Why spend money that is really needed for other things? Why live uncomfortably? Why be trapped in
this hole called a home that belongs to another person? Why not live free and peacefully? When a
person rents he or she usually throws away money that could be used to purchase something that
belongs to them. Money is not easy to come by so why pay out hundreds toward something that is not
benefit to the person paying it out. There is no good explanation for making a decision like this. The

Buying a house provides stability forever unless the owner decides to sell or to move into another
home in which the owner gains equity for selling. This is still a huge benefit. Owning a home is a very
huge security measure. When a person is an actual homeowner and not a renter he or she can control
who actually enters his or her home (Map, 2011). It is easier to purchase home alarm systems and
everything that goes on in a person s home is controlled by the owner. As a homeowner the option of

any situation. Buying a home means actually owning something. There is no more following another

She is beautiful and confident and never shied away from expressing her sexuality. She has her carnal
desires which are not satisfied by her husband so, she looks for the satisfaction outside her marriage.

in America. The House on Mango Street is similar to the movie, Stand and Deliver because the
characters were judged based on where they lives, the characters have low self esteem, and the
females were expected to take care of family. The House on Mango Street is also different from the
movie, Stand and Deliver, because of the encouragement the characters received by adults, the
relationships the characters build, and the different viewpoint the characters have on where they will

In the book and movie the characters are judged based on where they lived. In the movie, the district
did not believe that the students received the high test scores because they lived in poverty. Similar to,
how the woman did not allow Esperanza to sit in the cool kids area for lunch since she lived in the
apartments. From Stand and Deliver, Pancho did not think he was smart enough to solve the calculus
equation on the board. Compared to, Esperanza, who called her feet ugly, we can infer that both
characters have low self esteem. The last similarity I want to talk about is the how the female
