Puerto Rico Devastation
The island of Puerto Rico was met with destruction at the hands of Hurricane Maria. The storm was
the strongest within United States territory in close to a century. Maria thrashed major parts of the
Dominican Republic before making landfall on September 21st in Puerto Rico at 11:15 BST in the
town of Yabucoa. It clocked in with 155mph winds and knocked out power to the entire nation. All 3.4
million residents were left in the dark. Puerto Rico Governor, Ricardo Rossello, predicts a long
recovery period. Many experts echo his statement. According to Puerto Rico Resident Commissioner
Jennifer Gonzalez, The devastation in Puerto Rico has set us back nearly 20 to 30 years. I can t deny
that the Puerto Rico of now is different from that

Differences Between Christian Science And Science
Similarities and Differences
There are quite a few differences between Christian Science and Scientology. For instance, Christian
Science started in 1879. It was founded by a poor woman named Mary Baker Eddy who became rich
from her new founded religion. Scientology was founded in 1953. Unlike Christian Science,
Scientology is an independent religion. It was founded by a man named L. Ron Hubbard. Christian
Science is based off Christianity. It is a new interpretation of the Bible. Scientology is a religious
responds to therapeutic help. Christian Science centers on the idea of God. Scientology focuses on a
person in need of help. Christian Science sees God as the only creator. Scientology believes that the
creator is a person completely free. God has no importance in Scientology.
They have a few similaries that also differ. For example, both have churches. A Christian Science
church holds an hour long Sunday service. Just like traditional Christian services. They also have a
Wednesday testimony meeting. A church of Scientology is open and staffed every day of the week,
from morning until late at night. This way they can have auditing and training courses available. In the
auditing system, the auditor is one who is trained in Scientology methods. They listen to the learner
for the purpose of restoring his or her abilities and achieving full potential.
Both religions also offer a path to salvation. The differences between Scientology and Christian

A Brief History Of United States Mental Health Care Essay
PRELIMINARY LITERATURE REVIEW A brief history of the United States mental health care The
United States has never had an official federal centered approach for mental health care facilities,
entrusting its responsibility to the states throughout the history. The earliest initiatives in this field took
place in the 18th century, when Virginia built its first asylum and Pennsylvania Hospital reserved its
basement to house individuals with mental disorders (Sundararaman, 2009). During the 19th century,
other services were built, but their overall lack of quality was alarming. Even then, researchers and
professionals in the mental health field attempted to implement the principles of the so called public
health, focusing on prevention and early intervention, but the funds were in the hands of the local
governments, which prevented significant advances in this direction. In 1946, President Truman
signed the National Mental Health Act, allowing federal funds for education and research in mental
health. By the time of the Great Depression and the World War II, asylums were in unsustainable
conditions and traumatized veterans were returning home needing psychiatric attention. Also in a
federal extent, Congress passed the Mental Health Study Act in 1955, establishing a commission to
check policies and propose reforms in psychiatric treatments. Around that time the
deinstitutionalization movement started changing the mental health picture. In 1963, the Mental
Health Community Act

The Nature of Women Portrayed by Circe and Calypso in The Odyssey
In Homer s composition, The Odyssey, the roles women play are very significant. The best examples
of the true nature of women occur when Odysseus encounters Circe and Calypso. These two
characters illustrate the thoughts and feelings of how women how a woman feels and how they think.
As the quote states, Circe and Calypso illustrate how women really can be crafty, intelligent, sneaky,
disloyal, and cruel. In contrast to battles with men, Cyclops, or animals, sexual battles with women are
sometimes much more difficult to win.
These two female characters are especially enticing to Odysseus because they are goddesses. Though
it is evident that Odysseus longs to return ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This time spent on Circe s island was a test of whether he could resist lust from a goddess, and he
fails. At first it appears as though the only reason Odysseus sleeps with Circe is to regain his
companions, but she easily persuades them to stay. What makes it worse is the fact that Odysseus is
not even the first one ready to go. His men are the ones who urge him to leave: What ails you now? It
is time to think about our own country (Book X, line 472). At a glance, it appears that Odysseus is
merely succumbing to Circe s schemes for reasons related to their health and well being, if we read
between the lines, we soon begin to realize that Odysseus is weak in the voracious hands of lust.
Odysseus arrives on Calypso s island in her cave. At first, it seems like Odysseus doesn t seem much
to mind her taking care of him, but over time it is plainly evident that he is unhappy with her. When
Hermes arrives on Calypso s island to give her the message from Zeus to release Odysseus, he is
bawling on the beach a daylong activity for him. Calypso is holding him with her by force; she has no
companions to help him back to Ithaca, nor has she a ship to send him in. Athena pleads with Zeus to
give Odysseus good fortune,

Religion In Euripides Bacchant
Euripides Bacchants, is a play about the god Dionysus wanting to diffuse his religion all throughout
Greece, especially to those who doubted that he was the son of Zeus. His religion consists of both
male and female followers performing dances and chants, while drinking wine, and sacrificing an
animal. During the play there is constant mockery and disapproval of the way Dionysus religion was
looked at by the people of Thebes, compared to ancient Greece s morals and what the people thought
was right and valuable in their beliefs. Ancient Greece had a mix of two different cultures, the
Mycenaean and Minoan. The Minoans would worship a fertility mother goddess, (Morford, 45).
While the Mycenaean believed in a sky god named Zeus. Both of these different cultures and their
beliefs fused together to influence Greek mythology and a majority of what ancient Greeks believed
in. People in Greece gained influence from Asian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the play Bacchants, there was a lack of worshipping to Dionysus since people did not believe that
he was a god. Resembling to ancient Greece s beliefs, those who did not believe in Dionysus were
running a risk. Dionysus states in the beginning of the play, This city must learn, whether it likes it or
not, that it still wants initiation into my Bacchic rites. The cause of my mother Semele I must defend
by proving to mortals that I am a god, borne by her to Zeus, (Euripides, 784). Dionysus continues the
passage by stating that the grandson of Cadmus, Pentheus opposes to worship him, therefore Dionysus
was going to expose himself to Pentheus and prove him wrong. This connects to the belief that if one
does not pray to a god in ancient Greece, then they would be running the risk of having something bad
happen to them. In the end, since Pentheus still did not want to recognize Dionysus as a god, he was
killed by his mother while she was performing the Bacchic

