Social Skills And Technical Education
This study investigated social skills and problem behaviors of general and special education career
and technical education students using the Social Skills Rating System instrument (SSRS). In addition,
the study compared self reported social skill ratings of career and technical education students with
and without disabilities, and compared the teachers and employers ratings of career and technical
education students social skills and problem behaviors.
The research questions addressed in this study were as follows:
1. Did the content analysis of the special education students individual transition plans (ITPs) reveal
social skills and problem behaviors?
2. Did the mean social skill score for the general education students significantly higher than the mean
social skill score for the special education students?
3. Did employers and teachers in career and technical education differ significantly in their social
skills and problem behavior ratings of general education students?

Religion In American Crisis By Thomas Paine
Religion is a necessity to life, as backed up by Thomas Paine s American Crisis. Paine has had quite
the history revolving around the American government, as he wrote Common Sense, a best seller that
offered a rhetorical view about why the colonies should split from Britain. However, he then decided
to write American Crisis in order to offer his unique but logical view on religion and how everyone
should go about deciding what they worship. His idea was that religion is necessary in order to live
and keep one s morals straight, however widespread religion are corrupting and brainwashing
everybody, so everyone should have their own religion in the church of their mind. Paine states
throughout American Crisis that he believes that religion

Chief Seattle Speech Summary
Two great chiefs, Tecumseh and Seattle, attempted to address the U.S. government s negligence
against the Native American tribes, who preceded the very men who ignore their needs. Chief Seattle
delivers a speech to President Pierce in 1855, and in it contrasts nature and artificial cities. There is no
quiet place in man s cities, no place to hear the leaves of spring or the rustle of insect wings. But
perhaps because I am a savage and do not understand, the clatter only seems to insult the ears.
(Seattle). He uses imagery to describe the delicacy of nature to the crude artificialness of man s cities ,
and provide a greater understanding of how their lives differ. Chief Seattle knows that the President,
just like all other white me, has preconceptions about Native Americans. He most likely believes them
to be too simplistic for white society, and even more so fears them. He already knows that white men
perceive them as savages and acknowledges this in his speech in a repetitive manner saying, but we
are just savages and do not understand (Seattle) three times. Chief Seattle despite knowing all of this,
still attempts to get the white people to understand, because he doesn t want the two peoples, white
and red, to live in fear of the other. He wants them to change their ways, and stop destroying the Earth.
He want s both the Tribes and the white men to become co inhabitants and stop fighting for the sake of
land. He is aiming for mutual respect and understanding, if not

oppositional. Choose two images, one from the genre of documentary and one from advertising, and
explain the process of encoding and decoding to explain these three positions the viewer may take
when decoding your chosen images.
Stuart Hall s text, Encoding, Decoding identifies three positions one can take in decoding an image.
These three positions are dominant, negotiated and oppositional. In light of Hall s theory, this essay
will, firstly explain the process of encoding and decoding and secondly will decode the following two
images, Super Size Me by Morgan Spurlock, from the genre of documentary and the Louis Vuitton
advertisement featuring ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The viewer that approaches the documentary, Super Size Me , with a negotiated decoding position
identifies the codes of eating and indulging in fast food will eventually kill you. They identify that
there are high risks with eating McDonalds. The viewer will then modify and adapt the codes within
the documentary to reflect on their own position, experiences and interests. These positions can be of
acknowledgement that McDonalds is bad but it s not bad for everyone and that some people s bodies
can handle the intake of such a diet. Other modifications could be that if they ate fast food every day
that they would love it and would believe that they would be ok. They would acknowledge that yes
McDonalds is not good for one s health but it s not the only cause that made him so sick. They believe
that yes eating it was shown to be harmful to the body but that it will not happen to them because their
body is in good shape.
The decoder with the oppositional position will understand the connotative message of the image full
well but is in a direct oppositional relation to the dominant signifiers and therefore decodes the
message in a contrary way (Hall). The viewer that approaches the documentary, Super Size Me , with
an oppositional decoding

Social Contagion, Emotions And The Voter s Paradox
In the 21st century, the ability to vote is seen in most developed countries as a right. Most seem to take
pride in the freedom to choose who their country s leader will be and relish in debating over which of
the candidates arguments is the most logical. All in the spirit of democracy. But is voting really as
straight forward and logical as we like to believe?
Let s first look at what being irrational actually means. According to the Merriam Webster dictionary,
for something to be irrational it must be not based on reason, good judgment, or clear thinking . This
means that if a vote is rational , it must be a clear reflection of what people believe in, not influenced
by any outside factors. To see if this is actually the case, we ll be examining phenomena such as social
contagion, emotions and the voter s paradox .
Checking back in with the Merriam Webster dictionary, we see that a vote is the collective opinion or
verdict of a body of persons expressed by voting . And there is our first obstacle to a perfectly rational
vote when humans make decisions in the presence of others, they re influenced by what others think.
Social pressures affect people s decisions all of the time. This is what the psychologists like to call this
social contagion.

The Future Is Not Far Beyond Our Potential When thinking of science fiction stories and films, their

them to take the audience to a different world to excite the feelings of awe and wonder, making us
leave the realism and probable behind. These alterations from ordinary life and reality may take away
from authenticity, but science fiction can prove to resemble more of our society when analyzing the

Looking first at Star Trek, the main female character throughout the movie is Nyota Uhura. She is
only seen in few scenes in the exposition of the movie and onboard the U.S.S Enterprise, but she is not
given any characterization, backstory, or even a clear duty as a crew member. While every character is
given a few seconds to either say or show their importance to the spaceship, Uhura is given the
smallest description of her role, if there really is a clear one given. Her main scenes in the movie and
role are being Spock s girlfriend, comforting him in the elevator, kissing him goodbye as he leaves for
a mission, and speechlessly gazing at him with love or concern while the men define the action the
crew will take, showing how far away this female character matters to the plot (Tudor and Meehan

progressive role in society. Gaila is seen in her main scene as a sexy female involved with Kirk with

the main character that ends up depicting women to an unimportant role in developing the story. These
women and other female characters that appear in the movie mostly occupy traditional narrative roles:
mother, sexual partner, and girlfriend, giving them supportive roles and ultimately sticking to the
conservative story where men are the heroes and women are there to support the men on their quest

opportunity to break stereotypes of society and are left to fit in the shadows of prominent male leaders

