Family Structure In Post-War Britian Essay
World War ǁ was a global military event, the most colossal conflict in history lasting from 1939 1945,
it involved most of the worlds nations including Great Britain. WWII had far reaching implications for
most of the world. The following essay will demonstrate the changes the UK family has undergone
since World War ǁ, the following essay will also throw light upon the changes in family types,
economic activities of women , power distribution, laws and sexuality with respect to disciplines of
sociology, economics, history and politics. Family used to be a single unit, consisting of a husband,
wife and children. This unit was widely thought as a group based on marriage and biological

. More importance was given to the wife rather than the husband, as a companion and producer of
children The family shows both continuity and changes which can be seen by looking at nuclear
families and single parent families respectively. Before 1940s, marriage was considered an important
part of society and thought to be a social institution essential for order. Divorce and single parent
families were considered dreadful, sex outside marriage was not acceptable, it was a moral offense.
The tempo of divorces was very low, but this social behavior soon ended in the post war era. By
1960s, this was no longer the case, as women started to work. They became much more independent,
laws were changed and increase in divorces and cohabitation rates had shown that marriage was not
compulsory in one s life. Family structure has been changed and there is about one and a quarter
million single parents. A family making up to 19% of all families with children, the number of single
parents has almost doubled since the early 1970s. According to census 2001 report and labor force
survey, the rate of married couple (marriages) has decreased over the last ten years, (accounting for 71
per cent of families in 2006, compared with 76 per cent in 1996). In the same period, the proportion of
cohabiting couple increased to 14 per cent from 9 per cent. The proportion of lone parent families
increased by less than one per cent over this period, but the

Evolution Of Bile Salts
What is bile?
Bile is a green colored liquid used for digestion that is created by the liver and stored by the
gallbladder. There are bile acids (bile salts). They are used to absorb fats and for digestion. The
absorption of fats happens in the small intestine. https://www.cancer.net/cancer types/bile duct cancer

How and why is this important to evolution?
Bile has bile salts, or in other words, bile acids in it. Previous studies of fish, whose bile should remain
the same no matter what they eat, have shown that there were changes in the bile salt synthetic
pathway. The original bile salt synthetic pathway was thin and very simple. Over many generations, it

this organization in order of importance are: the existing workload is too great for space making

9.) Some of the advantages of my solutions are: the bakery will be able to maintain current operations
with room for production expansion, moving to one larger location would eliminate the need for two
locations, the bakery can convert existing product in to new retail market that will result in higher
profit margins. Expansion will also allow the bakery to look consider and extension of their product
line.
10.) Some of the possible problems with the recommendations are: with expansion, will the bakery be
able to ensure the consistent quality that it has become known for? Will Amy be able to properly
schedule more staff and afford to properly train new staff members? Will the higher cost of a new
location make it difficult to be able to still purchase only quality ingredients? Will a higher cost still
allow Amy to be able to offer above average salaries keeping turnover rate low? Amy Scherber should
educate herself completely on the financial aspect of the expansion, set sales and financial projections
and make sure that the cost of the investment will be worth the return she will get on it Also she needs
to make sure that the baking techniques will stay in place, and need for trained personnel cannot
change. In doing so this will assure that she will not compromise the reputation she has made for
herself the reputation that has made expansion necessary.