The Underachievement Of Male And Female Education
The underachievement of males in society has been a growing problem that is being widely ignored
by society. Children are experiencing the most important and emotional part of their lives when they
are in school that will leave ever lasting effects. The success of people as students are not real
indicators of how they will do later in life, but it is the confidence and self esteem that people will
remember in their school days that might stay with adults until they realize that it is keeping them
down or until death. Stereotypes, lack of male role models, more feminized school system, and
combining this all together to find the underlying problem of the female majority who are succeeding,
graduating, and are accepted more often than males. These are the main issues to figure out when it
comes to the imbalance of male and female education. Male Underachievement in Education
Introduction In recent years, female achievement in the education system has grown very strong, but
in its place, male achievement in education has plummeted. Due to male stereotypes, lack of male role
models in school and at home along with the adoption of more feminized school places and practices,
males are no longer being challenged to take risks and freely engage in critical thinking skills to be
able to succeed as much as females in the current educational system. Since the recent uprising of the
feminist movement, the fact that females are faring better than their male counterparts,

The Failure Of The Spanish Armada
The Spanish Armada was a fleet sent by Philip II of Spain to fight against Queen Elizabeth I in an
effort to defeat Protestant England. The Spanish Armada is interesting because its defeat came
unexpectedly when a fleet of 130 ships and 30,000 men were defeated by a smaller scale counter
attacking convoy that was sent by the English. The nation s current strategic planning was based on
mistakes from previous battles, such as the Spanish Armada. By learning from these mistakes, it will
help the army, navy, and military in future preparation for battles that they may have to face. While
planning and entering battle against England, the Spanish Armada faced constant misfortune, which
ultimately ended in defeat and failure; however, it influenced succeeding battles and strategies.
The Spanish Armada had major flaws that resulted in its defeat that began from its sudden planning
for an invasion. Philip II wanted revenge on England for the execution of Queen Mary of Scots, a
Catholic monarch. Moreover, She was beheaded because Queen Elizabeth wanted to prevent a
Catholic from reigning over the English throne, ending Philip s hope of a Catholic monarch.
Consequently, Philip made a rash decision to surprise England with an attack that didn t take as much
thought as many successful armadas have taken. After deciding to gain revenge on Queen Elizabeth,
the decision to mount a full scale invasion of England was taken suddenly and irrevocably (Parker).
The improper planning on

Describe the impact of World War I on the Labor Movement in the United States. Describe at least
three aspects of this period that affected union activity. Be sure to give reasons and examples to back
up any claims made. The first seeds of the union movement in the United States can be traced back to
a few decades before the World War I. The economy of the country was slowly turning capitalist and
the affluent society gaining a strong hold in key decisions regarding employment in established
businesses across the States. This had resulted in the emergence of political groups (Organized Labor
World war, 2007)which were predominantly leftist or socialist in their orientation. Some of them
included organizations like the Socialist Party and the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW). These
movements gained popularity amongst the lower classes of society through the messages that they
consciously trickled down the lines about their objective of creating a democratic society which would

However Gompers shared President Wilson s concern as Germany began their submarine invasion
about the possibility of German supremacy. This resulted in the AFL changing their stand diabolically

labor movement in supporting the war and he was proved right as he was appointed to the Council of
National Defense, an organization that helped the country prepare for the war. Gompers formed alabor
subcommittee within the council that created a panel of representatives from business, labor, and the
government research into strategies for better industrial coordination and to draw up guidelines on
wages, hours, and mediation in war related industries. This can be seen as the framework upon which

go back to eating it from a can.
A popular soup that you might like is potato soup. To do this, you need to buy all of the ingredients
first. You will need to buy a package of one pound regular cut bacon, a white onion, a container of
butter, a large carton of heavy whipping cream, and a five pound sack of potatoes. One you get home
with all of your ingredients, you can begin making the soup. To start, you need to peel and dice about
five pounds of potatoes. Then you can put the potatoes in a large pot and let them boil. While that is
happening, you can begin to work with your bacon.
Slice your bacon into half inch small pieces and dice the onion into little pieces. After you have
everything cut, put them in a pan, and fry them together. When the bacon and onion finish cooking,
the bacon should look crispy and the onion should look transparent. After the components are fully
cooked, remove all of the grease from the pan.
Now you can go back to your potatoes, carefully grip the

Analysis of the Character of Shrek and Lord Farquaad from movie Shrek
In this essay I will analyse the characters of Shrek and Lord Farquaad and tell you about how the
filmmakers use different presentational devices to create an unusual fairy tale.
In traditional fairy tales the princess is normally a perfect, kind, beautiful person. In a traditional fairy
tale the princess is trapped in the tallest tower of a castle guarded by a terrifying beast.
A handsome prince always rescues them, for instance in Snow White and the seven dwarfs the prince
who rescues her gives her the kiss of life, which is supposed to make the story romantic. Ogres in
traditional fairy tales live in filthy swamplands; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

When Shrek tries to make Donkey leave him alone by roaring at him donkey just makes a joke about
that if the roar didn t scare people the breathe would.
Donkey tries to become friends with Shrek by coming into his house and bouncing on his bed saying
they can stay up late swapping stories but Shrek doesn t want to be friends with Donkey. Shrek kicks
Donkey outside and Donkey keeps popping his head up in the window which annoys Shrek.
There are three blind mice who tease Shrek by talking about the smell of cheese when they are near
Shreks ears this is funny because the mice are blind but still manage to offend the ogre.
ELLIOT COOPER BRINE HOWE
Donkey and Shrek visit Duloc, to try to reclaim Shreks swamp from Lord Farquaad. Donkey thinks
that Shrek is too kind and should not have to ask for his swamp to be returned to him. Donkey tells
Shrek to kick out the fairy tale creatures with force from
his swamp if he needs to. Shrek offers to solve the dispute over a pint, which shows Shrek is trying to
settle the dispute without using violence.

princess and shakes her to wake her up

Conflict Between Romeo And Juliet Essay
The conflict between the Capulet and The Montague families grows stronger every day as well the
push for supremacy. Romeos intrusion into a Capulet s party transformed Tybalt s condition into an
uncontrolled state which led to a fight between his nemeses Romeo and Mercutio. The dispute
between these 3 young adults is described as humorous but quite solemn by Shakespeare. The
emotions that each character portrays at the beginning sequence are quite joyful and members of both
houses speak with sarcastic tones and many jokes are passed along to one another. As the scene

It is thought that these words were of a godly being. In the Shakespearean play Tybalt has the
unfortunate event of slaying Mercutio. During his final minutes, which were filled with agonizing
pain, he expresses his thoughts and feelings on the Capulet and Montague Houses saying A plague o
both your houses! as well as speaking ill of Romeo in which he states Why the devil came you
between us? I was hurt under your arm . These words alone had a major impact on all bystanders by
averring in a metaphorical and hostile tone that the houses of Capulet and Montague should be rid of
their feud or more men (like Mercutio) will wind up either dead, hurt or betrayed by one of their own.
The passing away of Mercutio also dampens the previous joyful mood of Tybalt, Romeo and the
bystanders in which they now relies that Mercutio s words were not of a normal human being but of a
spiritual presence/being, which tries to portray the idea of equality and how no one person or in this
case family should be higher than any other. If peace could ever be achieved in Verona, the first step

