Factors Affecting Seasonal Affective Disorder
1. Although many studies have focused on individual factors relating to Seasonal Affective Disorder
(SAD), this study sought to extend such research by determining whether cognitive, behavioral and
psychophysiological factors that associate to individuals with nonseasonal depression would correlate
to those of SAD (Rohan, Sigmon Dorhofer, 2003). 2. Before gathering the data, the researchers had a
couple hypotheses in mind. They first hypothesized that women with a history of SAD would
encounter and report more negative thinking as well as reduced activity frequency and enjoyment
during the winter time. Not only that, but they expected that a predicted ruminative response style in
the fall would help foretell the severity of depressive symptoms later during the winter time. The
researchers then went on to assume that women with a history of SAD would ultimately report more
depressed mood and experience greater psychophysiological reactivity as a response to low light
intensity stimuli during the winter time relative to controls. 3. The type of research method involved
was a correlational study, however the researchers ended up taking on a longitudinal, multimethod
approach. Twenty women with a history of SAD and twenty women with equivalent age and
education level were recruited for this study, however two participants dropped out of the study who
had a history of SAD, leaving them with eighteen SAD participants and twenty controls. Each
participant went through

Joe Stowell s Video From The Inside Out
The short videos by Joe Stowell have gotten better each week. I look forward to them as they make
me think in a different direction than I normally would. This week s video, From the Inside Out was
probably the most thought provoking of the five videos. Mr. Stowell is a person that I would enjoy
having lunch with. He seems so at ease when talking about these issues and his delivery is easy to
follow.
He spoke of how Jonah was very determined to disobey God. Jonah said, He would rather die, than do
what God told him to do. Stowell explained that God does not let one get away with that type of
thinking. The story of Jonah described how he planned to disobey God and not follow His
instructions. Jonah was so committed to not follow

Shel Silverstein Research Paper
Shel Silverstein is a very popular children s poetry book author, a songwriter, and a playwright. He
was a very private man who did not entertain interviews and left most of his life in the shadows away
from media attention. Shel Silverstein instilled the love of reading into the hearts of young American
children through his short and silly poems filled with dark humor and outrageous, invented cartoon
characters. Shel Silverstein was born during the Great Depression in 1930 in Chicago, Illinois. He
started drawing at young age, because according to him, he was not popular with the girls and was not
good at sports. (Encyclopedia of WB, 341) He had a unique style of illustration and writing that
mimicked no other author of his time. During the 1950 s he served in the Army in Korea and Japan.
While enlisted he drew cartoons for the Pacific Stars and Stripes magazine. (ECWB, 341) Ironically,
Silverstein never planned on writing children s books. When his enlistment in the Armed Forces ended
he began drawing cartoons and small articles for Playboy magazine. (ECWB, 341) It was not until he
met Ursula Nordstrom that he thought about writing children s books. (ADD CITATION) Shel
Silverstein wrote plays, songs, and many award winning children s book. Sadly, he passed away in
1999 at the age of 67, but his legacy lives on through his still popular ... Show more content on

The cartoons go along with the poems and help the reader visualize as well as further understand the

works on whether his deeper symbolism and dark humor is educational or harmful to

Physician Reimbursement
In the United States, health care has become a huge expense and has threatened the economy;
additional measures need to be taken to address the rising cost of care. An individual spends an
estimated eight thousand dollars a year in health care expenditures. Therefore, we need to recognize
that how a physician reimbursement for payment has a vast impact on the economy and the rising cost
of health care.
Briefly describing the types of physician reimbursement in the United States will explain why health
care cost is more costly than other countries in the world. Beginning with fee for reimbursement
model; this model is fee for service which refers to reimbursement of the physician for every service
that is provided. Physicians have a greater

Thesis About Appeasement
Appeasement is the policy of acceding to the demands of a potentially hostile nation in the hope of
maintaining peace. This is done by giving in to demands of a leader in order to satisfy their short term
goals and avoid conflict. It was a policy used by the leaders of France and Britain with Hitler in the
1930s because they hoped that if they showed understanding and gave Hitler what he asked for, there
would be no reason for fighting or war to break out. Some of the things followed for appeasement that
the Western Leaders did were, When Hitler reoccupied the Rhineland, France did nothing, France and
Britain did not oppose his rebuilding the German military. Britain, in fact, signed a treaty with
Germany allowing them to exceed Treaty of Versailles ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hitler realized that the French and British Leaders were scared of his power and also of war. Hitler
needed more living space for the German people and he thought of taking over Poland. Hitler began
planning the invasion of Poland. After World War I, Poland s army was relatively weak and ill
equipped compared to Germany. To aid in its defense, Poland had formed military alliances with Great
Britain and France. Massing their armies along the Polish border, the Germans staged a fake Polish
attack on August 31, 1939. Using this as a pretext for war, German forces flooded across the border
the next day. On September 3, Great Britain and France issued a warning to Germany to end the
fighting. When no reply was received, both nations declared war. Hitler invaded Czechoslovakia and
Poland before World War 2 but then from 1939 and June 1941 the German army invaded and occupied
many countries like Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg,France, Denmark,Yugoslavia, Greece,
Norway and Western Poland. In Source C (The cartoon from October 1938 by Low) shows a picture
of Hitler as Santa popping every European country into his sack which means Germany over all and
also Hitler realized that nobody could stop

