The Startup s Unique Origin Story
Your Startup s Unique Origin Story Can Be Your Most Marketable Asset
Blood, sweat, tears ask the founder of any startup, and she ll tell you those are the building
blocks which went into her company. She has toiled for months, even years to make this happen,
often in some cramped space hidden away in the bowels of someone else s building.
Dig a little deeper, and you begin to learn more about how the company started and what made
its creator so passionate passionate enough to do the creating. If you re a consumer or an
investor, however, you shouldn t have to dig for this origin story. It should be front and center in
the startup s marketing campaign.
Why Share Your Origin Story
Your origin story is what sets you apart from your competition. Investors and consumers alike
have choice no matter the niche, and as a startup, you are in a position to cultivate your own
reputation.
If your origin story has to do with social responsibility, like Warby Parker s, this lends to your
credibility within your market. It never hurts to share your good karma.
Did you meet in college and have been best friends for decades? Did you use your own guerilla
marketing tactics to get off the ground? The story of Sara Blakely, her white pants, and her
footless pantyhose has made the origin story rounds for years for good reason.
Did you see a need in another industry and fill it with your own product? Nearly everyone in the
world knows Lamborghini s

My College Journey
During my twelve years of school, I have grown accustomed to knowing the people and
businesses in my city, and they knew me. I didn t realize it, but the comfortable environment of
knowing my neighbors was limiting my emotional and social maturity. I did not have a reason to
step outside the box, because I was in a place of comfort. As I embark on to this new college
journey, I will face many challenges that will offer a fresh start, on beginning a new chapter of my
life. There will be stumbling blocks towards transitioningto college life. These blocks involve
meeting new people, being self sufficient, and adapting to my new environment. Although these
challenges are difficult, I know there will be many lessons learned. These lessons will only
build me as an individual mentally and socially. What I have learned during brief time at Xavier
is that I am now willing to allow myself to fly in the winds of life. I say that because, all
successful people have had to overcome their uncertainties. For instance, according to the article
10 Celebs Who Faced Their Fears on HuffPost, actress Sofia Vergara had to overcome her anxiety
of Hispanic viewers forming a new perception of her in order to fully play her role as Gloria on the
show Modern Family (Kuster) Another celebritywho had to defeat their fear is Bob Newhart
(Kuster). To become the successful comedian that he is, Newhart had to vanquish his stage
fright(Kuster). Like these successful individuals, I have some

Advantages Of Agent Based Simulation
1.Introduction
Since the development of economics as a science, the majority of economists have used analytical
models to explain economics hugely based on mathematical principles. Starting from the basic
theorem of equilibrium which is very easily developed using mathematical principles only, to the
optimization techniques, which involves plain usage of derivatives and other mathematical
principles, these techniques lack to make a whole model with many unknowns in order to derive to
a complex set of results, in contrary to only one result working in certain assumptions that they
offer. Even though most of the theorems we use today in economics derive from analytical methods,
the need to make decisions or solve real economical issues nowadays ... Show more content on

Agent Based Modeling and Simulation
One could simply ask, why use ABM or ACE? As mentioned in the section above, there are several
reasons why using ABM has a sort of competitive advantages toward other analytical or statistical
based methods.
In ACE, the possibility to include a large number of agents in the model, all in distributed
corporation, provides creating of a large scale system in order to observe micro or macro
principles. This is quite hard and tedious to be accomplished even using econometric principles with
the help of software program, due to the problem of biased results and limitation on the dependent
variables. In the context of ACE, several experiments can be conducted with unlimited number of
agents involved in the system.
Secondly, ACE can be considered as a great software for any business who would like to make
decision making more strategic based, and furthermore, increase its competitive advantage in the
market, by simulation the same conditions of the actual current market, to a virtual world in a
simple software. Thereby usage of ACE is not restricted to only research based works, but can be
used as a competitive tool for any business as well. The traditional rules of forecasting or gaining
competence in a business do not provide such advanced possibility to forecast and

South Afric A Country Of The Country
Many years ago, Africa grew several powers from the control of European countries. The Western
countries send emissaries to explore and establish trade with native, but in that case same other
attract on working people having come there to work and live and to government the country when
they need. The word imperializem in my attention came as a domination by one country of the
political, economic or cultural life of another country. We have to be clear with what happened in
Africaand the region which represents a great rich country for materials and get attention of many
European country for goods and wealth potential. Europian estabilished colonies in the African
coastal region became more aggresive later on once they were expanding into other lands. We can
see that in the names Africa s countries have under the colony. For example, the Belgian Congo
instead of The Congo, Anglo Egypyian Sudan istead of Sudan, or German Southwest Africa
Namibia insted of Namibi. Those countries have both Europian and African names which means
that they belong and under which power rule they are. However, The African countries nowadays
tried to take way the kind of patterns they have, but the Congo, Cameroonand Central African
Republicare still suffering from the legacies of western imperialism. The Congo has a very
interesting story behind it. The King of Belgium was given the Congo during the Berlin
Conference. He used the Congo as a storage place for many of his possesions. This

The Trade Of The Fur Trade
The Fur trade flourished in the beginning of the 1600 s and prospered until the mid 1800. Some
of the most valuable items in the fur trade consisted of hats and pelts made from beaver. But
what caused the fall of the fur trade and why are furs and pelts no longer viewed as valuable as
they were hundreds of years ago. The act of trapping and skinning the fur from wild game is a
lost art form which still thrives in remote areas but not in most places like it did over 200 years
ago. If the fur trade was never introduced to North America and the people who inhabited it, then
the U.S. and Canadawould not be the countries they are today, and would not have developed the
trading posts that existed along the entire Mississippi river, which allowed for new arriving
Europeans to colonize. The fur trade all began between the Native Americans and the Europeans
in the early 1500 s, the earliest amongst the Europeans being France. The French would offer the
Native Americans goods such as knifes, kettles and other goods to establish a good relationship
with the natives. The Native Americans began to give pelts in return, and this is where a huge
demand for fur began by the Europeans. Before trade was done in the interior of modern day
Canada, the French would arrive on shore and wait for the Native Americans to come to the shore
to trade with them. After the voyage lead from Christopher Columbus, a French voyageur by the
name of Samuel de Champlain, ended up in Northeastern Canada. He

Evaluate the Role of Chemical Transmitters in Explaining Behavioural Disorders
All behaviour is provided by the nervous system from a blinking eye to talking. Everything we do
relies on the integration of numerous processes within the body, which is controlled by the nervous
system (Atkinson et al. 1990). It wasn t until the late 19th Century with the development of stronger
magnifying lenses and staining techniques that the nervous system could be looked at in detail
(Wickens, 2005). The integrating units of the nervous system are specialized cells called neurons.
There are approximately 1 billion neurons in a human brain. What makes them more astonishing is
that each single neuron is connected with around 10,000 others (Wickens, ... Show more content on

