Causes And Treatment Of Pulmonary Edema
Abstract
Pulmonary edema can be divided into two categories, cardiogenic and non cardiogenic. Both of these
can be life threatening if not treated on time. One of the main characteristics of this disease is the
increased fluid in the interstitial spaces and alveoli in the lungs. Cardiogenic pulmonary edema as the
name implies, is cause by heart failure. The most common type of heart failure seen with cardiogenic
pulmonary edema is left ventricular failure also known as congestive heart failure (CHF). On the other
hand, non cardiogenic pulmonary edema can be caused by many factors including high altitudes,
drugs, inhaled toxins, etc. When a patient has pulmonary edema, some common signs and symptoms
include excessive shortness of breath, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pulmonary edema is characterized as a restrictive pulmonary disorder. People with pulmonary edema
cannot fully fill their lungs with air due to stiffness of the lungs.
Definition
Pulmonary edema happens as a result from excessive movement of fluid from the vascular system to
the extravascular system and air spaces of the lungs.1,3 5,7,11 It is generally divided into two main
pathogenetic types which are hydrostatic (commonly cardiogenic) and permeability edema, also
termed normal pressure noncardiogenic.1 3,5,7 8,11Cardiogenic pulmonary edema is caused by
increased pressures in the heart. This condition occurs when the left ventricle is not able get out
enough of the blood it receives from the lungs (congestive heart failure).1,3,5 7 However,
Noncardiogenic, as the name implies, is not caused by the heart. In this condition, fluid may leak from
the capillaries in your lungs air sacs because the capillaries become more penetrable or leaky, even
without the increased pressure that is built from your heart.1,3 5,7 8,11
Etiology Heart failure can be caused by many different types of problems in the heart.1 3,5,7 8,11 We
all know that the heart itself is responsible for the movement of fluids in the body. And that if the heart
fails to function properly, the whole body can be affected in many ways. Heart failure may affect the
right side or the left side of the heart.1 3,7 8,11 Hydrostatic pulmonary edema is known as cardiogenic

Civil Rights Constructive Discharge
MEMO
Civil Rights Act 1964 (Constructive Discharge)
Schedule Shift beginning on Jan 1, 2013 (Work on a Religious Holy Day)
Date: March 10, 2013
Dear Mr. CEO,
Pursuant to the claim made against Toy Company, LLC ( TCL ) regarding constructive discharge and
working on a religious holy day, of which it is a legal concept put into practice in 1964 under the Civil
Rights Act ( CRA ). I have located a few items of interest that will allow us to respond with
understanding and basic knowledge.
Understanding Constructive Discharge:
Constructive Discharge occurs when a company has created intolerable conditions for which an
employee is to work. Unbearable conditions include but are not limited to discrimination or
harassment, and negative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ed.2d 305 (1986), which stated more than loss of pay is required to demonstrate discipline or
discharge,
There has been a current case that happened in the Supreme Court, Burlington Northern, based off of
the retaliatory stating that the expansion of the level of retaliatory conduct needed may not be a lasting
approach. Therefore, if it isn t going to remain a standard within the court rulings and looks to change,
we may have the burden of proof to demonstrate that we have complied with every option imaginable.
This could be difficult in the future to demonstrate what actionable items we have done. It seems far
easier to state what we haven t done than to state what we have done.
To avoid this happening in the future we can do a few things to protect us. Many preventative actions
such as rotating shifts, allow for a fulltime substitute worker group that is skilled in all areas (this
could consist of 3 4 people who cover shifts when needed), and/or coordinate work schedules to
benefit those who would like more hours to accept openings that are offered first on suspected
religious holy days, these actions could help protect us from future claims. This could allow the
workers the opportunity to have options for someone to cover their shifts.
On these bases, it would seem wise and very prudent to proceed with carefulness in this area, and use
extreme caution prior to refuting or rescinding an accommodation regarding religious holy day
practice as per the

The Role Of Journalism And Its Impact On Journalism
Historically, professional journalism has been built around two fundamentals: visual and textual.
While numbers have played a role in journalism as well, journalists have constantly downplayed their
importance in making up the professional skillset, which leads to a difficulty in presenting numerical
data responsibly and accurately (Maier 2002). A noteworthy is the subfield of computer assisted
reporting, which focuses on examining quantitative data through a journalistic lens. Over the past
several years, this data driven form of journalism has become more important within the profession as
it has joined with the increasingly ever present digitization of personal and public information. As
more information continues to become increasingly zeroes and ones at the most basic level, journalism
has increasingly been involved in gathering, analyzing, and computing that information as well as
quantitative data.
This surge of quantitatively focused journalism has deep democratic roots with numerous forms tied
to the public service tradition of investigative journalism (Cox 2000) and open government advocacy
(Parasie and Dagiral 2012). It has great potential to increase journalism s ability to make democratic
institutions more understandable and receptive to the public, but even within this subfield of
journalism, views of the public and the journalistic process are different. While the computer assisted
reporting of the 1990s was usually a single, unified concept for both scholars

The Relationship Between Class And Our Understanding Of Crime
Discussion about the relationship between class and our understanding of crime has been an ongoing
debate between sociologists for centuries. Some claim that although, in the past, there was a
relationship between the two, that in our modern society, the idea of class has diminished and is in
fact, dead. Therefore, how could it be related to criminal activity and our understanding of it?
However, on the other hand many claim that the concept of class is very much still alive, and is
actually one of the main components in sociology s study of crime among those are perhaps two of the
most renowned sociologists; Karl Marx and Max Weber, whose theories combined lay the
fundamental basis of sociological analysis s of class and social ... Show more content on

