The Vikings First Training Camp
I woke up the morning of July 30th with a smile on my face. Little did I know, that smile was going to
be one of my last.
The weather was glorious. About 90 degrees, with nothing but sun shine! Not even a cloud in sight. I
jumped out of bed, and made my way to the bathroom down the hall. As I was finishing with brushing
my teeth, I spit in the sink, looked at myself in the mirror with a stern glance and said, You made it .
After all, I was only 2 short hours from making my way to the Minnesota Vikings first training camp
practice of the 2001 NFL season, located near the hotel I was staying in, in Mankato. Although, that
wasn t the only reason why I credited myself. I have been known to struggle with my weight in the
past, but I felt good ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I figured that the heat was getting to me. In my pads, the heat felt as if it was over 110 degrees, like I
was the only one in the desert, and had gone without water for days. In all reality it was only in the
low 90s. I felt so weak after practice. No one said a word after practice either, not even Moss or
Carter. A bit discouraged, I went back to the hotel room and took a nice cold shower and basked in the
cool air conditioning afterwards.
Later in the day, my wife pointed out to me that there was a picture of me in the newspaper, vomiting.
When I saw that picture for the first time my stomach turned. I thought I was going to throw up again.
It was incredibly humiliating and I knew I couldn t let the people who looked up to me the most see
me like that. Not my teammates, my peers, my wife, my son, nobody. It was pathetic. With that picture
out in the media, I was already focused on tomorrow s practice. I was determined to come back the
next day, playing harder than ever, and proving everyone wrong.
The dining area was quieter than normal the morning of July 31st. I think everyone saw the picture,
and pitied me, even felt embarrassed for me. Despite what my teammates thought, their pity only fed
the fire that fueled my motivation, and I was positive that everyone knew that. I arrived at practice
extra early to adapt to the heat. The same heat that beat me to my knees yesterday, and the same heat
that I was going to conquer

The Eight Photos By John Thomson s Illustrations Of China...

Feb. 16th, 2016 The eight photos I chose were arranged in a particular order. The first four were
selected from the Globetrotter s Japan while the other four photographs were chosen from John
Thomson s Illustrations of China and Its People: A Series of Two Hundred Photographs. Moreover, the
photos on the left side depicted the traditional Asian people and places, in contrast with those on the
right side, which seemed to be more modern due to some western elements presented in the pictures.
These eight photos well represented the themes that are recurring in the three albums: Asians in
traditional dress doing menial labor without the presence of technology, ... Show more content on

The two scenes were beautiful in a natural, traditional and exotic way, which was different from
Yokohama s beauty of modernity in picture 2 and 4. Yokohama was one of the seven treaty ports
opened by the Kanagawa Treaty in 1854 and Harris Treaty in 1858. Under the intimidation of America
s steam and coal warships, Japan had no choice but ended its close country policy and gave the U.S.,
later also Britain, the Netherlands, Russia, and France, the access to the seven treaty ports. After a
decade, when the globetrotter tourists visited Japan and pressed the camera shutter, we can see how
those treaty ports, especially Yokohama, were influenced by the West. Picture 2 depicted a main street
of Yokohama. On the left side of the street was a printing office while on the right side of the street,
there was a Cigar store. Cigar was clearly not a native product of Japan, but something introduced
from the West. Another noteworthy detail was that the shop signs of the two stores were both written
in English instead of Japanese. Picture 4 was a portrait of a railway station. Train was a symbol of
technology development and signified Japan was stepping outside of the Biological Old Regime and
start to use steam and fuel as the source of energy. In addition, in the middle of the picture stood a
lampstand. It indicated the use of electricity, and gave viewer a

The Accident That Caused The Crash
AAR11 04
This is a briefing of the original NTSB report of the accident that occurred on June 9, of 2009. The
reason of this report is to determine the causes which made the aircraft crash, kill two people, and left
another person very badly injured. This report is divided into three sections: Accident History, Causes
of the crash, and recommendations.
Accident History
On June 9, 2009, a Japanese woman made a 911 call from her cellphone. The 911 operators
transferred the call to the New Mexico State Police dispatcher. She told the dispatcher that she was
camping with her boyfriend when she was lost and could not get back; she was scared and feeling
cold. Although she has issues with the English language, she was able to communicate with ... Show

