The Dharma Bums Passage Analysis
Oh what a life this is, why do we have to be born in the first place, and only so we can have our poor
gentle flesh laid out to such impossible horrors as huge mountains and rock and empty space,
(Kerouac The Dharma Bums, page 42 43.) This passage was used during their hiking to Matterhorn.
Ray was so afraid and he could not continue to climb up the mountain. This passage expressed how
much fear he felt during that time.
I cannot fall off the mountain (Kerouac The Dharma Bums, page 44.) Overcoming his fear Ray
realized that he cannot fall off the mountain. After Ray s observation to Japhy s reaction on top of the
mountain and seeing Japhy s running down the mountain he figure out that he can also do it.
The first passage reminds me of my fear. I m always skeptical of trying if I would be able to do
something that I m really afraid of. In reference of the chapters that I have read, I was thinking if Ray
s really overcome his fear or he s just pretending to show Japhy s that he can also do things like he
used to do; pretending that he felt bad and he should try to climb up the mountain. I felt that he is not
being honest that time. The way the passage was constructed, you could feel his fear that ... Show

I am afraid of heights and I cannot pull myself to go higher. It sounds funny, but fear is all over me.
Even though my family keeps encouraging me and convinces me that I will be fine, I cannot move my
feet to continue. I feel like if I move another step I would fall off the hills. I m not sure if I will be able
to overcome this fear. Unlike, Ray our difference is, he figure out that he is not afraid. That he cannot
fall off the mountain and I never feel the same way. I feel relieve when I saw my family walking down
the hills because I know that I can now go down and will not endure the fear while waiting for them to
come down; I feel bad but it s

I Have A Life Guided By Morality, Driven By Passion, And...
I am Jake Savino, but I have not always known that. I have not truly discovered my identity, who I am
as a person, or what I was put on this planet to do, until recent years. I live a life guided by morality,
driven by passion, and inspired by my loved ones.
My passion is to work in bioethics for a specialty hospital. I gained an emotional connection to the
healthcare field at a very young age, but did not quite know how to make this into my future. It is still
very much a learning process for me; one that I reflect on every minute of every day. I have become
drawn to the dichotomies of the world, specifically in healthcare. I tend to think about things in a very
analytical, philosophical, and empathetic manner. I often question how people ... Show more content

It was a shame to me that my mom s action of stepping forward to tell hospital staff about this
procedure was the deciding factor of my dad s survival. There had to be something more that the
nurses and physicians could have done. I was, and still am, in disbelief. I saw first hand what could
happen if one does not know what options of care are available. Those are the types of atrocities that
are happening today. Very few people are looking out for the common man and people die every day,
needlessly, as a result.
Another person, also very near and dear to my heart, has helped develop my values into my sought
future. I have been a mentor for a physically and mentally challenged individual named David through
an organization called Countryside Association for People with Disabilities. People like David are
turned down from healthcare all the time because our health system renders them as functioning adults
when, in fact, they are not capable of living on their own at all. If such wonderful parents had not
adopted David, the state would not provide care for him past age twenty four, other than providing
income for disability. David cannot manage himself. The fact that there are people in the world
struggling with similar issues, and nobody to advocate for them worries me.
I believe that everyone deserves the right to the best care available without the basis of income,
employment, or social standing. I believe cutting edge approaches need to be offered to

Mythology In Popular Culture
Mythology in popular culture
How is mythology important to our world and society today? What do we know and define as myths?
Is the fiction being written today considered Mythology or will they eventually be known as
mythology to the people of the future? Let s first start off by putting Mythology and Fiction into
perspective. When we think of Myths, what first comes to mind, what immediately comes into focus is
of old grandmother stories that are not true but used to explain natural phenomenons and occurrences.
These tales may not necessarily be true but they are not entirely unfounded either. Fiction to us, is
plainly simply false or fantasies, fiction means stories told to entertain and keep people busy. Delving

There are so many parallels one can draw from Jediism and the many established religions of today
that we can t really just discount Jediism entirely for how it started out being created entirely as a joke,
or maybe just extreme fandom. The Force(Appendix A, Fig 4) may be equated to other religions and
cultures beliefs such as the Indian prana, the Chinese qi, the Daoist dao, and the Christian Holy Spirit,
all of them being an invisible energy that resides within the human body. But Jediism actually has
roots that are not entirely fictional. Jediism is after all based on George Lucas study and inspiration of
and by the book The Hero with a Thousand Faces by Joseph Campbell. Joseph Campbells discusses
mythos in his book, traditional or recurrent narrative theme or plot structure. This structure has been
widely studied and Joseph Campbell s version of this theory is named the monomyth . It separates into
3 broad spectrums of actions further defined by 17 functions. This recurrent theory is supported by the
fact that many religions and mythology carry through with it their images and relics dictate characters
of certain archetypes and roles, no matter where the myth may have originated from. One such parallel
that may be drawn is between Luke and Anakin Skywalker of the Star Wars franchise(Appendix A,

Throughout history, Holocaust is the most unforgettable in the history because by studying of the past

behavior and we could aware of the importance of making choice and come to realize that one person
can make a difference. In a film Night and Fog by Alain Resnais is a really movie that describe many
details that we could not see or learn from other sources. Before watching of this film, we might

The Affects of Hazardous Waste Material to the Environment
The Affects of Hazardous Waste Material to the Environment
What are Hazardous Waste Materials?
Hazardous wastes are poisonous byproducts of manufacturing, farming, city septic systems,
construction, automotive shops, laboratories, hospitals, and other industries such as Military
installations and military training areas. The waste may be liquid, solid, or sludge and contain
chemicals, heavy metals, radiation, dangerous pathogens, or other toxins. Even households generate
hazardous waste from items such as batteries, used computer equipment, and leftover paints or
pesticides. The waste can harm humans, animals, and plants if they encounter these toxins buried in
the ground, in stream runoff, in groundwater that supplies drinking ... Show more content on

If a very small amount of a hazardous substance is released, it may become diluted to the point where
it will not cause injury. A hazardous substance can cause injury or death to a person, plant, or animal
if:
A large amount is released at one time
A small amount is released many times at the same place
The substance does not become diluted
The substance is very toxic (for example, arsenic).
Coming into contact with a substance is called an exposure. The effects of exposure depend on:
How the substance is used and disposed of
Who is exposed to it?
The concentration, or dose, of exposure
How someone is exposed
How long or how often someone is exposed.
Humans, plants, and animals can be exposed to hazardous substances through inhalation, ingestion, or
dermal exposure.
Inhalation we can breathe vapors from hazardous liquids or even from contaminated water while
taking a shower.
Ingestion we can eat fish, fruits and vegetables, or meat that has been contaminated through exposure
to hazardous substances. Also, small children often eat soil or household materials that may be
contaminated, such as paint chips containing lead. Probably the most common type of exposure is
drinking contaminated water.
Dermal exposure a substance can come into direct contact with and be absorbed by our skin.
Exposures
Exposures can be either acute or chronic. An acute exposure is a single exposure to a hazardous

