Goddess Of Brilliance And The Moon Essay
The Titaness of Brilliance and the Moon, or prophetic radiance is what Phoebe, a Greek mythological
Titan, was what she was commonly called. Although she was never referred to as the goddess of the
moon, she is often associated with Selene, who is the goddess of the moon (Luna in Latin). She is also
associated with Saturn, the sixth planet from the sun. In almost every picture of Phoebe, she is placed
next to the moon with a shield and bow and arrows. Phoebe was not one of the most popular or well
known Titans in Greek mythology, she was often always in the background of everything. Although
there is little information about her, she still is a major goddess because she was one of the first twelve
Titans, which explains why she took the side of the Titans in the War of the Titans. She also happens
to take part in the ancient Greeks creation myth story. Phoebe is the daughter of Uranus (Sky) and
Gaea (Earth). Which means she was part of the very first dynasty of the ancient Greek gods. There is

Also, her Roman counterpart was Dione. Her legend and myth plays an extremely important role in
the history of Ancient Greek mythology and the study of Greek classics. Her mother Gaea gave her
place to her one of her sisters, (Themis), whom then gave it to Phoebe. She was the third prophet at
the Oracle of Delphi, and according the to Aeschylus myth, Phoebe constantly felt like she was
carrying an enormous burden. Therefore, she decided to give the Oracle of Delphi to her grandson
Apollo as a birthday present. Since Apollo was so grateful that he presided over the lights of the
heavens. She also recalls hearing her mothers voice during the Oracle of Delphi. But, because of her
being that resembled mortals that possessed magical and mystic personalities, she was often golden

Assata Shakur And The Black Panther Party
Assata Shakur is an African American lady who had strong believes in defending her Black race amid
the seventies. She is an amazing and motivating image of conquering a degenerate society s
restrictions and racial fortresses. In 1971, Assata Shakur was blamed for robbing a bank in Queens,
NY. This was the start of a considerable rundown of allegations and accusations that she would be
encountering in her life. Life in the US in the 50s was extreme, if you weren t white and Assata
experience this in the worst way. The social equality development was gradually attempting to fix
hundreds of years of harm and change government plans. Assata Shakur was an individual from the
Black Panther Party, an association that was devoted to the empowerment of the Black race. On May
2, 1973, Black Panther Assata Shakur known as JoAnne Chesimard lay in a hospital bed, almost
dying, under arrest and hands cuffed to her bed, while state and government officers at any chance
they got were scrutinizing and physically abuse her trying to get her to incriminate herself or her
friends at a shootout on the New Jersey Turnpike were a white state trooper was killed.
Assata, was born in New York City and spent most of her life living in New York City or with her
grandparents in North Carolina. She was raised to have values not only for herself but to others around
her. Shakur s Grandparents made sure to instill in her to be respectful no matter what regardless of

Dr Stefani Hicswa Critical Review
The conversation with Dr. Stefani Hicswa, President at Northwest College in Powell, Wyoming offers
clear leadership ability. The interview was filled with lessons learned to her success. One of the points
that resonated with me was to share the literature. Dr. Hicswa stated make sure that faculty and college
employees have the literature that backs up what you are doing. You aren t just making this stuff up...
There is a TON of research to support you. Throughout the DCCL program we ve had a lot of

Causes Of The Treaty Of Versailles
World War I was a major conflict fought in Europe and around the world between 1914 until 1918. In
the end, the countries were striving to recover from World War 1 and were in need of a treaty to
prevent any future war from occurring. The countries came to an agreement and decided to create the
Treaty of Versailles. This treaty was made to end the state of war between Germany and the Allied
Powers, but Germany was not allowed to attend the Conference so they had no say in the terms that
were discussed. The Allies punished Germany in the Treaty of Versailles because of 1) pressure put on
the allied countries by civilians to discipline Germany and 2) the strong feeling that Germany should
pay for all of the damage and destruction caused by the war considering they were a major cause of
starting it. The terms of the Treaty of Versailles caused Germany to lose everything territory, money
due to reparations, alliances, military control, disarmament, and worst their pride; essentially Germany
had to take full blame for the war. These terms were made to prevent Germany from exercising such
aggression in the future. In reality, what ended up transpiring was that the Treaty gave Germany even
more hatred to the point where they were looking for anything who could fix all of the ongoing
problems they were facing this setup Adolf Hitler s rise up to power. Hitler s rise to power was formed
not only by the Treaty of Versailles, but also by his nazi propaganda, his fiery public speaking

Meli marine essay
Meli Marine
1. Overview
Meli Marine is a leading player in the container shipping industry on intra Asia routes and has built a
strong presence in the market and demonstrated very high operating margins and operating ROA from
2002 2007 compared to its main competitors. As Meli Marine s CEO, David Tian seeks to steer the
company towards expansion in 2008, with an option to acquire 16 vessels from Teeh Sah Holdings.
With these ships, he plans to expand to the trans Pacific market. However, we believe this deal will
not be in Meli Marine s best interest at the moment, and the company will be better off without the
acquisition.
2. Prelude to Acquisition Consideration
2.1 Market Attractiveness: Trans Pacific route appears attractive as ... Show more content on

Given the significant risk of drops in volume and price, Meli Marine may not be able to achieve
economies of scale nor break even should such a scenario occur.
3.1.4 Less than Optimal Ship Size: The vessels that Meli Marine planned to purchase were on average
4,500 TEU in size. This is smaller than the ideal size of 10,000 TEU for Asia North America route.
The supersize ships were better able to achieve economies of scale through spreading the fixed cost
over a larger shipping capacity. In this manner, due to a lower cost, competitors may be able to
successfully undercut Meli through lower pricing. Thus should Meli Marine enter this market, they
would begin with a cost disadvantage compared to their competitors. As further elaborated in
Appendix B2, the long distance of Trans Pacific route also makes it unfeasible for Meli to replicate its
successful operational strategy that it has implemented in Intra Asia.
3.1.5 Backlash from Competitors Feeders Line Mainline Operators: Expanding Meli s service to cover
the Asia NA line will likely strain its relationship with existing feeder line channel partners (MLOs).
The MLOs may stop partnering with Meli for other routes. Further, going head to head against
established MLOs may intensify the threat of cascades. Also, if the influence of MLOs on current
customers is larger Meli s, the MLOs may coax Meli s

Rhetorical Analysis Essay: A Seismic Shift in How People Eat In Hans Taparia and Pamela Koch s
New York Times online article A Seismic Shift in How People Eat, posted on November 6, 2015, the
current struggle that big food companies are experiencing in relation to increased consumer awareness
is discussed. Prompting this article is the overwhelming movement to healthy eating by the general
populace and the havoc it is wreaking on corporate companies. Highly popular among health
enthusiasts of all ages, the topic of this paper appeals to a wide audience. Although easily missed at
first due to the beautiful flow and structure of the paper, the opinions and claims by Taparia and Koch
are primarily based in logos where facts and statistics are quoted, and a fair amount of pathos where
vivid imagery is utilized to paint a picture of the scenario for the reader. Differing slightly from the
normal presentation, the ethos of the paper is not so much enforced through personal titles or
anecdotes, but rather through the combination of presenting the ideas and facts clearly and
persuasively, all adding to the author s credibility. When the paper comes to a conclusion, the reader is
left with a solid understanding of how big food companies are finally being forced to share their dirty
secrets and clean up their act in order to compete with the small scale, organic based companies and
the jeopardy they are facing unless they change their ways drastically. As the paper begins,