Jane Eyre and Feminism
Charlotte Bronte s novel Jane Eyre embraces many feminist views in opposition to the Victorian
feminine ideal. Charlotte Bronte herself was among the first feminist writers of her time, and wrote
this book in order to send the message of feminism to a Victorian Age Society in which women were
looked upon as inferior and repressed by the society in which they lived. This novel embodies the
ideology of equality between a man and woman in marriage, as well as in society at large. As a
feminist writer, Charlotte Bronte created this novel to support and spread the idea of an independent
woman who works for herself, thinks for herself, and acts of her own accord.
Women of the Victorian era were repressed, and had little if any social stature. ... Show more content

These same characteristics are seen again during the time she works for Mr. Rochester. This is first
seen in chapter 13 and 14 during her first days knowing Rochester. He treats her in a condescending
manner, and is quite rude and disrespectful, insulting her piano playing, art, knowledge, and even her
looks. In many ways he treats her as he would treat one of his servants. Jane is fully aware of
Rochester s arrogance, finding him to be quite unpleasant. Jane replies to him with wit and sometimes
sarcasm, refusing to give into his insulting attacks. One example is her response to one of Rochester s
questions Now ma am, am I a fool? She replies far from it, sir. You would perhaps think me rude if I
inquired in return whether you are a philanthropist? (Bronte, 134) Jane, being assertive as she is,
makes it very clear to Rochester that she will not be treated as a servant.
I don t think sir, that you have the a right to command me, merely because you are older than I, or
because you have seen more of the world than I have; your claim to superiority depends on the use
you have made to your time and experience. (136)
After her shaky introduction to Rochester, Jane and he become good friends. They seem to have a
unique relationship, and Rochester treats Jane increasingly as an equal as it progresses. In the
beginning of this relationship it is almost as

The Fifth Amendment For Theu.s. Constitution Essay
The sixth amendment to the U.S constitution guarantees a defendant in a criminal prosecution the
right to a speedy, public, and impartial trial by jury. Once it has determined that the trial will be by
jury, the next step in the criminal proceeding is the selection of the jurors. During this process possible
jurors receive a summons in the mall ordering them to appear in court at a specified time and date the
people who are summoned comprise the venire (the prospective jurors for cases). Voir dire Latin term
meaning to speak the truth, this is an examination conducted by the courts or by the attorneys of a
potential juror or witness to determine if they would be proficient or qualified for services. Jurors
questionnaires reveals information disqualifying them from jury service is only the first step in the
jury selection process. Typical questions relate to whether prospective jurors know the defendant, the
attorneys, or any of the witnesses, whether they have read or heard about the case in the media, and
whether they have racial, nationality, or gender biases. Effective voir dire is getting the prospective
jurors to tell the court or attorneys what they need to know( Ferdico, J 2005).
During the voir dire process, the way jurors are removed is part logic and part legal strategy. The
judge determines that a potential juror is not likely to be fair to both sides in the case, than the juror
will be excused for cause. There are two possible ways prospective jurors may be

Summary Of The Feminine Mystique
In the The Feminine Mystique, by Betty Friedan, the author begins to question the problem that has no
name, which is, Why are American housewives so unhappy with their supposedly perfect lives ?
Friedan concludes that the reason American housewives are so depressed is that of, the feminine
mystique, society s idea that women s sole purpose in life is to bring pleasure to a man, be a housewife
and mother, but nothing more. In the 50 s and 60 s, all American women had been told their whole
lives is that they shouldn t get a job or follow their dreams, but find a well off husband and start a
family. Now that they have accomplished this, women want more in life than just waiting on their
family, because of the feeling that they are just going through the motions of life. However, society
does not allow women to grow to their full potential and brainwashes the mystique into women s
heads by painting the housewife image as an ideal in women s magazines, ads, signs, etc.
Furthermore, because the mystique is so influential, women not only damage themselves, but their
husbands and children; Women begin to seek their fulfillment through too much sexual intercourse,
which drives the husband away, and is so involved in their children s lives, that they grow up to be
whiny, mother dependent adults. In the end, women finally begin to not only question the feminine
mystique but act against it. Moreover, throughout the story, Friedan s style uses conflict development

Comparison Of Auschwitz, Buchenwald And Dachau
Auschwitz, Buchenwald, Dachau World War II was a terrible, chaotic war with many deaths. Innocent
people were killed, only because they were a different race. During World War II, the Germans/Nazis
absolutely hated the Jews for no good reason. There were prisons built to torture and use Jews for
forced labor. Those prisons were called concentration camps. In World War II, three of these
concentration camps were same of the largest ones created and were called the Auschwitz,
Buchenwald, and the Dachau. The Auschwitz had three main camps and was located 37 miles of
Krakow, the Buchenwald was constructed in 1937 about five miles northwest of Weimar, and the
Dachau was one of the first camps created and has an incident that leads to many deaths. The
Auschwitz camp used its prisoners for forced labor. The Nazis treated the Jews poorly and as of they
were nothing. Ushmm.org states Jewish women who had been assigned to forced labor in a nearby
armaments factory . Between the years 1940 45 out of 1.3 million Jews, 1.1 million died. All of those
innocent people died only because their race was hated by one very powerful, but very convincing
man. After a year of the camp existing, the SS and the police cleared about forty square meters for the
camp. They had all of this cleared by forced labor from the Jews. The Nazis were very cruel to the
Jews and for a certain amount of time this camp was used as a killing center. Those cold hearted