Plessy v. Ferguson and Brown v. Board of Education Picture this: a world with no color. Would racism
still exist? Or would people be discriminated based on other things such as height, weight, or the
sound of their voice? We may never know the answer to these questions. Racism is still alive in the
United States, but it is not as severe and oppressive as it was during the era of the Jim Crow laws. The
13th amendment freed the slaves in the United States, however, not many white Americans agreed
with this. The 13th amendment did not shield the African Americans from oppression, The segregation
and disenfranchisement laws known as Jim Crow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There was no clarification on what race would be considered white or what would be considered
black. During this incident, Homer Plessy, who was seven eighths white and one eighth African
American, purchased a rail ticket for travel within Louisiana and took a seat in a car reserved for white
passengers. (The state Supreme Court had ruled earlier that the law could not be applied to interstate
travel.) After refusing to move to a car for African Americans, he was arrested and charged with
violating the Separate Car Act. (Duignan 2017). Judge Ferguson ruled that the separation was fair and
did not violate the fourteenth amendment. The state Supreme Court also backed up this decision. The
case was brought to the Supreme Court and The law was challenged in the Supreme Court on grounds
that it conflicted with the 13th and 14th Amendments. By a 7 1 vote, the Court said that a state law
that implies merely a legal distinction between the two races did not conflict with the 13th
Amendment forbidding involuntary servitude, nor did it tend to reestablish such a condition.
(History.com Staff 2009). This decision set the key precedent of Separate but Equal in the United
States. Racial segregation kept growing. In 1954 the Supreme Court decision in Brown v. Board of
Education ruled that segregation in schools was unconstitutional. During the 1950s, ...civil rights

Music and Copyright Essay
Music has a powerful influence on society, like mass media and television. In our society today, music
has the ability to define our culture. Many people around the world listen to music while driving, at
work, doing housework, or even studying. Music may be seen as simple and unproblematic, but
looking at the structure behind it is very important. One of the key features of music is music
copyright and what that means to the music industry. Defining what this means in the historical
context is of great significance. Music and copyright is a vital aspect of the music industry. The
question that remains, however, is what happens with motivation or intension when samples of music
are not originally controlled in a larger network. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She mentions that if a copyright law is charged with protecting a particular arrangement of notes, then
maybe copyright laws should protect the riffs, melodies, harmonies, etc., or all of them. It is of great
importance to understand the meaning behind what this means by looking at copyright laws and what
it means to the music industry. One characteristic of intellectual property rights is copyright. This
means that it can be bought or sold like any other form of property (McCann 1998). McCann states
that the creator of an artistic piece of work is the first owner of a copyright. The owner has the
exclusive rights to do or to authorize anyone else to do certain things with the whole or any extensive
part of the work. The author and or the creator is at the centre of the copyright paradigm as a separate
and discrete body or entity. This is because the concept of the writer or composer is a special
participant in the production process which is worthy of attention. Authorship is important within the
context of copyright because as McCann points out: The authorship concept, although highly visible
in contemporary copyright law, usually appears as a focus of consensus rather than debate. Authorship
, as deployed in texts and in cultural understandings, has been anything but a stable, inert foundation
for the structure of copyright doctrine. Rather, the ideologically charged

Factors Affecting Labor Productivity And Their Affect...
Q1. Factors affecting Labor productivity and their affect levels? Ans. The Factors that can affect the
labor productivity are discussed below: 1. Overtime is the major factor that can affect the productivity
rate. Planning of expanded work days or weeks surpassing a standard eight hour work day or 40 hour
work week brings down work yield and productivity through physical weariness and poor mental
demeanor. 2. Joint ownership: This happens when work is booked using a similar office or work range
that must be shared or possessed by more than one specialty, and not foreseen in the first offer or plan.
3. Beneficial occupancy: This is an aftereffect of working over, around, or in nearness to different
specialties, proprietor s faculty, or generation hardware, which may bring about commotion
confinements, tidy, or different risky hazard. This may likewise forestall or cause get to limitations. 4.
Errors and Omissions: Increments in errors and omissions affect on work profitability since changes
are then ordinarily performed on a crash premise, out of grouping, cause weakening of supervision, or
whatever other negative effects. 5. Crew size inefficiency: This is the point at which the ideal group
size is modified by including or erasing team individuals. At the point when specialists are included or
erased from a group, it separates the first collaboration and beat of the team and results in loss of
profitability. 6. Logistics: Deficient or poor material handling,

The strong form claims that asset prices fully reflect all of the public and inside information available,
therefore no one can have advantage on the market in predicting prices. The introduction of the
efficient market hypothesis marked a turning point in scholarly researches on security prices and many
studies have been made since to test market efficiency. Many studies of the weak form of market
efficiency have been made on technical analyses and how investors use them to predict about future
security prices by looking at past prices. In 1969 Fama, Fisher, Jensen and Roll were the first to test
the semi strong form of market efficiency by using event studies. Their conclusion was that stock
prices adjust very rapidly to new information. Many scholars since then have studied how new
information affect the market by using event studies. Many articles about the strong form have also
been published and most of them study professional investor performances in the stock market
(Malkiel, 2003). Many of the studies on technical analyses, event studies and the performance of
professional investors in the stock market have reached the conclusion that markets are efficient and
therefore that stock prices are right (Malkiel, 2003). Before studies of behavioral finance became
popular, evidences began to appear that were inconsistent with the hypothesis of market efficiency.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Exclusive Jurisdiction
Statutory exclusive jurisdiction is a form of the international jurisdiction, which is always regulated by
the mandatory norms of the law and which may not be overridden by an agreement on jurisdiction by
the defendant s voluntary submission to the different forum. It has imperative character and stands on
the fact that the matters involved in the exclusive jurisdiction rules are closely linked to the state
sovereignty or the territory of the state and in these situations, the state interest prevails over the
private. This means that the state has a special interest to make its courts hear the dispute despite other
controversial circumstances (such as for instance the agreement on the jurisdiction of a different
court), exclude any possibility to transfer the case and the most important, do not allow the
recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments, which are made with the violation of the exclusive
jurisdiction rules. This special state interest is legally justified and admissible. Therefore, the
provisions of the exclusive jurisdictions prescribe that, if the subject matter of the dispute is one of the
specifically indicated therein, only the courts pointed there have jurisdiction to hear the dispute and
settle it.

