Physics Of A Dc Electric Eld
In a DC electric field, charged particles moves to an electrode that has anwith opposite polarity. In an
AC electric field, charged particles oscillate, and their amplitudes are determined by the amount of the
total particle charge. The oscillation amplitude of the charged particle is proportional to the amount of
the charge density (q) and the applied voltage (E), and is inversely proportional to the radius of the
particle (r), the medium viscosity (η), or the applied frequency (f) [28]. When E, η, r, and f are
constant values, the amplitude d of the particle is simply related to the charge density q . In this case,
analyzing the amplitude of the oscillating particle under the AC electric field has the same meaning
with as evaluating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An AC electric field was applied to a sample containing the fluorescent microspheres, and the
oscillation amplitudes of the fluorescent microspheres were observed by using a fluorescent
fluorescence microscope (TE2000 U, Nikon). The continuous CCD images were recorded in a
computer as a movie file format. After the analysis of the recorded data, the oscillation amplitude d
was calculated as the average of one way distances [28]. The amplitudes of the 10 different
microspheres were individually measured, and an the average of these amplitudes was used as the
amplitude d . 4.3 Preparation of biofunctional microspheres 4.3.1 Preparation of IgG modified and
Biotin IgG modified microspheres Two kinds types of microspheres modified with IgG (IgG bead) and
biotin labeled IgG (Biotin IgG bead) were prepared as shown in Figure 4 (a). Two kinds types of
microsphere, carboxylate modified microspheres and orange fluorescence (540/560), were mixed in a
carbonate buffer solution (0.1 M), and the mixture was centrifuged (1000 rpm, 5 min). After repeating
the washing step more than twice, a small portion of PBS (10 mM, pH 7.0) was added to the
microspheres mixtures of microspheres with the addition of carbodiimide. The reaction mixture was
stirred for ˜∼180 min at room temperature. Then, the microspheres were washed twice with a PBS and

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Ink And Dielectrics
1.4.4 INKS AND DIELECTRICS
Different materials are being used now days for the printing of ink on a substrate. The conducting inks
are more useful for this purpose. The difference basically is that of the dielectrics which makes it
different for the working.

Sowpati and his co workers in (2010) investigated the performance of printable antennas with
indifferent conductor thickness. This paper presents an antenna which is able to create very
competitive overall antenna performance, manufactured by inkjet printing of nano silver ink against
Rogers copper foil structures.
T.H Liu (2012) presented a spiral antenna that was backed on photonic band gap material. This
exhibits a larger front to back radiation level ratio, a broader frequency bandwidth, and higher gain
than a traditional spiral antenna. J.Bell and M.Iskander (2004) presented the implementation of
electromagnetic band gap structures with an inherently wide band Archimedean spiral antenna. The
EBG structure was designed to emulate a perfect magnetic conductor.
P.Calvert (2001) presented the inkjet printing for devices and materials with multilayered and uniform
prints. Higher resolutions were required for organic transistors which were to be printed. It was also
possible to print pinhole free layers to sidestep shortage of devices. Multiple layers were printed in a

Due Date: Thursday, 14 June, 2012 An exotic and dwelling place of unique phenomenon attracts
millions of tourists every year. This is Caribbean, island of Barbados, paradise in the seventh heaven.
The idea that the flowery island is under threat of sewage and waste water management beats

Settled sewerage for example, is appropriate for middle income or upper income areas which already
have septic tanks, but where the soil can no longer accept all the septic tank effluent ; this system is
being used in Australia, United States, Colombia and Nigeria. Simplified sewerage system is most
suitable for high density, low income areas ; this method is now used commonly in Brazil and in some
countries of Latin America, Pakistan, and Karachi. (Mara, 1996, pp. 249 256) However, these data are
too old now, and we cannot rely on already infirm experience. Nowadays we are able to use state of
the art technologies and more effective approaches to solve sewage problem. There are two sewage
treatments: anaerobic methods and aerobic methods. Anaerobic Treatment is the most appropriate
technology for tropical areas like Brazil, India and Columbia . This concept uses specially cultivated
bacterium (OS1). Meanwhile, aerobic technologies are designed keeping in mind the conditions of
countries with lower temperature. Also aerobic treatment plants are dependent on continuous power
supply and are extremely costly. (Organic solutions, para.1). UASB (Upflow Anaerobic Sludge
Blanket) for instance, a notion for sewage treatment, was launched in India two decades ago and today
has extended over the other developing countries with similar climate. India is one of the leading
countries in term of amount sewage volume treated by

Michael Phelps Mission Statement
To start, Micheal Phelps was inspired as a kid to for fill his dream to become a champion swimmer,
Farah Ahmedi wanted to find a better life for her and her mother and Aengus wanted to find a
glimmering girl whom he had become fond of and then vanished before him. However, all three
focused on sharing the character s determination, hope and perseverance in reaching their missions to
either help their well being or both theirs and someone else s.
The Michael Phelps mission was to for fill his dream to become a champion swimmer and was
inspired as a keep to complete it. For example, when stated, when he saw the swimmers compete at
the 1996 Olympics in Athens, Georgia, he started to dream about becoming a champion himself ().
This shows, that when Phleps saw the swimmers it inspired his dream to become a champion
swimmer too. But he knew it was going to be hard work. In addition, when shared, Phelps knew he
had to work harder if he wanted to be the best. Phelps undertook a mission since his childhood to
become a champion swimmer, and is now recognized to be one of the best athletes of all time (). This
means, that he knew that he had to work have and be determined if he ever wanted to reach his goal,
and it all paid off in the end. Lastly, when written, Phelps set a world record in July 2012 for earning
more medals than any other Olympic athlete Phelps undertook a mission since his childhood to

