Ryland Case Summary
At first the issues were minor like a little too much hydrilla here and there, the gate not working,
the pool had a gator in it or the likes but over time as the community grew the issues grew, often
gone ignored by Ryland but not by the homeowners. The clubhouse and pool for example are
strictly for residents use but due to the gates being open during the day till evening, people
giving out the security code to get in after hours and big advertising which made tourists believe
the community was meant for vacationing in, even if one didn t live there or have family or
friends they could stay with while visiting it didn t keep them from taking advantage of
overcrowding the pool and vandalism like broken alcohol bottles near pool property. Teenagers
who did not know better frequently hopped the fence guarding the pool eventually busting parts of
the fence, ruined the slide with obscenities like skateboarding down it when it wasn t on and
fishing in the lake when it s strictly prohibited due the fish serving a weed control purpose. These
people came to the community welcome or not, invitation or none and their vandalism grew over

Margot s Monologue
Goodbye mom! Goodbye dad! Goodbye! Bye! Margot called as she got on the spaceship. She
was going to Venus because Earth is now too over populated. Margot sat in her seat. She s only
four years old and she was going to a whole new planet, away from her parents. She waited on the
ship, getting ready to leave. Goodbye Mr. Sun, Margot said sadly because she knew that it
would be raining when she got there. It had been raining for at least a couple of years and she
knew she would not see it for a long time. Back on Venus... Look! That must be the new girl! I
wonder if she s seen the sun! Is it pretty?! I ve always wanted to know! one of the girls
exclaimed. This group of kids had been on Venus since they were two so they don t remember
seeing the sun. When Margot arrived, the children greeted her with a million questions like, What s

Exclusionary Rule And The Rule Of Law
Exclusionary Rule
Many constitutions all over the world provide basis for innocence until proven guilty. As such, the
courts of law must always factor in the provisions of criminal procedure and natural justice when
cross examining offenders. In light of this, the exclusionary rule allows a defendant to argue his
case if his privacy rights were violated before arraigned in court. In essence, the provisions of the
exclusionary rule prevent the government authorities and machinery such as FBI and CIA from
gathering evidence from an individual in a manner that disrespects the United States constitution.
Therefore, the exclusionary law protects an individual against unreasonable search or seizure in line
with the provisions of the Fourth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, the freedom to information by government authorities must not exceedingly surpass the
rights and privileges that citizens enjoy (Re and Richard, pg. 1887).
What is more, the exclusionary rule provides that the extra evidence obtained because of
unreasonable search or seizure will not be used in a court of law, as it will be considered fruit of
the poisonous tree. In essence, the exclusionary rule excludes any evidence collected out of
unlawful searches. For instance, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) may infringe on one his
right to privacy by obtaining information from the individual his computer, as this will amount to
unreasonable search and disrespect to the individual his privacy rights. As such, it is unreasonable
for the government agencies such as the Department of Justice to obtain information from Google,
Yahoo, Facebook, or any other online service provide, as this may be presumed by a court of law
as unlawful and unreasonable search that amounts to infringement on one s privacy rights (O Brien
and Michael, pg. 1889).
There has been an argument among legal experts that the provisions of the exclusionary rule are
merely to deter the misconduct of the law enforcement personnel. In light of this, most courts do
not adhere to the provisions of the exclusionary rule as it is viewed as an extension of the Fourth
Amendment. Ideally, Police officers deem the law as an obstacle on their endeavors to

College Admissions Essay
There was a warm breeze that Friday in September when I packed my two large bags, kissed my
family and friends good bye, and left my home. Thus the greatest adventure of my life was
begun. On my first day of studying in France, I woke up early and took a quasi shower, which
consisted of sprinkling myself with water for hours until all the soap finally drained out of my
hair. My dressing procedures were followed by a silent breakfast that consisted of some bitter
tasting, dark liquidand a hard, bread like substance. The bread I ate dry, for fear of the dark scary
looking pot of jam. I packed my books and headed off for class.
As soon as I left my street, a man on a bike stared at me as he passed. Stupid American, he ... Show

I waited patiently again for the green man. Several students passed me, and they all said, Does she
not know how to cross the street? Maybe she needs someone to hold her hand.
When I got through the stone wall that surrounds my city, there was a small bar, where men sat
outside drinking hard liquor at 8:00 in the morning. They all stared at me as I passed and thought
seriously about surrounding me and harassing me until I screamed for help. I walked carefully
down the narrow sidewalk of the street, until I passed a man walking the opposite way. He tried
to run me off the sidewalk and scowled at me just for being in his way. He thought, I wish these
Americans would learn how to walk. Not long after that, there was a strange and straggly looking
man in my path. He tried to stop me by asking me a question, but I kept walking. I didn t
understand the question because he said it in French, but I m pretty sure he was just trying to
torture and embarrass me.
When I passed the cafe just outside of my school, there were a number of beautiful people
drinking their morning coffees. They all stared at me in disgust as I passed, thinking, if we don t
get these ugly Americans out of our country soon . . .
Finally, I arrived at the little school where I would be taking classes. I pried open the enormous
wooden door and ran inside before I could be attacked

Michelle Carter Suicide
Is this the day you succumb to your problems and listen to the thoughts, or will you keep on going?
These are the thoughts that were running through Conrad Roy s mind when he was texting his
girlfriend. The Suicide by text case has prompted many people to discuss social issues such as
mental illness and the court system. Michelle Carter was a young teenager who texted her
boyfriend telling him to commit suicidemultiple times. She is now facing years in prison for
involuntary manslaughter. The court system failed with this case but not drastically. They gave
her 2.5 years when she should have been charged as an adult and received twenty years. In June,
Moniz found Carter guilty of involuntary manslaughter, describing her behavior as reckless.
Carter received less years than usual because it was considered reckless and she only wanted
attention. She did not get the full sentence because she was not loved as much as she felt she
should have been. She should have received the full years, but this case was not as bad as others.
The 2.5 year sentence is long, but not long enough for costing someone his life because she wanted
attention.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Overly Promiscuous Behavior
Following her parasuicidality symptom, Susanna also had the symptom of overly promiscuous
behavior. During high school, she spent the majority of her time solely focusing on her love for
literature and her various boyfriends. She describes herself as having boyfriends by the barrelful

would often question her on why she didn t expend as much energy on [her] schoolwork as [she]

Aside from being sent to McLean for her suicide attempt she was also sent there because of her
overriding emotion of exhaustion. The seemingly smallest tasks of walking through a door and
going several blocks to wait for a train rendered her weak (Kaysen 8). She was too tired to deal
with anything whether it was working at her job or dealing with her boyfriend. Thus her
overriding emotion for her life before being institutionalized was exhaustion. Her great loss of
energy even played a role in how quick she was sent to McLean. As when she first went to meet
the physician who later sends her to the psychiatric hospital in a taxi she thinks about escaping
from his office (Kaysen 8). Although just the effort that it would take to move her body and
escape affected her ability to move as her depression left her exhausted mentally and physically.

Food Borne Illness Analysis
In 2015 there was a foodborne illness outbreak at Chipotle; a common and very popular
restaurant. The outbreak had hit several states and a total of 22 were effected by E. Coli and
some even had to be hospitalized (Time 1). This goes to show that consumers are not being
concerned enough with the food they are eating, even at a favorite restaurant. Foodborne
illnesses are preventable, a common problem, and health issue, but they can be very serious and
even fatal. Studies shows that there have been 48 million cases of food borne illnesses annually
which is 1 in 6 Americans each year. This results in 128,000 hospitalizations and 3,000 deaths
(U.S Food and Drug 1). Food Borne illnesses are infections that are usually caused by bacteria,
molds and toxins, parasites, and allergens. Specific examples of the dangers of food safetyare
illnesses such as botulism, E. coli, and salmonella. These illnesses can lead to long term effects
including, kidney failure, chronic arthritis, brain damage, and even death. Most people are not
aware of the food they are consuming and need to be more concerned to prevent any further

Southern Concrete Case Summary
In early 1987, L A Construction Company started building a bridge in Apalachicola Florida. As the
general contractor, L A subcontracted concrete delivery to Southern Concrete Services. The
subcontract required Southern Concrete to obtain a performance bond. Southern received the bond
from Fidelity Deposit Company of Maryland, and started supplying the concrete that same year.
According to the court, it is agreed that Southern failed to provide sufficient concrete to L A in a
timely manner and breached the subcontract in numerous other particulars (L A Contracting
Company v. Southern Concrete Services, Inc., 1994). L A complained multiple times about
Southern Concrete s poor quality of concrete and the slow delivery rates. On May 29, 1987, L A

