Whitney Steward s Who Was Walt Disney
Walt Disney, the person who created Mickey Mouse, the guy who started full length animated
movies, the one who made Disneyland and millions from it, is also the over worked, stressed,
crabby boss. Oh, you didn t know that? My goal in writing this paper is to provide information
so you can know who Walt Disney was. On December 5, 1901, Walter Elias Disney was born in
an upstairs bedroom of a two story cottage on North Trip Avenue in Chicago. This was written in
Who Was Walt Disney? by Whitney Steward and is also the beginning of the story of Walt Disney.
Walt was born to Elias Disney and Flora Call Disney who already had 3 children; Roy O. Disney,
Raymond Arnold Disney, and Herbert Arthur Disney until Ruth Flora Disney was born, the
youngest child and the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to biography.com, On December 21, 1937, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the
first full length animated film, premiered in Los Angeles. It produced an unimaginable $1.499
million, in spite of the Depression, and won a total of eight Oscars. Walt Disney also held the
patient for colored movies for two years making him the only one to create colored animated
movies. Over the next couple of years, Walt Disney Studios made some other big movies you
may have heard of. They are called, Pinocchio, Dumbo, Bambi, and Fantasia. However, in 1939,
Disney bought a new campus for the workers but they didn t like it and most of them resigned or
went on strike. But just like always Walt refused to give up and by 1950 he was back making
animated movies. Cinderella came out and was huge, and was followed by Treasure Island, Alice
in Wonderland, Lady and the Tramp, Peter Pan, 101 Dalmatians, and Sleeping Beauty. From the
1930s to the 1960s Walt Disney Studios made about 100 features (not all movies, some just short
films before movies.) Mary Poppins was the next big movie because it mixed live action and

The Decolonization Of Iraq
Nima Meftah
Iraq Decolonization Iraq is very attractive to colonizers due to its high amounts of oil and other
natural resources. this made it the perfect target for a post world war one great britain, who
needed oil to supply their machinery and troops after they had used so much of it. after the
ottoman empire fell after WWI, Iraq became a mandate of the British empire in 1919 and was used
primarily for oil and gas. when they took over many arab states after the ottomans, they drew
random borders, which mixed ethnicities and beliefs. This resulted in many conflicts between
cultures, the kurds and sunnis, and made life for many in the country hard. The anti colonial
movement began the next year in 1920, during the Iraqi revolts, which were ... Show more content

This proved to be successful, and the military had strong influence over the people in Iraq. in
1922 the Twenty Year Treaty was signed, which stated that as long as Iraq was in debt to the
british, the king would have to seek advice and approval from the british king. While there was
lots of upside for britain, they still were required to provide military aid, and had to vouch for
them to be entered in the league of nations. After the treaty was signed, Iraq began nationwide
elections which resulted in many political changes throughout the system, with many people
stepping down from power. Now came the struggle for oil. During the rule of the ottoman empire,
the Turkish Petroleum Company had the rights to all the oil in Mosul. In 1923, the british and
iraqi governments began discussing a new distribution in oil. There was however a major
obstacle, in that iraq was being stubborn and wanted to own over 20% of the company. Due to
this, the league of nations took matters into their own hands. Since the british had lots of power in
the league of nations, Iraq asked them to help in fear that turkey would win rights to the oil. The
british pulled through and the land was now considered part of Iraq. This favor now resulted in
more debt to the british, which gave them an advantage to manipulate

Challenges Business Operations Performance
CHALLENGES BUSINESS OPERATIONS PERFORMANCES FACE A business can only
seize extra ordinary opportunities if it only becomes good at the average ordinary operations.
How do you ensure your business profits are escalating even as you stay focused on achieving
revenue growth? At this point, excellence in business operations turns out to be grave. Operational
excellence is a philosophy principle in leadership, problem solving and teamwork that results in a
consistent improvements throughout the business as I focuses on the customers needs, employee
empowerment, and activity optimization along the process. Whenever people, systems and
processes in any business perfectly operate efficiently and productively, excellence is certain and
goals and priorities become achievable. This state should however be easy to achieve in such an
ordeal world. There a few barriers within the business can keep it from attaining operational
excellence namely: 1. Lack of Collaboration A business with well coordinated exercises that merges
discrete steps into joined effort will experience continues and sustainable improvements. This is
however a challenge if each organization s function acts independently without taking into account
where and how the rest of the functions can add up to their development plans. Operational
strategies would be easier to implement if only employees could collaborate and unite to construct
and act on a single plan with a general goal and clear accountability for

Why Do Dogs Lick
Why do Dogs Lick
Dogs normally lick either themselves, humans, other dogs, or just general stuff around their
surroundings to signal something. Licking is part of a dog s life but when excessive this could
trigger other issues. In order for us to understand this behavior we will list a number of reasons
why dogs do this:
1) Affection
Dogs will mostly lick us to show affection and apparently due to the fact that they also like our
salty ski. Licking for affection causes dogs to release pleasurable endorphins that gives them a
comforting and calming feeling. And since dogs have special receptors in their noses and mouths
they can actually feel your mood by interpreting and processing scented molecules existing in
human sweat.
2) Grooming
For ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example is if they keep licking the anal area frequently this could mean the anal glands need
to be expressed or they are suffering from allergies. Another common reason is the skin may be
itchy due to fungal and bacterial infections and while still on the skin issue be keen and look out
for any growths or small abscesses that could cause be discomfort.
6) Healing
Dogs have enzymes in their saliva that can get rid of bacteria when they have wounds on their
skin this also helps in getting rid of dead tissues on the wound. As a stress reliever when dogs lick
themselves they release endorphins which play a role in relaxing and soothing them.
7) Hunger
Most dog owners will agree with this, when a dog is hungry it will lick you to express it is time for
food or drink. Puppies will lick their mother s lips to express hunger. On other hand wild dogs who
hang around in packs may lick the pack leader as a sign of begging for food.
8) Submission
Licking can also be a sign of submission this is because dogs have social orders. An example is a
dog higher in the chain maybe greeted by one lower in chain by being licked on the mouth. It is
important to always check on the dominant dog as excessive licking can become irritating and
make them snap at the submissive

