Panthers Football Team
The New Richland Hartland Ellendale Geneva Panther football team surprised many people this
year with their success. Overcoming the low expectations of many people, this team went 7 3 and
won a playoff game. Many kids stepped up at their positions and gave the squad a whole new look
on the season. Instead of being below average, the Panthers became a tough, play off contending
teamto watch out for. Before the season started there wasn t too much confidence from anybody, not
even from the coaches and players. Assistant coachof the Panther Football team, John Schultz, said
I would say we probably would win about three games by beating the teams that were really
down and lose to the average and above average teams. The reason the lack of confidence was
their was because of how heavy they graduated. The Panthers lost their starting quarterback,
fullback, two linemen, and a wide receiver. Every one of these players were key players in their
six wins last season. The big question in the pre season was whether or not new faces could fill
the shoes of the graduated seniors. Since these players were all talented in their own ways, it
seemed impossible. Fortunately, all of these positions were filled with young players that had
determination and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Finally, at the end of the second quarter Panther wide receiver, Sawyer Van Muldaham, ran 62
yards to put the team on the board. At this point in the game it had been raining out, the field
was slippery and full of mud which made the running game even harder than before. Just the like
the first two quarters, the rest of the game was played in terrible conditions. The storm had gotten
so bad, lightning started late in the fourth quarter and 1:31 left of the game had to be played the
next day. After a nervous filled day for the players, the final minute and a half was played and the
Panthers came on top with a 6 0

Abstract Colonialism brings drastic changes in the Political, Economical and Social conditions of
the colonized countries. It also sows the seed of English education among the colonies which
attempts to transform the indigenous people into human . The emergence of English language
education and colonial rule dominates the native tongue in various spheres and in due course
surpasses it. Initially, the purpose of English education is to assimilate indigenous people into the
dominant mainstream English speaking society and its culture. Indirectly, the aim is to lose their
Native culture and language. Besides, those attempts, later in the twentieth century English
language revitalizes the strength of Native people to voice out their experiences, to register their
oral tradition, folklore and history which are accessible globally now. Moreover new strategies

Character Analysis Of VMAT2 LO Mice
C. APPROACH.
C.1. Mouse PD model to be used in this project: In VMAT2 LO, a transgenic mouse PD model,
shut down of 95% endogenous vesicular monoamine transporter 2 (VMAT2) leads to a massive
oxidative deamination of monoamine neurotransmitters [43], accompanied by increased oxidative
stress markers and a significant decrease of antioxidant ability [44]. Therefore, oxidative damage
could be the culprit for the replication of the pathogenic features of PD [45], including substantial
reductions of DA and NE levels in the brain, progressive neurodegeneration in the SNpc and LC
with formation of О± synuclein containing inclusions. More importantly, neuronal loss in the LC of
VMAT2 LO mice starts earlier (at 12 months) and to a greater extent... Show more content on

To address this possibility, SK N BE(2)M17 and MN9D cells will be exposed to 50, 100, and 200
ВµM H2O2 for 4 days (concentration course) or 200 ВµM H2O2 for 1, 2 and 4 days (time
course). After several sets of exposures, cells will be harvested for different measurements:
intracellular ROS by DCFH2 DA assay, reduced form of glutathione (GSH) by the fluorescent
probe monochlorobimane assay, levels of Cu/Zn superoxide dismutase 1 (SOD1) by western
blotting and cell viability (MTT assay), respectively. Similar experiments and measurements will be
carried out in primary cultures from the mouse ventral mesencephalon and LC to verify the findings
in cell lines.
Anticipated results and interpretation: Based on our primary experiments, increased ROS levels
and a reduced viability will be expected in noradrenergic neurons, indicating a higher
vulnerability of noradrenergic neurons compared to DAergic neurons. Although most ROS are
membrane permeant, O2в€’ does not generally cross cell membranes readily [52]. As the
DCFH2 DA assay mainly measures O2в€’ levels [53], this methodology will provide accurately
reflect the right ROS levels in the cells. We will also measure levels of the antioxidants SOD1,
which catalyzes O2в€’ into O2 [54] and GSH. We expect levels of SOD1 and GSH will be lower
in noradrenergic than DAergic neurons, as reduced antioxidant levels are always concomitantly

Joe And Edna Rhetorical Analysis
1. The premise of JOE AND EDNA is that Joe s inability to see past his wife s plea to strike for a
better wage proves the huge misbalance of corporations and the common folk although the main
argument is the disparity in hope. Edna urges that there is no money but solely for rent. You got
two blondie kids...they need food and clothes (Odets 9). Joe believes that this is all they can
achieve at the moment, that even if he were to rise above, it could ultimately backfire. We re
averaging six seven dollars...that is something, Edna (Odets 10). It is evident that Joe s idea of
surviving is too maintain stagnate. Odets pushes Joe s rhetoric to instill the idea that although
fighting for a better wage and going against your superiors is an uplifting... Show more content on

2. There is a yin yang effect portrayed with Joe and Edna. The yin is known as dark and negative
while the yang is a representation of light and positivity. How do they fit into these symbols? It is
noted throughout the entire vignette that darkness surrounds and clouds Joe s judgment, ultimately
making him weak. He portrays qualities of someone who is defeated and unwilling to change.
Edna represents that light/change and is the more positive character. Her strength and willingness
to see through the conflict is what ultimately helps them come to a resolution. Both characters
complement each other much like the yin and yang, channeling their energy to create harmony in
their lives. 3. The most important issue brought in the episode is the division amongst the
working class and capitalists. It is quoted that times are bad, (Odets 8) and if Joe could get
another job he would. Edna makes an argument to further stress this division by saying your boss
is making suckers outo you boys (Odets 10), as a way to say that his superiors don t care about him
or his family. Competition amongst workers during the great depression enabled the reduction in
wages or has Edna states, they ll push you down to three and four a week before you know it
(Odets 10). This dialogue is what would ultimately make a reader understand that if you didn t
fight for a better wage, a business would ultimately decide your fate. Companies aren t in
business to pay your expenses but only to make a profit. Edna quotes, the world was supposed to
be for all of us (10). It is heavily implied that communism is denounced to anyone who suggests
that businesses should be in favor of the working class. Edna tries to instill the idea that what was
happening to their family was morally wrong and that change is needed for their sake and for others.

Alcatraz Descriptive Writing
Alcatraz; just the name sends cold chills into everyone s spine. A tiny island in the middle of the
large pacific ocean. Not your typical tropical island with nice beaches and waiters walking
around with food and drink in their bright white uniform, ready to serve you. This one has a
rocky shore with cold water splashing on it making the horrific sound of death. The screaming
noise of a fast wind adding to that is not something anyone ever wants to hear. Morning mist
rising from the ocean everyday trying to swallow the whole island is no pretty sight for a prisoner.
An island from prisoners can see the beautiful city of San Francisco with its bustling life and
sparkling lights while their own life is stuck in dullness and darkness. A pathetic... Show more

LJ walked around the street and pickpocketed and no one ever knew. This gave him the money to
support his life but more than that, it gave him pride. He gained some confidence because he
could actually do something. The thugs who hung out with him marvelled at his skills; some
even wished that they had his talents. The unwanted kid in school was now a beloved mentor;
that made it easier for his brain to forget that the marvelled activity was actually illegal. His
aspirations now grew big and he started planning grander schemes to impress his buddies. He
decided to leave this small town and expand his illegal activity in a bigger city. In the end he
boarded a greyhound, that too in a sneaky way to avoid paying for the bus ticket, and ended up
in Portland, Oregon. LJ could not contain himself as he was finally out of his bug infested home
and free to do a lot of stealing, which he had a talent for. Right away this LJ found himself in a
bad crowd, a gang called the House Snatchers. He was a novice but learned the trade quickly and
moved up the ring quickly. There he met Crosby Banker, Gordon John, and Doro Hechter. Each
one of them already had a story worth writing a book on their own. They were older than him and
took LJ under their wing when they recognized the potential benefits he could bring to their team.
That was when LJ really started to turn into a master

Myth Functions As A Source Of Expression In Our Lives,
Myth functions as a source of expression in our lives, whether it be value, worldview or even
how our very own gender roles are impacted. Myth can allow particular behavior in response to
how we perceive and deal with the myth itself. If we accept the myth, we could potentially use it
to cope with life in general. Though fiction, myth gives our lives this sense of an exterior, or
hidden human life that is capable of giving our lives more meaning. Often times, and in the case
for this paper, a sense of feminism, the symbolism of the woman warrior speaks as the theme of
myth.
To first compare this sense of myth into the reality of our daily lives, I d like to first look at Joseph
Campbell s theory in which signififies this expression of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Or perhaps, consider the passage here, where Campbell makes it aware that from our dreams,
we can begin to learn about ourselves, For example, you may be worried about whether you are
going to pass an exam. Then you have a dream of some kind of failure, and you find that failure
will be associated with many other failures in your life. They are all piled up together there.
Freud says even the most fully expounded dream is not really fully expounded. The dream is an
inexhaustible source of spiritual information about yourself. Now the level of dream of will I
pass the exam? or Should I marry this girl? that is purely personal. But, on another level, the
problem f passing an exam is not simply a personal problem. Everyone has to pass a threshold of
some kind. That is an archetypal thing. So there is a basic mythological theme there even
though it is a personal dream. These two levels the personal aspect and then the big general
problem of which the person s problem is a local example are found in all cultures. For example,
everyone has the problem of facing death. This is a standard mystery. From this passage, Campbell
gets a bit technical and personal on a different level than we would suggest when we think of
mythology. But I enjoy his perspective, how we are so intertwined with our dreams and how our
memories can identify us in such a way that we are thrown off of reality.