The weather condition was not perfect at that moment in the Mountains. He did notice strong winds
that could possibly make a dangerous flight. So he offered that to initiate the mission at night with
Night vision goggles, if the wind gets calmer.
At approximately the 6 pm, the accident pilot called dispatch and told her that he just checked the
winds and he probably could initiate the mission. The post accident interviews show the accident pilot
tried to contact another full time pilot, but the other pilot was unavailable. Therefore for this the
accident pilot accepted the mission himself, even after working a full 8 hours and three previous
flights.
The dispatcher mentioned that she contacted the accident pilot with the patrol officer mission initiator.
The patrol officer received authorization for the accident pilot to be a spotter and ok looking for the
hiker. After several minutes and flying in circles trying to locate of the hiker, the pilot received a call
from the dispatcher. She mentioned that the hiker called back and mentioned that she had seen the
helicopter pass just above her. With that information, the pilot went back to the area and finally locates
the hiker.
The location of the hiker was not perfect for a good landing, It is for this reason that they choice to
land away from the hiker. As soon the pilot reaches the ground, he quickly looked for the hiker. When
the accident pilot located the hiker he promptly returned to the helicopter, and made

Abstract
Having fixed term Parliaments in the United Kingdom is something that has been debated across the
political spectrum for some years and, with the enactment of the Fixed Term Parliaments Act 2011, is
no longer something which is merely debated, but a political and constitutional reality. The Act came
into force with little consultation, research, or advice to or by the Government; it was exceptionally
hurried legislation. This means that there is little written on the wider constitutional effects of the Act,
and it is exactly that which this essay will try to examine.
To analyse the Act s significance I have looked at the position prior to the Act and what the Act
changed, before moving on to examining and critically ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can be done with a vote of a two thirds majority in the House of Commons to call such an
election.8 A general election can also be called early if a vote of no confidence is passed on the
Government, with a simple majority in the House of Commons. Fourteen days after such a
declaration, if there has not been a vote of confidence in the Government, then an early general
election will take place.9

Arguments in favour of fixed term Parliaments being significant:
The first argument that these changes are constitutionally significant is simple; it is the codification of
a royal prerogative, pragmatically wielded solely by the Prime Minister, into a power for the
legislature as a whole. It is a rebalancing of power within the British Constitution. When talking about
this power Leyland said the Royal Prerogative to dissolve Parliament on the advice of the Prime
Minister was regarded as a core feature of the constitution ,10 from this then, we can surmise that the
loss of this power is constitutionally significant.
It also represents something

The Underground Railroad And Its Impact On American Culture
The Underground Railroad was an innovated organization whose main goal was to free slaves. This
amazing system was founded in the 18th century, by a man names Levi Coffin. It used as an escape
for any slaves in the South. . The courageous people within the organization help to shape a new
America. The course of this organization ultimately changed the course of American history. This
legendary organization was known for many things, but in retrospect it help spark the civil war. To
have a full understanding of it s massive affects of American culture, one must start at its beginnings.
Understanding the stories and it people that helped millions to gain America most prized passion,
freedom. The Underground Railroad was a secret organization filled with various members from all
walks of life. Contrary to its name The Underground Railroad was neither a railroad, nor underground;
its name was simply a tip towards its terms and language used within the organization and it s
members. The underground network s mission was to aid fugitive slaves along the way to freedom in
the northern states. Established in the 1780 s it is estimated nearly 100,000 slaves were freed from
bondage in the South. Though the assistance to slaves by the abolitionist was courageous, it came at a
cost. An action such as assisting a fugitive slave was a direct violation of state laws. Punishment for
such a crime sometimes included whipping, prison, and hanging. Though sometimes these white men

Computers And The Field Of Computer Engineering
Electrical engineering is a wide field of study and the field of computer engineering is very intriguing.
Computer hardware is the field that is advancing at an exponential pace in the last 100 years which is
a very small piece of human history. Which is why this field is so interesting and finding
advancements in computer and computing is not hard to come by. There s always something new that
s created like a new software or processor. But there s been some recent advancements in what could
shape and be the cornerstone of a new step in making history and a new age of computing. That great
leap towards the future is quantum computing and in the last two years theirs been a lot of new and
exciting developments that will be discussed. The man who first came up with the idea was Feynman
a physicist who encountered a problem with classic computers. That they just couldn t handle the
amount of variable or simulate quantum physics he came up with the first concepts of a quantum
computer. Quantum computing has a made a recent leap forward that can be attributed to a few
factors. The factors are that in last few year s major companies like google, Intel and IBM have started
to or have increased their resources and manpower on making quantum computing a reality. In 2014
John Martinis and his colleagues at the University of California, Santa Barbara were working to make
qubit gates more reliable and controllable. During their research and experimentation, they got a

