Brown Shirt Essay
Brown Shirts The most dynamic segment of the Nazi movements before it came to power was
Sturmabteilung (SA) or Brown Shirts which protected Hitler s political meetings from the attacks by
rivals (Campbell 659). SA functioned as a paramilitary wing of the Nazi party during the raise of
Hitler in 1920s and 1930s. Their name Brown Shirts came after the uniform that they used which was
inspired by the Mussolini s Black Shirts, and their main duty was to eliminate all the enemies and
coordinated allies once the Nazis were in the control of the German state, 1933. SA was consisted by
Freikorps, post World War One nationalist and people who opposed the Versailles treaty while the
Nazi Party or NSDAP was created from German people which ... Show more content on

In 1931, the captain of SA was changed and the new leader was Ernst Rőhm, who created a system
structure in the SA by putting Hitler as the supreme leader of SA and then by putting himself as the
chief of staff. Since SA grew while Rőhm was in charge, Rőhm started to believe that a revolution will
happen and he would be on top of it (Hancock 2). Furthermore, he suggested SA and army to be
combined for his new force, and this suggestion horrified senior officers. Senior officers of
Reichswehr became horrified because traditionally they have seemed SA as street thugs without
discipline and class who did bad things to humanity. Among these beliefs, Hitler also was concerned
with the chief of SA who was becoming a threat for the Nazi party. All in all, Rőhm was not satisfied
with Hitlers choices and he sends Hitler a letter writing that he is betraying everyone and that his
commanders are not the ones who will lead to a revolution as SA would ( The Sturmabteilung or SA
5) . The fate of Rőhm changed after this letter was written since Hitler made a deal with Reichswehr
and decided to get rid of officers of SA. This resulted to the Night of the Long Knives which took
place in June 1934. The Night of Long Knives is known as the purge where SS or the first paramilitary
army of Nazi Party arrests and kills the officers and the chief of SA which has been a threat for Hitler.

Internal Stress In Law Enforcement
There are many stress categories that law enforcement will face when it comes to performing their
occupational duties. The first stress category is internal or individual stress. Stress can happen at any
time especially on the internal side as there is always a chance of an officer worrying about the
competency to handle an assignment. If the assignment they are working on is causing individual
stress the feelings of helplessness and vulnerability starts to happen when they feel the pressure of
trying to finish an assignment. Officers start to feel the internal stress that everyone is counting on
them to get the assignment they are working on in perfect working order. Since crime never sleeps the
assignments that make officers internally stress over each assignment critical which can lead to more
time being spent on duty rather than off duty. The dearth of time for personal development can
translate into divorce, suicide, alcoholism, or burnout . The stress of the job and having a family takes
its toll but those who can cope with the internal stress of their job and family are the one that can have
both at the same time. Although there are some factors of internal stress that can lead officers to
eventually end their career with no family, no friends other than a few cops and no outside interests
Officers that have internal stress can have feelings that their trapped in their profession because the
internal stress of being a law enforcement officers is just to

Stanley s Last Letter
Hello professor I hope you are in good spirits as you read this letter. The email you sent me regarding
my interruptions in class, lateness in class, and my interruptions in your class have been a wake up
call for me. I know I wrote an email apologizing but I felt that writing a letter would be the best way
to express my sincerest apologies. You made me realize that I haven t been putting as much of an
effort as I should in your class. I cannot afford to fail your class as that would cancel my scholarships

you give to us. I wanted you to know that I have learned from my mistakes and will not repeat it as
Winston Churchill stated Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it. When the

though extra credit assignments and paying attention in your class I will continue to strive to get an A.
I want to thank you for taking out the time to read this letter and will be turning in my first extra credit

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Textual Passwords
The system and information security is most important factor for security program and the major
security method for information and system security is authentication[1]. The authentication is widely
used for verifying the identity of a particular person. The most popular authentication method is
password authentication. In this, textual(alphanumeric) passwords are mostly used as traditional
method. These types of textual passwords are strings of letters and digits. But there are several
deficiencies in these textual passwords such as passwords used are short and simple which are easy to
remember[2].So textual passwords can be personal names of family members, dictionary words, birth
date, pet name, phone number etc.and vulnerable to various attacks like dictionary attack, easy to
guess etc.[3][4]
Mostly users require the passwords for personal computers, social networks, email and more, and for
all these systems. For easy remembrance the users use the same password which reduces security[5].
Hence if textual passwords are kept difficult then they are difficult to remember and if it is easily kept
then they are easy to guess. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Analysis Of The Hunger Games
Let me start off by saying, DEREK AND MEREDITH WERE DESTINED TO BE TOGETHER AND
LIVE A HAPPY LIFE . If you ask the spectators of the show what they think about Shonda Rhimes
and her decisions in regards to her show, their first response might be that Shonda Rhimes might just
be the most heartless and evil woman on this earth. Grey s Anatomy involves real life situations in
which people (in this case the actors) have to learn to trust one another and ask them for help and
support. The unity that is shown most of the time on the show is heartwarming. From season to season
the viewers are taken into an emotional rollercoaster in which we never see what s coming next. Every
episode for the most part may be argued to follow the same sequence in which it starts normal and
then BOOM something happens and everyone or at least the ones involve put on their gear and work
together to solve it and it s those moments that grab the audience s full attention. The bonds created
between the characters make it seem for everyone to have that happiness, loyalty, love and more in
their lives. The meaning of friendship, love and family are constantly being questioned but until now
they have been able to overcome any obstacle put on their way.
The first three movies of the Hunger Games sequel are very captivating to the viewers. The suspense
of what will happen to Peeta and Katniss throughout the sequel makes the audience want to 1) read the
book and find out what happens since we all know

Theory of Successful Aging
Theory Of Successful Aging
INTERNAL CRITICISM
Adequacy: The Flood s Theory of Successful Aging (Flood, 2005) was developed to addresses a
nursing theory for care of the older adult regarding to the lack of nursing theory that offers clearly
delineated guidelines for care of aging. Flood s(2002) unique definition of successful aging among
other explanations includes mental, physical, and spiritual elements of the aging person and
emphasizing the individual s self appraisal. She used existing knowledge derived deductively from the
Roy adaptation model, one of the most widely accepted nursing theory model, and integrated these
ideas with Tornstam s sociological theory of gerotranscendence and literature related to the concept of
successful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These concepts can be understood without lengthy descriptions and explanations. In this study, the
author employed a variation of deductive reformulation, a process involving the derivation of existing
knowledge from a non nursing theory integrated with knowledge obtained deductively from a nursing
conceptual model which would allow for a more logical presentation of how the components relate to
each other. Moreover, the model is exhibited in this paper is an elucidate of the theory s components
structure and would present the interrelationship of its components. The theory is parsimonious in that
it is clear and concise in explanations of the concepts (Bredow, 2009, p. 55).
Discrimination: The scientific process of deductive reformulation lends credibility and sound logic to
Flood s theory of successful aging. Flood, founder who is an advanced practice registered nurse, used
deductive reformulation to develop her theory of successful aging in nursing discipline. Without any
other useful theory of aging to guide nursing care, Flood s (2005) theory offers promise for nursing.
This theory provides a useful framework for interventions that target the mental, physical, and
spiritual health of aging persons. It would be able to produce hypotheses that will lead to research
results in older adult nursing research. However, there is no evidence of a nursing research using this
theory.