Feminism And The Contemporary Art
The contemporary art world is including and exposing more female artists who are promoting
themselves creatively and pushing for equality through art. This essay will examine the increase of
feminist art visibility and the way in which the audience views work through female perspectives;
how art is defined through alternative and non traditional media, and how fine art has created
platforms and spaces for discussion and widens views of feminismwithin feminist groups and how
it can be portrayed differently. In our contemporary age of art, female artists are stripping away
the precedent of the male dominated views of the female standing socially, politically and
physically. It should be made clear that Feminist art is not of a specific time period or movement,
feminist art is neither a style nor a movement...It consists of many styles and individual
expressions. (Lippard) The use of alternative creative expression is to broaden our knowledge of
art, the way in which ideas and issues are presented based on the journey of women historically
through to the contemporary.
The visibility of female artists has increased over the years allowing for viewers to experience art
through a woman s perspective. Although there is still a largely male dominated art scene in our
contemporary world, as a young female artist it is becoming apparent that more and more female
artists are being given exposure publically and in private gallery spaces. Given that the art world is
highly subjective

Elkay Plumbing Products Division
Summary:
Background: Elkay was the American largest manufacturer of stainless steel residential sinks which
extended its scope into various kinds of products with only a few competitors. Its Plumbing
Products Division produced different level and priced sinks in three plants separately based on
different process requirements and characters of products and further invented itself to become the
industry s innovator. Elkay s main market included North America and selected international
markets. In 2007, Elkay s main outlet market begun to collapse; prices of raw materials increased
sharply; Chinese competitors began to encroach on its low end and threaten its relationships with

In addition, it wrongly allocated its indirect costs at volume bases. The use of process technology
mentioned in the case led to an increase in factory overheads Since direct labor hours was not a cost
driver of them, allocating its large proportion of fixed factory overheads and other indirect batch
level costs on the basis of DLHs in this cost system did not accurately measure how resources
were being used. As a result, these inaccurate allocations would have significant costs to Elkay.
Moreover, it disregarded its cost structure in which most costs were fixed that would not vary in
the short run and should be allocated based on its practical capacity. By using the actual sales
volume as the allocation base for allocating its large corporate overheads, this standard costing
system in fact over pricing its products for its actual productivity was lower than the practical
capacity under the intense competition. As a consequence of all problem within the standard
costing system, PPD urgently needed an accurate costing system.
Indeed, PPD had ever tried to solve these problems by developing a simple Excel based ABC
model. Whereas, due to the difficulties of implementing and maintaining it; the incompatibility with
other control systems; managers lack of awareness of the benefit of ABC system and employees
worried about headcount. The

Essay On Lgbt Community In America
The LGBT Community in America: A Research Paper A young girl stands before a floor length
mirror, her brown eyes staring at herself. She looks at her feminine body and features in the
mirror, wondering why she didn t look like how she felt on the inside as a boy. Her parents told
her that it was just a phase but she feels like that was wrong, like being a boy is who she s truly
supposed to be. This girl is just one example of the people in a community that are starting to
become more common in our society, the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Asexual
plus (LGBTQA+) community. LGBTQA+ people have long since continued their struggle for their
rights and equality, while facing discrimination in the workplace, gender dysphoria and the
association with mental health professionals, children with nonconforming genders and school, and
the differences against the American stereotype cultural norms that all with changes can be a
positive impact on the world. LGBTpeople have become more involved with society in America

Theories About Perfectionism And Suicidal Ideation, And...
The psychological study by Paul.L Hewitt and Gordon L.Flett investigated the theory about
perfectionism and suicidal ideation, and its dimensions on depressed adolescent patients. According
to this article, we could say that researchers used for this study correlational method, which
comprises sample data based on five independent variables such as perfectionism, stress, daily
hassles, hopelessness, and suicidepotential. The sample data consisted of 55 adolescents, who
completed the procedures which have been associated with some indices of life stress,
hopelessness, and one of the main problems of adolescence which is suicide ideation and potential.
In addition, that was also attended by the parents of those teenagers who were interviewed to
analyze their major stressful situations. As a result, these methods are given to understand that there
are two models of perfectionism, such as self oriented perfectionism, which is not correlated with
suicide; and socially prescribed perfectionism, which eventually showed that it is associated with a
potential suicide. Hierarchical regression also suggests that self oriented perfectionism is not much
of a threat to commit suicide, but socially prescribed perfectionism on the contrary has a link
between suicide and depression. These findings conclude that socially prescribed perfectionism is
one of the serious predictors of suicide attempt among adolescents in depression. There are five

Research Proposal
Internet Gaming Addiction Substance Addiction:
The Correlational Relationship Between Behavioral and Substance Addiction.
Jennifer M. deJong
PSY 290 Research Methods
Dr. Norma Hernandez
November 30, 2016
Abstract
The following research proposal is determining if there is a correlational relationship between
substance addiction and internet gaming addiction. Addiction is still seen in society as a lack of
willpower or a flaw in a person s character. This research will add to current research that is
striving to show that addiction is a disease of the mind. Archival research and content analysis will
be acquired to provide information on both addictions and possible co addictions. An interview
process will be conducted to gain data from participants that currently suffer from both addictions.
The results of this research study are expected to support the hypothesis that if a person has an
underlying substance addiction then it could be a factor in developing a secondary behavioral
addiction such as internet gaming addiction. The study would add to the existing research being
done on addiction. Showing that addiction is not limited to one element of a person s life.
Internet Gaming Addiction The Disease of Addiction:
The Correlational Relationship Between Behavioral and Substance Addiction.
The issue being discussed is internet gaming addiction. While there are factors that have already
been established in developing an internet

