Ad Analysis Essay 11
Ad Analysis
To commit ourselves to evaluating the old vs. new we have to first find examples of the two. What I
chose to compare and contrast are ads that focus on capturing a particular audience, that audience
would be the athletes on the hardwood. Pony has long been in the running for shoe corporations and
has, as long as I can remember, made a decent focus on comfort ability and style amongst the ball
players. Just Do It has never failed to get in the minds of every and anyone willing to lay on the line
their sweat and grit in order to better their abilities in their particular sport or life. The products inspire
those to just do what they need in order to get where they want to go. Nike can easily claim itself the
top producer of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Its quick in its delivery but effective enough to persuade the eye to look at the shoe. There are colors
that match the uniform worn by the player with the personalized shoe. In this instance Jason
Richardson, who plays for the Charlotte Bobcats, is the culprit that makes his mark on the feet of
those who will purchase the shoe. The ad itself doesn t play on any specific meaning. There is a
picture of the shoe with Jason Richardson around the life size shoes and words in color that read, Can
You Dig It. The shoe itself is quite unique in design, it s a new shoe that appears to be rather
comfortable and trendsetting in one. The ad doesn t use gimmicks to push its products, again that goes
back to the reputation Nike has, it simply displays its shoe and you either like it or you don t. Not as
persuasive as previous advertisements Nike has made the public accustomed to.
In my theology of the comparisons, I found that Nike has forever been and will continue to be the bar
at which everyone will strive for. They push the limits of interests in people and find ways to appeal to
the ever changing generations. The ad although rather plain in appearance is still new and does exactly
what it needed to in order to showcase the product based off of what Nike has done in the past and
what they plan doing in the near future. Pony, in my opinion, is the victor here. They have a solid
punch line in what they were trying to stress. They emphasized

Raisin In The Sun Disadvantages
In the 1950 s, discrimination toward African Americans, women, and people of a lower social status
controlled society. As a person living with all three qualities, opportunities did not come easily.
However, with hard work and determination, Lorraine Hansberry defies the odds and becomes a
successful writer of plays that encompass concerns ranging from civil rights to religion. In A Raisin in
the Sun and To Be Young, Gifted and Black, Lorraine Hansberry emphasizes the necessity of
improvement as an individual and as a nation. Civil rights and equality contribute to a life of
prosperity in which efforts of mankind remain unaffected by race, gender, or social class. Despite
living in the 1950 s as a Black woman with numerous social disadvantages, ... Show more content on

Lorraine Hansberry writes her characters as having their own beliefs. Mama strongly believes in a
God, but Hansberry illustrates Beneatha as an atheist. Holding a traditional view on the world, Mama
reacts abruptly when Beneatha expresses her opinion. After Beneatha uses the Lord s name in vain,
Mama yells, I just ain t going to have you round here reciting the scriptures in vain you hear me?
(Hansberry, A Raisin in the Sun 46). Mama understands she cannot convince Beneatha into having the
same beliefs, so she simply demands Beneatha to respect her beliefs. In many ways, Lorraine
Hansberry reflects Beneatha s views and beliefs. Like Beneatha, Lorraine Hansberry was an atheist;
however, her mother believed in a God. Also, Hansberry relates to Mama because she, also, desires
people to respect her opinions and beliefs. Gerald Weales expresses his ideas on A Raisin in the Sun
by stating that Miss Hansberry has come close as possible to what she intended a play about negroes
which is not simply a negro play (528). Not only does the play emphasize Black rights, but it also
highlights the importance of individualism. In her works, Hansberry demonstrates acceptance toward
other religions. She welcomes other views and radiates love through her words. In To Be Young,
Gifted and Black, Lorraine Hansberry concludes, I wish to live because life has within it that which is
good, that which is beautiful and that which is love (100). Although society demands conformity,
Hansberry believes that individuality creates a beautiful world. Individualism includes believing in

Grocery Shopping Satire

Annoying Shoppers
Grocery shopping can be a very interesting experience. It seems like nothing more than a quick and
easy chore at first. You go in, throw whatever you want into your cart, pay and then get out. Its almost
relaxing, that is if the grocery store is completely empty. Unfortunately, there are always those other
shoppers. The ones who think they own the place or something. They re in just about every grocery
store in America. You know who I m talking about, that one parent usually a mom with a kid who just
so happens to be screaming bloody murder. Also, everyone knows a bad cart driver when they see one,
not to mention the label readers. And finally, probably the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So, after carefully scanning each regular check out line, you finally spot the one with what seems like
the shortest line and casually stroll over there to wait your turn. What you didn t see, was that the lady
you decided to stand behind had the entire store in her cart! Little did you know that she was the worst
shopper of them all the Couponer. This is the bargain shopper who s annoying actions are broken
down into three steps. First, this shopper will decide to pack her cart so full that the pile of groceries in
her cart is taller than she is! Inevitably, creating a longer waiting time for you. Next, she will stand
there, stare at the clerk s computer screen and argue about the 2 for 1 price for every item that doesn t
match up exactly the way she wants. Finally, after all her groceries are scanned, bagged and carted, the
couponer will then proceed to dig through her entire purse searching for every coupon she has ever
saved over the past year for that one shopping trip. As if she hasn t already wasted enough of everyone
s time. It is at this point of your experience when you realize that any hope of an efficient and speedy
shopping trip was just tossed out the window. With all of the annoying people that decide to go to the
grocery store, shopping can easily turn from a quick and easy chore into one of the most tedious
experiences of your life. I encourage you, as a shopper, to watch out for people like this the next time
you go

Information Assurance Guidelines For Commercial Buildings...
Introduction BuildingDNA, a start up company which provides online digital maps for both
commercial buildings and real estate companies, has coordinated with this group to examine the
current information systems and technology architecture and determine if it is able to sufficiently
support its business objective of producing and servicing 3,000 maps per month. This study is based
on the current information provided by BuildingDNA, wherein the hypothesis is that the current
structure of the organization is unable to meet this goal and should be revamped. Project Scope The
information assurance guidelines will address any system utilized by BuildingDNA that stores,

Although BuildingDNA is currently producing digital maps, their current information technology
architecture is unable to meet the 3000 maps per month goal. In order to be able to achieve this goal,
BuildingDNA most develop the capacity in order to minimize idle and unused resources, and meet
their contractual obligations in a timely manner. As identified by BuildingDNA executives, there are
four components to this challenge that must be addressed, which are the following: Paremeter izing
new contracts; identifying and acquiring capacity of skilled man hours; managing the fulfillment of
each contract to meet expectations; and analysis and evaluate production outcomes versus standards
for future contracts and the continuous improvement of the production process. Problem Causes The
root cause of the challenge addressed above, is the lack of resources. These resources can be thought
of as the proper Enterprise Resource Planning and Workforce Management software, qualified
personnel, and the creation and implementation of organizational policies, to include information
assurance, teleworking, and business operations. All of these resources share a common denominator,
which is funding. A well funded organization generally have the ability to implement specific software
and create qualified personnel in order to perform their operational assignments in timely and effective
manners. Funding also ensure the

