Government Regulation of the Microsoft Corporation Essay...
Government Regulation of the Microsoft Corporation
Does the government have the right to regulate large corporations, namely the Microsoft Corporation?
If so, then to what extent can the government do so? Based on our research, it is the government s
responsibility to remedy Microsoft s noncompetitive behavior in order to increase fair competition.
The Microsoft vs. the Government trial has many possible outcomes, which may affect a specific
party. Not only does the outcome affect the Microsoft Corporation, but it also affects the rival
companies and the consumer. Though not as eminent, the outcomes may also affect the future
decisions against any other companies, possibly committing the same violations as Microsoft.

Microsoft s share of the market for Intel compatible PC operating systems is extremely large and

The barrier of entry would prevent an aspiring entrant into the relevant market from drawing a
significant number of customers away from a dominant incumbent even if the incumbent priced its
products substantially above competitive levels for a significant period of time ( Microsoft: Court s

Norman, The Conqueror And The Norman Army
Norman success in late 11th century England
The tactics used by William the Conqueror and the Norman army, militarily, administratively, and
culturally, impacted their success in imposing their power within the English kingdom. These tactics
worked in tandem, increasing the success of each of their objectives. The military force used by the
Normans was useful in gaining and later maintaining territories for the crown, the administration
allowed William the Conqueror s reign to act in a more effective manner under him in the early days
of his rule, and the cultural and religious structures allowed the Normans to integrate the already
closely tied Norman and English societies.
Arguably the most important factor in the exertion of power over the English was the ability by the
Normans to act militarily. The warlike attitude of the Normans, combined with the religious aspects
that will be discussed later, provided them with a ready and capable army with which to support
William s claim to the throne. The early years of William s rule, after the 1066 defeat of Harold,
emerged as a sort of military occupation within England by the Normans. These years were crucial in
the Norman advance within England. When William came to England he arrived with a large support
of military men and much of these supporting military men remained in England because of their
military duties. This army aided William not only in the initial battle against Harold, but later as well,

An Interview On Child Welfare
As a helping professional focused on child welfare, educational resources are essential to provide
children with adequate support. Often times, the children s advocates, caregivers and volunteers, need
assistance connecting with the school to secure social work services. There have been countless
occurrences where the child is faltering academically and the school is unaware that they are in foster
care. The teachers are overworked and unable to identity which children are in the greatest need
because there are many who struggle. Linking the advocates with social workers will help increase the
likelihood of the children s success. Increasing the awareness of the children s advocates, informing
them of the available resources, enhances their support system. An interview was conducted with a
social worker for several public schools to increase awareness of the free services offered to families
and children within the district. An interview was conducted with Ashley Fortune MSW, a school
social worker for several schools within Gilbert Public School District. Ashley Fortune received her
Bachelors in Social Work from Arizona State University, subsequently receiving her Masters in Social
Work. Throughout the duration of Mrs. Fortune s professional career, she explored various roles
within the field of social work. Post completion of her Bachelors, she worked in residential center for
people with disabilities. She provided direct care services and assisted clients with

Apathy To Empathy
Moving from Apathy to Empathy
Apathy in general, is defined as: indifference, lack of interest, or concern for others. More specifically,
the dis ability to identify with others or feel their pain is the primary nature of those who are strong on
apathy.
Empathy, in contrast, is defined as having compassion and sympathy towards others to the extent of
being able to relate with them and their pains. Empathy is, also the ability to understand or feel what
the other person is experiencing or going through. It is the ability to step into the shoes of another
person, with the aim to understand their feelings and perspectives, and then to use that understanding
to guide our actions. That differentiates it from kindness or pity. Additionally, empathy ... Show more

We all usually have assumptions about others. That prevents us from appreciating their individuality.
We need to shelve our assumptions and accept the differences.
Thirdly, we can expand our empathy by gaining direct experience of other people s lives, putting into
practice the proverb: Walk a mile in another man s shoes, before you criticise him .
There are two more traits required for being an empathic person. One of them is, to master the art of
listening. It is essential, that we have the ability to listen to what is really going on within the other
person, and to the unique feelings and needs the other person is experiencing in that very moment. An
empathic person will listen hard to others and do all he can to grasp their emotional state and needs.
When it comes to listening, it is quite important to look and grasp even the non verbal cues that will
enable us to truly understand other person s emotional state of mind. It indirectly initiates an
introspection to question our own thoughts, beliefs and actions. This will enable us to take steps
towards building better

Ethics And Social Psychology Research
Ethics are a fundamentally crucial topic in social psychology research. Ethics encompass essential
guidelines and codes of conduct that is taken into consideration before carrying out research. Although
undergraduate and graduate curriculum in psychology acquaints students with the basic nature of
ethical considerations and codes of conduct in research, however, it is likely that some of the most
famous experiments in social psychology such as experiment by Stanley Milgram on Behavioral
Study of Obedience exemplify ethical misconduct. However, with the publishing of the first American
Psychological Association Code of Ethics (APA, 2010), controversial and unethical experiments such
as the Stanley Milgram Obedience Experiment have been scrutinized. Also, the appropriate regulatory
body such as APA for psychological experiment provides guidelines and enforce appropriate ways of
conducting research and practicing the different aspects of the psychological profession in retrospect
to ethics.
However, psychological research remain predispose to controversial experimental techniques and
designs due to the manner in which the research questions are formulated ( ). Hence, in forming a
research question and recruiting human subject, it is critical that I abide by the set of mandatory codes
of conduct of either those of my university board or, later in my career, those of the APA I belong to in
my professional obligation. According to APA (2010), mandatory Ethical standards exists

