Symptoms, Causes, And Treatments Of Schizophrenia
Symptoms, Causes, and Treatments of Schizophrenia
Cassidy Echalico
Florida State College at Jacksonville
Symptoms, Causes, and Treatments of Schizophrenia Schizophrenia is a stigmatized disease that
labels victims as crazy. One percent of people develop schizophrenia in their lifetime; more than two
million Americans suffer from schizophrenia in a given year (Spearing, 1999). Although
schizophrenia affects men and women equally, it often appears earlier in men than in women; Men are
generally affected in the late teens to early twenties and women are generally affected in the twenties
to early thirties (Spearing, 1999). Schizophrenia is highly uncommon in children, affecting only about
1 in 40,000 in comparison to 1 in 100 in adults. Many of the victims do not realize they have
schizophrenia until they have a first episode psychosis (Aas, Andreassen, Aminoff, Faerden, Romm,
Nesvayeng, Berg, Simonsen, Agartz, and Melle. 2016). While many people only know the stereotyped
effects of schizophrenia, a better understanding of the symptoms, causes, and possible treatments can
clear many stigmas up.
According to the National Institute of Mental Health, schizophrenia is a chronic and severe mental
disorder that affects how a person thinks, feels, and behaves (National Institute of Mental Health,
2016). Symptoms of schizophrenia include positive, negative, and cognitive affluences (National
Institute of Mental Health, 2016). Positive symptoms include behaviors that are not seen in

Integrative Approaches Of Psychology And Christianity
In his book, Integrative Approaches to Psychology and Christianity, David Entwistle (2010) provides a
persuasive discourse for the assimilation of psychology and theology; secular and religious disciplines
that present a multifaceted dialogue shaped by historical interactions and tensions. (p. 51) Of the two
systems, psychology is by much of the Church thought to advocate reason over revelation whereas
theology is, by more secular leaning scholars, thought to be wanting of intellect. With Tertullian s
libretti, what indeed has Athens to do with Jerusalem? (p. 8) in addition to modernism s philosophy of
self consciousness and the skepticism of postmodernism continuing to fan the flames of segregation,
the flawed logic that an integration of psychology and theology is not possible ensues. Throughout his
book, David Entwistle (2010) recurrently echoes the theme that all truth is God s truth. (p. 16)
Entwistle further claims that a person can discern truth from both of God s books (i.e., His Word and
His Works). Entwistle affirms that because God has systematically ordered both His Word and His
Works in such a way that makes integration possible, both psychology and theology are correct in
their interpretations. Nevertheless, religion and psychology are systems of finite understanding and
presuppositions. Therefore, while the certainty that all truth comes from God does not excuse error
from either discipline it does allow for integration since both seek to bare

Nursing Pipeline Program
As a student of Kaplan University it is a privilege to be able to have the opportunity presented by the
dean of the university to develop and idea for development of a pipeline program to increase nursing
students that are finically less fortunate such as single mothers, in order to increase their presence in
the nursing profession and within their communities. Studies have proved that education is associated
with better and improved health outcomes. Higher education is associated with lower mortality rates
(Leeves, 2015). As future Nurse Educators we need to be mindful that our pipelines have to address

Kaplan students will select five single mothers that are finical assistance, have government health
insurance, and are looking for an opportunity to develop a thriving career as a Registered Nurse to
provide excellent care to patients while support her family as a single mother.
The Pipeline program The type of pipeline program that will be offered to single mothers will be a
shadow based opportunity within an Associated Degree level College for Nursing and in a hospital
setting. The program will consist of two ten week courses designated by a Registered Nurse who is in
the Nurse Educator program at Kaplan University. Within this program Nurse Educator will provide a
comfortable psychological and physical environment to potential nursing students. Nurse Educators
will assist learners in developing key skills, learning strategies, a sense of fulfillment, as well as adapt
to new learning experiences participate in monitoring their own progress throughout the pipeline
program. To many individuals, including professionals and the general public, the word learning
conjures the mental image of a classroom or other formal educational setting (Brosseau Liard, 2017).
In doing this, we would like to encourage the single mothers that this is a program that will help not
only to prepare them for a life changing career, but a provide them with an entirely new life. Learning

Summary Of The Unicorn By Dr. Wright
Jayna burst into the clearing on the back of the unicorn. Chaos recognized her immediately.
You!
Jayna demanded, Let them go evil thing!
She was a little disappointed her voice was back to normal, her goddess voice was much more
intimidating. Her heart thumped so hard with fear that she thought it would bruise her ribs.
You re the easiest of all, said the black thing in a voice she recognized. It was Dr. Wright s.
Already Wright s body was being deformed by the being that cohabited it, but when Jayna pulled out
her glowing sword, there was enough of him left that she recognized him. She shuddered when she
realized this would have been her fate if that thing was still inside of her. The thing extended its hand
in her direction and black tendrils rose up out of the ground and wrapped around the unicorn s legs.
Then Jayna s world faded away and she woke up in another.
Elmer was lost in the dark, he couldn t keep up with Jayna and now Chaos had obscured his vision. He
had no choice now, he pulled his hat down over his third eye and headed back to the others.
Shaddrack saw his reflection in the glass shelf behind the counter, he was dismayed to see he was an
old man again. Older even than the man who had failed the first time around. There was nothing to be
done about it, old or not, he had to act quickly. The little girl named Julie Ann and her mother would
be coming through the door in less than a minute. Jefferies had his money and began to turn his gun in

Gender Is A Now A Large Topic For Modern Society
Gender is a now a huge topic for modern days. How can you classify a gender in modern society? The
answer to this question cannot be answered in modern society but in the past countries were the ones
to label genders. Tell them who they are, what is there role, how you support the country in this role.
Nazi Germany told to raise and birth children . Soviet Union you will raise children and birth them but
also be a soldier and fight when needed. You will be treated as a man but with the duty of a woman .
Women in Colonial Quito were legally obligated to practice obedience to their husbands. Women were
dominated by their husbands and faced abused. Because this was how society viewed a role of a
women in their society . Also in Brazil a boy had to act like a man if he was what they defined as a
subversives they were acting feminine and that creates weakness for the nation as acting feminine
allowed them to get pregnant by communism . The gender inequalities and differences have been
socially constructed and scientifically quantified by countries in order to protect the civilization and
control the population. Women in Nazi Germany and Soviet Union both had different social roles in
what they considered service to their country as they were socially constructed to maintain their
civilization. In Nazi Germany the Nation was above all and society had to be shaped the way they saw
pure. Women had to give birth to this pure race and take care of the children. This was your role as

