Secular Worldview And Secular Worldview
In order to compare the Christian worldview to the secular worldview of account, one must
understand the definition of what a world view is and what a Christian worldview looks like as well as
what a secular worldview looks like. It is not uncommon for individuals to have different worldviews
because the meaning of the word is a set of beliefs one uses to understand the world. All people grow
up viewing the world different because to the different things they experience in their lives. A
worldview defines the basis of how an individual interprets reality. A person s worldview would help
establish one s principles by how they judge right from wrong and it s their guide for everyday living.
A person s worldview shapes the way individuals interact within the world. Worldview plays a major
role when it comes to establishing one s moral opinions such as religious beliefs, marriage, politics,
social structures, environmental concerns, educational standards, economics, children upbringing,
food consumption, and the list continues. Individuals behave according to what they believe, not what
they don t believe. In today s world there are so many different worldviews and spiritual worldviews.
Most worldviews can be summed up into either a secular humanist worldview or a Christian
worldview.
Secular worldview is a religious worldview that states that man is the measure. In this worldview
everything is centered on human beings and they tend to act as God. Individuals with this

could work on better communication with my art teacher. Throughout the trimester I realized that it s
okay to ask for help and advice when I m unsure about my work, even though I think I might not need
to. In additon, time management in terms of balancing time for art projects and academics outside of
school is another challenging area where I could work on practicing. Before Independent art, I never
felt like I was challenged enough with the art classes in my older school. I never considered (to the
point that I do now) the importance of time management in the process of creating art because I
considered many of the assigned projects to be small and easy. Even outside of school, I rarely work

Abstract . The learning process can occur because of the interaction between the individuals and the
learning environment autonomously or intentionally designed. T. A. I. is essentially a cooperative
learning model that divides learners heterogeneously, while snowball throwing models is a
cooperative learning type which is designed like a throwing ball game. This method aims to provoke
creativity in creating the problem as well as testing the mastery of material submitted by the group
leader. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of Team Assisted Individualization (TAI) and

Musculoskeletal Disorder Research Paper
Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) covers a broad spectrum of inflammatory and degenerative
conditions affecting the muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints, peripheral nerves, and supporting blood
vessels.1,2 The symptoms of MSDs includes pain, numbness, tingling, aching, stiffness, or burning.3
Most common body regions affected with MSDs are the low back, neck, shoulder, forearm, and
hand.1 The risk factors associated with MSDs includes forceful exertions, repetitive movements,
awkward and/or sustained postures like prolonged sitting and standing.2 Globally, MSDs is one of the
most common work related illness and causing significant economic burden in terms of lost wages,
treatment and compensation and also responsible for considerable impact on quality of life.4,5 MSDs
increases sickness absenteeism and early retirement resulting in poor productivity at work.6,7
According to Great Britain Labour Force Survey (2016), Work related Musculoskeletal Disorders
(WMSDs) constitute 41% of the total work related illnesses and is accounted for 34% of absenteeism

The Impact Of Technology On The Classroom
The Significance of Technology in My Classroom
The impact on technology in the classroom has opened many new windows for educators. Technology
can be used in various ways while working in a classroom, whether that be a first grade classroom or a
class of juniors in high school. Technology can help our students widen their knowledge. When
planning lessons, it is important that teachers incorporate some types of technology. When technology
is used in your lessons, the students will be able to achieve their learning goals. While using
technology in the classrooms, teachers and students are able to connect with others around the world,
making technology a useful tool in building your classroom into a global learning community. The use
of technology has been able to enhance and individualize learning as well. While using technology it
is important to remember to connect the content being and the specific learning goals, otherwise the
use of technology won t be as helpful during the lesson. The use of technology will supplement
instruction, allowing students to achieve content learning goals. When implementing technology into
your classroom, it is important that you incorporate these aspects into your planning and teaching.
In my fourth grade classroom, technology will be used in planning and achieving student learning
goals. In each of the five lessons I have created, I have provided a video for the students to watch. The
videos are used to introduce each of the five food

Difference Between Equilibrium And Equilibrium
Using your own words, explain why mainstream economists believe a free market tends towards the
equilibrium position. Make comments about the contributions of Jevons and Marshall to our
understanding of the market mechanism. Use as your main references Sheehan (2010) and Heilbroner
(1997).
A free market is a system where there is no government intervention in the business activities. A
capitalist economy is best known for its free market mechanism where the participants are profit
oriented. In a free market economy, there exists a simple market mechanism where all products in the
market are identical. Mainstream economists are under the neoclassical economists who believe that
the free market system and the financial markets usually converge towards attaining an equilibrium

One of the factors affecting the demand of a product is the price per unit of the product. A high price
per unit of the product leads to a decrease in the demand of the product. Secondly, the price of other
related products which include the complement and the substitutes also affects the demand of a
product. (Backhouse, 2005) Thirdly, the buyers income is another factor which affects his decision to
demand a good or a service. The more income the consumer has meant that his demand for a product
is also high. However, mainstream economist argues that demand is affected by the price of the
product alone. As the price of a product increase, the willingness of the consumers to buy the product
decreases. (Sheehan, 2010) Basically, a high price of a product leads to a decrease in the demand of
the product. As the price of the product continues to increase, the consumer may opt to switch to
consumption of the other substituting product. As the price of the commodity decreases, the demand
of the product increases because the product becomes more affordable and it gains a better value for
the money than the substitute

