Anne Bradstreet And Puritan Writing Style
Faith has played an incredibly large role throughout all of American history. This is shown especially
in early America when the Puritans settled in North America. Writing in this time period shows just
how prominent faith is in this time period, as much of it directly alludes to the Bible. Throughout the
time period writing and beliefs evolved. This is highly noticeable when comparing American poet
Anne Bradstreet, and clergyman Jonathan Edwards. Bradstreet s works include poems such as To My
Dear and Loving Husband , and Upon the Burning of Our House, July 10th, 1666 and while Edwards
wrote many sermons, the most famous is Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God . These works differ
in many ways, but many comparisons and contrasts can be made in regards to writing style and beliefs
presented in these works.
The first major difference between these two writers is the major difference in their writing styles.
Though both are undoubtedly Puritan in style they hold many differences in how they write, and what
they write about. Anne Bradstreet s writing is seen as rather basic in it s composition and rhyme
scheme. The writing is in stanzas, much like other poetry, and the rhyme is a very basic AA B B
scheme, in To My Dear and Loving Husband she writes, If ever two were one, then surely we./If ever
man loved her wife, then thee; ( lines 1 2) these opening lines illustrate the simplicity in her writing.
Contrast this to the opening lines of Sinners in the Hands of an

Wildlife Is Being Threatened But We Can Protect It
Have you ever wanted to have a bonfire? Do you love the home you live in? Do you ever waste the
water you drink? The next time you focus on these conveniences or advantages of your life, consider
what you re doing to the wildlife environment. Wildlife habitats are being destroyed in many ways by
many factors. For the purpose of this paper I m going to focus on the following five areas.
Increased Development
Fire
Pollution of water
Redistribution of water
Natural Disasters
All three factors above represent destructive factors contributing to habitat destruction. A habitat is
defined as an undisturbed natural region in which wildlife lives. For example, fish live in ponds, bears
and wolves, as well as deer and squirrels live in the forest. Lizards and snakes reside in the desert. To
begin with, increased development is a major effect of threatening wildlife. Agriculture is causing
wildlife to be destroyed because forests are being turned into croplands. They re increasing pressure to
redevelop land conservation and crops. Agriculture is killing wildlife because the habitats are being
taken over by croplands. Deserts and forests are continually being wiped out by developers and
investors who are more interested in making money than preserving wildlife. Habitat destruction is
increased by the rapidly growing human population. As populations increase, we, as humans tend to
demand the use of more agricultural land consumption to build our cities and towns and

Cause And Effect Of The Arctic Sea Ice
People know that Human driven climate change (Fiona Harvey, November 25, 2017) has become an
international issue which has triggered to warm air temperature. The Arctic, the regions around the
North Pole, has huge ice. Since the more the temperature rises, the more ice melt, climate change and
the ice melt have extremely a strong connection. Furthermore, a lot of species live below the sea of the
Arctic, also there are some people who place their home in this area. As a result, global warming leads
to the change of the Arctic sea ice condition which influences the environment and the people of the
Arctic.
Arctic sea ice has responsibility for stopping the rise of temperature on the earth; however, the
expanse of the ice has been decreasing. Arctic sea ice has a significant element on the earth. The ice
plays a role of lowering the sea and air temperature like air conditioner (Stevens, F. 2016) by
reflecting the heat of the sun back to the universe. This means the ice has the ability of regulating heat.
However, the air conditioner has not been working as much as people expect. According to Science
Daily, the amount of the Arctic sea ice in 2017 has gotten smaller, 7 million square kilometers in
1970s and 1980s to 4.7 million square kilometers, and the ice thickness has decreased thirty percent
compared to between 2001 and 2004 (Alfred Wegener Institute, September 15, 2017). The reduction
of the ice extent causes not to fulfill a function as the air conditioner In

I. Problem 1 Osprey Corporation
a. Facts
Dan and Patrick Zimbrick, sole shareholders of Osprey Corporation have been required to repay
compensation to Osprey Corporation that was found by the IRS to be excessive. In order to determine
how these repayments are to be treated for tax purposes, it is important to note that in 2006 the board
of directors made up of Dan, Patrick and their uncle John, adopted a legally enforceable resolution.
The resolution stipulated that any overpayment of salary disallowed as a deduction by the IRS would
be repaid to the Osprey Corporation. In late 2010 during an audit by the IRS, ... Show more content on

In this case, the taxpayer included the excessive compensation in his return for the year the
compensation was received. Section 1341 allows a taxpayer the option to choose the more favorable
alternative. As written in the case: if the taxpayer included an item in gross income in one taxable
year, and in a subsequent taxable year he becomes entitled to a deduction because the item or a portion
thereof is no longer subject to his unrestricted use, and the amount of the deduction is in excess of
$3,000, the tax for the subsequent year is reduced by either the tax attributable to the deduction or the
decrease in the tax for the prior year attributable to the removal of the item, whichever is greater (52
AFTR 2d 83 6071, 718 F2d 193, 83 2 USTC P 9620.). If Dan or Patrick had a higher tax rate in 2007
than in 2011, this credit could result in more tax savings. Because the court had determined that the
repayment can be claimed under section 1341 in Van Cleave v. U.S., and the IRS had taken a similar
position in Rev. 69 115 1969 1 C.B. 50. Dan and Patrick can claim the repayments to Osprey
Corporation as either a credit under Section 1341 or a deduction under section 162(a).

