Passover Religion
We don t usually think of Palm Sunday as a dangerous day. But it was for Jesus. And it is for us.
For Jesus, the Palm Sunday peril came both from without and from within. The external threat was
obvious.
Jesus had decided to make a public announcement of his true identity. For some time his disciples had
believed him to be the fulfillment of God s promise to send a Savior. But, until this moment, according
to Mark, Jesus had forbidden them to speak of him as Messiah. Now, it was time to go public.
Zechariah had prophesied that the Messiah would arrive riding on a donkey. And that, quite
intentionally, is how Jesus entered Jerusalem.
This messianic signal was especially dangerous because it coincided with the feast of
Passover. Passover, with its remembrance of the ancient ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

path blazed so successfully by Holiday Inn. In other words, this will be your basic no surprises church.
When Dad brings the family here, he can be sure that they won t be asked to speak in tongues, handle
snakes. Or encounter the wrong kind of people. Now, this is satire. But it is also uncomfortably
relevant. Focus groups can tell us how to orient ourselves successfully to cultural trends. And counter
trends. And they have done so impressively for churches where, today, there are four thousand or more
in attendance. But focus groups do not tell us how to orient ourselves to Jesus. MacChurch is inclined

Auteur Theory
The French New Wave movement was a catalyst in the advancement of the history of cinema, it
marked a watershed between the old ways of filmmaking and the birth of modern movies. Films from
the movement broke technical and visual boundaries that transcended French borders and time. Today,
filmmakers from all across the globe continue to utilize the techniques set in place by the influential
auteurs of the movement. Most notably, the works of the founding fathers of the French New Wave,
François Truffaut and Jean Luc Godard, hold an indelible impact on modern filmmakers such as Wes
Anderson. Specifically, Anderson s films Moonrise Kingdom and The Grand Budapest Hotel
exemplify the technical advances Truffaut and Godard used in their landmark ... Show more content

This concept became known as the Auteur Theory (Cook 350). New Wave directors implemented the
Auteur Theory to tell visually compelling stories from their own experiences and ideologies, such as
Truffaut s troubled youth or Godard s personal affiliations with Marxism and Maoism. Wes Anderson
on the other hand, uses his visuals, more specifically his unique use of color, to give greater and more
personal meaning to his films. In Moonrise Kingdom the recurring color yellow can be interpreted as a
symbol of youthful optimism while in The Grand Budapest Hotel, the only black and white scene in
the entire film is when the protagonist s mentor Gustave is shot and killed (Vreeland). Similarly,
Godard often experimented with color in some of his more political efforts. Red is a common color
found in Godard films, one that he uses schematically to pay homage to his native country of France,
but also in his attempt to symbolize his communist ties as seen in his films Pierrot le Fou and La
Chinoise. Anderson and Godard are aware of the importance of deliberate color schemes not only for
visual purposes, but in order to use the cinematic language to add dimension and subtlety to a

Metaphors In Pilgrim s Progress
The Metaphoricality of Pilgrim s Progress Pilgrim s Progress by John Bunyan is the third most sold
book in the English language. It has been read and loved dearly by people throughout the world, due
to the fact that it has been printed in over 200 languages and is considered the first novel in English. A
lot attributes to this popularity. The storyline, characters, and plot are all adventurous and easy to get
sucked into, leading to readers being unable to put the book down. However, the greatest strength this
book has is its use of metaphors and imagery. These two traits allow great storytelling and teach quite
a lot to readers everywhere. Pilgrim s Progress use of metaphors hints at real life through Christian s
temptations, Christian s burden, and even Christian himself. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The people besides Christian and a handful of others he meets such as Faithful and Hopeful are all
quite worldly, and seek to focus on themselves and their fleshly desires. Christian is tempted multiple
times to stray away from the path he was told to follow. Only once did he stray, because Mr. Worldly
Wiseman told him that there was an easier way to remove his burden. This would have led to his death
had Evangelist not turned him around. He also manages to overcome temptation by staying on the
path as well as remembering scripture and trusting in the Lord. Throughout the temptations, Christian
overcomes with the help of God. Christian s burden and the things surrounding it represent much. It is
the object that made Christian yearn for a better life and started him on his journey. It represents sin.
The Burden holds such a great weight on Christian that he seems to be unable to be freed of it. Yet, the
path to the Celestial City saves him from it. Christian is free from his burden after he gazes upon the
Cross and watches it roll away. The burden of sin is heavy, but the path of salvation helps rid all of

Problem Solving Instruction Questionnaire For Solving...
Problem Solving Instruction Questionnaire BFP2 Task 1 Bridget Clark August 21, 2016 A Written
Project Presented to the Faculty of the Teachers College of Western Governors University Introduction
Within mathematics instruction, strategies for solving basic operations are strong and systemic.
However, students in the intermediate grades struggle with finding and using reliable strategies for
solving word problems. The complexity of language that s used in a mathematical context makes it
difficult for students to have a confident approach. Therefore, research is being conducted on how
reading comprehension can be dove tailed with word problem solving in an elementary classroom.
The Problem Solving Instruction Questionnaire was designed to collect data from a range of teachers
to learn about math problem solving instruction in a variety of classrooms. This helped identify
effective approaches in teaching, to verify poor performance and lack of strategies with students, and
collect any other various input. The data would guide the mathematics intervention to be used and
planned. Research Topic A majority of current and incoming fourth grade students struggle with
solving word problems accurately. Students have difficulty with word problems mostly based on lack
of reliable strategies and poor language interpretation. While fact fluency may be present, the ability
to interpret vocabulary to guide computation leaves many students unable to construct

Humanity In The Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn
Gandhi stated that You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is like an ocean; if a few drops of
the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty. (Hardiman 1). Gandhi s proverb accurately
provides reasoning for why the novel Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is not trash. It showcases
humanity s ability to make positive choices, however there are few individuals that do not follow the
same amicable path. The author of the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Mark Twain, enables the
characters in his story to exhibit free will regardless of their ability to make negative or despicable
choices. The central protagonist, Huck, is capable of enacting upon positive decisions that benefit and