Summary Of A Model Of Christian Charity
In 1629, the Massachusetts Bay Company gathered a royal charter to settle a new Puritan colony in
New England. After losing patience with the english government and Charles the first for their dislike
of the puritan group, they did not fight fire with fire so they left to North America after hearing the
group found a new colony in New England. This would give them the ability to practice their beliefs
without persecution. As they ventured to the new colony, John Winthrop wrote a necessary sermon, A
Model of Christian Charity where he and his other founders kept record of hoping to achieve a
community remaining sole devoted to God, that stay true to Calvinism and who are united as a group.
A Model of Christian Charity was written to ensure that even when obstacles occur, the Puritans will
stay united rather than fighting amongst each other. That they will not let their struggle to start in a
new area take over their beliefs that they will have a strong society over the society in England.
Winthrop s sermon starts with the most first question that comes to mind when thinking of why people
are in the positions that they are in, why are some poor and others rich? To answer this, he addressed
three reasons why God wanted it to be that way. The first was that a variety of people means different
ways that god will be honored. Another reason was that the rich would perform acts of kindness to the
poor or less fortunate and this would further the spirit of the ideal life.

Abel In Momaday s The House Made Of Dawn
His body, like his mind, had turned on him; it was his enemy. (Momaday 89) From a very young age
Abel has been nothing short of different. Some may say slow, odd, stupid or lazy. Throughout the
House Made of Dawn by M. Scott Momaday, Abel shows signs of having slow cognitive skills, but
ultimately Abel shows signs of being Autistic or none the less mentally incompetent.
Abel has never had things easy, from the very beginning Abel was exiled because his father was not
part of the tribe. Abel grew up in a tribe that did not accept him because of his mother s actions.
Tragically at the age of five Abel s mother was taken from him. He was so young that he did not
comprehend it. This tragic event in his life is one that he seemingly mentally blocks. ... Show more

Ultimately, this is the first truly mature thing we see Abel do as he sits with his dying grandfather. He
listens to him talk and sing and stays sober for most of it. However, when his grandfather dies Abel
loses it. Abel s grandfather passed away in the very early morning hours. Abel sprang into action and
immediately dressed him up for the funereal and ran to go get the priest. The article Symptomatic
Autism in Childhood and Adolescence states the autistic child, is self centered and bases his responses
to himself and to the outside world on his own unique perceptions. This is exactly what Abel did. He
thought this is what he should do. He had to get it taken care of instantly. When the priest tells Abel
they will take care of it later Abel is extremely upset by this and immediately takes off running.
Running can be viewed as a way for Abel to relieve tension as people with Autism must do.
Furthermore, many believe Abel s jumpy thoughts to be a cause of war and PTSD but, Easson states
The autistic child lives in the immediate present and has very little concept of the future or past. This
directly relates to Abel in the manner that there is no transition to the flashbacks. It is seemingly all in
one time. In Abel s mind, he does not understand what is present and what is passed. They all

Persuasive Essay On Race
The concept of being a post racial society is something that is only a fantasy in America. The country
is constantly dealing with racism based conflict despite the ongoing efforts to end them. Dominant
races are constantly bettering themselves at the cost of the underprivileged minority. To achieve a race
free society, we would have to eliminate the idea of race in general. Instead of there being various
races we should all be unified as one race, the human race, and simply be Americans. In this country,
we are constantly emphasizing the differences between the races. We are all forced to identify as one
race or another when we should instead be focusing on equality and unity over the differences. To
fully understand the extent to which racial differences play a role in American society, we must first
understand the prominence of prejudice and discrimination against minorities in the country.
According to Sensoy and DiAngelo, we use prejudice to place people into groups that make sense
based on gender, age, economic standing, and appearance. We use stereotypes along with prejudice to
generate an understanding of a person without truly knowing them. We then discriminate against
members of this group based solely on what ideals we have created about them due to prejudices that
are often instilled in us from birth (chapter 3). Many Americans adopt views from our parents about
people of a particular race or background and often think negatively of them just because we see

Ammaniti’s Novel, I’m Not Scared Essay
This is a profoundly moral tale of lost innocence and adult cruelty. Do you agree?
Ammaniti s novel I m Not Scared set in Acqua Traverse, Italy 1978 is a powerful text, which explores
relevant social themes and issues. Besides being a tale of adult cruelty and lost innocence we cannot
ignore the role in which loyalty and betrayal play in the novel. These central themes make this novel a
compelling text.
In the novel Michelle journeys from a joyful innocent child into a perceptive and wiser youth. Initially
we view Michelle as a child who is very compassionate, willing to do the forfeit for Barbara to exempt
her from Skull s cruelty. As the story progresses qualities namely courage and loyalty surface in
Michelle. These two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

live in his own excretion this can be seen when Michelle lifts the mattress to the hole A terrible stink
of shit was released . The treatment of Fillipo is appalling, this act is magnified by the fact that the
adults in the village have children of their own yet are capable of such cruelty. The author portrays
Fillipo as identical to Michelle in age and height, the intended effect is to draw parallels with Michelle
and show that Fillipo is like any other nine year old.
Loyalty and betrayal occurs frequently in the text. Michelle is loyal to Fillipo, he is willing to break a
promise he made on my fathers head . He realises the suffering Fillipo endures and forms a bond. He
admits openly towards the end of the text that Fillipo is a friend of mine . Betrayal is also a prominent
theme in the story. To key instances of betrayal occur, the first being Salvatore s betrayal of Michelle.
Secondly we also must view Pino s betrayal of his family. Salvatore s betrayal was a heart wrenching
experience for Michelle. Michelle is beaten by Felice but it is his heart which hurts most, Salvatore
had broken it . Some readers feel that Michelle betrayed Pino however it has to be said that Pino
despite having the best intentions for his family ultimately betrayed them. He was the one who chose

A Study of the Gilded Age Essay
A Study of Social and Economic Aspects of the Gilded Age Henry James and Abraham Cahan lived in
the turn of the twentieth century, where social and economic corruptions were gilded by the extreme
wealth of the few. This period also marked the beginning of a distinction between the European and
American culture. Both authors artistically create in their stories the tragedy and drama of Americans
in Europe and Europeans in America. James lived comfortably in both America and Europe, and it
showed in his work Daisy Miller: A Study in which he creates a fairy tale land full of extravagant
hotels, beautiful sceneries, sparkly blue lakes and well dressed people. Cahan was an immigrant living