Standard Principles And Techniques For International Air...
ICAO English Language Proficiency Since the birth of the International Civil Aviation Organization
(ICAO) in 1947, this U.N. funded specialized agency has been a substantial catalyst for the
development of standard principles and techniques for international air navigation. In addition, they
continue to facilitate the promotion of safety and overall development in the continuum of flight.
Between the advances in regulations, aircraft operation, aeronautical charts, air traffic services, aircraft
accident investigations and much more, this powerful agency has contributed to the vast majority of
aspects that compose aviation. Out of these numerous contributions, one of the many significant roles

Undeniably, there is an absolute necessity of mutual understanding between all pilots and controllers.
Perhaps the International Civil Aviation Organization s standardization of the English language in
aviation in 1951 was one of the most vital advances for flight safety. This official language of
aviation, for the most part, kept the skies relatively safe. It would not be until the 70 s come around,
when tragedy would hit and the ICAO would have to reevaluate their intervention with
communication within aviation.
Although English may have been the standard language permeating throughout the skies, the flaws of
air traffic communication would soon come into light. Basic misunderstandings turned into colossal
circumstances. According to a journal analysis:
On March 27th, 1977, after a tiring shift, the Dutch pilot of a Boeing 747 misunderstood a clearance,
after take off for a take off clearance and began rolling down a fog covered runway. He announced to
the tower that he was at takeoff . The non native English speaking air traffic controller took the at to
literally mean at the take off position . However, through fatigue or frustration, the Dutch pilot had
performed an error, that only bilingual speakers can call, code switching . It is when one uses two
languages concurrently. In this case the Dutch infinitive ing , (as in taking off), but replaced with the

Taking a Look at Asian Women Stereotypes
1. Explicit yellowface is that it creates power imbalance between white and Asian/Americans. That it
is okay for racial masquerading and playing yellowface, as well as adopting characteristics and
behaviors. 2. Implicit yellowface is that only Asians are type cast for these roles and unfortunately,
someone has to play the role and most the time it is the Asian actor. This assumption states that
Asians/Americans are interchangeable all Asians are the same. 1. By regulating Camptowns by the US
military and by Korea (Yuh 18), women were tested for STI s twice a week (Yuh 24). The US military
police created this system where if women tested positive they were not informed nor were they
informed on who gave them the infection (Yuh 29). These women were harassed by both sides
American and Korea for proof that they were tested (Yuh 29). 2. Another example is the US soldiers
viewed these women as entertainers. In Vietnam, an installation of prostitution servicing four thousand
US soldiers was specially created by and for the benefits of the US soldiers (Yuh 16). The bases will
make/have Camptowns, bars, and parlors near so it is easier for GIs to go there. Therefore, it creates
and feeds the culture of the sex industry and slavery. GI s have this pre misconception of Korean
women and Asian women. They believed these women enjoyed their job as much as the money they
earned because East Asian women are these hypersexual addicts. In fact, they were seen as exotic

The Movie Orange Is The New Black `` And What I Call A...
In its origin, the term antihero referred to the male star of a drama who remained likable despite moral
ambiguity (Rabinowitz). For an extended period of time, female antiheros simply did not exist. There
was no word for female characters who one was forced to like, regardless of their wolfly
characteristics. We simply love them because they are the star of the show. Piper Chapman is exactly
this: a character who one only likes because they are the central character in the story, when in reality,
they have very questionable morals and are most likely wolves. Alex Rabinowitz, leading figure in
entertainment news on social media, defines Piper as the most groundbreaking character on television
because of her journey to be what he calls an antihero and what I call a wolf. The two terms seem
virtually interchangeable, with the only difference being the audience s feelings towards the character.
Chapman is the main character of one of Netflix s greatest hit series, Orange Is The New Black . This
series, created and produced by Jenji Kohan, follows the lives of an entire prison full of women who
are serving their time in Litchfield Penitentiary, a minimum security women s prison located in upstate
New York. All of these women have their own stories and problems that the viewer follows
throughout the four current seasons. While watching the episodes, the viewer truly grows to love
many of the characters, each in their own unique way. The one character that most people are

Corporate Law And Shareholder Approval
Most equity carve outs do not require shareholder approval and require only approval by the parent
company s and subsidiary company s boards of directors. More complicated corporate law
considerations, particularly those related to fiduciary duties, typically arise following the closing of an
equity carve out, especially if the parent retains a significant equity interest in the subsidiary.
Shareholder Approval
The question of whether shareholder approval is required to implement an equity carve out is
determined by state law. While shareholder approval statutes vary by state, most are substantially
similar to Delaware s statute, which provides that shareholders must approve a transaction in which a
company will sell all or substantially ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most equity carve outs are not large enough to require shareholder approval; if the parent sells less
than a majority stake and retains control over the subsidiary, there is a strong argument against
needing to obtain shareholder approval. If the parent sells between 50% and 100% of its subsidiary
shares, on the other hand, and the subsidiary s business is important to the parent, there is a strong
argument in support of needing shareholder approval. The requirement for shareholder approval is
significant because proxy materials must be mailed, a shareholder meeting must be organized and
approval must be obtained before the transaction can be completed. If the parent s shares are
registered under the Exchange Act, proxy materials must comply with Regulation 14A and meet
disclosure requirements. While proxy materials should disclose the material terms of the offering,
details such as final price and size of the offering are typically not determined until the registration
statement is effective, which creates a risk that the parent will not be able to meet its disclosure
obligations.
Board Approval
Approval is typically required by both the parent s and the subsidiary s boards of directors in order to
implement an equity carve out. While the specific

The Veldt Technology
Having everything done for you seems like a really good idea. Technology has made this possible, but
it s really not at all what we would expect. In the past, there were inventions to help humans along
their way to living a simple life; but do we really want that, a very simple life, so simple that we will
get bored around the house and our things will be done by someone else, or maybe even by something
else? Do we want our things, our chores or our work to be done by... computers or technology? In the
short story, The Veldt by Ray Bradbury, inventions that would seem unimaginable or even impossible
for us today have a very big impact on the characters lives. For the Hadley family, these impacts make
them spoiled, lazy, careless and useless. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lydia acknowledges this and that she doesn t belong in the house I feel like I don t belong here. as
well as for George; he responds with Am I? (p.119) when Lydia explains him that he s unnecessary
too. The two of them decide that they should shut off the whole house, Live sort of a carefree one for
all existence. (p.125). The kids obviously don t want that and so they think of getting rid of their
boring, old parents that don t listen to them. They ask themselves how they got in this mess and what
prompted them to buy a nightmare and come up with the idea that it was pride, money and foolishness
(p.129). They thought that because they have money, they should buy this mad man house.
Ray Bradbury is telling us that he does not like technology. To make his point, he makes up a
futuristic world where people are just useless, lazy and boring. He makes up houses that serve as wife
and mother now and nursemaid. (p.119). He really wants us to see that technology, abused, is actually
not as good as everyone would imagine. When the Hadleys buy the house and the nursery, they
actually buy their own ticket to death. They might not know it, but it s true. Bradbury warns us that
children should never be exposed to that kind of technology because of the outcome it can have

Essay on Millau Viaduct Project Management
The Millau Viaduct is a cable stayed road bridge which spans the valley of the river Tarn situated
alongside the Township of Millau in Southern France. The viaduct standing over 343 meters tall was
the world s tallest cable stayed bridge and was proposed as the missing link in the A75 auto route that
connects Paris in the north to Perpignan in the south. The Millau Viaduct was the product of 17 years
of ideas, proposals, planning and designs that resulted in shaving 40 miles off the former route
through the region, a boom in local economic development and the completion of the one of the world
s most well managed and constructed projects.