Theme Of Hyperreality In The Crying Of Lot 49
Introduction
Thomas Ruggles Pynchon, Jr. (b. 1937) who was awarded the US National Book Award for Fiction in
1974 for his most renowned novel Gravity Rainbow (1973) is mostly famous for such complicated
novels as V (1963), The Crying of Lot 49 (1966) and Mason Dixon (1977). While writing The Crying
of Lot 49, he was deeply distressed by the irreversible losses of World War II, the probability of
nuclear explosions, and role of the mass media; consequently he repeatedly presents the motifs of loss,
chaos, and entropy in his novel.
Pynchon is the author of seven novels, V (1963), The Crying of A lot 49 (1966), Gravity Rainbow
(1973), Vineland (1990), Mason and Dixon (1997), Against the Day (2006), andInherent Vic (2009).
Among them, the two novels correlating with the notion of reality and media ... Show more content on

Are the speculative nature, parodic playfulness and bookishness of the novels mere form diversions,
which leads us away from reality? To what extend can we distinguish hyperreality from reality, and
the referent, the subject, and its objects? Can media and advertisement shape the character of heroin,
and what consequences do it exposure in character worldview? Are there any structures or are they
only deceptive galaxies of signifier?
Here are some key terms regarding Baudrillad in Richard Smith s The Baudrillard Dictionary:
Simulation:With the advent of realistic media (photography, film, sound recording, TV, digital media)
it has also come to refer to an audio visual experience that artfully mimics but otherwise has no
connection with the reality it presents. It is the notion of a kind of copy which is not merely
indistinguishable from what it copies, but in which the very distinction between copy and original
disappears. Simulation threatens the difference between the true and the false, the real and the
imaginary. Simulating is not pretending. It is replacing the reality

His family is very rich and live in a large house, and Artemis lives with his mom, (who has been
acting very strange since Artemis dad died.) and his two servants, Butler and Juliet. At the beginning
of the book, Artemis is mainly focused on getting even richer than he already was. After he kidnapped
a fairy though, he realized that he had something he wanted more than riches. He wanted his mom to
go back to her normal self, not grieving over the loss of her husband. Artemis Fowl was very cruel in
the book, wanted nothing other than fame and money, and he would do anything to get those. He

Canada Charter Of Rights Essay
Growing up in a world where you only know life sheltered by the Canadian Charter of Rights and
Freedoms it s easy not to appreciate the security it provides. It can also be a foregone conclusion that
this generation of Canadians couldn t imagine life without the privileges of the charter. Still, there is
an argument that Canadians were better off before the charter was included in the Constitution of
Canada.
The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms was not the first enactment that afforded Canadians
with principles. Constitutional rights in Canada date all the way back to 1791 and the Constitutional
Act, 1791. After confederation the first separation of federal and provincial powers was enacted with
the British North American Act in 1867, this was later renamed the Constitution Act, 1867. The
Canadian Bill of Rights was the predecessor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The notable components in the bill were the freedoms of speech and religion, rights to life, liberty and
security, property rights, right to counsel and some equality rights. These components were expanded
upon in the charter with notable inclusions of freedoms of expression and peaceful assembly,
democratic rights, the right from unreasonable search and designation of the official languages. The
other step the charter took was where the bill was strictly a federal law, the charter is part of the
constitution and provides for provincial jurisdiction. The charter also allows for courts to strike down
laws which the bill did not.
When we evaluate the charter we can see its effects with how it impacts our society. Some examples
are, barriers removed from abortions, equality for same sex partners, medical assisted end of life,
equality for those disabled, reduced sexual discrimination and