James described Veney as for the entertainment of tourists is the business of the place (James 1501)
from the beginning James hints the way American foreigners are perceived does not fit with the outer
appearances of Veney. It is a place for the entertainment of the tourists but Daisy and her family, who
are tourists, but they are not allowed much entertainment, for everything they did, they get criticized
for. When Randolp describes his new home in Rome he says it s all gold on the wall (James 1520),
since James was a writer during the Gilded Age, it was a way to describe the Miller family. On the
outside the Miller looked like they would fit into the social circles because they are wealthy and
dresses extremely well. However, their wealth gilds the fact that they are dislike by other Americans.
Through this James presented the double standard a society has; society looks down upon the poor
folks, but the Millers are still looked down upon because of how they earn their wealth, which is one
of the reasons Mrs. Costello used to reject Daisy. It implies James own dislike for the European
Americans social circle. James displays his aversion and the hypocrisy of the European Americans
social circle. He describes Mrs. Walker as one of those American ladies who while residing abroad
make it a point, in their own phase, of studying European society (James 1528), the social circle
thought they are doing what was right or courteous by

The Texas Revolution Essay
The Texas Revolution
By Jessica Bouillon
Texas History
The Texas Revolution was a key point in our nation s history and in the history of the state of Texas.
For, if Texas had not revolted the way that they did, it would probably not have become a state. There
are many causes that are speculated on why Texas revolted whether they are political disputes against
the Centralist party in Mexico that had primary control at the time of the Revolution. These and more
will be explored. Also, there are key battles in the Texas Revolution that decided the final fate of
Texas, none more famous than the famous Battle of San Jacinto and The Alamo.
The most popular, speculated cause of the Texas Revolution is that Texas was following in the ...

Still another speculated cause for the revolution in Texas was economics. There were many land
speculators that were also U.S. migrants to Texas that were intent on making money from selling land.
They had speculators in Texas, and Coahuila and financial centers in New York and Philadelphia. The
speculators would speculate how much a piece of land was worth then sell it and turn the profits over
to a financial center and make a tremendous profit from it.
Yet another reason why Texans might have revolted was that they were trying to preserve and
maintain the political values and economic gain while under the Constitution of 1824. It gave Texas a
steady population flow of American migrants moving onto Texas soil. It also gave them political
liberty, freedom to own slaves and a steady economic progression. But Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna,
president of Mexico, wished to impose a stricter rule which could also explain why Texas felt the need
to separate from Mexico.
Another speculated cause was that the Anglo Americans that lived there refused to conform to the
Mexican rules and laws. Most were protestant and therefore refused to convert to Catholicism. They
also refused to pay their duties to the government and did not support troop

Puppies For Dog Research Paper
If you want to your dog to have puppies, make sure you follow the tips below in order to ensure that
your dog is healthy and ready for the task of being a mother to a litter of puppies.
Make Sure Your Dog Is Old Enough
The first thing you need to do is keep your dog inside and way from male dogs during its first couple
of cycles. You do not want your dog to become pregnant when it is still a puppy itself. You want your
dog to be strong enough and old enough to take care of its litter on its own.

Just like with humans, your dog will pass any immunities it has built up onto its puppies. Your dog
will pass on that immunity to her puppies through her milk. Additionally, being fully vaccinated will

writing was that I mixed up my verb tenses constantly. I spoke to my teacher and explained my

In 2002 the European Union agreed that from January 2005 international accounting
standards/international financial reporting standards (IASs/IFRSs) would apply for the consolidated
accounts of the EU listed companies (Barth, Landsman, and Lang, 2008). Starting from 2005,
IAS/IFRS adoption has been mandatory in all the member states of the European Union with the
ultimate goal of increasing transparency in financial reporting. This adoption of IAS/IFRS therefore
represents an extraordinary event for empirical research because evidence shows that the mandatory
adoption of IAS/IFRS in Europe results in better quality of financial reporting. In fact, empirical
studies provide some support to the notion that adopting IAS/IFRS improves the quality of financial
reporting and of public information (Palea, 2013).

reliability, I made one change. In my plan, I said that I was going to use 20cm³ of starch for each

might not have had enough solution if I only used 20cm³ of starch. If this was the case, then I would
have to stop the experiment half way through, which would have prevented me from obtaining

The Role Of Women And Their Participation During The Civil...
Women s role has evolved through time and it is clear that women did history, but they are not always
portrayed in the history books. That is why it is important to analyze the roles of women and their
participation during the Civil War. This was an important event that marked a change the role of
women in society. There are narratives and records of how women experienced, and contributed
during the Civil War. The women from the North, South, elite and poorer social status, they all had
different perspectives, rights, and roles. These women were involved in many aspects of the economy,
policy, and social services. There is one in particular, Clara Barton, who did an amazing work during
the war and then she was inspired to found the American Red Cross. During the Civil War, women did
not wait around for their loves ones to come back from the battlefield. Instead they played many roles
that made them important part of the war effort. Many women secretly enlisted in the army there are
records of women cross dressing in order to be accepted and treated as one of the male soldiers , some
served as spies, smugglers, abolitionists, civil rights advocates, promoter of women s suffrage, and
participated in war relief efforts for both the North and the South, while others became nurses and
aides. There were four categories for soldering women: Daughters (or Mothers) of the Regiment,
Vivandiere or cantiniere, Battlefield nurse ( soldier nurse ), and Field hospital nurse. In paper

Machiavelli s The Prince, only much more richly illustrated, with anecdotes drawn from talk show

Essay on The Federal Bureau of Investigation
The Federal Bureau of Investigation
The agency now known as the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) was founded in 1908 when
Attorney General Charles J. Bonaparte appointed an unnamed force of Special Agents to be the
investigative force of the Department of Justice (DOJ). Prior to that time, DOJ borrowed Agents from
the U.S. Secret Service to investigate violations of federal criminal laws within its jurisdiction.
By order of Attorney General George W. Wickersham, the Special Agent force was named the Bureau
of Investigation in 1909. Following a series of changes in name, the Federal Bureau of Investigation
officially received its present title in 1935.
During the early period of the FBI s history, its Agents investigated ... Show more content on

With the end of that war and the advent of the Atomic Age, the FBI began conducting background
security investigations for the White House and other government agencies, as well as probes into
internal security matters for the Executive Branch.
Civil rights violations and organized crime became major concerns of the FBI in the 1960 s, as did
counterterrorism, white collar crime, drugs, and violent crimes during 1970 s and 1980 s.
The 1990 s brought even more investigative responsibilities to the Bureau like computer crimes,
health care fraud, economic espionage, and threats from weapons of mass destruction.
The FBI is the principal investigative arm of the United States Department of Justice. Title 28, United
States Code, Section 533, which authorizes the Attorney General to appoint officials to detect...crimes
against the United States, and other federal statutes give the FBI the authority and responsibility to
investigate specific crimes. At present, the FBI has investigative jurisdiction over violations of more
than 200 categories of federal crimes.
The Bureau is also authorized to investigate matters where no prosecution is contemplated. For
example, under the authority of several Executive Orders, the FBI conducts background security
checks concerning nominees to sensitive government positions. In addition, the FBI has been directed
or authorized by Presidential statements or directives to obtain information about activities

