The Power of Sexuality in Bel Ami
The can can, cabaret and prostitution dominated Paris in La Belle Epoque. Sex was a commerce, an
escape, and a way of life. It s prominence in Parisian culture made sexuality synonymous with power
and a tool for obtaining it. The combination of beauty and assertiveness could get you places that hard,
honest work simply could not. Both men and women took advantage of this lustful
commodity—prostitutes and mistresses were seen as status symbols, while flirtatious femme fatales
had their way with the rich and successful. But love, illustrated in Guy de Maupassant s Bel Ami, was
far from romantic. It was a well planned out ritual, full of lies, deceit and infidelity. However, the
power of sexuality in La Belle Epoque does not stray far from ... Show more content on

Maupassant informs the reader of Duroy s lack of conscience, while at the same time is careful not to
criticize his behavior. The power of sexuality and the act of using others to get what one wants is
portrayed as only natural. So, naturally, the women of Bel Ami are also culprits in this web of
selfishness. Duroy sees females as fish to catch (Maupassant 25)—but is he the fisherman or is he the
fish? The term feminism, as it is described today, did not exist n La Belle Epoque. Prostitution was not
seen as degrading—in fact, women using their sexuality to get what they wanted could be viewed as a
feminist act. In Bel Ami, Duroy uses both Rachel and Madame de Marelle, but at the same time they
are using him as well. Rachel makes a living by selling her body, so to her, he is just another paying
customer—there is no romantic involvement or emotional attatchment. If it wasn t Duroy, it would be
someone else. He is using her for sex, but she is in turn using him for money. Then there is Clotilde,
who uses her power of flirtation and sexuality not for money but to fulfill her own lustful desires. She
is married to an older man and finds her secret relationship with Duroy to be different and exciting.
Clotilde loves going out to seedy places with Duroy—places that she could never set foot in with her
husband. Duroy takes her to a small café where

Poor Electricity Supply And Lack Of Internet Connectivity
3.1. 3 Poor Electricity Supply and Lack of Internet Connectivity
Lack of constant supply of electricity has also been identified by many researchers as a major barrier
to a successful wider implementation and adoption of EHR in this region (Oluoch, et al., 2012;
Awokola, et al., 2012; Pantuvo et al., 2011). For instance, Awokola and colleagues reported that for
many months, they could not use the EHR consistently because of constant power outage. On some
occasions, the power packs in some central processing units of the table top computers got damaged
and had to be replaced. In addition, Pantuvo et al. (2011) stated that many hospitals in this region do
not have access to constant electricity supply. In fact, many hospitals depend mainly on the alternative
power supply commonly called generator for their operations. Due to the infrastructure problems
throughout the country and lack of guarantee of always on internet connection or even ensure an
uninterrupted electrical supply, nationwide adoption/ wider implementation of EHR in Nigeria may
not be possible (Chaplin et al., 2015). Furthermore, the study conducted on the use of health
information and communication technologies (HICTs) by health workers in seven state hospitals and a
private hospital in the North Eastern Zone, Ogun State, Nigeria. Reported that only one of the
hospitals examined was connected to the internet and none of them have a website (Ajiboye, Adekoya,
Alawiye, Oyedipe, 2014). Jimoh, Pate and Lin

The French Revolution was inspired by the ideas from the Enlightenment. The main goal that the
Enlightenment tried to reach was to promote scientific reasoning and end the injustice in the way
governments were performing. The French Revolution was mainly a series of upheaving s aiming to
gain social and political reforms, along with ways to govern more justly. Due to the previous era,
being the Enlightenment, French Revolutionists saw that Enlightenment participants, such as
Rousseau, Voltaire, Robspierre ,and Beccaria, along with works such as Declaration of the Rights of
Man and multiple posters, took a step towards new reforms and follow in their path and ideas. These
French Revolutionists succeeded in some ways, yet remained unsuccessful in more ways. Document 1
from Jean Jacques Rousseau concludes that a man needs to control his own freedoms. Rousseau, a
philosopher, believed in a Republic because he believed that people need to have more power and
individual freedoms must be improved. In his Social Contract, he calls for a sovereign, which will
benefit the good of an individual, but even better the overall group with intentions that aim for the
common good. A need for a change in government was wanted because a monarch rule was not
wanted. A new type of government, a provisional republic formed after King Louis Philippe was
abdicated, gave universal male suffrage and ended slavery and the death penalty. Those reforms were
some the lasted throughout the rest of

Nostalgia On Repeat By Chuck Klosterman
Chuck Klosterman, in the article Nostalgia on Repeat, there is two sides of nostalgia, how it can be
good and bad for you. Klosterman, gives examples from both sides. Memories are the past, it is ok to
remember them and think about them, maybe even smile from them, just don t live there. Looking at
the past can hinder growth, if a person cannot move on from it and wants to keep reliving that part of
their life. The Authors purpose is to shine light on both sides of nostalgia, it is not all bad to remember
the past and even flash back to it. However, trying to relive the past is not all good either. It stunts
growth and keeps a person from living their life in the now. Chuck Klosterman, writes in a casual tone