Furthermore Parkinson s disease, which is associated with a depletion of dopamine display
behaviours characteristic of schizophrenia when given too much L DOPA, a dopamine stimulant
(Gershon, Angrist, and Shopsin, 1977 as cited in Kalat, 1992). In addition if schizophrenics are
given drugs such as L DOPA their symptoms are heightened. (Kalat, 1992).
On the other hand there are problems with the dopamine hypothesis, as it suggests that
schizophrenics have an excess of dopamine in their brains. Deakin, 1988, as cites in Wickens,
2005, found little evidence for this following post mortems of schizophrenics. However a
number of studies have found that schizophrenics have an increase of dopamine D 2 receptors
(Jaskiw and Kleinman, 1988 as cited in Wickens, 2005) therefore it may be that increased uptake
by receptors is responsible rather than an excess of dopamine. This gives rise to cause and effect,
as is the schizophrenia caused by an increased number of receptors or is the increased number of
receptors a result of antipsychotic drugs.
The main criticism of an imbalance of neurotransmitters being the cause of schizophrenia is the
finding that antipsychotics block receptors within a day or two, although it takes several weeks for
them to take full affect (Wickens, 2005). This suggests that the key factor in improvement is not the

teachers would treat him punitively meaning that they were aiming to punish him based on his
prior actions and his color. Rios mentioned Smiley as being a naГЇve boy, he suffered physical
abuse from his parents along with that his parents often kicked him out as a punishment for
questioning them and informing them about the negative ways his teachers went about treating

Reptile Bedroom Sparknotes
The three Baudelaire orphans have been placed under the care of their closest living relative,
herpetologist, Dr. Montgomery Montgomery. Uncle Monty , as he prefers to be called, is a
short, chubby man with a round, red face. The children immediately like him. He lets them each
choose their own bedroom and informs them that they are going to accompany him on a trip to
Peru to study snakes. The children are fascinated by the many snakes in the Reptile Room , a
giant hall in which Monty s reptile collection is stored. They meet the Incredibly Deadly Viper, a
friendly snake with a misnomer, which Uncle Monty recently discovered. The three children are
each given jobs in the Reptile Room: Violet is given the job of inventing traps for new snakes

Knowledge is arguably the World s most valuable resource; without it the human race would be in
the darkness, surrounded by predators and savages. However, the Human race has never been keen
to have its final moments in the dark. Humans produced fire, managed to capture it in glass, built
cities fueled by it and have fought wars over the right to stand in its light. With that in mind, the

In Drawing a Line in the Gay Wedding Cake Case by John Corvino discusses the dispute between
the owner of Masterpiece Cakeshop and Charlie Craig and his fiancГ© David Mullins. Craig and
his fiancГ© were awfully discriminated by the owner of Masterpiece Cakeshop as he refused to
make a cake for the couple s wedding. He refused due to his religious beliefs and claims he was not
discriminating based on sexual orientation as he offered to sell them items like a birthday cake or
cookies.
The U.S Supreme will be hearing this case and should side with Craig and his FiancГ© as they
are victims of such discrimination. The owner should not have refused to make a couple simply
because in his eyes same sex marriage is a sin. No one

The Use Of Media And Media During The French Revolution
Media and propaganda have helped establish free societies, overthrow governments, and incite wars
throughout history. Revolutionaries utilized each to inspire and unite the populace during the
French Revolution. Persuasive newspapers and pamphlets featured opinion pieces that convinced
commoners of the drastic economic, social, and political changes needed to improve their quality of
life, role in society and potential for social advancement. Revolutionaries used art in museums and
mass distributed prints as propaganda to rally the masses with nationalistic themes of heroism,
martyrdom and the power of the people. Music and festivals also contributed by infusing the masses
with passion to unite against the monarchy and fight for the revolution. The use of media and
propaganda in the French Revolutionsystematically distributed revolutionary ideas to the people
and drastically altered the course of the movement.
The French Revolution officially began in 1789, but the monarchy made a series of disastrous
earlier decisions which created the perfect conditions for the movement to thrive and engulf the
country in chaos. King Louis XVI dedicated funds to assist the American colonists in their fight for
independence against the British. While the French succeeded in their goal, the war left France
with a depleted treasury. Peasants became dissatisfied with the government after a series of
droughts and poor harvests. Tensions were further inflamed by the high taxes the monarchy

The Treatment Of Psychiatric Drugs
The Use of Psychiatric Drugs To Treat Children
Statistics determine that seventeen million children in the world have been prescribed
psychiatric medications for mental illnesses or disorders ( Facts and Statistics ). In a society
where one in four people suffer from a mental illness, it s disturbing to find that many of these
people are children. Many of these children will never have the opportunity to live normally
without being under the influence of a drug. After taking a position as a lead teacher for a two year
old classroom, it s disheartening to hear that children as young as eighteen months old are being
prescribed psychiatric medication. One can imagine how severe the physical, mental, emotional,
and social impact would be on a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These drugs are generally prescribed when a person is diagnosed with a mental illness such as
Schizophrenia, Depression, or Attention Deficit Disorder. The sudden rise in number of mental
illness diagnoses has led to a rapid increase in the number of prescriptions recommended to patients.
Sadly, many of these patients are children who are diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder,
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and Depression. According to Erica Goode, studies
indicate that pediatricians and child psychiatrists , are frequently leaning towards the use of
psychotropic medication as the treatment of choice for an assortment of mental illnesses and
disorders (Goode, Study Finds Jump in Children Taking Psychiatric Drugs ). This acknowledgement
solidifies the unsettling norm of children taking prescription drugs daily in an effort to mask their
behaviors. Instead of using numerous methods of teaching and parenting to counteract unpleasant
or hyperactive behavior, professionals have now employed a different approach by using
medicalization to treat emotional and behavioral problems (Mcleod et. al, 54). The problem with
this approach is that the behavior is never actually addressed. Instead it s medicated causing
children to become zombies or robots rather than living, breathing, human beings, with genuine
thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.
In addition to the strange increase in the use of psychiatric drugs to treat children, there are also

How Did Ww2 Affect Canada
The Second World War was the largest and most violent war to date. With an estimated 50 80

in human history. WWII was a turning point for Canada and its role in International conflict.
Canada proved itself a strong force in battle, and put on a unified front along with the other Allied

and a terrible defeat during the battle of Dieppe.
World War Two was the first time that Canada was able to decide as a country whether or not to

WWII and supplied many men with jobs following the Great Depression. Women also played a

Documentary And Narrative Filmmaking
What makes documentary filmmaking distinct to narrative filmmaking? There are a few
contrasting objectives for both types of filmmaking that distinguishes them from each other.
Simply put, narrative filmmaking is a movie with a pre written script, actors and a story which is
already crafted before they start shooting. while documentaries are filmmaking where real life
events are captured, and a script is usually written afterwards. Narrative films rely on the three act
structure which goes Setup, Confrontation and Resolution or in other words, a beginning, middle
and end. The main aim for the three act structure is for the story to develop while the stakes get
risker for our characters, so they evolve as the movie goes on. Narrative film... Show more content

Moore had an agenda against President George W. Bush while making the film and edited the

politically but on an emotional and visceral level. I hope we have made a contribution to this art

the debate surrounding the film involved Moore s satirical styling. Some argued Moore tried too
hard to make his movie entertaining and, in the process, would often distort pieces of information.
(Bryd, 2017) This is yet another possible example of filmmakers showing the audience what they
want to see and not the complete truth. While it is not proven that Moore did bend the truth,
therefore it is nearly impossible to create a comprehensive code of ethics when making a

