentioned, there is an overwhelming consensus that it involves an
onslaught of free verse with irregular structure Modern poetry was seen as not rhyming, even when it
did rhyme; as obscure and difficult, even when it was at its most lucid and limpid (Schmidt, 3). There
is also a stereotype that traditional forms of poetry that were popular in the past were abandoned.
However, when looking at examples of modern poetry, it becomes clear that this is not the case.
Whilst it is true that many modern poets have embraced the free verse form of poetry, others have
adopted classical poem forms. Tweaking them slightly so that can adapt to the modern world. Thus
reviving these forms and making them more fresh and relevant. American poet Edna St. Vincent
Millay can be seen to fit into this category. She is particularly well known for her sonnets. This essay
will analyse one of Millay s sonnets in to context of the evolution of courtly love poetry. The history
of the sonnet will also be examined to demonstrate how Millay has faithfully refashioned her poems.

Background: Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is defined as a high concentration of platelets suspended in a
small volume of plasma and was proposed for periodontal tissue regeneration. However, although it
has been widely studied, there is much controversy on its efficacy.
Purpose: To study and meta analyze the effectiveness by means of clinical attachment level, probing
depth reduction, bleeding, suppuration and recession of PRP for periodontal intrabony defects on
randomized clinical trials (RCT)
Material and methods: An electronic literature search was conducted by two reviewers (AR and AM)
in several databases up to February 2014. The PICO question was: Do intrabony defects in treatment
for periodontal regeneration with PRP have a higher or similar efficacy that other periodontal
regeneration treatments? Articles were included in this systematic review if they were RCT with10 or
more human subjects, reporting the radiographic and clinical outcomes PRP for guided tissue
regeneration in intrabony periodontal defects. Random effects meta analyses of the selected studies
were applied to avoid any bias being caused by methodological differences between studies.
Results: Twenty two papers of full text of these articles were then obtained, and reviewed. Of these, 18
articles fulfilled the inclusion criteria and subsequently were qualitatively analyzed. Eleven articles