Parental Influence on Clashes with Society in Love in the...
Individuals are generally perceived to be productions of their upbringings and socialization. Latin
author, Gabriel García Márquez and Algerian writer Albert Camus, introduce how their characters
conflict with socialization as a result of their cultivation in Love in the Time of Cholera and The
Stranger respectively. In Márquez s novel, the key female role is assigned to Fermina Daza, a middle
class Latina in the 1800s 1900s, expected to hold prestige and marry wealthy by her father and
societal pressures. In The Stranger, Meursault, the protagonist, develops a niche for logic rather than

Márquez s tone in Lorenzo s actions was violent to make his opposition vivid, while Fermina s fear
influenced her decision to do something out of societal norms. In retaliation to his controlling ways,
she cuts off her braid, which in Latin culture, represents beauty in women, symbolizing that she
neither wanted nor cared to be affiliated by generic beauty expected by society, but instead to be
identified as an individual.
Lorenzo Daza s obsession with progression of status interferes with his daughter s development as a
conventional woman. He claims, the only thing worse than bad health is a bad name (Márquez 81).
His opposition to their natural lifestyle and controlling manner is a catalyst of Fermina s later clashes
with male roles in the novel. For example, she ultimately marries Dr. Urbino as her father wished,
characterized as a fastidious and esteemed man; however her relationship with him suffers. After,
Fermina discovers that her husband took partition in an affair with a mullata, she unlike many

Mpaa s Rating System In This Film Is Not Yet Rated
The 2006 film, This Film is Not Yet Rated , argues that the Motion Picture Association of America s
(MPAA s) rating system for films is a form of censorship with underlying purposes. The rating system
s purposes as the film presents include profit, box office numbers, image, control and company
interest. The film presents its thesis with facts, independent investigation and commentary by people
within the film industry and those that the MPAA s film rating system directly affects. The film makes
a persuasive argument that the MPAA s rating system is a form of censorship. The enemies of movies
and ratings include Jack Valenti, Joan Graves and the MPAA. Valenti is the overseer of the MPAA and
Graves is the head of the MPAA review board. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This affirmation is not too unbelievable because Valenti comes from Washington according to the
film. It is not absurd for Valenti and the MPAA to have acquaintances that have specific interest that
Valenti and the MPAA try to fulfill. In doing so Valenti and the MPAA may receive legislation in their
favor or funding from his acquaintances. Dick reveals another facet of his argument to the viewers
when he examines who is on the board of appeals of movie ratings at the MPAA. This board decides if
a movie rating should be appealed on a case by case basis. The appeals board is made of many people.
These people are not your common, plain and everyday type of people that the MPAA wants you to
believe they are according to the movie. The movie explains the people on the appeals board include
people that represent big companies in the media world. Some of the companies the movies mention
being represented include Regal Entertainment Group, Sony Pictures, Fox Searchlight Pictures and
others. Allowing big companies to control what films make it to the screen can cripple certain movies
that the group does not see fit to be on display to the public. These groups can also eliminate movies
that pose a threat to their specific film s profit and box office

Critical Race Theory Analysis
In May 2018, more than a million school age children from Grades 3 and 5 in primary school and
Years 7 and 9 in secondary schools across Australia will complete the National Assessment Program
Literacy and Numeracy Test (NAPLAN). Millions of students around the world are similarly tested in
schools with their own versions of standardised testing. I am going to discuss that NAPLAN and other
forms of testing excludes specific groups of people such as students with an Indigenous background,
an English as an Additional Language background and students with a disability using critical race
theory.
From my own personal experience, NAPLAN was not around until I was in Year 9, I remember being

The publication of results of NAPLAN served to clearly reiterate disparities in academic outcomes
when Indigenous students were compared with non Indigenous. There can be little doubt that the
statistics speak of the grave urgency to improve the achievement outcomes and engagement of
Indigenous students in education: for example, 63.4% of Year 5 Indigenous students were at or above
the national benchmark in literacy and numeracy compared with 92.6% of non Indigenous students.
The Closing the gap policy offers unrealistic targets that fails to respond to contextually specific needs
of individuals or communities and is imbued with continuing assimilationist undercurrents. Accepting
this critique enables the policy to be viewed as failing to serve the interests or needs of many
Indigenous students; indeed, the policy can arguably be viewed as politically motivated by White
interests. (Vass, 2013, p.90) The data indicates that there is still a necessity to teach Indigenous
students the skills for NAPLAN, however, the results of NAPLAN at the national benchmark is still
different between Indigenous and Non Indigenous students. Furthermore, Critical Race theory then
has a following question as whom will

Informative Essay On Paper Balloon Bombs
Balloon bombs were the silent assassins of World War 2. Hitching a ride on a jet stream, these
weapons from Japan could float soundlessly across the Pacific Ocean to their marks in North America.
One of World War II s best kept secrets was of the Japanese balloon bomb attack. Lacking a practical
means to attack the North American continent, the Japanese constructed 9,000 large hydrogen
balloons, attached incendiary and anti personnel bombs to them, and set them afloat on the high
altitude trade winds towards the United States. The balloons were crafted from mulberry paper, glued
together with potato starch paste and filled with hydrogen. They were 33 feet across and could lift
approximately 1,000 pounds. The balloons were programmed to ... Show more content on