Gender Bias Of Becoming A Leader
Key issues research brief set out to address are the gender bias in becoming a leader. Several key
findings are that man over emerge as leaders in over emerge as leaders in self managing teams while
women emerge as leaders once engaged in more agentic behaviors. One interesting finding revealed
that gender roles did not matter when individuals engaged in social behaviors in fact man and women

groups.
The article addresses the gender role inequality in pursuing leadership positions, trough out our class
time on several occasions we touch upon gender inequality, gender related traits and how to influence
some behaviors to promote gender equality (negotiations topic, communications, etc.)
Most importantly I would like to discuss the current gender inequality situation in the world. We all
know the good old saying if you do not include women in your daily activity 50% of your populations
intellectual wealth is eliminated . Although this is a common understanding amongst all in modern
society yet it lacks the practical application. There are ample research articles that outline the wage
and leadership inequality amongst genders but there are no concrete articles or suggestions how
eliminate gender bias. The research findings reveal general idea of what can be done to solve the
leadership gender inequality by suggesting activities for women to engage that would positively

Generally, costume jewellery refers to ornaments designed sans precious or semi precious metals
though an uncommon trend of using a combination of junk metals with semi precious stones and
metals is also in existence. Such jewellery does turn out much more expensive than the usual costume
jewellery but the price is justified by their exquisite quality and beauty. The mass market, however,
still caters to costume jewellery in the range of Rs 500 to Rs 5000. Typical costume ornaments include

Cutting out the freight costs and selling directly at the point of origin is a goal most players in the field

(d) The price of gold and other precious metals is still very high. Gold prices have been on a steady
upslope from 2001 till now. Silver is a similar, if not as dramatic a story. This obviously tilts the
markets in favour of cheaper and more often than not, more trendy options of fashion accessories and
costume jewellery.
However, as in most business stories, all isn t as rosy and there is more to it than meets the eye. These
opportunities aside, there are certain challenges the industry faces in the quest for growth and
sustainence:
(a) Fashion Accessory business is boosted by a high percentage of impulse buys. Online accessory and
costume jewellery retailers need to face a lot of challenges in this regard as the prospective buyers
have instant access to comparative prices and multiple options. Smaller retailers need to also consider
how they can innovate to maximize their sales by targeting the impulsiveness of the buyers and the
transparency of the internet.
(b) The present is a boon period for Fashion Accessories industry as expected worldwide consumer
spending in this sector is likely to grow by 4 to 5 percent. Such prospects lure several new entrants to

Variation in domestic foreign oil price
The time is not going well for airlines industry. It is suffering in a pity condition due to increase in
aviation turbine fuel (ATF). ATF accounts for 35 per cent of the total airline expenses. The price of
ATF is increased 3 times in last 3 years. Just in last 5 months it has increased by 65%. Interesting
thing is that in the market of Singapore Dubai, it is Rs.45 per liter but in India it has the 21% higher
price. First let s know why its price is higher.
In India the aviation companies have to spend more to purchase ATF. Airlines in India pay the most
for fuel when compared with other Asia Pacific hubs like Singapore, Hong Kong and Colombo,
mainly on account of higher tax rates. Aviation Turbine Fuel or jet fuel in Delhi, the city that houses
the nation s second busiest airport, costs USD 1,291 per kilolitre while the same in Singapore is sold
at USD 1,067 per kl. It costs USD 1,100 per kl in Hong Kong and USD 1,113 in Colombo. For
airlines, refueling cost in Delhi is 21.73 per cent higher than that in Singapore. Similarly, airlines in
India pay 14.82 per cent and 13.87 per cent more than what those in Colombo and Hong Kong pay
respectively.

Honors American Literature

Junior Paper
From the 1970s through the 1990s, for the first time in America, a significant generational gap,
followed closely by a second. As each generation sought to further its own interests, rifts developed
between the old and the new as their goals diverged. As a result, there would be significant opposition
between the generations to an extent not seen before. The first of these struggles would occur between
those of the Greatest Generation, also known as the G.I. Generation, commonly classified as those
born prior to World War I, and the Baby Boomers, who were born after World War II. This would not
be the last of its kind, though. Afterward the Boomers again came into conflict, this time with their
successors, Generation X, also known as Thirteeners, the thirteenth generation of Americans to be
born since the nation s founding. David Guterson s novel The Other is the autobiographical account of
fictional Neil Countryman, a recently retired high school English teacher and aspiring writer who, in
the frame of the story, is the true writer of this book; in his youth, Countryman had befriended the
eccentric John William Barry, the precocious son of an affluent family. Growing up in the 70s, on the
borderline between the late Baby Boomers and the first of Generation X, the two feel the influences of
both generational conflicts. Countryman details how his own life intersects with John William s

Speech About Blizzard
BOOOOOOOP! Hi, welcome to Dairy Queen, how can I help you?, I said. Yes, can I please get a
medium peanut butter cookie dough smash blizzard made with chocolate ice cream please, that s all,
comes the customer overly enthusiastic response. Okay, that will be $4.25, Thank you and please pull

begins. To start making this monstrosity of a blizzard, you need your medium blizzard cup,
approximately sixteen ounces. Now, since it s chocolate soft serve we need, you must walk all the way
from the drive thru to the front line, where we have the only machine that dispenses our chocolate soft

After your cup is half full, form one ball half in half out of the cup and finish off with the signature

fill your blizzard cup, but considering you re using chocolate soft serve, you ll just end up with a large
blob of mush, topped with a cringe worthy spike in place of the curl. At this moment in time, you must
equip your cup with a collar in order to add the required ingredients. What you will need to add is one
pump of peanut butter sauce, three black spoons of chocolate chunks, three clear spoons of cookie
dough, and to top it off three white spoons of peanut butter cookie pieces. Now that you ve finished
applying the ingredients, you should have everything on the verge of spilling over the collar, because
there is physically just too much packed into this single blizzard. Like

Pattern Of Behavior In Charles Baxter s Gryphon
In the story Gryphon (fictional) by Charles Baxter, There are two main question that are important to
the whole entire story. Why does Tommy defend Miss Ferenczi? And What do you learn about Tommy
from this pattern of behavior? There are some evidence to actually solve the answers. The first
explanation to question to why Tommy likes Mrs. F is that on page (57, line 430 to 431) it talks about
how Tommy was telling Carl Whiteside, the boy who has bad breath and collect lots of marbles in a