Essay about Romanticism in Frankenstein
Having lived between 18th and 19th century, author Mary Shelley was greatly influenced by the
intellectual movement of Romanticism. Since she was closely associated with many of the great minds
of the Romantic Movement such as her husband Percy B. Shelley and Lord Byron, it is natural that
her works would reflect the Romantic trends. Many label Shelley¡¯s most famous novel Frankenstein
as the first Science Fiction novel in history because its plot contains the process of a scientist named
Victor Frankenstein creating a living human being from dead body parts, but that is only a part of the
entire novel. At its core, Frankenstein is a product of Romanticism featuring the traits of a Romantic

Frankenstein at first may seem to be promoting the ideas of Enlightenment with Walton exploring the
North Pole and Frankenstein studying natural philosophy and trying to find the secret of life through
the deductive reasoning of science. However, with Walton failing to explore the North Pole and
Frankenstein¡¯s scientific creation spinning out of his control, Frankenstein emphasizes the theme of
the danger of discovering knowledge with reason and science. Frankenstein devotes almost his entire
life to the study of natural philosophy and the creation of the monster in eagerness to understand the
secret of life, yet this act of creation eventually results in the destruction of everyone close to him and
his ultimate isolation. Likewise, Walton attempts to surpass previous human explorations by
navigating to reach the North Pole but eventually finds himself trapped between sheets of ice unable
to reach his goal. Mary Shelley is conveying a message as a Romantic, with the characters of Walton
and Frankenstein, that the thirst for knowledge and the attempt to explain life through science, both of
which are valued during the Enlightenment movement, can be destructive. Nature¡¯s sublimity and
intense emotions realized through connection with nature, a major emphasis of

The Iliad: Greeks and Their Love for War
It has long been a popular scholarly opinion that the Greeks in the Iliad were lovers of war and
violence. The Greeks were most definitely primal beasts, and blood shedders, a fact made abundantly
clear in the Iliad. However, I think that the Greeks were not lovers of war, furthermore I think this
interpretation is shortsighted. The amount of violence in the Iliad seems to be evidence for their love
of war, but the ancient world was primal and passionate, and these ancient beasts were not strangers to
bloodshed and violence. Thus, I think the amount of violence in the Iliad does not perpetuate the
Greeks love for war, but rather shows their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When a Greek hero kills a Trojan commander or hero, the Greeks rejoice because there was immediate
honor granted to the killer. He has done well for his name and his people, which is why the kill is
celebrated. If the Hero had slain a goat, the Greeks would not have rejoiced (unless they were
particularly famished that day), because the Greeks do not celebrate bloodshed for the sake of red,
they celebrate honor and immortality granted to those who exhibit greatness. This is also why I think
Homer and other story telling decedents choose to remember those that are bastards and those that are
highborn. A bastard being less honorable than a noble highborn man, and than those born from human
woman and a god for a father. I cannot accept that through millennia of retellings of the Iliad, such a
seemingly minuscule detail such as bastard would be kept without reason. The description bastard
appears many times during the bloodshed of the Iliad. In Book IV, As the javelin homed in on
Democoön, Pram s bastard son from his horse farm in Abydos (Homer, Iliad 4), it is again mentioned
the honor associated with the kill, a bastard boy, rather than a hero. Then, Meges kills Pedaeus in
Book V, Homer makes sure to detail Though he was a bastard... . Bastard was more clearly described
as being lesser and almost dishonorable in Book VII, when King Agamemnon addressed Teucer,
bastard of Telamon, ...and you will save the day for the Greeks, ... though you were a bastard.

The Advantages And Disadvantages Of The Scramble For Africa
In the 1880s the scramble for Africa began. The scramble for Africa was when European countries
occupied, colonized, and divided Africa during the period of new imperialism. In the beginning
imperialism in Africa seemed beneficial but then opinions changes. As imperialism spread many
began to view imperialism differently than before, while some saw only the benefits of imperialism
other saw the disastrous aftermath. In the past imperialism in Africa was viewed as both beneficial and
harmful because of the disadvantages of imperialism, the benefits of imperialism, and the effects that
imperialism had on the Africans.
Although there were benefits of African imperialism, there were also disadvantages for the nations.
When writing about African imperialism a British scholar, J.A. Hobson, said that during the period of
imperialism there were many wars that were caused by Europeans attacking people who they
considered to be lower races (Document 1). The lower races were at a disadvantage because the
Africans did not have the same modern weaponry that the Europeans did, which was one of the
military causes of new imperialism. Another example is an excerpt from Balance Sheets of
Imperialism which points out that, In fact, her expenditures on colonies for that time was 6,856
million lire (Document 8). This is an example of a disadvantage because even though there was
money being made in the colonies, the countries still had to pay for things like live costs and wars

SAE 30 Motor Oil
One form of resistance to flow is due to the viscosity of the liquid. Viscosity is the amount of work
needed to move one box of liquid against another box of liquid. Every liquid has it s own value for
this resistance to flow. SAE 30 motor oil has a lower viscosity and flows much easier than SAE 50
motor oil. The values for water are lower than for the motor oil. Another characteristic of any liquid is
its attraction to a surface. It attaches itself to any surface and cannot be moved. The liquid in the box
on the very surface of a pipe does not flow or move. It always remains stationary. The liquid in the
box above it has to slide against it and that requires an amount of energy to overcome friction between
the two boxes . The higher

