Impact Of Globalisation On Higher Education
Globalisation is the evolution of society which affect human life, education is one of those, especially
in postgraduate degrees which receive the most influence from globalisation. The development in
technologies and communication have produced a shift in learning system which affect cultures and
national economic growth. Higher education systems has been transformed by globalisation, which is
the widening, deepening and speeding up of worldwide interconnectedness (Held et al., 1999, p.14).
When examining the impact of globalisation on higher education all over the world, the positive and
negative aspects of this phenomenon have been widely mentioned. Some writers argue that
globalisation has the destructive effect to the postgraduate system in developing nations and non
English speaking developed nations (Marginson, 2006). Although the downsides of globalisation to
higher education remain highly controversial, the occurrence of this phenomenon could significantly
encourage national universities and governments to develop their standard of higher education which
will benefit to students (Damme, 2001). Globalisation could increase cultural exchange and
multicultural reality as well. This article sets out to analyse critically the overview of globalisation and
how it has valuable effects to higher education in long terms.
There are a large number of definitions for Globalisation which could have different meaning for
different people. According to Knight (2001), it

The Good Old Days Research Paper
We all have heard the term the good old days but does that actually exist or is that idea more of an
illusion?
Good old days is a relative term, for some the good old days come at a different time or include
different variables. Usually assumed to be seen through a child s eyes where the world seems much
more innocent, life was simple. As we move on as a society the past will always seem easier that the
present because this problems have already been solved.
I ve heard people say that the 1920 s were the good old days in the United States because it was a
prosperous time in the economy, but the 20 s had their own problems. The prohibition was in full
swing during this time an edit caused crime and created a massive underground market

Because I Could Not Stop For Death Essay
Death can be perceived in many different ways. Most people would describe death as frightening,
cold, and dark. But, it is really the unknown that causes us to question it. It is inevitable, a fate that we
all must come to terms with. In these two literary pieces, death comes in different but relatable forms.
Both characters when facing death, has similar reactions but different outcomes. They give us a sense
of ease that we wouldn t feel when thinking about death. The poem, Because I could not stop for
Death by Emily Dickinson, describes death as kind and patient. The character states that she could not
stop for death, so death kindly stopped for her. In this poem death seems to sympathize that she doesn
t want to die. Death is in no rush to take her life, but instead reminisces about her childhood while
passing a school yard. Death seemed to be gentle in taking the characters life and knew no haste
during the last stroll of her life. In the play Death Knocks by Woody Allen, death is perceived as
funny, clumsy, and sarcastic. The first part of the play death is introduced by falling through the
window into a house. Nat isn t scared of death, but thinks someone is ... Show more content on

Instead they were reluctant about it. In Because I could not stop for death she described herself as
being too busy to die. Like Nat, she felt that it wasn t her time to die. So she traded her labor and
leisure for his civility. It seems she was more accepting of death when she felt more comfortable with
him. Nat bargains with death to stay alive with a game of gin rummy. Unlike the character from the
poem, Nat beats death and lives for another day. He never accepted his fate to die. At the end he stills
thinks someone was playing a joke on him. The character in the poem has already met her fate and
reflects back to the day that death came for her. Even after centuries she can recall every detail about
her encounter with

Idaho Minor Body Art Regulations Essay
The overall policy explains the overall key points of how parental consent is required for tattooing,
branding, and body piercing for anyone under the age of eighteen (Idaho Code 18 1523. (2004). It is
explained throughout the bill, of how no one under the age of fourteen may acquire any form of
tattooing, branding, or body piercing; as well, that no person should knowingly tattoo, brand or
perform body piercings on a minor between the ages of fourteen and eighteen years unless the person
obtains previous written informed consent of the minor s parent or legal guardian (Idaho Code 18

(2004). The punishment for the subsequent violation within the first year of this section is that the
violator shall be fined at least $500 and not more than $1,000 (Idaho Code 18 1523. (2004). The
policy was first written and published as If there is a health and safety issue, we should be regulating
the business so it protects all adults and children (Spokesman Review, 2004). Policy History/
Background
An Estimated 40 year ago those who received tattoos and various forms of body art were only
prisoners, outlaw motorcycle gangs and those who were in the armed forces (Taylor, 2012). As more
people demanded more ink, more businesses were opened, some tattoo artists began to fear the spread
of blood borne pathogens such as hepatitis (Taylor, 2012). If you do not know whom you are going to
or what you are getting done, anywhere in Idaho, it is a risky situation (Taylor, 2012). The minor
could be put in a real high risk situation; a number of tattoo artists were calling for government
intervention. The reasoning is that, the health department needs to step in, so tattoo parlors that do not
take safety into account, can get shut down (Taylor, 2012).
There are disagreements from those who are considered adults, such as those who are tattoo and other
body art artists, who believe that minors do not understand the responsibility of acquiring a tattoo and
are not emotionally mature enough to receive one (Burnside, 2013).