To date, only about 300 balloons have been reported as sighted or discovered over the years, with no
trace of hysteria or forest fires breaking out in the wake of their arrival on American soil. There was
one reported deadly incident, though. On May 5, 1945 in Bly, Oregon, five children and a pastor s
pregnant wife, Elsie Mitchell, were killed as they played with the large paper balloon, unaware of its
explosive contents. In 1950, a memorial for the victims, called the Mitchell Monument, was
constructed in Oregon near the site of the bombing. It reads: Only place on the American continent
where death resulted from enemy action during World War II. Between November 1944 and April
1945, the Japanese military launched more than 9,000 of the pilotless weapons in an operation

the jet stream winds were only powerful enough in wintertime when snowy and damp conditions in
North American forests precluded the ignition of large

Shockwave Is A Short Duration Acoustic Wave That Carries
Shockwave is a short duration acoustic wave that carries energy and can be used as a stimulus to heal
damaged tissue. Years ago, shockwaves first started to affect swimmers on a South Pacific beach.
Researchers found that when mines were blasted in the water the high energy shockwaves would
damage the internal organs of the swimmers. As researchers kept studying the effects of shockwaves,
they developed a treatment for kidney stones by controlling the power of the shockwaves that were
released. Extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) is a noninvasive treatment that delivers high or

Connective tissues have many different cell types. Fixed cells, such as fibroblasts and mast cells, stay
part of the tissue for a long period of time. Wandering cells, such as macrophages, do the opposite.
They are seen in tissues for short periods of time, usually when there is an infection. Connective
tissues can be broken down into two categories, connective tissue proper and specialized connective
tissues. Connective tissue proper includes loose connective tissue, adipose tissue (fat), and dense
connective tissue. Specialized connective tissue includes cartilage, bone, and blood. Muscle tissues are
found attached to the bones, the walls of hollow internal organs, and the heart. Their main function
involves movement. These tissues react to a stimulus called muscle fibers. When these muscle fibers
contract, they pull at their attached ends and this is how we move different parts of our body. There are
three main types of muscle tissue: skeletal, smooth, and cardiac. Skeletal muscle tissues are found in
muscles attached to bones. Smooth muscle tissues are found on the walls of hollow internal organs.
Cardiac muscle tissues are only in the heart. The last major type of tissue is nervous tissues, which are
found in the brain, spinal cord, and nerves. Their function is to send impulses for coordination,

Television Is The Middle Of The Road, And Abc
I don t get much of an opportunity to watch the national news on the television (and never on cable);
but when I do, it s fairly easy to pick out which political slant each network is depicting. It appears to
me, and this is my opinion, that ABC, NBC and CNN lean pretty far left, CBS is more the middle of
the road, and FOX and its affiliates lean (fall over) to the right. I would guess that, based upon my
readings of other people s opinions of those broadcasters, that that is the general consensus of the
public. That being said, I do read more than I watch TV, and sometimes it is just painfully obvious
which way a particular news website or newspaper slants their reporting. For example, I think one of
the better newspapers as far as equal coverage of both the left and right is USA Today. They do an
excellent job of presenting both sides of most arguments, and offer opinions that really make me angry
sometimes, and some that I couldn t agree with more. I think that s the definition of balance in the
media, and I enjoy it the most. There are others, however, that I read that pander to a specific political
group; for example, the Kansas City Star. It never fails that the KC Star virtually attacks the right wing
of the Republican party. They seem, to me, to be so impartial, that it takes away a great amount of
their credibility; and I lean left! Most of the news I get is via the internet; I have a selection of various

Questions which often arise when determining if someone is driving under the influence are: Does the

Essay on Pepe le Moko
Julien Duvivier s film Pépé le Moko is a remarkable story, and a powerful personal account of French
colonial life. The socio political subtext of the story is an important one, which brings to the forefront
the particular allure of
Casbah and the idiosyncrasies of its inhabitants. This subtext of the narrative connotes the desire and
fascination with the exotic. Jean Gabin s character is a thief, who while running from the law becomes
immersed in the maze of the city of Casbah. In light of Edward Said s ideas of Orientalism,
specifically in terms of the cultural exchanges that take place in the affiliation of colonialism, the
foreign element (as an other ) can become a model with which Western civilization defines itself. The

The intersection of this similarity is in the fact that the girlfriends taken by most of the members of his
gang are native women, and correspondingly the way that the native women are shown occasionally
as prostitutes. The magnetism that is created around Pépé and Gaby is related to this. His fascination
with her is an exhibition of his longing for the familiarity of Paris and the sanctity of his past, a
familiarity that is distant to him in Casbah. In her, Pépé is reminded of life outside the walls of
Casbah. His gradual rejection of Ines in favor of Gaby suggests his shifting disposition and his
consuming desire for Paris, possibly even a disgust of the colonialist enterprise on a deeper level.
Gaby s jewelry is a constant reminder of these ideas. The diamond is one of the most readily
identifiable symbols of the colonial process, a reminder of the exploitation of resources by the British
in
South Africa. Gaby is attracted to Pépé in a similar way. The radical distinction that he embodies as a
gangster differentiates him from the upper class, mainland
Frenchmen that she would typically be acquainted with.
The fragility of Pépé s relationship with Gaby is that it is on the verge of intangibility. On the average
day she could just as easily be his victim, as the cash value of her jewels are the main focus of the
gang.