History of Depression
History of Depression
Depressive illness has been known since biblical times. The word depression comes from the Latin
word deprimere (to press down). Thus it means feeling pressed down, sad or low. In the late Middle
Ages, religious leaders believed depression was caused by posession of evil spirits. The German
religious reformer Martin Luther wrote All heaviness of the mind and melancholy comes of the Devil.
Through the years depression has been treated with such remedies as whipping, bloodletting, exorcism
and soothing baths. By the 1960s, antidepressant medications were discovered that relieved depression
by correcting chemical imbalances in the brain and because of that many scientists started to believe

dizziness, sweating ( ever sweaty palms sickness is not a depression syndrome), chest pains and
shortness of breath. Feeling of guilt also occurs in a third of depressed people, often because of some
failure of minor mistake many years ago. They feel they should expect punishment for these imagined
mistakes or failures. (like suddenly feeling sorry for cheating in high school math test when you are

Common causes

alcohol/drugs intoxication and withdrawal

Cholera Symptoms, Causes, Vaccine, Treatment and History
Produced by the bacteria, vibrio cholerae that creates a toxin that affects the absorption of water in the

acid when ingested, while the surviving bacteria settle in the small intestine and begin making the
toxin that produces the symptoms of Cholera. The toxin created by the bacteria, Vibrio Cholerae, is a

The Birth Of Florence Nightingale, A Pioneer Of The Modern...
May 12, 1820 marked the beginning of a revolutionary and exciting era of nursing characterized by
the birth of Florence Nightingale, a pioneer of the modern nursing profession for her work as a nurse,
educator, researcher, and an environmentalist in the nursing profession (Alligood, 2014). Nightingale
developed a number of nursing theories regarding the environment and effective care for patients and
refined her theories to focus on the health of houses, personal hygiene, and petty management
(Alligood, 2014). These canons were crucial in the creation of a nursing era focused on health
promotion and disease prevention. One preventable disease from Nightingale s time that is still
prevalent today is cholera. Cholera is a condition characterized by diarrhea, vomiting, and leg cramps,
resulting in severe dehydration or death due to the bacteria, vibro cholerae (Centres for Disease
Control and Prevention, 2014). Cholera is spread through consumption of water or food that has been
contaminated with fecal bacteria, and as such is preventable through education programs, improved
access to clean water, and proper personal hygiene (World Health Organization, 2016). Médecins Sans
Frontières uses these measures, in addition to the administration of oral vaccines, to prevent Cholera
in South Sudanese refugees. The Médecins Sans Frontières cholera prevention program relies on
Florence Nightingale s nursing theories of health of houses, personal hygiene, and petty management

The Effect Of Reflex On Children s Health
Introduction:
Reflex can defined as an automatic and often inborn response to a stimulus that involves a nerve
impulse passing inward from a receptor to a nerve center and thence outward to an effector (as a
muscle or gland) without reaching the level of consciousness (Merriam Webster) or more simply put
an reaction to an action that our bodies do to return to homeostasis without us having to think about it.
Reflexes play an extremely important role in remaining healthy and protecting us from being harmed
without having to take the time to think about it. For example, infants have a suck reflex that causes
them to start sucking when the roof of their mouths are stimulated; this reflex is obviously important
because if infants did not have this reflex, they could die of starvation since they would not be able to
draw milk from their mother s breast (this is actually a problem with premature infants as the suck
reflex does not develop until between the 32nd and 36th week of pregnancy) (Stanford Children s
Health). There are two main types of reflexes the simpler monosynaptic reflexes (or spinal reflexes)
that can act without any input from the brain and the more complex superficial reflexes which still
requiring some processing from the brain. A reflex consists of five main components, which as a
group are called the reflex arc. Component one is the sensory receptor, which receives stimulus and
then sends an and impulse to the second component, the afferent pathway. The

Heroin Problem
Heroins cheap and widely available status has spread to many cities throughout the United States;
these users are buying and shooting up right away, often in public. Many police officers find users
unconscious or dead in cars, restaurants, in parks, hospitals, and libraries. Not only does this add to
visibility of the drug to public eye, but leaving behind dirty needles in these public locations lead to a
health hazard. The heroin epidemic needs to be stopped immediately by understanding where the
problem starts, the effects of the drug, and educating the public about treatment, addiction, and the

Gatsby lies about his life to fit in with other people. Nick is the only one who does not lie to himself.
Fitzgerald was truthful to himself, when he published books he did not say he was famous to fit in
with other people. Nick heads east seeking his own fortune and not to be given one. Nicks moral sense
is also like Fitzgerald s, at the beginning Nick starts to interact with the others and is not like them at
all. He is set off to be more practical, down to earth person. This is evident in chapter two when he
does not know how to respond to Tom and Myrtle s secret life. Fitzgerald was also a down to earth
person who was realistic. He told his wife that she should stay with him because of an educated guess
that he was going to make money off of his books. His wife did not go and cheat on him because he
did not have money, she waited for him and eventually married