Causes Of The Monarch Butterfly
So are we just going to ignore the fact that Monarch Butterflies are in trouble? We re just going to
ignore the fact that we could easily help, but we choose not to?The monarch butterfly is an insect
that relies their life on milkweed plants and is currently facing the problem of milkweed declining,
but it can be solved by planting milkweeds causing the butterflypopulation to increase rapidly.
The Monarch Butterfly is a milkweed butterfly in the family Nymphalidae. It s the most common
butterfly in North America , and is considered an iconic pollinator species .(Conserving Monarch
butterflies And their habitats). The Monarch Butterflies have many nicknames such as, milkweed,
common tiger, wanderer and black veined brown (Danaus).
The Monarch Butterfly s life cycle has four stages, it begins with the egg, the caterpillar, the pupa,
and then it emerges into an Adult butterfly. The female adult monarch butterfly mates with a male
butterfly, and later lays its eggs specifically on a milkweed plant. After the eggs hatch, they turn into
larva. The larva then spins a silky mat which turns into a chrysalis. Finally, the larva merges into an
adult monarch butterfly.
The monarch butterflies differ in migration than the any other species that migrate as well. The
reason why the monarchs are different than other species is that they later come back to their
previous winter location while other species stay.Monarch Butterflies migrate over 300,000 miles,
for they can not stand the harsh cold temperatures. Every fall, they come from northern United
States of America and migrate to southern United States of America, and at times they migrate all
the way down to Mexico. Since monarch butterflies have a complicated life cycle (Migration)
monarchs that have emerged in the winter do not yet reproduce until they re in the summer or
spring season. On the other hand, monarch butterflies that are emerged in the summer or springtime
reproduce rapidly. In addition, it s important for the monarchs to know when they have to migrate to
the south and back to the winter.
Sadly, the monarch butterflies are drastically decreasing due to the fact that the plant they need to
survive, the milkweed plant, is slowly but surely diminishing.

Being A Good Pitcher Essay
Often times people who end up being great are the ones who are willing to put in the hardest work.
Being a good pitcher involves doing little things to put yourself in the best position possible.
Stretching, throwing, running and being smart are all essential parts of being a great pitcher.
Stretching out my muscles prevents arm, back, and leg injuries because throwing a baseballis not a
regular motion for the arm. I start with leg stretches such as toe touches and squats. This will
ensure that my hamstrings and quadriceps are ready to begin tossing. Squatting and rotating back
and forth is a great exercise for the back muscles. Arm stretches are by far the most vital for a
pitcherconsidering that s where most injuries happen. Arm... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Ten tosses from this position should get me loose enough to begin backing up. I throw about six
to seven throws at ten foot intervals. I back up to about one hundred and fifty feet or until I feel
my arm is extremely loose. One of the biggest mistakes made by pitchers is they don t work their
way back into their partner. I come back in throwing about three balls at each ten foot spot.
Whenever I hit the fifty foot mark, I began throwing a variety of pitches. For example, I ll throw
fastball, changeup, and curveballs. When I gain control over these pitchers, I go to the bullpen.
In the pen, I always begin and end with a fastball. I m ready to pitch in the game now. The most
over looked aspect of pitching is running. When I throw in a game, my arm becomes sore almost
instantly. To try and defend against this, I usually run immediately after and the days that follow
my throwing. The day that I am pitching is usually a light run of maybe a mile or so, but the
next two days are long distance runs of fifteen miles or more. A long run of constant arm moving
helps my arm to break up the lactic acid that makes my arm sore. This is one of the quickest ways
to get rid of soreness and be ready to pitch again

Rhetorical Analysis Of Night By Elezer Wiesel
The Message of the Memoir Night Eliezer Wiesel writes, Eliezer Wiesel is a Jewish Holocaust
survivor, an author, and a human rights activist. At the onset of the Holocaust however, Eliezer
Wiesel was a thirteen year old, small town boy of Sighet, Transylvania who by all accounts was
deeply observant (Wiesel 3). The Holocaustwas a dark time in Jewish history in which Anti
Semitics; mainly the German Nazis led by Hitler, tried to exterminate the Jews. As an author,
Eliezer uses an array of rhetorical appeals. Rhetorical appeals consist of pathos, logos, and ethos.
Pathos is appealing to the readers emotions and feeling, while logos is an argument based on facts,
evidence and reasoning, and ethos appeals to the readers sense of ethical behavior as credible,
trustworthy, and honest. In the memoir entitled Night, the author Eliezer Wiesel s uses the

In fact he writes Never shall I forget those moments which murdered my God and my soul and
turned my dreams to dust. Never shall I forget these things, even if I am condemned to live as
long as God Himself. Never (Wiesel 34 ). This means that he will never be able to unsee and/ or
forget all the terrible things that he witnessed during the Holocaust. Eliezer Wiesel would be an
example of ethos because he is seen as credible throughout the novel. This is because he was
actually and physically in the concentration camps and has witnessed the brutality that goes on
there; therefore he would be a primary source making him credible and trustworthy. We know that
he is an active witness because he has memories such as the one preceding that also demonstrate
the decline of his faith as he says Never shall I forget those moments which murdered my God
(Wiesel 34 ). This shows yet again that Eliezer does think that his God is

Technological Advances And Its Impact On The United States
From the time when the first English colonies were established in North America until now, there
has been some form of armed fighting force in place to protect the interests of the United States and
its colonial progenitors. During the roughly four centuries in which this fighting force has existed,
it has undergone numerous changes of varying degrees of significance. Technological advances
have changed the nature of both defensive and offensive warfare, political advances have changed
the nature of the relationship between the civilian population and its protectors, and geostrategic
shifts have changed the role of the United Statesmilitarywith respect to the rest of the world. The
most lasting and meaningful changes have occurred... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The conflict that eventually grew into King William s War would provide one of the first
opportunities for fighters from different colonies to cooperate in a larger military conflict on
behalf of the English Empire, and also to develop a sense of resentment toward the Crown for its
perceived failure to defend the colonies adequately (Williams, pp. 23 24). The colonists had
inherited their ancestors distrust of a standing army, primarily since they saw such an army as a
tool for the repression of liberty (Flashnick, Week 1). After the failure of the English army to assist
the colonial fighters to any meaningful degree during King William s War, this distrust was
confirmed and amplified. Two long term effects of the conflict were that it reinforced the American
preference for the citizen soldier and, by virtue of forcing cooperation between the colonies, it
paved the way for what would eventually become a united continental army. Queen Anne s War
was the second successive conflict during this period of transition for the colonial armed forces.
The colonies once again were forced to cooperate militarily, this time to an even greater extent than
had been the case during King William s War. This second war involved more of the colonies than
had previously fought together at any time, albeit with a substantial degree of reluctance on the part
of many, and

The naval side of the civil war in Florida all started with the Pensacola harbor. There was a navy

Consequences And Implications For The Globalization Of Crime
1)Held, describes globalisation as the growing interconnectedness of states and societies and the
progressive enmeshment of human communities with each other (Held,2000) over the last few
centuries, human communities have come into increasing contact with each other; their collective
fortunes have become intertwined (ibid) His definition is useful because it points to the long
history of the globalising processes. Globalisation also has consequences that come along with its
growth and interconnectedness, Held et al claimed that there had been a globalisation of crimedue to
the increasing interconnectedness of crime across national borders. Globalisation aids in creating
new opportunities for crime and new means of committing crime and new offences for example
various cyber crimes. A principal driver that can be identified to explain globalisations acceleration
in the last few decades is technology. Information and communication technology has allowed
international trade and finance to become despatialised to a large extent (J. Pakes 2013) This has
allowed outsourcing for instance, and the emergence of a truly global marketplace, increasing the
value and proficiency of multinational companies.
Consequences of globalisation for the discipline of criminology has beneficial advantages but it also
comes along with disadvantages. A beneficial effect is that Globalisation may help in making
people aware of global issues such as deforestation and global warming and alert

