For those who were born around the 80 s, they might have recalled how David Beckham really

now. It was started with the mohawk haircut to the nowadays men newsboy hat.
Yes, who would have though that this hat is now reaching its popularity, ever since David Beckham

First thing first, let s consider how men newsboy hat can fit men s common outfits. There was a
history of this hat, in which it was the most popular one among newspaper boys in the 80s.
These days, newspaper boys prefer to wear hats with basketball or baseball team logos. Even in
the 30s when the Great Depression was striking in the US, this hat was representing the lower class

Character Study Of Finding Dory
Just Keep Swimming:
Character Study of Finding Dory The story Finding Dory is about self determination. Dory,
besides her problem of short term memory, is serious to find her lost parents. No one can forget
Dory s motto of Just keep swimming when she was introduced in Finding Nemo, where she keeps
encouraging Marlin (Albert Brooks), Nemo s dad to keep going, no matter what the complications
are! Thus, Dory has been viewed as a strong character of self determination, who once makes up
her mind, tends to achieve her goal. Despite her short term memory loss, Dory (Ellen DeGeneres) is
determined to reunite with her family no matter what the obstacles in Finding Dory (2016).
Dory s personality is one of the most memorable characteristics of any Disney character which
will be remembered for years to come. Her attitude towards life shows that people should give
others time to express themselves and not judge immediately on the basis of their character and
appearance. Dory s friendly attitude is shown when she meets Hank (Ed O Neill) who is a color
changing octopus trying to flee from the Marine Life Institute which is located in Morro Bay,
California and wants to retire to an aquarium life in Cleveland, Ohio. Dory does not get scared
or judge Hank on basis of his looks, but instead greets him in a friendly manner and says Oh,
thank goodness. Hi, I m Dory. Another instance of Dory s friendly personality is when she
makes a deal with Hank that she will give him her identification tag if he takes her to the tank
where her parents are living. When Hank takes Dory to the Open Ocean exhibit, which is where
she remembers that she lived with her parents, he takes her to the top of the tank and the camera
zooms in on Dory exchanging the tag to Hank and tells him in heartfelt tone I think I m gonna
remember you. Her welcoming nature is one of her key attributes in the animated film and it
helps her, make her goal a reality. Her absent minded personality hurts her when she tries to
remember, where her parents would be. Her poor memory is shown when she tries to recall what
exhibit to go into and Hank believes that her forgetfulness is such a good and not bad thing when
he says, You re lucky. No memories. No

officers and their positions and responsibilities. The meeting then proceeded with information on
how to join and different volunteer events they participate. For example, they take part in
volunteering at the children s hospital as a group and also help tutor students at the elementary

Essay On Cannabis
Cannabis is the most prevalent illicit drug worldwide that was classified by the DEA as a schedule I
drug. Cannabis exhibits a combination of stimulant, depressant, and hallucinogenic properties.
Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is considered the primary active component of the cannabis plant
which contribute to cannabispsychosis properties, another active component of cannabis is
cannabidiol (CBD) which has anti anxiety and anti psychotic properties. Cannabis is consumed
in various way, for example cannabis can be inhaled from small pipes or smoked as bongs, joint, or

disorder. Individuals who showed any evidence of psychosis proneness are those who started
using cannabis in early adolescence because early adulthood is a period of time during which the

Florida according to treatment data. The number of cannabis related treatment admission per

Happiness Is The Result Of Happiness
Happiness is the result of luck, at least according to the people who invented the word way back
when. The word itself is rooted in luck; Darrin M. McMahon, Ph.D., a professor of history at
Dartmouth College, says that ... in every Indo European language, without exception... the word
happiness is a cognate with the word luck. Or, as a monk in Chaucer s Canterbury Tales put it, ...
the wheel of fortune controls our happenstance, and hence our happiness. He was not talking about
the Wheel of Fortune that s on at 6:00 pm every night where people spin a giant gaudy wheel
and solve word puzzles to win money. No, he meant the omniscient wheel of fortune that
controls every aspect of everyone s life. While the wheel of fortune spun freely in some parts of
the world, the road to happiness was included more resistance in other parts. Schools of Classical
thought famous philosophers with weird names like Plato and Socrates should come to mind
believed happiness was earned. Not only did they believe happiness was earned, they believed
that to achieve it, you had to go the extra mile (or 10 miles) with moral behavior. But once you
had moral behavior, by gosh your life could be going to hell in a handbasket and you d still be
happy. Today, in modern America, happiness is something that is worked for. Complete your
goals and happiness shall be yours. You may have to fall in a couple of ditches and break some
bones along the way, metaphorically and literally, but happiness is

2016 2017 MUSTANG Ford of America This section in the Ford website explains in full depths all
the new specs of the new 2016 2017 Ford Mustang. The Ford Mustang brings this year for
example the new eco boost system. The eco boost system has been never seen before in other
models. The traditional Mustang has always been produced in either a 6 cylinder engine or an 8
cylinder engine. Due to numbers in sales dropping since its 1964 model, Ford Company believes
that with its new 4 cylinder eco boost engine, sales will tend to increase. In a car market ruled by
electric cars and hybrid cars, today s society is preferring miles per gallon over everything. The
Ford webpage also states each engine delivers at least 300 horsepower. The 3.7L V6 offers up 300
horsepower and 280 pounds of torque, standard on V6 Fastback model. The 2.3L Eco Boost
engines brings out 310 horsepower and 320 pounds of torques. The 5.0L V8 kicks out at 435...

Organism Physiology: The Octopus
Bio/101
The cephalopodor octopus is a marine organism that inhabits many diverse regions of the ocean.
Its food source consists of crabs, small fish, clams, mussels and other marine animals. The octopus
is a predatory animal and has developed many skills to aid in its survival in the environment it has
adapted to.
The octopus has several main organs that are vital to its survival; the brain for its intelligence; the
ink sack for its defense; and the arms for capturing its prey. This paper will discuss these different
organs and how they have evolved physiologically to its environment. Unlike its other cousins in
the Mollusca family, octopuses have a considerably large brain in... Show more content on

When feeding in a treacherous environment both prey and predator must develop a varied range
of hunting and defense behaviors. Marine biologists that have studied cephalopods claim that their
subjects even have personalities and that octopuses engage in play, the deliberate, repeated,
outwardly useless activity through which smarter animals explore their world and refine their
skills (Scigliano, 2003). One scientist claims that her octopus even bubble surfs by spreading his
mantle out and letting the aerator jets from his tank run under his body (Scigliano, 2003). . Key
traits were noted out of 73 lab bred octopuses. Discoveries showed temperamental variations at
different maturity levels. Young octopuses tended to be active and aggressive whereas more
mature ones tended to be more alert and quick to react to danger (Scigliano, 2003). Evidence that
even though their lifespan is short their brain evolves and adapts quickly.
Around the mouth of the octopus are eight arms. The eight arms allow the octopus to move, crawl,
and swim around in its habitat. Octopuses crawl slowly, walking on its arms to move through the
water headfirst with the arms trailing behind. When necessary, octopuses can move fast using their
arms to propel it through the water similar to jet propulsion. The suckers found

Similarities Between Guyana And Suriname
Guyana and Suriname are neighbor countries, located on the Caribbean coast of South America
(see figure 1). Guyana was originally colonised by the Netherlands. Later, it became a British
colony and became independent in 1966 from the United Kingdom. With Suriname it was the other
way around: it was colonized by the English and the Dutch, but later captured by the Dutch who
governed Suriname until 1954. Guyana is a little bit bigger in size and population than Suriname
but Suriname has a higher gross domestic productper capita. Both countries also have similarities:
both have substantial different species due to the big rain forest they contain. However, Suriname is
according to the Environmental Performance Index (EPI) (2014) better in protecting human health

The Pardoner s Tale Hypocrisy
The middle ages served a crucial role in the development of British literature, as many authors
allowed their wok to be influenced by the time. Stories from this period are loaded with imagery of
castles and knights. Along with aesthetic inspiration many authors also filled their stories with
medieval life. They would often base their stories on the tales of knights and peasants. By
accurately showcasing medieval life many authors, whether purposefully or unknowingly, captured
a theme of hypocrisy. Knights from the time often emphasised their moral character to the public.
They boosted in saying that their actions where chivalrous and that they followed god s path,
however many of them were simply lying. Many significant figures from the dark ageswere
hypocrites, therefore hypocrisy is a common theme in medieval British lit. In order to accurately

