Evaluation Of Alfred Hitchcock, Dial
Evaluation of Alfred Hitchcock, Dial M for Murder.
Validity as an auteur can be found belief that true auteurs set the standard and change the way we view
film. More so, an auteur has the incredible responsibility of changing the way we look at the world
and that is their greatest goal.
Alfred Hitchcock is a director and artist in his own right as he needs little introduction to most
moviegoers. His work as a creative entrepreneur during his time in the budding age of film has created
a series of classics that continue to define a standard in crime, thriller and suspense cinema. As many
early critics of film were skeptic of their authenticity as an art form, Hitchcock proceeded to build
upon the groundwork set before him by exploring methods with which lured the audience into
emotional involvement in film. Over time, his mastered technique often reflected in his plot
developments as he proceeded to sway the interest, attention and opinion of his audience to his liking.
Such manipulations would cause the audience to bend the rules of conventional morality. Such
technique had been previously unparalleled and proceeds to be the standard of good film making
today. Even in his early films such as The Man Who Knew Too Much, Hitchcock s ability to evoke
and conflict emotional attachments in his audience was quite apparent as it was not uncommon for a
quintessential bad guy in his film to transition into a protagonist simply based on plot and character
development as you cannot

Differences Of The Italian Renaissance And The Northern...
talian Renaissance and the Northern Renaissance
Differences Between The Two
The Renaissance was a period of great cultural and technological changes that swept Europe from the
end of the 13th century. It was integral in developing Europe into a powerhouse. Although, each part
of Europe was subjected to different changes, there were two primary renaissances, which were most
notable. They were the Italian and the Northern renaissance. Both of these renaissances had a
profound impact on Europe. But they also had some typical differences among them and each was
unique in its own way.
Italian Renaissance
The Italian Renaissance was a period of great cultural changes and achievement throughout Europe. It
spanned from the end of the 13th century up to about the 1600 s. It marked the transition of Europe
from the medieval period to the Early Modern Europe. The term renaissance is a modern term that was
coined by historians many years after the Renaissance had already ended.
Although the origins of the Italian Renaissance can be traced to many different locations, it is
important to note that different aspects of Italian culture and society remained largely medieval during
the time of the Renaissance; the Renaissance did not come into full swing until the end of the century.
The word Renaissance means rebirth , and the era is best known for the renewed interest in the culture
of classical antiquity (Greece and Rome) after the period that Renaissance humanists labeled the Dark
Ages. These changes, while significant, were concentrated in the elite, and for the vast majority of the
population life was little changed from the Middle Ages.
The Italian Renaissance is best known for its cultural achievements credited to writers, poets, artists,
sculptors, and Renaissance Men (or women!). Figures such as Petrarch (The Father of Humanism ),
Leonardo da Vinci (The ideal Renaissance Man known for the Mona Lisa, the Vitruvian Man, and
many more creations!), Raphael (known for his painting, The School of Athens.), Dante Alleghri
(known for his work, The Divine Comedy.), and
many more are significant characters of this era and movement that contribute significantly.

Dangerous Liaisons
Even today there is a very defined tension between men and women. This tension has been around for
centuries and is evident in the novel Dangerous Liaisons especially in the interactions between the
main two characters, Valmont and Merteuil. In many ways, these two have opposing moral with the
rest of society. These are greed, conquest, and corruption. These oppose the society because the
society values religion and decency, all throughout the story Valmont and Merteuil go against those
values with their actions. To begin, Valmont very much values conquest and corruption. This is
evident in just about everything he does. Conquest is our destiny: we must follow it, (Laclos11) As
you can see from this quote he thinks it s his duty to conquer. ... Show more content on

Both view themselves as the alpha predator. It s almost like two roosters fighting in a pen to determine
which one is the true alpha. As Merteuil says she is better because she has accomplished everything
Valmont has done and more, but she had to work for it more since she was a girl. This is where the
battle between genders manifests. Even to this day it is argued that women have a harder time
accomplishing thing than men. This was very true in the late 1700 s since it was expected for women
to get married off to a rich husband and just spend her days doing nothing. But Merteuil didn t except
this and bettered herself so she didn t have to face this fate. Valmont is just so vain that he refuses
Merteuil s claims and believes he is better this is the root of the

Cambodia has a growth rate of 3% per year and GDP per capita 735 (2010).

Tourism comprises about 17.5 percent of Cambodia GDP in 2009, and 13.7 percent of total
employment during this same time span(2009). Cambodia per capita income is rapidly growing due to
their agriculture and major exports of rice, fish, garments and rubber (2010). The social development
of Cambodia is also on the rise. Under the Khmer Rouge regime; more than 2 million people were
shot, strangled, beheaded, or starved to death in the 20th century. Many of the skilled and educated
people of Cambodia were killed during this time and Cambodia is still attempting to recover both
from an economic, educational, and social standpoint.
Education Education in Cambodia is in a dismal array. Modern education in Cambodia has progressed
gradually. The first high school in Cambodia did not open until the late 1930 s (2001). Manual labor
and political correctness was emphasized in the educational system over knowledge by the Khmer.
The Khmer Rouge claimed that rice fields were books, and hoes were pencils (2001). A deliberate

Iran-Iraq War Research Paper
The findings of the Ottoman Empire date all the way back to 1299 under Osman I, the founder and
leader of the Ottoman Turks in northwest Anatolia. By 1900, the Ottoman Empire was a large
multinational, multilingual empire, consisting of Southeast Europe, Western Asia, Northern Africa and
even the oil fields of Southern Iraq. Although being under Turkish rule, this large population of this
geographic area was full of different nationalities containing multiple ethnic and religious groups,
many of which disliked each other. Due to this aversion of one another, these groups identified
themselves to their own distinct nationality rather than being part of the Ottoman Empire. The result