Learning New Concepts And Points Of View
For my flexibility, it says that I take a highly flexible approach to life and are likely very open to new
and changing ideas and circumstances. I agree with this point a lot, because throughout my life so far I
have had to change things that I have done last minute to accomplish something else that was going
on. Also, it says that I tend to embrace change in school, work and life in general. I agree with this too,
because during school I always got excited when I got a new class because it was something different.
Lastly, it says that flexibility allows me to be open to learning new concepts and exploring differing
points of view. This one is a little harder for me to completely agree to, because yes I am open to new
ideas but not all the time when exploring new concepts and points of view. One example is when I
was suppose to tutor a girl in my high school and she was having problems finding a time that would
work for both of us. I came up with a time during school that we could meet and I told her that she
could come up with any day Monday through Friday at the time that we had determined would work
best for both of us.
My social responsibility is very accurate. It states that I have a strong concern and compassion for
society and act act as a champion for making a difference. The other one says that I likely gain deeper
connection to the welfare of others and as a result, gain a broad perspective of others struggles. I have
always felt that I have had a strong

The Influence Of The Modern Period In British And Irish...
The modernist period in British and Irish literature was one of the most important and exciting times
in literary history. The term modernist stemmed from the beginning of the 20th century labelled the
modern period. The modern period was a time of confusion and transitions, mostly due to the result of
people returning from World War I. The modern period was an era of massive unemployment and
technological changes. Freud, Jung, and Marx were redefining human identity, Assembly lines and
factories were being introduced, and gender differences were starting to crumble. The modern period
was a time of change, and the field of Literature was no exception. Susan Gorsky, in her book titled
Virginia Woolf, states that Virginia Woolf perhaps ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Poetry, Drama, and fiction were subjected to intensive scrutiny and extensive redefinition, producing
some of the most unusual and often difficult literary creations in English: Eliot s Wasteland, Yeat s
Plays for Dancers, and the fiction of Joyce and Lawrence is some examples. Modernist literature
reflects in it s structure as well as in it s content the overturning of tradition; the instances upon new
design produced plays and stories without plots or recognizably human characters, poems without
rhyme or meter (16, 17). The Modernist author was able to identify with their audience by creating
stories that not only asked important questions, but also got under the reader s skin. In George Orwell
s essay titled Inside the Whale, he addresses the fact that James Joyce s Ulysses is remarkable due to
the fact of its commonplaceness of its material. (Inside The Whale and Other Essays, 11). The reader
is able to put themselves in the characters shoes, the characters are very three dimensional, and like
modern life their stories are not so much like a fairy tales, as they are of everyday life. The character
Joyce creates in Ulysses enters many different states of consciousness, dream states, drunkenness....
demonstrating the ability modern literature has in relating the ideas of consciousness, in a way that the
reader would be able to identify with. Orwell goes further to say that Ulysses was filled with a Whole

Lord Of The Sinner By J. M. Bradbury
In regards to the concepts of desire and pleasure Laura Esquivel said, Each of us is born with a box of
matches inside us, but we can t strike them all by ourselves. Desire for pleasure is hard wired into
human nature, and people will do whatever they can to acquire it. One strong desire of pleasure is that
which involves the human body and all the pleasures it has to offer. That desire however, exists on a
thin border one that if crossed enters the realm of lust. It is a realm of carnal sin that paves the road to
harsh and unrelenting punishment for all who follow it. Disgrace by J. M. Coetzee, demonstrates lust
and the punishment that comes with it through several events befalling Byronic protagonist David
Lurie. Given the horrifying assault scene of Disgrace, Coetzee is alluding to the second circle of hell
in Dante s Inferno and the punishment for the sin of lust. The first allusion to hell s second circle in
Disgrace s rape and battery scene is the entrapment of the sinner. After being knocked unconscious by
his assailants, David wakes to find himself in the bathroom of his daughter s ranch house. After
recovering slightly and attempting to exit the room, he was placed in David finds himself trapped: He
tries to kick at the door, but he is not himself, and the space too cramped anyway, the door too old and
solid (Coetzee 94). Despite any effort David could attempt in his situation, he finds himself at the
mercy of his surroundings. Similar notions can be said for

Harry Harlow s Study On Attachment In Monkeys
For my project, I made banana bread to represent my psychologist, Harry Harlow. He is most known
for his work in developmental psychology, basing his studies on attachment in infants. Harlow
removed infant monkeys from their mothers and placed them in two different groups. For the first
group, the monkeys were presented with a terrycloth mother that provided no food and one with a
hard wire mesh that provided food (milk through a bottle). In the second group, the monkeys were
presented with a terrycloth mother that provided food and a wired one that did not. Harlow discovered
that the infant monkey stuck close to the terrycloth mother, whether or not it provided food. The
monkey would even stay with the cloth mother and ignore the food. Thus,

My Dream Is A Place Of Spirituality And Emotional Expression
Me: If this were my dream, a church is a place of spirituality and emotional expression. A classroom is
a place of learning and objective sharing of information. I went to school long ago when I was young
and more optimistic the years have made me more cynical. I am rushed and unsure of what is going on
in my life. I am late to class and no seems to care because I no longer in that phase of my life, I have
moved on. I am now employed in Las Angeles and no longer go to school. The pressures in my life
have changed from educational to occupational. I am now working, no longer in school, but I still feel
like the frustration of not knowing where I am going in life. The dream represents the journey from
youth and school to maturity and responsibility . This for me was the most difficult aspect of dream
work. I found this stage of the process to be stressful and demanding. At first my mind locked up and I
could not think of anything. I think my problem was I tried too hard to offer meanings that would
resonate with the dreamer. Once I relaxed and let the meanings flow without judgement the process
became easier. Stage 3A: Back to the Dreamer. The dream is returned to the dreamer who is invited to
offer her thoughts to the group (Ullman, 2006). The dreamer will choose to respond (or not) to the
group in any manners, she wishes, and makes whatever comments she chooses (Sturzenacker, G.,
2008). The role of the group at this point is to listen to the dreamer. It is important

It was the first time scuba diving for my sister and I and we were both excitedly nervous, like right
before you go off the drop of a roller coaster. The water was warm enough to where didn t need
wetsuits, just a tank, mask and flippers. My dad helped us into our vests and tank and showed us how
to inflate and deflate them. He assured us we were not going very deep so there was nothing to worry
about. My sister was the first one in the water, dad told her she was all ready and without hesitation
she jumped right in. She had never been afraid of anything, and was always the first person I went too
if I was scared. I was cautious and afraid of almost everything. Dad helped me into my gear.
Everything was four sizes too big, since they do not make scuba gear for eight year olds. Dad asked if

into the water. Crying, I swam a direct line to Tawnya in hopes that she could make the fear I had of

bit until dad jumped in creating the biggest splash I had ever seen. Dad checked us one more time, and
down we went into a whole new world.