The Relationship Between Religion and Ethics Essay
To answer this question, we must first understand what both ethics and morality are. As ethics is
defined as the philosophical study of morality, those who study religion get their moral precepts
from what they believe God says should be done. This perspective is not at all unexpected,
because all religions apply a perspective on morality. Morality is defined as beliefs concerning
right and wrong, good and bad beliefs that can include judgements, values, rules, principles, and
theories. Morals are what help us guide our actions, define our values, and give us reason for
being the person that we are. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, in 2009, over 228 million
Americans classified themselves as practicing some type of religion. Due to... Show more content

These religious codes of conduct, such as the Ten Commandments, are generally very broad
statements, elucidating only general principles that may be inconvenient to apply to each specific
case. Some religious moral codes may also contradict one another. These contradictions compel
religious believers to decipher religious directives or to draw out the implications of particular
views this is otherwise known as doing ethics. When conflicts such as moral contradictions and
inconsistencies arise, conversations including ethics and moral reasoning is the only way to solve
these inconsistencies. Those who are genuine devotees of a certain religion may question if their
religion s moral instructions make sense according to one another. In these distinct cases, intelligent
resolution of the claims can only be sorted out by putting in place an unbiased standard that can
classify the competing viewpoints. This is where ethics comes in as the neutrality in the form of
critical thinking, proficient arguments, and careful analysis. Any beneficial conversations about
morality that occur between those who practice religion and those who do not, or those with
different religions, must incorporate a common set of ethical concepts and a shared procedure for
resolving issues and making judgments, all of which ethics provides. It is also understood that in
these conversations moral positions on the issues

film production, the concept of there being a singular creative supervisor is debatable.
Nonetheless one cannot deny the existence and driving force of directional motifs and instances of
thematic and stylistic elements within the work of filmmakers like Tim Burton and Alfred
Hitchcock. These directors indicate that within traditions and genres lies the overall definition of
an auteur: a director whose inventive traits are listed throughout his or her work like a signature.

Article 2: Pornography, Sex Crime, and Public Policy by Berl Kutchinsky Berl Kutchinsky
applies an epidemiological study approach to describe the association between certain behaviors,
physical, and psychological health through observation of real world happenings via statistical
data. In this study, Kutchinsky examined countries such as Denmark, West Germany, Sweden, and
the USA. In this study, Kutchinsky proved that for the years between 1964 and 1984 when
pornography had become increasingly popular, sexual crimes such as rape had not increased;
instead, they had either decreased or remained constant. Denmark was the first of these countries
to legalize pornography although massive demonstrations and harsh laws were linked to
pornography in the US. Only in the US did sex crimes increase with increased availability of
pornographic material in 1970 and 1980. On the effect of pornography on sex crimes, Kutchinsky
(1991) argued that the claim that pornography could lead to serious sex crimes was the only
outstanding issue. He claimed that other issues such as alleged offenses such as degradation of
women, sexual callousness to women, encouraging sexual perversion, causing moral outrage, or
causing marital distress were deemed intangible, unsupported, and those that did called for a variety
of restrictions rather than total prohibition. Thus, this study greatly emphasized the issue of rape to

Josef Stalin is known throughout Russia for his legendry use of terror, political manipulation
and demanding policies who would stop at nothing to achieve his goals. However, the question
of the legitimacy of his position as leader of the Bolshevik party still remains. Following the
death of Lenin in 1924, a power vacuum developed within the Bolshevik party and it was clear
that a leadership race between candidates had begun. Stalin was able to rise above men like
Trotsky, Kamenev and Zinoviev to launch into new economic policies, collectivisation and

He used this information to choose certain people to fill key positions who wouldn t oppose his
policies. It created a solid mass of Stalin followers within the Bolshevik party who owed their
posts to Stalin and dared not oppose him. These Stalinists became crucial sources of support
during the mass purges of the party in later years. He had control over 700 party officials and the
secret police, a necessary tool to gain control over the majority of the Bolshevik party and the
purges that would later follow. Through this manipulation of elements within the communist
party and even before Lenin s death, Stalin built up vast local and national bases of support.
With this in mind, he could then use his power and influence to cut out any opposition. The
power vacuum created by Lenin s death gave rise for many of Stalin s opposition to challenge
his bid for power and leadership of the communist party. Leading up to Lenin s death, Trotsky
and Stalin recognised they were the two main contenders to take over the position as leader of
the Bolshevik party. Stalin started a campaign to discredit the ideological errors of his main rival

The Fall Of The House Of Usher And Other Tales
Many authors try to focus on one thing in their works, and some do succeed. However, others try
to bring out multiple faces of life through their creativity and styles of writing. In the Romantic
period of American literature, several ink slingers bring out specific motifs in their works. Edgar
Allen Poe in his collection, The Fall of the House of Usher and Other Tales , writes in a form that
betrays the Romantic style with his use of symbolism and his focus on the individual in his short

A major idea in Poe s tales is symbolism. He displays his penchant for this in his story The Cask of

Laramie Project Research Paper
The Laramie Project is a production that was created to addressed the cruel murder of 21 year old
Matthew Shepard who lived in a small town of Laramie, Wyoming. Due to this critical situation that
occurred, the state of Wyoming suffered from major judgements from other states in the U.S and
countries around the world. Laramie, had demonstrated stereotypical actions and discrimination
towards the gaycommunity, due to the people who had killed Matthew being homophobic. When
the incident occur in 1998, the legislative had not introduced the end to anti discrimination for the
society, but is now introduced this year, 2017(King, 2017). Sexual prejudice includes stereotyping,
prejudice, and discrimination based on ones sexual identity or behavior, in which this term can
relate to what occurred in the small town of Laramie, Wyoming (Blaine, pg. 163).

After the incident occurred, Matthew helped the gay community in Laramie, the society become
more mindful of who they really wanted to be and should fight for their rights. Although, Matthew
did a huge impact for the Laramie community, he could have still been alive today helping the gay
community around the world be free and end discrimination. What was hurtful to see when
watching the project was that, after the incident occurred there were people who did not care what
happened to Matthew and continue to protect disrespectful saying. Moreover, society nowadays are
not recognizing that the gay community tends to have the highest suicided rate, due to not being
accepted into their community and suffering from many stereotypes and discrimination. Because of
Matthew, he was able to open Laramie eyes and cause the society to help him finish what he

Health Care Reform Throughout The United States
Abstract
Health care reform and health care itself has been a debatable subject for quite some time. Health
care is a major issue that is found not only in the United States, but around the world. Controversy
has gone around this subject due to the causes and effects of the reform and the matter of not being
successful as many hoped. The World Prosperity Organization and the Institute of Medicinehave
two intriguing viewpoints about health care reform and what is needed to be done. The World
Prosperity Organization touches bases on medical negligence, premedical education, money,
mindset, medical school and the health care system itself. The Institute of Medicine focuses on the
need for healthcare to be safe, effective, patient centered, timely, efficient and equitable. As the
viewpoints are noticeably different, they still wrap around the idea that health care reform has
room for improvement to be more successful and not have a negative impact on people around the
world. The both agree that something needs to be done and done soon. Health Care Reform Health
care is an important topic that needs to be addressed more often and looked into more thoroughly.
For many years, and even today, our health care system in the United States has effected many and
been the cause of numerous cases throughout our country. It must be noted that this problem is not
just within our country but various countries around the world. This has caused many people,

Analysis A Look behind the Veil
Analysis Project of A Look Behind the Veil
Thesis statement: Middle Eastern and North African clothing culture is distinguished from other
cultures by the veil, a clothing that provokes many reactions from authors and debates between the
Western and Eastern people.
Subject:
The main topic of this text is the veil in North African and Middle Eastern regions. Western people
and Middle Eastern people do not share the same opinion about its use, while the occidental region
considers it as a simple cloth, sometimes it is even considered as humiliating, the Middle Eastern
region gives an important value to it due to its religious and historical significance. Many authors
from different countries debated about the pros and cons of wearing ... Show more content on