Iran has been the center of the Shiite branch of Islam, while Iraq, where Shiites are in a slight
majority, has been led by political elites from the Sunni branch of Islam. On September 22, 1980, Iraq
invaded Iran by air and land. Iraq maintains that Iran started the war on September 4 with artillery
attacks on Iraqi towns. The aim of Iraq s attack, according to President Saddam Hussein, was to boost
claims for Iraqi sovereignty over the Shatt al Arab, and for a shift of the boundary to the Iranian side.
Hussein also demanded border adjustments in the north and the return to Arab sovereignty of three
islands at the mouth of the Gulf that Iran occupied in 1971. Experts on the fighting say Hussein began
the war to topple the Khomeini regime and to make Iraq the dominant Gulf power. The Stockholm
International Peace Research Institute confirms that 95 per cent of military supplies to him came from
France, the Soviet Union, Eastern Europe and China. Saddam fought the Iran Iraq war with Soviet

they have had some sort of past connection and Beatrice needs some reassurance from Benedick about
their relationship. Eve Best and Catherine Tate play Beatrice and Charles Edwards and David Tennant
play Benedick in William Shakespeare s play Much Ado About Nothing, a well known comedy about
love, drama, and gossip. Beatrice is a friendly woman who has a quick wit. She gives the impression
of not wanting to get married throughout the play. Benedick is a man who has a good time wooing

Beatrice is a bit skeptical about what Benedick said, so he tells her he will do anything for her.
Beatrice requests him to kill his best friend, Claudio. Initially, Benedick rejects this request, but
eventually with some convincing he changes his mind and agrees to challenge Claudio in a dual. This
scene is important for their relationship because they are finally confessing their love for each other. It
also shows that Benedick is willing to do anything for Beatrice. He realizes that he might kill his best
friend for Beatrice or that he will get killed. He is willing to put his life on the line for her.
Tate and Tennant play Beatrice and Benedick in this play. Tate plays this scene in a very dramatic and
comical way. Tennant plays this scene in a serious, unemotional way. Benedick says, I do love nothing
in the world so well as you: is not that strange? He speaks louder to confess his love to Beatrice.
Beatrice is shocked and starts breathing heavy. She stares at him. This reveals that Tate is very
dramatic. She is very over the top. In situations, like this, that are supposed to be serious, she responds
in a more comical way. She does this because of her background in comedy. She is one of England s
most popular comedians. Tennant hardly uses any emotions when he tells Tate that he loves her. It is
as if he really does not feel the way that he says he does. As strange as the thing I know not. It were as

Preparation For A Marching Band
The sport/activity that I have chosen to talk about is marching band. Technically, this would be my
second year doing it but I am looking forward to doing marching band and jazz band later in high
school. So, I have chosen this activity to talk about because it s actually really fun and entertaining.
Many people would watch you, maybe, play one of their favorite songs while walking down the
streets of their hometown. Yea, it could get dark in that town, but it s better to be doing it, than to not.
There are many things to talk about with this sport like preparing, positioning, and errors. To be honest
there are a lot of errors in marching band, and it can get very detailed and confusing.
Preparation for Accomplishment of Activity Preparation for marching band can be fairly simple. First,
you obviously need to get your instrument and start putting it together once in a quiet, non distracting
place. If your instrument is a woodwind, it would do you a whole lot better if you were to wet your
reed. If you have a brass instrument, it would help your ametuar to do some buzzing excersises.
Percussion would be able to manage their 5 stroke roll better and their paradiddles better if they do left
to right and right to left drills. After your instrument is put together, practice your songs. If you ve got
that down, practice marching. Starting with your right foot, and keeping a steady beat. In marching
you have to walk with a steady pace as the rest of your group and/or band. Whilst

The importance of designing a service that responds to the needs of the children and young people.
The principle of designing services around children and young people is to be able to meet all their
needs. Every child is unique , it is important that all practitioners understand this. Firstly you need to
establish what their care needs are so you are able to meet them in the correct way. This can be done
by communicating with parents and other services connected with the child. If the service is meeting
the individuals needs the parents/ careers should have no reason to be unhappy with the service
provided and the child should remain in the setting. The children must be encouraged to meet their full

The factors looked at such as the profit margin, ROE, and ROA do paint the picture that the current
state of the business is good. Revenues have increased on average 10% each year from 2002 to 2005.
However during this time cash balances have decreased. Accounts receivable and inventory have
increased in the same time span. Cash has decreased from $120.1 to $9.4, a decline of 92% over the
four year time span. In the same period Accounts Receivable went from $90.6 in 2002 to $146.4 in

This can be done by generating more revenues or by reducing operating costs. Increasing revenues
seems complicated in an industry that decreased revenues in 2004 by 1.8% and considering that HH
has been aggressively growing for the last years (12.5% in 2004 and 15.5% in 2005). One strategy that
can be pursued at this point is increase prices to improve the margins and decrease the number of units
sold. Although this seems like a good idea the move implies initially an investment in additional
inventory which at this moment and with the given business conditions doesn t seem viable.
Reduction in operating costs looks somehow complicated as well because it is stated in the case that
the business is running efficiently.
Another alternative that the Brown s have to manage HH current situation is to reduce the receivables
days. This seems doable since HH is way above the industry average, 48 days compared to 21.8 for
the industry in 2004. They can also reduce the inventory days in an effort to recover some capital; this
also seems like something that HH should be able to do as they have higher inventory days than the
benchmark, 436.5 versus 386.3 in 2004. The return on assets has been growing on the past years and
is high compared to the benchmark, this is saying that HH is being more efficient every year in the use
of assets; this also says that they might require higher capital expenditures going forward.