Why On Earth Violet
Why on earth, Violet?
Stewart O nan wrote the short story Why on earth, Violet in 1997. The story is about the
misconception, misinterpretation and misjudgment between children and grown up. It is about how the
adults/grown up misunderstood the children s concern and it always ends in frustration in grownups.
The grownups or her parents misunderstand her gesture.
The narrator and main character is Violet, which feels like we almost can feel what she can see from
her eyes. The text doesn t tell how old Violet is but we can clearly hear that she is just a child. For
example when she saw an old and got scared, then she suddenly hides behind her mother s legs. She is
an innocent and very honest girl. She doesn t really say a lot, but ... Show more content on

They go to the church and even the story started where they were going to church. The mother also
went to the priest to get some advice about Violet. In the sentence Why on earth, Violet? What could
have compelled you? The father indirectly tells that Violet couldn t have done this by herself, and
again a demon must have been possessed her. It clearly shows that the father is not just an ordinary
Christian.
The main story shows us the difference between children and grown ups. We can determine the major
theme of the text in a different way. The text can define in a very religious way where it we can see
how religious belief can manipulate anyone in a very bad way so easy. On the other side without these
beliefs, we can also just look at this as it like the upbringing and the relationship between the children
and adults. Which as I said before again, they can both misunderstand each other so easy and can cost
to a gigantic frustration for the

Raina Telgemeier s American Born Chinese
American Born Chinese is a graphic novel written by Gene Luen Yang. This book is about three
characters that come into each other s life in the weirdest way possible. The book was unrealistic like
it had monkey kings and shape shifters. I thought it was going to be like an autobiography but it was
not. I did not personally like the book because of all the racial stereotypes, there was a character
named Chin Kee that used the letter¨L¨ instead of R. The book was also talking about eating dogs and
I really hated that part of the book. Overall I laughed at a couple parts but the book and plot was quite
cringey. I would not read this book again. (book chat feeling option 2) (graphic novel) Smile is

Sanctuary Cities Research Paper
Most people s families have that immigrated to America generations ago. Thus, they do not
understand the difficulties of immigrating to America. In the last 2 decades. A young twelve year old
child came to America from India along with her two siblings, mother, and father in the 1980s. They
were provided safe haven in New York, a sanctuary city, until their immigration process began. A
sanctuary city like New York, does exactly what they for that family by providing protection for

Constitution. New federal laws have buckled down on immigration, however this does not affect
sanctuary cities. Sanctuary cities do not have to follow the exaggerated immigration laws, due to the
tenth amendment. The tenth amendment separates federal and state powers, meaning that the states
have jurisdiction in sanctuary cities. Referencing the Immigrant Legal Resource Center, the
Amendment prevents the federal government from coercing state or local governments to use their
resources to enforce a federal regulatory program ... Similarly to how the tenth amendment protects
sanctuary cities from federal law, it also protects them from the federal government attempting to
force sanctuary cities to provide information. For this reason, sanctuary cities keep a don t ask, don t
tell policy. In addition to the don t ask, don t tell policy, sanctuary cities are protected another way.
The Immigrant Legal Resource Center assures that, Congress cannot compel state or local
governments to collect immigration status information in order to share it with the federal
government. The don t ask, don t tell policy refers to the sanctuary cities version of not collecting data.
Without collecting data, these cities are never in violation of federal law. There is very limited record
keeping done in these cities, which works in tandem with the don t ask, don t tell policy. Therefore,
the tenth amendment of the U.S. Constitution protects sanctuary cities from the federal government in
enforcing federal law, forcing private information from the cities, and protecting the citizens of these
cities with a don t ask, don t tell

The Count Of Monte Cristo Love Essay
Charles de Gaulle once said Love is the strongest force in the world. de Gaulle s sentiment about love
s power holds true. In The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas, love is the most powerful
driving force. During this romantic novel, a man named Edmond Dantés gets falsely imprisoned for
fourteen years. When he escapes as a rich man, he swears revenge on his enemies, but in the end, love
prevents him from enacting several of his vengeful plans. A moral in The Count of Monte Cristo is
that love is the strongest power in the world because it can stop revenge in its tracks and cause great
joy.

Descriptive Essay On Car
To start off a car defines a person very well, it shows personal interests, values, and obviously how
much money they are willing to spend on transportation. Also my personal career will definitely
contain some greasy fun work preferably Diesel Technician. One of my first few memories with cars
is me just playing with toys when I was very little. By the time I was five or six my parents had given
me a miniature truck I could drive around the block and yard. Not long after that I got into bikes.
Within a couple of months I had a fleet of bikes ranging, from a bike from the nineteen forties to a
newer chopper styled bike. As soon as I turned fourteen I got a real job. Before I could afford a vehicle
I drove around and constantly fixed my grandpa s junk truck. One bad thing is that his truck belonged
in the junkyard. It leaked gas, oil, and transmission fluid after three months of driving it and it went
straight to the junkyard. Then a couple months later at fifteen, I had already bought my own small
truck. This was quite the step up this one only leaked oil, but it was very slow. Going from zero to
sixty mph took about twenty five seconds. This is when I got myself a nice car that was fast,
comfortable, and didn t leak anything. That car was a ninety six Lincoln Town Car, but the car has
over two hundred twenty thousand miles on it. After putting ten thousand miles on it in seven months
it went to the junkyard. Now comes the nicest, most reliable, and smallest car that I

