The Exorcist Movie Analysis
The power of Christ compels you! The power of Christ compels you! The power of Christ compels
you!!! ... Father Merrin Father Damien Karras from the movie The Exorcist This quote had been said
like 10 times in quick succession in the movie The Exorcist and may have the right to be the most
influental and memorable quote of the movie. Of course in order to underline the variety of exorcism ,
the director of the film William Friedkin had to feature this quote out, which is actually a quote from
Bible. But not only this one but also the other quotes especially the obscene ones have right to be the
most memorable quotes from the best horror movie in 70s, The Exorcist . But why do people think it s

Regan has no father figure around her, mother behaves her like a friend. A spoiled girl, without no
authority at home, moreover experiencing an adolescence period, where she is available to change any
time, must be the best candidate for a demon or evil, whatever. There is a belief that demons love
lonely and desperate people and they get in their lifes while they are unhappy or not enough happy.
Also there is another believe that this evil things happens mostly to the people without no faith or
religion.
Regan MacNeil: Mother? What s wrong with me?
Chris MacNeil: It s just like the doctor said. It s nerves, and that s all. You just take your pills and you
ll be fine, really. Okay? Regan s mother was obviously an agnostic or maybe an atheist. When she
noticed that Regan has some problems, she immediately took her daughter to a physchologist. These
physchologists offered to get Regan checked by psychiatrists also because they thought her problems
are more serious. And finally when pshyciatrists told Chris that they can t help her, they adviced to see
a priest, which was a nonsense advice for an agnostic mother who doesn t believe in that kind of
religious things. Could a priest save her daughter s life, could he change something? Desperate mother
had to try this final solution whether she believes in God or not. And it worked actually. The demon
inside Regan was pulled out by the help of exorcism, by the help of priests, by the help of

Ethics and Management of Wal-Mart
Abstract Standards, values, morals and ethics have become increasingly complex in a postmodern
society where absolutes have given way to tolerance and ambiguity. This particularly affects managers
in Human Resources, where decisions will affect people s jobs and their future employment. This
paper will look at the history of Wal Mart and it will glance at the management style and Ethics of Wal
Mart towards it internal and external customers. Wal Mart Ethical and Management Style Wal Mart is

Pvc Fence
Wild and domestic animals can be a huge problem for your backyard garden. They dig up the earth,
eat the plants, and destroy crops. Fortunately, you can keep out pests by building a simple fence
around your garden.
If you re on a budget, a simple PVC fence is an affordable and effective solution for keeping garden
pests at bay. So how do you build one?
Gather Your Materials
Like any DIY project, it important to first gather your materials. For this project, you will need:
PVC Pipe (2 inch pipe should suffice)
Hacksaw
Vise
Gloves

Determine the height. Start by determining how tall your fence will need to be. If you need to keep out
rabbits and small animals, 2 feet should suffice. If you need to keep out larger animals, 4 feet should
suffice. Whatever height you choose, this will be how tall your PVC pipes will be.
2. Clamp and saw. Using the vise, clamp your PVC pipe into place and cut it with the hacksaw.
Remember to use the measurements above as a reference.
3. Sand the ends. When all PVC pipes are cut to desired length, sand them with sandpaper until
smooth.
4. Apply the glue. Brush the ends of the PVC pipe with a thin layer of glue. Also apply the glue to the
PVC elbow joints.
5. Connect the pipes. Carefully insert the sanded and glued pipes into the elbow joints.
6. Remove excess glue. If any glue oozes out of the joints, wipe it away with a clean paper towel.
7. Let dry. Let the glue dry completely. This may take anywhere from 1 hour to 12 hours, depending
on how much glue was

Lakeland s Little Learners
When I was perhaps seven years old, surely no more than eight, I spent much of my summer at the
local daycare; Lakeland s Little Learners was it s name. I knew a lot of the kids there before I started
attending (which I had been doing for a few years at this point) because we had all previously gone to
another daycare in town, this one called Little Thinkers. However, due to parents not paying their
children s dues, (I dimly recall a vague understanding of a card checkout system indicating various
forms of payment each night, and watching many parents not bother to mark it) it was shut down, and
so we were all relocated to Lakeland s Little Learners. One of the friends I was delighted to become
reaquainted with at the new daycare was a boy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To most people, it was just children grabbing toys, but to me, it was the first time I saw the true nature
of people, my first encounter with a group mentality so unlike my own. To this day I still think that the
reason I remember it so much is because my friend, James, who I had known for so long and so well,
became a faceless member of a party that had no regard for what was right and wrong. They only saw
what they wanted up for the taking, and took it, immediately forgetting and invalidating the pride and
effort that had previously gone into earning those prizes. To me it will always be one of the saddest
moments I ever had the misfortune to watch, because James hesitating, looking at me, and then
turning into the crowds is a heartbreaking reminder that anyone can change in a second, even the
kindest and most steadfast people can do the wrong thing. Really, the prize box was a lot like Golding
s conch because it was a sign of order which was obliterated by the enveloping evils of a few. There
are always going to be a few bad apples the ones who started stealing in the first place, for instance.
But what truly shocked me was that this time, it was everyone, not just a few, who took the wrong turn
and made the wrong choice. They gave into what I can deem as no more than deplorable, petty
thievery. Everything my

The good are good to the end, and the evils are evils for the ends. There is no deep characterization of
the characters. So, the gothic villain is simply a bad person doing evil deeds. He neither suffers from
any mental problems or struggles, nor obtains a supernatural power; moreover he is a human being,
not a ghost or a monster. Accordingly, a question arises, what does make him a gothic villain? The
answer is that the terror he creates inside the hearts of the female characters makes him a monster in
the eyes of his victims .Their continuous anxiety and anticipation for his evil deeds and their frequent
escape from him creates an atmosphere of fear and gothic and makes him a source of horror and fear.

