Why Concerning Global War On Terrorism And Clash Of...
B. Why relating Global War on Terrorism to Clash of Civilization is incorrect?
There are several factors that argues that relating global war on terrorism to clash of civilization is
incorrect. For example,
a. The Global war on Terror and Huntington s Clash of Civilization could not be engaged in the same
position because the West especially the UK and the US and some other Muslim countries like Saudi
Arabia, the UAE, Pakistan and Uzbekistan helped AQ when it was in war with the Soviet Union
(Lansford, Watson and Covarrubias, 2009). So, according to Joseph Nye (2004: 17), the struggle
against Islamist terrorism is not a clash of civilizations. In the same way, Ahmed S. Hashim (2001:29)
relates that it is not in the interest of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There was an aim of establishing US s hegemony over South Asia by this attack. For example, the
then US President s national security adviser James L. Jones stated while speaking to CNN We have
strategic interests in South Asia that should not be measured in terms of finite times. We are going to
be in the region for a long time (Mazzetti, 2009).
c. Both Al Qaeda and the Bush administration pretended to speak on behalf of their respective
civilizations , but none could be considered as a core representative of the entire civilization to which
they belonged. For example,
After 9/11 Twin Tower attack,
i. The AQ was criticized by Saudi Arabia, Iran, Indonesia, Malaysia and Pakistan. Beside, on the night
of 9/11, Iranians gathered outside the US embassy to offer their sympathy toward the American people
(Shahi, 2017). ii. Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir bin Mohammad made it difficult for Malaysian
jihadists to travel to Afghanistan to fight alongside the Taliban and al Qaida (Shahi, 2017). iii.
President Pervez Musharraf of Pakistan criticized the terrorists for giving Islam a bad name. The
Organization of the Islamic Conference condemned Osama bin Laden s terrorism, but did not
condemn the US response (Gardels, 2001). iv. Most religious leaders in Islamic

and if all goes well, after the two year internship at the bank, I would love to get a full time offer by
the bank and become a financial analyst and stay in the same department. Working with the people in
my team is truly a great opportunity. The bank s culture is what I would want any institution s culture
to be. One aspect the bank seems to value and try their best to make as great as possible is the
diversity and inclusion of the employee s. It is a very diverse community and it makes me feel very
welcome. One other benefit if I were to be hired as full time is that if I want to pursue graduate school,
I would be reimbursed. At this moment, I know that I eventually want to go to graduate school and
pursue my masters, but I m not exactly sure if I want to get it right after I get my undergraduate degree

me more motivation to continue my education. My vision after I graduate is to become

Tony Kushner s Angels Of America
Tony Kushner s Angels in America and Mwaganu wa Kaggia s Not Ashamed but so Ashamed both
explicitly address the social, religious, and political stigma associated with HIV/AIDS and
homosexuality. The use of split scenes in Angels in America allows Kushner to demonstrate the
similar ways in which both Joe and Prior respond to alienation despite having distinct personal
conflicts. The two characters societal and personal dilemmas are most evidently intertwined in Act 2,
Scene 9 of the play. In a similar manner, by using repetition of the phrases I m HIV positive and I am
so ashamed , Kaggia s poem confronts the ironic notion that it is not the nature of illness that causes
suffering; rather it is the persistent stigmatization of HIV/AIDS that continuously impedes any attempt
to end this epidemic. The dramatic techniques shown in both texts are strategically used by the authors
to emphasize the influences that social, religious, and political stigmatization have on individuals with
HIV/AIDS and those openly disclosing their homosexuality.
Compared to other split scenes in Angels in America , Act 2, Scene 9 is furiously explosive as both Joe
and Prior simultaneously confront their partners with their personal dilemmas. During Joe s encounter
with Harper, he struggles to identify himself as a homosexual. Joe reveals lack of confidence in his
self identity when he says to Harper: You want the truth. This is the truth. I knew this when I married

The Top 5 Frequent Flyer Programs for International Travel
Picking the right frequent flyer programs for your international travel depends on the region, the
distance (short haul/long haul), and your own objectives. Are you looking to get status? Or do you
favor cheap redemptions?
Start by assessing your travel patterns and booking habits (deep discounted economy vs. full fare
economy or business/first), and reviewing both the redemption side as well as earning ability of
potential programs. Some programs however generally stand out by their number of partners, ease of
achieving elite status, and overall value. Here s a rundown.

United and Delta charge a premium for award travel on partner airlines (on which you eventually need
to rely at some point for international travel).
American has had really poor saver award availability recently, especially for international premium
classes, which means British Airways is often the only transatlantic award option. And it comes with a
hefty carrier surcharge.
There is however one substantial downside to MileagePlan. Since Alaska isn t a member of any airline
alliance, you usually won t get any elite benefits with their partners.
Air Canada Aeroplan Star Alliance
Aeroplan isn t as good as it used to be, but can still offer reasonably priced redemptions on excellent
carriers through the Star Alliance network e.g. 55,000 miles without fuel surcharges from the US to
Europe on Swiss.
I would not call Aeroplan the best Star Alliance program overall, but it is a pretty good value for most.
Elite status however is not especially easy to reach given the spending requirement, but it is a very
useful program for redemption.
You can transfer both American Express Membership Rewards and SPG points to Aeroplan at a 1:1
ratio.
British Airways Executive Club oneworld
Again, it depends on your travel patterns, but Executive Club is an exceedingly useful program for
specific flights. Availability is generally good, and status can be easy to achieve with some discounted
premium cabin travel bearing in mind that it would definitely involve

Rome s Influence On Italy And America
Due to Rome s great impact on the world, Rome is often thought of as a much bigger place than
simply just the capital of Italy. Let s Go Publication stated Rome. The city that ruled an empire. A
center for the Renaissance, the papacy, and the birthplace of Western civilization. (Let s Go
Publications, 484). This quote demonstrates just how impactful the city of Rome was on the world and
why Rome is thought of something much bigger than just a capital of a country. Rome was very
prevalent in biblical times because of how powerful the Roman Empire was during the time that the
bible was written. In 27 BC, the Roman Empire arose as a republic in Rome and was in power for
approximately 1,500 years. Despite the immense impact of Rome, Italy as ... Show more content on

influence on the culinary world (Abbott,1). The preceding quote explains how Italian food affected the

for its miraculous architecture, for instance: the Colosseum, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Florence

buildings use solid stone blocks if at all possible and finely dressed masonry is immediate indicator to
a building of wealth and high status (Claridge,39). Claridge s quote showed that architecture of
buildings and homes are highly important to the Italian people. Amanda Claridge also wrote that In

would life be if they came to Earth? H.G. Wells from The War of the Worlds and Ray Bradbury of
Zero Hour explore how these unusual appearances of these creatures changed everything about these
two characters lives.
In the book Zero Hour Mink seems to go through some challenges because of an alien named Drill .
Mink is a little girl, that had little clue of what she was getting herself into. They couldn t figure a way
to attack. Drill says in order to make a good fight you got to have a new way of surprising people. And
they couldn t figure a way to surprise Earth (Bradbury 250) Mink is explaining to her mother how
Drill will invade earth, how kids are their ticket to another planet that s not theirs. In The War of the

Young Godman Brown Principle Of Faith
Principle of Faith Young Godman Brown is a prime example of the dark romantism and illustrates in a
very straightforward way a principle of faith. Nathaniel Hawthorne was an American novelist of the
beginning of the 19th century. At one point in life, he discovered the true about his father he thought to
be deeply religious man of pure heart. John Hathorne was not only a judge involved in witch trial he
also never repented for his actions. His novel Young Godman Brown is clearly a deeply personal
reaction to this revelation. Godman is an ordinary man, same as every other American, leading a
rightful life that would get him to heaven. He is married to a woman aptly named Faith that represents
not only purity of his whole world but also his way to heaven, his belief in the goodness in everyone
and the faith itself. It s almost night and Godman sets to a mysterious journey, leaving his wife alone
for an unknown, important but evil errand. The distance between Young Godman and faith, both
literally and figuratively, grows with every line. It starts with his wife s nightmare: as if a dream had
warned her what work is to be done tonight and her fears, continue with a parting kiss and a longing,
worried gaze. So while Godman remains clueless, it is becoming more and more clear, where the book
is heading and will eventually end. From the moment of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

This is an extraordinary story that gives us a boy s view of a truly traumatic experience. Using
Freudian theory to analyze Life of Pi we can get a deeper understanding of his story. According to
Freudian theory everyone s personality is a combination of three parts. The superego, Id, and ego.