contributing positive and negative aspects to the game, violence has taken its toll on not only the

Nevertheless, it is difficult to accept that violence is incidental when NHL players who specialize in
fighting, goons or enforcers, are paid a premium for this behavior even though their hockey skills are
marginal and those who refuse to fight are consigned to the minor leagues as punishment.
However, when looking specifically at the economic value that violence is an attribute of the product
intentionally promoted by leagues and teams to increase attendance and profits. The underlying
assumption is that fans have a taste for violence, and violence attracts larger crowds, larger crowds
increase revenue, which, given costs, increases profits. This hypothesis is compatible with the
response of successive NHL presidents when the question of violence is raised: that the league is in
the entertainment business and therefore has to put on a spectacle. It is also consistent with the act of
paying players a premium to fight and the statistical finding that violence and NHL attendance are
positively correlated. While it is quite clear that violence was widespread in hockey before and during
the early years of the NHL, when it was strictly a Canadian game, as some of the classic NHL brawls
have taken place in Canada between Canadian teams, and the largest NHL fan riot occurred in
Montreal.

Interpreter Of Maladies Short Story
Imagine being told what you want or not want to hear all the time, imagine being able to say
everything you want without any guilt or fear of hurting others, it might sound a little exaggerated, but
the world will be way easier if people wouldn t be afraid of communicating. Many people nowadays
are in relationships and don t have any type of communication with their partners. There are many of
reasons why a relationship or even marriage will fail, however are people aware of them or do they
know how to avoid them ? It has been proved that communication is the key to a relationship.
Interpreter of Maladies, is a book composed by nine short stories, written by Jhumpa Lahiri, in which
the author demonstrates throughout her stories how lack of communication is one of many factors that
leads to a relationship to become problematic and will even be the cause of a break up. In most of her
stories there is at least one example of lack of communication which leads to a misunderstanding. In
every type of relationship there should be communication or else you won t be heard or will be in a
unsatisfied relationship full of hidden lies and doubts. Even though, Interpreter of Maladies, is just a
book of nine narrated fiction stories, communication is still an issue in plenty 2017. By not
communicating we are making our lives more difficult than they already are. It is like if we are
suffering in silence by choice. For example in the very first short story, A Temporary Matter, from the

How Accurate Is It to Say That Lenin’s Leadership Was the...
How accurate is it to say that Lenin s leadership was the most important reason for the Bolshevik s
success in the revolution of November 1917?
Lenin s leadership was to a large extent an important cause of the Bolshevik s success in the
November 1917 revolution. This is because of Lenin s great leadership skills, including his personality
and timing, and his use of propaganda. Other factors to why the Bolsheviks succeeded included
Trotsky s role, which was debatably more important, and the problems with the Provisional
Government, which made it unpopular, increasing support to the Bolsheviks and meant that any future
revolution was inevitable.

There were major problems for the government, counting the central issues. People were suffering
from the hardships of World War I including: a huge number of deaths at the front, hyperinflation,
transportation breakdowns, empty shelves in stores and lack of fuel to heat people s homes. These
issues were linked in a cruel circle; the only way to end the economic and social crisis was to get out
off war but by doing so, that would mean the withdrawal of foreign aid, which would create an
economic crisis of its own. The central issues dissatisfied the proletariat, soldiers and peasants. When
Lenin returned, he promised his most popular slogans, which were Peace, Land and Bread and All
Power to the Soviets which were designed to gain support for the Bolsheviks and undermine the
Provisional Government. Peace, Land and Bread was a popular message because peace meant an
instant end to conflicts and referred to Bolshevik opposition to war; bread meant a promise of food in
the towns and cities, and land meant all of it to be nationalised for the peasantry. This was a popular
message in a country tired of war and faced food shortages. This emphasised the Provisional
Government s support for the unpopular war and proved their failure to help the land and food
shortages. Lenin s solution All Power to the Soviets made the workers and peasants believe that the

travel alone, (113). The unnamed man s biggest mistake is underestimating the force of nature and as
he steps out into unimaginable weather conditions, it is clear he is unprepared. In fact, he carried
nothing but the lunch wrapped in the handkerchief. He was surprised, however, at the cold. It certainly
was cold, he concluded, as he rubbed his numb nose and cheekbones with his mitted hand. He was a
warm whiskered man but the hair on his face did not protect the high cheekbones and the eager nose
that thrust itself aggressively into the frosty air (108). This quotation demonstrates that he was
unprepared and underestimated this journey. He should have carefully considered all factors relating
to under packing, underdressing, and the issue of possible frostbite/death, and he shouldn t have
underestimated the fact that he cannot control natures conditions such as negative fifty degree weather.
On the other hand, the dog from the very start is hesitant to accompany the man on his journey. The
animal was depressed by the tremendous cold. It knew that it was no time for travelling. Its instinct

Essay On Handbags
Handbags are an essential fashion accessory that enhances the personality of a woman. It is said to be
a conveyer of status as much as it acts as a carrier for personal belonging . (Olen, 2015). Our brand
MJam is an online business providing contemporary handbags made in a variety of materials. The
business is owned by an inspiring and talented leather accessories designer Marukh Jamshed. The
brand provides a variety of handbags made in trendy colors with tasteful embellishments, catering to
the chic and stylish target customers. It first began its operations in 2011, targeting a limited customer
base. And ever since its inception the brand has been operating online. Thus it has a potential to
expand its customer base by establishing retail presence in multi brand stores such as PFDC and
Tehzeeb. This would create convenience for the customers who wish to tangibly inspect the product
before purchasing it. The literature review is based on variables such as expanding the business to
retail stores, necessary handbag features required and types of handbag customers. Expanding the
business to retail stores: Adapting to the changing market dynamics is seen to be the key to success
behind the growth of a business. Nowadays businesses adopt the Omni channel strategy where they

love for Milkman and the abandonment he caused her by breaking up with her through a letter,
causing her to go mad and try to kill Milkman. Milkman lays on Guitar bed and discuss a conversation

Cover Contest Reflection
In the summer of 2016, I decided to enter the Luzerne county fair s guide cover contest. I came across
a problem, however; I missed the deadline and would need to wait till next year. I still went to the fair
in September to see my competition in other categories I entered, and to look at who won the cover
contest. When I saw the winning cover, I became discouraged. It was much better than anything I
could draw. I thought I wouldn t have a chance in next year s contest. I continued on in the fair,
wondering at what would happened if I entered next year. In May of 2017, I gained my enthusiasm
back. This time, I became determined to win the cover contest. More importantly, I became
determined to gain confidence in myself. I started working on