Adam Has Suffered Under Tort Law Essay
) First and foremost, in order for us to claim for the psychiatric damage that Adam has suffered under
tort law, we will have to prove that Adam is either a primary victim or a secondary victim and Adam is
suffered from a recognised psychiatric illness, anxiety and stress will generally not sufficient. Primary
victims are those who directly involved in the event and secondary victims are those who are suffered
a psychiatric illness when someone they know is killed or injured in an accident. A recognised
psychiatric condition is defined as a genuine illness or injury, needed medical evidence and has a long
term effect. Adam might claim as a primary victim in this case, because a primary victim has to suffer
physical injury or at a risk of physical injury and psychiatric injuries. The liability of causing
psychiatric injury depends on foreseeability of physical injury, for example, in the case of Page v
Smith where Mr Page suffered no physical injury but a recurrence of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and
became unable to work, Smith is liable as he could reasonably foresee that Mr Page suffer physical
injury. Adam could claim as a primary victim if Adam is in the zone of physical danger, I firmly
believe that Adam was in the zone of danger at that time because he was seated in the row of the seat
immediately behind their children and the risk of physical injury of Adam was also foreseeable,
therefore, Adam owed a duty of care in relation to psychiatric damage. Besides, the

The Types Of Market Structures
A market structure is where the physical characteristics of the market, where firms interact (). Market
structures can highlight the criteria of firms, and express the barriers that they may face with entering.
There are four types of competition across various market structures. The types of competition are
perfect competition, monopolistic competition, oligopoly, and monopoly. Each types of market
structures are a direct reflection of the current economic market state. When a company assesses
market structures, the company must conduct proper research on the customers, competition, and
costs. Understanding the current nature of the economy is instrumental in the success of the company
in different market structures.

Even in perfect competition market, the demand and supply can shift at any moment. Most of the
time, the shift has already been predicted. Within a perfection competition market, there a different
types of equilibriums. The different types of equilibriums within a perfect completion are the
competitive, long run, and market equilibriums.
The competitive equilibrium emphasizes that a perfect competition has four common characteristics.
The first characteristic of a perfection competition is when a large number of firms produces goods or
service for a market that has a large amount of consumer. The second characteristic of a perfect
competition is that there are no barriers for new firms to enter the markets at any time. The third
characteristic of a perfect competition is all of the firms in the market sell produces that are identical
in nature. The fourth characteristic of perfect competition is that all firms and consumers are price
takers (). This means that the firms will have product for sale at a certain price, and the consumer will
have no problem purchasing the product at that price. Consumers do not influence the prices at all in a
perfect competition.
The long run equilibrium emphasizes that a perfect competition firms can enter and leave a market
whenever they choose to. Long run equilibriums will initially show profits. After a long period of
time, the price will ultimately end up at a stall,

The Sociological Perspective
In chapter one of our book it is talking about the sociological perspective. Sociology is defined as the
systematic study of human society. It is explained that sociological perspective is seeing the common
in the specific. Sociologists look for common patterns in the behavior of certain people. I found it very
interesting in chapter one where it states that higher class white men are more likely to commit suicide
than any other population and that between genders; men are more likely to commit suicide. This is
interesting because I would have thought the roles were reversed. I would have thought that women
are more likely to commit suicide because women are more emotional than men. Later on in the
chapter it goes on to talk about how to apply sociological perspective. It can be applied in three
different ways. It can be applied in one s life, one s work, and in studying sociology. When we apply
sociological perspective to our lives we are more likely to become active and more aware. After
applying sociological perspective we begin to think more critically in our everyday lives. There are
three major theoretical approaches. The structural functional approach is the basic layout for building
theory that sees society as a complex system whose parts work simultaneously to stimulate harmony
and strength. The social conflict approach sees society as a place of inequality that produces struggle
and change. Lastly is the symbolic interaction approach. This approach sees that

Story about Intangible Things Essay examples
Intangibility used to be a focus of mine. I lived for the things that were fleeting and impossible to

beauty in the things you could not touch and could not even grasp your mind around fully. Now I feel
so far removed, I need something to grab on to. I need something I can touch and know is real, solid,
and there something permanent. It is like being stuck in an Impressionist painting. Nothing is solid
because everything is momentary and instantaneous. That was the sort of thing I once reveled in.

as hard as I could. All I wanted to do was block the thoughts and leave my mind in some sort of
nirvana. No such luck. My thoughts kept spinning around and crashing into each other, knocking
things around inside my head. I yearned for the vacancy of sleep but knew it was unattainable. I kept

society. The Viking women s life was usually quite good. They were granted many privileges, even
though the women were treated well and granted a lot of things they were not allowed to join raids or
any trading adventure. They were also not permitted to do many other things such as; having short
hair, carrying swords, or axes, and were not allowed to dress as any man would. When the men
travelled they where expected to work on the farm, cook, prepare food, manage the stock levels in
winter, smoke the fish and meats, make broth, bake bread, produce Ale, make clothes and keep the
family healthy. The women would grow up just like the men of her village learning to live off the land
and be self sufficient. In Viking community the girl was expected to marry between the ages of 12 and
15, run a household and have children of their own. Most marriages where arranged but some girls got
to pick who would be their husband if they were lucky. In the marriage the women would have much
responsibility and could divorce her husband if she pleased. If the family was poor and had no slaves
or servants the men and women s work would be fairly even and the women would have to do a lot
more than the richer women. If the family did own slaves or servants the women could fire the servant
or hire them if she wished. If the slave had a child the child would automatically become the property