The Success Of Primerica Financial Service
Primerica
We can learn a lot by analyzing, evaluating, discussing, and exploring the methods of high level
companies and their strategy to reach success. Primerica Financial Service is a company that provides
life insurance and investments that help and serve the middle income costumer with the best life
insurance. They called it term life insurance. Primerica has a different approach compared to other
companies; they want to offer the best life insurance to the costumer. Primerica s main goal is to help
other people. It is important to evaluate our own companies without bias and determinate ourselves to
reach excellence.
As a costumer, agent, and assistance manager, I can evaluate Primerica from many different
perspectives. Besides I have also worked in the company called Transamerica, rivalry of Primerica but
they are both very similar in structure.
One of the key points that we have to understand is that the majority of clients of Primerica are middle
income costumers. This means the majority of people don t have a financial knowledge and they don t
have a culture of life insurance habits. Another key point is that agents in Primerica have to have a
license to be able to work as financial advisors, but the majority of them never went to the university
to get some level of financial knowledge.
Primerica is an organization with a MLM (multilevel marketing) strategy. This keeps their employees
motivated and gives them the opportunity to manage their own success. Instead

Tora Tor Tora Research Paper
Tora Tora Tora is a Japanese movie that portrays their side of things in World War II. The title, Tora
Tora Tora, was the Japanese codeword used to show that complete surprise had been achieved. In
August 1939, a US trade embargo was depriving Japan of raw materials. The Japanese were preparing
for war by forming an alliance with Germany and Italy. The Japanese Commander in Chief ordered
the planning of a surprise attack on the U.S. anchored fleet at Pearl Harbor. Meanwhile the U.S. had
managed to break the Japanese code and secret messages. These messages indicated increased naval
activity. This led to an increase in U.S. navy patrols. As months passed, tensions increased. On the day
of the attack, the U.S. decoded a message that talked ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With Tora Tora Tora being a Japanese movie, we all had to read subtitles. After a while of reading
subtitles it got boring. Pearl Harbor also had more of a storyline to it. Not only did it have romance in
it, which I enjoyed besides Evelyn doing Rafe wrong and going after his best friend, it also had action
it. The actual bombing scene was interesting to watch. Yes, at times it was gruesome, but it kept you
interested. I feel that the romance helped make the movie as good as it was. The romance took away
from some of the gruesome parts of the movie and helped lighten the mood. The only bad thing about
Pearl Harbor, in my opinion, was that Evelyn and Danny did Rafe wrong. If you love somebody you
don t go after their best friend as soon as you find out they are dead. Danny also disrespected bro code
and went after his best friend s girl. But, Pearl Harbor overall was just a better movie than Tora Tora

They say if a frog is initially placed in boiling water, it will jump out. But if the temperature is
gradually brought to a boiling point, the frog will stay and be cooked alive. The same principle might
be applied to societal invasion today. Why destroy a nation or a culture in one massive attack? Would
the results of such a bold move outweigh its costs? Would opposition to such a movement not be swift
and without mercy? Or, rather, why not slowly permeate a culture from the inside out, cranking up
tensions ever so slightly, just enough to assert authority, but not enough to set off too many warning
bells. Why not saturate a society so wholly its people do not recognize the problem until it s too late?

When their appeals to their constituents are based almost solely on emotion, will emotional arguments
in turn sway them? What about the migrant who said, It s not as wrong raping a Swedish girl as raping
an Arab girl (Steen)? Will they consider the migrants who leave Germany and vacation in the
countries they fled from? What about the refugee who raped a mentally ill fifteen year old Swedish
girl in her psych ward? Or perhaps the mentally ill aren t important enough. Will the brutal murder
(involving wrapping a dead snake around the man s neck and tying him up) of a gay man in Göteborg,
Sweden, by two Moroccan migrants be severe enough for LGBT rights activists to protest? Or maybe
the Jewish girl in Sweden who was raped at age twelve, then stalked and harassed (emotionally,

as a result had to escape to Norway because local authorities would not punish the migrants in the

Character Recognition By Machines, An Innovative Way By...
Abstract Character Recognition by machines is an innovative way by which the dependence on
manpower is reduced. Character recognition provides a reliable alternative of converting manual text
into digitized format. Now a days, as technology becomes integral part of human life, many
applications have enabled the incorporation of English OCR for real time inputs. The advantages that
the English alphabet has is its simplicity offered by less number of letters i.e. 26 and easier
classification due to the concept of lowercase and uppercase. If we consider Devnagari script in this
scenario, we will come across myriad hurdles because this script lacks the simplicity of English. The
concept of fused letters, modifiers, shirorekha and spitting similarities in some letters make
recognition difficult. Also, character recognition for handwritten text is far more complex than that for
machine printed characters. This is because of the versatility and different writing techniques adopted
by people. The direction of strokes, pressure applied on writing equipments, quality of writing
equipment and the mentality of the writer itself highly affects the written text. These problems when
combined with the intricate details of Devnagari script, the complications in constructing a HCR of
this script are increased. The proposed system focuses on these two issues by adopting Hough
transform for detecting features from lines and curves. Further, for classification, SVM is used. These
two methods

Hip Hop Influence
Hip hop, as well as other types of music, undoubtedly has an effect on people, whether it is from the

specifically, I am interested in how modern hip hop effects the academics as a student overall, and
their own opinion of this influence. Not only am I trying to measure the influence of hip hop, but also
whether or not this influence is positive or negative. It is worth mentioning that I am not presently a

In any group, people either listen to hip hop, and enjoy it for what it is, or people do not and assume
negative connotations about it because of the stigma associated with it. This is due to the media s
influence on music as well as the influence of politics on music. It is important to mention that there
has also been a divide drawn between different types of hip hop due to these influences. These two
types have been labeled as conscious rap and gangster rap . Conscious rap is said to be more socially
conscious and to have addressed issues present today, whereas gangster rap is said to contain themes
and lyrics that generally emphasize the gangsta lifestyle. For this paper, I will not differentiate
between the two because while one type of music may be more influential than another, it would not
be fair to assume this based on popular opinions. This influence means that it will hard to gauge the
actual influence of hip hop on the academics of a student because there is a bias one way or another

Beethoven s 9th Symphony Analysis
This production of Beethoven s 9th Symphony was presented by the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra in
conjunction with The Lubbock Chorale and The Texas Tech University Choir. The performance was
held in the Lubbock Civic Center Theatre on October 13th and 14th at 7:30p.m. As a performer in the
University Choir, I was required to attend and perform both nights which allowed me the opportunity
to observe two different audiences. The audience on the night of the 13th was obviously better
prepared to handle such a long and mercurial major work. This was evident in the audience s reactions
to the ends of movements. The long standing and unwritten rule of waiting until the end of a major
work to clap was followed silently and diligently. This audience was mostly made up of adults
obviously over the age of fifty that are regular attendees and patrons of the Lubbock Symphony
Orchestra. Following thereafter in group size were the students, specifically Texas Tech and
surrounding area high school students. At this performance the amount of attending children was few
to none, as I could not see or hear any. The second audience mimicked the preceding audience in size
and age, however, this audience s reaction of clapping at the end of movements was highly undesired
by the performers, Maestro Cho, and the remaining members of the audience that understand the
unwritten rules of attending these types of concerts.
These types of reactions by inexperienced audiences make listening to or concentrating on great
performances of beautiful music very difficult. Not only do these translate to distractions for the
performers, but applause betwixt the movements can interrupt the flow of the work and thwart the
intended effect that the composer and conductor wish to have on the audience. This audience reaction
can also take away and distract from the atmosphere of the performance, which, in this case was a
relatively small and intimate concert hall.
Because this concert was only a performance of Beethoven s 9th Symphony, I will react to movements
two and four, the Scherzo and Recitative respectively. The Scherzo (second) movement was
characterized by Beethoven s ability to keep the constant presto eighth note motive throughout the