Dennis Kozlowski s Leadership In Crisis
Tyco international is a corporation that was founded in 1960 Arthur J. Rosenberg. It began as an
investment and holding company that eventually expanded into Healthcare, Electrical and Electronics,
Specialty Products and Fire and Security Services. Tyco became a solid publically traded company
under its founder and leader Arthur J Rosenberg. Under his leadership, Tyco not just expanded but
grew that between 1973 and 1982 the company went from $34 million to 500 million in consolidated
sales. (Ferrell, Fraedrich, Ferrell, 2011). The story of a leadership in crisis reflects on the governance
and unethical misconduct of its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dennis Kozlowski. Dennis Kozlowski
entered the corporation in 1975 and at the time was under the leadership of Joseph Gaziano. Dennis
was mentored by Gaziano and was quite impressed by the lavish, opulent and affluent lifestyle. In
1982 Gaziano passed away and John F. Fort III became CEO. His leadership style was that of one that
was quite frugal in his spending. This was a change within the culture of Tyco as it moved in a new
direction and Kozlowski had to adapt to the changes. Fort Leadership and Management style was to
cut back on what he saw as wasteful spending. He opposed the extravagance of that of his predecessor
and directed the company focus more towards making a profit for investors and shareholders.
Kozlowski adapted to the changes made by Fort and also supported the vision and new direction the

Theme Of Mariam In A Thousand Splendid Suns
In Khaled Hosseini s novel A Thousand Splendid Suns he presents the different aspects of Mariams
childhood through the interactions she has with the people in her life. Her interactions with Nana show
the effects if being raised a harami, with Jalil show her isolation and her naive attitude, with Mullah
Faizullah her piety and with Jalil s wives the reality of her poverty and low social status. This collates
to portray a miserable childhood, with religion (and Mullah Faizullah) as her only source of comfort
and happiness. Hosseini presents Mariam s childhood as revolving around the fact she is an
illegitimate child, her mother Nana was a housekeeper for a rich, married bussiness man Jalil. In the
first chapter Nana refers to Mariam as a harami a title frequently brought up in the novel to show the
massie impact t has on her life and that Mariam can neve escape being a bastard. Although Mariam
doesn t fully understand what it means in this chapter, she realises that it was an ugly, loathsome thing
to be a harami, like an insect . Hosseini uses the similie like an insect to show how because of her
illegitimacy Mariam is worthless and an inconvinience to others. The adjectives ugly and loathsome
emphasise Mariam s upsetting childhood and her feelings of inadequecy and repulsiveness. In Afghan
society generally having children out of wedlock is seen as a disgrace and the illegitimate children are
often considered as lower class. Later in the novel Nana recalls how she was removed from Jalil s
household and how he built them the Kolba they live in, which Nana refers to as a rathole . Hosseini
uses the semantic field of animals rathole , insect and cockroach to convey to the reader how deprived
Mariam s childhood is as a result of her being a harami, she is viewed as vermin throughout her
childhood. This relationship with Nana, who resents Mariam culminates in Nana s suicide, which
marks the end of Mariam s childhood and naivety. After returning from sleeping outside Jalil s home
she witnesses The rope dropping fom a high branch. Nana dangling at the end of it . The verb dangling
could be being used by Hosseini as it creates a tone of carelessness possibly reflecting the careless
way Nana

The Three Main Causes Of The Civil War
The North and South citizens were divided because of their huge differences. The tension between
them consisted of having disagreements on slavery, economical and political differences. The hate and
violence against each other later on led to the infamous Civil War. The Civil War, also known as the
War Between States , began in 1861 and lasted for four deadly years. This war of disputes and misery
led to the division of the two nations, the North and the South. The three main causes of the Civil War
between the North and the South were politics, economy, and slavery. The first main cause of the Civil
War was conflict between the North and the South about politics. During the election of 1860,
Abraham Lincoln was a candidate of the North while J.C. Breckinridge was the candidate of the
South. Abraham Lincoln successfully won with 180 electoral votes. This caused tension between the
North and the South because Abraham Lincoln was against the expansion of slavery (Doc N). The
Kansas Nebraska Act is an example of this. The Missouri Compromise Line of 1820 was repealed
when the Kansas Nebraska Act of 1845 was passed. The act organized territories on the principle of
popular sovereignty. This created a lot of stir between the two nations. In a cartoon created by Harry T.
Peters in 1856, it is shown that Preston Brooks, a member of the House of Representatives, attacking
Senator Charles Sumner, an abolitionist from Massachusetts, with a cane. This happened after Sumner

Differences And Similarities Between Lady Macbeth And The...
Both Robert Browning and William Shakespeare present their characters as strong, yet flawed
individuals. This essay will explore the ways in which Shakespeare presents Lady Macbeth of
Macbeth and Browning presents the Narrator of the poem The Laboratory in these ways by comparing
both texts and using quotes to demonstrate this as both do this by using a variety of different language
techniques and devices. This essay will compare how audiences would have reacted during the
Victorian and Elizabethan era, compared to a 21st century audience today.

Shakespeare emphasises this when Lady Macbeth says screw your courage to the sticking place and
we ll not fail when talking to Macbeth. Browning also does this when the narrator says grind away,

characters use imperative verbs and quite violent words such as grind , mash and screw , which make
the speaker sound quite aggressive and demanding. The women are shown to be ordering the men
around and telling them what to do in an impolite manner, this would be seen as unorthodox especially
during the 16th century as women were seen as inferior to men, whereas compared to the 21st century
both women would be seen as quite strong in contrast. Both characters have different aims, Lady
Macbeth is shown to be telling Macbeth to become more brave to kill the King and commit regicide
whereas the narrator is demanding the person making the poison in the apothecary to take their time

During the Trojan War, the gods were viewed as powerful but they were also divided and limited.
While the gods were viewed as powerful during the Trojan War , they were also divided amongst
which god was on the side of the Trojans or the Greeks. Before the war started, three goddesses have

mean helping someone get on the right track or is it about casting judgment or punishing a person for
doing something wrong? Certainly discipline is misunderstood. In this article I want to give you a
view of discipline that you may not have thought of and explain how to implement it with your team.
Observations about discipline:

Discipline saves time and energy It makes more sense to take action and discipline someone than it
does to waste time and energy thinking about it.
There are five progressive stages of discipline that can be used with individuals and help a team use its
energy more effectively. The process begins with simple communication and then builds in intensity
of action and involvement by the manager until the person acquires the targeted skill or finds a new
job. These progressive stages are designed to help the employee develop into an effective team
member. They are not designed to judge or punish an employee. The manager must exercise