Symbolism of the Number Three in Bless Me Ultima Essay...
Through Rudolfo Anaya s Bless Me, Ultima, the reader notices many themes. One central, and very
important theme is the repetition of the number three. For example, there are three sources of
understand for Antonio, three deaths that Antonio witnesses, and Antonio s three prophetic dreams.
These all play crucial roles in both Antonio s life and serving to further the plot.
First, and probably most important are the three sources of understanding for Antonio. First, there
is Ultima, who serves as a neutral source of understanding and comforter for Antonio. The next
source of understanding for Antonio is God. Antonio constantly struggles to understand good and
evil through the eyes of the Catholic God. The final source of ... Show more content on

This sets up the initial conflict for Antonio, he wants to believe in his mother s God, but at the
same time he finds conviction and truth in what Samuel is telling him about the golden carp god.
Furthermore, while Antonio is supposed to be praying to God he says, There wasn t time to
discover Him, like I could do when I sat on the creek bank and watched the golden carp swim in
the sun filtered waters (233). I think this shows that Antonio feels a deeper connection to nature and
the golden carp than he does to God and traditional values. He is more like Ultima, than like either
one of his parents. The golden carp offer Antonio a way of thinking that is free and unstructured,
unlike that of Catholicism.
The final source of understanding for Antonio is God. He is expected to understand God,
because his mother dreams for him to become a priest. He is also expected to believe in God
because his mother is Catholic and that is what is expected of Antonio. I hoped that in a few
years the taking of the first holy communion would bring me understand (77). Antonio is basically
going through the motions that are expected of him. He is not genuinely excited to be taking his
communion; it is just something that he feels he needs to do. He thinks that if he takes his first
communion maybe he will have some answers for why there is good and evil going on around
him. He says, I want to know. I want to know the mysteries of

In consideration of Robert Linderman s letting the division managers know the project manager

The notice, however, did not offer an insight as to which employees would be taken for the
project. Consequently, it is possible that the managers were not in a position to make necessary
arrangements to cater for the departure of their team members. The impact on the divisions were,
therefore, felt once the selection has been made thus, leading to negative reactions from the
division heads. Joining a Project Organization Would you expect that many people would turn
down a chance to join a project organization, as Bert Mill did? Most people would contend that
no one would turn down a special job opportunity when it arises. I highly support this notion and
accordingly, I would not expect people to turn down a chance to doing a project organization as
exhibited by Bert Mill. This is because such chances are rare and far between. Furthermore, the
chance of joining the project organization provides employees with an opportunity for him to
develop his experience. Project organization provides employees with an opportunity to develop
their management and planning skills (Turner, 2009). Employees are, therefore, exposed to new
skills that would be of great benefit to them in building their careers. This justification is enough to
make anyone take the position that Mill was offered in the project organization. Employees make
various considerations before making choices concerning job placements and may give various
reasons to justify their refusal of

Dynamic Characters In High Fidelity
Dynamic characters evolve because of a life changing event. This transformation into a dynamic
character did not occur until this year. Before senior year being naive and ignorant was my
forte. Similar to Rob in the film High Fidelity who did not grow up until he realized that he is no
longer the adolescent he once was and needs to mature, not only his sake but, for the sake of
those around him. There seems to be a connection between growing up and jumping into an
abyss. Maturity comes with an intense amount of fear. Rob is afraid of commitment because he
knows it means he can no longer sleep around and keep being the adolescent he once was. Similar
to my situation because once I go off to college my family and school will become my only
priorities.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Making a good mix tape requires patience and delicacy. It is a representation of what one is
feeling either in times of distress or excitement. A mix tape should not be chronologically or
alphabetically because life does not occur this way. A good mix tape is autobiographical. This
way there is the ability to reflect on what was occurring in a certain period of one s life and the
ability to reflect on how that experience changed them for better or worse. The second theme was
maturing. Both Rob and I realized that the fear of losing one s adolescence, or innocence, is not
as great as the fear of becoming an adult. Maybe whatever is at the bottom of the abyss is better
than standing at the edge of a cliff. Besides once you ve hit rock bottom the only way to go is

Good Night And Good Luck And Badlands Compare And Contrast
Good Night and Good Luck, and Badlands are two very unique movies. Both poses very
interesting narratives, with underlying messages and symbolism. But, what makes them stand out
the most, is their artistic and technically driven visuals. One is full of beautiful and romanticized
colors. The other uses black and white to portray depth and struggle. Two vastly different
approaches, but equally powerful in their own ways. Good Night and Good Luck and Badlands,
both use their visual ascetics to motivate and strengthen their stories. Demonstrating that every part
of filmmaking is detailed, and every piece is an intricate part of the result. Badlands would have
been a completely different movie if not shot in color. This filmis the... Show more content on

All this going on, but somehow the audience gets caught up in the story. For brief moments
forgetting that Kit is a murderer and Holly is a child. This makes the film all the more
impressive, the way it draws you in. If Badlands was in black and white it would be a completely
different movie. It would be darker, and the characters lack of morality would be undeniable.
Badlands may be best for color film, but Good Night and Good Luck is perfect for black and
white. Good Night and Good Luck s message is one of struggle in a colorless world under the
reign of a corrupt leadership. Shot in black and white palette of cigarette smoke, hair tonic, dark
suits and pale button down shirts, Good Night and Good Luck plunges into a half forgotten
world in which television was new, the cold war was at its peak, and the Surgeon General s
report on the dangers of tobacco was still a decade in the future (Ebert) . While Badlands uses its
color to, in a way, distract from the plot. Good Night and Good Luck s black and white aesthetic
embodies the depth of what s at stake for the characters lives. The black and white is used as a
symbol. In the time of the HUAC trials people believed the solution to all issues could be solved
with black and white logic. Undefined gray issues were ignored and McCarthy used this to sway
the people and carry out his agenda. These are some of the artistic reasons Good Night Good and

Essay On Dr. Daniel Williams III
This person over here with the pumpkin on his head is Dr. Daniel H. Williams III. This person

This man did a lot for science, and not only that, but he allowed African American people to help