Operation Chromite
On 15 September 1950, Operation CHROMITE became one of the hallmark examples of amphibious
warfare in history. In August during the Korean War, North Korean forces had egun their attacks on
the Pusan Perimeter. Although the South Korean forces, along with U.N. forces, were holding the line
at the Pusan perimeter, North Korea was determined to break through. As a last ditch effort by North
Korea, they were able to push South Korean forces back. To turn the tide, US forces needed to get in
behind enemy lines, secure Kimp o Airfield and rapidly advance to regain control of the Seoul city.
This was endeavor was accomplished through the application of an amphibious assault at Inchon.
General MacArthur is credited for this tactical decision at a time when amphibious warfare was
considered obsolete, US military force reduction, and budget cuts. Compared to the past, amphibious
operations has become a more than just an application to insert a force, it has become a means to
shape a battlespace for multiple mission sets.
Amphibious operations are now designed and equipped to operate from the air, sea and land.

On the first day of my class,I did not have proper undertanding of what human resource management
means.I entered the class with a view that it is going to be just a normal introduction and course
outline would be discussed in the class.According to my understanding human resources dealt with
just recruiting people, but to my surpise there is much more to it than recruiting.Debra asked us to talk
to the person sitting next to you and introduce each other and once done, pair up with the other team of
two people and share your experiences, interests, background information. It was pretty much fun
talking to unknown people from different countries and getting to know their good and bad
experiences.after the introduction, course outline was reviewed and we got to know about about the
journal and debate that we will have top present later in the future.Debra gave a little introduction
about herself followed by her work experiences in the different fields. It was great knowing her and I
was honestly amazed to know her varied expereince in different fields and how well she has managed
everything. We started our course with introduction to strategic role of HRM(chapter 1).

Advantages Of Machine Molding
d) Machine molding In bench, floor and pit molding, the different molding operations are carried out
manually by the molder, whereas in machine molding, various molding operations like sand ramming,
rolling the mold over, withdrawing the pattern etc. are done by machines. Machine molding have
several advantages over bench, floor and pit molding such as : Performing the same operations faster
and more efficiently in a methodical precise manner. Producing identical and consistent castings.
Producing castings of better quality at lower costs. Molding machines are preferred for mass
production of the castings whereas hand molding (bench, pit and floor) is used for limited production.
Machine molding is not a completely automated process. Although many operations can though be

The steps taken for casting in a squeeze machine are : In squeeze machine, the mould box with pattern
and sand in it is placed on a fixed table. A flat plate or a rubber diaphragm is brought in contact with
the upper surface of the loose sand and pressure is applied by a pneumatically operated piston. The
squeezing action of the plate causes the sand particles to get packed tightly above and around the
pattern. Squeezing is continued until the mould attains the desired density. In some machines, the
squeeze plate may be stationary with the mould box moving upward. The density and hardness of the
rammed sand at the bottom of the mould box is less when compared to its top portions and this can be
considered as a disadvantage. Squeezer machines press the sand in the flask between the machine
table and overhead plate. Greatest mold density is obtained at the side of the mold from which the
pressure is applied. Because it is impossible to obtain uniform mold density by this method, squeezing
machines are limited to molds only a few inches in

PTSD and Its Effect on Military Families Essay
PTSD and Its Effects on Military Families In 2004 Operation Iraqi Freedom became the deadliest
American military conflict since the Vietnam War. Military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan and
Vietnam have brought heightened awareness of military related PTSD, as well as the relationship and
family problems that accompany the disorder. Studies have shown that 11% 20% of Veterans that
served in Iraq and 6% 11% of veterans that were deployed to Afghanistan have suffered from PTSD.
Veterans of operation Desert Storm suffer at a rate of about 10% and Vietnam veteran estimates have
been as high as 30% 50%. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is defined as an anxiety disorder that can

While PTSD was not yet defined it was clear that these symptoms were caused because of the
disturbing things that had been seen. With no treatments available and a stigma that the effected
persons were cowards or scared soldiers were often sent home with no supervision. During World War
I physicians began calling it shell shock or combat fatigue , they believed that concussions caused by
the impact of shells disrupting the brain caused the symptoms. Treatments included hospitalization
and electric shock therapy. By World War II medical personnel noticed that soldiers that were engaged
in longer more intense fighting had much higher levels or psychiatric disturbances and started using
the term battle fatigue or combat exhaustion. Soldiers were being labeled as fearful and lacking in
discipline and PTSD was still not fully recognized as a disorder, at this time treatment included
barbiturates. As the Vietnam War began preventative measures were being taken to decrease the
psychological impact of war on soldiers. Unfortunately as the war ended soldiers were often met with
hostile demonstrations by anti war activists and society offered little acceptance of Vietnam veterans
even years after the war. This is when early studies on PTSD and the effects on military families
began being documented. Early research showed that PTSD can have devastating, far reaching
consequences on the patients functioning, relationships,

Galileo s Letter To The Grand Duchess Christina

Galileo Galilei, Letter to the Grand Duchess Christina
Galileo was an astronomer, mathematician, and an Italian physicist. In the early 1600s, he was the
greatest European scientist (The Human Record, 41). Galileo Galilei was also a devout Catholic.
Galileo wrote the letter, The Grand Duchess of Tuscany, in 1615. This letter defends his approach to
science and religion in a published letter addressed to the Grand Duchess Christina (The Human
Record, 41). From my reading, Grand Duchess Christina seemed as if she was a person of high
authority so he addressed the letter to her. With all of his knowledge and skills, he developed new
ideas as well as new discoveries. Galileo ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As stated in the book, His public support of Copernicus disturbed Catholic theologians, who were
convinced it undermined correct belief and the authority of the church (The Human Record, 41). So,
therefore these new findings of ideas did not agree with the way the Catholic Church was organized or
the power of which the church held. Copernicus created this theory that was supported by Galileo.
This theory argued about what was at the center of the universe, which was not the earth, but it was
the sun (The Human Record, 41). Finding new discoveries regarding science was the idea Copernicus
had in mind. He wanted people to become more interested in finding things as if they were scientist
like himself. On the other hand, Galileo wanted people to stop including the bible into scientific
findings. One of Galileo s findings as stated in the book, I hold the sun to be situated motionless in the
center of the revolution of the celestial orbs while the Earth rotates on its axis and revolves about the
sun (The Human Record, 42). Galileo made an attempt to explain that his findings do not discredit the
religion or the church. He just believed that religion and science could