An Effective Brand Image Of The Integrated Marketing...
I perceive the best course of action to implements an effective brand image is to have a major
Influencer market the newly developed product in the integrated marketing communications mix.
Since there is a higher rate of social media users, our Influencers will be utilized best here, and on
commercials. Mobile Makreting Inc. is lesser known these days and needs a fresh face to bring them
back to life. There are three Influencers I have in mind as our branding image. The three Influencers
are Brad Pitt, Sandra Bulock, and Emma Watson, or a combination of all three. I choose these three
for specific reasons. For example, they are all three well know around the world and have a large
following. Sandra Bullock s father is from Iraq and could make for better ties to the Middle East, and
Emma Watson is English so the better ties could be in that region using her. The decision is yours.

Population
The population of Kosovo is approximately 1,895,250. The most populated area is their capital
Pristina. It has the population of about 400,000 people which is way more than any other city. The
capital is the most populated area in Kosovo because it is easy to get things distributed to other places.
The population is diverse as it includes ethnic backgrounds of the Albanians, Serbs, Bosnians and
Gorani. There are not many immigrants, but there are some.

Essay On The Cabinet Of Dr Caligari
When one thinks of Germany, he or she would most likely think of Nazi propaganda, Hitler, and
concentration camps. Although these depictions of Germany may be true, they are relatively closed
minded because they only depict a single, relatively dark time period in Germany s history called the
Third Reich. The time periods which portray Germany from the twentieth century to present day are
quite diverse, and German films respective to each time period reflect that diversity. The time periods
include the Weimar Republic, the Third Reich, Germany during the Cold War, and Germany post Cold
War. Therefore, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari portrays Germany s Weimar Republic, Triumph of the

The German mark lost almost all of its value due to inflation, the debt Germany owed to Allied
Powers increased exponentially, and Germany had to liquidate its military. Even though Germany was
falling apart in the year 1919, there was still hope as it miraculously birthed the Weimar Republic,
which lasted until 1933. During this time period, the true state of its people and country were
portrayed through film. One of the most iconic films of the Weimar Republic, The Cabinet of Dr.
Caligari, was released in 1919. This mysterious, yet incredibly confusing film embodied the anxiety
and uncertainty felt by German citizens during the Weimar Republic. Specifically anxiety related to
current and future chaos, and uncertainty related to sanity. In The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, the
protagonist Francis narrates a past experience of his in which he ends up wrongfully locked up in a
psychiatric ward. In this past experience, a man introduced as the somnambulist Dr. Caligari
controlled a man named Cesare, and had Cesare kill people of his choosing. Trying to expose Dr.
Caligari s acts, Francis ends up being locked up in a psychiatric ward. What is odd is that Dr. Caligari
is then shown as the doctor running the psychiatric ward, trying to help Francis with his condition.
The duality of Dr. Caligari symbolized uncertainty and chaos experienced by Germans after World
War I. Like the audience of the film, Germans questioned who was or was not sane. Would the search
for and desire and control by an authoritative figure, like Dr. Caligari, remove the chaos Germans felt?
Or, would that control lead to worse chaos in the

Essay On Texas Salary
The Texas legislature is a bicameral body which is composed of a 31 member Senate and a 150
member House of Representative. The state legislature meets at the capital in Austin. State legislators
in Texas salaries consist of making $600 per month or $7,200 per year. Some people feel their salary is
too low, others feel as though they should raise their salaries to a sustainable career level wage. I
believe the state legislature should not have their salaries raised and I feel they are currently receiving
the amount they deserve. When you take into consideration the amount of work they do and
politicians are not well liked by people, are reasons why their current salary pay is justified.
The members of the Texas state legislature who consider ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In an article titled, How Much Should State Legislators Get Paid by Amelia Thomson DeVeaux, it
discusses the benefits of increasing a state legislator s salary. Peverill Squire, a professor of political
science at the University of Missouri and an expert on state legislatures created a scale which created
to assess professionalism. The question of salaries has haunted American legislatures since the 1640s,
said Squire. With the use of this scale, the question received a possible answer. Politicians found the
state legislatures who meet for longer time periods and give their legislators more resources are
capable of being more productive and doing a better job. ...more resources...are more efficient, passing
a greater percentage of bills overall and enacting more bill per legislative day (Thomson DeVeaux).
Amelia Thomson DeVeaux makes reasonable points in her article on reasons why state legislators
should receive a higher salary however, she didn t take into consideration that politicians are going to
try and make a career out of being a state legislature. With an increased salary, legislatures aren t
necessarily agreeing or promising to work better or efficiently. If they aren t agreeing to doing more or

