The Drivable Suburban Domestic Policy
The drivable Suburban domestic policy is meant to be a social engineering project the United States
is much tougher to try to do than to mention. The economy lessons are learned regarding drivable
sub urban development that committed the designed atmosphere is aware of in and out zoning
code, parking ratios, and optimum densities for every property product. The Drivable sub urban
development is simple: it is single product focused, all parking is inexpensively at grade, there are
few conflicts between uses, everybody is aware of the way to couple of currently, finance is almost
automatic, and coordination, financial, and management skills, most of that do not seem to be
weighed on the market however. 5 steps that require to drivable suburbs American Dream is

ending subsidies for drivable sub urbanism. The first step changing the zoning and land use of form

The Causes And Effects Of Stress In College Students
Over the last few years, stress levels have climbed 30 percent amongst all college aged students
(Feldt, 2008). Stress is defined as A state of psychological and psychological arousal that results
when outside demands surpass a person s abilities (Zajacova, Lynch, Espenshade, 2005). The
increased pattern of stressis due to more college students determining their success based upon
materialistic measures and thinking futuristically (Zajacova et al., 2005). Unfortunately, a rise in
stress can have many adverse health outcomes for most people. Stress suppresses the immune
system, making it more difficult for your body to fight off viruses that lead to a variety of
illnesses (Straub, 2014). That being said, My Real Age Test showed my inability to manage my
stress was a large concern and will be the focus of my intervention (Sharecare, 2015).
Identifying with having a Type A personality has lead me to be driven but constantly stressed to
achieve high standards in school, and other areas of my life. Unfortunately, not without cost, my
stress has taken a major toll on my immune system. Over the last three years of college, I have
visited the health center 22 times. My stress has affected my immune system s ability to fight off a
variety of viruses from the common cold to pneumonia. Nonetheless, I want to make a positive
change by implementing mindfulness mediation into my daily routine.
Mindfulness meditation involves focusing on awareness of breathing and encouraging

Tantrums In Toddlers
At the beginning of my search, I started with the question What causes tantrums in toddlers and
how can parents handle them? I was having a hard time because I was not sure how to combine
both questions to get one answer as my thesis. In the last class session, some of my classmates
suggested me that I should just focus in only one question, instead of both. I took into consideration
their feedback. Therefore, I decided to use only one question, which is What causes temper
tantrums in toddlers? After that, I initiated my search on the web and found a lot of information
about this topic. Since the purpose of my paper is to give information about why toddlers have
temper tantrums, the hardest part was to find articles that relate to the same

Army Aviation Structure
I enjoyed your perspective and detailed breakdown of the methodology behind army aviation
structure and referencing it back to the support that army aviation operations deliver to one another
across the varying airframes and missions that they perform. The structure of army aviation entities
do allow them to be modular and tailorable to adjust to whatever mission or assignment they may
find themselves in. This view point was something I had not considered when I typed my discussion
board entry. Additionally, another aspect that was intriguing from your dissertation was the break
down between general support and direct support. You did a great job explaining the differences
when you stated, A unit assigned a DS relationship retains its command... Show more content on

An air assault is the movement of friendly assault forces by rotary wing aircraft to engage and
destroy enemy forces or to seize and hold key terrain (JP 3 18). These air assaults would not be an
air assault without the attack aviation element supporting them. Additionally, the use of Unmanned
Aircraft Systems support air assaults by providing continuous helicopter landing zone soaks prior to
infill as well as patterns of life observations. The attack aircraft that conduct quick reaction force
operations stationed at remoted forward operating bases rely on the utility and cargo aircraft to
supply ammo, fuel, POL, and parts to maintain flight operations. Again, Unmanned Aircraft
Systems work directly with the attack aviation platforms employing manned unmanned teaming
concepts in order to dispatch enemy elements. An air movement is the air transport of units,
personnel, supplies, and equipment including airdrops and air landings (JP 1 02). Security
operations are those operations undertaken by the commander to provide early and accurate
warning of enemy operations to provide the force being protected with the time and maneuver
space to react to the enemy, and to develop the situation to allow the commander to effectively
employ the protected force (ADRP 3 90). The early and accurate warnings and the intelligence that
these operations provide ensures that the air movements are traversing in as safe an environment as

Born on December 18th 1890, Edwin Armstrong was the son of John Armstrong. From an early
age Edwin showed an interest in electrical and mechanical devices. At eleven Guillemots Marconi
made the first trans Atlantic radio transmission, amazed Edwin began to study radio. Through out
Edwin s later life, he was troubled by many different events, the first was his battle for the patent of
the regenerative circuit, between him and Lee De Forest. After twenty one years and thirteen court

Marxist Criticism In David Fincher s Fight Club
Fight Club is the kind of movie that you would expect to stay on screen. But it doesn t. Many
parts of fight club are actually part of Marxism, a system of thought developed by Karl Marx.
Certain scenes connect strongly with Marxism, albeit imperfectly. In Fight Club, directed by
David Fincher, the Marxist thought of excess being a sin is portrayed through Jack s two
locations of residence, Jack s initial defense of his possessions, and the scene of Jack and Tyler
making soap from human fat. Jack initially lives a very average life. His job and life is so average
that anybody can relate to him. His apartment is decorated almost exclusively with items from the
Ikea catalogue. He tells us that he has given in to the ...Ikea nesting instinct. ... Show more content

He stole human fat and used it to make soap and sell it to department stores for twenty dollars
per bar. The narrator sees irony in this profit: We were selling rich women their own fat asses
back to them . This clever scheme presents the fraudulent nature of a consumer society. Often,
consumers are convinced they are buying something different than the object; they
unconsciously seek to purchase their ideal selves Even though liposuction merely changes
appearance, it is solely artificial. Soap represents the artificiality of society and its ability to
wash away humanity. Consumers become so engrossed with the spectacle of commodities that
they lose their humanity, trading it for possessions. The soap made by the Paper Street Soap
Company is made of the excess of the bourgeoisie. Marla asks to store a bag of fat in his freezer
because she wanted a collagen trust fund: The best kind of collagen is your own fat, sucked out
of your thighs, processed and cleaned and injected back into your lips. This stuff in the fridge at
home, it was Marla s collagen trust fund. The fat comes from her mother, someone who can
afford to do this. Only a member of the bourgeoisie would engage in such an activity, because
only a member of the bourgeoisie would afford to be able to do so. Tyler/the narrator scavenge
through medical waste dumps to find more bags of human fat which they can turn into soap.
The creation of the soap is made from the excess of the bourgeoisie. The bourgeoisie in this
aspect is reabsorbing their own excess and practicing excess at the same time, by paying twenty
dollars for soap. In turn, he sells the soap to Nordstrom s at twenty dollars per bar, an exorbitant
price for something so basic that only a member of the bourgeoisie could afford to pay. To make
matters more ironic, customers say that it is the best soap

Why Government Has Implemented Policies And Developed...
California has suffered several droughts throughout the decades and is the reason why government
has implemented policies and developed water management. The first drought recorded was in
1924, due to the severe drought and economic losses to the farming industry the irrigation system
and large reservoirs were created to support agricultureand cities (Lund). The second drought
recorded lasted six years from 1928 to 1934, at the time the construction of the Central Valley
Project became the standard design of water system until 1976 (Lund). Water conservation was
implemented when a devastating two year drought from 1976 to 1977 occurred (Lund). Water
conservation reduced water usage by 40 percent in the major cities in California and permanent
water conservation plans became established for cities(Lund). The drought from 1988 to 1992
lasted four years and raised the concern of managing water(Lund). The drought from 2007 to 2009
caused Southern California to reduced the consumption of water from the rivers and Delta water
supply(Lund ). This drought also affected the agricultural industry with the loss of approximately
21,000 job (Lund). In 2009, legislature passed a 20 percent water conservation target in the
cities(Lund). The droughts that California has endured are the reason why government has taken
action in implementing different methods of water distribution, conservation, and water
management. At the present time 41 percent of California is in

