The Pros And Cons Of A Hero
Superman, Batman, Ironman, Hulk, Thor, etc. These superheroes were all heroes in the world with a
superpower; however, in reality a hero is much more than having an amazing superpower. All people
have the potential to become a hero, and the traits and actions that make up a hero are inside each and
every one of us. Heroes are all around us in both the modern and past world. These heroes are created
in many ways, but it doesn t take a risky moment, or it doesn t take saving the world to be a hero. A
hero isn t always the strongest human being that risks their life, a hero is someone who makes a
positive impact in someone else s life and overcomes challenges. To begin, Bob Riley said, Hard times
don t create heroes. It is during the hard times when the hero within us is revealed. This quote proves
how a hero faces hard times, and a hero defeats these obstacles that face him or her. In addition, there
are many examples of heroes in the modern world. These unique heroes in the world are regular
people like you and me. The only difference is, these unique heroes take an extra step and make a
footprint in the world. To make this print, there were, and are many situations and natural disasters in
the word that help bring out these heroes. For example, during the 9/11 attacks there were dozens of
heroes. People from all different backgrounds became a hero saving others lives or having a positive
impact in a random stranger s life. One hero during this troublesome time in

What I Learned About Magic
I used to not believed in mythical creatures, magic, or spirits, I never liked the movies or books with
fairies, curses, or evil. I always thought that it was nonsense that only 5 year olds believed in. For me,
magic was a silly form of entertainment that made you gape with fake amazement at a carnival or
magic show. Maybe it was the fact that I refused to believe that forced me into this mess in the first
place, or maybe it was just destined to happen. But either way, I learned my lesson the hard way. It all
began on my summer vacation to see my grandparents in Egypt when I was 13. As I got off the
airplane, with my small blue suitcase in one hand and my computer bag in the other, I saw my
grandparents in the distance and began to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My grandfather followed behind with my suitcase. The whole car ride grandmother chattered on and
on about all of the great places we could go see, including a newly discovered pyramid and sphinx.
After we pulled up to the small square house that my grandparents were renting, I headed up stairs to
my room in the attic. I put my suitcase and computer bag on the floor and plopped into an old bean
bag chair in the corner of the room. As I looked around the room, still crowded with unpacked boxes I
saw an old box in the corner that seemed to glow with an eerie light. I heaved myself up off of the
bean bag chair and opened the box. Inside were 2 orbs, 1 was a bright gold while the other was a
metalic blue color. Carefully, I picked up both orb began to walk towards my bed, but on my way I
tripped over my suit case and face planted on the floor. The orbs in my hands shattered. As I picked
myself and began to collect the broken pieces of glass, I realized the glass was moving. The glass
seemed to be melting forming 2 distinct shapes. In a few minutes 2 human figures had formed, one
with golden hair and the other with metalic blue eyes. The people looked to be teenagers like me. The
kid with metalic blue eyes took 1 glance at me, then at the girl next to her and took off. She jumped
through the small window in the corner and disappeared through the busy streets. The other girl, with

The Conquest Of The Americas
The conquest of the Americas is one of the most important events in modern history. The invasion,
which took centuries to complete, created a trans atlantic world. The people that began the conquest
were Spaniards, inhabitants of the Iberian Peninsula, primarily from the Christian kingdoms of
Castille and Aragon. Following the initial discovery By Cristobal Colon in 1492, Spaniards conquered
most of modern South and Central America, as well as the Caribbean. They did this in the words of
Bernal Diaz de Castillo, a conquistador that took part in the invasion of Mexico; we came here to
serve God and the king and also to get rich . As the Spanish noblemen himself states, most colonists
decided to engage in the conquest because of multiple reasons. Chiefly a devotion to the Catholic
Church and its mission to convert all heathens . A love of country, expressed in a desire to expand the
empire, both materially and ideologically. And perhaps most importantly these young men were
guided by a desire for profit and social advancement, the like of which would of impossible in
Motherland Spain . In this essay I will consider the motives that led to the conquest and destruction of
the Aztec and Inca peoples of modern Mexico and Peru. In particular this paper will look at why the
conquest was possible, both physically and idiotically. Also I will look at how the conquest received,
both in distant Spain and by the conquered peoples themselves.
Why 1492? Spain was jubilant, having