Sketches By Boz – Passage.Charles Dickens’ Language In
Sketches by Boz Passage Charles Dickens language in the passage suggests gloominess the motif of
darkness is present throughout. The use of words, such as cold, solitary, lifeless gives the scene a
sense of degradation and morbidity. He does this in order to give his audience a sense of what it would
be like to live as a working class person at that time and thereby establish the atmosphere,
foreshadowing the expansion of the subject matter that Dickens held a vested interest in class. The
word solitary along with the others such as quiet and closely shut building , forms a semantic field of
abandonment and desolation through which Dickens accuses the Establishment (the Government) of
essentially neglecting its citizens by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He voices his support for these side lined people of society by presenting their situation
euphemistically understating their circumstances via the word unfortunate . The sympathetic tone in
the word denies the idea that the poor are entirely at fault for their situation (which was a widely held
belief at the time of the Middle and Upper classes). Dickens purposefully emphasises the idea of
understanding and not the renunciation that was common. Having grown up in a working class
environment, he had first hand experience of the penury and hardship that they endured. The rich and
Middle Classes believed that the poor were at fault for their problems that they did not follow the
Christian way of life and deserved to be poor. Dickens was trying to reverse this widespread opinion.
Dickens presents the stigmatic problems of anything that could be seen as un Christian , such as
alcohol, prostitution, idleness , thereby vagrancy all often classed as immorality , of which many are
suggested in the passage and attributed to the poor. But while doing this he also challenges the view
that the poor are solely at fault; his blatantly satirical description of the incompetency and idleness of
the police, force who gaze listlessly is a disdainful reveal of public attitudes towards them. This is
perhaps a consequence of the low pay in the profession s early days, where the passage is set. The
police had been set up for some time and were not yet considered

Southwest Airlines And The Airline Industry
Southwest Airlines, a cost leader in the airline industry, was faced with an important decision on
whether or not to enter LaGuardia Airport s expensive, heavily regulated and congested market. How
does a leader airline in discount airfare, continue to expand into high traffic markets without
compromising its core strategies and disrupting its existing network?
Founded in 1967, Southwest entered the airline industry at a time when interstate travel was heavily
regulated by the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB).10 Some of those regulations imposed by CAB
include: airlines were not allowed to discount fares even when their planes were at half capacity,
airlines were not able to add new routes or remove old routes, and new carriers were not allowed to
enter the interstate airline travel.10
Due to these regulations on the interstate market and seeing the success of intrastate carriers, such as
Pan Southwest Airlines (PSA) and Air Cal, Southwest entered the intrastate market where CAB
regulations did not apply.[10] [1] Southwest knew from early on that it had to provide considerably
lower fares to stave off the competition from other airlines and was planning to charge fares that were
at least 60% lower than the average coach fare .1 From the words of Colleen Barrett, We knew that we
were going to have to have substantially lower fares on day one of our operation than were currently
being charged because that was our only chance of winning a niche in the business .1

Rainbow Six By Tom Clancy, And Rainbow Six, By Dmitry...
For many, high school is the last time one spends any large portion of time reading, discussing and
analyzing novels. This means that this is the last chance for these students to develop important
literacy skills. While literacy skills such as reading critically are important, the Ontario Ministry of
Education clarifies that Literacy is about more than reading or writing it is about how we
communicate in society. It is about social practices and relationships, about knowledge, language and
culture, (Ontario Ministry of Education 3). The novels read in school form a big part of learning about
these topics and developing compassion and understanding across society and therefore, should be
chosen carefully to maximize the development of students as citizens of the world. Rainbow Six by
Tom Clancy and Metro 2033 by Dmitry Glukhovsky should not be taught in schools because they
demonstrate values which do not promote cultural tolerance. They demonstrate negative attitudes
toward the marginalized communities, glamorize gun use and focus only on a man s view of the
world.
Rainbow Six follows a newly instated international terrorist fighting team called Rainbow. The two

Compare And Contrast Virginia And Plymouth Plantation
History of virginia and plymouth plantation Both these stories explain about how two men were on the

Brad Ford. They each had their differences and similarities. Captain John Smith was on his way to the
new world in 1607, where he then had an encounter with some native americans where he explains
how they held him captive for up to 6 or 7 weeks. Since Capt. John Smith writes in third person he
refers to himself a lot, when talking about the native americans he refers to them as barbarians and

The Use Of Nanopolymers For Biomedical Purposes
Statement of the problem:
The driving forces behind this work are related to the increased use of nanopolymers for biomedical
purposes. Charged and neutral polymers are routinely used for gene and drug delivery. However,
limited studies are performed to test their safety. Therefore, the originality of this work lies in its
attempt to evaluate the toxicity of three widely used polymers for delivery of chemotherapeutic
agents. Furthermore, we aim to establish efficient methods for nanotoxicity testing through comparing
the results of three different models ( 2D, 3D invitro cell cultures and invivo zebrafish
embryo)preparing these materials for clinical application.
Abstract
Nanomaterials exhibit a wide range of applications in different aspects of human life . In biomedical
fields, nanoparticles are packaged into different nanocarriers for drug and gene delivery especially for
improving the delivery of chemotherapeutic agents to tumors. However, no sufficient data that detect
their toxicity. In the present study, the toxicity of three different polymers that represent promising
drug carriers will be evaluated using 2D, 3D cell cultures and zebrafish embryos. The polymers to be
studie include the well known cationic transfection agents Poly(ethylenimine) (PEI) and poly(ethylene
glycol) (PEG) for their established cytotoxicity as well as the uncharged drug carrier material pHPMA

Understanding Schizophrenia From The Mind Of A Mental...
Understanding Schizophrenia from the Mind of a Mental Health Victim Themselves
With basic information on what this mental illness is, to understand Schizophrenia further, research
into personal encounters became apparent. After looking into the mind of Ian Chovil who was a victim
of the mental health disease and finding his accounts very eccentric it is clear that this is something
that could quite possibly affect the brains of the people that commit serious crimes in regards to the
Media. Ian says in his story a few things which connect this type of mental health to violent obscure
behaviour. He says he had delusions right from the start which after reading his story states,
progressed from visions of famous persons trying to force him to commit suicide right to the later
stages of his schizophrenia where he says he got a lot of messages from favourite Rock and Rolla
songs, movies, cartoons and library books. Ian doesn t say these forms of media forced him to murder
innocent people but it does provide evidence that he received messages. These messages in the mind
of another schizophrenic could lead to serious acts of violence which leads onto the next part of his
story where he mentions how his delusions changed as aliens instructed him on the real nature of
reality then three things happened as contact with reality became very tenuous, he got into trouble
with the law, became an alcoholic and lost his job. He is now taking instructions from a part of his

Buck Vs Bell Case Study
Buck vs. Bell
During the twentieth century, the United States Supreme Court passed laws that sparked a time where
grotesque discrimination and outright injustice towards all races and gender ran amuck. The United
States Supreme court supported a claim that those who were deemed feebleminded were a hazard to
society, and to protect the nation s gene pool by keeping the lesser classes from reproducing, they
needed to be sterilized. Carrie Buck, notoriously known for her Case against the supreme court shows
an unquestionable detail just how deplorable such a government was. In this essay I will illustrate the
different types of ethical principles and how they were violated in the 1927 case of Buck vs. Bell.
In the early 1900 s Industrialization boosted the economy, giving rise to capitalism and gave the upper
hand to monopolized corporations. As stated by David Oshinsky, in Imbeciles and Illiberal Reformers

