Loie Fuller s Dance Critique
Critique 1
On Friday, September 11th at 7:00 PM, I attended Dancestry by the Shay Ishii Dance Company. This
performance was held by Texas State University s Department of Theatre and Dance.
The vision for the performance was to take modern dance pioneers and highlighting their work and
contributions.
The first segment of the night was highlighting Loie Fuller. Fuller was a choreographer and dancer of
a unique and beautiful style of dance, using dazzling and flowing silk dresses. Her breakthrough in
what became known as Serpentine Dance . In Friday s performance, it was evident that the beauty of
the dance wasn t because of the flowing dresses, but the lighting used to create beautiful images.
When the performance started, I was very confused. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her tribute consisted of three movements from Chopin Suite. All of them involved three young
women. The unique thing about these dances that separated them from the others showcased was that I
was actually able to follow them. They were more story like than the rest. Duncan s dance style was
similar to Fuller in that she utilized flowing scarves and dresses to enhance the dances. This part of the
show was my favorite, I love dances that tell a clear cut story, and Isadora Duncan s style of dance
allowed for that to happen.
The last segment of the night was highlighting the work of Erick Hawkins. Hawkins vision consisted
of unique dancing, costuming, and overall style of performance. He utilized traditions from New
Zealand tribes in his work. I personally was not a fan of the Hawkins performances. There was a lot of
nonsensical movements, and there was just too much going on the stage. Although there was only the
one stage, there were at times so many separate movements going on at once, it seemed that there
were 3 or 4 separate stages. I can see the appeal that some audience members could have had in
viewing this dance style, though. The music was very interesting, and the costumes even more so. I
was reminded at times of the Lion King. There were leaping antelope, huge porcupines, and several
fish all dancing on the stage. Although I wasn t very interested in Hawkin s dance style,

Pros And Cons Of Cursive Writing
My own point of view of the controversial descion of cursive writing is some what both sided.
Although there are many pros and few cons of cursive writing I still feel as though that cursive writing
is esssential to whatever your higher educational needs may be. I also feel that it is unessecary to
succeed your educational goals whatever they may be. In this breifly detailed essay I will be
expalining why I feel as the above reflects.
One of the reasons I feel as thought cursive writing does not need to be academic need to this modern
day and age is because technology does all the writng for us. The reason I so srongly feel this is
because back in the days when computers, cell phones, and other electrical devices were not created

Green Walls Documentary Summary
What is the purpose of the documentary? The purpose of the documentary was about implementing
green walls and to show people how integrating nature within our infrastructure will improve the
quality of life for humans, nature and our planet. This film was also created to change our perspective
of how we think about reintegrating nature in dense and fully developed communities so that it not
only fits into the functionality of our infrastructure but it also can restore our plants and wildlife.
What is the main message the director wants to get across to the audience? The directors message was
that this is a movement that we all can afford to get behind. It will have nothing but positive
influences on our health, infrastructure and our plant and wild life. There was ... Show more content

I also have some knowledge about rooftop gardens prior to this course and I learned more from earlier
from other documentaries from the previous weeks.
What did you expect to see? I expected to see the film focus more on rooftop gardens or community
gardens. I did not expect to see the whole country so involved in creating green walls and rooftop
gardens all over. I also did not expect to see how much thought went into planning their parks to make
sure that they somehow connect that way wildlife has the ability to move around without obstruction.
What questions did you have in mind about the subject? My only question and concern that I had
throughout the whole film was about how do they control pest? I know that in San Diego County that
anyone who has plants growing on their house or near the roof, they most likely will have rodent
issues. My question is, how can we create green walls or roof gardens in our communities without
having to fight of pest or have to use chemicals to drive them

The Pros And Cons Of The Woolly Mammoth
Biology Issues Investigations: Should we bring back the woolly mammoth from extinction? Or should
we not tamper with the past and leave things how they are?
Why do humans go to such extents to protect endangered species? The same questioning applies to
species brought back from extinction; it is to preserve biodiversity, to restore deserted and destroyed
ecosystems, to advance the science of preventing extinctions, and to undo harm that humans have
caused in the past.
Additionally, the prospect of resurrection is profound news. That something as irreversible and final as
extinction might be reversed is an astonishing realization. The imagination spirals does it not? Just the
thought of mammoths wandering the alive the wilderness again invokes the awe and wonder that
drives all conservation at its deepest level.
Woolly Mammoths were the dominant herbivore of the mammoth steppe in the far north, once the
largest biomes on Earth. In their absence, the grasslands they helped sustain were replaced by species
poor tundra and boreal forest. Their return to the north would bring back carbon fixing grass and
reduce greenhouse gas releasing tundra, which would be an extremely helpful and positive
environmental impact. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Should we be tampering with the past, trying to atone for some of the errors humanity made so long
ago. Scientist believes that even if a species is physically extinct, there is still a biological existence
lurking in fossils and other materialised objects belong to species. Even some that could possibly be
awoken from their 200,000 year long slumber. Is this ethically okay? Is this breaking the bonds of
death that this species was potentially longing for? Were they meant to go

The Qin Dynasty And The Chinese Empire Essay
Before the Qin Dynasty, China was composed of a network of city states that were loyal to the
Chinese king. The seven Warring States had their own institutions that were run by aristocrats. The
Qin Dynasty took initiative to expand their territory and to unite the Chinese empire together. Through
their ruthless military techniques the Qin Dynasty was able to conquer the city states in China. The
Qin Dynasty ruled from 221 BCE 206 BCE; during their regime, Emperor Qin s primary goal was to
unify the Chinese people. Even though the Qin Dynasty was a short lived empire, it played a major
role in unifying the Chinese empire and provided a foundation for succeeding regimes through a
centralized government, standardized systems, and through infrastructure. Even though the Qin
Dynasty deprived the civilization of education, it created a strong bureaucratic system that limited
feudal power and developed a cooperative population. Each Warring state followed a different
political system, before it was conquered by Qin. The First Emperor, Qin Shi Huang, felt it was
necessary to legitimize his power to unify the city states and for a cooperative population. In the Qin
Dynasty, the institution of emperor had a special meaning in China as the repository of imperial
legitimacy (Feng 2013, 249). In other words, the first emperor was given the title of being a mythical
ruler that had godly powers and is the righteous leader of the empire based on the Mandate of Heaven