Private Prisons Essay
The concept of the prison has existed for more than two thousand years. It probably goes back as
far in time as practice of cannibalism, where victims had to wait for their turn in contributing to the
chief course in the menu of their captors. Examples of prisons can even be found in the Old
Testament when Joseph was incarcerated in Egypt. It was not until the 19th century that a clear
shift occurred from corporal punishment to imprisonment. As societies prospered and the industrial
revolution began, the formal prisonsystem, as we know it today, developed. Throughout most of the
world, the correctional system is administered by the state, and it is considered a key function that
the government must fulfill: protect its citizens by... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Segal and Moore (2002) identified about 23 U.S. cost comparison studies and fewer quality
studies. Many of those studies were of questionable value because they did not comply with
specific characteristics of meta analysis (did not have explicit comparison of private and public
facilities, the study was based on citations of other studies, few recognizable databases, among
others). The most recent review, a meta analysis by Lundahl et. al. (2009) only identified 12 studies
of cost and quality meeting their criteria for sound methodology .
According to Alex Tabarrok, privately managed facilities can have cost savings of 15 25% on
prison edification and 15% on administrative expenses. Likewise, private prisons generate
competition and exert pressure towards public prisons. They encourage public prisons to also
innovate and lower costs. Other studies (Lundahl et al. 2009, page 392) argue, prison privatization
provides neither a clear advantage nor disadvantage compared with publicly managed prisons.
The economic nature of private corporations is to be profit seeking agents whose sole focus is to
maximize shareholder value. This is a fair reason and a reason that will always exist. Detractors of
privatization and free market systems, argue that

The Adventure Of The Cardboard Box By Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
1. The Adventure of the Cardboard Box by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is a fictional short story.
There are no other possible genres this story could fall into. 2. The exposition of the story is
when Watson sets the stage by describing the weather and what he and his companion, Holmes,
were doing. According to Watson, It was a blazing hot day in August. Baker Street was like an
oven, and the glare of the sunlight upon the yellow brickwork of the house across the road was
painful to the eye. Watson was sitting at a desk reading the newspaper; while Holmes was lying
on the couch reading a letter he had received that morning. Watson became dissatisfied with
paper and tossed it aside while Sherlock read his thoughts. Holmes astounded Watson by knowing
exactly what he was thinking just by his facial features, eyes, and slight movements. After
Holmes explained how he knew what Watson was thinking, Watson said, And now that you have
explained it, I confess that I am as amazed as before. 3. But I have in my hands here a little
problem which may prove to be more difficult of solution than my small essay I thought reading.
Have you observed in the paper a short paragraph referring to the remarkable contents of a packet
sent through the post to Miss Cushing, of Cross Street, Croydon? Those particular lines are the start
of the rising action in this short story because they present the problem, which the characters must
solve. Watson then goes on to read the article in the newspaper

Cry, The Beloved Country By Alan Paton Analysis
It is no new information that God tends to take the ordinary people out of their normal lives and
make something great out of them. This is exactly what happened to Stephen Kumalo in the book
Cry, the Beloved Country by Alan Paton. It is those are are broken and imperfect that God sees
something special through. Taking these people out of their brokenness and make the world better
through them. Like all the other ordinary people that got brought up by God, Stephen Kumalo s
journey was no different. He lived an ordinary life until he got a message that forced him to change.
Although trying to ignore the change, he eventually followed God s plan. Throughout his journey,
he becomes wise as he perseveres through hard tests put up against him.... Show more content on

However, at the end when Absalom s life came to a short end, Stephen finally exclaimes, Does
he repent him, or is there only room for his fear? Is there nothing that can be done now, is there
not an angel that comes there and cries... (Paton 312). Stephen asks these questions as he prays
for Absalom explains how he finally chose to forgive him. As he asks for a second chance for
his loved son, it is too late for anything to start over. Stephen realizes his sins as his son is slowly
dying away and he did not forgive him until now. Although Stephen sinned as he let his son go as
a criminal and chose not to help him become better, he eventually repented for and with Absalom
as they are both made holy for God s purposes. Stephen Kumalo also showed sin and redemption
with Gertrude, Stephen Kumalo s sister. Because Gertrude was a prostitute, Stephen Kumalo
was outraged by the fact that his sister did such a thing. He sinned as he yells at her, You have
shamed us, he says in a low voice, not wishing to make it known to world. A liquor seller, a
prostitution, with a child and you do not know where it is? (Paton 61). He takes his anger out on
her as he did not consider how she felt.
Telling someone they are a shame to people is not what a family does for each other.
Stephen failed to portray the action of a child of God. He did not love and care for his neighbors
but instead sinned as he selfishly thought about only

Next to of Course God America I by E.E. Cummings Essay
Next to of Course God America I by E.E. Cummings
e. e. cummings poem, next to of course god america i, is a wonderful example of stylistic
variation in a text. Once again, we see his skill and mastery at manipulating the English language
in order to foreground a thought and turn it into a commentary on society. As with all of cummings
works, there is evidence of a multitude of variances and deviances at work, however, I shall
concentrate on the area of language variance, more specifically, domain.
Language variation and the area of domain, subject matter and function, are the easiest kinds of
variation to see within a text. Subject matter involves the use of lexical fields, that is to say, a
grouping of words, belonging to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, by jingo by gee by gosh by gum gives the impression that this speaker has not put any
thought into the words he speaks.
The last line of the poem shows the speaker drinking a glass of water rapidly. Why did cummings
choose to invert this line? Why does the speaker drink at all? cummings could be mentioning this
detail in an effort to portray just how irrelevant this speech really is. The adverb rapidly occurs in a
most unlikely position in this thought. If we eliminate the need for rhyming water with slaughter,
since the necessary rhyme for this poem might well have been achieved without inverting the
syntax, then cummings must have had some other reason for the inversion of the syntax. Could it
be that by writing a poem, which expresses a theme of inverted or confused philosophy, cummings
inverts his apparently objective commentary on the situation and the words in which he reports his
commentary to produce an ironic tone? This line, then, further serves to point to the inverted
philosophy of this speaker and foregrounds the insincerity and thoughtlessness behind this speech.
In this poem, carefully worked out in sonnet form, cummings pillories a Fourth of July
speechmaker by choosing patriotic and religious clichГ©s common to platform oratory and
compressing fragments of them together in order to demonstrate the meaningless emptiness that

Nature s Response To Nature In Poetry
Three poets have responded to each others poems. Christopher Marlowe, Sir Walter Raleigh, and
William Carlos Williams have said there opinions in nature s role in providing for humanity.
Marlowe had a very gentle approach with nature, while Raleigh and Williams have more of a
negative and abrasive approach toward nature s role in providing. The three poets have came and
showed their opinions through three individual poems.
Marlowe, who wrote The passionate Shepherd to his Love , has a very positive connection to nature.
In his poem he says A cap of flowers, and a kirtle embroidered all with leaves of myrtle. This
means how he wants the kirtle embroidered all with the finest leaves of myrtle for his love. The
way that he describes nature shows his great interest at the time with nature. The way he uses
gentle and tranquil words to describe nature shows his soft relationship. All of the gifts that tries
to persuade his love with all have a relation to nature. For example, the gown that he offers will
be made from the finest wool from a pretty lamb. Another example is how Marlowe talks about
how he is going to make her a bed of roses, yet another reference to nature to persuade his love in
coming to be with him. In addition, Marlowe s structure of the poem is also very important to the
meaning of the poem. Marlowe s poem has six stanzas that each contain four lines. The poem meter
is stressed unstressed, and the rhyme scheme of the poem is AABB. In his poem, you will also find
how Marlowe uses alliteration in his poem. The alliteration in the poem helps to describe all of the
wonderful things in nature that he is trying to persuade his love with. An example of this is when
he talks about them sitting upon the rocks and seeing the flocks. The ock repetition of consonant
sound helps get the point across that the author has a positive connection with nature and his
persuasion of his love.
Raleigh wrote The Nymph s Reply to the Shepherd . His connection toward nature is very
negative in a way. Raleigh s viewpoint on nature is very rough and abrasive toward Marlowe. In his
poem/response his says When rivers rage and rocks grow cold. The words that he uses also show
how his viewpoint on nature is very