He was born on January 18, 1856, in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania. His father, Daniel H. Williams

When you think about all of this, you realize that it points to God in multiple ways. First of all,
performing open heart surgery points to God. When you learn to do something great for others,
God is pleased. And second, allowing African Americans into hospitals points to God. God made

On our way there we had seen several attack helicopters, I am guessing it s an attack helicopter

infiltrating the company was that you had to have an employee badge. We needed a way to
disguise ourselves. So, what we did was gather a bunch of old twigs and green leaves and
disguised ourselves as bushes, and as we saw two employees come by we knocked them out
behind the bush using a tranquilizer and hid them behind our bush so we could snatch their
identification card. Once that was done we had scanned the card into the metallic scanner, and

The Importance Of Misogyny In American Culture
I think internalized misogyny in American culture is detrimental to all genders, but especially
women. The objectification of women in media, culture, and daily life has proven harmful to the
opportunities and livelihoods of women. Once women are no longer viewed, as whole and valid
human beings, the subsequent rampant abuse and mistreatment imposed on them is rationalized
and accepted by society. I consider myself pro women, aligning myself with pro choice and anti
abuse movements, due to my partialities on the subject.
The most obvious source of towards my bias is the fact I m a woman, so the consequences of
sexism affect me directly. I suppose the intrinsic value of self preservation causes me to advocate
against it, since I would rather avoid experiencing the repercussions associated with misogyny than
face them firsthand. Combating society s oppressive attitudes increases my relative quality of life,
so one could consider my support for women s rights as a selfish endeavor. Branched off my own
personal attempt at self sustainability, is my willingness to empathize with other women. I hold the
tendency to deeply value women s rights because I recognize the struggles inflicted by the
patriarchal culture and society common to all women. I appreciate the quality of empathy because
it s important in all human relationships. I despise systematic sexism, because of its direct influence
on me, and simultaneously realize that I am a small entity among a small subsection of the

The dynamic relationships and unique experiences he created mirror a world like the one in
which he lived. The state within the novel was taking control of the minds of the youth, using
propaganda and a narrow world view to shape their young, impressionable morality. Both Nazi
Germany and the state in Youth Without God were training children to be warriors. They saw
decency and goodness as weaknesses to be rooted out, but where did this lead them? We are all
familiar with the end of World War II and the fate of Adolf Hitler. However, Horvath had no idea
the Third Reich was doomed. He wrote this novel because he it was clear to him that the
complete power held by the state would lead to corruption and violence. Ironically, Horvath died
in 1939 before he could behold the devastation by the Nazi regime that his novel had predicted.
Instead, he left behind a brilliant piece of work which we can use to analyze the role power and
violence can have on a state and its children. The concepts of power and violence are shown in
Youth Without God through the experiences of a teacher grappling with the immoral mindset of
his pupils and his opinion of God as a terrible being. The power, in this novel, is held by the state.
They control the education of young children by using propaganda and summer training programs
to prepare them to be soldiers. The headmaster of the school declares that we are supposed to keep

In both the performances of Bill Irwin and Anna Deavere Smith, what theatre is and how it can be
effectively used is questioned and analyzed. At it s core, theatre is essentially a presentation given
for it s dramatic and moving qualities. Looking first to Bill Irwin, it is easily apparent within a few
minutes of viewing his play that it is a comedy. Throughout the performance the narrator reads the
script and all of its contextual cues meant only for the actorand for the stage setup. Bill can be seen
practically sprinting throughout the playas he goes on and off stage for separate numbers. He even
makes a point of changing outfits on stage. I believe by doing this, besides simply for comedic
purposes, the audienceis forced to truly understand

Pulgas Ridge Research Papers
While hikers and dog walkers may have territorial and philosophical conflicts in some locations,
Pulgas Ridge Open Space Preserve seems to comfortably accommodate both groups in a small
park with ridge top views, cool canyons, and streamside thickets, mixed oak woodland, chaparral,
and abundant wildflowers. Dogwalkers are provided with a large off leash area where their canine
companions can romp unimpeded; hikers have access to interesting trails that see few dogs or
other hikers. Pulgas Ridge is a 366 acre parcel that is part of the Mid peninsula Regional Open
Space District. In a previous incarnation, it was the site of the Hassler Health Farm, a tuberculosis
sanitarium built and owned by the City of San Francisco beginning in 1927, but closed in 1964.
The land was purchased by the District in 1983. By 1985, the old sanitarium buildings were

If you like, you can add to your hike by taking the Geraci trail east on its one mile journey back to
where it branched off from the Woodrat trail. You have two other choices as well. If you have a
well socialized dog you may want to head straight down the hill into the off leash area. For
hikers, the best option is to take the Dick Bishop trail immediately to the right. The little used
Dick Bishop trail winds downhill for .7 mile along the upper side of a canyon, starting in
chaparral and ending among the coastal live oaks, blue oaks, and madrone. Edgewood County
Park is the open space you view across the canyon to the south. Edgewood Park and Pulgas have
similar topography, and are basically composed of weathered sandstone, but the formations are
different: the Edgewood stone is Franciscan greywacke and serpentine rock, while Pulgas is from
the Whisky Hill formation, which results in a few different wildflowers in the two

Arizona Snowbowl
One way people can support Native Americans is by proposing policy changes that encourage the
federal and state governments to respect the rights of the Native people. For example, many
supporters have joined protests against Native injustices. Native American activism boosted during
the late 1960s following the Civil Rights Movement. On February 2, 2004, when the Save the

Robert Hooke discovered some of the world s first microorganisms and should be the known as
the father of cell biology. He made discoveries way before scientists like Antonie Van

the name the ВЁcellВЁ. He also wrote one of the most important scientific books to date as well,
Micrographia. He was also a great physicist and discovered the law of elasticity which gave us a
great understanding of stress and strain on physical objects. Robert Hooke was a man of many
trades and one of them was being a great Cell Biologist. Robert Hooke was born on July 18, 1635,
in Freshwater, Isle of Wight. His father was a curch server and his mother was a non working