Marine Corps Leadership Threats
Irregular warfare comes with irregular threats, and irregular threats must be approached with irregular
thinking. The Marine Corps Leadership Traits are the qualities that every Marine should consider
while engaging irregular threats, and are an integral part of leadership as a whole, because they make
up the basic foundation that our institution is built upon.
The three leadership traits that I feel are most important when operating against irregular threats are
Judgment, Initiative, and Courage, both moral and physical. These characteristics are fundamental to
not only an individual s success, but the success of the team. They are the blueprint that drives the
Marine Corps and its mission. The development of these traits can occur through ... Show more

Courage is broken into two categories; moral and physical. Moral courage is having the ability to
stand up for a defend what is right. Moral courage in an irregular environment can be having the
ability to differentiate between what is wrong, or right, such as when capturing an enemy prisoner.
You must have the understanding and strength to treat the prisoner with humility, rather than letting
your frustration and anger fog your ability to do what is right, and what you are bound by law to do.
While moral courage can be something that is instilled from childhood, the strength to see it through
in the worst of times will ultimately define your character. Physical courage is having the strength to
act when the presence of danger, or physical harm presents itself. The ability to continue with the task,
with the understanding that you may be injured, or killed, is one of the greatest forms of courage.
There are many scenarios to describe examples of having physical courage, and it may not be able to
be developed prior to actually testing yourself.
However, if you go into the any scenario with an understanding of your purpose and

Choices, Choices And Choices
Choices. Choices by definition is the act of selecting or making a decision when faced with two or
more possibilities. Choices are part of basic life. I chose to write this so I can have the chance to go to
college. The administration chose to read this, in hope of finding the perfect applicant for their
college. The administration can now either choice to read this or toss it away, the choice is theirs. But
in life, there s two main choices in my opinion. The quick and almost sudden choices that don t have
long time value, the choices that you have to back up with a series of other choices. The other type of
choices are long term choices. The choices that can make or break any situation. The choices that will

me thought that he would actually do it.
I don t remember what happened right after clearly. I know my mother came home and the yelling and
threats between my father and my brother was paused. A wave of relief went over me, finally a time to
collect what was going around. That short time of calmness was too good to be true because in the
span of twenty minutes, the yelling started again, but this time, my mother joined. It wasn t as bad, but
hearing my brother yell profanities at my mother, the woman that raised us, it baffled me. My mother

agonising groan filled with pain and disappointment. My brother did it. My brother took out a

Arguments Against Legalizing Prostitution
Prostitution is an age old profession, and has been referred to as the oldest profession known to man.
According to alternet.org, there was a time when prostitution was fine and legal. In fact, prostitutes
help settle early American settlements. Where ever you had men that were settling the West, you had
prostitutes. The practice had become so big in the United States that women would often migrate from
other countries to be a part of the profession (AlterNet). But now many people often look at
prostitution as a degrading practice for women. Most opinions formed about prostitution are due to
religious beliefs and personal opinions from incorrect information. Despite the act being illegal, it is
still practiced all over the United States, resulting in multiple issues, such as STDs, arrests, and

majority of prostitutes does not have reliable health care, and therefore, cannot afford weekly STD

People think that prostitution is one of the major causes of STD spread. According, to the Prostitutes

Mythology In Fan Mythology
The definition of the term Myth is that it is defined by its content, context, and/or its function. Most
often when we think or hear the world myth we think of ancient Greek and Roman stories that tell us
tales of gods, heroes, and monsters; in the modern world it is also used to butter up advertisements,
and of course in fan fiction.
When you look at the concept of myth it has been important to the practice and analysis of fan work,
including fan fiction, on three levels: content, form, and theory. In terms of content, traditional tales
including mythologies provide us with characters, narratives, monsters, and story worlds for fans to
use in the generation of new fictions, as proven by the 2,173 stories in the Greek and Roman

Instead, mass culture is a method of cultural control, a key part of the workings of capitalist
domination.
However, there is a strong distinction between mass and popular culture that seems to be no longer
defensible to most media scholars and cultural critics, studies of fan creations such as fanfiction have
shown us just how entwined certain popular forms are with mass culture. Describing the texts of
popular culture as myths then becomes a way of claiming profitable culture as common culture and
the basis for a genuine fan culture that exists outside capitalist networks of production, distribution,
and consumption.
Of the 2,173 fics on AO3, around half remain within the Greek mythic historical story world: such fics

as the popular Persephone/Hades, to the obscure, Helenus/Neoptolemus. The most common kind of
story that can be found here is a retelling of a myth that fleshes out the description of the classical
gods and heroes according to modern fictional and psychological norms. There are two main kinds of
modern retelling fanfictions on the AO3 site. The first being stories about how the ancient gods and
heroes have survived the modern world, and second, being crossover fics. In certain crossovers, the

Summary Of The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button
Set apart from the parameters of normal human society, Benjamin Button, a man who was born to age
backwards, falls in love with a young girl, Daisy, who ages forwards. Benjamin s story is read aloud to
Daisy by Caroline, her daughter, as she lay on her deathbed. In scenes set with peculiar curiosity and
subtle fantasy, Benjamin embarks on an unusual journey to grasp the meaning of life and find his own
sense of identity. Benjamin and Daisy s paths cross many times before their unorthodox romance
reaches fate and picks up in the middle. As he grows younger and Daisy slows with age, Benjamin
discovers the rich futility of love as time causes the two to fall out of sync once again. Although its
final plot ends like any other love story, David Fincher s The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is
arguably the next great cinematic breakthrough with its unique emotional paradoxes, ingenuitive
digital effects, and complex subplots. This movie was challenging to evaluate because never before
has a film combined subplot ingenuity so seamlessly with the delicate techniques of innovative film
making and traditional cinematic endings. One of the most relevant criteria of the film is the presence
of unique emotional paradoxes. The lead character Benjamin Button, actor Brad Pitt, faces many
unique emotional obstacles as he ages completely opposite of the world around him. When he is a
young boy, Button takes on the appearance of an eighty year old man in a wheelchair unable to walk.

The Contrasting Changes Of Macbeth And Banquo
The Contrasting Changes of Macbeth and Banquo
In Shakespeare s tragedy Macbeth, the decisions of Banquo and Macbeth following the exposure to
their future show how the two character follow their own moral code and order in which Banquo acts
by his moral order and loyalty, while Macbeth deviates from what is naturally and morally correct,
through the ruthless deception of killing the King. The two characters are compared through two
passages that use literary devices and techniques such as: symbol, synecdoche, Foil , foreshadow,
visual imagery, tone and motif to convey the statement that as ones ambitions grows rapidly, so does
the necessity to become more avarice for power and dominant over others.

However, Banquo s disclosure with his future does not inspire his greed for power due to his faith in
the king. In the phrase It should not stand in thy posterity Banquo uses personification to show that his
future is not alterable by anything as said in the phrase stand the author implies that no actions could
change the prophecy and that Banquo is indifferent to the domination of power that does not belong to
him. In contrary, the idea of domination and avarice for power is exploited by Macbeth through
metaphor in the phrase that is a step On which I must fall down, or else o erleap, For in my way it lies.
This phrase compares defeating or dominating the Prince through the use of step On and O erleap to
show Macbeth s will to gain control over others and that Macbeth believes that since he was
pronounced king of Cawdor he can manipulate his fate. Banquo, on the other hand, shows his ability
to stay in a his moral order and exempt himself from avarice though the way he does not rely on the
prophecy as seen in the Banquo uses tone in the phrase (III:i:9)May they not be my oracles as well,
and set me up in hope? But hush! No more. ENTER MACBETH, as king . The use of tone the phrase
But hush! No more. Shows Banquo s hesitance to bring upheaval towards Macbeth who is now the
king. This shows that Banquo s moral order causes him to be the unquestionable subject of the new
king, Macbeth. Conversely, Macbeth acts as a foil character to Banquo through symbol in the phrase