Lyndon B. Johnson made the Vietnam War his own by escalation and the involvement of the

In the early 1960s after the war there was an economic boom in the United States that caused people
to move out of the city to the suburbs. To make suburban homes the constructions sites would
demolish forests and would contaminate waterways. This lead to Rachel Carson s book Silent
Spring which exposed the environmental problems caused by the economic growth. This book
brought awareness to the environmental impacts that were happening because of the economic
growth. Carson s book started the environmental movement. It made Americans question the quality
of life which concerned American s and they made movements that would help the to preserve and
restore the environment. This movement was a part of the rights revolution because in the 1960s
the supreme court was expanding the rights of American s and one of them was to be preserving
the environment. They were able to get laws passed like the Clean Air and Clean Water Acts and
Endangered Species Act. The rights revolution fought several cases that overturned laws made in
the past for example they made it legal to have interracial marriages. So the environmental
movement was a part of the revolution because it was a case where Americans wanted to protect the
environment from contamination from fertilizers and deforestation that were happening because of

My Dad s Job At Texas
I bolted out of the house and ran into the car as fast as my legs could carry me. I dropped my
suitcase in the trunk of the car. I slammed the door and fell onto the backseat of the car. As I look
out of the window, my heart is beating at one hundred miles an hour. This is actually happening.
My family and I were moving from Boston, Massachusetts to Houston, Texas. My Dad s job was
relocating to Houston, Texas because of better resources for the company. I was going to have a
new house, new friends, and a new school. Everything was going to be new and different. Sadly,
moving is not as fun and exciting as it seems. It s as sad as a kid without candy. I m on my way
to the airport and as I am sitting in the backseat of the car, I realize that I am actually moving to a
new place, a new home, a new state. I feel like a turtle without its shell. I think to myself as all
my memories of living in Boston flash before my eyes. I think about all the snow that has fallen in
my yard, and how much snow I am going to miss considering the fact that there is no snow in
Houston. I also think about all my familyand friends I am leaving behind. I m going to miss Boston
so much. As I look out of the car window for the last time, everything looks blurry, and unclear, my
eyes fill with tears. A tear runs down my cheek, and soon, many more tears follow it. I feel like a
baby that is cryingbecause it is hungry. My stomach is churning and my heart is beating at one

Biography of Edgar Allan Poe
There are two bodies the rudimental and the complete; corresponding with the two conditions of
the worm and the butterfly. What we call death, is but the painful metamorphosis. Edgar Allan
Poe was a poet who grew up with theater in his blood and who became known for his style of
literature. First I will inform you of his birth along with his parents, then I will tell you about his

Edgar Allen Poe was born on January 19, 1809 in a cheap rooming house near the Boston Common.

Since we have talked about his childhood along with his adulthood, let s move onto to his later
years and his death
Edgar Allan Poe passed away on October 7, 1849 at the age of 40 in Baltimore, Maryland.
Walsh, the author of The Mysterious Death Of Edgar Allan Poe, said that The Immediate Cause of
death given was congestion of the brain, or inflammation of the brain, catch all medical phrases of
the day.
In his own time and even decades later, no one really questioned the verdict that the culprit was
liquor.
No one seriously questioned that Poe died as a result of complications arising from a drunken
debauch (de batch).
Drunkenness explained all, it was decided; otherwise, if Poe had been found in extreme distress in
a public place, that standard procedure would have been followed, and much more would now be
known.
What was assumed was some sort of physiological or orthostatic collapse.
Science in that day was unable to define it further.
There is a lot of theories on how he died:
A fatal heart condition of long standing was postulated, as was epilepsy, as well as a diabetic coma

Jean Piaget was interested in how an organism adapt to its environment. And Individual behavior is
controlled through mental organization called Schema or Schemata. As indicated by Jean Piaget,

most admirable additions to the Child Psychology. As Jean Piaget stated children think and reason

Odysseus Intellectual Development Throughout His Journey
Odysseus develops throughout his journey in many ways both spiritually and physically. These
developments help him adapt to his surroundings and transform him into a better person.
Throughout the epic poem, Odysseus entire person is reconstructed from that of a soldier in the
Trojan War to a versatile hero, whose development of mental, spiritual, emotional, and intellectual
aptitude is higher than his contemporaries . Odysseusintellectual development in The Odysseyis a
returning subject regularly as his journey unfolds. From the beginning of his journey, Odysseus

The reader can see that Odysseus mental capacity is recognized by the people around him. His
spirit is uncontainable no matter the situation. It is only at his weakest point in his journey,
when he is trapped on Calypsos island, that the hero s mental will begins to waver. By the days
found him sitting on the rocks or sands, torturing himself with tears, groans and heartache, and
looking out with streaming eyes across the watery wilderness (Homer, 67). His will is
threatened by his disconsolate attitude towards being a prisoner for more than 10 years on
Calypso island. However, this moment of weakness only brings to light the fact that the hero is
human, and though his mental support is fallible, it still develops beyond the point of normal
human capability. Throughout Odysseus adventurous endeavors, he is kept mentally and
physically toned by his belief in the Greek gods and their help. This spiritual growth leads him
to call out to Zeus for the blessing that will warrant his safe return home when he is leaving the
Phaeacians to embark on his last voyage home. I do indeed pray to Zeus the Thunderer, husband
or Hera, to let me reach my home and see the day of my return (Homer, 106). It becomes apparent
that Odysseus; reliance on the help and blessing from the gods is what reassures him in his time of
suffering. Eventually, his spiritual development reaches a point where he

through. I was not going to let Roger and Anita win. Horace and Jasper had brought their
enormous van and I prepared the the blankets and cages for the newborn puppies. The day had

Generation Gap Between Mother And Daughter
I feel that the relationship between mother and daughter is a strained one, with the obvious love
and care for each other marred by the obvious generation gap between the two, the lack of
understanding and perspective and fixed expectations that the mother sets.
Firstly, the mother sets fixed expectations for her daughter. As seen in the start of the passage, she
has already planned out her daughter s future and expects her to follow it, thinking about how
now (her daughter) can be a doctor, make big money, find a good husband . She also tells Ah Kow
that her daughter was going to be a GP without confirming with her if that was what she really
wanted. It would be undeniable to say that this was a stereotypical mindset for all mothers to have,
as they would definitely want the best for their daughters. It shows the care and concern ... Show

The differences between two generations become apparent when the mother talks about the lantern
that the daughter lost years ago. On one hand, the mother is still upset about the lost of the lantern
but the daughter however, is confused as to why she is bringing it up and asks her to forget about
it, and instead desperately tries to convince her. In the end, the mother says to the daughter, Your
problem is that you don t value what you have. You have something valuable, but when you lost it,
you say Forget it, never mind. When I lose something, it makes me gek sim, for always. The
daughter, being inexperienced and young, has not gone through the hardships or challenges that the
mother has. This makes it difficult for her to understand true value of things, just telling herself to
forget about it. The mother is afraid that the daughter would suffer without the guidance of her
parents as she is still foolish and has not experienced life s hardship but the daughter does not
understand why the mother is being so worried, thus causing their relationship to be further