How Did Buddy Holly Influence Rock And Roll Music
During the late 1950s, Buddy Holly, one of the most influential rock n roll artists, was killed in a fatal
plane crash. He was an American singer and songwriter who produced some of the most distinctive
and influential work in rock music. The songs he co wrote and performed with his backing band the
Crickets remain as fresh and potent today as when recorded on primitive equipment in New Mexico
half a century ago: That ll Be The Day, Peggy Sue, Oh Boy, Not Fade Away. His influence on the
development of pop music was incalculable, particularly in the UK. Peculiarly, Holly and his
bandmates, Richie Valens and Big Bopper , were underrated in America and were questioned whether
they were the greatest loss to music. As Terry Grimley exclaimed,

A Proposal Response On Climate Change And 192 Countries
Recommendation
This policy memo response the People s Climate March held on New York, September 21, 2014, by
focusing on how to decrease New York s level greenhouse gas emissions by 80 percent by 2050 from
2005 levels . Despite the fact that 195 countries have become Parties to The United Nations
Framework Convention on Climate Change and 192 countries have signed the protocol , the climate
crisis has not been solved but accelerated. By introduction a new energy efficient standard in New
York City to both public and private buildings could largely relieve this intensified situation and help
sustain momentum from the People s Climate March. This new proposal will transform New York
City into an eco friendly city with less greenhouse gas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Big cities like New York with dense popularity should be extremely concerned about this phenomenon
by introducing new feasible energy saving proposal to mollify this challenge.
One of the main solution is to decrease or maintain the same greenhouse gas (GHG) emission level for
temperature control. Since nearly three quarters of the GHG in New York City is emit from buildings ,
targeted project aim at renew existing low energy efficiency building and expand more new clean
energy technology in both public and private housing. The new plan named New City, Built to Last
should be activate to transform New York City s Buildings for a Low Carbon Future . With this
affordable project, every citizen could enjoy the benefit of an advanced low carbon city, improving the
public health in long term. Moreover, the new plan will generate large amount of addition job
positions to better boost the economy.
To better analysis the effect of this new plan, a stakeholder map is illustrate below, by placing each
stakeholder in their position.
The most affected group will be residents living in New York which could be grouped by low income,
middle income and high income residents. The low income residents tend to have negative attitude
since they pay a higher share of their rent for energy than wealthier residents, and often live in less
efficient buildings. An

The Chevrolet Volt Adventure
The second chapter of the Chevrolet Volt adventure is about to begin. Fans of this hybrid electric
vehicle have been keeping a close eye on all things Volt, learning early on the new model has a lower
price and is more efficient than the first generation vehicle. This week, the EPA confirmed that the
2016 Chevrolet Volt provides a 53 mile electric range, leading to a nearly 40 percent longer range on a
single charge.
Range is the be all and end all of EV driving. Although the Volt has a 1.5 liter power generator to
provide fuel to run the electric motor when the battery is depleted, most buyers want prefer to rely on
low cost electricity only. Not only is electricity cheaper than gasoline, but when operating in EV mode

Planned right, a Volt owner could travel more than 1,000 miles before needing to stop at a fueling
station again provided that they regularly charge the vehicle.
Five model years after releasing the first generation Chevrolet Volt, GM is applying other changes that
will enhance the ownership experience.
Indeed, the new Volt will better utilize the electric motor when driving. In the first generation model,
the 111 kilowatt traction electric motor operated independently of the 55 kilowatt gasoline generator.
The new model allows the Voltec power system to use both motors concurrently under certain driving
circumstances. It also relies on a 75 kilowatt gasoline generator to deliver more power as needed.
Regular Grade Gasoline Okayed
Overall fuel efficiency is up too. The first generation Volt achieved 37 mpg. The second generation
model is EPA rated at 42 mpg. Where the first generation model required premium fuel, the all new
Volt takes regular grade gasoline. That alone will enable customers to save at least 10 percent at the

Consequences Of Texting And Driving
Wouldn t you agree that texting and driving is a big issue nowadays? Many drivers are so caught up in
their phones that they risk their lives and the lives of others just so that they could answer a simple
text message. Now that this problem is becoming so big, it should have severe consequences. People
who text and drive should get license suspension for six months and get $500 for the first violation
and $1000 for the second violation. People who text and drive can hit or even kill pedestrians because
of being distracted by their phones and not paying attention to the road. In the course of five years, the
national number of pedestrians who were killed or hit by distracted drivers increased from 344 to 500
people. If you think about it, many of those people who died could have been young children or
elderly people who didn t have a fault, but because of someone being so inconsiderate using their
phone, they killed these people. In 2015, 5,376 pedestrians were killed because of drivers who were
too busy texting. All those pedestrians who were killed did not think that because of walking
somewhere they would be killed by someone so distracted who didn t have the capacity to make sure
that the road was clear for them to keep driving. If this problem had further consequences, then many
of the people who died wouldn t be dead right now. Most of the drivers who end up killing someone or
getting killed by someone on their phone are usually teens. Eleven teens die every day as

A Technical Analysis of Ergonomics and Human Factors in Modern Flight Deck Design
I. Introduction Since the dawn of the aviation era, cockpit design has become increasingly
complicated owing to the advent of new technologies enabling aircraft to fly farther and faster more
efficiently than ever before. With greater workloads imposed on pilots as fleets modernize, the reality
of he or she exceeding the workload limit has become manifest. Because of the unpredictable nature
of man, this problem is impossible to eliminate completely.
However, the instances of occurrence can be drastically reduced by examining the nature of man, how
he operates in the cockpit, and what must be done by engineers to design a system in which man and

They will be discussed in further detail in another chapter (Hawkins, 249 54).
III. System Design A design team should support the concept that the pilot s interface with the system,
including task needs, decision needs, feedback requirements, and responsibilities, must be primary
considerations for defining the system s functions and logic, as opposed to the system concept coming
first and the user interface coming later, after the system s functionality is fully defined.
There are numerous examples where application of human centered design principles and processes
could be better applied to improve the design process and final product. Although manufacturers
utilize human factors specialists to varying degrees, they are typically brought into the design effort in
limited roles or late in the process, after the operational and functional requirements have been defined
(Sanders McCormick, 727 8). When joining the design process late, the ability of the human factors
specialist to influence the final design and facilitate incorporation of human centered design principles
is severely compromised. Human factors should be considered on par with other disciplines involved
in the design process. The design process can be seen as a six step process; determining the objectives
and performance specifications, defining the system, basic system design, interface design, facilitator
design, and testing and evaluation of the system. This model