Characterization, Symbolism, and Irony in The Scarlet Letter
The Scarlet Letter, written by Nathaniel Hawthorne, is a novel about a young woman who commits
adultery and is forced to wear the letter A, which symbolizes adultery, on her chest. In this novel,
Hawthorne includes many symbols to display hidden meanings, including character symbols to wake
up the reader. Irony is an important element as well, used to reveal the hypocrisy of humankind. The
Scarlet Letter is a unique blend of characters, irony and symbolism. Hester Prynne is first described in
the scaffold scene as, tall, with a figure of perfect elegance on a large scale. She had dark and
abundant hair, so glossy that it threw off the sunshine with a gleam, and a face which, besides being
beautiful from regularity of feature and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Arthur Dimmesdale is a character of depression and darkness. He is young, pale has large, melancholy
eyes and a tremulous mouth, suggesting great sensitivity (Cliffsnotes). He is a well known, well
educated, Puritan minister, and has a high reputation. There is no doubt that he is devoted to God,
passionate in his religion, and effective in the pulpit (Cliffsnotes). In the beginning of the novel,
Dimmesdale is pictured as a good, quiet man, and the townspeople admire him. He becomes very ill,
and the doctor, Roger Chillingworth, cannot determine what is causing his sickness for quite a while.
Finally, the novel exposes that Dimmesdale is sick because of his horrible guilt. It would seem that he
would never commit any significant sin, yet the novel reveals that Dimmesdale is Hester Prynne s
lover. Dimmesdale, Hester, and Pearl all meet one day in the forest, and they plan to take a ship to
England, where Hester was born. When they were about to board the ship, Chillingworth was spotted
standing on it. Dimmesdale sees him and decides that he cannot take it anymore. His guilt was,
literally, killing him. He presents himself on the scaffold and announces to the town that he was Hester
s lover. However, the crowd does not believe him and thinks that the devil was forcing him to become
crazy. Dimmesdale s guilt finally gets the best of him, and he dies on the scaffold. Roger
Chillingworth is a man deficient in human warmth (SparkNotes). He

Using Islamic Banks, Commercial Banks And Dual Banks
We conduct a raft of additional tests to ensure the robustness of our findings. First, our sample consists
of Islamic banks, commercial banks and dual banks, thus to ascertain how MLG work among the three
categories, we re run equation (1) by separating the sample to three sub samples: Islamic banks (IBs);
commercial banks (CBs); and dual banks (DBs). The results reported in models 2, 3, 4 in Table 6 and
models 11, 12 and 13 in Table 7 respectively. The results are basically the same with slight different in
the coefficients significant. Nevertheless there is negative impact of GOWN on risk disclosure
however this relation is insignificant. Also the results show the FOWN and CC has more impact in IBs
rather than CBs and DBs. Finally, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Third, we test the robustness of our results by re regressing equation (1) and equation (2) using
weighted RDI as alternative risk disclosure index. The results reported in Table 7 are mostly the same
with those results reported in Table 6 with slight different in the coefficients significant, therefore
these findings indicates that our results are robust whether RDI is un weighted or weighted. Finally,
and to test potential endogeneity problems which have been debated to be a common problem in CG
studies (Elshandidy Neri, 2015; Larcker Rusticus, 2010; Mollaha Zamanb, 2015; Ntim et al., 2013;
Ntim Soobaroyen, 2013), we uses 3SLS because it is more efficient than 2SLS (Belsley, 1988; Larcker

steps: estimates MLG instrumental values in first step, estimates the covariance matrix for MLG
instrumental values based on the residuals in second step and finally, performs GLS regression based
on covariance matrix (Dennis Taisier, 2014; Mollaha Zamanb, 2015). Therefore, the model to be
estimated is specified as: (2) Where everything remains unaffected as identified in equation (1) except

Playing Board Game Research Paper
My passion is playing board games and games of strategy. Sometimes, I am trying to conquer the
world and play against everyone. Other times I am trying to save the world with everyone else in a
cooperative game. Playing board games started with my family, and I have played ever since. I was in
the chess club in elementary school. That started my love for strategies and thinking ahead. I was
challenged, and even stayed after school for it; I am thankful that I was a part of the club. Also, I
would bring in games to play on fun Fridays in elementary school. I loved everything, from Hungry
Hungry Hippos to Racko.

and multiple ways to see everything play out. A systems engineer needs to know how all the different
parts work together and individually. These games run simulations of real world events, and users can
strategize in them as I would do in reality.
Every day I plan and strategize my day just like in board games. I use the skills that are used in the
games in daily tasks and short and long term goals. I do not use the skills learned in Risk to conquer
the world, but I do use those skills to plan ahead and know what my best moves and actions are. (The
game also teaches that some battles are better not fought!) In games, I am sometimes faced with
building up my army, or attacking others. In real life, I have to know when to build up my knowledge

In another game, Forbidden Desert, I am sometimes a water carrier. I am the only one that can give
my team essential water. Throughout the game I try to give other people water, as that is my job, but I
also try to be an individual and contribute to the work for the common goal. In my Emerging Leaders

Sonnet 116 Love Essay
Love is a central theme in William Shakespeare s sonnets, yet the means by which love is expressed
and the form in which it takes differs across various sonnets. In sonnet 116, Shakespeare lavishes the
reader with beautiful imagery of love in its most idyllic form. On the other hand, in sonnet 130, he
adopts a more realistic approach to love as it is experienced by everyday people. In both cases, the
poet is able to artfully convey the theme of love in its various forms such that the reader is able to
easily recognize and identify with it.
Sonnet 116 depicts love in its ideal form. The poet discusses how marriage brings together true minds
(1). By emphasizing the importance of the mind, he is minimizing the physical attraction commonly ...