Dna Is Not A Bodily Fluid
DNA is not a bodily fluid, but is genetic information that can be identified through a bodily fluid.
According to a scholarly journal article, in the Nineteenth century law enforcement agencies began to
collect, organize, analyze and store collections of DNA samples for forensic purposes (big brother).
DNA is extremely useful when nailing a suspect who it has been traced to. The biological evidence
left at a crime scene comes along with a great story that has yet to be told through bodily fluids such
as semen, blood or saliva found at the crime scene. These bodily fluids become key evidence to
solving a case.
There are numerous cases that have been solved based on the findings of DNA through multiple
bodily fluids left at a crime scene. The case that I had chose was E.K MacDaniel, Warden et al.
Petitioners v. Troy Brown, which was a case that dealt with semen taken from a rape kit. Although the
subject of rape could a be a touchy subject for most people, I find cases that deal with such a
horrendous act to be very interesting due to how the case is investigated and the measures it takes to
find the evidence needed to solve the case.
In the case of E.K MacDaniel, Warden et al. Petitioners v. Troy Brown, on January 29, 1994, at 1a.m.
9 year old, Jane Doe was brutally raped in her trailer bedroom. Residing near Jane Doe s trailer were
two brothers, Troy and Travis. Across from Jane Doe s trailer resided Troy and Travis other brother,

A Brief Look at Rubin Hurricane Carter
In the late 1960s black men were arrested because they fit a simple description of a black man.White
men did everything possible to stop a black man from getting recognized. Professional boxer Rubin
Carter was born on May 6, 1937, in Clifton, New Jersey. In 1966, at the height of his boxing career,
Carter was wrongfully convicted of a triple murder.Carter was arrested at twelve after attacking a man
with a boy scout knife and again in 1957 for purse snatching and served four years in trenton state
maximum security prison. When four white people were shot and the only reason for the three murders
and one survivor was racial retaliation. Rubin Hurricane Carter is an advocate, and a black man in
route of a crime scene was wrongfully arrested, put on trial four times, and released after twenty two
years in prison. Rubin Hurricane Carter was training for his next shot at the world middleweight title
against middleweight champion Dick Tiger in October 1966 when he was arrested for the June 17
triple murder of three patrons Jim Oliver,Fred Bob Nauyoks, and Hazel Tanis at the Lafayette Bar Grill
in Paterson. (Rubin) It was nearly closing time on June 17, 1966 at 2:30am at the Lafayette Grill on
Paterson when the bartender and part owner, James Oliver, was counting the day s receipts. (Passaic)
Oliver s establishment was reputed to be a haven for anti black sentiments at a time when racial
tensions in the city were high. (Passaic) A possible motive was created earlier in the

How Did Gregor Mendel Cause Death
Gregor Johann Mendel
Born: 22 July 1822
Birthplace: Hynice, Czechia
Location of death Brno, Czechia
Cause of death: unspecified
Remains: Buried, Central Cemetery, Brno, Czechia Gregor s parents were farmers. His father s name
was Anton and his father was known as Rosine. He had two sister their names were Veronica and
Theresia. He was a brilliant student in grade school but it became harder to get money to put him in
school. When he couldn t get in a university he gave up and became a Central European monk. Gregor
while he was a monk tried to become a high school teacher and failed the exam twice but was still
allowed to work part time as a teacher. While tending the the gardens in the monastery as a monk
Mendel became very interested in the pea plants. Mendel picked pea plants because they grew easily,
reproduced in large numbered, and their reproduction can be manipulated. They also had both female
and male reproduction organs. He then began doing scientific experiments on the pea plants. Even
though Mendel was doing experiments with pea plants he was still teaching part time as ... Show more

That the inheritance of each trait is determined by units or factors that are passed on to descendents
unchanged called genes. That an individual inherits one such unit from each parent for each trait. That
a trait may not show up in an individual but can still be passed on to the next generation. Independent
assortment of genes and their corresponding traits was first observed by Gregor Mendel in 1865
during his studies of genetics in pea plants. Two identical forms one has two yellows the other has two
greens. The principle of segregation and the principle of independent assortment. Some biologists
refer to Mendel s principles as laws . Most of the leading scientists in the 19th century accepted this

Frederik Schiller s Letters On The Aesthetic Education Of Man
The role of art in human life has been studied by several philosophers throughout time. Frederik
Schiller (1795 1805), in his Letters On the Aesthetic Education of Man develops the theory of the
drives to explain the fragmentation of the human being and places art in a reconciliatory role between
man s personal nature and the community. The present essay will discuss in some detail Schiller s
theory of the drives, placing the main focus on the role and importance of the play drive in human life,
to finally discuss the features in Schiller s theory of play that help elucidate the role of art in human
life.
According to Schiller, men in modern society experiment a conflict between the cultivation of
individual talent and the welfare of their community as a single being. This conflict results in an
alienation of the being and its consequent fragmentation. Taking this into account, Schiller states there
are two aspects of human nature to be considered: the sense drive and the form drive. The sense, or
sensuous drive, is born from man s physical existence, and thrives to achieve constant change of
matter within a limit of time (finite). It is man s most primitive state . On the other hand, the form
drive, born from man s rational nature, thrives to free man and maintain his person despite all the
changes of his condition overlooking a limited time frame (infinite).
This duality of human nature brings forth an imbalance in man s nature when one of the senses
overpowers the

Michael Lewis The Big Short
Book selection #3 (from the JBHS Summer Reading List): The Big Short
(1) There are countless themes, characters, and plots of The Big Short that I could discuss but the
personalities described by Michael Lewis were, to me, the most interesting part of the book. Michael
Burry, a Hedge Fund Manager from California, was the first person to short the Housing Market. He is
awkward, with Aspergers and a glass eye, but as it turns out, a brilliant money manager. Greg
Lippmann, a Deustche Bank trader found out about Burry s deals and was quick to short the market as
well. Steve Eisman and his team found out about the short accidentally by a call to a wrong number.
They were money managers at FrontPoint Partners when Greg Lippmann called to try to ... Show