A Coupled Model Of Transport, Turbulence, And Mesoscale Flows
A coupled model of transport, turbulence, and mesoscale flows is proposed, including turbulence
spreading. The model consists of transport equations for plasma density and pressure coupled to a
shell model of drift wave turbulence, which incorporates coupling to mesoscale flows via disparate
scale interactions. The model can describe the turbulent cascade and its dynamical interplay with
zonal and mean shear flows as well as the profile evolution (including the profiles of turbulence
intensity itself) due to these self consistent turbulent fluxes. This simple system of equations is shown
to capture the low to high confinement (L H) transition. It is also observed that as the heating is
increased, the system goes through an intermediate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance the models including the effect of evolution of plasma turbulence driven by profile
gradients were proposed and studied by various authors (see, e.g., Refs. 7 and 18). In particular, the
model of Miki et al.7,19,20 has the advantage of including oscillations between two predators (zonal
flows and mean flows) and one prey (turbulence) while achieving the L H transition. As such, it is also
able to describe an L I H transition (L H transition with an intermediate phase), which was initially
predicted by a 0D model.21,22 However in most of the reduced models, the transport coefficients are
determined by an ad hoc shear suppression rule. Here we propose an approach based on shell models,
where the shear suppression and the predator prey dynamics are natural results of the disparate scale
interactions incorporated within the shell model description. The model that is introduced in this paper
is interesting for various reasons. It is significant, for instance, in that it makes use of a simple
description of turbulence based on shell models, yet it is able to describe the complex interplay
between turbulence and zonal flows in a natural self consistent way, without making use of ad hoc
steady state relations such as the shear suppression rule. On the other hand, the model

several implications in terms of electric shock protection. The most important are the safety to the

users mentioned above should be informed of an operational generator (Small Scale Embedded

This type of protection is known to be either a TT or TN systems. The TT System of Earthing is not
suitable where a TN C S system is available it s only used in old installation or rural parts of the
country where overhead cable supplies are used. The associated earth fault loops with the TT System
of Earthing is that the exposed conductive metalwork causes a fault current to flow through it to earth
and return to the source via a general mass of earth (Figure 1). It is anticipated that the level of fault
current will cause the RCD to trip or to blow the fuse in the time indicated in the ETCI rules. At 230
Volts its 5 seconds for fixed equipment, 0.4 seconds for portable equipment, socket outlets and 0.4
seconds for fixed equipment in bathrooms. The main disadvantage of the TT system connection of
protecting against indirect contact is that the earth fault path resistance could easily allow a continual
earth fault to exist which may well be lethal or causes fire. The TN C S system of earthing has the
main earth terminal connected to the supply neutral and the earth electrode. When the load fault to
earth occurs it turn into a fault to the incoming neutral and the fault route resistance is a lot lower than
the TT system. A large current will flow which causes the RCD to trip within the specified time

King Lear Gender Roles Essay
Gender defiance from Goneril takes place in Act 1 Scene 4 Line 285 Lear says to Goneril I am
ashamed that thou hast power to shake my manhood thus; that these hot tears, which break from me

King Lear being man, feels threatened, that Goneril, a woman has the power to take away his male
dominance. This shows Goneril challenging gender roles because during that time, women
stereotypically wouldn t have the power to be in a significant position of authority. Again another act
of defiance from Goneril is present in Act 4 Scene 2 Line 16, I must change names at home, and give

his country, but instead, acts very feminine being more emotional than physical about the situation. In
Act 4 Scene 6 Line 183 King Lear says, No seconds? All myself? Why this would make a man of salt,

destroying their own individual needs (Zinn, 35). These tactics began as soon as slavery became
widespread in America, a time when Africans were not yet seen as ethnically inferior to whites.
However, as time went on and methods for keeping Africans under control stayed the same, the ideas
slaveholders pushed into the minds of slaves made their way into the public opinion, and became
accepted by society. This is certainly true in the case of Harriet s mistress Mrs. Flint, who, Harriet
says, Seemed to think that slaves had no right to family ties of their own; that they were created
merely to wait upon the family of the mistress (Jacobs, 34). Mrs. Flint had most likely grown up in a
household with slaves, and been around them her whole life. The way she treats her slaves would have
developed from the way she saw her parents treat slaves, so she saw nothing wrong with the idea that
they were only there to serve herself and her family. Thinking back on her experiences with Dr. Flint,
Harriet remembers, When

Gender Roles In Hockey
Battle of the Sexes Looking at the National Hockey League in comparison to the National Women s
Hockey League, the quality of playing is far better for the men than it is the women. While both
leagues were established for the same reason, to play hockey, the logistics are as different as they can
be. Women are treated far more poorly than the men in about every aspect of professional sports. Even
though it was born out of the National Hockey League, the National Women s Hockey League is not
only challenged, but compared to every aspect of the NHL, which includes: wages, rules and
regulations, LGBT norms, and the overall questioning of why women and men cannot play together in
one league. Despite the downsides the women league faces, the player ... Show more content on

Michaels dream has a sense of uncertainty looming about it. In Michael s dream he is in a blackbirds
nest with his baby sister. His little sister is in the form of a bird cross human. There are two doctors at
the bottom of the tree they are in. The doctors are equipped with a table of knifes and scissors. The
two men are beckoning Michael to come down with the baby. Bring her down! he yelled we ll make
her good as new . The knives and scissors symbolise Michaels worries of what might happen to the
baby if he takes her down or if he puts his trust into the doctors. The line we ll make her as good as
new and go on baby fly are taunting Michaels protective instinct for his sister. They are almost testing
him seeing how far they can take him. When Michael sees the great bare patches on her skin it implies
that she is weak that she is not strong enough to fly. She teetered on the brink indicates Michaels
worries of close she is to falling or how close she is to dying. Almond describes that baby being
covered in feathers and being warm and soft. These are some characteristics of skellig. At this point
almond is connecting the baby to skellig. He is suggesting that michael is also worried about skellig