International Relations Concepts
International Relations 210
Midterm Assignment
1.What does it mean to study international relations?
The study of international relations pertains to the understanding of the rules of engagement
between the sovereign states. This study falls under the domain of political science and
international law studies. Based on the study of international relations, an individual gets an insight
into the foreign policies of a government, the political dynamics that are prevalent in a region and
overall global events awareness. It also enables understanding the entities of intergovernmental
organizations. Understanding of the international relations also pertains to comprehending the level
of declared and vested interests possessed by different states in the course of interaction with other
nations. Study of international relationship also pertains to finding amicable means towards the
resolution of the problems faced through diplomatic engagement of the parties (Wilkinson 2007).
2.How do realism and liberalism differ?
Realism is based on the mindset of military might, war hysteria and aiming to gain maximum
ground against the rivals. The military empowerment and use of force as a means to protecting
oneself makes up for the main idea of realism. In a practical scenario, the Cold war era depicted the
realism in terms of international relationship. In the light of realism, the countries aimed at
establishing their influence by providing military and other forms of

Differences Between Arab Immigrants And White Race
Arab immigrants living in the Western society often compare their identity to the White race. The
two main factors that differentiate the Arab immigrants and the Western White race are the two
factors of gender and religion. Gender relations is often associated with Arabs creating their
identity compared to the whites, this is because gender is associated with gender roles and the
hierarchy of power (Ajrouch, 2004, p. 372). Another type of comparison is the factor of religion;
White Christians often follow the Bible, which talk about the ideal breadwinner man and caretaker
women. But, studies have shown that between Christians and White women both were affected by
religiosity and ethnicity that relate to traditional gender roles (Ajrouch, 2004, p. 374) In the western
society, Arab women can choose to accept or... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This word is often associated with recent Arab immigrants who have not fully adopted the
mainstream culture (Ajrouch, 2004, p. 379). Moreover, the boater identity was seen as
undesirable label, therefore, more immigrants worked hard to get rid of this label over time to
be considered Arab American (Ajrouch, 2004, p. 380). Conflicts also arise between girls who
wear hijabs and those who choose not too; girls who wear hijabs are seen as morally superior
which symbolizes the pinnacle of respect and distances themselves from the idea of freedom
(Ajrouch, 2004, p. 383). Another aspect compares the relation between Arab men and women;

Finance
In terms of finance point of view cost of sales increase in 2013 near around 8 %(New ivory
finanacial.pdf) compare to previous year which substantially reduce operation profit. Along with
this there is huge amount of increase in administration expense. Major factor that contribute to
increase administrative expense is salary of employee (John Newton, Finance Controller).
Biggest cost factor at new ivory is ingredients and packaging cost and it contributes near around
50% of total cost of company. Out of 21 million cost, raw material and packaging and ingredients
cost cover near around 11 million(John Newton, Finance Controller).in terms of subdivide in
package and raw material cost, packaging cost include near around 50% and raw material cost
40% respectively. In terms to meet requirement of customer it is necessary for a company to stock
different type of packaging and it increase company s holding cost.
As per Mr. John Waste is another major factor which increase cost for company . So as per my
point of view strong implementation of lean principle will be very effective and proper forecasting
of customer order and on the basis of forecasting planning

Political Bias In Social Media
The media has been used, over the past years, to pass on information to the general public, as well
as to educate the public about developmental issues. The agenda setting theory of mass media
postulates that media gives the people what to think about, and influences how they think about it.
One of the phenomenal issues that has been greatly affected by mediais the Susan G. Komen
Foundation and Planned Parenthood controversy.
The Susan G. Komen Foundation is one of the leading foundations in the United States, which
gives funds to organizations involved in research for a cure for breast cancer in the name of Planned
Parenthood. The foundation announced that it would stop issuing funds for Planned Parenthood,
as it was under investigation by congress. This caused a political uproar, and led to many
controversial social media debates involving high profile politicians. Although the dynamics of
the media influenced the points of view and the perception of the controversy, it is evident that
the world of technology has, in a way, trivialized the connection between people and tremendously
affected the way ideas and opinions are spread around societies. Moreover, the political bias of the
media is affecting societies to a great extent. The main purpose of inquiry into this controversy is to
show how the dynamics of the media can twist a political issue to an absolutely different angle.
HISTORY OF THE CONTROVERSY
One of the latest media driven controversies is the Susan G.

Thinking During The Renaissance
The disciplines of thinking among the studies of art and science intertwine to form an
understanding from our truths. During the Renaissance, artists such as Leonardo da Vinci were
students of physiology, anatomy, and mathematics. The Baroque era furthered the study of art and
science with the influences of Galileo Galilei, Nicolaus Copernicus, and Isaac Newton to elevate
humanism as observed by the paintings of MichelangeloMerisi da Caravaggio and others. Later in
history, the Rococo period embellished the Baroque style for a more lavish expression of
playfulness among aristocracy during an age of Enlightenment. The Renaissance, Baroque, and
Rococo ages advanced disciplines of thinking in the scope of art and science by intertwining these

The Medical And Scientific Aspect Of Happiness
Is Happiness Within Our Grasp of Understanding Happiness is a very broad yet complex topic to
discuss. While most people try to explain happiness with philosophy, I will be writing more about
the medical and scientific aspect of happiness. There are two schools of thought on happiness, first
one being social happiness and the second one being solitary happiness with me learning towards
the former over the ladder. Medically, happiness comes down to a handful of chemicals (also called
neurotransmitters) in the brainand if you are happy or not it comes down to the levels of these
chemicals in the brain.
Endocannabinoids or also known as the bliss chemical, contrary to popular belief adrenaline is not
a cause of runner s high as it can not cross the blood brain barrier but endocannabinoids levels are
elevated after a run suggesting that endocannabinoids are the cause of runner s high. This is in the
same group of chemicals that cannabis THC is in. The Endocannabinoid system is not found in all
animals, it is mainly found in mammals most notable humans and canines. Not very well known
but this is main feel good neurotransmitter.
The reward neurotransmitter called dopamine is the chemical that causes you to feel good after
you reach a set goal you have made. Most drugs make people happy by causing dopamine to
remain in the synaptic cleft longer which is the space between where the neurons (brain cells in
this case) touch other cells. Risk seekers have elevated

Beowulf Versus Shrek

Shrek versus Beowulf (Hero s Journey) Joseph Campbell dedicated his whole life researching
patterns that appear in almost every hero story or movie. He discovered that there are a few basics
stages that just about every hero character goes through. This cycle is called the monomyth or
more commonly known as the hero s journey. This paper will compare and contrast Beowulf and
Shrek and how each fits into the monomyth. Every story that involves a hero will subsequently

accurate. The last stage of the heroes journey that will be analyzed using the stories Shrek and

Rapid adoption of new technologies and improved rural infrastructure induced productivity
growth. The government spending on productivity enhancing investments (especially
agricultural research and extension), rural infrastructure (especially roads and education), and
rural development targeted directly to the rural poor, all contribute to the growth in agricultural
productivity. Avila and Evenson (2004) have utilized FAO published data on cropland,
pastureland, labour used in agriculture, fertilizer, seeds, tractors and combine harvesters and
animal stocks for measuring the changes in TFP for crop production, livestock production and
aggregate agricultural production for two periods, 1961 1980 and 1981 2001. Owing to the
limitation of data on factor shares, the TFP growth rates seem to be on a higher side. Modern
varieties of the Green Revolution increase in the education level of labour force, and increases
in dietary energy have been reported as sources of TFP growth in the paper. Modern varieties
contributed maximum (64%) to TFP growth, followed by Schooling (22 %) and nutrition (14
%). Birthal et al. (1999) have analyzed the trend in TFP for the livestock sector in India. The
livestock output grew at the rate of 2.6 per cent per year over the period 1950 51 to 1995 96. The
input index increased by 1.8 per cent per year and the TFP grew at about 0.8 per cent, implying
that technical change contributed about 30 per cent to the overall growth over the past 45