Persuasive Essay On Recycling
With the rapidly increasing use of plastic, aluminum, and paper materials, it only makes sense that the
problem we chose to focus on is recycling. In the world of engineering, recycling has been a hot topic
for many years, so for one to say that deriving an idea that hasn t been done before is difficult, that
would be an understatement. As any group of well educated engineers would, we started our journey
at the drawing board. The brainstorming process was potentially the most time consuming section of
our task, given we easily spent over fifteen hours spouting off ideas and concepts for anything that we
thought we could do that we could patent. We then realized it wasn t just about us getting a patented
idea, it was about making a difference. So, we then realized something that could make a difference is
one of the things that we have been taught the importance of since we were in elementary school. That
was recycling.
Now that the first step of the brainstorming process was over, which was finding a general problem
area, we then needed to figure out what in the world it was that we were going to do that no one else
had done before. After a couple of days of brainstorming, we quickly realized that instead of coming
up with a fresh idea, innovating what is imperfect was the perfect way to approach this. In order to
find where the problems laid, we had to go to the consumer. We began asking our friends, family, and
even a few random people what they thought the biggest issue was that was hindering them from
recycling. After a few conversations, accessibility and attraction seemed to be the greatest factors.
With this in mind, we of course went back to the brainstorming process to figure out what exactly it
was that we were going to to do and how we would do it. After a few off the wall ideas, followed by
some mediocre ones, we decided we were going to innovate the recycling bin itself. We figured up a
plan to make the bin something that people could interact with and that could shred whatever
recyclable material that you put in it without requiring electric power. We then went with a slow,
torque based, hand crank that would be attached to some sort of shredding mechanism, one strong
enough to shred even

Robert Mondavi and the Wine Industry
Since the late 1960 s, California wine maker Robert Mondavi has been perceived by its stakeholders
as one of the world s most innovative and high quality producers of fine wine. It is therefore not
surprising that the company has endured great financial success; in fact, it has secured an impressive
annual growth in earnings per share of ~28% over the last 8 years. Recently however, there have been
many external forces that may serve to threaten the long term profitability of the firm: sales have been
decreasing over the last 6 months due to a staggering economy, Australian imports are on the rise,
shrinking the size of the pie for domestic firms, and there has been an industry wide trend to
consolidate; existing firms are merging and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Smaller firms such as the family run operations in Europe may not be able to realize these same cost
efficiencies. Furthermore, grapes represent 50 to 70% of a winemakers COGS, thus the competition
for sourcing high quality grape growers is quite high. Just as Mondavi does for 75% of its purchases,
most premium wine makers enter into long term contracts with growers to not only ensure that their
demand is met but also to make sure that they receive grapes that are consistent in quality. Due to the
fact that consumers have a plethora of premium wines (substitutes) to choose from and there is no
penalty for switching between brands consumer buying power is fairly high, making consumers
sensitive to price increases. As previously mentioned, the competition for sourcing quality grape
growers is high making switching costs high as well. In order to circumvent the dependency on
outside growers, Mondavi is starting to increase its internal sourcing capabilities. The premium wine
segment is quite concentrated with high barriers to entry making mergers and acquisitions a strong and
prevalent growth strategy. With industry analysts forecasting the demand for premium wine to grow at
8% to 10% per year, many former non rivals are now becoming a threat. Jug wine producers are
entering the premium market and beer and spirit producers

The World Is Too Much With Us Meaning
The Search for Happiness In the poem The World is Too Much With Us, Wordsworth implies that to
find true happiness one must disconnect himself from the corrupted world; in fact, Wordsworth goes
so far as to say true salvation lies in a reconnection to nature. Wordsworth speaks throughout the work
about the discontinuity of modern society with nature in it s never ending search for a distraction. An
analysis of the work allows the reader a reflection on themselves and their own happiness and
connection to nature, and what they would be willing to give up for that connection. An example of
Wordsworth s belief that modern society has become disconnected with nature and is corrupt, is in the
diction that he uses. Throughout the piece, the author states many of the ways in which the people
have become disconnected with true meaning such as, getting and spending, we lay waste our powers,
and we are out of tune [with nature], (Wordsworth 2,8). Wordsworth in these instances is explaining
the depth of our disconnection with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wordsworth was brought up in the Church of England and was a pious believer. However, in his
poem, Wordsworth states that he would, rather be a pagan suckled in a creed outworn, than be
disconnected with nature (9 10). This a further testament to Wordsworth s commitment to nature and
what he would be willing to give up in order to remain connected to it. In reference to Wordsworth s
statement that he would prefer paganism to disconnection Aubrey says, Wordsworth is saying,
presumably, that superstition is preferable to worldliness or apathy if it preserves the life of the
imagination and our sense of nature as a living presence with purposes akin to our own. In
Wordsworth s eyes, a life apart from the institution of belief he was raised in is much preferable to the
death of all that nature embodies for

Law Enforcement Provides Society With An Array Of...
Law enforcement provides society with an array of invaluable services that cannot be overlooked.
Law enforcement officers place themselves at considerable risk in order to protect the safety of others.
Moreover, these individuals are not prompted by financial incentives to enter this hazardous line of
work, but are instead motivated by the personal rewards and satisfaction that emanate from advancing
the interests of the commonwealth. However, in spite of their vast contributions, law enforcement
officers are capable of error and behaving unethically. For example, an officer may accidently commit
an infraction due to an oversight, or they may knowingly abuse their position of authority. Thus,
various protections have been afforded to the public as a defense against the violation of their rights.
The fourth amendment functions as a deterrent against police impropriety by establishing the
conditions under which an officer can perform a search. Overall, the vehicle search that was
conducted in the scenario was illegal; thus, any of the evidence that was seized would be inadmissible
in a court of law.
The Legality of the Search
Some of the actions of the other officer were warranted and they did initially act within the confines of
the law. Ultimately, the other officer did not arbitrarily decide to stop a vehicle. The registration of the
vehicle had been expired, which constitutes an offense; thus, the other officer did have legitimate
grounds to stop the vehicle. However,

Essay On The Black Swan
1. The Black Swan : The impact of the Highly Improbable by Nassim Taleb is a great article that

try really hard they cant. We try to generalize things but there is no proof that there is a possibility that
other ideas are out there. The example that Im thinking of is the black swan. In history so many people
have tried to predict so many historical events that have happened. They have someway predicted the