Malaria Case Study
Following the infected female Anopheles mosquito bite the incubation period varies. The type of
Plasmodium parasite responsible for the infection plays a big factor in the time frame. Antimalarial
drugs may also increase the length of the Malaria incubation period. Estimated time frame is 9 14 days
for Plasmodium falciparum, 12 18 days for Plasmodium vivax and Plasmodium ovale and 18 40 days
for Plasmodium malarie. Delays between exposure and development of symptoms in patients can
result in misdiagnoses or delayed diagnosis because of reduced clinical suspicion of the healthcare
provider (CDC, 2017. It s important to remind healthcare providers of any recent travel within 12

Patients with Plasmodium falciparum and Plasmodium ovale infections may experience additional
relapses after months or even years without symptoms. Relapses occur because these two parasites
have dormant liver stage parasites that may reactivate (CDC, 2017). Treatment to prevent chances of
relapse is available. Patients should follow the treatment of their first attack.
Diagnosis
It is critical to obtain a history of recent or remote travel to an endemic area for patients with
suspected Malaria. Also, it is important to acquire about the patient s immune status, age, pregnancy
status, medications, allergies and any medical conditions he or she may have. Diagnosis of Malaria
depends on the demonstration of parasites in the blood, usually by microscopy (CDC, 2017). Workup
for Malaria depends on patient s chief complaint. Patients will get labs drawn to check their
hemoglobin, liver function, renal function, electrolytes, and white blood cells. Rapid HIV test may be
ordered in select cases. There are alternative diagnostic methods to blood smear testing. Alternative
methods are typically used if laboratory does not have sufficient experience in detecting parasites in
blood smears. Rapid diagnostic tests give results within 15 20 minutes and are considered qualitative
tests. These tests detect one or more of the following antigens; Histidine rich protein 2, Plasmodium
Lactate Dehydrogenase and Aldolase. Three other alternative tests are molecular techniques

1930 s Isolationism In Canada
Isolationism was a very important topic during the times before Canada. Isolationism is the policy
where a country avoid alliances and affairs with foreign countries ( Isolationism ), in this case it was
Canada distancing themselves because of how insignificant they were in the League of Nations, its
gaining of autonomy made it physically detached and the Great Depression intensified it (
Isolationism ). The listed factors caused isolationism which delayed Canada s participation in the war.
The reason to why it was such a significant topic to Canadians in the late 1930 s is the outcome of
their decision, they can chose to help and try to defeat the Axis Powers to secure peace or continue to

The background are grey and other dark colours representing the mood of the that time since it was
fairly grim and not a happy time during the depression and right before an impending war. The
painting tells the perspective of an isolationist who do not see the consequences of ignoring the
overseas war. The character in the painting can be seen as a wife and husband, and a soldier against an
enemy soldier, to put deeper meaning it would be the wife representing isolationists, the husband
representing Canada (Canadian politicians) and the two soldiers with one being the Canadian army
and the other the enemy. The story in the painting is that the wife/isolationist tries to keep her
husband/Canada to stay on the other side, the safer side, whereas the monsters fear, duty, and guilt
continues to pester and haunt the husband pulling him to choose to go to battle. He fears the advances
of the axis powers, is guilty of the sacrifices that have been made so far just so they don t have to fight
and feel responsible as a Canadian, as a nation to protect the peace of the world. The setting is half in
Canada right before the decision of war was made and the other half on enemy territory for war as that
would be the result of entering war many deaths, sacrifices , and lots of bloodshed hence the red
droplet shaped items on the right side. And this is the story behind my painting on

Diversity in Three Voices
Diversity in Three Voices Scientist When working with individuals from different cultures, individuals
informally learn the differences that exist between them and their respective cultures (DeCenzo
Silhanek, 2001, p. 29). Often the word diversity is confused with political correctness or human
equality but it is the understanding of differences between people and how they interact. Diversity is
defined as the quality of being different but composed of distinct elements or qualities (Parvis, 2005,
p. 15). Throughout history the United States has been known as the melting pot, but this concept was a
perception not a reality because the melting pot ended up benefiting only white, prominent settlers.
Looking at diversity is observing differences and there are a lot of them. For example, male versus
female, religion versus no religion, homosexual versus heterosexual, foreign or domestic, republican
versus democrat, Caucasian versus African American, Mexican versus Latino, Cherokee Indian versus
Choctaw Indian, poor versus rich; and differences could encompass several more pages. We can deny
that differences exist or we can consent to differences while discovering from others the assets of
dissimilarity. People must learn, therefore, to recognize differences in others their backgrounds,
customs, and work schedules and appreciate, even celebrate, those differences (DeCenzo Silhanek,
2001, p. 29). Artist When it is blatantly obvious that you don t fit it with

Effects Of Secret Sin In The Minister s Black Veil
The Harrowing Effects of Secret Sin in The Minister s Black Veil Throughout the short story, The
Minister s Black Veil, Reverend Hooper has a secret sin that is depicted as a mystery to the characters
within the story and the readers, but teaches a parable. He wears the black veil for the rest of his life,
even on his deathbed: an example in the literal sense for a spiritual sentiment. The crux of the parable
is that every person dons a black veil, perhaps not physically, but spiritually. Hooper continually
expresses that everyone hide sins and should fear one another instead of being terrified of his visually
expressed sin as he had the audacity to wear a black crape, partially covering his face, for the rest of
his mortal life. In The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Economic Economy Of Australia
Every year, the statistical organization of each country will count the gross domestic product (GDP) of
the country, and calculate the growth rate compared with other countries. In general, GDP growth has
become an important manifestation of the country s comprehensive national strength. In economics,
GDP is an important index of a country s economic health. It is important because each component of
GDP will represent in daily life. In Australia, GDP growth dependent on its service sector,