Scott s Miracle Gro Case Summary
Objective The objective of this study is to decide the best decision for Scott s Miracle Gro on whether
to outsource their production to china or stay in the Temecula plant in California. Factors such as
risks/benefits, and cost analysis will be considered in reaching an outcome onto what will be the best
option for Scott s Miracle Gro in order to maximize profit, efficiency, and long term growth.
Suggestions The best option for Scott s Miracle Gro is to stay in the United States. This will benefit
the company financially and will help keep the product quality standards high. However, some

A cost analysis has been performed for Scotts Miracle Gro using the location of Temecula, CA and the
estimated usage of 8,000,000 kWh s of electricity per year. It has been determined that by
implementing solar energy panels to offset 50% of the plants annual electricity usage, this will provide
the company with the following incentives (please refer to Exhibit 2 for the full cost analysis): An
average monthly savings of $559,600, An average 25 year savings of $279,660,603.33, A ROI of
215.82%, Only a 14.58 breakeven point, 30% Annual Federal Tax Credit, and The peace of mind
knowing that the company is helping offset their carbon emission to protect our diminishing
environment, also creating a good public image. Raw Materials Costs In 2006, Scotts Miracle Gro
spent $105.8 million in raw materials, a $28.3 million increase from 2005 (Supply Chain
Management, 155). Although this increase in raw material costs is partly attributed to price inflation,
Scotts Miracle Gro can implement new production processes to save in raw material costs. The most
predominant raw material used by Scotts Miracle Gro products is plastic resin. In order to save on
costs, the Temecula plant should find ways to reduce material input without changing the quality of
the product. Also, excess plastic resin should be recycled back into the production process. Not only
will this decrease the amount of raw materials used and wasted, but it will also help decrease the
disposal cost of used

Erik Erikson s Psychosocial Development Theory
The psychodynamic approach is predicated on a struggle between conscious and unconscious forces.
As with anything in life forces are always at battle affecting our psyche, development, and mental
health. Erik Erikson s Psychosocial Development theory outlines how environmental forces can either
foster a healthy development or cause maladaptive behaviors and development. Everyone has either
seen or heard the awful stories of children being mistreated to the point it hinders proper development,
and his theory helps to explain how to properly ensure a child, adolescent, or even adult has a healthy
chance at life. The theory has eight stages that span from infancy to death. The importance of which is

To preface, if a person doesn t successfully reconcile the conflicting sociocultural forces in the stage
they re in at the moment does not means there is no hope for the future development for that person; it
simply means not mastering that stage can cause future issues to arise from what each stage
represents. For example a child may have the best environment possible and go through each early
stage with success and then in early adulthood problems may arise that cause them to then not master
the stage there at. Does this mean that person is doomed? No, there is always ample time and
opportunity to access the psychosocial crisis at hand and either seek help for problems presented or
educate themselves as to the proper steps to assure that the next stage they reconcile the forces at
hand. Also, mastery of a stage is not dependent on whether a person can move forward in life, but it
may damper the timeline and cause any number of problems: from mental health issues, inferiority
complexes, guilt, or at worse not being able to face death with open arms and understanding. Erikson
was a Neo Freudian and was taught by Anna Freud, Sigmund s daughter. One can see how Erikson s
early stages of childhood reflect Freud s own personality development. Also, the fact that there is a

Callaway Golf Essay
THE MARKET
More than two decades ago, Ely Callaway set out to build a company that would bring more
enjoyment and game improvement to golfers of all skill levels. He accomplished much of that goal in
1991, introducing a technological wonder called the Big Bertha Driver. By creating in Big Bertha a
larger clubhead without adding weight, the late founder of Callaway Golf Company turned the most
feared club into the most loved almost overnight. The driver became the fastest selling club at retail.
Many innovations have followed. From woods, irons, and putters to golf balls and golf accessories,
Callaway Golf has consistently used ingenuity, quality construction, and technology to make the finest
premium products in the industry.

have been used to set several scoring records and win hundreds of tournaments. This success helped
Callaway Golf become the world s largest manufacturer of golf clubs within five years of the Big
Bertha Driver s launch, prompting major changes within the golf industry. Callaway Golf s success
enabled it to become the first major golf company to go public, as shares of company stock began
trading on the NewYork Stock Exchange in 1992, under the ELY ticker symbol.
HISTORY
Callaway Golf s success story begins with a small three person golf company called Hickory Stick
USA, which was founded in 1982 in Temecula, California. The company initially made wedges and
putters that had unique shafts constructed of hickory with a steel core. These clubs caught the eye of
Ely Callaway, who bought an interest in the company the following year. Mr. Callaway had already
been a successful businessman in the fields of textiles and wine, and golf would become the third and
most successful act in his entrepreneurial career. His business philosophy —that every

Van Gogh s Starry Night
In Vincent Van Gogh s Starry Night there are many aspects of the artwork that are symbolic of Van
Gogh s life struggles. It is easy for the viewer to assume that the aspects of Starry Night represent van
Gogh s time in the asylum, however, not all aspects represent his insanity and isolation. Starry Night is
van Gogh s representation of his biography inspired by his loss of faith, which can be seen and
supported by the symbols of the church and the stars. It is fair to say van Gogh was not in a good
emotional place when he painted Starry Night. On May 8th 1889, van Gogh entered the hospital of St.
Paul de Mausole at St. Rémy because of his mental instability. He did not leave for many weeks
therefore he was able to devote the majority of his time to his paintings. van Gogh painted Starry
Night in June between 16 18. The mountains are the ones he could see from his cell window but are
exaggerated to reflect this idea of another world or religion that he had connected with in the past
(Soth). According to James Elkins, van Gogh had very passionate, if not obscure, thoughts about how
his art worked as religion (Elkins 12). Many scholars can see the relationship but it is not evident to
the common eye. There is definitely a relationship that ties Starry Night to van Gogh s spiritual life,
but it is the loss of his spiritual life that influenced this piece of artwork. In Starry Night (figure 1)
there is a church that is not based off the church in the town of St. Rémy