Chaos in Ukraine
War, chaos, depression, and corruption are some of the words to describe the chaos in Ukraine. Since
the 3 billion Eurobond lent to Ukraine by Russia weren t paid off the money, revolution was sparked
within the citizens of Ukraine and slowly erupting into something many people fear will start another
catastrophic event in Europe. Even with the strong support of NATO, the North Atlantic Treaty
Organization; Ukraine has but only two options, to move to E.U. or to move to the support of Russia,
and the citizens are divided in half, the east and west, one side wanting to merge with Russia and the
other wanting to merge with E.U.. And with Russia already annexing Crimea, which is located below
Ukraine and Russia has tens of thousands troops lined up on the border and NATO not knowing what
they should do, Ukraine is up in flames. Also with the president of Ukraine Yanokovych leaving and
rejecting office unofficially to escape, leaving the balance of Ukraine in the hand of new president
Oleksandr Twrchynov in charge of the disaster of what is now leading to an official civil war. The
question is who is going to take action and when? NATO wanting to prevent a potential World War
really doesn t have any idea what they should do. And what does Russia even want from Ukraine?
E.U. is trying to do everything possible to not take action, but from news reporters perspectives, these
events could also relate to 1939 when Hitler took over all these nations and said the reason was that he

Proposal for Integrating Technology in a Childcare Professional Development Course
Introduction
The proposal for integrating technology is designed for the course being used by the Marine Corp
Childcare Program staff to give them comprehensive , performance based training on how to plan and
carry out developmentally appropriate out of school and all day programs for children from six weeks
through six grade. The course is offered in the form of fifteen modules developed by Teaching
Strategies for the Army Childcare Program and adopted by the United States Marine Corps. The
original course was published in January of 1994 and has been in use ever since. The course trains the

Together, these learners can come up with best ways to positively interact with the children in their
development as well as how to deal with issues when they occur. If there are pictures shown on the
smart board how to set up a classroom and the trainers explaining the rationale behind why the
classroom needs to be set up that way, the trainers will have then reached program assistants with
different styles of learning all at once.
With the program assistants being provided with laptops, they can easily access the resources on their
own time as well as use the laptops with the smart board when there is interactive learning going on.
Another way in which the laptops could be used, is to assist the program assistants to work on projects
individually and then discussing and working on these projects as a group on the smart board.

The Importance Of Having A Car On Students
Being a freshman at Regis is not easy, due to are already at a disadvantage of not having your car on
campus; thus, a reliable source of transportation is a losing battle. Although we have a shuttle that
brings us to and from Riverside and the Natick Mall the scheduled times are not beneficial. Regis
should have the shuttle be more accessible to students more frequently. As a freshman who is not
allowed to have a car on campus I find it inconvenient that the shuttle to the Natick Mall comes every
three to five hours.
A major aspect of a college education is students learning independence and freedom; therefore
creating a schedule at the students disposal will allow them to learn that independence and gain that
freedom.

As stated, Framingham State has shuttles that stop at multiple locations, which allows students to
explore their surrounding community. Besides going to Natick Mall and Riverside Train Station, the
Regis shuttle should include AMC Theater, Shopper s World, and Target. Many would argue that
AMC Theater is very close in distance to the Natick Mall, and may ask why the passengers of the
shuttle cannot walk to the theater? An intersection similar to the one behind the mall can get busy and
is very dangerous at night if one is not careful. Adding Shopper s World being added as a destination
shuttle s route would be beneficial to the students taking it because there are so many stores in the
shopping area. Therefore, it would limit the amount of time and money a student will spend on going
to multiple stores via uber or public transportation. Another location that the shuttle should go to is
Target; target is a store that every college student should have at their disposal, since it is a store that
has everything a college student uses in their daily lives. Another flaw in Regis transportation system
is that the shuttle does not come to and from Regis frequent enough. Although Framingham State has
a bigger population, their shuttle comes frequent enough to support all of its students. The
inconvenient times our Regis shuttle is available is at times where it is difficult for students to enjoy a

How Does Liesel Use Language In The Book Thief
In the novel The Book Thief, written by Markus Zusak, there is a strong presence surrounding words.
I was amazed by this presence through Liesel s relationship to books, the power of words, and
language that is affected by the Holocaust. I was amazed by how Liesel overcomes Hitler s
suppression and teaches others about language and words. The presence of words is shown through
Liesel s relationship to books. We see Liesel develop throughout the novel from a powerless girl to a
more mature, empowered girl, this is, in part, due to her relationship with books. Liesel s first
encounter with a book is just after her brother dies. At this moment, Liesel is powerless, we see this
because she is unable to read the book she picks up. Later in the ... Show more content on

It relied on mass communication to convey its message of hate and to mobilize a nation in its service.
However, The Book Thief focuses on using language to heal, save, and fight against the injustice.
Liesel talks about the power of words in an attempt to provide comfort and distraction. She says His
first plan to attack was to plant words.... He watched them grow, until eventually, great forest of words
had risen throughout Germany.. It was a nation of farmed thoughts. pg. 475. The author sets many
reminders of language within the novel. An example of this is when Liesel and Hans write on the back
of sandpaper and the newspaper becomes imprinted against Hans s skin. Liesel, Hans and Max made a
dictionary on the wall in the basement, writing new words up when they learnt them. This amazes me
because it shows the dedication and will to learn that Liesel has, and passes onto others throughout the
novel. Max s story shows the author s ideas about the power of words by showing that Hitler is
someone who uses language for evil purposes, while Liesel loves language and is able to resist Hitler
through reading and writing her own