Comparing Babylonian Story Of The Flood And Noah s Flood
The Great Floods Ways of writing and how stories are passed down have change throughout history;
many can be compared. The Tale of the Flood from the Epic of Gilgamesh and The Story of the Flood
from the Old Testament are two comparable stories. The impact both stories had on people all over the
world was tremendous. Both stories have had an influence on the way communities have changed
their oral traditions. Some people have debated if the two stories came from the same origin or they
are just similar in nature, not knowing which one could be true. These two tales changed how stories
were told throughout history. The Babylonian Story of the Flood and Noah s Flood have made a great
impact on people on nearly every continent. Both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some similarities in the story are, the extent of the floods, which were both global; means of the flood
were both caused by heavy rain, but in Noah s story, groundwater was also included. Because of the
floods, both characters were ordered to build a boat, and on each boat there were many compartments
inside, but it only had one door. The passengers on the boat were family members, a few other people,
and all species of animals. On the boat, each character would send birds to find land; Noah used a
raven and three doves while Utnapishtim used a raven, a dove, and a swallow. When the birds finally
didn t come back, both arks landing spots were Mountains. For Noah, it was Mt. Ararat and for
Utnapishtim, it was Mt. Nisir. Both men were blessed after the floods. As for their characters, they
were both righteous even though they complained about the work they had to do(COMPARISONS).
Despite the similarities, there are some differences in the stories. The causes of the flood in Noah s
story was a man s wickedness and as for the Tale of Gilgamesh, it was a man s sins. The sender in the
book of Genesis was Yahweh and in Gilgamesh it was an assembly of Gods. Means of the
announcement each man got was different too; for Noah, it came direct from God, and for
Utnapishtim, it came in a dream. The biggest difference with the two stories are the duration that each
flood was. In the Book of Genesis, it

Why use social media: We need to use social media in businesses today because almost everyone is
constantly connected through some sort of social media. Using social media is one of the fastest ways
to reach new and current consumers of any place of business. When using social media you can
upload pictures, videos, and unlimited access to updates and other possibilities for advertising.
2. Channel: The channels that we are using for our project is Facebook, the Kearney App, and Twitter.
The Flippin Sweet Eatery currently has Facebook and Twitter. Their Facebook page has 4,459 likes.
The Twitter page only has 255 followers. However they have not used the Kearney app yet.
3. Objective: For the Twitter page moving from 255 to at least 500 followers should not be very hard.
The Facebook page has quite a bit of followers, so 5,000 likes would be very attainable. The Kearney
app could be used to increase profits and consumer levels. The way to measure these goals is to set up
the plan with the restaurant, record current levels of goals. Then after 6 months coming back and

Also, when the nonviolent protest in Seattle in front of the World Trade Organization, became a riot in

Holistic Management and Complex Adaptive System Management...
Holistic Management Part One: British Airways and Further International Expansion of their Luxury
Brand Company Profile and Problem British Airways is one of the airline brands in the world and the
company has been operating (under different names and forms of ownership) since 1919 (British
Airways, 2012). In its earliest incarnation, the airline was an international carrier which began by
offering service from London to Paris. Operations changed over the years as the company was
nationalized in 1939 and then re privatized in the 1980 s, but the focus remained international flights
(British Airways, 2012). Due to the fact that the people of Great Britain were interested in some of the
most exotic locations in the world, British Airways has always tried to deliver routes that can take
passengers from Heathrow to any destination in the world. However, any of these routes are
unprofitable, and sense the government was no longer subsidizing the airline as heavily, new means of
finding and maintaining these routes had to be explored. In recent years, British Airways, and other
airlines, have realized that to maximize the number of destinations that they could service, they had to
work together. In some cases this meant merging with other airlines, but for many airlines it meant
that exclusive partnership agreements were reached that would allow customers to reach a destination
flying different airlines, but with a lower cost because of these types of agreements. British

Fighting Racism through Diversity Training Programs Essay
Imagine being hated by people because of skin color. Racism still exists. Racial discrimination is
always wrong and demeans a person. Everyone suffers when racial discrimination flourishes. Racism
is one of the world s major issues. Many people are not aware of how much racism still exists in the
schools, workforce, and everyday life. Racism has affected America on a personal level as well as a
global level. While racism still exists in America, it can be prevented or potentially eliminated through
the effective implementation of diversity training programs in schools and corporate institutions.
Why do some people hate the color of African American skin? All people bleed, cry, die, and have
feelings. Society has standards and expects ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What this California woman proves that racism still exists. Have we reason to expect, or dare we ask
of him whose ways are all equal, the continuance of his blessings to us, whilst our ways are so
unequal. (Nash 131)
People can also help prevent racism in our communities and schools. Suggest that people develop a
policy statement against all forms of racial discrimination. Object to racist jokes and insults because
there not funny. Nothing less than a racial reorganization of American elementary education is
necessary, therefore, if the schools are to begin to discharge their obligation to teach Negro
youngsters. (Silberman 277)
Experiencing racism is difficult especially on those who never been in that type of work environment.
In the workplace corporations have created test to determine if a person is racist which is very helpful
in prevent racial discrimination.
All in all, racism is something that should have not happen and it s sad that it did and still does.
Though it has gone through many stages, America progressed in trying to get better and show
everyone that they are equal. People can also find ways to remove racism completely. If the old
generations stop passing on racism to the new generations it would be a step to ending racism.