Most nonprofit agencies follow the same management structure. The structure normally consists of a
vertical hierarchal structure with the chief executive manager at the helm, and divisional leaders
rounding out the strategic leadership team. Since 9/11, then government shutdowns, multiple wars,
natural disasters, and the government sequester, the challenge to most nonprofits is to compete for
every available charitable dollar. Chief Executive Officers (CEO) of nonprofits must not only be
skillful in maximizing the outcomes with fewer dollars, but also politically savvy in vying for monies

One identified contributor to women s slower than expected assent into leadership is the persistence of
assumptions and stereotypes that women are intrinsically communal or dependent and passive , and
therefore, lack the capacity to succeed as leaders. (National Academy of Sciences National Academy

particular subset of African American women in particular. Quantitative analysis will be used to
ascertain and organize data to offer empirical evidence that supports the claims of low representation
of African American women in Philadelphia leadership roles; however, this qualitative study will
delve into the causality of this phenomenon, and this qualitative study may offer new insights into the
involvement, and articulation of business strategies surrounding recruitment and retention of, African
American women in levels of leadership within the Commonwealth. And while this topic may cause
discomfort to both the researcher and the interviewees, discomfort is an important, even desirable
component of qualitative research. Being uncomfortable makes us more aware and alert, stretches our

How Charles Dickens’ Life Influenced Oliver Twist Essays
How Charles Dickens Life Influenced Oliver Twist
The range of his creative activity is, in the first place, limited to the world of his youth (Cecil 169).
This quote explains many people. What has previously happened to a person has a tremendous impact
on them. It can affect their decisions, emotions, and life. The life of a person can sometimes be seen
quite easily through what they do. Artists often reveal what their life has been like through the works
that they create. The same can be said about writers. Events in authors past often show up in his
works. The above quote is, in fact, made in regard to Charles Dickens.
Dickens had several real life experiences of poverty and abandonment in his life that influenced his

Eventually, they saved him from the factory. Charles grew up and put himself through the education
he could manage to find. He got a job as a lawyer s apprentice, and then he worked as a parliamentary
reporter. Dickens began to do some freelance writings for several magazines. He eventually became
the editor of a magazine and an author of his own novels.
Throughout Dickens journey through life, the poor laws of Great Britain were closely intertwined. The
first major impact that his childhood experiences had on him was his exposure to the factory system.
The Industrial Revolution created large urban areas with a central factory that employed most of the
area s people. The factory was full of lower class people in unsanitary conditions. In the days of
Dickens factory experience the old poor laws were in effect. This helped Dickens situation greatly. His
father lived in a fairly nice and sanitary prison, and was given time to find the money he owed. The
old poor law system of giving aid to the poor helped to save the Dickens family. When Dickens grew
up and was a parliamentary reporter, the new poor laws were about to be passed. Dickens realized that
the new poor laws would bring doom to many families. The new poor laws did not help the poor but
worsened their condition in order to drive them to work.

General George S. Patton Jr.
As a leader and Soldier in the United States Army, I have looked for individuals that set a benchmark
to strive towards. Individuals that lead Soldiers, develop solid plans, and achieve those plans no matter
the difficulty. For me, General George S. Patton Jr. is one such individual. He exemplified many
defining characteristics of what it means to be a true leader of influence through his character,
presence, and intellect. His discipline and unparalleled expertise in his field as a tank commander were
crucial to the successes of the United States during multiple military campaigns. Although he was
known to be brash and flamboyant at times, I believe that this served to further his presence and

wounding and capturing three personally. This was an early display of his lead from the front
mentality, show of character, and his swift actions leading to success. Traits that would characterize
him throughout his career.
World War I was a formative time for Patton, as he took an interest in tanks while filling various
postings and awaiting command of an infantry company by General Pershing. Using his growing
influence and swift promotions, Patton was able to take command of the 304th Tank BDE in 1918,
now as a Major. During the battle of Saint Mihiel, Patton rode atop and walked in front of his tanks in
order to inspire his men by instilling esprit de corps and the will to fight. While during the Meuse
Argonne offensive as part of the US I Corps, he was wounded. Despite being shot through the leg he
continued to command troops and tanks on the ground before finally being evacuated. He ensured that
he delivered his report to the command post before finally agreeing to go to the hospital. For his
efforts he was promoted to Colonel and awarded the Distinguished Service Medal and Purple Heart.
Patton s actions during World War II were the apex of his career. During the North Africa Campaign,
Patton took command of the US II Corps, after a crushing defeat to the German Afrika Korps as
Kasserine Pass. He introduced changes such as ordering