Okefenokee Swamp is a wildlife preserve on the Florida Georgia border, 50 miles from the Atlantic
coast. The Okefenokee Swamp was designated a wilderness park in 1974 to protect the vast quantities
and diversity of species in this unique park. To explain the environment of the swamp the author uses
pathos and logos. In the first passage, to covay logos, the author used specific numbers like 25 mi
wide and 40 mi long The uses of specific number like this gives a scale for the sizes of the swamp.
Also using specific values like 175 species of birds and at least 40 species of mammals... this gives the
reader a scale on the diversity of the swamp helping the reader understand the environment. In the

Assessing the Performance of Compute Unified Device...
The academic paper at hand aimed at assessing the performance of Compute Unified Device
Architecture (CUDA) programming for machining simulation. It has three main dimensions,
introducing the machining simulation algorithm parallelization, discussing the main constraints related
to the use of the CUDA architecture proposing different solutions to the problem of parallelization
with CUDA. Authors have argued that the main purpose of machining simulations in Computer Aided
Manufacturing (CAM) software is to detect collisions between the tool and the part on the whole part
surface of manufactured goods. Such surfaces are employed to provide sealing or friction functions,
optical or aero dynamics properties. This task requires specific geometrical deviations to be executed
within a given manufacturing process. More specifically, reducing the cycle time of developing a
product will rely on how to simulate the evolution of geometrical deviations of surfaces throughout
the manufacturing process.
The literature reveals that there are many methods to perform machining simulations. For instance,
methods based on a partition of the space by lines, by voxels or by planes, methods based on meshes
... etc. However, simulations of the machined surfaces in CAM software are very limited, purely
geometric and don t include any characteristic of the actual process that may damage the surface
quality during machining. Furthermore, these simulations do not provide the required accuracy within

Frequency Distributions
Frequency Distributions In the United States, annual income would have a more normal distribution
than age at time of death. This is due to the fact that more people are in the middle when it comes to
their income distribution, but the majority is on the upper end of the spectrum when it comes to their
age at the time they die. There will always be people who are very poor and people who are very
wealthy, but the largest demographic group lies in between those two extremes, at the top of the curve.
For those who study people who are dying and/or people who have died based on their age ranges, the
majority of people live past middle age, which would be the top of the curve if one were to overlay
that curve onto the annual income chart. While there are some outliers and variances with any chart or
curve, it is still important to take a careful look at the way the curve is structured to get accurate
information (Bryc, 1995; Casella Berger, 2001). The average age for death in the US today is just
under 80 for women and just over 75 for men, so the curve based on age is going to be much different
(and much further to the right at the top of the curve) than a curve that is based on annual income
(Bryc, 1995). One of the ways a person or a business can get information to plot on a curve is to have
sampling done. Sampling is a process by which a business would collect data and use that data to
determine whether it wanted to market to or reach out to a particular subset of

The book is famous because it s the first English language literary look at the infamous Trujillo era in
the Dominican Republic. Rafael Trujillo was among the baddest of baddies, ruling the island nation
with an iron fist and a creepy arsenal of scare tactics, including rape, murder, and downright terror.
But Trujillo s name doesn t spring to mind for a lot of people listing off 20th century political Big

US s involvement in the Dominican Republic.
In the Novel The time of the Butterflies there were four sisters minerva, dede, maria teresa, and patria.

The Pros and Cons of Life in Communist East Germany in...
On the whole, does Goodbye, Lenin paint a positive or negative picture of life in communist East
Germany?
East Germany, its demise relayed through the mass media of recent history, has in popular
consciousness been posited as negative, a corrupt bulwark of the last dying days of Communism in
Eastern Europe, barren and silent. The other Germany to its West, its citizens free, was striding
confidently ahead into the millennium. Recent cinema has sought to examine re unification, the
Wolfgang Becker film Goodbye Lenin! (2003) a recent example of such an investigation into the past
through cinema. In this essay I will look at the film and the narrative techniques it uses, probing
whether it portrays the East German nation as positive or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Goodbye Lenin! (2003) appropriates the individual as bound to his environment, threaded, through
strong cultural codes, to his neighbour. Regardless of the system, communist or capitalist, and though
our goals may deviate, we are all pursuing happiness and comfort, the tools used to attain this products
of that society. That said, it is immediately legible whereabouts Becker wishes us to view the East
German state as wholly negative, and he does this through several key scenes.
At the film s opening, we learn of the first East German shot into space, surely an apotheosis of what a
state can achieve, its grasp extending to the stars. But behind the curtain of this vast achievement we
can see how it is brought about through the utter bending of citizens to the states will. Alex s mother
Christiane, who we first assume the innocent of the piece, is interrogated by the Stasi for her husband
has fled the country. We learn he was unable to live with a state he detested, the ordeal of the
interrogation so testing for Christiane it sends her into a coma. Her husband and the children?s father
absent, she finds a kinship with the state, now one of its most vociferous supporters. The absence of
the father is particularly imbued with purpose. Later, Becker seeks to equate the death of communism
with the return of the father for the two are so inextricably connected. Only when the German
Democratic Republic (GDR) is laid to rest can this dark chapter

that Over 40,000 people die by suicide each year in the United States; it is the 10th leading cause of
death overall. Knowing the warning signs can help you save a life. Some of the warning signs for
suicide are talking about wanting to die, withdrawing from family and friends, using alcohol or drugs
more often, and no hope for the future. There are more warning signs that you can look for but these
are the most obvious. Gordon stated that Suicidal thoughts or actions are a sign of extreme distress,
not a harmless bid for attention, and should not be ignored. Some people do not take the signs serious

Thesis About Appeasement
Appeasement is the policy of acceding to the demands of a potentially hostile nation in the hope of
maintaining peace. This is done by giving in to demands of a leader in order to satisfy their short term
goals and avoid conflict. It was a policy used by the leaders of France and Britain with Hitler in the
1930s because they hoped that if they showed understanding and gave Hitler what he asked for, there
would be no reason for fighting or war to break out. Some of the things followed for appeasement that
the Western Leaders did were, When Hitler reoccupied the Rhineland, France did nothing, France and
Britain did not oppose his rebuilding the German military. Britain, in fact, signed a treaty with
Germany allowing them to exceed Treaty of Versailles ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hitler realized that the French and British Leaders were scared of his power and also of war. Hitler
needed more living space for the German people and he thought of taking over Poland. Hitler began
planning the invasion of Poland. After World War I, Poland s army was relatively weak and ill
equipped compared to Germany. To aid in its defense, Poland had formed military alliances with Great
Britain and France. Massing their armies along the Polish border, the Germans staged a fake Polish
attack on August 31, 1939. Using this as a pretext for war, German forces flooded across the border
the next day. On September 3, Great Britain and France issued a warning to Germany to end the
fighting. When no reply was received, both nations declared war. Hitler invaded Czechoslovakia and
Poland before World War 2 but then from 1939 and June 1941 the German army invaded and occupied
many countries like Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg,France, Denmark,Yugoslavia, Greece,
Norway and Western Poland. In Source C (The cartoon from October 1938 by Low) shows a picture
of Hitler as Santa popping every European country into his sack which means Germany over all and