Difference Between Multiprogramming And Multiprocessing
1. Problem 1 (20 points): Why is the execution environment of a Java class called a virtual machine?
How does this virtual machine compare to a real machine running code written in C? Answer: Java
files are executed on Java Virtual Machine which is not a real machine. This is a software application
which acts like a real machine and make a complete environment like heap, memory, stack, CPU etc
virtually. Basically it is layer of software between the OS and the application program. That s why it is
called a Virtual Machine. Virtual Machine will see the resources which administrator sets in settings
e.g. if we set 1 GB for virtual machine, code will use only this memory even if real machine have
more free memory. When code runs in virtual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
5. Problem 5. (20 points) What is the difference between multiprogramming and multiprocessing?
Multiprogramming and multithreading? Answer: Difference between multiprogramming and
multiprocessing: Multiprogramming is the ability of an operating system to run multiple processes on
a single processor machine. E.g. we are running MS Word, notepad and media player on a single CPU
machine and all the running simultaneously. Multiprocessing is the ability of operating system to run
multiple processes on multiple processors (CPUs). Processes are divided and assigned to different
CPUs to perform the task. So basic difference is that if OS run multiple processes on single processor,
this is multiprogramming and if multiple processes are running on multiple CPUs is called
multiprocessing. Difference between multiprogramming and multithreading: Multiprogramming is the
ability of an operating system to run multiple processes on a single processor machine. E.g. we are
running MS Word, notepad and media player on a single CPU machine and all the running
simultaneously. Multithreading is the ability of operating system to run divide and run different parts
of a process on a single CPU to obtain the same but fast result. Different parts of the code which run
simultaneously are called

Lady Bracknell The Importance Of Being Earnest
In Oscar Wilde s whimsical play The Importance of Being Earnest, society, and class are strong motifs
as the play progresses. Most prominently, Lady Bracknell s character is implemented to exaggerate the
higher class, depict the ideals of society and effectively expose the other character s status. For
instance, Lady Bracknell staunchly believes that one should never waste time sympathizing with
invalids like Mr. Bunbury, for he should ...[make] up his mind whether he was going to live or [] die,
(1.718); this is exceptionally critical for the seating to be apt at her dinner party. Moreover, while Lady

Well, hark, persons of the new century; allow me to privy you with the truth! As the sergeant

Mark my good points, please, for I speak the truth. From the beginning, the Thane of Cawdor desired
my presence and labelled thee as a noble man. I was respected and regarded most highly! The king,
for instance, following the treason committed by the Thane, expressed that What he hath lost noble
Macbeth hath won . Is this not evidence enough that, within this chaos, my soul was still pure at its
very basis? (pause) However, throughout such tribulations, I began to become uneasy. Murdering
Duncan was so intolerable that thy own emotional responsiveness had ceased completely. Ambition,
thereafter, dominated my identity. Let me remind you again, that such occurrences were not fuelled
from the faults of thine own! Ambition is a common trait, and such a trait was influenced and
interrogated by unearthly forces such as mine own wife and the devilish witches. Alas, I pray that thou
art somewhat remorseful towards hearty Macbeth. Wherefore would I deliberately commit such
treason? Please, I ask that you remember what thou hast said, and spread such tidings to the wider
community of the new century. Grammercy, good people of the richest of educations, and adieu to you

Speech On Birds In Peril
Birds in Peril
Eleven species of animals have gone extinct over the past two centuries. To many people, this
statement would not shock them. They will just see it as a statistic. Many others though; would want
to do something to stop this from happening. Problems include natural disasters, homes being taken
away or destroyed, hunted for their feathers or the fur that they provide; There are many factors as to
why these animals disappear but people are the number one cause as to why animals decline so rapidly
in numbers.
Many people know there are people who don t give a rip about animals, and there are some that are in
between, and others that absolutely love animals. The problem here are the people that do not like
animals at all. Trees are cut down, pollution thrown wherever, and not even once do they think about
the animals that occupy these essentials. They do not think about the river that the animals need to
drink out of. They do not think of the birds that live in the trees, or other animals that look to them as a
food source.
The thing is, these animals know when their habitat is not suitable to live in. These birds called raptors
which means carry away in Latin; know when their habitat isn t suitable, which then gives a sign to
other animals to find another place. These birds of prey are in constant threat of being killed, whether
it be by pollution, their homes being taken away or they are shot down in fear of them killing the farm
animals farm owners provide.