Summary Of Ray Bradbury s The Toynbee Convector
Where do we as a society, get the idea that lying is bad? In one aspect this perception that lying is bad
roots from the fact that lying can breed distrust. It can breed distrust in relationships, it can be what
leads a people to distrust their government; from distrust, comes disorder and all forms of chaos that
follows. Due to the fact we are a predominantly Christian nation, I also believe a healthy amount of
this perceptions is rooted in the Biblical exhortation Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy
neighbor. This, being the ninth commandment given to Moses by God, is commonly interpreted as
don t lie. However, reducing God s ninth commandment down to something as rudimentary as don t
lie distorted its true meaning. It s more than a mere an instruction not to lie, it is an instruction against
the creation of false narratives specifically with the intent to accuse or cause some form detriment
towards others. Lying itself is not evil; it is the reason behind one s lie that determines its morality.
However, as a society we are afraid to accept this because then how would it be restrained?
Ray Bradbury, one of America s greatest science fiction writers, wrote a short story (which eventually
was turned into a short film entitled) entitled the The Toynbee Convector. In the story a man named
Craig Bennett Stiles pretended to travel 100 years into the future, returning with photographs and
films he faked to simulate a glorious word free from pollution and

Songs Written During War Times
There was never a good war, or a bad peace. said Benjamin Franklin, showing the importance of peace
and unnecessariness of war. The songs are the symbol of sadness, love, desire, sorrow, expectancy and
other unnumbered emotions. And on the other hand the lyrics are the voice of the society. Therefore,
the lyricists and the artists composed songs for different occasions, such as hunger, poverty, demand
for freedom, and war. The war songs were also composed during the World War II, the Vietnam War
and the Cold War era as well to illuminate the wishes of the community. The songs sometimes showed
the anger of the people, sometimes the wish for peace and the anger to the leaders.

For example, the discovery of corn in places such as Southern Ontario proved the complexity of trade
routes as corn had originated in Mexico. Also, the Iroquois Constitution written somewhere around
1400, included rhetoric about land ownership, freedom of religion and the rights of women. To quote
Dr Poutanen, Aboriginal peoples before European contact were dynamic, complex, and culturally rich
as well as diverse. . The first Europeans had contact with Aboriginals around 1000 AD with the
landing of the Vikings in Newfoundland. However, long term settlement and engagement first
appeared when Jacques Cartier claimed areas of the St. Lawrence for France in 1534 under Francis I.
There were many different types of encounters including contact, collision and relationship. Initially,
settlers and indigenous tribes were peaceful, sharing gifts and culture. As time progressed however,
natives began to lose face with Europeans. Disease burdened the Natives as their bodies were not
immune to European disease. Many thousands of people died and those who didn t were forced to
abide by European rule. Even after fighting hard on the side of the British, the emergence of new
settlers after the War of 1812 pushed Aboriginals to the brink of society. New settlers needed the land
to colonize and farm. Some natives such as Louis Riel tried to resist; however it was futile. Europeans
took control of the land and granted natives only a small portion of their rightful

The Philosopher And The Filmmaker Michael Moore
At every point in history there are individuals who disagree with the norms of his or her society and
who advocate for social and political change. These individuals are referred to as agitators. While
these agitators come from across different historical time periods and locations some of them have
quite a bit in common. Even from as early as 399 BC to 2002, from as far as Athens, Greece to the
United States, there are agitators that had similar motivations and ways of achieving them. An
example would be the philosopher Socrates and the filmmaker Michael Moore. Despite some small
differences in approach, these two have many significant similarities as agitators. The most obvious
similarity between Socrates and Moore is that they are agitators, but it is more than them just
advocating social and political change. It s the methods in which they did so that were so similar. Both
of them seemed to address issues or put forth information that generated a lot of discomfort from the
people around them as well as criticism. For example, Moore has a part in his film that displays
instances of America supporting or creating corruption in other countries which leads to high levels of
violence (Moore). This among many of the other topics he discussed in the documentary caused a lot
of discomfort which led to harsh criticism such as an article entitled Bowling For Columbine:
Documentary or Fiction by David T. Hardy. He states that Bowling for Columbine is dishonest. It is

The aim of this paper is to explore and clearly explore how networks and teams can effectively be