Human And Animals In AristophanesDouble-Human Speech
Dr. Hayland from Indiana University probes into Aristophanes double human speech to provide
valuable insight into Plato s ideas on human origins. He believes that it is plausible that Plato believed
that humans are merely animals who replaced an irrational desire for power with logos. In order to
prove his thesis, Dr. Hayland first introduces Aristophanes speech and thoroughly investigates what
caused us to fall to our present state of being humans (Hyland 194). Next, he explores the humanizing
character through further reading of Aristophanes speech, specifically looking at our aspiration for
success. Lastly, Hayland explores the difference between human and animals by analyzing Diotima s
speech. By comparing these two speeches, Hayland believes he will be able to explain Plato s beliefs
on the origins of mankind. Hayland s first argument is that animals in Aristophane s speech had great
thoughts from desire without any reason. In the beginning of the article, Hayland identifies a quote
from Aristophanes which says that our double human ancestors were powerful but neither good nor
pious nor yet characterized by eros (195). He explains that this awesome power threatened the gods
well being, so Zeus split the animals and recruited Apollo to pull our skin around in the front... that
will remind us of our former condition and so cause us to be humble (196). Since being humble
requires a rational sense of belonging, Hayland believes that reason did not control the animals before
us. He emphasizes a quote saying that when double females come together, they were at least...
satiated, and [stopped], and [returned] to their work and the other cares of life (Hayland 196,
references Symposium 191c). He suggests that newly split animals became mindful and cautious of
their actions. Hayland emphasizes the calm and mild behavior to highlight that animals were
controlled by irrational desire before the split. Hayland s second argument is that erotics characterizes
humans. He analyzes Aristophanes reference to love after the split, which states our natural love for
one another developed in human beings, collecting the halves of our original nature, trying to make
one out of two parts, so as

Siddhartha Unity With Nature
Hermann Hesse s novel, Siddhartha, displays a vary of themes throughout the novel. The vital theme
in Siddhartha would be unity with nature. Unity with nature means to be one with. Throughout each
stage of his life, nature was right by his side providing physical and spiritual energy. The theme unity
with nature ambiguously guides Siddhartha on this mission for enlightenment.
To begin with, Siddharthaś journey for enlightenment was served by nature to guide him on his
spiritual path. For Example, Siddhartha embarks a relationship with the river. The river then teaches
him, Siddhartha, that all are one. The natural world connects all its features and inhabitants in one.

Evaluation Essay On Shrek
Recently, I gave my S.H.I.E.L.D Speech for my Oral Com class, and there were many things I did to
prepare. First, I had to decide what my idea was going to be. I picked Shrek as my shield because he is
awesome and I could tie him into my life without it being too much of a stretch. After I had chosen my
topic, I devised a design for my shield. The final shield design was a giant Shrek face with smaller
faces of the characters Donkey and the Big Bad Wolf to go alongside Shrek. Then, I began writing my
outline. I chose my main points (weirdness, friends, and theatre) because they related to Shrek. Once I
had completed my outline, I practiced with it several times twice in class and twice outside of class. It
was during my practice outside of class that I realized that I did not have enough information to give a
speech that would last over four minutes just from my outline. In response to this, I typed exactly what
I was going to say, word for word, and attempted to memorize it, but that didn t go as planned. ...

focused on the speech. I made some jokes, and the audience laughed at most of them, which was a
good feeling. But because I failed to fully memorize the speech, there were times that I was left trying
to figure out the exact phrasing, which took away from the performance slightly, even though I don t
believe it was that big of a deal. I also made a pun by ending my speech with My speech is all ogre

The Depquisition Of Berendsen
1 Major way in which a company can grow.
The two major ways in which a company can grow are the organic growth or the inorganic growth.
Inorganic growth is a system of expanding the company by means of joining together with other
companies to form what one may call a conglomerate. Inorganic growth involves mergers and take
overs. A merger occurs when two firms come together or join together in order to share resources of
the two organisations. A merger helps enhance the two organisations which have joined to share
resources and management skills for the benefit of both organisations which now work under one
management structure. On the other hand take overs include acquisitions of a firm by another. In this
case the one company that has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Comparing Leslie In California, By Andre Dubus
Why is life so hard? What do we do to deserve these things that happen to us? No one deserves to be
hurt physically, mentally, or emotionally in life. Whether it s good or bad, life is going to happen. In
the stories, Leslie in California, written by Andre Dubus, and The Story of an Hour, written by Kate
Chopin, the characters in the stories are alike in some ways. Both Dubus and Chopin are an example
of someone who didn t deserve what life threw at them. According to TheFamousPeople website,
Dubus was married three times and had six children. He had four by his first wife, Patricia Lowe, and
two by his last wife, Peggy Rambach. As for Chopin, she was the only one of her four siblings that
lived past the age of twenty five. They both hit a rough patch in their lives at a young age. According
to TheFamousPeople website, Andre Dubus enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps upon his graduation and
served there for six years, eventually rising to the rank of captain. Dubus was obviously going in the
right direction with his life. To many people, Dubus at the time was considered a hero. According to
the CliffsNotes website, Chopin grew up in a household dominated by women: her mother, great
grandmother, and the female slaves her mother owned. On the CliffsNotes website it says, Kate was
born with the last name O Flaherty. She married Oscar Chopin in 1870, and he died in 1882. Which
made her a widow who had to look after six kids. On TheFamousPeople website it also says, In July

The Case Of Medieval Mystic Christina Of Mirabilis
Life or death: what does one choose? Most people would agree to remain alive without much
hesitation. In the case of Medieval Mystic Christina of Mirabilis, Christina also makes the hasty
decision to continue living on Earth hoping to appease God even though her decision ultimately leads
Christina to push her body to terrifying limits. In Elizabeth Alvilda Petroff s anthology titled Medieval
Women s Visionary Literature, Thomas de Cantimpré s The Life of Christina of St. Trond, Called
Christina Mirabilis depicts Christina s miraculous resurrection from the dead during her funeral
procession at church. Before returning to her body on Earth, Christina is given the ultimate choice of
her fate. De Cantimpre describes, either [Christina] [will] remain with [God] now, or return to [her]
body and suffer the punishments of an immortal soul in a mortal body which, however, will remain
unharmed. Thus by the pains [she] will suffer, [she] will deliver all those souls in purgatory whom
[she] pitied (184 185). Striving to please God, Christina fully agrees to his terrifying terms of
physically suffering on Earth so male sinners in hell may be forgiven. God s terms for Christina
Mirabilis to be able to continue living on Earth as a human after she is resurrected come across as
highly discriminatory for the way Christina must take on the sufferings of male sinners even though
she does not commit these sins herself, learn to endure her gift of mystical smells, which intensities