Militarism, Nationalism, And The Start Of The Alliance System
Militarism, nationalism, and the start of the alliance system between the great powers of the world in
the beginning of the 20th century caused an enormous conflict that shortly after turned to the First
World War. In late June 1914, Gavrilo Princip a Serbian nationalist assassinated Archduke Franz
Ferdinand of Austria which shortly after caused the beginning of the greatest and bloodiest war in
history. The war was fought on different theaters by the world s greatest empires at that time. The
allies composed of the British and the French empires joined forces with mighty Russia against the
Central powers composed of Germany, Austria Hungary and the Ottoman Empire. In 1917, three years
after the war broke out, the Allies were joined by the United States which forced a quick defeat of the
Central Powers. The introduction of new weapon technology and trench warfare caused an
unimaginable amounts of destruction and deaths all over the content of Europe where most of the
fighting took place. By the time the Great War had ended in 1918, more than 9 million soldiers had
been killed and 21 million more injured. Many historians of the 20th Century blame the generals of
the Great War for the massive death toll, they lacked the ability to adapt to the new warfare tactics and
the horrifying modern weaponry. The Germans and their allies began fighting in World War I on two
fronts, invading Belgium in the west in order to attack France and defending all of the Russian attacks

Beach Descriptive Essay
After lazily waking up, my family and I head to the beach to enjoy the brisk day. It s only around
seventy five degrees, but that doesn t falter our excitement for the beach. The sun shines through the
clouds as we head down to pick a spot. The waves are calm and inviting as we lay our stuff down. The
wind is moving through the beachgrass like a quiet whisper. The seagulls caw, and attempt to steal the
snacks we brought. There s some kids playing in the water, but more are playing in the sand since the
water s so cold. Days like this are quite typical at the beach in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
In Hilton Head, near Coligny Beach, the small village where we stay is quite somnolent. It seems like
no one is ever awake before 9am. In the center of the sleepy town there s a Piggly Wiggly. Everyone
goes in there to get their groceries and beach supplies. Next to it there s an ice cream shop, the Frozen
Moo, which has some of the best ice cream I ve ever had. The shop has at least ninety different flavors
from Apple Pie to Rainbow Sherbet. There s a mural on the wall of cows surfing at the beach with
brightly colored chairs and tables; going along with the cow theme, there s even a life size replica of a
cow that they dress up for holidays. When walking into the town center, the beach is right across from
it. The smell of the ocean air and breeze coming through the town almost hypothesizes you to move
towards the waves. Since it s fairly cold in the morning, no one is ever there.

Unconstitutional Book Banning
Imagine you re in graduate school and you re doing your doctorate on a controversial issue. You ve
done most of the research however there s one book that has specific information that you need, and
you can only find it in that particular book. You ve looked on the online database and find out that the

The freedom to read and write freely is fundamentally American. It allows citizens to express
themselves without fearing repercussions from the government, or fellow citizens. It allows readers to
read freely and make their own decisions. Book banning would create a narrow minded population,
who don t know how to reason for themselves.
Thinking again of the argument of preserving family values, it must be taken into consideration the
kind of television that is currently airing. In many ways TV is more graphic, and explicit. Yet it is
tolerated, whereas even just crude language is apparently cause enough to ban a book.
Parents are also worried about when their children who are reading above grade level are assigned
books intended for students three to four grades above them. This can expose younger readers to
seemingly inappropriate material. However there are other options, parents can talk to teachers and
ask for more age appropriate books for their younger readers.
Banning books violates the rites that our founding fathers fought so hard for in the Revolutionary War.

Standard And Oil Argumentative Essay
One instance, from real life, of the US government acting to promote competition and break up
monopolies occurred in 1911 when the United States Supreme Court ruled that Standard and Oil was
an illegal monopoly. Standard and Oil Co Inc. was an American oil company established in 1870 by
John D. Rockefeller as a corporation in Ohio which by early 1880 controlled some 90 percent of US
refineries and oil pipelines and dominated the oil products market through horizontal integration and
later through vertical integration. Standard and Oil gained a monopoly in the oil industry by buying
rival refineries and forming several companies for distributing and marketing its products around the
globe. In 1882, these various companies were combined into the Standard Oil Trust and It became the
largest oil refinery monopoly in the world. Rockefeller became the richest man in the world which
consequently made him a target of critics and politicians. These powerful politicians accused him of
under cutting and destroying his competitors by engaging in unethical practices, such as price fixing
and colluding with railroads to eliminate his competition and to ultimately gain a monopoly in the
industry. Other accusations by critics and politicians included: getting rich on rebates from railroads,
bribing men to spy on competing companies, of making secret agreements, of coercing rivals to join

The Geological History Of The Area
Part A: Science Understanding
1. Research: Find out about the geological history of the area.
(a) What are the main geological features of this area? (Record reliable sources on page 14 in