Touching Spirit Bear Cole Matthews Character Traits
Cole Matthews Character Profile Final Copy
In the book Touching Spirit Bear, Cole Matthews is the main character. I have learned about Cole in
the book Touching Spirit Bear. I will provide facts and my own opinions about Cole s attitude and his
disposition. You will learn many things from my character profile about Cole. Cole Matthews is a
fifteen year old teenager from Minneapolis. He is a baby faced person with dirty blonde hair, and he is
considered big for his age. Cole is a generally rude person and he doesn t care what other people think
about him. For example, on page three in the book Touching Spirit Bear states, Cole Matthews knelt
defiantly... Cole might not seem ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, he doesn t trust anyone who isn t afraid of him. For example, on page four, the book clarifies,
He didn t trust anyone who wasn t afraid of him. As you can see, Cole is not the nicest person in the
world. Cole Matthews has been in trouble with the law for half of his life. An example from the text is
(page five) ...who has been in trouble with the law half his life. Many people in the story think that he
should get tried as an adult and spend some time in jail so he doesn t hurt anyone else. For example,
on page forty six, Peter s lawyer says, That boy is dangerous, she said. Next time he might kill
someone. This Circle Justice has it s place, but I oppose any plan that does not isolate Cole Matthews.
Many characters in the book think that Cole should have all the things that he s done to happen to him.
In the book, Touching Spirit Bear, on page fifty, Peter says, I think someone should smash Cole s head
against a sidewalk so he knows how it feels. In conclusion, Cole is not afraid to hurt people who aren t
afraid of him. Cole is not polite to anyone around him, even if they are a figure of importance. For
example, on page four Edwin says, Go put your clothes on inside out, he ordered. Get real, old man.
Many characters in the book Touching Spirit Bear view Cole as a nuisance and pain in the rear.
According to the text, on page twenty one Garvey states, I don t invest time in losers.

Socrates Death Argument Analysis
Brian Frias
Professor Pereira
Philosophy 100 M/W 8 9:15
9 February 2015
Socrates Death Arguments Socrates was an ancient philosopher set in Athens, Greece. Socrates, being
known for stirring up arguments amongst the city s wisest men, grew widely unpopular in the
community. This unpopularity, and many other troubles led Socrates to be accused and sentenced to
trial for corrupting the youth, and of not believing in the Gods of the city. During Socrates trial, he
brings up arguments about why we should not fear death, just as he does not. In this essay I will cover
Socrates two arguments about death, their inconsistencies, and explain why Socrates changed his
position about death towards the end of the trial. While Socrates is being held ... Show more content

He starts to talk about how this penalty of death is actually a good thing for him, and he is not angry
for it. Socrates then clearly says that he has proof that death is good. He starts to say that death is a
blessing and there are either two different scenarios of death. The first scenario of death is having no
perception of anything at all and having your soul relocated, like a great dreamless sleep, which in
Socrates eyes is truly a blessing. The second is in which your soul is relocated elsewhere, you are able
to talk to others that have passed like great figures from the past. The alleged inconstancy is clear
between these two arguments. The first argument Socrates states that he does not fear death because
he has no clue what lies beyond. He cannot fear what he does not know of. With both arguments he is
very confident in what he is saying, especially with the second argument claiming that he has proof
that death is good. In the second argument Socrates says that death can be two things and then
proceeds to explain what death is. In that argument, by stating what death is, he is clearly saying that
he has some knowledge about death and is completely contradicting his first

Hanukkah And St. Nicholas Day Summary
The residents of the annex use too much electricity and exceed their ration. Anne begins to feel that
Mr. Dussel is a strict disciplinarian and has too many opinions about etiquette. She writes that it is
very difficult being the badly brought up center of attention in a family of nitpickers. Hanukkah and
St. Nicholas Day come on almost the same day, so the annex holds two celebrations. They light the
Hanukkah candles for only ten minutes, since candles are in short supply. For St. Nicholas Day, Father
hides a basket filled with presents and a mask of Black Peter in a cabinet. Mr. van Daan makes
sausages to preserve the meat they have bought. Mr. Dussel opens a pretend dental practice in the
annex and comically attempts to fix Mrs. van Daan s cavities. Anne tires of Mrs. van Daan s incessant
complaints and is annoyed that Mr. Dussel constantly tells her to be quiet at night but then wakes her
up when he does his exercises at dawn. Anne marvels at how diplomatic she has become while living
in the annex. Mr. Kugler brings the residents gravy packets to fill because he can find no one else to
do the job. According to Anne, however, it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

and to others outside, and Mr. Frank demands that he stop. The residents have another scare when they
think they hear burglars in the building. After that incident, the clock suddenly stops chiming, which
also upsets Anne. Later, the residents hear a radio announcement that all Jews must be deported from
Utrecht and the other provinces of the Netherlands by the beginning of

The Mexican Revolution Essay
The Mexican Revolution
The Mexican Revolution was the culmination of a mass of political, economic, and social tension that
accompanied the regime of the dictator Porfirio Diaz. The Revolution began with the aims to
overthrow Diaz, but the Revolution had a pronounced effect on the organization of Mexico s
government, economy, and society.
Porfirio Diaz was the president of Mexico when the Revolution broke out. He was elected in 1877,
and although he swore to step down in 1880, he continued to be reelected until 1910. He claimed that
he was justified in this because he brought stability to Mexico. However, this was hardly the case.

After Diaz had won by a landslide, he released Madero from prison. Madero promptly fled to San
Antonio, Texas to plan a revolution. There he wrote the Plan of St. Luis Potosi, which said that the
election was fraudulent and that he was the provisional president of Mexico. The plan was purely
political and Madero planned to have a completely democratic government. The plan said nothing
about changing the situation for farmers and peasants. However, rural peasants latched onto the plan,
thinking that Madero would also reform the country economically and socially. There were many
revolutions carried out under Madero s flag, specifically revolutions carried out by Pancho Villa and
Emiliano Zapata.
Different groups had very different goals for what the Mexican revolution would accomplish. The
rural peasants and indigenous people wanted the land to be taken out of the hands of the aristocracy or
the elite and have the land be evenly divided between the rural towns. They wanted the territory of
their ancestors back because it had been stripped from them during the regime of Porfirio Diaz. They
also wanted to be taken out of poverty and to have farming available to them again so that they could
sustain their lives and work for their living. Therefore, because the peasants were suffering under the
regime of Diaz, they wholeheartedly supported the revolution and everything that came with it. The

women of all races, especially African Americans and Hispanics. Your mother, your sister, niece, aunt,

because it tell you that we all live in a society that judges someone s worth based on thier sex and not
their ability and qualifications. Hispanics and Latinos are paid 55 cents to an average man s dollar, an
African American woman is paid 60 cents, a white woman 77 cents to every man s dollar. Gender