Munro s Argumentative Essay
I will discuss now whether No Advantages causes the readers to identify the homodiegetic narrator
to the author, offering an autobiographical pact to the reader. Beforehand, I want to point out that
returning to the author must not necessarily means to equate author and narrator simply (see
Kumray 32f). In contrast to this, I more interested in revealing the rhetorical strategy that leads the
readers to assume that the author speaks to them, and not a narrator ontological independent from
him/her. Obviously, the easiest way to provoke this equation is that the author and the narrator
share the same name (see Kumrey 43). However, information about the author that the readers have
and can relater to the narrator lead likewise to identitify... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, she quotes the above mentioned report on valley that inspirited the title of the story
(see Munro 3). Also, other sources to which Munro refers, namely the Blackwoods Magazine (I)
and the The Minstrelsy of the Scottish Bard (I), reappear in No Advantages again (see Munro 19,
26). The narrator does exactly the same that the author announced in the foreword, including her
remark about the reports on the ancestors that resemble stories. To select one arbitrary example, the
author reports in the foreword that Walter Scott had visited her ancestor to gather Scottish ballads
(Munro I). In No Advantages, the readers also encounter a narrative how Scott visits one of her
ancestors (see Munro 21ff). Thereby, she changes from a homodiegetic I narrator to a
heterodiegetic one, as she would tell a story: Walter Scott was an outsider of sorts, an Edinburgh
lawyer now appointed to a high post in his familyВґs traditional territory. (Munro 21). However, she
sometimes returns from the family narratives to her starting point as descendant who is keen to
explore the life of her ancestors. For instance, the critique of her ancestor on ScottВґs way to
present her ballads let her drawn following conclusion: Scots are like that. I think. My family
was like that (Munro 22). . It seems that the readers bear witness how Munro collects her
material to create on her family by reading how the narrator presents and reflects on the life of
her Scottish ancestors since she sticks meticulously to the poetic agenda displayed in the
foreword. Thus, the autobiographical pact is not only in force if she writes about her research in
Scotland but also as she tells stories about the life of her ancestors. The readers are likely to
believe that Munro directly speaks to them while her narrations and not to dinstiguish Munro from a

Introduction
The Apostle John, the one Jesus loved was said to have lived longer than any of the twelve
Apostles after the death and resurrection of Christ. The Gospel in his name provides one of the
most commonly used circular for evangelism today, just as it did late in first century Asia Minor.
Many traveled to learn from him and hear his stories about Jesus. Too many John was the primary

Judaism. His church was Jewish Christians that knew little about Greeks, but live along side of
Greeks. Their common bond was their allegiance to Jesus. This was a church that was united. Until

1.Conceptual Introduction Staffing management deals with a comprehensive term for all operative

Essay on the Rental Heart
Most people have tried it before, and those that haven t are either too young to have tried it, or
simply just heartless. It s terrible and beautiful all at the same time, which is probably why it s
such a great topic for stories. However, getting your heart broken at some point in your life is
inevitable. For some, it happens more than once. This is the case for our main character in the short
storyThe Rental Heart , by Kirsty Logan.
To begin with, the reader has no clue as to whether the main character is a boy or a girl. In my head
though, I got the image of a girl. The story is about this girl, who gets her heart broken over and
over again, by boys as well as girls (she is bisexual). It s not really a problem for her, because she ...

Maybe it s simply a whole different world! She also uses many symbols, especially to express
how love feels to the main character. The heart was dusty and tarnished and utterly empty . This
shows the reader just how heart broken she was. Her heart hasn t felt real love in a long time, so
it is dusty. It has been abused many times, so it is tarnished. And because of all this, it leaves her
with nothing more than an empty space. Maybe the island that she says she went to for a year isn
t really an island that she actually went to either. Maybe she just closed herself down mentally,
unable to deal with the world with a broken heart. That could have felt to other people, as if she
was actually away on an island.
What seems to be pulling this story towards science fiction the most however, seems to be the fact
that even though it s all clearly one big metaphor for getting your heart broken and mending it
again, it s nowhere close to how reality is. Heartbreaks come in all shapes and sizes. But in real
life you can t just go well, tough luck, she wasn t the one for me, so I m not going to be sad about
it . Healing a broken heart takes time in the real, non fictional world. Just changing it like it s
nothing, that s the real science fiction in the story.
All in all, we should be glad that we don t have these kinds of rental services available. It would be
way too boring. What makes life exciting is that it s fragile; you never know

Just Mercy Book Report
As a young child I remember being asked the question: what do you want to be when you grow
up. While I struggled with the answer for many years, in the course of deep reflection I found that
I knew two truths about myself: I loved education, and I gained fulfillment through helping others.
Developing and learning in the course of my four years at Loyola University Chicago, I discovered a
passion to pursue a career in higher education.
The early years in my life were characterized by my childhood community in the western suburbs of
Chicago. My hometown was very sheltered with little diversity. Upon graduation from high school,
I knew I wanted to join a community where I would be challenged, supported, and most
importantly, be with those who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Going to college and being in a university setting was the first time my perspectives and ideas
were broadened. I was able to see the world outside my small suburb, and learned harsh realities,
which I was sheltered from my whole life. Social justice advocate, Bryan Stevenson, expounds
the idea of getting proximate to issues that one cares about. For me, getting proximate was
accomplished by being on a university campus, and learning from the ideas of others, as well as
new, first hand experiences. As I was supported and encouraged in my growth at Loyola, I want to
provide the same assistance for other students. Through my years I have excelled at organization
and coordination, skills that I hope to apply in order to help students in a university setting. More
so, I want to help support students who enter college, those who wish to expand their knowledge,
viewpoints, and minds. Higher education would offer me a unique opportunity where I would be
able to support students in their growth as a person, while offering encouragement and assistance to
students throughout their college

A few character developments were used to describe Harold, such as, personal history, what they

Informative Speech On Red Wine
Red wine is a type of alcoholic beverage that is made out of dark coloured grapes. There are
diverse varieties of wine like Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Madiran and much more. The
colour of red wine can range from violet to brown. There is an estimated total of 100 countries
that have wineries. One of which is the oldest known winery in Armenia, a country near
Georgia, Turkey and Iraq. You might think that red wine is inadequate as it can get you
intoxicated, which can then lead to accidents, this is partially false. Firstly, you need to know
how much to drink per day, secondly, how and why red wine can alleviate your health and well
being and lastly, data and statistics that have been collected from around the globe. There s a
difference between getting intoxicated and having a beneficial amount. According to many
online sources, the recommended healthy daily intake of red wine is approximately 150
millilitres. To be more specific, 1 1.5 glasses for women and 1 2 glasses for men per day.
Remember that other alcohol consumed adds up to your total daily intake. They also
recommended for those who do this to have at least 1 2 days without consuming alcohol per
week. Having this much wine per day is called moderate or regular consumption. However, there
are some hazardous problems if you have a vast quantity of red wine or any kind of alcohol over
the recommended amount, such as addiction, depression, stroke and several types of cancer. In

How To Go Sled
Once we got our snow gear on and closed the door to the porch, Emmi noticed a bird lying in the
snow. She examined it in her gloves and noticed it was struggling. We carried it to the playhouse
where it was warm and sat in the chairs, warming it up until we rested it on the rail, so it could fly
away when it was able. She saved it. Now we were off to go sled.
Every year, until now, we had a contest to see who could make it the farthest down the hill.
Since we wanted to win, all we would do is sled. We tried several strategies, like toboggans, circle
sleds, rectangle sleds, more people, less people. We tried literally everything. Then, we made a
decision I wish we never made. We decided to tie two sleds together.

sustainable business practices. In the 2014 annual report, various sustainable community,

sustainable reporting already. There are multiple functional changes that can occur in order for AT
T to improve their sustainability. Global reporting lists environmental, social, and economic impacts
as the key aspects to identify in sustainability reporting. AT T also should list the ways in which its
technology is helping sustainable living because they are a technology based company; therefore,

