An Analysis Of Walt Disney s The Lucky Rabbit Shorts
While many were shocked at the blatant racism displayed in The Song of the South, it is not the first
piece of Disney animation to feature controversial material. Walt Disney s Oswald the Lucky Rabbit
shorts had quite a bit of adult humor in it. In one short, Oswald gets chased by a bear into a cave
where a fight takes place. Oswald comes out wearing a fur coat and the bear comes out wearing
nothing but a bra and panties (Griffin, 2000). A closer look at Disney films may also indicate that
Disney may have subtly used their films to speak out about political and religious issues. In certain
films, there seems to be set values based off of Western Christian beliefs. The film Bambi is also
thought to send a message about gun control ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Disney Company is an empire, branching off into many different aspects of our society. One of
those aspects is vacation destinations, or more specifically, Disney s theme park. Eight out of eleven
of Disney s parks are among the most visited vacation destinations in the world. When developing his
parks, Walt Disney wanted people to feel as if they were placed right in the middle of their favorite
story, a goal that has very much been obtained. From honeymoons to family vacations, Disney parks
have an undeniable charm to them that keep the public coming back (Knight 2014). For the most part,
these parks are a place to escape the hustle and bustle of the outside world. A place where adults and
children alike can live in the magic for a little while, to be the main character in their favorite stories.
To some, however, the parks are just a symbol of Disney s mass greed. In the book Team Rodent: How
Disney Devours the World , the author tells us how ironic it is that people visit these parks as a way to
escape the very world that Disney has created. One of the greatest ironies upon visiting Disney World
is the wave of relief that overwhelms you upon entering the place relief to be free of the nerve
shattering traffic and the endless ugly sprawl. These happy places are not protected from tragedy,
however. A horrific accident occurred at one Who Framed Roger Rabbit themed ride, when a young
boy by the name of Brandon was dragged beneath one of the

Examples Of Social Identity In 12 Angry Men
3. Social identity (10 points): What role(s) does social identity play in the movie? Discuss SID in
relationship of the jury to the accused. (Define your terms and give two examples of how they apply).
Social identity is a theory which explains how people develop a sense of belong and membership to a
group. Individual s social identity is part of their self concept which derives from their knowledge of
their membership of a social group together with the emotional significance attached to that
membership (Forsyth, 13). People are influenced on the group they belong to. Belonging to the in
group makes a person feel good because they belong somewhere in this group and allows them to feel
important. The out group is where people feel to be, they do not belong to a group and have feeling of
exclusion and are often times treated more harshly than someone who belongs to the ingroup. This
bias of favoring the ingroup relative to the outgroup leads to false impressions being made and
stereotypes forming. Stereotypes help us navigate the world around us by providing a quick
representation of what we think a person is like. This does not mean our perceptions are always
correct and occasionally, this quick mental shortcut can get us into trouble. For example, the film 12
Angry Men stereotyping was rampant among the jury. When a stereotype is used it can cause a
disruption of procedures. Instead, of inspecting all the evidence with an objective eye a bias can allow
for systematic

Museum Report At Los Angeles County Museum Of Art
Museum Report After visiting the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), I felt as if this was
an entire new experience for me, seeing that this was my first time to visit a museum. Before entering
the museum, I decided to analyze the front entrance of the Ahmanson building. What I observed is that
the inventor of the building kept it simple and precise, which there were red metal bars that supported
the front entrance. And there was a glass door incorporated into the entrance as well, this glass door
would consist of information of what type of art is inside. For example, modern art, Islamic art,
European art, and so on. As I went inside, I was welcomed with an enormous piece of art that
encompassed several geometric shapes. Likewise, this art piece could be studied from multiple
perspectives, from the first floor and second floor. As for the work of arts, most of the art was
displayed on white walls, it should be noted that the walls were beginning to become dirty. One last
thing about the interior of the building is that I appreciated the atmosphere, since there was sufficient
space to observe the art from different viewpoints. That being said, I will now go on and discuss about
the piece of art that spoke to me (not literally). The piece of art that spoke to me was called The
Liberator, in 1947, created by Rene Magritte. Oil and canvas were the foundation that was utilized by
Magritte, leading to the formation of his painting. One of the main reasons why this piece

Jung And Freud As Unscientific
Although many psychologists dismiss the theories of Jung and Freud as unscientific, they are very
well known and highly influential. Why do you think this is?
Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud are two of the most well known psychologists due to both their
contributions to psychology that are still relevant today and also the controversial nature of their work.
Many psychologists believed that their work was not scientific and therefore not useful in psychology.
For example, Freud s theories are considered unfalsifiable because they cannot be proved or
disproved, which is mainly due to the abstract concepts that cannot be measured objectively. There
was a subjective nature to their work, which had little empirical evidence to support it. However,
many of Freud and Jung s original theories and ideas are highly influential and have practical
implications in the present day, despite their lack of a scientific approach.
One of the main implications of Freud s work was the development of psychoanalysis, which was
considered unscientific as any evidence supporting its success was based on self report data and not on
scientific evidence. In addition, any evidence that did regard psychoanalysis as a successful treatment
of mental illness did not suggest that it was any more successful than other treatments.
Freud approached mental illness in a whole new way, considering the possibility that mental illness
was not purely physiological but that mental illnesses had a psychological basis

I had figured that it had not moved or deleted itself so I went back online to redownload the file. Once
online and on the website in which the correct file was located, I had begun to search for the file
again. After searching for nearly 30 seconds, the browser had suddenly closed and left me staring
blankly at the desktop. About 5 seconds had passed and it mysteriously opened back up but this time
on an unfamiliar webpage; 30 seconds passing again until I was back staring at the desktop for another
5 seconds. This process went on for around a minute before I had decided to restart the computer.
Once the computer had restarted and everything was running as normal again, it was time to relaunch
the browser and download the proper file. The browser launched with no problem at all and I was able
to successfully navigate to the correct website once again and was able to begin searching. Once
again, after so long of skimming the page for the file, the browser shut down without a notice and
restarted, opening to the same unknown website as before. The next day my parents needed to use the
computer and discovered the problem. Immediately they had known it was my fault and put me in
charge of removing the virus. Without any clue as to how to remove malware from a computer, my
first thought was to go to YouTube and search for a generic video of how to clean a computer of
viruses. Cluelessly I followed the instructions of the video and opened critical file systems

Premature Babies And Their Chances Of Survival
Premature babies have existed since the beginning of time. The only difference between now and the
past is that babies currently have more chances of survival. This paper will discuss a few components:
the history of premature babies, impact of knowledge and technology and the nurses that take care of
premature babies. We have the advancement in technology to thank for that. Today there are still some
cases where the baby might be born and still be too underdeveloped and die even with technology. For
example, I have a friend that had a baby a few months ago at nineteen weeks gestation and neither one
of the baby s lungs were developed so she died. They told her that since she was so early that there
was no way to save the baby even if they attempted to. The reason this subject means so much to me
is because I also had a premature baby. My son came at twenty seven weeks gestation and stayed in
the hospital for eleven weeks. Although he came early he survived and I am forever grateful for that.
Technology and Vanderbilt played a big part in that. Premature care was very rare but is now standard.
History of the NICU World
It is known that you might not be able to control or prevent preterm birth therefore improving the
infant s health and quality of life is the goal. The knowledge and technology was not available to keep
the babies alive. Once a child is born premature they are placed in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
In the early 20th century premature birth was the