The Physics Of Roller Coasters
Ever since the first commercial roller coaster was built in the United States in 1884, roller coasters
have been seen in amusement parks all around the world. These rides, seen in all shapes and sizes, are
widely recognized for their thrills. At sudden twists and turns, riders experience large levels of
excitement. But what makes a roller coaster so exciting? The answer is physics. In the process of
designing roller coasters, engineers use concepts such as Newton s three laws of motion to make
loops, corkscrews, hills, and jumps possible. How these concepts are put to work can be seen in
examples of roller coasters throughout history.
The first forms of the roller coaster were seen in St. Petersburg, Russia as early as the 1600s. Piles of
ice were built about 70 feet high, and thrillseekers would slide down wooden, icy ramps built on these
Russian mountains . Catherine the Great, whose reign of Russia lasted from 1762 to 1796, boosted this
custom when she had wheels placed on her sleigh for summer use. Eventually, a French traveler
introduced this Russian tradition to France. The French learned to build a track with a groove down
the middle for use in a warmer climate than Russia. French thrillseekers would then fit a bench with
wheels on the groove and proceed to coast down the track sideways.
The major reason roller coasters are known for their thrills is because of physics. Physics is the
science of matter and energy and their interactions. In the early

The Pros And Cons Of Health Care
As the health care crisis in the United States continues to evolve there needs to be federal involvement
in reform for access to health care and the health care system. Reform must be initiated in the private
sector of the health care system as well as the federally ran portion of health care in the United States.
Citizens of the United States are fond of our particular representation and limited government
intervention in our lives. Furthermore, the federal government does not have constitutional authority
to initiate any type of health care reform. This issue of health care was regulated to the states by the
Tenth Amendment to the Constitution since there are no provisions in the Constitution regarding
health care. Another important issue is health care a right or a privilege.
Is health care a right or a privilege is a simple question, but difficult to answer. The question is not so
much an economic question, as many people claim, but a moral issue.1
The United States has world class medical facilities and some of the finest doctors in the world. The
United States also spends a higher proportion of its Gross Domestic Product on health care than any
other nation is the world, but only ranks 37 out of 191 countries.2 Uneven access to health care across
the United States is a contributing factor for the poor outcome of the health care program. Even with
the passage of the Affordable Health Care Act there are approximately 29 million residents of the

The Pros And Cons Of The United States Presidential System
Everything in life is not perfect whether it concerns humans or even the government. According to
Merriam Webster dictionary, government can be defined as, the group of people who control and make
decisions for a country, state, etc. Government can be organized in variety of ways, in order to control
a civilized society. For example, a government can either be structured as a presidential system or
even multi party parliamentary system. The United States government uses a presidential system in
order to govern their nation. However, Professor Christopher S. Allen believes that the United States
presidential system contains many flaws. Professor Allen s reasoning that the multi party
parliamentary system may help overcome the core institutional blockages of the American presidential
system is correct because it would result in an effective form of government where voting rates, costly
campaigning cost, confusion of roles and political accountability would mend the political structure in
United States leading to prosperity for the nation. Professor Allen believes ... Show more content on

The Benefits Of Going To A Community College
According to Jenkins and Fink, the writers for the Community College Research Center, an average of
38% of community colleges students transfer to a 4 year college and 42% of the students complete a
bachelor s degree within the next 6 years. Going to a community college is very beneficial and
affordable to children with high or low income. While I am taking Economics my teacher broke down
the concepts and benefits of going to a community college versus a university. For example, going to
Moraine Valley Community College is about $3,570 a year for their tuition, while the University of
Illinois is around $15,686 in tution. If you go to Moraine Valley Community College for 2 years you
will only be paying about $7,140 versus going to the University of Illinois for 2 years and paying
$31,372 Your saving $24,232 dollars if you go to a 2 year college versus going the whole 4 years. If
people are struggling financially this can be a financial advantage. Some junior colleges cost less than
two thousand dollars each semester for students who attend full time and it gives students some time
to prepare for a 4 year university if they plan on taking their education further. Going to a community
college helps students to set goals and aspects for their future career they want to pursue to transfer to
a university. So why doesn t Joliet West counselors promote the idea of going to a community college?