FEMA was not prepared or not organized for what was to come from Katrina. FEMA couldn t provide
shelter and food for those who needed it. Thousands of people of New Orleans and parts of
Mississippi were not helped. This made me realize if an organization like FEMA wants to be
successful in the future they need to have System thinking as one of their key focus. This will help
them when an another natural disaster like Katrina comes. Senge states that System thinking is a
discipline for seeing the structures that underlie complex situations, and for discerning high from low
leverage change. That is, by seeing wholes we learn how to foster health. (Senge 69). If a complex
organization uses system thinking in every decision that has to be made then many problem can be cut
down and that means you can limit the uncertain failures that come with a complex organization. The
organization has to make sure that they are prepared and ready for any problem that is thrown at them.
System thinking can help an organization be successful at the end of the day.
The one thing that be very important is strategies which helps cut down the unforeseen failures within
complex organizations. The complex organizations will face failures without planning properly or
without having great guidance from a leader. Perfect examples of how to cut down risk for complex
organizations is the way Thad Allen approach the rescue missions of Hurricane Katrina. An

For instance, Christian Science started in 1879. It was founded by a poor woman named Mary Baker Eddy who became rich from her new founded religion. Scientology was founded in 1953. Unlike Christian Science, Scientology is an independent religion. It was founded by a man named L. Ron Hubbard. Christian Science is based off Christianity. It is a new interpretation of the Bible. Scientology is a religious responds to therapeutic help. Christian Science centers on the idea of God. Scientology focuses on a person in need of help. Christian Science sees God as the only creator. • 4. A Brief History Of United States Mental Health Care Essay PRELIMINARY LITERATURE REVIEW A brief history of the United States mental health care The United States has never had an official federal centered approach for mental health care facilities, entrusting its responsibility to the states throughout the history. The earliest initiatives in this field took place in the 18th century, when Virginia built its first asylum and Pennsylvania Hospital reserved its basement to house individuals with mental disorders (Sundararaman, 2009). During the 19th century, other services were built, but their overall lack of quality was alarming. Even then, researchers and professionals in the mental health field attempted to implement the principles of the so called public health, focusing on prevention and early intervention, but the funds were in the hands of the local governments, which prevented significant advances in this direction. In 1946, President Truman signed the National Mental Health Act, allowing federal funds for education and research in mental health. By the time of the Great Depression and the World War II, asylums were in unsustainable conditions and traumatized veterans were returning home needing psychiatric attention. Also in a federal extent, Congress passed the Mental Health Study Act in 1955, establishing a commission to check policies and propose reforms in psychiatric treatments. Around that time the deinstitutionalization movement started changing the mental health picture. In 1963, the Mental Health Community Act ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Nature of Women Portrayed by Circe and Calypso in The Odyssey In Homer s composition, The Odyssey, the roles women play are very significant. The best examples of the true nature of women occur when Odysseus encounters Circe and Calypso. These two characters illustrate the thoughts and feelings of how women how a woman feels and how they think. As the quote states, Circe and Calypso illustrate how women really can be crafty, intelligent, sneaky, disloyal, and cruel. In contrast to battles with men, Cyclops, or animals, sexual battles with women are sometimes much more difficult to win. These two female characters are especially enticing to Odysseus because they are goddesses. Though it is evident that Odysseus longs to return ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This time spent on Circe s island was a test of whether he could resist lust from a goddess, and he fails. At first it appears as though the only reason Odysseus sleeps with Circe is to regain his companions, but she easily persuades them to stay. What makes it worse is the fact that Odysseus is not even the first one ready to go. His men are the ones who urge him to leave: What ails you now? It is time to think about our own country (Book X, line 472). At a glance, it appears that Odysseus is merely succumbing to Circe s schemes for reasons related to their health and well being, if we read between the lines, we soon begin to realize that Odysseus is weak in the voracious hands of lust. Odysseus arrives on Calypso s island in her cave. At first, it seems like Odysseus doesn t seem much to mind her taking care of him, but over time it is plainly evident that he is unhappy with her. When Hermes arrives on Calypso s island to give her the message from Zeus to release Odysseus, he is bawling on the beach a daylong activity for him. Calypso is holding him with her by force; she has no companions to help him back to Ithaca, nor has she a ship to send him in. Athena pleads with Zeus to give Odysseus good fortune, ... • 6. Religion In Euripides Bacchant Euripides Bacchants, is a play about the god Dionysus wanting to diffuse his religion all throughout Greece, especially to those who doubted that he was the son of Zeus. His religion consists of both male and female followers performing dances and chants, while drinking wine, and sacrificing an animal. During the play there is constant mockery and disapproval of the way Dionysus religion was looked at by the people of Thebes, compared to ancient Greece s morals and what the people thought was right and valuable in their beliefs. Ancient Greece had a mix of two different cultures, the Mycenaean and Minoan. The Minoans would worship a fertility mother goddess, (Morford, 45). While the Mycenaean believed in a sky god named Zeus. Both of these different cultures and their beliefs fused together to influence Greek mythology and a majority of what ancient Greeks believed in. People in Greece gained influence from Asian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the play Bacchants, there was a lack of worshipping to Dionysus since people did not believe that he was a god. Resembling to ancient Greece s beliefs, those who did not believe in Dionysus were running a risk. Dionysus states in the beginning of the play, This city must learn, whether it likes it or not, that it still wants initiation into my Bacchic rites. The cause of my mother Semele I must defend by proving to mortals that I am a god, borne by her to Zeus, (Euripides, 784). Dionysus continues the passage by stating that the grandson of Cadmus, Pentheus opposes to worship him, therefore Dionysus was going to expose himself to Pentheus and prove him wrong. This connects to the belief that if one does not pray to a god in ancient Greece, then they would be running the risk of having something bad happen to them. In the end, since Pentheus still did not want to recognize Dionysus as a god, he was killed by his mother while she was performing the Bacchic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Underachievement Of Male And Female Education The underachievement of males in society has been a growing problem that is being widely ignored by society. Children are experiencing the most important and emotional part of their lives when they are in school that will leave ever lasting effects. The success of people as students are not real indicators of how they will do later in life, but it is the confidence and self esteem that people will remember in their school days that might stay with adults until they realize that it is keeping them down or until death. Stereotypes, lack of male role models, more feminized school system, and combining this all together to find the underlying problem of the female majority who are succeeding, graduating, and are accepted more often than males. These are the main issues to figure out when it comes to the imbalance of male and female education. Male Underachievement in Education Introduction In recent years, female achievement in the education system has grown very strong, but in its place, male achievement in education has plummeted. Due to male stereotypes, lack of male role models in school and at home along with the adoption of more feminized school places and practices, males are no longer being challenged to