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Film Coatings
Banerjee et al. [18] observed that the sprayed liquid droplet tends to flatten out into a disk on impact
with substrate surface and the geometry of the disk depends mainly on the momentum and volume of
the droplet and also on the substrate temperature.
The thin film formation is a resultant of the following processes:
i) spreading of the sprayed droplets on the surface of the hot substrate into disks ii) pyrolytic reaction
between the decomposed reactants iii) evaporation of the solvent iv) repetition of the proceeding
processes with succeeding droplets.
The process parameters such as concentration of the precursor solution, type of solvent, doping
material, spray nozzle geometry, flow rate of carrier gas and solution, velocities of sprayed droplets,
nature and temperature of the substrate, kinetics and thermodynamics of the pyrolytic reaction mainly
determine the properties of the spray deposited films.
3.4.2. Advantages of spray pyrolysis technique over other techniques Spray pyrolysis is one of the
simple and cost effective techniques suitable for commercial and mass production of thin film
coatings [19]. It is a fast coating process easily applicable for large area depositions at atmospheric
conditions. In addition to the inexpensive and simple experimental arrangement, this method has

Advantages Of Agent Based Simulation
1. Introduction
Since the development of economics as a science, the majority of economists have used analytical
models to explain economics hugely based on mathematical principles. Starting from the basic
theorem of equilibrium which is very easily developed using mathematical principles only, to the
optimization techniques, which involves plain usage of derivatives and other mathematical principles,
these techniques lack to make a whole model with many unknowns in order to derive to a complex set
of results, in contrary to only one result working in certain assumptions that they offer. Even though
most of the theorems we use today in economics derive from analytical methods, the need to make
decisions or solve real economical issues nowadays ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Agent Based Modeling and Simulation
One could simply ask, why use ABM or ACE? As mentioned in the section above, there are several
reasons why using ABM has a sort of competitive advantages toward other analytical or statistical
based methods.
In ACE, the possibility to include a large number of agents in the model, all in distributed corporation,
provides creating of a large scale system in order to observe micro or macro principles. This is quite
hard and tedious to be accomplished even using econometric principles with the help of software
program, due to the problem of biased results and limitation on the dependent variables. In the context
of ACE, several experiments can be conducted with unlimited number of agents involved in the
system.
Secondly, ACE can be considered as a great software for any business who would like to make
decision making more strategic based, and furthermore, increase its competitive advantage in the
market, by simulation the same conditions of the actual current market, to a virtual world in a simple
software. Thereby usage of ACE is not restricted to only research based works, but can be used as a
competitive tool for any business as well. The traditional rules of forecasting or gaining competence in
a business do not provide such advanced possibility to forecast and

In humans/animals, the main cells that store fat for energy are adipocytes. These fat cells are found
under the skin, in the abdominal cavity and surround major organs. The fatty tissue is the body s main
means of storing energy for long periods of time. Lipids, like triglycerides are stored in the adipocytes
until ready to be used by the body for energy. Fat is broken down through metabolism in the
mitochondria of the cell. The triglycerides are broken down into glycerol and 3 fatty acids. The
glycerol can be easily converted to glyceraldehyde 3 phosphate, an intermediate of glycolysis. From
there it can go through the Krebs Cycle and electron transport chain to make ATP. The 3 fatty acids
can be broken ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Every cell membrane incorporates a fluid mosaic model. The mosaic of protein molecules embedded
in a lipid bilayer. It s fluid as most proteins and lipid molecules drift through it. The membrane
consists of a phospholipid bilayer embedded with various proteins. The proteins help to get
polar/hydrophilic molecules through the plasma membrane. Polar molecules have difficulty passing
thru the hydrophilic membrane. Nonpolar molecules however, easily pass thru. The proteins can be
integral proteins, meaning they go all the way through the lipid bilayer or peripheral proteins that sit
on the hydrophilic outer layer and wait for something to happen. The layers are somewhat fluid,
allowing the proteins to move across them. See diagram below.
No fat diets can actually do more harm than good. The body needs moderation of all energy producing
macronutrients; fats, carbohydrates and proteins. By not eating any fat, the body starts to utilize the
fats stored in the body, thus depleting the stores and people lose weight. However, once those stores
are gone, the good fats or HDL s, are no longer able to filter out the bad cholesterol. This can lead to
increased cholesterol levels in the blood and heart disease. A no fat diet also causes poor vitamin
absorption of the necessary fat soluble vitamins A, D, E and K. Fats transport those vitamins from the
liver to various parts of the body.

The Game Of Pokemon Go On The Privacy Of Your Own Home
Imagine small third party companies watching every step you take and viewing your actions through
your own cellphone camera that s looking right at you. Watching you walk the dog, or drive in the car,
or lounge around in the privacy of your own home. Here s the catch, these party companies are
making money off of you when your phone is in use, without your realization. These exploits are
happening as the days go by, and no one seems to shine light on this subject. The main issue here is
big companies, such as Google, are giving people free apps to download and making money. They do
this not only by customers making in app purchases, but for selling your personal information to third
party companies who then make revenue by putting it on the stock market. I would like to
acknowledge that the Government needs to illuminate these exploits these companies are constructing,
other than playing along with them, as they are edging into violating our privacy as U.S. citizens. The
newly released hit game Pokemon Go has sparked some light in the souls of many people from the 90

them, and playing with friends. Aside from all the great things about this game, it may have a darker
side that people do not really understand. Behind Pokemon GO is man named John Hanke. Hanke is a

Everglades Restoration
Considering spatial variability of public s preference for the Everglades restoration Everglades, the
largest subtropical wetland of North America, has encountered anthropogenic perturbation since the
last quarter of 19th century when canals were built and peatlands were drained for economic gain
(Godfrey and Catton, 2011). Since then, the system has been exploited, drained, polluted and changed
from its natural setup to escalate and widen the potential services from it. The present state is a highly
regulated system to buttress economic productivity and fulfill several regional demands. The
Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan, one of the world s largest restoration initiative, aims to
restore, protect and preserve the water resources of central and southern Florida (National Research
Council, 2014). While the restoration program is built on a foundation of retrospective science backed
by several years of sophisticated research on understanding the Everglades and similar ecosystem
(Estenoz and Bush, 2015), the human dimension of restoration was not studied adequately(Clarke and
Dalrymple, 2003; Kranzer, 2002; National Research Council, 2014). Particularly, the spatial extent of
residents preference or the heterogeneity of their opinion is important for CERP as the plan aims to

Sacred Space
Introduction: What is a Sacred Space?
To examine each of the key words in the title individually would be quite a large undertaking. The
idea of sacredness applies to many religions in various ways, be it religious rituals or the presence of
God. Even the idea of space is complicated and controversial when many religions lay claim to one
place. So these two terms, when put together, can therefore have different interpretations on many
levels. There is, first, the idea of the sacred space known worldwide; these are usually referred to as
sites of pilgrimage, visited by adherents of that particular religion. On a smaller lever, there is the idea
of a sacred space that is attended locally, be it a temple, church, synagogue, or mosque. And ... Show