The Existence Of Extraterrestrial Life
Unidentified Flying Objects or UFO sightings have exploded into a worldwide phenomena, but still
there are many people who refuse to believe that extraterrestrial life exist. It is hard for some to wrap
their head around the idea of little green men from outer space being more advanced in space travel
than humans. The earliest UFO sightings in recorded history can be found in 4th century Chinese texts
claiming that a moon boat hovered above China every 12 years, and ever since people have been
claiming to see or be abducted by UFOs ( M.J. Stephey). Aliens exist because of the amount of planets
that can support life, UFOS have been seen all across the world, and there is a FBI agency dedicated
to covering up the existence of extraterrestrial life.
The fact that NASA has spent years searching for planets that could support life makes people wonder
whether there could be life already out there. In 2009 NASA launched the Kepler space telescope
hoping to find as many habitable planets as possible. Kepler has found over 1000 exoplanets and
confirmed that twelve are within habitable zones. Scientists look at many factors to determine in a
planet can be habitable: how close it is to its host star, if it has an atmosphere, and if the planet has
traces of water (Mike Wall). After 15 years of research NASA announced the discovery of water on
Mars. Scientist believe that the red planet could of been covered in oceans at one point in time, but
over time the water evaporated (Nola

They believed (along with society) this was the best thing for a person in this condition. John never
came out and said she was going insane he just said she was stressed and needed rest. He actually told
her not to think about her condition it would only make things worse. So for the few weeks they were
up there she tried to follow his prescription except for when she would secretly write. It was a favorite
passion of hers that gave her a break from societies daily stresses. In this time period women didn t
have as much say as they do now. Both her brother and her husband told her that this was the best
thing for her recovery. She couldn t say no when her husband was telling her not to write. I believe
because of her surroundings that her husband put her in she went insane much faster. The fact that she
couldn t write and didn t really have anyone to talk to drove her to start hallucinating about the women
in the wall. The wallpaper in the room became one of her fetishes. There are things in the wallpaper
that nobody knows about but me, or ever will. (Narrator, 534) It wasn t just a small feddish at the end
but a large portion of her day would be spent contemplating about the walls colors and designs. She
even believed she could smell the wallpaper, throughout the whole house and even in her hair. Her
mind started comprehending her as the woman in the wall. The woman was stuck in the wall night

The Absolute Monarchy, The Baroque, Baroque And The...
The absolute monarchy, the Baroque style and the Scientific Revolution were very critical movements
during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. The similarity and difference of these three movements
marked the beginning of early modern Europe and their interaction with each other made a huge
influence on political and social reform in European countries.
The one thing common in the absolute monarchy, the Baroque style and the Scientific Revolution was
that they all stood for the end of the Middle Ages. The absolute monarchy started a new regime with
the centralized power and the King of supreme. The Baroque period generated a new form of art to
worship the Church and the absolute authority. The Scientific Revolution led to a new era with a
different world view and the development of rationality. However, these three movements built on one
another and impacted the society in different directions, which will be discussed in the following.
The absolute monarchy was a political system reform in order to deal with social turmoil. It was
developing across Europe during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. Around the middle of the
seventeenth century, France experienced a religious strife that the various Parlements and the nobility
started the revolution against the monarch. The Parlements and the nobility asked for the right to claim
the power and weaken the King s regime. The nobility threw France into turmoil by pillaging and
affrighting the innocent people. Under

To the Virgins, and Marvell s To His Coy Mistress. Although their images differ, what do all these
poets seem to be saying about time? Be specific when referring to the poems. The imagery is very
different, but all of the poems and poets seem to be saying time is important in life. In Shakespeare s
Sonnet 18 he says, And every fair from fair sometime declines, when explaining the inevitable decline

Although she deliberately states that she will not judge his actions one way or the other, this is the
only play she vocally states that judgment is needed, thus her implication of his disagreeable actions.
The irony with this belief is that she is clearly anti slavery, but alludes to women following their
husbands rather than having a say in important decisions. For instance, when Tuscan informs
Oroonoko that his wife and children may not be fit to escape through the mountains and woods
Oroonoko says, if there were a woman among them so degenerate from love and virtue to choose
slavery before the pursuit of her husband, and with the hazard of her life to share with him in his
fortunes, that such a one out to be abandoned (2217). This is interesting because Behn has had
personal experience with being oppressed as a result of her gender, yet in this story she condemns
slavery while the hero degrades women. 4. Swift asks those who find fault with his proposal to ask the

American Children Difficulties
American Children Difficulties
I believe there are many difficulties that American children face in society today. First of all, I used to
think American children have it easy; because it s the land of the free. Free alright, free to do and
express anyway you feel is the problem. It seems like freedom of expression is only valid to those who
challenge how the American way used to be. The difficulties I see is, you can be whoever you choose
to be by either gender, religion, or expression, but on the other hand if you are a person who is against
someone else s belief you are considered a racist, bigot, harsh, or an insensitive person who has to
respect for those who choose to be different or what older generations of society calls it, Normal. ...

