Ivanka Trump Persuasive Speech
(Insert Creative Title ;) )
Many people may believe the First Daughter, Ivanka Trump, is just the rich daughter of the president.
However, she is much more than what society wants to think of her. Over the last 2 years, Ivanka
Trump has risen to become a strong advocate for Women s Rights and education. Ivanka Trump is the
most influential activist of female empowerment of the gender gap, proper education, and STEM
careers. What makes Ivanka Trump stand apart is her willingness to make ideas happen. Our society
needs more activists like her.
Today, women all over the world are separated by a gender gap that affects making the same wages as
men. According to a study done by the American Association of University Women, Women working
full time in the United States typically were paid just 80 percent of what men were paid, a gap of 20
percent (Miller, Kevin). Ivanka Trump has proven her strong support for shattering the pay gap. The
pay gap has been closing since 1970. It has been estimated to take another 170 years to close the gap
which is unacceptable (Shelbourne, Mallory) according to Ivanka Trump and World Bank President
Jim Yong Kim. Single women without children earn 94 cents for each dollar earned by a man, whereas
married mothers earned only 77 cents. Gender is no longer a factor in creating the greatest wage
discrepancy in this country. Motherhood is. We are working to change labor laws were put into place
when women were not a significant portion of the workforce. (Ivanka Trump) (Shelbourne, Mallory)
Ivanka Trump is a big influencer to powerful people in the world. She has spoken with world leaders
like Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, and Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel about the
gender pay gap. Talking to world leaders at a Women 20 Summit in Germany, Ivanka praised
Chancellor Merkel for passing a transparent paid leave legislation in Germany. She said, The United
States will look to Germany for legislation that will benefit families on paid leave. (Abramson, Alana)
Ivanka also talked about the uniqueness of women in the workplace. Proper legislation will help
support working women all over the world support their families.
In order to help shrink the gender gap, we must give

Epic Of Gilgamesh Book Report
The Epic of Gilgamesh begins with a very vivid description of Gilgamesh and his strength. It tells of
how Anu, the sky god, tells Aruru, the mother goddess, to create something that was equal to
Gilgamesh in power. Aruru makes this man out of clay and calls him Enkidu. Enkidu was a mixture
between a man and some type of animal; therefore, he was able to live in the forest alongside of
animals. A trapper who hunted in that same forest became angry that Enkidu was setting traps free.
After going to his father, the trapper travels to Gilgamesh for help. Gilgamesh gives the trapper a
harlot named Shamhat to take back with him who will seduce Enkidu and turn him into a man. When
Shamhat reaches Enkidu, she beguiles him and he turns human. Now, Enkidu is not able to roam with
animals, instead he scares them. Shamhat reveals to Enkidu that Gilgamesh has had dreams about him
coming. Enkidu and Shamhat make a journey to Uruk so Enkidu can battle Gilgamesh.
Following a fight between them, Enkidu and Gilgamesh resolve their problems and become friends.
Gilgamesh persuades Enkidu to go with him to fight Humbaba, the guard of the Cedar Forest so that
they can gain recognition for the defeat. The elders of Uruk and Gilgamesh s mother pray over them
and designate Enkidu as Gilgamesh s servant. Then the two start their journey to Cedar Forest. Each

bond between Gilgamesh and Enkidu. They were destined to battle each other, but after a little spat

give him comfort during his suffering and to make known that Gilgamesh would not forget about him.

The Tragic Hero Of Shakespeare s Hamlet
[insert introduction here] Macbeth and Hamlet are both tragic heroes whose fall from greatness
disturbs the order of their kingdoms.
A tragic hero is a character, one of high esteem, whose internal imperfection leads to their downfall.
Both Macbeth and Hamlet are well known and of high social class when an unexpected calamity hits.
Hamlet, the son of the king of Denmark, is a charismatic prince most immediate to [the] throne
(Shakespeare, Ham I.ii.109). It can be inferred that he lives a rather extravagant and convenient
lifestyle. That is, until his father dies and his uncle takes both the throne and Hamlet s mother as wife.
From Hamlet s perspective this is a calamity for two reasons: Hamlet was heir to the throne, and his
mother ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His reaction upon learning this fate is twofold: Macbeth can wait patiently for legitimate royalty, or he
can give into his black and deep desires, and steal the throne from Duncan (X). Hamlet s fate, on the
other hand, is to set right the murder of his father(x). It both cases, neither of the characters fates are
what killed them, but rather their tragic flaws. While Macbeth ultimately succumbs to his unchecked
ambition and rashly murders any potential and unlikely threat to the throne, Hamlet procrastinates and
fails to fulfill his revenge in a timely, simplistic manner. Because of his uncontrolled ambition,
Macbeth blindly trusts the witches who promise inviolable royalty, murders his closest friend, and
kills the family of his nemesis. Hamlet, on the other hand, weary of the legitimacy of the supernatural,
puts on an antic disposition and delays his revenge as he searches for confirmation of the ghost s
accusations (x). Hamlet s procrastination causes him to miss multiple opportunities at revenge. For
example, he chooses not to kill a vulnerable, praying Claudius (x). In this way, Macbeth and Hamlet
fall victim to their own actions. Had Macbeth been satisfied with just his throne, he would not have
risen any suspicion amongst the others. Similarly, had Hamlet acted in a timely manner and killed
Claudius the moment he was made aware of his