Analysis Of The Poem The Ode On Intimations Of...
Sometimes, art is a joke, or an explanation, or a song. Art can inspire, destroy, or create. Art can be
whatever you need it to be. Sometimes, you need a scream. A scream into a void telling it what you
think and feel all the while hoping for a scream back. That s what Ode on Intimations of Immortality
From Early Childhood by William Wordsworth is, Wordsworth s desperate attempt to scream into the
void the best he could. But, what is he trying to say?
The title is the first indication of the meaning of the poem. Since Wordsworth calls it an ode, he is
saying that the intimations of immortality from early childhood are what he will be addressing in this
poem. An intimation is the first indication or hint of something. So, the title is ... Show more content

He doesn t say what the thought was or what relived the thought, but it is interesting to note that from
the shepherd boy to the lamb to the bird all carry connotations of youth and vibrancy. As we see later
on, this connection between youth and nature goes much deeper. The joy felt throughout this stanza is
carried over into the fourth stanza where there is a such a vibrant celebration even the very earth is a
part of it. During this celebration, he says that it would be an evil day if he were upset right now. This
almost suggests that he is unhappy right now and is forcing himself to be happy. It guides the reader to
question this happiness and separate the narrator, and in turn themselves, from the scene laid out
before them. The distrust is only heightened when from the very trees and flowers themselves a
question is whispered. Where is that dream from before? Where did it go?
This is how the fourth stanza concludes as it lays the groundwork for the rest of the poem by tying
together the first four stanzas. These first four stanzas are used by Wordsworth to prepare the reader to
understand him. Throughout the first four stanzas, Wordsworth continually drives home the separation
between this man and the nature around him. From the inability to fully see nature in the first stanza or
the thought of grief from the third stanza, this separation is always there. It s never a negative thing.
Wordsworth doesn t imply

Tobacco and alcohol consumption has been linked to a variety of medical problems. In the United
States alone, over 440,000 people die annually from smoking tobacco (Tobacco Products.) By making
the cost of unhealthy behavior prohibitive, we hope to produce a healthier society. Sin tax is used for
taxes on activities that are considered socially undesirable. Common targets of sumptuary taxes are
alcohol and tobacco, and gambling. I believe that Drinking and smoking are not sins, but if the effects
of using them in excess have caused other Americans to pay more for medical care, I think we should
impose higher taxes on them as to discourage their use. In moderation, tobacco and alcohol have few
ill effects, but when overused they hurt ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Percentage wise, wine buyers would be affected the most, with a 233 percent tax increase per bottle.
The higher alcohol taxes would bring in nearly $60 billion over 10 years, and, like the increase in
price of cigarettes, could deter people from purchasing alcohol as often. (Promises Treatment
Centers.) It is uncommon to feel oppressed when one s surroundings does not protect his health
against unhealthy habits. Such a scenario is seen when people smoke in closed public areas which
results in health consequences for others. The same is observed with regards to alcohol where
incidences of physical harassment and accidents have been acknowledged. It is unethical and greedy
for one to think about himself and his rights, forgetting his duties towards others in the society. For
those who claim that this is a free country and people have the right to do whatever they want, the
government interferes and prohibits these actions when these actions negatively affects others. Raising
sin taxes on tobacco and alcohol will result in three different problems such as business s
disagreements and objections toward governmental taxation, unaffordability for the poor, and the
increase of the unemployment rate. Earlier in history year 1789, the taxes were imposed on whisky
producers rather than on people buying them. The federal government faced difficulties enforcing
such a rule. George Washington took notice of such a resistance to the whisky

Worldcom Essay
Business Environment and the Industry Industry Specific Challenges WorldCom was a supplier for
long distance phone services to many businesses and residents. It started out as a minor business
knows as Long Distance Discount Services (LDDS) that developed into the third biggest
telecommunications business in the United States dues to the managing of CEO Bernie Ebbers. There
were 85,000 workers at its highest with an existence in more than 65 countries. The loss of
MCI/WorldCom was the direct result of the behavior of WorldCom s senior managers. The
telecommunications industry merged further as Verizon acquired MCI/WorldCom and SBC
Communications acquired AT T Corporation. (Eichenwald, 2002) The wrinkle effect of WorldCom s
end goes far beyond one specific company and several senior managers. It had an intense effect on the
entire industry. In 2002 WorldCom confirmed their bankruptcy, and in April 2004, WorldCom came
out of bankruptcy and was known as MCI. Everyone worked hard to fix the financials and to
reorganize the company. The new CEO (Michael Capellas) and CFO (Robert Blakely) had to deal

Wireless Communications: wireless communications between the HUD and other devices, such as
mobile phones and rider to rider communication systems (and in the case of electric motorcycles, the
motorcycle itself) are essential to the basic functionality of the helmet, and also allow for virtually
unlimited expansion of the features of this product.
Market Analysis
The motorcycle industry is currently strong overall, with respect to both new bike sales and sales of
used and vintage machines. Regardless of what they ride, most motorcyclists wear helmets.
Demographic changes within the market (i.e. increasing numbers of tech savvy younger riders) and
increased application of advanced technologies in the motorcycle industry (e.g. advanced anti lock
braking systems, electronic throttle management, etc.),have set the stage for the launch of a
technologically advanced motorcycle helmet, such as the XYZ. A more detailed description of the
target segments is provided below.

The Indian Python
The Indian Python is an arboreal snake, commonly found slithering through the jungles, specifically
trees of the East Indies. Having the ability to grow to a length of about 20 feet, the Python Molurus is
no small predator, however, ironically, these massive creatures may not be so easy to be seen. As
snakes and reptiles are famous for being able to camouflage themselves, these Pythons are able to hide
in plain sight, and along with that are absolutely able to prey on creatures with ease. The Pythons
color patterns are along the lines of white and yellow with spotted patterns that range from certain tans
and grays to brown. These colors and patterns generally range and very from place to place depending
on where they live. Certain specimen from the of Western Ghats and Assam usually contain a darker
shade, while those living near the Deccan Plateau and East Coast typically contain lighter shades. The
Indian Python contains a very carnivorous diet which includes mammals, birds and reptiles arbitrarily,
but seem to favorite mammals. The Python moves so quickly slithering from head to tail and strike
with ready fangs. Most living prey is strangled by constriction and slain in that manner. It doesn t take
much of the Pythons strength in order to kill. The kill is usually unable to breathe, and at some point
submits to the snakes grip and is swallowed whole. Once a rather large meal is consumed, the snake is
rather not fond of moving, because if it is absolutely necessary to do