2. What is the difference between a public and private institution? Five or more sentences please.
Private institutions don t receive funds from state legislatures they depend on tuition and private
contributions, this is why their tuition is much more than a public institution
The income of public money is why tuition is lower at a public institution. Private institutions are
much smaller than public institutions and may have only a few thousand students. Public
universities and colleges can be big, and some are huge. Private institutions keep classes small,

A Room Of One s Own By Virginia Wolf Essay
In the excerpt from A Room of One s Own, by Virginia Wolf, she creates a distinction between
women portrayed in fiction and their experiences in reality. For example, in paragraph 7, she
states, ... witch being ducked, of a woman possessed by devils, of a wise woman selling herbs, or
even of a very remarkable man who has a mother. As if women, whom were represented in some
of these fictions, showed that women were rarely mentioned as superiors. In women s own
fictional world, they were represented as queens and princesses, men showed them love, and they
were never taken for granted. Whereas, in the real world women were treated no less than the mud
on another mans shoe. Women were not superior, nor did they have any rights or authority over
anything. Unless you were a witch, or possessed, you would have never been able to outsmart any
man. Further more, paragraph 3 states, Indeed if womanhad no existence save in the fictionwritten
by men, one would imagine her a person of the utmost importance; very various; heroic and mean;
splendid and sordid; infinitely beautiful and hideous in the extreme; as great as a man, some think
even greater. Would be another look about how women were represented in fiction. During the

The Meno Dialogue By Socrates
At the outset of the Meno dialogue, Meno asks Socrates, [...] can virtue be taught? Or is it not
teachable but the result of practice, or is it neither of these, but men possess it by nature or in some
other way? 70a. Meno is asking Socrates how one can acquire virtue, and these four questions offer
paths of investigation.
What are the paths and how are they dealt with? The first, can virtue be taught this is the main path
taken up for investigation of virtue. Second result of practice it doesn t seem as though this path
is dealt with (one could ask why it is that this isn t taken up, could it have to do with Meno as
Socrates foil?). Third by nature this path is rejected a few times, 89b, 98d, 99e. Fourth some
other way this open ended option seems as though it might offer a solution at the end of the
dialogue (in the form of divinity). However, before Socrates enters into Meno s initial question,
there is a more important question that needs turning over. What is virtue? I have sequestered my
discussion on Socrates investigation of what virtue is to an end note in order to stay under the
word limit, for the present purpose it is only important to say that Socrates and Meno can t find a
clear definition of virtue, but Meno pushes Socrates to investigate the aforementioned questions
about the acquisition of virtue regardless. Socrates does so despite the fact that the two don t know
exactly or clearly what virtue is.

Benefits of a Low Bodyfat Percentage
Obesity is ranked second among preventable causes of death. About 70% of American adults are
either overweight or obese. Being obese or overweight puts the host at a higher risk for health
problems such as heart disease, diabetes, and much more (Alonso Alonso). When I found out
about this jaw dropping information, I decided to take action and I made it my goal to maintain a
low body fat percentage over the course of two weeks (I will be sharing my experience further
down the road). Because of an elevated mood, aesthetic improvements, health benefits, and my
positive experience, obtaining low bodyfat percentage is very beneficial.
To begin, having a low bodyfat percentage is beneficial because it has the ability to boost self
esteem. Losing excess weight can make you feel better both physically and emotionally and can
help you live a longer, healthier life (Alonso Alonso). You become a different person physically
and Mentally. Confidence goes over the roof. Everything is mentally achievable (Cooper). This
shows that having a low body fat percentage causes confidence and internal happiness because it
allows the host to feel better about their appearances in turn producing happier and more
productive people, which is a major common problem in modern days. This proves that a low body
fat percentage can benefit a person s mental health in a positive manner.

Negligent Tort
Negligence is a tort law and it falls within the civil law which means a civil wrong has been
committed (Tort and Negligence, 2012). The American civil justice system, defines the law of
torts as situations that occur when the wrongful conduct of one party causes harm to another
individual (WiseGeek, 2003). The responsible party fails to act as a reasonable person to someone
to whom she or he owes a duty, as required by law under the circumstances. Negligent torts are not
committed purposely, and there must be an injury that occurs from the breach of the duty

Small injuries or damages may occur when products malfunction, death may occur, or there
could be damage done to ones property. The company could face possible lawsuits and in order
to prove negligence, an individual must have had a duty of care, which is defined as having
responsibility to act in the best interest of another. A company must always be ready to defend
itself in all the possible issues that may arise and cause any form of lawsuit (WiseGeek, 2003).
Recalled Product
Even though businesses do not like to recall its products, but when there is a safety problem
involved a recall takes precedent over rather a company will lose money. Recalls are necessary
to protect consumers from injuries, and to save lives. Recalls are beneficial to everyone when
expedited effectively. From the act of negligence a company could publicly be exposed which
could result in profit loss due to consumers being afraid or refuse to purchase the product, and the
stock values could fall if the company is publicly traded. This can be very damaging for a business
and could ultimately force the company to go out of business (Seaquist, 2012).

responsible for protecting the public from unreasonable risks of injury and death associated with
consumer products. The CPSC has jurisdiction over approximately 15,000 different types of

Tribal Relations Between The United States Essay
Introduction
Tribal relations to the United States are similar to that of a ward and his guardian. This sentiment
was proclaimed in 1831 in Cherokee Nation V. Georgia. The United States has been attempting to
integrate Native populations into the American systems since the first settlements arrived from
across the sea. Original tribal status was that of dependent domestic nations 1. Recent history has
changed the status of Native America to one of self determination and sovereignty. This status was
not determined by the US Constitution as Native Tribes were sovereign people before
Colonialization. The Unites States solidified the direct relationship between the Native Nations and
the Federal Government with the Indian Commerce Clause of 1879. The Commerce Clause
allowed Congress alone the power to regulate commerce between the United States and the Indian
tribes.2 The Marshall Trilogy, Chief Justice Marshall s Supreme Court cases designated the limits
of tribal sovereignty for the Native populations being surrounded by the newly formed United
States of America. In the first case, Johnson v. M Intosh, the Court recognized Indian nations do not
have a right to enter into treaties without federal approval.3 In Cherokee Nation v. Georgia, Chief
Justice Marshal defined the Indian nations as domestic dependent nations. 4 In the final case,
Worcester v. Georgia, the Supreme Court recognized the Native nation s right to self govern
releasing any control by the States