Concerning the social context, honor and respect are two significant values that the hijab
represents. By wearing the hijab, a woman is less likely to be attractive to men and being
approached by them, she creates a barrier that implements respect between her and another person,
by consequent, she preserves her sexual chastity and keeps the family s honor intact. This is an
important detail in the Middle East culture; honor is more a group matter than an individual matter,
and in this case, honor s family is related to women s sexual abstinence before marriage; in case
the honor is lost, it can t be regained.
Another aspect of the veil is the identity value, many women from different countries affirmed
they feel that the veil is part of them; it is so important for them that many women [...] feel self
conscious, vulnerable, and even naked when they first walked on a public street without the veil
[...] as if they were making a display of themselves paragraph 22
Despite all the values that the hijab is representing in different countries of the world, the only value
that is demanded is the egalitarianism and justice value, whether a woman is wearing the veil or
not, they are calling for equal access to divorce, child custody, and inheritance; equal opportunities
for education and employment; and abolition of

Use Of Language And Concepts Depicted Throughout The...
Expression is imperative to the human condition and is the primary reason why music has managed
to subside throughout the centuries in various forms. For many, music extends beyond rhythm and
beat, and is a means of communicating one s experiences and narrating those experiences to their
comprehension of the world. For African Americans, music was a symbol of cultural identity and a
way to translate the daily oppressions they were forced to endure. Insight and evidence into this is
depicted widely throughout the Spirituals and the Blues, where the hardships of slaveryand troubles
associated with being African Americanare greatly expressed. While African American music has
evolved and new genres have sprung into existence, differences in the ways that they
communicate and express themselves have arisen. However, some aspects have remained similar
and language usage has demonstrated a correlation between the two. The songs Soon I Will Be
Done and Trouble in Mind demonstrate how use of language and concepts depicted within the
Blues emits evidence to its emergence from the spirituals. In the spiritual Soon I Will Be Done ,
the writer discusses how the sufferings and difficulties that they are momentarily facing will
transcend into a distant memory due to the hope that is near. This hope is evidently God as the
writer clearly states Soon I will be done with the troubles of the world. Going home to live with
God . Throughout the Spiritual, the writer s circumstances are

Essay on Serial Killer Jeffrey Dahmer
Jeffrey Dahmer was born in Milwaukee on the 21st of May, 1960, to Lionel and Joyce Dahmer.
From a very young age Jeffrey was a normal young boy who showed no signs of any mental
problems. At a very young age Jeffrey began to develop an interest in dead animals when his
father found a number of dead animal bones while sweeping under the house. This didn t affect
the way he behaved until when he started going to preschool. Whilst attending preschool Jeffrey
was seen as a very shy boy, at the same time his interest in animals began to grow. When Jeffrey
was four years old his father found some dead animal bones under the house and Jeffrey enjoyed
playing with them and breaking them into pieces. This became an exciting experience to him...

His behavior became extreme as he began taking a bottle of whisky to school. In 1975 his
neighbours found a dog s head impaled on a stick and an animal s body attached to a tree.
According to (Masters, 1993) Jeffrey did not enjoy killing or inflicting pain towards live
animals but cutting the limbs off the animal. When Jeffrey reached his teenage hood, he began
having fantasies about killing and disfigure men which is believed to be why he began killing
his victims. (Stone, 2006) argued that Jeffrey suffered from mixed personalities. He fantasized
on having sex with copses where he most of his victims were met in gay bars and seduce them
with free alcohol or money. After having sex he would usually drug his victim or stab them and
then engages into sexual intercourse with the copse or masturbates over it (Miller, Vandome,
McBrewster). Jeffrey would disfigure his victim s corpse into small parts and pour acid on the
head to remove the flesh, where he would keep the skull as a trophy. At times he also kept his
victim s heart and other body parts which he would later on eat (Davis, 1991). (Davis, 1991)
argued that Jeffrey s crimes were committed because of how society rejected him. Jeffrey can be
seen as a (hedonistic) serial killer, someone who gets sexually aroused while committing the
murder (Holmes and Holmes, 2009). His murder victims were sexually abused; his victims were

increasing number of a sports scandal pertaining specifically to NFL players, case studies will

shown a higher rate of arrests specifically dealing with domestic violence (Pennington and Eder).
An example of a case we could examine would be the recent Ray Rice case. Other domestic

and Dez Bryant (Dallas). On top of looking at those specific cases, we will need to look at

occurred. Although not all cases are as consequently severe as Rice s, it is important to analyze
the previous cases to see if they have had any effect on viewership over the

Argumentative Essay On International Adoption
Did you know that international adoption is a real argument between people? International
adoption is a big topic between people; they either like it or hate it. Overall International adoption
should be more acceptable considering the cost, the benefits, and various country exchanges. The
history of international adoptioncomes from the Korean War. After the Korean War, Korean and
biracial orphans were placed with American families. It started around the 1950 s. Many times in
the past biological mothers would put their child up for adoption because of poverty, illness, or
family crisis. However, international adoptionhas dropped more than 60% in the past decade (
International Adoption Facts: What You Need to Know ). In 2016 there were 5,370
International Adoptions. Then in 2015 American families adopted 5,648 children alone from
other countries. In 2014 there were 6,438. In 2013 there were 7,092. In 2012 there were 8,667.
In 2011 there were 9,319. In 2010 there were 11,058. As you can see the rate of international
adoption is dropping every year by at least 1,000. This is caused because they are making it
harder to adopt internationally ( Travel.State.Gov. ). International adoption is a good choice
because most of the time the health of the children living in their home countries is not good.
Most of the time they are very sick and need to leave their country otherwise they will die. When
you go to pick up your child from their country, you can spend some time with your new kid
before you leave to bring them to your house. It is also a good choice because you will make a
big difference in a kid s life. In most of the adoptive cases you save the child s life ( 7 Reasons to
Adopt a Waiting Child Internationally ). It is also a good choice because if you can not have
your own kids, if you adopt internationally you don t have to struggle or pay for infertility.
International adoption is what most American families/people do because American adoption can
take over 2 3 years to be approved. Another good thing about international adoption is that you can
get financial aid to help with the cost of adoption. Basically the good quality of international
adoption is that it is a easier and faster

Respiratory Distress Syndrome Essay
Respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) is a breathing disorder that affects newborns. RDS rarely
occurs in full term infants. The disorder is more common in premature infants born about 6 weeks
or more before their due dates. It usually develops in the first 24 hours after birth. RDS is more
common in premature infants because their lungs aren t able to make enough surfactant. Surfactant
is a liquid that is produced from the alveolar type two cells and coat the inside of the lungs. It
breaks up the surface tension found within in the alveoli. Without enough surfactant, the alveoli
will stick together and the lungs will collapse, which means the infanthas to work much harder to
be able to breathe. He or she might not be able to breathe in enough oxygen to support the body s
organs. The lack of oxygen can damage the baby s brain and other organs if proper treatment isn t
given. According to an article titled What is the Respiratory Distress Syndrome by the National
Heart, Lung, and Blood Institution, states that In fact, nearly all infants born before 28 weeks of
pregnancy develop RDS (2012, p. 1). This paper will discuss the pathophysiologic problems,...