Paracetamol Lab Report
The first step in the extraction of paracetamol was to crush the tablets. If I didn t do this then it would
have been difficult to dissolve them. To weigh them, we had to make sure that we used the most
accurate scales as possible as accuracy could be an issue. The spirit level should be calibrated so that
we can rule out the issue of accuracy. Another problem we could have had in the practical was the
method of filtering. The filter paper could have been too small so the filtrate could have gotten over
the top of the funnel and then we would have had insoluble impurities. Also when doing this, we had
to be careful that none of the filtrate ran down the beaker or we would have lost some yield. The filter
paper could have been poor quality

Persuasive Speech For Girls Education
Imagine living in a world where 65 million girls do not have the basic education that they deserve.
Well, believe it or not, in 2003, that was our world (rferl.org). The good news is that more and more
people are joining in to help this problem. Our ex First Lady, Michelle Obama, British actress, Emma
Watson, and President of Chile, Michelle Bachelet, are all helping to change all of this. They all have
sacrificed their time and energy for girls education. Michelle Obama, has traveled all over Africa to
speak about education and has created a campaign called Let Girls Learn. Emma Watson, has recently
become a UN Women Goodwill ambassador. And Michelle Bachelet the executive director of the UN

Apical Periodontitis Essay
Apical periodontitis occurring after Root Canal Treatment presents a more complex etiologic
therapeutic situation than Primary Apical Periodontitis. There is a universal consensus that intra
radicular infection is an essential cause of primary as well as a major contributor of post treatment
apical periodontitis. Enterococcus faecalis is the most commonly implicated microorganism in
asymptomatic persistent infections1,2. E. faecalis is a normal inhabitant of the oral cavity. The
prevalence of E. faecalis is increased in oral rinse samples from patients receiving initial endodontic
treatment, that midway through treatment, and patients receiving endodontic retreatment when

A Comprehensive Analysis Of Davidson s Article,...
In Mark Davidson s article, Displacement, Space and Dwelling: Placing Gentrification Debate , he
cites several contemporary case studies where certain deteriorated areas have been targeted for
redevelopment and subsequent evictions have taken place. Using several philosophical authors, such
as Heidegger and Lefebvre, Davidson s focuses on the effect spatial metaphors have on displacement,
and how these concepts tie into the conceptualization of space. In this paper I will compile a thorough
summary of the article and formulate a comprehensive analysis of Davidson s arguments as well as his
sources. Davidson begins his article with arguably one of the most notable and recent subjects of
gentrification, 1520 Sedgwick, the birthplace of Hip Hop. This dilapidated apartment building s
owners announced they planned to leave New York State s Mitchell Lama programe (pg. 2), which
would result in the current residents evictions. Essentially the program offered tax incentives to
building owners who limit equity to maintain low cost units. However, in lieu of tax incentives many
building owners have elected to leave the program in order to make more profit via higher costing
units, which current residents cannot afford. In the case of 1520 Sedgwick current and former
residents, such as the credited father of Hip Hop Kool Herc, have veiled their mission to prevent the
gentrification process from consuming their building by petitioning for a historic listing as well as
offering to

Themes Of The Book Thief
The Book Thief is set in the time of World War 2 where the Holocaust is present and disaster is
everywhere. Throughout the story, Liesel, the main character, learns that words are extremely
powerful and hold the ability for people to use them for good or for evil. Among the disaster and
altercations, Liesel uses her literature to comfort her and make herself more powerful due to her
knowledge, which demonstrates the theme of the story, the comfort and power of literature and words
softens the pain of loss. Liesel, the book thief herself, steals books in times of pain. All six books
Liesel steals are metaphors for the feelings of loss and pain during the time of which the book was
stolen. She uses the books to grow knowledge of the situations occurring around her, one stolen book
in particular is The Gravedigger s Handbook This book is the first of all books Liesel steals, and it is
the book that caused her to grow to love words, coincidently, she finds this book in the snow on the
day of her brother s death, which is when she was filled with grief and abandonment. This book is a
symbol for Liesel s grief and as she tries to learn how to read the book, her twisted comfort in the
story shows how the words had a powerful effect on her grieving process shown by the quotation,

Throughout the years, animals have always been used in some way. Domesticated animals have been
used in many ways throughout history such as transportation or farming. Not every animal was treated
or used back in colonial times as they are today. Many people did not care if they worked their animal
to death or not. The background of these domesticated animals in Colonial America depended on the
job that the animal was doing, and how the owner decided to treat his/her animals. In Colonial

Cats entered the New World on the Mayflower. A new breed called the American Shorthair was
created. This tame cat would have been distinguishable from the wild cats by their color patterns, hair
length, and size. The tame cat could help hunt for birds and rodents because they are hardy, tough, and
athletic. It is also likely that the tame cat bred with the wild cats, so new breeds that had the
characteristics of the wild ones entered the domestic stock. Cats were not always liked though. There
were many superstitions about cats, which made people afraid of them. The cat became known as an
indispensable pet for all the genuine witches. The black cat also became known as one of the symbols
of Satan. These superstitions may have started because nightly, silent expeditions of feral cats, or their

Analysis Of Oath Of The Horatii
Oath of the Horatii is life size oil on canvas painting that is about thirteen feet wide by ten feet tall.
The painting was done by Jacques Louis David, who was the leading Neoclassical painter in France
during the eighteenth century. David rejected the Rococo style that was popular of that time, which
was characterized by fantasy and playfulness. David was interested in painting images with antiquity.
The Oath of the Horatii has elements of classical Greek and Roman art and architecture. Oath of the
Horatii was a political painting that David had comprised to stimulate the publics attention (Fred S.
Kleiner 680).
Oath of the Horatii captures a heroic and patriotic moment. Something big is happening in this
composition. There are three Horatii brothers taking an oath, which is being administered by their
father. The oath they are taking is to live or die for their country, which happens to be Rome. While
taking this oath, the Horatii brothers are facing their father. They stand in unison with one another.
They each have one leg and arm extending out. The father holds three swords up and out towards the
Horatii brothers in the same pose. The Horatii brothers extended arms are saluting towards the swords.
The postures of all four men appear upright and strong. There is no emotion of fear on their faces. The
brothers appear athletic and fit. This can be seen in the muscular details of their legs and arms. They
appear bold and ready to sacrifice their lives. The father does not

Department Of Finance And Accounting
Introduction Department of Finance and Accounting?s mission is to lead the Department of Defense in
finance accounting by ensuring the delivery of efficient, exceptional quality pay compensation service
and financial information (Defense Finance,2015). The way in which accounting technicians and
managers are compensated is an important aspect of the organization, for ensuring that payments will
be issued out to the vendors promptly. ?Education is an important driver of earnings, and state
government employees have higher average educational attainment than private sector workers?
(Biggs Richwine, 2014 p.6). The employees are a graded series five at step 1. The compensation pay
for a graded series 5 starts off annually is $32,000. With this level of pay can cause employees to be
less productive over time. A new compensation plan needs to be designed to address the inadequacy in
the accounts payable. In considering a new compensation structure for the DFAS accounts payable
payment plan, it will be vital to recognize the deficiencies of the contemporary fabric of the
compensation scheme. The problem of the current compensation plan in the accounts payable
department is the plan does not consider compensating employee pay based on their education.
Everyone who starts in a graded series five step 1 will be given at the same rate, even if the employee
has a college degree. In the private sector environment, education may play a significant factor in