There is no use of grandiose metaphor or allusion; he does not compare his love to Venus, there is no
evocation to Morpheus, etc. In fact, it is the polar opposite as he states, I grant I never saw another
goddess go , essentially making clear that his love is no form of beautiful divinity. The ordinary
beauty and humanity of his lover are important to Shakespeare in this sonnet, and he deliberately uses
typical love poetry metaphors against themselves. Another example of this reversal is when he says
how I have seen roses damasked, red and white, but no such roses see I in her cheeks to emphasize
that she does not fit the mold of classic romanticized imagery. The references to love affiliated objects
of perfection are indeed present, but they are there to illustrate that his lover is not as beautiful a total
rejection of Petrarch form and content. Shakespeare utilizes a new structure, through which the
straightforward theme of his lover s simplicity can be developed in the three quatrains and neatly
concluded in the final couplet. He uses this counter intuitive method of describing his lover to call out
the cliché of typical grandiose love lyrics and to further develop the claim that the love he has for this
woman is unique. Rather than being seduced with perfect femininity, he is deeply in love with
someone who does not emulate these qualities.
In Sonnet 116, I admire how Shakespeare addresses

Explain Why Did Tsar Nicholas II Face Problems From 1906...
Why did Tsar Nicholas II continue to face problems from 1906 to 1914?
After the 1905 Revolution, the Tsar got a little taste of what was to come if he did not change the way
the country functioned. However too little was done too late and after war was declared and Stolypin s
assassination it was almost certain that there would be no more tsarist regime.
Nicholas II promised in the October Manifesto that a duma may be set up, so he can get some liberal
support. This was the first time the Tsar has tried at a democratic government. However what
displeased the people is what the Tsar had done in April 1906. He passed on the Fundamental Laws
which basically allowed him to overrule any decision of the Duma and that he would keep most of his
autocratic power. It seemed that nothing has changed after the 1905 Revolution. The first ... Show

Many historians believe that if there was no World War I, Stolypin would be able to save Russia by
resolving the peasant s discontent. As the peasants had no land of their own and the Mir was creating
major problems, the peasants were quite angry. Also they made up most of the population, which
showed that they must be taken seriously or they could do major damage to the country. Stolypin gave
the peasants the power to choose to leave the Mirs and join Kulaks freely. Because of this there were
some successes; record harvests in 1913 and production was increasing however it depended on the
region. The problem was that Stolypin was assassinated and nobody was there to continue his reforms.
However there were many peasants that were left without anything and they were forced to go to
towns and look for work. This new class of peasants were dangerous as they were easy targets for
radicalism. Also most of the land still was owned by the high class and not a lot has changed. The
peasants in Russia were not pleased as

Narrative by Judith Ortiz Cofer Essay
The narrative written by Judith Ortiz Cofer discusses some of the many experiences she has
encountered throughout her life dealing with stereotypes and common misconceptions of Latin
American women. To further engage her audience in the story, she provides detailed past experiences
that have stood out to her the most. In order for the readers to fully understand those past encounters,
some of which are cultural and common among Latinos, Cofer explains them in careful detail. For
example, Cofer explains the concept of piropos which are poems composed on the spot by men to
women as a form of admiration. This helps her introduce the audience to her own experiences with
piropos and how she has dealt with them throughout her life. One of the ... Show more content on

She knew how to dress for specific occasions such as a Sunday mass or a party, but this was a
challenge. This shows the audience that Latin girls dress the way they do because of their cultural
background and something that is considered acceptable in Latin America can differ from what is
acceptable in North America. Cofer goes on to discuss how the way Latin women dress can be
misinterpreted as a come on to men when in fact, that usually isn t the case because dressing that way
is normal and even encouraged by Latin mothers. The point Cofer was trying to display in her
narrative was that the outward appearance of Latin women should not be mistaken with who they are
but rather be considered as part of their culture. This narrative describes a cultural clash between
America s mainstream views and opinions and Latin women who have to struggle with these
stereotypes from a young age. Career Day is one of the examples in which Cofer experienced falling
under one of those stereotypes and feeling like an outcast when the nuns at her school displayed the
Latin girls as the negative models of Career Day. Cofer s strong opinions against these stereotypes is
made clear throughout the story as she explains random instances she remembers of how others view
Latin girls and how the media often objectifies women comparing them to Hot Tamales and other

Analysis Of The Book Affluenza How Overconsumption Is...
Today, Americans live in a world where we are constantly encouraged to keep up with the Joneses
whether it be from advertisment, longer shopping hours, or multiple other factors. A surprising statistic
you can find in the book, Affluenza: How overconsumption is killing us and how to fight back, where
it states that 70 percent of us visit malls each week, more than attended houses of worship (15).
Shopping has become so convenient in recent years due to online stores, as well as the growing
number of shopping centers, that it s become a problem. Kalle Lasn, co founder of the magazine
Adbusters and starter of the Occupy Movement, believes that, Overconsumption is the mother of all of
our environment problems (197). Consumers have come to see shopping as a fun activity while
spending time with friends or family. When really over consumption of material goods ultimately
leads us to unhappiness, the unsatisfied desire to want more, and possibly put you into debt. The
amount of malls and stores we have in America has without a doubt contributed in our over
consumption of material goods. Our society has come to the point where shopping and consumer
goods are more important than higher education. For example, we spend more on shoes, jewelry, and
watches than on higher education. . . . In 1986, America still had more high schools than shopping
centers. Less than twenty years later, in 2005, we had more than twice as many shopping centers
(46,438) as high schools

Moral Topography
In this respect, we can think of our values as providing us with the background of our world, insofar as
this is morally connoted. In other words, our values are the framework that allows us to organize and
see our world in terms of ethical issues and assessments that is, along ethical lines. Subsequently, I
argue we understand our ideals as embodiments of our values, which are located in our moral space
insofar as they are ethical assessments concerning the best sort of life in relationship to different
pretenses3. In this sense, we find our ideals halfway through our values and ourselves. Insofar as our
ideals are representations of some modes of human excellence, each of them embodies something we
value for instance, the ideal of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this respect, Taylor writes that [...] a doctrine that tells us where our strength lies is what I want to
call a doctrine of moral sources, or a moral topography [...] 4. In other words, Taylor claims that to
study how a self relates to its moral space s framework, is to do something analogous to leading a
topographic study of a terrain. This topography is one which produces a moral map , where the self is
located according to its connections to its environment the elements of our moral space being the
mountains, rivers and the other geographical features represented. In the present terms, our values are
our moral sources in that they provide us with the origin of the ethical strength needed to give a moral
shape to our world in particular, they work as inspirations and goals to achieve as we relate to them
through our ideals. Furthermore, and to keep up with the spatial metaphor, values are what make us
able to interpret correctly the map resulting from one s self moral topography. Just like we need the
idea of North to be able to say that one mountain on a map is to the north with respect to something
else, so we would need the concept of, say, heroism, to say that on an ancient Greek warrior s moral
map Achilles stands as an ideal of heroism and to say in what way this warrior s degree of heroism