Many veterans have died serving this great nation they call their home; any son would be proud
to call that man his father. They showed a great amount of patriotism and heroism to take a
bullet for the red, white, and blue. If teens were forced to join a service program it would teach
them to: never take their eyes off of the flag during the National Anthem, respect their president,
and never lose faith in what they think is right. I once knew this old verteran, he lived down the
street from me and sat on his porch every day, looking onto his yard, at the flowers. I visited him
every Tuesday, after I was chasing my brother down the street and he tought me how to catch
him even faster. We talked for 45 minutes each time, and the whole time he talked about his time
in the service, his tactics, and his love for his country. He said that even now in his old age he
would take twice as many bullets for this country then when he was enrolled. Teens can experience
this love as well if they create this civil service

Global Fund Advisor Introduced Webs
Chapter 1 : Introduction: The idea of ETF was first perceived by NATHAN MOST in 1993.
Nathan s first ETF was called SPARD (also referred to as SPIDER) and it was first traded on the
American stock exchange (AMEX) by state street GA. SPARD s only purpose is to track the S
P 500. The number of ETFs that track different indexes all over the world exchange markets have
increased significantly since 1993. SPARD, as a first ETF, dominated the markets in the 1990s,
together with CUBES, which was designed to track NASDAQ 100. The ETF is a financial
product, which has attracted a large number of financial product designers. The ETF as a
creative idea has opened a significant number of empty rooms on the exchange market, which
needed to be filled with new ETF products. This is what attracted the financial product designers
to create different types of ETFs in the last 21 years. Barclays global fund advisor introduced
WEBS (world equity benchmark shares) in 1996 as a first ETF to provide American investors
with easy access to the forging markets. They created a family of ETFs and each ETF had
ishares as a first name and the index it followed as a second name (Ferri, 2002) . The ETF
influence could first be seen in Europe, when the German Deutsche bank presented an ETF linked
to commodity in 2006 (Fuchita Yasuyuki, 2007). ETF Barclays continued to generate new EFT
products by launching the first ETF linked to the bond price index in 2002.The ETF as a financial

Pros And Cons Of Searches
In this essay I will talk about about search and cease. Also how it would be like if we did not have
this used in daily life. This is simply for protection of the people working with the law. Also I will
talk about the pros and cons about searches.
Having search is great to protect the people like the police officers, the person that needs to be
searched and people they are surrounded by. This is a great thing to do but also can be very
dangerous. Some people take things to the next level to try to get away with things. Let s say
someone has something on them that they shouldn t have and they get pulled over and the officer
thinks they might be a danger to the community so just to be safe he ask the person to step out of
his car so he can search them or the car. It s a dangerous job you never know what could happen

anything well he s wrong that officer has the right to do a pat down on the guy if he feels it s

know about he will probably say no so the officer continues. The officer has no idea what he has
on him so he has to take thing with percussion he has to make them put their hands behind their
back or stand them up against a building, car, or anything like that so he can search him properly
people can hide things anywhere. I think if we did not have this in everyday life then a lot more
crimes would be committed. If we did not have this then a lot more shootings, killings, and
stabbing would happen or people would get away with drug dealing which could be very
dangerous. This could also be kinda okay if we didn t have it so lets say a mother needs to make
money somehow she s not making much at her job now so she needs to make extra cash fast to
help pay for bills so she does drug dealing she

Students With The Best Learning Experience
Since I start this program I have been always asking myself if I will be a good teacher, or even
close enough to be a good teacher. I teacher who will be breaking down barriers and propel
students to reach their highest level. I am still wondering what will be the best ways, or
strategies to provide students with the best learning experience. During this class, I was able to
identify several ways that can help reach my teaching professional goals. On 11/07/2016,
Colleen Walcott made shared very interesting strategies they observed while on the field such as
mini lessons strategies use at a 5th Grade Rock Cycle lesson. In my own perspective, I
understand that a mini lesson is a short lesson that will teach student smaller concepts. Because
each unit belong to a lager concept, students will be able to later relate smaller ideas to bigger
ideas or skills. I believe as a new teacher this strategy will be very helpful. The students will have
a narrow focus that will give them instruction in a skill or concept and it will allow the new
teacher to be take it one at the time. Not to worry to be an amazing teacher the first day but to
give the students the opportunity to grasp new skills and concepts. In addition, I was attract by the
idea of using student rubrics so they can check themselves as they go. While reflecting, I did some
research and asked questions to the science teacher I observed. Rubrics are very effective and
motivational ways for students to better understand the

Taking a Look at Poltergeist
Poltergeist are loud supernatural ghosts that are not something you want to mess with. Have you
ever had the bed shake unexpectedly? Or have the power go out when there s a not even a storm?
Or maybe even had some disappearing objects... Well this could be the result of a Poltergeist. We
believe that Poltergeists are real. (MOLLY)
Poltergeist hauntings have been going on for a very long time. Several historical poltergeist cases
have been well documented. One of the first poltergeist cases was the Thornton Heath Poltergeist
Case. One August night the family was woken in the middle of the night by their radio, which had
somehow turned itself on. The radio was turned to the foreign language station. At christmas time
an ornament was taken off the tree by an unseen presence, and thrown a the fathers forehead. Near
new years eve footsteps were heard in the attic. Accounts of poltergeist encounters have been
happening since this time. People in history probably wouldn t lie about there being a ghost in their
house. If it was just a made up thing how would so many people have evidence of poltergeist? So
do you believe poltergeists are real? (CLAIRE)
Poltergeists center people usually that are teens. Their attacks are usually towards people that
have sadness in their life and depression. They are life like creatures that throw things, scratch
you, and just wreck your house. They are not nice to you and can last anywhere from 3 hours to 3
years it can be super short or super long.

Without A Conceivable Future Sparling
Summery
Nicole L. Sparling is the author of the scholarly article, Without a Conceivable Future: Figuring
the Mother in Alfonso Cuaron s Children of Men , in which Sparling uses her knowledge of
feminist studies to give her opinions on Children of Men. In Sparlings paper she argues that in
Children of Men, biopolitics have had major implications on the society and the effects of a
biopolitical society have caused the female body to be viewed as a product for government control
only and that the fetus gets privilege over the mother, who loses her humanity in the process.
Sparling proves her point in the paper by showing that in the film the female body is viewed as
hostile territory, with the women in the film no longer being able to stay ... Show more content on

Sparling uses her knowledge of feminist studies to showcase this idea very well. Sparling
emphasises the theme of biopolitics in the film and how that is in direct correlation of the
treatment of the women in the film. Biopolitics is described by Michel Foucault, who coins the
term, as the way in which the specific problems of life and population have been posed within a
technology of government. Sparling takes this term and puts it to the film to showcase of the
biopolitical nature of the movie is one where it feels as though the government, either it be the
broken government at the start of the film, or the new possible government of the Human Project
, ultimately, as Sparling states, Human Project is a scientific enterprise whose aim to save
humanity by developing or finding a cure for infertility males it a possible site of biopower,
exercising control over and disciplining individual bodies for the sake of human race. I thought
that Sparlings idea of transferring power that the government has on Kee s body to just another
government made sense, as in the film with the ambiguous ending we could not see the if the
Human Project would treat Kee as a person or as a hostile territory Sparling agrees with this
thought as a woman s body being treated as a hostile environment in this apocalyptic world. And yet
the hostile environment is not merely limited to threats of terrorism, famine, natural disaster, and
unsustainability; rather, this hostility is also located in the female body itself, particularly the
womb, which, as we learn, can no longer sustain the fetus But if Kee s body is being looked at as
a hostile territory the female body gets treated as something that women themselves have done, the
female body in Cuaron s