Cicero s First Catilinarian Oration Essay
Cicero s First Catilinarian Oration: A Rhetorical and Literary Analysis
The pen is mightier than the sword. As a youth, I disagreed with this statement. How could a pen ever
defeat a sword? Over time, I have come to understand how words and speech can influence
generations more than just fear or force. Cicero s speeches are prime examples of how rhetoric is more
powerful than military prowess or use of arms. His rhetoric influenced public policy and successive
generations. Unlike Caesar and Pompey, he had no significant military command yet; his reputation
was just as strong. Cicero s general objectives in the First Catilinarian Oration were to portray Catiline
as a traitor, achieve support for an action against Catiline, and protect himself from any repercussions.
To demonstrate this rhetoric I will analyze sections 3 and 4 from his First Catilinarian Oration. I have
choses these sections because they best show how Cicero uses rhetoric to achieve his objective. In
order to classify and understand Cicero s rhetoric, first I will define the kinds of speech and parts of
rhetoric. Second, I will analyze his rhetoric by commenting on his chosen rhetorical techniques and
topics.
According to Aristotle, there are three kinds of speech: deliberative oratory, forensic oratory, and
epideictic oratory. Cicero s First Catilinarian Oration falls mainly under the deliberative oratory
category but, has elements of forensic and epideictic oratory. Deliberative oratory is any rhetoric

The Importance Of Religions In Advertising
In today s culture, everyone can see advertisements anywhere promoting products, people, or ideas.
Advertisements are found on billboards, radio, television, newspapers, logos on the sides of drinks,
and even in restrooms. Ads are used to make people think that this is a must, to make them think that
they need this or that they have to start doing this and that they should to be like this person or follow
them. In America, we have freedom of religion, meaning that anyone can be of any religion or not
follow any religion at all if they chose without being harassed or persecuted for their beliefs. God and
various religions should not be used in promoting products, people and/or ideas.
Companies use advertisements to promote their products with the basic principle that their product is
the best in the market. God and various religions should not be used in advertising products because it
is ethically wrong. If a company used God or a certain religion to promote their products they are
basically saying that they know the direct word of God. They are also saying that the beliefs of one
religious group s teachings and including the thoughts of the members of the religion are all in
agreement of that specific product, that it is the best. This approach is not only wrong in the ethical
sense but also it could deeply offend many different cultures and religious groups. It is also not a good
financial decision for the company to make. If one company promoted one of their products with

The Sixth Amendment was instituted to protect the rights of the accused, but the play 12 Angry Men

The story Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief and the Olympians is a similar modern day telling to
the Danaüs, Perseus and the Gorgon through events, archetypes and theme.
The two heroes in these story go through very similar events. Both Percy Jackson and Perseus fight
medusa but in different scenarios. In the text of Perseus s story it says, Perseus swooped down, and
with one deft stroke he cut off the Medusa s head. (D aulaires, 118) In Percy Jackson and the
Lightning Thief, Percy Jackson and his friends fight Medusa in a garden store that is filled with
statues. (Percy Jackson) This modernizes the older story because it is more realistic that Medusa
would hide in an area full of statues, since Medusa turns people into stone it is a good hiding place for
her. They both saved their mom from an evil/bad man. In the text it said, As soon as the king had
gotten rid of Perseus, he had tired to carry Danaë. (D aulaires, 120) In Percy Jackson and the

The Pan African Consciousness
I know no national boundary where the Negro is concerned. The whole world is my province until
Africa is free (Garvey). These words by Marcus Garvey perfectly illustrate the spirit of unification that
characterized the attitude of many people of African Descent as a direct result of the callous treatment
that Africa as a whole suffered at the hands of Europeans. Europe not only ravished Africa of a
significant resource in the millions of lives that it stole and enslaved. Europe also pillaged the
continent with the brutal institution of colonization. The manacles of colonization inspired great

It is at this point that Cesaire argues the permanent malnutrition is introduced. This production of cash
crops led to famine in the lands of The Congo and thusly caused permanent damage in the lives of the
colonized. This damage led to the aspect of the Pan African movement that celebrated Africa. One
very important idea pushed by Marcus Garvey, who is known as the father of the Pan African
Movement, is that Africa was the ancestral home and spiritual cradle of all African descended peoples,
the scene of past and future glory ( Lynch 31). Garvey thought it was very important that the continent
be freed from tyrannous European imperialist grasp (Lynch 31). The ideas that Garvey postulated
about Africa were founded in the consequences of Europe s misuse of the land.
Another way that European colonization caused harm to Africans is through labor exploitation. Death,
taxation, and torture were tools used to enforce labor policies. After Europeans confiscated African
land, they proceeded to charge Africans taxes to inhabit the land. They charged the taxes in a manner
that required Africans to work for Europeans in order to pay. The railway line in The Congo, Ivory
recovery, cash crop cultivation and rubber extraction were all tasks performed by Africans. Africans
most often worked without pay. Europeans however made