The Impact Of Spanish Rule On Puerto Ricans Today
The Impact of Spanish Rule on Puerto Ricans Today
What was Puerto Rico like under Spanish rule, and how important is that rule to the formation of the
Puerto Rican people today? To answer these questions, we must take a look at the history of the
Spanish and their colonization of the island of Puerto Rico.
As we know, Puerto Rico was a colony of Spain found by Christopher Columbus on November 19,
1493, and remained a colony of Spain for the next 400 years. But the interesting fact remains that
Puerto Rico was not truly settled by the Spaniards until almost fifteen years later! In 1508, Juan Ponce
de Leon came to settle the land of Borinken, and founded the town of Caparra. This was the start of a
proud people that would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The few surviving Tainos took off to the mountains for survival. The first two important elements of
whom and what makes up Puerto Rican people, is here. The Taino Indians are 1/3 of the element. The
second element, were the Spaniards.
The Spanish now were the main people of the island, but there was only one problem now. There was
no more gold to be found (which was the original reason most of the Spaniards came), and Puerto
Rico had to be productive to Spain in some fashion.
Facing the fact that there was no more gold, the Spaniards looked to the rich land and soil for the next
way that Puerto Rico could help the Kingdom of Spain. They raised cattle, and they planted staple
crops, but sugarcane was the bread and butter so to speak. The only problem was that they could only
trade with Spain for a long time and Spain grew their own sugarcane, too. But let s not jump ahead of
ourselves here. What was needed was a labor force to work these fields, and the Taino Indians were
living in the Hinterlands. There was no way they were going to work those fields.
This brings us to the third main element that makes up the Puerto Rican people. This third main
element, were the African slaves that were brought in. In fact, the three main elements were all
together on the island of Puerto Rico in a relatively short time span. The proof of this is

July 26, 2015 OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens (BBP) Standard Revision and Needlestick Injuries
Did OSHA revision to the Bloodborne Pathogen (BBP) Standard that requires greater use of anti
needlestick technologies result in reductions of BBP incidents among healthcare workers?
The purpose of this paper is intended to provide a review of the above formulated topic and backed up
by research compiled through scholarly peer reviewed literature as well as supportive statistical from
entities such as: the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the National Institute for
Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), World Health Organization (WHO), and the Occupational

Bloodborne Pathogen Standards that may have contributed to the mitigation of injuries in healthcare
settings as they relate to occupational percutaneous injuries. Scholarly peer reviewed literature and
journals dating from 2002 to 2015 obtained from the University of West Florida library database were
used to validate the findings on the impact of needlestick injuries since the BBP revisions were

The Most Effective General Managers
From: Mr Xolani Xulu Master in Business Administration Student
A REPORT ON THE MOST EFFECTIVE GENERAL MANAGERS
1. Executive summary
According to Boyer and Associates (2010), a General Manager (GM) is not a job but a position . He
further states that a GM is a focal point and has the authority to impact immediately any area of a
business. This tells us that such a position must be occupied by someone that has relevant experience,
the right attitude and necessary skills to make a positive contribution.
It is therefore crucial to understand the characteristics to look for when employing a GM. In this
report, your attention will be drawn to the most relevant characteristics to be possessed by a GM.
2. Research ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
* The changing economic conditions of South Africa will soon require a GM to possess a postgraduate
qualification in order to cope. This can also be explored as an option from now going forward.
4. Possible shortfalls in general management
One of the shortfalls is that, not all the time that a GM using charismatic leadership style may be fully
effective. Boyer and Associates stated that charismatic leaders, ...are threatened by individuals who are
free thinkers and strive to develop their own skills .
Myres (2012) from Milpark Business School stated that, GMs who used to be experts in some
functions find it difficult to adjust to management. This could mean an organization is not being fully
managed when Managers are not managing.
If a GM has limited managerial experience, tasks are delegated without accountability. Things go
loose and later the organization operates at an average level. This links to the inability of identifying
potential and creativity that needs to be enhanced. Staff never finds satisfaction in these cases.
A GM that fails to take quick but informed decisions may delay business growth. However, some
decisions require that a GM consults with the person who supervises him/her.
Some GMs fear to take decisions or to raise professional advises as they may be fired for doing so.
Walton (2012) reported that Gary Webster was fired by his Toronto Transit Commission after

Water Quality Of The North And South Forks Of Strawberry...
Bioindicators of Strawberry Creek Edar Liu, Cindy Sandoval Espinoza, Ethan Schlatter, Weirui Xiao
October 9, 2016 Biology 1B, Section 224, Group 1 Abstract: Through our research we aimed to
determine if there were any differences in water quality of both the north and south forks of
Strawberry Creek. As time progresses and the environment changes it is important to keep track of
how certain species are being impacted by these features, and how they cope with change. We
hypothesized that due to the lack of pollution, the south fork will promote a greater diversity of
macroinvertebrates. This was due to the fact that there was less runoff and trash that could be
introduced to the water in the south fork, than there was in the north fork. We gathered data by
analyzing the different organisms living in both forks. We collected a total of fifty vials composed of
five organisms from each fork, and inspected them under microscopic view. After gathering data and
identifying the different kinds of organisms living in the different forks we assessed whether the
organisms from the samples could live in high or low resolution water. We also took a t test to assess
the probability of these differences being due to relevant factors or by chance. Our major findings
suggest that organisms in the south fork showed a higher demand to living in cleaner water indicating
that our hypothesis was correct. Introduction: Urbanization has a longstanding legacy of affecting

impact than the Greek and Roman empires. These empires began as small city states, and grew to

enemies, considering the Romans were greatly influenced by the Greek culture. The two civilizations
shared many similarities, but had different opinions on government operations. There are three
different periods that span the history of the Greek and Roman empires; the Hellenic, Hellenistic, and

The people flowed smoothly throughout the Hellenistic kingdoms mainly because they spoke and read

sudden change in government policy. People were actively involved the self governed democratic
government of the past. Now that citizens were once again living in impersonal empires ruled by
bureaucrats, they started to feel alienated. The Hellenistic art and literature expressed the feelings of
the citizens. They began to sculpt and paint actual people as opposed to the gods their culture was so
centered around. The citizens also began to join random religions that promised immortality and
individual wealth. Even Hellenistic philosophers focused their time on preaching about individual