Computer Generated Imagery And Its Effects
Computer generated imagery was being developed during the 1980s and it soon started being
used in films for effects. Rickitt (2006) explains that effects during the 80s were not just there to
solve problems and producing impossible shots like their initial purpose but used as a marketing
tool for films to promote themselves based on the quality of the image and amount of visual effects
involved. Star Wars was the first filmto make use of this marketing tool and made people grow
more interest on the film itself as well as the effects and of course, this brought more income to
the studios. This trend of using effects to promote films was immediately picked up and abused,
but it did not last long. Tron (1982) was the first film based almost entirely on computer
generated scenery and massively advertised for them. However it ended up failing at the box
office even though it had superb computer generated effects at the time of its release. Rickitt
described that the failure of Tron could have been what made visual effects take longer to develop
and being incorporated in films. This was the first sign that a film heavily equipped with effects
does not mean that it would make a hit. Narrative is an important element of a film and effects
cannot compensate for a bad narrative (McClean, 2007).
After a decade of slow development, computer generated imagery made its appearance once more
in Jurassic Park (1993) and changed the opinions directors and studios regarding visual effects.

according to the standards of the Environmental Protection Agency (Facts and Figures 2014). So,
that means that two million tons were disposed of through landfills or other disposal methods. This
enormous amount of e waste has become a prominent issue due to our political economic system,
better known as capitalism. However, our capitalistic system doesn t just effect our country when it

This movement is called the Environmental Justice movement and its principle is for there to be
an equal distribution of environmental goods and bads throughout the world (Robbins et al.
2014). Most people see developed countries dumping their electronic waste on weak and
developing nations as an issue. It is supported by the Environmental Justice Principle that states
that all environmental actions must be made free of any form of discrimination or bias
(Delegates 1991). This major issue is both discriminatory and bias because the dumping of e
waste onto weak and developing nations is not seen as socially acceptable and its bias due to
developed countries thinking they can do based on the fact that developing nations do not cause
as much pollution as they do. Another Environmental issue is the knowledge and regulations
that workers in developing nations have were breaking down these old computer, televisions,
cell phones, and other electronic devices. Currently workers in Hong Kong have no regulations
or health benefits to protect them (Watchdog Group 2016). They also are not taught of the
dangerous chemicals and toxins that are released from the electronics as they are broken down
(Watchdog Group 2016). Again, this is the reason why sellers and producers are sending people
s old devices to these countries. Especially when regarding safety, the devices that go to Ghana
are just piled up in mounds where older kids dump chemicals on them to try and recover the
inside materials to sell and make money (Ghana 2009). Yet again, they sadly do not know of the
toxic chemicals they are being exposed to. When a computer monitor is broken down the cathode
ray tubes are either broken or destroyed releasing toxic lead fumes to the people around it
(Watchdog Group 2016). These are reasons why we ship off our waste because it s too

How Is Lady Macbeth s Vaulting Ambition
Ambition is typically seen as a pathway to success, yet in the play Macbeth by William
Shakespeare, it is clearly evident that this is not always the case. As the play progresses, Macbeth
s overall aspirations in order to become king are continually tested. By looking at his overall
motives, the adverse choices which reshape his destiny, and the fatal conclusions based on his
insufficient decisions, we can clearly see how vaulting ambitions can be destructive rather than
beneficial. To begin, Macbethhas many motives which persuade him towards becoming king.

What Are The Arguments Made By Oscar Wilde
The general argument made by Oscar Wilde in his work The Importance of Being Earnest is that
education in England is flawed and produces no useful effect. More specifically, Wilde argues
that modern education is useless since it does not contribute to social status. He writes, The whole

no effect whatsoever (Act 1). In this passage, Wilde is suggesting that education can only be

conclusion, Wilde s belief is that education is worthless to people of higher class since it doesn t
provide any meaningful benefit. In my view, Wilde is right, because

Additionally, the NCAA agrees that sport teams with names and logos that demean Natives

A Rhetorical Analysis Of Hell House By Richard Matheson
Rhetorical Analysis Context and Reception Draft Hell House by Richard Matheson creates a
haunting story by utilizing not only the house and whatever it inhabits, but also the characters in
order to cause transgression in the story for the reader as well as highlight how horror can come
from many unexpected places. Matheson creates a horrifying setting with the history behind the
Belasco house and its past residents which causes an initial harsh reception from an indirect source
many would not expect. The book continues to do the least expected by creating many sexual
descriptions and scenes from the characters during times that don t seem normal and progressively
get more horrific. By the end of the story, Belasco, the man who was haunting the whole group, is
revealed to be the least menacing character to show how the horrific actions can come from just

Fischer describes how in the house, debauchery became the norm (20), and so did, brutality and
carnage (20). Debauchery, brutality, and carnage are not usually what most people will associate
with being normal. Fischer then describes how later on the residents [delved] into mutilation,
murder, necrophilia, [and] cannibalism (21). This description just adds to the fact that the things
that went on in this house are from being normal. The history Matheson created for the house
makes it cross the boundaries most people have and that is not including the fact that the house is
now also a home to evil spirits. Some might even feel that the history behind the house is more
haunting than the house itself. Matheson does this in order to show that a haunting does not only
result from ghosts and spirits, but can come from almost anything. Even just a brief history of

Adrienne Rich s Of Woman Born – The End of Motherhood Essay
Of Woman Born The End of Motherhood
In Of Woman Born, Adrienne Rich effectively weaves her own story into a convincing account of
what it means to become a mother within the bonds of patriarchal culture. Her conclusion that the
institution of motherhood, which she distinguishes from motherhood, must be destroyed in order to
release the creation and sustenance of life into the same realm of decision, struggle, surprise,
imagination, and conscious intelligence, as any other difficult, but freely chosen work is
substantiated by her courageous confession that contradicts culturally normative notions of
motherhood.

because [she] felt [her] own needs acutely and often expressed them violently (32) by raging at her
children out of frustration, provides a credible offering to break down an institution that makes
women like her angry. It also demonstrates some of the ways in which motherhood has not been
women s choice.
A reader might be stunned to consider that was written just twenty years ago and that Rich s first
pregnancy happened only forty three years ago, since her choices as an educated woman were
so limited compared to now. When her account of feeling like she was only acting as a woman
(having no idea what she wanted, and having a child because it was expected of a real woman )
is introduced, her lack of choices reads like either a dismal Margaret Atwood science fiction novel
or a scene from the very long ago past. Similary, when Rich cites her example of a primitive
attitude by quoting a doctor s medical opinion that women are psychologically unbalanced when
they attempt to resist the demands of the institution [of motherhood], (263) it is quite surprising to
realize that this opinion was written in 1967, a mere thirty years ago. In this way, Rich s story is a
tribute to all women who have fought her battle, the battle to have the freedom to choose
motherhood.
Rich must feel a deep sense of satisfaction in realizing that articulating her struggles has helped
many women. Her capacity to transcend her own circumstances is truly remarkable

Stonehaven Case Analysis Essay
Stonehaven, Inc.
Case Analysis
March 19, 2013
Part A
For this part of the analysis, consider each department in the Gdansk factory in isolation. Assume
that the rest of the production system has no impact on the department you are considering. Assume
that material handling times are negligible and ignore variability in processing times.
1. For the typical 100 pair batch, what is the daily capacity and manufacturing lead time within each
of the following departments?
a. Cutting
8 hrs/day x 60 min/hr = 480 min/day
Machine 1 = (0.05 x 4)(100) + (5.25 x 4) = 41 min/batch
Machine 2 = (0.05 x 4)(100) + (5.00 x 4) = 40 min/batch
Machine 3 = (0.04 x 4)(100) + (4.00 x 4) = 32 min/batch
Manufacturing Lead Time (MLT)... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, the time given is the time it takes to stamp 1 of the 4 components on one machine.
Another assumption I have made is the workers performing the stitching are all equally paced. It
takes each worker the exact same amount of time to perform their duties and pass the product along
to the next group.
Part B
Now consider the factory as a system, and take into account interactions between the departments.
3. Assuming production is done in 100 pair batches, what is the factory s daily capacity?
Cutting 41 min/batch
Stitching 133 min/batch
Lasting 33.2 min/batch
Capacity of the Factory = 480 min/day Г· 133 min/batch = 3.6 batches/day
4. What is the total MLT for a 100 pair batch?
MLT
Cutting= 41 min/batch
Kitting= 10 min/batch
Stitching= 133 min/batch
Steaming= 6 hrs x 60 min = 360 min/batch
Lasting= 33.2 min/batch
TOTAL MLT= 577.2 min/batch
Part C
5. How would you go about deciding the appropriate batch size for the Stonehaven factory? What
factors would you consider? How do they interrelate? (You may wish to do some calculations, but
concentrate on thinking conceptually.)
6. Focus only on your highest priorities for improving the production process at Stonehaven s
Gdansk factory (be specific). Explain why they are important. What actions do you recommend?
How would you implement your recommendations? What do you predict will be the consequences?