Bucky Cantor s Heroic Struggle In Nemesis By Philip Roth
In the novel Nemesis, by Philip Roth, the central character, Bucky Cantor, has a personal desire for
some heroic challenge. This desire originated from his upbringing from his maternal grandparents
after his mother died giving birth and after his father left Bucky at an early age. His grandfather in
particular raised the young Bucky Cantor to embody and espouse the masculine virtues. These virtues
included bravery, accepting responsibility, and making the best out of what is provided. With the life
lessons of his grandfather, Bucky was able to grow up, in spite of severely poor vision and lack of
immediate parents, to become a young man of excellent physical prowess and mental fortitude. One
roadblock Bucky overcame was when he was barred entry into the military, preventing him from
fighting with his close friends and for a chance at challenging gallantry. True to his grandfather s
lessons during childhood, he made do with his circumstances and fought another conflict of a different
nature.
During most of the novel, Bucky Cantor was employed as a teacher and playground director of a local
school in a closely knit, family oriented Jewish community of Weequahic neighborhood in Newark,
New Jersey. While he worked in 1944 near the summer, a polio outbreak had ... Show more content on

George Orwell s Animal Farm Essay
Karl Marx, writer of Communist Manifesto, is represented as an old, wise pig in George Orwell s
Animal Farm. Because Orwell is a democratic socialist and does not accept the ideologies of
Marxism, he reveals the reality of communism and reflects his opinions through sardonic situations
that occur among animals. The state of communism that Marx and Friedrich Engels describe is where
the state is abolished, people live in a society where members work together in agreement and no one
is exploited, and every member shares the rewards of hard work. The envisions of Marx greatly
contrasted with the plot of Animal Farm. Old Major, a pig, had a dream that mirrored Marx and his
dream of communism. This dream is ironic because it suggests that communism is only a dream. The
Soviet Union s policies were seen as steps to reach communism, rather than the end result of
communism, in which all animals of the farm endured. The characters in animal farm had to pass
through this in between stage before becoming a complete communist society, and in reality they
remained in this stage and believed they were close to their goal.
The animals, who were the laborers, fulfilled Old Major s wish and overthrew the capitalistic men
with a revolution, much like how Marx and Engels hoped for the day the Proletarians would
overthrow the Bourgeois, the owners of private property. He focused on arousing the animals
emotionally and didn t mention any practical reasons to help solve their issues. However,

Man Bun Hairtyle Analysis
What is a man bun hairstyle?
The man bun isn t just a mens hairstyle that popped up casually in 2014, which is what most guys
believe since these days about 98% of hipsters wear a manbun. Plenty of long haired men over the
years have styled their hair into a manbun, and this hairstyle was simply called a bun ; just like women
too call the hairstyle a bun . How do I know this? Because I have had long hair for many years, and
the hairstyle name of a man bun is something that doesn t resonate with any long haired dude who had
been growing his long tresses prior to 2011.
The term man bun , however, refers to the particular placing of a bun on a male s head as a trendy
hairstyle, for which this guide is all about. The man bun is also known ... Show more content on

The full bun uses all the hair on the head to make the bun; thus, when styling your manbun, you will
be grabbing all the hair on your head (sides and back included) and be trying it all into a single bun.
A male model with man bun and beard styleBecause the full manbun requires all the hair on the head
to be used, you do need more hair length for it. You will need at least 9 inches of hair length for the
(full) man bun, although I d err on the side of caution and shoot for 10 inches of hair length for your
manbun (I always recommend ten inches of hair length for the man bun too). You want to have
enough hair length on your head so as to not have to pull really hard to get the bun tied, so always be
conservative when growing your man bun length.

Ideally the best hair length for the man bun is between 12 to 16 inches of hair length. Such a hair

Reviewing The Crash Of 1929 Essay
Reviewing the Crash of 1929
There have been many terrifying crashes in the stock market, the most recent being the crash in 2007
2008, however, nothing compares to the devastation of 1929. It remains the worst stock market crash
in history. It wiped a generation of investors away from the stock market.
Most of us know that 1929 was bad, but in this article, let s get down to the facts and numbers and
know how bad it really was.
Before we look at any other aspect, let s first see the extent of damage that was done during the crash
of 1929.
The important numbers in the 1929 crash The Dow Jones average peaked on September 3, 1929, at
381.17 points. The crash started with a 13% fall on Black Monday, October 28, 1929, and continued
the next day on Black Tuesday, when the index tanked another 12%.
With intermittent rallies, the Dow continued to fall and had lost almost half its value by mid
November. Though the markets saw strong intermittent bear market rallies, the Dow hit its lowest
value of the 20th century on July 8, 1932, when the index closed at 41.22. That is a whopping 89.18%
fall in just under three years.
It took the markets another 25 years to cross the peak closing of September 3, 1929, which it did on
November 12, 1954.

recovery. The twenties saw great advances in industries, technology, construction, movies and almost

Black Communities During The 1960 s
During the 1960 s, there were important events, actions, and organizations that changed the black

During that time period, the black community s were able to vote (Voting Rights of 1965) and the

