William Blake Allusions
In William Blake s Poem The Chimney Sweeper , Blake uses allusions, symbols, and metaphor to
convey his theme of Innocence, Death, and Youth. With this Blake also goes in depth about the
speakers childhood. Finally Blake ends with a dream and how innocence is a major part of the poem.
Blake s foundation of this poem relies on biblical allusions which provide the poem with a theme of
innocence and, without them, Blake may have just had an ordinary poem with no deeper meaning in
it. Linkin states that The Angel s reported promise provides the first linguistic surprise in the poem...
the Angel told Tom if he d be a good boy, / He d have God for his father never want joy (32 33). Youth
takes over here as the little boy instead of being told ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tom Dacre is very crucial to the poem and in an Overview of The Chimney Sweeper it mentions In
the second stanza, the child identifies another young sweeper, Tom Dacre, who cried when his head
was shaven (his curls are compared to the wool of a lamb s back) (1 2). This scene adds onto the
theme of youth and innocence which is what most of the poem revolves around. So it is very clear that
this is where the most noticeable metaphor in the poem is so far with Blake relating crying Tom Dacre
to a lamb. As Blake does allusions he also connects it to metaphors because when he writes locked up
in coffins of black (12), this can also be taken as a metaphor for the soot that the children are covered
in after they clean chimneys. Then in further thought the coffins, which is relation to the theme of
death and how the youthful chimney sweepers are trapped in cases before they are released as Blake
cleverly writes an Angel who had a bright key, And he opened the coffins set them all free (13 14).
The angel sets them free and they can finally get free and cleanse their souls, at least that is what
Blake is going for when he writes And wash in a river and shine in the Sun. Then naked white, all
their bags left behind, They rise upon clouds, and sport in the wind. (16 18) These lines contain two
metaphors which are that they are cleansing their

Word Choice and Tone in Bradstreet s The Author to Her Book
After reading The Author to her Book, it helps to know about the author s background. Anne
Bradstreet wrote this poem after she had received her recently published book. The problem was that
she did not want her book published. In her eyes, it was unfinished and full of mistakes. In the poem,
she treats the book as a child and uses a satirical tone. Her choice of words and tone are very
important to the theme of the poem. Some readers, mainly logical, would think that the author is
simply talking about a child. The truth is that she is talking about her recently finished book.
Bradstreet shows a mixture of emotions toward what just happened. The poem starts by speaking of a
child. An ill formed (1) child is mentioned. This indicates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She also expresses a tone of slight fear. She is afraid that others will judge the book because of all the
errors in it rather than focusing on the content of the book. At thy return my blushing was not small, /
My rambling brat (in print) should mother call. (7 8) These two lines show her embarrassment of the
book. She was obviously not ready for the book to be expressed to the public, and she was mortified at
the amount of mistakes she had made. She was ashamed to call it her book, and symbolized it as a brat
(8) in her poem. She sees it as an ill disciplined child for leaving her sight. Yet being mine own, at
length affection would / Thy blemishes amend, if so I could: / I washed thy face, but more defects I
saw, / And rubbing off a spot, still made a flaw. (11 14) Bradstreet sees her book as a child that only a
mother could love. She wanted to revise the book, but while she was reading the published copy, in
her mind making changes, she only came across more problems. She would change one thing that
would, in turn, make another thing wrong. She uses a loving yet critical tone for her book in this part
of the poem. She does love her book, but, as aforementioned, she was not ready to publish it. But
nought save homespun cloth in the house I find. (18) Bradstreet continually notices things that she
would have done differently, if given the chance. This line shows a tone of sadness and regret once
again. She wanted to

Behaviours
Behavioural segmentation divides buyers into groups based on their knowledge, attitudes, uses or
responses to a product. Many marketers believe that behaviour variables are the best starting point for
building market segments.
Target marketing allows you to reach, create awareness in, and ultimately influence, that group of
people most likely to select your products and services as a solution to their needs
Research on the marketing needs
According to Costantino. M (1998) ‘fashion begins and ends with the consumer, and no matter which
part of the fashion industry a marketing orientated organization works in, it s primary task is to satisfy
the consumer s or consumers needs and wants .
Identifying the unmet needs of the customers are important, in a journal article written by Swantko. K.
(2004) Ron Solomons who is the swimwear producer of Jennifer Kay, Inc., was interviewed on the
importance of fit in the U.S. swimwear market, Solomons stated, ‘Fit is everything, and when it
comes to swimwear, which is a kin to intimate apparel, the most important area of fit is in the bra.
Most American women don t know the correct fit in a bra. This is a country of self selection, and very
little service .
Consequently, the fit has become paramount. Women of all sizes want fashion choices that fit their
bodies and their lifestyles. Swantko. K. (2004)

What Is Cyrus A Political Genius
By the seventh century, under the leadership of Cyrus the Great (r. 559 530 BC), the Persian Empire
expanded from a small kingdom to a multi ethnic empire that stretched from India to the Egypt in the
Mediterranean Sea. His first conquest was Media in 550 BC, along the Caspian Sea. Then he seized
Asia Minor in 547 BC. Finally, by 539 BC, he turned his army s might against the Chaldeans, taking
his greatest competitor and greatest prize gaining control of important trade routes that crossed Iran
and Anatolia.
Unlike previous major empires in the Middle East, Persians had a different political and cultural value
system from Greeks. Cyrus was a political genius. He had an inclusive concept of rule (pg. 52). After