National Health System ( Nhs ) Essay
National Health System (NHS) England (1800words) The National Health System began in 1948 with
the aim to provide free health care for the English thus removing health access inequities. This essay
considers two strengths of the NHS, being free health and locally responsive health care and two
weaknesses being the financial burden and unprecedented pressure on health care resources. One of
the strengths of the NHS England is residents receive free fully funded medical care that includes all
medical treatment, screenings including antenatal, dental, prescriptions, specialist referrals and
optometrists (NHS England, 2016). Furthermore, while being free at point of access, the NHS system
is an efficient, effective, care, safe, coordinated and patient centred system that was ranked number
two worldwide on equity (NHS England, 2016). Free healthcare supports Ham s (2010) claim that
being free at point of entry is a characteristic of a high performing health care system. The benefits of
free healthcare were that everyone was able to get the same medical treatment. The delivery of health
care through Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCG s) is another strength. CCG s were created in
2012 following the passing of the Health and Social Care Act, to replace primary care trusts in
2013(NHS England, 2013). Their strength lies in their authority and purpose to provide health care
that is responsive to a geographical area and set patient number. They are clinically led, often by local

Supply Curve Is The Cost Of Production
Supply Supply is the quantity of a product that producers want to sell at a specific price. The number
one supply determinant for a company is the cost of production. The three other main determinants of
supply are; improvements in technology, number of sellers, and the forecasted market expectations on
future pricing. There are many other factors that may also lead to a change in supply; more favorable
seasonal conditions, a fall in the cost of other goods resulting in less profit to produce them, and
resources being shifted to the production of the good in question when it is more profitable. Supply
Curve Supply curves are usually indicated an upward sloping curve. The slope of the supply curve
shows that as the price goes up, producers are willing to produce more goods. When prices rise based
on an increased demand for an item, companies will find it more profitable to increase the quantity
supplied of the item, the supply curve will slope upward from left to right. When a price changes, the
quantity supplied will change with it. The movement along the same supply curve. When there are
factors other than price changes, the supply curve will shift. If the demand for an item falls, it only
makes sense for a company to decrease their supply to minimize their loss. Obviously, a company
would rather sell at a higher price than at a lower price to maximize profit. Equilibrium Price The
quantity demanded and the amount supplied determines the market equilibrium price

Water Reuse As A Water Management Initiative
Water reuse is a crucial concept in our society, water is a scarce resource and it is needed to operate
many things. Water is used in stream and in off stream (Botkin, 2014). Water has been used
extensively for irrigation and for energy production in industrial settings. Water reuse is a water
management initiative that is aimed at conserving our water resources and to allow the continual use
of this precious resource repeatedly. Reused water also known as Reclaimed water is a type of water
has been used by households, Industries ect, and is collected on a treatment site where it is cleared of
various solids, organic and inorganic pollutants, and can be released into receiving streams or be used
again. Water can be recycled after it has been used vigorously to perform various functions i.e water
can be treated and then reused, there are numerous ways in which water can wastewater can be
treated. Wastewater can be treated by Constructed wetlands which are manmade systems that use the
properties of plants, microbial diversity to treat wastewater and to remove pollutants. Manmade
wetlands function on simple principles that natural wetlands use to treat water, but constructed
wetlands are monitored by man. There are various manmade wetlands including Free water surface
constructed wetlands (FWSCW) are crucial in treating water that contains organic pollutants, it
accomplishes this by using a process of microbial breakdown of pollutants, Vymazal (2010).

What I Gained My Role As An Educational Leader From These...

1. What insights have I gained about my role as an educational leader from these chapters?
After reading these chapters my eyes have been open to a different way of thinking. The book
mentioned how no one is born a hater. It s your attitude and surrounding that makes you believe you
are a hater of a certain group of people. As an educational leader, these chapters show how important
it is to show love and compassion to all. Also to have an understanding and appreciation of all ways of
life. The attitude of the students and staff start from the top. If you have a negative leader, often times
those under you will be negative about their tasks as well. If ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

I believe the biggest conflict I have between my values and how I behave as an educator is the fact
that I have to stay neutral. The students or parents should not know your religious beliefs or how you
think politically. As an educator you must educate all on both sides allowing them to think for
themselves. Not everyone thinks the same way or has the same morals. Although I can display some
of my values as just as love and respect, I am unable to express my opinion on some topics within the
school. Often times it is hard to remember. For example, a teacher might have to teach evolution when
they believe in creation. One would have to stay neutral and teach and understand both creation and
evolution in order for the students to be well rounded and exposed to every aspect. I find that to be the
biggest struggle for myself as an educator.
3. How have schools used labels to define and control minority groups?
In the classroom, the teacher s greatest challenge is to instill hope and appreciation. If a sense of hope
can be brought into these students lives, and a plan for the future developed, an at risk student may be
able to find the motivation to succeed in school and work to better their prospects for a better life.
Schools have used labels to define and control minority groups to target these at risks students.

depending on certain situations. Dow is an example of a company who have received negative
publicity during the Olympic Games. The company has been criticized for its alleged involvement
with the pesticide plant accident that killed thousands of people in India. Almost all publicity from
Dow becoming one of the eleven major games sponsors has been negative, and just about every story
written about Dow associates the company s name with Bhopal, one of the world s worst industrial
disasters (MSNBC, 2012). Rights groups, athletes, and politician have spoken out against Dow and
signed petitions against Dow s participation. The company paid nearly $11 million for fabric panels to
wrap around the London Olympic stadium, but to assuage public protest, Dow agreed not to put its
logo on the decoration (MSNBC, 2012). In this case the publicity was negative and possibly could
have been avoided had Dow not opted to join the other sponsors. Although there is a possibility for
negative publicity, opportunity to reach global audiences greatly outweighs the potential for negative
publicity. Billions of dollars are spent by businesses to win the hearts and minds of a global audience.
Visa paid around $100 million for the privilege of being one of the London Games top sponsors along
with Coca Cola, McDonald s, and Procter Gamble (Ross, 2012). Although this is