Assignment On Steeple And Swot Analysis
Part 3: Critically analyse task 6, 7 and 9 from the workbook
Task 6 and 7: STEEPLE and SWOT analysis
Strategic analysis tools or strategic frameworks are developed to direct organisational tactics and
match faculty abilities with market chances so that the faculty can achieve a strategic planning and a
unified set of goals including continuing analysis and evaluation (Tomlinson, 2011). Most institutions
can adopt one or more strategic frameworks to drive faculty development by providing critical
external and internal factors using STEEPLE and SWOT analysis, respectively to formulate the
strategy. However, errors and potential limitations of strategic frameworks can occur, if organisations
have inabilities of managerial and administrative such as lack of skill and experience to create an
effective strategy (Tomlinson, 2011).
According to the STEEPLE analysis framework, this framework is used to categorise and determine
the factors of macro environment and external influences that may affect the performance of
organisations and future activities in both the short and long term (Grant, 2008). STEEPLE is an
acronym for social, technological, economic, environmental, political, legal and ethical considerations
so a strategic project team needs to analyse and identify the potential impact of these composing
factors such as changes, trends and movements in order to maximise efficiency of the organisation
(Jones Murray, 2008). Moreover, it requires a deeper knowledge and critical

Theory Of Planned Behaviour ( Tpb )
This study investigated whether or not CV lies can be predicted using the Theory of Planned
behaviour (TPB). It was hypothesized that participants perceptions of the frequency with which
managers check for CV lies (Control), as well as the judged seriousness of lies (Seriousness) and
participants perceived frequency with which others lie on their CVs (Social Norms) would be
predictive of both the frequency with which participants embellish their CVs with non serious lies, as
well as whether or not they engage in serious lies on their CVs. Additionally, it was hypothesised that
cultural differences due to nationality would be implicated in the incidence CV lies. In other words,
that Brazilian participants would report lying more on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nevertheless, it was found that Seriousness predicted whether or not participants have ever engaged in
SL. Nationality was also found to predict SL since there was a larger difference between the number
of liars and non liars among UK participants than between Brazilian participants; however, this last
result is to be interpreted with caution. The main difference between TPB and its predecessor, called
the Theory of Reasoned Action, is the addition of a third predictor to the theory, namely Perceived
Behavioural Control, on top of Attitude and Social Norm predictors which was already present in the
former theory. However, according to Ajzen (2005 p.111) the concept of behavioural control poses
difficulties of conceptualisation. According to the author, this difficulty lies in the fact that it is not
always evident what will constitute actual control over a behaviour, and how to assess it. In this study,
the conceptualization of the perceived frequency with which managers check CVs lies (Control) as a
measure of TPB s Behavioural Control was not predictive of both the frequency of NSL, or whether or
not participants have ever engaged in SL. As mentioned earlier in this paper, there are no immediate
physical barriers preventing job seekers from blatantly lying on their CVs. The only plausible barrier
would occur when employers screen CVs for discrepancy, with consequences ranging from
eliminating the candidate from the

Reflection Of A Watcher In The Classroom
For this lesson I started with having the students gather in the library in order to read the story to them.
The students have a word watcher that they use when they are reading their books. The word watcher
is a plastic candy cane and I used that for this lesson to activate prior knowledge. I held up the candy
cane and asked the students what they see. I had some students comment that there is a red strip on the
candy cane. The students also noticed a white strip, and then they noticed that the red and white create
a pattern. I asked where is the pattern on the candy cane, and they showed that the red and white strips
move continually up the candy cane, it just continues in a swirling motion. The students also

them get out their scissors and liquid glue. Once the students had everything out, I told them to hold
their hands up so I could see that they were ready. I used this classroom management strategy so that I
could clearly see who was ready. I had created a candy cane so that I could do the activity with the
students so they could clearly see what needed to be done. I started by having the students cut the red
strips. It was interesting to see how students did this. Some would cut straight across, and some
students would have cuts that were slanted. As the students were cutting I was walking around and
was commenting and how their candy canes were looking so far. I had the students place all the red
pieces on the white candy cane. Once most students were finished I told them to take off every other
red strip. I told the students that it is really important for the element of space that you leave the red
pieces where they where. This will add the element of line into our candy cane. After that I had the
students glue down the pieces. Once the pieces were glued on I had the students take the brown square

Communication Journal Entry
Journal Entry 4
Perhaps there is nothing more important than understanding how we communicate if we want to
ensure that we are able to convey our ideas and intent to people across a wide variety of cultures in a
wide variety of settings. Thus, it is vital for me to understand my verbal communication style if I want
to be an effective speaker. After our Encounters class on verbal communication, I was able to better
understand how I communicate with others. I realized that being brought up in a low context culture,
in addition to the fact that I was an immigrant, has made me to be more explicit in my words than
implicit. More often than not, when I communicate, I will try to verbally indicate as many details and
instructions as possible. Conversely, I have difficulty communicating with people who are more
implicit in their verbal communication style if I m not familiar with the culture or slang, I might
interpret their message more literally. Furthermore, when I communicate, I feel as if I don t consider

not contributing to some sort of group project, I will tell that person that they are not doing their part