 Resource Sharing Computer resources can be shared in the network such as the printer, scanner,
modem etc. This allows us to track down the uses of resources. For example, a network administrator
can set up a printer server and share it in the network. Then the user can use printer server for printing.
Now administrator needs only to monitor the print server instead of individual workstations. This is
economically better.  Application Sharing Application sharing is the most common in companies.
Companies may have a business application that needs to be updated by several users. Sharing make it
possible. It allows several users to work together on a single application.  Economic benefits With
computer networking, you can use a lot of software and hardware available on the market which can
just be stored or installed on a server and can be used by various workstations. Dis Advantage: 
Need of Technicians The network should be checked frequently monitored for good performance and
no problems on its physical and logical component. The expert technicians are required to do so it cost
a lot of money to hire them for all time  Network failure If any server like the file, print etc. fail then
the whole network is affected. If any hardware fails the nodes cannot be used.  Expensive It is
expensive to build and run the network. Expensive hardware like a router, cables, hub,

mechanisms. We are often interested in the effects of specific amino acid side chains on catalytic

found in nearly all organisms. E. coli PhoA is a periplasmic enzyme that hydrolyzes phosphate
monoesters and has a high (alkaline) pH optimum. For this laboratory, we take advantage of the

A fad or trend is a form of developing a popular subject in which we humans tend to follow and
throughout time it either develops/changes or dies down. Most often times trends and or fads are
associated with being gang related; for example, most people affiliate tattoos with criminals.
According to John Backderf, a famous comic strip writer, also referred to as derf believes that the
message behind a fad is misinterpreted which leads to peer pressure. To begin a trend derf believes
that it all begins with a small crowd, once it s been a style for a while it escalates to a bigger crowd
(the popular people), and finally it gets so big that its everywhere. In my opinion I revise derf s theory
because on his first two thoughts I agree with it, expect with his last idea. ... Show more content on

Derf begins with his comic saying that art students walk into a coffee shop all wearing a piercing on
their nose, but he refers to it as a nose booger (derf, box 1). This is how derf believes it starts with a
small group and in the next box he says that hipsters began to wear them along with Indie Rock
musician, but since the trend is getting bigger he has a visual that says, It s obviously GANG
RELATED!! I m banning boogers from school (derf, box 2). The picture is emphasized more because
it s a principal who believes that banning boogers will make the distraction go away, but the students
continue to wear them. So many people are wearing them, that it reaches an ultimate high power
which is known as celebrities including Madonna and Calvin Klein. Once it goes public the students
tend to lose interest and derf says the original art students lunging for the Kleenex (box 4). This relates
to peer pressure because once the student see that older people are wearing them they don t want them
to look unpopular so they find a new trend to

Question 2: (i) Part time Work The Protection of Employees (Part Time Work) Act 2001, is the
legislation that protects part time employees in Ireland. This act protects part time workers, because of
the following: 1, Part time employees cannot be treated less favourably than a comparable full time
employee regarding conditions of employment 2, All employee protection legislation applies to a part
time employee in the same manner as it already applies to a full time employee. Any qualifying
conditions that apply to a full time employee in any of that legislation also apply to a part time
employee. 3, This Act abolishes the requirement that a part time worker should be in the continuous
hourly employment of the employer for not less than 13 weeks and should normally be expected to
work not less than 8 hours per week. The calculation of continuous service for the purposes of
entitlement under the unfair dismissals and redundancy legislation still applies. Therefore, a part time
employee will still be required to have 12 months continuous service with their employer from the

Jealousy In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
Some argue that Mary Shelley did nothing shy from pouring her soul and heart into the novel
Frankenstein. Mary states that the novel was built off the happier times in her life, yet signs of
negative feelings, anger and jealousy can be found throughout the novel. In the 18th century novel
Frankenstein you can see many incidents where Mary Shelley s life was reflected into the writing. The
novel itself was set in multiple locations such as Geneva and England. These settings have a
connection to Mary Shelley s life. The novel begins with Geneva as the birth place of the protagonist.

War Between Afghanistan And America
Every county on this planet is different. Each one has its own unique culture and interests. Some
countries have similar cultures or they share the same interests, but there are countries that have
almost nothing in common. One country might be a monarchy that believes biscuits are the best thing
to eat for breakfast, while another country is a republic that believes muffins are better than biscuits.
They might be completely different but one has a good supply of cheese and the other of fruit, so they
work out an agreement to put their differences aside and make trading deals. However, sometimes
these countries cannot overlook the differences between them and the countries are in conflict. War in
not a pleasant thing, but it is one way of solving a conflict. Although it can help, it can also make
things worse. Wars have been a great part of America s History. From the beginning of America s
exists it had to fight Britain for its independence and now it is at war with Afghanistan. For the last 14
year America has sent its troops to Afghanistan, and in doing so America has lost a lot of money and
has now lost its purpose in continuing the war. The war started after a terrorist attack on September 11,
2001, to fight against terrorist groups that were responsible for the attack. American leaders never
realized this would be the longer war in American history.
The withdrawal of the Troops in Afghanistan is not a new topic. American citizens are split down the

Rheumatoid Arthritis
Living on this Earth, humanity may encounter many different viruses, and infectious diseases which
have the potential to jeopardize a well being. In regards to autoimmune diseases, these types of
conditions are due to your body s immune system fighting off its own self. One of the more
unfortunate autoimmune diseases attacks joints, and it is called Rheumatoid Arthritis. This disease can
cause normal everyday activities to become almost impossible to perform. With being diagnosed with