The Tenant Of Tenants And Landlords
As it often happens, there may come a time when a manager of an apartment building (landlord) and a
tenant argument rises up. These arguments can pop up over many different issues including lease
agreement rights, responsibility for repairs to the property, rent, evictions, and more. It is unfortunate
that not all tenants and landlord s arguments can be settled by a simple conversation between both
parties to the lease. While many people in the U.S. are homeowners a great many other people live as
tenants in different types of rental residences. Even though tenants don t actually own their rental
residences they do receive certain rights almost the same in some ways to ownership rights. Tenants of
rental residences and their landlords also have responsibilities to each other, including residence
repairs. Depending on the situation/event, a tenant or a landlord may be responsible for making repairs
to the tenant s rental residence.
Knowledge of state law is extremely important to both tenants and landlords. Managers of apartment
buildings want to run a money making business and protect their investment. Tenants want to be
happy in their rental homes and protect their rights. At the end of the day, managers of apartment
buildings and people who occupy those rooms want to avoid legal hassles when it comes to rent,
deposits, repairs, and other key issues. Let s take a look at Larry s and Roger s situation and figure out
the best course of actions from both points of view.

Tiepolo Allegory
The artwork that got my most attention would be Giovanni Battista Tiepolo s An Allegory
Representing the Glory and Magnanimity of Princes . The painting started as a fresco on a wall, then
later transferred to a canvas. When you see it in real life its very immense in its linear height. The
work includes two life size human sculptors standing on a monolith or obelisk that is pointing to the
heavens. One of the sculptors of a man was represented as a warrior, because Tiepolo paints him with
armor while sitting on a scared looking lion. This show the prowess and superiority over a great beast,
a beast the usually creates fear in humans. Then Tiepolo achieves balance by painting a sculpture of a
woman next to the warrior. The painting of the woman can be interpreted as being elegant and

ABSTRACT
The focus of this study was to examine activity based costing from the perspective of competitive
advantage. ABC can support the strategic management process and provide significant benefit to
organizations. This examination utilized the contingency theory as a theoretical basis for the study.
Descriptive survey design was adopted. The data gathering instrument employed for this study is a
structured questionnaire. Data are analyzed through SPSS version 16. Reliability analysis using
Cronbach s alpha value was applied on data collected. Factor analysis was employed using principal
component method followed by Varimax with Kaiser Normalization, to find the factors or dimensions
that explain variances by the data set. The factor analysis is based on four dimensions, namely, overall
performance, strategic cost allocation method, increased efficiency and increased effectiveness having
the factor loadings of over ±0.3. The regression results are positive and significant at the 5% level.
Findings reveal that there is no statistically significant difference in cost reduction attained by ABC
over Traditional costing, though ABC tended to have higher effect.

How Did The Ku Klux Klan Affect Our Society
Since 1865, the Ku Klux Klan has been responsible for America s many atrocities in history. Driven
by hatred and resentment, the Klan terrorized minorities of all kinds in this country for more than a
century. Extending into almost every southern state by 1870, it became a vehicle for white southern
resistance to the Republican Party s Reconstruction era policies. This single violent group was
responsible for thousands of deaths, and would help to weaken the political power of Southern blacks
and Republicans. On December 24, 1865, during the reconstruction of the South after the Civil War,
six Confederate veterans from Pulaski, Tennessee created the infamous Ku Klux Klan. Confederate
General Nathan Bedford Forrest became Grand Wizard of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Simmons, in 1915, on Stone Mountain, Georgia. This new version of the Klan focused mainly on new
areas such as anti Catholicism and anti immigration and they supported prohibition. It stressed
fundamentalism in religion. A pamphlet published in Atlanta by Simmons in 1917, brought into the
light the Klan s goals as to shield the sanctity of the home and the chastity of womanhood; to maintain
white supremacy; to teach and faithfully inculcate a high spiritual philosophy through an exalted
ritualism; and by a practical devotedness to conserve, protect and maintain the distinctive institutions,
rights, privileges, principles and ideals of a pure Americanism. (McWhirter, Cameron 65) The new
founder of the Klan recruited many new followers by joining fraternal organizations. The new
members paid initiation fees and received Ku Klux Klan costumes in return. The Klan presented itself
as a fraternal, activist and ardently patriotic organization. In 1922, 1924, and1926 the Klan elected
many state officials and a number of Congressmen even though they professed themselves
nonpolitical. The organization took its symbol, a burning cross, and held rallies, parades, and marches
around the country (History 2). The burning cross was simply a symbol of intimidation. Its lighting
during meetings was often accompanied by prayer and singing of hymns. At its peak in the 1920 s,
Klan membership exceeded four million people nationwide. Members were drawn from all sectors of
society, and many civic leaders, politicians, and law enforcement officials either belonged or deferred
to the Klan. The growing violence from the Klan caused wide resentment, and by 1922 a number of
anti Klan organizations had formed all over the place. A prominent Protestant minister, Reinhold
Niebuhr spoke out against the Klan and that gained national attention. After that, many opposing
groups started speaking out against the Klan and their violent ways. One