The Impacts Of The 18th And 18th Amendments
The Eighteenth and Nineteenth Amendments The Eighteenth Amendment states that, one year after
the states ratified the article, the making, selling, and importing or exporting of alcohol is illegal
unless for medicinal or religious reasons. Congress can pass any laws it finds necessary to uphold the
Eighteenth Amendment. If ¾ of the states did not ratify the article within seven years, then the article
would not take effect. (18th Amendment)
One impact of the Eighteenth Amendment was the end, in theory, of the sale and consumption of
alcohol. America had just returned from World War I when Prohibition was started. The men had
gotten addicted to morphine and heroine and could no longer buy those drugs so they bought the
cheapest thing they could find alcohol. This started a wave of drunkenness across the country and the
women were not happy. The women had taken men s place in the workforce while they were gone
and, when the men came back, they lost all their jobs to the men. But, the men were not working.
Instead, they were getting drunk all day, trying to forget what they saw at war. This angered women
greatly. Because the women had gained power from working the men s jobs during the war, the
women used their power to promote Prohibition across the country.
Another impact of the Eighteenth Amendment is the rise of organized crime. It is the law of supply
and demand. When the supply of a product, alcohol, goes down, the demand for it goes up. Crime

Pdqs 1-14 How Do Restriction Enzymes Work
Ch 20 PDQs 1 14
How do restriction enzymes work?
After recognizing the restriction sites, the restriction enzymes cut off the DNA strands at these points,
leaving sticky ends on the original DNA fragment. The restriction enzymes can also travel to other
cells to cut off DNA sequences, the sequences that can match the bases of the original sequence. The
sticky end will find other sticky end to form a new recombined DNA sequence, obeying the law of
base pairing.
Explain the significance of sticky ends and why they were given that name.
To form recombinant DNA, sticky ends are required. With each sticky end having only one strand, it
can form hydrogen bonds with the bases of the complementary sequence. The sticky ends will also

How does gel electrophoresis work? What properties of the DNA does it utilize?
Using the electric current, scientists pass the DNA through gel, and as smaller molecules get through
gel quicker than those of bigger sizes, DNA molecules get separated according the sizes of the
molecules. We utilize the property that large molecules move slower, and DNA is slightly negatively
charged(due to phosphate groups), so it will move to the positive pole of the gel.
Where will the smallest fragments of DNA be found on a gel after it runs? Where will the largest
fragments be found? How is the size of a particular fragment determined?
Smallest will be found near the positive pole of the gel, as DNA is moving towards the positive pole,
and small ones move faster. The large fragments will be found near upper half towards the positive
pole, because the bigger size determines its slower speed moving towards the pole. Restriction
fragment analysis, which specifies the DNA sequences, determines the size of the DNA

participants behavior, recording their license plate numbers, so he can find their addresses, going to

with the social scientists statement because this project about homosexuals secret daily lives, without
the consent and notification of his intentions was deceitful. If I found out that I was a subject of
Humphreys project, I would have felt violated and betrayed because he disguised himself and

Weaknesses Of An Organization
Weakness of an Organization

An organization is a group of people who work together to achieve a common goal. In order for a
group to be cohesive and for each member to work as a team in achieving a common goal, a structure
must be defined, thus the organizational structure. Organizational structure defines how tasks are

Supplay Chain Management
http://www.qsrweb.com/article/100992/Supply chain technology ensures Subway quality Chain
Leader: Subway franchisees have found a way to ensure a safe and consistent supply chain by using
an Internet based supply management system. Subway s Independent Purchasing Cooperative, which
is owned by the chain s North American franchisees, has been using supply chain software since the
end of 2001 and rolled out the food quality component, called Qualitynet, in 2004. Miami based IPC
manages the supply chain from manufacturers through the distribution centers and into the 24,000
stores. Its responsibilities include negotiating pricing, maintaining relationships and managing quality.

By adding lightweight items such as straws and napkins, it was able to cube out the loads and bring an
end to the shipping of air. The third source of innovation for IPC and Subway lay in the production
and shipping of bread. Rapid growth in the number of stores was putting a strain on the old system,
with bakeries running at 110 percent capacity in the summer months. IPC knew it had to add bread
plants; the only question was where. Working with C.H. Robinson, the company analyzed the location
of its current plants and DCs, devising multiple what if scenarios to come up with the most efficient
network and lowest landed cost. One new bread plant in Tolleson, Ariz., operated by Southwest
Baking, deployed state of the art, fully automated systems to allow for increased production and
greater flexibility in volumes. Other facilities were built in Austin, Tex., Columbia, S.C. and Centralia,
Wash. The new network, with plants closer to the source, allowed Subway s vendors to double the
efficiency of bread line capacity while improving product quality, Clabby says. IPC and C.H.
Robinson reevaluate the bread sourcing plan each year, taking into account changes in manufacturing
costs, bakery capacity, volume commitments, market demand and cost per case. IPC works closely
with Subway s marketing and product development managers to support new demand. The $5 foot
long promotion, for example, led to a 20 percent increase in sales. That caused a 48 percent