City Dump Film Analysis
City Dump is a film that explains the City College of New York scandal, where players were curving
the game spread and being paid for it. A majority of the interviews conducted in the film were not
those of whom were on the team and partook in the scandal, but rather journalists and other players
who weren t part of it. This is accepted a legitimate criticism of the film. In order to portray the effect
this incident had on the player, interviews with them would be appropriate. But, it makes sense that
the filmmakers did not interview them because it could ve potentially hurt the case they made in 1951.

that is a meme. In Obama Vs. Grumpy Cat, comical devices are used to attract a percent of the nation

our nation s president. Grumpy Cat, also known as Tardar Sauce to her family, gained her fame in late

news website where registered community members can submit content. The photo quickly went viral

The Three Caliphs Of The Islamic World
After the brief illness, Muhammad passed way in 632, after that the Islamic world took many different
turns reflecting various different natures of characteristics, that give birth to dynamic and creative
religious society. After the death of Muhammad, four different caliphs were selected in different times;
all of them were close to the prophet in his time. The Muslim nation at that time were distributed into
two groups who thought that Ali is the right successor of Muhammad, and other was the one that
decided to have the three caliphs after which Ali was autonomously selected by the crowd (Nicholson,
2010). Last three of the caliphs were assassinated during their regime. The chaotic environment that

Muwaiya chose his own son Yazid to succeed him, thereby instituting the Umayyad caliphate. He
killed the grandson of Muhammad in the famous Battle of Karbala that has been understood while
having different opinions. Some claim that it was the war between two princes; however, some also
believe that it was Yazid who did the wrong act of killing the grandson of his own prophet that
brought the religion (Haynes, 1998). This give birth to the Umayyad caliphs that presided over the
Arab realm and were least interested about the religious empire. They developed an army mostly
comprising Muslim Arabs and retained Sasanid and Byzantine and placed Muslims over the seats of
non Muslims. However, unrest started to grow in this period and Shiites attached the Umayyad family
to secure the legitimacy as the heirs of Muhammad. In 750, the region of Khurasan that is currently
the Northeastern Iran, the end of Umayyad caliph was noted, followed by the Abbas family taking
over the thrown and let the Shiite gain control over the different regions (Doak, 2009). In the
beginning, the Abassid Caliphate reflected leadership through which the nation proposed. The early
leaders were religious and were towards Islam and the preaching of Islam. However, soon after more
and more people converted into Islam, by the half of ninth century, it was difficult for the regime to
hold power and to prevent revolt and rebels. The regime was so scattered with no proper delegation
systems with high communication gaps that eventually resulted in poor governance. It is observed that
no government ruling so vast an empire could hold power easily. It is observed that during the first
two centuries, the major concern for the Muslim leader was to have rebels that were supported by
huge number of people converting into Islam (Rubin,

Evaluation Essay On Shrek
Recently, I gave my S.H.I.E.L.D Speech for my Oral Com class, and there were many things I did to
prepare. First, I had to decide what my idea was going to be. I picked Shrek as my shield because he is
awesome and I could tie him into my life without it being too much of a stretch. After I had chosen my
topic, I devised a design for my shield. The final shield design was a giant Shrek face with smaller
faces of the characters Donkey and the Big Bad Wolf to go alongside Shrek. Then, I began writing my
outline. I chose my main points (weirdness, friends, and theatre) because they related to Shrek. Once I
had completed my outline, I practiced with it several times twice in class and twice outside of class. It
was during my practice outside of class that I realized that I did not have enough information to give a
speech that would last over four minutes just from my outline. In response to this, I typed exactly what
I was going to say, word for word, and attempted to memorize it, but that didn t go as planned. ...

focused on the speech. I made some jokes, and the audience laughed at most of them, which was a
good feeling. But because I failed to fully memorize the speech, there were times that I was left trying
to figure out the exact phrasing, which took away from the performance slightly, even though I don t
believe it was that big of a deal. I also made a pun by ending my speech with My speech is all ogre

Abstract: This is an article on the man of the Renaissance, Leonardo Da Vinci, and his mathematical

The drawing however, does allow one to notice Da Vinci s love and interest for geometry. After
Leonardo studied Euclid and Pacioli s Summa, he began his own mathematical research. This research

famous mathematical problem during the Renaissance period, which noted that a human body could
be symmetrically inscribed within both a circle and a square. Various artists and architects before
Leonardo Da Vinci attempted to illustrate Vitruvius theory, but it wasn t until Da Vinci s Vitruvian

Essay on History Of Cajun Cuisine
History of Cajun Cuisine Cajun cuisine is a fusion of food from different regions with very rich
histories, such as France, Canada, and the southern U.S. It was originated by peasants of French
ancestry. These immigrants settled in the Acadian region of the Bay of Fundy in Nova Scotia from
1604 to 1654. By 1755, the population of these settlers had grown to about 15,000. They survived on
cereal crops such as wheat, barley and oats, and garden vegetables including field peas, cabbage, and
turnips. This diet was supplemented by domestic livestock, wild game, and fish. (History of the

The prairie was ideally suited for cattle, and successful ranches were soon established in this region,
providing New Orleans and the surrounding area with much desired beef. A dual class system
emerged with the Acadian settlers, dividing Acadians into the small elite planter class, and the
working class farmers; a minor intermediate, middle class existed as well. The elite planters soon
adopted slavery, farming large tracts of land. They became successful in farming cotton by the early
eighteenth century, which was replaced with sugar by the mid eighteenth century, and rice shortly
thereafter. The planters identified with the Creoles, a more wealthy and educated class than the
emerging Cajun culture. As farm land became more valued with the profits of cotton in the early part
of the nineteenth century, the poorer Acadians in the river valley were forced to sell their land and
move into the less desirable unclaimed swamp area. Swamp life was difficult and isolated, but did
provide the emigrants with a generous supply of foodstuffs that added to the unique diet of Cajuns.
(Cajun Country. (2003). www.cs.wisc.edu) In both wetland and prairie Cajun homes, kitchens were
simple and practical. Kitchen cookware consisted simply of a cast iron kettle suspended over a hearth;
and a few families had a cast iron frying pan. Subsistence farming and hunting produced such
mainstay foods as corn, potatoes, sweet potatoes, beans, squash, okra, and rice.