Every religion has had at least one schism or split that separated it into different sects. Therefore one
cannot claim to just analyze Judaism, for example; in reality one must then analyze each individual
sect and offshoot of Judaism. Again, an essay of that detail and scope would be difficult so it comes
down to the process of selecting the proper sect to analyze. In my opinion, there are two important
aspects to consider. One, what sect is the most traditional? Which sect dates as far back to the original
religion as possible, and therefore has undergone the least change? The second factor to consider is
popularity among adherents. One cannot focus on a sect of a religion that only applies to a tiny
minority of those who claim to be adherents of the broad religion; the analysis isn t relevant in that
case. Thus it becomes necessary to examine each religion Judaism, Christianity, and Islam and
determine which sect is the best to investigate for the answer to the question: What is the perception of
a sacred space in different religions? In Judaism there are four main sects: Reconstructionist, Reform,
Conservative, and Orthodox ( Intermarriage ). It is evident just from the title of the sect that Reform
and Reconstructionist Judaism are not the most traditional. Therefore it comes down to Orthodox and
Conservative. Orthodox is definitely more traditional, taking the words of the Torah as literal Jewish

Chicano School Failure Essay
The worst three plights that are discussed in Valencia s Chicano School Failure and Success are
language/cultural exclusion, teacher student interaction, and Chicano teaching force. Valencia
discusses how Chicano students have experienced persistent and persuasive language suppression and
cultural exclusion in the public school system (8). These laws and policies were instated, with one
purpose, to ensure the dominance of the English language and Anglo culture (Valencia 8). White
culture enforced this belief, that being bilingual and bicultural will create a threat to the dominant
white English speaking population. In addition, another adversity Chicano students faced is the limited
use of bilingual education (Valencia 9). In my own K 12 education, I saw ... Show more content on

The erasure of your bilingualism and biculturalism is something that should not be eradicated from
our brains, instead learning English should just be another tool added to our tool kit. In addition to
language/cultural exclusion, teacher student interaction is also something that needs to be improved.
As mentioned by Valencia, teachers tend to treat different types of students different (26). Teachers
tend to hold lower expectations for Chicanos, due to the stereotypical notion that Chicano students are
less intelligent than white students. With that thought seeded within an instructor s mind, the system is
already flawed from the beginning. Certain individuals even believe that there are undesirable traits
attributed with your race (Valencia 26). With teacher s racist beliefs, they will only further perpetuate
the stereotype that Chicano students do not remotely compare to white students. A Chicano teacher
force is also needed. Role models are important in any child s life, white or Chicano. It is important to
note that Chicano students need role models that look like them, so they can picture themselves in the

Example Of Observational Learning
The topic that I chose for this week is observational learning. Observational learning is learning by
others and imitating their behavior (Griggs, 2009, p. xx). Observational learning can help us when we
want to learn how to play sports, drive a car, or even learn to write letters. There are numerous things
we can acquire through observational learning. Many of us watched our mother and grandmother
bake, or even just cook when we were younger. We picked up many of the things that they did, this is
another example of observational learning.
We also learn attitudes and behaviors through observational learning. There are good models of
behavior. Models such as how to act appropriately in certain situations. On the other hand, there are
bad models. Those little negative traits, and habits we pick up from watching others. Often times we
hear people say: He/she did not have proper home training. This comes from ... Show more content on

If you have ever made a face at an infant and watched them try to imitate it, this is the observational
process at work. The same with a toddler who sees his parents folding laundry. Later the child will
grab some clothes and pretend to be folding them. A young boy watches another boy on the
playground get in trouble for hitting another child. He learns from observing this interaction that he
should not hit others (Cherry, 2016).
There are several factors that influence observational learning. They are attention: The person must
have their focus directed at the model. Retention: The observer must be able to code, and store
patterns so the data can be retrieved. Motor reproduction: Kinesthetic and neuromuscular patterns are
practiced with successive iterations until the model s behavior is approximated by the observer (
Albert Bandura Observational Learning, 2016). Lastly reinforcement and incentives: These send the
learner in the direction of wanting to pay attention, retain, and recall the action in

Essay on Walt Whitman
Walt Whitman
In parting with traditional poetic formalities, Walt Whitman alleviated a burden that impeded his
ability to achieve full poetic expression. To Whitman, the strict boundaries that formal meter,
structure, and rhyme imposed set limits on his stylistic freedom. This is not to say that these limits
prevented Whitman from conveying his themes. Rather, they presented a contradiction to which
Whitman refused to conform. In Whitman s eyes, to meet these formal guidelines one would also have
to sacrifice the ability to express qualities and passion of living men. Thus, Whitman contested
traditional poetic protocol because it added a layer of superficiality that concerned itself with creating
perfect rhythmical, metrical, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This meant that stanzas consisted of a predetermined amount of lines or that the poem had a
predetermined amount of stanzas. Augmenting this formal structure were predetermined rhyme
schemes (such as abab cdcd efef gg in Shakespearean sonnets). Based on the above, we can describe
traditional poetic etiquette as adhering to the suggested formal patterns predetermined by the tradition
of British poetry. Just in reaching the above conclusion, a problem arises that all poets, not just
Whitman, face when trying to conform to this style. This problem is that all of these rules are
cumbersome. It is difficult for a poet to convey the theme of a poem when he or she is concerned with
whether or not each word fits into a designated formal pattern. Yet, some would argue that this is what
makes poetry such an elegant art form. Surely, Whitman recognized the genius found in Shakespeare s
sonnets and other constitutive examples of traditional British poetry. However, whether or not
Whitman recognized the genius of great traditional British poets, is inconsequential. What did matter
was whether or not Whitman felt that this style was appropriate for him. The answer is no. Whitman
found problems not simply with the fact that clinging to the traditional style might be burdensome
(surely this would not have been an insurmountable task for Whitman), but his main issue with
traditional style concerned the ornamental effect of formal regularity:

The Two Main Hormone Drugs
What are the two main hormone drugs?
The two mainstream hormone drugs are progesterone and norgestrel. Progesterone and norgestrel are
drugs used to control the female hormones to aid in preventing pregnancy. Progesterone is a steroid
hormone released by the corpus luteum, which is a hormone secreting structure that develops in an
ovary after an ovum has been discharged but degenerates after a few days unless pregnancy has
begun, that stimulates the uterus to prepare for pregnancy. Hormones are chemical messengers that are
secreted directly into the blood, which carries them to organs and tissues of the body to exert their
functions. Progesterone works by traveling in the blood to tissues where there are progesterone
receptors. Progesterone molecules attach to the receptors and commence their actions in the ... Show