I think they are losing social skills behind this technology. The connection with parents, siblings, and
even classmates. Yeah it s a very easy and simpler way to get a hold of someone or make an
emergency call if you are stranded or even in danger, but the extras that go along with it which is:
social medical, games, and video chatting, that can cause car accidents, bulling in school, or again
losing social skills. I say all this to bring back the sole purpose and use of the invention was to connect
outside of your home. Thirdly, I feel American children are not in tune with what this country fought
for or been through to be called, Land of the Free. Today in age our President seems to be more
concerned about social media and what people are saying about them rather than lead and unite us.
Our President goes on rants no matter who it hurts or offends, which is creating enemies. Our children
look up to our leaders and believe they can do exactly what they are doing expressing their
Amendment, Freedom of Speech. I call that disrespect. Children think they can disrespect their
teachers, parents, any authority figures, until it gets out of hand. That s why I believe there are so
many protest today. Lastly, I know American children do not face the difficulties that other children
face in other countries, because their dictatorship is different; either the country is poverty stricken or
their religion won t allow them to express or speak their mind. Writing this paper really made me
understand why I am the way I am with my children. My kids are still in elementary school however,

Corruption In George Orwell s Animal Farm
In every society, power and regulation is necessary in ensuring an established population. Without
leaders who have jurisdiction and administrative power, chaos and disorder can break loose. However,
what if this power is given to leaders who will not stop the chaos, but only create it? What if the
possession of absolute power creates leaders who do not fear whether their people suffer, but instead
only fear the loss of their position as absolute? This idea, that power can corrupt, is prominent in the
Fairy Story, Animal Farm written by George Orwell. Though this idea is not expressed directly to
readers, Orwell s use of symbolism plays a major role in allowing readers to successfully understand
that power can corrupt. The building of Animal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Initially, the purpose of building a windmill is to make the animals lives easier. Snowball argues of the
benefits a windmill would bring the animals, declaring that so much labor would be saved that the
animals would only need to work three days a week (Orwell, 33). Through this declaration, Snowball
argues that through the introduction of industrialization on the farm, the amount of strenuous labor the
animals experienced would decrease, allowing them to live easier lifestyles. However, as the story
progresses, and the animals workload only increases in order to build the windmill, readers are able to
understand that the benefits of the windmill and a lifestyle of ease will not be attained by all the
animals, but only by the pigs. All that year the animals worked like slaves. But they were happy in
their work, they grudged no effort or sacrifice, well aware that everything that they did was for the
benefit of themselves, and those of their kind who would come after them, and not for a pack of idle
thieving human beings (Orwell, 40). Through this quote, the animals express their feelings towards the
windmill, viewing it as a symbol of freedom from their human oppressors and their blind acceptance
of their current state of suffering. Believing that the windmills produce will someday benefit
themselves, the animals

Bringing Electricity to the Masses Essay
It was not very long ago that as night descended the cities, towns, and homes of the world fell into
darkness as well. Lit by candles, oil lamps, gas lamps, and open flame, the light put off by these
flames was not very bright and also had the down fall of producing fumes, smoke, and ash. The
electric light was little more than a novelty for the wealthy and only had small scale applications
where only a few bulbs would be needed. (Flatow 11) If we think about how dependent on electricity
we are today, it becomes difficult to imagine the world as we know it without it. Our cars, computers,
cell phones, almost every facet of our modern life involves electricity. It wasn t till a young scientist;

He was able to study the trial and errors of his colleagues and succeed where they had failed. Another
advantage for Edison was that he decided to build his light bulb around an entire electrical system of
his own design. He would design and produce generators to supply electricity with integrated fuses to
regulate and control it. (Flatow 11) Once the system which would power his bulb was designed he
began work on designing the bulb itself. The young inventor began to experiment with different
filament materials and shapes. He soon discovered that no matter what he tried the filament would
melt shortly after a current was run through it. To resolve this Edison had developed a thermal
regulator to prevent the incandescing element of his lamp from melting says biographer and Edison
scholar Paul Israel (Jones 55 56) What this meant was as the filament heated up, the regulator would
turn the light off briefly to allow it to cool. This gave Edison the confidence to announce that he had
made a breakthrough, though he had not perfected the type of material used to make the filament. He
invited the press to witness his triumph. Disregarding that his bulbs did not last very long even after
his thermal regulator was in place; Edison was still able to convince investors to back him. Edison had
been working to design and build his electrical system at his laboratory in Menlo Park, New Jersey.

What is accountability and the definition: (DOD) The obligation imposed by law or lawful order or

The person having this obligation may or may not have actual possession of the property, documents,

A soldier must understand that no one will care about his or hers property as much as their leaders do.
When we do a chain of command change over, we must pull 100% of all equipment that belongs to
our platoon and show that we have everything that was hand receipted to us. The leaders that hold our
sub hand receipts will be a mixed bag: some will be great at accounting for their property; some will
not. So as a soldier I should personally ensure that things are done right .Certainly, the change of
command inventory is a critical part of property accountability. However, a commander is less likely
to have problems with property during the change of command inventory when everyone s attention is
on it and the inventory is the commander s only responsibility. Assertions of responsibility can mean a
number of different things. We might be making a judgment of someone s character, implying that a
soldier can be trusted to act responsibly. We might refer to a person s responsibilities, as expressed by
my responsibilities in my job are or Tom has a lot of responsibilities . We might mean that someone
was responsible for bringing something about. But these responses don t take us far towards a

our understanding of responsible action we need to know who is responsible, and for what. The

I Want A Wife
Gender opportunities in the household have never been equal, this can be seen in advertisements, on
television, or even in the home. In society, mothers are expected to remain at home, to tidy the house
and take care of the children, while fathers get to go off to work, and unwind once they go home. In
the essay I Want a Wife by Judy Brady, the author showcases all the duties that are expected from
wives. Brady utilizes a sarcastic tone, claiming she wants a wife , then proceeds to write a wide range
of things she would anticipate from her ideal wife . She pinpoints all the physical, sexual, and social
needs expected of women, and how they receive a fraction of what they give in return. Women

stuck on something, and am in need of some help, the first person I think to ask is my mother. My
father can be somewhat helpful at times, but he is almost never around, and claims he does not have to
do much anyways because he goes to work. It s critical for both parents to take equal responsibility,
because parenting is not an easy job and it s unjust to put all the work on the mother. Parenting, like
marriage, is an equal partnership and women shouldn t be expected to care more for the children than
their fathers, who get to have it

Who Is Chris Mccandless In Into The Wild
Spiritually connecting with oneself is a difficult and honorable journey. The complexities of achieving
our purpose in life can be a daunting but awarding task. Christopher McCandless succeeded at this.
Christopher McCandless in Into The Wild by Jon Krakauer proved that he was searching for his
purpose in life, which manifested into his hypocritical and ignorant attitude. First of all, Christopher
McCandless exploited his ignorance when blaming his parents during his journey, even though Chris
resembled their tactics. Chris s justification for his venture into the wild was because of his parents
nature, Both Father and Son were stubborn and high strung... Given Walt s need to exert control (64).
This didactic diction is meant to support