This is a social problem that began years ago, Although the government is making strides to eradicate

Attachment, Antisocial, And Antisocial Behavior
Attachment and Antisocial Behavior in Adolescents Secure early infant attachments are imperative to
a person s life because it assists in the development of empathy and emotional self regulation. A
healthy development of empathy and emotional self regulation promotes prosocial behavior. Prosocial
behavior is the deliberate action of helping and/or benefiting another person, group, or society in
general without any thought of being rewarded. Securing an early infant attachment can develop an
automatic response of prosocial behavior which can be applied throughout an individual s life as he or
she responds to immediate situations that may occur throughout a lifetime. Anti social behavior is
developed when a person lacks the ability to help someone because he or she fails to identify with the
feelings or difficulties of someone else (Steele, Bate, Nikitiades, Buhl Nielsen, 2015). Adolescents
that display anti social behavior are more likely to develop poor peer competence, have lower
academic performance, become involved in adulthood criminality and are at a higher risk of
developing adult mental health problems. Anti social behavior in adolescents is expressed by the
inability to respect the rights of others which leads to the violation of societal social norms. Some
behavior, such as being disobedience or defiant, can be considered as normal behavior in adolescents,
however it can also be a strong predictor of adjustment difficulties adolescents may face in their

The Cause And Effects Of Siddhartha Gautama
When Siddhartha Gautama first stepped outside his palace walls, I bet he didn t know that he took the
first steps to starting a major world religion. Before I start on the cause and effect deal, I wanted to do
a little research on Siddhartha Gautama, and that, ladies and gentlemen, is exactly what I did. I
researched for about an hour, nearly missing my fencing class, but I found what I wanted. Siddhartha
was born in a large clan called the Shakyas in Nepal, son of the leader of the tribe. As of custom, he
married at the age of 16. They say his father didn t want him to see the suffering outside the palace
walls. So when he was in his late 20s and early 30s, he finally went outside the walls. He was quickly
exposed to the hardship of outside the walls. He saw a diseased man and a decaying corpse. So when
he was 29, he left his wife and kids to live alone and try to figure out the source of human suffering.
After a couple years of living solitary, he meditated and fasted nearly to starvation. Siddhartha thought
he had found the way to end all universal suffering. He found a small group of other ascetics and they
listened to his teachings. These were his first followers. Because he first stepped outside of the palace
walls, as a result, he started his path to becoming Buddha.
After a couple years, his followers multiplied, and the religion developed. The Buddhist religion
adopted some Hindu traditions and customs, such as meditating. Meditating is thought to help the soul

Abstract
A Global transition to Internet Protocol version 6 is initiated. The government and organizations
understand the benefits of this new protocol and are making change plans. The Information
technology industry is undergoing a massive transformation. This research paper would outline the
migration, transformation, and configuration of Internet Protocol version 6 from Internet Protocol

The networks combine IP with a higher level protocol called Transmission Control Protocol. This
protocol establishes an implicit connection between a destination and the origin. Internet Protocol can
be correlated to a postal system network. It grants an entity to address a parcel, packet or mail and
drop it in the postal system. There is no direct link between the consignor and the recipient.
TCP/IP
Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol is the primary network communication, language
since the mid 1990s. It can be passed down as a communications protocol in a private network. The
TCP/IP is a two layered protocol. The Transmission Control Protocol is the higher layer which
administers the assembling of a message or file into smaller packets. These packets are transmitted
over the Internet. The packets are amassed and reassembled into the primary message after being
received by the TCP layer. The Internet Protocol is the lower layer. This layer monitors the address
part of each packet so that it gets to the right destination. The TCP/IP establishes an intermediary
between two hosts so that they can send messages back and forth for a period of time.
Internet Protocol Versions
Tout de suite there are two versions of Internet Protocols on the web. The predominant version is IPv4
and a leading edge advanced version which is called IPv6. The IPv6 is an evolutionary enhancement
to the Internet

Analysis Of The Movie The Car Ride Home
The car ride home was an awkward one. Neither Lexi nor Noah said a word to each other for a long
time. Both of them were trying to collect their thoughts, a task that could only be done in silence. All
Noah could think about was that gorgeous girl that had gotten between the fight. Who was she? She
had courage to step into a shifter fight like that. Maybe she didn t know they were shifters but either
way she had a certain badass air to her. She was so amazing. But why was he thinking about her when
Lexi was right there on the side of him? Wasn t Lexi the one he was supposed to be with? Wasn t that

Was it the right decision though? Would being with Noah really make her happy or would her heart
always yearn for more? They both simmered down in their own thoughts for a while, trying to make
sense of their confusing emotions. It was the longest car ride ever. Eventually, however, Noah pulled
into his parking space and they got out. They walked up to the fourth floor in silence before Noah
finally said, Hey do you want to come in for some tea or something? There s something I really have
to tell you. Noah had a serious look on his face that made Lexi nervous. For some reason, his words
had caused a knot in her stomach to form and now she was scared of what he might say. Was he going
to quit being her friend because of Logan? Lexi would understand if he did. It wasn t his job to protect
her from other guys. With her heart in her mouth, Lexi nodded and followed Noah inside. It was warm
and inviting inside, but the whole situation made her uneasy. What was Noah going to tell her? Go
ahead and get comfy and I ll make some tea, alright? Lexi nodded and made her way to the couch,
waiting for Noah to return. He looked at her and made sure

Review Of The Handmaid s Tale
Comparing a book to the movie that is a product of that book is always a difficult thing, but with The
Handmaid s Tale the novel and movie were quite similar. Set in the near future, in a totalitarian society
post overthrowing of the United States government, The Handmaid s Tale explores the idea that
people will endure oppression willingly as long as they receive some slight amount of power or
freedom in return. This can be seen prominently in both the film and novel. However, although the
overall idea was the same, the way that it was perceived through the movie is drastically different than
through the text version. In the novel there is a eminent absence of real names, and Handmaids are
instead referred to by nicknames that signify the Commanders they serve. They reveal little to nothing
about the Handmaids, except for the absence of their personal identities. Equivalently, although the
Aunts have individual, feminine alias, they aren t their birth names either. Significantly, it s noticed in
the novel that we were never given the name of Offred, nor her child. This differs from the movie
greatly where the characters interact with each other considerably more than depicted in the paperback
most likely to make the film more entertaining to watch, but greatly taking away from a main
component of Atwood s story. To make what I believe is less confusing for viewers, characters were
appointed names in the flick. For example, the protagonist and narrator of