Panther Party was original called, The Black Panther Party for Self Defense ; they implemented
Malcolm X philosophy of self defense because during the time The Black Panthers were created there
were high rates of police brutality towards the black community, which meant that Black people were
being killed at random with no reason. Before The Black Panther Party had a name, Newton and Seale
created the Ten Point Program, which explained what they wanted, and what they believed in. Newton
and Seale both knew that they could not present their Ten Point Program without a name and they
came up with the Black Panther Party (B.P.P). The Ten Point Program consists of ten points which are
Freedom, Full employment, an end of robbery by the white man of the black community, decent

Abstract This Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANETs) consists of of a set of nodes linked by wi fi

Mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs). The Network is ad hoc because it does not depend on pre

process due to powerful topology and mistake vulnerable shared atmosphere. Data is sent between

In this case the father loses Beauty not out of love but out of his own weakness of addiction gambling.
As she strips away the petals of the flower, it symbolizes her stripping away the outer layers of

and foreshadows the metamorphosis at the story s end. The Beast has a mask like face like the
Marquis. Beauty explained the mask to be too perfect for human nature and could barely fit the Beast
face. Poor relationship with her father, the heroine here has more pride and anger than Beauty. Like
the other female protagonists, this heroine is initially treated as an object to be manipulated and
gambled away. The Beast in this version is associated with a tiger, a reminder of the heroine s mother
in The Bloody Chamber. He also lives on a threshold between the worlds of wild animals and humans.
The heroine s longing for the wild innocence of horses prefigures her later transformation. The symbol
of the rose begins to grow more complex here. It is not just a symbol of the heroine s purity and
virginity, as it also has thorns showing the pain of her objectification, but also her own fierceness and
pride. The Erl King will return in a later story as another metamorphic figure who controls the wind
and captures young women. Carter muses on the nature of her beasts, how there is a horror in living
life on the threshold, but also that there is a kind of beastliness that is internal as well as external. This
is another picture of decaying luxury, but the state of The Beast s mansion implies that he has let his
wild animal nature take over, and he has little care for keeping up the appearances of a nobleman.
Carter never fully describes her beasts, allowing them to inhabit a fantastic world where a tiger could

There are different people in different locations with different living situations in the world. Everyone

poverty is explored. Ehrenreich wrote this book based on her curiosity of how uneducated people with

The Legalization Of Marijuana And Marijuana Essay
Marijuana or Cannabis is one of the bused drugs in America and the rest of the world. Interesting
accumulating evidence show that the significant negative impact of this drug outweighs the positive

of the persons abusing this drug. There have been traditional efforts to control the use of marijuana

Analysis Of The Lamb By William Blake
Introduction/Thesis Just like the lamb that was born into this world through a virgin and was
sacrificed for all mankind, this same lamb made us and called us by his name. In his poem The Lamb,
William Blake clearly uses repetition, personification, and symbolism to describe his religious beliefs
and how a pure sacrifice is portrayed by a little lamb. Laura Quinney s book, William Blake on Self
and Soul, shows the religious side of Blake when it says, Blake makes this argument in his address To
the Deists, where he insists Man must will have Some Religion; if he has not the Religion of Jesus, he
will have the Religion of Satan (Quinney, 2009). Blake uses his religious view to show us he believes
that our creator is the Lamb of God. He distinctively uses the innocence and purity of a little lamb and
how its creator clearly takes care of it. The lamb is fed, given water by the stream and a bidden a
blessed life.
Repetition
To begin with, Blake s use of repetition intensifies the significance of our creator and all he has done
for us, as well as the sacrificial giving of life, food, and clothing as would a parent sacrificing for a
little child. Blake s reoccurrence of the questions, Little Lamb who made thee? and Dost thou know
who made thee? shows the importance of creation of the little lamb. He answers the questions
repetitiously by saying, Little Lamb I ll tell thee, Little Lamb I ll tell thee! (Blake, 1988). The answer

Marijuana has been proven to lower IOP but only for a short period of time and at considerable risk to
your overall health (Turbert). When smoking marijuana the active ingredient THC in some way has
been proven to lower eye pressure levels. In 4 hours, the pressure lowering effect of marijuana is gone.
To maintain continuous control of IOP, avoiding unhealthy peaks and valleys, it would be necessary to
smoke a joint about every 1 to 2 hours. That s several thousand cigarettes a year (Scerra). Even though
it may seem like a good idea to help lower the pressure in an eye it may not be the most effective way
in treating glaucoma. Since glaucoma needs to be treated around the clock you would need to smoke
marijuana six to eight times a day around the clock to receive the benefit of a consistently lowered
IOP (Kern). Since, this drug has altering affects to the body it may not be the most appropriate of

Banking System Stability Is Largely Built On A Number Of...
Banking system stability is mostly built on a number of internal and external characteristics.
Wheelock and Wilson (2002) used a rating methodology called CAMEL, shorten from several
variables include Capital adequacy, Asset quality, Management quality, Earning, Liquidity, to analyze
the probability of bank failures. Their study documented that smaller banks and well capitalized banks
can obtain a higher degree of capacity to maintain stability individually, and comparing to universal
banks, they contribute more to the stability of a nation s banking system. Those variables reflect the
internal environment for operations of an individual bank and may be varied while banks choose to