Essay On Wound Drainage
The orthopedic literature has a long history of investigating the use of postoperative wound drains
(Cobb, 1990). In total joint arthroplasty, wound drains were associated with increased rates of
transfusion (Hallstrom and Steele, 1992; Quinn et al., 2015) but not a decrease in the rate of wound
complications. A systematic review of the orthopedic literature comparing closed suction drainage
systems with no drainage system for all types of elective and emergency orthopedic surgery found that
there is insufficient evidence from randomized trials to support the routine use of wound drains in
orthopedic surgery (Parker et al., 2007). Similarly, a meta analysis of randomized controlled trials of

They found that the group without drains developed epidural fluid collection by MRI detection at a
much higher rate of 89% compared to the drain group at 36% (Mirzai et al., 2006). Their data
suggested that drains could help clear excess fluid from the surgical site and adjacent spaces.
However, they did not observe a difference in clinical outcomes between groups. A meta analysis of
seven studies of postoperative suction drain use after posterior spine surgery included 2,098 patients
and found that drains did not influence healing rates and or infection (Andrew Glennie et al., 2015).
The relationship between surgical drains and hematoma prevention could not be established. Similarly,
another recent meta analysis failed to demonstrate an association between surgical site drains and
decreased odds of hematoma and infection (Waly et al., 2015). While the benefit of surgical site drains
in the lumbar spine remains to be demonstrated, the benefit of surgical site drains in the cervical spine
remains an unanswered question.
The study of surgical site drains in the posterior cervical spine is limited. Payhs et al. suggested
surgical site drains in the posterior cervical spine in combination with alcohol foam or vancomycin
powder are associated with reduced odds of surgical site infection among patients undergoing any
posterior cervical spine surgery (Pahys et al., 2013). Our data regarding

Similarities Between Rap And Country Music
Music is a huge influence on many people. Rap and country music are two very popular genres of
music. There are many common stereotypes that people associate with them. Both types of music are
often disliked by people for various reasons. Rap music is often seen as gang related and full of
violence. People think it is a negative influence. Country music is often seen as redneck or hillbilly
music. Many people don t like country music because they say it is not their type. Country is seen as
much more positive. Rap and country music are two totally different styles of music and have many
differences. They have a very different audience, singers, styles of music, and music videos they use
for their songs. One big difference between rap and country music is the audience. Usually when a rap
concert begins, the audience arrives minutes before it starts. There is no party before or get together.
Rap music appeals to a younger audience. Rap is popular among many teenagers and young adults.
There usually aren t many older people that listen to rap music or would attend a rap concert. Rap
usually attracts an audience made up of many races. The audience consists of whites, African
Americans, Hispanics, and many other races. It is not targeted to one race over the others. Country
concerts are known for having tailgate parties hours before the concert begins. People get together and
will barbeque, listen to music, eat, and drink. They have a good time before the concerts starts

Sufficiency Is A Controversial Topic Among Philosophy
Sufficiency is a controversial topic among philosophy. This essay will discuss Adam Smith s opinion
on this topic in How Adam Smith Can Change Your Life written by Russ Roberts. From Smith s point
of view, justice, prudence, and beneficence are sufficient for a good life. His outlook is questionable
because it is self limiting and the details of a good life varies from person to person. Being a loveable
person and being loved due to it will increase the quality of one s life, but being a good person alone
cannot guarantee a good life.
Smith believes that the virtues of prudence, justice, and beneficence are sufficient for a good life.

Smith uses the idea of an impartial spectator to explain the difference between was in socially just and
unjust. First, he believes that the only acceptable excuse for acting unjustly is as an act of revenge
towards someone who had initially acted unjust towards you. In contrast, to hurt someone for the sake
of your own benefit is unacceptable. Naturally, humans care more about themselves than they do
others. Although this may be true, Smith feels that from the impartial spectator s perspective, to act on
these selfish feelings is recognizably immoral.
Lastly, Smith introduces his most vague virtue needed to attain sufficiency: beneficence. Beneficence
is defined as the act of doing good things. To better understand what it means to act with beneficence,
Smith examines two subjects that make up beneficence gratitude and charity. Unlike prudence and
justice, he recognizes that both gratitude and charity come with many exceptions and modifications.
Nonetheless, he still believes that they make it attainable to practice beneficence. He compares
identifying beneficence with identifying good writing, we know it when we see it, but it not easily
taught or described with any precision (160). In response to this, Roberts states that the inexactitude of
the standards of beneficence is what makes doing good things so intimidating. According to Smith,

Why Has The World Changed At The End Of The Twentieth Century
Outrage Causes Democracy There are many reasons why the world completely changed at the end of
the Twentieth Century. The main reasons why the world changed is because of major events and
dictators that influenced the world to change. These events included the loss of power of Philippines
dictator, Ferdinand Marcos, and dictator Jean Claude of Haiti (Kenney 1). This was a major
coincidence that showed the rest of the world how great the countries looked because of new
democratic governments that took to power and showcased joyous crowds and removal of repression
(Kenney 1). At least 20 30 countries in the 1980s rapidly changed their ways to democratic
governments. The years surrounding 1989 were the most important for Democratic Revolutions is
because the world finally opened their eyes. Many countries finally caught onto the repression they
had been facing for years and had enough. Two countries that were part of this Revolution were The
Philippines and South Africa. The Philippines was a country ruled by dictator Ferdinand Marcos from
1917 1989 (Kenney 78). Many things could have happened to prevent Marcos from continuing his
rule. These included strong guerrilla forces that were trying to ... Show more content on

the people of South Africa. For example, he said I have cherished the ideal of a democratic and free

The Revolutionary Ideas Of Galileo, Kepler, And Newton
Throughout the seventeenth century many new ideas were brought about as a direct result of the
Scientific Revolution. These ideas challenged the traditional ways of European thought. . With these
new concepts, the idea that science could explain everything, while religion could not, began to
spread. The revolutionary thinkers of that time altered traditional interpretations of nature and
challenged the established sources of knowledge. Among these intellectuals were Galileo, Kepler and
Newton. When combined, their ideas provided enough evidence to develop certain theories and
conclusions about the universe. Galileo was a philosopher and mathematician. Galileo used the
telescope to study astronomy. He experimented many ideas to support the heliocentric model of the
universe as set by Copernicus, and to introduce facts that may have been overlooked in the bible. This
goes in direct opposition of Ptolemy s geocentric model which was supported by the Church because