Business Network Setup This organization to be networked has about 600 workers distributed evenly
among six different user departments. Its headquarters is located in Los Angeles, CA, and it has major
offices in Madrid, Spain, Tokyo, Japan, and Sydney, Australia. It doesn t have an effective line of
communication between the user departments and the head office. The aim is to develop a network
system capable of securing and making sure of effective communication between the smaller
companies (owned by larger companies) in different countries and between the different user
departments with the organizations head office. In order to design and build a well secured network,
many factors must be taken into the process of carefully thinking about something. These important
factors of something to think about include such factors as the topology and placement of hosts within
the network, the selection of hardware and software technologies for the network setup, and the
careful setup of each part within the network in order to make sure that an effective system is
developed linking all user departments and smaller companies (owned by larger companies) to the

A Day At The Touro Synagogue
On Saturday morning, October 15th, 2016, my friends and I visited the Touro Synagogue. We attended
a synagogue Sabbath worship which took place for less than two hours. I was really excited and eager
because I have never experienced any ritual service before. As I first entered the small chapel, I was
struck by the beautiful, magnificent architecture of the place. It was a clean, warm place with a nice
chandelier. The upper wall is covered with glass windows that help light up the small chapel and bring
a refreshing feeling. We were given directions to obtain the service books on the shelves outside
before the ritual service began. As I went further inside the chapel, a lady greeted me with the phrase
Shabbat shalom. All the people there were friendly and greeted us with smiles. I noticed some men
wore their Kippot and Tallitot. We had some small introductions and conversations. After getting
service books, my friends and I sat in the back row of the chapel. The place was quiet with a sense of
peace and contentment. A few minutes after, the Rabbi and the Cantor came in, and the Sabbath
service began.
As this Sabbath service was my first experience, I was curious about every little thing that happens.
During the Sabbath service, the Rabbi gave us directions to follow hymn pages in the service book.
This book was written in both Hebrew and English. There were different prayers with different
sections. We sat down in some parts and stood up in some other parts. Sometimes the

Secret Service Ethical Issues
The morality of this case is a particularly hard one to decide upon. Considering the view of a
consequentialist theory is very much different than the decision reached by some non consequentialist
views. Although these differences exist, I believe the way the moral issue is stated clearly shows how
the actions of the Secret Service were morally sound. In this essay, the moral issue was questioning if
the Secret Service was wrong to hire Albert Gonzalez. If the issue had been about Gonzalez s actions,
then I might reach a different ruling. However, because we are only looking at the Secret Service s
actions, I believe they did nothing wrong. The fact that this case is significant shows there are larger
problems at hand than the Secret Service ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As cited repeatedly in the paper, the Secret Service was fully aware of Gonzalez potentially acting out
while working for them. For me, that is enough to constitute an informed decision because at least a
little thought was given to any and all potential consequences. Could they have been more careful and
provided more supervision? Of course they could have, however that is not the moral issue being
addressed here. Furthermore, I believe it is safe to assume the Secret Service hired Gonzalez out of
necessity. The government does not have the best habits of staying at the forefront of technology; the
knowledge possessed by Gonzalez surely surpasses any other potential candidates for the job
Gonzalez was hired for. Not only that, but I believe the Secret Service did all involved parties a favor
by keeping Gonzalez out of jail the first time because everyone benefits from his knowledge,
Gonzalez did not have to waste away in jail, and people did not have to lose even more money to
Gonzalez due to the costs of putting him in jail for a lengthy sentence. Also, it was nice of the Secret
Service to give Gonzalez a second chance at the unripe, young age of 23. Could there be an argument

Plaque is a clear bio film of buildup on the teeth that can lead to both tooth decay and gum disease.
Chewing gum or eating any food can cause plaque to form. After consuming food or chewing gum,

Soft Bone Fractures
The argument still takes place among parents as to whether or not weak or soft bones result in more
fractures in children of young ages. Lack of nutrition in a child s overall health can result from soft
bones due to missing core vitamins and other necessary nutrients. The well known childhood disease
known as Rickets is the deficiency of bone mineralization that is mostly recognizable at the growth
plate. (The Lancet; October 2003, Wharton, Bishop) Rickets occurs when the ossification process
where cartilage is transformed into bone does not occur which results in the softening of the bone at
the end.
Soft bones are due to the lack of the ossification process taking place correctly, where the bone is
hardened. Bones that are soft as a result of those deficient in calcium, phosphate, or vitamin are more

Analysis Of Donatello s Equestrian Monument Of Erasmo Da...
It is intriguing to notice throughout art history the relationship between the artist and the patron. Many
famous and outstanding works of art only exist because of the wealthy patron behind the work. From
early renaissance sculpture to baroque style painting, patrons become increasingly interested in
commissioning art as a way of exhibiting their great power and influence whilst maintaining an image
of poise and regality. Donatello s Equestrian Monument of Erasmo da Narni, (Gattamelata), (1443
1453) is a bronze sculpture made to commemorate the military accomplishments during Gattamelata s
lifetime. Although the sculpture was constructed after his death, Donatello represents the general as
youthful and stern. Anthony van Dyck s painting, Charles I at the Hunt, 1635, conveys a similar

chose to show a youthful Erasmo in his prime and hardened from battle. This further establishes
himself as a confident leader. He holds a baton diagonally in his right hand giving the statue forward