Over the period of 1996 2005, accounting data based researches showed that the universal banks can
only increase the volatility of accounting profits by diversifying non interest income and have no
effect on raising their average profits. For American banks, there may be some benefits by introducing
new business differing from traditional interest income based derivatives, the profits are offset by the
increasing exposure to the systemic risk that institutions may suffer. The similar result raised in Stiroh
s (2006) research in American equity market during 1996 2005. He concluded that, on the one hand,
there is no apparent link between non interest income exposure and average profits. On the other hand,
the diversification of non interest income has a strong and positive correlation with the volatility of
equity return.
Banks in European shared the similar phenomenon in which banks with non interest business present a
lower level of risk management capability than those who mainly focused on traditional interest
income activities. Recent findings state that compare to trading activities, bank s conglomerate risk is
mainly positively correlated with the scale of non interest income (Lepetit 2008). Those studies dig
deeply into European equity market to reach the relationship between market based measures of the
risk trade off and the effect of income diversification. They concluded that in the long run, universal
banks with a higher proportion of non interest

Introduction: The acceleration toward the center that keeps objects in uniform circular motion
(circular motion at a constant speed) is called centripetal acceleration. An understanding of centripetal
acceleration was one of the key elements that led to Newton s formulation of the law of universal
gravitation.
Question: How is centripetal acceleration related to radius, mass, and velocity?

The Computer Science Of Robots
I have had a deep interest in hands on actives since I was a young boy. Through the Computer science
class last year I was introduced to coding. This year all of my loves found a single form, this form is
called Robotics. Robotics is the science of robots, you create robots, then program them what to do.
This helps the world by making new house hold robots that could do your laundry, or do your dishes,
the possibilities are endless. Household inventions are not the only things that robotics help, DARPA
(Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) hosts annual competitions that show case the new and
most useful military robots. These robots can open doors and complete complicated tasks in a short
period of time. Robots come in different shapes and sizes, I will be the one that is engineering the
newest and best robots in the future, but first I must know WHAT MATH IS IN MY CAREER. Most
Robotics engineers have fair amounts of money and live comfortably. The hourly rates for robotics
engineers range from $24.72 to $70.76. Depending on how many hours one works, they make
between $51,410 to $147,190 a year. The wages also vary between field and practices, the fields
include; Industrial, Domestic/household, Service, Military, Entertainment, Space, and
Hobby/competitions. All of these fields have different levels of pay and different tasks and schooling
required. If I want to live around Tahoe city the average living prices are a lot steeper then other

The Importance of Performing Close Out Activities Before...
The importance of performing close out activities before closing the project and the business risks
associated with skipping these activities
John Constance
MSc in Project Management, University of Liverpool
Week 5 Discussion Question
Abstract Most projects are initiated, planned, executed and monitored and controlled with the full
cognizant of executives and clients. However, once the project has been considered an overall success,
a part from preparing and conducting opening event with ribbon cutting and extensive speeches, little
attention is paid to formal close out documentation. This often leads to incomplete information for use

Conclusion
The risk of skipping planned project activities as listed by Robert Wysocki (2009, pp.283 288) is a big
threat for the likelihood of future problems. This is the case with 2 projects in South Sudan. The first
had close out problems because client condition of satisfaction for deliverables was not documented at
the start of the project, nor was it tracked, updated, discussed and agreed. During close out, senior
management from the client and contractor blamed each other for not having a plan making close out
a war of words to be settled by an Arbitrator. Also, another project, although with a documented close
out plan that was reviewed and updated on a monthly basis, did not include an agreement as to who
would be the receptor of project asset. This brought chaos during closure when government claimed
all assets should be turn over to them and the donor refused, simply because there was no indication of
this in the close out document. If close out activities are not performed before closing the project the
risks are very highly likely to have more threats than opportunities.

A Word Wall For Scientific Vocabulary
Science Class: A word wall for scientific vocabulary can be created for courses like Chemistry,
Physical Science, Earth Science, and Physics core classes. For example, in chemistry a word wall for
physical changes, chemical change, and periodic table vocabulary can be constructed by the students.
For Physics, words like speed, velocity, kinetic energy, and potential energy can be posted on the wall
for a lesson on forces and motion to help facilitate the acquisition of academic terminology for ELL
learners in the field of science. Also concepts that are opposite to each other like strong/weak,
long/short. Hot/cold, soft/hard, ect. allows students to develop critical thinking skills required for
comparing and contract analysis. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
History Class: Pictures or actual replicas can fortify a timeline for a given period of history. For
example, scrutinize a photograph or an actual items from a specific place or time will bring meaning
to the ELL learner. If a video or movie rendition is presented and then a snap shot from the video is
affixed to the timeline then the students is to make multiple visual relationship between the video, the
picture, and the time in history.
English Class: A slideshow or power point presentation can create a visual representation for teaching
about similarities and differences between adjectives used to describe people. Or showing pictures of
characters in a novel will help the students put an image to a written discretion that may not have been
able to create with word only. This can also be used for other aspect within a novel like a setting, plot,
themes, and symbols to meet the language objectives and the core content objectives.
Small Group Discussion
English Class: In a small groups setting, students will be given a stack of text card which have true or
false statements on them or I agree/disagree statements. As a group they need to decide if the state if
true or they agree with the statement or false or they disagree with the statement. This decision must