Microsoft Surface
Topic Selection Microsoft recently unveiled its prototype, Surface, their version of a tablet or
alternative device to a personal computer. It is questionable how Microsoft, a known software
company, will be able to manufacture and sell a tablet device that is a contender in the marketplace
against devices such as the iPad. Thesis: It is critical that Microsoft produce a device that overcomes
the limitations of its competitors and adds features that set it apart, in order to define itself in the tablet
market.

a press event in Hollywood last week. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Microsoft sees that Apple is world class in what they do. Microsoft has little choice but to do what
they must to make sure someone has world class hardware in the Windows camp. (Ray, 2012)
Microsoft has not had a competitor for the iPad since Apple released the original version in 2010.
Windows 8, which is to be available to consumers this fall, has been the company s hope to compete
against Apple s dominance in the tablet market. Apple sold 3 million of its new iPad s in the first three
days after its launch (Stern, 2012).
Along with determination, innovation, and advantages is the recognition that Microsoft can do some
very stupid and self defeating things. But the company has been in the tablet space for decades. In
fact, you could argue that one reason Apple knew what would work is because Microsoft did so much
of the advance work to eliminate what wouldn t. It may finally have gotten many of the mistakes out
of its collective system (Sherman, 2012). Ballmer said the company took its time with the tablets,
working quietly on its new machines to work out all the details. We took the time to get Windows 8
and Surface right, he said (Stern, 2012).
The company still faces big odds. Competing with itsown hardware partners could prove sticky, at
best. (Sherman, 2012) Sherlund

On Children ages 6 12, parental divorce can negatively impact education. This age group is still in
what psychologists call the magical thinking stage; which means they usually are very optimistic and

separation of their parents but can also feel it s their duty to reconcile their parents back together; they
cannot fathom the idea of their parents who belong to them in a sense not living together. When
parents divorce their teen s attitudes about sexual behavior changes, teens chances of premarital sex
and thoughts about divorce rises while thoughts about marriage is reduced. American and British

Donald Knuth s The Art Of Computer Programming
1. Introduction Donald Knuth, summarises in his book, The Art of Computer Programming, that:
People think that computer science is the art of geniuses but the actual reality is the opposite, just
many people doing things that build on each other, like a wall of mini stones . (Knuth, 1968) When
looking at an Operating System one could often say that an Operating System is a large sum made up
of small separate parts. Much like how Knuth describes computer science being the wall of mini

Why Did The Inca Created Terraces
The Incans were sophisticated farmers. They used very advanced and specialised techniques to grow a

enabled their crops to get more sunlight instead of planting in the shaded valleys. The terraces were
formed with stone walls and included steps to move from one level to the next. The stone walls
prevented erosion. The stone walls were also used as they would heat up during the day and slowly
release heat into the soil when temperatures cooled

How Does Hitchcock Use Lighting In The 39 Steps
The 39 Steps is a 1935 thriller film directed by Alfred Hitchcock. Hitchcock successfully created a
mysterious and nerve stimulating atmosphere throughout the whole film, thus making this film a hit
over the century. Mindy Cooper, an artist in residence at UC Davis, recreated this masterpiece but
made a slightly different approach by inserting some comedic elements. On the other hand, the
lighting designer Pamila Z. Gray works effectively with the rest of the creative team, and they bring
out great and appealing effects for UC Davis version of The 39 Steps. Since most of the scenes take
place at night time, Gray puts a lot of effort in creating the nighttime lighting. On both sides of the
stage, there are two pipes with lighting instruments hanging. Gray uses orange lights for the first row
and blue lights for the second row. The blue lights effectively notify the audience that the scenes take
place at night, while the orange lights help to highlight the characters. It is a smart act using orange
lights instead of tungsten lights since orange is the light of street light, so they can help to create a
more realistic scene and make the audience think that this is a real life incident. Therefore, the
audience will easily insert their sentiment when watching this melodrama. The blue lights also work
well since cool color brings the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The theatre is calm and stable, so it is hard to depict a transportation, especially when the characters
have to chase and being chased on the train. However, the lighting design makes a large contribution
on that as Gray uses the rapid, circular movements of lights to illustrate the movement of the train. In
actual world, when people sit on a moving train, the sunlight will come and leave the passengers face
instantly and continuously. Gray seizes this feature and vividly tells the audience that the characters
are sitting on a moving

The Movie A Real Hero
When Driver meets his neighbor Irene that emotionless face from the beginning of the film softens up
a little. In a small scene where Driver looks out the window of his apartment we see Irene and her son
in the distance. So we don t get the typical close up of the actors. This highlighted the Driver longing
to be in a normal world and just how far away from that he felt. Later in the film when Irene and her
son goes to the auto body shop where Driver works you can see his face light up like a little boy with
a crush. He actually smiles. When Driver gives them a ride we hear what is known to be the film s
main theme. A Real Hero , a song with lyrics telling the tale of a man standing up for what s right even
when everything is on the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is one scene when Driver is sitting in a couch with Irene s son Benicio watching the television
and they share a conversation. Typically it would just be filler to move the story along, but being that
this film is very meticulous every scene matters and means something that add to the bigger picture of
the story. In the scene Driver asks Benicio Is he a bad guy? In which Benicio responds Yeah. Driver
asks him How can you tell? Benicio responds Cause he s a shark. Driver then asks There s no good
sharks? In which Benicio responds No. I mean just look at him? Does he look like a good guy to you?
The way I interpreted that conversation as being in reference to Driver himself. He s a shark. He s a
bad guy. He wants to know if there are any good sharks and when Benicio thinks otherwise he gets the
look as if reality slapped him in the face.
That realisation continues into the next scene when Driver learns that Irene s husband is coming home
from prision. His future that was starting to look bright then begins to fall apart. When Standard is
released from prison they have a welcome home party where he thanks Irene for waiting for him. At
the same time Driver is in his apartment working on a car part. This is where the soundtrack that is
used enhances what Driver is feeling throughout the whole scene. While he is working on the car part
he can

