What is Self Image?
A person s self image can depend on many factors, to include internal/external and perceived/actual.
Their answer when asked What do you believe people think about you? can provide a very succinct
view of their self image and possibly how it is formed. The concept of self is derived from many traits
usually perceived as demographic information (gender, height, weight, race, etc.) but also other less
measurable components such as personal experiences or internalized judgements from others.
Self image may consist of three types:
1. Self image resulting from how the individual sees himself or herself.
2. Self image resulting from how others see the individual.
3. Self image resulting from how the individual perceives others see him or her.
These three types may or may not be an accurate representation of the person. All, some or none of

The day was December 30th it was a chilly day when a young artist named Betty Edwards walked into
her first class on art. I was walking alone a week prior after meeting up with some of my students that

nurse to research ways to assist a patient off ventilation, collaborate with physicians, and be aware of
the patient s condition and readiness to wean.
For some investigators, weaning success is defined as sustained spontaneous, unassisted breathing
with or without an artificial airway, and for others it is defined as sustained extubation (Cook 2000).

Sir Issac Newton s Life
Sir Issac Newton was an English physicist and mathematician. He is considered by the world as one of
the most influential scientists ever. He was born on Christmas Day in 1642. He never knew his father
since he had died before Newton was born. As a young man, his mother tried to get him to go into
farming but he hated it. Newton convinced his mother to let him go back to school and he became the
great scientist that everyone knows about today. In 1687, he published a work called Philosphiae
Naturails Principia Mathematica which is where the world first was able to read about the laws of
motion that he discovered and explained. These three physical laws would lay the foundation for
classical mechanics. They describe the relationship between a body and the forces acting upon it, and
its motion in response to those forces.
The first law states that when viewed in a inertial reference frame, an object either remains at rest or
continues to move at a constant velocity, unless acted upon by an external force. This is often referred
to as the law of inertia. What Newton means is that there is a natural tendency for objects to keep
doing what they are doing. An object at rest tends to stay at rest and an object in motion tends to stay
in motion until the object is affected by something outside of it. This is inertia. There is no way to
measure inertia but you can compare it. You can compare mass and momentum to get an idea of the