This natural ability should have been a blessing, but McCandless grew up shaming these materialistic
values. To certain extent, Chris is correct, but his disrespect for authority was unexcusable. For
example, when working at Mcdonalds an employee said, ...the first thing he d do is peel those socks
off...kind of like a statement (400). Not only is
McCandless joining the capitalist society (that he loathed) but he is also disrespectful to the managers
of an establishment. McCandless disregard for authority exposes his ignorance and inability to operate
with others. Another instance in which McCandless was hypocritical is when he claims a revelation in
his journal, HAPPINESS ONLY REAL WHEN SHARED (189).
Throughout the whole book McCandless keeps people at a distance (Westerberg, Franz, Burres), but
only comes to appreciate others when he s at a state of imminent death. Only at a critical time of his
journey could he discover his reason for venturing off into the wild. This reverent realization evokes
sympathy from the audience about McCandless death, but should rather expose his hypocritical
nature.
Only few people in their lives will reach a level of self actualization.

Low Velocity Impact and Impact after Compression in Cork Based Composite material
ABSTRACT:
Experiments are carried out in the investigation to find out the role of cork as an ideal core material,
which is used as a shield plate in the front of land military vehicles to verify the energy absorption and
damage tolerance. Composite materials are used in various industries these days due to its high
strength to weight ratio putting them into light weight applications. Vacuum Assisted Resin Infusion
Method is chosen to manufacture the laminate. Specimens are cut according to American Society for
Testing and Materials Standards are used. Low velocity impact is carried out on the specimens to
observe the energy absorption capabilities of the specimens with two different testing variables i.e.,
energy level and amount of the viscoelastic material. Afterwards, Compression after Impact test is

The Power Elite Summary
C. Wright Mills was a very bright American sociologist, he is best known for introducing us to many
controversial theories. In his book The Power Elite, he talks about the corruption that exists within our
democracy. Mills talks about a concept called the revolving door, which states that there is only a
certain amount of people who hold all the power in their hands, and these same people will move from
one seat of institutional power to another, in a revolving door matter. In today s society, I think that
this behavior is a lot more common and obvious. We often see this happen with CEO s moving into a
government position, and the problems that come with this is that they will more than likely vote in
favor of laws which will benefit their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
American politics, as discussed and voted and campaigned for, have largely to do with these middle
levels, and often only with them. Most political news is news and gossip about middle level issues and
conflicts (The Power Elite, C Wright Mills.) When we fail to lift the veil and look at what is
happening behind the scenes, we don t have a choice but to believe the things that the media is trying
to feed us. Most of the news that you see on TV or hear on the radio is only the tip of the iceberg. I
don t mean to sound like I m in a tin foil hat, but I firmly believe that the news that we are shown aren
t the true problems, I think that it is important to dig deeper and find the real problems, but not only
that, it is important to know the cause of these problems. It is 2018 and almost impossible to get away
from sites trying to feed us fake news, whether you re on Facebook or surfing the web, you will
almost always encounter some sort of news article talking about things that shouldn t even make the
news, such as celebrity drama. Why aren t people being enlightened about the real problems
happening before our eyes, such as our government constantly passing laws which will really benefit
only the corporations? Or Americas CEO s pay to average worker ratio, which is ridiculous? Well,

Selfishness In Ayn Rand s Anthem
When babies cry, they cry for various reasons, when they are hungry or tired or need their diaper to be
changed, but there is another reason on top of all this too. Babies can fake cry to gain the attention of
their parents. It does not matter if that same parent is exhausted or busy; that baby will wail in order to
be noticed. Even when we do not know the meaning of the word selfish, we exhibit signs of it so early
into life. Our being selfish is innate, apart of our nature , just like every other animal that fights and
hunts to sustain itself. We are born selfish and wanting, we live selfish and wanting, and we die selfish
and wanting too, and that does not imply anything negative; it means for better or for worse that we

Conflict Resolution And Child Custody
Conflict Resolution Child Custody
As a future marital and family therapist and even as a trainee, it is important to understand the
systemic thinking behind the practice. For those therapists, like myself, that want to become experts in
more an area, it is also important to delve into the theory and practice of that area. For example, child
custody is a big piece to conflict resolution when it comes to thinking systemically in the family. The
current divorce rate is around 50 percent and ever rising, which can be troubling yet promising when it
comes to the mediation field.
For the judicial system, this causes case overload, tired workers, and a lot of fees for the citizens going
to the family courts. One of the biggest things that could potentially stop a family from being happy
with their results is if the courts assign them custody agreements without thinking about each
individual factor. Each family is different and there is no cookie cutter answer when it comes to child
custody. If the family is assigned a family mediator, not only will it save long term costs, it can help
ensure each party feels heard and they are voluntarily agreeing to the terms.
Reasoning for Choosing Topic
When assigned this paper, I had no idea what to write about, since the conflict resolution is so broad.
But I sat down and thought about why I decided to take this class and why I wanted to get my
mediation certificate. As I said in class, I have seen really poor mediation, I have seen

Lincoln Electric Essay
The two most important issues that Lincoln Electric is faced with are as follows. First, the inability to
meet customer demand because of the shortages in supply creates opportunities for competing firms to
enter the industry. What resources and capabilities does Lincoln Electric have that can mitigate this
threat of entry. Second, the emphasis put on the monetary incentive plan leaves the company
vulnerable in economic hardships. How can Lincoln Electric continue to encourage competition and
quality without a high emphasis on monetary incentives? Examining the arc welding product industry
structure will help identify the opportunities associated with that structure. Arc welding is part of the

For example, their valuable and rare inventory control team maximizes efficiency and lowers cost by
loading palettes completely full of product while the competition loads palettes only half full of
product wasting valuable room. The threat of suppliers, threat of buyers, and threat of entry are the
significant threats in the arc welding product industry. Suppliers in the arc welding product industry
include all of the employees that make up a company. The suppliers can threaten performance, quality,
and production cost. The temporary competitive advantage that Lincoln Electric uses to mitigate this
threat is a valuable, (fairly) rare, (fairly) costly to imitate, organizationally competent employee
compensation program. The program includes large bonuses, pays per piecework, and guarantees 75%
employment forever. This program also exploits the opportunities associated with the cost advantages
in the mature and international industry through economies of scale. For example, the learning curve
illustration in figure 6.2 and equation 6.5 in chapter 6 of Barney shows that as the cumulative amount
of time spent on a project increases (turnover is low), per unit cost decreases. Due to the rapid change
in industry demand, the threat of buyers quickly becomes an issue. Without adequate supply, buyers
are forced to move to new suppliers. This can lead to a loss in future business. Lincoln