take risks and freely engage in critical thinking skills to be able to succeed as much as females in the current educational system. Since the recent uprising of the feminist movement, the fact that females are faring better than their male counterparts, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Failure Of The Spanish Armada The Spanish Armada was a fleet sent by Philip II of Spain to fight against Queen Elizabeth I in an effort to defeat Protestant England. The Spanish Armada is interesting because its defeat came unexpectedly when a fleet of 130 ships and 30,000 men were defeated by a smaller scale counter attacking convoy that was sent by the English. The nation s current strategic planning was based on mistakes from previous battles, such as the Spanish Armada. By learning from these mistakes, it will help the army, navy, and military in future preparation for battles that they may have to face. While planning and entering battle against England, the Spanish Armada faced constant misfortune, which ultimately ended in defeat and failure; however, it influenced succeeding battles and strategies. The Spanish Armada had major flaws that resulted in its defeat that began from its sudden planning for an invasion. Philip II wanted revenge on England for the execution of Queen Mary of Scots, a Catholic monarch. Moreover, She was beheaded because Queen Elizabeth wanted to prevent a Catholic from reigning over the English throne, ending Philip s hope of a Catholic monarch. Consequently, Philip made a rash decision to surprise England with an attack that didn t take as much thought as many successful armadas have taken. After deciding to gain revenge on Queen Elizabeth, the decision to mount a full scale invasion of England was taken suddenly and irrevocably (Parker). The improper planning on ... Describe at least three aspects of this period that affected union activity. Be sure to give reasons and examples to back up any claims made. The first seeds of the union movement in the United States can be traced back to a few decades before the World War I. The economy of the country was slowly turning capitalist and the affluent society gaining a strong hold in key decisions regarding employment in established businesses across the States. This had resulted in the emergence of political groups (Organized Labor World war, 2007)which were predominantly leftist or socialist in their orientation. Some of them included organizations like the Socialist Party and the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW). These movements gained popularity amongst the lower classes of society through the messages that they consciously trickled down the lines about their objective of creating a democratic society which would be controlled by the working class which would not have ... This resulted in the AFL changing their stand diabolically and the anti war sentiments soon shifted to being pro war. • 29. Theme Of Mariam In A Thousand Splendid Suns In Khaled Hosseini s novel A Thousand Splendid Suns he presents the different aspects of Mariams childhood through the interactions she has with the people in her life. Her interactions with Nana show the effects if being raised a harami, with Jalil show her isolation and her naive attitude, with Mullah Faizullah her piety and with Jalil s wives the reality of her poverty and low social status. This collates to portray a miserable childhood, with religion (and Mullah Faizullah) as her only source of comfort and happiness. Hosseini presents Mariam s childhood as revolving around the fact she is an illegitimate child, her mother Nana was a housekeeper for a rich, married bussiness man Jalil. In the first chapter Nana refers to Mariam as a harami a title frequently brought up in the novel to show the massie impact t has on her life and that Mariam can neve escape being a bastard. Although Mariam doesn t fully understand what it means in this chapter, she realises that it was an ugly, loathsome thing to be a harami, like an insect . Hosseini uses the similie like an insect to show how because of her illegitimacy Mariam is worthless and an inconvinience to others. The adjectives ugly and loathsome emphasise Mariam s upsetting childhood and her feelings of inadequecy and repulsiveness. In Afghan society generally having children out of wedlock is seen as a disgrace and the illegitimate children are often considered as lower class. Later in the novel Nana recalls how she was removed from Jalil s household and how he built them the Kolba they live in, which Nana refers to as a rathole . Hosseini uses the semantic field of animals rathole , insect and cockroach to convey to the reader how deprived Mariam s childhood is as a result of her being a harami, she is viewed as vermin throughout her childhood. This relationship with Nana, who resents Mariam culminates in Nana s suicide, which marks the end of Mariam s childhood and naivety. The Civil War, also known as the War Between States , began in 1861 and lasted for four deadly years. This war of disputes and misery led to the division of the two nations, the North and the South. The three main causes of the Civil War between the North and the South were politics, economy, and slavery. The first main cause of the Civil War was conflict between the North and the South about politics. During the election of 1860, Abraham Lincoln was a candidate of the North while J.C. Breckinridge was the candidate of the South. Abraham Lincoln successfully won with 180 electoral votes. This caused tension between the North and the South because Abraham Lincoln was against the expansion of slavery (Doc N). The Kansas Nebraska Act is an example of this. The Missouri Compromise Line of 1820 was repealed when the Kansas Nebraska Act of 1845 was passed. The act organized territories on the principle of popular sovereignty. This created a lot of stir between the two nations. In a cartoon created by Harry T. Peters in 1856, it is shown that Preston Brooks, a member of the House of Representatives, attacking Senator Charles Sumner, an abolitionist from Massachusetts, with a cane. This happened after Sumner attacked ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Differences And Similarities Between Lady Macbeth And The... Both Robert Browning and William Shakespeare present their characters as strong, yet flawed individuals. This essay will explore the ways in which Shakespeare presents Lady Macbeth of Macbeth and Browning presents the Narrator of the poem The Laboratory in these ways by comparing both texts and using quotes to demonstrate this as both do this by using a variety of different language techniques and devices. This essay will compare how audiences would have reacted during the Victorian and Elizabethan era, compared to a 21st century audience today. William Shakespeare portrays Lady Macbeth as a confident individual all throughout the play, this is evident when Shakespeare uses personification to describe Lady Macbeth s tongue when she says chastise with the valour of my tongue in Act 1 Scene 7, this highlights her manipulative ... Browning also does this when the narrator says grind away, moisten and mash up thy paste, pound at thy powder, I am not in haste! to the scientist. Both characters use imperative verbs and quite violent words such as grind , mash and screw , which make the speaker sound quite aggressive and demanding. The women are shown to be ordering the men around and telling them what to do in an impolite manner, this would be seen as unorthodox especially during the 16th century as women were seen as inferior to men, whereas compared to the 21st century both women would be seen as quite strong in contrast. Both characters have different aims, Lady Macbeth is shown to be telling Macbeth to become more brave to kill the King and commit regicide whereas the narrator is demanding the person making the poison in the apothecary to take their time making the perfect poison in order for her to kill her ex lovers new love ... • 35. Persuasive Essay On Recycling With the rapidly increasing use of plastic, aluminum, and paper materials, it only makes sense that the problem we chose to focus on is recycling. In the world of engineering, recycling has been a hot topic for many years, so for one to say that deriving an idea that hasn t been done before is difficult, that would be an understatement. As any group of well educated engineers would, we started our journey at the drawing board. The brainstorming process was potentially the most time consuming section of our task, given we easily spent over fifteen hours spouting off ideas and concepts for anything that we thought we could do that we could patent. We then realized it wasn t just about us getting a patented idea, it was about making a difference. So, we then realized something that could make a difference is one of the things that we have been taught the importance of since