Rheumatoid Arthritis had a couple of different names such as arthritis deformans, and rheumatoid gout
(Mandal, 2009). However with the studies conducted by Alfred Garrod, he was able to make a clear
distinction between Rheumatoid Arthritis and osteoarthritis and gout (Mandal, 2009). Rheumatoid
Arthritis has been around for quite some time, and it seems as if it is very prevalent in the present
times as well.
Risk Factors
Every disease has certain factors that play a role in contracting a disease. In regards to Rheumatoid
Arthritis, there are many risk factors that are involved. Rheumatoid Arthritis is not a gender specific
disease; however women are much more likely to develop the disease in their lifetime (Mayo Clinic,
N.D.). Rheumatoid Arthritis can occur at any age of a person s lifetime, but it most commonly to
occur between the ages of 40 and 60 years old (Mayo Clinic, N.D.). Like many diseases, genetics can
play a huge role in determining the probability of developing a condition. In Rheumatoid Arthritis, if a
member in your family has the disease, you may have an increased risk of the disease as well (Mayo
Clinic, N.D.). Also, the strongest and most consistent evidence in regards to RA is from an association
between smoking and Rheumatoid Arthritis (Mayo Clinic, N.D.). The next risk factor of RA includes
women that have never had a live birth, tend to have a slight

The Core Responsibility Of A Corporation
For many years, researchers held that the core responsibility of a corporation was to provide
shareholders with financial returns. Carroll (1979) proposed that organizations have other types of
responsibilities towards the society. In Carroll s view, at some stage society has economic, legal,
ethical, and other expectations. The essential part of Carroll s definition of CSR is that a company has
four primary responsibilities: to be profitable, observe the law, be ethical, and conduct discretionary
activities. Drawing on those four responsibilities Carroll (1991) created a four level pyramid of CSR
and stated that the CSR policy of a company must include all of them. Carroll placed the economic
responsibilities at the base of the pyramid, since for a company to operate successfully, it must have a
financial return. On the second level were the legal responsibilities which in order to be fulfilled
corporations must pursue their economic objectives (Carroll, 1991). Placing the economic and legal
responsibilities at the bottom of the pyramid was reasonable because those two are fundamental for a
company to be successful. The ethical responsibilities were placed on the third level of the pyramid
suggesting that organizations ought to conduct their businesses operations in a fair and appropriate
way and ought to protect the stakeholders moral rights (Carroll, 1991). The distinction between the
legal and the ethical responsibilities is that in the former the norms are

Socialism And Social Problems In Upton Sinclair s The Jungle
Truly understanding the conditions of an immigrant s life during the Gilded Age is a feat of
remarkable magnitude for us who live such amazing lives today, but Upton Sinclair s The Jungle
achieves this astonishing task by describing the tortuous lives of Jurgis and his family as they toil to
simply survive the insurmountable debts and problems society has placed upon them. Sinclair
enthralls the reader with this story of small joys that are quickly overshadowed by depression, death,
and anger. He effectively builds relationships between this small Lithuanian family which seems to be
desperately fending off the whole world and the reader who just wants the best for them. The Jungle
also details the conflicting opinions between the wealthy and the poor and the growing movement of
socialism in America. While I do not agree with his idea of using socialism as a solution for the
problems many immigrants have faced, Upton Sinclair has crafted a thrilling tale that successfully
expresses the lives of immigrants during the Gilded Age and the amount of dangers they constantly
faced. The Jungle begins with Jurgis Rudkus, our main character who is a recent Lithuanian
immigrant, getting married in Chicago. After his marriage, Jurgis and several of his relatives find
work in Packingtown, a section of Chicago where meat industry is king. His family rents a shoddy
house forcing more of them to find work in Packingtown. After he joins a union, he begins to see the
political corruption that

Dirty Dancing is a 1987 film directed by Emile Ardolino, produced by Linda Gottlieb, edited by Peter

Dirty Dancing is a film based on Baby Houseman, a 17 year old girl who is spending her last care free

For example, when Baby is finally getting the dance moves, when Baby and Johnny meet in the room
and become intimate, and in the second intimate scene between Baby and Johnny. These scenes used
close ups because they foreshadowed the relationship developing between Baby and Johnny and the
future events to come; these scenes helped the audience get into their relationship. With the use of
close ups, the audience was really able to see the little subtle movements Baby and Johnny were doing
via their facial expressions and able to see the chemistry they had. In addition, in serious or significant
scenes close ups were used. Examples of this are when Baby is crying with her dad, when Baby and
Lisa are bonding, when Dr. Houseman finds out about Robbie, and when Dr. Houseman accepts
Johnny. In these scenes, the director utilized close ups because they were important moments in the
movie. In the scene where Baby is crying with her dad, her dad realizes he messed up too by judging
Johnny off the bat even if he s too prideful to admit it. In the scene with Baby and Lisa, they use a
close up because this is the first moment Lisa and Baby are getting along and bonding as sisters. In
that scene, you can see how Lisa is trying to sympathize with Baby and what she s feeling. And in the
scene with Robbie and when Dr. Houseman accepts Johnny close ups were used because it changed or

Hierarchical And Directory Based Database Essay
Homogenous database
It is a distributed database where each site shares a common software and the same copy of database.
These sites connect with each other and fulfill their requirements accordingly.
For example if a user queries something which needs resources from multiple sites then homogeneous
databases are a perfect suite where the sites interconnect with each other. Thus the sites share the same
or identical software and are aware of each and every site.
Heterogeneous database
It is a distributed database where all sites have different databases and no identical software .
Each site is independent and can handle data by its own.
Distributed File system
Distributed file system organizes file and directory services of individual servers into a global
directory in such a way that remote data access is not location specific but is identical from any client
with the client being unaware of the location. Organization is hierarchical and directory based.
Since more than one client may access the same data simultaneously there should be a mechanism to
keep the data updated . Distributed file systems typically use file or database replication (distributing
copies of data on multiple servers) to protect against data access failures.
There are distributed file services offered to the client.
The file service is a specification of what the file system offers to the client . This service is