Polytheism In Latin America
Spain and Portugal successfully colonized South America during the 15th century and as a result
exploited the land they conquered to their benefit. The Treaty of Tordesillas divided the region
between the two great powers and allowed them to do what they wished with the land they controlled.
Religious missionaries worked to convert the natives to the scripture of the Catholic Church while
simultaneously enslaving them and claiming their resources as their own. The indigenous people were
infuriated with the arrogance of their European conquerors and found inspiration from the United
States of America and the French to lead a revolution of their own. The consequences of these series
of uprisings and the basis for their desire to possess independence is still being witnessed in modern
day Mexico, through the Zapatistas. The Aztecs, Mayans, and Incas were three prominent cultures in
South America. Polytheism, human sacrifice, agriculture, and a self governed empires were all aspects

Policy Review Essay
Introduction
A policy is defined as a definite course or method of action selected from among alternatives and in
light of given conditions to guide and determine present and future decisions (Miriam Webster, para.

patients and the public (Collins Patel, 2009, p.42). In nursing practice, it is important to understand
these different policies as they influence our nursing practice every day. Ballarat Health Services

Since the Edward Snowden leak in 2013, the controversy over NSA surveillance has focused on the
invasion of privacy of United States citizens. Specifically the bulk collection programs that have
picked up American phone data, even of those who haven t done anything wrong. This invasion of
privacy has been deemed unconstitutional by many and for good reason.
In recent years, the NSA controversy has become more eminent, mostly due to the Edward Snowden
Leak in 2013. This leak revealed sensitive information about the NSA tracking the movements of
millions of people using cell phone metadata and the action of the NSA intercepting and storing data
on billions of people all over the world. More recently, in 2015, key provisions of the Patriot Act, a
law intended to help the United States government detect and prevent acts of terrorism or the
sponsorship of terrorist organizations, were debated over whether or not they should be allowed to
expire. Due to their mass cellphone data collection program, other programs involving the wiretapping
of suspects, and more that were possible threats to the privacy of U.S. citizen s, there was substantial
discourse about what to do with these key provisions. These key provisions, specifically, Section 215,
were renewed until 2019, with the exception of the mass collection of phone data, which was revised
with more restrictions because it was the most controversial.

America was close to losing Japan s friendship when many people in California started a campaign to

unfairly competed for jobs that rightfully belonged to native born white workers (Keene, 585).
California spoke out about protecting their nation from the yellow peril and they lumped all Asians

not being as good as themselves and was insulted to be grouped with them. In order to remain in good

Mr Palmer Ischaemic Stroke Case Study Nursing
Mrs Alice Palmer is 54 years old, female and has had hypertension for years but does not take
medication for it. Ischaemic strokes are usually caused by blood clots that form and block vessels to
the bloodstream resulting in tissue in the brain dying. (Stroke Foundation Australia, 2016). Compared
to another 54 year old woman who doesn t have hypertension, Mrs Palmer s risk of a stroke is higher
due to the hypertension. Age is another factor that contributes to the risk of having a stroke especially
an ischaemic stroke, as the older you get the more chance of having a stroke increases (Stroke
Foundation Australia, 2016). Gender is said to be a risk factor as well, men have a more increased
chance of having a stroke. Another factor to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cardiovascular assessment will be needed because of Mrs Palmers history of hypertension and also to
assess the blood flow around her body. The nurse will need to conduct a pain assessment (PQRSTU)
to assess what sort of pain or discomfort she may have. A neurological assessment will be used to
ensure her bilateral visual field deficits don t decrease and also to ensure all parts of the brain are
functioning since she is having difficulty remembering recent information and has to be prompted to
remember. Glasgow coma scale assessment will need to be conducted regularly to ensure that there isn
t a decrease in her visual, verbal and motor skills. Finally, a musculoskeletal assessment must be taken
as she has left hemiparesis and to ensure that does not get worse. Mrs Palmer s findings do differ from
a normal person findings because her blood pressure is high but that is normal for her because she has
had hypertension for years. Her resting heart rate is high but still in the normal range, this differs from
a normal 54 year old woman s average heart rate is usually around 74 77 at rest but Mrs Palmers is 89
which means it is higher than average and could affect her health if not monitored regularly (Wood,

Romanticism And Gothicism In Jane Austen s Northanger Abbey
The class of the novel started just in the eighteenth century however since its exceptionally beginning
it grew quickly. The distinctive sorts of the class gain for instance a novel of conduct, a household
novel or a Gothic novel. The Gothic novel is a well unmistakable sort among the others and has a
critical effect on the improvement of the entire type of the novel. In opposition to Neoclassicism
which adulated realism, Gothicism did not trail the principles of etiquette, did not matter instructive
highlights but rather put highlight on secret, ponder and sublimity. Along these lines, Gothic fiction
increased tremendous prevalence among the users. In any case, after numerous books of the kind
being distributed, they ended up being regular too every one of the stories connected a similar
arrangement of highlights for the setting, plot and characters. That brought a rush of feedback of the