Starting in the year 1600, he formulated the laws of planetary motion. In other words, he was the first
to realize that the motion of all planets is ruled by the same laws. Kepler then went on to creating 3
laws based on his findings. The first law states that each planet moves around the sun in an ellipse,
with the sun at one focus. According to the second law, planets do not revolve around the sun at a
uniform speed, but they are faster when closer to the sun, and slower when further from it. Kepler s
Third Law states the relationship between the period of motion for a planet and the semi major axis of
the planet s elliptical orbit. The relationship is that the square of the period is proportional to the cube
of the semi major axis. Kepler s interpretations were uncommon because he used mathematics in his
determinations of the laws and didn t just believe in God about what happened in the

It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon in Philadelphia. The air was fresh and the fog was rolling off of
the dark green oak trees. These trees were scattered everywhere like grains of sand on a hot summer
beach. The soft and lingering scent from the various kinds of flowers filled the air. This added a sense
of happiness to everyone who was celebrating my uncle s wedding, especially my sisters and I. Before
the wedding, people were gathered in large groups, everywhere, bickering with one another. Over 450

It was like she was walking on clouds. Walking with grace in every foot step, she came out from

It was her day to celebrate. All eyes were on her. As I took a glance at the groom I knew this was a

Natural disasters, such as earthquakes, hurricanes and cyclones, floods, and tornadoes are some of the
traumatic experiences that may cause posttraumatic stress disorders. This type of disorders and other
disaster related psychological problems are prevalent after natural disasters. As a result it is important
to analyse those individuals that develop psychological problems especially to prepare and plan
interventions both in the short and long term after disaster (Coşkun, Coşkun, 2000, p: 68).

Informative Essay On Ufos
Reports of an alien UFO being intercepted by jet fighters have circulated the Internet. Residents of an
otherwise quiet English town were awoken to blasting jet engines earlier this month. Jet fighters from
a nearby military base scrambled toward the English coast to intercept what was said to be a UFO.
The UFO was reported by fisherman to have risen from the water. The flight tracking of the jets
showed that they were circling something. But the government reported that it was not a UFO, but an
Air France flight. New footage on YouTube taken by fisherman tell a different story. UFO Dives Into
Sea A recent YouTube video shows footage from a fishing boat capturing jets and a helicopter circling
a UFO. The YouTube channel Christopher Stokes published the footage on May 25. It shows jets and
a helicopter attempting to make contact with a UFO before it dives into the sea. The fishermen are of
course hysterical as the booming engines of the jets buzz by before the UFO simply disappears into
the water. A helicopter than does a flyby, and the footage ends. Could this be real footage? If so, how
did they get it off the boat? Have those fishermen been assassinated? A Hoax or Possibly Real? The
footage of the jets, helicopter, and UFO is definitely suspicious. It is fuzzy, pixelated, and the UFO isn

According to the Humane Society of the United States, there is a growing problem with people in the
United States not properly using animal welfare. Animal rights activists believe that animals were not

welfare is better for all animals and for human benefit while using the animals. The American
Veterinary Medical Association says that, Animal welfare refers to the state of the animal; the
treatment that an animal receives is covered by other terms such as animal care, animal husbandry,
and humane treatment. Protecting an animal s welfare means providing for its physical and mental

Main Themes In Sylvia Plath s The Bell Jar
Sylvia Plath is a writer renowned for her intense and personal poems. But she is also known for her
semi autobiographical novel, The Bell Jar, a work very lightly veiled as fiction. In the coming of age
book The Bell Jar , Plath takes us into the mind of the 19 year old narrator, Esther Greenwood, and her
descending into the grip of mental illness. Set in the 1950s, Esther is a bright and aspiring writer
working as an intern for a busy magazine in New York along with fellow college students. Her
promiscuous friend Doreen sets her up on an ill fated date: but things start to go downhill. On the date,
a violent man nearly rapes her. Not only that, but she also goes home to Boston to find out that her

First, the novel opens with Esther reading a newspaper article of a morbid execution. The dreadfulness
of the execution and the grim thoughts of cadavers weigh on her. Additionally, she tells the reader how
she isn t feeling like she is having the time of her life, despite the envy that comes from the hustle and
bustle of living in New York City. I felt very still and very empty, the way the eye of a tornado must
feel, moving dully along the middle of the surrounding hullabaloo . Definitely, throughout the novel,
she is preoccupied with death and feels alienated: signs of her depression. Speaking of alienation,
Esther is indeed an unconventional woman for her time. It must be noted that The Bell Jar takes place
in the 1950s, a period where the feminine, domestic, dutiful, good wife is the archetype that women
are expected to follow. Needless to say, Esther is rather interested in pursuing her ambition as a writer.
However, we can see that she is still wavering should she follow the constrictive women s roles of the
50s, or pursue her literary passion? This brings us to the fig tree. The fig tree is a metaphor used in the
novel that represents all the things Esther could be a mother, a famous poet, a lover, and so forth.
However, she could not pick one fig because she is uncertain about her

Freshwater sources are open to vulnerabilities, such as pollution from the environment and the

assume that contaminants and bacteria could enter the water source. As mentioned in the results
section, the Koi Pond was the only water sample that exhibited E. coli; the hypothesis was supported
by the lab results. The Koi Pond water sample looked identically to the other types of water samples;
however, it would be wrong to assume that just because the samples had similar appearance, they were
also similar in quality. For instance, the Deer Park water sample was also clear, but it had no presence
of E. coli. Furthermore, the aquarium water sample

Negative Impact On Social Media
Social Media today seems like it is always compared to a drug, a lot of people are addicted to it.
Considering where technology is right now we aren t addicted to Social Media, it just turns out to be
our daily essential for information that we crave for. Technology has unlocked faster communication
and the ability to spread information quickly. Which allows us to connect with the world and discover
other people s perspectives, creating a more diverse view and opinion of topics and information. In
addition, not all information is truthful, especially the widespread of fabricated news, but with
technology and social media a lot of people can fact check information instead of getting news from
mainstream media outlets that alter news to acquire more revenue. And if Social Media is so bad, why
does everyone still use it everyday? With all that said, I think that social media impacts people,
especially Millennials more positive than negative considering that it is a powerful tool that almost
everyone can use. A plethora of information with diverse perspectives at your fingertips and accessing
it in an instant. I believe that smartphones and computers is a growing standard among Millennials
now for daily living, people can find out about news and information all around the world in an instant
at the comfort of their home. In the article How the Internet is Loosening Our Grip on the Truth , the

Swot Analysis of Project Management
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
WHAT IS PROJECT MANAGEMENT:
The word project comes from the Latin word projectum from the Latin verb proicere, to throw
something forwards which in turn comes from pro , which denotes something that precedes the action
of the next part of the word in time (paralleling the Greek πρό) and iacere, to throw . The word project
thus actually originally meant something that comes before anything else happens .
When the English language initially adopted the word, it referred to a plan of something, not to the act
of actually carrying this plan out. Something performed in accordance with a project became known
as an object .