There are many types of birth control including condoms, IUDs, birth control pills, vasectomy, etc.
Condoms are one of the most popular forms of birth control. They come in many shapes and sizes,
with and without lube. They slip over the penis to prevent pregnancy and lower the risk of STIs by
keeping sperm inside of the condom and not in your vagina. An IUD (intrauterine device) is a small t
shaped device that is inserted in your uterus by your doctor. It is plastic and wrapped in copper or
contains hormones. There is a plastic string tied to the of the IUD that hangs down from the cervix
into the vagina. You can check that the IUD is in place by feeling for this string. The string is also
used by your doctor to remove the IUD. There are two types of IUDs, hormonal and copper IUD. The
hormonal IUD prevents fertilization by damaging or killing the sperm and making the mucus in the
cervix big and gooey. It keeps the lining of the uterus from growing very thick. That makes the lining
a very poor place for a fertilized egg to implant and grown. The hormones in this IUD stops the

Reflection On Colors
I have been really focusing on colors for past 4 years, almost one fourth of my entire life. I believe
that each of different colors can change someone s life. It sounds unreal, almost. Well, there is
someone who got affected by colors. It s me. In fact, I was not always interested in colors until Eighth
Grade. I used to be a person who did not focus on colors in everyday life, just like most people do, but
now I care colors so much because of situations I have experienced.
Thankfully, everything in the world has a color, and it used for many different purposes. Human eyes
can see many different colors because they are very sensitive. For me, the color is something that
impacts and changes my state and thoughts. I love looking at colors because it supports the words I am
saying and gives me many different moods. I remember the times that I realized how much colors
impact on me.
When I was in eighth grade in South Korea, I got a chance to visit DMZ, or 38th parallel. DMZ stands
for the Demilitarized Zone, where it divides Korea into a half. While I was in DMZ, I felt like I was in
1970s. South Koreans lived in DMZ, but it was a lonesome place. When I came back to school, my
teacher wanted me to explain the difference between North Korea, DMZ, and South Korea, and I
could not find ways to explain. Suddenly, I thought of colors, only because they were simple. Then, I
immediately started to color the south side of Korea as Blue, North as Red , and DMZ as Light Purple.
I said that Red indicates the communism and blood. Blue as a peace, and Purple as a confusion.
Everyone can guess Red as something about violence, and Blue is something about peace. However,
people don t know what Purple describes because it can be anything. Purple is certainly the mixture of
Red and Blue, but people don t go deeper. I said light Purple because DMZ was a very clean place.
The word confusion came to my mind, because I was confused if I saw DMZ as more of South side or
North side, and I used it to explain the meaning of colors to my teacher. It was a total success! That s
how I started to use them to support my opinion. (I use color to to give a detail often)

The Effects Of Modified Early Warning Score
Most adverse events often are preceded by early warning signs indicating clinical deterioration. The
modified early warning score (MEWS) is a patient acuity scoring system that was developed to assist
clinical nurses with identifying clinical deterioration in a patient and when to initiate a rapid response
team call (Stewart et al., 2014). According to Rose et al., (2015) research suggests that before a
catastrophic event, signs and symptoms of clinical deterioration can be detected as early as 6 8hrs
prior to the event. In an effort to identify the subtle changes in a patient s condition, MEWS scoring is
being adopted by most hospitals. To help with the early recognition of clinical decline, members of the
multidisciplinary teams in acute care and emergency rooms track and score the physiologic parameters
such as blood pressure, respiratory rate, heart rate, temperature and neurological status (Urban et al.,
2015). The MEWS assigns a number between 0 and 3 to the five physiological categories obtained
from the patient based on MEWS score card. Each item on the score card has a weighted value and a
score of 0 as the ideal score. If one of the values falls into an abnormal range, it is given a score
depending on the deviation from the patient s norm (Urban et al., 2015). Individual scores from all
parameters are added up to give the total MEWS score. The higher the MEWS score the more unstable
a patient is. Several research studies indicate that the use of MEWS has aided in

Molarity Of Sucrose Lab Report
After we completed our experiment, we used the equation, Y= iCRT, where i was the ionization
constant (1), C was molarity (.2, .4, .6, .8, 1), R was the pressure constant (.0831), and T was the
temperature of the room in Kelvin (294 degrees). The hotter the temperature of the room, the faster the
experiment will go. In the experiment, when the molarity of sucrose was at .4M, the molar
concentration of sucrose had a water potential that was equal to the potato tissue water potential,
meaning that the potato cell has reached equilibrium. The initial and final mass of the potato at .4M
was .3g, so there was no change in mass. When the molarity was .2M, there was a 10% change in
mass. When the molarity was .6M, there was a 10% change in mass.

The Life Of Marie De Medici s The Queen Of France
The art movement was on the rise during the advent of the seventeenth century, as it was a time when
the baroque movement, which was distinguished by exaggerated dynamism and clear detail,
flourished. Art during this period aimed to embody clear detail to represent the drama and grandeur.
Rulers such as Marie de Medici sought to captivate on this new art movement by using it as a way to
promote the power they had and the legitimacy of their reign. Marie commissioned the renowned
Peter Paul Rubens to paint a series of twenty four paintings in order to vindicate her triumph as the
queen of France. Rubens did just that, as he re envisioned the entire style propaganda through art
during the period, using the paintings as a way to allegorize ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The paintings would ultimately be hung in the Gallery of the Luxemburg palace, which would serve as
a sitting room for any courtiers who visited the palace.3 The placement of the art piece is relevant to
the implementation of the propaganda, due to the fact that its placement skillfully served to exemplify
the hyperbolic image of Marie to every person who sought an audience with the king or the queen
mother, thus extending the projection of the propagandist themes to a larger base audience. In order to
meet the lofty expectations of the queen mother Rubens worked to develop a message in the Medici
Cycle that would be embody a sense of vero senso or real meaning , thus acknowledging the existence
of false or counterfeit one, and seeking to correct it through The Medici Cycle.4 Rubens sought to
divert the attention away from the scandal and turmoil that surrounded Marie s life, and instead focus
on the triumphs brought about by it. However, Rubens realized the controversy that could arise should
he extol Marie s ability to govern France without suggestion she was a dangerously aggressive woman
intent on seeking power; it was clear to him that the commissioning of the cycle had the potential to be
viewed as a blatantly hostile attack on Louis reign. Thus Rubens presented his

A Short Note On The De La Literatura

How Does James Bonds Affect Society
Is James Bond the last regular Super Man in the movie industry, or has he always been a redundant
sexual monster and explosion seeker? Throughout the years, the portrayal of James Bond films has
had a positive, yet harmful effect on society. These effects include the way men live through him, the
idea that he s a perfect representation of the cultivation theory, and how he is the magic touch to get
with any woman he wants. James Bond has proved to be a powerful image in the eyes of many. His
masculine approach to every obstacle in his way dropped the jaw of everyone watching. From the
early days of the witty Sean Connery, to the latest Bond Daniel Craig, the films have proved to be
constantly outstanding. Yet, from all the publicity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To begin with, as this may be a surprise, not all men live through James Bond. The idea of constantly
having to fight trained militia, going from explosion to collision, and leaving almost every woman he
meets just doesn t sit right with some men. Even if it s only for two hours, the average length of a
Bond film, the idea isn t for some men. Too add, Bond s character s attitude has changed throughout
the years, as well as the gender norms of men. With the Gay Right movement making a lot of head
way, gender norms aren t as set in stone as they used to be. Even with the media still promoting the
old Bond, he just doesn t have the same wow factor as in the past. Finally, the idea that Bond gets
every girl is slowly dying. Bond s interest in sex suggests a humanity and vulnerability that endangers
him. (Garland, pg. 3) Yes, he still has the amazing body and the sly comments that many women love,
but in recent movies he hasn t had a Pussy Galore or Honey Rider all over him. Also, mot all men are
into the one and done aspect of love anymore. They want something real with a woman and James