Huck Finn Religious Hypocrisy Analysis
In the Adventure of Huckleberry Finn Mark Twain uses satire to exemplify human weakness.
Throughout the whole adventure, and even before departing from St. Petersburg, Huck comes face to
face with a variety of people meant to deride the American person. Religious hypocrisy and its
representation in Adventures of Huckleberry Finn establish one of Mark Twain s greatest allegations
with the American civilization. A prominent example of religious hypocrisy in the novel is the Watson
sisters, Widow Douglas and Miss Watson. Very quickly Huck observes that each sister represents a
different version of the good place. Both sisters ardently try to civilize Huck and teach him good
religious values. Huck tells the reader that, Sometimes the widow would take me one side and talk
about Providence in a way to make a body s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Huck is able to observe this because religious hypocrisy around him is increasing as does his
awareness of it. He is describing how he gets two different viewpoints of heaven from each sister, and
it confuses him. Huck is not able to truly learn about the greatness of heaven and Christianity because
the sisters contradict and that is not something he wants to follow. Huck quickly decides both places
seem undesirable to him. This quote about the sisters shows Twain s distaste for the hypocritical
religious people during this time. He demonstrated people contradicting themselves, as well as saying
one thing and then doing another. Another example of religious hypocrisy in the novel is the feuding
families. The Grangerfords and Sheperdsons have been in a feud for 30 years, and cannot even
remembered why it started. The hypocrisy here is seen in the faithfulness of local congregations. Huck
states that, [T]he men took their guns between their knees while they were attending church listening
to sermons on brotherly love (Twain 114). This again causes damage to Huck s outlook on religion.
These two families

he has to confront Natsu Dragneel in the middle of their fight against Zeref. Natsu, in response to
Gray s actions, told him to set aside and let him finish slaying their enemy. But, Gray refused to listen

Demon race born from Books of Zeref or what they simply call the E.N.D., the only active Etherious
left until this time. On the other hand, Irene Belserion, who is known for her strength and peerless
magnitude of power, told Mavis Vermillion, the first Guild Master and the co founder of the Fairy Tail

Irony In Shakespeare s Much Ado About Nothing
New York City, 10:30 pm. It is another packed night at the Comedy Cellar on Macdougal Street, siting
in the audience is a group who has just walked in from the bustle of the big city. Naturally, the stress
of daily life hangs like a tangible fog, and peoples spirits rise in hope to forget about their own
problems and laugh their worry away. A grumpy, fat, balding, middle aged man saunters on stage and
makes some witty remark about how life sucks. In many ways he is right, everyone laughs, people
relate to his struggles. Life is hard, and when flaws get exaggerated, it s hilarious. This is what
Shakespeare does in his comedy Much Ado About Nothing, by making extreme simplifications and

Where is the line defining how much trust you should have in another persons word? In the case of
Beatrice and Benedict, their trust in the admonition of their peers led them to be manipulated and their
thoughts were tainted. However, their deception turned out to catalyst true love. As soon as their love
virus spread, the two witty, independent individuals completely dismissed the disdain that they so
grudgingly held for one another. This satiric event exposes the idea that quite possibly one should
spend a bit more time processing and questioning information handed to them. Beatrice and Benedict
fell into the influence of the conspirators and all previous ideas of one another dissipated. In my
personal opinion, I would have a bit more trouble than Beatrice when falling for a man who referred to
her as Lady Disdain and who compared her intellectual, tenacious wit to a horse (pg. 12). So either the
people of Shakespeare s time didn t hold grudges, or he is making fun of people who will give up all
prior knowledge in the interest of love. (It s the second part, if you were confused.) The desperate will
that all humans have for love is powerful, and Shakespeare is criticizing the ease that people have at
shutting their third eye (knowledge) when blinded by

computer support specialist, the database administrator, the network and computer systems

computer networks they are often able to telecommute from home. The education requirement for
these workers is typically a bachelor s degree but a professional certification may be adequate for
some employers. Experience with network security and maintenance is preferred. Because network
administrators are involved directly with people in many departments, good communication skills are
essential. (O Leary amp; O Leary, 2008) Network and computer system administrators can expect to
earn an annual salary ranging from $41,000 to $104,070. Median annual wages of network and
computer systems administrators were $66,310 in May 2008. The middle 50 percent earned between
$51,690 and $84,110. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $41,000, and the highest 10 percent

Ovid s Devaluation of Sympathy in Metamorphoses Essay
Ovid s Devaluation of Sympathy in Metamorphoses
Ovid reveals two similar tales of incest in the Metamorphoses. First, he describes the non sisterly love
Byblis acquires for her twin brother Caunus. Later, he revisits the incestuous love theme with the story
of Myrrha who develops a non filial love for her father, Cinyras. The two accounts hold many
similarities and elicit varying reactions. Ovid constantly tugs at our emotions and draws forth
alternating feelings of pity and disgust for the matters at hand. Repetition with a difference in these
two narratives shows how fickle we can be in allotting and denying sympathy, making it seem less
valuable.
Both tales begin drawing forth a sense of disgust for the situation in ... Show more content on

Myrrha points out her misfortune and state of misery; since she was not been born to those tribes in
which / the mother mates with her own son, the daughter / with her own father (339), she is forlorn
denied the very man for whom [she longs] (339). Overwhelming confusion in each girl s speech elicits
further pity. Byblis begins her speech struggling to interpret her dream; it was a beguiling scene yet
seemed so true (308). Myrrha begins asking, Where has my mind led me? (339), and wonders what
makes this incestuous passion unlawful because [she has] not heard that any god or written law
condemns the union of a parent and his child (Crane on line). She decides that human scruples repress
unions like these; envious law forbids what nature permits (Mandelbaum 339), but later, contrary to
this conclusion, she states she does not want to defile the code / of nature with a lawless flame (340).
Myrrha longs to leave [her] native land (339), but her passion compels her to stay so she can see,
touch, speak to, and especially kiss her father (339 40). She feels these interactions should be
sufficient and doesn t understand what drives her to ask for more. Byblis mind sways when she wishes
the gods had granted she and Caunus all their similarities, excluding their common parents, then

Examples Of Creon A Foil In Antigone
Mask Essay
In the play Antigone by Sophocles, Creon is a foil to Antigone. A foil is when one character contrasts
with another character. Antigone and Creon are complete opposites (besides them both being very
stubborn). Antigone is very loyal to her family, and buries Polyneices even though she knew she
would be punished. Antigone is also very independent. She stood for what she believed in on her own,
while those around her were too scared. Creon has no loyalty to his family, and refuses to honor
Polyneices because he sees him as a traitor. He also revolves around power and believes his laws
comes over God s laws. Creon suffers from too much pride. Antigone and Creon come in contrast with
each other, therefore this is a foil relationship. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This mask is full of pastel colors, flowers, and words that represented her perfectly. When I picture
Antigone, these characteristics come to my mind. The flowers and pastel colors represent her
innocence and how she is a bloom of Oedipus. Antigone was so loyal and devoted to her brother that
she died for him. She was brave, for she stood up too Creon even though no one stood behind her.
Antigone was kind, and she put herself before others. Antigone is a wonderful character to look up to,
for she symbolizes bravery, loyalty, and kindness. My contrasting mask was Creon. This masks
opposes Antigone´s, and is full of darker colors, scary features, and words with a negative
connotation. The dark colors are for his control, and love for power. Creon´s picture in my mind is a
very scary person, therefore skulls and fire were included on this mask. Words such as control and
power were added as well. Creon had all the wrong ideas about ruling a kingdom, for he was
controlling and