The Road is a novel written by Cormac McCarthy set in a dystopian society. The text follows a boy
and his father through the lawless world. The boy and his father take the reader through a journey
through the post apocalyptic world. The author Cormac McCarthy entertains his readership of The

of entertainment for the reader and to draw the reader further in. The core techniques used by Cormac
McCarthy for the entertainment of his readership are figurative language, symbolism and a range of
themes.

adds a heart warming touch to the plot making the reader feel more passionate about their journeys
and travels through the post apocalyptic world. Another theme highlighted throughout the text is the
battle between good and evil, where the father and son are good, and the cannibals seen in many
scenes of the text, the evil. This theme makes the reader pick a side and think what they would be,
good or evil? The multiple themes addressed in the by Cormac McCarthy are used as tools of

A Task Force
A task force was formed to examine issues surrounding null hypothesis significance testing and the
publication of research studies regarding these results. As a result of this task force, recommendations
were made to revise statistical sections of the APA publication manual. But before these revisions
were implemented, the Board of Scientific Affairs (BSA) recommended to initiate discussion of these
changes, the task force publish an article in American Psychologist, hence this article. I will break
down these suggestions in methods, results and discussion. METHODS It is important in the design
portion that the researcher is very clear and concise on the type of study they are conducting, and
making it clear if there are multiple goals. By making the design section clear and concise, there is no
question on what the researchers are trying to accomplish and what their goals are. Defining a
population is critical to any conclusions in an article. The definition of the population, including any
control groups, of the study must be clear and concise, including the characteristics, which can affect
the interpretation of the data. Within the population we have the sample, the procedures of which need
to be clear and concise as well, including all relevant information. If the data is clustered or stratified,
as opposed to random samples, we must include that information as it will affect interval estimates.
Sample size can be critical to the results of a study, to it is important

Aristotles concept of catharsis
Mimesis, Catharsis, and Pleasure:
An Investigation into Aristotle s Tragic Pleasure
Bradley Elicker
Temple University
Abstract: Aristotle writes the Poetics as an investigation into representational art and, more
specifically, as an investigation into the art form of tragedy. While Aristotle goes into great detail
regarding the technical aspects of creating and appreciating a work of tragedy, he is somewhat lacking
in his descriptions of how tragedy is enjoyed by an audience. Aristotle speaks of this tragic pleasure in
two ways; as the pleasure of mimesis, and as the pleasure of catharsis. If we come to understand the
Aristotelian concept of pleasure as an activity as opposed to a process, and the distinction between

and of itself. He uses the examples of losing weight as opposed to seeing to show this difference.
Aristotle writes that when one is in the process of losing weight, there is a specific end to which the
process strives towards, this end is having lost weight. In the action of losing weight, the end is not
present. The end of having lost weight will only occur after the process of losing weight has been
completed. The same is not true of seeing. When we see something, the end is having seen it. This end
is present in the action of seeing. When we say that we see something, we can also say that we have
seen it. The end is in the action itself, and the action is its own end. In this way seeing is an activity
and not a process.
Aristotle writes that a process will have some type of duration between the time that it is begun and
the time that it is completed. When someone attempts to lose weight, there is a certain duration of time
between beginning the process of losing weight and the end of the process, having lost weight. By
contrast, an activity is complete at all times.

Australian Curriculum Essay
The development of a national curriculum for Australia is not a new endeavour (Marsh, 2010). The
ideal is that national curriculum across Australia would mean that students are provided with a quality
education that helps to shape the lives of the nations citizens and continue developing the productivity
and quality of life within Australia. The Australian Curriculum Assessment and Reporting Authority
[ACARA] have the task of developing and implementing a nationwide curriculum. ACARA (n.d. c)

and challenges will continue to shape students education in the future. A look at what the Australian

Another alternative is that curriculum as an outcome ties together the experiences of learners while at
school with the purpose to achieve goals and objectives (Reid, 2005).
The Australian Curriculum is not designed to stipulate the whole curriculum; rather it is a blueprint
that defines what students across Australia should be taught throughout their schooling years
(ACARA, n.d. g). The Australian Curriculum will provide specific information for the content that is
to be taught, the extent of understanding, level of knowledge and the achievement standards and skills
that will be expected of students (Hill, n.d.). Individual schools, teachers and communities make
decisions about which activities, events and community based traditions to include in the classroom
which focus on personal development and character (Hill, n.d.).
The Goal for Education
When meeting to discuss the educational goals that would apply to the curriculum for Australia, The
Ministerial Council for Education, Early Childhood Development and Youth Affairs [MCEECDYA]

to become successful learners, confident and creative individuals and active informed citizens

Native American Beliefs
The Native American tribe known as Blackfoot, is not really talked about. It was never really a big
tribe that made a large name for itself. The Blackfoot Indians have the same government as most
tribes, and it has an interesting social organization. The Blackfoots also have some special customs
and traditions, along with their art and literature. The Native American government can be a little
complicated, but once it s explained it becomes clearer. The Native American government is a
monarchy, though it was not always that way. Before the Europeans invaded, they had their own form
of government. When the Europeans invaded they decided that each Native American tribe needed a
chief to rule and look over the people. The United States rejected having a monarchy for its
government, but thought that it would be acceptable to the Native Americans (Ojbiwa). The Blackfoot
had an economy based on buffalo hunting, therefore their government was one based around buffalo
hunting and movements. The title of chief, usually men, is not hereditary, the chief has to show good
leadership qualities. The chief does not tell the people what to do, but tries to persuade them to do
what he is thinking. The chief s job was to keep peace in the group, be generous, be able to persuade
his/her people. During the summer the band s, different groups in the tribe, would gather together and
the most influential band chief would be deemed as head of the entire tribe (Ojbiwa). The government

The Fallibility of Partial DNA in Courts
DNA s certainty is dramatized in today s society, which gives lay people the impression that DNA is
infallible; however, in the case of Wayne Butler and others, the fallibility of DNA is exposed. Wayne
Butler was accused of sadistically murdering Natasha Douty who was found beaten to death on
Brampton Island in 1983. Wayne Butler was vacationing on Brampton Island during the timeframe of
the murder; however, claimed to be jogging during this time. After submitting a blood test, Butler was
eliminated as a suspect. However, Butler was arrested in 2001 for this murder because semen, which
was found on the towel at the crime scene, was found to be a match. The John Tonge Centre
performed a DNA test on the evidence on the towel. Butler was found innocent after it was identified
that the John Tonge Centre mislabeled the test tubes containing the crime scene evidence. ( DNA
Evidence ) This case proves that DNA testing may not be as reliable as we think.
No two people, except identical twins, have identical DNA sequences, which makes DNA testing
appealing to law enforcement. Two types of DNA testing include short tandem repeat and variable
number tandem repeat. Short tandem repeat requires less DNA compared to variable tandem repeat,
which is useful when a sample has been degraded at the crime scene. ( DNA Evidence ) Whilst DNA
evidence is a useful weapon in solving crimes, it is not infallible; therefore, it needs to be used with
caution, especially with partial DNA profile,