The Undara lava tubes were formed due to the flow of lava that left behind cooled rock. Remnant dry
forests surround the lava tubes. The most prominent feature of Undara is the Undara lava tubes. These
lava tubes are some of the longest seen in the world, with some tubes reaching 100km long. In all,
there have been over 50 caves recorded in the area. The vast histories of the Undara lava tubes help

Include geological ages where possible. (Once again remember to record reliable sources on page 14

The Undara lava tubes were formed 190,000 years ago in the Cainozoic period due to large volcanic
activity. In this time, Mount Undara had a volcanic eruption that spewed molten lava onto the
surrounding landscape. The lava reached 90km North and 160km north west of the volcano. An
estimated 23.3 km3 of lava flowed from the volcano at a rate of about 1000 m3 every second.
(Nprsr.qld.gov.au, 2015) The lava that exited the volcano reached extreme temperatures of 1200°C,
therefore destroying anything that got in it s way. The lava tubes were then formed as the top outer
layer cooled and formed a crust while the molten lava below drained outwards leaving behind a series
of hollow tubes. (Austhrutime.com, 2015) Caves however, have formed due to weaker lava tubes
collapsing and creating depressions. The craters seen in Undara have formed from chunks of molten
rock imploding the surface of the Earth due to explosions from the Mt Undara volcano. Some of the
animals that were on the earth at this time included the sabre tooth tiger, cave bears, woolly
mammoths and woolly rhinoceros. At this time, plants had a time to flourish since the extinction of the
dinosaurs. Nearly every plant living today had its roots in the Cainozoic Era. (LiveScience.com, 2015)
The same type of plants that are present around the lava tubes today would

A leader should be able to inspire those around them. If someone is inspired and motivated to do

to improve. I will help inspire the players in my section so we can become the best we can be.
Communication is also a key skill to being a leader. If the leader and the people around them aren t
able to communicate then nothing will get done. I have learned in the past that not communicating can
lead to the downfall to a piece or group. If a member of the section isn t aware that they are playing
something wrong it will never be fixed. As a leader I will be able to help others improve and
communicate with them what they can do in the future to prevent the same mistake from happening.
I am able to learn music fast and will use that advantage to help others with their parts. To be able to
help them, I will make sure I understand how all of the parts fit together and tell them how they can
improve on the sections they are struggling with. Inspiration is very important in a section and I will

The Fight For Contraceptives By Margaret Sanger
Margaret Sanger, a New York and an active feminist, led the fight for contraceptives, which are
methods or devices to prevent pregnancy. Sanger, whose mother at a young age because she had
birthed eleven children, helped shape her into a very individualistic and assertive woman. She was a
part of the Socialist party, while studying to be a nurse, and starting a family of her own. In 1912, she
began to work in the slums with the poor immigrant women who lived there. Her experience in the
slums with these women, helped shaped her strong opinion on why women should be in control of
childbearing. This was not the only thing that shaped it, but helped further her outlook after she was a
witness to her own mother s death. Her final call to action though was the ghastly stories of self
induced abortions and the tales of more than horrific pregnancies.
Sanger s movement to push for birth control caused her to be closely watched by the law enforcement.
She repeatedly sent informative brochures about contraceptives out to the public and opened a birth
control clinic in Brooklyn; it impudently went against Comstock Act and several other laws. In 1920
Sangers methods became less extensive and that same year she founded the American Birth Control
League, now known as Planned Parenthood. This was one of the biggest milestones in her career as a
feminist. In 1925 she gave her memorable speech The Children s Era at the first birth control
conference. When she delivered the speech she

This battle was important for a few reasons. It consisted of a carrier versus carrier battle which was the
first in history as neither Japan nor the United States detected each other at sea. (Tulley.,2005).
Considering neither side actually won this battle, it was considered a turning point in the Pacific. For
the first time, the Allies had stopped the Japanese advance. Then again, the Japanese had some
victories while they still experienced a series of losses. These defeats included Midway one month
later, which was a major United States victory. Moreover, a few months after the Japanese attack on
the United States at Pearl Harbor and almost a month before the battle at Midway, the Battle of the
Coral Sea was one of the first aircraft carrier related conflicts that was conducted in the Pacific during

I was too tired and weak to bother protesting anymore. Long had it been since the fight had left me.