Sadism In Night And Fog
Assuming that directors make films on genocide to raise awareness and to move people to act for
justice, the films we have seen in class try to reflect that theory. Night and Fog is a 1955 French
documentary short film directed by Alain Resnais created ten years after to the liberation of Nazi
concentration camps. The film was composed of shots of the camps making it graphic in nature. It
alternates between the present and past using black and white and color shots. They show the
Auschwitz remnants while the narration is going on with the scenery. The issue of sadism is raised
upon the prisoners with things such as medical experimentation, torture, and prostitution. The graphic
scenes of the bodies and the chambers are disconcerting to say the least. I think the use of the music
along with black and white images are overused leaving the audience in shock, thus raising full
awareness. If it were up to me I would not use as much graphic images at he did. It is one of the
movies you cannot forget about due to the images that are engraved in your mind. Resnais switches to
color to and narrates with little to no music which blends well in order to give the audience a break
from the horrific images. The color shots are not vibrant so the translations from black and white to
color is not disturbing to the eye. Some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

were in the near east at that time. They should have had more documents as proof for what the
eyewitnesses are reporting and make it more reliable information. I think the film Ararat raises
awareness on this genocide better when it comes to filming, content, and theme. Ararat puts things
into perspective in a new way and makes the audience zone in and out to the past and present making

The suburb of Highton is positioned in the city of Geelong, Victoria, Likewise, the information that
has been collected on this suburb was obtained from the nearest weather station (Weather Station
Code 087184) and the Australian Bureau Of Metrology.
The data that was gathered highlighted the annual rainfall of this suburb to be around 520 mm. This
result indicated the dryness of the suburb of Highton. However, in comparison, the Melbourne CBD
was shown to be around 650 mm which indicated a 130 mm difference of rainfall annually.

technology in running their business and they try to adapt this new technology slowly. According to
Andzulis et al. (2012), the Ford Motor had hired 40 employees that are social media practitioners to
promote their new car model which is Ford Focus. The employees had been given opportunity to drive
test the car and the video have been uploaded in Facebook and other social media website.

Summary Of A Vindication Of The Rights Of Woman By Mary...
From A Vindication of the Rights of Woman by Mary Wollstonecraft is covering the importance that
women should have education in the eighteenth century. In her Vindication of the Rights of Women it
was a response towards Rousseau. She explains how philosophers like Rousseau were so intelligent
however they ignored the fact that women need to seek education as well. Wollstonecraft gives her
reasons on why women should value education in their lives and how it is beneficial. It is crucial that
women provide themselves with an education because knowledge will allow them to overcome the
burden that men set on them. During the eighteenth century Rousseau came up with this theory that if
men had education they can be unstoppable human beings. He ... Show more content on

She is huge on the power of knowledge and reasoning so she uses that to her advantage when arguing
about her views for woman s rights. As Wollstonecraft implies, strengthen the female mind by
enlarging it, and there will be an end to blind obedience; but as blind obedience is ever sought for by
power, tyrants and sensualists are in the right when they endeavor to keep women in the dark, because
the former only want slaves and the latter a play thing. (136). She portrays herself as a rational thinker
when it comes to the issue with women. Wollstonecraft to a certain degree faced hatred towards her
reasoning but she doesn t allow that to stop what she believes. The men in the times of the eighteenth
century wouldn t approve of the actions that Wollstonecraft did because they think that is manly of a
woman to speak upon issues like that. There is also a sense of pride and acknowledgment within her
own reasoning with equality between men and women. She is acknowledging within in her own
knowledge because she isn t excluding anyone when it comes to education. She believes everyone is
capable of seeking after education and having a chance. Therefore, Wollstonecraft tone and voice is
highly favored because she speaks on what she believes with confidence but without floundering out

College Education Gap Analysis
Since the beginning of American history, there has always been a gap in achievement between the
Black and minority community versus their counterparts, the Whites. The difference between the two
groups was that of opportunities. Minorities in the United States were initially deprived of all chances
at prosperity, and Whites were born into a societal prosperity; an idea that Beverly Tatum calls White
Privilege. While it is important to acknowledge that the educational gap between African American
and White students has diminished in regards to college enrollment, it is important to evaluate the
differences between what affects certain races in attendance and completion of college. The factors
that will be considered are family dynamics, finances, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Obviously, a low socioeconomic status is more closely tied to that of a minority. In Susan Dynarski s
experiment, the findings indicate that low socioeconomic African American students have less contact
with faculty, study less, are less involved with student organizations, work more, and have lower
grades than do their high SES peers or all African American students. Does a student s socioeconomic
status correlate with the relationships they share with their professors and peers with higher
socioeconomic statuses? Furthermore, 9 years after entering college, low SES students report lower
incomes, lower rates of degree attainment and lower aspirations than their high SES peers, and were
less likely to have attended graduate school. Logistic Regression results indicate that sex, college GPA

they could not relate to the people around them. This factor could contribute to a feeling of not