Mursi Woman
1) The Mursi woman talks about what she thinks is beautiful, which among other things involves
removing her eyelashes and undergoing other facial modifications. Many Europeans and North
Americans would not necessarily find these things beautiful. How do you explain those differences in
perspective?
The difference in perspective can be explained by how the people grew up. Growing up in America,
young girls have seen their moms and other women in their life wearing makeup such as eyeshadow
and mascara to bring out their eyes. Consequently, the girls believe that they will be beautiful if they
wear eyeshadow and mascara also. Likewise, few people in America wear facial piercings and
ornaments like the ones seen in the video. Consequently, people in America do not wear them as it is
not seen as normal to do so. Simply, the differences ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Do you think the Mursi show the Europeans their authentic culture?
Since the people in this village dress just for show when the tourists come, they likely enjoy having
the tourists around. The woman is clear when she says she doesn t care if what she wears is not
customary, they simply want to please the tourists so that they will take photos. They are likely as
fascinated with the tourists as the tourists are with them.
The Mursi woman and her village are not completely showing the tourists their authentic culture as
the woman makes it evident that they dress in an almost completely different way when the tourists
come. However, they in part are still showing the visitors their culture as they cannot change things
such as how their homes are built and what they do for work simply because people are coming to
visit. Part of their culture must shine through no matter how hard they

Aristotle Falling Body
Free fall sets back to the times of the Aristoles. During that time Aristotle had the idea that more
heavier object would fall faster than objects that weigh less. He came up to this conclusion due to
examining a rock, and a feather, and saw how the rock fell faster, While the feather took a longer time
than the rock to hit the ground. After quite sometime, there was a clear explanation that Aristotle was
incorrect with his hypothesis.
As proof, take a basketball and a piece of paper. Drop them simultaneously from the same height... do
they land at the same time? Probably not. Now take that piece of paper and crumple it up into a tight
ball and repeat the experiment. Now what do you see happen? You should see that both the ball and
the paper land at the same time. Therefore you can conclude that Aristotle s predictions did not
account for the effect of air resistance. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During that, Galileo realized that air resistance affects the motion from a falling body. Which that
leads to where the idea of him thinking what would happen if the effect of air resistance was removed.
Since Galileo s experiments, scientists have come to a better understanding of how the gravitational
pull of the Earth accelerates free falling bodies. Through experimentation it has been determined that
the local gravitational field strength (g) on the surface of the Earth is 9.8 N/kg, which further indicates
that all objects in free fall (neglecting air resistance) experience an equivalent acceleration of 9.8 m/s2

How Far Does the Poet Want Us to Sympathize with Miss Havisham?
The poet wants us to sympathized Miss Havisham greatly, but not entirely. Her own trappings of her
strong need to revenge and her morbid existence that has destroyed her carries a symbolic meaning of
self absorption and destruction. This poem introduces us to Miss Harvisham s character, who has
become a type of embittered woman who was disappointed in love and enjoys withdrawing from the
world.
First of all, this poem is written in a first person s point of view. She begins by telling the reader the
cause of her pain and suffering her beloved sweetheart bastard which gravitates into a sense of
bitterness and vengeance/retribution. In addition to that, the use of ... Show more content on

Overall, I really do sympathized Miss Havisham deeply, but I do criticise some of her actions. For
instance, I do not like the fact that she wants to inflict pain on others just because it is for her own
sake. By praying for someone to die and planning a revenge on someone is not the right way to solve a
problem. However, I do greatly pity her because of the phase she is going through. It is not easy
getting over someone.
In conclusion, the poet wants us all to sympathize her greatly, but only to a certain extent. We
commiserate her for her peculiarity and her self indulgence, but her sullenness and vindictiveness
make us feel that she is a very vivacious and debauched

CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION
BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
Prior to the liberalization of the telecommunication sector of Ghana s economy, the mobile telephony
sector of the economy was non existent. The only telecommunication service available to the populace
was limited fixed lines provided by the Ghana Postal and Telecommunication Corporation (GP
amp;T), which had a monopoly. The rate of access to phone in homes was 3 phones per 1,000
inhabitants and its distribution was skewed in favour of urban dwellers especially those in Accra. This
led to the springing up of communication centers which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most of the strategies are geared towards dominating the market. Whilst some over adopted the
strategy of innovation (a leaders), others have adopted the strategy of copying what others have done
(follower). Meanwhile others have also adopted the strategy of being a challenger and nicher.
OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY
A close observation of the mobile telephony sector of Ghana reveals the looming of a heightened
competition, the research therefore seek to address following; 1. To examine competitive environment
of the mobile telephony sector? 2. Identify and analyze the strategies the various mobile operators
adopted in the wake of tight competition? 3. To examine the impact of these strategies on customer
satisfaction, retention and loyalty?
The purpose of this research is to understand the impact of the tight competition witnessed over the
past few years has on mobile operators and their customers and how customers have reacted to this
phenomenon. In my opinion the tight competition which has resulted in a price war between these
mobile operators goes to the benefit of mobile customers who have been underserved for long.
SIGNIFICANCE OF STUDY
The focus of this research is on the impact of the marketing strategies adopted by mobile operators in
Ghana on their customers which makes it importance to individuals, the players in the market, and
corporate entities. Aside adding to the

cultures, also increasing the knowledge of countries, cultures, and history (Central Department of

The positive impacts of tourism include the economic and socio culture impact on the Jamaican
society. Tourism increases employment opportunities. Additional jobs, ranging from low wage entry
level to high paying professional positions in management and technical fields, generate income and
raise standards of living. Particularly in rural areas, the diversification created by tourism helps
communities that are possibly dependent on only one industry. As tourism grows, additional
opportunities are created for investment, development, and infrastructure spending. Tourism often
induces improvements in public utilities such as water, sewer, sidewalks, lighting, parking, public
restrooms, litter control, and landscaping. Such improvements benefit tourists and residents alike.
Likewise, tourism encourages improvements in transport infrastructure resulting in upgraded roads,
airports, public transportation, and non traditional transportation (e.g., trails). Tourism encourages new
elements to join the retail mix, increasing opportunities for shopping and adding healthy
competitiveness. It often increases a community s tax revenues. Lodging and sales taxes most notably
increase but additional tax revenues include air travel and other transportation taxes, business taxes,
and fuel taxes. New jobs generate

Persuasive Essay About Handwriting Essay
Children should learn handwriting in general, but most importantly learn how to write cursive. The
problem that is getting in the way of children learning handwriting is computers and the advanced
technologies that prevent us from practicing our own personal hand. Many schools such as Flint s
Carpenter Road Elementary School received a grant that gave them free computers, and TV s for their
classroom. This school, like many others is now focusing on teaching children to type and computer
skills they will need later on. Although typing is good to know, there are many downsides and faults to
this seemingly innovative and progressive skill. Many children already stare at electronics for pleasure
when watching T.V. or on their own devices,