However, the subject matter of the novel can be very confusing at times to those who aren t familiar
with financial markets. One of the most confusing moments of the story was the ending. It took me a
few minutes to understand the meaning of it because, this part of the book shines a new light on the
meaning of the story. While reading the book, I thought Michael Lewis was telling the story to give
people a new idea of wall street and the big banks but while reading the last few paragraphs I found a
different meaning to the story. The ending, although a short few sentences, is pivotal moment of the
book. It reads... But the biggest lag of all was right here, on the streets. How long would it take before
the people walking back and forth in front of St. Patrick s Cathedral figured out what had just
happened to them? After reading those sentences several times, I discovered the meaning. Although
not explained in the book, after the housing market collapsed and a few of the big banks went out of
business (Lehman Brothers and Bear Stearns), people marched across manhattan protesting in an
event called Occupy Wall Street. The protests, however, didn t clearly define what they were asking
for, they simply were mad. This is what Lewis is explaining; the people that are protesting, have not
figured out the entire meaning of this huge financial crisis. Michael Lewis is saying that if we do not
realize the mistakes we made as an entire nation to get us into this recession, then we will never have
the strength to rebound from

Operating System:
An operating system is an interface between a user and the hardware of a computer. It is just a set of
software that manages computer hardware and controls the operations on the computer. Operating
system is the base of the application programs because they cannot contact the hardware directly. It
does not do any work itself; it just provides an environment in which the other programs on a
computer can run. Therefore, when a user enters or sends a command the operating system makes sure
that the command is executed or not, if not it displays a message explaining the error. Without
operating system a computer is of no use it is just a metal block.
Types of Operating System When considering about the types of operating systems, generally there
are four types:
Real time operating systems:
These kinds of operating system are used to control machines, scientific instruments and industrial
systems. They have a very little user interface capability and no end user utilities.

Undocumented Immigrants
In the past few years a dispute has risen in the middle of the controversy about illegal immigration and
border security. Are the children of illegal immigrants U.S. citizens? This a question that has provoked
intense arguments and various attempts to change the birth right law established in the Fourteen
Amendment. Many conservative people believe the sons and daughters of undocumented immigrants
shouldn t be granted American citizenship. They interpret the 14th amendment to exclude anyone
whose parents are not legal residents of this country. There has even been attempts to change the
Constitution and the Fourteen Amendment more exclusive. Doing so would leave many people
without nationally. Regardless of the countless arguments everyone ... Show more content on

Not only from trying to figure out who is a citizen and who is not but once millions lose the right to
every part of being an American the economy would suffer. There s millions of adults with illegal
parents, many of them also have a college education and a job that contributes to the U.S. economy. If
their citizenship is revoked they would be deported along with their parents to the parents homelands,
Mexico for example who according to the Pew Hispanic Center attributes about 59% of all immigrants
in the U.S. In that case with so many people being sent there, Mexico would experience a great
economic growth. Economic growth that would be caused by an increase in numbers in the work force
and the experience and knowledge many people who used to work in the U.S. would have. According
to Granting Illegal Immigrants a Path to Citizenship Would Boost US and State Economies by Robert
Lynch if illegal immigrants were legalized they would attribute billions of dollar to the economy. In a
time frame of ten years the GDP [a measure of total economic output], of the United States would be
$832 billion. Now imagine what would happen if all those illegal immigrants with potential to help the
economy doubled in number by taking away U.S. citizenship from native born people and instead of
legalizing them they were all deported to solve the immigration problem. How

What Speech Sounds Do You Expect That This Child Will Have...
1. What speech sounds do you expect that this child will have difficulty perceiving?
Left ear difficulty perceiving: p, k, f, s, th
Right ear difficulty perceiving: j, m, n, ng, z, d, v, b, o, I, a, r, p, ch, h, sh, g, k, f, s, th
2. Do you think that the child will have more difficulty with the vowels or the consonants and why?
I think that Julie will have more difficulty with the consonants because they are mostly found in
higher pitch areas of the speech banana. They also are softer being found on the lower decibel range.
Both of these areas are difficult areas for Julie to perceive those speech sounds.
3. Do you think that the home situation of the child has much influence on the child s speech abilities
and if so, how has this child s family influenced her speech abilities, based on what you know about
them?
Family involvement and influence is one of the top reasons for a child to either struggle or excel with
language and communication. From what I read there is a lack of support in the home. This is mostly
because of the age and condition of the hearing aids.
It is frequently found that a child with mild to moderate hearing loss such as Julie, can struggle even
more than a child with severe to profound hearing loss. This is because a child with mild to moderate
hearing loss is denied assistance or lacks proper diagnosis due to their ability to understand some of
the time. In Julie s case it is possible that the low IQ diagnosis was daunting to the

Threats And Vulnerabilities Of Itrust
When discussing the threats and vulnerabilities of iTrust, it is important to identify the security
measures to potentially rectify or prevent additional security issues. The iTrust database application
presented quite a few threats and vulnerabilities. One threat discussed is the threat of a facility not
having the proper equipment needed to run a secure organization. For proper security, an organization
may need to invest in equipment or devices that are more secure out of the box. This means that
computers and/or devices that are straight out of the box are deemed to be more secure in comparison
to a computer/device that have been used.
In many cases, though the computer/device may have been swiped clean, it poses a much greater
threat if the system was susceptible to certain vulnerabilities before. In addition, with these secure out
of the box systems it is important to verify proper installation. Organizations need to be sure that third
party vendors are completely authorized to assure the information that is being installed and updated is
secure in the hands of vendors/suppliers.
Another issue that needs addressing when it comes to security is the configuration that is established
in iTrust. The iTrust organization has an issue with user access. When discussing user access
configuration, an organization may want to analyze possible configuration management. This would
entail having a server administrator that would monitor the content in a repository. In this

Paul s Contribution to Christianity
It seems strange that so little is known biographically about one of the most important figures in
Christian history, but this only serves to add to the mystery and grandeur surrounding the Apostle Paul
of Tarsus. Much, however, is known of the time after his conversion to Christ and what he did to
contribute to Christianity in this period, and it is this that leaves a greater legacy than the simple facts
of his life. The contributions that he made towards the cause of Christ and the spreading and formation
of Christianity are what he is perennially remembered for.
Paul is remembered as a missionary and church planter. He undertook three extensive missionary
journeys, estimated to have taken place in A.D. 44, 49 and 53. He spent much ... Show more content