A Short Note On My Performance Improvement Program Essay
PE STUDIES INTERNAL
Confidence is a key aspect to succeed
Confidence Belief in one s own abilities, self trust
When going to evaluate the effectiveness of my performance improvement programme I needed to
consider the experiences that I found when doing the programme and the trainings. I asked myself
when doing this programme like what is required in order to improve my kayaking skill level and is
confidence really the key to succeeding in improving my performance. In order to find out this
information I needed to be honest and clear in my vision to do this an unbiased judgement is needed in
evaluating my progress. A performance improvement programme for me in kayaking is key, due to
this sport being relatively new to me having no real experience. It s a good way to introduce me to
kayaking because it helps you evaluate new areas of the sport like doing an eskimo roll. A programme
like this helps me achieve and evaluate specific goals that are both realistic and achievable over a 6
week course and develop the skills and gain what knowledge is required e.g. hip flicking is the most
important aspect in rolling in my opinion. I believe it is important to evaluate yourself at the start of
the programme to get a gauge at what type of learning you are at, which in my case it was cognitive
stage which is defined as develops the understanding of how to perform the skill. Which in other
terms means you haven t practised the skill you re just learning about the skill. Its also

Painting At The Oklahoma City Museum Of Art
On September 4, 2016, I visited the Matisse in His Time exhibit at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art.
This exhibit is home to a plethora of pieces by many different European artists from the 19th and 20th
centuries. While it is focused on Matisse and his extensive works, containing more than 50 of his
pieces, there are many portraits and sculptures by other influential artists from that time period
including Renoir, Picasso, and Georges Braque. Three of the most appealing works that I encountered
in this exhibit are Maurice de Vlaminck s Portrait of Père Bouju, Pablo Picasso s Reclining Woman on
a Blue Divan, and Henri Matisse s sculpture series Henriette I, Henriette II, and Henriette III.
One of the most visually intriguing pieces in the exhibit is the Portrait of Père Bouju by Maurice de
Vlaminck. It was painted around the year 1900 by the French artist. It is not particularly beautiful by
normal standards. At first glance, the texture of the paint stands out more than any other feature. It has
very strongly defined brush strokes and thick paint in portions, especially the face of the man and the
background. The lines in the paint are mostly straight, short, and wide with some that are thinner and
wavy, like the smoke. The man is in the center of the canvas, he is the only discernable image, and he
is almost devoid of detail aside from the face and the hat. The colors are almost entirely neutral aside
from the red scarf. In this oil on canvas portrait the man is wearing a

My Dream Day
Tossing, turning, and waking up three times before the sun knocks on my window is what my sleep
usually consists of. Not to mention the heat trying to strangle me as I wake up gasping for breath
every single day. This is a typical morning for me; as sleeping is always the first struggle of the day.
My bed finally kicks me out and my blanket strips its warmness away; now I have no choice but to get
dressed and ready for a perfect day full of nothing but dull diamonds excluding those that actually
shine to me. I finally got dressed and sat still, not fully ready, but not having any desire to move
further in the process. I finally got outside and it s 7:35 .Thoughts started to rush through my head like
a running river. I wonder if the bus came yet? If so, how am I going to get to school today? Although
these thoughts came rushing in my head; I knew that the bus would come whenever it chose to come,
leaving me bewildered in the process. Finally, I arrived at school infinitesimally irritated with how my
morning had gone so far not knowing things would get much worse as my day had so much in store
for me. I got to school and started to go through the line to get breakfast. I got my food and I was on
my way to class, but then, a person whose name I have no idea bumped into me and caused my arm to
spill all the food that was nestled in it. Great, I m hungry and now I will stay that way until someway,

My Introduction to the Legal Process Class Essay
On Tuesday the 28th of February our Introduction to the Legal Process class went to the Maine
Legislature and had the chance to meet some Representatives and Senators that we had contacted
previously. We had studied lobbying and how to effectively lobby a bill beforehand, and met with the
officials we had contacted individually. This is some information that could help you lobby a bill in
the Maine legislature. I was assigned four representatives and one senator to contact beforehand, and it
is essential to do this early. With the massive amount of emails and calls an official gets in a day, it is
easy to get lost in the crowd. Many legislators will not contact you back due to their busy schedule. I
only received responses from two of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That means you need to research on the bill you are presenting, and why this bill was created. You
should also know the legislator you are lobbying to. One of my representatives, Gay Grant, was a co
sponsor on the Ocean Acidification I was presenting so she was more familiar with the bill than my
other representative. The other, Kim Monaghan Derrig, was on the Workforce and Job committee so I
had to tailor how I lobbied the bill to talk about how it would affect jobs in Maine. Doing research on
the person you are lobbying to can make your case stronger by making it personal. It is also good to
memorize the face of the official you are meeting so you can find them in a crowd. I had studied the
faces of my representatives before meeting them, but I still didn t recognize Rep. Derrig until she
came up to me and asked if she knew where she could find Tyler amongst our group of students.
Being prepared also means bringing the right materials. Wearing formal clothing is usually required
for entering political buildings, and it also sets the tone for how serious you are about the time this
person is setting aside for you and the bill you are trying to present. In the Maine Legislature it is a
little more lax, but you should still dress respectfully when lobbying. Beyond clothes, bringing hard
copies of the bill and an informational page on the bill you are lobbying that gives the key points of

the funds would only cover through the year of 2015. At the end of 2015 President Obama once again

The purpose of CHIP is to provide health insurance to low income children whose family income is
above the eligibility level for Medicaid in their state. Both these programs have covered over 15
million children and many of them live in low income families.
However, these are great programs for low income families and children who needs medical care.

purposes besides carrying pedestrians. This means that sidewalks complete a city and makes it safe or

The adaptations of George Bernard Shaw s drama Pygmalion (1914) have been a successful classical
collection in the world. Somehow people forget that the important character as well as the real
pygmalion is Prof. Henry Higgins, but not the flower girl Eliza. This is especially due to the cast of
Eliza in the Hollywood movie My Fair Lady (1964) Audrey Hepburn s great charms and her idol

As a response, this paper will focus on the professor of phonetics Henry Higgins and investigate the
changes of this character in different adaptations of Shaw s drama. More importantly, endeavor to
analyze the possible reasons for those changes. Different adaptations of Shaw s drama Pygmalion

musical My Fair Lady (1956), and the color film My Fair Lady (1964).