Living On The Streets Or Begging For Food
After the economic downturn from 2007 2009, homelessness has grown dramatically. Without having
a job, people cannot support their families or even themselves. The only other option for some jobless
people is living on the streets or begging for food. People classify homeless people as scary or losers,
but in reality, they are people looking for a life like everyone else. Homeless people do not have
anywhere to go, so why should there be laws against living on the streets or begging for food?
Every human in the United States has rights, but during this time and age, our human rights are being
abused. In Birmingham, Alaska, a police officer stopped a minister after serving the homeless food
from his meal truck. According to an article by ABC, Minister Rick Wood said the police forced him
to leave the area because he did not have a permit from the health department (qtd. in Fisher). This
incident is not the only one that has happened. The act of giving or sharing food with the homeless is
banned and against the law. And as Minister Wood learned, police are standing by ready to enforce
these laws, since apparently they have nothing better to do than take food away from the homeless
(Fisher). This is absolutely wrong. A generous man willing to share his extra food with someone who
is starving and may be starving for awhile, should not be illegal. If the homeless people are not
begging violently for the food they need, then I do not see one problem with sharing food that will

To counter soldiering and to improve efficiency, Taylor began to conduct experiments to determine the
best level of performance for certain jobs, and what was necessary to achieve this performance.
Time Studies Taylor argued that even the most basic, mindless tasks could be planned in a way that
dramatically would increase productivity, and that scientific management of the work was more
effective than the initiative and incentive method of motivating workers. The initiative and incentive
method offered an incentive to increase productivity but placed the responsibility on the worker to
figure out how to do it. To scientifically determine the optimal way to perform a job, Taylor performed
experiments that he called time studies, (also known as time and motion studies). These studies were
characterized by the use of a stopwatch to time a worker s sequence of motions, with the goal of
determining the one best way to perform a job. The following are examples of some of the time and
motion studies that were performed by Taylor and others in the era of scientific management.
Pig Iron If workers were moving 12 1/2 tons of pig iron per day and they could be incentivized to try
to move 47 1/2 tons per day, left to their own wits they probably would become exhausted after a few
hours and fail to reach their goal. However, by first conducting

Mythology Research of Egyptian God Amun-Re Essay
Amun Re is often referred to as the most important and powerful god of Ancient Egypt. Amun Re was
the god of the sun. Amun Re is the main name of the sun god, but also has three different names in
which describe the phases of life that Amun Re goes through each day. (Budge, Pg. 92) When
examining the ancient Egyptian god Amun Re, four main points must be understood, including: the
origin of Amun Re, the characteristics of Amun Re, how Amun Re was worshiped, and how Amun Re
impacted Egyptian life. First, is the discussion of the origin of Amun Re. Re, is an ancient Egyptian
solar deity (also spelled Ra ). Re s association with the sun meant that he was understood to be an
important force in the creation of the world, and Re s daily ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The last role of Amun Re was Re as the creator. Egyptians believed that Re would weep and when he
did so his tears would then turn to men. Re is also seen to be the creator of the seasons, months, plants,
and animals. This falls back to the fact that Re is the sun, and the sun signifies life and growth,
allowing all things to grow through life. Second, I will be discussing the characteristics of Amun Re.
Re is depicted as a man with a hawk head and a headdress with a large sun disk. The sun disk on his
headdress is to reference his continuous power and control of the sun. The Egyptians were not
senseless; they did not think that a man or chariot raced across the sky dragging the sun to its resting
point.
Egyptians needed a way to understand the phenomenon of the sun due to their lack of scientific
knowledge. They tended to use animals to describe certain characteristics of a god. This was
especially the case with the ones they cannot see. Thebes celebrated a different major god Amun, the
Hidden One with powers so great he could not be visualized, yet because he had to be represented in
some way in order to pay him homage, he was depicted as a man with a tall ostrich plume crown.
(Brier, Pg. 36). Third, I will be discussing how Amun Re was worshiped in ancient Egypt. Amun Re is
seen in five ways, first, as a man, this is when he is seen on the throne as a king, holding a scepter in
one hand and the symbol of life in the other. In

The Theme Of Change In The Catcher In The Rye
The only constant in life, whether people like it or not, is change. Something in life is always
changing. Even within J.D. Salinger s book, The Catcher in the Rye, change is always happening
despite the main character s wishes. Salinger uses symbols to bring a deeper understanding of the
theme about change to the reader in a way no other figurative language could. There are a variety of
symbols throughout the book, such as the ducks, to assist J.D. Salinger display his message. Holden
Caulfield, the atypical protagonist of this bildungsroman story, gets the ax from the prestigious
Pencey. Traveling back to his home state of New York, Holden lives incognito so his parents cannot
find out he flunked out of another boarding school. While experiencing New York on his own, a
natural maturing process begins to happen. Dreaded by the idea of adjustments within his life, Holden
tries to stay in his youthful and innocent state. Realizing this transition to adulthood is inevitable, he
tries to figure out what he needs to do, but deep down wishes he could keep everything as it currently
is. Holden seems frustrated, even depressed, to find out that he cannot keep life constant with drastic
changes always happening. J.D. Salinger uses the significant symbol of the Museum of Natural
History, in his novel The Catcher in the Rye, to show that despite desires to keep everything the same,
change is bound to happen. The Museum of Natural History was constant. Holden mentions that every

Differences Between Early China And Qing Dynasty
Early China and the Qing Dynasty are not too different from each other. Which is surprising,
considering they Early China is at the beginning of recorded history for China and the Qing Dynasty is
the last dynasty to rule. Although, gender equality can be considered the same for both societies, they
are actually different since the Qing Dynasty started to change during the end of its reign. Both Early
China and the Qing Dynasty went through major changes in history. Early China is the beginning of
the dynasties, as we know it, so a bunch of new items and product were founded during this period.
The Qing Dynasty changed the education for women in China and also helped change the way people
treated women. Early China and the Qing Dynasty are far apart, in terms of years, and were so similar
yet so different at the same time. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the man in charge. The belief that a women always obeyed the man, and the man being superior to
women, lasted until the end of the last dynasty.
The Qing Dynasty was not too different from Early China. They did not like the modern ideas and
tried to stay away from them. The boys were still the only ones getting an education and women were
still looked down upon. The Qing Dynasty was closed off, they only taught their boys ancient texts