Product familiarity may best determine how a company or brand enters the new market. The
company must decide if this product is new to the area or is already an established need or brand
(Wang 2012).
Lifestyle is essential to making globalization a success. Companies should consider what the society
values and how they identify (Wang 2012).
Addressing these issues before attempting to globalize is key to overseas success. Mattel erred in
each of these issues, which ultimately led to their failure.
Mattel Performance on Six Issues Mattel failed in China because they missed key components in
each of the six identified issues. Localization is primarily the most important cultural characteristics
to address when considering overseas expansion. Mattel attempted to address localization; however,
they may have localized too much. The company introduced a doll with Chinese physical
characteristics and name, Ling. However, the original, blond, fair skinned Barbie was more popular
in China than Ling (Wang 2012). Thus, the disconnection was not with the doll herself, but rather
with the concept of the store. Gupta proposes that expansion to China requires the precise
combination of no localization and complete localization (2011). Starting with such a large store

Aboriginal Of Australia And Torre Strait Islanders
Introduction In this essay Indigenous people will describe Aboriginals of Australia and Torre Strait
Islanders. During the early years when just Indigenous Australians lived on Australia land there
health was quite healthy and they were quite happy. Then Europeans took over the land of Australia
and forced them to assimilate. This all started in the early 1900 s. Till this day it has affected
Indigenous people. It has affected their physical health, mental health, and identity. As a nurse we
can change this and not be judgmental and understand their history to provide better care.
Pre Invasion Health
Before the invasion Indigenous Australia had great health. There were no infectious diseases until
colonization of the European settlers. There also was no such thing as diabetes, high blood
pressure, ischemic heart disease or any diseases that were happening in Europe in the 18th century
(Central Australian Aboriginal Congress 2014). There was sickness and diseases but not as many
as indigenous Australians are suffering today. Aboriginal health had three sets of inter
relationships, which were between the land, and people, between people and creator of beings and
between people themselves (UK Essays 2013).
Assimilation Policy The assimilation policy in 1961 means in the view of all Australian
governments that all aborigines and part aborigines are expected eventually to attain the same

Comparison Between Religions
Comparison between Orthodoxy, Protestantism Roman Catholicism:
The table below aims to given an outline of some of the key issues in Christian belief and how the
three traditions view these issues. I have tried to state what might be called the representative view
of each tradition; though there are obviously differing views within each of them e.g. the diverse
range of opinions on the presence of Christ in the Eucharist. The links under the More information
section should be consulted for the definitive positions.
With thanks to Father Gregory Hallam for his assistance.

CURRY POWDER
The name Curry powder today is synonymous with the Indian food. The word curry is believed
to be delivered from the South Indian Tamil World Karhi . During the British Raj in India, curry

Garfield s Political Corruption
As the last of the log cabin Presidents, James A. Garfield attacked political corruption and won
back for the Presidency a measure of respect it had lost during the Reconstruction period. He was
born in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, in 1831. His father died when he was two. Determined to
succeed, Garfield worked as a carpenter and part time teacher while attending Geauga Academy,
located in Chester, Ohio. He supported himself with a part time teaching position at a district
school. From 1851 to 1854, he studied at the Eclectic Institute in Hiram, Ohio. In 1854, at the age
of twenty three, James entered Williams College in western Massachusetts as a junior; he was one
of the oldest students enrolled in this institution. Garfield was elected to the... Show more content on

Garfield countered by withdrawing all nominations except Robertson s; the Senators would
have to confirm him or sacrifice all the appointments of Conkling s friends. In a final desperate
move, Conkling and his fellow Senator from New York resigned, confident that their legislature
would vindicate their stand and re elect them. Instead, the legislature elected two other men; the
Senate confirmed Robertson. Garfield s victory was complete. In foreign affairs, Garfield s
Secretary of State invited all American republics to a conference to meet in Washington in 1882.
But the conference never took place. On July 2, 1881, in a Washington railroad station, an
embittered attorney who had sought a consular post shot the President. Mortally wounded,
Garfield lay in the White House for weeks. Alexander Graham Bell, inventor of the telephone,
tried unsuccessfully to find the bullet with an induction balance electrical device which he had
designed. On September 6, Garfield was taken to the New Jersey seaside. For a few days he
seemed to be recuperating, but on September 19, 1881, he died from an infection and internal
hemorrhage. ,on. Feb 1 2 Very boring in my

The students were encouraged to identify and note the colors, shapes, and lines in Vincent van
Gogh s piece, Irises. After reviewing the original piece, the students can start creating their own
crayon resistant art. The most interesting thing about this lesson to me was that it was created for
children with autism. I have a binder that I put special education and autism accommodations and
school assignment ideas in because I am majoring in it. I really enjoy when the author of the
assignment relates the project back to an original piece, because it allows students to appreciate
pieces of art that they normally would not. However, I fel this assignment is almost a little to
difficult for Kindergarten aged students. The book suggested to be used in the assignment,
Camille and the Sunflowers: A Story About Vincent van Gogh is aimed for children reading at a
higher first grade level. So, I would probably try it once with the children and see if they truly
understood what the overall goal was. I would like to try this project in maybe a first or second