War causes Xenophobia. War is an armed conflict between more than two parties. Xenophobia is a
behavior that promotes fear or hatred against different cultures. Causal Mechanism War divides the
countries involved into two sides: us versus them. This division allows prejudice to permeate both
sides, creating racial slurs and stereotypes that define opposing sides. For example, characterizing
opponents as backwards or barbaric creates the idea that the opponents population is under oppressive
rule and require liberation. These slurs and stereotypes spill over to the population, who might be
influenced by propaganda to favor war. By constructing this narrative, it allows individuals from both
sides to conjure ideas against their enemies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hostilities against other nations occur for many reasons including colonialism, differences in culture
and politics, bad policies, proximity, and immigration. That being said, it is evident hostilities and
xenophobia have existed before war. Colonialism has helped shape many of the concepts of race in the
modern world. The domination of one race over another race plants an idea of racial superiority for
both the colonizer and the colonized. The skewed power dynamic that emerges from colonialism
effectively creates ideas like xenophobia. Moreover, the colonizers by imposing certain rules like
establishing which faiths are practiced or imposing slavery foster hostilities tow the colonized. The
arrival of African slaves demonstrates how the colonizers viewed slaves as barbaric and less human,
which allowed to them argue slavery provided discipline and humanity. The hatred against the
different cultures of Africa, which colonizers attempted to change with religion, proves how the
xenophobia occurring in colonial America did not emerge from war. These discriminatory statutes
institutionalized discrimination, creating xenophobia against those were different and did not resemble

Hunger In Third World Essay
Ed Asner once said, There are genuinely sufficient resources in the world to ensure that no one,
nowhere, at no time should go hungry . Hunger can be defined as a shortage of food; famine but
across the world it has more serious and genuine connotations. Hunger is painful, degrading, and
seemingly hopeless for all within its depths. Each hour more than three hundred children die of hunger
in third world countries. An epidemic is the rapid spread or increase in the occurrence of something .
The epidemic of hunger is one that costs the world seventy seven billon dollars in national income lost
each year.
Hunger is the result of soaring food prices, unreliable weather conditions, financial crisis, and political
unrest. In third world countries over one third of families are pulling their children out of school so
that they can provide for their family and hunger needs. No child should have to sacrifice their
education so that their family has access to food. In the world, malnutrition and hunger could be
prevented with ten billion dollars per year. The act of supporting those in need would prevent two
million deaths and sixty million cases of malnutrition each year.
The third world country of Malawi, located in the southeast portion of Africa is one of the countries
requiring the most financial and hunger support. Malawi has the second fastest growing population in
the world with a current population of 17,964,697. With a high birth rate, death rate, and woman

The Social Perception Of A Hollywood Movie Star Gone Dark
I want to live fast and die young. Many celebrities live by these words and follow them as an
unspoken desire for personal satisfaction and gratification. While many have risen to fame and glory,
only to lose their spurious fortunes amongst the squalor of human indecency, one man will always
drunkenly pratfall into the social perception of a Hollywood movie star gone dark; Chris Farley.
Christopher Crosby Farley, definitely did not have a normal life, but it was not necessarily a bad one.
He had a catholic upbringing with an upper middle class family from Wisconsin, a decent education,
an active, if not healthy social life, a job which generated millions of dollars for him by doing what he
loves, and every time he walked into a room the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His father owned an oil company, and his mother stayed at home to take care of the home and
children. When Farley was in school he never really felt like he fit in, he was the the awkward fat kid
in class who would do anything to get a laugh out of someone. He assumed that people were going to
laugh at him anyways so he might as well make it big and make it funny. In one instance, he got up as
a teacher was finishing a lecture and mooned the entire class, exposing his rear and causing him to
almost get kicked out of school, but the authorities thought the incident so innocently funny that he
was let off the hook. He loved to play sports in and out of school, while he may not have been any
good, he still showed ferocious devotion and an exaggerated intensity when in the game. He was
always huge for his age, but he was surprisingly athletic in comparison, this showed off and on the
stage when he performed his own stunts, or clumsily fell onto a table, as he regularly did on movies
and television. He grew into his teen years a sweet charitable fool who partied harder than he made
people laugh, which was in no way insignificant. He studied theater and communications at Marquette
University, and graduated in 1986. After he graduated he went on to Second City Theatre in Chicago,
the place where one of his biggest Idols, John Belushi, got his start. In that theater, the legend known
as chris farley took his first step into stardom, and immediately

Lab Report On Iron Stoichiometry
Copper/Iron Stoichiometry
Grace Timler
AB1
October 3, 2017 Abstract
The techniques used in this lab are quantitative transfer and vacuum filtration with the reaction of
8.001 grams of copper (II) sulfate, CuSO4, and 2.0153 grams of iron powder, Fe. The goal of this
experiment was to determine the product of copper (II) sulfate with iron. The reaction occurred and
2.4469 grams of solid copper, Cu, precipitated; therefore, showing that the limiting reagent was iron.
The iron oxidation state was iron (II) because iron (II) sulfate was formed during the reaction. The
percent yield of the reaction was 106.7%.

The solid was washed over vacuum filtration with a 15.0mL DI water rinse. Then the solid was
washed again by four 15.0mL rinses of acetone. The copper was dried over the vacuum filtration for
exactly 10 minutes, so there was no excess water and the copper did not oxidize. Then the mass of the
crucible was taken again with the product included using the same analytic balance as before, which
came out to be 32.9490 grams. The amount of solid copper collected was 2.4469 grams, calculated by
subtracting the initial weight of the crucible from the final weight.
Results
The empty sintered glass crucible had a mass of 30.5021 grams (table 1). Then the reaction occurred
and the copper precipitate was collected the crucible plus product had a mass of 32.9490 grams.
Therefore, the mass of the precipitated copper was 2.4469 grams. The moles of CuSO4 and Fe used
and the moles of Cu precipitated are shown in Table 2.
Table 1. Mass of CuSO4, Fe and Crucible on Analytical Balance