New England Settlers vs. the Chesapeake Settlers Dbq
Since the early 17th century, the English migrated to America for a variety of reasons. The promise of
treasure, religious tolerance, and plentiful lands, lured gold seekers, Puritans, Protestants, unemployed
farmers, indentured servants, and younger sons (who had fallen victim to laws of primogeniture), to
the land mistakenly named the Indies. English migration to the Chesapeake region spread over nearly
a century, whereas voyagers to New England arrived within a single decade. One would think that
since the English settled both of these regions, both of their societies would develop quite similarly,
but one could not be more wrong. The variations of the societies that developed in the Chesapeake

The Proclamation Of 1763 After The French And Indian War
Events The Proclamation of 1763 is Britain s way of keeping colonists off the Indians lands. It was
declared after the French and Indian war, on October 7 1763 by King George the third. It s still a
fundamental Native American law even today across America and Canada. French and Indian war
Also known as the Seven Years War started 1757 and ended 1763. The war was French and Native
Americans combined forces against the British, the war lasted seven years. Later in the war the British
turned the tables on the French at Fort Frontenac. The war ended when the treaty of Paris was signed,
as was the revolutionary war. The sugar act also known as the revenue act was proclaimed in 1764 by
parliament. After the first act was to expire this act was a tax on molasses also. It taxed people six
pence per gallon of the imported substance. The goal of the act was to raise revenue to help pay for
military costs. The Stamp Act was proclaimed in 1765, and it taxed every piece of printed paper. It
taxed such goods as dice, playing cards, legal documents, newspaper and almanacs. The goal of the
act was to raise money for the Seven Years War. The Townshend act was proclaimed in 1767. The
colonists viewed it as an abuse of power after the last acts. The act was eventually repealed but left the
tax on tea. Some of the imported items that it taxed were: glass, lead, paints, paper and tea. The
Quartering Act was proclaimed in 1765. The act allowed the British soldiers to live in colonist s
houses. It also allowed soldiers to eat and drink colonists food. The goal of the act was to keep the
uprising of rebels at a low by catching them when the troops moved in, or by overhearing
conversations. The Boston Massacre, known as the Incident on King Street by the British happened on
March 5 1770. A squad of British soldiers were being attacked by a mob. One of the soldiers fired,
which caused others to fire. Over all five died all colonists. The event greatly boosted the revolution.
The Boston Tea Party happened on December 16, 1773. The sons of liberty boarded 3 ships and
dumped tea into the Boston harbor. They did this because of the British oppression. The British said
they would have to pay all the tea off or the harbor will be closed.

Revulsion In Tod Browning s Freaks
With figurative eye of newt and toe of frog, Tod Browning s Freaks stirs a grotesque, boiling caldron
of Terror, Horror, and Revulsion within the viewer. Perpetually flinging itself between these three
genres of fear, in an artful dance of death, Browning splices, mutates, and combines images to create a
Frankenstein s Monster of conjoined dread and trepidation.
Freaks is not a documentary and does not try to resolve or rectify the dilemma between Good and
Evil, Humans and Monsters; or Us vs. Them; and certainly it is not a film promoting Freaks, they re

Source of Value Creation
While in table 2 is illustrated, where the additional value from an increased leverage is going, we now
have a closer look at where the change in value is coming from. For this purpose, we divide the free
cash flow of the firm into pure business flows and cash flows resulting from financing effects and
discount them at a consistent rate reflecting the cash flows risk.
As shown in table 3, the total value of cash flow is increasing if debt is augmented. It is also obvious
that this increase in value is generated by the cash flows resulting from financing effects. But how
does this gain come about? In fact, table 3 illustrates one of the most important theories in corporate
finance, which says that the value of a levered firm is equal to the value of an unlevered firm plus the
present value of the tax shield provided by debt (Copeland, Weston and Shastri, 2005, p. 562).
Since the tax authority treats interest going to the bondholders differently from the way it treats
earnings going to stockholders, there emerges a difference in the tax payment the firm has to fulfil.
Actually, the firm s tax payment is positively related to its debt, as the interest is not taken into
account by corporate taxation while earnings after interest but before taxes are taxed at the existing tax
rate (which in this case is 35%). The increased value of the total cash flow in table 3 arises therefore
from the so called tax shield associated

The Causes Of Short Stories
Unease. Thrilling. Surprise. These are simply three feelings tossed at the reader in a one page story.
Short short stories often have the effect of making the reader feel uneasy. When stories are short, a
writer tends to jump directly into the story with something interesting or alarming to grab the reader s
attention. Quite often, the more uneasy the writing, the more it leaves an effect on the reader. Sudden
Fiction is a book filled with a collection of short stories from different authors; the maximum length of
a story is three pages long. This not only causes the reader to feel ???? with the content, but also
uncomfortable with the title of the literary work. Without a doubt, the short story that made me feel
the most uneasy was Reading the Paper . On the other hand, the story that I felt more comfortable
reading was The Reunion .
First of all, Reading the Newspaper is about a women s average day, or at least it seems to be average
from the way the writer portrays it. When she is talking to several people about the death of her family
members, who had died the previous night, she is washing the blood stains out while doing her the
laundry. This becomes shocking to a reader to read that someone is functioning as if something
horrific did not happen. Typically, someone who has lost their family members, like this character,
would not be in the right state of mind to do her laundry. One could assume that she is clearly
traumatized. In addition to that, another