The Case Of The United States Constitution
When relating a historical document to a contemporary situation, context is integral to proper
analyzation. In the case of the United States Constitution, many political theorists share their opinion,
on what they believe to be, the optimal interpretation of the document, however, only Antonin Scalia s
originalist ideology repels personal and moral views during analysis and encourages understanding the
Constitution as originally intended. It is not the job of a United States judge, nor should it be the job of
one, to intervene their personal beliefs and morals with the law when making a judicial decision.
Instilling inappropriate factors in legal decisions causes potential inconsistency and, occasionally,
bias, both of which would set ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Heller allow for the examination of originalism being successfully implemented during supreme court
trials. A judge remaining impartial is crucial towards decisions made by a court. Although it may not
be apparent, non originalists tend not to be as truthful when enforcing the law than originalists since
they often involve outside morals or beliefs that do not pertain to the document itself. According to
Antonin Scalia, Non originalist opinions have almost always had the decency to lie, or at least to
dissemble, about what they were doing either ignoring strong evidence of original intent that
contradicted the minimal recited evidence of an original intent congenial to the court s desires, or else
not discussing the original intent at all, speaking in terms of broad constitutional generalities with no
pretense of historical support. The acquisition of a bias can sway the court s decision towards an
incorrect stance, thus, making it very important that non originalist views aren t involved in
Constitutional readings. Consistency in court ruling is also essential to a constitutional theory. Capital
punishment, although currently controversial, was a frequent consequence of murder in the late 1700s.
It is indirectly mentioned twice in the Constitution. First, it is mentioned in the 8th amendment of
article 7: ...nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted . Secondly, it is mentioned in the 14th
amendment of article 7: ...nor shall any State deprive any person

Ikea Essay
List the various ways in which IKEA has managed its global environment over time.
IKEA was founded by Ingvar Kamprad in 1943. Today IKEA is one of the largest furniture chains in
the world with three hundred and fifteen stores operating in twenty seven countries. IKEA has
managed its Global Environment in the three major ways which has contributed to its great success.
These ways are as follows:
1. Ingvar Kamprad was able to identify the changing trend in consumer wants and adapted his
products to these evolving needs. Consumers wanted well designed and well made furniture at an

IKEAs organizational culture and reputation is known around the world. The organization is built in a
culture of hearts and IKEA values; hard work, tough challenges and common sense. IKEA is built on
the philosophy that all stakeholders play a vital part in the company s success. The customer group of
stakeholders are provided with low cost furniture which meets their needs. Good customer service and
reliable products creates brand loyalty which results in customer satisfaction and repeat purchases.
Employees of IKEA are treated with respect and emphasis is placed in them being an essential part of
the organization. Employees are given training, above average pay and a generous bonus structure.
Promotions are given to employees who thrive in the company. (Jones, 2013)