The world of the Witcher is dominated by dark themes and surreal monsters. Geralt of Rivia is
the main character and is a Witcher, a human manufactured through mutation and trained heavily
in order to fight monsters for coin. The world of the Witcher is also populated by small groups
of witches, sorcerers, sorceress (who I will refer to as mages) and usually held in high regard.
One of these mages came across ancient writing on tombstones and used his gained knowledge
and called them prophecies. One of the prophecies was the curse of the black sun, which was
said to be placed upon girls who were born during or shortly after an eclipse on a certain date.
The prophecy entailed that 60 girls born during this date would bring the fall of man, spread
corruption, and fill the world with demons. When the eclipse happened many mages hunted
down the young girls (sometimes still infants) and in most cases killed them and studied their
cadavers. If they children were of high birth the mages would either try to convince the family to
simply let the children go. If the family denied them they would explain that the children would
be evil hell children born with demons inside them. The children would then live out their life
and at the slightest mistake would be reprimanded harshly, abused, cast out of the home and
family, and even euthanized. This was the life of Renfri, whom I will be discussing specifically.
Renfri was born into a royal family (not much is said about her early life) and after her mother
passed away her father remarried. The step mother was cautious about Renfri and discovered that
she was born during the eclipse. The step mother began treating her much more harshly and
contacted a mage council in order to confirm that Renfri was indeed cursed. The stepmother and a

Henry Viii as a King, Evaluation
How far did Henry VIII achieve his aims as king between 1509 1514?
To an extent Henry VIII achieved his aims as King between 1509 1515. Whilst he achieved aims
such as to have glory in battle such as with France to earn prestige and therefore establish greater
power within the European countries, he did fail in some aspects with most set aim as king. An
example of this is his inability to produce a male heir to the throne which arguably was one of his
prime aims as king. One of Henry s main aims as king was to be a different leader in terms of his
style from that of his father; he wanted to be a more warlike leader who was more dominant
across Europe and also to be a generally more popular king. We know that this would have been...

As well as this he achieved his aim in cementing a good relationship with the Nobles by using
their armies. However in 1514 he was almost forced to sign a peace treaty because financially
England was desperate for money as henry in only one year had spent all his inherited money
(estimated at about ВЈ960000). This shows his somewhat lack of organisation as a king and more
his ruthlessness and desperation for war. Another factor detracting from the prestige of this war is
that Henry was used by Ferdinand and left by him at the last stage before the battle, so showing
dishonour by Ferdinand towards him. In aims such as securing the Tudor dynasty Henry didn t
really succeed. Although he did make attempts such as marrying Catherine of Aragonin order for
her to give Birth to a male Heir it didn t work. Unfortunately as king this was one of his most
important aims, we know this because he married Catherine the same year he was king and so it
was obviously of key importance to produce an heir. This having failed, as it did, Henry did still
try and secure the dynasty, by taking actions such as marrying his sister to the French King, Louis,

numerous anti racism organizations today. Failing to squander racism, the United States continues
to make bounds towards racial equality. Preceding the American Revolution racism plagued the

Explain The Three Branches Of Texas Government
The three branches of government of Texas: Introduction This paper will discuss about the three
branches of government of Texas. The government of Texas has its operations under the
constitution of Texas (Maxwell, Crain, Santos, 2013). It consists of a unitary democratic state of
government that applies the Dillon Rule as the County and municipal levels. The branches of the
Texas government consist of the executive branch, which consist of the governor, Lieutenant
governor and many others in that docket. The governor heads the executive branch and many other
leaders work under him/her. The executive branch system limits the power of the governor, but
does not do that to the secretary of the state. Elections of the executive officials are elected
independently and therefore they are answerable to the public independently and not to the
governor. In this kind of a branch of government I would have changed the power that the governor
has to appoint a committee that would solely rely on the on the governors decisions (Child). Rather
I would like that, that the committee members be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The house of representatives is consisted of around 150 members while the senate has a total
number of 31 members. The speaker of the house who is elected independently by the members
of the house heads the house. The legislature is a very powerful arm of the Texas government; it
also has a very strong constitutional connection with the Lieutenant Governor. If I were given a
chance to change something in this system of ruling, I would have changed the allowances that
the legislators are given for their mileage of 5 dollars to a value much higher because they have
many things that they are doing in the government. The indebtedness that the legislature receives
of $200, 000 is excessively low for the hard work of the legislators therefore I could change the

Why Did The British Rule
The first way that the British laid the foundations for their eventual colonial rule in India was by
establishing certain coastal factories in India. These centers had locals working and gathering
resources for the British company, which in my opinion, created a sense of the local Indian people
being subordinate to the British from the start, as the Indians were providing their own resources
for the benefit of the British. Additionally, the taking of the three capitals allowed the British to
make their presence known to the Indians, as well as spread their influence. Moreover, the strength
of the British military was very appealing to the Indian rulers. The Indian rulers valued the British
military because of their strength which meant that they could hold off enemies. Also, the Indians
were amazed by the loyalty the British had to their home country, making them appealing.... Show

Not only did Bengal have an abundance of resources that the British then controlled, but they were
able to control it while still making it appear as though the Indian ruler was in charge. One of the
important reasons the book points out that allowed the British to be to secure control in India was
their control of the seas. Because trade was primarily done by ships, the British had bragging
rights to the sea unlike its enemies. The British were able to secure their colonial rule in India by
creating certain regulations and defining racial lines. The British used historical Hindu and
Muslim rule to govern the two religious groups. This made the British seem like they were friends
to the Indians, while really creating deeper divisions in Indian society. Additionally, they created a
sense of British superiority to the Indians and a belief that the Indians needed to be civilized. When

The Emergence Of Applicant Tracking Systems ( Ats )
The emergence of applicant tracking systems (ATS) has gained a reputation beginning early in
the new millennium. The use of ATS gives companies a method to manage a mass amount of

a human resources management system. Two of the larger ATS is Taleo which is an Oracle

process. However, newer technology analyzes the words and looks for context and relevance
and can check where in someone s work history a skill was used. These techniques make it
harder to manipulate the system. Such tricks like filling your resume with keywords in white

to perform well in the ATS, and then when it is presented to a hiring manager it has to look good.
Social media has changed the way businesses work and recruit for new employees. Once hiring
managers get a hold of resumes, they look for ways to exclude

Amendment. After that, I will interpret some significant copyright acts that had been established
since it first started, but my main focus will be on the role of fair use in the Copyright Act of
1976, which set up the primary basis for the copyright laws in the United States. The investigation
will demonstrate how fair use relates to copyright matters in advertising, or commercial speech .
The conclusion will emphasize the significance of fair use in advertising.
The copyright law in America originated in the fifteenth century after England introduced the use of
the printing press. Due to the growth in the number of printing presses, the authorities began to seek

The Unbreakable Bond In American Horse By Louise Erdrich
The Unbreakable Bond
When families are torn apart, the pain can be devastating and last a lifetime. When a child is
removed from a home, they can t always comprehend why they were taken away. A child may
think they did something wrong. They may not realize that it is for their own good. In this case,
Buddy wants to stay with his mother, even though their living conditions are rudimentary. Louise
Erdrich s short story, American Horse, shows how a bond between a mother and her child can be
present in less than ideal circumstances.В° This is shown when Buddy hugs Albertine like a gorilla,
when he feels the satin roses, and the emergency chocolate bar.*
Buddy s relationship with his mother seems very strong. Buddy clearly loves his mother in many
ways. Erdrich explains that when Buddy tries to hug Albertine, she told him to stop hugging her
like a gorilla (17). Often, when children hug their parents, a special connection is made that can last
a lifetime. Sometimes when Buddy hugs his mother he would envision her saying, Let s get
married (17). Young children have a special bond with their parents and it isn t uncommon for a
child to want to marry one of them. That is part of the imagination of a young child. Also, a child s
imagination can have a deeper darker side. Erdrich displays that Buddy would have times when he
wished that she [Albertine] would die (17). Buddy hates himself for thinking those thoughts
knowing that someday his wish could come true. He embraces

Wu Cheng s The Journey To The West
Chapter one of Wu Cheng en s classical story, The Journey to the West, introduces the main
character, Monkey, by providing background information about his origin and early life. Monkey
lived equally along with gibbons and baboons who he considered his kin until he was appointed to
king of the Blessed Land of Flower Fruit Mountain. This transition from an unstructured, free will
society to an orderly kingdom portrays the social changes humans experienced when dynasties
arose in civilization. After Monkey gained the title of king, certain changes occurred. Immediately
after he claimed the position, his peers lined up according to rank and age , praising Monkey by
chanting, long live our great king (Cheng en, 177). The recently equal group... Show more content

Prior to Monkey becoming king, a poem in the beginning of the chapter claims they played two
games or three with pebbles and with pellets; they circled sandy pits, they built rare pagodas, they
chased dragonflies.... which are activities that allowed the population to live in a carefree, playful
environment (Cheng en, 174). After Monkey became king, their activities depended on the
season, which another poem portrays; In the spring they gathered flowers for food and drink. In
the summer they went in quest of fruits for sustenance. In the autumn they amassed taros and
chestnuts to ward off time. In the winter they searched for yellow sperms to live out the year
(Cheng en, 178). The newly civilized, ruled monkeys no longer roamed aimlessly playing with one
another, but had jobs that would ensure their survival. This societal change is also reflected in the
late Ming dynasties idea of radical individualism. In this time, the text argues that personal freedom
had been celebrated at the expense of social responsibility (World Literature, 169). The monkeys
now had responsibilities to attend to, likely with the king s instruction, when before they were