Cultural Conflict In The Namesake By Jhumpa Lahiri
Have you ever felt a cultural conflict within yourself? The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri is a
novel about a character named Gogol who struggles with living an American lifestyle, while also
sticking to his Bengali heritage. Through the people around him and his very own name, Gogol
has an inner conflict between his Bengali side, and his American side. Gogol responds to this by
neglecting his Bengali side and being more American. The people Gogol met while growing up
in America caused the most wars in which he left his own customs, to be more like everybody
else. For example, when Gogol moves in with Maxine and her parents, he learns a lot of
differences from Maxine s family and his own. One significant difference is the way each family
throws gatherings. Gogol says to himself He has fallen the tiniest bit in love with Lydia and with
the understated, unflustered way she entertains. He is always struck by these dinners: only a
dozen or so guests sitting around the candlelit table, a carefully selected mix of painters, editors,
academics, gallery owners, eating the meal course by course, talking intelligently until the evening
s end. How different they are from his own parents parties, cheerfully unruly evenings to which
there were never fewer than thirty people invited, small children in tow. Fish and meat served side
by side, so many courses that people had to eat in shifts, the food still in the pans they were cooked

The Test Of Emotional Intelligence Test

It is always an eye opener to learn something about yourself that you did not know. I found the

would like to think that we can look at someone and decide not only their mood but also if they

test. It evaluates such things as self awareness, self management, social awareness, and relationship

Persistent Poverty in South Carolina
Poverty within the United States is defined as having an income below a federally determined
poverty threshold. Poverty thresholds were developed by the United States government in the 60s
to benchmark levels of subsistence. Over time these thresholds are often adjusted to account for
inflation; it is now typical for the federal government to adjust the poverty threshold levels
annually. Poverty levels represent the government s estimate of the point below which a family
has insufficient resources to meet their basic needs. Any family with less income than the
established poverty amount is officially classified as poor or as living in poverty. Income as
defined by the federal rules can include cash and cash welfare assistance, but excludes any in kind

Soldiers At The United States Army
Soldiers Preparation in the U.S. Army Similarly, United States Army has extreme concern with
the specific preparation of Soldiers. Therefore, it has developed a program called Physical
Readiness Training (PRT). The program s goal is to train Soldiers to be ready to work in hard
duties and sustain activity in assignments or in combat roles (FM 7 22, 2012). The PRT has a
high concern with Soldiers health, presenting preparation, recovery, strength and mobility, posture

physical condition: the conditioning phase, the sustaining phase, and the reconditioning phase.
First, the initial conditioning phase is responsible for the practice part in order to develop the
movement skills the correct way and prepare Soldiers for the next phase. The second phase is the

Conspiracy Theories Of William Shakspeare
Sometimes there are holes in the understanding and knowledge we have of things. To help us
understand, we try and patch those holes with what are called conspiracy theories. William
Shakespeare s life is one big quilt filled with holes. People all over the world have come up with
conspiracy theories to try and fill these gaps in his life. Some are made with educated guesses
while others are just wild theories made by people who just happened to stumble upon William
Shakespeare. The different theories people have fabricated has caused a major controversy over the
authorship of William Shakespeare s famous plays.
With the few surviving documents we have, we can see small glimpses into the life of William

actor who grew up in the English town of Stratford upon Avon. He spent his professional career
in London, England before returning to Stratford. He was born in April 1564, died in April
1616, and is buried in inside the chancel of Holy Trinity Church in Stratford. The rest of his life
is a textbook full of blank pages and all we have to fill them are his plays. We can, however,

what we know about the time period he lived in and the town he resided in. We know that the

The Health Belief Model Is Used For Health Promotion And...
The Health Belief Model is commonly used for health promotion and health education. Its
underlying concept is that health behavior is explained by perception of the disease and the
strategies available to lower its occurrence. There are four perceptions of the HBM, which are
perceived seriousness, perceived benefit, perceived susceptibility and perceived barriers. In
addition to that, more constructs are added to health belief model that includes motivating factor,
cues to action and self efficacy. Each of these constructs in combination or individually, could be
used to determine health behavior. The HBM also provides guidelines for the program
development allowing planners to address reasons for non compliance with recommended health
action. The health belief model is a process used to promote healthy behavior among individuals
who may be at risk of developing adverse health outcomes. A person must gauge their perceptions
of severity and susceptibility of developing a disease. Then it is essential to feel vulnerable by
these perceptions. Environmental factors can play a role as well as cues to action such as media,
and close friends. In order to determine that taking action will be meaningful, the benefits to change
must be weighed, against the barriers to change behavior (Green Murphy, 2014).

and unwelcoming. The environment around me affected my self confidence significantly, in a
negative way. Therefore, I felt trapped and alone. I almost felt like I was suffocating and there
was no way to escape this horrifying nightmare. One specific example I had at Fairfield
University contributed to my self esteem immensely. The friend group I made decided not to be
friends with me anymore because my ex boyfriends new girlfriend did not like my presence
when I was around. Basically, she made my life a living hell, and my so called best friends did
not even look me in the face when I walked by. That is when I knew it was time for a major
change in my life. After this experience I learned a lot about myself. For example, I was
discouraged by this particular situation; however, this experience made me realize how strong and
independent I am. Attending Fairfield University was not a mistake, it was a life lesson that made
me learn new qualities about myself, and helped shape not only my identity, but my life into

Aditive Approach
The United States is full of different ethnicities and races with different cultures and are accustomed
to a variety of different behaviors and ways of learning. It is essential that the curriculum within the
Nation s schools, colleges, and universities are reflected to the ethnic, cultural, and racial diversity
within the United States. Schools, colleges and universities are using various approaches to inspire
ethnic content into the curriculum, including the contributions, additive, transformation, and social
action approaches. To respond adequately to the ethnic realities with the nationand the world, the
curriculum should be transformed and should help students to develop decision making and social
action skills. According to the book... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Major goals of instruction in this approach are to educate students for social criticism and social
change and to teach them decision making skills. For example, promoting human rights and peace
at schools and working to ensure that the schools building and activities do not harm the
environment. To empower students and help them obtain political efficacy, the school must help
them become reflective social critics and skilled participants in social change (Banks 1989). The
traditional goal of school has been to socialize students so they would accept unquestioningly the
existing ideologies, institutions, and practices within society and the nation state.
I believe that each approach stated by James Banks is important in its own way and do not over
power one another. The four approaches to the integration of ethnic content into the curriculum I
described above are often mixed and blended in actual teaching situations. An important goal that all
of these approaches share are teaching about racial, cultural, and ethnic diversity which should be to
empower students with knowledge, skills, and attitudes they need to participate in civil action that
will help transform our world and enhance the possibility for human

The Importance Of Elephant Communication
Humans are better than animals at interpreting not only verbal but also nonverbal cues. Most
animals can understand some nonverbal messages; for example, two cats that are not sure of each
other arch their backs. A dog carrying a toy to another dog means he or she wants to play; sniffing
another dog s derriere is simply introducing itself and learning about the dog from its scents.
Licking a humans face means the dog is showing a sign of love and affection. Elephants, because
they are very intellectual have many forms of nonverbal communication; such as, wrapping their
trunks around each other, as a sign of excitement, rubbing their bodies against each other to show
affection or a male raising his trunk to show dominance ( Elephant Communication1). Animals can
interpret nonverbal cues in their own species. Humans can interpret their own cues but they can
also interpret the cues of other animal species ; for example, humans know that when a cat
arches its back, it is either scared or angry and when a dog lays its head on your leg, it wants
attention and love. Humans nonverbal communication consists of facial expressions; such as a
smile when happy or a frown when sad, body language; such as crossed arms which means I m
in charge and not open to suggestions; vocal articulation and inflection, for example, raising a
voice or a soft, consoling voice and finally, body gestures; like a raised hand which means to stop
or stay. Only a few of these are understood by other animal

Essay On The US Constitution Afloat
The history of America has been the ballast for our future. We fought many battles to gain the
independence that we take for granted today. There have been countless great men who have built
the stern of this great nation. Some of those men were the founding fathers. The founding fathers
incorporated the Constitution so we would have a future of freedom and stability. When I was
little, my father, who was in the U.S. Navy, told me about the time he escorted the U.S.S.
Constitution, which was the first time the ship had sailed in 116 years. Afterwards, he proceeded to
tell me the history of the ship and what it meant for the founding of our nation. The ship was named
by George Washingtonhimself and he named it after the Constitution. Furthermore... Show more