Of course, I was born and raised in the United States. My parents were both born in the United States,

been the most difficult for me, and I haven t learned to love it, not even like it so much. I more just
tolerate it. However, Morocco is also very different from the United States, and doesn t have many
comforts that Americans are used too. I am sure that is a big reason that I find it a very difficult place
to live. I am sure that is why I experience the most culture shock here. I say this to say that my own
stage of cultural defiance has been a mixture of all three. I believe that the Dominican Republic was
my example of stage three, followed by Brazil being the essence of stage one, and finally Morocco has
definitely been an example of stage two.
STAGE ONE: Denial of Differences (or the Invisible People) All three countries that I have lived in
are developing nations. I have seen so much poverty and suffering from both animals and people that
it has made me almost immune. Animal suffering still eats at my heart, but much of the suffrage of
people, unfortunately, I have become immune too. I know that is sad to say, but it is neither intentional
nor wanted. As a result of their being so many people in need, they have started to become invisible . I
never thought of it this way until I read over this document, but it made me think. It made me think of
how I personally treat someone in the street who approaches me for money.

Character Analysis Of Lady Macbeth
In the play Macbeth by William Shakespeare, the character Lady Macbeth and her various qualities
are used to reinforce the idea that being ambitious can be beneficial, however it can also have dire
consequences. This Shakespearean tragedy is set in Scotland during the Middle Ages, and follows the
tale of Macbeth, a Scottish Thane, who succumbs to temptation in an attempt to fulfil a set of
prophecies and become King. During the play he becomes consumed by his dark desires and
murderous ambitions, which ultimately lead both himself and his wife to their deaths. The author s
various messages surrounding being ambitious are shown through; the immense determination of
Lady Macbeth, her successful manipulation of her husband, and her callous nature. These qualities
and their implied messages to the audience are explored in the play through the use of; dialogue,
symbolism and other various language features.
One of Lady Macbeth s greatest strengths is her drive and determination to succeed in life. Moreover,
she was willing to do anything, even kill her own child and dash d the brains out of it to get what she
desired. Consequently this shows the immense lengths to which she is prepared to go to and it is also
highlights of the fact that sometimes you have to make sacrifices in order for your objectives to be
realised. The greatest sacrifice which Lady Macbeth makes is to that of her feminism, Make thick my
blood, stop up the access and passage to remorse. This imagery of blood is an extreme example which
shows that Lady Macbeth is willing to stop being a woman because of her great male ambitions.
However, as with all the recurring blood imagery throughout the play, it is also a show of that fact that
she will not feel any guilt for committing the atrocities she does nor will she regret the fact that she
abandoned her womanhood. Consequently, the reason Lady Macbeth has been developed in such a
way by the author is to show the cosmic power of females. Women have historically been oppressed
and so Lady Macbeth would have had to fight her entire life in order to achieve greatness, whilst men
like Macbeth get everything handed to them on a golden platter. Social constraints would have denied

Greek Myth Of The Eighty-Eight Constellations
Out of the eighty eight officially recognized constellations, my favorite would be Gemini, The Twins.
This constellation happens to be my favorite because not only is it my Zodiac sign, but I also find the
Greek legend to be intriguing. The name Gemini means The Twins in Latin, the two twins being
Castor and Pollux. Also, as mentioned before, Gemini is one of the twelve Zodiac signs. This sign was
cataloged by the Greek Muggle Astronomer Ptolemy in the 2nd century. Furthermore, Gemini is the
30th largest constellation and lies in the 2nd quadrant of the northern hemisphere. The legend of the
constellation Gemini is a Greek myth. Luckily, Gemini mythology is pretty straightforward, while the
origins of some other myths and legends are debated

Jane Eyre Settings
Mysterious, complex, and utterly captivating, Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre constantly leaves the
reader with more questions than answers. The book consists of constant plot twists, all of which
eventually make sense in the end. Perhaps what is most fascinating about Jane Eyre is the setting
behind it. Throughout the novel, Jane Eyre travels to many places over multiple years. Through
analysis it is clear that these different settings relate to each period and development in her life.
Commonly contrasting and seemingly insignificant, the details behind locations such as Thornfield
and Ferndean allow Bronte to develop Jane as a character as well as create a deeper meaning behind
her work. Thornfield and Ferndean are contrasting in both their literal and metaphorical meanings.
When the compound words of each title are broken apart, additional insight can be found. The Thorn
in Thornfield gives off a negative vibe as not many enjoy encountering thorns. Despite this, when Jane
first arrives at Thornfield, she is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thornfield is a grand mansion when compared to the countryside manor of Ferndean. However, its is
Ferndean which feels more homely. This is due to Thornfield s cold manor setting, the appearance of
the building itself being uninviting. Ferndean is a merry and carefree atmosphere when compared to
Thornfield. Jane describes her time at Ferndean in the following, Most of the morning was spent in the
open air. I led him out of the wet and wild wood into some cheerful fields: I described to him how
brilliantly green they were; how the flowers and the hedges looked refreshed; how sparklingly blue
was the sky (478). The images presented are light and insouciant. Bronte also writes this time at
Ferndean as in the spring, a common symbol for rebirth. Despite its ornateness, Thornfield is an
atmosphere of depression, clearly a dark time for

Iago And Roderigo
Written by William Shakespeare, Othello is a play of romance, hatred, jealousy and racism. Othello
takes place sometime around the year 1600A.D. Act I of the play is established on a street in Venice.
Iago and Roderigo are arguing over Iago s work to help Roderigo acquire a relationship with the fair
Desdemona. Iago has heard the news that Desdemona, Brabantio s daughter, is getting married to
Othello, a military general. Brabantio is infuriated after Iago and Roderigo told him the news of
Desdemona s marriage, because Othello was what was called a Moor. In this scene, it is also shown
that Iago is furious with the decision by Othello to appoint Michael Cassio as a lieutenant instead of

Observation And Experimentation Of Observation
Observation is both an act and a remark made about an issue of interest. It is the process of close
monitoring of an occurrence for some given reasons, scientific or not. It is also the information
gathered from the monitoring process. In any scientific study, certain steps have to be followed. There
has to be observation/experimentation for any hypothesis to be formed and tested. It all starts from the
experimentation stage where close observations are made. Scientists rely mostly on observation in its
many forms in order to gain evidence during their studies. Nevertheless, the observational evidence is
majorly theory laden. The anticipation is based on past theories such that their aim is to agree with a
learnt theory or to reject it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If In any cases the observations are laden in any way, then there is a threat to science. Studies have
shown that perception can be influenced by theories. The theories can therefore control the
observation from the initial stages up to the end. Once the perception is theory based rather than the
real observation at hand, the attention to the process, how the observer comprehend the process and
later interpret the results has an effect to the scientific process(science). The findings could be
interpreted in the right and best way possible but their credibility depend on how the observations
were collected. If they were biased, then their credibility is low and unreliable.
Observation mainly involve seeing . Certain theories need observational support to be scientifically
accepted. Observational support is further applied when comparing two theories that might closely
explain a similar topic. Scientists make conclusions based on what they see which is further
influenced by on their beliefs. Despite that two people observing the same thing, their conclusions
might vary. This makes it hard when deciding which theory is better, observation technique isn t the
better way. Its dependence on the observers perspective stand in the way of making the right choice.
Certain observation statements are laden. Most of them are theory laden for instance ice melts in the