Did Daniel Francois Malan Contribute To Apartheid In South...
This investigation will explore the question: How did Dr. Daniel Francois Malan negatively contribute
to Apartheid in South Africa beginning in 1948? The focus of this investigation, is the making of the
National Party and Malan s role as a white supremacist in South Africa. The first source which will be
evaluated is Robert Schrire s book Malan to De Klerk , published in 1994 in New York, by St. Martin
s Press. The origin of this source is valuable because Schrire received a Bachelor degree in economics
from UCT, followed by his Masters from the School of International Service in Washington DC, and
his PHD from the University of California. Due to his extensive amounts of education regarding
foreign studies, like the information analyzed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the situation at first seemed easily comprehensive, but after further investigation, the actual
situation was far more complex. This shows how it is important for historians to search thoroughly
through documents to understand historical events. Unlike a mathematician or a scientist, being a
historian does not instill absolute truth or total understanding regarding an event. With historical
events, there are different interpretations and different viewpoints to be taken into consideration when
drawing conclusions. Sources have values and limitations, which are heavily analyzed before the
source itself is used. Likewise, historians have to find sources, which ideally line up with the truth.
When assessing limitations, if found that my sources seemed to agree with pointing to Malan for
having a large impact and have credible authors which made the limitations hard to find. I regarded
Schrire s novel Malan to De Klerk highly valuable, because it gave insight into the start of apartheid
specifically under Malan s rule who I investigated. Secondly, I considered the letter sent from Sisulu
to Malan valuable because it showed how the people were oppressed. This also demonstrated
contrasting views to Malan, and a firsthand account of an individual