Disney Theme Park Case Study
Disney displays an interesting effect on the global Asian market through their park based in Shanghai.
The Disney s theme park collects its revenue from four main areas, admission charges, merchandise
sales, food and beverage, and other miscellaneous fees such as locker rental. Middle class families,
tourists and residents are the main customers to the park. Disneyland is in the business of theme parks.
As the main motivator for tourism trip and core factor of related products, theme parks are important
players in the tourism industry. In 1955, with his extraordinary creativity, Walt Disney established the
first theme park Disneyland in Los Angeles, California. Different entertaining activities were
combined to create a dramatic and fancy world, which attracted numerous tourists from all around the
world. An image was presented where attention was paid to cleanliness, visitor comfort and quality.
This was all reinforced by the famous Disney cartoons. (Kemperman 2000) With the success of
Disneyland, there are a growing number of theme parks all over the world. However, because of the
differences in economic distribution, culture development and consumer behavior, the development of
theme park in Asian market has far behind the western countries. Therefore, internationalization is on
the plan. In 2017, China reached the total amount of 1260.01 USD HML in Foreign Direct Investment
(FDI) and the number is expected to continue climbing, which became a fertile ground for theme

World Hunger In Africa
World hunger is defined as the want or scarcity of food on a global level. Approximately 795 million
people world wide suffer from chronic malnourishment and nearly all of them live in developing
countries (2016 World Hunger and Poverty Facts and Statistics, 2016). The numbers are shocking and
humanitarian food aid is required to save the millions of men, women, and children that are at risk of
death from starvation. There are three primary types of aid; program aid or in kind aid, relief or
emergency food aid, and project food aid. Project food aid is delivered as part of a specific project
relating to the promotion of agriculture or economic development, nutrition, and food security, such as
food for work or school feeding programs (Shah, 2007). The United Nation s World Food Programe
(WFP) is the leading international organization providing food and organizing logistics in disasters
and emergencies all over the world. Two of its current projects are helping Somalia and Nigeria. In
2017, the WFP has provided food distributions and digital cash cards to nearly a million people in
Somalia, and is in the process of raising $1.5 million to combat food insecurity in Nigeria (UN World
Food Programme, 2017).

Medical Ethics Of The Doctor Patient Relationship
You may not control life s circumstances, but getting to be the author of your life means getting to
control what you do with them (Atul Gawande). This quote, from renowned surgeon and essayist, Atul
Gawande, expresses an important idea in medical ethics: patients possess a certain level of autonomy
in the doctor patient relationship, and this autonomy needs to be respected by medical professionals.
Ethically speaking, physicians owe their patients full disclosure about their diagnoses, treatment
options, and any potential medical risks. Patients have the inherent right to know all aspects of their
illness or malady, and it is not up to physicians to decide which information should be withheld from
patients. Withholding information from patients breaks down any trust that may have existed within
the physician patient relationship, and thus leads to an overall patient dissatisfaction towards the
healthcare system.
In any patient physician relationship, one of the most essential components is the element of trust. One
patient remarks on the importance of trust by saying, We trust them not to use that expertise to exploit
our vulnerability for their own interests...and we trust them to empower and enable us to place their
recommendations into the full context of our own hierarchy of values (Pellegrino, Thomasma 1993).
This patient is accurately describing trust in the context of the consumer model or patient autonomy
model of a doctor patient relationship doctors provide

Freezing Point Depression Lab
The purpose of this lab was to determine the molecular mass of a compound by measuring the
freezing point depression. Freezing point depression is one concept discussed within this experiment,
additionally, in class too. Freezing point depression is a colligative property, which refers to one that
depends on the number of particles in a given volume of solvent, rather than on the chemical nature of
the particles. Another concept applied to this experiment is the cooling curves, which for a pure
solution does not plateau when the phase change occur, rather the rate at which the temperature
decreases becomes slower. The cooling curve for the pure solvent, on the other hand, has a plateau
because there is no solute within it that affects the temperature. ... Show more content on

Dash Cams And The Law Enforcement
In today s society we see more and more advancement of technology. Anything and everything that we
want or need can be accessed just by the touch of a button. Law enforcement has stepped up to plate
with implementing the use of dashboard cameras as well as body cameras as means to provide clarity
to traffic stops and criminal acts. Within the past few years there has been a rising amount of claims of
police brutality which in turn have led to many riots in different states across the United States. There
has also been a significant amount of crimes committed against law enforcement as well. In a
profession where it often comes down to two very different versions of the same event, dash cams
have proven a useful tool. In some ways, a law enforcement officer who can serve an entire career
without facing some sort of civil liability is an anomaly. More and more, patrol men and women are
finding themselves the target of disgruntled citizens. This usually results in complaints to the agency
and/or a lawsuit. (Nash Scarberry, 2014)
Dashboard cameras have been around for some time now with body cameras being introduced in as
well to help verify what has taken place on certain events throughout traffic stops. There is no longer
just a he said/she said side of the story. Live footage is being received and viewed in order to not only
record the stop but to aid in training purposes for law enforcement. Training academies and
supervisors can replay the footage in order to show what

The Pros And Cons Of Active Euthanasia
The American Medical Association states that passive euthanasia (letting die) is morally permissible.
However, active euthanasia (assisting patients die) is never morally permissible because it s like
killing the patient instead of letting the patient die naturally. Active euthanasia, is taking a direct action
to kill a patient and on the other hand, passive euthanasia, is withholding treatments to let the patient
die (letting die). Rachels (1975) disagrees with the American Medical Association because he supports
active euthanasia contrary to the position of this body. According to Rachels, active euthanasia
reduces the pain of the patients who would otherwise die even without the injection. In other words,
there are no significant differences between letting a person die and killing a person, who will still
perish in the end. Rachels refutes the claim of the American Medical Association that does not support
intentional termination of the life of the patient or what is referred to as mercy killing. In her view,
doctors only uphold their legal mandate by not engaging in the mercy killing and ignoring their moral
duty to ensure the patient die without pain. The doctors only seek to avoid legal responsibility by
letting the patient die instead of killing the patient. Alternatively, passive euthanasia allows the patient
to die naturally while the active one requires the doctor to take action to terminate the life of the
patient. As such, by allowing the patient to die, the