The Decolonization Of Iraq Nima Meftah Iraq Decolonization Iraq is very attractive to colonizers due to its high amounts of oil and other natural resources. this made it the perfect target for a post world war one great britain, who needed oil to supply their machinery and troops after they had used so much of it. after the ottoman empire fell after WWI, Iraq became a mandate of the British empire in 1919 and was used primarily for oil and gas. when they took over many arab states after the ottomans, they drew random borders, which mixed ethnicities and beliefs. This resulted in many conflicts between cultures, the kurds and sunnis, and made life for many in the country hard. This proved to be successful, and the military had strong influence over the people in Iraq. in 1922 the Twenty Year Treaty was signed, which stated that as long as Iraq was in debt to the british, the king would have to seek advice and approval from the british king. While there was lots of upside for britain, they still were required to provide military aid, and had to vouch for them to be entered in the league of nations. After the treaty was signed, Iraq began nationwide elections which resulted in many political changes throughout the system, with many people stepping down from power. Now came the struggle for oil. During the rule of the ottoman empire, the Turkish Petroleum Company had the rights to all the oil in Mosul. In 1923, the british and iraqi governments began discussing a new distribution in oil. There was however a major obstacle, in that iraq was being stubborn and wanted to own over 20% of the company. Due to this, the league of nations took matters into their own hands. Since the british had lots of power in the league of nations, Iraq asked them to help in fear that turkey would win rights to the oil. The british pulled through and the land was now considered part of Iraq. This favor now resulted in more debt to the british, which gave them an advantage to manipulate ... Challenges Business Operations Performance CHALLENGES BUSINESS OPERATIONS PERFORMANCES FACE A business can only seize extra ordinary opportunities if it only becomes good at the average ordinary operations. How do you ensure your business profits are escalating even as you stay focused on achieving revenue growth? At this point, excellence in business operations turns out to be grave. Operational excellence is a philosophy principle in leadership, problem solving and teamwork that results in a consistent improvements throughout the business as I focuses on the customers needs, employee empowerment, and activity optimization along the process. Whenever people, systems and processes in any business perfectly operate efficiently and productively, excellence is certain and goals and priorities become achievable. This state should however be easy to achieve in such an ordeal world. There a few barriers within the business can keep it from attaining operational excellence namely: 1. Lack of Collaboration A business with well coordinated exercises that merges discrete steps into joined effort will experience continues and sustainable improvements. This is however a challenge if each organization s function acts independently without taking into account where and how the rest of the functions can add up to their development plans. • 5. Why Do Dogs Lick Why do Dogs Lick Dogs normally lick either themselves, humans, other dogs, or just general stuff around their surroundings to signal something. Licking is part of a dog s life but when excessive this could trigger other issues. In order for us to understand this behavior we will list a number of reasons why dogs do this: 1) Affection Dogs will mostly lick us to show affection and apparently due to the fact that they also like our salty ski. Licking for affection causes dogs to release pleasurable endorphins that gives them a comforting and calming feeling. And since dogs have special receptors in their noses and mouths they can actually feel your mood by interpreting and processing scented molecules existing in human sweat. 2) Grooming For ... As a stress reliever when dogs lick themselves they release endorphins which play a role in relaxing and soothing them. 7) Hunger Most dog owners will agree with this, when a dog is hungry it will lick you to express it is time for food or drink. Puppies will lick their mother s lips to express hunger. On other hand wild dogs who hang around in packs may lick the pack leader as a sign of begging for food. 8) Submission Licking can also be a sign of submission this is because dogs have social orders. An example is a dog higher in the chain maybe greeted by one lower in chain by being licked on the mouth. This essay will examine the increase of feminist art visibility and the way in which the audience views work through female perspectives; how art is defined through alternative and non traditional media, and how fine art has created platforms and spaces for discussion and widens views of feminismwithin feminist groups and how it can be portrayed differently. In our contemporary age of art, female artists are stripping away the precedent of the male dominated views of the female standing socially, politically and physically. It should be made clear that Feminist art is not of a specific time period or movement, feminist art is neither a style nor a movement...It consists of many styles and individual expressions. (Lippard) The use of alternative creative expression is to broaden our knowledge of art, the way in which ideas and issues are presented based on the journey of women historically through to the contemporary. The visibility of female artists has increased over the years allowing for viewers to experience art through a woman s perspective. The use of process technology mentioned in the case led to an increase in factory overheads Since direct labor hours was not a cost driver of them, allocating its large proportion of fixed factory overheads and other indirect batch level costs on the basis of DLHs in this cost system did not accurately measure how resources were being used. As a result, these inaccurate allocations would have significant costs to Elkay. Moreover, it disregarded its cost structure in which most costs were fixed that would not vary in the short run and should be allocated based on its practical capacity. By using the actual sales volume as the allocation base for allocating its large corporate overheads, this standard costing system in fact over pricing its products for its actual productivity was lower than the practical capacity under the intense competition. As a consequence of all problem within the standard costing system, PPD urgently needed an accurate costing system. She looks at her feminine body and features in the mirror, wondering why she didn t look like how she felt on the inside as a boy. Her parents told her that it was just a phase but she feels like that was wrong, like being a boy is who she s truly supposed to be. This girl is just one example of the people in a community that are starting to become more common in our society, the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Asexual plus (LGBTQA+) community. LGBTQA+ people have long since continued their struggle for their rights and equality, while facing discrimination in the workplace, gender dysphoria and the association with mental health professionals, children with nonconforming genders and school, and the differences against the American stereotype cultural norms that all with changes can be a positive impact on the world. The psychological study by Paul.L Hewitt and Gordon L.Flett investigated the theory about perfectionism and suicidal ideation, and its dimensions on depressed adolescent patients. According to this article, we could say that researchers used for this study correlational method, which comprises sample data based on five independent variables such as perfectionism, stress, daily hassles, hopelessness, and suicidepotential. The sample data consisted of 55 adolescents, who completed the procedures which have been associated with some indices of life stress, hopelessness, and one of the main problems of adolescence