WOMEN AND THE MEDIA S PORTRAYAL OF US
When you think of women in the media you think of, well........ There so much to assume. And I aunt
jump to conclusions here s why. The media can be a survey of control, but not for women. The media
uses what seeks the most. The media will work whatever suits it s ratings and viewers. Now is this
wrong it depends...does it. When you think of becoming something amazing when you grow up, as a

objectification within fashion is so huge. Young teens can purchase items that mage them look out of
age and own for sexual misconduct. When you realize that it doesn t have to be about tight, revealing,
clothing becomes sometimes boring and unbought. Going on to various topics within this essay,
because there s so much women go through within the media, it s outraged. Say for instance if you re

Critical Analysis Of The Yellow Wallpaper
With the establishment of a distinctive American culture, writers began rejecting traditional literary
techniques and found a platform in which they could embrace literary techniques that would allow for
more realistic, unconventional writing. This switch in literary writing is known as the realism
movement. Realism is characterized by embracing aspects of the average American s life and society
which allows for the average American to relate and connect with the writing. Through realistic
writing, writers were able to address controversial social issues of the time period. One of these
writers was Charlotte Perkins Gilman. Her work, The Yellow Wallpaper , addresses the reality of
gender status and roles and the treatment of psychological ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In result, Gilman is able to expose the mistreatment present, specifically the rest cure treatment used
by her doctor, Weir Mitchell, that has been explained as the male medical society s way to adjust
women to a domestic life and align them within the societal gender roles (Blackie 59).
The setting in The Yellow Wallpaper plays a critical role in understanding the story, specifically in the
progression of the main character s psychological illness. At the beginning of the story, the narrator
describes her room as such:
It is a big, airy room, the whole floor nearly, with windows that look all ways, and air and sunshine
galore. It was nursery first and then playroom and gymnasium, I should judge; for the windows are
barred for little children, and there are rings and things in the walls...[The paint and paper] is stripped
off the paper in great patches all around the head of my bed...I never saw a worse paper in my
life...The color is repellent, almost revolting; a smouldering unclean yellow... (Gilman 845).
The description of the barred windows enforce the idea that the narrator is confined to the room and
unable to escape; she is able to see her surroundings but not able to interact with the surrounding
environment. The nursery environment of the

Human Control Project Analysis
Today, numerous individuals are persuaded that the end of the dark wolf was a blunder, as well as a
drawback to the personal satisfaction in this nation. There has been an open objection to redress the
circumstance made by the lack of awareness of our progenitors. Then again, in trying to address a
circumstance made by the human impulse to control nature, it is significant to recognize the amount of
human impedance is fundamental. Human control must be tempered by an appreciation and
restriction. Projects intended for the insurance and rebuilding of untamed life must reflect respect for
the normal request instead of predominance over it. The outcomes of human activities including the
disposal of the dim wolf have been particularly intense in Yellowstone National Park, where the
absence of a characteristic predator has brought about the overpopulation of buffalo, deer, and elk. As
indicated by Sharon Begley of Newsweek magazine, Missing a characteristic predator, a great many
the ungulates have starved amid intense winters, and there has been no determination weight to keep
deer quick and moose effective . Another issue is more inconspicuous. As Ms. Begley ... Show more

Nonetheless, there are inborn issues in catching and moving wolves effectively. Indeed, even scholars
for the project concede that the most obvious test is to beat the common inclination of wolves to
attempt to return home. The main answer for this quandary is to pen the creatures up for a time frame
until they get used to their new environment. Tragically, at whatever point wolves are penned, there is
a threat that they will lose some of their ferocity. Be that as it may, such measures have as of now been
fundamental on account of one of the wolf families in Yellowstone. Taking after the illicit slaughtering
of the overwhelming male in one of the packs, a late redesign

Colorism-Skin Tone Discrimination In The Makeup Industry...
For decades, makeup companies have treated foundation shades like a high end, exclusive VIP club
that women of color cannot get into. Representation in the beauty industry is a continued issue that no
makeup company can seem to get right. While the spectrum of foundation shades have widen, the
makeup counter has not changed much. There is a major misunderstanding between makeup industries
and women of color. This is a result of the lack of understanding of the needs of the diverse consumer.
There is an absence of knowledge and empathy for others that are not white. When we consider these
factors we have to think about the creators of these products. Often times they do not look like us, so
how can we expect for them to meet our needs. This form of discrimination can place a direct
discouragement on women of color s self esteem. This exclusion in an attempt to purchase foundation
for their skin tone is what race relation s specialist, Nadra Kareem Nittle calls colorism. In her article
What Is Colorism Skin Tone Discrimination in America, she describes colorism as the disadvantage
dark skinned people face, while privileging those with lighter skin. Colorism is rooted in slavery, as
slave owners typically gave preferential treatment to slaves with fairer skin complexions, while dark
skinned slaves faced harsher mistreatment out in the fields. Makeup companies favor their white
counterparts, often only providing a few shades that do not meet the needs of women of color.