First Compressions In Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire
Although first impressions are given quite a bit of weight in our society, they are often wrong. In
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Harry has several first impressions of new characters. Ludo
Bagman is a great guy who works for the ministry: funny, nice, and always cheerful, he s very popular
with Hogwarts students. Fleur Delacour is a French Beauxbatons student who is gorgeous, and very
aware of it. She is always complaining about Hogwarts and thinks the world revolves around her, and
only her. Professor Alastor Moody was an auror in his time, and since he has caught so many dark
wizards, he is very paranoid, leading many people to believe he is insane. However, he is chosen to
become the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, and he knows what he is talking about. These
are all true statements about these three characters. Or are they? Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire,
by JK Rowling, explores the concept of first impressions, revealing that even The Chosen One holds
opinions on people that are completely incorrect.
Ludo Bagman is supposedly an amazing person who wants to see the underdog win, but Fred and
George Weasley quickly learn that he is not the perfect man he seems to be. When Ludo comes to
Hogwarts to judge the Triwizard Tournament, the students cheer very loudly when his name is

Emotional Analysis Of KFC
Commercial analyze KFC
I have chosen to analyze an old commercial from KFC. I do not know from which year the
commercial is from but the commercial is from the USA. The type of product in the commercial is fast
food and more specific fried chicken. In the commercial there is no obvious slogan, but they say
Kentucky fried chicken which I think is the slogan in this commercial.
The target audience for the commercial is Housewives and their family. The commercial needs to get
attention from people in general because they are the people that is supposed to eat the fried chicken,
but it also need to get attention from the housewives since they are making the food in the households.
To summarize the commercial music is played in the background through the whole commercial. The

These two arguments are supposed to give the audience more information so they want to buy the
food. While they talk about how the food is made and seasoned they use an emotional argument, to get
the audience feel that they want to eat the food. ... so whenever you are pressed for time... this line is
also an emotional argument, they want the audience to feel the feeling when they do not got so much
time. And the feeling of in that kind of situations it would be nice with food from Kentucky Fried
Chicken.
I do not think that the commercial objectify anyone. Because objectifying is when you use a person as
an object instead of a person, which is not shown in the commercial. Stereotypes is something that is
used in the commercial. That the housewives got the responsibility for the household to take care of
the house and make the food is a stereotype for women. Another stereotype that you can fins in the
commercial is only white

Transgender Equality In Sports
How does one define gender? Is it in terms of sex or is a distinct term with separate qualities and
qualifications? In the past century, sports have wrestled with these questions on how to qualify and
quantify gender. By addressing these issues, whether intentional or not, the sports world has certainly
broken down some barriers to transgender equality. Nevertheless, there is certainly more work to do to
further progress transgender equality in sports and arguably it is the moral obligation of the sports
world to pursue such equality. Ultimately, transgender people should have the right to pursue
competitive careers that match their gender identity. Before addressing the issue of transgender
equality in sports one must first understand what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The argument centers around the idea that female transgender athletes may have unfair advantages
over their competitors due to their strength or height that is a byproduct of testosterone (Time, 2015).
This proposal has multiple flaws. First, there is the misconception that female transsexual athletes
keep the physical strength of their previously male body, but this claim is not supported by medical
facts (Krane Barak, 2012). Specifically, studies have shown that after one year a transitioning
transsexuals testosterone levels drop to be consistent with those of a cisgender female athlete, their
muscle mass decreases, their body fat redistributed to match their identity, [and] bone density is
decreased (Krane Barak, 2012). Consequently, researchers have concluded that female transsexuals
can compete in sports without having an inherent physiological advantage (Krane Barak, 2012). Now,
some may argue that based on this evidence only transsexual athletes should be allowed to compete,
which brings up my second point: the pervasive idea that male athletes are inherently superior to
female athletes. Not only is such an idea sexist in nature, it is also discriminatory. In general,
transgender males do not tend to face as much opposition to allow them to play competitively (Time,
2015). This difference in

Informative Essay On Curveballs
Have you ever wondered whether or not a curveball is good to throw. I ve played baseball for many

the curveball, the effects on the arm from a curveball, and if curveballs can even help your pitching. If
I would want to throw curveballs some day I should find this out. Are curveballs good to throw? We
need to know about how a curveball actually moves before we can learn about its effects on the arm.
The movement of a curveball is based off of these two theories: the Bernoulli principle and the
Magnus effect. The Bernoulli principle is where a spinning ball creates a slower airspeed over the ball
and a faster airspeed on the bottom. This creates a difference of pressures from top to bottom where
the high pressure on top flows towards the low pressure on the bottom ... Show more content on

if there are any abnormalities with the liver and kidney functions, a chest x ray may be performed to
determine if the heart is enlarged and an Electrocardiogram to see if the patient has ventricle
thickening, abnormal heart rhythm or even a heart attack. Once these tests have been completed the
physician may order a MUGA scan or cardiac catheterization to determine the patient ejection fraction
or EF, but most common practice is to order an echocardiogram, which is less invasive, to determine
the ejection fraction. (Association, American Heart, 2013) Ejection fraction, usually stated as a
percentage, determines how well the heart pumps with each beat. A normal heart will pump a little
more than half the heart s blood volume with each beat. Left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF),
measures the amount of blood pumped out of the left ventricle of the heart with each contraction.
Right ventricular ejection fraction (RVEF), measures the amount of blood pumped out of the right side
of the heart to the lungs for oxygen. A normal EF ranges from 55 77% and will be lower when the
heart muscle has been damaged by cardiomyopathy, heart attack or other disease that have weakened
the heart muscle. An ejection fraction of 40% usually confirms the diagnosis of heart failure and an