Assignment On Deck Repairs And Costs
Deck Repairs and Costs
The type of wood that comprises your deck will play a big role in determining what repairs are
necessary, and on what timeline. While composite decks are becoming more and more popular, there s
just no denying the beauty and longevity of a wood deck. Wood decks should last for several decades
when properly maintained, and cost less to install than composite decks.
Wood decks also increase the value of your home, and it is estimated that a standard wood deck will
recoup on average 85.4 percent of its cost when the house is sold. In comparison, a composite deck
will only recoup an average 77.6 percent of its total cost.
Regardless of which type of wood your current deck is made of, the following repairs are most often
required at some point in the life of your deck:
Replacing Deck Boards
One of the most common repair projects is replacing deck boards. You might need to do this for a
variety of reasons, including:
● Instability If the boards themselves have become unstable, they should be replaced. Replacing a few
deck boards will generally run $500 to 4,000. Some companies charge a minimum of $1,000 for
carpentry repairs, so be sure to get quotes.
● Stairs and/or railing that are loose or not up to code Depending on the severity of the issue with your
stairs or railing, expect to pay anywhere from $500 to $4,000 for this type of repair job, depending on
local rates and materials.
● Mildew Mold and mildew can build up in decks that haven t been

Frederick Douglass And Regionalism
When people hear the word Realism, they think of literature or something that contributes to art.
Realism was an artistic movement that was brought upon by France in the 1850s. Realism came about
as a reaction against the supernatural nature of Romanticism. It sought out to show the truth of
everyday American life. This essay is going to dig deeper into American society, literature, religion,
writers, Naturalism, and Regionalism; and what Realism had to do with this change.
An African American man by the name of Frederick Douglass was a freed slave, abolitionist, and
writer. He wrote a famous speech called The meaning of July Fourth for the Negro, which he soon
published as a booklet. This speech was written to show the audience what the Fourth of July meant
for an African American and the attitude that American society had towards slavery. Frederick
questioned: Are the great principles of political freedom and of natural justice, embodied in the
Declaration of Independence, extended to us (blacks)? Douglass continued to say This Fourth of July
is yours, not mine. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He wrote many short stories involving Regionalism. Regionalism is literature that focuses on the
characters, dialect, customs, topography, and other features particular to a specific region. The
Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County is a short story written by Mark Twain. The story is
about a man who is tricked into believing a story about a southern man named John Smiley. Language
is a huge part of Regionalism because it connects to the plot and setting. In this story, the main
character is from the South, in which he also speaks in a southern way. This makes the story seem
more realistic because the setting and language are both depicted in a southern way. Realism also
plays a part in this story because these two characters do not show any form of heroism or scientific

My Memorable Journey
A Memorable Journey With A Friend
On the date of October 27th 2017, me and my friend Tovah were on our way to a cabin in Branson for
her birthday. While we were there we went shopping at Tanger Outlets and we went to The Haunted
Lost Cavern at Top Of The Rock. Now in the essay below you will read about my memorable journey
with my friend Tovah.
It was seven o clock so when we got there so we just watched TV then went to bed. The next day, we
went shopping at Tanger Outlets and while we were there we got some awesome fudge. We went to
Bath and Body and I bought six bottles of hand sanitizer and gave one to Tovah. I also bought a hand
sanitizer holder and it came with two so I gave one to Tovah and I kept one for myself. When we were
done shopping we ate lunch then went back to the cabin. We started a fire in the fireplace but the vent
was closed so the cabin filled up with smoke that made Tovah sleepy so she took a nap.
When it was about nine o clock, we woke her up and we went to Top Of The Rock. We were there to
go to the Haunted Lost Cavern. We only had to wait a little bit until we could get on the bus to go to
the cavern. On the way down a few people scare you. When you get to around the area of the cavern,
people are there so they can take your picture.
When you first get in there s a crazy lady chases you around with a fake leg. After you get past her it
was just a bunch of mechanical things. When you get to another part of the cavern there are sheets

Impact Of Participating During The Vita Program At Umd
Impact of Participating in the VITA Program at UMD.
Take a minute: look at your goals, look at your performance, see if your behavior matches your goals.
Kenneth H. Blanchard, The One Minute Manager. The first thing I learned while taking BMGT 398A
was to set goals for my performance at the beginning of my internship, and reviewing them
throughout the semester to make sure I was working toward meeting those goals. Participating in the
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program at the University of Maryland allowed me to not
only apply what I have learned in business courses, but it also helped me expand my teamwork and
customer service skills. There seems to be a consensus among accounting professors and scholars that

