Benedick In Shakespeare s Much Ado Nothing
Have you ever experience being tricked by your friends in believing someone secretly has feelings for
you? In Much Ado Nothing the play has plenty of trickery leading on into love and romance. For
instance Prince, Claudio, and Leonato imposed Benedick by making him believe Beatrice was deeply
in love with Benedick. Deception occurred in this scenario because they fooled Beatirce and Bendick
fall in love by making them supposed they had love for one another but this was a false statement
invented by Claudio, Prince, Leonato, Hero, and Margaret. The reason they did this was because they
acknowledge how much they hated to even see their presence and firmly believe that by saying a false
statement would create a new vision on how Benedick and Beatrice ... Show more content on

Religion Vs Ramayana
The Ramayana is one of the world s oldest religious epics, dating back to roughly 7,000 B.C. and only
first being written down around 500 B.C. Compare this to the Bible, in which scholars believe that
writing began for the Old Testament around 5,000 B.C. Both of these texts have been continually
updated since their respective creations. Since the Ramayana was first only an oral story, it continually
went through progressive changes, with its first written incarnation taking place around 500 B.C.
Since then, the Ramayana has been continually updated, retold, and reinvigorated. The Ramayana
holds great significance in Indian/Southeast Asian cultures, as it s influenced the sphere since its
creation. It has been told as a play, a movie, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The dharma applies the law, religion, and the ultimate reality in which we leave. In Hinduism, the
concept of dharma or duty applies to everyone, no matter what social status, age, or caste. By
following one s specific dharma, one could break samsara, the cycle of endless rebirth, and achieve
moksha, the liberation from samsara. You cannot count on the physical proximity of someone you
love, all the time. A seed that sprouts at the foot of its parent tree remains stunted until it is
transplanted...Every human being, when the time comes, has to depart and seek his fulfillment in his
own way (Page 9). In Hinduism, the emphasis is placed on an individual s duty to find their own way,
their own purpose. By doing so, own can find purpose in their life, or find fulfillment . While both the
Bible and the Ramayana focus on duty, their versions of duty are different. In the Bible, duty is a
much more unifying concept than an individualistic concept. In the Old Testament, the concept of the
Ten Commandments applies to the duty of Christians. Specifically found in Exodus 20, Moses goes to
the top of Mount Sinai to have a conversation with God. Here, God lies out the Ten Commandments
as a guideline for the lost people who have turned to worshipping false ideals. The concept of the Ten
Commandments applies to all Christians, as it is their duty to obey the Lord out of the love that the
Lord has given them.

Conscious Mind
composed of three elements together with the Conscious mind itself. These three elements of the
subconscious are known as the Id, the Ego and the Superego, all developing at different stages of our
life and all working together with the Conscious mind to create complex human behaviours. The
Superego plays the critical moralizing role. The Ego is the organised, realistic part, mediating between
the desires of the Id and the Superego. The Superego can stop a person from doing certain things that
the Id may want to do. All three elements interact in ways that have a powerful influence on each
individual contributing to each persons own unique personality. The Id is governed by the pleasure
principle. It is the most primitive part of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Freud, the Ego ensures that the impulses of the Id can be expressed in an acceptable
manner it is the reality check, striving to satisfy desires of the Id in socially realistic and appropriate
ways. For example, if stuck in a very long meeting, a feeling of increasing hunger may tempt you to
rush out of the room to find something to eat! The Ego realistically encourages you to wait, maybe
imagining what you will eat once the meeting is over when you can satisfy the demands of the Id in an
appropriate and realistic manner. Freud compared the Id to a horse with the Ego as the rider. The horse
provides motion and power, the rider provides guidance and direction. The Superego is the morality
principle. It holds all of our internalized ideals and moral standards that we acquire from parents,
authority figures and society. It is our sense of right and wrong, providing guidelines for making
judgements. Freud states that the Superego begins to emerge at around the age of three. The Superego
acts to suppress any unacceptable urges of the Id and struggles to make the Ego act upon idealistic
standards rather than upon unrealistic principles. These three aspects of the personality the Id, the Ego
and the Superego do not operate independently. They are unconscious forces operating under the
surface of the thinking and logical Conscious, always interacting within a person thus influencing their
overall behaviour and

Applying Continuous Improvement Instructional Effectiveness
The lesson plan on bullying by kidshealth.org/classroom identifies the health standard: demonstrate
the ability to advocate for personal, family, and community health, and demonstrate the ability to use
interpersonal communication skills to enhance health and avoid or reduce health risks. By using
discussion questions, the teacher is able to scaffold information students already know about bullying
into the discussion. This is effective because the teacher is able to expand the students learning from
what they already know to teaching more in depth information on bullying. This lesson does not offer
suggestions for multiple ability levels or interest. The teacher should incorporate into the lesson ways
to differentiate instruction for students at different ability levels and interest. This lesson does align
with health standards of demonstrating the ability to advocate for personal, family, and community

Whale Talk And Stand By Me Comparison
Comparison Essay
Success is a weird word. Sometimes you spend your whole life trying to find it and sometimes you re
just plain lucky enough to have it already. Success is never given, it s earned by the ones who deserve
it most. But what is it that helps strive people to the end? Does the end even matter? In life, people are
sent on journeys to not only finish, but to experience every little thing along the path. In other words,
life is about the journey and not the destination. In both Whale Talk and Stand by Me, characters find
meaning for their lives by enduring the hard times, pouring themselves into relationships with other
people and staying true to their own systems of belief.
In both Whale Talk and Stand by Me, young misfits find a group of people that make them feel safe
and at home. In Whale Talk, T.J Jones is an adopted boy, but his true family members are not the ones
who adopted him. T.J finds his family within the swim team he takes part in. Chris Coughlin, Andy
Mott, Jackie Craig, Dan Hole are many of T.J s newfound family members that allow him to feel safe.
In the book, family isn t about DNA, it s about who and what feels right. They may not be brother s
but they came out from under the same rock, which means if you re messing with one of em, you re
messing with the other. (Crutcher 199) Biological family never meant a thing to any of the characters

Psychoactive Drugs Book Report
From observing people today and reading the book, there are a lot of similarities for why people used
psychoactive drugs to cope with their environment. The people that I have talked to have mentioned
that they use the drugs to get out of the depression or to forget about it for a while. This can be
because they are depressed about money, relationship, etc. Each of these which can be, in a sense,
their environment since they have to interact with it on either their daily lives or every so often. As for
back then in history, people used the psychoactive drugs to feel happier if they were upset. It also said
in the book that they used to get over their fear of rivals and therefore would be more willing to go