Forward Head Posture Fix Review
Introduction
Do you know that bad posture is a common problem in our current generation? It is also true to state
that most activities we carry out during the day involves the use of technology. This can be through
the use of a phone, tablet or a computer. It is therefore good to have a forward head body posture.
Body posture has effects on our fitness level. We are mostly going to focus on how to fix posture so
that it doesn t affect our fitness level. Bad posture is mostly as a result of weight of the head pulling
the rest of your body forward.
Unhealthy body posture can cause the following conditions:
Headaches and sinus issues
Fatigue and dizziness
Decrease in strength and stamina
Mental functioning decreases
Heavier physical appearances. A person at times looks shorter
We are also going to look at some exercises which improve posture.

Ancient Civilization Of Greece
The Ancient Civilization of Greece
By Gavin Bullock
Ancient Greece was a beautiful land full of wonder, excitement, covered I farmland myths, and
mystery. It was and covered in cities and lush farmland. During the Minoan and Mycenaean age, no
particular first ruler was stated. One of the most famous rulers of Ancient Greece was Alexander the
Great, who was also one of the most successful military commanders of all time. He died by a strange
illness at the young age of 33. In Ancient Greece territories called city states were constantly at war
with each other. Athens and Sparta, being the largest of the city states, were at war the most. Athens
had a massive navy whereas Sparta had better trained soldiers. During times when Greece was with
other countries, the city states would put aside their differences and unite and push back the invading
forces.
Greece was constantly envied by other empires. One of these was Persia. Persia was a strong and fast
growing empire. It was also very large and had a vast army; half of it was made of conquered nation s
troops. Persia wanted to capture Greece and its lush farmland and powerful city states. Persia wanted
it so bad that they waged two wars on the Greeks. The first on was called the Greeco Persian ... Show

The Pros And Cons Of Tragedy Donation
Introduction A charitable donation refers to a gift made by an organization or an individual to a private
foundation, charity or non profit organization. The U.S has allowed deduction on income tax to
individual and corporate donors for their charitable donations since 1917 (Colinvaux Dale, 2015).
Often, these donations represent the main source of funding for most of the nonprofit and charitable
organizations. In most countries, a charitable donation made to any of the qualifying organization
entitles one to an income tax deduction. Organizations that do not qualify as charitable are considered
for profit and are taxed accordingly to that effect. The Charitable Contributions Deduction entitles
taxpayers to a tax deduction for the financial year in which they made their donations. The aim of this
essay is to compare between the taxation of donations made to a charitable organization by a
corporation and that made by an individual.
Comparison of charitable contributions by a corporation versus and individual Individual shareholders
in a private company should compare whether they will realize higher tax benefits by personally
donating to charitable organizations or by donating through their corporation. A corporation qualifies
for similar charitable deductions that apply to individuals (Bank, 2017). The general rule for
allowance of deduction for individual and corporate charitable donations is that any charitable
donation (as defined in U.S Code (U.S.C) section 170

Merit Based Pay
Edmond Holmes, Great Britain s chief academic inspector, defined education in the era of merit based
pay as the teacher involved in laying thin films of information on the surface of the child s mind, and
then, after a brief interval, in skimming these off in order to satisfy himself that they have been duly
laid (Nelson, 2001). Holmes referred to this type of recall as being the equivalent of food which its
recipient has not been allowed to digest .
In 1918, 48 percent of U.S. public school districts described their payment systems as merit based. But
merit was subjective: White men were paid more than minorities and women, a disparity that
eventually fueled a movement toward a uniform pay scale. Two years after women won the vote, the
first uniform pay plans appeared in Denver, Colorado, and Des Moines, Iowa. By the 1950s, only 4
percent of U.S. school districts described themselves as merit based (Murnane Cohen, 1986; Protsik,
1996). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the early 1980s, when A Nation at Risk warned citizens with the prospect of a rising tide of
mediocrity threatening to overwhelm U.S. schools, President Reagan reestablished trials with
performance based pay, with equally negative effects. Some schools experimented through the late
1980s with inducement programs based on merit, administration by aims, and career ladder or
differentiated staffing tactics. Few such trials had run smoothly for long. Another set of experiments
emerged in the 1990s, wherein most were also based on career ladders, teacher expertise and
knowledge, or differentiated

anything else of value that could benefit their cause. They evaded prosecution because of the wide
open sea and the impenetrable coastal mazes of reefs, inlets, and river mouths, the pirates were able to
escape the wrath of the law for several decades (Kuhn, 2009; 2010, 29). Those who enter into this
lifestyle were called pirates. Some of the most successful pirates whom their names are still spoken
today and are idolized are Blackbeard, Black Bart, Captain Morgan, and Calico Jack just to name a
few. The list goes on and on. All the mention pirates terrorized vast bodies of water and colonies