  • 2. The Dharma Bums Passage Analysis Oh what a life this is, why do we have to be born in the first place, and only so we can have our poor gentle flesh laid out to such impossible horrors as huge mountains and rock and empty space, (Kerouac The Dharma Bums, page 42 43.) This passage was used during their hiking to Matterhorn. Ray was so afraid and he could not continue to climb up the mountain. This passage expressed how much fear he felt during that time. I cannot fall off the mountain (Kerouac The Dharma Bums, page 44.) Overcoming his fear Ray realized that he cannot fall off the mountain. After Ray s observation to Japhy s reaction on top of the mountain and seeing Japhy s running down the mountain he figure out that he can also do it. The first passage reminds me of my fear. I m always skeptical of trying if I would be able to do something that I m really afraid of. In reference of the chapters that I have read, I was thinking if Ray s really overcome his fear or he s just pretending to show Japhy s that he can also do things like he used to do; pretending that he felt bad and he should try to climb up the mountain. I felt that he is not being honest that time. The way the passage was constructed, you could feel his fear that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I am afraid of heights and I cannot pull myself to go higher. It sounds funny, but fear is all over me. Even though my family keeps encouraging me and convinces me that I will be fine, I cannot move my feet to continue. I feel like if I move another step I would fall off the hills. I m not sure if I will be able to overcome this fear. Unlike, Ray our difference is, he figure out that he is not afraid. That he cannot fall off the mountain and I never feel the same way. I feel relieve when I saw my family walking down the hills because I know that I can now go down and will not endure the fear while waiting for them to come down; I feel bad but it s ... • 3. I Have A Life Guided By Morality, Driven By Passion, And... I am Jake Savino, but I have not always known that. I have not truly discovered my identity, who I am as a person, or what I was put on this planet to do, until recent years. I live a life guided by morality, driven by passion, and inspired by my loved ones. My passion is to work in bioethics for a specialty hospital. I gained an emotional connection to the healthcare field at a very young age, but did not quite know how to make this into my future. It is still very much a learning process for me; one that I reflect on every minute of every day. I have become drawn to the dichotomies of the world, specifically in healthcare. I tend to think about things in a very analytical, philosophical, and empathetic manner. I often question how people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was a shame to me that my mom s action of stepping forward to tell hospital staff about this procedure was the deciding factor of my dad s survival. There had to be something more that the nurses and physicians could have done. I was, and still am, in disbelief. I saw first hand what could happen if one does not know what options of care are available. Those are the types of atrocities that are happening today. Very few people are looking out for the common man and people die every day, needlessly, as a result. Another person, also very near and dear to my heart, has helped develop my values into my sought future. I have been a mentor for a physically and mentally challenged individual named David through an organization called Countryside Association for People with Disabilities. People like David are turned down from healthcare all the time because our health system renders them as functioning adults when, in fact, they are not capable of living on their own at all. If such wonderful parents had not adopted David, the state would not provide care for him past age twenty four, other than providing income for disability. David cannot manage himself. The fact that there are people in the world struggling with similar issues, and nobody to advocate for them worries me. I believe that everyone deserves the right to the best care available without the basis of income, employment, or social standing. I believe cutting edge approaches need to be offered to ... • 4. Mythology In Popular Culture Mythology in popular culture How is mythology important to our world and society today? What do we know and define as myths? Is the fiction being written today considered Mythology or will they eventually be known as mythology to the people of the future? Let s first start off by putting Mythology and Fiction into perspective. When we think of Myths, what first comes to mind, what immediately comes into focus is of old grandmother stories that are not true but used to explain natural phenomenons and occurrences. These tales may not necessarily be true but they are not entirely unfounded either. Fiction to us, is plainly simply false or fantasies, fiction means stories told to entertain and keep people busy. Delving further into their definitions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are so many parallels one can draw from Jediism and the many established religions of today that we can t really just discount Jediism entirely for how it started out being created entirely as a joke, or maybe just extreme fandom. The Force(Appendix A, Fig 4) may be equated to other religions and cultures beliefs such as the Indian prana, the Chinese qi, the Daoist dao, and the Christian Holy Spirit, all of them being an invisible energy that resides within the human body. But Jediism actually has roots that are not entirely fictional. Jediism is after all based on George Lucas study and inspiration of and by the book The Hero with a Thousand Faces by Joseph Campbell. Joseph Campbells discusses mythos in his book, traditional or recurrent narrative theme or plot structure. This structure has been widely studied and Joseph Campbell s version of this theory is named the monomyth . It separates into 3 broad spectrums of actions further defined by 17 functions. This recurrent theory is supported by the fact that many religions and mythology carry through with it their images and relics dictate characters of certain archetypes and roles, no matter where the myth may have originated from. One such parallel that may be drawn is between Luke and Anakin Skywalker of the Star Wars franchise(Appendix A, Fig 5)and Adam and Jesus Christ(Appendix A, Fig 6) of the Biblical ... Essay On Night And Fog Throughout history, Holocaust is the most unforgettable in the history because by studying of the past to understand the present, we could learn that the human beings possess the power to control our behavior and we could aware of the importance of making choice and come to realize that one person can make a difference. In a film Night and Fog by Alain Resnais is a really movie that describe many details that we could not see or learn from other sources. One characteristic of intellectual property rights is copyright. This means that it can be bought or sold like any other form of property (McCann 1998). McCann states that the creator of an artistic piece of work is the first owner of a copyright. The owner has the exclusive rights to do or to authorize anyone else to do certain things with the whole or any extensive part of the work. The author and or the creator is at the centre of the copyright paradigm as a separate and discrete body or entity. This is because the concept of the writer or composer is a special participant in the production process which is worthy of attention. Authorship is important within the context of copyright because as McCann points out: The authorship concept, although highly visible in contemporary copyright law, usually appears as a focus of consensus rather than debate. Authorship , as deployed in texts and in cultural understandings, has been anything but a stable, inert foundation for the structure of copyright doctrine. Rather, the ideologically charged ... However, when looking specifically at the economic value that violence is an attribute of the product intentionally promoted by leagues and teams to increase attendance and profits. The underlying assumption is that fans have a taste for violence, and violence attracts larger crowds, larger crowds increase revenue, which, given costs, increases profits. This hypothesis is compatible with the response of successive NHL presidents when the question of violence is raised: that the league is in the entertainment business and therefore has to put on a spectacle. It is also consistent with the act of paying players a premium to fight and the statistical finding that violence and NHL attendance are positively correlated. This is because of Lenin s great leadership skills, including his personality and timing, and his use of propaganda. Other factors to why the Bolsheviks succeeded included Trotsky s role, which was debatably more important, and the problems with the Provisional Government, which made it unpopular, increasing support to the Bolsheviks and meant that any future revolution was inevitable. The central issues