Ancient Egypts Effect on Modern Society
The museum has always been a place for all different types of people from the public to go and
appreciate art and feel reconnected with the past. People may go to the museum for these reasons or a
variety of others. But for whatever reasons they choose to go to the museum it always has an influence
on that person s relationship between them and the history they viewed. Specifically speaking the
museum has a big influence on the public and Ancient Egypt. The museum is already a place of
history and mystery and Ancient Egypt is one of the most mysterious ancient cultures. With so little

history with them. They might be doing this for a variety of reasons. They may just want something
interesting on a shelf to start a discussion where they can gloat about their recent trip to Egypt. Or they
may want to have it because it makes them feel closer to the ancient times and the mystery of it all.
But for whatever reason people always want to have some sort of item that relates them to the history
or journey. The museum does this by providing them with a large varieties, the person who wants to
fulfill that desire of owning a souvenir or relic, to choose from. You can buy almost anything Ancient
Egypt related at the gift shop in a museum. From Lego pens to imitation artifacts, the museum is a
great place to fill a need to buy a souvenir. Also what better time would it be to buy something
Egyptian than right after viewing an exhibit of the real artifacts. So by being able to create a need for a
physical relic and then fulfill it the museum is a perfect place to strengthen the bond between the
public and Ancient Egypt. So the museum as it seams is a very powerful place when it comes to
strengthening the bond between the public and Ancient Egypt. Weather the museum is providing just a

Save Life Analysis
How to Save a Life by The Fray is a song that recalls an important moment in my development when I
was eleven years old. As a young immigrant, I was unaccustomed to the new environment and its
cultures, but the school became a heaven sent piece of the extraordinary puzzle in my life when I
attended Fifth Grade. I loved the time when my mother walked me and my brother who was in First
grade to the school together. My mother was in her mid thirties, she had long, black, and smooth hair,
and a melodious voice when she reminded me to put my belongings inside the bag in the morning. On
our way to school, people would rush to get to where they needed to be. Some people were looking at
their watch anxiously meanwhile rushing to get to the train stations. While others, like my mother,
were hurtling their children to school. Time in the morning, usually went by quickly while I cherished
the company of my family. But it had never occurred to me that I was fearful of my identity in the
society. As The Fray sang in How to Save a Life , step one, you say we need to talk. The talk
symbolized my id conscious, having a conversation to my superego regarding my personal values in
the society.
When I attended Sixth Grade the following year, which located at the opposite side of the
neighborhoods created a burden for my mother. Considering the hardship, I decided to travel to school
unaccompanied. Primitively, I felt distinctly with the power; I am the ownership of myself! Even

Literature Summary Of Thorax
Review of literature
Thorax is a composed of many integrated systems including the muscles, bones and other soft tissues
organ systems, the biomechanics of which, impart the thorax a high mechanical resistance to injury,
mainly due to distinctive elastic properties of the rib and spine system supported by muscles. So,
understanding the complex mechanics of the thorax is critical for understanding the vast multiplex of
injuries sustained in various different circumstances.
Anatomy
The skeleton of the thoracic wall is formed by
the spinal column and 12 thoracic vertebrae
the sternum
12 paired ribs and costal cartilages
The sternum
It is a dagger shaped bone, which forms the anterior part of the thoracic cage and consists of three
parts.
The manubrium
The body
The xiphoid process
The ribs
The ribs run in an oblique, inferior direction from their posterior articulation to their anterior
articulation. For example, rib 2 articulates with the T2 vertebra posteriorly but with the sternal angle at
the T4 vertebral level anteriorly.
There are three types of ribs
1) True ribs
1st to 7th ribs which attach directly to the sternum through their own costal cartilages.
2) False ribs
8th to 10th ribs which are connected to the cartilage of the rib above them
3) Floating ribs
11th and 12th rib which do not connect even indirectly with the sternum
Ribs can be further classified as
1) Typical ribs 3rd to 9th.
A typical rib has a head, neck,

The Existing And Evolving Threat Of Weapons Of Mass...
P407 Terrorism
The existing and evolving threat of Weapons of Mass Destruction
Joshua Garrison
11/24/2014
To understand the threat that is posed by weapons of mass destruction (WMD), what defines a WMD
must first be understood. The definition and use of WMD is covered by 18 U.S. Code § 2332a Use of
weapons of mass destruction. The term weapon of mass destruction is defined as any destructive
device that is further defined under section 921. Under section 921, a destructive device is anything
that has explosive, incendiary, or poison gas properties. 18 U.S. Code § 2332a Use of weapons of
mass destruction expands further by defining a WMD as any type of weapon that is designed to cause
death or serious injury by release, dissemination, or impact by nuclear, biological, or chemical means.
The legal code also covers weapons that release dangerous levels of radiation. Under FBI guidelines,
the term WMD is used to describe a collection of modalities that include: chemical, biological,
radiological, nuclear, and explosive and is over referred to as CBRNE.
There are a couple of sayings about terrorism: the first is that terrorism is a weapon of the weak and
that terrorist want a lot of people watching, not dead . If these saying are true, then the threat or risks
of terrorist using a WMD would be fairly low. And with the consequences of a WMD attack being far
reaching, one must remain alert for changes that may signify a WMD attack. In 1999,

Cold War Vs America
The end of the Cold War has brought about a renewed debate over competing theoretical traditions in
the study of international relations (Pietrzyk, 2001). With the mutual enemy of Nazi Germany, logic
would dictate that as America and the USSR fought as allies during World War Two, their relationship
after the war would be solid and friendly. However, the two countries despised each other because
they were both capable of destroying the other with the Atomic bomb.
As the scientific battle of enhancing the Atomic bomb varied between the countries, the struggle of
USSR communism versus US capitalism grew immensely. The animosity matured into pure
detestation as the Soviet Union passed the Warsaw and as America embarked on aggressive
nationalism. President Truman displayed America s power by prancing the USS Missouri battleship
and the USS Franklin Roosevelt aircraft carrier through the wanted territory, Straights of Dardanelles,

Everyone was being accused of being a communist from public figures to actors and diplomats

described in Arthur Miller s book, The Crucible. During the Salem Witch Trials, many of the so called

The Physics of Bridges Essay
Physics of Bridges
The physics behind bridges is more complex than first meets the eye. To assure that a bridge is well
supported many concepts must be understood and used in the correct manner.
What is a bridge?
A bridge is a complex structure allowing passage across an obstacle: a structure that is built above and
across a river, road, or other obstacle to allow people or vehicles to cross it.
Bridge forms
There are four major forms of bridges: beam, truss, arch, and suspension.
A beam bridge, also known as a girder bridge, contains a horizontal beam supported by 2 piers at each
end. The beam pushes down on the piers, which weakens the overall bridge. These simplistic bridges
are the shortest of all types due to the lack of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Above the bridge, a structure of the same pattern is placed to support the bridge from above. At the
ends of each bridge, there are two similar trusses. This ensures that the bridge stays together, even
when large amounts of weights cross it. By allowing more weight to cross, these bridges can be longer
than beam bridges (they can be up to 500 meters). Forces are the focus of these bridges; each bar
exerts a pushing or pulling force without bending. These forces allows the lightweight bridge to stay
sturdy without collapsing as each steel bar pushes or pulls in the correct direction. Due to this stability,
these bridges are often found over places with unstable ground. Anything from cars to trains are able
to cross over these types of bridges without issues.
There are 4 major concepts in building a bridge that builders must pay attention to; span type, material
of the bridge, the placement of the travel surface in relation to the structure, and the form of the
bridge. When considering all of these concepts, builders can effectively construct a safe and sturdy
bridge.
Newton s 3rd Law
One of the most vital concepts in bridge construction is Newton s 3rd Law. This law states: For every
action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