On this specific case the dichotomy will involved the request made by the seven members of the city

legitimacy and an ethical obligation to protect the interests of the underrepresentated. It is also
expected to administer city affairs according to the law, and bureaucratic standards of efficiency as

majority of the city s population, I would personally try to create a plan to address the deficit by
proposing a plan to evaluate, eliminate or preserve city programs. I would present this plan in the next

Penny. Sheldon refuses and squirts Leonard in the face with a squirt bottle, a form of negative
reinforcement (Aronsohn, Rosenstock, Cendrowski, 2009). Sheldon s conditioning of Penny seemed
so absurd to me back then How could we, as complex humans, be susceptible to such mild
conditioning? We are after all far more intelligent than other organisms, right? We may think we are
above operant conditioning, but as B. F. Skinner believed, we can be trained to replicate desirable
behaviors through positive reinforcement (Myers, 2013). According to Myers (2013) organisms are

Summary Of The Taxpayer In Ray Bradbury s The Martian...
March 2000: The Taxpayer in Ray Bradbury s The Martian Chronicles, is an interchapter that focuses
on how Pritchard (a typical taxpayer) wants to get on the spaceship to Mars. The purpose of this short

(Bradbury 31). He feels that he is entitled to board the spaceship because he paid his taxes. The phrase
I m a taxpayer is often used to protest against