Jane Austen displays the differentiation between the world as it is and the world as seen by the
exaggerating whom she wished to disparage. She communicates it by the difference between a typical,
sound natured young lady and the sentimental courageous women of fiction, and by demonstrating the
young lady marginally influenced with sentimental ideas. Gothic books and their traditions happen all
through the novel, particularly in its second part. In transit from Bath to Northanger Abbey, the Tilney
family situate, Henry recounts a comical speculative tale about Catherine s first night in the Abbey,
including common highlights of gothic novel. He teasingly gives a portrayal that is a composite of
points of interest from Radcliffe s books. As the creator expected to disparage the Gothic novel she
needed to utilize the highlights average for this sort. Not withstanding, not every one of them happen

Reflection Of Education As A Vocab Levels In Elementary...
I m really excited to be in your class this year. We read romeo and juliet last year but only scratched
the surface in terms of new vocabulary and challenging literature. This year I am optimistic that we
will tackle harder books together and challenge our vocab levels. I m not too sure that I m all that
exciting, but I ll try. My full name is Jackson Heath Meriwether and I was born in Columbia, South
Carolina just like my parents and theirs before me. The education I ve received started in Pre k at a
little private school called Harmony. From there I had elementary school at Brennen from
kindergarten through 5th grade. I tried a charter school for the sciences for the first half of 6th grade
and after that I ended up here at heathwood.
My extracurricular activities and hobbies range from soccer, cross country, swimming, and mountain
biking to gaming and watching movies. I play soccer and run cross country for heathwood and play
for a challenge travel soccer team in the fall. Lately I ve also been trying to get back into guitar. Of
these hobbies the one most important to me would probably be soccer since it combines a team sport
with the need for an individual to excel at the same time. What I want from my education is really the
ability to talk, hold a conversation, and be around every type of person from an english scholar to a
mathematician. I not to picky when it comes to teaching styles and teachers, however I prefer to be
challenged in class while engaging with a

Certified Nursing Assistant Test Essay
This should be super easy. When the time came around to take my Certified Nursing Assistant test, I
thought I practically already got my certificate. The CNA test includes a written portion and a clinical
skills test. In order to get the certificate, you must pass both parts. For the clinical skills test, you
perform two skills that are assigned to you for the patient , which is usually a volunteer, in front of a
skills evaluator. My teachers had made sure that we all practiced the skills being tested as well as take
practice tests for the written portion of the CNA test. Each time I had done great. So yes, my head got
a little big and I patted myself on the back, whispering I got this. every time another student would
come in nervous from their test. But boy did life have a lesson in store for me. I walked into the room,
confidence a little too high and performed my skills in front of the skills evaluator. Walking out, I
thought I passed. I told my teachers, my friends, I even texted my mother, ... Show more content on

myself drown in my self pity. I mean, Cristina Yang would never just give up. So I sent the form to
retake my test and I studied my skills beginning to end, end to beginning until I basically ate, slept,
and breathed clinical skills. The day before my test, I decided to really test how much I had learned
from studying and stayed after school with my teachers. From them, I learned some tips and got some
constructive criticism. But the best thing I was told was not to doubt myself. I thought she was just
crazy. Lady, did you not see when I first took this test? Not doubting myself doesn t work out too well
for me. The day of the test, I was nervous throughout the drive to the Red Cross

Ischemic Stroke Case Study Paper
Case Study: Patient with Ischemic Stroke Mrs. Alice Palmer is a 54 year old married woman who has
been admitted and is being treated with an ischemic stroke which she had 18 hours ago. This paper
explores the nursing care of Mrs. Alice Palmer based on the clinical reasoning cycle by considering
her situation first, collecting cues and information about her, processing the information gathered, then
identifying problems or issues she is experiencing, and finally carrying out a detailed assessment.
Also, the paper focuses on setting goals and establishing a nursing care plan in the community, and
target ethnically safe practice. Ischemic stroke occurs when the brain tissue does not receive sufficient
oxygenated blood due to an obstruction of the carotid artery (Brunner, Suddarth, Smeltzer, 2008).

Alice Palmer has a mild brain tissue damage associated with the ischemic stroke as evidenced by a
Glasgow Coma Scale score of 15. On the other hand, she has a normal heart rate of 89 beats per
minute (HR 89) and a blood pressure of 155/90 mmHg. A blood pressure of 155/90 mmHg is an
indication of stage 1 hypertension. Mrs. Alice Palmer is hypertensive because she refused to take
medication while she was at home (Grace Meissner, 2011; Fortrat Gharib, 2016). Further, Mrs. Alice
Palmer has a left sided hemiparesis which indicates damage to the right side of the brain. Left sided
hemiparesis is a weak muscle tone of the left side of the body which leads to faded movement and
carrying out self care activities such as dressing, bathing, and grabbing objects (Fischer et al., 2016).
Moreover, damage to the right side of the brain is associated with poor memory since the limbic
system is located in that region (Usher Marriott, 2011). Also, Mrs. Alice had a bilateral visual field
deficit because of the mild brain tissue damage associated with the ischemic