His explanation of social class was that it was a group of people who stand in a common relationship
to the means of production the means by which they gain a livelihood. (Giddons, 2013). Using Marx s
concept, it can be argued that in every society, past and present, there has been some form of class
system; from feudal time when there were the aristocrats and the serfs to more modern society
composed of the bourgeoisie and the proletariat those who own and control the means of production,
and those who sell their labour for a wage. Marx claimed that those in the bourgeois exploited the
proletariat by using their power to take advantage of the systems they could influence in order to
please themselves. The bourgeois capitalist ideology was introduced into society through the
superstructure, and was extended and drilled into the brains of proletariat through education,
employment, politics and the judiciary system to mention a few. Marx therefore argued that there is a
subtlety to how the bourgeoisie exploit the proletariat. Furthermore, he recognised that in modern
society wealth is being created on a massive scale, yet somehow, the working class still remain
considerably poorer than the bourgeoisie he used the

When business do not understand the mind of their target audience they do not generate the type of
responses they initially hoped. The psychological reasons why people comfort themselves when
buying products they don t need is often overlooked. Many American feel they need things but in
reality they just want them. Consumers will go into debt to buy an item they want to personally have.
The joy of seeing it in the house or having friends see them with it is worth it all for them. So many
consumers feel a great sense of comfort in consumer goods that are popular or in demand because they
feel like they can do or have things that others cannot.
Social Processes on Marketing Behavior
Most consumers reasons for buying goods are because friends or family may want them or have them
already. Consumers have said that the reason for buying products is because of someone they know
really wants the product or they want to be the first of the group to have it. This provides a great sense
of gratitude and joy for the consumer group to know that they were the first to have the product. This
brings out the competitive trait in the consumer. Many will go out of their way to get things others
want just so that they can be envied. This makes them feel like a leader or trend setter to the group.
The approval of products from friends, family or people in general plays a strong role in

Laramie Project Review Essay example
A Death That Revealed the World s Concealed View on Homosexuality The Laramie Project is a play
written by Moises Kaufman and the members of Tectonic Theater Project. The play is based on the
interviews of the citizens of Laramie about what s happening in Laramie and their responses to the
murder of Matthew. In addition to the various themes suggested by the play, the author wanted to
present the varying perspectives toward homosexuality in the Laramie community at the time of
Matthew s death. The author also wanted to explore how these perspectives may have changed as the
result of Matthew s death. Even though the citizens of Laramie persisted that hate is not a value they
practice, they still showed contrasting and puzzled views ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not all citizens of Laramie conveyed a negative view towards the LGBT community. Marge Murray,
together with some of the citizens, gave a notion of live and let live towards homosexuals. Marge
explains,
As far as the gay issue, I don t give a damn on one way or the other as long as they don t bother me.
And even if they did, I d just say no thank you. And that s the Attitude of most of the Laramie
population. They might poke one if they were in a bar situation, you know, they had been drinking,
they might actually smack one in the mouth, but they d just walk away. Most of em, they would just
say, I don t swing that way and whistle on about their business. Laramie is live and let live. (17)
Marge talked about how the citizens of Laramie practice a philosophy that life goes on. There are
times that they are bothered, and they exchange words and even physically hurt one another; but that s
it, they won t hold a grudge on one another. After such argument or fight, they ll just move on and live
another day. Marge pointed out that they practice the same view toward view about homosexuality;
they neither reject nor accept homosexual people.
There are also some citizens of Laramie that showed acceptance towards homosexuals. Father Roger
Schmit was one of them; he showed compassion and conveyed such resistance to violence

Depression is defined as an alteration in mood that is expressed by feelings of sadness, despair, or
pessimism (Neeb s, 397). There are seven types of depressive disorders which are major depressive
disorder, dysthymic disorder, postpartum depression, major depressive disorder with seasonal pattern,
substance induced depressive disorder, depressive disorder associated with another medical condition,
and premenstrual dysphoric disorder. Each type of depression has it s own criteria for a patient to be

In our country currently, corruption is a topic highly discussed among the people of America. People
believe that corruption costed them, the most recent Presidential election. Some say corruption in our
government caused them to go out make their voices heard by voting for someone who preached of
cleaning up Washington, D.C.. But across the Atlantic Ocean there are problems of their own evolving
rapidly, more specifically in Italy. Is the reason Italy s so corrupt, do to the fact wealthy people will do

The only thing about corruption that has evolved since the first idea of it was conceived is the fact it s
dipped its toe into fraud, embezzlement, theft, bribes, and kickbacks. Silvio used his social enterprise
to help him rise to the highest political achievement you can have in Italy, along the way he made
horrific mistakes that eventual would be the end of him. The Mafia started as basically a bodyguard
for your land before Italy was even established as a country. Since then they hit a point of decline but
eventually rose to unimaginable strength. Would weave its way in between the cracks of the Italian
government. So when i ask the question of, is the reason Italy s so corrupt, do to the fact wealthy
people will do to all their best to effect outcome? I don t believe it s just these things contributing to
the demise of the Italian government, but the mindset, the moral of the Italian people. They know that
half their government is not for the people but or themselves. And they don t do anything about it. In
America the authenticity of our government came under fire, so the people of America decided to