Analysis Of Heidi s The Great Gatsby
Heidi s tragic side is fully revealed in this entire speech where humor and drama are perfectly blended
to emphasize her moment of realization. She becomes a diminished character who no longer knows
who she is and decides to leave New York to sort out her future. Like a true dark comedy protagonist,
she is vulnerable and has lost control. She realizes her downfalls and the comedy lies in the superiority
felt by the spectator due to man s delight in man s inhumanity to man (Capp 220). In the area of
humanness, Heidi may not be ordinary, but can still be considered an everywoman for her generation.
She is looking for fulfillment, a universal desire shared by women of all generations trying to balance
personal dreams with societal expectations. The illusion of who she longs to be is overshadowed by
her need to laugh off the heartaches and mask her true identity. She attempts to cover the duller
elements of her personality and never turns to a higher power for assistance, as is characteristic of a
dark comic protagonist. Her speech in Act II referenced above shows signs of a dark comic
protagonist who clears his throats and scratches her nose (Styan, The Dark 275). She will never
emerge as a hero, or as Guthke s tenet suggests, be able to clear her pain stricken conscience (162).
She attempts to do so by adopting a baby, however, but it is clear to the spectator that the question of
happiness will remain unanswered for Heidi: SCOOP. But now. Right now.

Compare And Differences Of Fidel Castro And Augusto Pinochet
Compare and contrast the manners in which two authoritarian leaders [Fidel Castro and Augusto
Pinochet] established and maintained their rule during their respective reigns.
Throughout the course of history, several authoritarian leaders have risen to power and maintained
their acquired power through physical, violent means. Two authoritarian leaders that have transformed
their acquired power into dictatorial rights are Fidel Castro of Cuba and Augusto Pinochet of Chile.
Interestingly, Castro and Pinochet differed in their ideals about the ideal structure of governments.
While Castro advocated for a socialist, Marxist, anti imperialist Cuba, Pinochet favored a anti Marxist,
anti socialist, capitalist Chile. Despite their differing ideals, both shared several similarities in their
efforts to establish and maintain their power. Both individuals rose to power in a similar manner: a
sort of coup d état. Both individuals maintained power through positive and negative means. Castro
and Pinochet introduced several economic reforms that mostly benefited the people of Cuba and
Chile. While these economic reforms allowed for the financial freedom of many Cubans and Chileans,
the dictatorial rulers politically repressed the residents of Cuba and Chile. While many historians
believe that Castro and Pinochet greatly differed due to their opposing beliefs, both dictators share
multiple similarities in the ways that they rose to power, negatively maintained power, and positively

Body Worn Cameras
Abstract Due to a series of recent police involved shootings, our nation has been filled with riots and
unrest. American citizens are demanding for more police accountability. One of the most popular
solutions to this problem is the implementation of body worn cameras. There have been very few
studies done on the effects of police forces wearing body worn cameras. I am proposing a year long
research study of the implementation of body worn cameras with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police
Department also known as IMPD. IMPD has six distinct districts that cover different parts of
Indianapolis and its suburbs. I will include all six districts in my study, and I will look at both the
types of use of force techniques that were used as well ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the officer had been wearing a camera, then there would have been evidence showing whether the
officer was guilty or not guilty in this case (Pelfrey Jr. Keener, 2016). After this tragic incident took
place, there were two different accounts of what occurred between Officer Wilson and Michael
Brown. Officer Wilson claimed that he shot Brown in self defense, but witnesses claimed Brown had
his hands up in the air when he was shot. This case is just one of many that is an example of why body
cameras need to be implemented by police forces nationwide. There will always be two sides to every
story, but only hard evidence can prove which side is telling the truth (Nunes, 2015). In the weeks that
followed the Michael Brown shooting, Ferguson was filled with violence, riots, and protests. There
was massive police resistance, and demonstrators were clashing with police officers. Ferguson was all
over the media and it brought up a lot of concerns. Among these concerns were police misconduct,
unnecessary use of force, racial profiling, and police response to rioting and the public recording these
incidences. It is apparent that the public consensus is that body worn cameras are the answer to
preventing another Ferguson from happening (Wasserman,

Criminal Law In Canada
The Canadian criminal law involves the prosecution by the government of a person for an act that has
been categorized as a crime. In order to convict, an individual or party they must have demonstrated or
committed a guilty act, whilst having a guilty state of mind or intentions. In other words, the
individual must represent actus reus, an evil act, and must simultaneously possess mens rea, an evil
mind. It is essential that the prosecution prove both of these elements of the offence to the satisfaction
of the judge beyond reasonable doubt, if there is a lack of one of these elements the defendant will be
innocent of the crime, in the eyes of the law.

Some individuals are obliged by the law to take action stop the crime from happening. One of the
exceptions is when the defendant or the individual himself caused or created the peril. In other words,
an individual must stop a crime, which was committed by his negligence. For example, the defendant
threw a cigar butt, who caused a fire, in this case the defendant s negligence caused a peril, if a person
were to die because of the fire he would be criminally responsible. Another exception is when the
defendant has a special relationship with the victim or contractual duties. The bond between the
defendant and the victim can be of many sorts like family, patient and doctor, or company and
employee. In each relationship, individuals have duties towards each other and if they do not fulfill the
duties, which result into death or another crime, and then they can be criminally prosecuted. Lastly,
when an individual or party has undertaken the rescue. This is when a couple assumes a duty of care
towards there vulnerable relative they assume a duty of voluntary responsibility to look after him and
take care of him, failing to do so they may be charged for criminal offence. Even though, individuals
have the free will and are able to decide their actions, there are exceptions that force individuals to be

International Trade of Developing Countries
International trade of developing countries is the classic weak vs. strong dichotomy, and
underdeveloped or developing countries cannot make it solely on their own efforts; the have nots need

international trade issues is untrammeled or open market activity as opposed to government
intervention by developed nations governments. This begs the question as to what extent the
governments of developed nations are or should be responsible for supporting developing countries

511):
Recent literature on international trade negotiation accords considerable attention to the ways in which
developing countries increasingly coalesce to effect gains for themselves in negotiation, mostly with
the developed world. This is both appropriate and important: from the Uruguay Round to the Doha
Round, coalitions have facilitated the gains (and, at times, the losses) made by the weak against the
strong. (Singh, 2006, p. 499).
Regional agreements and export import aid by developed nations to developing nations have provided
some relief through the U.S. Export Import Bank (Ex Im Bank), the North American Free Trade
Agreement (NAFTA), the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and the European
Union/Common Market, among others (Carbaugh, 2013).
Import Substitution and Export led Growth
The two key approaches by developing nations to implement their own trade policies are import
substitution and export led growth. Import substitution strategy is inward oriented: trade and industrial
incentives favor the domestic market over the export market of developing nations, a strategy utilized
extensively in Latin America by Argentine, Brazil, and Mexico (Carbaugh, 2013, p. 247). Advantages
of this approach include:

Role of the Family Explored in Slapstick and Grapes of Wrath
Role of the Family Explored in Slapstick and Grapes of Wrath
On Maslow s hierarchy of needs, the need for belongingness and love ranks only below the need for
survival, making it one of our most basic needs (Weiten 267). Many people fill this need for affection
by participating in a family unit. However, as the 20th century continues, the emphasis on family in
America is decreasing. Divorce rates, single parent households, and children born out of wedlock are
all increasing. Furthermore, instead of the network of aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins, and other
relatives that was prevalent in early America, Americans today are more distant from their extended
family. As sociologist David Elkind said in a 1996 interview with ... Show more content on

Today s nuclear family with mom, dad, 2.3 kids, and dog only came into being just after the Industrial
Revolution (Swerdolow 15). This leads to the idea that perhaps the desengration of the nuclear family
isn t necessarily a negative things, but more of a retirement of a one way of life in favor of a new one.
Even if this is true, the current period of decline still spurns numerous problems and attempted
solutions.
The changing family isn t a new issue. Over twenty years ago, Kurt Vonnegut presented the idea of the
artificial family in his book Slapstick. President Wilbur Swain, the central character in the novel,
inacts a plan to bring all people in America together by giving them artificial families based on
randomly assigned middle names; the program reaps both positive and negative results. Despite the
many science fiction devices used in the book, the story shows Vonnegut s deep concern for the family
unit. After being asked what was happening to America in an interview, Vonnegut responded by
saying, We re lonesome. We don t have enough friends and relatives anymore (qtd. in Reed and Leeds

changes taking place in the family during the Great Depression in The Grapes of Wrath. Though the

Essay About El Gordo
El Gordo
El Gordo is a spanish lottery that is open to anyone over the age of 18 anywhere in the world. It is
provided by Loterias Y Apuestas in spain. The draw for the lottery is held every sunday and all tickets
bought up to that Sunday are eligible to win. The lottery s name translates to the fat one because this
lottery has the biggest price pot in the world.
History of El Gordo
The first El Gordo lottery was held in 1812. After that, this main draw has been held every christmas
including during the two world wars. The modern version of the lottery is held every sunday and is
open to players from all over the world. The older lottery was started as a way of collection money for
charities, a missions that are still held up to this day. The main reason why the payout for the lottery
held during christmas is usually astronomically high is because the entry tickets are so expensive.

others, you have to select your numbers and wait for the draw that take place on Wednesdays and
Saturdays. PowerBall has very slim chances as there are over 100 million people playing at the same
time.
Players can also try their hand at the Mega MIllions jackpot. The price can rise up to 656 million for a
single ticket. This lottery, unlike El Gordo, has very many players and as with the aforementioned
PowerBall lottery, the chances of winning are very slim. The draw takes place on Tuesdays and

Still Alice In this assignment, I have the opportunity to write a three page review on the book called
Still Alice . It is indicated that this review is not intended to be a summary of the book, but a critical
analysis of the aging issues presented in the work. Therefore, each book review should make relevant
connections to information discussed in class or found in the reading. The book is about a woman
named Alice Howland who has a great life that she has built for her and her family. However, after her
50th birthday, she declines straight into an early onset of Alzheimer s disease and she begins to

In the book, readers learn that Alice s mother gave her a butterfly necklace when she was younger.
Further, when Alice was a small child, she cried over the idea that butterflies have a really short
lifespan. However, Alice s mother felt that a short life did not mean a depressing one but a beautiful
one. Therefore, in Alice s mind, she would be like the butterfly, she would have a short life but a
beautiful life. In class, I learned about caregivers and the roles that they play. In the book, readers
understand the conflict that Alice s husband, John, is experiencing when offered a new position at a
different university and his responsibilities to Alice as a caregiver and husband. Therefore, in class we
learned that the biggest challenge with spouse s caregiving is adjusting to end of parenting, retirement
schedules, financial adjustments, and health changes like dependency, long established roles, and new
demands. In the book, it showed that John largely abandoned his wife to the care of their daughter
Lydia. It was Lydia, Alice and John s youngest child and the one who had a difficult relationship with
her mother in the beginning, who had great compassion and care for her mother. It was also surprising
and amazing that Alice s disease brought their relationship back on track. Therefore, some children s

Summer Ball Summary
Summer Ball by Mike Lupica is a children s literature story of particular interest and young boys. It
follows a 13 year old boy named Danny Walker. Danny is a basketball player who is attending an elite
basketball camp called Right Way in Maine during the summer. Danny is a very good basketball
player but there is a small problem, he is really small. Now he is going to the camp to find out will his
lack of height prevent him from playing with the big boys.
Danny live in Middletown, Long Island with his parents, Richie and Ali Walker, who have recently
reconciled after a long separation. Danny, like his father before him, is a star basketball player whose
elite travel team won the national championship in their age group, largely behind the skills of Danny
and his friends Will and Ty. But Danny has a serious concern he is very short for his age and since his
father is also less than 5 10 tall, he is unlikely to grow to be as tall as he d like to be a better basketball
player. In the beginning, his height didn t hold him back, but in the past year other boys have been
getting taller and he is having trouble competing. He is also considerably shorter than his close friend,
Tess Hewitt, on whom he has a not so secret crush, but their relationship has cooled since she began
hanging out with a new boy who shares her interest in tennis.
As the summer following his 8th grade year begins, Danny s big concern is his upcoming trip to Right

Accidents on the road happen daily. Reducing the likelihood of an accident requires the enforcement
of necessary traffic laws and the use of appropriate safety measures. On occasion, however, certain
safety measures are not taken or enforced when they should be. One such place that has great need for
such measures is the intersection of Eglin Pkwy and 12th Ave in Shalimar Florida. The Eglin Pkwy

Family Secrets In Alison Bechdel s Fun Home
As I read Fun Home, often reading chapters more than once, I had quite a few questions floating
around inside my head. Alison Bechdel dedicates her memoir to Mom, Christian, and John. We did
have a lot of fun, in spite of everything . I found it odd that she didn t include her father in this as well.
After all, without her father, she would not have had much of a story. He was the glue that held the
whole dysfunctional family together and it was his mysterious and depraved manner that compelled
me to turn each twisted page. Bechdel also mentions her family again in the acknowledgments at the
end of her book, Thanks to Helen, Christian, and John Bechdel for not trying to stop me from writing
this book . This brought up the question, what does her family think about her writing her
autobiography? Alison exposes many intensely personal family secrets in her ... Show more content on