Board of Education, resulted in the overturning of the separate, but equal doctrine under the
realization that separation is what took away the equality. In the early 1950s, schools in Topeka,
Kansas segregated people by race, leaving Linda Brown and her sister to walk through a hazardous
railroad switchyard to get to the bus stop for their school. There was a school closer to where they
lived, however, it was an all white school. Linda and her family saw the segregation systems as a
violation of the Fourteenth Amendment and took it to court. Federal district courts claimed the
segregation was harmful to African American youths, however due to the similar qualities the all black
and all white schools shared, it was deemed fully constitutional under the separate, but equal doctrine.
The case was taken to the Supreme Court and the court expressed that even though the schools shared
similar facilities, segregated schools could never be equal. As such, the separate, but equal doctrine
was overruled as it violated the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. This decision
resulted in the precedent that any laws that segregated people, no matter how similar their facilities
may be, was unconstitutional.(Paraphrased from www.streetlaw.org) One way the two cases are linked

I Believe that Piracy Should Be Legal
1. I strongly believe that piracy should be legal. To begin with, the overseeing of private distribution is
regulated without set standards and guidelines, almost arbitrarily, and only exists because there exists
the assumption that piracy negatively impacts the people that put in work to produce the goods or
services in question. From the business standpoint, the driving stance behind those that are against
piracy is that piracy is equated to stealing. This is an unreasonable fallacy when it comes to online
piracy. It is understandable in the real world, using a car as an example, if you steal a car; the original
is no longer there. However, if you were to pirate a movie or a textbook, it is still available for
purchase from the creator. Parallels cannot be drawn between online piracy and the real world.
Additionally, many multiplayer computer games on the internet are free to play, and the video game
industry is thriving. The flagship example would be in the case of Game of Thrones. Game of Thrones
is the most pirated object that exists on the internet, and the creators of the show are proud to
announce that more than half of its audience watches the show illegally. Given this information, HBO
(the network that owns Games of Thrones) still made more revenue during the last quarter of the 2013
year than its biggest competitor (Netflix) and that s with Netflix having a larger customer pool and no
problems with piracy. Chances are, if one is going to pirate something, they

directions in a few tenths of a second. On the other hand, at the edge of the swarm, cells usually
paused and then swam back toward the center of the swarm or along its edge. Hence, the properties of
the interior of the monolayer was different than the properties of its outer edge. Thus, the local
alignment among cells was accomplished by cell body collision and short range hydrodynamic
interactions.
While there s a fairly good understanding of how bacteria regulate, assemble and rotate their flagella
to swim in liquid media, little is still known about how some bacteria is able to use their flagella in
order to move over the tops of solids otherwise known as swarming. Thus, Kearns studied what is
needed in swarming motility in diverse bacterial model systems such as an increase in the number of
flagella per cell, secretion of a surfactant to reduce surface tension for spreading and movement in
multicellular groups. Therefore, Kearns was able to determine that swarming motility generally
requires an energy rich, solid medium, however, the specific conditions that support swarming
depends on the organism in question. Swarming was enhanced by high growth rates that may account

Matthew Miller Analysis
The human body and its relationship with technology in the digital age that we live in, plays as the
main inspirations for British designer Matthew Miller. His work reflects a belief that fashion is
essentially a product, just like anything else, that reflect simple manufacturing values. A graduate of
the Royal College of Art, Miller combines aspects of tailoring and casual wear to create delicate
fusions that utilise contemporary fabrication processes. His modern interpretation of classic tailoring
combined with a desire to use particular materials offer a glimpse into his creative mind. Miller s
AW15 collection takes inspiration from a sequence of potential destruction and what could have been
looking at the 1990 s generation and attitudes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the need to ensure collections can sell, there still needs to have identifiable traces representative of
the designer. Miller knows this only too well and has seen his creativity copied first hand. I hear a lot
of bollocks in the industry about this subject. Of course creativity and business can exist together. The
simple fact of the matter is we live in a very cut throat world and if you come up with a beautiful idea
and fail to subsequently commodify that idea, be assured there is a very long line of sharks/brands
waiting to do it for you. I have people contacting me weekly with brands copying archive products.
There s actually a brand at the moment who ve copied details of my SS15 presentation Introversion
and released it this week. It s insane. Creativity and business are not a choice in the age of the internet.
Your creativity is your business and if you don t see that, someone else

Rooms In The 19th Century
Where were we at before rooms came along? Now here we are since rooms were made. Many changes
have taken place in rooms between these points in time, however the bedroom is, and remains to be,
the most used room in a household. Obviously we began to require more things of a room as time
progressed, and so the necessary changes were implemented. By ascertaining a better grasp of the
adjustments made to the bedroom from era to era, one may better appreciate and become more
knowledgeable of the antiquities that befell the various ages. At the turn of the 19th century many
more people occupied the same home together, usually about 10 people per house. Now keep in mind
that the buildings of the 19th century were not as grandiose as those of today, ... Show more content

But, the painting contractor will only charge those high prices that can be avoided. By, painting the
project yourself, I will walk you through the steps, needed to paint a bedroom. How To Paint Your
Bedroom #1 First, decide what color you want to paint your bedroom. Many people are friendly,
others are risk takers. For friendly people I would recommend the color white, and for risk takers I
would recommend the color black. Now, black and white are the cheapest colors to buy, especially if
you are on a budget, and have a set spending limit. How To Paint Your Bedroom #2 Second, go to the
hardware store to do your shopping. I would recommend, going to Lowes Hardware, or The Home
Depot. Both, hardware stores usually have everything in stock. I usually go to Lowes Hardware,
because it is a name brand company. And, you will need the following to get started on the painting:
paint, painters tape, wood stick for mixing paint, brushe, and paint bucket, and one more thing be sure
to buy plenty of white towels, to clean up the mess with. How To Paint Your Bedroom #3 Third, so
now, you have the materials and you are ready to prep up your bedroom for painting. You can start by
removing all beds and furniture and appliances, and everything that is on the wall, or will get in the
way. Then take the painters tape and cover up all things that can get stained especially the floor. Put
the painters tape on light