Permanence Of Loss
Most young children have at least a vague idea what death is they might know its name, how it affects
the adults in their life, that some of their favorite movie or book characters have experienced it but
when a child loses a pet they are confronted by mortality for what is often the first time.
Dogs and other pets are often loyal companions who spend years alongside your family, providing
unconditional joy and love. Grieving the loss of such a friend is natural and healthy.
So how can you best help your child manage and move on from their grief? Before beginning the

They might seek to understand death in familiar terms, asking where the dog has gone or when he will

can more easily accept their pet s absence if they understand that their pet s body stopped working
correctly, or that doctors could not fix the problem.
By grade school, children generally have a better understanding of the finality of loss; this expanded
view of life often leaves children with more questions. You can best help your child by listening to
these questions. It s okay to admit you don t have the answer what s important is building a
relationship in which your child feels you are emotionally available to them.
What can I learn about how my child is coping from his/her behavior?

There will always be someone else trying to sell your product for less money. Many monopolies are
enforced by government. One example would be operating a cab in New York City. You would need a
government issued medallion. The number of medallions are fixed which develops profits for initial
owners. The profits are not because of talents or resources, instead these profits come by the absence
of government enforcement of the medallion requirement. The government enforcement of
monopolies is an attempt to solve market failure. An example would be New York City enforcing the
medallion rules because they are under the assumption that if they don t restrict cabs, there would be a
lot more traffic jams in the city. When government enforcement of monopolies is appointed for the
well being of subset being granted a monopoly instead of the well being of society, that is when greed
steps in. But monopolies can also improve welfare. For instance, a drug company developing new
heart medication will pay lots of money in research and development for perfecting the drug without
selling anything to achieve revenue. It anticipates that it will sell under a patent over some period of
time and cover the development cost. If you take away the monopoly it takes away the motivation to
produce better drugs. So if markets are not competitive then greed isn t really a problem. It is only a

Government Regulation of the Microsoft Corporation Does the government have the right to regulate large corporations, namely the Microsoft Corporation? If so, then to what extent can the government do so? Based on our research, it is the government s responsibility to remedy Microsoft s noncompetitive behavior in order to increase fair competition. The Microsoft vs. the Government trial has many possible outcomes, which may affect a specific party. • 3. Norman, The Conqueror And The Norman Army Norman success in late 11th century England The tactics used by William the Conqueror and the Norman army, militarily, administratively, and culturally, impacted their success in imposing their power within the English kingdom. These tactics worked in tandem, increasing the success of each of their objectives. The military force used by the Normans was useful in gaining and later maintaining territories for the crown, the administration allowed William the Conqueror s reign to act in a more effective manner under him in the early days of his rule, and the cultural and religious structures allowed the Normans to integrate the already closely tied Norman and English societies. Arguably the most important factor in the exertion of power over the English was the ability by the Normans to act militarily. The warlike attitude of the Normans, combined with the religious aspects that will be discussed later, provided them with a ready and capable army with which to support William s claim to the throne. The early years of William s rule, after the 1066 defeat of Harold, emerged as a sort of military occupation within England by the Normans. These years were crucial in the Norman advance within England. When William came to England he arrived with a large support of military men and much of these supporting military men remained in England because of their military duties. This army aided William not only in the initial battle against Harold, but later as well, through their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