Chrysanthemums Essay
Chrysanthemums A good writer has many tools at hand that help them develop good story lines. There
are literary techniques such as voice, point of view, character, theme, and symbolism. One very
interesting technique is that of symbolism. With symbolism the author is able to write a story in which
many of the actions around the main character seem to enhance the way the character develops. The
use of symbolism to develop the characters is easy to see in the short story the chrysanthemums by
John Steinback. In this story Steinback writes of a woman who lives on a farm; but the woman feels
trapped, and wishes that she could free herself. The author uses both the time of year and the location

The air was cold and tender. A light wind blew up from the southwest so that the farmers were mildly
hopeful of a good rain before long; but fog and rain do not go together. (Steinback 267) From this line
much may be derived about Elisa Smith s character. The quiet waiting symbolizes how Elisa is silently
waiting for something to happen. Elisa can not say much about her current situation, she has to calmly
weight for something to happen. This can be seen when her husband jokes about her going to the
fights with her. At the time she says nothing, because it would be absurd for her to go with him.
However, after she grows up at the end of the story she expresses her interest to go with him. The
symbol of the possibly of rain shows how Elisa anticipates that something interesting in her life may
happen, but deep down she knows that there is a very low probability that anything would actually
happen. Elisa s bath is another good symbol that Steinback uses to develop Elisa s character. When
she, scrubbed herself with a little block of pumice. . . until her skin was scratched and red. (Steinback
273) she was scrubbing away the skin that bound her into her conventional role. After this bath she
had the courage to ask henry if they could have wine at the dinner tonight, and that they may possibly

Macbeth Comparative Essay In the play Macbeth by William Shakespeare and the movie Throne of
Blood by Akira Kurosawa, there are two very different narratives. Both specify the same conflict of
Macbeth killing Duncan and him becoming king and having the same characters. The narratives do
have differences relating to the characters on how the stories both play out. In Shakespeare s play
Macbeth the setting takes place in Scotland speaking with their own language. In the movie Throne of
Blood the setting is in Japan were of course Japanese is spoken having a difference from both
narratives. There are many minor differences stories as they both play out yet the plot seems to be

As Shakespeare wrote his plays he always throws in a drama. As for the director of Throne of Blood
he put all the drama in the ending. The reason why he took away the scenes of Macduff s family.
Kurosawa s narrative became a dramatic irony until the violent ending. Kurosawa did not want
Washizu to die at the hands of a grieving father and husband. He decided to end it with Washizu s
soldiers killing him making the movie have a dramatic change. As for Shakespeare his play involved
of a killer being able to kill the father, Banquo, but not the son, Fleance. Both amazing narratives, yet
written differently to end the story of Macbeth s death. As always not everything can be similar from a
story to a movie. A movie will always be written or directed in any way the director writes the scripts
for the actors. Such as plays they are written the way the writers would want the actors to perform
because they would know how the audience will be captivated by the drama. Shakespeare and
Kurosawa had different ways to write both narratives yet both came out in their own unique way. As
for the audience they could enjoy either both. The same conflicts Macbeth had to show in both
narratives was the murder of the king. Later to him becoming a king that he started to kill anyone who
tried to come at his way. When he became arrogant he dies in the end

Who in here has heard of or even know what the term birth control is? According to medicinenet.com,
birth control is the use of any practices, methods, or devices to prevent pregnancy from occuring in
sexually active women. Today, I will be talking about a couple of methods of birth control which
include: the pill, the patch, and the implant. Another method I will be talking to you about isn t always
considered a form of birth control, but it actually is; condoms. My goal today is to not only inform you
of the many birth controls but to also encourage you to look at the pros and the cons of every method
if you are using contraception. Birth control is a very broad topic with many alternatives which can
impact your lifestyle in many ways, therefore you should consider these alternatives before applying
any form of contraceptive into your body and find the method that works best for you.
Not many of us know this, but birth control can be very risky when you don t know much about your
body. What most of us do know are the general benefits which include acne reduction, period
regulation, and easing menstrual cramps. A review on U.S. News World Report on August 7, 2006,
featuring Christine Larson, 31 trials and 12,579 women, looked at the the effect of birth control and
facial acne and found that some oral contraceptives were effective in reducing acne. It was also was
established that 750,000 800,000 teenage women in the U.S. experience pregnancy and that over

The Political Landscape Of South Eastern Asia
Introduction: The political landscape of South Eastern Asia
The politics of South Eastern Asia in respect to the conflicts of India Pakistan Kashmir dispute and the
Korean Peninsula dispute, are really leftover cleavages by greater powers that occupied/supported the
respective regions. Hence like all leftover problems of the ages past, it is complicated by nature.
However as all actors seek to win the favor of great powers once more, the regional power, China is
facing a complicated problem, the problem of having to supporting an ungrateful ally and supporting
an ally that won t win, all involved in conflicts that can t be solved in the foreseeable future. China,
despite having a personal benefit and loss in both, really has no idea what she is doing.
A rivalry of ideology: The conflict between North and South Korea
When we talk about the conflict between North and South Korea, we need to go back to the history of
Korean War in 1950(), which is also a part of the Cold war. During this conflict, there were also some
international power interventions, the United States of America, USSR and PRC were all get involved
to some extend. On June 25, 1950, the troops of Communist Kim II Sung crossed the dividing line and
separate the Korean Peninsula into two separate parts between the South and the North because of
South Korea s constant defiance (). This is also considered as the beginning of the Korean War as well
as pulls the rivalry history of North and South Korea open.