Essay On A Rose For Emily Grierson
In William Faulkner s short story A Rose for Emily, Faulkner uses¬ the normality of tradition
versus change that is destined to occur, along with the power of death. Through the enigmatic
figure of Emily Grierson, Faulkner conveys that Emily struggles to come to terms with death,
rather than accepting it she tries to overrule it. As a living testament to the past, she serves as the
traditions from past decades that people wish to respect and honor; nonetheless, she is also a
burden and entirely disconnected from the outside world as she sees it. Within these struggles that
we see our main character go through we see a tremendous significance with Emily s home, the

When Miss Emily Grierson died (33). Emily lives in an abiding world of her world sticking to
what works for her. Rather than go out and experience the new innovations throughout her town
she refuses to simply let it go. More specifically, Emily Grierson has been a traditionalist, a duty,
and a care; a sort of hereditary obligation upon the town (33). The importance of tradition was
very important to Emily, due to the fact that she simply could not accept change. For instance
there was a scene in which the whole town had gotten there mail boxes up to date with brand new
numbers affixed to the side of their house. Emily refused all of it. The past is not a vague shimmer
but more of an ideal reality. Emily s frightening bridal chamber is an intense attempt to stop time
and to simply stop change, although this comes at the expense of another human beings life. Death
hangs over A Rose for Emily, from the very beginning Faulkner s mention of Emily s death through
these descriptions of modern changes occurring within her society. In every case, death prevails and
always out beats over every other attempt trying to match

Swot Analysis Of Nestle Pakistan
Over view of nestle Pakistan:
Nestle Pakistan started its operations in Pakistan in 1988 under a joint venture with milk Pak and
took over management in 1992. Nestle Pakistan is the leading food and beverage company in
Pakistan. The key focus of nestle is on nutrition, health and wellness of people. Nestle Pakistan is
engaged only in production and manufacturing of quality products for its consumers. They are not
directly involve in the distribution of products. They only market or advertise the products. The
distribution work is done with the help of third party.
Segmentation:
When the products are manufactured they are invoiced to the distributer. Here the distributer acts
as a wholesaler, he does not deals in retailing activities. The duty of distributer is just to deliver the
product to retailer.
If we talk about the segmentation, Pakistan is divided in to three zones.

Each zone is further divided in to more regions. Like if we talk about central zone it is divided in to

A Study On The Cardiac Rhythm
Introduction: The electrocardiogram remains the single most important tool for interpretation of
the cardiac rhythm. 1 It can be used to successfully pick up conduction abnormalities, rhythm
disturbances, possible myocardial ischemia, and a slew of other abnormalities that can be
linked to various cardiac or metabolic diseases. 1,2 ECGs can also be used as a preventive tool
to screen for abnormalities early in the disease process. 3,4 In 1982, Italy passed a law that all
individuals who want to compete in competitive sports undergo a clinical evaluation that included
an assessment of family history, person history, a physical exam, and an electrocardiogram. The
bulk of the evaluation relied heavily on the ECG looking for any abnormalities... Show more

This program recruited community volunteers to perform the ECGs and were given a
standardized training on how to correctly obtain one. The ECGs were then interpreted by 6
cardiologists experienced in adolescent ECGs. Among the 32,561 screened, 2.5% had abnormal
ECGs. The importance of this study was to show that mass ECG screenings can be efficiently
obtained and still yield quality results when assessing for risk factors for SCA. This study
reported that the cost per ECG was only $8.67, which is more proof of why ECG screening
should become a standardized preventive modality. ECGs can play an essential role in
monitoring the status of a patient and for recognizing trends in the patients progression. Fesmire

(AMI) and acute coronary syndrome (ACS) than an initial ECG. Serial ECGs were 68.1% more
sensitive for identifying AMI compared to 55.4% using an initial ECG. For ACS, serial ECGs

Norman Rockwell s Homecoming Marine
Homecoming Marine is a painting by Norman Rockwell, it was featured on the cover of The
Saturday Evening Post in October of 1945. The original is 46x42 , is an oil painting on canvas,
and can be found in the Norman Rockwell Museum collection. The painting shows a young
soldier seated on a box just to the left of center, in what appears to be a mechanics workshop,
surrounded by six other people. He is dressed in a green military uniform; his shirt has a lighter
green tone compared to his pants. His military hat is tall, circular and perched high on his head
with a leather band around the base of the hat where it meets the black brim. Affixed to the front
of the hat appears to be a black insignia. He wears six different color ribbons over his... Show more

garage, and he told him when he returned from the war his job will be waiting for him. He
probably told him that because he is also the marine s father, as this was a family business. The
marine s brother is seated on the work bench and has been carrying the load of two people while
his brother was away. The two boys in the room are the brother s sons, and they have different

with the exception of the oldest boy. He is wearing the sweater, standing next to his dad, and is

footsteps. This young boy has dreams of going to college, getting out of that town, and avoiding
the military if at all possible. The other young boy in the painting is just the opposite, he is
engaged and hanging on every word spoken in the room. I would suspect their dad would be
supportive of either way the boys wanted to go, as he is proud of his brother but wouldn t want to

in need of a variety of different medical interventions to help her return to normalcy. Her symptoms
include short term memory problems, change in appetite and mood, impaired physical abilities,
and a change in her word finding skills. Sari returned home after a night stay in the hospital. She is
determined to return to school, which her physician clears with the recommendation of her
receiving a multitude of different types of care. This paper will be an examination of what Sari s

Treatise On Pornography
An Open Secret: A Treatise on Pornography
In the 1980s in America, a war raged. There were casualties and broken lives. What transpired
during that war changed the face of America for generations. This was not a war between countries
however; this was a war between women: what they called the The Feminist Sex Wars . Anti porn
feminists led by Andrea Dworkin debated with pro sex feminists on subjects such as prostitution,
erotica, and pornography and their position within feminism and our society. Dworkin and her
supporters argued that these were products of a patriarchal society, that these were extremely
harmful toward the image and status of women. Others such as Susie Bright argue that prostitution
and pornography can be feminist or empowering to women, and are not intrinsically harmful. In
this paper, I will endorse the view of radical feminists that pornography is harmful, not only for
those who appear in it, but those who consume it.
Before we explore the topic of pornography and its harms, we must look at what radical feminism
is. Radical feminism, the theory espoused by leading critic of pornography Andrea Dworkin, is the
idea that women are biological class which oppressed by the dominant class of men. Patriarchal
power surrounds women completely, through all media and institutions. According to radical
feminists, it is only through the complete destruction of all patriarchal institutions can women truly
be free. It is through this lens that the anti porn

The Influence of Paul the Apostle
Paul the Apostle is considered to be the most influential of the early members of the Christian
church, along with Simon Peter and James the Just. Saint Paul is said to have been born around
AD 5, and considered to have died about AD67, though the Bible does not record his death
specifically. The epistles written by Paul to the churches were plainly and sharply worded. Paul s
writings make up a good portion of the New Testament and demonstrate his position of prominence
as an apostle of the early Church. Saint Paul was a significant contributor to the spreading of the
Gospelthrough the early Christian communities, particularly through his Epistles, that were
established across the Roman Empire. Paul s letters make up some of the earliest of Christian
documents and, as such, they are a window into early Christianity, with all of its controversies and
unpolished beliefs. The authoritative rule of the New Testament is considered to derive from Saint
Paul s works Before his conversion, Paul used the name Saul and he was engaged in the
persecution of Jesusearly disciples in the area around Jerusalem. In the book of Acts, the narrative
tells about Saul traveling from Jerusalem to Damascus when he encountered the resurrected Jesus
in a great light that blinded him for three days, until Ananias of Damascus restored his sight.
Following that powerful experience, Paul began his preaching about Jesus of Nazareth as the Son
of God and the Jewish Messiah. Saint Paul s influence

The sale terms had to be finalized by the NBA. Levenson informed NBA Commissioner, Adam
Silver of his desire to sell the franchise. In order to sell his share, Levenson hired bankers,
Goldman Sachs and Inner Circle Sports to sell the Atlanta Hanks team. Levenson s share was
sold to Ares Management led by Anthony Ressier for $850 million. Initially, it had been reported
Levenson could have sold it anywhere ranging from $700 million to $1 billion. It is presumably
believed that bankers tried to oversell in the beginning. Previously in the year 2013, it had been
announced that the Atlanta Hawks were worth only $435 million. After the sale of the Bucks and
the Clippers, that amount changed drastically. The value went up, because of the new television
deals that surged. With the sale, Levenson gave up his rights as governor and controlling owner of
the Atlanta Hanks to CEO Steve Koonin. Shortly after Levenson announced he was selling his
share, his co founder, Michael Gearon Jr., made a similar announcement. It is estimated Levenson
in conjunction with Ed Peskowitz were the majority owners, owning around 50% of the Atlanta
Hawks franchise. Respectively, Levenson sold his 24% share of the