The concept that makes Panera successful is the fact that the company serves healthy and high quality
food at an affordable price. Increasing prices to facilitate higher quality service in an effort to promote
corporate aspirations will provide Panera with negative feedback from its customers (Wharton, 2010).
The happiness that Panera customers experience with the products they are receiving now can be
verified through Shaich s statement in the video that Panera has an incredibly high customer loyalty.
Alternative Solutions It seems that Panera s biggest solution to its problem is simply maintaining the
momentum they have established in the business market. Panera Bread Company has not
overextended itself and can be found on every street corner (Wharton, 2010). Following the Concept
Essence that Panera set for itself eighteen years ago may not be the most efficient way to self improve.
The requirements that are needed now in order to provide quality products and services may very well

ASPECTS OF ECONOMIC REFORMS IN THE NIGERIAN FOURTH REPUBLIC
ABSTRACT
In Nigeria, the return to democratic rule in 1999 led to a myriad of programmes and strategies that
were aimed at refocusing the face of the economy so as to resolve the difficulties which years of
military rule had placed on it. This reform was, conceptualized principally in the form of a medium

infrastructure development in key sectors; coherent and consistent trade policy; explicit sectoral
strategies for agriculture and SMEs; social charter for human development in education, health,
housing, employment and youth development; gender and geo political balance adjustment; safety
nets such as pension reform; etc (Nigerian Economic Society, 2004: 8 11). The key feature of the
programme was the promotion of the private sector as the engine for economic growth in terms of
wealth creation, employment generation and poverty reduction while government acts as a facilitator /
regulator, and the re orientation of people towards hard work / efficiency, transparency and
accountability and selfless service to the nation. NEEDS proposed a 5% 7% growth in GDP within 3

The Service Concept, Servqual Model And Understanding...
For this report I will be looking into conduction a critique piece examining the ideas, theories and
techniques specifically looking into the purpose application and limitation or the service concept,
Servqual model and understanding customer types.
The Service Concept
Application
The service concept can simply be broken down into three different stages which is firstly the
organising idea this is basically when the service is used or bought by the consumer. The next being
the service provided, this is the process in which affects the way their service provider ends up
interacting with their customer base. Last but not least is the service received, now the service
received is the end result of the customers overall experience in particular the emotions that they then
feel towards this posing the question if they were satisfied with the service provide and lastly was it
good value for the money that they ended up paying for it. (Johnston Clark 2008)
A brilliant example of the service concept would be to look at Alton towers concept which is very
good, the organising idea is quite a basic concept which involves having a great day out at the theme
park with over 100 rides for families and amusement park goers and thrill seekers leaving them with a
vast array of options to choose from.
The service provided is free car parking, helpful staff, huge amount off customer toilets, Clean Park,
and generally well run amusement park. With that being said this is what the customer is

The Argument For The Existence Of God
My paper scrutinizes numerous logical disputes for and alongside the presence of God. I shall argue
that there s no adequate evidence or inclusive arguments for the existence of God. It is grounded on
the views of certain great philosophers and scientists of all of mankind.
Generally speaking for myself, I would correspond to have faith that there is God . Regrettably, it s
awfully well defined that the being built up on insightful faith is no longer a suitable custom to
shadow. During the course, I expected to learn some type of proof with the intention of upholding a
course of the belief in a God implanted in me by my parents. Sadly, this wasn t the case. It could have
been fine if the ontological, theological, or cosmological argument could have related itself to the
experimental world with a God outside this world, but they are unable too. The ontological argument
failed because it was only a misleading piece of terms that couldn t prolong into actuality. The
teleological argument expressed unsupported inferences from similarities of experiential remark and
materialists supplied other possibilities that are reasonably legal. The cosmological argument failed as
well since it not once understandably argued the making of the universe. There are many amazing
individuals who ve consumed an immense sum of time in studying the Bible. Brilliant philosophers
like Plato, Paley, Socrates, Descartes, Aristotle, have made arguments whether god truly exists. We
must understand