professionals want to do the right thing, but could not understand doing it in a right way. This situation
gives rise to an ethical dilemma. The term ethics represents the moral value where a person is concern
for a good behavior, and considers it as an obligation to not only consider personal well being but also
that of others. Thus, ethical behavior is the most appropriate behavior, which includes moral

The Ethical Treatment of Prisoners
The ethical treatment of prisoners is a surprisingly contentious topic, considering how much is known
about the conditions and contexts in which human beings function optimally, both physically and
mentally. However, ethical discussions frequently have very little to do with what best allows human
beings to thrive and function, but instead concern themselves with formulating rules and standards of
acceptable behavior, usually out of the mistaken belief that these rules or standards represent some
kind of objective, universal ethics. A problem arises when dealing with prisoners, because in many
people s minds, the crime or offense of which a prisoner is accused warrants the denial of a certain
subset of their rights, but there is not universal acceptance of which rights may be denied and to what
extent, due to a disconnect between different modes of ethical thought. Believing in objective,
universal ethical standards actually means that anything is justifiable; because these imagined
objective standards do not actually exist, people are free to imagine them however they see fit. More
utilitarian ethics rooted in conceptions of the social contract are far more useful for determining social
policy, because they do not purport to represent objective ethical standards; rather, they acknowledge
that ethics and morality are socially constructed, and as such they seek to rationally determine the best
practices for achieving any particular goal. By examining two especially

George Orwell s Down And Out Of Paris And London Essay
Poverty in 20 century is further discussed and analyzed. People rarely consider that the poverty is
caused by economic inequality; income not divided evenly, and class structure in the USA becoming
like a fat jar with small base. With the growing concern of poverty, people begin to think whether
American Dream still exists in this country. However, the poverty phenomena is gradually being
changed. In contrast to modern society, the working poor nowadays have better condition than the
situation that described in the book of Down and Out of Paris and London. During the Orwell s
period, he described the dehumanized working circumstances as a plongeurs. Although poverty in 20st
century remains, the situations that the working poor face actually become much better compared with
1930 s Paris. That is, comparing to the old days, in contemporary society, the working poor get helps
from government, and are empowered by both the government and themselves, and receive the helps
from philanthropic organizations.
Comparing with Orwell s period and contemporary, the working poor are no longer with no right and
exploited by capital since the government gets involved to protect their right. In reading of Down and
Out in Paris and London, Orwell narrates the working situation of working poor: the cook s working

My Strengths And Weaknesses Of Leadership
There are many forms and styles of leadership. There are leaders in schools, churches, homes, and
leaders in communities. There are even sometimes leaders within a friend group. Leaders are unique
because of the qualities they possess. The course Black Women Developing Public Leadership Skill is
a great course to help prepare any young black woman for a bright future as a leader. As a result of the
course I have been able to view leadership in different ways than I have before. I have learned that
every leader has their own strengths and weaknesses. Often times leaders receive praise and are
looked up to for everything that they are good at doing. People usually forget or ignore weaknesses in
a leader until the leader lets its audience down.
I have learned my strengths and my weaknesses as a leader. I have learned that some of my strengths
during public speaking are being confident, relaxed, and being able to articulate my points very well. I
learned that my weakness was not including as much detail as I could have. During the rest of this
course and in the future I plan to make a conscious effort to make sure that I not only provide details,
but that I make sure that I provide enough details for other people to understand all that I am saying or
doing when I am being a leader. Now that I am fully aware of my strengths and weaknesses I can
practice them and grow throughout the duration of the course

Evaluating The Cutting Process Parameters For Achieving...
Milling is a constructive machining process used in the production industry to make and assembling
the components. The extensive and expensive experimental work is necessary to evaluate the cutting
process parameters for achieving the preferred machined quality. In this regard, the present work is
focused on minimizing the machined damage. Moreover, the paper presents the comparative analysis
and performance of two different mill tools such as a specially designed carbide tipped tool and a solid
carbide tool. Subsequently, comparing the evaluation of two tools was illustrated by plotting origin
graphs. Finally, experimental results were thoroughly analyzed by Scanning electron micrographs to
study the cutting characteristics of machined surface texture.

The Universal Health Care System
Every country vision is to have a universal health care system. A system that is not necessary free but
a system where everyone has equal opportunity to get the best health care being offered without any
partiality. Canada successfully implemented the universal health care to its citizens, but it is not
perfect in any sense. Individuals citizens are provided with preventive care and medical treatment
from primary care physicians as well as access to hospitals. There are still many services that are not
covered or partially covered (Canadian Health Care, 2014 2017). Prescription medication,
physiotherapy, ambulance services, prescription eyeglasses as well as dental care are some of the
services that are not covered under the health care system (Canada s universal health care system,
2015)). Some Provinces may provide partial coverage for mental health patients, children living in
poverty as well as old people. With the implementation of the Affordable Care Act in 2012, we can
now say that the U.S. is on the road to hopefully having a universal health care system or a system that
covered most residents. The Affordable care act can be considered to be the most significant overhaul
of the health care industry in decades since the defeat of the Clinton Health Security Act of 1993(Sultz

painting medium. The goals were identical to the two other pieces in the series in which I would set
out to paint realistic portaits using only primary colors as a palette base for my models skin tones and
color.
Formal Critique of Studio Product:
Originally, I wanted this piece to be a portait of two fictional people from my own Imagination.
However, later after much contemplating, I realized that I wanted to ... Show more content on

I learned that while I do a good job in self managing my time in class and at school for my projects, I
could work on better communication with my art teacher. Throughout the trimester I realized that it s
okay to ask for help and advice when I m unsure about my work, even though I think I might not need
to. In additon, time management in terms of balancing time for art projects and academics outside of
school is another challenging area where I could work on practicing. Before Independent art, I never
felt like I was challenged enough with the art classes in my older school. I never considered (to the
point that I do now) the importance of time management in the process of creating art because I
considered many of the assigned projects to be small and easy. Even outside of school, I rarely work
on a deadline for any paintings or drawings. I hope that I can take what I learned and practiced it so I
can apply it to future art classes or future career paths that I many

The Ethics Of Business Ethics In Industrial Relations
Business Ethics in Industrial Relations
ABSTRACT
Industrial relations study has generally revolved around institutions of workplace governance, and
their effect on the interests of different parties, supplemented on occasion by concern for employee
voice. Business ethics has focused on individuals actions and on policies or rules that ought to apply
to them, but has neglected workplace institutions. Between the two areas there is a gap, where studies
about institutions of workplace governance fail to deal with issues of ethics at work and where studies
of business ethics neglect institutional arrangements. Attempts to bridge the gap do not seem to have
considered the effects which institutions have on individuals as ethical decision makers, and the way
that arrangements like incentive structures or effi ciency requirements can place individuals in ethical
dilemmas or encourage them to ignore ethics entirely. In the design of workplace institutions,
consideration needs to be given not only to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ethics should brought into the industries because ethics should govern all voluntary human activities
and because business is a voluntary human activity ethics should also govern business. Ethics shouid
be a part of industrial relation because industrial activities like any other human activities, cannot
exists unless the people involved in the business and its sorrounding community adhere to some
minimal standards of ethics. Business is a cooperative activity whose very existences requires ethical
behavior. Any individual business will collapse if all of its managers, employees and customers come
to think that it is morally permissible to steal from, lia to, or break their agreements with the
company, because no business can exists without ethics