The only thing I wasn t a huge fan of was Bechdel s exorbitant vocabulary throughout the entire 232
pages of her book. Reading through each chapter took a lot of stop and go on my part. I found myself
taking short breaks to define pretentious sentences Alison compounded in an attempt to elevate her
comic book autobiography to a higher intellectual level. For example, in chapter four, Alison
remembers a trip to New York City with her brothers and Roy. Alison recalls, And while I
acknowledge the absurdity of claiming a connection to that mythologized flashpoint...might not a
lingering vibration, a quantum particle of rebellion, still have hung in the humectant air (104). Another
example appears in chapter five, Alison states, And my father s life was a solipsistic circle of self,

Mrs Bennet Satire
Bakhtin believes the reason behind the satire especially in the case of Mrs. Bennet is because,
Stupidity in the novel is always polemical: it interacts dialogically with an intelligence... (Bakhtin
403). In other words, because of the mindlessness of Mrs. Bennet the reader can contrast her behavior
towards her oldest daughters. The reasoning behind this is for people to question Mrs. Bennet s
behavior but also to exaggerate how a woman is supposed to behave. Additionally, during this time,
there were some women who on purpose would act anxious similarly to Mrs. Bennet but not as
exaggerated. The idea behind acting anxious goes back to the concept that it was a patriarchal society,
so women were second class citizens and were fragile creatures. ... Show more content on

Bennet s overexaggerated behavior to show how the patriarchal society governed over the life of
women. In this case, Mrs. Bennet s tried to get her daughters to get married to Mr. Collin simply, so
the inheritance would at least go one of her kids instead of women Mr. Collin decides to marry.
Though since Mrs. Bennet s daughter Jane is almost engaged to Mr. Bingley the only other option for
Mr. Collin to marry would be Elizabeth since her other siblings are much too young to marry. Ergo,
Mrs. Bennet tries to influence his decision by mentioning that she is easy going and fairly pretty but is
later on outraged when Charlotte will be the one who marries him since Elizabeth rejects him. In the
book, she mentions, I should be forced to make way for her and live to see her take my place in it!
(Austen 130). By her comment it shows how frustrated Mrs. Bennet was knowing that Charlotte
Lucas, Elizabeth s friend, will be the one who inherit the land. Though it also indirectly portrays how
Mrs. Bennet was also frustrated with society since as already mentioned women had no rights since
they were considered fragile and simply stayed at home worrying about house affairs. These notions in
mind led for women during this time to not able to own their property and limited their rights to

Establishment Republicans Are Not Sniggering
Establishment Republicans are not sniggering at Donald Trump s antics anymore, especially as he
threatens to go solo in November if party insiders scheme to deny him the nomination. Echoes of
similarly irate conservative Teddy Roosevelt and his Bull Moose party sinking the Republican (GOP)
national campaign in 1912 get louder every time Trump wins a primary state. After the real estate
mogul announced his candidacy in June last year, party leaders contentedly sat back in the peanut
gallery ridiculing his naked attempts at demagoguery. Later, they dismissed Trump s surging poll
numbers as an electoral blip sparked by fringe sections of the party base that loathed the GOP s
handling of Congress. Moreover, they believed Trump s novelty act as the outsider would soon wear
out and make GOP voters collectively come to their senses and coalesce behind either Marco Rubio or
Jeb Bush, the party s blue eyed boys. This cocksure feeling has now given way to one of dread as
Trump keeps notching victories in the primary season. A new Rasmussen poll puts Trump 15 points
clear of closest rival Ted Cruz. More worryingly, 24% of Trump s base will very likely vote for him if
he runs as an independent, effectively torching GOP hopes of preventing a Democratic three peat in
the White House. Republican rivals have tried ganging up on Trump in debates, running attack ads to
discredit him but nothing really stuck so the establishment is changing tack. Influential leaders of the

Landmark Educational Court Cases Essay
Throughout history there have been various influential court cases involving Education. These
important cases and their outcomes act as milestones on the road to a successful education System in
the United States. Topics such as race, religion and gender equality within schools have all been
vigorously debated upon and have ultimately played major roles in shaping today s education system.
By examining civil rights and acting upon these rights many important educational court cases have
allowed many students a greater chance for efficient and equal learning opportunities in the classroom.
Brief History
One of the important landmark educational court cases, is the 1974 ruling of Lau v. Nichols. As more
immigrants establish homes in the United States, they face many difficulties adapting to everyday life
having English as their second language or having no knowledge of the English language at all.
During 1971, San Francisco schools were integrated and created more diverse and bilingual groups of
students which exemplified this issue within the school system (Developing ELL Programs). Though
previous actions had been made to accommodate students with lack of English proficiency, there were
still a large number of students that did not receive any help.
Lau, along with many other Chinese American students in San Francisco found their school district
did not do its job in providing equal opportunity to students in this circumstance. This resulted in a

Native American Beliefs In Native America And Sir Walter...
Long before the first Europeans arrived Native Americans, had their own religions, lifestyles, and
customs. While these cultures were similar in some ways to the civilized nations, they were also very
different. Upon arrival in the New World some people, such as Thomas Hariot, set out to document
these new peoples, and their ways of life and, as was important in those days, their religion. By
informing people in England of the New World, more settlers would be likely to come. If possible
travelers are informed of their destination, there will be less apprehension about going. Thomas Hariot
was one such informer. An Englishman who accompanied Sir Walter Raleigh on his voyage to
establish a colony in the New World, he kept accounts of his explorations and later had them
published in his A Briefe and True Report of the New Found Land of Virginia. His book described the
land and people of Virginia as he traveled the country. One of the tribes he wrote about and described
was known as the Algonquin. Hariot described the people of the tribe as being [C]lothed in loose
mantles made of Deere skins and aprons of the same rounde about their middle; all els[e] naked...
allowing his English readers to realize the Algonquin were slightly unprogressive compared to
themselves in terms of clothing. Yet the author does not seem to look down upon the natives for their

In March 2013, President Barack Obama signed a federal statue into law that would change the way
Americans receive healthcare. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, better known as the
Affordable Care Act, and sometimes called Obamacare is the most significant revision of the U.S.
healthcare system since the passage of Medicare and Medicaid back in 1965. The main function of the
Affordable Care Act is to improve hospitals and physicians practices financially, technologically, and
clinically so the health outcomes and lower costs. Americans are split, as they are with most political
issues, on whether or not the act is a viable solution to our healthcare problem. Even though it has had
its problems such as a faulty website and being thought of as too complicated and expensive for the
American government to take on, I believe the Affordable Care Act is a good solution for the
healthcare problems in our country. Before the Affordable Healthcare Act, there were a few healthcare
reform bills proposed and passed by Congress and earlier presidents. President Bill Clinton proposed a
healthcare reform bill that would make employers responsible for providing their employees with
health insurance. The Republicans did not agree with that plan and suggested an alternative that would
require individuals to buy insurance. The Clinton bill ended up failing because of negative advertising
and concerns that it was way too complex (Roy). He instead passed the State Children s