Eukaryotic Cell Functions
All eukaryotic cells have microtubules, which are hollow rods assembled from a globular protein
called tubulin. Microtubules grow in length by adding tubulin dimers. Those dimers can also be
disassembled, which would allow the tubulin to build microtubules elsewhere in the cell. The two
opposite ends of of a microtubule are actually pretty unique. One end can can accumulate or release
tubulin dimers at a much higher rate which allows it to grow or shrink during cellular activities
(Campbell, pg.114). The microtubules and the motor proteins of a cell are closely related, which is
why I must introduce some of there functions. Cell motility generally requires interaction if the

Now we are presented with microtubules again and this time I shall describe to you why this is part of
the correct choice. As microtubules structure actually serves as tracks, which organelles that are
equipped with motor proteins can use to move. That seems like one of the two functions we were
looking for that contribute to movement within a cell. Microtubules are often handled with the task of
guiding vesicles from the ER to the Golgi apparatus (Campbell, pg. 114). The next part of choice B is
motor proteins, which are often compared to as feet or how the cell walks to their destination. They
use the tracks provided by the cytoskeleton. The motor protein kind work with the cytoskeleton and
the plasma membrane molecules, which allow whole cells to move along fibers on the exterior portion
of the cell (Campbell, pg.113). Choice B is correct.
Choice C. I don t want to repeat myself and sound repetitive so I tried to give a detailed response to
choice A as to why actin filaments is incorrect. Actin filaments is more of a structural component of
the cell aiding it in bearing tension (Campbell, pg. 114) Motor proteins I tried to give a detailed
description in choice B as to why it is correct. Motor proteins work with various parts of the cell to
allow whole portions of a cell to move along fibers outside the cell (Campbell, pg.113). Choice C is

Suicide Is Reaching Epidemic Proportions All Across The Globe
Suicide is reaching epidemic proportions all across the globe. What is causing such an outbreak in
young adults? Most people have heard about the get help hotlines and the advertisements associated
with suicide. Although we ve all heard about it, not much is being done about it. Johnson states the
facts about suicide, claiming 39,518 lives in 2011, or more than 6,889 more than in 2005 (10). This
small piece of information goes to show just how much suicide has increased in the last few years.
Besides being the number 10 cause of death among all ages in the U.S., it is the 2nd leading killer of
adolescents, or people between ages 15 and 19 (Peacock 1). Also, the number of completed suicides
only touches the surface on the dilemma it truly is; this is because there are 25 suicide attempts per
every suicide (731). What goes unnoticed is that suicide is on the rise for a number of reasons
including mental illness, bullying, social media, and high expectation perfectionist teens.
Mental illnesses, including the number one untreated cause for suicide, depression, account for 90% of
suicides (Randall 532). Depression causes serious negative consequences that may lead to suicidal
behavior if not taken care of properly (Martinez 2). Anxiety, another mental disorder, may cause worry
and over analysis in even simple tasks. The risk for suicide is noticeably higher within the first year of
diagnosis for those with anxiety and depression. However, patients with schizophrenia,

The Matter Of Foreign Aid
The matter of foreign aid is complicated. Through our own policies, the policies of international
organizations, and assorted agreements with numerous countries, our role in foreign aid has continued
to change over the decades to meet the growing needs of the developing and developed worlds. While
we try to aid the developing world to the extent of our capabilities, there are several elements to
consider some of which in the past have often been neglected. When providing aid to countries in
need, we fund programs through both Official Development Assistance, hereafter referred to as ODA,
and through the financial support of private donors. We rely heavily on partnerships with non
governmental organizations, NGOs, to execute many of our funded programs in other countries, as
well as our own agencies such as the Peace Corps. This brief will further explain the general reasoning
for and operations of foreign aid, as well as provide you with some past practices of foreign aid which
will serve as models of what to do, or in some instances, what not to do, in the future. Foreign aid has
not been a formal element of our budget for too long; in fact it s only been policy and budgeted for
just over half a century. This is not to say prior to the 1940s there was no international aid type
involvement; it was just in other conventions and for other purposes. For example, there was
humanitarian relief in some European countries, private investment in French and British colonies,