Describe The Relationship Between Eros And Philia
A fine line runs between a healthy, loving relationship, and a menial fling lacking the same
respect and commitment crucial to a meaningful partnership that fulfills the needs of the soul.
While all human desires are important aspect to address in a relationship, if the Greek ideals of
Eros and Philia are at war with one another rather than integrated together in a balanced manner. A
relationship described, without the balance between Eros and Philia, would not be one of
romance, but instead one of either unadulterated lust in the case of the focus being set on Eros, or
simply platonic, without any passion if the relationship is solely one of Philia (Moseley). Different
kinds of lovecan also be defined by how the fall on philosopher, Robert Sternberg s triangular model

The 1996 song released by the band Neutral Milk Hotel, Song Against Sex expresses the
frustrated sentiments experienced when the balance of a relationship lies almost solely in the
intimacy vertex of Sternberg s model, and is expressed predominantly through the passionate
strifes of Eros and a neglect of the compassion of Philia. The poet, Jeff Magnum, writes near the
end of the song, when all the pleasure points attacking all the looks of love were staged , which
describes how a couple can appear to be happy due to their physical needs being met. However
when the emotional needs of a couple are lacking, the relationship feels like a lie that you ve been

Effects Of Consumerism In The 1920s
The 1920s were a time of dramatic social and economic change in America. For the first time in
America s history, more people lived in cities than on farms due to industrialization. Labor laws
put in place after the Progressive Era not only raised hourly wages, but also gave workers more
free time. People had money to spend and plenty of time to spend it, which led to consumerism.
This era of consumerism took place from 1920 until 1929, Americans were challenging the
traditional ways of the past. Changes in traditional values led to tensions between old and new
generations. The tension was manifested in how society viewed women and consumerism. Women
didn t play the traditional role that they were expected to in the past which conflicted with how all
of society viewed women. The new eraof consumerism and buying on credit was seen as a luxury
to the younger generationand a waste to the older one, raising even more tension.
Traditional values were only taken seriously by the elders in society, and a new generation of
women began to emerge. These women drank alcohol, smoke cigarettes, cut their hair, and even
wore revealing clothing, society called them flappers. They were also experimenting sexually,
before marriage, which at the time was considered the worst sin. The older women and men in
society deeply disapproved of what was happening. They believed that nothing should change in
society, and that these women were corrupt. The New York Times published an article on

Summary Of Lucinda Matlock By Lgar Lee Masters
Living Life to The Fullest Life is all about what you make of it and how you go about your day.
People today take for granted for what they have because they do not know what to do with their
worth. How you look at the small things that mean the most is ultimately the way to happiness.
That is not saying that life is going to throw challenges your way, it is how you face them and fight
back. In the poem Lucinda Matlock, Edgar Lee Mastersuses imagery, repetition, and word choice
to reveal that while life may be difficult at times that does not mean that it can not be full of joy
and love. Living life to the fullest and finding the good out of something no matter how hard it
may seem, is the key to the process. Throughout the entire poem, imagery is one of the literary
devices that Masters mainly uses. Imagery is defined as a, Language that speaks to the senses.
Most often, poetic images appeal to sight, but they can appeal to hearing, touch, smell, and taste,
as well (Handout). Imagery creates an image in your head of what the author is trying to explain,
such as what Matlock loves, displayed in the quote: ...I spun, I wove, I kept the house, I nursed the
sick, I made the garden, and for the holiday Rambled over the fields where they sang the larks, And
by Spoon River gathering many a shell,
And many a flower and medicinal weed
Shouting to the wooded hills, singing to the green valleys. (10 15).

Key Messages Of The Foundation Phase Curriculum
Introduction This assignment will be exploring how the key messages of the Foundation Phase
are applied throughout all aspects of the curriculum. It will analyse childhood theorists sentiments
about the Foundation Phase, the notion of play in learning, both indoor and outdoor, and
Personal Social Development, Well Being and Cultural Diversity. The Foundation Phase is
constructed to provide consistency to each child s education during a crucial stage of their
development. However, the consistency does not affect the challenge of the curriculum: Children
are given more opportunities to enhance their knowledge through practical activities, open ended
questions and problem solving. The proposals made up by the Welsh Assembly Government
[WAG] for the Foundation Phase included a curriculum that reinforced and enhanced those put
in practice by the Awdurdod Cymwysterau, Cwricwlum ac Asesu Cymru s [ACCAC] document
Desirable Outcomes for Children s Learning Before Compulsory School Age (2000) . (DCELLS,
2008b) The Foundation Phase curriculum is a legal requirement by means of an Order
(DCELLS, 2008b). The curriculum, produced by the WAG, was implemented progressively to
allow schools to fuse and allow the children to settle with the Foundation Phase. Dcells 2008b

that the company was guilty of violating the Sherman Antitrust Act. After a long trial, the court
prohibited the company from enjoying interstate trade until conditions were corrected. It went

Primordial Soup Hypothesis: J.B.S Haldane was the scientist that was involved in this hypothesis.
This theory was presented in 1920. The claim made by J.B.S Haldane is that the building blocks of
life originated from molecules which were formatted in the atmosphere with no oxygen. This,

Apology Essay
I am not so certain if Socrates approach to his defense is particularly the brightest one, and it
certainly is not an apology as the title has named it, but, there is a certain wisdom in the simple,
plain structured arguments he presents. One of the first things he mentions, is for the jury to
pardon him, in the case that he should slip into his accustomed way of speaking, just as they
would pardon a foreigner for speaking in his accustomed manner. This appears to me to be a
wise idea, as it is true, even in today s society that we tend to judge people on face value. People
who do not speak English well, as Socrates would not have spoken quot;court language quot; very
well, tend to be jusdged as stupid. Socrates next pointsout that... Show more content on

He points this out, thus probably causing the jury to examine themselves, to realize that they may
have already convicted him before he even spoke, and to actually listen to what he says afterward.
Through all of this, Socrates continues to claim that he is not wise. This brings into question what
the real deffinition of wise is. In Socrates case, he claims that he is not wise, and the oracle must
have been referring to him as wise because he knows that he knows nothing for certain. The irony
of this, is that he claims to know nothing, and then proves every man he questions or talks to, to
know even less than him, or at least not more than Socrates.
From a scientific point of view, I can completely understand this way of thinking, that the only way
to be wise is to question everything. In science, you must question everything, and accept nothing as
complete truth. If scientists had accepted without question that the sun revolved around the earth,
or that life spontaneously generated from non living matter, would we be the technological scince
rich society we are today? In science, you cannot blindly accept knowledge without first
investigating it. This is what Socrates is doing, except on a larger scale. He is taking all
knowledge, and examining it.