A Report On Summit Electronic Supply
1. Summit Electronic Supply was in need of new systems that could mend some of their unique
business process problems. Summit s line of business involves being the distributor of electronics
equipment to electrical contractors, giving the company a high volume of transactions and
inventory turnover (Laudon, 2013). The most important processes for Summit included stock
keeping units and order transactions. As a distributer, Summit s main concern was to fulfill its
orders on time. To do so, Summit needed to have meticulous records of the location and
availability of its products. Summit sold a high volume of cable and wires that were hard to keep
track of. Since these materials were sold in lengths, (e.g. 500 feet of cable), it was vital to keep
track of exactly how much inventorywas left. Another important process of Summit were its sales
chargebacks. Sales chargebacks are when a supplier sells a higher wholesaler price to the distributor
than the price the distributor had set with the retail customer (Laudon, 2013). Keeping track of
chargebacks was vital to the company as it ensured that no extra revenue was lost. Another
important business process for Summit was its warehouse accommodations. Summit would set up
temporary warehouses to supply large customers with long term job sites (Laudon, 2013).

performance. First, the company s old system made it nearly

The Cause And Effects Of Climate Change And Its Causes
Natural disasters have killed more than 600,000 people and left behind trillions of dollars in
damages in the last two decades, the United Nations said Monday. (Chan) Extreme weather has
caused millions of casualties and extreme damages over the years, but lately there has been an
increase in severe weatherevents. This is causing problems in the US, with the amount of
tornadoes rising in tornado alley Tennessee experienced a 67 percent increase in tornado activity in
1983 2013 compared to the 1954 1983 time period. Oklahoma experienced a nearly 35 percent
decrease in tornadoes in 1983 2013 compared to 1954 1983.
Climate change is defined as a change in global or regional climate patterns, in particular a change
apparent from the mid to late 20th century onwards and attributed largely to the increased levels of
atmospheric carbon dioxide produced by the use of fossil fuels. Climate change has happened as a
cycle throughout history, with ice ages occurring, and then warming. The earth naturally warms and
cools, but due to the burning of fossil fuels the rate is growing exponentially.
The climate changing was first suspected in the 19th century when scientists in britain debated
whether Europe was covered by ice in the past. Guy S Callender suggested that the warming trend
revealed in the 19th century had been caused by a 10% increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide
from the burning of fossil fuels. (Harding) The debate intensified by 2005 when a study was

Emotional Intelligence Of Leaders By Daniel Goleman
In Daniel Goleman s article, The emotional intelligence of leaders, he asserts that emotional
intelligence not rational intelligence is what distinguishes exceptional leaders from average leaders.
Biologically speaking, feelings and emotions developed in the limbic system before the
development of rational thought in the cerebral cortex. Emotional intelligenceinvolves the balance
and synergy between the emotional and rational centers of the human brain. Goleman, a
psychologist who has written articles for the New York Times and has authored books and on
behavioral science, establishes five emotional intelligence competencies required for successful
leaders: self awareness, emotionmanagement, motivation of others, empathy, and staying connected.
Self awareness is an understanding of how you feel and who you are; it involves the ability to listen
to your deepest instincts and influences your decision making. Self aware leaders are confident,
decisive, and know who they are what their strengths and weaknesses are. Emotion management is
exhibiting good self control and limiting impulsive reactions. Leaders who allow themselves to be
governed by anger, fear, anxiety, and sadness cannot provide effective, confident, authoritative
leadership. Goleman references a Stanford University study which showed that children with better
impulse control, in this case delaying gratification, outperformed their impulsive counterparts years
later on the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT).

doubt some of the most influential out there. Of course it would have to be because according
to Baker s Biographical Dictionary, Bob Marley emerged as the first (and possibly only) artist

The Causes And Effects Of Stress

Stress is something that is inevitable, but what people do not always understand is the fact that
anxiety, depression, sadness, and stress all impact your physical well being. All of these factors
trigger a lower immune system, now picture being in poverty with fear and stress, what people do
not get is the fact that it is not just being hungry or feeling less clothed, it is the feeling of
believing you that are unwanted, uncared for, and unloved. The term stress filled with uncertainty
that is used to describe a dreadful continuous event or responding to events. Growing up in poverty
can lead to poor health and social outcomes, which can also have the impact of morbidity and
chronic diseases that impoverished kids from academic achievements and more behavior problems
and emotional issues (Gupta, 2007). This also includes inadequate health and educational resources
which creates a toxic environment, fewer social opportunities and more exposure to trauma. It is
important to recognize that stress is a trickling effect, it affects you but also the people around you.
Stress can influence the way the brain develops. During, fetal brain development, a very long
process starts after the tenth gestational week when organs, begin to form, during this time the body
is extremely vulnerable to the excessive maternal stress hormones which can change the cognitive
function and behavior of the baby. (Lefmann,2014) The hippocampusis related to memory and

Emma s Management of Harriet s Affairs in Jane Austen s Emma
In this novel, Jane Austen uses the relationship between Emma and Harriet to highlight the
important issues. She uses Emma s management of Harriet to do this. She creates contrast between
Emma and Harriet, she portrays Emma as beautiful and intelligent though we can still see faults in
her personality. The main fault is her desire to control people and matchmake them. This also raises
issues, including the position of women and Emma s social status, marriage and comedy which is
shown through irony, especially in the relationship between Emma and Harriet.

This shows that Austen had views ahead of her time. When Emma hears of Mr Martin s proposal,
she believes that Harriet s status is higher than his, and should refuse the offer when, in fact, this is
not true at all. In this sense, Emma is very naГЇve and shows how she misjudges situations. Mr
Martin is of a higher social class than Harriet and also has more money. Here Emma is misusing
her patronage.
A further theme of the novel is patronage and how Emma abuses it. When Harriet refuses Mr
Martin s proposal, we can see that Harriet realises that she is in no position to do so, but Emma
does not realise this, portraying Emma as being quite ignorant of this issue. Mr Woodhouse Emma
s father is satirised by Austen to be a worrier, and is oblivious to what goes on around him. He,
therefore, does not see Emma s matchmaking and management of people. He is one of the main
people of whom Emma manages. Through this we see that Austen characterises Emma to abuse her
own patronage.
The position of women was an issue in Austen s time and is highlighted in this novel. At this time,
women had very much a lower position in society than men but, because of Emma s inheritance
and family history, she is an exception to the rule. With the power this gives her, we see yet another
contrast between Harriet and Emma. Emma s intelligence and Harriet s lack of it is another
contrast. Emma has this

The Testament Of Isaiah And Isaiah
Throughout the Old Testament God carried out his plan to bring His people back to Him. Often
the people of Israel would fall away from their relationship with God by worshipping false Idols
such as Baal or by disobeying His commands in general. One of the main ways God got his
message of redemption to His people was via prophets, spiritually gifted individuals that God
lifted up to communicate His will to the people of Israel. The prophets Jeremiah and Isaiah often
were used to call Israel out on their wickedness, and to warn then of God s coming judgement
that would teach them a lesson. It is clear from what the prophets wrote, that God very much
intended to wipe the sins of the nation s away, one way or another. This is a message that still
very much applies today, Isaiah and Jeremiah were meant to steer God s people back to Him and
their messages with Christians today are supposed to do the same. Judah and Israel in their time
were constantly full of sins and needing to be cleansed. In the beginning of Isaiah, he opens by
stating that they were a sinful nation, A people laden with iniquity, A brood of evildoers, Children
who are corrupters! They have forsaken the lord. (Isaiah 1:4, New King James Version). The sins
of Judah and Israel were many and that is why God sent the prophets with the message they gave. In
attempt to warn the people that disobeying God s commandments would lead to harsh punishment.
It is apparent that God did respond to the sins harshly. In

Mark Twain Analysis
Education may be conveyed in many formats, such as classrooms, laboratories, and books. Teachers
instruct within the classroom, while researchers and scientist utilize a laboratory setting for
instruction and education, while other forms of education derive from authors who communicate
by the written word. One well known author and educator is Samuel L. Clemens, more commonly
known as Mark Twain. Twain was born in Florida, Missouri on November 30, 1835 and utilized his
childhood and adolescent experiences as a method of education. Mark Twain is powerfully depicted
as an unconventional educator through his books, literature, and personal quotes.
Through some of Mark Twain s books he captures much of the history in which he lived. One of
the books that he has written is The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, which is based upon his memories
from when he lived in Missouri (Twain, 1876). The adventures that he wrote about in this
particular book actually took place in history, giving us an insight into what it was like to live in
that time period. Another book that gave several details on the history in the 19th century was
The Prince and the Pauper, because instead of giving insight on a personal experience, it gave
insight on the class relations in which people were separated during that time (Twain, 1881). This
insight gave us knowledge on how the people were categorized by their job titles. He shows the
differences between the classes by writing about two young boys that switch