What Can Social Psychology Teach Us About What Happened At...
What can social psychology teach us about what happened at Abu Ghraib? By Mandy Stead During
the Iraq war that between 2003 and 2006, the united states army committed a series of human rights
violations against prisoners at Abu Ghraib prison near Bagdad. The violations included murder, sexual
and physical abuse, rape, torturer, sodomy, humiliating and dehumanizing prisoners. In 2004 the abuse
that was carried out was exposed by the publication of images that were taken by the soldiers that
carried out the violations. This paper will be looking at what social psychology can teach us about
what happened at Abu Ghraib. The abuse took place in tier 1A on the night shift. The soldiers involved
were all reserve soldiers who were not prepared or trained for this mission. They were asked to
interrogate the detainees take the gloves off to extract information out of them. The soldiers were
pressured into crossing the line to gain information by the centre intelligence agency, tier 1A was
known as the interrogation hold. One detained was mentally ill, he covered himself in faeces every
day, the soldiers would have to role him in sand so he wouldn t smell so bad and they named him

Advantages And Disadvantages Of A Virtual Team
A virtual team are a group of people who work interdependently towards a shared purpose across

organizations.
Due to rapid technological advancement, virtual working has significantly changed over the years

What most researchers do not offer are critics to management deficits.
There tends to be a discrepancy when generalizations are made that the advantages of virtual teams
are far more than the disadvantages. Most researchers tend to concentrate on one side of the issue
either positively or negatively hence a possibility of narrow and biased conclusions.
The main flaw of virtual working researches relies on personal opinion rather than empirical data.
Absence of supporting evidence gives no way to judge the validity of the conclusions and as a result
undermine to the value of the work. These issues and problems with virtual teams tend to fade as the
team members become more experienced with the systems in virtual workplace(Lipnack, 1997).

Near the top of the textbook, right near the title, there is a British flag. Britain had a gargantuan impact

Refugees Of The Arab Spring
Refugees Crisis in Europe
In December 15 of 2010, a Tunisian citizen burned himself to draw public opinion to the bad
economical situation in Tunisia. This was the first spark of the Arab Spring, which began in Tunisia
and continues to many Arabian countries such as Libya, Egypt and Syria. The Arab Spring has
affected many innocent citizens around the Middle East. The Arab Spring s purpose was seeking better
life. However, civil wars and lack of safety turned The Middle East into a dangerous environment to
live. Suffering ethnic wars and random aerial bombardment forced those citizens to run for their lives
looking for a better environment to live and raise their children. Most of these affected countries are
located close to the European union countries specially Turkey, Greece and Italy. The European union
decides to help those countries by relocated those huge numbers of refugees to other member
countries. Considering the unstable situation in the surrounding countries, Europe is the only safe
refuge for those innocents refugees. This huge displacement has affected the European economy since
those desperate people are looking for shelters and job opportunities. Some of The European Union
countries are either surviving economical issues or already have a corrupted economy. An increasing
number of refugees crawl to Europe. The EU had to come with a plan to distribute the refugees among

Dna Database Ethics
How would you feel about a DNA database having record of every man, woman and child in the
United States? Many questions are raised on whether it is ethical to have, safe and beneficial. A
national DNA database could help solve crimes, but it also allows for thousands of innocent people to
be at risk. Many argue against having a DNA database and many are for a database. I am going to
argue against having a national DNA database because it has potential of being hacked, it is a violation
of individual rights and DNA is not 100% accurate. A national DNA database would be under control
by the government, but is the government able to create such a secure system to protect valuable

Though there are many arguments against having a DNA database there are also reasons to have a
DNA database. DNA is one of the leading factors in putting criminals behind bars. When DNA is
evident in a criminal case, it makes that case a lot stronger. With a database of all citizens DNA it can
help law enforcement catch criminals to make communities safer. DNA will not only be able to help
solve crimes ongoing now and for the future but to help solve past crimes. DNA also allows for
scientist to use the valuable information for research to get a better understanding of health and safety
for individuals and to help link people who have the same medical condition. With an entire database
of all people, it allows for the system to not be discriminatory. Minorities make up the vast majority of
the criminal justice system. With every race, gender and ethnicity in the system it opens up the ability
for all people to be at risk for being in the system with DNA placing them for a crime and making it
harder to get away with one. There is also a possibility that having a DNA database will lower crime
rates. People who feel they can get away with crimes now, will have a higher chance of getting caught.
Those who fear getting caught because the government and police agencies have their DNA will be
less likely to commit crimes. Mark Kleiman a professor who deals with criminal justice stated, DNA

Hobbes First Three Laws of Nature and the Fool s Objection
Thomas Hobbes begins The Leviathan by establishing the idea that all men are created equal, although
every man perceives himself as smarter than the next. As Hobbes says: [men] will hardly believe there
are many so wise as themselves; for they see their own wit at hand, and other men s at a distance (25).
He then argues for psychological egoism, describing mankind as driven by self interest and,
ultimately, only self interest. This leads mankind to a constant state of war where human beings will
pit themselves against each other in competition because if any two men desire the same thing, which
nevertheless they cannot both enjoy, they become enemies: (25). Hobbes ... Show more content on

leviathan government to make and regulate laws at a high level of efficiency, hence the title of his
work (the bible refers to the leviathan as a massive sea monster. Hobbes derives his Third Law of
Nature from the second, which states it necessary that men perform their covenants made (31),
because a covenant becomes void is any member violates or is reasonably suspected of violating the
regulations of the covenant. In order to fortify what appears to be a fragile idea of a social contract, the
members of the contract need to set up some sort of governing body that will punish violators of the
covenant. The level and extremity of the punishment is important, because the terror of...punishment
[must be] greater than the benefit they expect by the breach of their covenant (31). The idea is not only
to punish those who break the laws of the social contract, but to scare off individuals from ever doing
so. To carry out the regulations of a society, the members establish a commonwealth, which represents
the general sentiment or voice of the society either through one leader or an assembly of them. The
Third Law of Nature creates a sound society where peace is