Examples Of Tension In A View From The Bridge
3. How does Arthur Miller create a sense of tension and conflict at the end of Act 1 of A view from
the bridge
The play script A view from the bridge is written by Arthur Miller. The play was based around on
the exodus of Europeans that hope of living the American dream . During this period, Italians had
been treated with low paid jobs mainly because of a racist reasoning that Italians are unintelligent
of nature and are just strong men. An Italian family had gotten news of their cousins are coming

I m ashamed. Paper Doll they call him. Blondie now. I mean if you close the paper fast you could

fond of the law itself. Eddie doesn t know how to talk to a lawyer and sometimes get lost with his
words not knowing what to say or whether it makes sense. Eddie is trying his very best to get
Rodolpho out of his and his daughter s life.
To conclude, Alfieri creates tension and conflict in the act by making the community of the play
turn against Eddie. Eddie brought his downfall towards himself which is part of the Greek Tragedy.
Eddie is betrayed by the community in which he lives in. Towards the ending of the play, violence
erupts and Marco, with rage, stabs Eddie. Marco s representation of the Italian law is opposite of
than what Alfieri viewed, they both represent an honor. The actions taken by Eddie agitates both

Ethics and Morality in Vegetarianism
The assumption that animals are without rights, and the illusion that their treatment has no moral
significance is a positively outrageous example of Western crudity and barbarity. Universal
compassion is the only guarantee of morality. (Schopenhauer). I always wondered why some
people are not so drawn to the consumption of meat and fed up with only one thought about it.
Why so many people loathe of blood, and why so few people can easily kill and be slaughter
animal, until they just get used to it? This reaction should say something about the most important
moments in the code, which was programmed in the human psyche. Realization the necessity of
refraining from meat is especially difficult because people consume it for a long time,... Show more

An ancient Greek philosopher and scientist Pythagoras was convinced that whoever kills an
animal without any remorse can easily kill a man. Other philosophers were even more
straightforward and indicated that cruelty to animals leads to wars. It leads me to believe that
the attitude towards animals is not something we can merely write off as a showcase of the
innate cruelty of man , but an indicator of our society s ethical level. If more people become
aware of the suffering and death of animals that we, as a people, have caused, and acknowledge it,
it would be a small, but significant sign of moral growth. Although moral principles have gained
increasing recognition due to their usefulness for the society, i.e. for pragmatic reasons, the
evolution of ethics had different roots psychological and spiritual. It is based on the person s ability
for empathy: which is the basis of moral behavior of a person, his kindness, and decency. It can be
argued that the ability for empathy separates man from the world of animals. With the development
of spirituality and feelings of compassion, people began to feel uncomfortable by the fact that their
actions were constantly associated with the infliction of suffering to other beings, and even their
death. Even in ancient times, high minds have concluded that man,

Patrick Lencioni s Three Signs Of A Miserable Job
THREE SIGNS OF A MISERABLE JOB DISCUSSION QUESTIONS 1.Is a miserable job different
than a bad job? If so, in what ways? A miserable job is not the same as a bad job. According to
Patrick Lencioni, what is considered a bad job varies from person to person. Lencioni states,
Some people consider a job bad because it is physically demanding or exhausting, involving long
hours in the hot sun. Others see it as one that doesn t pay well. Still others call a job bad because
it requires a long commute or a great deal of time sitting behind a desk. It really depends on who
you are and what you value and enjoy. A miserable job differs from a bad job because instead of
disliking parts of your job you job is physically and emotionally draining you. Lencioni states
that, [A miserable job is] the one you dread going to and can t wait to leave. It s the one that saps

Luke s Three Dimensions of Power
Luke s Three Dimensions of Power
Power serves to create power. Powerlessness serves to re enforce powerlessness
(Gaventa,1980:256). Such is the essence of the on going relationship between the Powerful and
the Powerless of the Appalachian Valley where acquiescence of the repressed has become not only
common practice but a way of life and a means of survival. In his novel Power and Powerlessness,
John
Gaventa examines the oppressive and desperate situation of the Appalachian coal miners under the
autocratic power of absentee land owners, local elites, and corrupt union leaders. His analyses is
based on Lukes three dimensional understanding of power from his book Power: A Radical View.

Both Lukes and Gaventa put forward the notion that restricting your analyses of a power situation
to the one dimensional model can skew your conclusions. If you limit yourself to this approach
your study will be impaired by a pluralistic biased view of power. Where the first dimension sees
power in its manifest functions of decision making over key issues raising observable conflict
due to policies raised through political participation, it ignores the unobservable mechanisms of
power that are sometimes just as or even more important. Many times power is exercised to
prevent an issue from being raised and to discourage participation in the political arena. Potential
issues and grievances are therefore not voiced and to assume this means that they do not exist
would be an outright deviation from fact. By restricting analyses to what is expressed and to
observable behaviour and overt conflict only, you miss any preference not expressed because of
fear of sanctions, manipulation, coercion and force. This critique of the behaviourial focus and
the recognition of unobservable factors of power is discussed in the two dimensional view of
power developed by Bachrach and Baratz by which power is exercised not just upon participants
within the decision making process