The most notable flag signifying piracy is the skull with the two crossed swords that is seen today in
Hollywood movies. This flag was flown under the control of Calico Jack, who terrorized the beautiful
water of the Caribbean. Pirates took advantage of the geographic structure just as modern day pirates
do today. Shipping routes are very predictable and narrow channels help to funnel vessels into an
ambush style attack limiting mobility for the fleeing ships. In history pirate sailed, waters included
greater parts of the Atlantic, Straits of Malacca and Gibraltar, Gulf of Aden, Caribbean, Red Sea,
Indian Ocean, and Somalian coast just to name a few. The penalty for piracy was death normally by
hanging. That could give a reason why they fought so hard because at any moment, it could be their
last not to mention that a single ship could be carrying riches beyond the imagination. As Navies
around the world realized the problems of piracy, they started to build ships that were faster and
equipped with a variety of heavy weapons to hunt them down. They were considered hostiles, and
action could be taken on site without any governing order. They were hanged, shot

The Principal Agent System
The principal agent system also offers employers a chance to screen applicants that they believe might
present a moral hazard to the country by entering the social welfare system or becoming criminals.
Employers can also monitor immigrants after their settlement, and any immigrant s status can be
jeopardized by an inability to keep a job. The federal government s delegation of power allows
employers to threaten deportation at their own discretion. The INA (Immigration and Nationality Act)
was formed in 1952, and has since been amended multiple times over the ensuing decades, but
remains the most collected and representative body of American immigration law. In 1986 the IRCA
(the Immigration Reform and Control Act) and the IMFA (the Immigration Marriage Fraud
Amendments Act of 1986) were passed from legislation to law. These laws collectively served the
purpose of establishing amnesty for a certain number of illegal aliens, and restricting access to
employment without documentation of eligibility. This law also created a system of sanctions
requiring all employers to verify the identity and work authorization of any new job applicants. In
order to address the possibility of discrimination, employers in these situations were not permitted to
investigate further than the face of the provided documents. This law also imposed restrictions on
immigrants who applied for citizenship based on a marriage that was under two years old. Such
applicants were placed on temporary

College Is Not The Cheapest Thing
Many people state that college is expensive and they are now starting to question whether or not it is
really worth it in the end. College is every bit worth it, the knowledge that students can gain from the
courses are substantial. There are many courses that are geared toward your career choice and this will
help you in the long run. While there may be students who are not able to find jobs after they earn
their degree, many do and get paid at a high amount. Even though college is not the cheapest thing,
the money spent is well worth it. For instance, let us say that the degree necessary for a surgeon is
about eighty thousand dollars. The money spent is well worth it because surgeons easily make about
almost two hundred thousand dollars. Most importantly, the experience you gain from attending such
a high institution is like no other. The knowledge students gain from college is like no other, other
institutions can not even compare to it. You always hear freshman say that college is nothing like high
school, you can not slack off even a bit. I have had some experience with college, not going to the
actual institution but taking a course. At my previous school, Cesar Chavez High, classes were offered
to us by San Joaquin Delta College. I never planned on taking any college courses but it turned out
when I was signing up for classes that Psychology was a college course. The class was very different

What Is Polarization Sensitivity Of Hcg
to be explored .
Polarization sensitivity of HCG: As polarization selectivity is important in many applications like
VCSELs. It has been shown through the literature that most of the research is done on the 1
dimensional HCGs. Because of the asymmetrical grating profile for TE and TM polarizations, 1D
HCGs are polarization sensitive. so they can provide high reflectivity in a specific polarization at a
particular wavelength. But there is a need of Polarization insensitive HCGs. Polarization independent
HCGs requires two dimensional HCG. So there is a need to study the properties of 2 D HCGs for
polarization insensitivity.

2.4 Research Gaps
Not much work has been published on performance evaluation of HCG for different values of angle of
incidence and with different wavelengths. Also the effect of polarization on the grating properties has
not been explored yet [16]. Less work has been done on tight optical confinement hollow waveguide
with low temperature dependence [52]. Older high index contrast grating based ultra low loss hollow
core waveguides are not cost effective because of the requirement of long gratings necessary for wave
guiding [53]. No report on hollow core waveguide with high index contrast grating as top and bottom
mirror inserted as lateral periodicity [55]
2.5 Research Objectives
On the basis of the understanding established from the initial study and literature survey the
following objectives are proposed:
Design and simulation of a novel broad band and high reflective single layer high index contrast
grating for larger bandwidth at grazing optical incidence. Design and simulation of an Hollow
Waveguide (with improved propagation characteristics loss, dispersion, bandwidth, spot size, optical
confinement etc.) where proposed High Index Contrast Grating will be used as top and bottom mirror.
Simulation of dispersion characteristics of proposed hollow core waveguide Design and simulation of

Essay On Voting Rights
Without a doubt voting rights have grown since their first implications in the beginning of this
democracy. In the beginning the only person who were able to vote and be part of the government
were white protestant male. However, that would of course change after the Voting Rights Act that
was signed into order by President Lyndon Johnson that would remove discriminating factors used on
African Americans due to the fact that it was unconstitutional under the firth teen amendment. Some
of the discriminating factors that were used were laws passed on by the jim crow laws that included
literacy test, or trick questions that had to be answered as well as poll taxes all which kept the lower
class and minorities from having a vote in what they believe in. However, minorities were not the only
ones left outside of the voting precincts women would also not have the right to vote until the women
s suffrage movement that would lead into the 19 Amendment which gave everybody a right to vote
regardless of gender. Although, this was a merely 90 years ago in the 1920 s which is a considerable
small amount of time considering our form of government isn t that old. Even with all these
ratifications of forming new laws to make everything equal regardless of race and gender there are
still a problem with voting in today s age although the problems rely more on the technology being
used, the access into the polls, as well as a variety of choice in nominees