How Did Van Eyck Became An Artist
Though not much is known about Van Eyck during his earlier life. It is said that he either decided after
a while to go to art school after being influenced by his brother Herbert van Eyck. Another thought is
while growing up with his brother Herbert, he decided to learn art but it is thought that he did not have
enough money for art school so he spent many years studying under his brother. The main reason that
Van Eyck became an artist way that he grew up with around 5 brothers and 5 sisters and all of them
were artists so that s the most likely reason he became an artist. So Van Eyck grew up with near 5

The Tragedy Of My Uncle Khaled And The Gulf War Of 1990-91
The Tragedy of My Uncle Khaled and the Gulf War of 1990 91 In his chapter from On Writing Well
dealing with family history, author William Zinsser has written, Writers are the custodians of memory.
(281) This means that those who write preserve history. I hope to accomplish this here by
remembering my late uncle Khaled s experience of the Iraqi invasion, and occupation of, my native
country of Kuwait. In doing such a nonfiction assignment, it is important to recall something else

One could even add Syria, a violent enemy of Iraq. This was the normal opinion held by Kuwaitis for
as long as the first two weeks of Iraqi occupation. The opinion increased or decreased in intensity with
statements made at Arab League meetings for and against the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait, as well as
strong public denunciations by foreign nations (especially the U.S.) of the invasion or less passionate,
neutral, comments made by other countries (particularly China). As the end of the first month of the
occupation approached with no action taken by the Arab League, nor anyone else, my uncle s opinion
changed along with everyone else s in our tiny country. When he would visit us he would still appear
at least partially optimistic, commenting that The world does not seem ready to take action yet, but it
will. In the meantime, the Iraqis will tire of this game soon enough and leave. Here, again, the
opposite seemed true. As time passed, the Iraqis appeared only to increase the presence of their forces
in Kuwait. Whereas Iraqi forces at first had seemed more scattered in numbers throughout the
neighborhoods of the capital city, perhaps as only smaller squads of men, by the second month they

W B Yeats Research Paper
Irish poets, learn your trade, sing whatever is well made, scorn the sort now growing up all out of
shape from toe to top. (Yeats n.p.) If there is one thing that can drive a human being, it is pride.
Whether this pride is in yourself, or in a larger form, it is a fuel that keeps us moving and improving
and constantly creating. William Butler Yeats was an artist who had immense pride, not just for
himself as a writer, but exorbitantly in his home country of Ireland. This would be described as
nationalism in modern times. Nationalism is defined as an extreme form of patriotic feeling,
principles, or efforts, especially accompanied by a feeling of superiority over other countries. From
adulthood to his elderly years, Yeats kept to this definition. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This minority had controlled political, social, and cultural life in Ireland since the end of the 17th
century, and many who belonged to this group preferred to think of themselves as Irish born English
folk; however, W.B. Yeats was incredibly proud of his Irish heritage, with a strong self image of an
artist. He preferred to be prideful about the rich culture, he was a part of, preferring the beautiful
scenery of home to anywhere else in the world. These personal convictions caused many accuse him
of elitism, but also contributed to his perceived greatness as a writer. In 1885 his nationalist attitude
only grew stronger, this largely due in part to his new found friend John O Leary. O Leary was a
recently returned prisoner, and famous patriot, who had been incarcerated and exiled 20 years for his
revolutionary nationalist activities. The former revolutionist had a great love for Irish arts and
literature, which inspired Yeats to begin producing many poems based on Irish legends, folklore,
ballads, and songs. While his friendship with John O Leary was brief, it only nourished his
nationalism and made way for many literary works to come in his

Persuasive Essay On Home Maintenance
It s tempting to disregard the steep price tag and hire a professional contractor for home improvement
repairs rather than doing them yourself. Home repairs can seem complex and intimidating to the
uninitiated, and fear that your own attempts at fixing that leaky faucet or drafty window will cause
further damage may further discourage you from going DIY.
However, having a home maintenance plan can make a huge difference in your bank account. And,
fortunately, performing proper home maintenance does not require a lot of specialized know how or
training, nor does it require a lot of time or money.
SIMPLE HOME MAINTENANCE TIPS
1. TOILETS
Water leaking from your toilet tank will not only cost you money when it comes to your utility bill,
but it can also cause water damage to your bathroom floor and premature wear of your toilet s internal
workings. To find out whether your toilet tank is leaking, add some red food coloring to the water in
the tank. Come back in about an hour and see if the water in the bowl is pink. If it is, you have a leak.
If you find that your toilet is leaking from the tank to the bowl, the flapper needs to be replaced. To
change your toilet s flapper, first shut off the water supply to your toilet. To do this, simply turn the
water valve located directly behind the toilet. Remove the tank lid and flush the toilet in order to
empty the tank. Use a towel or sponge to mop out any excess water left in the tank. Remove the flush
chain from the lever, and

Global Warming Position Paper
Although some believe that Global Warming has been created due to manmade pollutants, I believe
that Global Warming is a natural process that has been accelerated due to the excess emissions of
pollutants from nature and manmade devices into the atmosphere. The world has been said to be on a
cycle of global warming and cooling, this process can neither be stopped nor prevented, but it can be
accelerated with the addition of non natural emissions from automobiles and factories; because this is
a natural process, even if constraints were to be put on the amount of pollutants released into the air