Essay On Christmas Tree Fires
Tis the season for Christmas trees to take their annual places in our homes. And as we all know,
Christmas trees are meant to be cheery, not charred. However, that s not always the case.
Between 2010 and 2014, Christmas tree fires caused an average of six deaths per year, 16 civilian
injuries and $16.2 million in direct property damage, according to data from the National Fire
Protection Association.
Although these occurrences are rare only an estimated 210 happen each year in the United States

or more. Afterward, the tree should suffice on just one or more quart a day. Remember: A well

feet between it and any heat source, including fires, radiators, heat vents or candles, and ensure it

When lighting a tree, be sure to only use lights with labels saying they were tested in an
independent laboratory such as UL or ETL/ITSNA, according to the Christmas Tree Association.
Check to make sure none of the lights have frayed cords, loose connections or broken bulbs
because electrical or lighting issues are the main cause of Christmas tree fires. Turning off tree
lights before going to bed is also recommended.
And when the needles start to drop on a live Christmas tree, it s time to say goodbye because dried
out trees are a fire danger and should not be left in the home or outside against the home, according
to the NFPA. The organization recommends disposing it through a local recycling program rather

Dentures Are Made Essay
What Dentures are Made Of
Despite the many advancements in dentistry, a lot of people still lack some or all of their teeth.
This results not only in the decreased ability to chew and digest food properly, but also in
speaking. When you loose your teeth, your facial muscles sag, giving you a much older appearance.
Imagine the impact this will make on your confidence and on the relationships you have with others.
Fortunately, there are ways to get your teeth and your smile back. Unlike in the past when tooth loss
was replaced with animal teeth and pieces of animal bone and later porcelain, ivory and platinum
there are now different tooth replacement methods like dental bridges, dental implants and, of
course, dentures.

Acrylic. This is a type of resin that is used for making replacement teeth. Previous acrylic resins
looked unnatural, but modern acrylic teeth are now more natural looking than before, not to
mention stronger. Acrylic teeth resist chipping and staining better than porcelain teeth, and do not
make a clicking sound. Because acrylic teeth are lighter, those who have them experience less
issues with speaking and keeping them in place. Acrylic teeth are less likely to develop fractures or
break, so it is advisable for partial dentures that would come in contact with natural teeth.
Like their porcelain counterpart, acrylic teeth also have disadvantages. For one, acrylic teeth are
more susceptible to abrasion. This means that the more you use them, the more they will wear
down. Some complain that their food sticks more readily to their acrylic teeth, and that acrylic
teeth do not grind food as well as porcelain teeth do.
Acrylic resin is also used for making the mounting frame which seats the teeth and hold them in
place while you chew. Plates made of acrylic resin are ideal for dentures needing artificial
gumlines, as acrylic can be tinted to resemble natural gum

Toys Are an Influence Essay
Watery eyes, flaring nostrils, flailing limbs, and the temper of a furious bull, your child is having
a horrendous tantrum. Even though you ve taught them morals and positive values, this seems to
recurring issue. There is one question all parents must ask themselves, What kind of outside
influences am I allowing my child to govern themselves with on a daily basis? These days, boys
and girls alike face the incessant impact of society in their social, intellectual, emotional, and
behavioral lives. This influence starts at a young age with the toys and games our little tykes

CBS News suggest that parents choose toys for their toddlers and preschoolers that teach skills
because a young child s brain will grab hold of these permanent marks and carry through with
them all the way to adulthood. (Halter) These playthings not only teach skills, but confidence,
because they learn to enjoy accomplishing any task they face. Many say educational toys are the
best way to go because it stimulate tools a child will use throughout their schooling. Some toys
have a powerful influence on children s thinking, interaction with peers, and creative expression.
(Prof. Trawick Smith) The environment around a child has an incredible impact on their
development. From a home setting, to a park setting to a school setting a child is constantly
learning. Many studies have been done to determine how individual toys can affect a child
because it is important for parents and educators to be informed. Even though many adults have
their own idea of what is a good instrument for their child s growth, research and test can help
point the way. We code children s use of the toys in the areas using a coding instrument that we
have developed: thinking/ learning/ problem solving, social interaction, and creativity. (Prof.

important, and should be chosen as carefully as the curriculum for the students. ... ninety percent of

places where nutrients are limited. It can cause a range of infections from pneumonia to the most
serious cystic fibrosis. P. aeruginosa can form a biofilm that allows the bacteriato form a resistance

The Psychoanalysts of Violence Essay
The film Battle for Algiers can be analyzed thoroughly through Frantz Fanon s and Hannah Arendt s
polar opposite theories on violence. The implication of both theories is represented in the film that
has captured the understanding of both insightful phenomena. Fanon s views on violence are it
unifies individuals into forming a complex unit organism that works together, rinses, in addition it
is presented as an effective and productive mean that support the process of decolonization. In
contract, Arendt s theory detaches the concept of violence from power and emphasizes that the
driven reasons for violence is anti political. Both philosophers present distinctive theories upon the
use of violence; Fanon elucidates his philosophy on... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hannah Arendt was regarded as one of significant and persuasive political philosophers of the 20th
century. While as her theories contradict fanon s, her philosophical theory apposes the
naturalization acts of violence, entailing its human nature. Arendt (1969) claims that a society that
acts on violence is a society that lacks power; in her view, force (violence) and power should not
be regarded as one in the practice of politics (1969). In addition, Arendt explains violent revolutions
are destructive and therefore its results are uncontrollable and has negative outcomes for
humankind. In views of change, revolution must accomplish core changes in process of
decolonization that is logical and relating. The fundamental opposition for resorting to violence as
a mean to produce change is the neutralization of violent revolutions as an effect of resorting to it
as a strategic procedure to claim change and justice, this results in preparing the society to act and
be totalitarianism. Moreover, the knowledge and belief that man knows his specified goal is
ultimately good is resulted by his ideology that categorizes it as good, owing to it s part of human
nature, or god s will; Arendt theory believes that religious extremist and violent revolutionaries
contribute to justify immoral procedures to claim their ends (1969). The only real revolution that
Hannah Arendt agrees with Fanon is the justification of the

Time Capsule History
In 1795 Paul Revere and Samuel Adams placed in the cornerstone of the Massachusetts
Statehouse a time capsule. It was a small box, an inch and a half deep and about half the size of a
piece of printer paper. Two hundred and twenty years pass neighborhoods are built, colleges,
schools, churches; the Civil War, and its draft riots, begin and end. Flight is conquered; the
automatic rifle is invented the typewriter, telegraph, television, and the computer soon follow.
Awash with war, the twentieth century sees the fall of empires, large and small, and the
development of the atomic bomb. The Olympic Games, Watergate, Harry Potter, 9/11. Two and a
quarter centuries after Revere and Adams laid the small box in a stone in the capitol of the 6th state,