  • 2. The Power of Sexuality in Bel Ami The can can, cabaret and prostitution dominated Paris in La Belle Epoque. Sex was a commerce, an escape, and a way of life. It s prominence in Parisian culture made sexuality synonymous with power and a tool for obtaining it. The combination of beauty and assertiveness could get you places that hard, honest work simply could not. Both men and women took advantage of this lustful commodity—prostitutes and mistresses were seen as status symbols, while flirtatious femme fatales had their way with the rich and successful. But love, illustrated in Guy de Maupassant s Bel Ami, was far from romantic. It was a well planned out ritual, full of lies, deceit and infidelity. However, the power of sexuality in La Belle Epoque does not stray far from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Maupassant informs the reader of Duroy s lack of conscience, while at the same time is careful not to criticize his behavior. The power of sexuality and the act of using others to get what one wants is portrayed as only natural. So, naturally, the women of Bel Ami are also culprits in this web of selfishness. Duroy sees females as fish to catch (Maupassant 25)—but is he the fisherman or is he the fish? The term feminism, as it is described today, did not exist n La Belle Epoque. Prostitution was not seen as degrading—in fact, women using their sexuality to get what they wanted could be viewed as a feminist act. In Bel Ami, Duroy uses both Rachel and Madame de Marelle, but at the same time they are using him as well. Rachel makes a living by selling her body, so to her, he is just another paying customer—there is no romantic involvement or emotional attatchment. If it wasn t Duroy, it would be someone else. He is using her for sex, but she is in turn using him for money. Then there is Clotilde, who uses her power of flirtation and sexuality not for money but to fulfill her own lustful desires. She is married to an older man and finds her secret relationship with Duroy to be different and exciting. Clotilde loves going out to seedy places with Duroy—places that she could never set foot in with her husband. Duroy takes her to a small café where ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Poor Electricity Supply And Lack Of Internet Connectivity 3.1. 3 Poor Electricity Supply and Lack of Internet Connectivity Lack of constant supply of electricity has also been identified by many researchers as a major barrier to a successful wider implementation and adoption of EHR in this region (Oluoch, et al., 2012; Awokola, et al., 2012; Pantuvo et al., 2011). For instance, Awokola and colleagues reported that for many months, they could not use the EHR consistently because of constant power outage. On some occasions, the power packs in some central processing units of the table top computers got damaged and had to be replaced. In addition, Pantuvo et al. (2011) stated that many hospitals in this region do not have access to constant electricity supply. In fact, many hospitals depend mainly on the alternative power supply commonly called generator for their operations. Due to the infrastructure problems throughout the country and lack of guarantee of always on internet connection or even ensure an uninterrupted electrical supply, nationwide adoption/ wider implementation of EHR in Nigeria may not be possible (Chaplin et al., 2015). Furthermore, the study conducted on the use of health information and communication technologies (HICTs) by health workers in seven state hospitals and a private hospital in the North Eastern Zone, Ogun State, Nigeria. • 5. The French Revolution Was Inspired By The Ideas From The... The French Revolution was inspired by the ideas from the Enlightenment. The main goal that the Enlightenment tried to reach was to promote scientific reasoning and end the injustice in the way governments were performing. Due to the previous era, being the Enlightenment, French Revolutionists saw that Enlightenment participants, such as Rousseau, Voltaire, Robspierre ,and Beccaria, along with works such as Declaration of the Rights of Man and multiple posters, took a step towards new reforms and follow in their path and ideas. These French Revolutionists succeeded in some ways, yet remained unsuccessful in more ways. Document 1 from Jean Jacques Rousseau concludes that a man needs to control his own freedoms. Rousseau, a philosopher, believed in a Republic because he believed that people need to have more power and individual freedoms must be improved. In his Social Contract, he calls for a sovereign, which will benefit the good of an individual, but even better the overall group with intentions that aim for the common good. A need for a change in government was wanted because a monarch rule was not wanted. A new type of government, a provisional republic formed after King Louis Philippe was abdicated, gave universal male suffrage and ended slavery and the death penalty. Klosterman, gives examples from both sides. Memories are the past, it is ok to remember them and think about them, maybe even smile from them, just don t live there. • 8. Why On Earth Violet Why on earth, Violet? Stewart O nan wrote the short story Why on earth, Violet in 1997. The story is about the misconception, misinterpretation and misjudgment between children and grown up. It is about how the adults/grown up misunderstood the children s concern and it always ends in frustration in grownups. The grownups or her parents misunderstand her gesture. The narrator and main character is Violet, which feels like we almost can feel what she can see from her eyes. The text doesn t tell how old Violet is but we can clearly hear that she is just a child. For example when she saw an old and got scared, then she suddenly hides behind her mother s legs. She is an innocent and very honest girl. She doesn t really say a lot, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It clearly shows that the father is not just an ordinary Christian. The main story shows us the difference between children and grown ups. We can determine the major theme of the text in a different way. The text can define in a very religious way where it we can see how religious belief can manipulate anyone in a very bad way so easy. Sanctuary cities do not have to follow the exaggerated immigration laws, due to the tenth amendment. The tenth amendment separates federal and state powers, meaning that the states have jurisdiction in sanctuary cities. Referencing the Immigrant Legal Resource