When Siddhartha Gautama first stepped outside his palace walls, I bet he didn t know that he took the
first steps to starting a major world religion. Before I start on the cause and effect deal, I wanted to do
a little research on Siddhartha Gautama, and that, ladies and gentlemen, is exactly what I did. I
researched for about an hour, nearly missing my fencing class, but I found what I wanted. Siddhartha
was born in a large clan called the Shakyas in Nepal, son of the leader of the tribe. As of custom, he
married at the age of 16. They say his father didn t want him to see the suffering outside the palace
walls. So when he was in his late 20s and early 30s, he finally went outside the walls. He was quickly
exposed to the hardship of outside the walls. He saw a diseased man and a decaying corpse. So when
he was 29, he left his wife and kids to live alone and try to figure out the source of human suffering.

There is one scene when Driver is sitting in a couch with Irene s son Benicio watching the television
and they share a conversation. Typically it would just be filler to move the story along, but being that
this film is very meticulous every scene matters and means something that add to the bigger picture of