The Teenage Girl
The Teenage Girl To most people, Metal music is what they listen to when they re pissed off, or
working out, or something involving aggression, and a lot of people just wont listen to it. To me,
Metal is the complete opposite. A crushing guitar riff, backed by an intricate drum beat, and all topped
off with vocals that can be a blanket of emotions around the listener. When I listen to a favorite band,
or group, I am overcome with emotion. I sit and listen to a brutal riff with an insane drum part, and I
can just feel the stampede running through my ears. It is the most satisfying feeling in the world. So
for me to get to go to my first Metal concert a few years ago, you can imagine there was no happier

I thought that time was done mocking me, seeings how its today, i m here. I was sadly mistaken. I
didn t realize that the wait in line would drag on slower than a one legged turtle trying to get across a
muddy cornfield. I will tell you right now, that it was far beyond worth the wait when finally, down
the street I see several tour busses heading our way. I apologize if my language offends you here, but i
almost shit myself with excitement when They pulled up. The clock could finally stop staring at me
with that devilish smirk, and I could finally take my rightful place as ruler of the front row. The big
doors to the venue, which proudly I stood directly in front of, slowly creaked open, as if asking are you
sure you re ready? , and we all started scampering in like dogs that had been left outside in the rain all
day. I proudly handed the first ticket over to the burly dude collecting tickets, and immediately ran to
the front of the stage. I guess I forgot about Ty and Dillon, but they ended up making their way up to
the front anyway. Standing there, you could feel the thick anticipation in the air, and smell the musty,
sweaty bodies that had been waiting outside all day. I didn t notice on my way up, probably due to
being overly excited, but your shoes stuck to the ground like the floor was made of duct tape. There

Essay On The Differences Between Bismarck And Wilhelm
Overall, while the foreign policies of Bismarck and Kaiser Wilhelm were not very similar, they did
both maintain the Dual and Triple Alliances, and Germany was at the center of European diplomacy
during both era s, however it was in different ways. Therefore, while both policies did not share many
similarities, they did have their key differences. For instance, during the rule of Otto Von Bismarck,
Germany had a strong and well developed foreign policy. This is because through the use of foreign
policy, Otto Von Bismarck aimed to weaken France, thus ensuring that no other country would attack
Germany. Additionally, Bismarck also prevented threats to Germany through use of defensive
alliances and cooperative agreements with various countries, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Kaiser Wilhelm had their similarities and differences, both decisions were extremely significant to
World War I in a variety of different ways. For instance, the foreign policies of Otto Von Bismarck
were significant to World War I in the sense that one of Bismarck s primary aims was to weaken and
isolate France. Additionally, Bismarck used diplomacy in order to protect the newly unified German
Empire, as well as to settle disputes and prevent a large European War. Furthermore, Bismarck aimed
to protect the unification of Germany through use of foreign policies and also focused on advancing
their economic interests. Thus, Bismarck had limited interest in building a world empire, unlike
Wilhelm II. In general, through Bismarck s foreign policy tactics and agreements, he successfully
manipulated several countries, and his alliances via his agreements ultimately created a great deal of
tension, and caused Europe to have World War I. Meanwhile, Kaiser Wilhelm II s foreign policy
tactics were significant to World War I as his decisions also ultimately caused World War I to occur.
For instance, Wilhelm II s aims through use of foreign policies was to use Weltpolitik policies that
would make Germany have a place in the sun , and also known as a respected power during the course
of World War I. In order to accomplish these goals, Wilhelm II believed that Germany needed to
expand their territory in order to gain colonies (so that Germany would also have a voice in world
politics), and that Germany needed to have a powerful navy. However, Wilhelm s eagerness to build a
powerful navy ultimately lead to tension with Britain. Additionally, Wilhelm II s aims through foreign
policy that ultimately lead to World War I is that he believed in Germany breaking their alliance with
Russia, thus refusing to renew the Reinsurance Treaty in

Sacco And Vanzetti Case Study
The case of Sacco and Vanzetti sparked a national outcry for justice as well as a national debate over
American values. Two Italian immigrants, shoe operative Nicola Sacco and fish peddler Bartolomeo
Vanzetti, were falsely accused robbing Braintree s Slater and Morrill Shoe Company and murdering
two of the factory s workers (After the Fact 256). At the time of the Braintree holdup, the police were
investigating a similar crime in Bridgewater. In both cases a gang was involved, and the suspects
escaped in a car. Eyewitnesses believed the criminals to be Italians. So, when Sacco and Vanzetti

Felix Frankfurter, one of the most prominent and respected critics of the trial, described the document
denying Sacco and Vanzetti s appeal to the Supreme Court as a farrago of misquotations,

for acting more like an advocate than an arbiter (After the Fact 280). The multifaceted conflict
between prosecution and defense is why the Sacco and Vanzetti case drew national attention people
were not only fighting over guilt or innocence but what it meant to be American. This case forced
people to question the principles of freedom and equality that define the United States and how these