For different purpose, the different GDP frames will be used. Real GDP is the value of final goods and
services produced in a given year when valued at the prices of a reference base year; Nominal GDP is
the value of final goods and services produced in a given year when valued at the prices of that year.
The maximum level of real GDP that can be produced while avoiding shortages of labour, capital, land
and entrepreneurial ability that would bring rising inflation is called potential GDP (McTaggart,
Findlay Parkin, 2012). In this essay, GDP stands for real GDP, and real GDP can be calculated by
either the expenditure approach or the income approach. In this essay, the expenditure approach will
be used. Aggregate expenditure describes the relationship between total consumption and national
income. It can be calculated with a formula: AE = C + I + G + NX. In this formula, the C stands for
household consumption, the I stands for investment expenditure, the G stands for government
expenditure and the NX stands for net export expenditure. The change of these components will
eventually affect real GPD. The expenditure approach is important because it can tell the government
of consumers demand so that the government can better allocate resources. It can also convey the
economic situation signals to the central bank to help them to carry out macroeconomic regulation and
control. The figure 1 below shows the aggregate expenditure

Effective Appraisal Approaches And Its Influence On...
In business, the word of investment can be defined as the outflow of money for the purchase of

by owner in order to improve future business. (Kahraman, 2011) Moreover, the part of decision
making preforms a crucial role in business investment that depends upon the investor s profit
expectation, the availability to finance the investment and the potential cost of asset. (Virlics, 2013)

average of weight of all possible outcomes under certain circumstance. (Investopedia organization,

their potential outcomes, where the utilities of an outcome measures the extent to which that outcome
is preferred to the alternatives. The utility of each outcome is weighted depending on the probability
of which outcome will it be led to. (Stanford University, 2014)

evaluates an outcome based on the alternation of total resources and judges by gains and losses that
related to the status. (Wen, 2010) Under prospect theory, value is allocated to gains and losses rather

but if you or others borrow this or that and not replace the items then over time your supplies will

It is a good idea to keep a master list of all items so you can do a quick scan before purchasing

bad idea in some cases, but if finances are tight, you could spend the money on an item you do not

The master list should show the date of purchase, adding what the item cost is an option as well. Then

tell you that an item needs to be rotated into daily use before it is wasted. With this information you

The PMBOK Guide (Project Management Institute, 2008) states that the statement of work (SOW)
should be written to be complete, clear and concise; it should include details of any services to be
required as well as specific content and format requirements for the procurement. (p. 326) While this
is meant to provide for the best vendor selection, at times my clients have not considered the SOW to
be as important as it is and not having a properly defined SOW has hindered selection of the most
effective vendor. Contracting officers can only go off what has been given to them and if the SOW is
not clear, or is missing, the vendor selected through the evaluation criteria may not meet actual
expectations.
The PMBOK Guide (Project Management Institute, 2008) defines procurement documents as those
documents which are used to gather proposals from potential bidders during the solicitation process.
These can be collected under request for information (RFI), invitation for bid (IB), request for
proposal (RFP), request for quotation (RFQ), invitation for negotiation, tender notice or invitation for
seller s initial response. (p. 326) In my business, we generally use RFPs that follow very strict

Platypus Essay Platypi, Platypodes, Platypoda, and Platypuses. There are many different ways to say
Platypus, however, my personal favorite is Platypoda. Platypodes are one of the strangest mammals
because they lay eggs. They have so many interesting adaptations. In this essay I ll be going over three
of my personal favorites; their bill, their venom, and their ability to sweat milk. I ll be starting with
their bill. It greatly resembles a duck bill, but it is significantly different. Duck bills are hard and used
to catch fish, so it has to be strong enough to hold a fish. However, with platypi, their bill is a lot
longer and is only meant to catch worms, shrimp, and other small creatures. Therefore, the platypus
bill, unlike a duck bill, is rubbery and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During mating season the males sweat gland also starts to produce venom that comes out the Spurs in
their back legs. It only comes around in mating season because it s meant for fighting other male
platypi to get to the females. It hasn t killed any people yet; the worst recorded case was when a 57
year old man lost a lot of muscles in his hand and had constant pain for a little over three months. It s
been described as long lasting excruciating pain that cannot be relieved with painkillers because you
can t get rid of it unless you use anesthesia. Not even morphine would help. Platypus venom isn t
deadly like the black widow, but some parts in the platypus venom do closely resemble a lot of spider
venom along with reptiles and even sea anemones. I thought it was weird that platypi only had venom
during mating season, what if they need to protect themselves? Well even if they don t have venom
year round they do have spurs. If they ever need to protect themselves then they can still stab their
attacker. Their spurs can even come off of their foot and stay inside their predator making it so if they
never get it out they ll have a major