Center, the Amendment prevents the federal government from coercing state or local governments to use their resources to enforce a federal regulatory program ... Similarly to how the tenth amendment protects sanctuary cities from federal law, it also protects them from the federal government attempting to force sanctuary cities to provide information. For this reason, sanctuary cities keep a don t ask, don t tell policy. In addition to the don t ask, don t tell policy, sanctuary cities are protected another way. The Immigrant Legal Resource Center assures that, Congress cannot compel state or local governments to collect immigration status information in order to share it with the federal government. The don t ask, don t tell policy refers to the sanctuary cities version of not collecting data. Without collecting data, these cities are never in violation of federal law. There is very limited record keeping done in these cities, which works in tandem with the don t ask, don t tell policy. Also my personal career will definitely contain some greasy fun work preferably Diesel Technician. One of my first few memories with cars is me just playing with toys when I was very little. By the time I was five or six my parents had given me a miniature truck I could drive around the block and yard. Not long after that I got into bikes. Within a couple of months I had a fleet of bikes ranging, from a bike from the nineteen forties to a newer chopper styled bike. As soon as I turned fourteen I got a real job. Before I could afford a vehicle I drove around and constantly fixed my grandpa s junk truck. One bad thing is that his truck belonged in the junkyard. It leaked gas, oil, and transmission fluid after three months of driving it and it went straight to the junkyard. Then a couple months later at fifteen, I had already bought my own small truck. This was quite the step up this one only leaked oil, but it was very slow. Going from zero to sixty mph took about twenty five seconds. This is when I got myself a nice car that was fast, comfortable, and didn t leak anything. That car was a ninety six Lincoln Town Car, but the car has over two hundred twenty thousand miles on it. After putting ten thousand miles on it in seven months it went to the junkyard. Now comes the nicest, most reliable, and smallest car that I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 18. Summary Of Ray Bradbury s The Toynbee Convector Where do we as a society, get the idea that lying is bad? In one aspect this perception that lying is bad roots from the fact that lying can breed distrust. It can breed distrust in relationships, it can be what leads a people to distrust their government; from distrust, comes disorder and all forms of chaos that follows. Due to the fact we are a predominantly Christian nation, I also believe a healthy amount of this perceptions is rooted in the Biblical exhortation Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor. This, being the ninth commandment given to Moses by God, is commonly interpreted as don t lie. However, reducing God s ninth commandment down to something as rudimentary as don t lie distorted its true meaning. It s more than a mere an instruction not to lie, it is an instruction against the creation of false narratives specifically with the intent to accuse or cause some form detriment towards others. Lying itself is not evil; it is the reason behind one s lie that determines its morality. However, as a society we are afraid to accept this because then how would it be restrained? Ray Bradbury, one of America s greatest science fiction writers, wrote a short story (which eventually was turned into a short film entitled) entitled the The Toynbee Convector. In the story a man named Craig Bennett Stiles pretended to travel 100 years into the future, returning with photographs and films he faked to simulate a glorious word free from pollution and ... These individuals are referred to as agitators. While these agitators come from across different historical time periods and locations some of them have quite a bit in common. Even from as early as 399 BC to 2002, from as far as Athens, Greece to the United States, there are agitators that had similar motivations and ways of achieving them. An example would be the philosopher Socrates and the filmmaker Michael Moore. Despite some small differences in approach, these two have many significant similarities as agitators. The most obvious similarity between Socrates and Moore is that they are agitators, but it is more than them just advocating social and political change. It s the methods in which they did so that were so similar. Both of them seemed to address issues or put forth information that generated a lot of discomfort from the people around them as well as criticism. For example, Moore has a part in his film that displays instances of America supporting or creating corruption in other countries which leads to high levels of violence (Moore). As I first entered the small chapel, I was struck by the beautiful, magnificent architecture of the place. It was a clean, warm place with a nice chandelier. The upper wall is covered with glass windows that help light up the small chapel and bring a refreshing feeling. We were given directions to obtain the service books on the shelves outside before the ritual service began. As I went further inside the chapel, a lady greeted me with the phrase Shabbat shalom. All the people there were friendly and greeted us with smiles. I noticed some men wore their Kippot and Tallitot. We had some small introductions and conversations. After getting service books, my friends and I sat in the back row of the chapel. The place was quiet with a sense of peace and contentment. What these people wanted was for Asians to be prohibited from coming to America. These exclusion leagues believed that Asians threatened American culture and unfairly competed for jobs that rightfully belonged to native born white workers (Keene, 585). In order to remain in good relations with Japan, President Roosevelt created the Gentlemen s Agreement, which saved Japan from being lumped together with China. The social elements during this time showed just how racially motivated America could be. It also showed that some Americans did not care about their relations with other countries, as long as they had their jobs that rightfully belonged to them from being born in America (Keene, 585) This self entitlement that America had would end up causing many more problems down the line.