The United States Health Care Policy
Introduction
Every nation holds multitudes of health care policy facing debate. Analyzing the strengths and
weaknesses of other countries could benefit the United States of America to create improvements. For
decades, the right to health care in the United States has fueled public debates and social conversation.
Should we implement the right similar to European policies? The United States struggles in agreement
to start making changes, but we can develop plans from successes seen in Italy. Italy has achieved cost
containment and patient coverage, which are two of the largest struggles within the United States
health care system. This paper will outline Italian structure and policies to aid in the process of
formulating a plan for positive changes by describing the following: finances and structure of Italian
health care, disparities seen within Italian health care offered, the overall structure of the United States
health care system and conclusion of suggestions to better our health care system.
Italian Financial and Organization of Health care
Italian health care, Servizio Sanitario Nazional (SSN), provides universal coverage to all citizens and
immigrants if government forms are completed entirely showing financial need or previous payment
towards a European Union health care system; although, undocumented immigrants desiring health
care resources need to understand where and how to fill out forms in Italian just for medical cards for

Two Different Types Of Friends

define who we are as people. There are five different types of friends that will come and go in our
lives. They are wild, dependable, lucky, chill, and funny. All of them add up to one amazing group of
best friends. First up is the wild one. They always seems to be getting into trouble. Every once in a

other responsibilities behind and procrastinate to the last minute. Grades do not seem to be their

your homework to double check their answers. We all know they just forgot to do the assignment.
Every so often they remind us it is okay to have a little fun in our lives. Maybe that is the reason they
are one of our best friends. Next up is the complete opposite of the wild one, which would be the
dependable one. They are designated as the mom of the group. Not only do they write things down in
a planner, but they will follow their scribbles as if it were laws etched on a stone tablet by Moses. It is
their guide to life. Instead of procrastinating, they will have the assignment done a week in advance.

Sometimes the cheapest design doesn t always translate into the easiest design. In this case, the

taking the entire local network offline. Moreover, the star network implies direct data flow from the
computers (via hub) to the internet instead of the data flowing through the nodes first. Hence, speed is
a benefit of such a network. In addition, because of the direct data flow methodology (nodes to hub to
modem to internet and vice versa), the data is safe. Finally, the star network allows for expansion of
nodes, hubs, and gateways without losing any of the networks advantages listed on this page. The
owner plans to eventually add 7 more computers to the network. My recommendation is to purchase
an additional hub to manage the 7 additional computers. Also, an additional modem is needed for load
balancing purposes.

Working As An Engineer For Electrical Engineering
Working as an engineer is much different than training to be an engineer, unlike school, there is no
typical day. Typically, engineers work in office buildings, laboratories, or industrial plants, but others
work outdoors at construction sites, oil exploration and production sites. In outdoor sites, engineers
usually monitor, direct operations, or solve on site problems. Some engineers travel extensively to
plants or work sites in their area and abroad. Having investigated a career in electrical engineering, I
have learned some information that I did not know before and made the decision of pursuing a career
in electrical engineering based on research and interview answers.
Many engineers work a standard 40 hour week, but at times deadlines or design standards may bring
extra pressure to a job, requiring engineers to work longer hours. Although extra pressure can be
uncomfortable, for many engineers the pay is worth the long hours. According to the U.S. Bureau of
Labor Statistics, The median annual wage for electrical engineers was $87,920 in May 2012. The
median wage is the wage at which half the workers in an occupation earned more than that amount
and half earned less. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $56,490, and the top 10 percent earned
more than $136,690 (Statistics) . This means that an electrical engineer can earn as much as $136,690
in his or her career. That extra pressure in the field can lead to a raise for the hard work and dedication

Walmart Observation
I decided that for this assignment that I would go to Walmart and observe their toy department. I chose
this retailer simply because it was convenient, and it supplied a wide variety of toys for me to observe.
Before I went to the toy aisle, I found myself reminiscing about my trips to the toy aisle. When I was a
young girl the toy aisle was a pink wonderland. From what I can recall, all the packaging for girl toys
were pink and violet whereas boy toys were blue and green. The former girl aisle mainly consisted of
Barbie s, Polly Pocket toys, Littlest Pet Shop toys, baby dolls, stuffed animals, and kitchen playsets. I
do not remember much about the boys aisle except that there were a lot of toy automobiles. I also do
not remember any gender neutral specific toys; however, that could be due to my age. I was surprised
to find that the toy section actually had gender neutral toys. They had outdoor toys like balls, hula
hoops, kites, and jump ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The boys aisle proved that society views men as a muscular, heroic like figures. Take the superhero
figurines. Superheroes are the ideal role model for little boys, but why? This is because superheroes
are valiant, strong, brave men. They generally have the same body type (broad shoulder and
muscular). These men also exhibit traits, such as courage, charity, and kindness that makes them a
wonderful role model for little boys. What makes the girls role in society to be seen as a nurturing
mother like figure? In the girls aisle you will find a variety of baby dolls, kitchen sets, and a bit of
doctor tools. This suggests to young girls that their role in society is to play the role of housewife or
doctor. The physical attributes of the dolls, such as the Monster High or Lego Friends dolls, reveals
that society deems that women should have a tall, slim figure with plump lips and delicate