Comparing Digging and Follower by Seamus Heaney Essays
Examine two poems, Digging and Follower by Seamus Heaney and then compare the poems,
explaining both their differences and similarities.
The first poem I am going to examine is digging by Seamus Heaney. I will first comment on the title
of the poem. Digging has both a metaphorical and literal meaning to it. The literal meaning is that his
father and his grandfather are farmers. The poem talks about the men Digging and working, so this
explains the literal meaning of the poem. The metaphorical meaning is that Seamus Heaney is Digging
into his past and back round, which is farming. So, the title is rather effective. Now I will examine the
rest of the poem.
Firstly, I will look at, and comment on, the first stanza. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This makes his father sound very professional. It sounds as if he wants us to admire his father. Once
again, the word digging is repeated in the literal sense.
The first line of the fourth stanza also implies that his father was very professional by using technical
words such as lug and shaft and then again in the second line; levered firmly . In the last line of this
stanza, tactile imagery is used. It reads loving their cool hardness in our hands
The fifth stanza is only two lines long, and is said in a rather conversational tone; as if Seamus Heaney
is speaking it in a general conversation. It isn t like a poem at all. It says By god the old man could
handle a spade . He is boasting here, like a child in a playground. It conveys a boastful, bragging tone.
Just like his old man sets in motion the chain of memory.
The sixth stanza starts of in the same boastful tone as the fifth stanza was. My grandfather cut more
turf in a day, than any other man on Toner s bog . This is also said in a conversational tone. He seems
very proud of his grandfather, just like he does his father. His grandfather must have been good at his
job. He then contrasts his grandfather s work, by explaining of how he carried in a bottle of milk to his
grandfather once, corked sloppily with paper . It seems as if he doesn t feel that he is as good as if
father and grandfather were. Once again, in the seventh stanza, the word digging

The Supplementation Nutrition Assistance Program
The Supplementation Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), prior to October 2008 referred to as
Food Stamps, was legislatively established nationwide in 1974 by the United States Congress.
However, the Food Stamp Act of 1977 established comprehensive reform of the federally supported

provides in kind monthly benefits to provide nutrition assistance to low income families and

The early 1980s saw a decrease in funding for SNAP, even as participation in the program had
continued to grow. In the late 1980s and 1990s, funding levels were increased, but there was a drop in
the participation among those eligible (King, 1999). During the welfare reform periods of the mid
1990s, SNAP was one of the federal benefit programs that had limited changes compared to other
welfare programs who had more drastic modifications as part of welfare reform. Welfare reform did
create limited benefits for immigrants and did not allow those who had drug felonies to receive SNAP.
Legislation in the late 1990s created the removal of some of restrictions on immigrants and gave
benefits to those with disabilities (Hoynes Schanzenbach, 2015). In the early 2000s food stamps began
moving to Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards, which were later mandated by the Farm Security

John Owen s Holy Spirit
JOHN OWEN S VINDICATION OF HOLY SPIRIT S DEITY AND ITS BENEFITS FOR
BELIEVERS
Against the Socinians, John Owen vindicated the deity of the Holy Spirit, as well as his benefits for
believers, within a Christological context. The Socinians were not the only opponents Owen dealt
with, but they were notorious for their anti Trinitarian views. On Owen s theological engagement,
Crawford Gribben assessed the Socinian threat as a gift to Owen for drawing attention to the
ambiguity of the boundaries of orthodoxy permitted by the state, and that Owen took advantage of the
moral panic. While it is true that Owen produced theological works in response to Socinianism, Owen
regarded Socinianism as a major threat. The same applies to other ... Show more content on

Before examining the doctrines of Socinian and those of Owen, however, it is important to consider
the historical context of these theological controversies.
Historical Context
John Owen s Context
John Owen (1616 1683) was born in Stadhampton, near Oxford, to Henry Owen, a man of Puritan
sympathies. After finishing local grammar school, Owen matriculated at Queen s College, Oxford, in
1631. Owen achieved his Bachelor of Arts in 1632. He finished his Master of Arts studies in 1635 and
ordained deacon. Then Owen engaged in a 7 year course for a Bachelor of Divinity. In 1642, Owen
published A Display of Arminianism, the first among many of his works. Owen soon received much
attention and was invited to preach before Parliament.
In 1649, after the execution of Charles, Owen again preached to parliament. Here, Oliver Cromwell
was present and chose Owen as his chaplain. Owen was then appointed Dean of Christ Church,
Oxford, in 1651. In the following year, Owen became vice chancellor and served until 1657. As a
preacher who joined Cromwell s revolution, Owen s appointment was a symbolic victory over
monarchy. In other words, the new appointments to key university positions were symbolic of the
wider ambitions of the Cromwellian administration.
As the Oxford Reformer, as Gribben put it, Owen promoted Calvinistic piety that transcended the
political and cultural division of the university. In 1651, for example, Owen outlined the qualities of
Calvinistic piety when he

Color
The first thing you look at when shopping for a nap mat is its color. Look for a solid, neutral color
ranging from soft hue to vogue. The idea is to find a soothing, calming, and inviting color. Nowadays

Analysis Of Ray Bradbury s The Veldt
Loredona Lazzara Engish 102 July 7, 2015 Dehumanizing Society Technology can be a beautiful
thing, which is very convenient when connecting with others. It may even leave our mind with some
peace. Most of the time it is what keeps us in touch and strengthens our relationships with old friends,
family members and co workers. Technology today can provide opportunities for students all over the
world to receive an education online, while still maintaining work and family schedules. Students are
able to obtain a degree online just as any student on campus may, with just a click of button on a
screen. How would we feel if our personal technology devices were taken away? Many of us may feel
like a part of us is missing but, in reality we ve been taken away from interpersonal communication
and interactions. Not only is technology hurting our younger children in society but, many of our
adults too. In Ray Bradbury s story, The Veldt he describes how the more technology you have the
more dissatisfied you become. Society has come to show us how technology is slowly dehumanizing
our world. In our world today, technology has become more and more advanced and it seems to take
control over our lives. In the poem, The Veldt the theme had been set on how technology had make
life somewhat easier. Technology had made life so easy that it wasn t even living anymore, the father,
George states in the story. Much of the technology in the Veldt had ruined the life that existed before

Describe Realistic Strategies That Canadians Could Take to...
Describe realistic strategies that Canadians could take to reduce their negative impact on land, water
and the atmosphere.
Ever since the dawn of industrialization, humans have caused serious, irreversible damage to the
biosphere. And as the world progresses and Canadians looks on, they realized the impact of their
environmental damage. Sometimes new ecofriendly technology enters the market and replaces the old
environment damaging one. But that is not enough, human society as a whole must completely rethink
and change themselves individually to so that their actions causes minimal environmental backlash.