It must have caught the plumber by surprise to find a ten pound time capsule from the first years of
the United States. Lodged tightly in stone, it took workers seven hours to remove the box, and
before a special ceremony held for the opening, another four to loosen the screws holding it fast.
Wearing protective gloves, members of the historical society found newspapers, coins, and even a
rectangular silver plate engraved by Revere himself inside the capsule. The contents of the box
were well preserved, and they provided a rare and candid glimpse at our not so distant past. The
Samuel Adams and Paul Revere Time Capsule is to this day the oldest time capsule to have been
discovered in the United States, and since 1795, certainly, the time capsule craze has exploded, and
with good reason.
People have always found the idea of time fascinating. We all want to be here in one way or
another William E. Jarvis states in Time Capsules: A Cultural History. That s why some of us (try
to) freeze ourselves alive to be thawed and revived in the era of our choice. That s why people
construct crypts, time bombs, time capsules, and cornerstone deposits, he goes on to say. To some
degree, all people connect through a fascination with time. What will it be like in the future? What

The Legacy Of College Admissions
College admissions are simple. They check your GPA and ACT/SAT test scores and see if your
scores match their expectations. If you do, they will take you. If you don t, they will reject you.
What about if your score is in the middle? What if you don t quite meet their expectations, but
you don t really fall below them? Legacy is like a tiebreaker or the cherry on top of the cake, but
currently is a very controversial topic. Being a legacy student can cause a significant impact on the
admission process. It also gives you a huge advantage over non legacy students. Being a legacy
student has the potential of getting you admitted into the collegethat you want, even if you don t
meet all the requirements. UW should take legacy into... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not that universities and colleges only do this for money, they also do this for tradition, better
reputation, loyal students, and an overall appreciation for the college of the university.
Having legacy students at the institution will greatly benefit UW by receiving donations from
them. With colleges and universities becoming businesses, the high rate of monetary support by
legacies and their parents is viewed as crucial for that institution to be financially sound and
successful. Moreover, over three quarters of legacies have a parent with a high status occupation,
compared to about 62% of students with college degree parents and less than one third of students
with no degree parents. This means that the parents of legacy students are usually wealthier than
non legacies. This also means that with wealthier parents, the chance of a donation or donations to
that college or university is most likely to substantially increase. Moving on, legacies arrive on
campus forming a distinct status group that is characterized by an abundance of economic, cultural
and social capital. With economic capital, they are more likely to participate in activities and spend
more money. And it is what colleges or universities desire, more money. By partaking in college or
university activities, the student will grow fonder of it later on and might donate to support the
institution. In the

The Concept Of Reliability Within Measurement
The concept of reliability within measurement is often debated amongst health professionals, as it
is crucial to the recording of physiological improvements in active and passive range of motion
(ROM). In particular, different techniques such as observation, goniometry and inclinometry are
utilised in clinical settings to determine the ROM for elbow extension. It is noted that, reliable
methods are fundamental for providing quantitative relationships and an understanding of
musculoskeletal impairments.
Often overlooked, reliability is essential for the recognition and consequently the diagnosis of
abnormal elbow extension within physiotherapy. In particular, the diagnosis of impairments and
diseases such as septic arthritis, ulnar nerve entrapment, (Philippou, Maridaki Bogdanis, 2003)
osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis (Bucala, 2011) affect a patient s elbow extension. Thus,
measurement methods during diagnosis must be accurate and reliable. In regards to patient
progress, the effectiveness of treatments can be recorded quantitatively with measurement. Thus, it
follows that a lack in reliability would dramatically compromise the integrity of elbow extension
measurements. It is argued that all measurements must be reliable to ensure accuracy and the best
possible care for patients.
Considered a worldwide detriment, particularly in the elderly, osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis
are some of the most common reasons for seeking treatment with a musculoskeletal