Afterwards, the American people joined as one to show their passion for their country by fighting
to keep the U.S.S. Constitution afloat. Therefore, the U.S.S. Constitution is a visual aid for the
written Constitution that has guided our nation over the years. The Constitution forged by our
founding fathers has a similarity to the U.S.S. Constitution with the purpose of leading and
protecting America and its future. When the Constitution was written, the purpose of the document
was to separate the powers of the government and grant citizens of the U.S. rights. The founding
fathers wanted to ensure there would be a preservation of rights such as the freedom of religion or
the right to bear arms. As previously stated in history by Thomas Jefferson: What country can
preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the
spirit of resistance. Let them take arms. The Constitution has been a rudder to keep the United States
freedom since 1787, and to continue that, Americans will need to follow the guidelines set forth by
the Constitution. Granting all this, there is corruption going on currently in the government,
especially within the NSA. In July of 2012,

Symbolism In Secret Window, Secret Garden By Stephen King
In the gothic novella, Secret Window, Secret Garden, by Stephen King, the author uses mirrors as
symbols to distinguish between reality and the imaginary. Whenever King references mirrors, Mort
struggles with grasping actuality, thus Mort creates his own reality that deteriorates his mental
state and ultimately his life. For instance, Mort believes that shooter is in his house, yet ironically
Mort was not Shooter he was afraid of , but rather he was afraid of finding nothing , because
internally, Mort knows that Shooters existence is simply an illusion (391). As Mort goes around
the house looking for Shooter, he approaches the bathroom and looks into the mirror and realizes
that the reflection of the mirror wasn t Shooter at all but

Personal Profit s Crucial Role in Defining a Human Being
Personal Profit s Crucial Role in Defining a Human Being
College. The word brings to mind the struggle of being accepted to a top tier university. The intense
competition seen in high schools around the country to earn a seat in prestigious schools can
consume student s lives to such a degree as to corrupt their sense of place. The competition drives
students to commit uncharacteristic and almost unconceivable actions. Many cheat their way into
college by manipulating affirmative action and as a result intentionally sabotage a peer s chances of
succeeding. This pursuit highlights a false sense of entitlement among students and fosters a hostile
feeling toward peers. A similar situation is seen throughout many works of literature such as Heart
of Darkness, by Joseph Conrad, where a mariner named Marlow, who uncovers the mysteries and
horrors of the African interior, seeks to meet an esteemed figure named Kurtz. When Marlow
discovers Kurtz s true nature and actions, he realizes the extreme degree of corruptness the human
race possesses. In Heart of Darkness, Joseph Conrad suggests that humans only seek personal profit,
shown through character relationships between Marlow and the African natives, the manager, and
Kurtz.
Heart of Darkness depicts the corrupt nature of humanity by illustrating Africans who sold out their
own race to Europeans and enslaved them solely for the personal gain of not becoming a slave
themselves. When Conrad originally visits the Outer Station,

My Great Sacrifice When My Husband was Deployed Essay
Until I felt the effects of sacrifice last year, I never knew what strength truly meant. At the time
strength did not seem possible during my husband s year long deployment. A favorite quote of mine
by an unknown author matched my situation. You never know how strong you are until being
strong is the only choice you have. During this year long sacrifice, I found strength not only in
myself but also from the love between me and my husband.
Deployment is a word that all military spouses and military families dread to hear. When my
husband came home to our barely moved in house with news of his deployment to Afghanistan, I
was devastated. Though we received terrible news, we also felt incredible joy that same week. I
was pregnant with our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My heart ached like I was hit with a ton of bricks. The white busses were lined up and it was time
to say goodbye. I did not want to take the time we had left for granted. Our hug seemed like it
lasted for an eternity; each time we would let go we would grab each other once more for another
strong embrace. Wiping away my tears, my husband made a promise to me and our unborn son that
he would stay safe and would come home soon. He told me this was not a goodbye but only an I
will see you soon. His ever so caring smile calmed me and I was able to let him go.
On December 5th 2012 our son was born. We were so grateful for the time my husband was able
to come home for our son s birth. Not many other soldiers have that opportunity. We were able to
spend ten days as a family, but it just meant we had to say goodbye again. For some reason, our
second goodbye was not as difficult as our first. I knew I had to be strong for my husband and our
son.
Every day we looked forward to my husband s homecoming. I kept a countdown on the white
board hanging on the fridge. It was another day down and another day being reunited again. As
that written number lessened, I became more anxious for his homecoming. Three hundred sixty
five days later, my husband arrived safely on US ground. I felt like a kid on Christmas morning. I
felt both nervous and excited at the same time. My family was finally reunited. Our missing puzzle
piece was finally home. All the

The Debate On Virtual Child Pornography
Lindsay Hall
Thinking and Doing Ethics

Word count 849
Case 1(Ruggiero 173). We have the debate and Supreme Court ruling in 2002 that stated the ban on
virtual child pornography was unconstitutional, and in turn, The Federal Child Pornography
Prevention Act was overturned. The parties involved are the disgusting, scum of the earth who
produce this ungodly entertainment for sick minded pedophiles, the US Supreme Court who
have taken an oath to protect the innocent, and the putrid pedophiles who watch this abomination
of god and all that is evil. In addition to every child that ever was, and every child that will be
sexually abused in the future because some sick f!*k gets his/her jollies off by watching
children being tortured, and will at some point in time inflict the lifelong pain and suffering that
one goes through, because they were sexually abused. (Emphasis intentionally and harshly
added)The morals are, sex with children is immoral, an abomination to God s teachings,
watching the same, even if only graphics is still a grave sin. If you think of doing sin, it is as
bad as the sin itself. Therefore, watching a cartoon of a child being abused and having sexual
gratification in that act, is as bad as one who actually commits the act. You heard it was said, Do
not commit adultery, but I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman in order to covet her has
already committed adultery with her in his heart. (Matthew

Marcez Mejias
Lament for Ignacio Sanchez Mejias by poet Lorca is an elegy for the dead bullfighter told
through the eyes of the poet himself. Lorca s poem demonstrates how the narrator of the poem
guides what the reader knows and does not know through the use of a first person point of view.
The images and emotions experienced through narrator allows one to compare Lorca to a movie
director or an editor. Lorca uses a first person point of view in order to demonstrate the lament for
the dead as they deprived of the achievements that could have been theirs. Lorca uses a first person
point of view throughout the poem to reveal the narrator s initial feelings of depression towards the
untimely deathof his close friend Ignacio Sanchez Mejias. In the first... Show more content on

However, as the poem continues, Lorca shows how he will gradually learn to accept death as it
is an inevitable process of life. However, the narrator fails to explain why these two are such close
friends. This forces the reader to create his or her observations on why they are close. One
assumption is that Lorca is exploring his homosexuality under the conservative Spanish society.
Lorca s powerful emotions and images throughout his poem enabling his readers to also experience
what he experienced throughout the use of first person. One can make a strong argument that
Lorca can be compared to a movie director or editor. Just like how a movie director chooses what
scenes to shoot and how they are shot, Lorca chooses how he wants to portray the images and
emotions throughout the poem.
Throughout the third section of the poem Lorca laments on how Mejias losses out further
achievements because of his early death. Lorca writes, All is finished. What is happening? Lorca
asks what happens after death, a common theme throughout his early poems. Here Lorca laments
for humanity as death shuts humans out of fulfillment that could have been theirs if they were still

Personal Injury Documentation
Injury Documentation: What Will Help Win Your Case Personal injuries can often leave people
with medical bills, lost wages, and plenty of pain and suffering during the recovery process.
There is so much on the line and you will want to take steps to document your recover.
Documenting your injury in the following ways can help you win your case in court and
receive the compensation you deserve. Medical Records Medical records tell two sides of the
story in a personal injury case. The urgency that you visited the doctor will reflect how seriously
you took your injury. If you have medical records that show you visited the emergency room right
after the injury happened, it definitely helps prove that the significance of the injury is real.
Medical bills can also be a way to add up all previous... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Receiving late medical attention may cause the defendant to say that your injury wasn t serious,
or that the injury happened elsewhere and is not related to the original incident. Seeking
immediate medical attention can help disprove any of those theories about how you were
injured. Pictures Some people make the mistake of not taking any photos of an injury during
recovery. The thought process is that you can just show the injury as proof that it happened, but
the personal injury lawsuit process can go on for months or years. By the time you go into court
or mediation, the physical evidence may be gone. You will want to take pictures of the injury
throughout the entire recovery process. Your medical records may paint a complete picture about
how bad your injury was at the time, know that a jury will be able to react to photos much easier
when presented with evidence. It is important to take a progression of photographs during recovery,
capturing the injury at its best and worst state. For instance, bruising can often get worse before it
starts to get better. Journal