Howard Zinn Subjectivity
Subjectivity and Its Place in Historical Writings
Howard Zinn was an acclaimed historian and social rights activist, born in 1922. He has written many
well known books, including A People s History of the United States and A People s History of
American Empire. The reason that these books are so well known is because Zinn is a very special
kind of historian. Unlike other historians who might be more objective about history and just give you
the straight facts, Zinn is openly partial in his account of history giving readers a more subjective view
of these events. This causes his writing to have a bias, much greater than what usually comes naturally
in history, and portray history from the side of the oppressed. This undermines typical history ... Show

This right is given to citizens of the United States and humans across the globe by Article 19 of The
Universal Declaration of Human Rights, written by the United Nations that govern our world (United
Nations, The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Article 19). We deserve to know facts and
nothing but facts, and use these facts to develop our own opinions on the facts presented to us. By
Zinn taking a partial point of view, the omission of exculpatory evidence about events in history is
utilized to persuade the reader into falling under the same opinion about an issue as he does
(Stanford.edu, David Plotnikoff). By doing this, Zinn s credibility is being flaunted as he might leave
out information that could completely change the opinion of the reader. However, it would be
completely impractical to have a very large book with all of history written upon thousands of pages,
but it is obvious that Zinn left out some key facts. For example, Zinn describes the indigenous people
of North America to be unbelievably pleasant. He constantly makes remarks about how unbelievably
welcoming they were to Columbus and how they simply survived blissfully without the need
commerce instead just sharing what they owned (Zinn, People s History, Page 1). While this may be
somewhat true, he never came close to discussing the amount of bloodshed between some indigenous
tribes like the Iroquois and the savages that was described in the writing of Champlain in which rival
tribes would battle in close quarters combat. Combat that caused many fatalities among both tribes
(Champlain). Although this does not change the fact that Columbus murdered many people in his
conquests and that the Spaniards acted upon them like wolves, tigers and lions which had been
starving for many days, it still may change the opinion of many about the indigenous population as a
whole (La Casa). Another example of this omission occurs when Zinn describes the

Greek Influence On The Modern World

In modern terms this is converted into books, movies, theatre, television, plays, and they have become

disrupted by separation and divorce, families involved in interpersonal conflict, ineffective parent who

From research, one of the most controversial studies on child deviant behavior involved the parents

Essay On Tennis Courts
Types of Tennis Courts
1. Clay Courts
Clay courts are considered slow since a ball will bounce relatively higher and more slowly on a clay
court, thus making it much more difficult for a player to hit unreturnable shots. Clay courts are unique
in that the ball bounce leaves a mark on the surface, and this mark can be used to determine whether
or not the shot was in.
Type of Surface/Material
Clay courts are made from natural stone that is crushed into different levels. The finest level which is
in powder form is used for the upper most layers and loosely bound together with water.

Gender Roles In Persepolis
Women are often frowned upon in many societies. Although most do not, some societies make it
possible for women to be equal. When not equal, women are usually forced to do things beyond their
will. When women are free in a society and once the leader dies, who made them free, it will often
turn back to the way it was before that leader, leaving women unequal. Persepolis forced their women
into many things they didn t want to. Muhammad s vision of Islam is depicted different than
Persepolis on topics of gender equality.
After the empowerment of the Islamic Regime, the treatment of women turned tables in Iran. Before
the Regime, Iranian women were much like the average American woman during that time. They were
able to dress in modern clothes, associate with male counterparts, and have a role in society. But most
of this was drastically changed, especially the dress code. Around 1980, the women of Iran were
forced into the wearing of a veil. A veil is a piece of cloth used to cover the hair and part of the face.
Many women were against the veil and took to the streets to protest. After many protests, the women
were still forced to wear the veil. In the graphic novel Persepolis, Marji goes the store and bought

My Reading To Remember
Reading To Remember When I was a little kid growing up, my parents would read me books every
night sometimes multiple books at a time. Books that were read to me and the books I read when I was
in elementary school were and still are my favorite books. Reading is something that I enjoy if the
book covers the right topic, books like the Percy Jackson series, Magic Treehouse, the Stink series and
Bananas In Pyjamas. These stories remind me of a time when I had no responsibilities and no stress. I
wasn t the only one in my family who enjoyed children s books. My parents also found joy in reading
me books. A children s story that can only be enjoyed by children is not a good children s story in the
slightest. (Lewis) C.S. Lewis is a famous novelist who wrote numerous books over his lifetime. My
favorite childhood memories revolve around the stories that I was told. All throughout elementary
school teachers would constantly nonstop preach about how reading was important and how reading
was supposed to improve creativity and memory. Teachers would take time out of the school day to
read to us, while reading the book to the class, often the teacher would stop reading and ask us
questions about what we have read so far. On top of books being read to the class, we would have to
read books on our own. Reading didn t stop there multiple book projects each and every year on top of
all the reading already done in class. To say I was tired of reading was an understatement