The Startup s Unique Origin Story Your Startup s Unique Origin Story Can Be Your Most Marketable Asset Blood, sweat, tears ask the founder of any startup, and she ll tell you those are the building blocks which went into her company. She has toiled for months, even years to make this happen, often in some cramped space hidden away in the bowels of someone else s building. Dig a little deeper, and you begin to learn more about how the company started and what made its creator so passionate passionate enough to do the creating. If you re a consumer or an investor, however, you shouldn t have to dig for this origin story. It should be front and center in the startup s marketing campaign. Why Share Your Origin Story Your origin story is what sets you apart from your competition. Investors and consumers alike have choice no matter the niche, and as a startup, you are in a position to cultivate your own reputation. If your origin story has to do with social responsibility, like Warby Parker s, this lends to your credibility within your market. It never hurts to share your good karma. Did you meet in college and have been best friends for decades? Did you use your own guerilla marketing tactics to get off the ground? The story of Sara Blakely, her white pants, and her footless pantyhose has made the origin story rounds for years for good reason. • 3. My College Journey During my twelve years of school, I have grown accustomed to knowing the people and businesses in my city, and they knew me. I didn t realize it, but the comfortable environment of knowing my neighbors was limiting my emotional and social maturity. I did not have a reason to step outside the box, because I was in a place of comfort. As I embark on to this new college journey, I will face many challenges that will offer a fresh start, on beginning a new chapter of my life. There will be stumbling blocks towards transitioningto college life. These blocks involve meeting new people, being self sufficient, and adapting to my new environment. Although these challenges are difficult, I know there will be many lessons learned. These lessons will only build me as an individual mentally and socially. What I have learned during brief time at Xavier is that I am now willing to allow myself to fly in the winds of life. I say that because, all successful people have had to overcome their uncertainties. For instance, according to the article 10 Celebs Who Faced Their Fears on HuffPost, actress Sofia Vergara had to overcome her anxiety of Hispanic viewers forming a new perception of her in order to fully play her role as Gloria on the show Modern Family (Kuster) Another celebritywho had to defeat their fear is Bob Newhart (Kuster). To become the successful comedian that he is, Newhart had to vanquish his stage fright(Kuster). Like these successful individuals, I have some ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Advantages Of Agent Based Simulation 1.Introduction Since the development of economics as a science, the majority of economists have used analytical models to explain economics hugely based on mathematical principles. Starting from the basic theorem of equilibrium which is very easily developed using mathematical principles only, to the optimization techniques, which involves plain usage of derivatives and other mathematical principles, these techniques lack to make a whole model with many unknowns in order to derive to a complex set of results, in contrary to only one result working in certain assumptions that they offer. Even though most of the theorems we use today in economics derive from analytical methods, the need to make decisions or solve real economical issues nowadays ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Agent Based Modeling and Simulation One could simply ask, why use ABM or ACE? As mentioned in the section above, there are several reasons why using ABM has a sort of competitive advantages toward other analytical or statistical based methods. In ACE, the possibility to include a large number of agents in the model, all in distributed corporation, provides creating of a large scale system in order to observe micro or macro principles. This is quite hard and tedious to be accomplished even using econometric principles with the help of software program, due to the problem of biased results and limitation on the dependent variables. In the context of ACE, several experiments can be conducted with unlimited number of agents involved in the system. Secondly, ACE can be considered as a great software for any business who would like to make decision making more strategic based, and furthermore, increase its competitive advantage in the market, by simulation the same conditions of the actual current market, to a virtual world in a simple software. Thereby usage of ACE is not restricted to only research based works, but can be used as a competitive tool for any business as well. The traditional rules of forecasting or gaining competence in a business do not provide such advanced possibility to forecast and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Western countries send emissaries to explore and establish trade with native, but in that case same other attract on working people having come there to work and live and to government the country when they need. The word imperializem in my attention came as a domination by one country of the political, economic or cultural life of another country. We have to be clear with what happened in Africaand the region which represents a great rich country for materials and get attention of many European country for goods and wealth potential. Europian estabilished colonies in the African coastal region became more aggresive later on once they were expanding into other lands. We can see that in the names Africa s countries have under the colony. For example, the Belgian Congo instead of The Congo, Anglo Egypyian Sudan istead of Sudan, or German Southwest Africa Namibia insted of Namibi. Those countries have both Europian and African names which means that they belong and under which power rule they are. However, The African countries nowadays tried to take way the kind of patterns they have, but the Congo, Cameroonand Central African Republicare still suffering from the legacies of western imperialism. The Congo has a very interesting story behind it. The King of Belgium was given the Congo during the Berlin Conference. He used the Congo as a storage place for many of his possesions. This ... • 6. The Trade Of The Fur Trade The Fur trade flourished in the beginning of the 1600 s and prospered until the mid 1800. Some of the most valuable items in the fur trade consisted of hats and pelts made from beaver. But what caused the fall of the fur trade and why are furs and pelts no longer viewed as valuable as they were hundreds of years ago. The act of trapping and skinning the fur from wild game is a lost art form which still thrives in remote areas but not in most places like it did over 200 years ago. If the fur trade was never introduced to North America and the people who inhabited it, then the U.S. and Canadawould not be the countries they are today, and would not have developed the trading posts that existed along the entire Mississippi river, which allowed for new arriving Europeans to colonize. The fur trade all began between the Native Americans and the Europeans in the early 1500 s, the earliest amongst the Europeans being France. The French would offer the Native Americans goods such as knifes, kettles and other goods to establish a good relationship with the natives. The Native Americans began to give pelts in return, and this is where a huge demand for fur began by the Europeans. Before trade was done in the interior of modern day Canada, the French would arrive on shore and wait for the Native Americans to come to the shore to trade with them. After the voyage lead from Christopher Columbus, a French voyageur by the name of Samuel de Champlain, ended up in Northeastern Canada. He ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Evaluate the Role of Chemical Transmitters in Explaining Behavioural Disorders All behaviour is provided by the nervous system from a blinking eye to talking. Everything we do relies on the integration of numerous processes within the body, which is controlled by the nervous system (Atkinson et al. 1990). It wasn t until the late 19th Century with the development of stronger magnifying lenses and staining techniques that the nervous system could be looked at in detail (Wickens, 2005). The integrating units of the nervous system are specialized cells called neurons. There are approximately 1 billion neurons in a human brain. What makes them more astonishing is that each single neuron is connected with around 10,000 others (Wickens, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore Parkinson s disease, which is associated with a depletion of dopamine display behaviours characteristic of schizophrenia when given too much L DOPA, a dopamine stimulant (Gershon, Angrist, and Shopsin, 1977 as cited in Kalat, 1992). In addition if schizophrenics are given drugs such as L DOPA their symptoms are heightened. (Kalat, 1992). On the other hand there are problems with the dopamine hypothesis, as it suggests that schizophrenics have an excess of dopamine in their brains. Deakin, 1988, as cites in Wickens, 2005, found little evidence for this following post mortems of schizophrenics. However a number of studies have found that schizophrenics have an increase of dopamine D 2 receptors (Jaskiw and Kleinman, 1988 as cited in Wickens, 2005) therefore it may be that increased uptake by receptors is responsible rather than an excess of dopamine. This gives rise to cause and effect, as is the schizophrenia caused by an increased number of receptors or is the increased number of receptors a result of antipsychotic drugs. The main criticism of an imbalance of neurotransmitters being the cause of schizophrenia is the finding that antipsychotics block receptors within a day or two, although it takes several weeks for them to take full affect (Wickens, 2005). This suggests that the key factor in improvement is not the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. The Use Of Media And Media During The French Revolution Media and propaganda have helped establish free societies, overthrow governments, and incite wars throughout history. Revolutionaries utilized each to inspire and unite the populace during the French Revolution. Persuasive newspapers and pamphlets featured opinion pieces that convinced commoners of the drastic economic, social, and political changes needed to improve their quality of life, role in society and potential for social advancement. Revolutionaries used art in museums and mass distributed prints as propaganda to rally the masses with nationalistic themes of heroism, martyrdom and the power of the people. Music and festivals also contributed by infusing the masses with passion to unite against the monarchy and fight for the revolution. The use of media and propaganda in the French Revolutionsystematically distributed revolutionary ideas to the people and drastically altered the course of the movement. The French Revolution officially began in 1789, but the monarchy made a series of disastrous earlier decisions which created the perfect conditions for the movement to thrive and engulf the country in chaos. King Louis XVI dedicated funds to assist the American colonists in their fight for independence against the British. While the French succeeded in their goal, the war left France with a depleted treasury. Peasants became dissatisfied with the government after a series of droughts and poor harvests. In a society where one in four people suffer from a mental illness, it s disturbing to find that many of these people are children. Many of these children will never have the opportunity to live normally without being under the influence of a drug. These drugs are generally prescribed when a person is diagnosed with a mental illness such as Schizophrenia, Depression, or Attention Deficit Disorder. The sudden rise in number of mental illness diagnoses has led to a rapid increase in the number of prescriptions recommended to patients. Sadly, many of these patients are children who are diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and Depression. According to Erica Goode, studies indicate that pediatricians and child psychiatrists , are frequently leaning towards the use of psychotropic medication as the treatment of