dissatisfied the proletariat, soldiers and peasants. When Lenin returned, he promised his most popular slogans, which were Peace, Land and Bread and All Power to the Soviets which were designed to gain support for the Bolsheviks and undermine the Provisional Government. Peace, Land and Bread was a popular message because peace meant an instant end to conflicts and referred to Bolshevik opposition to war; bread meant a promise of food in the towns and cities, and land meant all of it to be nationalised for the peasantry. Porfirio Diaz was the president of Mexico when the Revolution broke out. He was elected in 1877, and although he swore to step down in 1880, he continued to be reelected until 1910. He claimed that he was justified in this because he brought stability to Mexico. However, this was hardly the case. Diaz s regime aimed to industrialize Mexico, and foreign investors such as the United States and Britain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After Diaz had won by a landslide, he released Madero from prison. Madero promptly fled to San Antonio, Texas to plan a revolution. There he wrote the Plan of St. Luis Potosi, which said that the election was fraudulent and that he was the provisional president of Mexico. The plan was purely political and Madero planned to have a completely democratic government. The plan said nothing about changing the situation for farmers and peasants. However, rural peasants latched onto the plan, thinking that Madero would also reform the country economically and socially. There were many revolutions carried out under Madero s flag, specifically revolutions carried out by Pancho Villa and Emiliano Zapata. Different groups had very different goals for what the Mexican revolution would accomplish. The rural peasants and indigenous people wanted the land to be taken out of the hands of the aristocracy or the elite and have the land be evenly divided between the rural towns. They wanted the territory of their ancestors back because it had been stripped from them during the regime of Porfirio Diaz. They also wanted to be taken out of poverty and to have farming available to them again so that they could sustain their lives and work for their living. Therefore, because the peasants were suffering under the regime of Diaz, they wholeheartedly supported the revolution and everything that came with it. The Roman Catholic Church, ... • 28. Attachment, Antisocial, And Antisocial Behavior Attachment and Antisocial Behavior in Adolescents Secure early infant attachments are imperative to a person s life because it assists in the development of empathy and emotional self regulation. A healthy development of empathy and emotional self regulation promotes prosocial behavior. Prosocial behavior is the deliberate action of helping and/or benefiting another person, group, or society in general without any thought of being rewarded. Securing an early infant attachment can develop an automatic response of prosocial behavior which can be applied throughout an individual s life as he or she responds to immediate situations that may occur throughout a lifetime. Anti social behavior is developed when a person lacks the ability to help someone because he or she fails to identify with the feelings or difficulties of someone else (Steele, Bate, Nikitiades, Buhl Nielsen, 2015). Adolescents that display anti social behavior are more likely to develop poor peer competence, have lower academic performance, become involved in adulthood criminality and are at a higher risk of developing adult mental health problems. Anti social behavior in adolescents is expressed by the inability to respect the rights of others which leads to the violation of societal social norms. Some behavior, such as being disobedience or defiant, can be considered as normal behavior in adolescents, however it can also be a strong predictor of adjustment difficulties adolescents may face in their ... Most students will not have the same experience I have had during the strike, all situations are different however if no one voices their specific struggle we will remain faceless victims of an unjust system. As I have said I am 25 years old, I am a young woman and have never had a thing handed to me in my lifetime. The Cause And Effects Of Siddhartha Gautama When Siddhartha Gautama first stepped outside his palace walls, I bet he didn t know that he took the first steps to starting a major world religion. Before I start on the cause and effect deal, I wanted to do a little research on Siddhartha Gautama, and that, ladies and gentlemen, is exactly what I did. I researched for about an hour, nearly missing my fencing class, but I found what I wanted. Siddhartha was born in a large clan called the Shakyas in Nepal, son of the leader of the tribe. As of custom, he married at the age of 16. They say his father didn t want him to see the suffering outside the palace walls. So when he was in his late 20s and early 30s, he finally went outside the walls. He was quickly exposed to the hardship of outside the walls. He saw a diseased man and a decaying corpse. So when he was 29, he left his wife and kids to live alone and try to figure out the source of human suffering. After a couple years of living solitary, he meditated and fasted nearly to starvation. Siddhartha thought he had found the way to end all universal suffering. He found a small group of other ascetics and they listened to his teachings. These were his first followers. Because he first stepped outside of the palace walls, as a result, he started his path to becoming Buddha. After a couple years, his followers multiplied, and the religion developed. • 36. Review Of The Handmaid s Tale Comparing a book to the movie that is a product of that book is always a difficult thing, but with The Handmaid s Tale the novel and movie were quite similar. Set in the near future, in a totalitarian society post overthrowing of the United States government, The Handmaid s Tale explores the idea that people will endure oppression willingly as long as they receive some slight amount of power or freedom in return. This can be seen prominently in both the film and novel. However, although the overall idea was the same, the way that it was perceived through the movie is drastically different than through the text version. In the novel there is a eminent absence of real names, and Handmaids are instead referred to by nicknames that signify the Commanders they serve. They reveal little to nothing about the Handmaids, except for the absence of their personal identities. Equivalently, although the Aunts have individual, feminine alias, they aren t their birth names either. Significantly, it s noticed in the novel that we were never given the name of Offred, nor her child. This differs from the movie greatly where the characters interact with each other considerably more than depicted in the paperback most likely to make the film more entertaining to watch, but greatly taking away from a main component of Atwood s story. To make what I believe is less confusing for viewers, characters were appointed names in the flick. For example, the protagonist and narrator of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Windows 8, which is to be available to consumers this fall, has been the company s hope to compete against Apple s dominance in the tablet market. Apple sold 3 million of its new iPad s in the first three days after its launch (Stern, 2012). Along with determination, innovation, and advantages is the recognition that Microsoft can do some very stupid and self defeating things. But the company has been in the tablet space for decades. In fact, you could argue that one reason Apple knew what would work is because Microsoft did so much of the advance work to eliminate what wouldn t. (Knuth, 1968) When looking at an Operating System one could often say that an Operating System is a large sum made up of small separate parts. Much like how Knuth describes computer science being the wall of mini stones . Hitchcock successfully created a mysterious and nerve stimulating atmosphere throughout the whole film, thus making this film a hit over the century. Mindy Cooper, an artist in residence at UC Davis, recreated this masterpiece but made a slightly different approach by inserting some comedic elements. On the other hand, the lighting designer Pamila Z. Gray works effectively with the rest of the creative team, and they bring out great and appealing effects for UC Davis version of The 39 Steps. Since most of the scenes take place at night time, Gray puts a lot of effort in creating the nighttime lighting. On both sides of the stage, there are two pipes with lighting instruments hanging. Gray uses orange lights for the first row and blue lights for the second row. The blue lights effectively notify the audience that the scenes take place at night, while the orange lights help to highlight the characters. It is a smart act using orange lights instead of tungsten lights since orange is the light of street light, so they can help to create a more realistic scene and make the audience think that this is a real life incident.