Millennial Literacy Definition
As I start to compose my point of view about Millennial literacy, my computer stops working
unexpectedly and I resort to good ole paper and pencil. I was frustrated and a little annoyed because I
pictured myself typing my introduction on my laptop computer next to the fire in the student lounge
with a cup of coffee in my hand. I wanted that image to become a reality and felt more comfortable
using my laptop for academic writing. Paper and pencil was my last resort when I thought about
writing an essay. Also, with the new technology era, teachers have been required to grade assignments
electronically; therefore, students must turn in their papers electronically. As I continued to reflect on
my own literacy practices, I realized that I think ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since the start of a technology era, many newspapers and news television stations have been reporting
lower number of viewers. This is because younger generations are getting their news from a different
source. Social media sites provide Millennials with daily news. Many Millennials follow news sites on
Twitter and Facebook. News sites tweet and post articles, weather, and daily news. In an article
labeled How Millennials Get News , surveys were done to find out just how younger generations get
the news. Studies show that 69% of the Millennial generation get the news daily and 88% of
Millennials get the news from Facebook regularly (How Millennials, par. 9 11). Overall, the
Millennial generation does not always get the news directly from the newspaper or on television.
Instead, they get news through social media websites. The same study states how many Millennials
have some sort of device for them to be able to use social media: More than 90 percent of adults age

the years significantly. Since this generation is one of the first to grow up with all of this technology,
we can conclude that Millennials have adapted to the new technology era in the form of how they get

Tammy Nguyen Coach Keel English 1 5th 18 March 2016 Apathy What is the true meaning of
Apathy? Well, if one were to search the definition of apathy on google they would probably get
something like, lack of interest, enthusiasm, or concern. It is but it also isn t the definition of apathy.
The whole meaning behind apathy is more than just a lack of interest it s simply the explanation of
today s society. Apathy is when people have no sense of emotion towards anything, they don t care.
They absolutely have no motivation to do or think about anything. They have no goals that they want
to achieve because they have lost their sense in accomplishing things. Apathy has become one of the

This is by far the closest thing as to being apathetic. Procrastinating is a great example of being
apathetic because people don t care about what they need to do and they focus more on what they
want to do. Some blow off whatever they need to do until the last minute and others just don t do it at
all! They just hurt their selves when they procrastinate, because when people procrastinate they
usually get an over amount of stress just because they didn t do it earlier when they could have.
Procrastination is a huge sign that students like to wear and show their teachers how much they care.
That s the thing, if people don t show their teacher that they care then they will most likely not care
about students grade, but if they show that they do care their teacher will probably focus more on
helping their grade. Another example of apathy is in the election this year. America is full of apathetic
legalized voters and that s really not a good thing. They think it s a joke and that it s just hysterical.
But they re so full of themselves that they don t take the time to think about how their vote could
affect some people and even if they knew it would have a bad outcome for some, they don t care

When reading The Great Gatsby you may ask yourself what the theme might be but there really isn t a

Japan the first country in Asia, which was ruled by parliamentary politics. The Diet was the legislative

Lansoprazole
Introduction
The stomach naturally produces acid, which is mainly responsible for food digestion and destruction
of any foreign pathogen or bacteria ingested with food. Acid is secreted by stimulating the partial cells
located in the inner lining of the stomach to release acid in response to a stimulant of food ingested,
sight of food, smell, or taste. This acid secretion renders the stomach pH to be very low, this strong
acid is an irritant to the stomach. In protection of the stomach, a mucus layer is present to shield the
lining of the stomach from damage caused by the acid. When this protective mucus layer is damaged,
ulcers are formed and even to the point of perforation of stomach (hole that causes a bleed in the
stomach).

Comparison Of Pilgrims First And Puritans
There were many reasons why English colonists decided to cross the Atlantic. Some dreamed of
owning lands and of a life improvement, others were escaping from something that was troubling
them, and some were trying to institute a way of living based on the sacred scriptures. Pilgrims first
and Puritans after tried to establish a new and much more pure form of worship. Although this two
groups had the same desire to apply the protestant reformation to the new world, certainly they differ
in so many ways. First and foremost the terms and their meanings differ. In fact, while the term
pilgrim indicates the one who made a journey for religious purposes, the term puritan defines the one
that wants to reform and purify the church. In 1620, a group

The Three Movements Of The Spiritual Life
4MAT Review
Nouwen, H. J. M. (1975). Reaching out: The Three Movements of the Spiritual Life. New York, NY:
Doubleday.
Summary:
In Reaching Out, Henri Nouwen gives out a standard by which we are supposed to live in the Spirit of
Jesus Christ. He suggests that we need to reach out beyond the tension caused by our lonely, hostile,
illusive state. As our lives fluctuate between poles of stressful and successful existence, our souls are
tempted by boredom and yearning for true holiness. Having said that, Nouwen itches, move from the
pole of personal loneliness to an embrace of solitude, move from the pole of hostility to an exercise of
unselfish hospitality, and most crucially move from a pole of illusion to an intimacy with God through
prayer. Struggling with these polarities provides opportunity to construct a practical standard for the
spiritual life that incorporates the whole of human experience. Nouwen s threefold standard for the
spiritual life develops a practical approach to these polarities and provides a practical framework for a
discipline of discipleship. Henri s approach to holiness is born out of the recognition that each person
encounters a struggle to cope appropriately with unpleasant circumstances of life. He begins with the
universal life understanding of loneliness. Even in our busy, occupied domain, the feeling of relational
poverty irritates our souls. No possession, competition, or individual can offer a persistent
gratification of our sad

Brief Account Of The Life And Invention Of Lewis Frederick...
The aim of this report is to give a brief account of the life and invention of Lewis Frederick Urry. As
the subject of my report, a literature search was carried out to identify facts and relevant information.
Lewis Frederick Urry became a Chemical engineer in the 1950 and was the very first person to
fabricate alkaline batteries. In conclusion he made a significant contribution in the field
electrochemistry and battery technology in the 20th century.