The Government Inspector Essay
Larry Begam
Russian 210
Essay #2
3/10/15
The Government Inspector
The Government Inspector, written by Nikolai Gogol is a satirical play, which is considered one of the
masterpieces of Russian literature. Gogol writes brilliantly about a small town in 19th century Russia
and aims to satirize human greed as well as stupidity and government corruption. His ability to use
comedy when dealing with serious political issues throughout the play is a large focal point of the
work and continues to be praised today. Nikolai Gogol was best known for his short stories and was
given the idea for The Government Inspector by Alexander Pushkin. Shortly after its release, Gogol
faced heavy criticism by the government officials that his play lampooned and ... Show more content

The town s local government officials desperately try to mislead Khlestakov while he tries to continue
the charade and attempts to deceive them as well. Khlestakov even takes his deception so far that it
almost seems as though he is starting to believe his own lies. On the table, for instance, is a water
melon that costs seven hundred roubles. The soup comes straight from Paris by steamer in the tureen:
there s nothing in the world to be compared with its flavour! (38). We can also see that not only did
the townspeople attempt to deceive Khlestakov, but also they essentially deceived themselves by the
end of the play. Gogol is able to show how the chaos of the government inspector s visit sent everyone
into frenzy and did not actually accomplish anything. Gogol s primary focus is that the human
condition is imperfect and that we will always try to save our selves when we are in danger as well as
take advantage of any situation that allows us to. Gogol did a great job of presenting this through
Khlestakov s and the Mayor s actions. Gogol s mission to explain his view of our perpetual chain of
chaos is applied to the 19th century Russian bureaucracy in a way that is not clearly evident at first but
fits perfectly with the

The Safety Of Driving And Driving
Government interference was first introduced under the automobile industry dating back to the very
early 1900s, with a large topic that many people miss when going back into history: the safety of it all.
We, the population of today, are given the ability to drive up to 85mph without thinking twice about it,
our only focus being on the destination. This is recompensed to the drivers of the twenty first century
through the technical advances in firm laws, better drivers education systems, and safer roads and
vehicles. On the other hand, this was not the case a century ago, nor were drivers given the same
luxury just fifty years ago. As the high end, expensive motorized vehicle for the opulence became
cheaper and more common on the streets, danger risks peeked increasingly year after year. As broad as
it may seem, there were only two things that caused accidents on the road: lack of education when
needed in specific situations and orders to abide by. A century ago, no one thought otherwise when it
came to speeding on left turns, drinking and driving, and following the simplest, safest guidelines that
includes just wearing a seatbelt, and so this is when the government intervenes. Dating all the way
back to 1901, Connecticut was the very first state to enforce a speeding limit on motorized vehicles,
an annoying facet of today s roads from the eyes of our speeding parents. This limited the cars to
driving 12 mph within the cities and 15 mph along country roads. (History.com

Essay On Benefits Of Chipotle
With the right ingredients, speed, quality and leadership, Chipotle has reinvented the fast food
business. Serving food with integrity has produced big profits.
Doing business overseas takes time and patience. It requires new relationships to be established;
therefore, it is important to have an established business model that works according to plan. The most
favorable markets are politically stable developed and developing nations with free market systems,
low inflation, and low private sector dept. The less desirable markets are politically unstable
developing nations with mixed or command economies or developing nations where speculative
financial bubbles have led to excess borrowing.
There are no right decisions with foreign market entry, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Nordic countries are a culturally and politically overlapping group of parliamentary democracies
located in Northern Europe. Individually, they tend to score near the top of most global achievement
lists, in areas like women s rights, environmentalism, quality of education, and homeless outreach.
When taken together, they comprise the 7th largest area in the world. At 1,3 million square miles, that
is about the same size as India. But unlike similarly large nations, the Nordic countries have some of
the lowest population density in the world, with only 26 million total residents. This is mostly because
half of their land is uninhabited arctic, if you include Greenland. But even without Greenland, the rest
of the remaining countries are still larger than Germany, France, and Italy combined. Economically
they are quite well off. When compared with the European Union, the Nordic countries have had
much stronger GDP growth over the past ten years. Only Finland has changed its currency over to the
Euro. Combined, their GDP reached 1.7 trillion dollars in 2015, which would make them the 12th
richest area in the world, just below Canada. Per capita, Norway s GDP alone is 80% higher than the
Eurozone s, and it s residents enjoy the highest standard of living in the world. In fact, all of the
primary Nordic countries rank in the top 25 highest standards of living, with Norway being

Should Creationism Be Taught In Public Schools Essay
If you walk into a public school science classroom and ask the students what they were taught
pertaining to the creation of the universe, most likely the majority of them will talk about the Big
Bang theory or the theory of evolution. This has always been a topic of interest that has caused many
debates on whether public schools should teach creationism in the classrooms. Creationism is the
belief that the universe was created by specific acts of divine creation and is more known as Genesis
to the Abrahamic religions. In my opinion creationism is a subject that should be taught alongside of
science because it can develop critical thinking skills for the students, it will satisfy the demand of the
people, and will fulfill our freedom of speech. Many educators will disagree that creationism should
be taught in public schools because they say it is disapproved by science and will be a waste of time
since it is religious. Creationism is no more religious than the theory of the Big Bang, if you ask me it
takes greater faith to believe that something came out of nothing. The Big Bang theory is ... Show

We can agree that scientist are people whose job is to explain why something is how it is, but there
humans just like us and they also have their own beliefs therefore they can be bias, since there not
neutral and like everybody else they grew up with certain beliefs that can determines what they do
with the evidence. After spending some time doing research on scientific theories about creation and
creationism, I can say that all the theories of creation is no more truthful than creationism, and instead
of just teaching scientific theories in the school system, we should push for creationism to be taught as
well for the purpose of supplying demand, freedom of speech, and developing critical thinking skills

The History of the Golden Gate Bridge Essay
Stretching across the San Francisco Bay stands the world famous Golden Gate Bridge. The bridge is
located in one of nature s most beautiful settings, spanning the mile wide bay from Fort Point in San
Francisco to the Marin County Shore. Joseph Strauss, specializing in bridge building, was the leader
of the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge. The start of construction began on January 5, 1993 and,
after four years, was completed on April 27, 1997. The bridge was needed to be built because of the
growing population after the California Gold Rush. The bridge was a difficult task for engineers and is
now an inspiration. The Golden Gate Bridge is one of the largest suspension bridges and is well
known around the world. The Golden Gate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was most certainly familiar with the job.
In 1919, a study was begun to see if it would be possible to build a bridge across the Golden Gate.
Michael O Shaughnessy was the San Francisco city engineer. He was in charge of the rebuilding of
the city after the devastating 1906 earthquake that destroyed much of the city. O Shaughnessy knew
the need for the city to have bridges. Most said it could not be done and others said it could be done
but it would cost about $100 million to build it (Barter 23). O Shaughnessy and Strauss, both wanting
the same thing, got together. After the two consulted, they figured the only way to bridge the channel
was to use a suspension bridge.
Once O Shaughnessy and Strauss believed they could build the bridge, politics came into the picture.
In 1923, the California state legislature passes a bill that allowed the establishment of a Golden Gate
Bridge and Highway District. The district s job was to oversee the project and run the bridge once it
was built. Over the next few years, many people spoke up both for and against the building of the
bridge. The land on both ends of the bridge was owned by the U.S. military. Before any plans could
move forward, the military would have to approve the project and give the Bridge District permission
to use War Department land. An army colonel was appointed to hold hearings on the matter and for
seven months, he listened to both