Essay on Zora Neale Hurston
On January 7, 1891, Zora Neale Hurston was born in the tiny town of Notasulga, Alabama. She
was the fifth of eight children in the Hurston household. Her father John was a carpenter,
sharecropper, and a Baptist preacher; and her mother Lucy, a former schoolteacher. Within a year
of Zora s birth, the family moved to Eatonville, Florida; a town, which held historical significance
as the first, incorporated Black municipality in the United States. In 1904, thirteen year old Zora
was devastated by the death of her mother. Later that same year, her unaffectionate father removed
her from school and sent her to care for her brother s children. A rambunctious and restless
teenager, Zora was eager to leave the responsibility of that household.... Show more content on

In 1925, Hurston headed to New York, just as the Harlem Renaissance was at its crest. She
enrolled in Barnard College to study under Franz Boas, the father of anthropology. While there,
Hurston married an old Howard boyfriend named Herbert Sheen, but the marriage was short
lived. After graduation, Zora returned to her hometown of Eatonville to collect folklore as
material for her blossoming writing career. The late 1920 s marked a resurgence of her literary
muse as Hurston published several works, and consequently gained financial sponsorship from
wealthy New York patrons. The 1930 s and early 1940 s marked the peak of Hurston s literary
career. It was during this time that she completed graduate work at Columbia, published four
novels and an autobiography, and was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship. Her writing brought
her to the Caribbean where she became so intrigued by the practice of voodoo that she began
incorporating these supernatural elements into her novels and stories. Although her work was
receiving increasing acclaim from the white literati of New York, Zora often felt under attack from
many members of the Black Arts Movement. She termed these detractors, members of the
quot;niggerati quot;, for being close minded in their criticism of her racial politics. By the mid
1940s Hurston s writing career was faltering. At one point she was arrested and

Compare And Contrast City And City Life
There comes a time in everyone s life when we ask ourselves the age old question which has
tormented so many, Should I live in the city or in the country? Imagine deciding whether to live in
just one specific area for the rest of your life. Many would argue that the hectic lifestyle that a big
city provides clearly places it ahead of a suburban landscape. Others, however, would claim that the
serene and restful environment of the countryside is much more satisfying than the citycould ever
be. It is important to be clear that not all vast cities are the same, and it goes the same way for the
suburban regions of America. The city and country lifestyleare two distinct types of living, each
with their own pros and cons that may overlap at times. Between these two, there are numerous
differences when looking at their environment, distinct social opportunities, and contrastive cost of
living. One way or another, all the facts will be laid down, and a deeper insight into why people
settle in either the city or the suburbs shall become apparent.
At first glance, it is obvious that there are many pros and cons when it comes to deciding a
lifestyle in either one of these surroundings, so careful assessment of all details are required to
make the ideal decision for what a future resident might expect. To start off, it would seem that the
majority of city apartments can be quite affordable in a rent controlled zone and are much more
practical for poor families, or even