The Ignorance Of Truth In The Matrix
The Matrix is a film about a simulated reality in which humans are programmed to a neural interactive
simulation. The film is very similar to the bible due to the way that it has used symbolism to present
situations and scenes. The Gospel of John and some scriptures from the bible were taken to compare
to the film to show similarity and relevance. There are themes in which the Bible and the Matrix have
in common and these are ; evil is living in the ignorance of truth, resurrection and the truth. The first
theme that will be discussed in evil is living in the ignorance of truth and this shows similarity to the
Genesis 3 story when Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit. The second theme is the truth and this

The Matrix had a scene, in which Neo fought Agent Smith to defeat the darkness and release the
human race from the simulated reality. Neo was shot not only once, but multiple times and repeatedly.
He fell and was shot even more. Neo was dead for 72 seconds which can be interpreted as 72 hours

Deception In A Doll s House And The Stronger
Analysis of Marriage and Deception Within A Doll s House and The Stronger
Both the stories of A Doll s House and The Stronger contain a common theme of the presence of lies
and deceit to maintain an idealistic life within their society. Ibsen and Strindberg displayed how both
the characters Nora and Madame X are the stereotypical, general female roles who wish to have an
ideal relationship with both their husbands and those around them. They both have recurring situations
in which the lead character confronts the root of their problems. To Nora, that is her husband and the
insincerity of their relationship, while for Madame X, it s Mademoiselle Y. A prime example of Nora s
idealism is in the fact that her husband so often mistreated her and demanded so much, ... Show more

and if I differed from him I concealed the fact, because he would not have liked it. He called me his

with her husband was compared to that of her husband, showing truly how indecently both her father
and husband had treated her within their normal family life. She wasn t able to have her own opinion,
and was shown disapproval for it. Hence, she was forced to create a personality to use around Torvald
and also those who she wanted have the thought that they were indeed a perfect family. Torvald
seemed to be more like a controlling parent figure to Nora rather than an ideal husband. Most of her
character points revolved around the idea that she was to be a doll living in a doll s house, to be

Standardized Test Essay
Standardized test are one of the many measures profession school counselors use to assess students
performance and learning. When it come to making a decision about a student s educational
performance, school counselors prefer more than one criteria instead of just using a single test. The No
Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) established in 2001 stated that the academic achievement of all student
should be held accountable by the school. High stakes testing, which refers to the use of standardized
test scores to determine levels of student achievement, became the decision making, measurement

professional school counselors recognize that standardized test results provide valuable information

The imprint that agriculture makes on the cultural landscape is as you look from the West Coast of the
United States to the East Coast you would see green circles standing out in arid regions of the country
are places where center pivot irrigation systems circle around a pivot, providing irrigation to a circle
of crops. Then you can also see a checkerboard pattern on the landscape that reflects the pattern of
land ownership in much of the country. Three main Cadastral systems, the method of land survey
through which land ownership and property lines are defined, include township and range system,
metes and bounds and the longlot survey system. Township and range system divides land into a series
of rectangular parcels. The land was bought and sold in a gridlike pattern on the land in whole, half, or
quarter sections. Metes and bounds survey system uses natural features are used to demarcate irregular
parcels of lands. Long lot survey system divides land into narrow parcels stretching back from rivers,
roads, or canals.

to explain the environmental impacts of commercial agriculture.
Commercial and family farming are two different concepts of farming. Family farms are organic and

A Brief Look at Bilingual Education
Bilingual Education Two Way Immersion programs According to Martinez Wenzy, Perez Gandara
(2012), two major research by the National Literacy Panel (NLP) and the Center for Research on
Education, Diversity and Excellence (CREDE) on effective approaches in the education of ELLs,
found that Reading, spelling and writing instruction in the home language facilitates achievement in
English. The same authors also found, that ELL students who receive instruction in their Native
language outperform their peers in English only programs (as cited in Martinez Wenzy, Perez
Gandara, 2012, pg. 10). Two Way Immersion (TWI) programs, although originally developed to help
English speaking students learn a second language, aim to provide the necessary support for both
English speakers and minority language speakers to become bilingual, biliterate, and biculturate.
Ideally, a TWI classroom is composed of 50% Native English speakers and 50% speakers of a
minority language (ex. Spanish, or Vietnamese), were both groups learn reading, writing, and content
area in both languages, beginning with instruction in the minority language (90/10 model where 90%
of instruction is in the minority language and 10% in English), and eventually introducing English
until instruction in both languages is equal (50/50 model). Although there are variations to this model,
most programs aim for a 50/50 model either gradually, or from the start of the program. Lindholm