The Struggle Of Democratic Peace
Although countries in South America are not democratic for most of the last century, it has the fewest
inter state wars there, which can be explained by geopolitics with balance of power, the trade off
between benefits and costs, and relations among countries in this area.
According to the theory of Democratic Peace, since democratic leaders have a larger wining
coalitions, in order to keep in office, they need to gain support from selectorate, and democratic
leaders facing with war are more inclined to shift extra resources into the war effort than are autocrats
. In addition to trying harder, democrats are more selective in their choice of targets and democrats
only initiate wars they expect to win. As a generalization, it is an empirical law that democracies do
not fight wars with one another . On the contrary, with a small winning coalition, non democrats
leaders are facing less risk of being deposed than are their democratic counterparts , therefore, they are
not constrained by the selectorate and they are inclined to choose war when the expected benefit is
larger than the cost of conflict, or larger than the benefit from negotiation. This may lead to the
conclusion that non democrats are more likely to have conflicts with other countries.
However, when we look at South America, despite the differences between some of the continent s
countries, it has not experienced full scale interstate warfare in over 80 years . This is puzzling, since

My First Experience At Bridgetown Church
My first experience at Bridgetown church was very long overdue and very interesting. Most all of my
friends and family all have been inviting me to Bridgetown specifically because they all really enjoy a
specific pastor there that speaks on Sunday services. I never saw the need to go, mainly because of my
night shifts are scheduled so oddly I was afraid of falling asleep at a religious sermon that I was not
interested in embarrassing myself at and also not wanting to go out of my way to attend something
that I was not particularly interested in. Bluntly writing I did not want to waste my time to go to

The Transformation Of The Mongol Empire
The Mongol empire was one of the most dictatorial, formidable, and efficacious empires to ever
gallop across this earth. They were revolutionaries of there time. There military tactics, horsemanship,
and leadership system all helped cultivate an immense powerhouse that wreaked havoc on anyone
standing in their path. However it was there governance and leadership of these conquered these lands
that was most stunning and lasting.
The Mongol people started out as separated factions that were no more than a few hundred men. There
were bitter rivalries and animosity between tribes and long power struggle for control of the Steppe.
However it was not to stay this way for long. Born in 1162, Temujin, or more formally known as
Genghis Khan was summoned upon this earth. From an early age he was destined to become
something special. As all boys at this time, he was groomed to learn how to fight, kill, and defend his
tribe from other castes. You would assume that Genghis would have had a deep rooted hatred towards
the other nomads. However Temujin saw these nomadic people of the Steepes and he knew he could
unite them. In reality, however, the tribe was a rather open institution, its membership created more by
shared political interests than by descent from a common ancestor. It is the only way that is possible to
explain the fact that Chingiz Khan was able to organize the nomads of Central Asia. (Morgan, 2007)

These problems with people and the suppression of freedom were not confined to the frontier but the
south and north as well.
In the south, African Americans were technically free but the 1896 case of Plessey vs. Ferguson
established legal segregation. Worse than segregation were the lynchings. In 1898, Ida B. Wells
Barnett wrote, Mr. President , the colored citizens of this country in general, and Chicago in particular,

north was plagued with discrimination against Slavic and Italian immigrants. While American born
citizens moved into management and skilled labor jobs new immigrants were given less skilled work
many times based on discrimination rather than qualifications.
Both the racism already prevalent in American and nationalism led America to not only seeking to

this custody thing is sorted out, and hopefully make new friends and enjoy the school. In short, I had a

The Legacy Of Martin Luther
Martin Luther was a big deal in history. He had a big part in the reformation. Priests would take your
money by telling you that you could get rid of your sin if you paid them. Martin knew that it was all a
scam. He started going up against the priests, and telling the people that it was a scam. You could ask
for forgiveness from God on your own for free. He fought for what he believed, and he made a good
impact in history. Luther was a born in a peasant family. His father worked hard to keep food on the
table, and keep his family happy. Martin was born on November 10, 1483 in Saxony, Germany. He
died on February 18, 1546 in Saxony Germany. He was a German reformer, which is a person who
works to change old practices, and beliefs. He became a lawyer to increase his family s success.
Martin got a bachelor of arts degree in 1502, and a matter of arts in 1505. In the same year he enrolled
into the instructors of law, giving martin a great look as to being a successful, and smart man. Martin
changed from being a lawyer to getting into religion when a bad thunderstorm happened. He screamed
out to the mother of virgin mary pleading for her to save him. Martin promised her that he would
become a monk if she saved his life, and she saved his life. He had troubles becoming a monk,
because he was letting down his parents, but he kept his promise to God. His counselor told him he
should get a stronger connection between himself, and God. Later on he started to lecture and write in

Observing Ryan for 20 mins at 9 months you can tell Ryan has developed many skills such as motor
skills, language skills, and also social/emotional skills. While observing Ryan I observed he has the
ability to sit up on his own to either play with his toys or begin to crawl from one place to another to
explore around the living room, roll over on his own from stomach to back to drink his bottle of milk
and vise versa back to stomach to begin to crawl, uses his weight on his legs to get off the floor and

Most obviously , wasting their precious time and energy. This may cause the decline in students
enthusiasm for learning, and inattention. Final result is the students poor academic performance.
Sometimes shopping online can trick students eyes. Some sellers will take pictures of the items fully
landscaped , in fact , the goods are as not good as they can see in quality. Once some careless students
see the style they like, they will not hesitate to buy. They never pay more attention to the quality and

The Importance Of Cheating In My Life
In the real world cheaters do prosper, and no one seems to care I do. Although people succeed every
day by bending or breaking the rules, that does not make it a valuable victory. The sad fact is that
sometimes cheaters do prosper. Cheating is the new norm in many facets of our lives, from sports to
taxes. People who are good at cheating gain prestige and respect for working smarter not harder, but
that is immoral and a fallacy. Cheaters devalue the efforts of those who came before and those who
will follow them in any particular field. Particularly, it reverberates through sports and my goal is to
be a paragon of good sportsmanship and not cheat. The most important moral principal in my life to
win through hard work and effort ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I would do it through hard work, perseverance, intestinal fortitude, and, above all else, good clean
sportsmanship. When you cheat, you are really only cheating yourself. Adjusting a clock, taking a
shortcut, or using illegal equipment will all catch up with you. You will not only lose any honor your
victories brought, but you will lose face and trust from your fellow competitors. Respect among
competitors is paramount. Whether they are top tier or below average is not important. In a recent
example at the World Championships, a runner won a distance race by a large margin and,
immediately, there were suspicions of performance enhancing drug use. The suspicions did not come
from the public but from coaches and other athletes that know the investment required for a certain
outcome. Yet, the runner did not seem to have a record of expected work. What is important is that
competitors come to the field and offer their best personal effort to put it against everyone. There is no
disgrace in losing to a superior athlete because you should never stop trying to improve yourself
through such challenges. You should not take much pride in defeating a weaker opponent. They are
likely trying hard to improve themselves as much as you are. This is a trust and unspoken pact among
athletes. When someone cheats, they

The Culture Of Asian American And Being Labeled As An Ethnic
Preface
In this essay, I attempted to lay bare the issues of being an Asian American and being labeled as an
ethnic other in modern America. This label of other causes them to become marginalized and lose
their sense of identity, belonging neither to Western culture nor Eastern culture. In order help stop this
loss of identity in Asian Americans, we must tear down the social construct of the other and integrate
the different cultures into the melting pot of popular culture. Once we have stopped alienating
different cultures, we can then have a moral society that upholds diversity and identity.
The Struggles of the Other
The apparent dominance of White Europeans in America results in a common set of values, beliefs,
and norms that are endorsed by Whites, leading to an America whose vision is filtered through the
lens of the White European perspective. This established vision and power creates the social construct
of the ethnic other. As an ethnic other in America, my analysis incorporates my personal experiences
and the experiences of those around me. In a nation that has a population so diverse in personal and
collective identities, problems regarding morality and culture can arise. In the America of the past and
present, the norm by which all are measured against is that of a heterosexual White European. This
norm creates a conflict with the marginalized groups who wish to gain acceptance by and into the
dominant culture, but are not allowed to do so due to their