Madness In Wide Sargasso Sea
Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys shows the delicate balance between madness and sanity. Throughout
both novels there is a lot of unusual behavior to say the least from Antoinette. There are many factors
that can have a detrimental effect on one s mental stability which is shown blatantly through the
relationship between Antoinette and Bertha. This shows the relationship and balance between
inherited factors and environmental influences such as other people and events that are happening
around the person.
Though physically Antoinette and Bertha are the same person the distinction between them becomes
apparent when looked at from a psychological point of view. Bertha is the psychological manifestation
of Antoinette s madness. The way Rhys presents ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of this is when Mr. Rochester cheated on her and slept with Amélie. Antoinette went into
a depression like state and Bertha is the one who attacked and bit Mr. Rochester. This is another thing
that leads to the idea that Antoinette has DID as in cases such as this the stronger personality (Bertha)
takes over in an attempt to protect and shield the weaker one(s) (Antoinette). In a situation where
Antoinette is in danger or deemed as needing to be protected Bertha takes over and attempts to do so
by whatever means necessary.
Antoinette s madness is a very important part of the novel as it leads her to the life that Brontë created
for her in Jane Eyre. Antoinette has suffered so much throughout her life that Bertha becomes a way
for her to disconnect from everything and disappear for a while. Considering the life she lived as a
child and how she was treated not just by the other people on the island but her own mother it is easy
to see why this other personality has surfaced. This shows just how much of an impact other people

Julius Caesar Omens Essay
By: Phillip Gigliotti Omens Are Not To Be Ignored A sign of the future of good or evil is considered
to be an omen. Plenty of omens are displayed throughout the Tragedy of Julius Caesar, written by
Shakespeare. If these omens are ignored negativity is often the only outcome for the character as
demonstrated in the play. Some of these omens include Caesar ignoring Calpurnia s unpleasant dream
and his servant s simple warning. Cassius disagrees with Casca s statement of the god s anger toward
Caesar s death and he allows Antony to live. Brutus disapproves of Cassius s consent to prevent
Antony from speaking at Caesars funeral and Brutus agrees to the ghost s demands. Caesar, Cassius,

Cassius explains, Marc Antony, so well beloved of Caesar, should outlive Caesar... as to annoy us all :
which to prevent, let Antony and Caesar fall together. (Shakespeare, 2.1,154 161) Cassius states that
he wants Caesar dead, but never follows through with his plans. If Cassius were to only ignore Brutus
s opinion about Antony living he would not have to realize the truth during Antony s speech about
what the conspirators did to Caesar and how it was wrong. Since Cassius ignores his own omen about
taking out Antony he later regret s it because it is what leads Cassius to his suicide. Cassius disregards
Casca s warning of the God s disappointment during the storm and fails to assassinate Antony along
with Caesar. Clearly this proves that Cassius overlooks omens which significantly affects his life as he
was soon led to suicide. Alternatively, Marcus Brutus does not acknowledge various omens which
later become reasons for his demise near the time of his death. Brutus disagrees with Cassius s consent
to prevent Antony from speaking at Caesar s funeral and Brutus agrees to go where the ghost requests.
Brutus engages in a quick conversation with Cassius where he allows Antony to speak at Caesar s
funeral. Cassius disapproves of Brutus decision because he believes it may cause the people of Rome
to realize that the conspirators were in fact murders. Cassius states, You know not what you do: do not

The Horror Genre Of Horror Films Essay
The horror genre has become a popular genre among the movie industry. It has become a popular
genre since it has been evolving throughout the years it has been around, but one of its major climax
points was when the subgenre of zombies came into the mix. The zombie genre became very popular
in the year 1968 when it was first introduced in George Romero s film Night of the Living Dead.
Night of the Living Dead is one of the most prominent zombie films till this date especially since it
has introduced a new monster into the movie industry that nobody would have expected. Romero s
film intertwines with what Noel Carroll is telling us in his article Why Horror? that it is all about the
monsters that appear in the horror film. Noel Carroll s idea of the monster being the main attraction in
all horror films is somewhat true and it showed it when the audience went to watch the film by George
Romero since he introduced the zombies and it caught the audience curiosity. As soon as he caught the
audiences curiosity with the zombies they would just be focusing on the monster especially trying to
figure out how they came to be and how does one end up destroying them. Andrew Tudor in his article
titled the same as Carroll s has a different approach of explaining horror films, but in some aspect, it
relates to Carroll s claim about the monster that appears in the films. Tudors article is not about the
audiences curiosity to the monster, but about the way the audience sees the

Impossibility Of Moral Responsibility Analysis
The Illusion of Free Will or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Embrace the Basic Argument
Arguments pro et contra the possibility of free will inevitably attempt to answer the question on
whether or not moral responsibility is possible. In Impossibility of Moral Responsibility philosopher

Similarities And Differences Between My Last Duchess And...
Lover and or Last
(A analysis of the similarities and differences in My Last Duchess and Porphyria s Lover)
Murders always have rational motives for murder, and murders always have some kind of personal
relation with their victim (Schmid). It is both horrifying and interesting that the majority of victims
have a close, personal correlation with their murderers. In My Last Duchess by Robert Browning is a
dramatic monologue in which a Duke addresses the agent of a Count about the possible marriage
between him and the Count s daughter. However, before the Duke can make the decision to marry or
not to marry the Count s daughter he briefs the agent of the Count about his last Duchess. The Duke
wants to make sure that the next woman he will marry will be submissive and won t give him any
trouble, unlike his last Duchess. In Porphyria s Lover by Robert Browning is another dramatic
monologue where a very upset man is sitting in his cottage in the outskirts of town, with the fire out,

The Intruder AnalysisEssay
In Andre Dubus s short story The Intruder , Dubus tells a story of a young boy losing his innocence to
protect his sister s, while struggling to find his place between boyhood and manhood. The young boy,
who is named Kenneth, can be associated with many biblical allusions concerning the scenarios he is
put in. In The Intruder , Kenneth s relationship with Connie is being intruded on and he must protect it
with his gun, the only symbol of manliness and power he has. In some ways, Kenneth can be
portrayed as a Christ figure because of his sacrifice for his sister like Jesus did for the world. Kenneth
can be seen as many things, but all he wants to be is a manly hero.