  • 2. An Analysis Of Walt Disney s The Lucky Rabbit Shorts While many were shocked at the blatant racism displayed in The Song of the South, it is not the first piece of Disney animation to feature controversial material. Walt Disney s Oswald the Lucky Rabbit shorts had quite a bit of adult humor in it. In one short, Oswald gets chased by a bear into a cave where a fight takes place. Oswald comes out wearing a fur coat and the bear comes out wearing nothing but a bra and panties (Griffin, 2000). A closer look at Disney films may also indicate that Disney may have subtly used their films to speak out about political and religious issues. In certain films, there seems to be set values based off of Western Christian beliefs. The film Bambi is also thought to send a message about gun control ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Disney Company is an empire, branching off into many different aspects of our society. One of those aspects is vacation destinations, or more specifically, Disney s theme park. Eight out of eleven of Disney s parks are among the most visited vacation destinations in the world. When developing his parks, Walt Disney wanted people to feel as if they were placed right in the middle of their favorite story, a goal that has very much been obtained. From honeymoons to family vacations, Disney parks have an undeniable charm to them that keep the public coming back (Knight 2014). For the most part, these parks are a place to escape the hustle and bustle of the outside world. A place where adults and children alike can live in the magic for a little while, to be the main character in their favorite stories. To some, however, the parks are just a symbol of Disney s mass greed. In the book Team Rodent: How Disney Devours the World , the author tells us how ironic it is that people visit these parks as a way to escape the very world that Disney has created. One of the greatest ironies upon visiting Disney World is the wave of relief that overwhelms you upon entering the place relief to be free of the nerve shattering traffic and the endless ugly sprawl. These happy places are not protected from tragedy, however. A horrific accident occurred at one Who Framed Roger Rabbit themed ride, when a young boy by the name of Brandon was dragged beneath one of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Examples Of Social Identity In 12 Angry Men 3. Social identity (10 points): What role(s) does social identity play in the movie? Discuss SID in relationship of the jury to the accused. (Define your terms and give two examples of how they apply). Social identity is a theory which explains how people develop a sense of belong and membership to a group. Individual s social identity is part of their self concept which derives from their knowledge of their membership of a social group together with the emotional significance attached to that membership (Forsyth, 13). People are influenced on the group they belong to. Belonging to the in group makes a person feel good because they belong somewhere in this group and allows them to feel important. The out group is where people feel to be, they do not belong to a group and have feeling of exclusion and are often times treated more harshly than someone who belongs to the ingroup. This bias of favoring the ingroup relative to the outgroup leads to false impressions being made and stereotypes forming. Stereotypes help us navigate the world around us by providing a quick representation of what we think a person is like. This does not mean our perceptions are always correct and occasionally, this quick mental shortcut can get us into trouble. For example, the film 12 Angry Men stereotyping was rampant among the jury. When a stereotype is used it can cause a disruption of procedures. Instead, of inspecting all the evidence with an objective eye a bias can allow for systematic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Museum Report At Los Angeles County Museum Of Art Museum Report After visiting the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), I felt as if this was an entire new experience for me, seeing that this was my first time to visit a museum. Before entering the museum, I decided to analyze the front entrance of the Ahmanson building. What I observed is that the inventor of the building kept it simple and precise, which there were red metal bars that supported the front entrance. And there was a glass door incorporated into the entrance as well, this glass door would consist of information of what type of art is inside. For example, modern art, Islamic art, European art, and so on. As I went inside, I was welcomed with an enormous piece of art that encompassed several geometric shapes. Likewise, this art piece could be studied from multiple perspectives, from the first floor and second floor. As for the work of arts, most of the art was displayed on white walls, it should be noted that the walls were beginning to become dirty. One last thing about the interior of the building is that I appreciated the atmosphere, since there was sufficient space to observe the art from different viewpoints. That being said, I will now go on and discuss about the piece of art that spoke to me (not literally). The piece of art that spoke to me was called The Liberator, in 1947, created by Rene Magritte. Oil and canvas were the foundation that was utilized by Magritte, leading to the formation of his painting. One of the main reasons why this piece ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Jung And Freud As Unscientific Although many psychologists dismiss the theories of Jung and Freud as unscientific, they are very well known and highly influential. Why do you think this is? Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud are two of the most well known psychologists due to both their contributions to psychology that are still relevant today and also the controversial nature of their work. Many psychologists believed that their work was not scientific and therefore not useful in psychology. For example, Freud s theories are considered unfalsifiable because they cannot be proved or disproved, which is mainly due to the abstract concepts that cannot be measured objectively. There was a subjective nature to their work, which had little empirical evidence to support it. However, many of Freud and Jung s original theories and ideas are highly influential and have practical implications in the present day, despite their lack of a scientific approach. One of the main implications of Freud s work was the development of psychoanalysis, which was considered unscientific as any evidence supporting its success was based on self report data and not on scientific evidence. In addition, any evidence that did regard psychoanalysis as a successful treatment of mental illness did not suggest that it was any more successful than other treatments. Freud approached mental illness in a whole new way, considering the possibility that mental illness was not purely physiological but that mental illnesses had a psychological basis ... Once online and on the website in which the correct file was located, I had begun to search for the file again. About 5 seconds had passed and it mysteriously opened back up but this time on an unfamiliar webpage; 30 seconds passing again until I was back staring at the desktop for another 5 seconds. This process went on for around a minute before I had decided to restart the computer. Once the computer had restarted and everything was running as normal again, it was time to relaunch the browser and download the proper file. The browser launched with no problem at all and I was able to successfully navigate to the correct website once again and was able to begin searching. Once again, after so long of skimming the page for the file, the browser shut down without a notice and restarted, opening to the same unknown website as before. The next day my parents needed to use the computer and discovered the problem. Immediately they had known it was my fault and put me in charge of removing the virus. Without any clue as to how to remove malware from a computer, my first thought was to go to YouTube and search for a generic video of how to clean a computer of viruses. • 8. Premature Babies And Their Chances Of Survival Premature babies have existed since the beginning of time. The only difference between now and the past is that babies currently have more chances of survival. This paper will discuss a few components: the history of premature babies, impact of knowledge and technology and the nurses that take care of premature babies. We have the advancement in technology to thank for that. Today there are still some cases where the baby might be born and still be too underdeveloped and die even with technology. For example, I have a friend that had a baby a few months ago at nineteen weeks gestation and neither one of the baby s lungs were developed so she died. They told her that since she was so early that there was no way to save the baby even if they attempted to. The reason this subject means so much to me is because I also had a premature baby. My son came at twenty seven weeks gestation and stayed in the hospital for eleven weeks. Although he came early he survived and I am forever grateful for that. Technology and Vanderbilt played a big part in that. Premature care was very rare but is now standard. History of the NICU World It is known that you might not be able to control or prevent preterm birth therefore improving the infant s health and quality of life is the goal. The knowledge and technology was not available to keep the babies alive. Once a child is born premature they are placed in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. In the early 20th century premature birth was the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Film Coatings Banerjee et al. [18] observed that the sprayed liquid droplet tends to flatten out into a disk on impact with substrate surface and the geometry of the disk depends mainly on the momentum and volume of the droplet and also on the substrate temperature. The thin film formation is a resultant of the following processes: i) spreading of the sprayed droplets on the surface of the hot substrate into disks ii) pyrolytic reaction between the decomposed reactants iii) evaporation of the solvent iv) repetition of the proceeding processes with succeeding droplets. The process parameters such as concentration of the precursor solution, type of solvent, doping material, spray nozzle geometry, flow rate of carrier gas and solution, velocities of sprayed droplets, nature and temperature of the substrate, kinetics and thermodynamics of the pyrolytic reaction mainly determine the properties of the spray deposited films. 3.4.2. Advantages of spray pyrolysis technique over other techniques Spray pyrolysis is one of the simple and cost effective techniques suitable for commercial and mass production of thin film coatings [19]. • 10. Advantages Of Agent Based Simulation 1. Introduction Since the development of economics as a science, the majority of economists have used analytical models to explain economics hugely based on mathematical principles. Starting from the basic theorem of equilibrium which is very easily developed using mathematical principles only, to the optimization techniques, which involves plain usage of derivatives and other mathematical principles, these techniques lack to make a whole model with many unknowns in order to derive to a complex set of results, in contrary to only one result working in certain assumptions that they offer. Even though most of the theorems we use today in economics derive from analytical methods, the need to make decisions or solve real economical issues nowadays ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Agent Based Modeling and Simulation One could simply ask, why use ABM or ACE? As mentioned in the section above, there are several reasons why using ABM has a sort of competitive advantages toward other analytical or statistical based methods. In ACE, the possibility to include a large number of agents in the model, all in distributed corporation, provides creating of a large scale system in order to observe micro or macro principles. This is quite hard and tedious to be accomplished even using econometric principles with the help of software program, due to the problem of biased results and limitation on the dependent variables. In the context of ACE, several experiments can be conducted with unlimited number of agents involved in the system. Secondly, ACE can be considered as a great software for any business who would like to make decision making more strategic based, and furthermore, increase its competitive advantage in the market, by simulation the same conditions of the actual current market, to a virtual world in a simple software. Thereby usage of ACE is not restricted to only research based works, but can be used as a competitive tool for any business as well. • 11. Biochemistry 208.5.5 Desiree Schmitt 208.5.5 In humans/animals, the main cells that store fat for energy are adipocytes. These fat cells are found under the skin, in the abdominal cavity and surround major organs. The fatty tissue is the body s main means of storing energy for long periods of time. Lipids, like triglycerides are stored in the adipocytes until ready to be used by the body for energy. Fat is broken down through metabolism in the mitochondria of the cell. The