we were in elementary school. That was recycling. Now that the first step of the brainstorming process was over, which was finding a general problem area, we then needed to figure out what in the world it was that we were going to do that no one else had done before. After a couple of days of brainstorming, we quickly realized that instead of coming up with a fresh idea, innovating what is imperfect was the perfect way to approach this. In order to find where the problems laid, we had to go to the consumer. We began asking our friends, family, and even a few random people what they thought the biggest issue was that was hindering them from recycling. After a few conversations, accessibility and attraction seemed to be the greatest factors. With this in mind, we of course went back to the brainstorming process to figure out what exactly it was that we were going to to do and how we would do it. After a few off the wall ideas, followed by some mediocre ones, we decided we were going to innovate the recycling bin itself. We figured up a plan to make the bin something that people could interact with and that could shred whatever recyclable material that you put in it without requiring electric power. We then went with a slow, torque based, hand crank that would be attached to some sort of shredding mechanism, one strong enough to shred even ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Robert Mondavi and the Wine Industry Since the late 1960 s, California wine maker Robert Mondavi has been perceived by its stakeholders as one of the world s most innovative and high quality producers of fine wine. It is therefore not surprising that the company has endured great financial success; in fact, it has secured an impressive annual growth in earnings per share of ~28% over the last 8 years. Recently however, there have been many external forces that may serve to threaten the long term profitability of the firm: sales have been decreasing over the last 6 months due to a staggering economy, Australian imports are on the rise, shrinking the size of the pie for domestic firms, and there has been an industry wide trend to consolidate; existing firms are merging and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Smaller firms such as the family run operations in Europe may not be able to realize these same cost efficiencies. Furthermore, grapes represent 50 to 70% of a winemakers COGS, thus the competition for sourcing high quality grape growers is quite high. Just as Mondavi does for 75% of its purchases, most premium wine makers enter into long term contracts with growers to not only ensure that their demand is met but also to make sure that they receive grapes that are consistent in quality. Due to the fact that consumers have a plethora of premium wines (substitutes) to choose from and there is no penalty for switching between brands consumer buying power is fairly high, making consumers sensitive to price increases. As previously mentioned, the competition for sourcing quality grape growers is high making switching costs high as well. In order to circumvent the dependency on outside growers, Mondavi is starting to increase its internal sourcing capabilities. The premium wine segment is quite concentrated with high barriers to entry making mergers and acquisitions a strong and prevalent growth strategy. With industry analysts forecasting the demand for premium wine to grow at 8% to 10% per year, many former non rivals are now becoming a threat. Jug wine producers are entering the premium market and beer and spirit producers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. The World Is Too Much With Us Meaning The Search for Happiness In the poem The World is Too Much With Us, Wordsworth implies that to find true happiness one must disconnect himself from the corrupted world; in fact, Wordsworth goes so far as to say true salvation lies in a reconnection to nature. Wordsworth speaks throughout the work about the discontinuity of modern society with nature in it s never ending search for a distraction. An analysis of the work allows the reader a reflection on themselves and their own happiness and connection to nature, and what they would be willing to give up for that connection. An example of Wordsworth s belief that modern society has become disconnected with nature and is corrupt, is in the diction that he uses. Throughout the piece, the author states many of the ways in which the people have become disconnected with true meaning such as, getting and spending, we lay waste our powers, and we are out of tune [with nature], (Wordsworth 2,8). Wordsworth in these instances is explaining the depth of our disconnection with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Wordsworth was brought up in the Church of England and was a pious believer. However, in his poem, Wordsworth states that he would, rather be a pagan suckled in a creed outworn, than be disconnected with nature (9 10). This a further testament to Wordsworth s commitment to nature and what he would be willing to give up in order to remain connected to it. In reference to Wordsworth s statement that he would prefer paganism to disconnection Aubrey says, Wordsworth is saying, presumably, that superstition is preferable to worldliness or apathy if it preserves the life of the imagination and our sense of nature as a living presence with purposes akin to our own. In Wordsworth s eyes, a life apart from the institution of belief he was raised in is much preferable to the death of all that nature embodies for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Law Enforcement Provides Society With An Array Of... Law enforcement provides society with an array of invaluable services that cannot be overlooked. Law enforcement officers place themselves at considerable risk in order to protect the safety of others. Moreover, these individuals are not prompted by financial incentives to enter this hazardous line of work, but are instead motivated by the personal rewards and satisfaction that emanate from advancing the interests of the commonwealth. However, in spite of their vast contributions, law enforcement officers are capable of error and behaving unethically. For example, an officer may accidently commit an infraction due to an oversight, or they may knowingly abuse their position of authority. Thus, various protections have been afforded to the public as a defense against the violation of their rights. The fourth amendment functions as a deterrent against police impropriety by establishing the conditions under which an officer can perform a search. Overall, the vehicle search that was conducted in the scenario was illegal; thus, any of the evidence that was seized would be inadmissible in a court of law. The Legality of the Search Some of the actions of the other officer were warranted and they did initially act within the confines of the law. Ultimately, the other officer did not arbitrarily decide to stop a vehicle. The registration of the vehicle had been expired, which constitutes an offense; thus, the other officer did have legitimate grounds to stop the vehicle. However, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Black Swan : The impact of the Highly Improbable by Nassim Taleb is a great article that caught my attention the article gives insight on why people cannot predict the future. Even if humans try really hard they cant. We try to generalize things but there is no proof that there is a possibility that other ideas are out there. The example that Im thinking of is the black swan. In history so many people have tried to predict so many historical events that have happened. They have someway predicted the dates to these events. Even though they predicted the dates the event didn t happen according to plan. No one can predict the future of our world. Black swans being unpredictable we need to adjust to their existence. Thousands of people of New Orleans and parts of Mississippi were not helped. This will help them when an another natural disaster like Katrina comes. Senge states that System thinking is a discipline for seeing the structures that underlie complex situations, and for discerning high from low leverage change. That is, by seeing wholes we learn how to foster health. (Senge 69). If a complex organization uses system thinking in every decision that has to be made then many problem can be cut down and that means you can limit the uncertain failures that come with a complex organization. The organization has to make sure that they are prepared and ready for any problem that is thrown at them. System thinking can help an organization be successful at the end of the day. The one thing that be very important is strategies which helps cut down the unforeseen failures within complex organizations. The complex organizations will face failures without planning properly or without having great guidance from a leader.