Discussing Theories And Types Of Systems
Discussing theories and types of systems was a process of looking at situation from a distanced and
unrelated point of view. Some concepts were easier to understand because I had previously
experienced them or realized my part in a specific system. The first part of the course brought up a lot
of questions about the application and ways in which these processes occurred. This approach led to
many discussions and ideas about why specific situations were classified as they were within the
dynamic systems.
Throughout these last sessions, it was evident that many of these theories and concepts could be
applied, and visually placed on maps. However, it was represent our ideas visually through mapping
that was a hard process in these experiential sessions. This became our complicated system through
the project. As we looked retrospectively through our progress in each session, we changed words and
arranged ideas as we felt would make sense, and would help us represent our intentions more
thoroughly. This was also a moving system that led us to different ways of thinking and understanding
others worldview thus increasing our complexity.
My group chose an idea fairly fast. Our self organization was very goal directed, as we understood the
task and objective of our project. We divided our ideas into two groups, a local issue and an
international issue. This was our way to simplify our task. Our local suggestions were between Uber
and AirBnB, and our international suggestion was

Who Is Responsible For Romeo And Juliet s Death
Romeo and Juliet Essay by: Caden Anderson In Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare every
character has some responsibility for Romeo and Juliet s death. If someone was most responsible, it
would be both Romeo and Juliet. Some might say that Tybalt is most responsible for the death of the
couple, but I think he is not, here is why. Tybalt was only fighting as his masters would have wanted.
Since he was only fighting because for the Capulets, that already makes Lord Capulet more
responsible than Tybalt. It would be impossible for Tybalt to be responsible because of this reason,
Romeo killed Tybalt resulting in Romeos banishment, and Tybalt never chose to be killed by Romeo.
If this proves anything it is that Tybalt is less responsible

Evaluation Of A Clinical Skills Essay
This essay will discuss a clinical skill in which I have become competent in practicing. I will use a
reflective model to discuss how I have achieved the necessary level of competence in my nurse
training programme. The reflective model I have chosen to use is Gibbs model (Gibbs 1988). Gibbs
model of reflection incorporates the following: description, feelings, evaluation, analysis, conclusion
and an action plan (Gibbs 1988). The model will be applied to the essay to facilitate critical thought,
relating theory to practice where the model allows. Discussion will include the knowledge
underpinning practice and the evidence base for the clinical skill. A conclusion to the essay will then
be given which will discuss my reflection skills, acknowledge my competence and show my personal
and professional development.
The clinical skill I have chosen to reflect on within this essay is the administration of Intramuscular
(IM) injections. I have chosen this as within my first clinical placement this was a widely used method
of drug administration and I became involved in the process of IM injections. I therefore researched
the topic of IM injections and my knowledge within this area developed.
The first stage of Gibbs (1988) model of reflection requires a description of events. I was asked to
administer a drug to a patient via IM injection. I had observed this clinical skill on a variety of
occasions but have not had the chance to administer any IM injection under supervision. On