That prevents us from appreciating their individuality. We need to shelve our assumptions and accept the differences. Thirdly, we can expand our empathy by gaining direct experience of other people s lives, putting into practice the proverb: Walk a mile in another man s shoes, before you criticise him . There are two more traits required for being an empathic person. One of them is, to master the art of listening. It is essential, that we have the ability to listen to what is really going on within the other person, and to the unique feelings and needs the other person is experiencing in that very moment. An empathic person will listen hard to others and do all he can to grasp their emotional state and needs. Ethics encompass essential guidelines and codes of conduct that is taken into consideration before carrying out research. Although undergraduate and graduate curriculum in psychology acquaints students with the basic nature of ethical considerations and codes of conduct in research, however, it is likely that some of the most famous experiments in social psychology such as experiment by Stanley Milgram on Behavioral Study of Obedience exemplify ethical misconduct. The structure normally consists of a vertical hierarchal structure with the chief executive manager at the helm, and divisional leaders rounding out the strategic leadership team. • 11. Bucky Cantor s Heroic Struggle In Nemesis By Philip Roth In the novel Nemesis, by Philip Roth, the central character, Bucky Cantor, has a personal desire for some heroic challenge. This desire originated from his upbringing from his maternal grandparents after his mother died giving birth and after his father left Bucky at an early age. His grandfather in particular raised the young Bucky Cantor to embody and espouse the masculine virtues. These virtues included bravery, accepting responsibility, and making the best out of what is provided. With the life lessons of his grandfather, Bucky was able to grow up, in spite of severely poor vision and lack of immediate parents, to become a young man of excellent physical prowess and mental fortitude. One roadblock Bucky overcame was when he was barred entry into the military, preventing him from fighting with his close friends and for a chance at challenging gallantry. True to his grandfather s lessons during childhood, he made do with his circumstances and fought another conflict of a different nature. During most of the novel, Bucky Cantor was employed as a teacher and playground director of a local school in a closely knit, family oriented Jewish community of Weequahic neighborhood in Newark, New Jersey. • 12. George Orwell s Animal Farm Essay Karl Marx, writer of Communist Manifesto, is represented as an old, wise pig in George Orwell s Animal Farm. Because Orwell is a democratic socialist and does not accept the ideologies of Marxism, he reveals the reality of communism and reflects his opinions through sardonic situations that occur among animals. The state of communism that Marx and Friedrich Engels describe is where the state is abolished, people live in a society where members work together in agreement and no one is exploited, and every member shares the rewards of hard work. The envisions of Marx greatly contrasted with the plot of Animal Farm. Old Major, a pig, had a dream that mirrored Marx and his dream of communism. This dream is ironic because it suggests that communism is only a dream. The Soviet Union s policies were seen as steps to reach communism, rather than the end result of communism, in which all animals of the farm endured. The characters in animal farm had to pass through this in between stage before becoming a complete communist society, and in reality they remained in this stage and believed they were close to their goal. The animals, who were the laborers, fulfilled Old Major s wish and overthrew the capitalistic men with a revolution, much like how Marx and Engels hoped for the day the Proletarians would overthrow the Bourgeois, the owners of private property. He focused on arousing the animals emotionally and didn t mention any practical reasons to help solve their issues. However, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The man bun isn t just a mens hairstyle that popped up casually in 2014, which is what most guys believe since these days about 98% of hipsters wear a manbun. Plenty of long haired men over the years have styled their hair into a manbun, and this hairstyle was simply called a bun ; just like women too call the hairstyle a bun . How do I know this? Because I have had long hair for many years, and the hairstyle name of a man bun is something that doesn t resonate with any long haired dude who had been growing his long tresses prior to 2011. Like the other female protagonists, this heroine is initially treated as an object to be manipulated and gambled away. The Beast in this version is associated with a tiger, a reminder of the heroine s mother in The Bloody Chamber. He also lives on a threshold between the worlds of wild animals and humans. The heroine s longing for the wild innocence of horses prefigures her later transformation. The symbol of the rose begins to grow more complex here. • 21. Analysis Of The Lamb By William Blake Introduction/Thesis Just like the lamb that was born into this world through a virgin and was sacrificed for all mankind, this same lamb made us and called us by his name. In his poem The Lamb, William Blake clearly uses repetition, personification, and symbolism to describe his religious beliefs and how a pure sacrifice is portrayed by a little lamb. Laura Quinney s book, William Blake on Self and Soul, shows the religious side of Blake when it says, Blake makes this argument in his address To the Deists, where he insists Man must will have Some Religion; if he has not the Religion of Jesus, he will have the Religion of Satan (Quinney, 2009). Blake uses his religious view to show us he believes that our creator is the Lamb of God. He distinctively uses the innocence and purity of a little lamb and how its creator clearly takes care of it. The lamb is fed, given water by the stream and a bidden a blessed life. Repetition To begin with, Blake s use of repetition intensifies the significance of our creator and all he has done for us, as well as the sacrificial giving of life, food, and clothing as would a parent sacrificing for a little child. Blake s reoccurrence of the questions, Little Lamb who made thee? and Dost thou know who made thee? shows the importance of creation of the little lamb. He answers the questions repetitiously by saying, Little Lamb I ll tell thee, Little Lamb I ll tell thee! (Blake, 1988). The answer continues on in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The similar result raised in Stiroh s (2006) research in American equity market during 1996 2005. He concluded that, on the one hand, there is no apparent link between non interest income exposure and average profits. On the other hand, the diversification of non interest income has a strong and positive correlation with the volatility of equity return. Banks in European shared the similar phenomenon in which banks with non interest business present a lower level of risk management capability than those who mainly focused on traditional interest income activities. Recent findings state that compare to trading activities, bank s conglomerate risk is mainly positively correlated with the scale of non interest income (Lepetit 2008). Conclusion The risk of skipping planned project activities as listed by Robert Wysocki (2009, pp.283 288) is a big threat for the likelihood of future problems. This is the case with 2 projects in South Sudan. The first had close out problems because client condition of satisfaction for deliverables was not documented at the start of the project, nor was it tracked, updated, discussed and agreed. During close out, senior management from the client and contractor blamed each other for not having a plan making close out a war of words to be settled by an Arbitrator. Also, another project, although with a documented close out plan that was reviewed and updated on a monthly basis, did not include an agreement as to who would be the receptor of project asset. This brought chaos during closure when government claimed all assets should be turn over to them and the donor refused, simply because there was no indication of this in the close out document. If close out activities are not performed before closing the project the risks are very highly likely to have more threats than opportunities.