Role Of Ophelia In Hamlet
Ophelia In Hamlet In the play Hamlet, written by William Shakespeare, only two members of the cast
are female characters. Both represent the female gender, and part of the play revolves around the
character Ophelia and Prince Hamlet s relationship towards her. Ophelia is only present in five of the
twenty scenes in the play, and very little is known about her background. As the scholar Lee Edwards
points out, We can imagine Hamlet s story without Ophelia, but Ophelia literally has no story without
Hamlet (qtd. in Showalter 283). Despite of what seems like having a minimal role in the play, Ophelia
still holds much of the readers attention. She gains so much attention because her character and her
circumstances are so tragic and catastrophic. In her essay Representing Ophelia: Women, Madness,

The only way she sees how is by becoming mad, which eventually causes her death. As a mad woman,
Ophelia would not be bound by the societal restrictions of women; she could talk freely to some
extent. However, even in insanity she is not free. She still has no freedom of choice. Ophelia is
eventually regarded as irrational, and her words are not taken seriously and are taken to be simply mad
talk. Whereas Hamlet has the power to change his fate, Ophelia does not, and her death is considered
to be tragic because the only escape she sees from her oppression is madness and death. Her limited
options in a male controlled society and her realization of those limitations are what make Ophelia s
death the true tragedy of Hamlet. As Annette Wyandotte observes in one of her essays, One could
argue that Ophelia s death is the true tragedy of Hamlet. Without critiques, the audience might think
that Hamlet s faith and actions are the main tragic elements of the play, but Ophelia has much of a
bigger role than simply her life and love

Contrast media is a pharmaceutical liquid that can accentuate specific injuries. Contrast media can
help specific organs, blood vessels, and tissue types be accurately visualized. Contrast is used in x ray,
fluoroscopy, MRI, and computed tomography scans. Contrast media is a solution that can be
administered into a person one of three ways: intravenously, orally, or rectally. The patient might have
to drink the contrast solution before the exam begins. Although there are many flavors, it can taste
chalky. The contrast agent can also be injected into a joint space. It is most commonly used in
orthopedics. Barium and iodine are the two agents that are most commonly used. Gadolinium is also
used in MRI. It has a relatively harmless interaction with the body. Most contrast reactions are not
serious and can be taken care of without emergency care. Radiologist technologist try taking
precaution for these situations. The effects from administering contrast media can vary from
immediate, delayed, and long term physical reactions, however, there are several actions that can be
taken to mitigate these issues. The most common side effects people experience include a warming
sensation and a metallic taste in their mouths. These are normal side effects and will go away on their
own in time. No treatment would be needed. Slow intravenous injections will decrease the metallic
taste. A difference between two minutes rather than a ten second injection makes the flushing feeling

Why is English considered as a sexist language? There are various reasons why English is still
considered as a sexist language. One of the major reasons is because of the connotation. The word
engineer can be applied to both sexes, male and female. However, people habitually apply the word
engineer only with male because of its connotation. Consequently, when referring to a woman, you
have to add the word female before engineer. Also in the English language, there are many words that
are evidently male oriented such as, congressman and mailman. Moreover, some nouns of feminine
gender can only be obtained by adding a suffix to masculine gendered nouns such as, prince and
princess and steward and stewardess. Not only because of sexism in words, but sexism in proverbs
also suggest English as a patriarchal language. The proverb, a woman is like a lemon; you squeeze her
and throw her away, certainly shows disrespectfulness and discriminates women in a very insulting
manner. Males and females make different choices with regard to their college

Androgenic Steroids Research Paper
Today in the athletic community, young and old, everybody is trying to trump their competitors by
getting the edge over them wether its running faster, jumping higher, lifting more weight, or just
simply performing better overall. However some of these athletes are after the same end goal but they
are taking a different path to get there. Anabolic Androgenic Steroids (AAS) are becoming more and
more common among younger athletes these days. There has been much talk with doctors, coaches
and parents about the controversy and misconceptions about these drugs and how more athletes are
taking these performance enhancing drugs and how they can have many side affects, positive and
negative. The goal of this paper is to state that the negative side affects out weigh the potential