Simple everyday things for Canadians to reduce water consumption would to fix leaky faucets, take
shorter showers, and turn off the tap when they brush their teeth. Other courses of action for people
would be to install toilets that use less water per flush and for the government, they could start to tax
people for water usage. Some strategies to farmers would be to use drip irrigation systems, which
deliver water directly to the plants roots. The atmosphere is another important component of the
biosphere. Every day, countless cars and factories releases greenhouse gases and pollutes it. A simple
strategy would be do not use cars. Instead of driving, people can bike to work or even walk there. In
fact, carpooling and taking public transit would create less atmospheric pollution than an individual
driving their own car. In addition, people can buy locally grown foods to reduce their greenhouse
footprint . By buying locally grown foods, it supports local businesses as well reduces emissions
because the food traveled shorter distances. And finally, eco activists and even concerned folks can
hire lobbyists to exert pressure on the government to create environmental policies that help to protect
the atmosphere. As the world looks on, people start to realize that the problem of environmental

Physician Assistant Duties
Physician assistants play a pivotal role in the healthcare industry. This profession emerged in the 1960
s as a response to the shortage of doctors entering the workforce (Hamilton, 2016). Physician
assistants can do many things with the training that they receive during their schooling such as
providing diagnostic evaluations, therapeutic remediation, surgical assistance, and pharmaceutical
prescription ( Physician Assistant Career Information and Job Description ). Depending on their work
experience, specialty, and the state that they practice in they may have different responsibilities. Some
duties of a P.A. are to: order and interpret tests, take patients medical history, counsel patients on
preventive care, conduct physical examinations, diagnose and treat illnesses, write prescriptions, and
assist in surgeries.
P.A.s easily continue to satisfy the shortage of doctors today because they can easily move between
specialties since their training is more generalized and shorter in length than that of an MD. The
average length of a Physician Assistant program can be anywhere between 1 to 3 years. According to

According to Simon Jenkins, a writer for the British newspaper The Guardian, states that there cannot
be a human freedom so personal as ordering the circumstances of one s own death...[yet]... the near
universal desire to be allowed to die in my own home is willfully disregarded (Jenkins 1). By allowing
yourself to have life, one would assume that this gives you freedom over other aspects of your
existence, including when it should end. By denying the rights to achieve liberty, achieve happiness,
and define our lives, are we not denying the rights governments around the world were founded on? It
is the denial of these rights that allows the mental stress felt by patients to turn into physical pain.
Physical pain felt by patients is most often not caused by their injuries, but by neglect. Montana s
Death with Dignity Act, as stated by bioethicist Jacob Appel, is a hollow victory, as no physicians are
willing to give consented assistance. A physician neglecting to assist a patient with committing suicide
is more damaging than healing; it causes the patient to suffer through their injuries while searching out
another doctor to assist them. This is what happened with Janet Murdock: suffering from ovarian
cancer, she traveled throughout Montana, only to be denied assisted suicide from every physician she
met (Appel 1). Her pain was exacerbated by a law that was enacted to help relieve the

Persuasive Essay On Gender Pay Gap
In our constitution we are all equal, but why are we not paid equally? The gender wage gap movement
will result in social change because it is bringing awareness to women in the workplace getting paid
lower than her male counterpart. On the other hand, many other people may argue that the gap is not
because of gender, it is because men work longer hours compared to women since they have children
to take care of. I believe that this movement could improve by making people more aware of the
through more examples such as the Women s U.S.A. Soccer Team wanting more pay and equal pay.
The gender wage gap between men and women needs to be brought to people s attention due to the
cause of unequal amount of pay for the exact same job. Our question is what is a gender pay gap? A
gender wage gap is when you take the gap between both men and women s pay and get a certain
percentage and that is the gap between the two. This is a definition of gender pay gap according to an
Australian Government article, A gender pay gap is the difference between women s and men s
earnings, expressed as a percentage of men s earnings. Basically, you take the difference, or subtract,
between men s and women s earnings all over, divide, the men s earnings and you get a percentage of
the gap if there is any. Now, statistics have shown that the women s gap has narrowed some since the
1980 s, but it still continues. Adult women showed that the wage gap is smaller compared to the teen
wage, 90 cents for every dollar made by a man. Said by the article Fact Tank, ...adults ages 25 to 34,
the 2015 wage gap is smaller. Women in this group earned 90 cents for every dollar a man in the same
age group earned. Women within the age group of 25 to 34 gain 90 cents for every dollar a man within
the same age group earned. If you truly think about it sure the gap is slightly smaller, but why is it not
equal? They are around the same age and are doing the same job, whether it be part time or full time.
Now it was also stated within this article that these women, by estimation, would have to work around
44 days extra in order for them to earn what their counterpart made in 2015. However, how does it get
like this? Is it possible that even with same or

Why Is The Battle Of Gettysburg Important
With over 51,000 dead and wounded soldiers, the battle of Gettysburg is arguably the costliest and
bloodiest battle of the Civil war. Many people have heard and maybe even memorized the Gettysburg
Address by President Abraham Lincoln without truly understanding the significance of the battle. To
be able to understand why the battle of Gettysburg was so important, one must understand what
happened during the three day battle, what it was like for the soldiers to fight in the circumstances of
the battle, and the effects of the battle on American History. The battle of Gettysburg is the most well
known and important battle in the Civil War to understand because of the monumental events leading

Lincoln.
The battle of Gettysburg is the most important battle of the Civil War because of the events leading up

Effects Of Human Immunodeficiency Virus
Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a virus spread by bodily fluids of infected individuals; it
results in a depressed immune system as the virus destroys CD4+ cells. There are currently
approximately 89,000 people living with HIV in the UK with 78,900 diagnosed cases. HIV cases are
declining with 5,164 cases diagnosed in 2016 compared to 6,286 in 2015.
The discovery and implementation of antiretroviral therapy (ART) changed the prognosis for many
with HIV from a fatal death sentence to a manageable chronic disease which enables sufferers to lead
full lives. 96% of people living with HIV in the UK accessed ART treatment (Figure 2) in 2016.