Douglas does not find Kenneth threatening in any way even when Kenneth shows him his gun:

Nice trigger, he said. He held in front of his waist and looked at it then gave it to Kenneth. (Dubus 223
224)
Douglas is accepted by the family and Kenneth is the only one left between Douglas and Connie, like
David was the only one brave enough to fight Goliath. Kenneth can also be portrayed as Moses
leading people to safety because he does with Connie when he kills the intruder. Kenneth s experience
can also be compared to the story of Adam and Eve. Another way of saying loss of innocence, of
couse is the Fall. Adam and Eve, the garden, the serpent, the forbidden fruit. Every story about the loss
of innocence is really about someone s private reenactment of the fall from grace . (Foster 49)
Kenneth and Connie both loss some form of innocence in this story and their introduction to real death
and violence is the forbidden fruit Kenneth loses the most innocence because he commits a sin of
murder. While defending against the intruder, Kenneth acts on what he thinks is right, just like the

Communism And Fascism Similarities
There are many political philosophies in this day and age. Many people seem to confuse the terms
such as Communism, Socialism, and Fascism together. This is major mistake. Although they have
some overlap they are all different ideologies and are not the same thing. These ideologies all have

Sexism In The Barbie
Barbie Barbie is portraying the image on young girls to have the desire to look and be like her. When
girls at such a young age begin to play with Barbie they are seeing how perfect she looks. Barbie s
disproportional figure leads children and even teens to want her beautiful look that they have admired
for so many years. In 1965 the slumber party package was on the market showing buyers how straight
forward she is with her products and accessories. The package had all of the normal slumber party
things like a robe, comb, and hair rollers but it also had a weight scale set at a permanent weight of
110 and a disturbing book on weight loss that read in all caps, DON T EAT. This package is an

The GI Joe doll portrays the image of a man in the military. He dresses in camouflage and carries
around guns. Wagner Ott describes the GI Joe doll as a ...butch version of Barbie with the same
realism and detail, but applied to the toy soldier concept (249). Considering Barbie s beautiful looks
and countless perfect accessories, the GI Joe doll can relate to her. He has defined muscles, a smooth
tan, and all of his accessories fit him perfectly. These two dolls display sexist attitudes in many ways.
Barbie only moves in five different places, her neck, shoulders, and top of her legs, whereas, GI Joe
can move in twenty one different places. This shows that the male doll can be more active and mobile
but the female doll is restricted to a perfect posture and cannot do much outside. Because dolls and
action figures are emotionally close to children s lives, they can become the source for discovering
and analyzing how popular everyday objects help construct students sense of identity, politics and
culture (Wagner Ott, 252). Children are beginning to see these dolls like Barbie and GI Joe and want
everything they have and grow up to look exactly like

behaviorism? 125 250 words; 10pts During the early 1900 s Pavlov, Watson and Skinner played
essential roles in the development of behaviorism as it is known today. These psychologists began
focusing their energy on behavior rather than structuralism and functionalism. They felt that a person s

A Brief Note On The Japanese Religion Of Shintoism
Larry Guindine
World History
Mr. Alschen
September 8, 2014
Documentary Questions:
1. People tended to worship nature gods such as spirits of the earth, sky and river. As the human
communities matured and developed, local, tribal and ancestral spirits became the center of focus in
their beliefs and religious life. This leads to inferring that people did not understand natural
phenomena and thought it was a punishment for their behavior from the deities. People thought
natural phenomena was able to change based on their relationships with the deities.
2. People created a sense of community and working together. Eventually, some people began to
question their belief systems through communication and realized that they can focus more on
relationships among human beings. This led to both uniformity, dispute and separation, among people
who had different views on religion and human interaction.
3. The Japanese religion of Shintoism is most closely associated. The emperor even had to renounce
his divinity of the descendant of the sun line at the end of World War II since this religion associated
itself with the whole population of Japan, not just the royalty. To this day, many Shinto rituals are
practiced in Japan, such as wedding ceremonies at shrines and methods of protecting the people from
pollution, such as cleansing themselves with water before entering the gates of a Shinto shrine, are
still practiced.

Analysis Of Sears Holding Corporation ( Shld )
Introduction
Sears Holding Corporation (SHLD) is in need of a marketing innovation. SHLD s nine straight
quarterly losses is a prime example of how their lack of marketing contributes to their lack of profits
(Elejalde Ruiz, 2014). It is clear that SHLD s prices are significantly different than their competitors.
In some cases, SHLD offers prices that are 50% higher than Wal Mart and Target (Matarese, 2013).
The high level of competition and pricing may cause SHLD to lose business and lose control of their
bargaining power. SHLD s current marketing scheme (loyalty program) seems to be working;
however, in order to accurately access SHLD s marketing needs, a survey has been dispersed. In
addition to the survey, research has been completed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Data Ordering Analysis
Once the data from the survey was properly analyzed, I began to order responses depending upon the
answer to the question. One very important question that needed to be acknowledged was the age of
the customer; the age of SHLD shoppers needs to be addressed so that SHLD can effectively market
towards a target market that shows interest in their organization. Over 40% of the survey recipients
were between the ages of 30 48. While 32% of survey recipients were under 30 years old. These
results show that the majority of SHLD s customers are older, yet a younger crowd still shows an
interest. The next part of the survey that needs to be analyzed is the question pertaining to prices. Only
5% of the survey recipients thought that SHLD offered low prices. This leaves me to believe that even
though the majority of the customers think that SHLD do not have low prices, they are loyal to the
brand. However, lowering prices in some way, shape, or form needs occur to retain loyal customers.
After being asked whether or not SHLD offered low prices, survey recipients were then asked to rate
the levels of savings from shop your way rewards . This loyalty program is supposed to give store
credit for purchasing certain items. The survey results proved that the majority of individuals are not
saving much at all. 68%