Background and life of Lewis Urry
Lewis Fredrick Urry, was born in the village of Pontypool, Ontario, in Canada, on the 29th of January
in 1927. Son of Oman Urry and Ada Rowan Urry, he was one of five children, in fact, he had two
brothers and two sisters (NNDB, Tracking The Entire World, 2014). Christopher Reed (Reed, 2004)
mentions that in 1946, Lewis decided to join the Canadian army where he spent three years, and in the
1950 he graduated from the University of Toronto, with a Bachelor s degree in Chemical Engineering.
In the same year, Urry went to work as a manufacturer for a battery company called Eveready and in
1955 he was assigned to work in a laboratory in Cleveland, in USA, to extend the durability of the
zinc carbon batteries. Christopher Reed (Reed, 2004) also states that, he worked with several types of
battery and power cells and owned over 51 patents, including some for the rechargeable lithium
battery. He was married to a woman named Beverly Ann and he was father of three sons and two

Persuasive Speech About Fish
A child s first pet is a notable milestone of growing up. Some children get to adopt a dog or cat, others
a hamster or guinea pig, but one of the most common starter pets today is, of course, a fish. Fish are
seen as one of the easiest pets to own, and are good for those with little time or who want little
commitment to care. Unlike a time consuming and expensive puppy who will need toys, a bed, a
leash, food, vet care, house training, and more, all you need for a fish is a bowl, some water, and
food.. Right? Wrong.
Many of us have been through it. You go to a pet store and stare at the wall of rectangular tanks, all
packed full of different kinds of fish. You pick out a handful that catch your eye, maybe three or four
goldfish, and a tank that seems big enough for your new friends. After all, they grow to the size of the
tank anyway, right? You grab a small can of the flaky, not at all appetizing fish food, and maybe some
rocks and decorations for your new tank. You get everything home and your fish acquainted, only to
find that 3 weeks later they re all dead. It s a bummer, but not surprising, when has anyone ever said
goldfish have a long life expectancy anyway?
What many people do not know, though, is how wrong all of this is. Goldfish can live for up to 20
years, but they often die prematurely due to being kept in bowls or small tanks. It is recommended that
double tailed goldfish (the type suited for aquariums) still have 20 gallons of water for each fish. This

Strengths Of Strengths In Public Speaking
My first strength in public speaking is my organization and preparation skills. I think that I am
particularly skilled in creating and preparing a presentation that is straightforward and informational. I
know how to effectively organize my presentation in such a manner that will appeal to my audience.
In addition, I spend an ample amount of time preparing for my presentation. However, there is
definitely room for improvement. I need a bit more practice in trying to make my presentations more
concise. For example, I used to present to high school students on financial literacy. Initially my
presentations were too long, but as my presentations progressed they were shorter while still retaining
important information. I would like to hone this skill as much as I possibly can.
My next strength in public speaking is my eye contact. I am able to face my audience and express
positive nonverbal communication by maintaining eye contact and giving my audience my undivided
attention. Interestingly enough, I feel that sometimes my eye contact can be too excessive in the sense
that I look around too much. I was told of this by one of my friends while I did a presentation on the
civil rights movement. I can strive to improve this strength by learning how to hold eye contact longer
with certain individuals as opposed to constantly looking around. This may be a bit uncomfortable to
me, but I intend to challenge myself to attempt it.
Another strength is my voice projection. I believe that I