Slowing the process of global warming would allow us, as a worldwide power, to take preventative
measures that could cut back the amount of damage that global warming can cause though it would be
hard, if we could cut back on work hours of large factories and put together more public transportation
for the working class then we could slow global warming within the next few years. This idea, if
enacted, has the potential to harm the economy of many nations, because the working hours would be
cut in factories that employ thousands of employees, but it also can allow for scientists and engineers
to come up with a plan that could prevent/lower the amount of risk we have environmentally from
being impacted by global warming and its effects. It has the potential to harm the economy of other
nations, because shortening the amount of hours that their factories are allowed to run can raise
production time and cost this would lead to the increase in price of items, because it would take more
money and time to produce these goods rather than if they were able to work for a longer amount of
time and produce more goods in this time period. The reward outweighs the risk, though; this is
because if global warming is not slowed down, then the sea level can rise sooner than we are able

Richard Cory American Dream
One of Edwin Arlington Robinson s most popular and well known poems, Richard Cory, was first
published in 1987. The poem is a narrative that illustrates how the poor perceived a powerful, wealthy,
and well educated man who unexpectedly committed suicide. From the poor s perception, the reader
has a limited point of view into Richard Cory s personal life; therefore, we are unable to understand
Richard Cory s reasoning for committing suicide. What the reader does know is that Richard Cory was
living the American Dream, a desirable lifestyle to the poor people of society. While the definition has
changed throughout history, the American Dream has become known as the ideal that every US citizen
should have an equal opportunity to achieve success, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The last two lines of the first stanza show Richard Cory s high social/economic status: He was a
gentleman from sole to crown, clean favored, and imperially slim. During this time period, gentlemen
were considered high class men, not just kind and respectful. The phrases from soul to crown and
imperially slim portray Richard Cory as royal, expressing the poor s perception of Richard Cory as a
celebrity. In the second stanza, the narrator describes Richard Cory as being quietly arrayed (line 5),
meaning he was dressed in conservative apparel, not trying to draw attention to himself. This shows
Richard Cory was humble despite his high economic/social status. Although Richard Cory is
portrayed as down to earth and human when he talked (line 6), the poor were charmed with fluttered
pulses (line 7) by his greetings along the street. The last line of the second stanza shows the poor
people s admiration for Richard Cory: he glittered (shined) when he walked. Such admiration and awe
for an upper class man makes Richard Cory a celebrity figure in the poor s perception. Not only was
Richard Cory of high status and good nature, he was living the American

Different Kinds Of Information Involving Macro Environment
In this project I am going to offer different kinds of information involving Macro environment (or

projecting different data such as age range, family status and the various ethnic groups that we can

with Harold though she was four times his age. Love knows no barriers. Love recognizes no
boundaries. She is a human being capable of love and loving. Her age gave her wisdom through her
experiences in her younger years. Her kind of love doesn t ask anything in return. Love is a wonderful
thing; it is selfless. And Harold was the recipient of her love. Her lively and positive outlook in life is
the outcome of the rough times she had in the past. And she is thankful she s able to watch the sunset
and glorious birds with a Harold. Philippians 2: 4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests
but also to the interests of others . Though she fell in love with Harold before her 80th birthday, her

Sage In Ojibwe Essay
Sage has been a part of Ojibwe culture for thousands of years. Sage is one the four main medicines in
Ojibwe culture along with tobacco, cedar, and sweet grass. In most Ojibwe ceremonies, sage is used in
the beginning of the ceremony to smudge the people attending the ceremony. When sage is burned, the
smoke is used to cleanse the body and mind. For the hands, the sage cleanses what is touched. Sage
cleanses the ears so we can hear all things in a good way. It cleanses out the mind so we can think
good things with nothing negative. Traditionally, sage is used for headaches and helps with allergies.
Sage can also be mixed with other medicines into teas to help with indigestion, menstrual cycle

Palladio s Influence On America
Prior to writing his four published book on architecture Palladio had written two different books that
was based on architecture. These books were published in 1554 in Rome while he was visiting
Daniele Barbaro. Essentially the purpose of the books was to serve as guidebooks for historical
monuments within Rome. The first book he had written contained short descriptions for travelers that
discussed the appearance and history of classical ruins. His guidebook was actually a replacement for
an older medieval guidebook, which focused more on the mythical side of Rome. Palladio s book
stood out because he pertained more to factual information rather than fictional. Many people, who

His design features such as porticos, classical orders, and dwellings have inspired many American
architects to recreate these designs in their buildings. As previously mentioned, porticos represent the
importance of the residents and enhanced the architecture. The Frascati building in Virginia proves
that the portico served as a symbol of importance because the resident was a member of the U.S.
Supreme Court. This buildings portico is almost identical to Palladio s Villa Emo s. There are many
other buildings in America that have integrated this feature into their designs following Palladio s
principles. Nevertheless there are other modern day architects who did not follow his principles and
the porticos are unsymmetrical. Although some have failed to follow his principles there are some
buildings that portray his designs well. An example of an American building with a portico is
Whitehall. The portico is located in the central section of the building. Along with the portico the
architect of this building incorporated Corinthian columns into the design, a classical order that was

Play Psychology
Introduction
To the general public, play is viewed as a nonchalant activity that children engage in to preoccupy
their time. However, occupational therapists view play as the fundamental occupation that introduces
a child to the world around them. According to Fazio, 2008, Play is important because it is an effective
way to develop other functions, such as sensory integrative, motor, social, cognitive, self care, or work
skills (as cited in Parham, 1996). In class, we watched a video and observed a thirteen month old boy,
named Noah. He was examined by Jacqui in what seemed to be a playroom in his home along with a

His response, indicates that the reflex has not yet integrate, which explains his inability to
independently walk. This is not abnormal for a child at his age, because it is a fairly new skill that he
is learning to master. In fact, Noah was able to walk while pushing the cart which shows that there is a
likelihood that Noah will eventually learn walk on his own. In addition, Noah is able to shift from a sit
to crawl position, and even used the ottoman to pull himself to stand. These specific behaviors
contribute to Noah s ability to explore his surrounding environment. (In text citation), explained that
mobility contributes to exposing the child to new avenues of exploration and ignites the sense of

Theseus and the Minotaur, children were used as sacrifices to make the Capitol and/or Minotaur seem

Greek myth of Theseus and the Minotaur as punishment for displeasing Crete, seven youths and seven