Paul was not fighting against the Law of Moses he knew the law, and that obeying the commandments
would lead to happiness. But he also knew that Christ had come to fulfil the law as messiah, and to
reconcile the world to himself (2 Corinthians 5:19). He did not interpose rejection of the law, but was
polemical of Jewish Christians excluding Gentiles on grounds such as circumcision. As he was later to
say of the event, There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in
Christ Jesus. (Galatians 3:28)
This teaching has impacted Christianity in history through the lives of individuals but most
significantly through the Reformation of the 16th Century. Martin Luther was strongly convicted on
this issue, seeing it as the epitome of Paul s teachings. Because Luther stood for this issue
unfalteringly, he was persecuted and excommunicated. He and his followers formed the Protestant
Church, turning away from Catholicism in disgust at their practices of indulgences to gain salvation,
making his mantra, the just shall live by faith. (Hab. 2:4, Rom. 1:17) This was scripture that Paul had
restated in his most famous and complete theological epistle, Romans. This influence of Paul brought
about conflict, but also good and freedom, and a new expression of Christianity.
Today, Catholic and Protestant churches still hold different views

Chronicle of a Death Untold by Gabriel García Márquez
TQ: To what extent do the Machismo and Marianismo ideals act as a catalyst to the plot of Chronicle
of a Death Foretold by Gabriel Garcia Marquez?
Honor over Love Honor can be earned and built throughout years of work and commitment but lost in
just one single action. When looking at many Latin American cultures it is the women s duty to
preserve the honor, and the male s job to protect it if there is ever a threat. The social ideologies of
machismo and marianismo act as a source of pressure to follow through the different events and
conflicts that took place in the novel Chronicle of a Death Foretold by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. The
standards held to men and women, along with multiple examples of the ideologies present in the book
assist in the revelation of how much the social norm and peer pressure effect a person s decisions. The
Columbian town Marquez transports the reader to appears no different than the rest of Latin American
in social standards. Machismo the idea of a man being the rock and foundation of a family; along with
marianismo the standard women are held against to be pure and preserve their family, and their own,
honor, virtue, and status. The idea of machismo and marianismo are extremely contradistinctive when
it comes to the standards being set. Santiago Nasar and I ... went to Maria Alejandrina Cervantes s