The premise of PMI is that the tools and techniques of project management are common even among
the widespread application of projects from the software industry to the construction industry. In 1981,
the PMI Board of Directors authorized the development of what has become A Guide to the Project
Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK Guide), containing the standards and guidelines of
practice that are widely used throughout the profession.
The International Project Management Association (IPMA), founded in Europe in 1967, has
undergone a similar development and instituted the IPMA Competence Baseline (ICB). The focus of
the ICB also begins with knowledge as a foundation, and adds considerations about relevant
experience, interpersonal skills, and competence. Both organizations are now participating in the
development of an ISO project management standard.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT APPROACHES:
There are several approaches that can be taken to managing project activities including agile,
interactive, incremental, and phased approaches.
Regardless of the approach employed, careful consideration needs to be given to clarify surrounding
project objectives, goals, and importantly, the roles and responsibilities of all participants and
stakeholders.
A traditional phased approach identifies a sequence of steps to be completed. In the traditional
approach , we can distinguish 5 components of a project (4 stages plus

Max Weber s Theory Of Bureaucracy Essay
The word bureaucracy derived from bureau and cracy . The word bureau means office or desk and
cracy means power or rule. Thus bureaucracy means desk government.
Bureaucracy is ahierarchical organization which follows strict rules and regulations in achieving
desired goals and which has tendency to gain supremacy over other organizations. Famous German
sociologist theorized ideal type of bureaucracy. Max Weber thought bureaucracy is the highest
efficient organization which falls under legal rational authority. Soon after the theory came out, like
other theory, ideal type bureaucracy theory encountered severe criticisms.Alvin Gouldner, Robert
Merton, Phillip Selznick, Peter Blau are some of them who criticized the ideal type of bureaucracy.
With the creation of new states and the intervention of government in everyday life of citizens
necessitated the need for ideal type of bureaucracy. Everywhere whether in developed or developing
nations, bureaucratic structure is a common phenomenon.
The environment and the state of affairs in which Max Weber developed the theory of bureaucracy
were different from the present welfare states. Modern states are complex and difficult to maintain
thus the validity of bureaucracy is questioned in the face of these challenges.
The Development of a country to a large extent depends on how the bureaucracy of that country
functions. As bureaucracy gives input in policy making, implements those and evaluate outcome of an
implemented policy,