Dracula And The Count Dracula By Bram Stoker
Vampires were once known as a creepy monster that everyone wanted to kill. The book series Twilight
Saga has greatly changed just about every stereotypical concept that vampires were once known for.
Myths about vampire s date back as far as Ancient Greece. Stories passed down through the ages
before bringing us one of the most recognizable vampires Count Dracula. The book Count Dracula by
Bram Stoker in 1897 is the start of the horror monster fiction that traditional vampires are known to
be. Vampires are no longer monsters that have human like qualities. Vampires have transformed
themselves from creepy creatures that we once feared into a creature passes for a typical human. In
Twilight, a new beautiful class of vampire has entered the world, one that appears to live a semi
normal life. The father figure has a career as a doctor. In addition, teenagers go to high school to keep
up the charade of normality. These characters have always tried to behave as normal people since their
creation. It is necessary for them to fit into the local population and not draw any undesired attention
to themselves. This new class of vampires take pride in being able to co exist with humans by only
feeding upon animals instead of the blood of humans. The only consistency is that vampires drink
blood as part of their diet. (Brazeale) The vampires in Twilight do share some similar qualities with
those of other vampire novels, such as the Vampire Chronicles or Dracula. Both versions of

Ethics
Initially, my personal values distracted from my ability to sympathize with Bernard Ebbers conviction.
His defense team argued that the trial judge wrongly instructed the jury that it could convict Mr.
Ebbers on the basis that he engaged in conscious avoidance of the fraud at WorldCom. It is evident
that Ebbers took a blind eye to any consideration to analyze the good stuff from the bad stuff in this
situation. He failed to calculate the considerations of utility and as a result he is paying the
consequences through a substantial decrease in his quality of life. Currently he is serving a 25 year

Deception, whether intentional or not, did occur. The shareholders had a right to know the financial
state of WorldCom. In Ebber s defense, he had unscrupulous bed fellows on this board. Their
intentions are also at question especially regarding their eagerness to grant Mr. Ebbers a breathtaking
loan for $341 million dollar at an interest rate of 2% to shield the instability of the company s financial
situation from shareholders. There were also some concerns whether such loans were ethical from the
Security Exchange Commission Enforcement official Seth Taube. He stated that large loans to senior
executives are commonly sweetheart deals involving interest rates that constitute a poor return on
company assets. Federal prosecutors in New York cited Ebbers s expensive lifestyle, and his
overspending, as a motive to hide WorldCom s mounting financial troubles. The impropriety
associated with the largest loan any publicly traded company has lent to one of its officers in recent
memory is evident. Unfortunately, if Ebbers had pressed the matter and sold his stock, he would have
escaped the bankruptcy financially whole, but Ebbers honestly thought WorldCom would recover. The
series of clever manipulations to bury almost $4 billion in misallocated expenses and phony account
entries discovered by Cynthia Copper s team threw open Pandora s box. Ms. Cooper, a senior line

Describe how the second industrial revolution of the late...
Describe how the second industrial revolution of the late nineteenth century differed from the first
industrial revolution of the late eighteenth and early nineteenth century.
This paper intends to compare the first industrial revolution of the 17th and 18th centuries and the
second industrial revolution of the mid 18th and 19th centuries. It will highlight the transformation
from the first revolution to the second revolution, focusing on the presence of giant firms and role of
science and technology in economic activities. Additionally, it will introduce the two worldly
philosophers Karl Marx and Adam Smith on these issues.

science developed rapidly in 1850s various vaccines were discovered and x ray facilities were made
available to doctors which created a more efficient way of diagnosing illness. For instance, the 1919

the development of drugs. Prior to this discoverer it was common knowledge for people to blame
certain aliment and natural occurrences as a punishment on God for sins committed e.g. 1755 Lisbon

The remarkable element of changes in industrial revolution was the sharp increase in output of the
newly technologically advanced industries. In 1701, the importation of raw cotton for spinning weight
1 million, however, a drastic increase by 1781 was 5million. Likewise textile technology by 1784 it
was over 11million pound, nonetheless a massive increase by 1799 to 43million. (Hammond and
Hammond 1937, p 162).
The first industrial revolution emerged with small scale of industry which was managed mainly by the
owners. Consequently, Workers and owners had good relationships, but productivity was low.
However, the second revolution emerged with big

Summary Of The Rainy Mountain By Momaday
The statement that Momaday stated is very fitting for this book. I don t see any validity in the
separation of man and landscape. For example the Rainy Mountain is important the Kiowa because
they are nomadic people. They move around and migrated from western Montana to Oklahoma. The
Rainy Mountain is like a place of union for the Kiowa people. It is a place where they come together
and become one. Even thought the Kiowas have already been long gone they still live in spirit
throughout the land.
Momaday also called humans an alienation from nature. It basically says that we do not belong here
because we disrupt the peacefulness of this world. Nature just takes enough to survive, but us human
just take everything. Humans actually do more

Seventh Circle In Dante s Inferno
Drew Anderson
ELA 12
Dante
In The Inferno by Dante Alighieri, Dante is led down through hell by the ancient poet Virgil. As he
descends through hell he progressively sees people who committed worse and worse crimes. Because
of this we are able to see into the mind of Dante; and therefore, understand his thoughts on the
volatility of the crimes committed. Personally I believe because of Dante being screwed in his own
life plus the many backward thoughts of the time; Dante is much too harsh on humanity and he sends
far too many people to hell.
Dante s first circle is called Limbo. Limbo is just on the cusp of hell. People in Dante s limbo are not
tortured and crying out they are just sighing because they lack hope of a better life. No tortured
wailing rose to greet us here but sounds of sighing rose from every side. (canto IV) Limbo holds all

The seventh circle is for those who were violent. This includes people where violent against
themselves because those violent against themselves denied their human form they are shown as trees
in The Inferno, Puzzled I broke off a thorn: and the great trunk of it cried out. (canto 13 pg. 120) The
eighth circle is for people who claimed to be prophets but weren t, people who stole, people who lie,
and people who seduced others. The final circle of hell is for four men, Satan who betrayed god, Judas
who betrayed Christ, and for those who betrayed Caesar.
Dante ranks sins very differently than I would as well. Personally I believe he is much too harsh. I
believe that limbo, heresy, and a portion of the lustful should not even be on the list. Limbo should be
removed because these people did not even have a chance to make it to heaven. Heresy should be
removed because most protestants were indoctrinated into their religion and really never had a choice
in what religion they were. People who were lustful but did not commit adultery should not be sent to