Pablo Neruda
When considering authors for a World Literature course, there are multiple things to consider. You
have to think about how their work represent their home country, what topics they discuss
through their work, the emotions they convey, etc. You also have to look at the author s personal
life. What influences the authors writing? What are some factors through the author s life that
makes them write about a certain topic? One author that would really be important in a World
Literature course is the poet, Pablo Neruda. Pablo Neruda was a poet, but he was also a
politician. Pablo used his writing to express a lot of his feelings and emotions. Pablo discussed
both emotional and political topics in his poems. Pablo Neruda even won the Nobel Prizefor his
poetry. But what influenced Neruda and his writing? Factors such as his home country, people he
met, and his political career played major roles in influencing Pablo Neruda to write so many of the
wonderful poems we know and love today. Pablo Neruda was born July 12, 1904, in the town of
Parral in Chile. He was born NeftalГ Ricardo Reyes Basoalto, but later he legally switched his
birth name to his pen name, Pablo Neruda. His father was JosГ© del Carmen Reyes Morales, a
railway employee and his mother was Rosa Basoalto, a school teacher. Pablo s mother sadly
passed away from tuberculosis two months after giving birth to him. Soon after Pablo s mother

As a result, Africa s cultural identity has been what sociologist Ulf Hannerz calls creolized (6),
which, as seen in the history of soccer, can be yet another facet for neo colonialism. From these
roots of colonialism and neo colonialism grew the sport of soccer. Initially, in the 1860s it was
introduced by Britain in South Africa (Armstrong Football 8) and other countries, such as France
and Portugal, followed in other regions. Associated colonizing individuals and groups including
missionaries, teachers, soldiers, and other colonial settlers acted as prime catalysts (8). Africans
would watch white Europeans play and then apply what they learned in their own local township
games using bundles of rags as makeshift balls (9). Teams and leagues were formed, as were
rivalries, different styles of play, and different philosophies on the game. In 1923, African football
began to be recognized internationally as a rising power when Egypt was accepted into the

Why The Jezreel Journey To Israel
Journey to Israel
This summer, I took part in The Jezreel Expedition trip to Israel as part of the Archaeology of
Ancient Israel in Action class. The journey to Israel is an experience that no student should pass
up. It was an opportunity to visit the Holy Land and marvel at the historic sites. Some of the
places toured ranged from The Church of the Nativity, Golgotha, The Western Wall, Caesarea,
Mount of the Beatitudes, Sea of Galilee, Megiddo, Jezreel, to name a few. The feeling of reverence
when touring these sites is indescribable. To be in the locations where Jesus walked and taught was
phenomenal. The Hebrew Bible known as the Old Testament is the source of ancient Judaism
narratives. Therefore, as a Christian and pastor,

Similarities Between Greeks And Trojans
Greeks and Trojans
The Iliad is a book full of poems that talk about the history of Trojans and Greeks. Within the
Iliad, there is a strong urge to show a world in which was are tremendous and the gods have
direct hand in human events and these deities influence fate. The two leading gods, Achillies and
Aeneas, the reader can see the ways in which these two cultural problems entwine and try to
create an image of the ancient world which is at once barbarously real in terms of the depiction of
not just the glory, but also the horrors of war which are filled with supernatural and mystical
figures called the gods.
Each of the main characters are selected by the gods in some ways but however gained favor not
only because of who they are and of their birth but also are fated to prove themselves as a true
warrior and to fulfill certain expectations to prove to see if they are worthy or not.
The gods in the Iliad are manifested not just to have a direct hand in the lives of mortals, but
moreover to be picky about whom they would like to help. Greek religion held powers and fears
of all kinds so therefore the reasons behind their motivation and resolutions is not like the
modern Christian notion where they think that whoever deserves to have the honor will be it.
From what I have read to see, its gods were within the world, one that they did not create. Power
such as gods, spirits and nymphs did not die but yet were born. The Greek gods were immortal and

Figurative Language In Ozymandias
Can one person truly immortalize himself? This is a question most people are often plagued with.
Although one s body is mortal, Ozymandias, written by Shelley, conveys the truth of immortality.
The poem is about a traveler telling a story about an Egyptian pharaoh,
Ozymandias, and his statue. In the poem, a statue of Ozymandias is described by the author as
crumbled and scarcely left. Even though he was successful in his time period, his legacy could not
last. Therefore, no matter how much power one holds, his work will eventually be forgotten to all
and left in the past. Nothing truly can remain throughout all of time: everything one built will
eventually be destroyed by time. The idea that power is transient is portrayed through
Shelley s use of irony, symbolism, and figurative language.
Irony is extremely prevalent in this poem, contrasting power and mortality. Throughout this piece,
the author describes Ozymandias as a ruthless and powerful Egyptian ruler, but continually relates
back to the current state of his achievements. For instance, the engraving on
Ozymandias s statue states,
My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings:
Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!
Sarah Kelley: good title
Sarah Kelley: citation needed
Labas 2
The author dictates that Ozymandias was attempting for his statue to be a symbol of strength.
This is evident through how he views himself, as the King of Kings , and how he tells people that
view the statue that they must look at everything he has accomplished and cower before his power.
However, there is nothing left of his work, except for his crumbling statue and his kingdom of
ruins. This use of irony strengthens the idea that power is transient because
Ozymandias was extremely feared and he held a massive amount of authority. Nevertheless, all that
he succeeded in building played victim to the cruel hands of time. The irony transforms the tone of
the poem from prideful to pitiful.
Furthermore, symbolism plays a huge part in this poem. One of the main symbols in this piece
was the sand. Shelley mentions the sand multiple times to draw emphasis to it, and pairs it with
words such as stretch and level . These words pertain to time, and one can assume the sand is
referring

Tupac Amaru Shakur came into the world on June 16, 1971 in Brooklyn, New York. While

Graham Greene s Use of Characterization in A Little Place off the Edgware Road
In A little place off the Edgware Road there are two focal characters. We learn the name of only
one of these characters and the other remains unnamed throughout the story. This is the first
interesting thing about Greene s use of characterization. By not naming one of the characters we
see him as more mysterious and it helps us to realise at the end that he is just a figment of Craven
s imagination. Greene writes in the third person rather than giving us the ultimate insight into
Craven s head by writing in the first person. This also gives us a certain distance from Craven and
this is much like real life as we always ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Recent research on the life of Graham Greene has shown that he hired many prostitutes. This is
reflected in Craven s view that you need money for love, which is what Greene also believed.
Craven is also losing his faith in God.. He asks himself, Why should he be asked to believe in the
resurrection of this body he wanted to forget? We also get the impression from this Craven might
be old and his body decaying. But this decay of his body is not merely in the physical sense. It has
a spiritual meaning too. In the Christian religion resurrection of the body upon the return of Christ
is an important theme. Again this is interesting because it gives us another insight into Greene

Craven finds posters advertising a theatre which is showing a film. This theatre is much like
Craven. Old, decaying and tired. The film he goes to see is about death and suicide. I think that the
fact that this is the only film that is showing is meant to show that death is inevitable and
unavoidable and there is no choice about it, it just happens. There is an interesting line from the
film Craven is watching which says, I am not afraid of death, Lucius in your