  • 2. Loie Fuller s Dance Critique Critique 1 On Friday, September 11th at 7:00 PM, I attended Dancestry by the Shay Ishii Dance Company. This performance was held by Texas State University s Department of Theatre and Dance. The vision for the performance was to take modern dance pioneers and highlighting their work and contributions. The first segment of the night was highlighting Loie Fuller. Fuller was a choreographer and dancer of a unique and beautiful style of dance, using dazzling and flowing silk dresses. Her breakthrough in what became known as Serpentine Dance . In Friday s performance, it was evident that the beauty of the dance wasn t because of the flowing dresses, but the lighting used to create beautiful images. When the performance started, I was very confused. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Her tribute consisted of three movements from Chopin Suite. All of them involved three young women. The unique thing about these dances that separated them from the others showcased was that I was actually able to follow them. They were more story like than the rest. Duncan s dance style was similar to Fuller in that she utilized flowing scarves and dresses to enhance the dances. This part of the show was my favorite, I love dances that tell a clear cut story, and Isadora Duncan s style of dance allowed for that to happen. The last segment of the night was highlighting the work of Erick Hawkins. Hawkins vision consisted of unique dancing, costuming, and overall style of performance. He utilized traditions from New Zealand tribes in his work. I personally was not a fan of the Hawkins performances. There was a lot of nonsensical movements, and there was just too much going on the stage. Although there was only the one stage, there were at times so many separate movements going on at once, it seemed that there were 3 or 4 separate stages. I can see the appeal that some audience members could have had in viewing this dance style, though. The music was very interesting, and the costumes even more so. I was reminded at times of the Lion King. There were leaping antelope, huge porcupines, and several fish all dancing on the stage. Although I wasn t very interested in Hawkin s dance style, ... Although there are many pros and few cons of cursive writing I still feel as though that cursive writing is esssential to whatever your higher educational needs may be. I also feel that it is unessecary to succeed your educational goals whatever they may be. In this breifly detailed essay I will be expalining why I feel as the above reflects. One of the reasons I feel as thought cursive writing does not need to be academic need to this modern day and age is because technology does all the writng for us. • 4. Green Walls Documentary Summary What is the purpose of the documentary? The purpose of the documentary was about implementing green walls and to show people how integrating nature within our infrastructure will improve the quality of life for humans, nature and our planet. This film was also created to change our perspective of how we think about reintegrating nature in dense and fully developed communities so that it not only fits into the functionality of our infrastructure but it also can restore our plants and wildlife. What is the main message the director wants to get across to the audience? The directors message was that this is a movement that we all can afford to get behind. It will have nothing but positive influences on our health, infrastructure and our plant and wild life. There was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I also have some knowledge about rooftop gardens prior to this course and I learned more from earlier from other documentaries from the previous weeks. What did you expect to see? I expected to see the film focus more on rooftop gardens or community gardens. I did not expect to see the whole country so involved in creating green walls and rooftop gardens all over. I also did not expect to see how much thought went into planning their parks to make sure that they somehow connect that way wildlife has the ability to move around without obstruction. What questions did you have in mind about the subject? My only question and concern that I had throughout the whole film was about how do they control pest? I know that in San Diego County that anyone who has plants growing on their house or near the roof, they most likely will have rodent issues. My question is, how can we create green walls or roof gardens in our communities without having to fight of pest or have to use chemicals to drive them ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Pros And Cons Of The Woolly Mammoth Biology Issues Investigations: Should we bring back the woolly mammoth from extinction? Or should we not tamper with the past and leave things how they are? Why do humans go to such extents to protect endangered species? The same questioning applies to species brought back from extinction; it is to preserve biodiversity, to restore deserted and destroyed ecosystems, to advance the science of preventing extinctions, and to undo harm that humans have caused in the past. Additionally, the prospect of resurrection is profound news. That something as irreversible and final as extinction might be reversed is an astonishing realization. The imagination spirals does it not? Just the thought of mammoths wandering the alive the wilderness again invokes the awe and wonder that drives all conservation at its deepest level. Woolly Mammoths were the dominant herbivore of the mammoth steppe in the far north, once the largest biomes on Earth. In their absence, the grasslands they helped sustain were replaced by species poor tundra and boreal forest. Their return to the north would bring back carbon fixing grass and reduce greenhouse gas releasing tundra, which would be an extremely helpful and positive environmental impact. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Should we be tampering with the past, trying to atone for some of the errors humanity made so long ago. Scientist believes that even if a species is physically extinct, there is still a biological existence lurking in fossils and other materialised objects belong to species. • 7. The Qin Dynasty And The Chinese Empire Essay Before the Qin Dynasty, China was composed of a network of city states that were loyal to the Chinese king. The seven Warring States had their own institutions that were run by aristocrats. The Qin Dynasty took initiative to expand their territory and to unite the Chinese empire together. Through their ruthless military techniques the Qin Dynasty was able to conquer the city states in China. The Qin Dynasty ruled from 221 BCE 206 BCE; during their regime, Emperor Qin s primary goal was to unify the Chinese people. Even though the Qin Dynasty was a short lived empire, it played a major role in unifying the Chinese empire and provided a foundation for succeeding regimes through a centralized government, standardized systems, and through infrastructure. Even though the Qin Dynasty deprived the civilization of education, it created a strong bureaucratic system that limited feudal power and developed a cooperative population. Each Warring state followed a different political system, before it was conquered by Qin. The First Emperor, Qin Shi Huang, felt it was necessary to legitimize his power to unify the city states and for a cooperative population. In the Qin Dynasty, the institution of emperor had a special meaning in China as the repository of imperial legitimacy (Feng 2013, 249). In other words, the first emperor was given the title of being a mythical ruler that had godly powers and is the righteous leader of the empire based on the Mandate of Heaven ... • 8. Characterization, Symbolism, and Irony in The Scarlet Letter The Scarlet Letter, written by Nathaniel Hawthorne, is a novel about a young woman who commits adultery and is forced to wear the letter A, which symbolizes adultery, on her chest. In this novel, Hawthorne includes many symbols to display hidden meanings, including character symbols to wake up the reader. Irony is an important element as well, used to reveal the hypocrisy of humankind. The Scarlet Letter is a unique blend of characters, irony and symbolism. Hester Prynne is first described in the scaffold scene as, tall, with a figure of perfect elegance on a large scale. She had dark and abundant hair, so glossy that it threw off the sunshine with a gleam, and a face which, besides being beautiful from regularity of feature and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Arthur Dimmesdale is a character of depression and darkness. He is young, pale has large, melancholy eyes and a tremulous mouth, suggesting great sensitivity (Cliffsnotes). He is a well known, well educated, Puritan minister, and has a high reputation. There is no doubt that he is devoted to God, passionate in his religion, and effective in the pulpit (Cliffsnotes). In the beginning of the novel, Dimmesdale is pictured as a good, quiet man, and the townspeople admire him. He becomes very ill, and the doctor, Roger Chillingworth, cannot determine what is causing his sickness for quite a while. Finally, the novel exposes that Dimmesdale is sick because of his horrible guilt. It would seem that he would never commit any significant sin, yet the novel reveals that Dimmesdale is Hester Prynne s lover. Dimmesdale, Hester, and Pearl all meet one day in the forest, and they plan to take a ship to England, where Hester was born. When they were about to board the ship, Chillingworth was spotted standing on it. Dimmesdale sees him and decides that he cannot take it anymore. His guilt was, literally, killing him. He presents himself on the scaffold and announces to the town that he was Hester s lover. However, the crowd does not believe him and thinks that the devil was forcing him to become crazy. Dimmesdale s guilt finally gets the best of him, and he dies on the scaffold. Roger Chillingworth is a man deficient in human warmth (SparkNotes). He ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Other times I am trying to save the world with everyone else in a cooperative game. Playing board games started with my family, and I have played ever since. I was in the chess club in elementary school. That started my love for strategies and thinking ahead. I was challenged, and even stayed after school for it; I am thankful that I was a part of the club. Also, I would bring in games to play on fun Fridays in elementary school. In sonnet 116, Shakespeare lavishes the reader with beautiful imagery of love in its most idyllic form. On the other hand, in sonnet 130, he adopts a more realistic approach to love as it is experienced by everyday people. In both cases, the poet is able to artfully convey the theme of love in its various forms such that the reader is able to easily recognize and identify with it. Sonnet 116 depicts love in its ideal form. The