Lenin s Contribution to Marxism up to 1905 and the Consequences
Karl Marx was a German philosopher who wrote the Communist Manifesto, which encouraged
workers to unite and seize power by revolution. His views became known as Marxism and influenced
the thinking of socialists throughout Europe in the late nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
Marx believed that history was evolving in a series of stages towards a perfect state Communism.
These stages started with Feudalism with the aristocrats controlling politics. Next would come
Capitalism with the bourgeoisie in control of politics. Finally the perfect state would arrive

The idea of the paper was to establish it as the leading underground revolutionary paper that would
push forward the revolutionary movement.
In 1902 he published a pamphlet called What is to be done? This pamphlet contained his radical ideas
towards the nature of a revolutionary party. In this pamphlet, there were three main points that Lenin
made in relation to the role of a revolutionary party.
An organisation of revolutionaries must contain primarily and chiefly people whose occupation is
revolutionary activity… This organisation must necessarily be not very broad, and as secret as
possible.
This idea was stating that he wanted the party to consist of activists. He wanted people to go out and
do something for the party rather than sit around and do nothing to help the cause of the party. This
idea was later to contribute towards the split of the RSDWP.
Lenin also stated;
The one serious organisational principle for workers in our movement must be the strictest secrecy,
strictest choice of members, training of professional revolutionaries.
Lenin wanted the party to be professional and didn t want the country to know that there was a
revolutionary party being constructed that was to revolt against the current government.
The third major point that Lenin made in his pamphlet was;
We must break completely with the tradition of a purely workers or

Men s National Soccer Team Failure Essay
The United States of America Men s Soccer team failed to qualify for the World Cup.For the first time
since 1986 the USA did not qualify for the World Cup due to the Team s failure. The 2017 Team has
not only let down the previous men s team, but the fans as well. Their horrifying performance is a sign
that they did not deserve to qualify anyway.
As stated by Brian Phillips, for the New York Times, this loss shows the lack of progression of the
program. For years United States soccer fans have clung on to the idea that the Men s National Team
was in a positive progression stage. That the Team was on the brink of finding their groove. This lost
to Trinidad and Tobago, the worst team in the CONCACAF, has revealed the unwanted truth. The
Men s National Soccer Team is a joke.
Landon Donovan, an American soccer star, said that The lack of urgency to really understand what
was it stake was really disheartening for me and candidly it was really hard to watch. Donovan is right
the lack of urgency from the team was alarming. I mean they only had to score three goals against the
worst team in their hexagon. They only scored one for the USA and one for Trinidad and Tobago.
While, Bruce Arena, the former head coach, stated Nothing has to change. This mentality might be the
reason he was let go, because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

popular professional sports are football and baseball, not soccer. I mean the MLS is where european

Jeannette Walls Cooking
When I read Jeannette Walls literature regarding her cooking at such a young age, I was appalled. She
was the age of three and cooking with open flames. She could feel the heat rising from the boiling
water which engulfed her hot dogs. While she was cooking, she could smell the boiling water that
surrounded the hot dogs flaring up. She sensed the abnormally hot air in her nose as she breathed in
the warmness. Personally, I can t imagine being only three years old and cooking. First of all, why is
she cooking while her parents aren t watching? I could hear Mom in the next room singing while she
worked on one of her paintings (Walls 5). Her mother is paying no attention to her three year old
daughter cooking. It s absurd to think about it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She must have also been in charge of walking the dog down the streets alone, or maybe in charge of
lighting bonfires. The responsibilities of this three year old are unheard of compared to today s
standards for raising a child. I would never, under any circumstances, let my three year old daughter
use a stove. A big reason for this is evident when the author says, I was still standing on the chair,
swatting at the fire with the fork I had been using to stir the hot dogs (Walls 5). First of all, she was
not taught the proper way to fight a fire. Instead of the stop drop and roll method we were all taught,
she swats at the fire with a fork in panic. By swatting at the fire, she hoped the fork would damage the
entity that surrounded her and put an end to the pain. She was feeling the moisture from her skin being
drawn out from her. She smelt her dress being burned right off her as well as the fire on her bare skin
bubbling up and filling the room. In her head, she could hear the screams she wanted to say
immediately, but did not have the words ready. At the time, she could taste her saliva building up
tremendously as the fire retained its fearsome

Lori Marino Dolphins
This summer, hundreds of dolphins beached themselves along the coast of New England. The
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has tentatively pegged the cause of this
particular dolphin die off as a viral outbreak. Yet even in normal years, dozens of dolphins around the
country become stranded in shallow water or beach themselves on shorelines. Are these often sickened
or injured animals simply disoriented, or are they making a conscious decision to leave their tightly
knit social groups and die on the beaches? In other words, do dolphins commit suicide?
Quite possibly.
From what we know of dolphin intelligence, they certainly have the capability of choosing to die.
According to Lori Marino, a researcher who studies the brains and behaviors of animals, we know that

The sophisticated echolocation system that dolphins use to hunt also serves as a constant form of
communication, transferring personal information at a greater rate than do our sluggish human voices.
A dolphin s limbic system, the part of the brain that controls emotions, is also highly developed.
Marino describes dolphins as hyper emotional; when they are hunted by fisherman, simple panic can
send dolphins into cardiac or neurological shock.
A dolphin s mix of intelligence, strong social bonds, and hyper emotionality can backfire in the form
of destructive behavior. Dolphins in captivity, even those born into it, are deprived of social
interaction with their own kind, resulting in high levels of stress. Captive dolphins may ram their
heads into the sides of their tank or aggressively lash out at other dolphins.
When a stressed dolphin jumps out of its tank, is it making a decision to ends its life? When a sick
dolphin beaches itself, is it a selfless act made for the good of its social group? It s hard to say. A test
has not yet been developed to show whether dolphins understand the permanence of death or their

section and the green is the feedback section. To understand this system more thoroughly, we will
need to look at the feedforward and the feedback system individually. 2.2.2 Feedforward ANC System