Essay On British Imperialism
Consolidating the British Empire:
The British Empire was an empire on which the sun never set. Lasting for over three hundred years,
Britain became the global hegemonic power of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. From the wilds
of Australia, to the fertile lands of Africa, the British Empire ruled over a quarter of the world s
population. With the empire ever expanding, visual and material culture became relied upon to help
consolidate the empire. Overall, whether an advertisement for soap, or the funeral for Dr. Livingstone,
visual and material culture was at the forefront of British imperialism.
Although Britain abolished slavery in 1833, the shackles of racism remained. In the late nineteenth
and early twentieth centuries, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With soap seen as a magical medium capable of enforcing or enlarging British power in the colonial
world... (McClintock, 225), by buying the soap, Brits could actively partake in imperialism without
having to go across the globe.
As aforementioned, with the abolishment of slavery, scientific racism emerged. As seen in the political
cartoon, Am I not a Man or a Brother? , negative stereotypes emerged comparing Africans to simians.
Created as a satire of the monogenetic vs. polygenetic debate, the cartoon makes fun of the abolition
slogan Am I not a Man or a Brother? . Asserting Africans inferiority on a sub human level, the cartoon
brings into question the entire abolition movement. Why grant freedom to a race of people that are no
more biologically separate from an ape? Africans were seen by many as a different species... (Pettit,
45).
The negative stereotype of Africans to apes is seen throughout the visual culture of Great Britain.
However, the image of simians, was used to depict other negative stereotypes such as working women
as seen in the Monkey Brand Soap Ad. In the Monkey Brand Soap Ad, we see a monkey extending a
frying pan to catch the few dollars spared by passerbys. Monkey Brand Soap promised... to magically
erase the unseemly spectacle of women s manual labor (McClintock , 215). During the Victorian Era,
women were not to inhabit the private sphere, doing domestic work in the home. For women who
worked publicly

Accounting Is All About The Way In Which Corporations Record
Accounting is all about the way in which corporations record their revenues and assets over a certain
period of time. Although the notion may exist that accounting is merely a recording function, this is
not entirely true. Rather, accountants also analyze the cost structure of certain transactions and play a
strong role in the strategy formulation of mergers acquisitions, for example. Other responsibilities of
accountants include such activities as managing information systems, tracking financial performance,
and assessing tax strategies. Accounting is an exciting career path that affords various opportunities in
terms of career direction. One can enter the field of auditing, progress into taxation, or transition into
management ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The level of skill required to practice accounting is dependent on the specific position. Generally
speaking, however, most positions will require the ability to analyze information and synthesize it.
Accountants must be able to defend their position with logical reasoning, and use their communication
skills to exhibit fluency in their ability to discern between quality and faulty financial statements.
When one begins a career in accounting, he or she can expect a culture based on teamwork. The path
begins from the position of a junior member. This member must be able to function as an independent
thinker, as many analyses performed will be at the discretion of his or her manager. Furthermore, the
junior member must be able to handle the auditing function and prepare financial statements. If he or
she possesses these traits, the junior member can expect a bright career. Recently, growth in
accounting has increased the number of job openings in the field. This is supported by bureau of labor
statistics which demonstrate the growth. Although the competitiveness has also been enhanced, if a
person comes into accounting with the right skills and business education, then he or she is positioned
for a career of personal and professional development. Some of the top firms include KPMG, Ernst
and Young, Deloitte and Touche, Price WarterhouseCoopers, Grant Thornton, BDO Seidman, and
McGladerly and Pullen. Usually, these firms hire college