Dear Ms. Sharpe:
RE: PORTFOLIO ANALYSIS ON VANGUARD, REYNOLDS AND HASBRO
Investment decision is an intricate process that requires careful analysis of individual investment
options available for continued profitability. Different financial analyses provide different
perspectives. While ratio analysis of an individual company offers the financial health of that
company, its comparison with other key investment opportunities may be limited when comparing
across different industries. This analysis seeks to utilize a number of statistical and financial results
emerging from the analysis of 5 years of data. The results will be analyzed and discussed per
individual subheading used in the analysis to provide a broader picture.
The mean of Vanguard is 0.57433 as compared to RJR and Hasbro whose means are significantly high
at 1.87483333 and 1.18383. However, the standard deviations of the three variables indicate that
Vanguard has the lowest standard deviation at 3.60171 as compared to 9.36645828 and 8.11583 for
RJR and Hasbro respectively. The lowest standard deviation as in the case of Vanguard indicates that
the data is more reliable and provides a more realistic data set than the other data sets. Thus, Vanguard
provides the best investment opportunity. The median of the data may not provide a very accurate
description of the variables although Vanguard s

Usually automated mining consists of two types of technology with the first dealing with the
operations and software advancement and second one helps in mining vehicles and equipment with
computerized technology by applying robots. The technology is offered in three forms full
automation, remote control and teleoperation. Handheld remote control helps in mining bulldozers
that operate in risky conditions like underground mining, blast areas and are operated with the use of
handheld remote. Teleoperated technology also helps in mining vehicles by a operator but at a safe
distance from the mining location with use of positioning software, cameras. Lastly whole automation,
providing actual autonomous command of more than one mining vehicle. Robotic technology is used
mostly for accelerating, ignition, and brake without the need for operator.

Aristotle Body

Ancient Philosophy

Final Examination
Aristotle s definition of the soul is the substance in the sense which corresponds to the definitive
formula of a thing s essence. Aristotle thought that the soul is the Form of the body. The soul is
basically all of the operations of a human being. Aristotle believed that there are levels of living
things. He stated that plants only have a vegetative soul, animals are above plants because they have
senses and appetites, and humans are above animals because it has the power of reasoning and
knowledge us. Aristotle tries to explain the difference between the body and the soul using an axe as
an example. If an axe were a living thing, then its body would be made ... Show more content on

He argues that because of this, there is growth, deterioration, and reproduction. Aristotle says that
plants only have this type of ability. To obtain this, it is important to have a soul. The next level is
sensation. Because of this quality, the feelings of pain and pleasure arises. Aristotle says that animals
have this quality. For a soul to have sensations, vegetation must be there as well. In other words, if
sensation is a characteristic of the soul, its vegetative ability is added as well. The next capacity that
can be developed is appetite, which is very much related to sensation. After the soul is able to feel,
there is a rush of desires. Some desires go along with what we physically need like thirst and hunger
and other desires that we do not need like emotions like anger. The next step is motion, which is
movement from place to place and rest. As said before, in order to have this ability, it is essential to
have the previous ones, building up on the soul. For motion to be possible, appetite, sensation and
vegetation must also be there. The last level is understanding; which Aristotle thinks is the most
unusual. This involves reasoning using thought and intelligence. In this category, humans would most
likely be found even though Aristotle states that some people are guided only by imagination and not
intelligence. Again, to have this quality, all of the characteristics stated before must be