which is suicide ideation and potential. In addition, that was also attended by the parents of those teenagers who were interviewed to analyze their major stressful situations. As a result, these methods are given to understand that there are two models of perfectionism, such as self oriented perfectionism, which is not correlated with suicide; and socially prescribed perfectionism, which eventually showed that it is associated with a potential suicide. Hierarchical regression also suggests that self oriented perfectionism is not much of a threat to commit suicide, but socially prescribed perfectionism on the contrary has a link between suicide and depression. These findings conclude that socially prescribed perfectionism is one of the serious predictors of suicide attempt among adolescents in depression. There are five independent ... Internet Gambling Addiction And Substance Addiction Essay Research Proposal Internet Gaming Addiction Substance Addiction: The Correlational Relationship Between Behavioral and Substance Addiction. Jennifer M. deJong PSY 290 Research Methods Dr. Norma Hernandez November 30, 2016 Abstract The following research proposal is determining if there is a correlational relationship between substance addiction and internet gaming addiction. Addiction is still seen in society as a lack of willpower or a flaw in a person s character. This research will add to current research that is striving to show that addiction is a disease of the mind. Archival research and content analysis will be acquired to provide information on both addictions and possible co addictions. An interview process will be conducted to gain data from participants that currently suffer from both addictions. The results of this research study are expected to support the hypothesis that if a person has an underlying substance addiction then it could be a factor in developing a secondary behavioral addiction such as internet gaming addiction. The study would add to the existing research being done on addiction. Showing that addiction is not limited to one element of a person s life. Furthermore, while Antonio is supposed to be praying to God he says, There wasn t time to discover Him, like I could do when I sat on the creek bank and watched the golden carp swim in the sun filtered waters (233). I think this shows that Antonio feels a deeper connection to nature and the golden carp than he does to God and traditional values. He is more like Ultima, than like either one of his parents. The golden carp offer Antonio a way of thinking that is free and unstructured, unlike that of Catholicism. The final source of understanding for Antonio is God. He is expected to understand God, because his mother dreams for him to become a priest. He is also expected to believe in God because his mother is Catholic and that is what is expected of Antonio. I hoped that in a few years the taking of the first holy communion would bring me understand (77). Antonio is basically going through the motions that are expected of him. He is not genuinely excited to be taking his communion; it is just something that he feels he needs to do. Badlands may be best for color film, but Good Night and Good Luck is perfect for black and white. The black and white is used as a symbol. In the time of the HUAC trials people believed the solution to all issues could be solved with black and white logic. We are all familiar with the end of World War II and the fate of Adolf Hitler. However, Horvath had no idea the Third Reich was doomed. • 28. The Meno Dialogue By Socrates At the outset of the Meno dialogue, Meno asks Socrates, [...] can virtue be taught? Or is it not teachable but the result of practice, or is it neither of these, but men possess it by nature or in some other way? 70a. Meno is asking Socrates how one can acquire virtue, and these four questions offer paths of investigation. What are the paths and how are they dealt with? The first, can virtue be taught this is the main path taken up for investigation of virtue. Second result of practice it doesn t seem as though this path is dealt with (one could ask why it is that this isn t taken up, could it have to do with Meno as Socrates foil?). Third by nature this path is rejected a few times, 89b, 98d, 99e. Fourth some other way this open ended option seems as though it might offer a solution at the end of the dialogue (in the form of divinity). However, before Socrates enters into Meno s initial question, there is a more important question that needs turning over. What is virtue? I have sequestered my discussion on Socrates investigation of what virtue is to an end note in order to stay under the word limit, for the present purpose it is only important to say that Socrates and Meno can t find a clear definition of virtue, but Meno pushes Socrates to investigate the aforementioned questions about the acquisition of virtue regardless. Socrates does so despite the fact that the two don t know exactly or clearly what virtue is. We can now follow the paths or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Being obese or overweight puts the host at a higher risk for health problems such as heart disease, diabetes, and much more (Alonso Alonso). When I found out about this jaw dropping information, I decided to take action and I made it my goal to maintain a low body fat percentage over the course of two weeks (I will be sharing my experience further down the road). Because of an elevated mood, aesthetic improvements, health benefits, and my positive experience, obtaining low bodyfat percentage is very beneficial. To begin, having a low bodyfat percentage is beneficial because it has the ability to boost self esteem. Losing excess weight can make you feel better both physically and emotionally and can help you live a longer, healthier life (Alonso Alonso). You become a different person physically and Mentally. Confidence goes over the roof. Everything is mentally achievable (Cooper). This shows that having a low body fat percentage causes confidence and internal happiness because it allows the host to feel better about their appearances in turn producing happier and more productive people, which is a major common problem in modern days. This proves that a low body fat percentage can benefit a person s mental health in a positive manner. In addition, low ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This sentiment was proclaimed in 1831 in Cherokee Nation V. Georgia. The United States has been attempting to integrate Native populations into the American systems since the first settlements arrived from across the sea. Original tribal status was that of dependent domestic nations 1. Recent history has changed the status of Native America to one of self determination and sovereignty. This status was not determined by the US Constitution as Native Tribes were sovereign people before Colonialization. The Unites States solidified the direct relationship between the Native Nations and the Federal Government with the Indian Commerce Clause of 1879. The Commerce Clause allowed Congress alone the power to regulate commerce between the United States and the Indian tribes.2 The Marshall Trilogy, Chief Justice Marshall s Supreme Court cases designated the limits of tribal sovereignty for the Native populations being surrounded by the newly formed United States of America. In the first case, Johnson v. M Intosh, the Court recognized Indian nations do not have a right to enter into treaties without federal approval.3 In Cherokee Nation v. Addressing these issues before attempting to globalize is key to overseas success. Mattel erred in each of these issues, which ultimately led to their failure. Mattel Performance on Six Issues Mattel failed in China because they missed key components in each of the six identified issues. Mattel attempted to address localization; however, they may have localized too much. The company introduced a doll with Chinese physical characteristics and name, Ling. However, the original, blond, fair skinned Barbie was more popular in China than Ling (Wang 2012). Thus, the disconnection was not with the doll herself, but rather with the concept of the store.