Burke And Anna s Life In Hungary
Life in Hungary
Living in Europe was a dream of Burke and Anna s. An opportunity in 2011 to teach young
children in Hungary to speak English was just what they needed to pack their bags and move to
Hungary for 6 months. They became volunteer teachers for local schools in Hungary. Burke and
Anna taught children of all different ages.
They stayed in the city of Szeged, Hungary. The apartment they were living in was very large and
inexpensive for the size of the apartment, however it was very outdated. Living in Hungary was a
very different experience for Burke and Anna. For example, they were perplexed when they found
that the washing machine was in the bathroom. Washing their clothing was something they had
never heard of before. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I asked them if they met anyone special in there time spent in Hungary. They responded by
telling me a story about a boy named Norby. Norby was one of the young children they taught.
While learning English Norby could be described as Tigger, always excited and having so much
to say. His dream was to work for the Peace Corps and he knew he needed to be a great English
speaker to do so. according to Burke and Anna. Norby would talk to Burke and Anna as much as
possible. One time he even invited them to dinner at his house. Burke and Anna gladly agreed to
to have dinner with Norby and his family. Something they learned about Norby was he was the
only one in his family that spoke English. We did our best to communicate with them and, by the
end, we were all laughing and having a great time together, even though we couldn t actually
speak the same language. It is one of our favorite memories from our time there. Burke and Anna
said. It is important when traveling the world to meet new people. Meeting new people especially
in a different country can open your eyes to lots of new experiences and you can also learn so
many new things.
Burke and Anna experienced so many special moments during their 6 month stay in Hungary. One
in particular moment that stood out to them is a time to a Hungarian dog show. One of the
teachers from their school had a dog competing. In Hungary they have so many dog breeds that
Burke and Anna never heard of before. They had so much fun and saw super cute dogs. That was
one of Burke and Anna s most memorable experiences from staying in

Should Music With Curse Words Be Allowed At School Dances
Jesse Brock
Mr. Bertelsen

10 November 2016
Should music with curse words be allowed at school dances?
I think that music with curse words should be allowed in school dances. I think this because
usually songs without a couple curse words don t have a good beat. Songs with curse words have
a really good beat. Without a good beat the mood at the dance isn t very high because there is
nothing to dance to. Our school usually has a killer dance. There is a lot of people that are dancing
and in the gym. When a bad song comes on that doesn t have a beat or any curse words, everyone
goes into the lobby. They do this because the song flat out stinks. When they hear a good song
come back on they meander their way back to the gym to

Argumentative Essay About Diet Soda
In conclusion, there is nothing healthy about diet soda and it is simply water with artificial
sweeteners and other additives, especially phosphoric acid. So the less soda you drink, the
better. In addition, people should not keep sodas in their home such as refrigerator because it is
a big temptation. Instead, people can put healthier options include fresh juice, low fat milk,
green tea, hot chocolate, and ginger tea. Moreover, people should drink more water instead of
reaching for diet soda. Liquid helps human s body get rid of toxins that can cause a big risk for
diseases like cancer. As you know, water has zero calories so it is one of the healthiest ways for
people to stay hydrated. According to my research, people should drink at least

Trash Pollution In Guatemala
RoatГЎn Island off the edge of Guatemala has recently discovered a five mile long pile of trash.
The heavy rains from the hurricanes this past fall is where this trash has come from. Guatemala s
government doesn t have a formal garbage collection. RoatГЎn Island is located about fifteen miles
off the edge of Guatemala. Trash pollutionis becoming worse and worse in the Caribbean. Trash in
ocean is harming more than 600 species worldwide. From what we can tell from the photos of the
trash in RoatГЎn that the trash is anything from plastic bags to leather. Guatemalan people aren t
disposing of their trash correctly; all they do is juts pile their trash up on the side of the riverbanks
and when the rain comes and washes it into the water and then ends up in the ocean. The
government has got to get a fund/organization to get this problem taken care of.

How Taxol Interrupts The Cell Cycle
Research Report 1James Elliott Spring 2016
Article Reported:
Magidson V, He J, Ault JG, O Connell CB, Yang N, Tikhonenko I, McEwen BF, Sui H, Khodjakov
A. 2016. Unattached kinetochores rather than intrakinetochore tension arrest mitosis in taxol
treated cells. J Cell Biol. 212 (3): 307 319. Accessed 8 Feb 2016. doi: 10.1083/jcb.201412139
I. Paper Review
A. Background and Key Question
This article was about a study performed by scientists looking to investigate the mechanism of how
Taxol interrupts the cell cycle. The interval often referred to as the spindle apparatuscheckpoint is
without a doubt the time frame where Taxol acts, as it is an antimicrotubule drug that is cell cycle
specific. It is understood that the structure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To make the specimen compatible with both forms of advanced microscopy, they sufficiently
prepared samples by coupling the specimen with a fluorescence that was also conductive. This
technique was accomplished with the FlouroNanogold label, which contains gold nanoparticles
covalently bonded to a fluorescence label. That way, the LM worked as well as the EM for the
same set of kinetochores that were being studied. The Hec1 protein was stained in this case because
this protein naturally delineates the structures to be studied.
C. Describe One Specific Result
The orientation between the kinetochores with respect to centromeres (kTilt) was of a larger
degree in the Taxol treated cells in comparison to the cells progressing through metaphase
normally. There was a 16В° increase from 10В° to 26В° when cells were treated with Taxol.
D. What are the major conclusions/implications of this work?
This was a multifaceted study that simply is not given justice by my review that is limited to two
pages. Through this study, the scientists believed that the data validated that kinetochores are
significantly influenced by the Taxol treatment. This interpretation was inferred from the results in
differences in Delta (distance between Hec1 and CenpT labels within kinetochores), cTilt (angle of
centromeres from the spindles), and kTilt (angle of the kinetochores with respect to centromeres).
One of these results was described above in

Correlation Between Food And Sucrose
First off, let s explore the two sugars that are consumed the most. The first is sucrose. Sucrose is
the sugar that we inquire on our kitchen tables and use to sweeten bland foods such as cereal and
coffee to help brighten the taste. What many people may not know is that the prepackaged meals
we are making for a quick lunch or dinner are loaded with sucrose. Sucrose if heated very
carefully and at the right temperature will turn into caramel. This process is called caramelization
as the crystallized sucrose breaks down into several different sugartypes it will give you the taste
and color of caramel (Lustig). The next time you eat a bullseye or have a caramel covered apple

Health Care Delivery Needs Provide Clinical Nurse...
Unpredictable care delivery needs provide clinical nurse specialists with unique and interesting
daily responsibilities. The role is the ideal career for nursing professionals who enjoy variety and
challenge. Due to their enhanced skill sets and responsibilities, clinical nurse specialists make
significant impacts on caregiving. Nursing professionals choosing this career shape organizational
policies and procedures, and for half a century have led the caregiving community through many
innovations. Historically, the medical community made little effort to distinguish the clinical nurse
specialistand nurse practitionerrole. However, society s reliance on nurse practitioners to fill the
United Statesphysician shortage now requires state boards to delineate the disciplines for regulatory
reasons.
No Two Days Are the Same
Clinical nurse specialists (CNSs) typically perform varying tasks each day. [1] Some begin their day
reviewing calls from clients. Throughout the day, they arrange patient prescriptions and consult
with patients. At times, CNSs make hospital stay arrangements and visit clients to check on their
condition or encourage them before complex surgeries.
Clinical nurse specialists also attend to client families by providing support and relaying patient
status updates. They meet with consultants on behalf of patients to determine potential action plans.
CNSs also review patient tests and historical vital statistics to monitor client conditions. Using this

The Principle Of Equity Within The World Of Doctrine, Not...
Equity is a source of law which is based on flexible principles to supplement the common law, and
thereby alleviating the harshness. Lord Scarman once described the principle of equity in National
Westminster Bank PLC v Morgan as a world of doctrine, not of neat and tidy rules which
emphasises its rigidity nature to provide its flexibility. As Alastair Hudson noted , many different
doctrines fit inside English equity which introduce a more systematic approach to the common law.
It is important to examine equity s historical development to recognize the root of how it was
formed and used, and how it still serves a purpose within the modern legal system.
When discussing the history of equity, it is imperative to go back to the 12th century where the
King and his courtiers would travel around the country to settle disputes and collect the citizen s
taxes. During this time, the King s Chancellor would advise the King and his Council on these
matters. Due to this, he became known as the King s conscience. Where the use of the common
law to settle a dispute proved to be unjustified, the Chancellor would provide a just remedy. In this
way, the King s common law became well founded, and the concept of equity was formed.
Common law suits were known to be inflexible, as the common law only provided one type of
remedy, damages, which was not always an adequate solution to every problem . Some litigants
grew dissatisfied with the system and petitioned to the King. However, all of