  • 2. Goddess Of Brilliance And The Moon Essay The Titaness of Brilliance and the Moon, or prophetic radiance is what Phoebe, a Greek mythological Titan, was what she was commonly called. Although she was never referred to as the goddess of the moon, she is often associated with Selene, who is the goddess of the moon (Luna in Latin). She is also associated with Saturn, the sixth planet from the sun. In almost every picture of Phoebe, she is placed next to the moon with a shield and bow and arrows. Phoebe was not one of the most popular or well known Titans in Greek mythology, she was often always in the background of everything. Although there is little information about her, she still is a major goddess because she was one of the first twelve Titans, which explains why she took the side of the Titans in the War of the Titans. She also happens to take part in the ancient Greeks creation myth story. Phoebe is the daughter of Uranus (Sky) and Gaea (Earth). Which means she was part of the very first dynasty of the ancient Greek gods. There is no information of how or when she was born, only information about her ... Her legend and myth plays an extremely important role in the history of Ancient Greek mythology and the study of Greek classics. Her mother Gaea gave her place to her one of her sisters, (Themis), whom then gave it to Phoebe. She was the third prophet at the Oracle of Delphi, and according the to Aeschylus myth, Phoebe constantly felt like she was carrying an enormous burden. Therefore, she decided to give the Oracle of Delphi to her grandson Apollo as a birthday present. Since Apollo was so grateful that he presided over the lights of the heavens. She also recalls hearing her mothers voice during the Oracle of Delphi. She is an amazing and motivating image of conquering a degenerate society s restrictions and racial fortresses. In 1971, Assata Shakur was blamed for robbing a bank in Queens, NY. The social equality development was gradually attempting to fix hundreds of years of harm and change government plans. Assata Shakur was an individual from the Black Panther Party, an association that was devoted to the empowerment of the Black race. On May 2, 1973, Black Panther Assata Shakur known as JoAnne Chesimard lay in a hospital bed, almost dying, under arrest and hands cuffed to her bed, while state and government officers at any chance they got were scrutinizing and physically abuse her trying to get her to incriminate herself or her friends at a shootout on the New Jersey Turnpike were a white state trooper was killed. The interview was filled with lessons learned to her success. One of the points that resonated with me was to share the literature. Dr. Hicswa stated make sure that faculty and college employees have the literature that backs up what you are doing. You aren t just making this stuff up... There is a TON of research to support you. Throughout the DCCL program we ve had a lot of experience with literature reviewing. It sets a stage for critical thinking which is a good principle. • 5. Causes Of The Treaty Of Versailles World War I was a major conflict fought in Europe and around the world between 1914 until 1918. In the end, the countries were striving to recover from World War 1 and were in need of a treaty to prevent any future war from occurring. The countries came to an agreement and decided to create the Treaty of Versailles. This treaty was made to end the state of war between Germany and the Allied Powers, but Germany was not allowed to attend the Conference so they had no say in the terms that were discussed. The Allies punished Germany in the Treaty of Versailles because of 1) pressure put on the allied countries by civilians to discipline Germany and 2) the strong feeling that Germany should pay for all of the damage and destruction caused by the war considering they were a major cause of starting it. The terms of the Treaty of Versailles caused Germany to lose everything territory, money due to reparations, alliances, military control, disarmament, and worst their pride; essentially Germany had to take full blame for the war. These terms were made to prevent Germany from exercising such aggression in the future. In reality, what ended up transpiring was that the Treaty gave Germany even more hatred to the point where they were looking for anything who could fix all of the ongoing problems they were facing this setup Adolf Hitler s rise up to power. Hitler s rise to power was formed not only by the Treaty of Versailles, but also by his nazi propaganda, his fiery public speaking ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Meli marine essay Meli Marine 1. Overview Meli Marine is a leading player in the container shipping industry on intra Asia routes and has built a strong presence in the market and demonstrated very high operating margins and operating ROA from 2002 2007 compared to its main competitors. As Meli Marine s CEO, David Tian seeks to steer the company towards expansion in 2008, with an option to acquire 16 vessels from Teeh Sah Holdings. With these ships, he plans to expand to the trans Pacific market. However, we believe this deal will not be in Meli Marine s best interest at the moment, and the company will be better off without the acquisition. 2. Prelude to Acquisition Consideration 2.1 Market Attractiveness: Trans Pacific route appears attractive as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Given the significant risk of drops in volume and price, Meli Marine may not be able to achieve economies of scale nor break even should such a scenario occur. 3.1.4 Less than Optimal Ship Size: The vessels that Meli Marine planned to purchase were on average 4,500 TEU in size. This is smaller than the ideal size of 10,000 TEU for Asia North America route. The supersize ships were better able to achieve economies of scale through spreading the fixed cost over a larger shipping capacity. In this manner, due to a lower cost, competitors may be able to successfully undercut Meli through lower pricing. Thus should Meli Marine enter this market, they would begin with a cost disadvantage compared to their competitors. As further elaborated in Appendix B2, the long distance of Trans Pacific route also makes it unfeasible for Meli to replicate its successful operational strategy that it has implemented in Intra Asia. 3.1.5 Backlash from Competitors Feeders Line Mainline Operators: Expanding Meli s service to cover the Asia NA line will likely strain its relationship with existing feeder line channel partners (MLOs). The MLOs may stop partnering with Meli for other routes. Further, going head to head against established MLOs may intensify the threat of cascades. Also, if the influence of MLOs on current customers is larger Meli s, the MLOs may coax Meli s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. An Analysis Of Hans Taparia And Pamela Koch s New York... Rhetorical Analysis Essay: A Seismic Shift in How People Eat In Hans Taparia and Pamela Koch s New York Times online article A Seismic Shift in How People Eat, posted on November 6, 2015, the current struggle that big food companies are experiencing in relation to increased consumer awareness is discussed. Prompting this article is the overwhelming movement to healthy eating by the general populace and the havoc it is wreaking on corporate companies. Highly popular among health enthusiasts of all ages, the topic of