Examples Of Romantic Love In Midsummer Night s Dream
Shakespeare celebrates romantic love but also satirizes it Phyllis Rackin claims that Shakespeare
celebrates romantic love but also satirizes it. In this essay, using the example of the comedy
Midsummer Night s Dream , we will try to argue that the writer uses the notion of love as a metaphor,
in order to explore certain topics concerning human feelings. This play was written in 1595 1596,

Usability And Technical Communication And Usability
In today s world, designing a website has become a piece of cake. With powerful designing tools that
are available online, anyone can design quality websites in a much shorter amount of time. But the
question to be asked is, How would a website designer know that his/her website would be user
friendly? Usability testing is the answer. By definition, usability testing is the evaluation of a product
or service by testing it on the user. Since the product is for the user, it is necessary that users are
involved during the process of creating a product or service. Today, usability testing is not only limited
to the field of information technology, but plays a major role in technical communication. In this
report, I will talk about usability ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The central principle of technical communication has always been user focus. Technical
communicators are usually comfortable dealing with users from both technical and non technical
backgrounds, since they gather information from the technical to communicate with the non technical.
Technical communicators possess good analytical skills and tend to be familiar with certain standards
that involve interface design principles and style guides (Gaffney 2004). Therefore, they possess skills
that are required by usability professionals.
Today, technical communicators are not only writers of user assistance and related documents, but
they also work as website designers, information architects, content specialists and marketing
communication specialists, to name a few of the sub fields within the field of technical
communication.
USABILITY TECHNIQUES IN TECHNICAL COMMUNICATION
Technical communicators can incorporate certain usability techniques that help them to ensure a great
user experience. These basic usability techniques are as follows:
 Perform usability test on the user documents:
Technical communicators mostly work offshore, and due to the lengthiness of the user guide, testing
the entire document is not feasible most of the time. Therefore, technical communicators can choose
some complicated procedures that are important from a user s perspective, and perform usability test
on these procedures either remotely or one on one with the actual users.

Chinese Parents and American Parents Essay
Chinese parents and American parents differ greatly in their parenting styles and a noticeable
difference can be seen in the success of their children. The children of Chinese parents often excel in
various areas, including in their educational, musical, and professional lives. The children of American
parents, however, usually have a harder time excelling in those areas. Chinese parents and American
parents hold opposing philosophies about how they view their children, opposing methods about how
they raise their children, and opposing effects on the personalities of their children.
Chinese parents feel that their children have a responsibility to obey them and pay them back for their
efforts in raising them. American parents, on the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I can see the positive and negative in both methods. The fundamental problem with all parents is
selfishness. When Western parents don t do enough to help their kids reach their potential, they are
selfish, and probably too busy doing what we feel like doing. And when Chinese parents force kids to
do what will bring the parents praise, they are selfish too. I think that the correct approach is a balance
between Chinese and Western parenting, with the focus being on commitment to your children. If
parent can find the balance between these two types then both sides will have succefull children. I
really believe Western parental method and Chinese parental method can both be used. You can t be
too soft and too hard. You have to balance it out.

Short Story John Clarke
Oh I m with Clarke on this one . They both turn their head at once, looking toward the door, startled
by the unexpected interruption. Anya is looking at them, trying to keep an emotionless expression
painted on her face while a smirk desperately tries to crack her lips open. Clarke releases Lexa s waist
and takes a step back, running her fingers through her locks just to do something with her hand. Both
girls blinking in complete embarrassment and Lexa has stopped her stirring while she looks at her
sister, hoping she will just stop mocking her. The blonde feels her cheeks burning at the temperature of
a nuclear fission. You where insufferable even as a child, always complaining if anyone dared not to
do what you were asking Anya concludes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She alternatively looks at her and her sister, blinking her eyes in complete disbelief. Non posso
crederci che l hai detto She eventually grunts at Anya who is chuckling, hands in the back pockets of
her dark jeans, one hip tilted to one side. /I can t believe you said that/ Anya shrugs and looking at
Clarke, who is still laughing, she frowns, snapping her tongue. Do you like the nickname Clarke? Yes,
oh gosh She answers, covering her mouth with an hand, trying to placate her laugh. Oh... Anya scoffs
with a worried expression and Lexa glares at her a warning glare, knowing she is about to say
something else. Her sister totally ignores the brunette and she concludes her attack with a candid
voice. Don t tell me you ll use that in bed now, please . Clarke literally chokes on air and her laugh
turns in a cough, muffled in her hand, her eyes wide. Lexa snorts out of frustration, turning her head to
look at her suffocating girlfriend. When the blonde manages to breathe again, even if her eyes remain
fixated on the floor, Lexa looks back at Anya. Her expression is as pitiful as the one of a beaten dog
and her voice almost a grave snarl. Quand è che riparti, Anya? /When are you leaving, Anya?/ Her

Topics For Nasa Research Papers
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration has a difficult task. It must convince U.S.
taxpayers that space science is worth $16.25 billion a year. To achieve this goal, the agency conducts
an extensive public relations effort that is similar to the marketing campaigns of America s biggest
corporations. NASA has learned a valuable lesson about marketing in the 21st century: to promote its
programs, it must provide entertaining visuals and stories with compelling human characters. For this
reason, NASA issues a steady stream of press releases and images from its human spaceflight
program.
Every launch of the space shuttle is a media event. NASA presents its astronauts as ready made
heroes, even when their accomplishments in space ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This knowledge could be used to plan a manned mission to Mars or the construction of a base on the
moon. But these justifications for the station are largely myths. Here are the facts, plain as potatoes:
The International Space Station is not a platform for cutting edge science. Unmanned probes can
explore Mars and other planets more cheaply and effectively than manned missions can. And a moon
colony would be a silly destiny.
[break] The Myth of Science
IN 1990 THE American Physical Society, an organization of 41,000 physicists, reviewed the
experiments then planned for the International Space Station. Many of the studies involved examining
materials and fluid mechanics in the station s microgravity environment. Other proposed experiments
focused on growing protein crystals and cell cultures on the station. The physical society concluded,
however, that these experiments would not provide enough useful scientific knowledge to justify
building the station. Thirteen other scientific organizations, including the American Chemical Society
and the American Crystallographic Association, drew the same conclusion.
Since then, the station has been redesigned and the list of planned experiments has changed, but the
research community remains overwhelmingly opposed. To date, at least 20 scientific organizations
from around the world have determined that the space station