Non adherence also increases risk of developing drug resistant viruses putting other members of the
population at risk.
Depression is a common aliment for people suffering from HIV sometimes triggered by life stresses
and stigma resulting from a HIV+ diagnosis. Stress itself is important as it can decrease adherence and
also directly suppress immune function thereby decrease CD4+ levels exacerbating the effects of non
adherence. Patients who were diagnosed as depressed were 1.76 times more likely than those who
were not depressed to not adhere to their ART regimen.
Prescription of antidepressants and psychotherapy sessions demonstrated an increase in ART
adherence. Mindfulness training (MT) involves redirecting attention, avoiding emotional reactions and
developing skills of self regulation. In comparison to a control group the group with an MT
intervention had a decreased viral load on follow up suggesting increased adherence. Studies have
shown that MT decreases anxiety, depression whilst improving sleep quality and cognitive function.
As ARTs do not result in a cure throughout a person s lifetime many different regiments may be
prescribed targeting various stages of the virus replicative cycle. To decreases risk of resistance many
countries prescribe a combination of drugs with multiple doses throughout the day, the NHS

How does the language used by Lord Sugar and the Apprentice Contestants reflect on their role in the
boardroom?
The language used by Lord Sugar and the Apprentice contestants reflects on their role in the
boardroom in a variety of ways; Lord Sugar s language portrays him as being totally in charge and the
vocabulary used by the candidates shows their anxiety. The body language they display also helps to
reinforce their roles.
Lord Sugar is obviously in control of the entire boardroom, he shows this through his choice of
spoken language and body language; by saying can I clarify one thing . This reminds the candidates of
Lord Sugar s powerful position and where the future employee will stand with him; this also provides
a challenge ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I can tell he is very defensive in his speech because he says Lord Sugar with the greatest respect that s
an exaggeration . Jim is trying to persuade Lord Sugar he is incorrect in his thinking. However, Lord
Sugar is not taking what Jim has said into account. Even though Jim is trying to tell Lord Sugar he is
wrong in his thinking, he still addresses Lord Sugar in a formal way, this is most likely because he
feels threatened by Lord Sugar and knows he has the power to fire Jim, this is due to the control Lord
Sugar has over the contestants. So Jim knows he must consistently respect Lord Sugar, even though he
can say what he wishes to. Jim uses a very anxious tone to say this quote; this suggests he is trying to
cover up he has done something wrong. Jim accuses the other contestants, trying to get himself out of
trouble, he knows that if he takes the blame Vincent is more likely to take him back in to the
boardroom. The word exaggeration means Lord Sugar is making a bigger deal out of a situation than it
actually is. This could also suggest Jim is trying to show up Lord Sugar as someone who over
exaggerates.
Lord Sugar comes across as being a very controlling person, however by doing so he keeps everyone
on task. We re in this task later on, he proceeds to say yeah I want you to focus on this task . Lord
Sugar indicates he is controlling the conversation, making sure he is getting all the information he
needs to judge them. He is also

I Shall Use Blackburn s `` Think ``
Initial answer: My initial answer to the question of whether or not we have free will is yes, we do
indeed have free will.
Philosophical Context: I shall use Blackburn s Think to discuss my question and initial answer. In
Think, Blackburn has a chapter dedicated to discussing the presence of free will and both arguments
for and against its presence.
Objection 1: In the beginning of chapter 4 of Think, Blackburn brings up the idea of determinism, or
the idea that every event is the upshot of previous antecedent causes. His argument goes The past
controls the present and the future. You can t control the past. Also, you can t control the way that the
past controls the future. So, you can t control the present or the future. This means that every action or
event that happens in the present was set in motion by the past and there is nothing that you can do it
change it the future has already been set. Therefore, there is no free will involved because you are just
doing what is a consequence of the past events and cannot be held accountable for your actions. Some
may then reference quantum mechanics, as Blackburn does, and say some events just happen as
shown in the quantum world. But this then leads to the same conclusion; whether determinism holds
or it doesn t and events just happen, you will lose freedom and responsibility.
Response to objection 1: Even though we are not able to control the past, that doesn t mean that one
can t change the future or be held

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Solar Power
ABSTRACT
Solar power has a vast potential. The industry is to see large growth in the upcoming future. However,
there are technical and cost limitations which hinder solar power s ability to become a more influential
global electricity source. Despite these limitations, solar power is utilized by many. From homes in the
Unites States to developing countries, solar power is making lives and the world a better place.
Governments must see the potential of solar power and push their country s energy needs away from
fossil fuels and towards renewable sources, such as solar power.
INTRODUCTION
With the reduction of the dependence on fossil fuels, countries and citizens are looking for a way to
fulfill their energy needs. Many turn to solar ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
FINDINGS
The largest obstacle solar power has to overcome is cost. Solar power has high startup costs. Stated in
The Future of Solar Energy, Currently, the estimated installed cost per peak watt for a residential PV
system is approximately 80% greater than that for a utility scale plant, with costs for a typical
commercial scale installation falling somewhere in between. These cost estimates often include costs
for inverters, racking and installation hardware, design and installation labor, and marketing, as well
as various regulatory and financing costs (The Future of Solar Energy). Many do not want to pay for
the upfront costs of instillation of solar energy devices when an alternative energy supplier is already
in place. In order to successfully reduce our carbon emissions, governments must become involved.
Federal money must be allotted to the research and development of solar power for it to become a
viable energy source. In doing so solar power will become less privatized and potentially more
affordable. There has been recent growth in the solar energy due to a 50% 70% drop in reported PV
prices (without federal subsidies) per installed peak watt , and a current federal tax subsidy for solar
generation: a 30% investment tax credit (ITC) (The Future of Solar Energy). The reduction of PV
prices and a tax credit is a positive aspect for solar power, but the prices are still too high for the
masses. The value of a renewable energy source is frequently lost when