J. Edgar Hoover Essay
J. Edgar Hoover
Former Senator Joseph McCarthy put it perfectly when he said, ... for the FBI is J. Edgar Hoover and I
think we can rest assured that it will always be. (qtd. in Denenberg 7). J. Edgar Hoover is credited for
reconstructing the Bureau of Investigations (later renamed Federal Bureau of Investigations).
Regardless of how people saw him, Hoover was powerful and committed, and did everything within
his power to improve the agency that would make this country a safer place for all.
John Edgar Hoover was born New Years Day in 1895. After years of education and law school he
started as a third generation government worker in July 1917 as a clerk for the Justice Department

Education in law, accounting, languages or science was an earlier requirement that Hoover revived.
Any agent already in office who was not qualified or who had a criminal record was fired (Denenberg

(Directors). Hoover developed extensive training programs and followed the requirements himself. All
agents had to be in top physical condition, and be of outstanding appearance and character. Drinking
alcohol was prohibited on and off duty (Denenberg 35). Hoover held discipline as the most important
trait. He saw ... an undisciplined law enforcement agency as a menace to society (Hoover 39). For
himself and the people of the FBI, Mr. Hoover set rigid standards of personal behavior. Many agents
who were reluctant to work under the strict guidelines quit (Denenberg 31). He never apologized for
the high standards for agents; he saw it as a necessity for the FBI s success (Hoover 41). To this day,
Hoover s contribution to law enforcement management and training make him one of the greatest in
the law enforcement field.
The agents treated the suspects with integrity and used physiological tactics to get the information
needed. For example, when accused kidnapper John Henry Seadlund was apprehended and taken in

Illness And Spectral Evidence In The Salem Witch Trials
During the 17th century and a time when there was a strong belief in the devil (Sutter, 2003) a very
well known incident took place, The Salem Witch Trials. What started out as innocent meetings in the
kitchen of the town minister, Samuel Parris, with the slave from the Caribbean and some of the towns
young girls, one of which was his young daughter and another his niece, turned into the accusations of
witchcraft by means of an unknown illness and spectral evidence. The town of Salem Massachusetts
would forever be changed in 1692 where one hundred forty people were accused of witchcraft, 19
hanged and one man pressed to death.
Spectral Evidence, what is it
Spectral evidence was used alongside the people exhibiting odd behavior of Salem to determine they
were bewitched , as the towns doctor had diagnosed (Sutter, 2003) But what is spectral evidence?
Spectral evidence can be defined as testimony given that an accused person s spirit or spectral shape
appeared to the witness in a dream at the time the accused person s physical body was at another
location (Sutter, 2003, para.7) This type of evidence was allowed during the trials because all a person
had to say that they saw the spirit of the accused and they would be put on trial and most likely
convicted (Lewis, 2017)
The Salem Witch Trials
The Salem Witch Trials took place beginning in the winter of 1692 and ended that same year. Burning
at the stake was the punishment for witchcraft in Europe, not Colonial America

The concurring judgment of 2:1 was pronounced by the SC on 20th January, 2012. The decision has
been widely discussed because of interesting point of law and huge revenue involved of Rs. 11,000 (

losing the Vodafone s case, the stand of the Govt. has weakened in other similar cases. The legal issue
related to the interpretation of provisions of section 9 of the Income tax Act, 1961 (Act), read with
section 5 of the Act. In the first round of litigation, the matter primarily related to the issue whether
any income accrued or arose to Vodafone in India on entering into agreements between two companies
for acquiring controlling interest, which one foreign company held in an Indian company, by another
foreign company and, hence, Vodafone was obliged to deduct tax at source on such acquisition. The
basic question involved was whether Indian tax authorities had a right to impose tax in respect of a
transaction where both the transacting companies were based outside India, but the subjectmatter of
transfer was in India. Hence, the notice issued was challenged.2 DECISION AGAINST THE IT
DEPARTMENT The Supreme Court has decided the case against the IT Department holding that no

A Research Project On Project Management Essay
Introduction
Working in the industry I do I have found myself in the position of either initiating or participating the
process improvement projects. I feel that project management is a very broad term for any type of
project that a company, or individual, uses to implement a change or improvement to a product or
service. With this definition, I concluded that one of biggest projects I ever managed was when I was
approached and began participating in a Greenbelt (PMP) project for a process that I utilize daily
basis. The intention of this project was to eliminate email correspondence and create a more
streamlined form of communication from engineering to manufacturing in regards to change orders.
As the bill of materials specialist for the configuration management team and having 8+ years
experience in the field I was the first point of contact when it came to improvements or ideas.
Mission Statement
To begin a project a mission statement must be identified. A mission statement states the purpose of a
project its general direction and aims. (Leading Project Teams). A mission statement should be clear
and concise in nature and should establish the intention of the projects outcome. In this project the
mission statement, as mentioned above, was to ultimately to eliminate or reduce email correspondence
between departments. The mission statement indicated the project team responsible for completing
this project and the stakeholders who were responsible for the review and

Voting Is A Right That All Americans
Voting is a right that all Americans have once hitting the age of 18 regardless of race, gender, or
financial status. However, not everyone chooses to exercise these rights or even fully understands how
to use them properly. Voting is not as simple as just going to a ballot box and checking the box for the
person whom had the most signs and television commercials. Being a voter means that one has an
influence over the government and who makes important decisions regarding the nation or state.
However, if one does not know all of the details about who they are voting for, they could be voting
blindly. It is important to do research and make factual decisions about who should be elected. If one
is not fully informed, than the less suitable candidate could be elected into office due to a lack of
information. All of the information necessary to make a strong decision is available, it just depends on
whether or not Americans go through the effort to locate it and use it. Voting for the most desired and
suitable candidate is important whether it is congressional district, senate, or presidency.