Pony has long been in the running for shoe corporations and has, as long as I can remember, made a decent focus on comfort ability and style amongst the ball players. Just Do It has never failed to get in the minds of every and anyone willing to lay on the line their sweat and grit in order to better their abilities in their particular sport or life. Its quick in its delivery but effective enough to persuade the eye to look at the shoe. There are colors that match the uniform worn by the player with the personalized shoe. In this instance Jason Richardson, who plays for the Charlotte Bobcats, is the culprit that makes his mark on the feet of those who will purchase the shoe. The ad itself doesn t play on any specific meaning. There is a picture of the shoe with Jason Richardson around the life size shoes and words in color that read, Can You Dig It. The shoe itself is quite unique in design, it s a new shoe that appears to be rather comfortable and trendsetting in one. The ad doesn t use gimmicks to push its products, again that goes back to the reputation Nike has, it simply displays its shoe and you either like it or you don t. Not as persuasive as previous advertisements Nike has made the public accustomed to. In my theology of the comparisons, I found that Nike has forever been and will continue to be the bar at which everyone will strive for. They push the limits of interests in people and find ways to appeal to the ever changing generations. The ad although rather plain in appearance is still new and does exactly what it needed to in order to showcase the product based off of what Nike has done in the past and what they plan doing in the near future. Pony, in my opinion, is the victor here. They have a solid punch line in what they were trying to stress. They emphasized ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As a person living with all three qualities, opportunities did not come easily. However, with hard work and determination, Lorraine Hansberry defies the odds and becomes a successful writer of plays that encompass concerns ranging from civil rights to religion. In A Raisin in the Sun and To Be Young, Gifted and Black, Lorraine Hansberry emphasizes the necessity of improvement as an individual and as a nation. Civil rights and equality contribute to a life of prosperity in which efforts of mankind remain unaffected by race, gender, or social class. Mama strongly believes in a God, but Hansberry illustrates Beneatha as an atheist. Holding a traditional view on the world, Mama reacts abruptly when Beneatha expresses her opinion. After Beneatha uses the Lord s name in vain, Mama yells, I just ain t going to have you round here reciting the scriptures in vain you hear me? (Hansberry, A Raisin in the Sun 46). Mama understands she cannot convince Beneatha into having the same beliefs, so she simply demands Beneatha to respect her beliefs. In many ways, Lorraine Hansberry reflects Beneatha s views and beliefs. Like Beneatha, Lorraine Hansberry was an atheist; however, her mother believed in a God. Also, Hansberry relates to Mama because she, also, desires people to respect her opinions and beliefs. Gerald Weales expresses his ideas on A Raisin in the Sun by stating that Miss Hansberry has come close as possible to what she intended a play about negroes which is not simply a negro play (528). Not only does the play emphasize Black rights, but it also highlights the importance of individualism. In her works, Hansberry demonstrates acceptance toward other religions. She welcomes other views and radiates love through her words. In To Be Young, Gifted and Black, Lorraine Hansberry concludes, I wish to live because life has within it that which is good, that which is beautiful and that which is love (100). As identified by BuildingDNA executives, there are four components to this challenge that must be addressed, which are the following: Paremeter izing new contracts; identifying and acquiring capacity of skilled man hours; managing the fulfillment of each contract to meet expectations; and analysis and evaluate production outcomes versus standards for future contracts and the continuous improvement of the production process. Problem Causes The root cause of the challenge addressed above, is the lack of resources. The academic paper at hand aimed at assessing the performance of Compute Unified Device Architecture (CUDA) programming for machining simulation. It has three main dimensions, introducing the machining simulation algorithm parallelization, discussing the main constraints related to the use of the CUDA architecture proposing different solutions to the problem of parallelization with CUDA. Authors have argued that the main purpose of machining simulations in Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) software is to detect collisions between the tool and the part on the whole part surface of manufactured goods. Such surfaces are employed to provide sealing or friction functions, optical or aero dynamics properties. This task requires specific geometrical deviations to be executed within a given manufacturing process. More specifically, reducing the cycle time of developing a product will rely on how to simulate the evolution of geometrical deviations of surfaces throughout the manufacturing process. The literature reveals that there are many methods to perform machining simulations. For instance, methods based on a partition of the space by lines, by voxels or by planes, methods based on meshes ... etc. However, simulations of the machined surfaces in CAM software are very limited, purely geometric and don t include any characteristic of the actual process that may damage the surface quality during machining. • 8. Frequency Distributions Frequency Distributions In the United States, annual income would have a more normal distribution than age at time of death. This is due to the fact that more people are in the middle when it comes to their income distribution, but the majority is on the upper end of the spectrum when it comes to their age at the time they die. There will always be people who are very poor and people who are very wealthy, but the largest demographic group lies in between those two extremes, at the top of the curve. For those who study people who are dying and/or people who have died based on their age ranges, the majority of people live past middle age, which would be the top of the curve if one were to overlay that curve onto the annual income chart. While there are some outliers and variances with any chart or curve, it is still important to take a careful look at the way the curve is structured to get accurate information (Bryc, 1995; Casella Berger, 2001). The average age for death in the US today is just under 80 for women and just over 75 for men, so the curve based on age is going to be much different (and much further to the right at the top of the curve) than a curve that is based on annual income (Bryc, 1995). One of the ways a person or a business can get information to plot on a curve is to have sampling done. Sampling is a process by which a business would collect data and use that data to determine whether it wanted to market to or reach out to a particular subset of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Regardless of the system, communist or capitalist, and though our goals may deviate, we are all pursuing happiness and comfort, the tools used to attain this products of that society. That said, it is immediately legible whereabouts Becker wishes us to view the East German state as wholly negative, and he does this through several key scenes. At the film s opening, we learn of the first East German shot into space, surely an apotheosis of what a state can achieve, its grasp extending to the stars. But behind the curtain of this vast achievement we can see how it is brought about through the utter bending of citizens to the states will. Alex s mother Christiane, who we first assume the innocent of the piece, is interrogated by the Stasi for her husband has fled the country. He doesn t say what the thought was or what relived the thought, but it is interesting to note that from the shepherd boy to the lamb to the bird all carry connotations of youth and vibrancy. As we see later on, this connection between youth and nature goes much deeper. The joy felt throughout this stanza is carried over into the fourth stanza where there is a such a vibrant celebration even the very earth is a part of it. During this celebration, he says that it would be an evil day if he were upset right now. This almost suggests that he is unhappy right now and is forcing himself to be happy. It guides the reader to question this happiness and separate the narrator, and in turn themselves, from the scene laid out before them. The distrust is only heightened when from the very trees and flowers themselves a question is whispered. Where is that dream from before? Where did it go? This is how the fourth stanza concludes as it lays the groundwork for the rest of the poem by tying together the first four stanzas. These first four stanzas are used by Wordsworth to prepare the reader to understand him. Throughout the first four stanzas, Wordsworth continually drives home the separation between this man and the nature around him. From the inability to fully see nature in the first stanza or the thought of grief from the third stanza, this separation is always there. It s never a negative thing. Wordsworth doesn t imply ... • 27. A Comprehensive Analysis Of Davidson s Article,... In Mark Davidson s article, Displacement, Space and Dwelling: Placing Gentrification Debate , he cites several contemporary case studies where certain deteriorated areas have been targeted for redevelopment and subsequent