Summary
France and Brazil have shown to have different economies, but are both significant contributors in the
global economy. The two countries are active and of importance to international trade, and although
France has more access to the European Markets, Brazil has an opportunity in the international
markets. The opportunity comes because Brazil has high interest rates, which investors will probably
find attractive. There are differences in the economic profiles of the two countries and also
similarities. One of the differences is in the government s role in international affairs, where, the
French government plays minimal roles, whereas the Brazilian government plays a significant role in
terms of policy making. Because of this the expansionary monetary policy put in place failed to realise
the anticipated economic growth. The fiscal policies are also similar; while Brazil has experienced a
fiscal restraint, France has followed parts of the EU fiscal stability to achieve economic stability.
Despite this the two countries, for the

many young people on the streets is even worse. To solve this problem we must first understand how
young people are put in this position, how many young people are homeless, and what being in this
position does to them. The first step to fixing this issue is figuring out who is in this position and why.
Approximately 34% of the country s homeless population are under the age of 24, why are these
people homeless? Most youths become homeless because they are running away from something.
About 79% of homeless youth were being physically abused at home and 39% were sexually abused.
Youth identifying as members of the LGBT community make up about 40% of the homeless youth
population. Being homeless is not a choice these young people (ranging from 12 24) have made.

  • 2. The Pros And Cons Of A Hero Superman, Batman, Ironman, Hulk, Thor, etc. These superheroes were all heroes in the world with a superpower; however, in reality a hero is much more than having an amazing superpower. All people have the potential to become a hero, and the traits and actions that make up a hero are inside each and every one of us. Heroes are all around us in both the modern and past world. These heroes are created in many ways, but it doesn t take a risky moment, or it doesn t take saving the world to be a hero. A hero isn t always the strongest human being that risks their life, a hero is someone who makes a positive impact in someone else s life and overcomes challenges. To begin, Bob Riley said, Hard times don t create heroes. It is during the hard times when the hero within us is revealed. This quote proves how a hero faces hard times, and a hero defeats these obstacles that face him or her. In addition, there are many examples of heroes in the modern world. These unique heroes in the world are regular people like you and me. The only difference is, these unique heroes take an extra step and make a footprint in the world. To make this print, there were, and are many situations and natural disasters in the word that help bring out these heroes. For example, during the 9/11 attacks there were dozens of heroes. People from all different backgrounds became a hero saving others lives or having a positive impact in a random stranger s life. One hero during this troublesome time in ... • 4. What I Learned About Magic I used to not believed in mythical creatures, magic, or spirits, I never liked the movies or books with fairies, curses, or evil. I always thought that it was nonsense that only 5 year olds believed in. For me, magic was a silly form of entertainment that made you gape with fake amazement at a carnival or magic show. Maybe it was the fact that I refused to believe that forced me into this mess in the first place, or maybe it was just destined to happen. But either way, I learned my lesson the hard way. It all began on my summer vacation to see my grandparents in Egypt when I was 13. As I got off the airplane, with my small blue suitcase in one hand and my computer bag in the other, I saw my grandparents in the distance and began to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My grandfather followed behind with my suitcase. The whole car ride grandmother chattered on and on about all of the great places we could go see, including a newly discovered pyramid and sphinx. After we pulled up to the small square house that my grandparents were renting, I headed up stairs to my room in the attic. I put my suitcase and computer bag on the floor and plopped into an old bean bag chair in the corner of the room. As I looked around the room, still crowded with unpacked boxes I saw an old box in the corner that seemed to glow with an eerie light. I heaved myself up off of the bean bag chair and opened the box. Inside were 2 orbs, 1 was a bright gold while the other was a metalic blue color. Carefully, I picked up both orb began to walk towards my bed, but on my way I tripped over my suit case and face planted on the floor. The orbs in my hands shattered. As I picked myself and began to collect the broken pieces of glass, I realized the glass was moving. The glass seemed to be melting forming 2 distinct shapes. In a few minutes 2 human figures had formed, one with golden hair and the other with metalic blue eyes. The people looked to be teenagers like me. The kid with metalic blue eyes took 1 glance at me, then at the girl next to her and took off. She jumped through the small window in the corner and disappeared through the busy streets. • 5. The Conquest Of The Americas The conquest of the Americas is one of the most important events in modern history. The invasion, which took centuries to complete, created a trans atlantic world. The people that began the conquest were Spaniards, inhabitants of the Iberian Peninsula, primarily from the Christian kingdoms of Castille and Aragon. Following the initial discovery By Cristobal Colon in 1492, Spaniards conquered most of modern South and Central America, as well as the Caribbean. They did this in the words of Bernal Diaz de Castillo, a conquistador that took part in the invasion of Mexico; we came here to serve God and