Essay on Midnight in Paris
The star studded romantic comedy Midnight in Paris is one of Woody Allen s most recent films which
he did both, wrote and directed. It is a film about a man named Gil (Owen Wilson) who travels to
Paris with his fiancée s parents in order to expand his imagination and he ends up embarking on a
journey to the 1920s while walking the streets of Paris at night. Not only is this film engaging and
witty, but it also manages to provide both, overt and covert examples of postmodernism in film. By
analyzing Woody Allen s 2011film Midnight in Paris, we can identify the presence of many
underlying motifs in both the narrative and the characterization of the film when using some of
Frederic Jameson and Jean Baudrillard s concepts on postmodernism. ... Show more content on

In Midnight in Paris, Gil tags along with her fiancées family to a trip in Paris in order to become more
inspired by the ambiance of the beautiful city, by having Gil experience the golden age without any
help of technology, he is deliberately opposing the idea of postmodernism and how people tend to
connect to people and places. According to Jameson, everything we experience is mediated by
technology or capitalism, so we no longer experience things as natural unmediated. It is inferred that
Gil understands this, and therefore decides to get out of Los Angeles in order to experience Paris for
himself, instead of through the use of technology. We see how his fiancées opposes his views in the
scene in which it is raining, and she attempts to avoid the rain while Gil is happily enjoying walking in
the rain. In this film, we can see how Inez s character represents popular culture which does not bother
experiencing things without being mediated, while Gil attempts to accomplish the opposite. He
attempts to have a fell for the mood and ambient of the city in order to regain the inspiration and
motivation he had lost while in the city, where mostly everything is mediated by modern items.
In the film, there tends to be a constant, and sometimes excessive schizophrenic tendency in the
characterization of Gil, he has a tendency to look backwards. When looking at Frederic Jameson s
concept on postmodernism, he suggests that according to Jacques Lacan, schizophrenia

The Decriminalization Of Prostitution And Sex Work In Canada
One of the world s oldest professions is still a prevalent topic in Canadian law today (Ruddell 2017,
13 14). Prostitution and sex work have been topics of debate in society for decades. By definition,
prostitution and sex work involve the exchange of sexual activity for some form of payment, most
often money. In December 2013, the Supreme Court of Canada decriminalized prostitution, making it
legal, in order to reduce the victimization of sex workers (Ruddell 2017, 13 14). Although the act of
prostitution is now legal in Canada, many other laws criminalize activities involved in prostitution that
are often necessary for the safety of the workers (Ruddell 2017, 13 14). The current laws pertaining
prostitution and the sex work industry in Canada further amplify the stigma that those working in
related industries are a nuisance to society and do not consider the health, safety, or overall well being
of such people. In order to make lasting social change, we must continue to evaluate current laws
pertaining prostitution. By examining the implications of public opinion and views on prostitution, we
can create a better idea of how to move forward with new legislation. Obtaining a better understanding
on the effects our current laws have on the sex workers and their industries will allow us to make more
efficient and meaningful change. In order to make lasting social change, we must defeat the stigma
surrounding sex work, better understand public opinion and knowledge, and begin

Moon Landing Persuasive Essay
The moon landing was an incredible feat of man. The first mission to the moon was on July 16, 1969.
Neil Armstrong, Edwin Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins were the first three astronauts to go onto the
moon. Some people think that the moon landing was faked. However, there is no possible way that the
moon landing could have been faked.
The moon landing was not faked because so many people were involved. First off, this because Joshua
Barajas from PBS said, an estimated 405,000 people involved. This proves my point because if the
moon landing was faked, this many people could not keep a secret for this long. If the moon landing
was faked, this should have been exposed in less than 10 years. Furthermore, Nixon Library says that,
An estimated 600 million people watched the moon landing. If this many people watched it, they
would have found out real proof that the moon landing is faked. Because of these reasons, the moon
landing could not have been faked. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, NASA has said that NASA s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, or LRO, has returned its

space rover has seen the Apollo landing sites. The moon landing is real because if it were fake, then
other spacecrafts would not have seen the landing