John Maynard Keynes s Economic Theory And Policy After...
At the start of the Great Depression, people in all affected countries believed that a free market based
on supply and demand with no government control would deliver full employment. John Maynard
Keynes came up with a theory as a counterargument: that aggregate demand is the single most
powerful force in any economy. Keynes explains that free markets are not able to balance themselves
out enough to lead to the full employment everyone was waiting for. The 1930s gave rise to Keynes
ideas, especially after the publication of his revolutionary book The General Theory of Employment,
Interest, and Money in 1936. Keynesian economics dominated economic theory and policy after
World War II until the 1970s, when the issue of stagflation introduced itself to a disappointingly
unprepared Keynes. (CITE JAHAN P.54)
Keynes and His Theory
John Maynard Keynes was a well known British economist, and is credited with the establishment of
modern macroeconomics. One must remember that the concept of macroeconomics already existed,
but Keynes addition includes a systematic approach to aggregate economic phenomena. (CITE
SNOWDON/VANE P 13) While The General Theory of Employment, Interest, and Money might be
his most famous work, he also had two other important works released before it. The first was The
Economic Consequences of the Peace in 1919, arguing that the Versailles Treaty would lead to another
war in Europe. The second, released just six years before General Theory, was A

Hillary Rodham Biography
Biography:
Born on October 26th 1947 in Chicago, Hillary Diane Rodham already got to know the rivalry
between Republicans and Democrats early in her life. As the daughter of a small business owner who
was a Republican and a mother who had a tough childhood and had to start working at the age of 14
and was therefore a Democrat, Hillary experienced an upbringing with both political points of views.
Receiving a successful education, she was able to attend Wellesley College, studying political science,
where she ended up being the student leader and first ever student speaker. After graduating she
transferred to Yale Law School where she first started dating Bill Clinton. In 1979 to 1992 she was
First Lady of Arkansas along her husband Bill whom she had married and in 1975 to 2000 she ...

As First Lady of Arkansas she raised educational standards and improved the health care access in her
state. This was also her goal as First Lady of the United States but the Clinton health care plan of
1993, which is also known as Hillarycare, was declined. She also held her famous speech at the U.N
Fourth World Conference in 1995 where she stated that women s rights are human rights and spoke
for education, health care, economic independence, legal rights and political participation of women
all around the world. After her husbands second term, she gained a seat at the US Senate for New York
where she among other things pushed President Bush to finance the rebuild of the city after 9/11 and
took care of the health issues. In 2008 she ran for President of the United States where she was
supported by Hispanics, non college graduates, working class white and older voters. In the end she
lost to Barack Obama who she later supported herself which lead to Obama asking her to be his

The Epic Deception
The Epic Deception This September will mark the 13 year anniversary of the modern day Pearl
Harbor also known as 9/11. In these thirteen years our world has changed immensely. Our government
went from being the proponents of democracy to seldom acting like tyrannical warlords. The Patriot
Act suspended due process for anyone deemed an enemy combatant . Defense contractors were given
the biggest contract in American history. As a nation, we went to two different wars and almost
destroyed the world s economy. All of this occurred to ensure our safety as citizens of this once great
nation. But are we truly safer from terrorist attacks today than we were in 2001? There was a poll that
appeared around the five year anniversary of 9/11 that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the report was very lengthy and comprehensive there were still a lot of facts that were
embellished. Other facts such as the fate of W. Trade Tower 7 were completely omitted from the
report. There was no thorough investigation into why the buildings collapsed when they were
reinforced to withstand the impact of a 747. Why would the people charged with investigating what
occurred on this dreadful day not tell the whole story? To answer this question we need to understand
who stood to benefit from an attack on American soil. Was it Al Qaeda or the Taliban whose homes
were bombed and who lost control of their very lucrative poppy fields? Or was it the defense
contractors who stood to make billions if not trillions from the war that would come? As John Farmer,
senior counsel to the 9/11 Commission and now dean of Rutgers Law School, said that at the
beginning of the investigation, the commission discovered that what had occurred that morning that is,
what government and military officials had told Congress, the Commission, the media, and the public
about who knew what when was almost entirely, and inexplicably, untrue.....At some level of the
government, at some point in time ... there was a decision not to tell the truth about what happened
(Ridgeway). There is no need to look for crazy conspiracy theories because the conspiracy is right in
front of our eyes, and the people responsible are