the king and also to get rich . As the Spanish noblemen himself states, most colonists decided to engage in the conquest because of multiple reasons. Chiefly a devotion to the Catholic Church and its mission to convert all heathens . A love of country, expressed in a desire to expand the empire, both materially and ideologically. And perhaps most importantly these young men were guided by a desire for profit and social advancement, the like of which would of impossible in Motherland Spain . In this essay I will consider the motives that led to the conquest and destruction of the Aztec and Inca peoples of modern Mexico and Peru. In particular this paper will look at why the conquest was possible, both physically and idiotically. • 8. Sadism In Night And Fog Assuming that directors make films on genocide to raise awareness and to move people to act for justice, the films we have seen in class try to reflect that theory. Night and Fog is a 1955 French documentary short film directed by Alain Resnais created ten years after to the liberation of Nazi concentration camps. The film was composed of shots of the camps making it graphic in nature. It alternates between the present and past using black and white and color shots. They show the Auschwitz remnants while the narration is going on with the scenery. The issue of sadism is raised upon the prisoners with things such as medical experimentation, torture, and prostitution. The graphic scenes of the bodies and the chambers are disconcerting to say the least. I think the use of the music along with black and white images are overused leaving the audience in shock, thus raising full awareness. If it were up to me I would not use as much graphic images at he did. It is one of the movies you cannot forget about due to the images that are engraved in your mind. Resnais switches to color to and narrates with little to no music which blends well in order to give the audience a break from the horrific images. The color shots are not vibrant so the translations from black and white to color is not disturbing to the eye. Some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A Brief Look at Bilingual Education Bilingual Education Two Way Immersion programs According to Martinez Wenzy, Perez Gandara (2012), two major research by the National Literacy Panel (NLP) and the Center for Research on Education, Diversity and Excellence (CREDE) on effective approaches in the education of ELLs, found that Reading, spelling and writing instruction in the home language facilitates achievement in English. The same authors also found, that ELL students who receive instruction in their Native language outperform their peers in English only programs (as cited in Martinez Wenzy, Perez Gandara, 2012, pg. 10). Two Way Immersion (TWI) programs, although originally developed to help English speaking students learn a second language, aim to provide the necessary support for both English speakers and minority language speakers to become bilingual, biliterate, and biculturate. Both represent the female gender, and part of the play revolves around the character Ophelia and Prince Hamlet s relationship towards her. Ophelia is only present in five of the twenty scenes in the play, and very little is known about her background. As the scholar Lee Edwards points out, We can imagine Hamlet s story without Ophelia, but Ophelia literally has no story without Hamlet (qtd. in Showalter 283). Despite of what seems like having a minimal role in the play, Ophelia still holds much of the readers attention. She gains so much attention because her character and her circumstances are so tragic and catastrophic. In her essay Representing Ophelia: Women, Madness, and the Responsibilities of ... As a mad woman, Ophelia would not be bound by the societal restrictions of women; she could talk freely to some extent. However, even in insanity she is not free. She still has no freedom of choice. Ophelia is eventually regarded as irrational, and her words are not taken seriously and are taken to be simply mad talk. Whereas Hamlet has the power to change his fate, Ophelia does not, and her death is considered to be tragic because the only escape she sees from her oppression is madness and death. Her limited options in a male controlled society and her realization of those limitations are what make Ophelia s death the true tragedy of Hamlet. As Annette Wyandotte observes in one of her essays, One could argue that Ophelia s death is the true tragedy of Hamlet. Without critiques, the audience might think that Hamlet s faith and actions are the main tragic elements of the play, but Ophelia has much of a bigger role than simply her life and love ... One of the major reasons is because of the connotation. The word engineer can be applied to both sexes, male and female. However, people habitually apply the word engineer only with male because of its connotation. Consequently, when referring to a woman, you have to add the word female before engineer. Also in the English language, there are many words that are evidently male oriented such as, congressman and mailman. Moreover, some nouns of feminine gender can only be obtained by adding a suffix to masculine gendered nouns such as, prince and princess and steward and stewardess. The two countries are active and of importance to international trade, and although France has more access to the European Markets, Brazil has an opportunity in the international markets. The opportunity comes because Brazil has high interest rates, which investors will probably find attractive. There are differences in the economic profiles of the two countries and also similarities. One of the differences is in the government s role in international affairs, where, the French government plays minimal roles, whereas the Brazilian government plays a significant role in terms of policy making. Because of this the expansionary monetary policy put in place failed to realise the anticipated economic growth. The fiscal policies are also similar; while Brazil has experienced a fiscal restraint, France has followed parts of the EU fiscal stability to achieve economic stability.