  • 2. Causes And Treatment Of Pulmonary Edema Abstract Pulmonary edema can be divided into two categories, cardiogenic and non cardiogenic. Both of these can be life threatening if not treated on time. One of the main characteristics of this disease is the increased fluid in the interstitial spaces and alveoli in the lungs. Cardiogenic pulmonary edema as the name implies, is cause by heart failure. The most common type of heart failure seen with cardiogenic pulmonary edema is left ventricular failure also known as congestive heart failure (CHF). On the other hand, non cardiogenic pulmonary edema can be caused by many factors including high altitudes, drugs, inhaled toxins, etc. When a patient has pulmonary edema, some common signs and symptoms include excessive shortness of breath, ... People with pulmonary edema cannot fully fill their lungs with air due to stiffness of the lungs. Definition Pulmonary edema happens as a result from excessive movement of fluid from the vascular system to the extravascular system and air spaces of the lungs.1,3 5,7,11 It is generally divided into two main pathogenetic types which are hydrostatic (commonly cardiogenic) and permeability edema, also termed normal pressure noncardiogenic.1 3,5,7 8,11Cardiogenic pulmonary edema is caused by increased pressures in the heart. This condition occurs when the left ventricle is not able get out enough of the blood it receives from the lungs (congestive heart failure).1,3,5 7 However, Noncardiogenic, as the name implies, is not caused by the heart. In this condition, fluid may leak from the capillaries in your lungs air sacs because the capillaries become more penetrable or leaky, even without the increased pressure that is built from your heart.1,3 5,7 8,11 Etiology Heart failure can be caused by many different types of problems in the heart.1 3,5,7 8,11 We all know that the heart itself is responsible for the movement of fluids in the body. • 3. Civil Rights Constructive Discharge MEMO Civil Rights Act 1964 (Constructive Discharge) Schedule Shift beginning on Jan 1, 2013 (Work on a Religious Holy Day) Date: March 10, 2013 Dear Mr. CEO, Pursuant to the claim made against Toy Company, LLC ( TCL ) regarding constructive discharge and working on a religious holy day, of which it is a legal concept put into practice in 1964 under the Civil Rights Act ( CRA ). I have located a few items of interest that will allow us to respond with understanding and basic knowledge. Understanding Constructive Discharge: Constructive Discharge occurs when a company has created intolerable conditions for which an employee is to work. Unbearable conditions include but are not limited to discrimination or harassment, and negative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ed.2d 305 (1986), which stated more than loss of pay is required to demonstrate discipline or discharge, There has been a current case that happened in the Supreme Court, Burlington Northern, based off of the retaliatory stating that the expansion of the level of retaliatory conduct needed may not be a lasting approach. Therefore, if it isn t going to remain a standard within the court rulings and looks to change, we may have the burden of proof to demonstrate that we have complied with every option imaginable. This could be difficult in the future to demonstrate what actionable items we have done. It seems far easier to state what we haven t done than to state what we have done. To avoid this happening in the future we can do a few things to protect us. Many preventative actions such as rotating shifts, allow for a fulltime substitute worker group that is skilled in all areas (this could consist of 3 4 people who cover shifts when needed), and/or coordinate work schedules to benefit those who would like more hours to accept openings that are offered first on suspected religious holy days, these actions could help protect us from future claims. This could allow the workers the opportunity to have options for someone to cover their shifts. On these bases, it would seem wise and very prudent to proceed with carefulness in this area, and use extreme caution prior to refuting or rescinding an accommodation regarding religious holy day practice as per the ... • 4. The Role Of Journalism And Its Impact On Journalism Historically, professional journalism has been built around two fundamentals: visual and textual. While numbers have played a role in journalism as well, journalists have constantly downplayed their importance in making up the professional skillset, which leads to a difficulty in presenting numerical data responsibly and accurately (Maier 2002). A noteworthy is the subfield of computer assisted reporting, which focuses on examining quantitative data through a journalistic lens. Over the past several years, this data driven form of journalism has become more important within the profession as it has joined with the increasingly ever present digitization of personal and public information. As more information continues to become increasingly zeroes and ones at the most basic level, journalism has increasingly been involved in gathering, analyzing, and computing that information as well as quantitative data. This surge of quantitatively focused journalism has deep democratic roots with numerous forms tied to the public service tradition of investigative journalism (Cox 2000) and open government advocacy (Parasie and Dagiral 2012). It has great potential to increase journalism s ability to make democratic institutions more understandable and receptive to the public, but even within this subfield of journalism, views of the public and the journalistic process are different. The Relationship Between Class And Our Understanding Of Crime Discussion about the relationship between class and our understanding of crime has been an ongoing debate between sociologists for centuries. Some claim that although, in the past, there was a relationship between the two, that in our modern society, the idea of class has diminished and is in fact, dead. Therefore, how could it be related to criminal activity and our understanding of it? However, on the other hand many claim that the concept of class is very much still alive, and is actually one of the main components in sociology s study of crime among those are perhaps two of the most renowned sociologists; Karl Marx and Max Weber, whose theories combined lay the fundamental basis of sociological analysis s of class and social ... His explanation of social class was that it was a group of people who stand in a common relationship to the means of production the means by which they gain a livelihood. (Giddons, 2013). Using Marx s concept, it can be argued that in every society, past and present, there has been some form of class system; from feudal time when there were the aristocrats and the serfs to more modern society composed of the bourgeoisie and the proletariat those who own and control the means of production, and those who sell their labour for a wage. Marx claimed that those in the bourgeois exploited the proletariat by using their power to take advantage of the systems they could influence in order to please themselves. The bourgeois capitalist ideology was introduced into society through the superstructure, and was extended and drilled into the brains of proletariat through education, employment, politics and the judiciary system to mention a few. Marx therefore argued that there is a subtlety to how the bourgeoisie exploit the proletariat. It is clear that SHLD s prices are significantly different than their competitors. In some cases, SHLD offers prices that are 50% higher than Wal Mart and Target (Matarese, 2013). The high level of competition and pricing may cause SHLD to lose business and lose control of their bargaining power. SHLD s current marketing scheme (loyalty program) seems to be working; however, in order to accurately access SHLD s