  • 6. Chief Seattle Speech Summary Two great chiefs, Tecumseh and Seattle, attempted to address the U.S. government s negligence against the Native American tribes, who preceded the very men who ignore their needs. Chief Seattle delivers a speech to President Pierce in 1855, and in it contrasts nature and artificial cities. There is no quiet place in man s cities, no place to hear the leaves of spring or the rustle of insect wings. But perhaps because I am a savage and do not understand, the clatter only seems to insult the ears. (Seattle). He uses imagery to describe the delicacy of nature to the crude artificialness of man s cities , and provide a greater understanding of how their lives differ. Chief Seattle knows that the President, just like all other white me, has preconceptions about Native Americans. He most likely believes them to be too simplistic for white society, and even more so fears them. He already knows that white men perceive them as savages and acknowledges this in his speech in a repetitive manner saying, but we are just savages and do not understand (Seattle) three times. Chief Seattle despite knowing all of this, still attempts to get the white people to understand, because he doesn t want the two peoples, white and red, to live in fear of the other. These positions can be of acknowledgement that McDonalds is bad but it s not bad for everyone and that some people s bodies can handle the intake of such a diet. Other modifications could be that if they ate fast food every day that they would love it and would believe that they would be ok. They would acknowledge that yes McDonalds is not good for one s health but it s not the only cause that made him so sick. They believe that yes eating it was shown to be harmful to the body but that it will not happen to them because their body is in good shape. • 10. Social Contagion, Emotions And The Voter s Paradox In the 21st century, the ability to vote is seen in most developed countries as a right. Most seem to take pride in the freedom to choose who their country s leader will be and relish in debating over which of the candidates arguments is the most logical. All in the spirit of democracy. But is voting really as straight forward and logical as we like to believe? Let s first look at what being irrational actually means. According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, for something to be irrational it must be not based on reason, good judgment, or clear thinking . This means that if a vote is rational , it must be a clear reflection of what people believe in, not influenced by any outside factors. To see if this is actually the case, we ll be examining phenomena such as social contagion, emotions and the voter s paradox . Checking back in with the Merriam Webster dictionary, we see that a vote is the collective opinion or verdict of a body of persons expressed by voting . And there is our first obstacle to a perfectly rational vote when humans make decisions in the presence of others, they re influenced by what others think. Social pressures affect people s decisions all of the time. This is what the psychologists like to call this social contagion. They knocked on the doors of each of these houses and presented them with either a placebo pitch on recycling or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many label Shelley¡¯s most famous novel Frankenstein as the first Science Fiction novel in history because its plot contains the process of a scientist named Victor Frankenstein creating a living human being from dead body parts, but that is only a part of the entire novel. • 15. Role Of Violence In The Iliad Josef Affourtit Affourtit.2 February 10th, 2017 CLAS1101 The Iliad: Greeks and Their Love for War It has long been a popular scholarly opinion that the Greeks in the Iliad were lovers of war and violence. The Greeks were most definitely primal beasts, and blood shedders, a fact made abundantly clear in the Iliad. However, I think that the Greeks were not lovers of war, furthermore I think this interpretation is shortsighted. The amount of violence in the Iliad seems to be evidence for their love of war, but the ancient world was primal and passionate, and these ancient beasts were not strangers to bloodshed and violence. Thus, I think the amount of violence in the Iliad does not perpetuate the Greeks love for war, but rather shows their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When a Greek hero kills a Trojan commander or hero, the Greeks rejoice because there was immediate honor granted to the killer. He has done well for his name and his people, which is why the kill is celebrated. If the Hero had slain a goat, the Greeks would not have rejoiced (unless they were particularly famished that day), because the Greeks do not celebrate bloodshed for the sake of red, they celebrate honor and immortality granted to those who exhibit greatness. This is also why I think Homer and other story telling decedents choose to remember those that are bastards and those that are highborn. A bastard being less honorable than a noble highborn man, and than those born from human woman and a god for a father. I cannot accept that through millennia of retellings of the Iliad, such a seemingly minuscule detail such as bastard would be kept without reason. The description bastard appears many times during the bloodshed of the Iliad. In Book IV, As the javelin homed in on Democoön, Pram s bastard son from his horse farm in Abydos (Homer, Iliad 4), it is again mentioned the honor associated with the kill, a bastard boy, rather than a hero. Then, Meges kills Pedaeus in Book V, Homer makes sure to detail Though he was a bastard... . • 16. The Advantages And Disadvantages Of The Scramble For Africa In the 1880s the scramble for Africa began. The scramble for Africa was when European countries occupied, colonized, and divided Africa during the period of new imperialism. In the beginning imperialism in Africa seemed beneficial but then opinions changes. As imperialism spread many began to view imperialism differently than before, while some saw only the benefits of imperialism other saw the disastrous aftermath. In the past imperialism in Africa was viewed as both beneficial and harmful because of the disadvantages of imperialism, the benefits of imperialism, and the effects that imperialism had on the Africans. Although there were benefits of African imperialism, there were also disadvantages for the nations. When writing about African imperialism a British scholar, J.A. Hobson, said that during the period of imperialism there were many wars that were caused by Europeans attacking people who they considered to be lower races (Document 1). The lower races were at a disadvantage because the Africans did not have the same modern weaponry that the Europeans did, which was one of the military causes of new imperialism. Another example is an excerpt from Balance Sheets of Imperialism which points out that, In fact, her expenditures on colonies for that time was 6,856 million lire (Document 8). The model consists of transport equations for plasma density and pressure coupled to a shell model of drift wave turbulence, which incorporates coupling to mesoscale flows via disparate scale interactions. The model can describe the turbulent cascade and its dynamical interplay with zonal and mean shear flows as well as the profile evolution (including the profiles of turbulence intensity itself) due to these self consistent turbulent fluxes. This simple system of equations is shown to capture the low to high confinement (L H) transition. It is also observed that as the heating is increased, the system goes through an intermediate ... In particular, the model of Miki et al.7,19,20 has the advantage of including oscillations between two predators (zonal flows and mean flows) and one prey (turbulence) while achieving the L H transition. As such, it is also able to describe an L I H transition (L H transition with an intermediate phase), which was initially predicted by a 0D model.21,22 However in most of the reduced models, the transport coefficients are determined by an ad hoc shear suppression rule. Here we propose an approach based on shell models, where the shear suppression and the predator prey dynamics are natural results of the disparate scale interactions incorporated within the shell model description. The model that is introduced in this paper is interesting for various reasons. It is significant, for instance, in that it makes use of a simple description of turbulence based on shell models, yet it is able to describe the complex interplay between turbulence and zonal flows in a natural self consistent way, without making use of ad hoc steady state relations such as the shear suppression rule. This is certainly true in the case of Harriet s mistress Mrs. Flint, who, Harriet says, Seemed to think that slaves had no right to family ties of their own; that they were created merely to wait upon the family of the mistress (Jacobs, 34). Mrs. Flint had most likely grown up in a household with slaves, and been around them her whole life. The way she treats her slaves would have developed from the way she saw her parents treat slaves, so she saw nothing wrong with the idea that they were only there to serve herself and her family. A Short Note On My Performance Improvement Program Essay PE STUDIES INTERNAL Confidence is a key aspect to succeed Confidence Belief in one s own abilities, self trust When going to evaluate the effectiveness of my performance improvement programme I needed to consider the experiences that I found when doing the programme and the trainings. I asked myself when doing this programme like what is required in order to improve my kayaking skill level and is confidence really the key to succeeding in improving my performance. In order to find out this information I needed to be honest and clear in my vision to do this an unbiased judgement is needed in evaluating my progress. A performance improvement programme for me in kayaking is key, due to this sport being relatively new to me having no real experience. It s a good way to introduce me to kayaking because