The Subgenre Of Horror
What is horror? Many people enjoy a good book or film that sends a shiver down your spine and
makes you question reality. This may seem crazy to others, who do not see a single reason why
you would stay up watching a film that will make you unable to sleep for days, but to others it is
a hobby. The question is, what is horror really, and what makes it so good? Per definition, a
horror story would be a work of fiction with the intention and purpose of giving the reader a
negative feeling, such as fear, repulsion, or dread. It gives the work a frightening atmosphere.
Whilst there are many subgenres of horror, the largest amount of horror stories focus on topics
like death, evil, the supernatural and witchcraft. This is most likely the case because of its
ancient origins, it even has its roots in folklore and religion. Horror started out as something
quite religious, as the majority of people have been religious for a long while. Religious horror
often contains Satan as the villain who uses someone s body as a vessel, a child s for... Show more

It tends to have romantic and supernatural aspects, with the purpose to both seduce and horrify the
audience. Even when they do not contain the paranormal or supernatural, they remain mysterious
due to the focus on a very dark atmosphere. There tends to be a lot of symbolism in gothic horror
as well. Fascinatingly enough, it is one of the oldest subgenres of horror and can even be
considered to be the mother of all modern genre fiction, as the first sci fi authors got inspiration
from gothic horror. The name Gothic originates from an architecture in the Middle Ages, which
Brits from the 18th and 19th century were interested in because of its mysterious and creepy aura.
Back then, there were a lot of Gothic ruins scattered around in Great Britain that inspired British
authors to write horror set in the Middle Ages, often taking place in Catholic

Acute Stroke
The initial signs of acute stroke on nonenhanced CT are subtle but signs that may be visible
would include: loss of distinction between white and grey mater, hypodensities in the brain
parenchyma, loss of appearance of sulcal markings on surface of the brain and obscured
delineation of basel ganglia. The presence of hyerdensity in a main artery may imply thrombus
in a main cerebral artery. In the absence of contrast this sign has a high specificity but a low
sensitivity for middle cerebral artery occlusion. Overall a nonenhanced CT brain in acute stroke
has a sensitivity as low as 26%. If more than 30% of the distribution of the middle cerebral artery

Depending on the timing of imaging after IV injection arteries veins or soft tissues are

vascular structures from aortic arch to the vertex. This technique is very accurate for diagnosing
occlusion of any of the cerebral arteries be they intracranial or extracranial. It will also diagnose
the presence of stenosis or dissection of the carotid arteries or middle cerebral arteries. From these
images reconstructions of intracranial and extracranial cerebral arteries can be made. A contrast

precise anatomy of cerebral arteries, any stenosis or thrombus in each

A Reflection On The Life Of Hereworth Church
It is something of a challenge to write a reflection on the life of the chapel through 2017 when I
have only been there for a small part of it. Suffice it to say that the past year has been one of
change and transition for the role of Chaplain at Hereworth School, and for the life of the chapel.
With Reverend Rosemary Carey s departure at the end of Term Two, the life of the chapel was
placed in the hands of the teaching staff for Term Three, with valiant efforts to continue the spiritual
dimensionof the school. While no doubt the experience was enjoyed by staff and students alike,
the words uttered to me by one staff member as I left my first chapel service, Thank God you re
here , suggest there is an appreciation for the unique challenges of the role.
These challenges are what I have been discovering as I have gone, very quickly, through our final
term of 2017. While there are definitely similarities to the parish ministry I was engaged in prior to
joining Hereworth, there are also distinct differences the demographic being a major part of that
difference. How do we translate the great power and truth of our Christian faith into language and
practices that are intelligible and formative for young boys? What are the tools and resources of our
faith that not only form our heritage but the character of those who come under their tutelage?
What is it that the spiritual life of Hereworth School can provide to our boys and our communities
that make it indispensable,

Government Control Over Surveillance
In today s society we are being watched way too much. Some of the times we are being watched,
we know about it and other times, we don t. The government, with a few clicks of a button, can
watch what websites you go to, your text messages, even the pictures you send to your
grandmother last Christmas, without your knowledge of them doing so. They hold too much
power over surveillance of U.S. citizens. There are plenty of incidents where the NSA (National
Security Agency) was caught taking files of citizens messages, incoming and outgoing phone calls.
Governmental surveillance is going too far, and now it seems like they are watching you at every
corner. It is overwhelming. The governmenthas a great deal of control over surveillance because
they can watch anyone through cameras, messages, and spy on people through the data from phone
companies all over.

The government can easily go through your messages and emails that you have sent so they can

If the government wants information on you badly enough, they will dig into your sent

you. Just like in the book, The Codebreaker, the Puppet Master talks about how the government

government and the Puppet Master have the watching over people together. When you think about
cases where the government can pull up messages you send to people in court, they do not get the
information from you directly, they get it indirectly from your phone history. They can also pull
your call log, the duration of the call, where you called from and much more. The government has

Complex Interrelationship Among The Cardiovascular System
There is a complex interrelationship among the cardiovascular system, the central nervous system

There is a basic law of kidneys that Na+ excretion is directly proportional to mean arterial blood
pressure (MABP). A marginal increase in MABP causes significant increase in Na+ excretion.
Redistribution of blood flow between outer cortex and medulla alters salt and water excretion.
The majority of Na+ ion is reabsorbed by the thick ascending loop of Henley, the length of loop of

Rock And Roll Is Important Throughout The History
Rock and roll is so important throughout the history, which always contributes to the story of
music, the public, and the society. It is an indispensable part of music, in which countless
famous artists and bands shine repeatedly. The trace of rock and roll is easily found everywhere
in different types of music, like hip pop. It has allowed artists to speak on political issues and
influence government. For normal people, sometimes rock and roll is like a window, through
which people can notice inequality, darkness but also hope. It becomes everyone s emotions
destination and also is able to instigate campaigns by utilizing their emotions. Rock and roll is
woven into the natural fabric of lifestyle. It is common to find that someone s favorite music is
rock and roll. As for fashion, rock and roll elements are supposed to appear in lots of clothing,
decorations, and bags. As a result, I find it necessary and interesting to meditate about rock and
roll itself and its history. During the development of rock and roll, from its brith to explosion and
be mainstream, it has always been influenced by social and culture changes. Social and culture
context plays the key role in the development and evolution of it. To some extent, the context
controls the death of not only rock and roll but also other genres. However, social and culture
changes also promote the division and brith of new types. In turn, each kind of rock and roll
reflects those changes during the last sixty

Bill Merrilees and Dale Miller
Department of Marketing, Griffith University, Gold Coast, Australia
Abstract
Purpose The paper aims to highlight the importance of corporate rebranding in branding practice,
which is neglected in theoretical treatment, so an extended theory is to be developed.
Design/methodology/approach From the literature, the existing state of the theory of corporate
rebranding is articulated. That theory is extended by the development of six principles and by case
research. The principles are illustrated in the case of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With corporate branding, organisational issues may well involve some changes, but the emphasis is
on getting all units to adhere consistently to policy and procedure specifications (such as
common letterheads or business cards, or the use of colours). However, with corporate rebranding,
all units need to be moved from one mindset/culture to another. Although there are some common
issues, the virtues of a corporate rebranding framework include: . explicit focus on how and to what
extent the corporate brand should be changed;
.
emphasis on justifying the brand revision both benefits and costs;
.
greater sensitivity to potential internal resistance to the brand change and thus a need for a well
structured change management program to get brand buy in; and
.
highlighting the need to alert all stakeholders to the new brand.
Shifting focus from corporate branding to corporate rebranding, we п¬Ѓnd less research or
consensus. An early academic paper on rebranding was Berry s (1988) summary of
Ogilvy and Mather s brand revitalisation program. A common trigger for revitalising brands is
under performance (Kapferer, 1997). Using renaming, a narrow approach to rebranding, both
Muzellec et al. (2003) and Muzellec and Lambkin (2006) found that structural factors such as
mergers and acquisitions were the main drivers of rebranding, with brand image improvement
ranked lower. Before focusing on

Adolescenes Fitting In or Standing Out
Is adolescence really about fitting in or not standing out? Do you have any responsibility to those
students who don t fit in? A major part of adolescence is whether you fit it or not. This major part
decides the majority of your friends and your understandings/feelings. It s not always a bad thing
to not fit in. You don t really have a responsibility to those who do not fit in. Sometimes, they
choose not to fit in. By all means, try to include them. Try not to make them feel like they don t
belong, but this doesn t always work. In the article Childhood BullyingCan Leave Lifelong Scars an
assistant clinical professor in the department of psychiatry and behavioral sciences, William
Copeland, at Duke University in Durham, N.C. stated, If we could set up a culture in schools
where this isn t allowed to happen, then, I think there are a lot of these problems we can avoid
(Reinberg, 1). He s right the problems would be avoided, but it s impossible to completely eliminate
the bullying that makes someone feel like an outsider. Sometimes, bullying doesn t have to be
presented for someone to feel like this. At times, it s the music they enjoy or the style that they like
that causes the constant antagonization. Just being different could cause this feelingof not belonging.
Often times, people don t like something different so they will attack it. This attack could be
physical, but most times is emotional. There s always going to be that difference that someone may