Participating in the VITA program has encouraged me learn more about taxation and possibly pursue a
career in that field. In fact, next semester I will be taking Taxation of Corporations, Partnerships, and
Estates (BMGT 417).
Setting learning goals, strategies, and achievement measures at the beginning of the semester helped
me gain the most out of the VITA program. One of my learning goals was to learn how to complete
resident and nonresident tax returns; my strategy for this goal was to complete 5 resident and 15
nonresident tax returns. During the first week of the program, I learned how to complete nonresident
tax returns and apply available tax treaties to customers from applicable nationalities. By the end of
the program, I completed 5 resident returns and 10 nonresident returns. Additionally, I reviewed 10 tax
returns that were completed by other volunteers.
After gaining experience completing various tax returns during the first week of the VITA program, I
was elected to become a team leader for the remainder of the program. This was a little scary at first as
I did not expect to be placed in a leadership position when I joined the program. Nonetheless,
becoming a team leader helped me develop my team management skills, which became one of the
learning goals I set in the learning contract. At the beginning of every shift, I reached out to team
members to see whether they were working on a current client and if they needed any

Tarasoff V. Regents Case Study
One of the most important concepts in the field of social work and psychology is known as the duty to
warn and duty to protect. Duty to warn mandates mental health professionals to break client
confidentiality when they believe their client may harm. The duty to warn became a law in 1974 when
the California Supreme Court ruled that mental health professionals must have the duty to protect a
victim if the therapist believes that not warning them would protect them, the therapist must notify the
police or other authorities. There is a debate around duty to warn; many therapists feel that some
threats may not be credible. For example, a patient telling his therapist that they could just kill their
mother for grounding them from all their electronics ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Regents case has been an ongoing controversial debate for many therapists, as this began the start of
the duty to warn, duty to protect. Prosenjit Poddar was a graduate of the University of California. He
developed a strong infatuation with a woman he met at dance class named Tatiana Tarasoff. They
briefly dated, but Tarasoff called it quits as she wanted to continue to pursue other men. Poddar was
still very much in love with Tarasoff, and fell into a deep depression, and began stalking Tarasoff.
Poddar found a therapist at Berkley s Cowell Memorial Hospital by the name of Lawrence Moore. In
his last therapy session with Dr. Moore, he disclosed how he intended to kill his ex Tatiana Tarasoff.
Dr. Moore had diagnosed Poddar with acute paranoid schizophrenic reaction and called campus police
proposing that Poddar is brought to a psychiatric hospital for observation. The police brought in
Poddar for questioning but was later released when he stated he would stay clear of Tarasoff. Dr.
Moore was ordered by his supervisor not to request any further actions from the police for Poddar.

How Is Andries Gouw And Hiding Behind Simple Things
This research essay is based on Andries Gouws series of oil paintings entitled Hiding Behind Simple
Things . The reason that this specific series of artworks has been chosen, is because it fits in almost
perfectly with the theme I have chosen to embark upon, in terms of subject matter, medium,
composition, and style. Both artworks analyze society s oblivion to life, and how the beauty in life so
often goes unnoticed. It comments on how society has become entrapped in the rat race of modern day
living. Both artworks do this by painting small, often unnoticed, objects that surround society every
day.
Hiding Behind Simple Things comprises of a series of photorealistic oil paintings that portray
mundane, everyday, common objects. Both my works, Egg Shells and Crumpled Can , as well as
Hiding Behind Simple Things , make use of the same medium, oil paint. Similar subject matter has
also been used in both artworks, in that mundane, everyday objects are captured in both. They are also
both making a comment on how society has become oblivious to the simple things around them.
People are too caught up in their own world, in their own rat race, that they fail to see the beauty in
everything around them, including the beauty deep within themselves, in their souls. Andries Gouws,

The Psychological Effects Of Smoking
One thing that smoking affects that a lot of people do not think about is how it affects the people
around the smoker, not only in a physical way but emotionally also. According to a study, kids whose
parents smoke are three times more likely to smoke when they get older. If smokers have kids,
smoking around them increases their risk of having ear infections, asthma and other breathing
problems that include coughs, shortness of breath, and even bronchitis. It s not just children that are at
risk of lung and heart problems, it s every person around a smoker that are put at risk due to
secondhand smoke. Secondhand smoke contains over 7,000 chemicals. Hundreds of them being toxic
and 70 have shown to cause cancer in humans. Breathing in secondhand smoke has been shown to
have instant effects on the cardiovascular system of nearby individuals, whether it s from a neighbor s
burning cigarette or from a cigarette outside your window. Over time, it takes a toll on people s lungs
and has been found to increase the risk of having a stroke by 20 30% (Quitterscircle). Smoking also
has an impact on pets and animals. Exposure to secondhand smoke for dogs increases the risk of them
getting lung cancer and nasal cancer, especially long nosed dogs like greyhounds. Cats that are
exposed to secondhand smoke are more than three times as likely to non Hodgkin s lymphoma. They
may also suffer from asthma or lung cancer. Secondhand smoke can also affect the eyesight of birds

Brain Symbolism
The symbolism of the heart being related to the brain I feel is very unlikely. Although studies have
shown that in recent research of the heart they have found little details on how they have discovered
little neutrons and protons and nerve cells that can relate to the brain making it more believable that
the heart is much more than just another organ. The heart does not only just pump blood but they also
think the heart can transplant memories from the donor s past experiences. The symbolism of the heart
is a tricky thing to describe and relate to the brain as the human body is more complex than we could
have ever thought. When it comes down to the emotions, feelings, and memories people say they have