The Dangers Of Snow Leopards
There are less than 5,000 snow leopards left in the wild. To put that in perspective, that averages to
about one for every 4 people that live on Ft. Leavenworth. Snow leopards pose no threat to humans,
but humans are the greatest threat to snow leopards. (1)A snow leopard is an amazing creature. (2)
Snow leopards are solitary animals that live and hunt in the rocky areas of the Himalayas and
surrounding mountains (National Geographic). (3) They have beautiful white coats that are inches
thick to keep them warm and help them hide and blend into their surroundings. (3)Each leopard coat
has different spots, like human fingerprints. (3)They are one of the few large cats that understands to
ration its food for days. (2) Snow leopards have tails as long as their bodies that make a good scarf
during the cold mountain nights (Defenders). (3) They curl up in their tails to keep warm. (3) They are
about 3 4 feet in length and around 2 feet tall. (3) They can very far over 40 feet! (4) Snow leopards
(panthera uncia) are special creatures that live at the top of their food chain (Patent).
(1) Snow leopards are an extremely miniscule threat to humans. (2) They are shy creatures, and
according to the Snow Leopard Trust, There has never been a verified attack on a human not even in
zoos because they are afraid of humans. (3) Snow leopards are not typically aggressive and would
rather hide or run than confront a human. (3) They prefer to hunt and move at morning and evening so
they are not seen often. (3) People describe them as ghosts because they are rarely seen due to their
camouflage and because they are sleeping quite often. (2) Snow leopards do attack corralled sheep
[herds] in times of need (Defenders). (3) They do this when the farmer or herder brings his flock into
the leopard s territory. (3) The herd eats everything and leaves nothing for the usual prey of the snow
leopard. (3) The prey leaves and the herd is the only thing the leopard has to eat, so it strikes. (2)
Snow leopards are actually remarkably important as they indicate the health of [their] high altitude
habitats (WWF). (3) When they are in high population, it shows that all the species below them in the

Loisel s pride causes her to make her first mistake shortly before the ball. Committed to the belief that
there s nothing more humiliating than to look poor around other women who are rich, she decides that
to merely have a dress is not good enough. She tells her husband that she wants jewelry. So she asks
her old school friend (whom she otherwise avoids) if she can borrow a necklace, which as far as she
knows may be worth thirty six thousand francs. She uses this necklace at the ball, dancing with other
men than her husband, while he sleeps in the back room. Between the hours in a crowded ballroom
and the long walk to find a cab in the night, it was not at all improbable that the seemingly valuable
necklace would have been stolen. Whether the necklace is stolen or just misplaced, it is indeed lost.
Had she stopped to think, Mme. Loisel may have realized that there was some risk in borrowing a
necklace that she thought was so expensive. Also, the impression she makes at the ball would not
likely have much bearing on her life later on. Her refusal to wear natural roses shows us that one of

are still hotly debated among the public. Ultimately, however, with the evidence present, Bush was the
rightful winner of the election. That is not to say, however, that Gore s team was incorrect in pursuing
the recount, and believing that they had a chance. Two incidents happened on voting day that triggered

Mental Crowd Simulators
Phase 5: Time now to practice your speech... You are now heading to the end of your preparation
process. This is where you will test your memory and also learn how to be relaxed the whole time.
Three (3) techniques are ideal for practicing your speech and memorizing it very effectively. The first
one is called the mental crowd simulator. To explain what it is in a few lines, we can say that it can be
compared to daydreaming. You know, just like when you daydream while your favorite song is
playing and at the same time, you are imagining yourself singing that song in front of a huge crowd?
Well, this technique works the same way, where you have already memorized your speech, and you
imagine yourself giving that speech to a large audience.
You can daydream anywhere and at any time (with closed or opened eyes), so that s a plus to the
technique. This is how you should basically proceed here; you will have to maintain your eyes, in one

realized he must be dreaming. In a little while he would wake up in his own bed, but if he was
dreaming then why did he hurt so much. Some of the little fairies had grouped around his head.
He tried to wave them away and one of them bit him. A searing pain went all the way through his left
arm from his finger tips to his shoulder. He decided it was definitely not a dream. The fairies helped
him up and told him to go and defeat the beast. He asked them what beast but they would not tell him.
He left fearing if he stayed too long they would bite him again. His left arm was already half
paralyzed and swelling up. He got out of the meadow and was standing up agenst a tree looking at the
bite. Then an arrow went into the tree right above

How Patriotism Has Shaped American Culture
Patriotism is, per definition, devoted love, support, and defense of one s country. Since the founding of
our nation, it has been a prominent part of the American Culture. Patriotism is rooted in values which
include honor, loyalty, and bravery among others. There are many ways that an American can show
their pride. One of the biggest way to prove one s love for the nation is to joining the military to
defend our liberties. In America, there is even a holiday to celebrate Patriotism. The Fourth of July
celebrates America s independence and it often includes the displaying of the American flag and
respective merchandise, parades, political speeches, and fireworks. Some people display different
levels of patriotism and that can be conflicting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In a society where everyone is watching and ready to point fingers, these groups of people may
receive more scrutiny. One example of people who may not display much patriotism is the immigrant
minority group. Devout Americans may think that immigrants and other minorities have not adapted
to the culture and therefore cannot understand American pride. They are often frowned upon when
they lack common knowledge of American history. People use this against them to support their idea
that this group of people may be unpatriotic. However, these immigrants and minority groups have
come to America chasing the American Dream. They have left everything behind and come to an
unknown place with nothing but dreams to become a part of the Land of the Free. Immigrants seek
asylum and citizenship in this great nation, in hopes to make it their own and enjoy the rights that we
celebrate. Moreover, there are true Americans who publicly defy a sense of patriotism. For instance,
when many NFL players decided to take a knee during the national anthem, many were outraged by
their lack of respect for the United States. While many were angry, others showed solidarity and did
the same when they found out the cause they were speaking out about. Furthermore, when famous
singers forget the words to the Star Spangled Banner, they are always sympathized by the audience
and still receive the applause. The