Business Skills For A New Home
The job requirements are straight forward and do not ask for much. Some of the duties consists of
promoting property through ads, open houses and listing services. Advertising is key to attract
potential buyers and spread your business name around. Advising clients on prices of homes, current
market conditions and other market information also come into play. Taking prospective buyers to
view properties and persuading them to consider investing in a new home. As well as bringing
together negotiations between the buyer and seller. These are just a few things that the real estate
business will ask for.
I believe I have all the personal characteristics and skills needed to be a sales agent or broker. I plan to
go to college to learn all the necessary business skills to be successful. Most sales agents and brokers
are self employed. This means they have to maintain a functional business without wasting money and
losing valuable time. Great business skills come in handy when you run everything on your own.
Problems will pop up eventually which will require quick thinking and reaction time. Problem solving
skills aren t going to be frequently used but nevertheless, you can never over prepare for the worst.
Organizations skills can help have your work space clean and keep you on track during the day.
Always being able to have yourself on the ball can lead to more jobs or goals being completed. Lastly,
the income you make depends on your sales which means you need to have

Tom Brennan Social Justice Quotes
The concept of social justice is based of human rights and equality, this is the way people are treated
in everyday life. The text I am currently studying is The story of Tom Brennan and I am seeing how
this has some aspects of social justice like alcohol abuse and property vandalism.
The story of Tom Brennan is a book about a nineteen year old boy named Tom Brennan who has his
life turned upside down because of a car crash that resulted in two deaths and one paralyzed. One
example of social justice in this book is the fact that Daniel was under the influence of alcohol whilst
driving, thus causing the car crash which affected the whole town and making the town angry against
the Brennan family, my second example is the fact that there was alcohol at the rugby after party, but I
personally believe it is one hundred percent ok with alcohol at the party, it just has to be their
responsibility that they have designated drivers to get others home safely. There is also alcohol itself,
that is the main cause of the car accident itself and that too just needs a ... Show more content on

Another example technique J.C.Burke used was symbolism in this quote I Curled myself into a little
ball... let the darkness suck me deeper into its belly This is Tom s struggle of the past unexpected
accident, allowing the past to suck him deeper into his restricted world. The writer also used
connotative metaphor on page 165 by describing toms grans house and Tom s room as the cave . I
believe that a lot of aspects of social justice confirm my views on social justice, as it was only Daniels
fault for the whole thing and Daniel wasn t being responsible as he should have, unlike Tom, who

The Use Of Disguise In Wilkie Collins The Moonstone
As the search for the culprit of the moonstone continues, the story is resumed by Franklin Blake in
Wilkie Collins The Moonstone. Sargent Cuff calls for Mr. Blake and says, Mr. Blake! look at the man
s face. It is a face disguised and here s proof of it! (Collins 447). It is then revealed that It was Godfrey
Ablewhite, disguised as a dark sailor (Collins 448). It seems to be no surprise that it was he, a man
whose mercenary motives slowly revealed, was the culprit of the moonstone. Disguise, as it is used in
this setting, is connected effortlessly to its definition in the Oxford English Dictionary. The Oxford
English Dictionary defines disguise as: To alter the appearance of (anything) so as to mislead or
deceive as to it; to exhibit in a false light; to colour; to misrepresent (OED). Godfrey concealed his
true identity to deceive those around him and did in fact exhibit (himself) in a false light by posing as
a sailor and did also colour himself by posing in blackface. Veil, a synonym of disguise, appears
within the 1755 dictionary of Samuel Johnson and is defined as a cover to conceal the face; a disguise
(Johnson). Through this perspective, a disguise does not always carry a negative connotation, but in
this case, it was used as a means to deceive. Godfrey is not very clever. His intent to pose as a sailor
and direct the attention to the Indians by way of his complexion did not work as he was taller than any
of the Indians and his face was twice the breadth of any of their faces at least (Collins 434). By doing
so he directed the attention to himself. To be in disguise is also to conceal or cloak the real state or
character of (anything) by a counterfeit show or appearance (OED) or to change the guise, or dress
and personal appearance, of (anyone) so as to conceal identity; to conceal the identity of by dressing
as some one or in a particular garb (OED). Godfrey s disguise figuratively and literally concealed (his)
real character. As Sergeant cuff took forcible possession of the dead man s black hair and washed off
his complexion, Godfrey s literal disguise was revealed. Figuratively, he was revealed as a fraud for
having led a double life (Collins 447). He was

The Thought and Influence of Voltaire Essay
The Thought and Influence of Voltaire
I The legacy of François Marie Arouet, or Voltaire is not only a vast collection of writings, but also a
world that has been radically and directly affected by these works and the activities of their author.
While Voltaire did not create many of the ideas he professed, his success at disseminating these is
unparalleled. He summed up with the most panache of anyone of his day the central issues of the
Enlightenment, and rallied with the greatest fervour to see his beliefs tangibly realised.
This paper will focus on Voltaire s stances on vital issues, their weight versus the ideas and practices
against which they are reactions, and their influence on both 18th century Europe and the modern
West. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cosmology Like many of the philosophes, Voltaire was a deist. He believed that, although God was
not one to intervene in earthly affairs, such an entity did exist. The scientific revolution had
demonstrated that the universe operated according to rational mechanics. Therefore, resembling a
machine, it must have an engineer behind it.5[5] While deist theories about space and time are
muddled and confusing for those of us who take modern science for granted (particularly in their
dependence on the concept of God),6[6] their nascent determinism is very familiar in this age where
behaviourism is so popular. Mired in Newtonian causality, Voltaire (echoing John Locke) believed that
action is the effect of which the will is the cause. The cause of the will is the effect of environment.
The environment is part of the clockwork universe made and wound by God.7[7] While this theory
brings environment into the discussion of development of personality, it makes people into passive
receptacles and cogs in machines.8[8]
Voltaire s belief in God was partly pragmatic. He recognised the difficulty of maintaining an ethical
system without rewards and punishments. The Christian tradition had so long used heaven and hell as
motivational factors that it was hard by the 18th century to imagine morality for its own sake. While
just laws would ensure just actions by the general population,

Analysis Of The Screening Pornland By Gail Dines Blurred...
The screening Pornland, produced by Gail Dines, focuses on the pornography industry and how the
visuality of gender and sexuality influences gender construction and the power level between males
and females. The pornography industry constructs males as dominant humans who have no capacity
for love or empathy while females are portrayed as helpless and vulnerable. Moreover, the screening
highlights how sexualised images from pornographic films are slowly becoming a part of popular
culture, especially music videos, television shows and films. For example, the music video of the song
Blurred Lines by Robin Thicke uses a variation of softcore porn, consequently implementing
pornography into normalised culture. The production of pornography is