Compare this to the Bible, in which scholars believe that writing began for the Old Testament around 5,000 B.C. Both of these texts have been continually updated since their respective creations. Since the Ramayana was first only an oral story, it continually went through progressive changes, with its first written incarnation taking place around 500 B.C. It is our sense of right and wrong, providing guidelines for making judgements. Freud states that the Superego begins to emerge at around the age of three. • 19. The Existing And Evolving Threat Of Weapons Of Mass... P407 Terrorism The existing and evolving threat of Weapons of Mass Destruction Joshua Garrison 11/24/2014 To understand the threat that is posed by weapons of mass destruction (WMD), what defines a WMD must first be understood. The definition and use of WMD is covered by 18 U.S. Code § 2332a Use of weapons of mass destruction. The term weapon of mass destruction is defined as any destructive device that is further defined under section 921. Under section 921, a destructive device is anything that has explosive, incendiary, or poison gas properties. 18 U.S. Code § 2332a Use of weapons of mass destruction expands further by defining a WMD as any type of weapon that is designed to cause death or serious injury by release, dissemination, or impact by nuclear, biological, or chemical means. The legal code also covers weapons that release dangerous levels of radiation. Under FBI guidelines, the term WMD is used to describe a collection of modalities that include: chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive and is over referred to as CBRNE. There are a couple of sayings about terrorism: the first is that terrorism is a weapon of the weak and that terrorist want a lot of people watching, not dead . If these saying are true, then the threat or risks of terrorist using a WMD would be fairly low. And with the consequences of a WMD attack being far reaching, one must remain alert for changes that may signify a WMD attack. In 1999, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, the two countries despised each other because they were both capable of destroying the other with the Atomic bomb. As the scientific battle of enhancing the Atomic bomb varied between the countries, the struggle of USSR communism versus US capitalism grew immensely. The animosity matured into pure detestation as the Soviet Union passed the Warsaw and as America embarked on aggressive nationalism. This ensures that the bridge stays together, even when large amounts of weights cross it. By allowing more weight to cross, these bridges can be longer than beam bridges (they can be up to 500 meters). Forces are the focus of these bridges; each bar exerts a pushing or pulling force without bending. These forces allows the lightweight bridge to stay sturdy without collapsing as each steel bar pushes or pulls in the correct direction. Due to this stability, these bridges are often found over places with unstable ground. Anything from cars to trains are able to cross over these types of bridges without issues. There are 4 major concepts in building a bridge that builders must pay attention to; span type, material of the bridge, the placement of the travel surface in relation to the structure, and the form of the bridge. When considering all of these concepts, builders can effectively construct a safe and sturdy bridge. Newton s 3rd Law One of the most vital concepts in bridge construction is Newton s 3rd Law. • 23. Analysis Of Heidi s The Great Gatsby Heidi s tragic side is fully revealed in this entire speech where humor and drama are perfectly blended to emphasize her moment of realization. She becomes a diminished character who no longer knows who she is and decides to leave New York to sort out her future. Like a true dark comedy protagonist, she is vulnerable and has lost control. She realizes her downfalls and the comedy lies in the superiority felt by the spectator due to man s delight in man s inhumanity to man (Capp 220). In the area of humanness, Heidi may not be ordinary, but can still be considered an everywoman for her generation. She is looking for fulfillment, a universal desire shared by women of all generations trying to balance personal dreams with societal expectations. The illusion of who she longs to be is overshadowed by her need to laugh off the heartaches and mask her true identity. She attempts to cover the duller elements of her personality and never turns to a higher power for assistance, as is characteristic of a dark comic protagonist. Her speech in Act II referenced above shows signs of a dark comic protagonist who clears his throats and scratches her nose (Styan, The Dark 275). She will never emerge as a hero, or as Guthke s tenet suggests, be able to clear her pain stricken conscience (162). She attempts to do so by adopting a baby, however, but it is clear to the spectator that the question of happiness will remain unanswered for Heidi: SCOOP. But now. Right now. ... • 24. Compare And Differences Of Fidel Castro And Augusto Pinochet Compare and contrast the manners in which two authoritarian leaders [Fidel Castro and Augusto Pinochet] established and maintained their rule during their respective reigns. Throughout the course of history, several authoritarian leaders have risen to power and maintained their acquired power through physical, violent means. Two authoritarian leaders that have transformed their acquired power into dictatorial rights are Fidel Castro of Cuba and Augusto Pinochet of Chile. Interestingly, Castro and Pinochet differed in their ideals about the ideal structure of governments. While Castro advocated for a socialist, Marxist, anti imperialist Cuba, Pinochet favored a anti Marxist, anti socialist, capitalist Chile. Despite their differing ideals, both shared several similarities in their efforts to establish and maintain their power. Both individuals rose to power in a similar manner: a sort of coup d état. Both individuals maintained power through positive and negative means. Castro and Pinochet introduced several economic reforms that mostly benefited the people of Cuba and Chile. While these economic reforms allowed for the financial freedom of many Cubans and Chileans, the dictatorial rulers politically repressed the residents of Cuba and Chile. While many historians believe that Castro and Pinochet greatly differed due to their opposing beliefs, both dictators share multiple similarities in the ways that they rose to power, negatively maintained power, and positively ... American citizens are demanding for more police accountability. One of the most popular solutions to this problem is the implementation of body worn cameras. I am proposing a year long research study of the implementation of body worn cameras with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department also known as IMPD. Officer Wilson claimed that he shot Brown in self defense, but witnesses claimed Brown had his hands up in the air when he was shot. This case is just one of many that is an example of why body cameras need to be implemented by police forces nationwide. There will always be two sides to every story, but only hard evidence can prove which side is telling the truth (Nunes, 2015). In the weeks that followed the Michael Brown shooting, Ferguson was filled with violence, riots, and protests. There was massive police resistance, and demonstrators were clashing with police officers. Ferguson was all over the media and it brought up a lot of concerns. Many people fill this need for affection by participating in a family unit. However, as the 20th century continues, the emphasis on family in America is decreasing. Divorce rates, single parent households, and children born out of wedlock are all increasing. • 42. Obamacare The Affordable Care Act In March 2013, President Barack Obama signed a federal statue into law that would change the way Americans receive healthcare. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, better known as the Affordable Care Act, and sometimes called Obamacare is the most significant revision of the U.S. healthcare system since the passage of Medicare and Medicaid back in 1965. The main function of the Affordable Care Act is to improve hospitals and physicians practices financially, technologically, and clinically so the health outcomes and lower costs. Americans are split, as they are with most political issues, on whether or not the act is a viable solution to our healthcare problem. Even though it has had its problems such as a faulty website and being thought of as too complicated and expensive for the American government to take on, I believe the Affordable Care Act is a good solution for the healthcare problems in our country. Before the Affordable Healthcare Act, there were a few healthcare reform bills proposed and passed by Congress and earlier presidents. President Bill Clinton proposed a healthcare reform bill that would make employers responsible for providing their employees with health insurance. The Republicans did not agree with that plan and suggested an alternative that would require individuals to buy insurance. The Clinton bill ended up failing because of negative advertising and concerns that it was way too complex (Roy). He instead passed the State Children s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. The Government Inspector Essay Larry Begam Russian 210 Essay #2 3/10/15 The Government Inspector The Government Inspector, written by Nikolai Gogol is a satirical play, which is considered one of the masterpieces of Russian literature. Gogol writes brilliantly about a small town in 19th century Russia and aims to satirize human greed as well as stupidity and government corruption. His ability to use comedy when dealing with serious political issues throughout the play is a large focal point of the work and continues to be praised today. Nikolai Gogol was best known for his short stories and was given the idea for The Government Inspector by Alexander Pushkin. Shortly after its release, Gogol faced heavy criticism by the government officials that his play lampooned and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The town s local government officials desperately try to mislead Khlestakov while he tries to continue the charade and attempts to deceive them as well. Khlestakov even takes his deception so far that it almost seems as though he is starting to believe his own lies. On the table, for instance, is a water melon that costs seven hundred roubles. The soup comes straight from Paris by steamer in the tureen: there s nothing in the world to be compared with its flavour! (38). We can also see that not only did the townspeople attempt to deceive Khlestakov, but also they essentially deceived themselves by the end of the play. Gogol is able to show how the chaos of the government inspector s visit sent everyone into frenzy and did not actually accomplish anything. Gogol s primary focus is that the human condition is imperfect and that we will always try to save our selves when we are in danger as well as take advantage of any situation that allows us to. Gogol did a great job of presenting this through Khlestakov s and the Mayor s actions. Gogol s mission to explain his view of our perpetual chain of chaos is applied to the 19th century Russian bureaucracy in a way that is not clearly evident at first but fits perfectly with the ... • 44. The Safety Of Driving And Driving Government interference was first introduced under the automobile industry dating back to the very early 1900s, with a large topic that many people miss when going back into history: the safety of it all. We, the population of today, are given the ability to drive up to 85mph without thinking twice about it, our only focus being on the destination. This is recompensed to the drivers of the twenty first century through the technical advances in firm laws, better drivers education systems, and safer roads and vehicles. On the other hand, this was not the case a century ago, nor were drivers given the same luxury just fifty years ago. As the high end, expensive motorized vehicle for the opulence became cheaper and more common on the streets, danger risks peeked increasingly year after year. As broad as it may seem, there were only two things that caused accidents on the road: lack of education when needed in specific situations and orders to abide by. A century ago, no one thought otherwise when it came to speeding on left turns, drinking and driving, and following the simplest, safest guidelines that includes just wearing a seatbelt, and so this is when the government intervenes. Dating all the way back to 1901, Connecticut was the very first state to enforce a speeding limit on motorized vehicles, an annoying facet of today s roads from the eyes of our speeding parents. This limited the cars to driving 12 mph within the cities and 15 mph along country roads. (History.com ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Nordic countries are a culturally and politically overlapping group of parliamentary democracies located in Northern Europe. Individually, they tend to score near the top of most global achievement lists, in areas like women s rights, environmentalism, quality of education, and homeless outreach. When taken together, they comprise the 7th largest area in the world. At 1,3 million square miles, that is about the same size as India. But unlike similarly large nations, the Nordic countries have some of the lowest population density in the world, with only 26 million total residents. This is mostly because half of their land is uninhabited arctic, if you include Greenland. But even without Greenland, the rest of the remaining countries are still larger than Germany, France, and Italy combined. Economically they are quite well off. When compared with the European Union, the Nordic countries have had much stronger GDP growth over the past ten years. Only Finland has changed its currency over to the Euro. Combined, their GDP reached 1.7 trillion dollars in 2015, which would make them the 12th richest area in the world, just below Canada. Per capita, Norway s GDP alone is 80% higher than the Eurozone s, and it s residents enjoy the highest standard of living in the world. • 46. Should Creationism Be Taught In Public Schools Essay If you walk into a public school science classroom and ask the students what they were taught pertaining to the creation of the universe, most likely the majority of them will talk about the Big Bang theory or the theory of evolution. This has always been a topic of interest that has caused many debates on whether public schools should teach creationism in the classrooms. Creationism is the belief that the universe was created by specific acts of divine creation and is more known as Genesis to the Abrahamic religions. In my opinion creationism is a subject that should be taught alongside of science because it can develop critical thinking skills for the students, it will satisfy the demand of the people, and will fulfill our freedom of speech. Many educators will disagree that creationism should be taught in public schools because they say it is disapproved by science and will be a waste of time since it is religious. Creationism is no more religious than the theory of the Big Bang, if you ask me it takes greater faith to believe that something came out of nothing. The Big Bang theory is ... • 48. The History of the Golden Gate Bridge Essay Stretching across the San Francisco Bay stands the world famous Golden Gate Bridge. The bridge is located in one of nature s most beautiful settings, spanning the mile wide bay from Fort Point in San Francisco to the Marin County Shore. Joseph Strauss, specializing in bridge building, was the leader of the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge. The start of construction began on January 5, 1993 and, after four years, was completed on April 27, 1997. The bridge was needed to be built because of the growing population after the California Gold Rush. The bridge was a difficult task for engineers and is now an inspiration. He was most certainly familiar with the job. In 1919, a study was begun to see if it would be possible to build a bridge across the Golden Gate. Michael O Shaughnessy was the San Francisco city engineer. He was in charge of the rebuilding of the city after the devastating 1906 earthquake that destroyed much of the city. O Shaughnessy knew the need for the city to have bridges. Most said it could not be done and others said it could be done but it would cost about $100 million to build it (Barter 23). O Shaughnessy and Strauss, both wanting the same thing, got together. After the two consulted, they figured the only way to bridge the channel was to use a suspension bridge. Once O Shaughnessy and Strauss believed they could build the bridge, politics came into the picture. In 1923, the California state legislature passes a bill that allowed the establishment of a Golden Gate Bridge and Highway District. The district s job was to oversee the project and run the bridge once it was built. Over the next few years, many people spoke up both for and against the building of the bridge. The land on both ends of the bridge was owned by the U.S. military. Before any plans could move forward, the military would have to approve the project and give the Bridge District permission to use War Department land. An army colonel was appointed to hold hearings on the matter and for seven months, he listened to both ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