The fourth truth is to be brought into being, the truth of the eightfold ariya path leading to the
cessation of suffering. (Robinson)
The first two steps in the Eightfold Path, which leads to the cessation of suffering, are right
understanding and right resolution; a person must first discover and experience the correctness of the
Four Noble Truths, and then resolve to follow the correct path. The next three steps form a kind of
unit: right speech, right behavior, and right livelihood. These reflect the external aspects of a person s
life, which must not be neglected. The interior disciplines constitute the final three steps: right efforts,
right mindfulness, and right contemplation. By this means, the follower of Buddha can arrive at
Nirvana. (Robinson)
Buddhists do not believe in transcendent or any other type of god or gods, the need for a personal
savior, the power of prayer, eternal life in heaven or hell after death as many of the western religions
do. They do believe in reincarnation: the concept that one must go through many cycles of birth, living
and death. After many of these cycles, if a person releases their attachment to desire and the self they
can then attain Nirvana. The teachings of Buddhism effectively deal with the question of human
beings very existence and pursue the surest way toward establishing a secure basis for living. It is a
practical system, which provides a means to realize a state of self perfection. (Field)

Narrative For The Timken Company Valuation Of Acquisition...
Narrative for the Timken Company Valuation of Acquisition of Torrington
The first step in completing this case study was to determine what hypothesis needed to be tested. We
came up with the following six questions that needed to be answered in our research and calculations:
1. What synergies, if any, can the Timken Company expect through its acquisition of Torrington?
What are the risks?
2. What is the value of Torrington including the expected synergies of its acquisition by the Timken
Company?
3. Is this valuation higher than the value of Torrington by itself?
4. How should the Timken Company seek to structure this acquisition?
5. What will the impacts of this deal be on their investment grade status?
6. Should Timken seek to keep investment grade status, or forego this requirement in structuring the
deal?
Step One Evaluate the Potential Synergies and Risks of the Acquisition
At the time of this case study, 2002, Timken was involved in company wide restructuring. They were
consolidating current operational segments into global business units to reduce expenses. Their goal
was more penetration in global markets due to reduced growth in the US based on the bearing industry
s cyclical nature. Analysts predicted 2 3% industry growth in the US, but 6.5% global growth through
2005. The slow US growth was directly tied to the automotive industry s cyclical nature, which was
declining in 2002. Global penetration would help to achieve economies of scale, whilst hedging the