Figure 2 is the general feedforward ANC block diagram with Least Mean Square (LMS) adaptive
filter. The adaptive filter assists to filter the filter coefficient according to an adaptive algorithm.
However, standard LMS algorithm tends to cause instability issue [13], since the error signal is not
properly aligned in time in time with the reference signal due to the presence of the secondary path
transfer function S(z). To solve the problem, it is necessary to find a different LMS filter or a different
ANC system. There are several ANC filter algorithms and systems can be chosen as the solution.
1.recursive filtered least mean square (FxRLS); 2. fast transversal filter (FxFTF); 3. Lattice ANC
systems; 4. frequency domain ANC systems; 4. Filtered u recursive LMS filter based on IIR; 5.

Nurture Strongly Influences Early Human Development

Nurture strongly influences early human development
Introduction
While nature produces healthy, well formed infants, nurture helps in developing them in the early
stages of their lives through practice and experience. It means that the early development of a human
is effective and faster by nurture than what comes out of nature. All children go through the same
sequences of growth and development in the same order right from their mother s womb, be it the
development of parts of the body and the development of organs, motor development after birth,
development of speech, etc.. Nature leads to ordinary development of a fetus into a human but it
cannot develop an infant into a healthy minded or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
can affect normal maturation of a fetus. So, it can be clearly noted from above that a fetus can be
completely organized and well developed only when given quality nurturing.
Influence of genetics and environment on the motor development of a child after birth
All children go through the same sequence of motor behaviors in the same order but they go through
the sequence at different rates. It is because those children who are not given attention or taken good
of (nurtured) are seen to develop in a slower rate than those who are given quality nurture. Even if a
child is born physically challenged, he/she can be trained or given physiotherapy treatment to improve
him/her to at least take care of their own selves. This clearly illustrates that practice and experience
makes a child to learn things faster and in a much better way than those children who are left
unnoticed.
Genetic and environmental influence on a child s development of speech
All human infants learn to speak in the course of normal development, but not until they have attained
a certain level of neurological development. It is applicable for both, children who are given as well as
children who are given quality nurture. As we already discussed on the motor development of a child
after birth, even here, in the case of development of speech of a child, the fact is

History Paper By Alex Prindle
History Paper by Alex Prindle
The definition of civilization or whether a culture is considered civilized or not has been argued
throughout the course of history. Groups such as the Mongols, the ethnic groups surrounding the
Roman Empire, and just about every group of people not part of a large, unified, strong empire in
ancient history especially, has been thought of by their superior empire peoples as barbaric and
uncivilized. Through the comparison of Tacitus s Germania, and Sima Qian s Account of the Xiongnu,
it has been established that Tacitus paints a the Germans as a simple, and barbaric uncivilized group of
people, whereas Sima Qian looks at the Xingu as barbarians, but respects them as a power a bit more.
This is in regards to how children are trained, military tactics used, traditional family life, and the
availability and use of resources of these certain ethnic groups. Although there are some similarities
between Tacitus and Sima Qian s portrayal of different ethnic groups, there were also some distinct
differences between the ways both authors portrayed their enemy neighbors. Specifically, Sima Qian
does not try to show his bias of superiority of the Han Chinese Empire as much as Tacitus s more
blatant belief that the Roman Empire is far superior to the Germanic tribes in the north. Stronger
groups tend to look down on the weaker groups over the course of history, and while I don t find any
civilization mentioned in these readings to be necessarily