Brown Shirt Essay Brown Shirts The most dynamic segment of the Nazi movements before it came to power was Sturmabteilung (SA) or Brown Shirts which protected Hitler s political meetings from the attacks by rivals (Campbell 659). SA functioned as a paramilitary wing of the Nazi party during the raise of Hitler in 1920s and 1930s. Their name Brown Shirts came after the uniform that they used which was inspired by the Mussolini s Black Shirts, and their main duty was to eliminate all the enemies and coordinated allies once the Nazis were in the control of the German state, 1933. SA was consisted by Freikorps, post World War One nationalist and people who opposed the Versailles treaty while the Nazi Party or NSDAP was created from German people which ... In 1931, the captain of SA was changed and the new leader was Ernst Rőhm, who created a system structure in the SA by putting Hitler as the supreme leader of SA and then by putting himself as the chief of staff. Since SA grew while Rőhm was in charge, Rőhm started to believe that a revolution will happen and he would be on top of it (Hancock 2). Furthermore, he suggested SA and army to be combined for his new force, and this suggestion horrified senior officers. Senior officers of Reichswehr became horrified because traditionally they have seemed SA as street thugs without discipline and class who did bad things to humanity. Among these beliefs, Hitler also was concerned with the chief of SA who was becoming a threat for the Nazi party. All in all, Rőhm was not satisfied with Hitlers choices and he sends Hitler a letter writing that he is betraying everyone and that his commanders are not the ones who will lead to a revolution as SA would ( The Sturmabteilung or SA 5) . The fate of Rőhm changed after this letter was written since Hitler made a deal with Reichswehr and decided to get rid of officers of SA. This resulted to the Night of the Long Knives which took place in June 1934. The Night of Long Knives is known as the purge where SS or the first paramilitary army of Nazi Party arrests and kills the officers and the chief of SA which has been a threat for Hitler. • 3. Internal Stress In Law Enforcement There are many stress categories that law enforcement will face when it comes to performing their occupational duties. The first stress category is internal or individual stress. Stress can happen at any time especially on the internal side as there is always a chance of an officer worrying about the competency to handle an assignment. If the assignment they are working on is causing individual stress the feelings of helplessness and vulnerability starts to happen when they feel the pressure of trying to finish an assignment. Officers start to feel the internal stress that everyone is counting on them to get the assignment they are working on in perfect working order. Since crime never sleeps the assignments that make officers internally stress over each assignment critical which can lead to more time being spent on duty rather than off duty. The dearth of time for personal development can translate into divorce, suicide, alcoholism, or burnout . The stress of the job and having a family takes its toll but those who can cope with the internal stress of their job and family are the one that can have both at the same time. Although there are some factors of internal stress that can lead officers to eventually end their career with no family, no friends other than a few cops and no outside interests Officers that have internal stress can have feelings that their trapped in their profession because the internal stress of being a law enforcement officers is just to ... Advantages And Disadvantages Of Textual Passwords The system and information security is most important factor for security program and the major security method for information and system security is authentication[1]. The authentication is widely used for verifying the identity of a particular person. The most popular authentication method is password authentication. In this, textual(alphanumeric) passwords are mostly used as traditional method. These types of textual passwords are strings of letters and digits. But there are several deficiencies in these textual passwords such as passwords used are short and simple which are easy to remember[2].So textual passwords can be personal names of family members, dictionary words, birth date, pet name, phone number etc.and vulnerable to various attacks like dictionary attack, easy to guess etc.[3][4] Mostly users require the passwords for personal computers, social networks, email and more, and for all these systems. • 6. Analysis Of The Hunger Games Let me start off by saying, DEREK AND MEREDITH WERE DESTINED TO BE TOGETHER AND LIVE A HAPPY LIFE . If you ask the spectators of the show what they think about Shonda Rhimes and her decisions in regards to her show, their first response might be that Shonda Rhimes might just be the most heartless and evil woman on this earth. Grey s Anatomy involves real life situations in which people (in this case the actors) have to learn to trust one another and ask them for help and support. The unity that is shown most of the time on the show is heartwarming. From season to season the viewers are taken into an emotional rollercoaster in which we never see what s coming next. Every episode for the most part may be argued to follow the same sequence in which it starts normal and then BOOM something happens and everyone or at least the ones involve put on their gear and work together to solve it and it s those moments that grab the audience s full attention. The bonds created between the characters make it seem for everyone to have that happiness, loyalty, love and more in their lives. The meaning of friendship, love and family are constantly being questioned but until now they have been able to overcome any obstacle put on their way. The first three movies of the Hunger Games sequel are very captivating to the viewers. Moreover, the model is exhibited in this paper is an elucidate of the theory s components structure and would present the interrelationship of its components. The theory is parsimonious in that it is clear and concise in explanations of the concepts (Bredow, 2009, p. 55). Flood, founder who is an advanced practice registered nurse, used deductive reformulation to develop her theory of successful aging in nursing discipline. Without any other useful theory of aging to guide nursing care, Flood s (2005) theory offers promise for nursing. • 9. Summary Of A Model Of Christian Charity In 1629, the Massachusetts Bay Company gathered a royal charter to settle a new Puritan colony in New England. After losing patience with the english government and Charles the first for their dislike of the puritan group, they did not fight fire with fire so they left to North America after hearing the group found a new colony in New England. This would give them the ability to practice their beliefs without persecution. As they ventured to the new colony, John Winthrop wrote a necessary sermon, A Model of Christian Charity where he and his other founders kept record of hoping to achieve a community remaining sole devoted to God, that stay true to Calvinism and who are united as a group. A Model of Christian Charity was written to ensure that even when obstacles occur, the Puritans will stay united rather than fighting amongst each other. That they will not let their struggle to start in a new area take over their beliefs that they will have a strong society over the society in England. Winthrop s sermon starts with the most first question that comes to mind when thinking of why people are in the positions that they are in, why are some poor and others rich? To answer this, he addressed three reasons why God wanted it to be that way. The first was that a variety of people means different ways that god will be honored. Another reason was that the rich would perform acts of kindness to the poor or less fortunate and this would further the spirit of the ideal life. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some may say slow, odd, stupid or lazy. Throughout the House Made of Dawn by M. Scott Momaday, Abel shows signs of having slow cognitive skills, but ultimately Abel shows signs of being Autistic or none the less mentally incompetent. Abel has never had things easy, from the very beginning Abel was exiled because his father was not part of the tribe. Abel grew up in a tribe that did not accept him because of his mother s actions. Tragically at the age of five Abel s mother was taken from him. He was so young that he did not comprehend it. This tragic event in his life is one that he seemingly mentally blocks. ... He listens to him talk and sing and stays sober for most of it. However, when his grandfather dies Abel loses it. Abel s grandfather passed away in the very early morning hours. Abel sprang into action and immediately dressed him up for the funereal and ran to go get the priest. The article Symptomatic Autism in Childhood and Adolescence states the autistic child, is self centered and bases his responses to himself and to the outside world on his own unique perceptions. This is exactly what Abel did. He thought this is what he should do. He had to get it taken care of instantly. When the priest tells Abel they will take care of it later Abel is extremely upset by this and immediately takes off running. Running can be viewed as a way for Abel to relieve tension as people with Autism must do. Furthermore, many believe Abel s jumpy thoughts to be a cause of war and PTSD but, Easson states The autistic child lives in the immediate present and has very little concept of the future or past. • 11. Persuasive Essay On Race The concept of being a post racial society is something that is only a fantasy in America. The country is constantly dealing with racism based conflict despite the ongoing efforts to end them. Dominant races are constantly bettering themselves at the cost of the underprivileged minority. To achieve a race free society, we would have to eliminate the idea of race in general. Instead of there being various races we should all be unified as one race, the human race, and simply be Americans. In this country, we are constantly emphasizing the differences between the races. We are all forced to identify as one race or another when we should instead be focusing on equality and unity over the differences. To fully understand the extent to which racial differences play a role in American society, we must first understand the prominence of prejudice and discrimination against minorities in the country. According to Sensoy and DiAngelo, we use prejudice to place people into groups that make sense based on gender, age, economic standing, and appearance. We use stereotypes along with prejudice to generate an understanding of a person without truly knowing them. We then discriminate against members of this group based solely on what ideals we have created about them due to prejudices that are often instilled in us from birth (chapter 3). Many Americans adopt views from our parents about people of a particular race or background and often think negatively of them just because we see ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Study of the Gilded Age Essay A Study of Social and Economic Aspects of the Gilded Age Henry James and Abraham Cahan lived in the turn of the twentieth century, where social and economic corruptions were gilded by the extreme