  • 2. William Blake Allusions In William Blake s Poem The Chimney Sweeper , Blake uses allusions, symbols, and metaphor to convey his theme of Innocence, Death, and Youth. With this Blake also goes in depth about the speakers childhood. Finally Blake ends with a dream and how innocence is a major part of the poem. Blake s foundation of this poem relies on biblical allusions which provide the poem with a theme of innocence and, without them, Blake may have just had an ordinary poem with no deeper meaning in it. Linkin states that The Angel s reported promise provides the first linguistic surprise in the poem... the Angel told Tom if he d be a good boy, / He d have God for his father never want joy (32 33). Youth takes over here as the little boy instead of being told ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Tom Dacre is very crucial to the poem and in an Overview of The Chimney Sweeper it mentions In the second stanza, the child identifies another young sweeper, Tom Dacre, who cried when his head was shaven (his curls are compared to the wool of a lamb s back) (1 2). This scene adds onto the theme of youth and innocence which is what most of the poem revolves around. So it is very clear that this is where the most noticeable metaphor in the poem is so far with Blake relating crying Tom Dacre to a lamb. As Blake does allusions he also connects it to metaphors because when he writes locked up in coffins of black (12), this can also be taken as a metaphor for the soot that the children are covered in after they clean chimneys. Then in further thought the coffins, which is relation to the theme of death and how the youthful chimney sweepers are trapped in cases before they are released as Blake cleverly writes an Angel who had a bright key, And he opened the coffins set them all free (13 14). The angel sets them free and they can finally get free and cleanse their souls, at least that is what Blake is going for when he writes And wash in a river and shine in the Sun. Then naked white, all their bags left behind, They rise upon clouds, and sport in the wind. (16 18) These lines contain two metaphors which are that they are cleansing their ... • 3. Word Choice and Tone in Bradstreet s The Author to Her Book After reading The Author to her Book, it helps to know about the author s background. Anne Bradstreet wrote this poem after she had received her recently published book. The problem was that she did not want her book published. In her eyes, it was unfinished and full of mistakes. In the poem, she treats the book as a child and uses a satirical tone. Her choice of words and tone are very important to the theme of the poem. Some readers, mainly logical, would think that the author is simply talking about a child. The truth is that she is talking about her recently finished book. Bradstreet shows a mixture of emotions toward what just happened. The poem starts by speaking of a child. An ill formed (1) child is mentioned. This indicates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She also expresses a tone of slight fear. She is afraid that others will judge the book because of all the errors in it rather than focusing on the content of the book. At thy return my blushing was not small, / My rambling brat (in print) should mother call. (7 8) These two lines show her embarrassment of the book. She was obviously not ready for the book to be expressed to the public, and she was mortified at the amount of mistakes she had made. She was ashamed to call it her book, and symbolized it as a brat (8) in her poem. She sees it as an ill disciplined child for leaving her sight. Yet being mine own, at length affection would / Thy blemishes amend, if so I could: / I washed thy face, but more defects I saw, / And rubbing off a spot, still made a flaw. (11 14) Bradstreet sees her book as a child that only a mother could love. She wanted to revise the book, but while she was reading the published copy, in her mind making changes, she only came across more problems. She would change one thing that would, in turn, make another thing wrong. She uses a loving yet critical tone for her book in this part of the poem. She does love her book, but, as aforementioned, she was not ready to publish it. But nought save homespun cloth in the house I find. (18) Bradstreet continually notices things that she would have done differently, if given the chance. This line shows a tone of sadness and regret once again. She wanted to ... • 9. The Pros And Cons Of Tragedy Donation Introduction A charitable donation refers to a gift made by an organization or an individual to a private foundation, charity or non profit organization. The U.S has allowed deduction on income tax to individual and corporate donors for their charitable donations since 1917 (Colinvaux Dale, 2015). Often, these donations represent the main source of funding for most of the nonprofit and charitable organizations. In most countries, a charitable donation made to any of the qualifying organization entitles one to an income tax deduction. Organizations that do not qualify as charitable are considered for profit and are taxed accordingly to that effect. The Charitable Contributions Deduction entitles taxpayers to a tax deduction for the financial year in which they made their donations. The aim of this essay is to compare between the taxation of donations made to a charitable organization by a corporation and that made by an individual. Comparison of charitable contributions by a corporation versus and individual Individual shareholders in a private company should compare whether they will realize higher tax benefits by personally donating to charitable organizations or by donating through their corporation. A corporation qualifies for similar charitable deductions that apply to individuals (Bank, 2017). The general rule for allowance of deduction for individual and corporate charitable donations is that any charitable donation (as defined in U.S Code (U.S.C) section 170 ... Merit Based Pay Edmond Holmes, Great Britain s chief academic inspector, defined education in the era of merit based pay as the teacher involved in laying thin films of information on the surface of the child s mind, and then, after a brief interval, in skimming these off in order to satisfy himself that they have been duly laid (Nelson, 2001). Holmes referred to this type of recall as being the equivalent of food which its recipient has not been allowed to digest . In 1918, 48 percent of U.S. public school districts described their payment systems as merit based. But merit was subjective: White men were paid more than minorities and women, a disparity that eventually fueled a movement toward a uniform pay scale. Two years after women won the vote, the first uniform pay plans appeared in Denver, Colorado, and Des Moines, Iowa. By the 1950s, only 4 percent of U.S. school districts described themselves as merit based (Murnane Cohen, 1986; Protsik, 1996). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He has written many well known books, including A People s History of the United States and A People s History of American Empire. The reason that these books are so well known is because Zinn is a very special kind of historian. Unlike other historians who might be more objective about history and just give you the straight facts, Zinn is openly partial in his account of history giving readers a more subjective view of these events. We deserve to know facts and nothing but facts, and use these facts to develop our own opinions on the facts presented to us. By Zinn taking a partial point of view, the omission of exculpatory evidence about events in history is utilized to persuade the reader into falling under the same opinion about an issue as he does (Stanford.edu, David Plotnikoff). By doing this, Zinn s credibility is being flaunted as he might leave out information that could completely change the opinion of the reader. However, it would be completely impractical to have a very large book with all of history written upon thousands of pages, but it is obvious that Zinn left out some key facts. For example, Zinn describes the indigenous people of North America to be unbelievably pleasant. He constantly makes remarks about how unbelievably welcoming they were to Columbus and how they simply survived blissfully without the need commerce instead just sharing what they owned (Zinn, People s History, Page 1). While this may be somewhat true, he never came close to discussing the amount of bloodshed between some indigenous tribes like the Iroquois and the savages that was described in the writing of Champlain in which rival tribes would battle in close quarters combat. Combat that caused many fatalities among both tribes (Champlain). Although this does not change the fact that Columbus murdered many people in his conquests and that the Spaniards acted upon them like wolves, tigers and lions which had been starving for many days, it still may change the opinion of many about the indigenous population as a whole (La Casa). But they re so full of themselves that they don t take the time to think about how their vote could affect some people and even if they knew it would have a bad outcome for some, they don t care enough to stop what they re doing and actually think about ... Some people think that the theme is that the cause of things may cause other things kind of like a chain reaction but I don t really agree nor disagree. I think that the actual theme for The Great Gatsby is that the desire for things may force people to change. Now at first it doesn t really make sense but as soon as you read the book and really think about it makes sense. I have two main characters that I think fit the theme. The first character that I think fits the theme is of course Jay Gatsby. Although this just happened once I think Tom fits the theme because more than once he wanted to find out if Daisy was cheating and he would get mad and wanted her to stop even though he himself cheated on Daisy with Myrtle. At the end of the book after Gatsby s death Tom said to Nick that he thought Gatsby deserved to die and on page 179 this is what Nick thought They were careless people, Tom and Daisy they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness, or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made. • 33. Lansoprazole Introduction The stomach naturally produces acid, which is mainly responsible for food digestion and destruction of any foreign pathogen or bacteria ingested with food. Acid is secreted by stimulating the partial cells located in the inner lining of the stomach to release acid in response to a stimulant of food ingested, sight of food, smell, or taste. This acid secretion renders the stomach pH to be very low, this strong acid is an irritant to the stomach. In protection of the stomach, a mucus layer is present to shield the lining of the stomach from damage caused by the acid. When this protective mucus layer is damaged, ulcers are formed and even to the point of perforation of stomach (hole that causes a bleed in the stomach). This damage ... • 37. The Three Movements Of The Spiritual Life 4MAT Review Nouwen, H. J. M. (1975). Reaching out: The Three Movements of the Spiritual Life. New York, NY: Doubleday. Summary: In Reaching Out, Henri Nouwen gives out a standard by which we are supposed to live in the Spirit of Jesus Christ. He suggests that we need to reach out beyond the tension caused by our lonely, hostile, illusive state. As our lives fluctuate between poles of stressful and successful existence, our souls are tempted by boredom and yearning for true holiness. Having said that, Nouwen itches, move from the pole of personal loneliness to an embrace of solitude, move from the pole of hostility to an exercise of unselfish hospitality, and most crucially move from a pole of illusion to an intimacy with God through prayer. Struggling with these polarities provides opportunity to construct a practical standard for the spiritual life that incorporates the whole of human experience. Nouwen s threefold standard for the spiritual life develops a practical approach to these polarities and provides a practical framework for a discipline of discipleship. Henri s approach to holiness is born out of the recognition that each person encounters a struggle to cope appropriately with unpleasant circumstances of life. He begins with the universal life understanding of loneliness. Even in our busy, occupied domain, the feeling of relational poverty irritates our souls. No possession, competition, or individual can offer a persistent gratification of our sad ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 39. Persuasive Speech About Fish A child s first pet is a notable milestone of growing up. Some children get to adopt a dog or cat, others a hamster or guinea pig, but one of the most common starter pets today is, of course, a fish. Fish are seen as one of the easiest pets to own, and are good for those with little time or who want little commitment to care. Unlike a time consuming and expensive puppy who will need toys, a bed, a leash, food, vet care, house training, and more, all you need for a fish is a bowl, some water, and food.. Right? Wrong. Many of us have been through it. You go to a pet store and stare at the wall of rectangular tanks, all packed full of different kinds of fish. You pick out a handful that catch your eye, maybe three or four goldfish, and a tank that seems big enough for your new friends. After all, they grow to the size of the tank anyway, right? You grab a small can of the flaky, not at all appetizing fish food, and maybe some rocks and decorations for your new tank. You get everything home and your fish acquainted, only to find that 3 weeks later they re all dead. It s a bummer, but not surprising, when has anyone ever said goldfish have a long life expectancy anyway? What many people do not know, though, is how wrong all of this is. Goldfish can live for up to 20 years, but they often die prematurely due to being kept in bowls or small tanks. It is recommended that double tailed goldfish (the type suited for aquariums) still have 20 gallons of water for each fish. This is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. Strengths Of Strengths In Public Speaking My first strength in public speaking is my organization and preparation skills. I think that I am particularly skilled in creating and preparing a presentation that is straightforward and informational. I know how to effectively organize my presentation in such a manner that will appeal to my audience. In addition, I spend an ample amount of time preparing for my presentation. However, there is definitely room for improvement. I need a bit more practice in trying to make my presentations more concise. For example, I used to present to high school students on financial literacy. Initially my presentations were too long, but as my presentations progressed they were shorter while still retaining important information. I would like to hone this skill as much as I possibly can. My next strength in public speaking is my eye contact. I am able to face my audience and express positive nonverbal communication by maintaining eye contact and giving my audience my undivided attention. Interestingly enough, I feel that sometimes my eye contact can be too excessive in the sense that I look around too much. I was told of this by one of my friends while I did a presentation on the civil rights movement. I can strive to improve this strength by learning how to hold eye contact longer with certain individuals as opposed to constantly looking around. This may be a bit uncomfortable to me, but I intend to challenge myself to attempt it. Another strength is my voice projection. I believe that I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