Individuals behave according to what they believe, not what they don t believe. In today s world there are so many different worldviews and spiritual worldviews. Technology can be used in various ways while working in a classroom, whether that be a first grade classroom or a class of juniors in high school. Technology can help our students widen their knowledge. When planning lessons, it is important that teachers incorporate some types of technology. When technology is used in your lessons, the students will be able to achieve their learning goals. While using technology in the classrooms, teachers and students are able to connect with others around the world, making technology a useful tool in building your classroom into a global learning community. The use of technology has been able to enhance and individualize learning as well. While using technology it is important to remember to connect the content being and the specific learning goals, otherwise the use of technology won t be as helpful during the lesson. The use of technology will supplement instruction, allowing students to achieve content learning goals. When implementing technology into your classroom, it is important that you incorporate these aspects into your planning and teaching. A free market is a system where there is no government intervention in the business activities. A capitalist economy is best known for its free market mechanism where the participants are profit oriented. His fascination with her is an exhibition of his longing for the familiarity of Paris and the sanctity of his past, a familiarity that is distant to him in Casbah. In her, Pépé is reminded of life outside the walls of Casbah. His gradual rejection of Ines in favor of Gaby suggests his shifting disposition and his consuming desire for Paris, possibly even a disgust of the colonialist enterprise on a deeper level. Gaby s jewelry is a constant reminder of these ideas. The diamond is one of the most readily identifiable symbols of the colonial process, a reminder of the exploitation of resources by the British in South Africa. • 27. My Memorable Journey A Memorable Journey With A Friend On the date of October 27th 2017, me and my friend Tovah were on our way to a cabin in Branson for her birthday. While we were there we went shopping at Tanger Outlets and we went to The Haunted Lost Cavern at Top Of The Rock. Now in the essay below you will read about my memorable journey with my friend Tovah. It was seven o clock so when we got there so we just watched TV then went to bed. The next day, we went shopping at Tanger Outlets and while we were there we got some awesome fudge. We went to Bath and Body and I bought six bottles of hand sanitizer and gave one to Tovah. I also bought a hand sanitizer holder and it came with two so I gave one to Tovah and I kept one for myself. When we were done shopping we ate lunch then went back to the cabin. We started a fire in the fireplace but the vent was closed so the cabin filled up with smoke that made Tovah sleepy so she took a nap. When it was about nine o clock, we woke her up and we went to Top Of The Rock. We were there to go to the Haunted Lost Cavern. We only had to wait a little bit until we could get on the bus to go to the cavern. On the way down a few people scare you. When you get to around the area of the cavern, people are there so they can take your picture. When you first get in there s a crazy lady chases you around with a fake leg. After you get past her it was just a bunch of mechanical things. When you get to another part of the cavern there are sheets hanging from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Take a minute: look at your goals, look at your performance, see if your behavior matches your goals. Kenneth H. Blanchard, The One Minute Manager. The first thing I learned while taking BMGT 398A was to set goals for my performance at the beginning of my internship, and reviewing them throughout the semester to make sure I was working toward meeting those goals. Participating in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program at the University of Maryland allowed me to not only apply what I have learned in business courses, but it also helped me expand my teamwork and customer service skills. Participating in the VITA program has encouraged me learn more about taxation and possibly pursue a career in that field. In fact, next semester I will be taking Taxation of Corporations, Partnerships, and Estates (BMGT 417). Setting learning goals, strategies, and achievement measures at the beginning of the semester helped me gain the most out of the VITA program. One of my learning goals was to learn how to complete resident and nonresident tax returns; my strategy for this goal was to complete 5 resident and 15 nonresident tax returns. During the first week of the program, I learned how to complete nonresident tax returns and apply available tax treaties to customers from applicable nationalities. By the end of the program, I completed 5 resident returns and 10 nonresident returns. Additionally, I reviewed 10 tax returns that were completed by other volunteers. After gaining experience completing various tax returns during the first week of the VITA program, I was elected to become a team leader for the remainder of the program. This was a little scary at first as I did not expect to be placed in a leadership position when I joined the program. Nonetheless, becoming a team leader helped me develop my team management skills, which became one of the learning goals I set in the learning contract. At the beginning of every shift, I reached out to team members to see whether they were working on a current client and if they needed any ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 31. Tarasoff V. Regents Case Study One of the most important concepts in the field of social work and psychology is known as the duty to warn and duty to protect. Duty to warn mandates mental health professionals to break client confidentiality when they believe their client may harm. The duty to warn became a law in 1974 when the California Supreme Court ruled that mental health professionals must have the duty to protect a victim if the therapist believes that not warning them would protect them, the therapist must notify the police or other authorities. There is a debate around duty to warn; many therapists feel that some threats may not be credible. They briefly dated, but Tarasoff called it quits as she wanted to continue to pursue other men. Poddar was still very much in love with Tarasoff, and fell into a deep depression, and began stalking Tarasoff. Poddar found a therapist at Berkley s Cowell Memorial Hospital by the name of Lawrence Moore. In his last therapy session with Dr. Moore, he disclosed how he intended to kill his ex Tatiana Tarasoff. Dr. Moore had diagnosed Poddar with acute paranoid schizophrenic reaction and called campus police proposing that Poddar is brought to a psychiatric hospital for observation. The police brought in Poddar for questioning but was later released when he stated he would stay clear of Tarasoff. • 32. How Is Andries Gouw And Hiding Behind Simple Things This research essay is based on Andries Gouws series of oil paintings entitled Hiding Behind Simple Things . The reason that this specific series of artworks has been chosen, is because it fits in almost perfectly with the theme I have chosen to embark upon, in terms of subject matter, medium, composition, and style. Both artworks analyze society s oblivion to life, and how the beauty in life so often goes unnoticed. It comments on how society has become entrapped in the rat race of modern day living. Both artworks do this by painting small, often unnoticed, objects that surround society every day. Hiding Behind Simple Things comprises of a series of photorealistic oil paintings that portray mundane, everyday, common objects. Both my works, Egg Shells and Crumpled Can , as well as Hiding Behind Simple Things , make use of the same medium, oil paint. Similar subject matter has also been used in both artworks, in that mundane, everyday objects are captured in both. They are also both making a comment on how society has become oblivious to the simple things around them. People are too caught up in their own world, in their own rat race, that they fail to see the beauty in everything around them, including the beauty deep within themselves, in their souls. The Psychological Effects Of Smoking One thing that smoking affects that a lot of people do not think about is how it affects the people around the smoker, not only in a physical way but emotionally also. According to a study, kids whose parents smoke are three times more likely to smoke when they get older. If smokers have kids, smoking around them increases their risk of having ear infections, asthma and other breathing problems that include coughs, shortness of breath, and even bronchitis. It s not just children that are at risk of lung and heart problems, it s every person around a smoker that are put at risk due to secondhand smoke. Secondhand smoke contains over 7,000 chemicals. Hundreds of them being toxic and 70 have shown to cause cancer in humans. Breathing in secondhand smoke has been shown to have instant effects on the cardiovascular system of nearby individuals, whether it s from a neighbor s burning cigarette or from a cigarette outside your window. Over time, it takes a toll on people s lungs and has been found to increase the risk of having a stroke by 20 30% (Quitterscircle). Smoking also has an impact on pets and animals. Exposure to secondhand smoke for dogs increases the risk of them getting lung cancer and nasal cancer, especially long nosed dogs like greyhounds. The next three steps form a kind of unit: right speech, right behavior, and right livelihood. These reflect the external aspects of a person s life, which must not be neglected. Narrative for the Timken Company Valuation of Acquisition of Torrington The first step in completing this case study was to determine what hypothesis needed to be tested. We came up with the following six questions that needed to be answered in our research and calculations: 1. What synergies, if any, can the Timken Company expect through its acquisition of Torrington? What are the risks? 2. What is the value of Torrington including the expected synergies of its acquisition by the Timken Company? 3. Is this valuation higher than the value of Torrington by itself? 4. How should the Timken Company seek to structure this acquisition? 5. What will the impacts of this deal be on their investment grade status? 6.