The Importance of Delegation
The importance of Delegation Delegation is a way to appropriately and consistently provide direction
to a staff. By delegating properly, managers can teach employees new skills and expertise to help them
to be more productive and instill a sense of self reliance, improving morale and motivation
(Wikipedia, 2006). As a manager, you must assess your staff s current abilities and their potential to
accept and complete assignments through established guidelines. A manager must know how to plan
and coordinate a variety of activities and how to monitor progress. Delegation brings into play many
management functions planning, organizing, coordinating, motivating, communicating, and leading.
Setting goals while delegating can be beneficial to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s important to understand why a manager is reluctant to delegate so that the individual can face
those weak areas. There are times a manager may feel the transfer of a task involves a certain degree
of risk. As a manager your staff may also be thinking about the risk; they are afraid they may be
criticized if they should fail. As a manager you could be reluctant to delegate because you are afraid
the employee may make mistakes or that they think it takes to much time to delegate. The manager
may feel that completing the task themselves would be more efficient or feel they would lose control
if they delegate. When overcoming this weakness a manager should try to start off by choosing
projects or tasks carefully to make sure they are balancing the risk with the potential rewards. This
will prepare the manager for greater responsibility and higher levels of experience.
The manager could give the project or assignment to an employee who they feel can get it done with
little or no direction at all. They may have to educate their staff on the task to be completed, but in the
long run the manager will be able to pass work to others with little guidance at all.
The manger could also sit down and work out a plan of action as to how they plan on delegating the
tasks and assignments. Planning out tasks or projects to be completed and how the manger will
organize those things will help the manger visualize the processes to get the job done. The plan could

John Donne Was A Metaphysical Poet Who Wrote Of Love And
John Donne was a metaphysical poet who wrote of love and religion. Metaphysical poetry is
characterized as being difficult poetry that questions life and religion. John Donne s poetry was
published in 1633, but no one knows the exact date most poems were written. John Donne present
many realistic types of love through monologue characterizations. In the poems The Flea, The
Canonization, and A Valediction: Forbidding Mourning, Donne presents raw sexual love, boastful
love, and true spiritual love.
The speaker in The Flea is presented as a very lustful ,self gratifying smooth talking male who is
trying to convince a woman to have sex with him. To convey this message, he down plays the
importance of sex by saying Mark but this flea, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result, if she has sex with him nothing bad will happen and she will still have her honor.
The speaker in The Canonization is a boastful, love struck male defending his love to a stranger . In
the beginning, the speaker is irritated at the fact someone have the audacity to question his love. The
speaker can not figure out why anyone would have a problem with his love since his love has not hurt
anyone. The speaker then realizes he do not need to justify his love but tell the stranger how
wonderful it is. The speaker believes that their love has made them special and that their bond is
strong. This idea is expressed by saying Call s what you will, we are made such by love ;/ Call her
one, me another fly,/ We re tapers too, and at our own cost die (28 30. The fly and candle conveys two
images of lustfulness. The fly is a symbol of lust and an analogy to a candle is used to say they need
each other to burn. The speaker then convey the idea that their bond is not of a lustful nature by saying
they are like the eagle and dove who combined to make one strong neutral being the phoenix. The
speaker finishes this thought by saying We die and rise the same, and prove/ Mysterious by this love./
We can die by it, if not live by love (26 28). In a boastful tone the speaker is saying even though they

A Rhetorical Analysis Of Blink By Malcolm Gladwell
The human mind is vast and intricate, yet responsive. Everyone has their own special abilities and
talents. Eidetic memory, artistic brilliance, and mathematical mastery are all special skills possessed
by very few, but the one that Gladwell glorifies in his non fiction story, Blink , is the power of
thinking without thinking. He discusses how certain people s subconscious mind has the capacity to
respond to complex dilemmas and situations in less than two seconds. Similar to talents such as
photographic memory and musical mastery, Gladwell states that the adaptive unconscious can be
strengthened and improved. In Blink , Malcolm Gladwell synthesizes a compelling dissertation that
decisions made instantly are just as effective, if not, superior ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Throughout the introduction, Gladwell praises the human brain and our adaptive unconscious by
claiming that it can make a decision within a blink of an eye. It is evident that this is an exaggeration
included to intensify the statement Gladwell is trying to get across. He wants us to understand that,
there can be as much value [in a decision made] in the blink of an eye as in [one that is made after]
months of rational analysis (Gladwell 7). Gladwell also utilizes hyperboles in his introduction during
the beginning with the kouros scandal anecdote. ... In a single glance, [Zeri, Harrison and the other art
historian experts] were able to understand more about the essence of the statute than the team at the
Getty was able to understand after fourteen months (Gladwell 3). Although it is true that the team was
able to identify the flaw almost instantly, Gladwell overexaggerates by claiming that they discovered it
in a single glance. Throughout the introduction, Gladwell refers to the first two seconds . He believes
that the power of knowing what is right within that slim amount of time is a special ability that anyone
can cultivate for themselves. All in all, it is apparent that Gladwell hyperbolizes the immediacy of
snap judgements to emphasize the utmost capacity of the remarkable adaptive

The Role Of Iago In Othello
But I will wear my heart upon my sleeve/ For daws to peck at: I am not what I am (Shakespeare,
Othello). Shakespeare has portrayed Iago in the play of Othello as a cruel character who intends to
destroy any person who believes has wronged him. Iago is a manipulative character showing hatred
especially to his superior. In the play, Iago is the destructive personage yet not all characters have
known about his plots, he has been the reason of the demolition of Othello whom thinks himself to be
an outsider to Venice. Iago has been playing in a way or another the role of the Devil in the play.