  • 2. Passover Religion We don t usually think of Palm Sunday as a dangerous day. But it was for Jesus. And it is for us. For Jesus, the Palm Sunday peril came both from without and from within. The external threat was obvious. Jesus had decided to make a public announcement of his true identity. For some time his disciples had believed him to be the fulfillment of God s promise to send a Savior. But, until this moment, according to Mark, Jesus had forbidden them to speak of him as Messiah. Now, it was time to go public. Zechariah had prophesied that the Messiah would arrive riding on a donkey. And that, quite intentionally, is how Jesus entered Jerusalem. This messianic signal was especially dangerous because it coincided with the feast of Passover. Passover, with its remembrance of the ancient ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After test marketing various possibilities, I have decided upon the name Middle American Christian Church, or MacChurch for ad purposes. I will not be sure of MacChurch s theology until focus groups are run, but I plan on following the promotional path blazed so successfully by Holiday Inn. In other words, this will be your basic no surprises church. When Dad brings the family here, he can be sure that they won t be asked to speak in tongues, handle snakes. Or encounter the wrong kind of people. Now, this is satire. But it is also uncomfortably relevant. Focus groups can tell us how to orient ourselves successfully to cultural trends. And counter trends. And they have done so impressively for churches where, today, there are four thousand or more in attendance. But focus groups do not tell us how to orient ourselves to Jesus. • 3. Auteur Theory The French New Wave movement was a catalyst in the advancement of the history of cinema, it marked a watershed between the old ways of filmmaking and the birth of modern movies. Films from the movement broke technical and visual boundaries that transcended French borders and time. Today, filmmakers from all across the globe continue to utilize the techniques set in place by the influential auteurs of the movement. Most notably, the works of the founding fathers of the French New Wave, François Truffaut and Jean Luc Godard, hold an indelible impact on modern filmmakers such as Wes Anderson. Specifically, Anderson s films Moonrise Kingdom and The Grand Budapest Hotel exemplify the technical advances Truffaut and Godard used in their landmark ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This concept became known as the Auteur Theory (Cook 350). New Wave directors implemented the Auteur Theory to tell visually compelling stories from their own experiences and ideologies, such as Truffaut s troubled youth or Godard s personal affiliations with Marxism and Maoism. Wes Anderson on the other hand, uses his visuals, more specifically his unique use of color, to give greater and more personal meaning to his films. In Moonrise Kingdom the recurring color yellow can be interpreted as a symbol of youthful optimism while in The Grand Budapest Hotel, the only black and white scene in the entire film is when the protagonist s mentor Gustave is shot and killed (Vreeland). Similarly, Godard often experimented with color in some of his more political efforts. Red is a common color found in Godard films, one that he uses schematically to pay homage to his native country of France, but also in his attempt to symbolize his communist ties as seen in his films Pierrot le Fou and La Chinoise. Anderson and Godard are aware of the importance of deliberate color schemes not only for visual purposes, but in order to use the cinematic language to add dimension and subtlety to a ... It has been read and loved dearly by people throughout the world, due to the fact that it has been printed in over 200 languages and is considered the first novel in English. A lot attributes to this popularity. The storyline, characters, and plot are all adventurous and easy to get sucked into, leading to readers being unable to put the book down. However, the greatest strength this book has is its use of metaphors and imagery. These two traits allow great storytelling and teach quite a lot to readers everywhere. Pilgrim s Progress use of metaphors hints at real life through Christian s temptations, Christian s burden, and even Christian himself. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The people besides Christian and a handful of others he meets such as Faithful and Hopeful are all quite worldly, and seek to focus on themselves and their fleshly desires. Christian is tempted multiple times to stray away from the path he was told to follow. Only once did he stray, because Mr. Worldly Wiseman told him that there was an easier way to remove his burden. This would have led to his death had Evangelist not turned him around. He also manages to overcome temptation by staying on the path as well as remembering scripture and trusting in the Lord. Throughout the temptations, Christian overcomes with the help of God. Christian s burden and the things surrounding it represent much. It is the object that made Christian yearn for a better life and started him on his journey. It represents sin. The Burden holds such a great weight on Christian that he seems to be unable to be freed of it. Yet, the path to the Celestial City saves him from it. Christian is free from his burden after he gazes upon the Cross and watches it roll away. The burden of sin is heavy, but the path of salvation helps rid all of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Problem Solving Instruction Questionnaire BFP2 Task 1 Bridget Clark August 21, 2016 A Written Project Presented to the Faculty of the Teachers College of Western Governors University Introduction Within mathematics instruction, strategies for solving basic operations are strong and systemic. However, students in the intermediate grades struggle with finding and using reliable strategies for solving word problems. The complexity of language that s used in a mathematical context makes it difficult for students to have a confident approach. Therefore, research is being conducted on how reading comprehension can be dove tailed with word problem solving in an elementary classroom. The Problem Solving Instruction Questionnaire was designed to collect data from a range of teachers to learn about math problem solving instruction in a variety of classrooms. This helped identify effective approaches in teaching, to verify poor performance and lack of strategies with students, and collect any other various input. The data would guide the mathematics intervention to be used and planned. Research Topic A majority of current and incoming fourth grade students struggle with solving word problems accurately. Students have difficulty with word problems mostly based on lack of reliable strategies and poor language interpretation. While fact fluency may be present, the ability to interpret vocabulary to guide computation leaves many students unable to construct ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many drivers are so caught up in their phones that they risk their lives and the lives of others just so that they could answer a simple text message. Now that this problem is becoming so big, it should have severe consequences. People who text and drive should get license suspension for six months and get $500 for the first violation and $1000 for the second violation. People who text and drive can hit or even kill pedestrians because of being distracted by their phones and not paying attention to the road. In the course of five years, the national number of pedestrians who were killed or hit by distracted drivers increased from 344 to 500 people. If you think about it, many of those people who died could have been young children or elderly people who didn t have a fault, but because of someone being so inconsiderate using their phone, they killed these people. In 2015, 5,376 pedestrians were killed because of drivers who were too busy texting. All those pedestrians who were killed did not think that because of walking somewhere they would be killed by someone so distracted who didn t have the capacity to make sure that the road was clear for them to keep driving. Introduction Since the dawn of the aviation era, cockpit design has become increasingly complicated owing to the advent of new technologies enabling aircraft to fly farther and faster more efficiently than ever before. With greater workloads imposed on pilots as fleets modernize, the reality of he or she exceeding the workload limit has become manifest. Because of the unpredictable nature of man, this problem is impossible to eliminate completely. However, the instances of occurrence can be drastically reduced by examining the nature of man, how he operates in the cockpit, and what must be done by engineers to design a system in which man and ... System Design A design team should support the concept that the pilot s interface with the system, including task needs, decision needs, feedback requirements, and responsibilities, must be primary considerations for defining the system s functions and logic, as opposed to the system concept coming first and the user interface coming later, after the system s functionality is fully defined. There are numerous examples where application of human centered design principles and processes could be better applied to improve the design process and final product. Although manufacturers utilize human factors specialists to varying degrees, they are typically brought into the design effort in limited roles or late in the process, after the operational and functional requirements have been defined (Sanders McCormick, 727 8). When joining the design process late, the ability of the human factors specialist to influence the final design and facilitate incorporation of human centered design principles is severely compromised. Human factors should be considered on par with other disciplines involved in the design process. The design process can be seen as a six step process; determining the objectives and performance specifications, defining the system, basic system design, interface design, facilitator design, and testing and evaluation of the system. As with anything in life forces are always at battle affecting our psyche, development, and mental health. Erik Erikson s Psychosocial Development theory outlines how environmental