this paper appeals to a wide audience. Although easily missed at first due to the beautiful flow and structure of the paper, the opinions and claims by Taparia and Koch are primarily based in logos where facts and statistics are quoted, and a fair amount of pathos where vivid imagery is utilized to paint a picture of the scenario for the reader. Differing slightly from the normal presentation, the ethos of the paper is not so much enforced through personal titles or anecdotes, but rather through the combination of presenting the ideas and facts clearly and persuasively, all adding to the author s credibility. When the paper comes to a conclusion, the reader is left with a solid understanding of how big food companies are finally being forced to share their dirty secrets and clean up their act in order to compete with the small scale, organic based companies and the jeopardy they are facing unless they change their ways drastically. As the paper begins, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Operation Chromite On 15 September 1950, Operation CHROMITE became one of the hallmark examples of amphibious warfare in history. In August during the Korean War, North Korean forces had egun their attacks on the Pusan Perimeter. Although the South Korean forces, along with U.N. forces, were holding the line at the Pusan perimeter, North Korea was determined to break through. As a last ditch effort by North Korea, they were able to push South Korean forces back. To turn the tide, US forces needed to get in behind enemy lines, secure Kimp o Airfield and rapidly advance to regain control of the Seoul city. This was endeavor was accomplished through the application of an amphibious assault at Inchon. General MacArthur is credited for this tactical decision at a time when amphibious warfare was considered obsolete, US military force reduction, and budget cuts. Compared to the past, amphibious operations has become a more than just an application to insert a force, it has become a means to shape a battlespace for multiple mission sets. Machine molding have several advantages over bench, floor and pit molding such as : Performing the same operations faster and more efficiently in a methodical precise manner. Producing identical and consistent castings. Producing castings of better quality at lower costs. The steps taken for casting in a squeeze machine are : In squeeze machine, the mould box with pattern and sand in it is placed on a fixed table. A flat plate or a rubber diaphragm is brought in contact with the upper surface of the loose sand and pressure is applied by a pneumatically operated piston. The squeezing action of the plate causes the sand particles to get packed tightly above and around the pattern. Squeezing is continued until the mould attains the desired density. In some machines, the squeeze plate may be stationary with the mould box moving upward. The density and hardness of the rammed sand at the bottom of the mould box is less when compared to its top portions and this can be considered as a disadvantage. Squeezer machines press the sand in the flask between the machine table and overhead plate. Greatest mold density is obtained at the side of the mold from which the pressure is applied. Because it is impossible to obtain uniform mold density by this method, squeezing machines are limited to molds only a few inches in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With no treatments available and a stigma that the effected persons were cowards or scared soldiers were often sent home with no supervision. During World War I physicians began calling it shell shock or combat fatigue , they believed that concussions caused by the impact of shells disrupting the brain caused the symptoms. Treatments included hospitalization and electric shock therapy. By World War II medical personnel noticed that soldiers that were engaged in longer more intense fighting had much higher levels or psychiatric disturbances and started using the term battle fatigue or combat exhaustion. Soldiers were being labeled as fearful and lacking in discipline and PTSD was still not fully recognized as a disorder, at this time treatment included barbiturates. As the Vietnam War began preventative measures were being taken to decrease the psychological impact of war on soldiers. Unfortunately as the war ended soldiers were often met with hostile demonstrations by anti war activists and society offered little acceptance of Vietnam veterans even years after the war. So, therefore these new findings of ideas did not agree with the way the Catholic Church was organized or the power of which the church held. Copernicus created this theory that was supported by Galileo. This theory argued about what was at the center of the universe, which was not the earth, but it was the sun (The Human Record, 41). Finding new discoveries regarding science was the idea Copernicus had in mind. He wanted people to become more interested in finding things as if they were scientist like himself. On the other hand, Galileo wanted people to stop including the bible into scientific findings. One of Galileo s findings as stated in the book, I hold the sun to be situated motionless in the center of the revolution of the celestial orbs while the Earth rotates on its axis and revolves about the sun (The Human Record, 42). By making the design section clear and concise, there is no question on what the researchers are trying to accomplish and what their goals are. Defining a population is critical to any conclusions in an article. Aristotles concept of catharsis Mimesis, Catharsis, and Pleasure: An Investigation into Aristotle s Tragic Pleasure Bradley Elicker Temple University Abstract: Aristotle writes the Poetics as an investigation into representational art and, more specifically, as an investigation into the art form of tragedy. While Aristotle goes into great detail regarding the technical aspects of creating and appreciating a work of tragedy, he is somewhat lacking in his descriptions of how tragedy is enjoyed by an audience. Aristotle speaks of this tragic pleasure in two ways; as the pleasure of mimesis, and as the pleasure of catharsis. He writes that each process is for the sake of an end 3 while an activity will be an end in 2 3 Nicomachean Ethics 1173a 29 33 Metaphysics 1048b 19 2 and of itself. He uses the examples of losing weight as opposed to seeing to show this difference. Aristotle writes that when one is in the process of losing weight, there is a specific end to which the process strives towards, this end is having lost weight. In the action of losing weight, the end is not present. The end of having lost weight will only occur after the process of losing weight has been completed. The same is not true of seeing. When we see something, the end is having seen it. This end is present in the action of seeing. When we say that we see something, we can also say that we have seen it. The end is in the action itself, and the action is its own end. In this way seeing is an activity and not a process. Aristotle writes that a process will have some type of duration between the time that it is begun and the time that it is completed. When someone attempts to lose weight, there is a certain duration of time between beginning the process of losing weight and the end of the process, having lost weight. By contrast, an activity is complete at all times. Nicomachean