readers heads. The barber pictures his actions, and this helps him come to the conclusion about killing
the captain. He makes sure to put everything into consideration so he will make no errors. The barber
goes in for the last shave. His Fate hangs on the edge of this razor blade. I can turn my wrist slightly,
put a bit more pressure on the blade, let it sink in. The skin will yield like silk, like rubber, like the
strop. There is nothing more tender than a man s skin, and the blood is always there, ready to burst
forth. A razor like this cannot fail. It is the best one I have. But I don t want to be a murderer. No, sir.
You [are] c[oming] in to be shaved. And I do my work honorably. I don t want to stain my hands with
blood. Just with lather, and nothing else. You are an executioner; I am only a barber. Each one to his
job. That s it. Each one to his job (346). This passage is filled with imagery, and one simile which
helps to discover the theme. The imagery is used to create a picture of what the scene would like like,
if he were to kill the Captain. The similes help to create a more detailed picture of the scene. He

The Complex Variety and Uses of the Senecio Genus
Senecio is a huge genus in the family Asteracea, which in turn is one of the biggest families: meaning
Senecio is one of the most largest genus in the world with up to 3000 species found. (Voss, 1985)
Since then, phylogeny has separated many members of the Senecio genus and reclassified them as
Packera. However, Packera spp. are still complex, so much so that Robert Kowal discovered a new
species on Isle Royal in Michigan in 2011, and aptly named it Packera insulae regalis. According to
Kowal, The populations that are currently grouped under the name Packera paupercula do represent a
motley lot that should be split into a handful of species. (personal communication, 8/1/2013) The plant
P. paupercula, also known as Life Root or Balsam Ragwort, is a dwarf member of Alvar habitats
reaching heights of two feet. The entire plant can be incredibly variable: basal leaves can range from
medium to long petioled, and obovate to oblong or oblanceolate in shape. The margins are usually
toothed with serrations that vary from lobed to pinnatified, and leaf apexes that are either blunt or
tipped. Cauline leaves are individual to many, smaller, deeply serrated and partially to fully clasping
the stem. P. paupercula is known for its pubescence, especially at the leaf axils. The golden
inflorescence are capitate and more or less flat topped. As summer comes into full swing, the petals
can be seen falling off one by one until poof a pappus and achene are all that remains. The

Financial system catered only to the needs of planned development in a mixed economy framework.
Financial markets were segmented underdeveloped with lack of instruments. There was existence of
complex structure of interest rates arising from social economic concerns. The regulation of lending
rates, led to regulation of deposit rates to keep cost of funds to banks at reasonable levels, so that the
spread between cost of funds and return on funds is maintained. The lack of recognition of the
importance of transparency, accountability and prudential norms in the operations of the banking
system led also to a rising burden of non performing assets. These lacunae in the policies system made
India lag behind in growth with its counterparts. For a long period of around 40 years, India s growth
rate remained average less than 4 percent per annum, while other less developing countries achieved a

Essay on Dual-Earner Family
In dual earner families, the father s willingness to share responsibilities is a crucial factor. If he is
uninvolved, the mother will carry a double load, at home, and work, which leads to fatigue, distress,

face are both parents work on none stop schedule. Deb and Ron interview gave insight as to how busy
they are; they also talked about how their typical day goes. For example in Ron s interview, he