  • 2. Evaluation Of Alfred Hitchcock, Dial Evaluation of Alfred Hitchcock, Dial M for Murder. Validity as an auteur can be found belief that true auteurs set the standard and change the way we view film. More so, an auteur has the incredible responsibility of changing the way we look at the world and that is their greatest goal. Alfred Hitchcock is a director and artist in his own right as he needs little introduction to most moviegoers. His work as a creative entrepreneur during his time in the budding age of film has created a series of classics that continue to define a standard in crime, thriller and suspense cinema. As many early critics of film were skeptic of their authenticity as an art form, Hitchcock proceeded to build upon the groundwork set before him by exploring methods with which lured the audience into emotional involvement in film. Over time, his mastered technique often reflected in his plot developments as he proceeded to sway the interest, attention and opinion of his audience to his liking. Such manipulations would cause the audience to bend the rules of conventional morality. Such technique had been previously unparalleled and proceeds to be the standard of good film making today. Even in his early films such as The Man Who Knew Too Much, Hitchcock s ability to evoke and conflict emotional attachments in his audience was quite apparent as it was not uncommon for a quintessential bad guy in his film to transition into a protagonist simply based on plot and character development as you cannot ... • 3. Differences Of The Italian Renaissance And The Northern... talian Renaissance and the Northern Renaissance Differences Between The Two The Renaissance was a period of great cultural and technological changes that swept Europe from the end of the 13th century. It was integral in developing Europe into a powerhouse. Although, each part of Europe was subjected to different changes, there were two primary renaissances, which were most notable. They were the Italian and the Northern renaissance. Both of these renaissances had a profound impact on Europe. But they also had some typical differences among them and each was unique in its own way. Italian Renaissance The Italian Renaissance was a period of great cultural changes and achievement throughout Europe. It spanned from the end of the 13th century up to about the 1600 s. It marked the transition of Europe from the medieval period to the Early Modern Europe. The term renaissance is a modern term that was coined by historians many years after the Renaissance had already ended. Although the origins of the Italian Renaissance can be traced to many different locations, it is important to note that different aspects of Italian culture and society remained largely medieval during the time of the Renaissance; the Renaissance did not come into full swing until the end of the century. The word Renaissance means rebirth , and the era is best known for the renewed interest in the culture of classical antiquity (Greece and Rome) after the period that Renaissance humanists labeled the Dark Ages. These changes, while significant, were concentrated in the elite, and for the vast majority of the population life was little changed from the Middle Ages. The Italian Renaissance is best known for its cultural achievements credited to writers, poets, artists, sculptors, and Renaissance Men (or women!). Figures such as Petrarch (The Father of Humanism ), Leonardo da Vinci (The ideal Renaissance Man known for the Mona Lisa, the Vitruvian Man, and many more creations!), Raphael (known for his painting, The School of Athens.), Dante Alleghri (known for his work, The Divine Comedy.), and many more are significant characters of this era and movement that contribute significantly. This tension has been around for centuries and is evident in the novel Dangerous Liaisons especially in the interactions between the main two characters, Valmont and Merteuil. In many ways, these two have opposing moral with the rest of society. These are greed, conquest, and corruption. These oppose the society because the society values religion and decency, all throughout the story Valmont and Merteuil go against those values with their actions. To begin, Valmont very much values conquest and corruption. This is evident in just about everything he does. This is where the battle between genders manifests. Even to this day it is argued that women have a harder time accomplishing thing than men. This was very true in the late 1700 s since it was expected for women to get married off to a rich husband and just spend her days doing nothing. Yea, it could get dark in that town, but it s better to be doing it, than to not. There are many things to talk about with this sport like preparing, positioning, and errors. One strategy that can be pursued at this point is increase prices to improve the margins and decrease the number of units sold. Although this seems like a good idea the move implies initially an investment in additional inventory which at this moment and with the given business conditions doesn t seem viable. Reduction in operating costs looks somehow complicated as well because it is stated in the case that the business is running efficiently. Another alternative that the Brown s have to manage HH current situation is to reduce the receivables days. This seems doable since HH is way above the industry average, 48 days compared to 21.8 for the industry in 2004. They can also reduce the inventory days in an effort to recover some capital; this also seems like something that HH should be able to do as they have higher inventory days than the benchmark, 436.5 versus 386.3 in 2004. The Impacts Of The 18th And 18th Amendments The Eighteenth and Nineteenth Amendments The Eighteenth Amendment states that, one year after the states ratified the article, the making, selling, and importing or exporting of alcohol is illegal unless for medicinal or religious reasons. Congress can pass any laws it finds necessary to uphold the Eighteenth Amendment. If ¾ of the states did not ratify the article within seven years, then the article would not take effect. (18th Amendment) One impact of the Eighteenth Amendment was the end, in theory, of the sale and consumption of alcohol. America had just returned from World War I when Prohibition was started. The men had gotten addicted to morphine and heroine and could no longer buy those drugs so they bought the cheapest thing they could find alcohol. This started a wave of drunkenness across the country and the women were not happy. The women had taken men s place in the workforce while they were gone and, when the men came back, they lost all their jobs to the men. But, the men were not working. Instead, they were getting drunk all day, trying to forget what they saw at war. This angered women greatly. Because the women had gained power from working the men s jobs during the war, the women used their power to promote Prohibition across the country. Another impact of the Eighteenth Amendment is the rise of organized crime. It is the law of supply and demand. When the supply of a product, alcohol, goes down, the demand for it goes up. Where will the smallest fragments of DNA be found on a gel after it runs? Where will the largest fragments be found? How is the size of a particular fragment determined? I am in agreement with the social scientists statement because this project about homosexuals secret daily lives, without the consent and notification of his intentions was deceitful. If I found out that I was a subject of Humphreys project, I would have felt violated and betrayed because he disguised himself and interviewed me as if he was a part of the same lifestyle, and he never told me about the research and the book. • 21. Weaknesses Of An Organization Weakness of an Organization By: Edgar Joel Aboy, BBM MBA, 2nd Trimester, 2015 2016 Keyword: Weakness of an Organization, Functional Structure, Divisional Structure, Matrix Structure An organization is a group of people who work together to achieve a common goal. In order for a group to be cohesive and for each member to work as a team in achieving a common goal, a structure must be defined, thus the organizational structure. Organizational structure defines how tasks are divided, grouped and coordinated in an organization. Every organization has a structure that clarifies the roles and responsibilities each member must perform. Subway s Independent Purchasing Cooperative, which is owned by the chain s North American franchisees, has been using supply chain software since the end of 2001 and rolled out the food quality component, called Qualitynet, in 