Theseus is successful in killing the beast and becomes the epic hero of this story.
In the Hunger Games, children were sent into an arena to kill each other as sacrifices this was a

thrust belts. Several techniques have been applied to understand the shortening rates in active
collisional belts like the Himalayas. These estimates have been derived by Global Positioning System
(GPS) for shorter timescales and balanced cross sections for longer time scales (Long et al., 2012).
The preliminary studies conducted in the eastern Himalayas using GPS states that modern shortening
rates are in the order of ~15 20 mm/yr to 20 12 mm/yr (Bilhan et al., 1997; Larson et al., 1999;
Banerjee and Burgmann, 2002; Zhang et al., 2004). Using balanced cross section techniques DeCelles
et al., (2002) and Long et al., (2011b) estimated that close to 400 670 km of crustal shortening has
been accommodated in eastern thrust belt during 23 25 Ma range, giving the shortening rate of 16 29
mm/yr. Both of these techniques provides shortening rates that are quite similar and shows the motion
along basal dècollement have been constant through time (Herman et al., 2010). While the shortening
rates seems constant throughout the Himalayan thrust belt, petrologic, geochronologic, and structure
studies suggest

Export Regulations
Compliance with customs rules and regulations must be followed in order to properly import and
export goods. In regards to import regulations the importer of record files the customs entry using the
US Customs 7501 form. The importer of record can also file the US Customs release with 3461 form.
It is up to the importer to arrange the exam and release of goods. The following documentation is
required with entry: bill of lading, commercial invoice and packing list. Another requirement for
imports is to have a Customs bond filed to cover the value of the cargo. For export, it is required to
submit the shipper s export declaration (SED) through the automated export system (AES). Prior to

What Is Male Dominance In The Yellow Wallpaper
Introduction
Charlotte Perkins Gilman is an author, but also a well known feminist who believed that
heterosexuality had become the means by which men subjected women through an economic
dependency . (feminism 1) Throughout my research there is one word that best describes the era of a
male dominated and controlled society, Patriarch! During this period of male dominance, Gilman
wrote The Yellow Wallpaper to prove a point and to get Dr. Weir Mitchell to change his ways. (3).
Gilman suffered from neurasthenic, melancholia, suicidal depression and after the birth of her child
post partum depression. Gilman was a patient of Dr. Mitchell and was prescribed the Rest Cure ,
which is to rest and never write again. Gilman follows the recommended prescription for a month but
found it was weakening her intellect. The Yellow Wallpaper was written during the time of a
patriarchal society and the reader becomes witness to male dominance. The male dominance in The
Yellow Wallpaper represses the narrator s ability to control her own mental health.

Society s influence of male domination over women s bodies, minds and economy force women to
adhere to a male view. Women during this time period were directed to become exceptional
housewives and mothers instead of reaching for specific careers or financial independency. Instead,
society encouraged women into becoming domestic, obedient housewives who were discouraged to go
against their husbands, brothers or any male. Women were to obey men and their requests, or suffer

Joan Of Arc As A Saint
From Stake to Saint Medieval knights are known for being strong, brave, and faithful. However, a
well known warrior in the Hundred Years War also shares these attributes. What makes her different is
that she was a French peasant girl. At the age of 13, Joan of Arc heard voices from God telling her to
save France. In the midst of the Hundred Years War, a conflict between England and France for the
French throne, Joan was told to drive the English out of France, and see that Charles VII receive the
crown. As a devout Catholic, Joan was going to make sure this happened. Joan s courage and
determination let her accomplish her task. Even in her darkest times, she stayed strong and faithful.
She inspires people to this day, and left a legacy. Even though she was burned at the stake after being
accused of witchcraft, she is remembered as a saint and a hero. Joan of Arc s many achievements in
battle and her legacy in French history lived on for her to become a saint centuries later. Joan of Arc
started her journey to becoming a saint in 1428, when she felt that heavenly voices spoke to her (Beck
360). The voices informed her that Charles VII was the true king of France, and needed to get the
crown. He was called Dauphin, or rightful heir. Joan seeked an audience with him, and ventured to
Vaucouleurs, a stronghold of Charles VII, where she told the captain of the garrison about her visions.
Unfortunately, he did not believe her, so he sent her home. However, Joan refused to give

better time to come for all. This novel takes place in a post apocalyptic future, where the living are

box, putting everyone in it, and standing at the door with guns... (71), he does not realize that through
the process of that, a different type of virus affected him; a virus that takes away all humanity by
trying to salvage others . Julie tries to remind him that if there is hope, it can make life a dream again.
She continues to make her father rid himself of his ignorance , however, he does not listen to her
hopeful thought. After finishing Perry s brain, R experiences something he has never experienced

Social Reality And Its Effect On Self Image
The idea that humans internalize their cultures social norms to a degree at which these norms affect
their self image is a long debated argument among many social sciences. From psychology to history,
the idea of socialization has sprung a diverse variety of theories, all proclaiming that their theory is the
answer. All of these social theories provoke questions about social reality. Social reality is a complex
evaluation of what is considered biological reality and what is considered individual cognitive reality.
These realities are created by social interaction thus influencing individual motives and actions, so
how can one theory answer it all. Dennis H. Wrong (1961), an American sociologist and professor of
sociology at New York University, suggests that much like the question of social reality the answer is
complex thus no single theory can correctly affiliate with all the problems surrounding social reality.
Wrong s (1961) reflection on the one sided answer of social reality is argued in his work published by
the American Sociological Review, titled The Over socialization Conception of Man in Modern
Sociology. Wrong states Sociological theory originates in the asking of general questions about man
and society. The answers lose their meaning if they are elaborated without reference to the question, as
has been the case (Wrong 1961:183) Wrong later supports his claim by critiquing two of the leading
theories on socialization, the Freudian view of man and the Hobbesian

Indigenous Studies
Indigenous Studies Topic: The colonisation of Australia was based on the legal fiction of terra nullius.
Compare and contrast the consequences of terra nullius on the experience of Australian Indigenous
people, with indigenous peoples experiences of colonisation in Canada. Word count: 2,014 Making
cultural or political comparisons between Canada and Australia is not a new phenomenon. Both are
now independent former colonies of Great Britain, who have inherently adopted many of its laws,
identity and traditions. Geographically, the nations are both large, relatively isolated, with most of its
inhabitants residing in large cities, or along the coastline (Robinson, 1991; Jeans, 1977). Making