forces can either foster a healthy development or cause maladaptive behaviors and development. Everyone has either seen or heard the awful stories of children being mistreated to the point it hinders proper development, and his theory helps to explain how to properly ensure a child, adolescent, or even adult has a healthy chance at life. To preface, if a person doesn t successfully reconcile the conflicting sociocultural forces in the stage they re in at the moment does not means there is no hope for the future development for that person; it simply means not mastering that stage can cause future issues to arise from what each stage represents. For example a child may have the best environment possible and go through each early stage with success and then in early adulthood problems may arise that cause them to then not master the stage there at. Does this mean that person is doomed? No, there is always ample time and opportunity to access the psychosocial crisis at hand and either seek help for problems presented or educate themselves as to the proper steps to assure that the next stage they reconcile the forces at hand. Also, mastery of a stage is not dependent on whether a person can move forward in life, but it may damper the timeline and cause any number of problems: from mental health issues, inferiority complexes, guilt, or at worse not being able to face death with open arms and understanding. Callaway Golf s success enabled it to become the first major golf company to go public, as shares of company stock began trading on the NewYork Stock Exchange in 1992, under the ELY ticker symbol. The company initially made wedges and putters that had unique shafts constructed of hickory with a steel core. • 17. Van Gogh s Starry Night In Vincent Van Gogh s Starry Night there are many aspects of the artwork that are symbolic of Van Gogh s life struggles. It is easy for the viewer to assume that the aspects of Starry Night represent van Gogh s time in the asylum, however, not all aspects represent his insanity and isolation. Starry Night is van Gogh s representation of his biography inspired by his loss of faith, which can be seen and supported by the symbols of the church and the stars. It is fair to say van Gogh was not in a good emotional place when he painted Starry Night. On May 8th 1889, van Gogh entered the hospital of St. Paul de Mausole at St. Rémy because of his mental instability. He did not leave for many weeks therefore he was able to devote the majority of his time to his paintings. van Gogh painted Starry Night in June between 16 18. The mountains are the ones he could see from his cell window but are exaggerated to reflect this idea of another world or religion that he had connected with in the past (Soth). According to James Elkins, van Gogh had very passionate, if not obscure, thoughts about how his art worked as religion (Elkins 12). Many scholars can see the relationship but it is not evident to the common eye. There is definitely a relationship that ties Starry Night to van Gogh s spiritual life, but it is the loss of his spiritual life that influenced this piece of artwork. In Starry Night (figure 1) there is a church that is not based off the church in the town of St. Rémy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Assignment On Steeple And Swot Analysis Part 3: Critically analyse task 6, 7 and 9 from the workbook Task 6 and 7: STEEPLE and SWOT analysis Strategic analysis tools or strategic frameworks are developed to direct organisational tactics and match faculty abilities with market chances so that the faculty can achieve a strategic planning and a unified set of goals including continuing analysis and evaluation (Tomlinson, 2011). Most institutions can adopt one or more strategic frameworks to drive faculty development by providing critical external and internal factors using STEEPLE and SWOT analysis, respectively to formulate the strategy. However, errors and potential limitations of strategic frameworks can occur, if organisations have inabilities of managerial and administrative such as lack of skill and experience to create an effective strategy (Tomlinson, 2011). According to the STEEPLE analysis framework, this framework is used to categorise and determine the factors of macro environment and external influences that may affect the performance of organisations and future activities in both the short and long term (Grant, 2008). STEEPLE is an acronym for social, technological, economic, environmental, political, legal and ethical considerations so a strategic project team needs to analyse and identify the potential impact of these composing factors such as changes, trends and movements in order to maximise efficiency of the organisation (Jones Murray, 2008). It was hypothesized that participants perceptions of the frequency with which managers check for CV lies (Control), as well as the judged seriousness of lies (Seriousness) and participants perceived frequency with which others lie on their CVs (Social Norms) would be predictive of both the frequency with which participants embellish their CVs with non serious lies, as well as whether or not they engage in serious lies on their CVs. Nationality was also found to predict SL since there was a larger difference between the number of liars and non liars among UK participants than between Brazilian participants; however, this last result is to be interpreted with caution. The main difference between TPB and its predecessor, called the Theory of Reasoned Action, is the addition of a third predictor to the theory, namely Perceived Behavioural Control, on top of Attitude and Social Norm predictors which was already present in the former theory. However, according to Ajzen (2005 p.111) the concept of behavioural control poses difficulties of conceptualisation. According to the author, this difficulty lies in the fact that it is not always evident what will constitute actual control over a behaviour, and how to assess it. In this study, the conceptualization of the perceived frequency with which managers check CVs lies (Control) as a measure of TPB s Behavioural Control was not predictive of both the frequency of NSL, or whether or not participants have ever engaged in SL. As mentioned earlier in this paper, there are no immediate physical barriers preventing job seekers from blatantly lying on their CVs. The only plausible barrier would occur when employers screen CVs for discrepancy, with consequences ranging from eliminating the candidate from the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The students have a word watcher that they use when they are reading their books. The word watcher is a plastic candy cane and I used that for this lesson to activate prior knowledge. I held up the candy cane and asked the students what they see. I had some students comment that there is a red strip on the candy cane. The students also noticed a white strip, and then they noticed that the red and white create a pattern. I asked where is the pattern on the candy cane, and they showed that the red and white strips move continually up the candy cane, it just continues in a swirling motion. I used this classroom management strategy so that I could clearly see who was ready. I had created a candy cane so that I could do the activity with the students so they could clearly see what needed to be done. I started by having the students cut the red strips. It was interesting to see how students did this. Some would cut straight across, and some students would have cuts that were slanted. As the students were cutting I was walking around and was commenting and how their candy canes were looking so far. I had the students place all the red pieces on the white candy cane. Once most students were finished I told them to take off every other red strip. I told the students that it is really important for the element of space that you leave the red pieces where they where. This will add the element of line into our candy cane. Communication Journal Entry Journal Entry 4 Perhaps there is nothing more important than understanding how we communicate if we want to ensure that we are able to convey our ideas and intent to people across a wide variety of cultures in a wide variety of settings. Thus, it is vital for me to understand my verbal communication style if I want to be an effective speaker. After our Encounters class on verbal communication, I was able to better understand how I communicate with others. I realized that being brought up in a low context culture, in addition to the fact that I was an immigrant, has made me to be more explicit in my words than implicit. More often than not, when I communicate, I will try to verbally indicate as many details and instructions as possible. Conversely, I have difficulty communicating with people who are more implicit in their verbal communication style if I m not familiar with the culture or slang, I might interpret their message more literally. Furthermore, when I communicate, I feel as if I don t consider face as much as other people. I have always emphasized facts and the truth, even at the cost of losing face. As a result, I am more straightforward in my choice of words. For example, If I feel someone is not contributing to some sort of group project, I will tell that person that they are not doing their part for the team. Many Europeans and North Americans would not necessarily find these things beautiful. How do you explain those differences in perspective? The difference in perspective can be explained by how the people grew up. Growing up in America, young girls have seen their moms and other women in their life wearing makeup such as eyeshadow and mascara to bring out their eyes. Consequently, the girls believe that they will be beautiful if they wear eyeshadow and mascara also. After quite sometime, there was a clear explanation that Aristotle was incorrect with his hypothesis. As proof, take a basketball and a piece of paper. According to Antonin Scalia, Non originalist opinions have almost always had the decency to lie, or at least to dissemble, about what they were doing either ignoring strong evidence of original intent that contradicted the minimal recited evidence of an original intent congenial to the court s desires, or else not discussing the original intent at all, speaking in terms of broad constitutional generalities with no pretense of historical support.