In this regard, the manager had instituted a companywide team building initiative that is aimed at

effectiveness of such training is closely linked to the goals, outcomes and implementation.
There instances where the manager fails to effectively communicate to the employees. Blunt is an

society allows them to enjoy (Biddle, 2012). The manager is ineffective in communicating to this
section of the work force as they have trouble reconciling their traditional roles and their new found
duties. Communication is a very critical

The Oklahoma City Zoo first opened its doors at Wheeler Park in 1902. It started out as a small

to the zoo. They were amazed that they could stand a few feet away from a live animal without
fearing for their lives. By 1909, the Oklahoma City Zoohad over 100 animals. The zoo was a
triumph! Unfortunately, disaster struck in 1923. A disastrous and tragic flood had occurred at
Wheeler Park and caused the zoo to move to Lincoln Park. The very next year, a fatal fire spread
throughout Lincoln Park. Miraculously, many small areas of the park survived the fire. However,
the zoo was reconstructed on another 17 acres at the park. A director was also hired and new
exhibits were built including the Botanical Garden and the Zoo Amphitheatre. The Oklahoma City

The Negative Impact of Conglomeration of Media Companies...
Wedian Ibrahim May 13, 2012 The Negative Impact of Conglomeration of Media Companies on
Audiences The word conglomeration is defined as the formation of a large company by the
merging of separate and diverse small firms. Media conglomerate is a large company or
corporation formed by merging of different small media outlets such as TV, radio, newspapers, and
internet. Big companies tend to buy out other smaller companies in the market to increase their
revenue by increasing their viewership, and to control the smaller companies resources. This creates
media oligopoly by which few firms dominate the market. This media conglomeration is threatening

With the closure of the Reporter in 2003, the city of Cambridge lost its oldest local news
coverage source in Southern Ontario. Some criticizers claim that Torstar closed the Reporter to

president of regulatory affairs for both the network and its telecommunications parent, BCE Inc,
says We won t continue to fund chronically unprofitable stations, tiny stations in tiny little towns.
(Sturgeon 1) . With the closure of many local media outlets lots of employees will be left
unemployed. In 2009, 1000 journalists lost their jobs in local newspapers in Northcliffe in the
United Kingdome because Northcliffe Media Company lost 37% of these newspapers
advertising revenue (Toynbee 1). Also, Guardian Media Group closed 153 of its local newsroom
in the same year (Toynbee 1). In conclusion, conglomeration of media needs lots of attention as it
is threatening democracy in Canada. Conglomeration of media made corporations care about the
business part of the media more than the ethics of the profession. Conglomeration of media also
caused media bias and loss of objectivity in delivering the news to the public. Finally,

Piaget s Stages Of Cognitive Analysis
The topic that I found interesting from the semester so far is object permanence from the
sensorimotor stage of Piaget s Stages of Cognitive Development. This is interesting to me
because over a week ago, at the local county fair in my hometown, I happened to see this concept
be used in action with a cousin of mine that happened to be two years old. While at a family
gathering at the fair, I witnessed the father of my little cousin hide a ball behind his back that the
child had just had in his hands. When this was done, the child had no idea that there even was a
ball anymore. At the time, I had thought nothing of the situation. It was not until we started to learn
and read about certain concepts that I realized this could relate to what we were learning. I thought
that this was ironic that I would see such an event happen that I could connect back to our class
discussions. This concept of object permanencecan be found in our book in chapter 2. In chapter 2,
there is information presented about Piaget s Stages of Cognitive Development. In connection to
the event that I had seen, the child... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