marketing needs, a survey has been dispersed. In addition to the survey, research has been completed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The results of the survey will be ordered in a way that depicts a marketing strategy for SHLD Data Ordering Analysis Once the data from the survey was properly analyzed, I began to order responses depending upon the answer to the question. One very important question that needed to be acknowledged was the age of the customer; the age of SHLD shoppers needs to be addressed so that SHLD can effectively market towards a target market that shows interest in their organization. Over 40% of the survey recipients were between the ages of 30 48. While 32% of survey recipients were under 30 years old. These results show that the majority of SHLD s customers are older, yet a younger crowd still shows an interest. The next part of the survey that needs to be analyzed is the question pertaining to prices. Only 5% of the survey recipients thought that SHLD offered low prices. This leaves me to believe that even though the majority of the customers think that SHLD do not have low prices, they are loyal to the brand. However, lowering prices in some way, shape, or form needs occur to retain loyal customers. After being asked whether or not SHLD offered low prices, survey recipients were then asked to rate the levels of savings from shop your way rewards . This loyalty program is supposed to give store credit for purchasing certain items. The survey results proved that the majority of individuals are not saving much at all. 68% ... What started out as innocent meetings in the kitchen of the town minister, Samuel Parris, with the slave from the Caribbean and some of the towns young girls, one of which was his young daughter and another his niece, turned into the accusations of witchcraft by means of an unknown illness and spectral evidence. The town of Salem Massachusetts would forever be changed in 1692 where one hundred forty people were accused of witchcraft, 19 hanged and one man pressed to death. Spectral Evidence, what is it Spectral evidence was used alongside the people exhibiting odd behavior of Salem to determine they were bewitched , as the towns doctor had diagnosed (Sutter, 2003) But what is spectral evidence? Spectral evidence can be defined as testimony given that an accused person s spirit or spectral shape appeared to the witness in a dream at the time the accused person s physical body was at another location (Sutter, 2003, para.7) This type of evidence was allowed during the trials because all a person had to say that they saw the spirit of the accused and they would be put on trial and most likely convicted (Lewis, 2017) The Salem Witch Trials The Salem Witch Trials took place beginning in the winter of 1692 and ended that same year. A Research Project On Project Management Essay Introduction Working in the industry I do I have found myself in the position of either initiating or participating the process improvement projects. I feel that project management is a very broad term for any type of project that a company, or individual, uses to implement a change or improvement to a product or service. With this definition, I concluded that one of biggest projects I ever managed was when I was approached and began participating in a Greenbelt (PMP) project for a process that I utilize daily basis. However, not everyone chooses to exercise these rights or even fully understands how to use them properly. Voting is not as simple as just going to a ballot box and checking the box for the person whom had the most signs and television commercials. Being a voter means that one has an influence over the government and who makes important decisions regarding the nation or state. However, if one does not know all of the details about who they are voting for, they could be voting blindly. It is important to do research and make factual decisions about who should be elected. If one is not fully informed, than the less suitable candidate could be elected into office due to a lack of information. All of the information necessary to make a strong decision is available, it just depends on whether or not Americans go through the effort to locate it and use it. • 35. Essay on Midnight in Paris The star studded romantic comedy Midnight in Paris is one of Woody Allen s most recent films which he did both, wrote and directed. It is a film about a man named Gil (Owen Wilson) who travels to Paris with his fiancée s parents in order to expand his imagination and he ends up embarking on a journey to the 1920s while walking the streets of Paris at night. Not only is this film engaging and witty, but it also manages to provide both, overt and covert examples of postmodernism in film. By analyzing Woody Allen s 2011film Midnight in Paris, we can identify the presence of many underlying motifs in both the narrative and the characterization of the film when using some of Frederic Jameson and Jean Baudrillard s concepts on postmodernism. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Midnight in Paris, Gil tags along with her fiancées family to a trip in Paris in order to become more inspired by the ambiance of the beautiful city, by having Gil experience the golden age without any help of technology, he is deliberately opposing the idea of postmodernism and how people tend to connect to people and places. According to Jameson, everything we experience is mediated by technology or capitalism, so we no longer experience things as natural unmediated. It is inferred that Gil understands this, and therefore decides to get out of Los Angeles in order to experience Paris for himself, instead of through the use of technology. We see how his fiancées opposes his views in the scene in which it is raining, and she attempts to avoid the rain while Gil is happily enjoying walking in the rain. In this film, we can see how Inez s character represents popular culture which does not bother experiencing things without being mediated, while Gil attempts to accomplish the opposite. He attempts to have a fell for the mood and ambient of the city in order to regain the inspiration and motivation he had lost while in the city, where mostly everything is mediated by modern items. In the film, there tends to be a constant, and sometimes excessive schizophrenic tendency in the characterization of Gil, he has a tendency to look backwards. • 37. The Decriminalization Of Prostitution And Sex Work In Canada One of the world s oldest professions is still a prevalent topic in Canadian law today (Ruddell 2017, 13 14). Prostitution and sex work have been topics of debate in society for decades. By definition, prostitution and sex work involve the exchange of sexual activity for some form of payment, most often money. In December 2013, the Supreme Court of Canada decriminalized prostitution, making it legal, in order to reduce the victimization of sex workers (Ruddell 2017, 13 14). Although the act of prostitution is now legal in Canada, many other laws criminalize activities involved in prostitution that are often necessary for the safety of the workers (Ruddell 2017, 13 14). The current laws pertaining prostitution and the sex work industry in Canada further amplify the stigma that those working in related industries are a nuisance to society and do not consider the health, safety, or overall well being of such people. In order to make lasting social change, we must continue to evaluate current laws pertaining prostitution. By examining the implications of public opinion and views on prostitution, we can create a better idea of how to move forward with new legislation. Obtaining a better understanding on the effects our current laws have on the sex workers and their industries will allow us to make more efficient and meaningful change. First off, this because Joshua Barajas from PBS said, an estimated 405,000 people involved.