Ryland Case Summary At first the issues were minor like a little too much hydrilla here and there, the gate not working, the pool had a gator in it or the likes but over time as the community grew the issues grew, often gone ignored by Ryland but not by the homeowners. The clubhouse and pool for example are strictly for residents use but due to the gates being open during the day till evening, people giving out the security code to get in after hours and big advertising which made tourists believe the community was meant for vacationing in, even if one didn t live there or have family or friends they could stay with while visiting it didn t keep them from taking advantage of overcrowding the pool and vandalism like broken alcohol bottles near pool property. Teenagers who did not know better frequently hopped the fence guarding the pool eventually busting parts of the fence, ruined the slide with obscenities like skateboarding down it when it wasn t on and fishing in the lake when it s strictly prohibited due the fish serving a weed control purpose. She s only four years old and she was going to a whole new planet, away from her parents. She waited on the ship, getting ready to leave. Goodbye Mr. Sun, Margot said sadly because she knew that it would be raining when she got there. It had been raining for at least a couple of years and she knew she would not see it for a long time. Back on Venus... Look! That must be the new girl! I wonder if she s seen the sun! Is it pretty?! I ve always wanted to know! one of the girls exclaimed. • 4. Exclusionary Rule And The Rule Of Law Exclusionary Rule Many constitutions all over the world provide basis for innocence until proven guilty. As such, the courts of law must always factor in the provisions of criminal procedure and natural justice when cross examining offenders. In light of this, the exclusionary rule allows a defendant to argue his case if his privacy rights were violated before arraigned in court. In essence, the provisions of the exclusionary rule prevent the government authorities and machinery such as FBI and CIA from gathering evidence from an individual in a manner that disrespects the United States constitution. Therefore, the exclusionary law protects an individual against unreasonable search or seizure in line with the provisions of the Fourth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition, the freedom to information by government authorities must not exceedingly surpass the rights and privileges that citizens enjoy (Re and Richard, pg. 1887). What is more, the exclusionary rule provides that the extra evidence obtained because of unreasonable search or seizure will not be used in a court of law, as it will be considered fruit of the poisonous tree. In essence, the exclusionary rule excludes any evidence collected out of unlawful searches. For instance, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) may infringe on one his right to privacy by obtaining information from the individual his computer, as this will amount to unreasonable search and disrespect to the individual his privacy rights. As such, it is unreasonable for the government agencies such as the Department of Justice to obtain information from Google, Yahoo, Facebook, or any other online service provide, as this may be presumed by a court of law as unlawful and unreasonable search that amounts to infringement on one s privacy rights (O Brien and Michael, pg. 1889). There has been an argument among legal experts that the provisions of the exclusionary rule are merely to deter the misconduct of the law enforcement personnel. In light of this, most courts do not adhere to the provisions of the exclusionary rule as it is viewed as an extension of the Fourth Amendment. Ideally, Police officers deem the law as an obstacle on their endeavors to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. College Admissions Essay There was a warm breeze that Friday in September when I packed my two large bags, kissed my family and friends good bye, and left my home. Thus the greatest adventure of my life was begun. On my first day of studying in France, I woke up early and took a quasi shower, which consisted of sprinkling myself with water for hours until all the soap finally drained out of my hair. My dressing procedures were followed by a silent breakfast that consisted of some bitter tasting, dark liquidand a hard, bread like substance. The bread I ate dry, for fear of the dark scary looking pot of jam. I packed my books and headed off for class. As soon as I left my street, a man on a bike stared at me as he passed. Stupid American, he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I waited patiently again for the green man. Several students passed me, and they all said, Does she not know how to cross the street? Maybe she needs someone to hold her hand. When I got through the stone wall that surrounds my city, there was a small bar, where men sat outside drinking hard liquor at 8:00 in the morning. They all stared at me as I passed and thought seriously about surrounding me and harassing me until I screamed for help. I walked carefully down the narrow sidewalk of the street, until I passed a man walking the opposite way. He tried to run me off the sidewalk and scowled at me just for being in his way. He thought, I wish these Americans would learn how to walk. Not long after that, there was a strange and straggly looking man in my path. He tried to stop me by asking me a question, but I kept walking. I didn t understand the question because he said it in French, but I m pretty sure he was just trying to torture and embarrass me. When I passed the cafe just outside of my school, there were a number of beautiful people drinking their morning coffees. They all stared at me in disgust as I passed, thinking, if we don t get these ugly Americans out of our country soon . . . Finally, I arrived at the little school where I would be taking classes. • 6. Michelle Carter Suicide Is this the day you succumb to your problems and listen to the thoughts, or will you keep on going? These are the thoughts that were running through Conrad Roy s mind when he was texting his girlfriend. The Suicide by text case has prompted many people to discuss social issues such as mental illness and the court system. Michelle Carter was a young teenager who texted her boyfriend telling him to commit suicidemultiple times. She is now facing years in prison for involuntary manslaughter. The court system failed with this case but not drastically. They gave her 2.5 years when she should have been charged as an adult and received twenty years. In June, Moniz found Carter guilty of involuntary manslaughter, describing her behavior as reckless. Carter received less years than usual because it was considered reckless and she only wanted attention. She did not get the full sentence because she was not loved as much as she felt she should have been. She should have received the full years, but this case was not as bad as others. The outbreak had hit several states and a total of 22 were effected by E. Coli and some even had to be hospitalized (Time 1). This goes to show that consumers are not being concerned enough with the food they are eating, even at a favorite restaurant. Foodborne illnesses are preventable, a common problem, and health issue, but they can be very serious and even fatal. Studies shows that there have been 48 million cases of food borne illnesses annually which is 1 in 6 Americans each year. • 11. Causes Of The Monarch Butterfly So are we just going to ignore the fact that Monarch Butterflies are in trouble? We re just going to ignore the fact that we could easily help, but we choose not to?The monarch butterfly is an insect that relies their life on milkweed plants and is currently facing the problem of milkweed declining, but it can be solved by planting milkweeds causing the butterflypopulation to increase rapidly. The Monarch Butterfly is a milkweed butterfly in the family Nymphalidae. It s the most common butterfly in North America , and is considered an iconic pollinator species .(Conserving Monarch butterflies And their habitats). The Monarch Butterflies have many nicknames such as, milkweed, common tiger, wanderer and black veined brown (Danaus). The Monarch Butterfly s life cycle has four stages, it begins with the egg, the caterpillar, the pupa, and then it emerges into an Adult butterfly. The female adult monarch butterfly mates with a male butterfly, and later lays its eggs specifically on a milkweed plant. After the eggs hatch, they turn into larva. The larva then spins a silky mat which turns into a chrysalis. Finally, the larva merges into an adult monarch butterfly. The monarch butterflies differ in migration than the any other species that migrate as well. The reason why the monarchs are different than other species is that they later come back to their previous winter location while other species stay.Monarch Butterflies migrate over 300,000 miles, for they can not stand the harsh cold temperatures. Every fall, they come from northern United States of America and migrate to southern United States of America, and at times they migrate all the way down to Mexico. Since monarch butterflies have a complicated life cycle (Migration) monarchs that have emerged in the winter do not yet reproduce until they re in the summer or spring season. On the other hand, monarch butterflies that are emerged in the summer or springtime reproduce rapidly. In addition, it s important for the monarchs to know when they have to migrate to the south and back to the winter. Sadly, the monarch butterflies are drastically decreasing due to the fact that the plant they need to survive, the milkweed plant, is slowly but surely diminishing. On ... • 13. Being A Good Pitcher Essay Often times people who end up being great are the ones who are willing to put in the hardest work. Being a good pitcher involves doing little things to put yourself in the best position possible. Stretching, throwing, running and being smart are all essential parts of being a great pitcher. Stretching out my muscles prevents arm, back, and leg injuries because throwing a baseballis not a regular motion for the arm. I start with leg stretches such as toe touches and squats. This will ensure that my hamstrings and quadriceps are ready to begin tossing. Squatting and rotating back and forth is a great exercise for the back muscles. Arm stretches are by far the most vital for a pitcherconsidering that s where most injuries happen. Arm... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ten tosses from this position should get me loose enough to begin backing up. I throw about six to seven throws at ten foot intervals. I back up to about one hundred and fifty feet or until I feel my arm is extremely loose. One of the biggest mistakes made by pitchers is they don t work their way back into their partner. I come back in throwing about three balls at each ten foot spot. Whenever I hit the fifty foot mark, I began throwing a variety of pitches. For example, I ll throw fastball, changeup, and curveballs. When I gain control over these pitchers, I go to the bullpen. In the pen, I always begin and end with a fastball. I m ready to pitch in the game now. The most over looked aspect of pitching is running. When I throw in a game, my arm becomes sore almost instantly. To try and defend against this, I usually run immediately after and the days that follow my throwing. The day that I am pitching is usually a light run of maybe a mile or so, but the next two days are long distance runs of fifteen miles or more. A long run of constant arm moving helps my arm to break up the lactic acid that makes my arm sore. This is one of the quickest ways to get rid of soreness and be ready to pitch again ... At the onset of the Holocaust however, Eliezer Wiesel was a thirteen year old, small town boy of Sighet, Transylvania who by all accounts was deeply observant (Wiesel 3). The Holocaustwas a dark time in Jewish history in which Anti Semitics; mainly the German Nazis led by Hitler, tried to exterminate the Jews. As an author, Eliezer uses an array of rhetorical appeals. Rhetorical appeals consist of pathos, logos, and ethos. Pathos is appealing to the readers emotions and feeling, while logos is an argument based on facts, evidence and reasoning, and ethos appeals to the readers sense of ethical behavior as credible, trustworthy, and honest. Eliezer Wiesel would be an example of ethos because he is seen as credible throughout the novel. This is because he was actually and physically in the concentration camps and has witnessed the brutality that goes on there; therefore he would be a primary source making him credible and trustworthy. During the roughly four centuries in which this fighting force has existed, it has undergone numerous changes of varying degrees of significance. The conflict that eventually grew into King William s War would provide one of the first opportunities for fighters from different colonies to cooperate in a larger military conflict on behalf of the English Empire, and also to develop a sense of resentment toward the Crown for its perceived failure to defend the colonies adequately (Williams, pp. 23 24). The colonists had inherited their ancestors distrust of a standing army, primarily since they saw such an army as a tool for the repression of liberty (Flashnick, Week 1). After the failure of the English army to assist the colonial fighters to any meaningful degree during King William s War, this distrust was confirmed and amplified. Two long term effects of the conflict were that it reinforced the American preference for the citizen soldier and, by virtue of forcing cooperation between the colonies, it paved the way for what would eventually become a united continental army. Queen Anne s War was the second successive conflict during this period of transition for the colonial armed forces. The colonies once again were forced to cooperate militarily, this time to an even greater extent than had been the case during King William s War. Consequences And Implications For The Globalization Of Crime 1)Held, describes globalisation as the growing interconnectedness of states and societies and the progressive enmeshment of human communities with each other (Held,2000) over the last few centuries, human communities have come into increasing contact with each other; their collective fortunes have become intertwined (ibid) His definition is useful because it points to the long history of the globalising processes. Globalisation also has consequences that come along with its growth and interconnectedness, Held et al claimed that there had