  • 3. The Causes And Effects Of Stress In College Students Over the last few years, stress levels have climbed 30 percent amongst all college aged students (Feldt, 2008). Stress is defined as A state of psychological and psychological arousal that results when outside demands surpass a person s abilities (Zajacova, Lynch, Espenshade, 2005). The increased pattern of stressis due to more college students determining their success based upon materialistic measures and thinking futuristically (Zajacova et al., 2005). Unfortunately, a rise in stress can have many adverse health outcomes for most people. Stress suppresses the immune system, making it more difficult for your body to fight off viruses that lead to a variety of illnesses (Straub, 2014). That being said, My Real Age Test showed my inability to manage my stress was a large concern and will be the focus of my intervention (Sharecare, 2015). Identifying with having a Type A personality has lead me to be driven but constantly stressed to achieve high standards in school, and other areas of my life. Unfortunately, not without cost, my stress has taken a major toll on my immune system. Over the last three years of college, I have visited the health center 22 times. My stress has affected my immune system s ability to fight off a variety of viruses from the common cold to pneumonia. Nonetheless, I want to make a positive change by implementing mindfulness mediation into my daily routine. Mindfulness meditation involves focusing on awareness of breathing and encouraging ... • 4. Tantrums In Toddlers At the beginning of my search, I started with the question What causes tantrums in toddlers and how can parents handle them? I was having a hard time because I was not sure how to combine both questions to get one answer as my thesis. In the last class session, some of my classmates suggested me that I should just focus in only one question, instead of both. I took into consideration their feedback. Therefore, I decided to use only one question, which is What causes temper tantrums in toddlers? After that, I initiated my search on the web and found a lot of information about this topic. Since the purpose of my paper is to give information about why toddlers have temper tantrums, the hardest part was to find articles that relate to the same ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Army Aviation Structure I enjoyed your perspective and detailed breakdown of the methodology behind army aviation structure and referencing it back to the support that army aviation operations deliver to one another across the varying airframes and missions that they perform. The structure of army aviation entities do allow them to be modular and tailorable to adjust to whatever mission or assignment they may find themselves in. This view point was something I had not considered when I typed my discussion board entry. Additionally, another aspect that was intriguing from your dissertation was the break down between general support and direct support. You did a great job explaining the differences when you stated, A unit assigned a DS relationship retains its command... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An air assault is the movement of friendly assault forces by rotary wing aircraft to engage and destroy enemy forces or to seize and hold key terrain (JP 3 18). These air assaults would not be an air assault without the attack aviation element supporting them. Additionally, the use of Unmanned Aircraft Systems support air assaults by providing continuous helicopter landing zone soaks prior to infill as well as patterns of life observations. The attack aircraft that conduct quick reaction force operations stationed at remoted forward operating bases rely on the utility and cargo aircraft to supply ammo, fuel, POL, and parts to maintain flight operations. Again, Unmanned Aircraft Systems work directly with the attack aviation platforms employing manned unmanned teaming concepts in order to dispatch enemy elements. An air movement is the air transport of units, personnel, supplies, and equipment including airdrops and air landings (JP 1 02). Security operations are those operations undertaken by the commander to provide early and accurate warning of enemy operations to provide the force being protected with the time and maneuver space to react to the enemy, and to develop the situation to allow the commander to effectively employ the protected force (ADRP 3 90). • 7. Marxist Criticism In David Fincher s Fight Club Fight Club is the kind of movie that you would expect to stay on screen. But it doesn t. Many parts of fight club are actually part of Marxism, a system of thought developed by Karl Marx. Certain scenes connect strongly with Marxism, albeit imperfectly. In Fight Club, directed by David Fincher, the Marxist thought of excess being a sin is portrayed through Jack s two locations of residence, Jack s initial defense of his possessions, and the scene of Jack and Tyler making soap from human fat. Jack initially lives a very average life. His job and life is so average that anybody can relate to him. His apartment is decorated almost exclusively with items from the Ikea catalogue. He stole human fat and used it to make soap and sell it to department stores for twenty dollars per bar. The narrator sees irony in this profit: We were selling rich women their own fat asses back to them . This clever scheme presents the fraudulent nature of a consumer society. Often, consumers are convinced they are buying something different than the object; they unconsciously seek to purchase their ideal selves Even though liposuction merely changes appearance, it is solely artificial. Soap represents the artificiality of society and its ability to wash away humanity. Consumers become so engrossed with the spectacle of commodities that they lose their humanity, trading it for possessions. The soap made by the Paper Street Soap Company is made of the excess of the bourgeoisie. Marla asks to store a bag of fat in his freezer because she wanted a collagen trust fund: The best kind of collagen is your own fat, sucked out of your thighs, processed and cleaned and injected back into your lips. This stuff in the fridge at home, it was Marla s collagen trust fund. The fat comes from her mother, someone who can afford to do this. Only a member of the bourgeoisie would engage in such an activity, because only a member of the bourgeoisie would afford to be able to do so. Tyler/the narrator scavenge through medical waste dumps to find more bags of human fat which they can turn into soap. The creation of the soap is made from the excess of the bourgeoisie. The bourgeoisie in this aspect is reabsorbing their own excess and practicing excess at the same time, by paying twenty dollars for soap. In turn, he sells the soap to Nordstrom s at twenty dollars per bar, an exorbitant price for something so basic that only a member of the bourgeoisie could afford to pay. To make matters more ironic, customers say that it is the best soap ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Why Government Has Implemented Policies And Developed... California has suffered several droughts throughout the decades and is the reason why government has implemented policies and developed water management. The first drought recorded was in 1924, due to the severe drought and economic losses to the farming industry the irrigation system and large reservoirs were created to support agricultureand cities (Lund). The second drought recorded lasted six years from 1928 to 1934, at the time the construction of the Central Valley Project became the standard design of water system until 1976 (Lund). Water conservation was implemented when a devastating two year drought from 1976 to 1977 occurred (Lund). Water conservation reduced water usage by 40 percent in the major cities in California and permanent water conservation plans became established for cities(Lund). The drought from 1988 to 1992 lasted four years and raised the concern of managing water(Lund). The drought from 2007 to 2009 caused Southern California to reduced the consumption of water from the rivers and Delta water supply(Lund ). This drought also affected the agricultural industry with the loss of approximately 21,000 job (Lund). In 2009, legislature passed a 20 percent water conservation target in the cities(Lund). The droughts that California has endured are the reason why government has taken action in implementing different methods of water distribution, conservation, and water management. • 9. Private Prisons Essay The concept of the prison has existed for more than two thousand years. It probably goes back as far in time as practice of cannibalism, where victims had to wait for their turn in contributing to the chief course in the menu of their captors. Examples of prisons can even be found in the Old Testament when Joseph was incarcerated in Egypt. It was not until the 19th century that a clear shift occurred from corporal punishment to imprisonment. As societies prospered and the industrial revolution began, the formal prisonsystem, as we know it today, developed. Throughout most of the world, the correctional system is administered by the state, and it is considered a key function that the government must fulfill: protect its citizens by... Many of those studies were of questionable value because they did not comply with specific characteristics of meta analysis (did not have explicit comparison of private and public facilities, the study was based on citations of other studies, few recognizable databases, among others). The most recent review, a meta analysis by Lundahl et. al. (2009) only identified 12 studies of cost and quality meeting their criteria for sound methodology . According to Alex Tabarrok, privately managed facilities can have cost savings of 15 25% on prison edification and 15% on administrative expenses. Likewise, private prisons generate competition and exert pressure towards public prisons. They encourage public prisons to also innovate and lower costs. Other studies (Lundahl et al. 2009, page 392) argue, prison privatization provides neither a clear advantage nor disadvantage compared with publicly managed prisons. The economic nature of private corporations is to be profit seeking agents whose sole focus is to maximize shareholder value. This is a fair reason and a reason that will always exist. • 10. The Adventure Of The Cardboard Box By Sir Arthur Conan Doyle 1. The Adventure of the Cardboard Box by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is a fictional short story. There are no other possible genres this story could fall into. 2. The exposition of the story is when Watson sets the stage by describing the weather and what he and his companion, Holmes, were doing. According to Watson, It was a blazing hot day in August. Baker Street was like an oven, and the glare of the sunlight upon the yellow brickwork of the house across the road was painful to the eye. Watson was sitting at a desk reading the newspaper; while Holmes was lying on the couch reading a letter he had received that morning. Watson became dissatisfied with paper and tossed it aside while Sherlock read his thoughts. Holmes astounded Watson by knowing exactly what he was thinking just by his facial features, eyes, and slight movements. After Holmes explained how he knew what Watson was thinking, Watson said, And now that you have explained it, I confess that I am as amazed as before. 3. But I have in my hands here a little problem which may prove to be more difficult of solution than my small essay I thought reading. Have you observed in the paper a short paragraph referring to the remarkable contents of a packet sent through the post to Miss Cushing, of Cross Street, Croydon? Those particular lines are the start of the rising action in this short story because they present the problem, which the characters must solve. • 11. Cry, The Beloved Country By Alan Paton Analysis It is no new information that God tends to take the ordinary people out of their normal lives and make something great out of them. This is exactly what happened to Stephen Kumalo in the book Cry, the Beloved Country by Alan Paton. It is those are are broken and imperfect that God sees something special through. Taking these people out of their brokenness and make the world better through them. Like all the other ordinary people that got brought up by God, Stephen Kumalo s journey was no different. He lived an ordinary life until he got a message that forced him to change. Although trying to ignore the change, he eventually followed God s plan. Throughout his journey, he becomes wise as he perseveres through hard tests put up against him.