The Blackfoot Indians have the same government as most tribes, and it has an interesting social organization. The Blackfoots also have some special customs and traditions, along with their art and literature. The Native American government can be a little complicated, but once it s explained it becomes clearer. The Native American government is a monarchy, though it was not always that way. Before the Europeans invaded, they had their own form of government. When the Europeans invaded they decided that each Native American tribe needed a chief to rule and look over the people. The United States rejected having a monarchy for its government, but thought that it would be acceptable to the Native Americans (Ojbiwa). The Blackfoot had an economy based on buffalo hunting, therefore their government was one based around buffalo hunting and movements. The title of chief, usually men, is not hereditary, the chief has to show good leadership qualities. The chief does not tell the people what to do, but tries to persuade them to do what he is thinking. The chief s job was to keep peace in the group, be generous, be able to persuade his/her people. Wayne Butler was accused of sadistically murdering Natasha Douty who was found beaten to death on Brampton Island in 1983. Wayne Butler was vacationing on Brampton Island during the timeframe of the murder; however, claimed to be jogging during this time. After submitting a blood test, Butler was eliminated as a suspect. However, Butler was arrested in 2001 for this murder because semen, which was found on the towel at the crime scene, was found to be a match. The John Tonge Centre performed a DNA test on the evidence on the towel. Butler was found innocent after it was identified that the John Tonge Centre mislabeled the test tubes containing the crime scene evidence. ( DNA Evidence ) This case proves that DNA testing may not be as reliable as we think. No two people, except identical twins, have identical DNA sequences, which makes DNA testing appealing to law enforcement. Two types of DNA testing include short tandem repeat and variable number tandem repeat. Short tandem repeat requires less DNA compared to variable tandem repeat, which is useful when a sample has been degraded at the crime scene. • 23. Character Analysis Of Lady Macbeth In the play Macbeth by William Shakespeare, the character Lady Macbeth and her various qualities are used to reinforce the idea that being ambitious can be beneficial, however it can also have dire consequences. This Shakespearean tragedy is set in Scotland during the Middle Ages, and follows the tale of Macbeth, a Scottish Thane, who succumbs to temptation in an attempt to fulfil a set of prophecies and become King. During the play he becomes consumed by his dark desires and murderous ambitions, which ultimately lead both himself and his wife to their deaths. The author s various messages surrounding being ambitious are shown through; the immense determination of Lady Macbeth, her successful manipulation of her husband, and her callous nature. These qualities and their implied messages to the audience are explored in the play through the use of; dialogue, symbolism and other various language features. One of Lady Macbeth s greatest strengths is her drive and determination to succeed in life. Moreover, she was willing to do anything, even kill her own child and dash d the brains out of it to get what she desired. Consequently this shows the immense lengths to which she is prepared to go to and it is also highlights of the fact that sometimes you have to make sacrifices in order for your objectives to be realised. The greatest sacrifice which Lady Macbeth makes is to that of her feminism, Make thick my blood, stop up the access and passage to remorse. This imagery of blood is an extreme example which shows that Lady Macbeth is willing to stop being a woman because of her great male ambitions. However, as with all the recurring blood imagery throughout the play, it is also a show of that fact that she will not feel any guilt for committing the atrocities she does nor will she regret the fact that she abandoned her womanhood. Consequently, the reason Lady Macbeth has been developed in such a way by the author is to show the cosmic power of females. Women have historically been oppressed and so Lady Macbeth would have had to fight her entire life in order to achieve greatness, whilst men like Macbeth get everything handed to them on a golden platter. Social constraints would have denied Lady Macbeth the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. Ethics Initially, my personal values distracted from my ability to sympathize with Bernard Ebbers conviction. His defense team argued that the trial judge wrongly instructed the jury that it could convict Mr. Ebbers on the basis that he engaged in conscious avoidance of the fraud at WorldCom. It is evident that Ebbers took a blind eye to any consideration to analyze the good stuff from the bad stuff in this situation. He failed to calculate the considerations of utility and as a result he is paying the consequences through a substantial decrease in his quality of life. Currently he is serving a 25 year sentence as inmate #56022 054 for 25 years in the Oakdale Federal Correctional Complex in Louisiana. His earliest date to be considered for good ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Deception, whether intentional or not, did occur. The shareholders had a right to know the financial state of WorldCom. In Ebber s defense, he had unscrupulous bed fellows on this board. Their intentions are also at question especially regarding their eagerness to grant Mr. Ebbers a breathtaking loan for $341 million dollar at an interest rate of 2% to shield the instability of the company s financial situation from shareholders. There were also some concerns whether such loans were ethical from the Security Exchange Commission Enforcement official Seth Taube. He stated that large loans to senior executives are commonly sweetheart deals involving interest rates that constitute a poor return on company assets. Federal prosecutors in New York cited Ebbers s expensive lifestyle, and his overspending, as a motive to hide WorldCom s mounting financial troubles. The impropriety associated with the largest loan any publicly traded company has lent to one of its officers in recent memory is evident. Unfortunately, if Ebbers had pressed the matter and sold his stock, he would have escaped the bankruptcy financially whole, but Ebbers honestly thought WorldCom would recover. The series of clever manipulations to bury almost $4 billion in misallocated expenses and phony account entries discovered by Cynthia Copper s team threw open Pandora s box. Ms. Cooper, a senior line manger, who worked for the WorldCom, CFO, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Describe how the second industrial revolution of the late nineteenth century differed from the first industrial revolution of the late eighteenth and early nineteenth century. This paper intends to compare the first industrial revolution of the 17th and 18th centuries and the second industrial revolution of the mid 18th and 19th centuries. It will highlight the transformation from the first revolution to the second revolution, focusing on the presence of giant firms and role of science and technology in economic activities. Additionally, it will introduce the two worldly philosophers Karl Marx and Adam Smith on these issues. Not only did the introduction of petrol engines made transportation more faster, it also helped with the development of the aircraft engine which meant that transportation of good was efficient. The medical science developed rapidly in 1850s various vaccines were discovered and x ray facilities were made available to doctors which created a more efficient way of diagnosing illness. For instance, the 1919 influenza epidermis saw the development of anti flu vaccines which made a remarkable milestone in the development of drugs. Prior to this discoverer it was common knowledge for people to blame certain aliment and natural occurrences as a punishment on God for sins committed e.g. 1755 Lisbon earthquake in Portugal. (Auerbach 2013) The remarkable element of changes in industrial revolution was the sharp increase in output of the newly technologically advanced industries. In 1701, the importation of raw cotton for spinning weight 1 million, however, a drastic increase by 1781 was 5million. Likewise textile technology by 1784 it was over 11million pound, nonetheless a massive increase by 1799 to 43million. (Hammond and Hammond 1937, p 162). The first industrial revolution emerged with small scale of industry which was managed mainly by the owners. Consequently, Workers and owners had good relationships, but productivity was low. • 37. Summary Of The Rainy Mountain By Momaday The statement that Momaday stated is very fitting for this book. I don t see any validity in the separation of man and landscape. For example the Rainy Mountain is important the Kiowa because they are nomadic people. They move around and migrated from western Montana to Oklahoma. The Rainy Mountain is like a place of union for the Kiowa people. It is a place where they come together and become one. Even thought the Kiowas have already been long gone they still live in spirit throughout the land. Momaday also called humans an alienation from nature. It basically says that we do not belong here because we disrupt the peacefulness of this world. Nature just takes enough to survive, but us human just take everything. Humans actually do more ... • 38. Seventh Circle In Dante s Inferno Drew Anderson ELA 12 Dante In The Inferno by Dante Alighieri, Dante is led down through hell by the ancient poet Virgil. As he descends through hell he progressively sees people who committed worse and worse crimes. Because of this we are able to see into the mind of Dante; and therefore, understand his thoughts on the volatility of the crimes committed. Personally I believe because of Dante being screwed in his own life plus the many backward thoughts of the time; Dante is much too harsh on humanity and he sends far too many people to hell. Dante s first circle is called Limbo. Limbo is just on the cusp of hell. People in Dante s limbo are not tortured and crying out they are just sighing because they lack hope of a better life. No tortured wailing rose to greet us here but sounds of sighing rose from every side. (canto IV) Limbo holds all people who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The seventh circle is for those who were violent. This includes people where violent against themselves because those violent against themselves denied their human form they are shown as trees in The Inferno, Puzzled I broke off a thorn: and the great trunk of it cried out. (canto 13 pg. 120) The eighth circle is for people who claimed to be prophets but weren t, people who stole, people who lie, and people who seduced others. The final circle of hell is for four men, Satan who betrayed god, Judas who betrayed Christ, and for those who betrayed Caesar. Dante ranks sins very differently than I would as well. Personally I believe he is much too harsh. I believe that limbo, heresy, and a portion of the lustful should not even be on the list. Limbo should be removed because these people did not even have a chance to make it to heaven. Heresy should be removed because most protestants were indoctrinated into their religion and really never had a choice in what religion they were. People who were lustful but did not commit adultery should not be sent to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