evictions have taken place. Using several philosophical authors, such as Heidegger and Lefebvre, Davidson s focuses on the effect spatial metaphors have on displacement, and how these concepts tie into the conceptualization of space. In this paper I will compile a thorough summary of the article and formulate a comprehensive analysis of Davidson s arguments as well as his sources. Davidson begins his article with arguably one of the most notable and recent subjects of gentrification, 1520 Sedgwick, the birthplace of Hip Hop. This dilapidated apartment building s owners announced they planned to leave New York State s Mitchell Lama programe (pg. 2), which would result in the current residents evictions. Essentially the program offered tax incentives to building owners who limit equity to maintain low cost units. However, in lieu of tax incentives many building owners have elected to leave the program in order to make more profit via higher costing units, which current residents cannot afford. In the case of 1520 Sedgwick current and former residents, such as the credited father of Hip Hop Kool Herc, have veiled their mission to prevent the gentrification process from consuming their building by petitioning for a historic listing as well as offering to ... The painting was done by Jacques Louis David, who was the leading Neoclassical painter in France during the eighteenth century. David rejected the Rococo style that was popular of that time, which was characterized by fantasy and playfulness. David was interested in painting images with antiquity. The Oath of the Horatii has elements of classical Greek and Roman art and architecture. Oath of the Horatii was a political painting that David had comprised to stimulate the publics attention (Fred S. Kleiner 680). Oath of the Horatii captures a heroic and patriotic moment. Something big is happening in this composition. There are three Horatii brothers taking an oath, which is being administered by their father. The oath they are taking is to live or die for their country, which happens to be Rome. While taking this oath, the Horatii brothers are facing their father. They stand in unison with one another. They each have one leg and arm extending out. The father holds three swords up and out towards the Horatii brothers in the same pose. The Horatii brothers extended arms are saluting towards the swords. The postures of all four men appear upright and strong. There is no emotion of fear on their faces. There was no more gold to be found (which was the original reason most of the Spaniards came), and Puerto Rico had to be productive to Spain in some fashion. Facing the fact that there was no more gold, the Spaniards looked to the rich land and soil for the next way that Puerto Rico could help the Kingdom of Spain. They raised cattle, and they planted staple crops, but sugarcane was the bread and butter so to speak. The only problem was that they could only trade with Spain for a long time and Spain grew their own sugarcane, too. But let s not jump ahead of ourselves here. What was needed was a labor force to work these fields, and the Taino Indians were living in the Hinterlands. There was no way they were going to work those fields. Myres (2012) from Milpark Business School stated that, GMs who used to be experts in some functions find it difficult to adjust to management. This could mean an organization is not being fully managed when Managers are not managing. If a GM has limited managerial experience, tasks are delegated without accountability. Bioindicators of Strawberry Creek Edar Liu, Cindy Sandoval Espinoza, Ethan Schlatter, Weirui Xiao October 9, 2016 Biology 1B, Section 224, Group 1 Abstract: Through our research we aimed to determine if there were any differences in water quality of both the north and south forks of Strawberry Creek. As time progresses and the environment changes it is important to keep track of how certain species are being impacted by these features, and how they cope with change. We hypothesized that due to the lack of pollution, the south fork will promote a greater diversity of macroinvertebrates. This was due to the fact that there was less runoff and trash that could be introduced to the water in the south fork, than there was in the north fork. We gathered data by analyzing the different organisms living in both forks. We collected a total of fifty vials composed of five organisms from each fork, and inspected them under microscopic view. After gathering data and identifying the different kinds of organisms living in the different forks we assessed whether the organisms from the samples could live in high or low resolution water. We also took a t test to assess the probability of these differences being due to relevant factors or by chance. Our major findings suggest that organisms in the south fork showed a higher demand to living in cleaner water indicating that our hypothesis was correct. Chinese parents and American parents hold opposing philosophies about how they view their children, opposing methods about how they raise their children, and opposing effects on the personalities of their children. Chinese parents feel that their children have a responsibility to obey them and pay them back for their efforts in raising them. American parents, on the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I can see the positive and negative in both methods. The fundamental problem with all parents is selfishness. When Western parents don t do enough to help their kids reach their potential, they are selfish, and probably too busy doing what we feel like doing. And when Chinese parents force kids to do what will bring the parents praise, they are selfish too. I think that the correct approach is a balance between Chinese and Western parenting, with the focus being on commitment to your children. If parent can find the balance between these two types then both sides will have succefull children. I really believe Western parental method and Chinese parental method can both be used. You can t be too soft and too hard. You have to balance it out. Chinese Tiger VS American Beer Chinese parents and American parents differ substantially in their parenting styles, and a noticeable difference can be seen in the success of their children. Anya is looking at them, trying to keep an emotionless expression painted on her face while a smirk desperately tries to crack her lips open. Clarke releases Lexa s waist and takes a step back, running her fingers through her locks just to do something with her hand. Both girls blinking in complete embarrassment and Lexa has stopped her stirring while she looks at her sister, hoping she will just stop mocking her. The blonde feels her cheeks burning at the temperature of a nuclear fission. You where insufferable even as a child, always complaining if anyone dared not to do what you were asking Anya concludes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She alternatively looks at her and her sister, blinking her eyes in complete disbelief. Non posso crederci che l hai detto She eventually grunts at Anya who is chuckling, hands in the back pockets of her dark jeans, one hip tilted to one side. /I can t believe you said that/ Anya shrugs and looking at Clarke, who is still laughing, she frowns, snapping her tongue. Do you like the nickname Clarke? Yes, oh gosh She answers, covering her mouth with an hand, trying to placate her laugh. Oh... Anya scoffs with a worried expression and Lexa glares at her a warning glare, knowing she is about to say something else. Her sister totally ignores the brunette and she concludes her attack with a candid voice. Don t tell me you ll use that in bed now, please . To achieve this goal, the agency conducts an extensive public relations effort that is similar to the marketing campaigns of America s biggest corporations. NASA has learned a valuable lesson about marketing in the 21st century: to promote its programs, it must provide entertaining visuals and stories with compelling human characters. For this reason, NASA issues a steady stream of press releases and images from its human spaceflight program. Every launch of the space shuttle is a media event. NASA presents its astronauts as ready made heroes, even when their accomplishments in space ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This knowledge could be used to plan a manned mission to Mars or the construction of a base on the moon. But these justifications for the station are largely myths. Here are the facts, plain as potatoes: The International Space Station is not a platform for cutting edge science. Unmanned probes can explore Mars and other planets more cheaply and effectively than manned missions can. And a moon colony would be a silly destiny. [break] The Myth of Science IN 1990 THE American Physical Society, an organization of 41,000 physicists, reviewed the experiments then planned for the International Space Station. Many of the studies involved examining materials and fluid mechanics in the station s microgravity environment. Other proposed experiments focused on growing protein crystals and cell cultures on the station. The physical society concluded, however, that these experiments would not provide enough useful scientific knowledge to justify building the station. Thirteen other scientific organizations, including the American Chemical Society and the American Crystallographic Association, drew the same conclusion. Since then, the station has been redesigned and the list of planned experiments has changed, but the research community remains overwhelmingly opposed. To date, at least 20 scientific organizations from around the world have determined that the space station ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