Research Paper On Freshwater Invertebrates
While most people thinking of invertebrates for the aquarium are thinking of marine invertebrates,
there are a surprising number of freshwater invertebrates that make excellent tank inhabitants. Many
freshwater invertebrates do not require large amounts of space, making them ideal for Nano tanks or
even goldfish bowls. Some eat algae or uneaten fish food, while others are stunningly beautiful.
Sometimes such useful attributes even belong to the same creature. However, freshwater invertebrates
don t always have the same requirements as fish and the requirements differ considerably between
different species.
Freshwater Shrimp
Freshwater shrimp are probably the most decorative freshwater invertebrates. There are many species,
each with its own color pattern and mode of life. As most species are small, they do not require much
space. Freshwater shrimp are harassed or eaten by many fish species so tank mates must be considered
carefully. I tried keeping Cherry Shrimp with a Pygmy Gourami and regretted the decision. The
Gourami harassed my shrimp and probably caused the death of two of the five. Endler s Livebearers,
however, coexisted peacefully with the shrimp.
Different species have different temperature and pH tolerances, but some of them, like the Amano
shrimp, tolerate cool water very well. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means they need a filter or at least an air stone. They are are best kept one to a tank as they are
likely to fight with each other. Crayfish are larger than most of the other invertebrates we are
discussing here and large adults will need considerable space. Ten gallons is enough for an adult of
most of the North American species, but some of the Australian species can reach 16 inches and would
need a 30 50 gallon tank. There are a few dwarf species such as the Dwarf Cajun Crayfish,
Cambarellus schufeldtii, that can be kept in a smaller tank or in a group in a 10 gallon tank if there are
enough hiding

The Militarization Of Officer Joe Cartoon Analysis
Instructor Lyndsay Al Shibli
English 111
September 14, 2016
The Militarization of Officer Joe What comes to mind when hearing the word cops? Some may think
safety, others may think violence. It appears that there may be more answers than we first thought. In
the cartoon titled The Militarization of Officer Joe , by MAD Magazine, the topic of police procedures
in early 21 century America is introduced. The cartoon titled The Runaway , published in 1958, was
created by artist Norman Rockwell, depicting his view on 20th Century America. Norman Rockwell
passed away in 1978. In the year 2014, MAD magazine created a new cartoon in the same setting, but
of a completely different view. Many elements of imagery are built into the cartoon, including
balance, symbolism, captions, and emotion. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the then side, the caption of the image reads 1958: The Runaway. After reading this I noticed a
small red sack placed under the boy next to the cop. This informs that the boy being spoken to by the
police officer, may in fact be a runaway. Still, the situation does not seem to raise much concern to the
author, or even the police officer in that matter. The focus seems to be on the boy, being that he is most
likely the runaway, and the police officer means to calmly convince him of changing his mind. On the
now side of the cartoon, the caption reads 2014 The Militarization Of Officer Joe. Even the title of this
image is violent. Dressed as though going into military combat, this caption suits the image very well.
The police officer poses a much greater threat to the boy next to him on the now side, compared to the
then side. The captions under each image help to provide a much greater understanding of the message
in this cartoon. While one caption seems to focus on the boy and his well being, the other caption
focuses on the cop, and the violence associated with