Immigration Policy Of The United States
Immigration is a timely issue that took my interest, and being an immigrant it was the first topic
that came to my mind for this problem solution research paper. It is imperative that the citizens
must know that there are underlying major problems that are associated with the current
immigration policy of the country. Thus, the United Statesgovernment must address this serious
problem with the majority support of its citizens. By tackling the issue of immigration, it will not
just resolve one problem, but the elemental aspects that go along with it as well. The main objective

This solution will hinder the wrong people from coming to the country, and will discourage those
who have ill intentions of the United States and its citizens. Take into considerations the 9/11
terrorist attack. There were thousands of innocent lives perished owing to the laxity in the laws
concerning immigration. In addition, according to the article Lax Immigration Policies Invite
Terrorism , 2009 by Krikorian, he stated, Our enemies have repeatedly exercised this option of
inserting terrorists by exploiting weaknesses in our immigration system. (Krikorian 2) On the other
hand, for the second solution, a more tolerant immigration policy; Reverend Kicanas on his
testimony he argued that majority of migrants coming to the United States come not for nefarious
purposes, but to either find work to support their families or to join their loved ones. (Doak 2) This
is reality for many immigrants in America. Nevertheless, take into perspective when making the
decision that this reasoning can be an avenue for those who wish to destabilize the nation. The

Atul Gawande So Called The Itch
The Itch
Everybody has experienced a scratching sensation when something brushes against you or where
you think a spider is crawling up your skin. You immediately are sent into a rapid scratching trying
to relieve yourself from the pesky disturbance. However, when you check to see what made you
scratch, you find nothing. Even though there is nothing there, you still feel the urge to continually
scratch. It was from these scratching occurrences that sent Atul Gawande out to discover the
unexplainable theories of the so called itch. From trying to unveil the mystery of the itch, Gawande
came across that not many knew that much about the scratch. The articles definition to the scratch
was, An unpleasant sensation that provokes the desire ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gawande wrote about a woman named M. who scratched through her skull to her brain in her
sleep. The scratching only gave her momentary relief before the urge to scratch just grew bigger
making the annoyance worse. Since pain was thought to be so closely linked to itching through
nerves, M s doctors thought that the only way to get rid of the itch was to cut off the function to
the nerves where the itch was present. After losing the feeling in her face and after taking
anesthetics and antibiotics the urge to scratch still came back, becoming more of a chronic itch.
Fueling Gawande s theories about the itch, he theorized that maybe there is nothing wrong with
the nerves at all. He thought that there was something going wrong in the brain when it tells your
body that you need to scratch, when clearly you do not. After becoming more in depth with M s
case, Gawande then introduced a man named H.. H. suffered from strange symptoms of phantom
limbs. Phantom limb sensations were described as, ... far too varied and rich to be explained by
the random firings of a bruised nerve (Gawande, 2008). Gawande s theory expanded by theorizing
that the brain can t visually see that the person/self is healed when the nerve transmissions are shut

not only overcome so many obstacles, but he also is able to better himself and get educated. He
shows us readers how even if you re in a bad situation like his, nothing could stop you from
accomplishing your dream and educating yourself to become a better version of yourself.
Throughout his life Jimmy found passion for poetry. Poetry became a big part of his life, he
found out that it helped him escape his harsh reality of being in prison. Poetry became something
to aspire to live up. It informed how I saw the world and purpose to it. pg (5)
He found poetry as a tool to help him escape from everything he had been through in his life. Which
made him more knowledgeable about life and the reasoning behind everything.
Jimmy went through a lot of pain his experience would soon be the cause of a life filled with trust

hiding something that would eventually hurt me. pg (19). This shows how people are not satisfied
until they sabatoge someone else s happiness. Be careful who you trust, not everyone can be