choice for an assortment of mental illnesses and disorders (Goode, Study Finds Jump in Children Taking Psychiatric Drugs ). This acknowledgement solidifies the unsettling norm of children taking prescription drugs daily in an effort to mask their behaviors. Instead of using numerous methods of teaching and parenting to counteract unpleasant or hyperactive behavior, professionals have now employed a different approach by using medicalization to treat emotional and behavioral problems (Mcleod et. al, 54). The problem with this approach is that the behavior is never actually addressed. Instead it s medicated causing children to become zombies or robots rather than living, breathing, human beings, with genuine thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. • 18. Documentary And Narrative Filmmaking What makes documentary filmmaking distinct to narrative filmmaking? There are a few contrasting objectives for both types of filmmaking that distinguishes them from each other. Simply put, narrative filmmaking is a movie with a pre written script, actors and a story which is already crafted before they start shooting. while documentaries are filmmaking where real life events are captured, and a script is usually written afterwards. Narrative films rely on the three act structure which goes Setup, Confrontation and Resolution or in other words, a beginning, middle and end. The main aim for the three act structure is for the story to develop while the stakes get risker for our characters, so they evolve as the movie goes on. Narrative film... Many believed it was to attack Bush who was running for re election in 2004 as the movie was due for release around the same time Bush began campaigning. The crux of the debate surrounding the film involved Moore s satirical styling. Some argued Moore tried too hard to make his movie entertaining and, in the process, would often distort pieces of information. (Bryd, 2017) This is yet another possible example of filmmakers showing the audience what they want to see and not the complete truth. While it is not proven that Moore did bend the truth, therefore it is nearly impossible to create a comprehensive code of ethics when making a documentary because Filmmakers can and sometimes will break the rules to show what they want to, be it to expose the truth or a personal ... Beforehand, I want to point out that returning to the author must not necessarily means to equate author and narrator simply (see Kumray 32f). In contrast to this, I more interested in revealing the rhetorical strategy that leads the readers to assume that the author speaks to them, and not a narrator ontological independent from him/her. Obviously, the easiest way to provoke this equation is that the author and the narrator share the same name (see Kumrey 43). However, information about the author that the readers have and can relater to the narrator lead likewise to identitify... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also, other sources to which Munro refers, namely the Blackwoods Magazine (I) and the The Minstrelsy of the Scottish Bard (I), reappear in No Advantages again (see Munro 19, 26). The narrator does exactly the same that the author announced in the foreword, including her remark about the reports on the ancestors that resemble stories. To select one arbitrary example, the author reports in the foreword that Walter Scott had visited her ancestor to gather Scottish ballads (Munro I). In No Advantages, the readers also encounter a narrative how Scott visits one of her ancestors (see Munro 21ff). Thereby, she changes from a homodiegetic I narrator to a heterodiegetic one, as she would tell a story: Walter Scott was an outsider of sorts, an Edinburgh lawyer now appointed to a high post in his familyВґs traditional territory. (Munro 21). However, she sometimes returns from the family narratives to her starting point as descendant who is keen to explore the life of her ancestors. For instance, the critique of her ancestor on ScottВґs way to present her ballads let her drawn following conclusion: Scots are like that. I think. My family was like that (Munro 22). . It seems that the readers bear witness how Munro collects her material to create on her family by reading how the narrator presents and reflects on the life of her Scottish ancestors since she sticks meticulously to the poetic agenda displayed in the foreword. Thus, the autobiographical pact is not only in force if she writes about her research in Scotland but also as she tells stories about the life of her ancestors. To begin with, the reader has no clue as to whether the main character is a boy or a girl. In my head though, I got the image of a girl. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Maybe it s simply a whole different world! She also uses many symbols, especially to express how love feels to the main character. The heart was dusty and tarnished and utterly empty . This shows the reader just how heart broken she was. Her heart hasn t felt real love in a long time, so it is dusty. It has been abused many times, so it is tarnished. And because of all this, it leaves her with nothing more than an empty space. Maybe the island that she says she went to for a year isn t really an island that she actually went to either. Maybe she just closed herself down mentally, unable to deal with the world with a broken heart. That could have felt to other people, as if she was actually away on an island. What seems to be pulling this story towards science fiction the most however, seems to be the fact that even though it s all clearly one big metaphor for getting your heart broken and mending it again, it s nowhere close to how reality is. Heartbreaks come in all shapes and sizes. But in real life you can t just go well, tough luck, she wasn t the one for me, so I m not going to be sad about it . Healing a broken heart takes time in the real, non fictional world. Just changing it like it s nothing, that s the real science fiction in the story. Rickitt (2006) explains that effects during the 80s were not just there to solve problems and producing impossible shots like their initial purpose but used as a marketing tool for films to promote themselves based on the quality of the image and amount of visual effects involved. Star Wars was the first filmto make use of this marketing tool and made people grow more interest on the film itself as well as the effects and of course, this brought more income to the studios. This trend of using effects to promote films was immediately picked up and abused, but it did not last long. Tron (1982) was the first film based almost entirely on computer generated scenery and massively advertised for them. However it ended up failing at the box office even though it had superb computer generated effects at the time of its release. Rickitt described that the failure of Tron could have been what made visual effects take longer to develop and being incorporated in films. This was the first sign that a film heavily equipped with effects does not mean that it would make a hit. Narrative is an important element of a film and effects cannot compensate for a bad narrative (McClean, 2007). This movement is called the Environmental Justice movement and its principle is for there to be an equal distribution of environmental goods and bads throughout the world (Robbins et al. 2014). Most people see developed countries dumping their electronic waste on weak and developing nations as an issue. It is supported by the Environmental Justice Principle that states that all environmental actions must be made free of any form of discrimination or bias (Delegates 1991). This major issue is both discriminatory and bias because the dumping of e waste onto weak and developing nations is not seen as socially acceptable and its bias due to developed countries thinking they can do based on the fact that developing nations do not cause as much pollution as they do. Another Environmental issue is the knowledge and regulations that workers in developing nations have were breaking down these old computer, televisions, cell phones, and other electronic devices. Currently workers in Hong Kong have no regulations or health benefits to protect them (Watchdog Group 2016). They also are not taught of the dangerous chemicals and toxins that are released from the electronics as they are broken down (Watchdog Group 2016). As the play progresses, Macbeth s overall aspirations in order to become king are continually tested. By looking at his overall motives, the adverse choices which reshape his destiny, and the fatal conclusions based on his insufficient decisions, we can clearly see how vaulting ambitions can be destructive rather than beneficial. What Are The Arguments Made By Oscar Wilde The general argument made by Oscar Wilde in his work The Importance of Being Earnest is that education in England is flawed and produces no useful effect. More specifically, Wilde argues that modern education is useless since it does not contribute to social status. He writes, The whole theory of education is radically unsound. Fortunately in England, at any rate, education produces no effect whatsoever (Act 1). In this passage, Wilde is suggesting that education can only be afforded by the wealthy and therefore royalty remain in power, and the poor remain uneducated. A Rhetorical Analysis Of Hell House By Richard Matheson Rhetorical Analysis Context and Reception Draft Hell House by Richard Matheson creates a haunting story by utilizing not only the house and whatever it inhabits, but also the characters in order to cause transgression in the story for the reader as well as highlight how horror can come from many unexpected places. Matheson creates a horrifying setting with the history behind the Belasco house and its past residents which causes an initial harsh reception from an indirect source many would not expect. The book continues to do the least expected by creating many sexual descriptions and scenes from the characters during times that don t seem normal and progressively get more horrific. By the end of the story, Belasco, the man who was haunting the whole group, is revealed to be the least menacing character to show how the horrific actions can come from just about anywhere and anyone.... The history Matheson created for the house makes it cross the boundaries most people have and that is not including the fact that the house is now also a home to evil spirits. Some might even feel that the history behind the house is more haunting than the house itself. It also demonstrates some of the ways in which motherhood has not been women s choice. A reader might be stunned to consider that was written just twenty years ago and that Rich s first pregnancy happened only forty three years ago, since her choices as an educated woman were so limited compared to now. When her account of feeling like she was only acting as a woman (having no idea what she wanted, and having a child because it was expected of a real woman ) is introduced, her lack of choices reads like either a dismal Margaret Atwood science fiction novel or a scene from the very long ago past. Similary, when Rich cites her example of a primitive attitude by quoting a doctor s medical opinion that women are psychologically unbalanced when they attempt to resist the demands of the institution [of motherhood], (263) it is quite surprising to realize that this opinion was written in 1967, a mere thirty years ago. In this way, Rich s story is a tribute to all women who have fought her battle, the battle to have the freedom to choose motherhood. The Concept Of Reliability Within Measurement The concept of reliability within measurement is often debated amongst health professionals, as it is crucial to the recording of physiological improvements in active and passive range of motion (ROM). In particular, different techniques such as observation, goniometry and inclinometry are utilised in clinical settings to determine the ROM for elbow extension. It is noted that, reliable methods are fundamental for providing quantitative relationships and an understanding of musculoskeletal impairments. Often overlooked, reliability is essential for the recognition and consequently the diagnosis of abnormal elbow extension within physiotherapy. In particular, the diagnosis of impairments and diseases such as septic arthritis, ulnar nerve entrapment, (Philippou, Maridaki Bogdanis, 2003) osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis (Bucala, 2011) affect a patient s elbow extension.