From the interview, Deb and Ron did not share if they had even attempted to address their schedule
and the lack of family time they give the children. Challenges that may present itself within this case
of Deb and Ron being a dual earner family, is time management, quality time for each other, as well as
quality time for their children, Deb and Ron need to look at a way to achieve work and life balance. In
identifying, the first possible key issue is time management it is something that stands out for Deb and
Ron. If they apply family time management skills, they can improve their quality of family time. One
key component in sharing quality time together is being clam and focused on family activities.
Secondly, Ron and Deb may find it helpful to do family goal setting; in order for this to work, they
have to both be willing to put in the time. However, before Ron and Deb can be successful at this they
must make decisions about their priorities, such as what are their needs and the needs of different
family members? For example, Charlie may, need more play time with dad, and one on one cuddle
time with mom. Thirdly, they could use a family calendar; this tool will help with family scheduling.
The next issues Ron and Deb will need to address are making sure they are giving their children
quality time. This time is important in their social development stages; children are learning to form
and value relationships with others. Intimate and caring relationships are

More importance was given to the wife rather than the husband, as a companion and producer of children The family shows both continuity and changes which can be seen by looking at nuclear families and single parent families respectively. Before 1940s, marriage was considered an important part of society and thought to be a social institution essential for order. Divorce and single parent families were considered dreadful, sex outside marriage was not acceptable, it was a moral offense. The tempo of divorces was very low, but this social behavior soon ended in the post war era. By 1960s, this was no longer the case, as women started to work. They became much more independent, laws were changed and increase in divorces and cohabitation rates had shown that marriage was not compulsory in one s life. Family structure has been changed and there is about one and a quarter million single parents. Holistic Management Part One: British Airways and Further International Expansion of their Luxury Brand Company Profile and Problem British Airways is one of the airline brands in the world and the company has been operating (under different names and forms of ownership) since 1919 (British Airways, 2012). In its earliest incarnation, the airline was an international carrier which began by offering service from London to Paris. Operations changed over the years as the company was nationalized in 1939 and then re privatized in the 1980 s, but the focus remained international flights (British Airways, 2012). Due to the fact that the people of Great Britain were interested in some of the most exotic locations in the world, British Airways has always tried to deliver routes that can take passengers from Heathrow to any destination in the world. However, any of these routes are unprofitable, and sense the government was no longer subsidizing the airline as heavily, new means of finding and maintaining these routes had to be explored. In recent years, British Airways, and other airlines, have realized that to maximize the number of destinations that they could service, they had to work together. In some cases this meant merging with other airlines, but for many airlines it meant that exclusive partnership agreements were reached that would allow customers to reach a destination flying different airlines, but with a lower cost because of these types of agreements. • 12. The Physics Of Roller Coasters Ever since the first commercial roller coaster was built in the United States in 1884, roller coasters have been seen in amusement parks all around the world. These rides, seen in all shapes and sizes, are widely recognized for their thrills. At sudden twists and turns, riders experience large levels of excitement. But what makes a roller coaster so exciting? The answer is physics. In the process of designing roller coasters, engineers use concepts such as Newton s three laws of motion to make loops, corkscrews, hills, and jumps possible. How these concepts are put to work can be seen in examples of roller coasters throughout history. The first forms of the roller coaster were seen in St. Petersburg, Russia as early as the 1600s. Piles of ice were built about 70 feet high, and thrillseekers would slide down wooden, icy ramps built on these Russian mountains . Catherine the Great, whose reign of Russia lasted from 1762 to 1796, boosted this custom when she had wheels placed on her sleigh for summer use. Eventually, a French traveler introduced this Russian tradition to France. The French learned to build a track with a groove down the middle for use in a warmer climate than Russia. French thrillseekers would then fit a bench with wheels on the groove and proceed to coast down the track sideways. The major reason roller coasters are known for their thrills is because of physics. The Pros And Cons Of Health Care As the health care crisis in the United States continues to evolve there needs to be federal involvement in reform for access to health care and the health care system. Reform must be initiated in the private sector of the health care system as well as the federally ran portion of health care in the United States. Citizens of the United States are fond of our particular representation and limited government intervention in our lives. Furthermore, the federal government does not have constitutional authority to initiate any type of health care reform. This issue of health care was regulated to the states by the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution since there are no provisions in the Constitution regarding health care. Another important issue is health care a right or a privilege. Is