one to guide them to the appropriate solution. But they were all mistaken. Othello has believed Iago
and has never comprehended his malicious intentions. He sees him as a relief to his breakdown. In
reality, Iago finds pleasure in seeing everybody facing despair and pain. Having a great status in
Venice, Othello feels strange and have doubts about his identity due to the differences in race and
religion revealed by Iago. He is the Devil of the play. He portrays the worst of people s behaviors. His

They only saw what they wanted up for the taking, and took it, immediately forgetting and invalidating the pride and effort that had previously gone into earning those prizes. To me it will always be one of the saddest moments I ever had the misfortune to watch, because James hesitating, looking at me, and then turning into the crowds is a heartbreaking reminder that anyone can change in a second, even the kindest and most steadfast people can do the wrong thing. • 11. Evaluation Essay On Shrek Recently, I gave my S.H.I.E.L.D Speech for my Oral Com class, and there were many things I did to prepare. First, I had to decide what my idea was going to be. I picked Shrek as my shield because he is awesome and I could tie him into my life without it being too much of a stretch. After I had chosen my topic, I devised a design for my shield. The final shield design was a giant Shrek face with smaller faces of the characters Donkey and the Big Bad Wolf to go alongside Shrek. Then, I began writing my outline. I chose my main points (weirdness, friends, and theatre) because they related to Shrek. Once I had completed my outline, I practiced with it several times twice in class and twice outside of class. It was during my practice outside of class that I realized that I did not have enough information to give a speech that would last over four minutes just from my outline. The prairie was ideally suited for cattle, and successful ranches were soon established in this region, providing New Orleans and the surrounding area with much desired beef. A dual class system emerged with the Acadian settlers, dividing Acadians into the small elite planter class, and the working class farmers; a minor intermediate, middle class existed as well. The elite planters soon adopted slavery, farming large tracts of land. They became successful in farming cotton by the early eighteenth century, which was replaced with sugar by the mid eighteenth century, and rice shortly thereafter. The planters identified with the Creoles, a more wealthy and educated class than the emerging Cajun culture. As farm land became more valued with the profits of cotton in the early part of the nineteenth century, the poorer Acadians in the river valley were forced to sell their land and move into the less desirable unclaimed swamp area. Swamp life was difficult and isolated, but did provide the emigrants with a generous supply of foodstuffs that added to the unique diet of Cajuns. (Cajun Country. The first poem I am going to examine is digging by Seamus Heaney. I will first comment on the title of the poem. Digging has both a metaphorical and literal meaning to it. The literal meaning is that his father and his grandfather are farmers. The poem talks about the men Digging and working, so this explains the literal meaning of the poem. John Owen s Holy Spirit JOHN OWEN S VINDICATION OF HOLY SPIRIT S DEITY AND ITS BENEFITS FOR BELIEVERS Against the Socinians, John Owen vindicated the deity of the Holy Spirit, as well as his benefits for believers, within a Christological context. The Socinians were not the only opponents Owen dealt with, but they were notorious for their anti Trinitarian views. On Owen s theological engagement, Crawford Gribben assessed the Socinian threat as a gift to Owen for drawing attention to the ambiguity of the boundaries of orthodoxy permitted by the state, and that Owen took advantage of the moral panic. While it is true that Owen produced theological works in response to Socinianism, Owen regarded Socinianism as a major threat. The same applies to other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Historical Context John Owen s Context John Owen (1616 1683) was born in Stadhampton, near Oxford, to Henry Owen, a man of Puritan sympathies. After finishing local grammar school, Owen matriculated at Queen s College, Oxford, in 1631. Owen achieved his Bachelor of Arts in 1632. He finished his Master of Arts studies in 1635 and ordained deacon. Then Owen engaged in a 7 year course for a Bachelor of Divinity. In 1642, Owen published A Display of Arminianism, the first among many of his works. Owen soon received much attention and was invited to preach before Parliament. In 1649, after the execution of Charles, Owen again preached to parliament. Here, Oliver Cromwell was present and chose Owen as his chaplain. Owen was then appointed Dean of Christ Church, Oxford, in 1651. In the following year, Owen became vice chancellor and served until 1657. As a preacher who joined Cromwell s revolution, Owen s appointment was a symbolic victory over monarchy. In other words, the new appointments to key university positions were symbolic of the wider ambitions of the Cromwellian administration. As the Oxford Reformer, as Gribben put it, Owen promoted Calvinistic piety that transcended the political and cultural division of the university. Many of us may feel like a part of us is missing but, in reality we ve been taken away from interpersonal communication and interactions. Not only is technology hurting our younger children in society but, many of our adults too. In Ray Bradbury s story, The Veldt he describes how the more technology you have the more dissatisfied you become. Society has come to show us how technology is slowly dehumanizing our world. In our world today, technology has become more and more advanced and it seems to take control over our lives. In the poem, The Veldt the theme had been set on how technology had make life somewhat easier. The gender wage gap movement will result in social change because it is bringing awareness to women in the workplace getting paid lower than her male counterpart. On the other hand, many other people may argue that the gap is not because of gender, it is because men work longer hours compared to women since they have children to take care of. I believe that this movement could improve by making people more aware of the through more examples such as the Women s U.S.A. Soccer Team wanting more pay and equal pay. The gender wage gap between men and women needs to be brought to people s attention due to the cause of unequal amount of pay for the exact same job. Our question is what is a gender pay gap? A gender wage gap is when you take the gap between both men and women s pay and get a certain percentage and that is the gap between the two. This is a definition of gender pay gap according to an Australian Government article, A gender pay gap is the difference between women s and men s earnings, expressed as a percentage of men s earnings. Basically, you take the difference, or subtract, between men s and women s earnings all over, divide, the men s earnings and you get a percentage of the gap if there is any. Now, statistics have shown that the women s gap has narrowed some since the 1980 s, but it still continues. Adult women showed that the wage gap is smaller compared to the teen wage, 90 cents for every dollar made by a man. Said by the article Fact Tank, ...adults ages 25 to 34, the 2015 wage gap is smaller. Women in this group earned 90 cents for every dollar a man in the same age group earned. Women within the age group of 25 to 34 gain 90 cents for every dollar a man within the same age group earned. If you truly think about it