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, at the end when Absalom s life came to a short end, Stephen finally exclaimes, Does he repent him, or is there only room for his fear? Is there nothing that can be done now, is there not an angel that comes there and cries... (Paton 312). Stephen asks these questions as he prays for Absalom explains how he finally chose to forgive him. As he asks for a second chance for his loved son, it is too late for anything to start over. Stephen realizes his sins as his son is slowly dying away and he did not forgive him until now. Although Stephen sinned as he let his son go as a criminal and chose not to help him become better, he eventually repented for and with Absalom as they are both made holy for God s purposes. Stephen Kumalo also showed sin and redemption with Gertrude, Stephen Kumalo s sister. Because Gertrude was a prostitute, Stephen Kumalo was outraged by the fact that his sister did such a thing. He sinned as he yells at her, You have shamed us, he says in a low voice, not wishing to make it known to world. A liquor seller, a prostitution, with a child and you do not know where it is? (Paton 61). He takes his anger out on her as he did not consider how she felt. Telling someone they are a shame to people is not what a family does for each other. • 13. Next to of Course God America I by E.E. Cummings Essay Next to of Course God America I by E.E. Cummings e. e. cummings poem, next to of course god america i, is a wonderful example of stylistic variation in a text. Once again, we see his skill and mastery at manipulating the English language in order to foreground a thought and turn it into a commentary on society. As with all of cummings works, there is evidence of a multitude of variances and deviances at work, however, I shall concentrate on the area of language variance, more specifically, domain. Language variation and the area of domain, subject matter and function, are the easiest kinds of variation to see within a text. Subject matter involves the use of lexical fields, that is to say, a grouping of words, belonging to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, by jingo by gee by gosh by gum gives the impression that this speaker has not put any thought into the words he speaks. The last line of the poem shows the speaker drinking a glass of water rapidly. Why did cummings choose to invert this line? Why does the speaker drink at all? cummings could be mentioning this detail in an effort to portray just how irrelevant this speech really is. The adverb rapidly occurs in a most unlikely position in this thought. If we eliminate the need for rhyming water with slaughter, since the necessary rhyme for this poem might well have been achieved without inverting the syntax, then cummings must have had some other reason for the inversion of the syntax. Could it be that by writing a poem, which expresses a theme of inverted or confused philosophy, cummings inverts his apparently objective commentary on the situation and the words in which he reports his commentary to produce an ironic tone? This line, then, further serves to point to the inverted philosophy of this speaker and foregrounds the insincerity and thoughtlessness behind this speech. In this poem, carefully worked out in sonnet form, cummings pillories a Fourth of July speechmaker by choosing patriotic and religious clichГ©s common to platform oratory and compressing fragments of them together in order to demonstrate the meaningless emptiness that the speakers ... • 14. Nature s Response To Nature In Poetry Three poets have responded to each others poems. Christopher Marlowe, Sir Walter Raleigh, and William Carlos Williams have said there opinions in nature s role in providing for humanity. Marlowe had a very gentle approach with nature, while Raleigh and Williams have more of a negative and abrasive approach toward nature s role in providing. The three poets have came and showed their opinions through three individual poems. Marlowe, who wrote The passionate Shepherd to his Love , has a very positive connection to nature. In his poem he says A cap of flowers, and a kirtle embroidered all with leaves of myrtle. This means how he wants the kirtle embroidered all with the finest leaves of myrtle for his love. The way that he describes nature shows his great interest at the time with nature. The way he uses gentle and tranquil words to describe nature shows his soft relationship. All of the gifts that tries to persuade his love with all have a relation to nature. For example, the gown that he offers will be made from the finest wool from a pretty lamb. Another example is how Marlowe talks about how he is going to make her a bed of roses, yet another reference to nature to persuade his love in coming to be with him. In addition, Marlowe s structure of the poem is also very important to the meaning of the poem. Marlowe s poem has six stanzas that each contain four lines. The poem meter is stressed unstressed, and the rhyme scheme of the poem is AABB. In his poem, you will also find how Marlowe uses alliteration in his poem. The alliteration in the poem helps to describe all of the wonderful things in nature that he is trying to persuade his love with. An example of this is when he talks about them sitting upon the rocks and seeing the flocks. The ock repetition of consonant sound helps get the point across that the author has a positive connection with nature and his persuasion of his love. Raleigh wrote The Nymph s Reply to the Shepherd . His connection toward nature is very negative in a way. Raleigh s viewpoint on nature is very rough and abrasive toward Marlowe. In his poem/response his says When rivers rage and rocks grow cold. The words that he uses also show how his viewpoint on nature is very ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Associated colonizing individuals and groups including missionaries, teachers, soldiers, and other colonial settlers acted as prime catalysts (8). Within the Iliad, there is a strong urge to show a world in which was are tremendous and the gods have direct hand in human events and these deities influence fate. The two leading gods, Achillies and Aeneas, the reader can see the ways in which these two cultural problems entwine and try to create an image of the ancient world which is at once barbarously real in terms of the depiction of not just the glory, but also the horrors of war which are filled with supernatural and mystical figures called the gods. • 29. Figurative Language In Ozymandias Can one person truly immortalize himself? This is a question most people are often plagued with. Although one s body is mortal, Ozymandias, written by Shelley, conveys the truth of immortality. The poem is about a traveler telling a story about an Egyptian pharaoh, Ozymandias, and his statue. In the poem, a statue of Ozymandias is described by the author as crumbled and scarcely left. Even though he was successful in his time period, his legacy could not last. Therefore, no matter how much power one holds, his work will eventually be forgotten to all and left in the past. Nothing truly can remain throughout all of time: everything one built will eventually be destroyed by time. The idea that power is transient is portrayed through Shelley s use of irony, symbolism, and figurative language. Irony is extremely prevalent in this poem, contrasting power and mortality. Throughout this piece, the author describes Ozymandias as a ruthless and powerful Egyptian ruler, but continually relates back to the current state of his achievements. For instance, the engraving on Ozymandias s statue states, My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings: Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair! Sarah Kelley: good title Sarah Kelley: citation needed Labas 2 The author dictates that Ozymandias was attempting for his statue to be a symbol of strength. This is evident through how he views himself, as the King of Kings , and how he tells people that view the statue that they must look at everything he has accomplished and cower before his power. However, there is nothing left of his work, except for his crumbling statue and his kingdom of ruins. This use of irony strengthens the idea that power is transient because Ozymandias was extremely feared and he held a massive amount of authority. Nevertheless, all that he succeeded in building played victim to the cruel hands of time. The irony transforms the tone of the poem from prideful to pitiful. Furthermore, symbolism plays a huge part in this poem. One of the main symbols in this piece was the sand. Shelley mentions the sand multiple times to draw emphasis to it, and pairs it with words such as stretch and level . These words pertain to time, and one can assume the sand is referring ... • 52. The Principle Of Equity Within The World Of Doctrine, Not... Equity is a source of law which is based on flexible principles to supplement the common law, and thereby alleviating the harshness. Lord Scarman once described the principle of equity in National Westminster Bank PLC v Morgan as a world of doctrine, not of neat and tidy rules which emphasises its rigidity nature to provide its flexibility. As Alastair Hudson noted , many different doctrines fit inside English equity which introduce a more systematic approach to the common law. It is important to examine equity s historical development to recognize the root of how it was formed and used, and how it still serves a purpose within the modern legal system. When discussing the history of equity, it is imperative to go back to the 12th century where the King and his courtiers would travel around the country to settle disputes and collect the citizen s taxes. During this time, the King s Chancellor would advise the King and his Council on these matters. Due to this, he became known as the King s conscience. Where the use of the common law to settle a dispute proved to be unjustified, the Chancellor would provide a just remedy. In this way, the King s common law became well founded, and the concept of equity was formed. Common law suits were known to be inflexible, as the common law only provided one type of remedy, damages, which was not always an adequate solution to every problem . Some litigants grew dissatisfied with the system and petitioned to the King. However, all of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Blunt is an Australian manager and as afore mentioned, the company has over one hundred employees from different backgrounds. The company has more than 20 employees from South East Asia and out of them eight are Chinese. As much as the manager expects these employees top perform, the employees themselves feel subjected to the manager and look at him as some sort of God. The Chinese background is collective where a person is seen as having no rights except those which society allows them to enjoy (Biddle, 2012). The manager is ineffective in communicating to this section of the work force as they have trouble reconciling their traditional roles and their new found duties. Communication is a very critical ... It started out as a small exhibition when they received their first animal donation, a deer fawn. Of course, people flocked to the zoo. They were amazed that they could stand a few feet away from a live animal without fearing for their lives. By 1909, the Oklahoma City Zoohad over 100 animals. The zoo was a triumph! Unfortunately, disaster struck in 1923. A disastrous and tragic flood had occurred at Wheeler Park and caused the zoo to move to Lincoln Park. The very next year, a fatal fire spread throughout Lincoln Park. Miraculously, many small areas of the park survived the fire. However, the zoo was reconstructed on another 17 acres at the park. A director was also hired and new exhibits were built including the Botanical Garden and the Zoo Amphitheatre. The Oklahoma City Zoo also acquired a nursing home for the little ones. • 57. Piaget s Stages Of Cognitive Analysis The topic that I found interesting from the semester so far is object permanence from the sensorimotor stage of Piaget s Stages of Cognitive Development. This is interesting to me because over a week ago, at the local county fair in my hometown, I happened to see this concept be used in action with a cousin of mine that happened to be two years old. While at a family gathering at the fair, I witnessed the father of my little cousin hide a ball behind his back that the child had just had in his hands. When this was done, the child had no idea that there even was a ball anymore. At the time, I had thought nothing of the situation. It was not until we started to learn and read about certain concepts that I realized this could relate to what we were learning. I thought that this was ironic that I would see such an event happen that I could connect back to our class discussions. This concept of object permanencecan be found in our book in chapter 2. In chapter 2, there is information presented about Piaget s Stages of Cognitive Development. In connection to the event that I had seen, the child... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