health care a right or a privilege is a simple question, but difficult to answer. The question is not so much an economic question, as many people claim, but a moral issue.1 The United States has world class medical facilities and some of the finest doctors in the world. The United States also spends a higher proportion of its Gross Domestic Product on health care than any other nation is the world, but only ranks 37 out of 191 countries.2 Uneven access to health care across the United States is a contributing factor for the poor outcome of the health care program. • 14. The Pros And Cons Of The United States Presidential System Everything in life is not perfect whether it concerns humans or even the government. According to Merriam Webster dictionary, government can be defined as, the group of people who control and make decisions for a country, state, etc. Government can be organized in variety of ways, in order to control a civilized society. For example, a government can either be structured as a presidential system or even multi party parliamentary system. The United States government uses a presidential system in order to govern their nation. However, Professor Christopher S. Allen believes that the United States presidential system contains many flaws. Professor Allen s reasoning that the multi party parliamentary system may help overcome the core institutional blockages of the American presidential system is correct because it would result in an effective form of government where voting rates, costly campaigning cost, confusion of roles and political accountability would mend the political structure in United States leading to prosperity for the nation. The Benefits Of Going To A Community College According to Jenkins and Fink, the writers for the Community College Research Center, an average of 38% of community colleges students transfer to a 4 year college and 42% of the students complete a bachelor s degree within the next 6 years. Going to a community college is very beneficial and affordable to children with high or low income. While I am taking Economics my teacher broke down the concepts and benefits of going to a community college versus a university. For example, going to Moraine Valley Community College is about $3,570 a year for their tuition, while the University of Illinois is around $15,686 in tution. If you go to Moraine Valley Community College for 2 years you will only be paying about $7,140 versus going to the University of Illinois for 2 years and paying $31,372 Your saving $24,232 dollars if you go to a 2 year college versus going the whole 4 years. If people are struggling financially this can be a financial advantage. Some junior colleges cost less than two thousand dollars each semester for students who attend full time and it gives students some time to prepare for a 4 year university if they plan on taking their education further. Going to a community college helps students to set goals and aspects for their future career they want to pursue to transfer to a university. For this report I will be looking into conduction a critique piece examining the ideas, theories and techniques specifically looking into the purpose application and limitation or the service concept, Servqual model and understanding customer types. The Service Concept Application The service concept can simply be broken down into three different stages which is firstly the organising idea this is basically when the service is used or bought by the consumer. The next being the service provided, this is the process in which affects the way their service provider ends up interacting with their customer base. Last but not least is the service received, now the service received is the end result of the customers overall experience in particular the emotions that they then feel towards this posing the question if they were satisfied with the service provide and lastly was it good value for the money that they ended up paying for it. (Johnston Clark 2008) A brilliant example of the service concept would be to look at Alton towers concept which is very good, the organising idea is quite a basic concept which involves having a great day out at the theme park with over 100 rides for families and amusement park goers and thrill seekers leaving them with a vast array of options to choose from. Regrettably, it s awfully well defined that the being built up on insightful faith is no longer a suitable custom to shadow. It could have been fine if the ontological, theological, or cosmological argument could have related itself to the experimental world with a God outside this world, but they are unable too. The ontological argument failed because it was only a misleading piece of terms that couldn t prolong into actuality. • 22. John Maynard Keynes s Economic Theory And Policy After... At the start of the Great Depression, people in all affected countries believed that a free market based on supply and demand with no government control would deliver full employment. John Maynard Keynes came up with a theory as a counterargument: that aggregate demand is the single most powerful force in any economy. Keynes explains that free markets are not able to balance themselves out enough to lead to the full employment everyone was waiting for. The 1930s gave rise to Keynes ideas, especially after the publication of his revolutionary book The General Theory of Employment, Interest, and Money in 1936. Keynesian economics dominated economic theory and policy after World War II until the 1970s, when the issue of stagflation introduced itself to a disappointingly unprepared Keynes. (CITE JAHAN P.54) Keynes and His Theory John Maynard Keynes was a well known British economist, and is credited with the establishment of modern macroeconomics. One must remember that the concept of macroeconomics already existed, but Keynes addition includes a systematic approach to aggregate economic phenomena. (CITE SNOWDON/VANE P 13) While The General Theory of Employment, Interest, and Money might be his most famous work, he also had two other important works released before it.