  • 2. Anne Bradstreet And Puritan Writing Style Faith has played an incredibly large role throughout all of American history. This is shown especially in early America when the Puritans settled in North America. Writing in this time period shows just how prominent faith is in this time period, as much of it directly alludes to the Bible. Throughout the time period writing and beliefs evolved. This is highly noticeable when comparing American poet Anne Bradstreet, and clergyman Jonathan Edwards. Bradstreet s works include poems such as To My Dear and Loving Husband , and Upon the Burning of Our House, July 10th, 1666 and while Edwards wrote many sermons, the most famous is Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God . These works differ in many ways, but many comparisons and contrasts can be made in regards to writing style and beliefs presented in these works. The first major difference between these two writers is the major difference in their writing styles. Though both are undoubtedly Puritan in style they hold many differences in how they write, and what they write about. Anne Bradstreet s writing is seen as rather basic in it s composition and rhyme scheme. The writing is in stanzas, much like other poetry, and the rhyme is a very basic AA B B scheme, in To My Dear and Loving Husband she writes, If ever two were one, then surely we./If ever man loved her wife, then thee; ( lines 1 2) these opening lines illustrate the simplicity in her writing. Contrast this to the opening lines of Sinners in the Hands of an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Wildlife Is Being Threatened But We Can Protect It Have you ever wanted to have a bonfire? Do you love the home you live in? Do you ever waste the water you drink? The next time you focus on these conveniences or advantages of your life, consider what you re doing to the wildlife environment. Wildlife habitats are being destroyed in many ways by many factors. For the purpose of this paper I m going to focus on the following five areas. Increased Development Fire Pollution of water Redistribution of water Natural Disasters All three factors above represent destructive factors contributing to habitat destruction. A habitat is defined as an undisturbed natural region in which wildlife lives. For example, fish live in ponds, bears and wolves, as well as deer and squirrels live in the forest. Lizards and snakes reside in the desert. To begin with, increased development is a major effect of threatening wildlife. Agriculture is causing wildlife to be destroyed because forests are being turned into croplands. They re increasing pressure to redevelop land conservation and crops. Agriculture is killing wildlife because the habitats are being taken over by croplands. Deserts and forests are continually being wiped out by developers and investors who are more interested in making money than preserving wildlife. Habitat destruction is increased by the rapidly growing human population. As populations increase, we, as humans tend to demand the use of more agricultural land consumption to build our cities and towns and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Cause And Effect Of The Arctic Sea Ice People know that Human driven climate change (Fiona Harvey, November 25, 2017) has become an international issue which has triggered to warm air temperature. The Arctic, the regions around the North Pole, has huge ice. Since the more the temperature rises, the more ice melt, climate change and the ice melt have extremely a strong connection. Furthermore, a lot of species live below the sea of the Arctic, also there are some people who place their home in this area. As a result, global warming leads to the change of the Arctic sea ice condition which influences the environment and the people of the Arctic. Arctic sea ice has responsibility for stopping the rise of temperature on the earth; however, the expanse of the ice has been decreasing. Arctic sea ice has a significant element on the earth. The ice plays a role of lowering the sea and air temperature like air conditioner (Stevens, F. 2016) by reflecting the heat of the sun back to the universe. This means the ice has the ability of regulating heat. However, the air conditioner has not been working as much as people expect. According to Science Daily, the amount of the Arctic sea ice in 2017 has gotten smaller, 7 million square kilometers in 1970s and 1980s to 4.7 million square kilometers, and the ice thickness has decreased thirty percent compared to between 2001 and 2004 (Alfred Wegener Institute, September 15, 2017). The reduction of the ice extent causes not to fulfill a function as the air conditioner In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Facts Dan and Patrick Zimbrick, sole shareholders of Osprey Corporation have been required to repay compensation to Osprey Corporation that was found by the IRS to be excessive. In order to determine how these repayments are to be treated for tax purposes, it is important to note that in 2006 the board of directors made up of Dan, Patrick and their uncle John, adopted a legally enforceable resolution. The resolution stipulated that any overpayment of salary disallowed as a deduction by the IRS would be repaid to the Osprey Corporation. In late 2010 during an audit by the IRS, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this case, the taxpayer included the excessive compensation in his return for the year the compensation was received. Section 1341 allows a taxpayer the option to choose the more favorable alternative. As written in the case: if the taxpayer included an item in gross income in one taxable year, and in a subsequent taxable year he becomes entitled to a deduction because the item or a portion thereof is no longer subject to his unrestricted use, and the amount of the deduction is in excess of $3,000, the tax for the subsequent year is reduced by either the tax attributable to the deduction or the decrease in the tax for the prior year attributable to the removal of the item, whichever is greater (52 AFTR 2d 83 6071, 718 F2d 193, 83 2 USTC P 9620.). If Dan or Patrick had a higher tax rate in 2007 than in 2011, this credit could result in more tax savings. Because the court had determined that the repayment can be claimed under section 1341 in Van Cleave v. U.S., and the IRS had taken a similar position in Rev. 69 115 1969 1 C.B. 50. Dan and Patrick can claim the repayments to Osprey Corporation as either a credit under Section 1341 or a deduction under section 162(a). II. Problem 2 Four Winds Partnership a. ICAO English Language Proficiency Since the birth of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in 1947, this U.N. funded specialized agency has been a substantial catalyst for the development of standard principles and techniques for international air navigation. In addition, they continue to facilitate the promotion of safety and overall development in the continuum of flight. Undeniably, there is an absolute necessity of mutual understanding between all pilots and controllers. Perhaps the International Civil Aviation Organization s standardization of the English language in aviation in 1951 was one of the most vital advances for flight safety. This official language of aviation, for the most part, kept the skies relatively safe. It would not be until the 70 s come around, when tragedy would hit and the ICAO would have to reevaluate their intervention with communication within aviation. Although English may have been the standard language permeating throughout the skies, the flaws of air traffic communication would soon come into light. Basic misunderstandings turned into colossal circumstances. According to a journal analysis: On March 27th, 1977, after a tiring shift, the Dutch pilot of a Boeing 747 misunderstood a clearance, after take off for a take off clearance and began rolling down a fog covered runway. He announced to the tower that he was at takeoff . The non native English speaking air traffic controller took the at to literally mean at the take off position . However, through fatigue or frustration, the Dutch pilot had performed an error, that only bilingual speakers can call, code switching . It is when one uses two languages concurrently. • 8. Taking a Look at Asian Women Stereotypes 1. Explicit yellowface is that it creates power imbalance between white and Asian/Americans. That it is okay for racial masquerading and playing yellowface, as well as adopting characteristics and behaviors. 2. Implicit yellowface is that only Asians are type cast for these roles and unfortunately, someone has to play the role and most the time it is the Asian actor. This assumption states that Asians/Americans are interchangeable all Asians are the same. 1. By regulating Camptowns by the US military and by Korea (Yuh 18), women were tested for STI s twice a week (Yuh 24). The US military police created this system where if women tested positive they were not informed nor were they informed on who gave them the infection (Yuh 29). These women were harassed by both sides American and Korea for proof that they were tested (Yuh 29). 2. Another example is the US soldiers viewed these women as entertainers. In Vietnam, an installation of prostitution servicing four thousand US soldiers was specially created by and for the benefits of the US soldiers (Yuh 16). The bases will make/have Camptowns, bars, and parlors near so it is easier for GIs to go there. Therefore, it creates and feeds the culture of the sex industry and slavery. • 9. The Movie Orange Is The New Black `` And What I Call A... In its origin, the term antihero referred to the male star of a drama who remained likable despite moral ambiguity (Rabinowitz). For an extended period of time, female antiheros simply did not exist. There was no word for female characters who one was forced to like, regardless of their wolfly characteristics. We simply love them because they are the star of the show. Piper Chapman is exactly this: a character who one only likes because they are the central character in the story, when in reality, they have very questionable morals and are most likely wolves. Alex Rabinowitz, leading figure in entertainment news on social media, defines Piper as the most groundbreaking character on television because of her journey to be what he calls an antihero and what I call a wolf. The two terms seem virtually interchangeable, with the only difference being the audience s feelings towards the character. Chapman is the main character of one of Netflix s greatest hit series, Orange Is The New Black . This series, created and produced by Jenji Kohan, follows the lives of an entire prison full of women who are serving their time in Litchfield Penitentiary, a minimum security women s prison located in upstate New York. All of these women have their own stories and problems that the viewer follows throughout the four current seasons. While watching the episodes, the viewer truly grows to love many of the characters, each in their own unique way. The one character that most people are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Corporate Law And Shareholder Approval Most equity carve outs do not require shareholder approval and require only approval by the parent company s and subsidiary company s boards of directors. More complicated corporate law considerations, particularly those related to fiduciary duties, typically arise following the closing of an equity carve out, especially if the parent retains a significant equity interest in the subsidiary. Shareholder Approval The question of whether shareholder approval is required to implement an equity carve out is determined by state law. While shareholder approval statutes vary by state, most are substantially similar to Delaware s statute, which provides that shareholders must approve a transaction in which a company will sell all or substantially ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most equity carve outs are not large enough to require shareholder approval; if the parent sells less than a majority stake and retains control over the subsidiary, there is a strong argument against needing to obtain shareholder approval. If the parent sells between 50% and 100% of its subsidiary shares, on the other hand, and the subsidiary s business is important to the parent, there is a strong argument in support of needing shareholder approval. The requirement for shareholder approval is significant because proxy materials must be mailed, a shareholder meeting must be organized and approval must be obtained before the transaction can be completed. If the parent s shares are registered under the Exchange Act, proxy materials must comply with Regulation 14A and meet disclosure requirements. While proxy materials should disclose the material terms of the offering, details such as final price and size of the offering are typically not determined until the registration statement is effective, which creates a risk that the parent will not be able to meet its disclosure obligations. Board Approval Approval is typically required by both the parent s and the subsidiary s boards of directors in order to implement an equity carve out. While the specific ... In the past, there were inventions to help humans along their way to living a simple life; but do we really want that, a very simple life, so simple that we will get bored around the house and our things will be done by someone else, or maybe even by something else? Do we want our things, our chores or our work to be done by... computers or technology? The kids obviously don t want that and so they think of getting rid of their boring, old parents that don t listen to them. They ask themselves how they got in this mess and what prompted them to buy a nightmare and come up with the idea that it was pride, money and foolishness (p.129). They thought that because they have money, they should buy this mad man house. Ray Bradbury is telling us that he does not like technology. To make his point, he makes up a futuristic world where people are just useless, lazy and boring. He makes up houses that serve as wife and mother now and nursemaid. (p.119). He really wants us to see that technology, abused, is actually not as good as everyone would imagine. When the Hadleys buy the house and the nursery, they actually buy their own ticket to death. The Millau Viaduct was the product of 17 years of ideas, proposals, planning and designs that resulted in shaving 40 miles off the former route through the region, a boom in local economic development and the completion of the one of the world s most well managed and constructed projects. Thus it means feeling pressed down, sad or low. In the late Middle Ages, religious leaders believed depression was caused by posession of evil spirits. The German religious reformer Martin Luther wrote All heaviness of the mind and melancholy comes of the Devil. Through the years depression has been treated with such remedies as whipping, bloodletting, exorcism and soothing baths. By the 1960s, antidepressant medications were discovered that relieved depression by correcting chemical imbalances in the brain and because of that many scientists started to believe that depression was ... • 15. The Birth Of Florence Nightingale, A Pioneer Of The Modern... May 12, 1820 marked the beginning of a revolutionary and exciting era of nursing characterized by the birth of Florence Nightingale, a pioneer of the modern nursing profession for her work as a nurse, educator, researcher, and an environmentalist in the nursing profession (Alligood, 2014). Nightingale developed a number of nursing theories regarding the environment and effective care for patients and refined her theories to focus on the health of houses, personal hygiene, and petty management (Alligood, 2014). These canons were crucial in the creation of a nursing era focused on health promotion and disease prevention. One preventable disease from Nightingale s time that is still prevalent today is cholera. Cholera is a condition characterized by diarrhea, vomiting, and leg cramps, resulting in severe dehydration or death due to the bacteria, vibro cholerae (Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, 2014). Cholera is spread through consumption of water or food that has been contaminated with fecal bacteria, and as such is preventable through education programs, improved access to clean water, and proper personal hygiene (World Health Organization, 2016). Médecins Sans Frontières uses these measures, in addition to the administration of oral vaccines, to prevent Cholera in South Sudanese refugees. The Effect Of Reflex On Children s Health Introduction: Reflex can defined as an automatic and often inborn response to a stimulus that involves a nerve impulse passing inward from a receptor to a nerve center and thence outward to an effector (as a muscle or gland) without reaching the level of consciousness (Merriam Webster) or more simply put an reaction to an action that our bodies do to return to homeostasis without us having to think about it. Reflexes play an extremely important role in remaining healthy and protecting us from being harmed without having to take the time to think about it. For example, infants have a suck reflex that causes them to start sucking when the roof of their mouths are stimulated; this reflex is obviously important because if infants did not have this reflex, they could die of starvation since they would not be able to draw milk from their mother s breast (this is actually a problem with premature infants as the suck reflex does not develop until between the 32nd and 36th week of pregnancy) (Stanford Children s Health). There are two main types of reflexes the simpler monosynaptic reflexes (or spinal reflexes) that can act without any input from the brain and the more complex superficial reflexes which still requiring some processing from the brain. A reflex consists of five main components, which as a group are called the reflex arc. Component one is the sensory receptor, which receives stimulus and then sends an and impulse to the second component, the afferent pathway. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