triglycerides are broken down into glycerol and 3 fatty acids. The glycerol can be easily converted to glyceraldehyde 3 phosphate, an intermediate of glycolysis. From there it can go through the Krebs Cycle and electron transport chain to make ATP. The 3 fatty acids can be broken ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Every cell membrane incorporates a fluid mosaic model. The mosaic of protein molecules embedded in a lipid bilayer. It s fluid as most proteins and lipid molecules drift through it. The membrane consists of a phospholipid bilayer embedded with various proteins. The proteins help to get polar/hydrophilic molecules through the plasma membrane. Polar molecules have difficulty passing thru the hydrophilic membrane. Nonpolar molecules however, easily pass thru. The proteins can be integral proteins, meaning they go all the way through the lipid bilayer or peripheral proteins that sit on the hydrophilic outer layer and wait for something to happen. The layers are somewhat fluid, allowing the proteins to move across them. See diagram below. No fat diets can actually do more harm than good. The body needs moderation of all energy producing macronutrients; fats, carbohydrates and proteins. By not eating any fat, the body starts to utilize the fats stored in the body, thus depleting the stores and people lose weight. However, once those stores are gone, the good fats or HDL s, are no longer able to filter out the bad cholesterol. This can lead to increased cholesterol levels in the blood and heart disease. A no fat diet also causes poor vitamin absorption of the necessary fat soluble vitamins A, D, E and K. Fats transport those vitamins from the liver to various parts of the body. Sanders, J. ... Here s the catch, these party companies are making money off of you when your phone is in use, without your realization. These exploits are happening as the days go by, and no one seems to shine light on this subject. The main issue here is big companies, such as Google, are giving people free apps to download and making money. Everglades Restoration Considering spatial variability of public s preference for the Everglades restoration Everglades, the largest subtropical wetland of North America, has encountered anthropogenic perturbation since the last quarter of 19th century when canals were built and peatlands were drained for economic gain (Godfrey and Catton, 2011). Since then, the system has been exploited, drained, polluted and changed from its natural setup to escalate and widen the potential services from it. The present state is a highly regulated system to buttress economic productivity and fulfill several regional demands. The Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan, one of the world s largest restoration initiative, aims to restore, protect and preserve the water resources of central and southern Florida (National Research Council, 2014). While the restoration program is built on a foundation of retrospective science backed by several years of sophisticated research on understanding the Everglades and similar ecosystem (Estenoz and Bush, 2015), the human dimension of restoration was not studied adequately(Clarke and Dalrymple, 2003; Kranzer, 2002; National Research Council, 2014). Particularly, the spatial extent of residents preference or the heterogeneity of their opinion is important for CERP as the plan aims to restore ecosystem without compromising the present services (e.g. flood control, water for agricultural, urban and industrial uses etc.), which are also spatially related. • 15. Sacred Space Introduction: What is a Sacred Space? To examine each of the key words in the title individually would be quite a large undertaking. The idea of sacredness applies to many religions in various ways, be it religious rituals or the presence of God. Even the idea of space is complicated and controversial when many religions lay claim to one place. So these two terms, when put together, can therefore have different interpretations on many levels. There is, first, the idea of the sacred space known worldwide; these are usually referred to as sites of pilgrimage, visited by adherents of that particular religion. On a smaller lever, there is the idea of a sacred space that is attended locally, be it a temple, church, synagogue, or mosque. And ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Every religion has had at least one schism or split that separated it into different sects. Therefore one cannot claim to just analyze Judaism, for example; in reality one must then analyze each individual sect and offshoot of Judaism. Again, an essay of that detail and scope would be difficult so it comes down to the process of selecting the proper sect to analyze. In my opinion, there are two important aspects to consider. One, what sect is the most traditional? Which sect dates as far back to the original religion as possible, and therefore has undergone the least change? The second factor to consider is popularity among adherents. One cannot focus on a sect of a religion that only applies to a tiny minority of those who claim to be adherents of the broad religion; the analysis isn t relevant in that case. Thus it becomes necessary to examine each religion Judaism, Christianity, and Islam and determine which sect is the best to investigate for the answer to the question: What is the perception of a sacred space in different religions? In Judaism there are four main sects: Reconstructionist, Reform, Conservative, and Orthodox ( Intermarriage ). It is evident just from the title of the sect that Reform and Reconstructionist Judaism are not the most traditional. Therefore it comes down to Orthodox and Conservative. Chicano School Failure Essay The worst three plights that are discussed in Valencia s Chicano School Failure and Success are language/cultural exclusion, teacher student interaction, and Chicano teaching force. Valencia discusses how Chicano students have experienced persistent and persuasive language suppression and cultural exclusion in the public school system (8). These laws and policies were instated, with one purpose, to ensure the dominance of the English language and Anglo culture (Valencia 8). As mentioned by Valencia, teachers tend to treat different types of students different (26). Teachers tend to hold lower expectations for Chicanos, due to the stereotypical notion that Chicano students are less intelligent than white students. With that thought seeded within an instructor s mind, the system is already flawed from the beginning. Certain individuals even believe that there are undesirable traits attributed with your race (Valencia 26). Many of us watched our mother and grandmother bake, or even just cook when we were younger. We picked up many of the things that they did, this is another example of observational learning. We also learn attitudes and behaviors through observational learning. There are good models of behavior. Models such as how to act appropriately in certain situations. To Whitman, the strict boundaries that formal meter, structure, and rhyme imposed set limits on his stylistic freedom. This is not to say that these limits prevented Whitman from conveying his themes. Rather, they presented a contradiction to which Whitman refused to conform. In Whitman s eyes, to meet these formal guidelines one would also have to sacrifice the ability to express qualities and passion of living men. Thus, Whitman contested traditional poetic protocol because it added a layer of superficiality that concerned itself with creating perfect rhythmical, metrical, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This meant that stanzas consisted of a predetermined amount of lines or that the poem had a predetermined amount of stanzas. Augmenting this formal structure were predetermined rhyme schemes (such as abab cdcd efef gg in Shakespearean sonnets). Based on the above, we can describe traditional poetic etiquette as adhering to the suggested formal patterns predetermined by the tradition of British poetry. Just in reaching the above conclusion, a problem arises that all poets, not just Whitman, face when trying to conform to this style. This problem is that all of these rules are cumbersome. It is difficult for a poet to convey the theme of a poem when he or she is concerned with whether or not each word fits into a designated formal pattern. Yet, some would argue that this is what makes poetry such an elegant art form. Surely, Whitman recognized the genius found in Shakespeare s sonnets and other constitutive examples of traditional British poetry. However, whether or not Whitman recognized the genius of great traditional British poets, is inconsequential. What did matter was whether or not Whitman felt that this style was appropriate for him. It sounds unreal, almost. Well, there is someone who got affected by colors. It s me. In fact, I was not always interested in colors until Eighth Grade. I used to be a person who did not focus on colors in everyday life, just like most people do, but now I care colors so much because of situations I have experienced. Thankfully, everything in the world has a color, and it used for many different purposes. Human eyes can see many different colors because they are very sensitive. For me, the color is something that impacts and changes my state and thoughts. I love looking at colors because it supports the words I am saying and gives me many different moods. I remember the times that I realized how much colors impact on me. When I was in eighth grade in South Korea, I got a chance to visit DMZ, or 38th parallel. DMZ stands for the Demilitarized Zone, where it divides Korea into a half. While I was in DMZ, I felt like I was in 1970s. South Koreans lived in DMZ, but it was a lonesome place. When I came back to school, my teacher wanted me to explain the difference between North Korea, DMZ, and South Korea, and I could not find ways to explain. Suddenly, I thought of colors, only because they were simple. Then, I immediately started to color the south side of Korea as Blue, North as Red , and DMZ as Light Purple. I said that Red indicates the communism and blood. Blue as a peace, and Purple as a confusion. Everyone can guess Red as something about violence, and Blue is something about peace. However, people don t know what Purple describes because it can be anything. Purple is certainly the mixture of Red and Blue, but people don t go deeper. I said light Purple because DMZ was a very clean place. The word confusion came to my mind, because I was confused if I saw DMZ as more of South side or North side, and I used it to explain the meaning of colors to my teacher. It was a total success! The modified early warning score (MEWS) is a patient acuity scoring system that was developed to assist clinical nurses with identifying clinical deterioration in a patient and when to initiate a rapid response team call (Stewart et al., 2014). According to Rose et al., (2015) research suggests that before a catastrophic event, signs and symptoms of clinical deterioration can be detected as early as 6 8hrs prior to the event. In an effort to identify the subtle changes in a patient s condition, MEWS scoring is being adopted by most hospitals. To help with the early recognition of clinical decline, members of the multidisciplinary teams in acute care and emergency rooms track and score the physiologic parameters such as blood pressure, respiratory rate, heart rate, temperature and neurological status (Urban et al., 2015). The MEWS assigns a number between 0 and 3 to the five physiological categories obtained from the patient based on MEWS score card. Each item on the score card has a weighted value and a score of 0 as the ideal score. If one of the values falls into an abnormal range, it is given a score depending on the deviation from the patient s norm (Urban et al., 2015). Individual scores from all parameters are added up to give the total MEWS score. The higher the MEWS score the more unstable a patient is. Homeless people do not have anywhere to go, so why should there be laws against living on the streets or begging for food? The last role of Amun Re was Re as the creator. Egyptians believed that Re would weep and when he did so his tears would then turn to men. Re is also seen to be the creator of the seasons, months, plants, and animals. This falls back to the fact that Re is the sun, and the sun signifies life and growth, allowing all things to grow through life. Second, I will be discussing the characteristics of Amun Re. Re is depicted as a man with a hawk head and a headdress with a large sun disk. The sun disk on his headdress is to reference his continuous power and control of the sun. The Egyptians were not senseless; they did not think that a man or chariot raced across the sky dragging the sun to its resting point. Egyptians needed a way to understand the phenomenon of the sun due to their lack of scientific knowledge. They tended to use animals to describe certain characteristics of a god. This was especially the case with the ones they cannot see. The first source which will be evaluated is Robert Schrire s book Malan to De Klerk , published in 1994 in New York, by St. Martin s Press. Secondly, I considered the letter sent from Sisulu to Malan valuable because it showed how the people were oppressed. This also demonstrated contrasting views to Malan, and a firsthand account of an individual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