Imperialism In Africa
Imperialism was a time of new inventions, technology, and many other things. Imperialism had many
positive things like, transportation, spread of technology, and an increase in education. Because of
Imperialism transportation became a thing. Also communication with other foreign countries became a
thing. Then there was an increase in education too. Without imperialism transportation would not be a
thing. One example is railroads, railroads are used for transporting people to and from their
destinations. Another example are steamboats, without steamboats people would never be able to
transport their goods to and from. People will say but slaves made these railroads. Well without
transportation everyone would have to walk to every single place we wanted to go. Because of
imperialism spread of languages around the world started to happen. An example of this is that now
tribes can communicate with other foreign countries, this is good because now we can understand
tribes and what they are trying to say to us. Also other foreign countries can communicate with each
other, like africans can now learn and speak english because a lot of Africa s land in taken over by
great britain. A very good thing about the spread of languages is that we can learn new languages
ourselves and speak to the countries we have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of this happening kids will grow up with an a lot better education than most kids. Also the
kids will grow up and be able to get a job, they will be able to get a job because they have a better
education than most kids. Since you will probably get a job with your education, it will not just be a
lazy job it will be a fairly good job. This is because you have met all of your requirements to get the
job education wise and you can do the job right. People might say well not everyone will get a good
education. Yes that is true but the people who are able to go to school will have a very good

Moses VS Abraham Essay
In the Old Testament, Abraham and Moses were two very prominent leaders chosen by God to do his
will. Throughout Genesis and Exodus, both men play important roles in fulfilling God s will. They are
put to many tests, given covenants, and communicate constantly with God. Although they have many
similarities such as being leaders and men of God, there are also many differences between the two.
In terms of leadership, Abraham was a noble leader. Although he grew up in a camp where the notion
of one God was not accepted, he eventually manages to become the leader of a tribe and make the
people believe in his faith. He leads them around endlessly from Ur to Canaan, to Egypt, then back to
Canaan. His tribe followed him around without much ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When they got on the top of the mountain, God saw that Abraham truly had faith in him, thus he sent a
ram instead so that Abraham did not have to sacrifice his son. Abraham never had a doubt in God s
will and was offering even to sacrifice his own flesh and blood to prove his undoubting faith. Moses
on the other hand, questioned God. When he first encounters God in the form of a fiery bush, Moses
questions God s will by asking, Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of
Egypt? (Exodus 3:11). Although he meets God in a physical form, he still questioned him with doubts
of his own abilities. Unlike Abraham who had unquestioning faith, Moses started out his relationship
with God with a lack of faith. Eventually, Moses does develop the same undoubting faith that
Abraham processed. Only initially did he have doubts about his relationship with God.
Finally, they both received similar covenants, however they communicated with God in a different
way. God told Abraham, Leave your country, your people and your father s household and go to the
land I will show you. I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name
great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will
curse; and all people on earth will be blessed through you (Genesis 12:1 3). These covenants set

  • 2. Symptoms, Causes, And Treatments Of Schizophrenia Symptoms, Causes, and Treatments of Schizophrenia Cassidy Echalico Florida State College at Jacksonville Symptoms, Causes, and Treatments of Schizophrenia Schizophrenia is a stigmatized disease that labels victims as crazy. One percent of people develop schizophrenia in their lifetime; more than two million Americans suffer from schizophrenia in a given year (Spearing, 1999). Although schizophrenia affects men and women equally, it often appears earlier in men than in women; Men are generally affected in the late teens to early twenties and women are generally affected in the twenties to early thirties (Spearing, 1999). Schizophrenia is highly uncommon in children, affecting only about 1 in 40,000 in comparison to 1 in 100 in adults. Many of the victims do not realize they have schizophrenia until they have a first episode psychosis (Aas, Andreassen, Aminoff, Faerden, Romm, Nesvayeng, Berg, Simonsen, Agartz, and Melle. 2016). While many people only know the stereotyped effects of schizophrenia, a better understanding of the symptoms, causes, and possible treatments can clear many stigmas up. • 3. Integrative Approaches Of Psychology And Christianity In his book, Integrative Approaches to Psychology and Christianity, David Entwistle (2010) provides a persuasive discourse for the assimilation of psychology and theology; secular and religious disciplines that present a multifaceted dialogue shaped by historical interactions and tensions. (p. 51) Of the two systems, psychology is by much of the Church thought to advocate reason over revelation whereas theology is, by more secular leaning scholars, thought to be wanting of intellect. With Tertullian s libretti, what indeed has Athens to do with Jerusalem? (p. 8) in addition to modernism s philosophy of self consciousness and the skepticism of postmodernism continuing to fan the flames of segregation, the flawed logic that an integration of psychology and theology is not possible ensues. Throughout his book, David Entwistle (2010) recurrently echoes the theme that all truth is God s truth. (p. 16) Entwistle further claims that a person can discern truth from both of God s books (i.e., His Word and His Works). Entwistle affirms that because God has systematically ordered both His Word and His Works in such a way that makes integration possible, both psychology and theology are correct in their interpretations. Nevertheless, religion and psychology are systems of finite understanding and presuppositions. Therefore, while the certainty that all truth comes from God does not excuse error from either discipline it does allow for integration since both seek to bare ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is hard for some to wrap their head around the idea of little green men from outer space being more advanced in space travel than humans. The earliest UFO sightings in recorded history can be found in 4th century Chinese texts claiming that a moon boat hovered above China every 12 years, and ever since people have been claiming to see or be abducted by UFOs ( M.J. Aliens exist because of the amount of planets that can support life, UFOS have been seen all across the world, and there is a FBI agency dedicated to covering up the existence of extraterrestrial life. The fact that NASA has spent years searching for planets that could support life makes people wonder whether there could be life already out there. In 2009 NASA launched the Kepler space telescope hoping to find as many habitable planets as possible. Kepler has found over 1000 exoplanets and confirmed that twelve are within habitable zones. The similarity and difference of these three movements marked the beginning of early modern Europe and their interaction with each other made a huge influence on political and social reform in European countries. The one thing common in the absolute monarchy, the Baroque style and the Scientific Revolution was that they all stood for the end of the Middle Ages. The absolute monarchy started a new regime with the centralized power and the King of supreme. The Baroque period generated a new form of art to worship the Church and the absolute authority. The Scientific Revolution led to a new era with a different world view and the development of rationality. However, these three movements built on one another and impacted the society in different directions, which will be discussed in the following. The absolute monarchy was a political system reform in order to deal with social turmoil. It was developing across Europe during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. Around the middle of the seventeenth century, France experienced a religious strife that the various Parlements and the nobility started the revolution against the monarch. Composite materials are used in various industries these days due to its high strength to weight ratio putting them into light weight applications. Vacuum Assisted Resin Infusion Method is chosen to manufacture the laminate. Specimens are cut according to American Society for Testing and Materials Standards are used. Low velocity impact is carried out on the specimens to observe the energy absorption capabilities of the specimens with two different testing variables i.e., energy level and amount of the viscoelastic material. Afterwards, Compression after Impact test is carried out to study the Damage tolerance of the impacted specimen. The study of all the results from the above tests shows us the energy absorption and damage tolerance with the presence of cork as a core material. • 23. Conflict Resolution And Child Custody Conflict Resolution Child Custody As a future marital and family therapist and even as a trainee, it is important to understand the systemic thinking behind the practice. For those therapists, like myself, that want to become experts in more an area, it is also important to delve into the theory and practice of that area. For example, child custody is a big piece to conflict resolution when it comes to thinking systemically in the family. The current divorce rate is around 50 percent and ever rising, which can be troubling yet promising when it comes to the mediation field. For the judicial system, this causes case overload, tired workers, and a lot of fees for the citizens going to the family courts. One of the biggest things that could potentially stop a family from being happy with their results is if the courts assign them custody agreements without thinking about each individual factor. Each family is different and there is no cookie cutter answer when it comes to child custody. If the family is assigned a family mediator, not only will it save long term costs, it can help ensure each party feels heard and they are voluntarily agreeing to the terms. Reasoning for Choosing Topic When assigned this paper, I had no idea what to write about, since the conflict resolution is so broad. But I sat down and thought about why I decided to take this class and why I wanted to get my mediation certificate. As I said in class, I have seen really poor mediation, I have seen ... First, the inability to meet customer demand because of the shortages in supply creates opportunities for competing firms to enter the industry. Second, the emphasis put on the monetary incentive plan leaves the company vulnerable in economic hardships. The threat of suppliers, threat of buyers, and threat of entry are the significant threats in the arc welding product industry. Suppliers in the arc welding product industry include all of the employees that make up a company. The suppliers can threaten performance, quality, and production cost. The temporary competitive advantage that Lincoln Electric uses to mitigate this threat is a valuable, (fairly) rare, (fairly) costly to imitate, organizationally competent employee compensation program. The program includes large bonuses, pays per piecework, and guarantees 75% employment forever. This program also exploits the opportunities associated with the cost advantages in the mature and international industry through economies of scale. For example, the learning curve illustration in figure 6.2 and equation 6.5 in chapter 6 of Barney shows that as the cumulative amount of time spent on a project increases (turnover is low), per unit cost decreases. Due to the rapid change in industry demand, the threat of buyers quickly becomes an issue. Without adequate supply, buyers are forced to move to new suppliers. This can lead to a loss in future business. Lincoln ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