Although nomadic, American Indians were initially seen as quite technologically advanced (in
comparison to other indigenous people the British had encountered). Signs of civilisation by western
standards were evident. Some communities had established farms, fishing facilities and trading, while
many Indian tribes were also formidable military opponents. Ottawa Chief, Potiac, had successfully
demonstrated defiance of crown rule over their land by briefly seizing British military posts
(Chartrand, 2010). Throughout the colonising effort, British powers quickly established that Canada
was not terra nullius. By 1763, the Royal Proclamation declared King George III as the ultimate
dominion over North America, but title rights to land belonged to First Nation People. Only through
treaties between tribes and the crown, could land be sold or ceded. Furthermore, upon selling or
trading land, native title was also seen to have extinguished (Dickason, 1992; Robinson, 1991). The
Royal Proclamation is still in effect these days, with the Indian Act enforcing Indigenous lands to be
vested with the Crown. Consequently, this law has created a sense of distrust between Canadian
government and First Nation people, similar to the cynicism between many Australian Aboriginal
communities and their federal government. There is a general belief that North American lands are
still in jeopardy, as long as legal titles remain outside of Indigenous people s control. Despite the

  • 2. Ivanka Trump Persuasive Speech (Insert Creative Title ;) ) Many people may believe the First Daughter, Ivanka Trump, is just the rich daughter of the president. However, she is much more than what society wants to think of her. Over the last 2 years, Ivanka Trump has risen to become a strong advocate for Women s Rights and education. Ivanka Trump is the most influential activist of female empowerment of the gender gap, proper education, and STEM careers. What makes Ivanka Trump stand apart is her willingness to make ideas happen. Our society needs more activists like her. Today, women all over the world are separated by a gender gap that affects making the same wages as men. According to a study done by the American Association of University Women, Women working full time in the United States typically were paid just 80 percent of what men were paid, a gap of 20 percent (Miller, Kevin). Ivanka Trump has proven her strong support for shattering the pay gap. The pay gap has been closing since 1970. It has been estimated to take another 170 years to close the gap which is unacceptable (Shelbourne, Mallory) according to Ivanka Trump and World Bank President Jim Yong Kim. Single women without children earn 94 cents for each dollar earned by a man, whereas married mothers earned only 77 cents. Gender is no longer a factor in creating the greatest wage discrepancy in this country. Motherhood is. It tells of how Anu, the sky god, tells Aruru, the mother goddess, to create something that was equal to Gilgamesh in power. Aruru makes this man out of clay and calls him Enkidu. Enkidu was a mixture between a man and some type of animal; therefore, he was able to live in the forest alongside of animals. A trapper who hunted in that same forest became angry that Enkidu was setting traps free. After going to his father, the trapper travels to Gilgamesh for help. Gilgamesh gives the trapper a harlot named Shamhat to take back with him who will seduce Enkidu and turn him into a man. When Shamhat reaches Enkidu, she beguiles him and he turns human. Now, Enkidu is not able to roam with animals, instead he scares them. Shamhat reveals to Enkidu that Gilgamesh has had dreams about him coming. Enkidu and Shamhat make a journey to Uruk so Enkidu can battle Gilgamesh. Following a fight between them, Enkidu and Gilgamesh resolve their problems and become friends. • 4. The Tragic Hero Of Shakespeare s Hamlet [insert introduction here] Macbeth and Hamlet are both tragic heroes whose fall from greatness disturbs the order of their kingdoms. A tragic hero is a character, one of high esteem, whose internal imperfection leads to their downfall. Both Macbeth and Hamlet are well known and of high social class when an unexpected calamity hits. Hamlet, the son of the king of Denmark, is a charismatic prince most immediate to [the] throne (Shakespeare, Ham I.ii.109). It can be inferred that he lives a rather extravagant and convenient lifestyle. That is, until his father dies and his uncle takes both the throne and Hamlet s mother as wife. His reaction upon learning this fate is twofold: Macbeth can wait patiently for legitimate royalty, or he can give into his black and deep desires, and steal the throne from Duncan (X). Hamlet s fate, on the other hand, is to set right the murder of his father(x). It both cases, neither of the characters fates are what killed them, but rather their tragic flaws. While Macbeth ultimately succumbs to his unchecked ambition and rashly murders any potential and unlikely threat to the throne, Hamlet procrastinates and fails to fulfill his revenge in a timely, simplistic manner. Because of his uncontrolled ambition, Macbeth blindly trusts the witches who promise inviolable royalty, murders his closest friend, and kills the family of his nemesis. Hamlet, on the other hand, weary of the legitimacy of the supernatural, puts on an antic disposition and delays his revenge as he searches for confirmation of the ghost s accusations (x). Hamlet s procrastination causes him to miss multiple opportunities at revenge. For example, he chooses not to kill a vulnerable, praying Claudius (x). In this way, Macbeth and Hamlet fall victim to their own actions. Had Macbeth been satisfied with just his throne, he would not have risen any suspicion amongst the others. He is describing how he gets two different viewpoints of heaven from each sister, and it confuses him. Huck is not able to truly learn about the greatness of heaven and Christianity because the sisters contradict and that is not something he wants to follow. Huck quickly decides both places seem undesirable to him. This quote about the sisters shows Twain s distaste for the hypocritical religious people during this time. He demonstrated people contradicting themselves, as well as saying one thing and then doing another. Another example of religious hypocrisy in the novel is the feuding families. The Grangerfords and Sheperdsons have been in a feud for 30 years, and cannot even remembered why it started. The hypocrisy here is seen in the faithfulness of local congregations. In the case of Beatrice and Benedict, their trust in the admonition of their peers led them to be manipulated and their thoughts were tainted. However, their deception turned out to catalyst true love. As soon as their love virus spread, the two witty, independent individuals completely dismissed the disdain that they so grudgingly held for one another. This satiric event exposes the idea that quite possibly one should spend a bit more time processing and questioning information handed to them. Beatrice and Benedict fell into the influence of the conspirators and all previous ideas of one another dissipated. In my personal opinion, I would have a bit more trouble than Beatrice when falling for a man who referred to her as Lady Disdain and who compared her intellectual, tenacious wit to a horse (pg. 12). So either the people of Shakespeare s time didn t