been a globalisation of crimedue to the increasing interconnectedness of crime across national borders. Globalisation aids in creating new opportunities for crime and new means of committing crime and new offences for example various cyber crimes. A principal driver that can be identified to explain globalisations acceleration in the last few decades is technology. Information and communication technology has allowed international trade and finance to become despatialised to a large extent (J. Pakes 2013) This has allowed outsourcing for instance, and the emergence of a truly global marketplace, increasing the value and proficiency of multinational companies. The two main factors that differentiate the Arab immigrants and the Western White race are the two factors of gender and religion. Gender relations is often associated with Arabs creating their identity compared to the whites, this is because gender is associated with gender roles and the hierarchy of power (Ajrouch, 2004, p. 372). Another type of comparison is the factor of religion; White Christians often follow the Bible, which talk about the ideal breadwinner man and caretaker women. But, studies have shown that between Christians and White women both were affected by religiosity and ethnicity that relate to traditional gender roles (Ajrouch, 2004, p. 374) In the western society, Arab women can choose to accept or... The agenda setting theory of mass media postulates that media gives the people what to think about, and influences how they think about it. One of the phenomenal issues that has been greatly affected by mediais the Susan G. Komen Foundation and Planned Parenthood controversy. The Susan G. While most people try to explain happiness with philosophy, I will be writing more about the medical and scientific aspect of happiness. There are two schools of thought on happiness, first one being social happiness and the second one being solitary happiness with me learning towards the former over the ladder. Medically, happiness comes down to a handful of chemicals (also called neurotransmitters) in the brainand if you are happy or not it comes down to the levels of these chemicals in the brain. Endocannabinoids or also known as the bliss chemical, contrary to popular belief adrenaline is not a cause of runner s high as it can not cross the blood brain barrier but endocannabinoids levels are elevated after a run suggesting that endocannabinoids are the cause of runner s high. This is in the same group of chemicals that cannabis THC is in. The Endocannabinoid system is not found in all animals, it is mainly found in mammals most notable humans and canines. Not very well known but this is main feel good neurotransmitter. The reward neurotransmitter called dopamine is the chemical that causes you to feel good after you reach a set goal you have made. • 39. Soldiers At The United States Army Soldiers Preparation in the U.S. Army Similarly, United States Army has extreme concern with the specific preparation of Soldiers. Therefore, it has developed a program called Physical Readiness Training (PRT). The program s goal is to train Soldiers to be ready to work in hard duties and sustain activity in assignments or in combat roles (FM 7 22, 2012). The PRT has a high concern with Soldiers health, presenting preparation, recovery, strength and mobility, posture and body mechanics activities. The PRT has three phases to develop in Soldiers the correct physical condition: the conditioning phase, the sustaining phase, and the reconditioning phase. First, the initial conditioning phase is responsible for the practice part in order to develop the movement skills the correct way and prepare Soldiers for the next phase. The second phase is the sustaining phase. This focus phase is to achieve in Soldiers a higher level of physical readiness required in specific tasks and maintain the level achieved. To help us understand, we try and patch those holes with what are called conspiracy theories. William Shakespeare s life is one big quilt filled with holes. People all over the world have come up with conspiracy theories to try and fill these gaps in his life. Some are made with educated guesses while others are just wild theories made by people who just happened to stumble upon William Shakespeare. The different theories people have fabricated has caused a major controversy over the authorship of William Shakespeare s famous plays. With the few surviving documents we have, we can see small glimpses into the life of William Shakspeare. He was born in April 1564, died in April 1616, and is buried in inside the chancel of Holy Trinity Church in Stratford. The rest of his life is a textbook full of blank pages and all we have to fill them are his plays. We can, however, make educated guesses about his life based on the few facts we know about him, and based on what we know about the time period he lived in and the town he resided in. • 41. The Health Belief Model Is Used For Health Promotion And... The Health Belief Model is commonly used for health promotion and health education. Its underlying concept is that health behavior is explained by perception of the disease and the strategies available to lower its occurrence. There are four perceptions of the HBM, which are perceived seriousness, perceived benefit, perceived susceptibility and perceived barriers. In addition to that, more constructs are added to health belief model that includes motivating factor, cues to action and self efficacy. Each of these constructs in combination or individually, could be used to determine health behavior. The HBM also provides guidelines for the program development allowing planners to address reasons for non compliance with recommended health action. The health belief model is a process used to promote healthy behavior among individuals who may be at risk of developing adverse health outcomes. A person must gauge their perceptions of severity and susceptibility of developing a disease. Then it is essential to feel vulnerable by these perceptions. Environmental factors can play a role as well as cues to action such as media, and close friends. In order to determine that taking action will be meaningful, the benefits to change must be weighed, against the barriers to change behavior (Green Murphy, 2014). Confidence is a trait I sometimes lacked throughout my lifetime. Confidence is hard to acquire living in such a competitive, evolving world. Everything in life is a competition. My grades, personality, and confidence all contribute to who I am. Personally, for me, it is hard to feel comfortable in every social setting. I tend to be shy and nervous when I am around new people; however, a time in my life I feel most comfortable is now! Everything mattered at Fairfield, especially physical appearance, which I found ridiculous. People were very judgmental and unwelcoming. The environment around me affected my self confidence significantly, in a negative way. Therefore, I felt trapped and alone. I almost felt like I was suffocating and there was no way to escape this horrifying nightmare. One specific example I had at Fairfield University contributed to my self esteem immensely. The friend group I made decided not to be friends with me anymore because my ex boyfriends new girlfriend did not like my presence when I was around. Basically, she made my life a living hell, and my so called best friends did not even look me in the face when I walked by. That is when I knew it was time for a major change in my life. After this experience I learned a lot about myself. For example, I was discouraged by this particular situation; however, this experience made me realize how strong and independent I am. It is essential that the curriculum within the Nation s schools, colleges, and universities are reflected to the ethnic, cultural, and racial diversity within the United States. Schools, colleges and universities are using various approaches to inspire ethnic content into the curriculum, including the contributions, additive, transformation, and social action approaches. To respond adequately to the ethnic realities with the nationand the world, the curriculum should be transformed and should help students to develop decision making and social action skills. According to the book... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Major goals of instruction in this approach are to educate students for social criticism and social change and to teach them decision making skills. For example, promoting human rights and peace at schools and working to ensure that the schools building and activities do not harm the environment. To empower students and help them obtain political efficacy, the school must help them become reflective social critics and skilled participants in social change (Banks 1989). The traditional goal of school has been to socialize students so they would accept unquestioningly the existing ideologies, institutions, and practices within society and the nation state. I believe that each approach stated by James Banks is important in its own way and do not over power one another. The four approaches to the integration of ethnic content into the curriculum I described above are often mixed and blended in actual teaching situations. An important goal that all of these approaches share are teaching about racial, cultural, and ethnic diversity which should be to empower students with knowledge, skills, and attitudes they need to participate in civil action that will help transform our world and enhance the possibility for human ... • 44. The Importance Of Elephant Communication Humans are better than animals at interpreting not only verbal but also nonverbal cues. Most animals can understand some nonverbal messages; for example, two cats that are not sure of each other arch their backs. A dog carrying a toy to another dog means he or she wants to play; sniffing another dog s derriere is simply introducing itself and learning about the dog from its scents. Licking a humans face means the dog is showing a sign of love and affection. Elephants, because they are very intellectual have many forms of nonverbal communication; such as, wrapping their trunks around each other, as a sign of excitement, rubbing their bodies against each other to show affection or a male raising his trunk to show dominance ( Elephant Communication1). Animals can interpret nonverbal cues in their own species. Humans can interpret their own cues but they can also interpret the cues of other animal species ; for example, humans know that when a cat arches its back, it is either scared or angry and when a dog lays its head on your leg, it wants attention and love. Humans nonverbal communication consists of facial expressions; such as a smile when happy or a frown when sad, body language; such as crossed arms which means I m in charge and not open to suggestions; vocal articulation and inflection, for example, raising a voice or a soft, consoling voice and finally, body gestures; like a raised hand which means to stop or stay. There have been countless great men who have built the stern of this great nation. Some of those men were the founding fathers. The founding fathers incorporated the Constitution so we would have a future of freedom and stability. When I was little, my father, who was in the U.S. Navy, told me about the time he escorted the U.S.S. Constitution, which was the first time the ship had sailed in 116 years. Therefore, the U.S.S. Constitution is a visual aid for the written Constitution that has guided our nation over the years. The Constitution forged by our founding fathers has a similarity to the U.S.S. Constitution with the purpose of leading and protecting America and its future. When the Constitution was written, the purpose of the document was to separate the powers of the government and grant citizens of the U.S. rights. The founding fathers wanted to ensure there would be a preservation of rights such as the freedom of religion or the right to bear arms. As previously stated in history by Thomas Jefferson: What country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance. Let them take arms. The Constitution has been a rudder to keep the United States freedom since 1787, and to continue that, Americans will need to follow the guidelines set forth by the Constitution. • 47. Personal Profit s Crucial Role in Defining a Human Being Personal Profit s Crucial Role in Defining a Human Being College. The word brings to mind the struggle of being accepted to a top tier university. The intense competition seen in high schools around the country to earn a seat in prestigious schools can consume student s lives to such a degree as to corrupt their sense of place. The competition drives students to commit uncharacteristic and almost unconceivable actions. Many cheat their way into college by manipulating affirmative action and as a result intentionally sabotage a peer s chances of succeeding. This pursuit highlights a false sense of entitlement among students and fosters a hostile feeling toward peers. A similar situation is seen throughout many works of literature such as Heart of Darkness, by Joseph Conrad, where a mariner named Marlow, who uncovers the mysteries and horrors of the African interior, seeks to meet an esteemed figure named Kurtz. When Marlow discovers Kurtz s true nature and actions, he realizes the extreme degree of corruptness the human race possesses. In Heart of Darkness, Joseph Conrad suggests that humans only seek personal profit, shown through character relationships between Marlow and the African natives, the manager, and Kurtz. Heart of Darkness depicts the corrupt nature of humanity by illustrating Africans who sold out their own race to Europeans and enslaved them solely for the personal gain of not becoming a slave themselves. We have the debate and Supreme Court ruling in 2002 that stated the ban on virtual child pornography was unconstitutional, and in turn, The Federal Child Pornography Prevention Act was overturned. The parties involved are the disgusting, scum of the earth who produce this ungodly entertainment for sick minded pedophiles, the US Supreme Court who have taken an oath to protect the innocent, and the putrid pedophiles who watch this abomination of god and all that is evil. (Emphasis intentionally and harshly added)The morals are, sex with children is immoral, an abomination to God s teachings, watching the same, even if only graphics is still a grave sin. If you think of doing sin, it is as bad as the sin itself. Therefore, watching a cartoon of a child being abused and having sexual gratification in that act, is as bad as one who actually commits the act.