  • 4. Character Study Of Finding Dory Just Keep Swimming: Character Study of Finding Dory The story Finding Dory is about self determination. Dory, besides her problem of short term memory, is serious to find her lost parents. No one can forget Dory s motto of Just keep swimming when she was introduced in Finding Nemo, where she keeps encouraging Marlin (Albert Brooks), Nemo s dad to keep going, no matter what the complications are! Thus, Dory has been viewed as a strong character of self determination, who once makes up her mind, tends to achieve her goal. Despite her short term memory loss, Dory (Ellen DeGeneres) is determined to reunite with her family no matter what the obstacles in Finding Dory (2016). Dory s personality is one of the most memorable characteristics of any Disney character which will be remembered for years to come. Her attitude towards life shows that people should give others time to express themselves and not judge immediately on the basis of their character and appearance. Dory s friendly attitude is shown when she meets Hank (Ed O Neill) who is a color changing octopus trying to flee from the Marine Life Institute which is located in Morro Bay, California and wants to retire to an aquarium life in Cleveland, Ohio. Dory does not get scared or judge Hank on basis of his looks, but instead greets him in a friendly manner and says Oh, thank goodness. Hi, I m Dory. Another instance of Dory s friendly personality is when she makes a deal with Hank that she will give him her identification tag if he takes her to the tank where her parents are living. When Hank takes Dory to the Open Ocean exhibit, which is where she remembers that she lived with her parents, he takes her to the top of the tank and the camera zooms in on Dory exchanging the tag to Hank and tells him in heartfelt tone I think I m gonna remember you. Her welcoming nature is one of her key attributes in the animated film and it helps her, make her goal a reality. Her absent minded personality hurts her when she tries to remember, where her parents would be. Her poor memory is shown when she tries to recall what exhibit to go into and Hank believes that her forgetfulness is such a good and not bad thing when he says, You re lucky. No memories. No ... • 7. Happiness Is The Result Of Happiness Happiness is the result of luck, at least according to the people who invented the word way back when. The word itself is rooted in luck; Darrin M. McMahon, Ph.D., a professor of history at Dartmouth College, says that ... in every Indo European language, without exception... the word happiness is a cognate with the word luck. Or, as a monk in Chaucer s Canterbury Tales put it, ... the wheel of fortune controls our happenstance, and hence our happiness. He was not talking about the Wheel of Fortune that s on at 6:00 pm every night where people spin a giant gaudy wheel and solve word puzzles to win money. No, he meant the omniscient wheel of fortune that controls every aspect of everyone s life. While the wheel of fortune spun freely in some parts of the world, the road to happiness was included more resistance in other parts. Schools of Classical thought famous philosophers with weird names like Plato and Socrates should come to mind believed happiness was earned. Not only did they believe happiness was earned, they believed that to achieve it, you had to go the extra mile (or 10 miles) with moral behavior. But once you had moral behavior, by gosh your life could be going to hell in a handbasket and you d still be happy. Today, in modern America, happiness is something that is worked for. Complete your goals and happiness shall be yours. You may have to fall in a couple of ditches and break some bones along the way, metaphorically and literally, but happiness is ... When feeding in a treacherous environment both prey and predator must develop a varied range of hunting and defense behaviors. Marine biologists that have studied cephalopods claim that their subjects even have personalities and that octopuses engage in play, the deliberate, repeated, outwardly useless activity through which smarter animals explore their world and refine their skills (Scigliano, 2003). One scientist claims that her octopus even bubble surfs by spreading his mantle out and letting the aerator jets from his tank run under his body (Scigliano, 2003). . Key traits were noted out of 73 lab bred octopuses. Discoveries showed temperamental variations at different maturity levels. Young octopuses tended to be active and aggressive whereas more mature ones tended to be more alert and quick to react to danger (Scigliano, 2003). Evidence that even though their lifespan is short their brain evolves and adapts quickly. Around the mouth of the octopus are eight arms. The eight arms allow the octopus to move, crawl, and swim around in its habitat. Octopuses crawl slowly, walking on its arms to move through the water headfirst with the arms trailing behind. They would often base their stories on the tales of knights and peasants. By accurately showcasing medieval life many authors, whether purposefully or unknowingly, captured a theme of hypocrisy. Knights from the time often emphasised their moral character to the public. • 12. The Relationship Between Religion and Ethics Essay To answer this question, we must first understand what both ethics and morality are. As ethics is defined as the philosophical study of morality, those who study religion get their moral precepts from what they believe God says should be done. This perspective is not at all unexpected, because all religions apply a perspective on morality. Morality is defined as beliefs concerning right and wrong, good and bad beliefs that can include judgements, values, rules, principles, and theories. Morals are what help us guide our actions, define our values, and give us reason for being the person that we are. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, in 2009, over 228 million Americans classified themselves as practicing some type of religion. Due to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These religious codes of conduct, such as the Ten Commandments, are generally very broad statements, elucidating only general principles that may be inconvenient to apply to each specific case. Some religious moral codes may also contradict one another. These contradictions compel religious believers to decipher religious directives or to draw out the implications of particular views this is otherwise known as doing ethics. When conflicts such as moral contradictions and inconsistencies arise, conversations including ethics and moral reasoning is the only way to solve these inconsistencies. Those who are genuine devotees of a certain religion may question if their religion s moral instructions make sense according to one another. In these distinct cases, intelligent resolution of the claims can only be sorted out by putting in place an unbiased standard that can classify the competing viewpoints. This is where ethics comes in as the neutrality in the form of critical thinking, proficient arguments, and careful analysis. Any beneficial conversations about morality that occur between those who practice religion and those who do not, or those with different religions, must incorporate a common set of ethical concepts and a shared procedure for resolving issues and making judgments, all of which ethics provides. It is also understood that in these conversations moral positions on the issues ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Article 2: Pornography, Sex Crime, and Public Policy by Berl Kutchinsky Berl Kutchinsky applies an epidemiological study approach to describe the association between certain behaviors, physical, and psychological health through observation of real world happenings via statistical data. In this study, Kutchinsky examined countries such as Denmark, West Germany, Sweden, and the USA. In this study, Kutchinsky proved that for the years between 1964 and 1984 when pornography had become increasingly popular, sexual crimes such as rape had not increased; instead, they had either decreased or remained constant. Denmark was the first of these countries to legalize pornography although massive demonstrations and harsh laws were linked to pornography in the US. Only in the US did sex crimes increase with increased availability of pornographic material in 1970 and 1980. On the effect of pornography on sex crimes, Kutchinsky (1991) argued that the claim that pornography could lead to serious sex crimes was the only outstanding issue. He claimed that other issues such as alleged offenses such as degradation of women, sexual callousness to women, encouraging sexual perversion, causing moral outrage, or causing marital distress were deemed intangible, unsupported, and those that did called for a variety of restrictions rather than total prohibition. Thus, this study greatly emphasized the issue of rape to represent sexual crimes, as this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Josef Stalin is known throughout Russia for his legendry use of terror, political manipulation and demanding policies who would stop at nothing to achieve his goals. However, the question of the legitimacy of his position as leader of the Bolshevik party still remains. Following the death of Lenin in 1924, a power vacuum developed within the Bolshevik party and it was clear that a leadership race between candidates had begun. Stalin was able to rise above men like Trotsky, Kamenev and Zinoviev to launch into new economic policies, collectivisation and industrialisation. He had control over 700 party officials and the secret police, a necessary tool to gain control over the majority of the Bolshevik party and the purges that would later follow. Through this manipulation of elements within the communist party and even before Lenin s death, Stalin built up vast local and national bases of support. With this in mind, he could then use his power and influence to cut out any opposition. The power vacuum created by Lenin s death gave rise for many of Stalin s opposition to challenge his bid for power and leadership of the communist party. Western people and Middle Eastern people do not share the same opinion about its use, while the occidental region considers it as a simple cloth, sometimes it is even considered as humiliating, the Middle Eastern region gives an important value to it due to its religious and historical significance. By wearing the hijab, a woman is less likely to be attractive to men and being approached by them, she creates a barrier that implements respect between her and another person, by consequent, she preserves her sexual chastity and keeps the family s honor intact. This is an important detail in the Middle East culture; honor is more a group matter than an individual matter, and in this case, honor s family is related to women s sexual abstinence before marriage; in case the honor is lost, it can t be regained. • 24. Use Of Language And Concepts Depicted Throughout The... Expression is imperative to the human condition and is the primary reason why music has managed to subside throughout the centuries in various forms. For many, music extends beyond rhythm and beat, and is a means of communicating one s experiences and narrating those experiences to their comprehension of the world. For African Americans, music was a symbol of cultural identity and a way to translate the daily oppressions they were forced to endure. Insight and evidence into this is depicted widely throughout the Spirituals and the Blues, where the hardships of slaveryand troubles associated with being African Americanare greatly expressed. While African American music has evolved and new genres have sprung into existence, differences in the ways that they communicate and express themselves have arisen. However, some aspects have remained similar and language usage has demonstrated a correlation between the two. The songs Soon I Will Be Done and Trouble in Mind demonstrate how use of language and concepts depicted within the Blues emits evidence to its emergence from the spirituals. In the spiritual Soon I Will Be Done , the writer discusses how the sufferings and difficulties that they are momentarily facing will transcend into a distant memory due to the hope that is near. This hope is evidently God as the writer clearly states Soon I will be done with the troubles of the world. Going home to live with God . Throughout the Spiritual, the writer s circumstances are ... International adoption is a big topic between people; they either like it or hate it. Overall International adoption should be more acceptable considering the cost, the benefits, and various country exchanges. The history of international adoptioncomes from the Korean War. After the Korean War, Korean and biracial orphans were placed with American families. It started around the 1950 s. Many times in the past biological mothers would put their child up for adoption because of poverty, illness, or family crisis. However, international adoptionhas dropped more than 60% in the past decade ( International Adoption Facts: What You Need to Know ). In 2016 there were 5,370 International Adoptions. Then in 2015 American families adopted 5,648 children alone from other countries. In 2014 there were 6,438. In 2013 there were 7,092. In 2012 there were 8,667. In 2011 there were 9,319. In 2010 there were 11,058. As you can see the rate of international adoption is dropping every year by at least 1,000. This is caused because they are making it harder to adopt internationally ( Travel.State.Gov. ). International adoption is a good choice because most of the time the health of the children living in their home countries is not good. Most of the time they are very sick and need to