There are several factors that argues that relating global war on terrorism to clash of civilization is incorrect. For example, a. The Global war on Terror and Huntington s Clash of Civilization could not be engaged in the same position because the West especially the UK and the US and some other Muslim countries like Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Pakistan and Uzbekistan helped AQ when it was in war with the Soviet Union (Lansford, Watson and Covarrubias, 2009). So, according to Joseph Nye (2004: 17), the struggle against Islamist terrorism is not a clash of civilizations. In the same way, Ahmed S. • 4. Tony Kushner s Angels Of America Tony Kushner s Angels in America and Mwaganu wa Kaggia s Not Ashamed but so Ashamed both explicitly address the social, religious, and political stigma associated with HIV/AIDS and homosexuality. The use of split scenes in Angels in America allows Kushner to demonstrate the similar ways in which both Joe and Prior respond to alienation despite having distinct personal conflicts. The two characters societal and personal dilemmas are most evidently intertwined in Act 2, Scene 9 of the play. In a similar manner, by using repetition of the phrases I m HIV positive and I am so ashamed , Kaggia s poem confronts the ironic notion that it is not the nature of illness that causes suffering; rather it is the persistent stigmatization of HIV/AIDS that continuously impedes any attempt to end this epidemic. The dramatic techniques shown in both texts are strategically used by the authors to emphasize the influences that social, religious, and political stigmatization have on individuals with HIV/AIDS and those openly disclosing their homosexuality. Compared to other split scenes in Angels in America , Act 2, Scene 9 is furiously explosive as both Joe and Prior simultaneously confront their partners with their personal dilemmas. During Joe s encounter with Harper, he struggles to identify himself as a homosexual. Joe reveals lack of confidence in his self identity when he says to Harper: You want the truth. Air Canada Aeroplan Star Alliance Aeroplan isn t as good as it used to be, but can still offer reasonably priced redemptions on excellent carriers through the Star Alliance network e.g. 55,000 miles without fuel surcharges from the US to Europe on Swiss. I would not call Aeroplan the best Star Alliance program overall, but it is a pretty good value for most. Nathaniel Hawthorne was an American novelist of the beginning of the 19th century. At one point in life, he discovered the true about his father he thought to be deeply religious man of pure heart. John Hathorne was not only a judge involved in witch trial he also never repented for his actions. His novel Young Godman Brown is clearly a deeply personal reaction to this revelation. Godman is an ordinary man, same as every other American, leading a rightful life that would get him to heaven. He is married to a woman aptly named Faith that represents not only purity of his whole world but also his way to heaven, his belief in the goodness in everyone and the faith itself. It s almost night and Godman sets to a mysterious journey, leaving his wife alone for an unknown, important but evil errand. The distance between Young Godman and faith, both literally and figuratively, grows with every line. It starts with his wife s nightmare: as if a dream had warned her what work is to be done tonight and her fears, continue with a parting kiss and a longing, worried gaze. As a costumer, agent, and assistance manager, I can evaluate Primerica from many different perspectives. Besides I have also worked in the company called Transamerica, rivalry of Primerica but they are both very similar in structure. One of the key points that we have to understand is that the majority of clients of Primerica are middle income costumers. This means the majority of people don t have a financial knowledge and they don t have a culture of life insurance habits. Another key point is that agents in Primerica have to have a license to be able to work as financial advisors, but the majority of them never went to the university to get some level of financial knowledge. The title, Tora Tora Tora, was the Japanese codeword used to show that complete surprise had been achieved. In August 1939, a US trade embargo was depriving Japan of raw materials. The Japanese were preparing for war by forming an alliance with Germany and Italy. The Japanese Commander in Chief ordered the planning of a surprise attack on the U.S. anchored fleet at Pearl Harbor. Meanwhile the U.S. had managed to break the Japanese code and secret messages. Or, rather, why not slowly permeate a culture from the inside out, cranking up tensions ever so slightly, just enough to assert authority, but not enough to set off too many warning bells. • 15. Character Recognition By Machines, An Innovative Way By... Abstract Character Recognition by machines is an innovative way by which the dependence on manpower is reduced. Character recognition provides a reliable alternative of converting manual text into digitized format. Now a days, as technology becomes integral part of human life, many applications have enabled the incorporation of English OCR for real time inputs. The advantages that the English alphabet has is its simplicity offered by less number of letters i.e. 26 and easier classification due to the concept of lowercase and uppercase. If we consider Devnagari script in this scenario, we will come across myriad hurdles because this script lacks the simplicity of English. The concept of fused letters, modifiers, shirorekha and spitting similarities in some letters make recognition difficult. Also, character recognition for handwritten text is far more complex than that for machine printed characters. This is because of the versatility and different writing techniques adopted by people. The direction of strokes, pressure applied on writing equipments, quality of writing equipment and the mentality of the writer itself highly affects the written text. These problems when combined with the intricate details of Devnagari script, the complications in constructing a HCR of this script are increased. The proposed system focuses on these two issues by adopting Hough transform for detecting features from lines and curves. Further, for classification, SVM is used. These two methods ... Conscious rap is said to be more socially conscious and to have addressed issues present today, whereas gangster rap is said to contain themes and lyrics that generally emphasize the gangsta lifestyle. Beethoven s 9th Symphony Analysis This production of Beethoven s 9th Symphony was presented by the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra in conjunction with The Lubbock Chorale and The Texas Tech University Choir. The performance was held in the Lubbock Civic Center Theatre on October 13th and 14th at 7:30p.m. As a performer in the University Choir, I was required to attend and perform both nights which allowed me the opportunity to observe two different audiences. The audience on the night of the 13th was obviously better prepared to handle such a long and mercurial major work. This was evident in the audience s reactions to the ends of movements. The long standing and unwritten rule of waiting until the end of a major work to clap was followed silently and diligently. This audience was mostly made up of adults obviously over the age of fifty that are regular attendees and patrons of the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra. Following thereafter in group size were the students, specifically Texas Tech and surrounding area high school students. At this performance the amount of attending children was few to none, as I could not see or hear any. The second audience mimicked the preceding audience in size and age, however, this audience s reaction of clapping at the end of movements was highly undesired by the performers, Maestro Cho, and the remaining members of the audience that understand the unwritten rules of attending these types of concerts. These types of reactions by inexperienced audiences make listening to or concentrating on great performances of beautiful music very difficult. Not only do these translate to distractions for the performers, but applause betwixt the movements can interrupt the flow of the work and thwart the intended effect that the composer and conductor wish to have on the audience. This audience reaction can also take away and distract from the atmosphere of the performance, which, in this case was a relatively small and intimate concert hall. The use of words, such as cold, solitary, lifeless gives the scene a sense of degradation and morbidity. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He voices his support for these side lined people of society by presenting their situation euphemistically understating their circumstances via the word unfortunate . The sympathetic tone in the word denies the idea that the poor are entirely at fault for their situation (which was a widely held belief at the time of the Middle and Upper classes). Dickens purposefully emphasises the idea of understanding and not the renunciation that was common. Having grown up in a working class environment, he had first hand experience of the penury and hardship that they endured. The rich and Middle Classes believed that the poor were at fault for their problems that they did not follow the Christian way of life and deserved to be poor. Dickens was trying to reverse this widespread opinion. Dickens presents the stigmatic problems of anything that could be seen as un Christian , such as alcohol, prostitution, idleness , thereby vagrancy all often classed as immorality , of which many are suggested in the passage and attributed to the poor. But while doing this he also challenges the view that the poor are solely at fault; his blatantly satirical description of the incompetency and idleness of the police, force who gaze listlessly is a disdainful reveal of public attitudes towards them. This is perhaps a consequence of the low pay in the profession s early days, where the passage is set. The police had been set up for some time and were not yet considered ... Founded in 1967, Southwest entered the airline industry at a time when interstate travel was heavily regulated by the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB).10 Some of those regulations imposed by CAB include: airlines were not allowed to discount fares even when their planes were at half capacity, airlines were not able to add new routes or remove old routes, and new carriers were not allowed to enter the interstate airline travel.10 Due to these regulations on the interstate market and seeing the success of intrastate carriers, such as Pan Southwest Airlines (PSA) and Air Cal, Southwest entered the intrastate market where CAB regulations did not apply.[10] [1] Southwest knew from early on that it had to provide considerably lower fares to stave off the competition from other airlines and was planning to charge fares that were at least 60% lower than the average coach fare .1 From the words of Colleen Barrett, We knew that we were going to have to have substantially lower fares on day one of our operation than were currently being charged because that was our only chance of winning a niche in the business .1 Southwest not ... • 20. Rainbow Six By Tom Clancy, And Rainbow Six, By Dmitry... For many, high school is the last time one spends any large portion of time reading, discussing and analyzing novels. This means that this is the last chance for these students to develop important literacy skills. While literacy skills such as reading critically are important, the Ontario Ministry of Education clarifies that Literacy is about more than reading or writing it is about how we communicate in society. It is about social practices and relationships, about knowledge, language and culture, (Ontario Ministry of Education 3). The novels read in school form a big part of learning about these topics and developing compassion and understanding across society and therefore, should be chosen carefully to maximize the development of students as citizens of the world. Rainbow Six by Tom Clancy and Metro 2033 by Dmitry Glukhovsky should not be taught in schools because they demonstrate values which do not promote cultural tolerance. They demonstrate negative attitudes toward the marginalized communities, glamorize gun use and focus only on a man s view of the world. Rainbow Six follows a newly instated international terrorist fighting team called Rainbow. The two field teams that make up Rainbow are entirely made up of men. Their head is John Clark. They live with their families on a base that employs men and women in positions such as administration, utility repair and housekeeping. Along the way both these men were encountered with different kind of troubles. History of Virginia was written as a third person whereas to Plymouth Plantation was only written as one. The most important characters in these stories were Captain John Smith and William Brad Ford. They each had their differences and similarities. Captain John Smith was on his way to the new world in 1607, where he then had an encounter with some native americans where he explains how they held him captive for up to 6 or 7 weeks. Since Capt. • 22. The Use Of Nanopolymers For Biomedical Purposes Statement of the problem: The driving forces behind this work are related to the increased use of nanopolymers for biomedical purposes. Charged and neutral polymers are routinely used for gene and drug delivery. However, limited studies are performed to test their safety. Therefore, the originality of this work lies in its attempt to evaluate the toxicity of three widely used polymers for delivery of chemotherapeutic agents. Furthermore, we aim to establish efficient methods for nanotoxicity testing through comparing the results of three different models ( 2D, 3D invitro cell cultures and invivo zebrafish embryo)preparing these materials for clinical application. Abstract