frequently sales cool and teenagers. Throughout the film this relationship discussed. Some people
affirms that desires and wants of teens expressed by the media. On the other hand, some people
believed that, to earn profit, media has created a cool market. Conclusion of this film revealed that
many people believed that media and teenagers are in a loop of feedback. It is believed that purpose of
this feedback loop has to blend the teen culture and real culture. By blending these two cultures to
make a new single culture. No one can determine that which culture will be more influenced.
Conglomerates like Viacom, Walt Disney, Vivendi Universal, News Corp and AOL Time Warner,
these are some media giants. These media giants own these products and often sold these products to
the teenagers. Marketing methods of different companies were studied and researched from these
conglomerates throughout this

  • 2. Impact Of Globalisation On Higher Education Globalisation is the evolution of society which affect human life, education is one of those, especially in postgraduate degrees which receive the most influence from globalisation. The development in technologies and communication have produced a shift in learning system which affect cultures and national economic growth. Higher education systems has been transformed by globalisation, which is the widening, deepening and speeding up of worldwide interconnectedness (Held et al., 1999, p.14). When examining the impact of globalisation on higher education all over the world, the positive and negative aspects of this phenomenon have been widely mentioned. Some writers argue that globalisation has the destructive effect to the postgraduate system in developing nations and non English speaking developed nations (Marginson, 2006). Although the downsides of globalisation to higher education remain highly controversial, the occurrence of this phenomenon could significantly encourage national universities and governments to develop their standard of higher education which will benefit to students (Damme, 2001). • 4. Because I Could Not Stop For Death Essay Death can be perceived in many different ways. Most people would describe death as frightening, cold, and dark. But, it is really the unknown that causes us to question it. It is inevitable, a fate that we all must come to terms with. In these two literary pieces, death comes in different but relatable forms. Both characters when facing death, has similar reactions but different outcomes. They give us a sense of ease that we wouldn t feel when thinking about death. The poem, Because I could not stop for Death by Emily Dickinson, describes death as kind and patient. The character states that she could not stop for death, so death kindly stopped for her. In this poem death seems to sympathize that she doesn t want to die. Death is in no rush to take her life, but instead reminisces about her childhood while passing a school yard. Death seemed to be gentle in taking the characters life and knew no haste during the last stroll of her life. In the play Death Knocks by Woody Allen, death is perceived as funny, clumsy, and sarcastic. The first part of the play death is introduced by falling through the window into a house. The policy was first written and published as If there is a health and safety issue, we should be regulating the business so it protects all adults and children (Spokesman Review, 2004). Policy History/ Background An Estimated 40 year ago those who received tattoos and various forms of body art were only prisoners, outlaw motorcycle gangs and those who were in the armed forces (Taylor, 2012). As more people demanded more ink, more businesses were opened, some tattoo artists began to fear the spread of blood borne pathogens such as hepatitis (Taylor, 2012). If you do not know whom you are going to or what you are getting done, anywhere in Idaho, it is a risky situation (Taylor, 2012). The minor could be put in a real high risk situation; a number of tattoo artists were calling for government intervention. The reasoning is that, the health department needs to step in, so tattoo parlors that do not take safety into account, can get shut down (Taylor, 2012). There are disagreements from those who are considered adults, such as those who are tattoo and other body art artists, who believe that minors do not understand the responsibility of acquiring a tattoo and are not emotionally mature enough to receive one (Burnside, 2013). ... Even with the strong support of NATO, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization; Ukraine has but only two options, to move to E.U. or to move to the support of Russia, and the citizens are divided in half, the east and west, one side wanting to merge with Russia and the other wanting to merge with E.U.. Many would argue that AMC Theater is very close in distance to the Natick Mall, and may ask why the passengers of the shuttle cannot walk to the theater? An intersection similar to the one behind the mall can get busy and is very dangerous at night if one is not careful. Adding Shopper s World being added as a destination shuttle s route would be beneficial to the students taking it because there are so many stores in the shopping area. I was amazed by this presence through Liesel s relationship to books, the power of words, and language that is affected by the Holocaust. I was amazed by how Liesel overcomes Hitler s suppression and teaches others about language and words. The presence of words is shown through Liesel s relationship to books. We see Liesel develop throughout the novel from a powerless girl to a more mature, empowered girl, this is, in part, due to her relationship with books. • 10. Cicero s First Catilinarian Oration Essay Cicero s First Catilinarian Oration: A Rhetorical and Literary Analysis The pen is mightier than the sword. As a youth, I disagreed with this statement. How could a pen ever defeat a sword? Over time, I have come to understand how words and speech can influence generations more than just fear or force. Cicero s speeches are prime examples of how rhetoric is more powerful than military prowess or use of arms. His rhetoric influenced public policy and successive generations. Unlike Caesar and Pompey, he had no significant military command yet; his reputation was just as strong. Cicero s general objectives in the First Catilinarian Oration were to portray Catiline as a traitor, achieve support for an action against Catiline, and protect himself from any repercussions. To demonstrate this rhetoric I will analyze sections 3 and 4 from his First Catilinarian Oration. I have choses these sections because they best show how Cicero uses rhetoric to achieve his objective. In order to classify and understand Cicero s rhetoric, first I will define the kinds of speech and parts of rhetoric. Second, I will analyze his rhetoric by commenting on his chosen