leave their country otherwise they will die. When you go to pick up your child from their country, you can spend some time with your new kid before you leave to bring them to your house. It is also a good choice because you will make a big difference in a kid s life. In most of the adoptive cases you save the child s life ( 7 Reasons to Adopt a Waiting Child Internationally ). It is also a good choice because if you can not have your own kids, if you adopt internationally you don t have to struggle or pay for infertility. International adoption is what most American families/people do because American adoption can take over 2 3 years to be approved. Another good thing about international adoption is that you can get financial aid to help with the cost of adoption. Basically the good quality of international adoption is that it is a easier and faster ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Respiratory Distress Syndrome Essay Respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) is a breathing disorder that affects newborns. RDS rarely occurs in full term infants. The disorder is more common in premature infants born about 6 weeks or more before their due dates. It usually develops in the first 24 hours after birth. RDS is more common in premature infants because their lungs aren t able to make enough surfactant. Surfactant is a liquid that is produced from the alveolar type two cells and coat the inside of the lungs. It breaks up the surface tension found within in the alveoli. Without enough surfactant, the alveoli will stick together and the lungs will collapse, which means the infanthas to work much harder to be able to breathe. He or she might not be able to breathe in enough oxygen to support the body s organs. The lack of oxygen can damage the baby s brain and other organs if proper treatment isn t given. One of these mages came across ancient writing on tombstones and used his gained knowledge and called them prophecies. One of the prophecies was the curse of the black sun, which was said to be placed upon girls who were born during or shortly after an eclipse on a certain date. The prophecy entailed that 60 girls born during this date would bring the fall of man, spread corruption, and fill the world with demons. When the eclipse happened many mages hunted down the young girls (sometimes still infants) and in most cases killed them and studied their cadavers. If they children were of high birth the mages would either try to convince the family to simply let the children go. If the family denied them they would explain that the children would be evil hell children born with demons inside them. • 33. Explain The Three Branches Of Texas Government The three branches of government of Texas: Introduction This paper will discuss about the three branches of government of Texas. The government of Texas has its operations under the constitution of Texas (Maxwell, Crain, Santos, 2013). It consists of a unitary democratic state of government that applies the Dillon Rule as the County and municipal levels. The branches of the Texas government consist of the executive branch, which consist of the governor, Lieutenant governor and many others in that docket. The governor heads the executive branch and many other leaders work under him/her. The executive branch system limits the power of the governor, but does not do that to the secretary of the state. Elections of the executive officials are elected independently and therefore they are answerable to the public independently and not to the governor. In this kind of a branch of government I would have changed the power that the governor has to appoint a committee that would solely rely on the on the governors decisions (Child). Rather I would like that, that the committee members be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If I were given a chance to change something in this system of ruling, I would have changed the allowances that the legislators are given for their mileage of 5 dollars to a value much higher because they have many things that they are doing in the government. These centers had locals working and gathering resources for the British company, which in my opinion, created a sense of the local Indian people being subordinate to the British from the start, as the Indians were providing their own resources for the benefit of the British. Additionally, the taking of the three capitals allowed the British to make their presence known to the Indians, as well as spread their influence. Moreover, the strength of the British military was very appealing to the Indian rulers. The Indian rulers valued the British military because of their strength which meant that they could hold off enemies. Because trade was primarily done by ships, the British had bragging rights to the sea unlike its enemies. The British were able to secure their colonial rule in India by creating certain regulations and defining racial lines. The British used historical Hindu and Muslim rule to govern the two religious groups. This made the British seem like they were friends to the Indians, while really creating deeper divisions in Indian society. I believe intellectual laws are as important as any other law because it defines the ethical aspect of the three core values of the United States of America liberty, freedom and democracy. Copyrightlaw is an intellectual law that grants ownership to the author and protects the author from copyright infringement. This paper will discuss how copyright law was established, and how the establishment influences advertising. I begin by examining the history of copyright before it became a constitutional law. I will also explain why the copyright is protected under the First Amendment. After that, I will interpret some significant copyright acts that had been established since it first started, but my main focus will be on the role of fair use in the Copyright Act of 1976, which set up the primary basis for the copyright laws in the United States. The investigation will demonstrate how fair use relates to copyright matters in advertising, or commercial speech . The conclusion will emphasize the significance of fair use in advertising. When a child is removed from a home, they can t always comprehend why they were taken away. A child may think they did something wrong. They may not realize that it is for their own good. In this case, Buddy wants to stay with his mother, even though their living conditions are rudimentary. Louise Erdrich s short story, American Horse, shows how a bond between a mother and her child can be present in less than ideal circumstances.В° This is shown when Buddy hugs Albertine like a gorilla, when he feels the satin roses, and the emergency chocolate bar.* Buddy s relationship with his mother seems very strong. Buddy clearly loves his mother in many ways. Erdrich explains that when Buddy tries to hug Albertine, she told him to stop hugging her like a gorilla (17). Often, when children hug their parents, a special connection is made that can last a lifetime. Sometimes when Buddy hugs his mother he would envision her saying, Let s get married (17). Young children have a special bond with their parents and it isn t uncommon for a child to want to marry one of them. That is part of the imagination of a young child. Also, a child s imagination can have a deeper darker side. Erdrich displays that Buddy would have times when he wished that she [Albertine] would die (17). This transition from an unstructured, free will society to an orderly kingdom portrays the social changes humans experienced when dynasties arose in civilization. After Monkey became king, their activities depended on the season, which another poem portrays; In the spring they gathered flowers for food and drink. In the winter they searched for yellow sperms to live out the year (Cheng en, 178). The newly civilized, ruled monkeys no longer roamed aimlessly playing with one another, but had jobs that would ensure their survival. This societal change is also reflected in the late Ming dynasties idea of radical individualism. For the first time in America s history, more people lived in cities than on farms due to industrialization. Labor laws put in place after the Progressive Era not only raised hourly wages, but also gave workers more free time. People had money to spend and plenty of time to spend it, which led to consumerism. This era of consumerism took place from 1920 until 1929, Americans were challenging the traditional ways of the past. Changes in traditional values led to tensions between old and new generations. The tension was manifested in how society viewed women and consumerism. Women didn t play the traditional role that they were expected to in the past which conflicted with how all of society viewed women. The new eraof consumerism and buying on credit was seen as a luxury to the younger generationand a waste to the older one, raising even more tension. Traditional values were only taken seriously by the elders in society, and a new generation of women began to emerge. These women drank alcohol, smoke cigarettes, cut their hair, and even wore revealing clothing, society called them flappers. They were also experimenting sexually, before marriage, which at the time was considered the worst sin. The older women and men in society deeply disapproved of what was happening. • 42. Summary Of Lucinda Matlock By Lgar Lee Masters Living Life to The Fullest Life is all about what you make of it and how you go about your day. People today take for granted for what they have because they do not know what to do with their worth. How you look at the small things that mean the most is ultimately the way to happiness. That is not saying that life is going to throw challenges your way, it is how you face them and fight back. In the poem Lucinda Matlock, Edgar Lee Mastersuses imagery, repetition, and word choice to reveal that while life may be difficult at times that does not mean that it can not be full of joy and love. Living life to the fullest and finding the good out of something no matter how hard it may seem, is the key to the process. Throughout the entire poem, imagery is one of the literary devices that Masters mainly uses. Imagery is defined as a, Language that speaks to the senses. Most often, poetic images appeal to sight, but they can appeal to hearing, touch, smell, and taste, as well (Handout). Imagery creates an image in your head of what the author is trying to explain, such as what Matlock loves, displayed in the quote: ...I spun, I wove, I kept the house, I nursed the sick, I made the garden, and for the holiday Rambled over the fields where they sang the larks, And by Spoon River gathering many a shell, And many a flower and medicinal weed Shouting to the wooded hills, singing to the green valleys. • 43. Key Messages Of The Foundation Phase Curriculum Introduction This assignment will be exploring how the key messages of the Foundation Phase are applied throughout all aspects of the curriculum. It will analyse childhood theorists sentiments about the Foundation Phase, the notion of play in learning, both indoor and outdoor, and Personal Social Development, Well Being and Cultural Diversity. The Foundation Phase is constructed to provide consistency to each child s education during a crucial stage of their development. However, the consistency does not affect the challenge of the curriculum: Children are given more opportunities to enhance their knowledge through practical activities, open ended questions and problem solving. The proposals made up by the Welsh Assembly Government [WAG] for the Foundation Phase included a curriculum that reinforced and enhanced those put in practice by the Awdurdod Cymwysterau, Cwricwlum ac Asesu Cymru s [ACCAC] document Desirable Outcomes for Children s Learning Before Compulsory School Age (2000) . (DCELLS, 2008b) The Foundation Phase curriculum is a legal requirement by means of an Order (DCELLS, 2008b). The curriculum, produced by the WAG, was implemented progressively to allow schools to fuse and allow the children to settle with the Foundation Phase. One of the first things he mentions, is for the jury to pardon him, in the case that he should slip into his accustomed way of speaking, just as they would pardon a foreigner for speaking in his accustomed manner. This appears to me to be a wise idea, as it is true, even in today s society that we tend to judge people on face value. In Socrates case, he claims that he is not wise, and the oracle must have been referring to him as wise because he knows that he knows nothing for certain. The irony of this, is that he claims to know nothing, and then proves every man he questions or talks to, to know even less than him, or at least not more than Socrates. From a scientific point of view, I can completely understand this way of thinking, that the only way to be wise is to question everything. In science, you must question everything, and accept nothing as complete truth. If scientists had accepted without question that the sun revolved around the earth, or that life spontaneously generated from non living matter, would we be the technological scince rich society we are today? If more people become aware of the suffering and death of animals that we, as a people, have caused, and acknowledge it, it would be a small, but significant sign of moral growth. Although moral principles have gained increasing recognition due to their usefulness for the society, i.e. for pragmatic reasons, the evolution of ethics had different roots psychological and spiritual. It is based on the person s ability for empathy: which is the basis of moral behavior of a person, his kindness, and decency. It can be argued that the ability for empathy separates man from the world of animals.