Nanomaterials exhibit a wide range of applications in different aspects of human life . In biomedical fields, nanoparticles are packaged into different nanocarriers for drug and gene delivery especially for improving the delivery of chemotherapeutic agents to tumors. However, no sufficient data that detect their toxicity. In the present study, the toxicity of three different polymers that represent promising drug carriers will be evaluated using 2D, 3D cell cultures and zebrafish embryos. The polymers to be studie include the well known cationic transfection agents Poly(ethylenimine) (PEI) and poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) for their established cytotoxicity as well as the uncharged drug carrier material pHPMA (i.e. poly(N 2 hydroxypropyl) methacrylamide), Poly(ethylene glycol) b poly(N (2 hydroxypropyl) ... Understanding Schizophrenia from the Mind of a Mental Health Victim Themselves With basic information on what this mental illness is, to understand Schizophrenia further, research into personal encounters became apparent. After looking into the mind of Ian Chovil who was a victim of the mental health disease and finding his accounts very eccentric it is clear that this is something that could quite possibly affect the brains of the people that commit serious crimes in regards to the Media. Ian says in his story a few things which connect this type of mental health to violent obscure behaviour. He says he had delusions right from the start which after reading his story states, progressed from visions of famous persons trying to force him to commit suicide right to the later stages of his schizophrenia where he says he got a lot of messages from favourite Rock and Rolla songs, movies, cartoons and library books. Ian doesn t say these forms of media forced him to murder innocent people but it does provide evidence that he received messages. These messages in the mind of another schizophrenic could lead to serious acts of violence which leads onto the next part of his story where he mentions how his delusions changed as aliens instructed him on the real nature of reality then three things happened as contact with reality became very tenuous, he got into trouble with the law, became an alcoholic and lost his job. The United States Supreme court supported a claim that those who were deemed feebleminded were a hazard to society, and to protect the nation s gene pool by keeping the lesser classes from reproducing, they needed to be sterilized. Carrie Buck, notoriously known for her Case against the supreme court shows an unquestionable detail just how deplorable such a government was. While American born citizens moved into management and skilled labor jobs new immigrants were given less skilled work many times based on discrimination rather than qualifications. Both the racism already prevalent in American and nationalism led America to not only seeking to expand in the west but overseas. As with Manifest Destiny Americans felt the obligation to right the wrongs of not just on this continent but in world and the western hemisphere in particular. • 41. Next Year Research Paper Well, well, well. Where do I even start? Grades I guess overall, I had a pretty good year, in terms of academics. I ve kept all As throughout the whole year, which in nice. I even got a perfect attendance award one time, (2nd Nine Weeks) which is shocking, because I get sick really easily, and i m pretty sure I was absent. Hey, i m in no position to complain. School is a relatively easy thing for me, grades, teachers, etc. Personally, I really enjoy school. It s something i m good at, and something that I can understand easily. My only problem is being surrounded by idiots who think they are entitled to more than the average student. Trips The school field trips are nice, even more so because of how small we are. It started with keeping a calendar to having sticky notes everywhere. It s a mess, but it works. And hey, my goal wasn t to be more organized. Next Year s Goals My goals for next year are simple: Get in shape, join ROTC, and make new friends at my new school. I ll be changing schools because Master Sergeant is moving his jib to McLain, and my mom is dating him so it s only natural i d go. The only goal i d have problems with would be making new friends, because by now everyone has their own clicks and circles. Conclusion In conclusion, my year was pretty good. I had fun on a few trips, I made excellent grades, and I sorted out some issues I had at home. I had a lot of great moments that meant a lot to me, like getting my dog and being with my friends and very few bad moments. I will be changing schools once this custody thing is sorted out, and hopefully make new friends and enjoy the school. In short, I had a pretty good year. That s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. The Legacy Of Martin Luther Martin Luther was a big deal in history. He had a big part in the reformation. Priests would take your money by telling you that you could get rid of your sin if you paid them. Martin knew that it was all a scam. He started going up against the priests, and telling the people that it was a scam. You could ask for forgiveness from God on your own for free. He fought for what he believed, and he made a good impact in history. Luther was a born in a peasant family. His father worked hard to keep food on the table, and keep his family happy. Martin was born on November 10, 1483 in Saxony, Germany. He died on February 18, 1546 in Saxony Germany. He was a German reformer, which is a person who works to change old practices, and beliefs. He became a lawyer to increase his family s success. Martin got a bachelor of arts degree in 1502, and a matter of arts in 1505. In the same year he enrolled into the instructors of law, giving martin a great look as to being a successful, and smart man. Martin changed from being a lawyer to getting into religion when a bad thunderstorm happened. He screamed out to the mother of virgin mary pleading for her to save him. Martin promised her that he would become a monk if she saved his life, and she saved his life. He had troubles becoming a monk, because he was letting down his parents, but he kept his promise to God. His counselor told him he should get a stronger connection between himself, and God. Later on he started to lecture and write in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. The Importance Of Cheating In My Life In the real world cheaters do prosper, and no one seems to care I do. Although people succeed every day by bending or breaking the rules, that does not make it a valuable victory. The sad fact is that sometimes cheaters do prosper. Cheating is the new norm in many facets of our lives, from sports to taxes. People who are good at cheating gain prestige and respect for working smarter not harder, but that is immoral and a fallacy. Cheaters devalue the efforts of those who came before and those who will follow them in any particular field. Particularly, it reverberates through sports and my goal is to be a paragon of good sportsmanship and not cheat. The most important moral principal in my life to win through hard work and effort ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I would do it through hard work, perseverance, intestinal fortitude, and, above all else, good clean sportsmanship. When you cheat, you are really only cheating yourself. Adjusting a clock, taking a shortcut, or using illegal equipment will all catch up with you. You will not only lose any honor your victories brought, but you will lose face and trust from your fellow competitors. Respect among competitors is paramount. Whether they are top tier or below average is not important. In a recent example at the World Championships, a runner won a distance race by a large margin and, immediately, there were suspicions of performance enhancing drug use. The suspicions did not come from the public but from coaches and other athletes that know the investment required for a certain outcome. Yet, the runner did not seem to have a record of expected work. What is important is that competitors come to the field and offer their best personal effort to put it against everyone. There is no disgrace in losing to a superior athlete because you should never stop trying to improve yourself through such challenges. You should not take much pride in defeating a weaker opponent. They are likely trying hard to improve themselves as much as you are. This is a trust and unspoken pact among athletes. When someone cheats, they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. The Culture Of Asian American And Being Labeled As An Ethnic Preface In this essay, I attempted to lay bare the issues of being an Asian American and being labeled as an ethnic other in modern America. This label of other causes them to become marginalized and lose their sense of identity, belonging neither to Western culture nor Eastern culture. In order help stop this loss of identity in Asian Americans, we must tear down the social construct of the other and integrate the different cultures into the melting pot of popular culture. Once we have stopped alienating different cultures, we can then have a moral society that upholds diversity and identity. The Struggles of the Other The apparent dominance of White Europeans in America results in a common set of values, beliefs, and norms that are endorsed by Whites, leading to an America whose vision is filtered through the lens of the White European perspective. This established vision and power creates the social construct of the ethnic other. As an ethnic other in America, my analysis incorporates my personal experiences and the experiences of those around me. In a nation that has a population so diverse in personal and collective identities, problems regarding morality and culture can arise. In the America of the past and present, the norm by which all are measured against is that of a heterosexual White European. This norm creates a conflict with the marginalized groups who wish to gain acceptance by and into the dominant culture, but are not allowed to do so due to their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Research Paper On Freshwater Invertebrates While most people thinking of invertebrates for the aquarium are thinking of marine invertebrates, there are a surprising number of freshwater invertebrates that make excellent tank inhabitants. Many freshwater invertebrates do not require large amounts of space, making them ideal for Nano tanks or even goldfish bowls. Some eat algae or uneaten fish food, while others are stunningly beautiful. Sometimes such useful attributes even belong to the same creature. However, freshwater invertebrates don t always have the same requirements as fish and the requirements differ considerably between different species. Freshwater Shrimp Freshwater shrimp are probably the most decorative freshwater invertebrates. There are many species, each with its own color pattern and mode of life. As most species are small, they do not require much space. Freshwater shrimp are harassed or eaten by many fish species so tank mates must be considered carefully. I tried keeping Cherry Shrimp with a Pygmy Gourami and regretted the decision. The Gourami harassed my shrimp and probably caused the death of two of the five. Endler s Livebearers, however, coexisted peacefully with the shrimp. Different species have different temperature and pH tolerances, but some of them, like the Amano shrimp, tolerate cool water very well. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Crayfish are larger than most of the other invertebrates we are discussing here and large adults will need considerable space. Ten gallons is enough for an adult of most of the North American species, but some of the Australian species can reach 16 inches and would need a 30 50 gallon tank. There are a few dwarf species such as the Dwarf Cajun Crayfish, Cambarellus schufeldtii, that can be kept in a smaller tank or in a group in a 10 gallon tank if there are enough hiding ... • 48. The Militarization Of Officer Joe Cartoon Analysis Instructor Lyndsay Al Shibli English 111 September 14, 2016 The Militarization of Officer Joe What comes to mind when hearing the word cops? Some may think safety, others may think violence. It appears that there may be more answers than we first thought. In the cartoon titled The Militarization of Officer Joe , by MAD Magazine, the topic of police procedures in early 21 century America is introduced. The cartoon titled The Runaway , published in 1958, was created by artist Norman Rockwell, depicting his view on 20th Century America. Norman Rockwell passed away in 1978. In the year 2014, MAD magazine created a new cartoon in the same setting, but of a completely different view. Many elements of imagery are built into the cartoon, including balance, symbolism, captions, and emotion. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On the then side, the caption of the image reads 1958: The Runaway. After reading this I noticed a small red sack placed under the boy next to the cop. This informs that the boy being spoken to by the police officer, may in fact be a runaway. Still, the situation does not seem to raise much concern to the author, or even the police officer in that matter. The focus seems to be on the boy, being that he is most likely the runaway, and the police officer means to calmly convince him of changing his mind. On the now side of the cartoon, the caption reads 2014 The Militarization Of Officer Joe. Even the title of this image is violent. Dressed as though going into military combat, this caption suits the image very well. The police officer poses a much greater threat to the boy next to him on the now side, compared to the then side. The captions under each image help to provide a much greater understanding of the message in this cartoon. While one caption seems to focus on the boy and his well being, the other caption focuses on the cop, and the violence associated with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