  • 2. The Vikings First Training Camp I woke up the morning of July 30th with a smile on my face. Little did I know, that smile was going to be one of my last. The weather was glorious. About 90 degrees, with nothing but sun shine! Not even a cloud in sight. I jumped out of bed, and made my way to the bathroom down the hall. As I was finishing with brushing my teeth, I spit in the sink, looked at myself in the mirror with a stern glance and said, You made it . After all, I was only 2 short hours from making my way to the Minnesota Vikings first training camp practice of the 2001 NFL season, located near the hotel I was staying in, in Mankato. Although, that wasn t the only reason why I credited myself. I have been known to struggle with my weight in the past, but I felt good ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I figured that the heat was getting to me. In my pads, the heat felt as if it was over 110 degrees, like I was the only one in the desert, and had gone without water for days. In all reality it was only in the low 90s. I felt so weak after practice. No one said a word after practice either, not even Moss or Carter. A bit discouraged, I went back to the hotel room and took a nice cold shower and basked in the cool air conditioning afterwards. Later in the day, my wife pointed out to me that there was a picture of me in the newspaper, vomiting. When I saw that picture for the first time my stomach turned. I thought I was going to throw up again. It was incredibly humiliating and I knew I couldn t let the people who looked up to me the most see me like that. Not my teammates, my peers, my wife, my son, nobody. It was pathetic. With that picture out in the media, I was already focused on tomorrow s practice. I was determined to come back the next day, playing harder than ever, and proving everyone wrong. The dining area was quieter than normal the morning of July 31st. I think everyone saw the picture, and pitied me, even felt embarrassed for me. Despite what my teammates thought, their pity only fed the fire that fueled my motivation, and I was positive that everyone knew that. I arrived at practice extra early to adapt to the heat. The same heat that beat me to my knees yesterday, and the same heat that I was going to conquer ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Eight Photos By John Thomson s Illustrations Of China... Jiangnan Yao Prof. Franziska Seraphim TA: Lia Atanat HIST1006 Feb. 16th, 2016 The eight photos I chose were arranged in a particular order. The first four were selected from the Globetrotter s Japan while the other four photographs were chosen from John Thomson s Illustrations of China and Its People: A Series of Two Hundred Photographs. Moreover, the photos on the left side depicted the traditional Asian people and places, in contrast with those on the right side, which seemed to be more modern due to some western elements presented in the pictures. These eight photos well represented the themes that are recurring in the three albums: Asians in traditional dress doing menial labor without the presence of technology, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The two scenes were beautiful in a natural, traditional and exotic way, which was different from Yokohama s beauty of modernity in picture 2 and 4. Yokohama was one of the seven treaty ports opened by the Kanagawa Treaty in 1854 and Harris Treaty in 1858. Under the intimidation of America s steam and coal warships, Japan had no choice but ended its close country policy and gave the U.S., later also Britain, the Netherlands, Russia, and France, the access to the seven treaty ports. After a decade, when the globetrotter tourists visited Japan and pressed the camera shutter, we can see how those treaty ports, especially Yokohama, were influenced by the West. Picture 2 depicted a main street of Yokohama. On the left side of the street was a printing office while on the right side of the street, there was a Cigar store. Cigar was clearly not a native product of Japan, but something introduced from the West. Another noteworthy detail was that the shop signs of the two stores were both written in English instead of Japanese. Picture 4 was a portrait of a railway station. Train was a symbol of technology development and signified Japan was stepping outside of the Biological Old Regime and start to use steam and fuel as the source of energy. In addition, in the middle of the picture stood a lampstand. It indicated the use of electricity, and gave viewer a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The reason of this report is to determine the causes which made the aircraft crash, kill two people, and left another person very badly injured. Fotse Abstract Having fixed term Parliaments in the United Kingdom is something that has been debated across the political spectrum for some years and, with the enactment of the Fixed Term Parliaments Act 2011, is no longer something which is merely debated, but a political and constitutional reality. The Act came into force with little consultation, research, or advice to or by the Government; it was exceptionally hurried legislation. This means that there is little written on the wider constitutional effects of the Act, and it is exactly that which this essay will try to examine. An estimated 23.3 km3 of lava flowed from the volcano at a rate of about 1000 m3 every second. (Nprsr.qld.gov.au, 2015) The lava that exited the volcano reached extreme temperatures of 1200°C, therefore destroying anything that got in it s way. The lava tubes were then formed as the top outer layer cooled and formed a crust while the molten lava below drained outwards leaving behind a series of hollow tubes. (Austhrutime.com, 2015) Caves however, have formed due to weaker lava tubes collapsing and creating depressions. The craters seen in Undara have formed from chunks of molten rock imploding the surface of the Earth due to explosions from the Mt Undara volcano. Some of the animals that were on the earth at this time included the sabre tooth tiger, cave bears, woolly mammoths and woolly rhinoceros. At this time, plants had a time to flourish since the extinction of the dinosaurs. Nearly every plant living today had its roots in the Cainozoic Era. (LiveScience.com, 2015) The same type of plants that are present around the lava tubes today would ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. The Fight For Contraceptives By Margaret Sanger Margaret Sanger, a New York and an active feminist, led the fight for contraceptives, which are methods or devices to prevent pregnancy. Sanger, whose mother at a young age because she had birthed eleven children, helped shape her into a very individualistic and assertive woman. She was a part of the Socialist party, while studying to be a nurse, and starting a family of her own. In 1912, she began to work in the slums with the poor immigrant women who lived there. Her experience in the slums with these women, helped shaped her strong opinion on why women should be in control of childbearing. This was not the only thing that shaped it, but helped further her outlook after she was a witness to her own mother s death. Her final call to action though was the ghastly stories of self induced abortions and the tales of more than horrific pregnancies. Sanger s movement to push for birth control caused her to be closely watched by the law enforcement. She repeatedly sent informative brochures about contraceptives out to the public and opened a birth control clinic in Brooklyn; it impudently went against Comstock Act and several other laws. In 1920 Sangers methods became less extensive and that same year she founded the American Birth Control League, now known as Planned Parenthood. This was one of the biggest milestones in her career as a feminist. In 1925 she gave her memorable speech The Children s Era at the first birth control conference. From High School to College Background: My Case Study : It had been awhile since I had watched it, but a few years ago I watched an episode of the Big Bang Theory titled The Gothowitz Deviation that I thought was absolutely hilarious (as are all of them). In this particular episode, Sheldon begins feeding Penny chocolates whenever she behaves well. He is positively reinforcing her good behavior, and goes on to say that he is applying mild operant conditioning. Leonard is furious at this, and tells Sheldon he is forbidden from continuing to do this to Penny. Sheldon refuses and squirts Leonard in the face with a squirt bottle, a form of negative reinforcement (Aronsohn, Rosenstock, Cendrowski, 2009). Sheldon s conditioning of Penny seemed so absurd to me back then How could we, as complex humans, be susceptible to such mild conditioning? We are after all far more intelligent than other organisms, right? We may think we are above operant conditioning, but as B. F. Skinner believed, we can be trained to replicate desirable behaviors through positive reinforcement (Myers, 2013). According to Myers (2013) organisms are also most likely to be successfully reinforced by an act that they naturally perform, with the experimenter determining whether it is a beneficial behavior or a detrimental behavior. So it would seem that natural behaviors, when positively reinforced, create a lasting stimulus as long as repetition continues.