hold grudges, or he is making fun of people who will give up all prior knowledge in the interest of love. • 10. Examples Of Creon A Foil In Antigone Mask Essay In the play Antigone by Sophocles, Creon is a foil to Antigone. A foil is when one character contrasts with another character. Antigone and Creon are complete opposites (besides them both being very stubborn). Antigone is very loyal to her family, and buries Polyneices even though she knew she would be punished. Antigone is also very independent. She stood for what she believed in on her own, while those around her were too scared. Creon has no loyalty to his family, and refuses to honor Polyneices because he sees him as a traitor. He also revolves around power and believes his laws comes over God s laws. • 26. W B Yeats Research Paper Irish poets, learn your trade, sing whatever is well made, scorn the sort now growing up all out of shape from toe to top. (Yeats n.p.) If there is one thing that can drive a human being, it is pride. Whether this pride is in yourself, or in a larger form, it is a fuel that keeps us moving and improving and constantly creating. William Butler Yeats was an artist who had immense pride, not just for himself as a writer, but exorbitantly in his home country of Ireland. This would be described as nationalism in modern times. Nationalism is defined as an extreme form of patriotic feeling, principles, or efforts, especially accompanied by a feeling of superiority over other countries. He preferred to be prideful about the rich culture, he was a part of, preferring the beautiful scenery of home to anywhere else in the world. These personal convictions caused many accuse him of elitism, but also contributed to his perceived greatness as a writer. In 1885 his nationalist attitude only grew stronger, this largely due in part to his new found friend John O Leary. O Leary was a recently returned prisoner, and famous patriot, who had been incarcerated and exiled 20 years for his revolutionary nationalist activities. The former revolutionist had a great love for Irish arts and literature, which inspired Yeats to begin producing many poems based on Irish legends, folklore, ballads, and songs. • 27. Persuasive Essay On Home Maintenance It s tempting to disregard the steep price tag and hire a professional contractor for home improvement repairs rather than doing them yourself. Home repairs can seem complex and intimidating to the uninitiated, and fear that your own attempts at fixing that leaky faucet or drafty window will cause further damage may further discourage you from going DIY. However, having a home maintenance plan can make a huge difference in your bank account. And, fortunately, performing proper home maintenance does not require a lot of specialized know how or training, nor does it require a lot of time or money. SIMPLE HOME MAINTENANCE TIPS 1. TOILETS Water leaking from your toilet tank will not only cost you money when it comes to your utility bill, but it can also cause water damage to your bathroom floor and premature wear of your toilet s internal workings. To find out whether your toilet tank is leaking, add some red food coloring to the water in the tank. Come back in about an hour and see if the water in the bowl is pink. If it is, you have a leak. If you find that your toilet is leaking from the tank to the bowl, the flapper needs to be replaced. To change your toilet s flapper, first shut off the water supply to your toilet. To do this, simply turn the water valve located directly behind the toilet. Remove the tank lid and flush the toilet in order to empty the tank. Use a towel or sponge to mop out any excess water left in the tank. Remove the flush chain from the lever, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This idea, if enacted, has the potential to harm the economy of many nations, because the working hours would be cut in factories that employ thousands of employees, but it also can allow for scientists and engineers to come up with a plan that could prevent/lower the amount of risk we have environmentally from being impacted by global warming and its effects. It has the potential to harm the economy of other nations, because shortening the amount of hours that their factories are allowed to run can raise production time and cost this would lead to the increase in price of items, because it would take more money and time to produce these goods rather than if they were able to work for a longer amount of time and produce more goods in this time period. Understanding variable shortening rates in the Himalayan thrust belt of Sikkim and western Bhutan using various thermochronologic data. An NSF proposal written by Sameer Baral Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences University of Houston, Houston, TX, USA Introduction Crustal shortening is the primary result of a continent continent collision in the orogenic thrust belts. Several techniques have been applied to understand the shortening rates in active collisional belts like the Himalayas. These estimates have been derived by Global Positioning System (GPS) for shorter timescales and balanced cross sections for longer time scales (Long et al., 2012). The preliminary studies conducted in the eastern Himalayas using GPS states that modern shortening rates are in the order of ~15 20 mm/yr to 20 12 mm/yr (Bilhan et al., 1997; Larson et al., 1999; Banerjee and Burgmann, 2002; Zhang et al., 2004). Using balanced cross section techniques DeCelles et al., (2002) and Long et al., (2011b) estimated that close to 400 670 km of crustal shortening has been accommodated in eastern thrust belt during 23 25 Ma range, giving the shortening rate of 16 29 mm/yr. Both of these techniques provides shortening rates that are quite similar and shows the motion along basal dècollement have been constant through time (Herman et al., 2010). • 43. Social Reality And Its Effect On Self Image The idea that humans internalize their cultures social norms to a degree at which these norms affect their self image is a long debated argument among many social sciences. From psychology to history, the idea of socialization has sprung a diverse variety of theories, all proclaiming that their theory is the answer. All of these social theories provoke questions about social reality. Social reality is a complex evaluation of what is considered biological reality and what is considered individual cognitive reality. These realities are created by social interaction thus influencing individual motives and actions, so how can one theory answer it all. Dennis H. Wrong (1961), an American sociologist and professor of sociology at New York University, suggests that much like the question of social reality the answer is complex thus no single theory can correctly affiliate with all the problems surrounding social reality. Wrong s (1961) reflection on the one sided answer of social reality is argued in his work published by the American Sociological Review, titled The Over socialization Conception of Man in Modern Sociology. Wrong states Sociological theory originates in the asking of general questions about man and society. The answers lose their meaning if they are elaborated without reference to the question, as has been the case (Wrong 1961:183) Wrong later supports his claim by critiquing two of the leading theories on socialization, the Freudian view of man and the Hobbesian ...