wealth of the few. This period also marked the beginning of a distinction between the European and American culture. Both authors artistically create in their stories the tragedy and drama of Americans in Europe and Europeans in America. When Randolp describes his new home in Rome he says it s all gold on the wall (James 1520), since James was a writer during the Gilded Age, it was a way to describe the Miller family. On the outside the Miller looked like they would fit into the social circles because they are wealthy and dresses extremely well. However, their wealth gilds the fact that they are dislike by other Americans. Through this James presented the double standard a society has; society looks down upon the poor folks, but the Millers are still looked down upon because of how they earn their wealth, which is one of the reasons Mrs. Costello used to reject Daisy. It implies James own dislike for the European Americans social circle. James displays his aversion and the hypocrisy of the European Americans social circle. They had speculators in Texas, and Coahuila and financial centers in New York and Philadelphia. The speculators would speculate how much a piece of land was worth then sell it and turn the profits over to a financial center and make a tremendous profit from it. Yet another reason why Texans might have revolted was that they were trying to preserve and maintain the political values and economic gain while under the Constitution of 1824. It gave Texas a steady population flow of American migrants moving onto Texas soil. It also gave them political liberty, freedom to own slaves and a steady economic progression. But Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna, president of Mexico, wished to impose a stricter rule which could also explain why Texas felt the need to separate from Mexico. In fact, empirical studies provide some support to the notion that adopting IAS/IFRS improves the quality of financial reporting and of public information (Palea, 2013). 3.1.4 Data sources In this thesis, secondary data is used to answer the two research questions. The data have been collected from two main sources: bank s annual reports and Datastream. Following the approach of many prior empirical studies the data on CDS and derivative are hand collected from banks annual reports (e.g., Allayannis and Ofek, 2001; Rajgopal and Shevlin, 2002; Supanvanij and Strauss, 2010). • 19. The Effect of Substrate Concentration on the Rate of Reaction Method I generally followed most of my plan for the experiments, but to improve accuracy and reliability, I made one change. In my plan, I said that I was going to use 20cm³ of starch for each experiment. However, in my actual experiment I used 40cm³ of starch. This is because I thought I might not have had enough solution if I only used 20cm³ of starch. If this was the case, then I would have to stop the experiment half way through, which would have prevented me from obtaining accurate results. So for this reason, my results would be more accurate and reliable. For everything else, I followed my original plan. To ensure the results were accurate, I made sure I accurately measured out the amylase and starch solutions for each ... Women s role has evolved through time and it is clear that women did history, but they are not always portrayed in the history books. Many women secretly enlisted in the army there are records of women cross dressing in order to be accepted and treated as one of the male soldiers , some served as spies, smugglers, abolitionists, civil rights advocates, promoter of women s suffrage, and participated in war relief efforts for both the North and the South, while others became nurses and aides. • 24. Learning New Concepts And Points Of View For my flexibility, it says that I take a highly flexible approach to life and are likely very open to new and changing ideas and circumstances. I agree with this point a lot, because throughout my life so far I have had to change things that I have done last minute to accomplish something else that was going on. Also, it says that I tend to embrace change in school, work and life in general. I agree with this too, because during school I always got excited when I got a new class because it was something different. Lastly, it says that flexibility allows me to be open to learning new concepts and exploring differing points of view. This one is a little harder for me to completely agree to, because yes I am open to new ideas but not all the time when exploring new concepts and points of view. One example is when I was suppose to tutor a girl in my high school and she was having problems finding a time that would work for both of us. I came up with a time during school that we could meet and I told her that she could come up with any day Monday through Friday at the time that we had determined would work best for both of us. My social responsibility is very accurate. It states that I have a strong concern and compassion for society and act act as a champion for making a difference. The other one says that I likely gain deeper connection to the welfare of others and as a result, gain a broad perspective of others struggles. I have always felt that I have had a strong ... • 25. The Influence Of The Modern Period In British And Irish... The modernist period in British and Irish literature was one of the most important and exciting times in literary history. The term modernist stemmed from the beginning of the 20th century labelled the modern period. The modern period was an era of massive unemployment and technological changes. Freud, Jung, and Marx were redefining human identity, Assembly lines and factories were being introduced, and gender differences were starting to crumble. Poetry, Drama, and fiction were subjected to intensive scrutiny and extensive redefinition, producing some of the most unusual and often difficult literary creations in English: Eliot s Wasteland, Yeat s Plays for Dancers, and the fiction of Joyce and Lawrence is some examples. Modernist literature reflects in it s structure as well as in it s content the overturning of tradition; the instances upon new design produced plays and stories without plots or recognizably human characters, poems without rhyme or meter (16, 17). The Modernist author was able to identify with their audience by creating stories that not only asked important questions, but also got under the reader s skin. In George Orwell s essay titled Inside the Whale, he addresses the fact that James Joyce s Ulysses is remarkable due to the fact of its commonplaceness of its material. • 26. Lord Of The Sinner By J. M. Bradbury In regards to the concepts of desire and pleasure Laura Esquivel said, Each of us is born with a box of matches inside us, but we can t strike them all by ourselves. Desire for pleasure is hard wired into human nature, and people will do whatever they can to acquire it. One strong desire of pleasure is that which involves the human body and all the pleasures it has to offer. That desire however, exists on a thin border one that if crossed enters the realm of lust. It is a realm of carnal sin that paves the road to harsh and unrelenting punishment for all who follow it. Disgrace by J. M. Coetzee, demonstrates lust and the punishment that comes with it through several events befalling Byronic protagonist David Lurie. Given the horrifying assault scene of Disgrace, Coetzee is alluding to the second circle of hell in Dante s Inferno and the punishment for the sin of lust. The first allusion to hell s second circle in Disgrace s rape and battery scene is the entrapment of the sinner. After being knocked unconscious by his assailants, David wakes to find himself in the bathroom of his daughter s ranch house. After recovering slightly and attempting to exit the room, he was placed in David finds himself trapped: He tries to kick at the door, but he is not himself, and the space too cramped anyway, the door too old and solid (Coetzee 94). Despite any effort David could attempt in his situation, he finds himself at the mercy of his surroundings. Similar notions can be said for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. The Ethical Treatment of Prisoners The ethical treatment of prisoners is a surprisingly contentious topic, considering how much is known about the conditions and contexts in which human beings function optimally, both physically and mentally. However, ethical discussions frequently have very little to do with what best allows human beings to thrive and function, but instead concern themselves with formulating rules and standards of acceptable behavior, usually out of the mistaken belief that these rules or standards represent some kind of objective, universal ethics. A problem arises when dealing with prisoners, because in many people s minds, the crime or offense of which a prisoner is accused warrants the denial of a certain subset of their rights, but there is not universal acceptance of which rights may be denied and to what extent, due to a disconnect between different modes of ethical thought. Believing in objective, universal ethical standards actually means that anything is justifiable; because these imagined objective standards do not actually exist, people are free to imagine them however they see fit. More utilitarian ethics rooted in conceptions of the social contract are far more useful for determining social policy, because they do not purport to represent objective ethical standards; rather, they acknowledge that ethics and morality are socially constructed, and as such they seek to rationally determine the best practices for achieving any particular goal. • 35. George Orwell s Down And Out Of Paris And London Essay Poverty in 20 century is further discussed and analyzed. People rarely consider that the poverty is caused by economic inequality; income not divided evenly, and class structure in the USA becoming like a fat jar with small base. With the growing concern of poverty, people begin to think whether American Dream still exists in this country. However, the poverty phenomena is gradually being changed. In contrast to modern society, the working poor nowadays have better condition than the situation that described in the book of Down and Out of Paris and London. During the Orwell s period, he described the dehumanized working circumstances as a plongeurs. Although poverty in 20st century remains, the situations that the working poor face actually become much better compared with 1930 s Paris. That is, comparing to the old days, in contemporary society, the working poor get helps from government, and are empowered by both the government and themselves, and receive the helps from philanthropic organizations. Comparing with Orwell s period and contemporary, the working poor are no longer with no right and exploited by capital since the government gets involved to protect their right. Canada successfully implemented the universal health care to its citizens, but it is not perfect in any sense. Individuals citizens are provided with preventive care and medical treatment from primary care physicians as well as access to hospitals. There are still many services that are not covered or partially covered (Canadian Health Care, 2014 2017). Prescription medication, physiotherapy, ambulance services, prescription eyeglasses as well as dental care are some of the services that are not covered under the health care system (Canada s universal health care system, 2015)).