rhetorical techniques and topics. According to Aristotle, there are three kinds of speech: deliberative oratory, forensic oratory, and epideictic oratory. Cicero s First Catilinarian Oration falls mainly under the deliberative oratory category but, has elements of forensic and epideictic oratory. Deliberative oratory is any rhetoric ... Ads are used to make people think that this is a must, to make them think that they need this or that they have to start doing this and that they should to be like this person or follow them. In America, we have freedom of religion, meaning that anyone can be of any religion or not follow any religion at all if they chose without being harassed or persecuted for their beliefs. God and various religions should not be used in promoting products, people and/or ideas. Companies use advertisements to promote their products with the basic principle that their product is the best in the market. God and various religions should not be used in advertising products because it is ethically wrong. If a company used God or a certain religion to promote their products they are basically saying that they know the direct word of God. They are also saying that the beliefs of one religious group s teachings and including the thoughts of the members of the religion are all in agreement of that specific product, that it is the best. Any qualifying conditions that apply to a full time employee in any of that legislation also apply to a part time employee. 3, This Act abolishes the requirement that a part time worker should be in the continuous hourly employment of the employer for not less than 13 weeks and should normally be expected to work not less than 8 hours per week. Some countries have similar cultures or they share the same interests, but there are countries that have almost nothing in common. One country might be a monarchy that believes biscuits are the best thing to eat for breakfast, while another country is a republic that believes muffins are better than biscuits. They might be completely different but one has a good supply of cheese and the other of fruit, so they work out an agreement to put their differences aside and make trading deals. However, sometimes these countries cannot overlook the differences between them and the countries are in conflict. War in not a pleasant thing, but it is one way of solving a conflict. Although it can help, it can also make things worse. Wars have been a great part of America s History. From the beginning of America s exists it had to fight Britain for its independence and now it is at war with Afghanistan. For the last 14 year America has sent its troops to Afghanistan, and in doing so America has lost a lot of money and has now lost its purpose in continuing the war. • 28. The Core Responsibility Of A Corporation For many years, researchers held that the core responsibility of a corporation was to provide shareholders with financial returns. Carroll (1979) proposed that organizations have other types of responsibilities towards the society. In Carroll s view, at some stage society has economic, legal, ethical, and other expectations. The essential part of Carroll s definition of CSR is that a company has four primary responsibilities: to be profitable, observe the law, be ethical, and conduct discretionary activities. Drawing on those four responsibilities Carroll (1991) created a four level pyramid of CSR and stated that the CSR policy of a company must include all of them. Carroll placed the economic responsibilities at the base of the pyramid, since for a company to operate successfully, it must have a financial return. On the second level were the legal responsibilities which in order to be fulfilled corporations must pursue their economic objectives (Carroll, 1991). Placing the economic and legal responsibilities at the bottom of the pyramid was reasonable because those two are fundamental for a company to be successful. The ethical responsibilities were placed on the third level of the pyramid suggesting that organizations ought to conduct their businesses operations in a fair and appropriate way and ought to protect the stakeholders moral rights (Carroll, 1991). The distinction between the legal and the ethical responsibilities is that in the former the norms are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Socialism And Social Problems In Upton Sinclair s The Jungle Truly understanding the conditions of an immigrant s life during the Gilded Age is a feat of remarkable magnitude for us who live such amazing lives today, but Upton Sinclair s The Jungle achieves this astonishing task by describing the tortuous lives of Jurgis and his family as they toil to simply survive the insurmountable debts and problems society has placed upon them. Sinclair enthralls the reader with this story of small joys that are quickly overshadowed by depression, death, and anger. He effectively builds relationships between this small Lithuanian family which seems to be desperately fending off the whole world and the reader who just wants the best for them. The Jungle also details the conflicting opinions between the wealthy and the poor and the growing movement of socialism in America. While I do not agree with his idea of using socialism as a solution for the problems many immigrants have faced, Upton Sinclair has crafted a thrilling tale that successfully expresses the lives of immigrants during the Gilded Age and the amount of dangers they constantly faced. The Jungle begins with Jurgis Rudkus, our main character who is a recent Lithuanian immigrant, getting married in Chicago. After his marriage, Jurgis and several of his relatives find work in Packingtown, a section of Chicago where meat industry is king. Sometimes the cheapest design doesn t always translate into the easiest design. In this case, the translation is a success. The hub will serve as the intermediary between the computers and the internet (via cable modem). Also, in this case, easy design also translate into easy troubleshooting of any network problem. The star network allows troubleshooters to isolate issues on the network instead of taking the entire local network offline. Moreover, the star network implies direct data flow from the computers (via hub) to the internet instead of the data flowing through the nodes first. Hence, speed is a benefit of such a network. In addition, because of the direct data flow methodology (nodes to hub to modem to internet and vice versa), the data is safe. Finally, the star network allows for expansion of nodes, hubs, and gateways without losing any of the networks advantages listed on this page. The owner plans to eventually add 7 more computers to the network. My recommendation is to purchase an additional hub to manage the 7 additional computers. Also, an additional modem is needed for load balancing purposes. 5. Disadvantages of a Star Network Design