2004. By adding lightweight items such as straws and napkins, it was able to cube out the loads and bring an end to the shipping of air. The third source of innovation for IPC and Subway lay in the production and shipping of bread. Rapid growth in the number of stores was putting a strain on the old system, with bakeries running at 110 percent capacity in the summer months. IPC knew it had to add bread plants; the only question was where. Working with C.H. Robinson, the company analyzed the location of its current plants and DCs, devising multiple what if scenarios to come up with the most efficient network and lowest landed cost. One new bread plant in Tolleson, Ariz., operated by Southwest Baking, deployed state of the art, fully automated systems to allow for increased production and greater flexibility in volumes. Other facilities were built in Austin, Tex., Columbia, S.C. and Centralia, Wash. The new network, with plants closer to the source, allowed Subway s vendors to double the efficiency of bread line capacity while improving product quality, Clabby says. IPC and C.H. Robinson reevaluate the bread sourcing plan each year, taking into account changes in manufacturing costs, bakery capacity, volume commitments, market demand and cost per case. IPC works closely with Subway s marketing and product development managers to support new demand. The $5 foot long promotion, for example, led to a 20 percent increase in sales. Causal Mechanism War divides the countries involved into two sides: us versus them. This division allows prejudice to permeate both sides, creating racial slurs and stereotypes that define opposing sides. For example, characterizing opponents as backwards or barbaric creates the idea that the opponents population is under oppressive rule and require liberation. These slurs and stereotypes spill over to the population, who might be influenced by propaganda to favor war. Hostilities against other nations occur for many reasons including colonialism, differences in culture and politics, bad policies, proximity, and immigration. That being said, it is evident hostilities and xenophobia have existed before war. Colonialism has helped shape many of the concepts of race in the modern world. The domination of one race over another race plants an idea of racial superiority for both the colonizer and the colonized. The skewed power dynamic that emerges from colonialism effectively creates ideas like xenophobia. Moreover, the colonizers by imposing certain rules like establishing which faiths are practiced or imposing slavery foster hostilities tow the colonized. The arrival of African slaves demonstrates how the colonizers viewed slaves as barbaric and less human, which allowed to them argue slavery provided discipline and humanity. Hunger can be defined as a shortage of food; famine but across the world it has more serious and genuine connotations. Hunger is painful, degrading, and seemingly hopeless for all within its depths. Each hour more than three hundred children die of hunger in third world countries. An epidemic is the rapid spread or increase in the occurrence of something . The epidemic of hunger is one that costs the world seventy seven billon dollars in national income lost each year. Hunger is the result of soaring food prices, unreliable weather conditions, financial crisis, and political unrest. In third world countries over one third of families are pulling their children out of school so that they can provide for their family and hunger needs. No child should have to sacrifice their education so that their family has access to food. In the world, malnutrition and hunger could be prevented with ten billion dollars per year. The act of supporting those in need would prevent two million deaths and sixty million cases of malnutrition each year. The third world country of Malawi, located in the southeast portion of Africa is one of the countries requiring the most financial and hunger support. An organisation of revolutionaries must contain primarily and chiefly people whose occupation is revolutionary activity… This organisation must necessarily be not very broad, and as secret as possible. This idea was stating that he wanted the party to consist of activists. He wanted people to go out and do something for the party rather than sit around and do nothing to help the cause of the party. This idea was later to contribute towards the split of the RSDWP. Lenin also stated; The one serious organisational principle for workers in our movement must be the strictest secrecy, strictest choice of members, training of professional revolutionaries. Lenin wanted the party to be professional and didn t want the country to know that there was a revolutionary party being constructed that was to revolt against the current government. She sensed the abnormally hot air in her nose as she breathed in the warmness. Personally, I can t imagine being only three years old and cooking. A big reason for this is evident when the author says, I was still standing on the chair, swatting at the fire with the fork I had been using to stir the hot dogs (Walls 5). First of all, she was not taught the proper way to fight a fire. Instead of the stop drop and roll method we were all taught, she swats at the fire with a fork in panic. By swatting at the fire, she hoped the fork would damage the entity that surrounded her and put an end to the pain. She was feeling the moisture from her skin being drawn out from her. She smelt her dress being burned right off her as well as the fire on her bare skin bubbling up and filling the room. Are these often sickened or injured animals simply disoriented, or are they making a conscious decision to leave their tightly knit social groups and die on the beaches? Nurture Strongly Influences Early Human Development Roshan Akthar Jahir Hussain 200821027 Nurture strongly influences early human development Introduction While nature produces healthy, well formed infants, nurture helps in developing them in the early stages of their lives through practice and experience. It means that the early development of a human is effective and faster by nurture than what comes out of nature. All children go through the same sequences of growth and development in the same order right from their mother s womb, be it the development of parts of the body and the development of organs, motor development after birth, development of speech, etc.. Influence of genetics and environment on the motor development of a child after birth All children go through the same sequence of motor behaviors in the same order but they go through the sequence at different rates. It is because those children who are not given attention or taken good of (nurtured) are seen to develop in a slower rate than those who are given quality nurture. Even if a child is born physically challenged, he/she can be trained or given physiotherapy treatment to improve him/her to at least take care of their own selves. This clearly illustrates that practice and experience makes a child to learn things faster and in a much better way than those children who are left unnoticed. • 34. History Paper By Alex Prindle History Paper by Alex Prindle The definition of civilization or whether a culture is considered civilized or not has been argued throughout the course of history. Groups such as the Mongols, the ethnic groups surrounding the Roman Empire, and just about every group of people not part of a large, unified, strong empire in ancient history especially, has been thought of by their superior empire peoples as barbaric and uncivilized. Through the comparison of Tacitus s Germania, and Sima Qian s Account of the Xiongnu, it has been established that Tacitus paints a the Germans as a simple, and barbaric uncivilized group of people, whereas Sima Qian looks at the Xingu as barbarians, but respects them as a power a bit more. This is in regards to how children are trained, military tactics used, traditional family life, and the availability and use of resources of these certain ethnic groups. Although there are some similarities between Tacitus and Sima Qian s portrayal of different ethnic groups, there were also some distinct differences between the ways both authors portrayed their enemy neighbors. Specifically, Sima Qian does not try to show his bias of superiority of the Han Chinese Empire as much as Tacitus s more blatant belief that the Roman Empire is far superior to the Germanic tribes in the north. Stronger groups tend to look down on the weaker groups over the course of history, and while I don t find any civilization mentioned in these readings to be necessarily ...