poet discusses how marriage brings together true minds (1). There is no use of grandiose metaphor or allusion; he does not compare his love to Venus, there is no evocation to Morpheus, etc. In fact, it is the polar opposite as he states, I grant I never saw another goddess go , essentially making clear that his love is no form of beautiful divinity. The ordinary beauty and humanity of his lover are important to Shakespeare in this sonnet, and he deliberately uses typical love poetry metaphors against themselves. Another example of this reversal is when he says how I have seen roses damasked, red and white, but no such roses see I in her cheeks to emphasize that she does not fit the mold of classic romanticized imagery. The references to love affiliated objects of perfection are indeed present, but they are there to illustrate that his lover is not as beautiful a total rejection of Petrarch form and content. Shakespeare utilizes a new structure, through which the straightforward theme of his lover s simplicity can be developed in the three quatrains and neatly concluded in the final couplet. He uses this counter intuitive method of describing his lover to call out the cliché of typical grandiose love lyrics and to further develop the claim that the love he has for this woman is unique. Rather than being seduced with perfect femininity, he is deeply in love with someone who does not emulate these qualities. In Sonnet 116, I admire how Shakespeare addresses ... After the 1905 Revolution, the Tsar got a little taste of what was to come if he did not change the way the country functioned. However too little was done too late and after war was declared and Stolypin s assassination it was almost certain that there would be no more tsarist regime. Nicholas II promised in the October Manifesto that a duma may be set up, so he can get some liberal support. This was the first time the Tsar has tried at a democratic government. However what displeased the people is what the Tsar had done in April 1906. He passed on the Fundamental Laws which basically allowed him to overrule any decision of the Duma and that he would keep most of his autocratic power. As the peasants had no land of their own and the Mir was creating major problems, the peasants were quite angry. Also they made up most of the population, which showed that they must be taken seriously or they could do major damage to the country. Stolypin gave the peasants the power to choose to leave the Mirs and join Kulaks freely. Because of this there were some successes; record harvests in 1913 and production was increasing however it depended on the region. The problem was that Stolypin was assassinated and nobody was there to continue his reforms. However there were many peasants that were left without anything and they were forced to go to towns and look for work. Narrative by Judith Ortiz Cofer Essay The narrative written by Judith Ortiz Cofer discusses some of the many experiences she has encountered throughout her life dealing with stereotypes and common misconceptions of Latin American women. To further engage her audience in the story, she provides detailed past experiences that have stood out to her the most. In order for the readers to fully understand those past encounters, some of which are cultural and common among Latinos, Cofer explains them in careful detail. Cofer goes on to discuss how the way Latin women dress can be misinterpreted as a come on to men when in fact, that usually isn t the case because dressing that way is normal and even encouraged by Latin mothers. The point Cofer was trying to display in her narrative was that the outward appearance of Latin women should not be mistaken with who they are but rather be considered as part of their culture. This narrative describes a cultural clash between America s mainstream views and opinions and Latin women who have to struggle with these stereotypes from a young age. Career Day is one of the examples in which Cofer experienced falling under one of those stereotypes and feeling like an outcast when the nuns at her school displayed the Latin girls as the negative models of Career Day. Today, Americans live in a world where we are constantly encouraged to keep up with the Joneses whether it be from advertisment, longer shopping hours, or multiple other factors. A surprising statistic you can find in the book, Affluenza: How overconsumption is killing us and how to fight back, where it states that 70 percent of us visit malls each week, more than attended houses of worship (15). Shopping has become so convenient in recent years due to online stores, as well as the growing number of shopping centers, that it s become a problem. Kalle Lasn, co founder of the magazine Adbusters and starter of the Occupy Movement, believes that, Overconsumption is the mother of all of our environment problems (197). Consumers have come to see shopping as a fun activity while spending time with friends or family. When really over consumption of material goods ultimately leads us to unhappiness, the unsatisfied desire to want more, and possibly put you into debt. The amount of malls and stores we have in America has without a doubt contributed in our over consumption of material goods. Our society has come to the point where shopping and consumer goods are more important than higher education. For example, we spend more on shoes, jewelry, and watches than on higher education. . . . A systematic review of the orthopedic literature comparing closed suction drainage systems with no drainage system for all types of elective and emergency orthopedic surgery found that there is insufficient evidence from randomized trials to support the routine use of wound drains in orthopedic surgery (Parker et al., 2007). A meta analysis of seven studies of postoperative suction drain use after posterior spine surgery included 2,098 patients and found that drains did not influence healing rates and or infection (Andrew Glennie et al., 2015). This essay will discuss Adam Smith s opinion on this topic in How Adam Smith Can Change Your Life written by Russ Roberts. From Smith s point of view, justice, prudence, and beneficence are sufficient for a good life. His outlook is questionable because it is self limiting and the details of a good life varies from person to person. Being a loveable person and being loved due to it will increase the quality of one s life, but being a good person alone cannot guarantee a good life. Smith believes that the virtues of prudence, justice, and beneficence are sufficient for a good life. Smith uses the idea of an impartial spectator to explain the difference between was in socially just and unjust. First, he believes that the only acceptable excuse for acting unjustly is as an act of revenge towards someone who had initially acted unjust towards you. In contrast, to hurt someone for the sake of your own benefit is unacceptable. Naturally, humans care more about themselves than they do others. Although this may be true, Smith feels that from the impartial spectator s perspective, to act on these selfish feelings is recognizably immoral. Lastly, Smith introduces his most vague virtue needed to attain sufficiency: beneficence. Beneficence is defined as the act of doing good things. To better understand what it means to act with beneficence, Smith examines two subjects that make up beneficence gratitude and charity. Unlike prudence and justice, he recognizes that both gratitude and charity come with many exceptions and modifications. Nonetheless, he still believes that they make it attainable to practice beneficence. He compares identifying beneficence with identifying good writing, we know it when we see it, but it not easily taught or described with any precision (160). In response to this, Roberts states that the inexactitude of the standards of beneficence is what makes doing good things so intimidating. According to Smith, taking care of yourself, not ... The main reasons why the world changed is because of major events and dictators that influenced the world to change. • 29. Main Themes In Sylvia Plath s The Bell Jar Sylvia Plath is a writer renowned for her intense and personal poems. But she is also known for her semi autobiographical novel, The Bell Jar, a work very lightly veiled as fiction. In the coming of age book The Bell Jar , Plath takes us into the mind of the 19 year old narrator, Esther Greenwood, and her descending into the grip of mental illness. Set in the 1950s, Esther is a bright and aspiring writer working as an intern for a busy magazine in New York along with fellow college students. Her promiscuous friend Doreen sets her up on an ill fated date: but things start to go downhill. On the date, a violent man nearly rapes her. Not only that, but she also goes home to Boston to find out that her application to a writing class she was keen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First, the novel opens with Esther reading a newspaper article of a morbid execution. The dreadfulness of the execution and the grim thoughts of cadavers weigh on her. Additionally, she tells the reader how she isn t feeling like she is having the time of her life, despite the envy that comes from the hustle and bustle of living in New York City. I felt very still and very empty, the way the eye of a tornado must feel, moving dully along the middle of the surrounding hullabaloo . Definitely, throughout the novel, she is preoccupied with death and feels alienated: signs of her depression. Speaking of alienation, Esther is indeed an unconventional woman for her time. It must be noted that The Bell Jar takes place in the 1950s, a period where the feminine, domestic, dutiful, good wife is the archetype that women are expected to follow. Needless to say, Esther is rather interested in pursuing her ambition as a writer. However, we can see that she is still wavering should she follow the constrictive women s roles of the 50s, or pursue her literary passion? This brings us to the fig tree. The fig tree is a metaphor used in the novel that represents all the things Esther could be a mother, a famous poet, a lover, and so forth. However, she could not pick one fig because she is uncertain about her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Because the Koi Pond is out in an external environment, it was reasonable to assume that contaminants and bacteria could enter the water source. As mentioned in the results section, the Koi Pond was the only water sample that exhibited E. coli; the hypothesis was supported by the lab results. The Koi Pond water sample looked identically to the other types of water samples; however, it would be wrong to assume that just because the samples had similar appearance, they were also similar in quality. For instance, the Deer Park water sample was also clear, but it had no presence of E. coli. Furthermore, the aquarium water sample ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