DNA is extremely useful when nailing a suspect who it has been traced to. The biological evidence left at a crime scene comes along with a great story that has yet to be told through bodily fluids such as semen, blood or saliva found at the crime scene. • 24. Frederik Schiller s Letters On The Aesthetic Education Of Man The role of art in human life has been studied by several philosophers throughout time. Frederik Schiller (1795 1805), in his Letters On the Aesthetic Education of Man develops the theory of the drives to explain the fragmentation of the human being and places art in a reconciliatory role between man s personal nature and the community. The present essay will discuss in some detail Schiller s theory of the drives, placing the main focus on the role and importance of the play drive in human life, to finally discuss the features in Schiller s theory of play that help elucidate the role of art in human life. According to Schiller, men in modern society experiment a conflict between the cultivation of individual talent and the welfare of their community as a single being. This conflict results in an alienation of the being and its consequent fragmentation. Taking this into account, Schiller states there are two aspects of human nature to be considered: the sense drive and the form drive. The sense, or sensuous drive, is born from man s physical existence, and thrives to achieve constant change of matter within a limit of time (finite). It is man s most primitive state . On the other hand, the form drive, born from man s rational nature, thrives to free man and maintain his person despite all the changes of his condition overlooking a limited time frame (infinite). This duality of human nature brings forth an imbalance in man s nature when one of the senses overpowers the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 30. Threats And Vulnerabilities Of Itrust When discussing the threats and vulnerabilities of iTrust, it is important to identify the security measures to potentially rectify or prevent additional security issues. The iTrust database application presented quite a few threats and vulnerabilities. One threat discussed is the threat of a facility not having the proper equipment needed to run a secure organization. For proper security, an organization may need to invest in equipment or devices that are more secure out of the box. This means that computers and/or devices that are straight out of the box are deemed to be more secure in comparison to a computer/device that have been used. In many cases, though the computer/device may have been swiped clean, it poses a much greater threat if the system was susceptible to certain vulnerabilities before. In addition, with these secure out of the box systems it is important to verify proper installation. Organizations need to be sure that third party vendors are completely authorized to assure the information that is being installed and updated is secure in the hands of vendors/suppliers. Another issue that needs addressing when it comes to security is the configuration that is established in iTrust. The iTrust organization has an issue with user access. When discussing user access configuration, an organization may want to analyze possible configuration management. This would entail having a server administrator that would monitor the content in a repository. In this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