English migration to the Chesapeake region spread over nearly a century, whereas voyagers to New England arrived within a single decade. • 26. The Proclamation Of 1763 After The French And Indian War Events The Proclamation of 1763 is Britain s way of keeping colonists off the Indians lands. It was declared after the French and Indian war, on October 7 1763 by King George the third. It s still a fundamental Native American law even today across America and Canada. French and Indian war Also known as the Seven Years War started 1757 and ended 1763. The war was French and Native Americans combined forces against the British, the war lasted seven years. Later in the war the British turned the tables on the French at Fort Frontenac. The war ended when the treaty of Paris was signed, as was the revolutionary war. The sugar act also known as the revenue act was proclaimed in 1764 by parliament. After the first act was to expire this act was a tax on molasses also. It taxed people six pence per gallon of the imported substance. The goal of the act was to raise revenue to help pay for military costs. The Stamp Act was proclaimed in 1765, and it taxed every piece of printed paper. It taxed such goods as dice, playing cards, legal documents, newspaper and almanacs. The goal of the act was to raise money for the Seven Years War. The Townshend act was proclaimed in 1767. The colonists viewed it as an abuse of power after the last acts. The act was eventually repealed but left the tax on tea. Some of the imported items that it taxed were: glass, lead, paints, paper and tea. The Quartering Act was proclaimed in 1765. The act allowed the British soldiers to live in colonist s houses. It also allowed soldiers to eat and drink colonists food. The goal of the act was to keep the uprising of rebels at a low by catching them when the troops moved in, or by overhearing conversations. The Boston Massacre, known as the Incident on King Street by the British happened on March 5 1770. A squad of British soldiers were being attacked by a mob. One of the soldiers fired, which caused others to fire. Over all five died all colonists. The event greatly boosted the revolution. The Boston Tea Party happened on December 16, 1773. Source of Value Creation While in table 2 is illustrated, where the additional value from an increased leverage is going, we now have a closer look at where the change in value is coming from. For this purpose, we divide the free cash flow of the firm into pure business flows and cash flows resulting from financing effects and discount them at a consistent rate reflecting the cash flows risk. As shown in table 3, the total value of cash flow is increasing if debt is augmented. It is also obvious that this increase in value is generated by the cash flows resulting from financing effects. But how does this gain come about? In fact, table 3 illustrates one of the most important theories in corporate finance, which says that the value of a levered firm is equal to the value of an unlevered firm plus the present value of the tax shield provided by debt (Copeland, Weston and Shastri, 2005, p. 562). Since the tax authority treats interest going to the bondholders differently from the way it treats earnings going to stockholders, there emerges a difference in the tax payment the firm has to fulfil. Actually, the firm s tax payment is positively related to its debt, as the interest is not taken into account by corporate taxation while earnings after interest but before taxes are taxed at the existing tax

Short short stories often have the effect of making the reader feel uneasy. When stories are short, a writer tends to jump directly into the story with something interesting or alarming to grab the reader s attention. Quite often, the more uneasy the writing, the more it leaves an effect on the reader. Sudden Fiction is a book filled with a collection of short stories from different authors; the maximum length of a story is three pages long. This not only causes the reader to feel ???? with the content, but also uncomfortable with the title of the literary work. Without a doubt, the short story that made me feel the most uneasy was Reading the Paper . On the other hand, the story that I felt more comfortable reading was The Reunion . This becomes shocking to a reader to read that someone is functioning as if something horrific did not happen.