  • 2. Panthers Football Team The New Richland Hartland Ellendale Geneva Panther football team surprised many people this year with their success. Overcoming the low expectations of many people, this team went 7 3 and won a playoff game. Many kids stepped up at their positions and gave the squad a whole new look on the season. Instead of being below average, the Panthers became a tough, play off contending teamto watch out for. Before the season started there wasn t too much confidence from anybody, not even from the coaches and players. Assistant coachof the Panther Football team, John Schultz, said I would say we probably would win about three games by beating the teams that were really down and lose to the average and above average teams. The reason the lack of confidence was their was because of how heavy they graduated. The Panthers lost their starting quarterback, fullback, two linemen, and a wide receiver. Every one of these players were key players in their six wins last season. The big question in the pre season was whether or not new faces could fill the shoes of the graduated seniors. Since these players were all talented in their own ways, it seemed impossible. Fortunately, all of these positions were filled with young players that had determination and... At this point in the game it had been raining out, the field was slippery and full of mud which made the running game even harder than before. Just the like the first two quarters, the rest of the game was played in terrible conditions. The storm had gotten so bad, lightning started late in the fourth quarter and 1:31 left of the game had to be played the next day. After a nervous filled day for the players, the final minute and a half was played and the Panthers came on top with a 6 0 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It also sows the seed of English education among the colonies which attempts to transform the indigenous people into human . The emergence of English language education and colonial rule dominates the native tongue in various spheres and in due course surpasses it. Initially, the purpose of English education is to assimilate indigenous people into the dominant mainstream English speaking society and its culture. Indirectly, the aim is to lose their Native culture and language. Besides, those attempts, later in the twentieth century English language revitalizes the strength of Native people to voice out their experiences, to register their oral tradition, folklore and history which are accessible globally now. • 6. Character Analysis Of VMAT2 LO Mice C. APPROACH. C.1. Mouse PD model to be used in this project: In VMAT2 LO, a transgenic mouse PD model, shut down of 95% endogenous vesicular monoamine transporter 2 (VMAT2) leads to a massive oxidative deamination of monoamine neurotransmitters [43], accompanied by increased oxidative stress markers and a significant decrease of antioxidant ability [44]. Therefore, oxidative damage could be the culprit for the replication of the pathogenic features of PD [45], including substantial reductions of DA and NE levels in the brain, progressive neurodegeneration in the SNpc and LC with formation of О± synuclein containing inclusions. More importantly, neuronal loss in the LC of VMAT2 LO mice starts earlier (at 12 months) and to a greater extent... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To address this possibility, SK N BE(2)M17 and MN9D cells will be exposed to 50, 100, and 200 ВµM H2O2 for 4 days (concentration course) or 200 ВµM H2O2 for 1, 2 and 4 days (time course). After several sets of exposures, cells will be harvested for different measurements: intracellular ROS by DCFH2 DA assay, reduced form of glutathione (GSH) by the fluorescent probe monochlorobimane assay, levels of Cu/Zn superoxide dismutase 1 (SOD1) by western blotting and cell viability (MTT assay), respectively. Similar experiments and measurements will be carried out in primary cultures from the mouse ventral mesencephalon and LC to verify the findings in cell lines. Anticipated results and interpretation: Based on our primary experiments, increased ROS levels and a reduced viability will be expected in noradrenergic neurons, indicating a higher vulnerability of noradrenergic neurons compared to DAergic neurons. Although most ROS are membrane permeant, O2в€’ does not generally cross cell membranes readily [52]. As the DCFH2 DA assay mainly measures O2в€’ levels [53], this methodology will provide accurately reflect the right ROS levels in the cells. We will also measure levels of the antioxidants SOD1, which catalyzes O2в€’ into O2 [54] and GSH. We expect levels of SOD1 and GSH will be lower in noradrenergic than DAergic neurons, as reduced antioxidant levels are always concomitantly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Joe And Edna Rhetorical Analysis 1. The premise of JOE AND EDNA is that Joe s inability to see past his wife s plea to strike for a better wage proves the huge misbalance of corporations and the common folk although the main argument is the disparity in hope. Edna urges that there is no money but solely for rent. You got two blondie kids...they need food and clothes (Odets 9). Joe believes that this is all they can achieve at the moment, that even if he were to rise above, it could ultimately backfire. We re averaging six seven dollars...that is something, Edna (Odets 10). It is evident that Joe s idea of surviving is too maintain stagnate. There is a yin yang effect portrayed with Joe and Edna. The yin is known as dark and negative while the yang is a representation of light and positivity. How do they fit into these symbols? It is noted throughout the entire vignette that darkness surrounds and clouds Joe s judgment, ultimately making him weak. He portrays qualities of someone who is defeated and unwilling to change. Edna represents that light/change and is the more positive character. Her strength and willingness to see through the conflict is what ultimately helps them come to a resolution. Both characters complement each other much like the yin and yang, channeling their energy to create harmony in their lives. 3. The most important issue brought in the episode is the division amongst the working class and capitalists. It is quoted that times are bad, (Odets 8) and if Joe could get another job he would. Edna makes an argument to further stress this division by saying your boss is making suckers outo you boys (Odets 10), as a way to say that his superiors don t care about him or his family. Competition amongst workers during the great depression enabled the reduction in wages or has Edna states, they ll push you down to three and four a week before you know it (Odets 10). This dialogue is what would ultimately make a reader understand that if you didn t fight for a better wage, a business would ultimately decide your fate. Companies aren t in business to pay your expenses but only to make a profit. Edna quotes, the world was supposed to be for all of us (10). It is heavily implied that communism is denounced to anyone who suggests that businesses should be in favor of the working class. Edna tries to instill the idea that what was happening to their family was morally wrong and that change is needed for their sake and for others. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Alcatraz Descriptive Writing Alcatraz; just the name sends cold chills into everyone s spine. A tiny island in the middle of the large pacific ocean. Not your typical tropical island with nice beaches and waiters walking around with food and drink in their bright white uniform, ready to serve you. This one has a rocky shore with cold water splashing on it making the horrific sound of death. The screaming noise of a fast wind adding to that is not something anyone ever wants to hear. Morning mist rising from the ocean everyday trying to swallow the whole island is no pretty sight for a prisoner. An island from prisoners can see the beautiful city of San Francisco with its bustling life and sparkling lights while their own life is stuck in dullness and darkness. A pathetic... He gained some confidence because he could actually do something. The thugs who hung out with him marvelled at his skills; some even wished that they had his talents. The unwanted kid in school was now a beloved mentor; that made it easier for his brain to forget that the marvelled activity was actually illegal. His aspirations now grew big and he started planning grander schemes to impress his buddies. He decided to leave this small town and expand his illegal activity in a bigger city. In the end he boarded a greyhound, that too in a sneaky way to avoid paying for the bus ticket, and ended up in Portland, Oregon. LJ could not contain himself as he was finally out of his bug infested home and free to do a lot of stealing, which he had a talent for. Right away this LJ found himself in a bad crowd, a gang called the House Snatchers. He was a novice but learned the trade quickly and moved up the ring quickly. There he met Crosby Banker, Gordon John, and Doro Hechter. Each one of them already had a story worth writing a book on their own. • 9. Myth Functions As A Source Of Expression In Our Lives, Myth functions as a source of expression in our lives, whether it be value, worldview or even how our very own gender roles are impacted. Myth can allow particular behavior in response to how we perceive and deal with the myth itself. If we accept the myth, we could potentially use it to cope with life in general. Though fiction, myth gives our lives this sense of an exterior, or hidden human life that is capable of giving our lives more meaning. Often times, and in the case for this paper, a sense of feminism, the symbolism of the woman warrior speaks as the theme of myth. To first compare this sense of myth into the reality of our daily lives, I d like to first look at Joseph Campbell s theory in which signififies this expression of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Or perhaps, consider the passage here, where Campbell makes it aware that from our dreams, we can begin to learn about ourselves, For example, you may be worried about whether you are going to pass an exam. Then you have a dream of some kind of failure, and you find that failure will be associated with many other failures in your life. They are all piled up together there. Freud says even the most fully expounded dream is not really fully expounded. The dream is an inexhaustible source of spiritual information about yourself. Now the level of dream of will I pass the exam? or Should I marry this girl? that is purely personal. But, on another level, the problem f passing an exam is not simply a personal problem. Everyone has to pass a threshold of some kind. That is an archetypal thing. So there is a basic mythological theme there even though it is a personal dream. These two levels the personal aspect and then the big general problem of which the person s problem is a local example are found in all cultures. For example, everyone has the problem of facing death. This is a standard mystery. From this passage, Campbell gets a bit technical and personal on a different level than we would suggest when we think of mythology. But I enjoy his perspective, how we are so intertwined with our dreams and how our memories can identify us in such a way that we are thrown off of reality. Now lending this ... There are also people that have been led down the wrong path and have faced a life of crime and sorrow. Life is short, the people of this world should not live in it afraid of the law or their community but join it! Teenagers right after highschool, wether or not if they drop out or graduate, show be enrolled in a mandatory service to get a better work ethic and a sense of love for their country. Initially, teenagers should been rolled in a civil service program to boost their work ethic. Many veterans have died serving this great nation they call their home; any son would be proud to call that man his father. They showed a great amount of patriotism and heroism to take a bullet for the red, white, and blue. If teens were forced to join a service program it would teach them to: never take their eyes off of the flag during the National Anthem, respect their president, and never lose faith in what they think is right. I once knew this old verteran, he lived down the street from me and sat on his porch every day, looking onto his yard, at the flowers. Nathan s first ETF was called SPARD (also referred to as SPIDER) and it was first traded on the American stock exchange (AMEX) by state street GA. SPARD s only purpose is to track the S P 500. The number of ETFs that track different indexes all over the world exchange markets have increased significantly since 1993. SPARD, as a first ETF, dominated the markets in the 1990s, together with CUBES, which was designed to track NASDAQ 100. The ETF is a financial product, which has attracted a large number of financial product designers. The ETF as a creative idea has opened a significant number of empty rooms on the exchange market, which needed to be filled with new ETF products. This is what attracted the financial product designers to create different types of ETFs in the last 21 years. Barclays global fund advisor introduced WEBS (world equity benchmark shares) in 1996 as a first ETF to provide American investors with easy access to the forging markets. They created a family of ETFs and each ETF had ishares as a first name and the index it followed as a second name (Ferri, 2002) . The ETF influence could first be seen in Europe, when the German Deutsche bank presented an ETF linked to commodity in 2006 (Fuchita Yasuyuki, 2007). This is simply for protection of the people working with the law. Also I will talk about the pros and cons about searches. Having search is great to protect the people like the police officers, the person that needs to be searched and people they are surrounded by. This is a great thing to do but also can be very dangerous. Some people take things to the next level to try to get away with things. Let s say someone has something on them that they shouldn t have and they get pulled over and the officer thinks they might be a danger to the community so just to be safe he ask the person to step out of his car so he can search them or the car. On 11/07/2016, Colleen Walcott made shared very interesting strategies they observed while on the field such as mini lessons strategies use at a 5th Grade Rock Cycle lesson. In my own perspective, I understand that a mini lesson is a short lesson that will teach student smaller concepts. Because each unit belong to a lager concept, students will be able to later relate smaller ideas to bigger ideas or skills. I believe as a new teacher this strategy will be very helpful. The students will have a narrow focus that will give them instruction in a skill or concept and it will allow the new teacher to be take it one at the time. Not to worry to be an amazing teacher the first day but to give the students the opportunity to grasp new skills and concepts. In addition, I was attract by the idea of using student rubrics so they can check themselves as they go. While reflecting, I did some research and asked questions to the science teacher I observed. (MOLLY) Poltergeist hauntings have been going on for a very long time. Several historical poltergeist cases have been well documented. One of the first poltergeist cases was the Thornton Heath Poltergeist Case. One August night the family was woken in the middle of the night by their radio, which had somehow turned itself on. The radio was turned to the foreign language station. At christmas time an ornament was taken off the tree by an unseen presence, and thrown a the fathers forehead. Near new years eve footsteps were heard in the attic. Accounts of poltergeist encounters have been happening since this time. Sparling is the author of the scholarly article, Without a Conceivable Future: Figuring the Mother in Alfonso Cuaron s Children of Men , in which Sparling uses her knowledge of feminist studies to give her opinions on Children of Men. In Sparlings paper she argues that in Children of Men, biopolitics have had major implications on the society and the effects of a biopolitical society have caused the female body to be viewed as a product for government control only and that the fetus gets privilege over the mother, who loses her humanity in the process. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sparling uses her knowledge of feminist studies to showcase this idea very well. Sparling emphasises the theme of biopolitics in the film and how that is in direct correlation of the treatment of the women in the film. Biopolitics is described by Michel Foucault, who coins the term, as the way in which the specific problems of life and population have been posed within a technology of government. Sparling takes this term and puts it to the film to showcase of the biopolitical nature of the movie is one where it feels as though the government, either it be the broken government at the start of the film, or the new possible government of the Human Project , ultimately, as Sparling states, Human Project is a scientific enterprise whose aim to save humanity by developing or finding a cure for infertility males it a possible site of biopower, exercising control over and disciplining individual bodies for the sake of human race. I thought that Sparlings idea of transferring power that the government has on Kee s body to just another government made sense, as in the film with the ambiguous ending we could not see the if the Human Project would treat Kee as a person or as a hostile territory Sparling agrees with this thought as a woman s body being treated as a hostile environment in this apocalyptic world. And yet the hostile environment is not merely limited to threats of terrorism, famine, natural disaster, and unsustainability; rather, this hostility is also located in the female body itself, particularly the womb, which, as we learn, can no longer sustain the fetus But if Kee s body is being looked at as a hostile territory the female body gets treated as something that women themselves have done, the female body in Cuaron s ... Through the enigmatic figure of Emily Grierson, Faulkner conveys that Emily struggles to come to terms with death, rather than accepting it she tries to overrule it. As a living testament to the past, she serves as the traditions from past decades that people wish to respect and honor; nonetheless, she is also a burden and entirely disconnected from the outside world as she sees it. The importance of tradition was very important to Emily, due to the fact that she simply could not accept change. For instance there was a scene in which the whole town had gotten there mail boxes up to date with brand new numbers affixed to the side of their house. Emily refused all of it. A Study On The Cardiac Rhythm Introduction: The electrocardiogram remains the single most important tool for interpretation of the cardiac rhythm. 1 It can be used to successfully pick up conduction abnormalities, rhythm disturbances, possible myocardial ischemia, and a slew of other abnormalities that can be linked to various cardiac or metabolic diseases. 1,2 ECGs can also be used as a preventive tool to screen for abnormalities early in the disease process. 3,4 In 1982, Italy passed a law that all individuals who want to compete in competitive sports undergo a clinical evaluation that included an assessment of family history, person history, a physical exam, and an electrocardiogram. The importance of this study was to show that mass ECG screenings can be efficiently obtained and still yield quality results when assessing for risk factors for SCA. This study reported that the cost per ECG was only $8.67, which is more proof of why ECG screening should become a standardized preventive modality. ECGs can play an essential role in monitoring the status of a patient and for recognizing trends in the patients progression. What transpired during that war changed the face of America for generations. This was not a war between countries however; this was a war between women: what they called the The Feminist Sex Wars . Anti porn feminists led by Andrea Dworkin debated with pro sex feminists on subjects such as prostitution, erotica, and pornography and their position within feminism and our society. Dworkin and her supporters argued that these were products of a patriarchal society, that these were extremely harmful toward the image and status of women. Others such as Susie Bright argue that prostitution and pornography can be feminist or empowering to women, and are not intrinsically harmful. In this paper, I will endorse the view of radical feminists that pornography is harmful, not only for those who appear in it, but those who consume it. Before we explore the topic of pornography and its harms, we must look at what radical feminism is. Radical feminism, the theory espoused by leading critic of pornography Andrea Dworkin, is the idea that women are biological class which oppressed by the dominant class of men. Patriarchal power surrounds women completely, through all media and institutions. Saint Paul is said to have been born around AD 5, and considered to have died about AD67, though the Bible does not record his death specifically. The epistles written by Paul to the churches were plainly and sharply worded. Paul s writings make up a good portion of the New Testament and demonstrate his position of prominence as an apostle of the early Church. Saint Paul was a significant contributor to the spreading of the Gospelthrough the early Christian communities, particularly through his Epistles, that were established across the Roman Empire. Paul s letters make up some of the earliest of Christian documents and, as such, they are a window into early Christianity, with all of its controversies and unpolished beliefs. The authoritative rule of the New Testament is considered to derive from Saint Paul s works Before his conversion, Paul used the name Saul and he was engaged in the persecution of Jesusearly disciples in the area around Jerusalem. In the book of Acts, the narrative tells about Saul traveling from Jerusalem to Damascus when he encountered the resurrected Jesus in a great light that blinded him for three days, until Ananias of Damascus restored his sight. Summit s line of business involves being the distributor of electronics equipment to electrical contractors, giving the company a high volume of transactions and inventory turnover (Laudon, 2013). The most important processes for Summit included stock keeping units and order transactions. As a distributer, Summit s main concern was to fulfill its orders on time. The Cause And Effects Of Climate Change And Its Causes Natural disasters have killed more than 600,000 people and left behind trillions of dollars in damages in the last two decades, the United Nations said Monday. (Chan) Extreme weather has caused millions of casualties and extreme damages over the years, but lately there has been an increase in severe weatherevents. This is causing problems in the US, with the amount of tornadoes rising in tornado alley Tennessee experienced a 67 percent increase in tornado activity in 1983 2013 compared to the 1954 1983 time period. Oklahoma experienced a nearly 35 percent decrease in tornadoes in 1983 2013 compared to 1954 1983. Climate change is defined as a change in global or regional climate patterns, in particular a change apparent from the mid to late 20th century onwards and attributed largely to the increased levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide produced by the use of fossil fuels. Climate change has happened as a cycle throughout history, with ice ages occurring, and then warming. The earth naturally warms and cools, but due to the burning of fossil fuels the rate is growing exponentially. The climate changing was first suspected in the 19th century when scientists in britain debated whether Europe was covered by ice in the past. Guy S Callender suggested that the warming trend revealed in the 19th century had been caused by a 10% increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide from the burning of fossil fuels. • 33. Emotional Intelligence Of Leaders By Daniel Goleman In Daniel Goleman s article, The emotional intelligence of leaders, he asserts that emotional intelligence not rational intelligence is what distinguishes exceptional leaders from average leaders. Biologically speaking, feelings and emotions developed in the limbic system before the development of rational thought in the cerebral cortex. Emotional intelligenceinvolves the balance and synergy between the emotional and rational centers of the human brain. Goleman, a psychologist who has written articles for the New York Times and has authored books and on behavioral science, establishes five emotional intelligence competencies required for successful leaders: self awareness, emotionmanagement, motivation of others, empathy, and staying connected. Self awareness is an understanding of how you feel and who you are; it involves the ability to listen to your deepest instincts and influences your decision making. Self aware leaders are confident, decisive, and know who they are what their strengths and weaknesses are. Emotion management is exhibiting good self control and limiting impulsive reactions. Leaders who allow themselves to be governed by anger, fear, anxiety, and sadness cannot provide effective, confident, authoritative leadership. Goleman references a Stanford University study which showed that children with better impulse control, in this case delaying gratification, outperformed their impulsive counterparts years later on the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). ... Emma s Management of Harriet s Affairs in Jane Austen s Emma In this novel, Jane Austen uses the relationship between Emma and Harriet to highlight the important issues. The main fault is her desire to control people and matchmake them. A further theme of the novel is patronage and how Emma abuses it. When Harriet refuses Mr Martin s proposal, we can see that Harriet realises that she is in no position to do so, but Emma does not realise this, portraying Emma as being quite ignorant of this issue. Mr Woodhouse Emma s father is satirised by Austen to be a worrier, and is oblivious to what goes on around him. He, therefore, does not see Emma s matchmaking and management of people. • 39. The Testament Of Isaiah And Isaiah Throughout the Old Testament God carried out his plan to bring His people back to Him. Often the people of Israel would fall away from their relationship with God by worshipping false Idols such as Baal or by disobeying His commands in general. One of the main ways God got his message of redemption to His people was via prophets, spiritually gifted individuals that God lifted up to communicate His will to the people of Israel. The prophets Jeremiah and Isaiah often were used to call Israel out on their wickedness, and to warn then of God s coming judgement that would teach them a lesson. It is clear from what the prophets wrote, that God very much intended to wipe the sins of the nation s away, one way or another. This is a message that still very much applies today, Isaiah and Jeremiah were meant to steer God s people back to Him and their messages with Christians today are supposed to do the same. Judah and Israel in their time were constantly full of sins and needing to be cleansed. In the beginning of Isaiah, he opens by stating that they were a sinful nation, A people laden with iniquity, A brood of evildoers, Children who are corrupters! They have forsaken the lord. Teachers instruct within the classroom, while researchers and scientist utilize a laboratory setting for instruction and education, while other forms of education derive from authors who communicate by the written word. One well known author and educator is Samuel L. Clemens, more commonly known as Mark Twain. Twain was born in Florida, Missouri on November 30, 1835 and utilized his childhood and adolescent experiences as a method of education. Mark Twain is powerfully depicted as an unconventional educator through his books, literature, and personal quotes. Through some of Mark Twain s books he captures much of the history in which he lived. One of the books that he has written is The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, which is based upon his memories from when he lived in Missouri (Twain, 1876). The adventures that he wrote about in this particular book actually took place in history, giving us an insight into what it was like to live in that time period. Another book that gave several details on the history in the 19th century was The Prince and the Pauper, because instead of giving insight on a personal experience, it gave insight on the class relations in which people were separated during that time (Twain, 1881). This insight gave us knowledge on how the people were categorized by their job titles. He shows the differences between the classes by writing about two young boys that switch ... The question is, what is horror really, and what makes it so good? Per definition, a horror story would be a work of fiction with the intention and purpose of giving the reader a negative feeling, such as fear, repulsion, or dread. It gives the work a frightening atmosphere. Whilst there are many subgenres of horror, the largest amount of horror stories focus on topics like death, evil, the supernatural and witchcraft.