it helps you evaluate new areas of the sport like doing an eskimo roll. A programme like this helps me achieve and evaluate specific goals that are both realistic and achievable over a 6 week course and develop the skills and gain what knowledge is required e.g. hip flicking is the most important aspect in rolling in my opinion. I believe it is important to evaluate yourself at the start of the programme to get a gauge at what type of learning you are at, which in my case it was cognitive stage which is defined as develops the understanding of how to perform the skill. This exhibit is home to a plethora of pieces by many different European artists from the 19th and 20th centuries. While it is focused on Matisse and his extensive works, containing more than 50 of his pieces, there are many portraits and sculptures by other influential artists from that time period including Renoir, Picasso, and Georges Braque. Three of the most appealing works that I encountered in this exhibit are Maurice de Vlaminck s Portrait of Père Bouju, Pablo Picasso s Reclining Woman on a Blue Divan, and Henri Matisse s sculpture series Henriette I, Henriette II, and Henriette III. One of the most visually intriguing pieces in the exhibit is the Portrait of Père Bouju by Maurice de Vlaminck. It was painted around the year 1900 by the French artist. It is not particularly beautiful by normal standards. At first glance, the texture of the paint stands out more than any other feature. It has very strongly defined brush strokes and thick paint in portions, especially the face of the man and the background. The lines in the paint are mostly straight, short, and wide with some that are thinner and wavy, like the smoke. The man is in the center of the canvas, he is the only discernable image, and he is almost devoid of detail aside from the face and the hat. The colors are almost entirely neutral aside from the red scarf. In this oil on canvas portrait the man is wearing a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the early 1950s, schools in Topeka, Kansas segregated people by race, leaving Linda Brown and her sister to walk through a hazardous railroad switchyard to get to the bus stop for their school. There was a school closer to where they lived, however, it was an all white school. Linda and her family saw the segregation systems as a violation of the Fourteenth Amendment and took it to court. Federal district courts claimed the segregation was harmful to African American youths, however due to the similar qualities the all black and all white schools shared, it was deemed fully constitutional under the separate, but equal doctrine. The case was taken to the Supreme Court and the court expressed that even though the schools shared similar facilities, segregated schools could never be equal. • 42. I Believe that Piracy Should Be Legal 1. I strongly believe that piracy should be legal. To begin with, the overseeing of private distribution is regulated without set standards and guidelines, almost arbitrarily, and only exists because there exists the assumption that piracy negatively impacts the people that put in work to produce the goods or services in question. From the business standpoint, the driving stance behind those that are against piracy is that piracy is equated to stealing. This is an unreasonable fallacy when it comes to online piracy. It is understandable in the real world, using a car as an example, if you steal a car; the original is no longer there. However, if you were to pirate a movie or a textbook, it is still available for purchase from the creator. Parallels cannot be drawn between online piracy and the real world. Additionally, many multiplayer computer games on the internet are free to play, and the video game industry is thriving. The flagship example would be in the case of Game of Thrones. Game of Thrones is the most pirated object that exists on the internet, and the creators of the show are proud to announce that more than half of its audience watches the show illegally. Given this information, HBO (the network that owns Games of Thrones) still made more revenue during the last quarter of the 2013 year than its biggest competitor (Netflix) and that s with Netflix having a larger customer pool and no problems with piracy. On the other hand, at the edge of the swarm, cells usually paused and then swam back toward the center of the swarm or along its edge. Hence, the properties of the interior of the monolayer was different than the properties of its outer edge. Thus, the local alignment among cells was accomplished by cell body collision and short range hydrodynamic interactions. While there s a fairly good understanding of how bacteria regulate, assemble and rotate their flagella to swim in liquid media, little is still known about how some bacteria is able to use their flagella in order to move over the tops of solids otherwise known as swarming. Thus, Kearns studied what is needed in swarming motility in diverse bacterial model systems such as an increase in the number of flagella per cell, secretion of a surfactant to reduce surface tension for spreading and movement in multicellular groups. Therefore, Kearns was able to determine that swarming motility generally requires an energy rich, solid medium, however, the specific conditions that support swarming depends on the organism in question. His modern interpretation of classic tailoring combined with a desire to use particular materials offer a glimpse into his creative mind. Miller knows this only too well and has seen his creativity copied first hand. I hear a lot of bollocks in the industry about this subject. Of course creativity and business can exist together. The simple fact of the matter is we live in a very cut throat world and if you come up with a beautiful idea and fail to subsequently commodify that idea, be assured there is a very long line of sharks/brands waiting to do it for you. I have people contacting me weekly with brands copying archive products. There s actually a brand at the moment who ve copied details of my SS15 presentation Introversion and released it this week. It s insane. Creativity and business are not a choice in the age of the internet. Your creativity is your business and if you don t see that, someone else ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. Discussing Theories And Types Of Systems Discussing theories and types of systems was a process of looking at situation from a distanced and unrelated point of view. Some concepts were easier to understand because I had previously experienced them or realized my part in a specific system. The first part of the course brought up a lot of questions about the application and ways in which these processes occurred. This approach led to many discussions and ideas about why specific situations were classified as they were within the dynamic systems. Throughout these last sessions, it was evident that many of these theories and concepts could be applied, and visually placed on maps. However, it was represent our ideas visually through mapping that was a hard process in these experiential sessions. This became our complicated system through the project. As we looked retrospectively through our progress in each session, we changed words and arranged ideas as we felt would make sense, and would help us represent our intentions more thoroughly. This was also a moving system that led us to different ways of thinking and understanding others worldview thus increasing our complexity. My group chose an idea fairly fast. Our self organization was very goal directed, as we understood the task and objective of our project. We divided our ideas into two groups, a local issue and an international issue. This was our way to simplify our task. Our local suggestions were between Uber and AirBnB, and our international suggestion was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Who Is Responsible For Romeo And Juliet s Death Romeo and Juliet Essay by: Caden Anderson In Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare every character has some responsibility for Romeo and Juliet s death. If someone was most responsible, it would be both Romeo and Juliet. Some might say that Tybalt is most responsible for the death of the couple, but I think he is not, here is why. It would be impossible for Tybalt to be responsible because of this reason, Romeo killed Tybalt resulting in Romeos banishment, and Tybalt never chose to be killed by Romeo. If this proves anything it is that Tybalt is less responsible ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Evaluation Of A Clinical Skills Essay This essay will discuss a clinical skill in which I have become competent in practicing. I will use a reflective model to discuss how I have achieved the necessary level of competence in my nurse training programme. The reflective model I have chosen to use is Gibbs model (Gibbs 1988). Gibbs model of reflection incorporates the following: description, feelings, evaluation, analysis, conclusion and an action plan (Gibbs 1988). The model will be applied to the essay to facilitate critical thought, relating theory to practice where the model allows. Discussion will include the knowledge underpinning practice and the evidence base for the clinical skill. A conclusion to the essay will then be given which will discuss my reflection skills, acknowledge my competence and show my personal and professional development. The clinical skill I have chosen to reflect on within this essay is the administration of Intramuscular (IM) injections. I have chosen this as within my first clinical placement this was a widely used method of drug administration and I became involved in the process of IM injections. I therefore researched the topic of IM injections and my knowledge within this area developed. The first stage of Gibbs (1988) model of reflection requires a description of events. I was asked to administer a drug to a patient via IM injection. I had observed this clinical skill on a variety of occasions but have not had the chance to administer any IM injection under supervision. On ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