  • 2. Factors Affecting Seasonal Affective Disorder 1. Although many studies have focused on individual factors relating to Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), this study sought to extend such research by determining whether cognitive, behavioral and psychophysiological factors that associate to individuals with nonseasonal depression would correlate to those of SAD (Rohan, Sigmon Dorhofer, 2003). 2. Before gathering the data, the researchers had a couple hypotheses in mind. They first hypothesized that women with a history of SAD would encounter and report more negative thinking as well as reduced activity frequency and enjoyment during the winter time. Not only that, but they expected that a predicted ruminative response style in the fall would help foretell the severity of depressive symptoms later during the winter time. Mr. Stowell is a person that I would enjoy having lunch with. He seems so at ease when talking about these issues and his delivery is easy to follow. He spoke of how Jonah was very determined to disobey God. Jonah said, He would rather die, than do what God told him to do. Charlotte Bronte herself was among the first feminist writers of her time, and wrote this book in order to send the message of feminism to a Victorian Age Society in which women were looked upon as inferior and repressed by the society in which they lived. This novel embodies the ideology of equality between a man and woman in marriage, as well as in society at large. Summary Of The Feminine Mystique In the The Feminine Mystique, by Betty Friedan, the author begins to question the problem that has no name, which is, Why are American housewives so unhappy with their supposedly perfect lives ? Friedan concludes that the reason American housewives are so depressed is that of, the feminine mystique, society s idea that women s sole purpose in life is to bring pleasure to a man, be a housewife and mother, but nothing more. In the 50 s and 60 s, all American women had been told their whole lives is that they shouldn t get a job or follow their dreams, but find a well off husband and start a family. Now that they have accomplished this, women want more in life than just waiting on their family, because of the feeling that they are just going through the motions of life. However, society does not allow women to grow to their full potential and brainwashes the mystique into women s heads by painting the housewife image as an ideal in women s magazines, ads, signs, etc. Furthermore, because the mystique is so influential, women not only damage themselves, but their husbands and children; Women begin to seek their fulfillment through too much sexual intercourse, which drives the husband away, and is so involved in their children s lives, that they grow up to be whiny, mother dependent adults. In the end, women finally begin to not only question the feminine mystique but act against it. Moreover, throughout the story, Friedan s style uses conflict development and ... Primary victims are those who directly involved in the event and secondary victims are those who are suffered a psychiatric illness when someone they know is killed or injured in an accident. Adam might claim as a primary victim in this case, because a primary victim has to suffer physical injury or at a risk of physical injury and psychiatric injuries. The liability of causing psychiatric injury depends on foreseeability of physical injury, for example, in the case of Page v Smith where Mr Page suffered no physical injury but a recurrence of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and became unable to work, Smith is liable as he could reasonably foresee that Mr Page suffer physical injury. Adam could claim as a primary victim if Adam is in the zone of physical danger, I firmly believe that Adam was in the zone of danger at that time because he was seated in the row of the seat immediately behind their children and the risk of physical injury of Adam was also foreseeable, therefore, Adam owed a duty of care in relation to psychiatric damage. This is interesting because I would have thought the roles were reversed. I would have thought that women are more likely to commit suicide because women are more emotional than men. Later on in the chapter it goes on to talk about how to apply sociological perspective. It can be applied in three different ways. It can be applied in one s life, one s work, and in studying sociology. When we apply sociological perspective to our lives we are more likely to become active and more aware. After applying sociological perspective we begin to think more critically in our everyday lives. There are three major theoretical approaches. The structural functional approach is the basic layout for building theory that sees society as a complex system whose parts work simultaneously to stimulate harmony and strength. The social conflict approach sees society as a place of inequality that produces struggle and change. Lastly is the symbolic interaction approach. This approach sees that ... • 25. Essay On The Cabinet Of Dr Caligari When one thinks of Germany, he or she would most likely think of Nazi propaganda, Hitler, and concentration camps. Although these depictions of Germany may be true, they are relatively closed minded because they only depict a single, relatively dark time period in Germany s history called the Third Reich. The time periods which portray Germany from the twentieth century to present day are quite diverse, and German films respective to each time period reflect that diversity. The time periods include the Weimar Republic, the Third Reich, Germany during the Cold War, and Germany post Cold War. The German mark lost almost all of its value due to inflation, the debt Germany owed to Allied Powers increased exponentially, and Germany had to liquidate its military. Even though Germany was falling apart in the year 1919, there was still hope as it miraculously birthed the Weimar Republic, which lasted until 1933. During this time period, the true state of its people and country were portrayed through film. One of the most iconic films of the Weimar Republic, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, was released in 1919. This mysterious, yet incredibly confusing film embodied the anxiety and uncertainty felt by German citizens during the Weimar Republic. Specifically anxiety related to current and future chaos, and uncertainty related to sanity. In The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, the protagonist Francis narrates a past experience of his in which he ends up wrongfully locked up in a psychiatric ward. In this past experience, a man introduced as the somnambulist Dr. Caligari controlled a man named Cesare, and had Cesare kill people of his choosing. Trying to expose Dr. Caligari s acts, Francis ends up being locked up in a psychiatric ward. What is odd is that Dr. Caligari is then shown as the doctor running the psychiatric ward, trying to help Francis with his condition. The duality of Dr. Caligari symbolized uncertainty and chaos experienced by Germans after World War I. Like the audience of the film, Germans questioned who was or was not sane. Would the search for and desire and control by an authoritative figure, like Dr. Caligari, remove the chaos Germans felt? Or, would that control lead to worse chaos in the ... The state legislature meets at the capital in Austin. State legislators in Texas salaries consist of making $600 per month or $7,200 per year. • 32. Diversity in Three Voices Diversity in Three Voices Scientist When working with individuals from different cultures, individuals informally learn the differences that exist between them and their respective cultures (DeCenzo Silhanek, 2001, p. 29). Often the word diversity is confused with political correctness or human equality but it is the understanding of differences between people and how they interact. Diversity is defined as the quality of being different but composed of distinct elements or qualities (Parvis, 2005, p. 15). Throughout history the United States has been known as the melting pot, but this concept was a perception not a reality because the melting pot ended up benefiting only white, prominent settlers. Looking at diversity is observing differences and there are a lot of them. For example, male versus female, religion versus no religion, homosexual versus heterosexual, foreign or domestic, republican versus democrat, Caucasian versus African American, Mexican versus Latino, Cherokee Indian versus Choctaw Indian, poor versus rich; and differences could encompass several more pages. We can deny that differences exist or we can consent to differences while discovering from others the assets of dissimilarity. He wears the black veil for the rest of his life, even on his deathbed: an example in the literal sense for a spiritual sentiment. The maximum level of real GDP that can be produced while avoiding shortages of labour, capital, land and entrepreneurial ability that would bring rising inflation is called potential GDP (McTaggart, Findlay Parkin, 2012). In this essay, GDP stands for real GDP, and real GDP can be calculated by either the expenditure approach or the income approach. In this essay, the expenditure approach will be used. Aggregate expenditure describes the relationship between total consumption and national income. It can be calculated with a formula: AE = C + I + G + NX. In this formula, the C stands for household consumption, the I stands for investment expenditure, the G stands for government expenditure and the NX stands for net export expenditure. The change of these components will eventually affect real GPD. The expenditure approach is important because it can tell the government of consumers demand so that the government can better allocate resources.