sure the gap is slightly smaller, but why is it not equal? They are around the same age and are doing the same job, whether it be part time or full time. However, Lord Sugar is not taking what Jim has said into account. Even though Jim is trying to tell Lord Sugar he is wrong in his thinking, he still addresses Lord Sugar in a formal way, this is most likely because he feels threatened by Lord Sugar and knows he has the power to fire Jim, this is due to the control Lord Sugar has over the contestants. So Jim knows he must consistently respect Lord Sugar, even though he can say what he wishes to. Jim uses a very anxious tone to say this quote; this suggests he is trying to cover up he has done something wrong. Jim accuses the other contestants, trying to get himself out of trouble, he knows that if he takes the blame Vincent is more likely to take him back in to the boardroom. • 41. I Shall Use Blackburn s `` Think `` Initial answer: My initial answer to the question of whether or not we have free will is yes, we do indeed have free will. Philosophical Context: I shall use Blackburn s Think to discuss my question and initial answer. In Think, Blackburn has a chapter dedicated to discussing the presence of free will and both arguments for and against its presence. Objection 1: In the beginning of chapter 4 of Think, Blackburn brings up the idea of determinism, or the idea that every event is the upshot of previous antecedent causes. His argument goes The past controls the present and the future. You can t control the past. Also, you can t control the way that the past controls the future. So, you can t control the present or the future. This means that every action or event that happens in the present was set in motion by the past and there is nothing that you can do it change it the future has already been set. Therefore, there is no free will involved because you are just doing what is a consequence of the past events and cannot be held accountable for your actions. Some may then reference quantum mechanics, as Blackburn does, and say some events just happen as shown in the quantum world. But this then leads to the same conclusion; whether determinism holds or it doesn t and events just happen, you will lose freedom and responsibility. Response to objection 1: Even though we are not able to control the past, that doesn t mean that one can t change the future or be held ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Solar Power ABSTRACT Solar power has a vast potential. The industry is to see large growth in the upcoming future. However, there are technical and cost limitations which hinder solar power s ability to become a more influential global electricity source. Despite these limitations, solar power is utilized by many. From homes in the Unites States to developing countries, solar power is making lives and the world a better place. Governments must see the potential of solar power and push their country s energy needs away from fossil fuels and towards renewable sources, such as solar power. INTRODUCTION With the reduction of the dependence on fossil fuels, countries and citizens are looking for a way to fulfill their energy needs. Many turn to solar ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... FINDINGS The largest obstacle solar power has to overcome is cost. Solar power has high startup costs. Stated in The Future of Solar Energy, Currently, the estimated installed cost per peak watt for a residential PV system is approximately 80% greater than that for a utility scale plant, with costs for a typical commercial scale installation falling somewhere in between. These cost estimates often include costs for inverters, racking and installation hardware, design and installation labor, and marketing, as well as various regulatory and financing costs (The Future of Solar Energy). Many do not want to pay for the upfront costs of instillation of solar energy devices when an alternative energy supplier is already in place. In order to successfully reduce our carbon emissions, governments must become involved. Federal money must be allotted to the research and development of solar power for it to become a viable energy source. In doing so solar power will become less privatized and potentially more affordable. There has been recent growth in the solar energy due to a 50% 70% drop in reported PV prices (without federal subsidies) per installed peak watt , and a current federal tax subsidy for solar generation: a 30% investment tax credit (ITC) (The Future of Solar Energy). The reduction of PV prices and a tax credit is a positive aspect for solar power, but the prices are still too high for the masses. The value of a renewable energy source is frequently lost when ... There are times a manager may feel the transfer of a task involves a certain degree of risk. As a manager your staff may also be thinking about the risk; they are afraid they may be criticized if they should fail. As a manager you could be reluctant to delegate because you are afraid the employee may make mistakes or that they think it takes to much time to delegate. The manager may feel that completing the task themselves would be more efficient or feel they would lose control if they delegate. When overcoming this weakness a manager should try to start off by choosing projects or tasks carefully to make sure they are balancing the risk with the potential rewards. This will prepare the manager for greater responsibility and higher levels of experience. The manager could give the project or assignment to an employee who they feel can get it done with little or no direction at all. They may have to educate their staff on the task to be completed, but in the long run the manager will be able to pass work to others with little guidance at all. The manger could also sit down and work out a plan of action as to how they plan on delegating the tasks and assignments. • 47. A Rhetorical Analysis Of Blink By Malcolm Gladwell The human mind is vast and intricate, yet responsive. Everyone has their own special abilities and talents. Eidetic memory, artistic brilliance, and mathematical mastery are all special skills possessed by very few, but the one that Gladwell glorifies in his non fiction story, Blink , is the power of thinking without thinking. He discusses how certain people s subconscious mind has the capacity to respond to complex dilemmas and situations in less than two seconds. Similar to talents such as photographic memory and musical mastery, Gladwell states that the adaptive unconscious can be strengthened and improved. Throughout the introduction, Gladwell praises the human brain and our adaptive unconscious by claiming that it can make a decision within a blink of an eye. It is evident that this is an exaggeration included to intensify the statement Gladwell is trying to get across. He wants us to understand that, there can be as much value [in a decision made] in the blink of an eye as in [one that is made after] months of rational analysis (Gladwell 7). Gladwell also utilizes hyperboles in his introduction during the beginning with the kouros scandal anecdote. ... In a single glance, [Zeri, Harrison and the other art historian experts] were able to understand more about the essence of the statute than the team at the Getty was able to understand after fourteen months (Gladwell 3). Although it is true that the team was able to identify the flaw almost instantly, Gladwell overexaggerates by claiming that they discovered it in a single glance. Throughout the introduction, Gladwell refers to the first two seconds . He believes that the power of knowing what is right within that slim amount of time is a special ability that anyone can cultivate for themselves.