Battle of the Plains of Abraham Essay example
Sealing the Fate of North America The battle of the Plains of Abraham was fought on the 13th of
September 1759. It was the result of a three month British siege of the French North American capital
of Quebec City. Although the battle lasted for a short period of time, involved comparatively few
troops, and caused few casualties, the effects of the battle were far reaching. The British victory at the
battle resulted both in the death of the French general the Marquis de Montcalm and the British major
general James Wolf. More importantly, the battle resulted in the capture of Quebec, which in turn, led
to the capture of the remaining French territories of North America. In the previous years of French
and Indian war the North ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The battle resulted in 644 French casualties to 658 British dead. Following the battle, the majority of
the French army abandoned Quebec and the defensive works to the East of the City, marching west to
combine with the 3,000 men. Quebec was left under the command of Jean Baptiste Nicolas Roch de
Ramezay who, on the 18th surrendered Quebec to the British. The battle had a huge impact on the war
in North America. The remaining French troops attempted to re take Quebec but were unable due to
lack of siege equipment and reinforcements. French forces retreated to their last Canadian stronghold
Montreal. Montreal, in turn, surrendered on the 8th of September 1760. Following the capture of
Montreal, French resistance had collapse, and there were no more real threats to the new British
territories of North America. In the treaty of Paris, which officially ended the 7 years war in North
America, France ceded the Louisiana territory to Spain to compensate for Spain s losses, and regained
Guadeloupe and Martinique as well as Saint Pierre and Miquelon and fishing rights in the Gulf of the
St. Lawrence. While the Battle of the Plains of Abraham was not particularly large and caused few
deaths on both sides, it was one of the most important battles fought on Canadian soil. The results
were the deaths of the Marquis de Montcalm and general Wolf, as well as the British capture of
Quebec. The capture of the city

1934 Dbq
The effects of the economic market crash of 1929 appeared in how the public sustained severe losses
at the hands of securities traders and corporations. With the unmistakable need to restore financial
specialist trust in the securities market President Roosevelt pushed for a huge securities regulation and
the creation of the Securities Act of 1933 sprouted along with the approval of Congress. Then in a year
later in 1934 Congress observed the need to make modifications to the 1933 Act by establishing an
independent governmental regulatory body the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The SEC
main responsibility came to be to ensure and protect the public against malpractices in the securities
and financial markets. As the years passed businesses and technology advances developed and the
economic market expanded. With the economy market positive rise many companies needed to keep
up and acted upon fraudulent acts in order to stay in the business competition. Companies acted
fraudulent by cooking the books in recording ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Securities Exchange Act of 1934 is primarily concerned is requiring companies to disclosure their
material information to investors. Different from the 1933 Act, which consisted mainly on a onetime
disclosure statute when an issuer sells its shares to investors, the Securities Exchange Act 1934 Act
requires periodic disclosures by issuers that hold a publicly equity securities. The 1934 Act is to
protect investors after the issuer becomes a public company. Issuers with publicly traded equity
securities, Must report annually to its shareholders and submit annual and quarterly reports to the SEC
(Mollar, Barnes, Langvardt, Prenkert, and McCrory, pg. 1206, 2016). Another difference between
these two acts is that under the 1934 Act issuers must register classes of securities, and on the 1933
Act it requires only for the term of an issuance of

Richard Cory, by Edwin Arlington Robinson Essay
The narrator in Richard Cory by Edwin Arlington Robinson is a low class working citizen telling the
reader, in detail, about a distinguished gentleman named Richard Cory who eventually put a bullet
through his head. Almost everyone, including the narrator, would stare at him with awe every time
they saw him. He was imperially slim (4), always charismatic and well dressed. He was extremely
courteous and polite. He would please everyone s heart with a simple Good Morning. Then the
narrator soon explains that on one calm summer night he executes himself by putting a gun to his
head. When I first read the poem, I thought it told the story of a young man and his riches. After about
my third or fourth reading, I realized this poem is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the poem read, he was always human when he talked, I did not quite understand. Soon
afterward, I realized the author meant Richard Cory was not a conceited or arrogant man; he was a
friendly man. I could imagine him being the brightest thing on the street when I comprehended he
glittered when he walked. I realized that Richard Cory was more than just a rich man.
...Yes richer than a king, the third stanza states. At first reading, I thought, This man must have money
growing on trees! Resulting from another reading, I came to the conclusion that maybe the narrator
just couldn t picture someone having so much money and might have exaggerated to show how much
wealthier Richard Cory was than most people. As the people in line 11, I can certainly relate to
thinking that a particular person was everything.
After finishing line 13, I did not entirely understand what was meant by the light. Did it signify
daylight or symbolize a rescuer from the life they were living? The final stanza ended by telling the
reader how Richard Cory went home one night and shot himself in the head. I found it kind of selfish
that Richard Cory a man who could afford to eat at a fancy restaurant

  • 2. Physics Of A Dc Electric Eld In a DC electric field, charged particles moves to an electrode that has anwith opposite polarity. In an AC electric field, charged particles oscillate, and their amplitudes are determined by the amount of the total particle charge. The oscillation amplitude of the charged particle is proportional to the amount of the charge density (q) and the applied voltage (E), and is inversely proportional to the radius of the particle (r), the medium viscosity (η), or the applied frequency (f) [28]. When E, η, r, and f are constant values, the amplitude d of the particle is simply related to the charge density q . In this case, analyzing the amplitude of the oscillating particle under the AC electric field has the same meaning with as evaluating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An AC electric field was applied to a sample containing the fluorescent microspheres, and the oscillation amplitudes of the fluorescent microspheres were observed by using a fluorescent fluorescence microscope (TE2000 U, Nikon). The continuous CCD images were recorded in a computer as a movie file format. After the analysis of the recorded data, the oscillation amplitude d was calculated as the average of one way distances [28]. The amplitudes of the 10 different microspheres were individually measured, and an the average of these amplitudes was used as the amplitude d . 4.3 Preparation of biofunctional microspheres 4.3.1 Preparation of IgG modified and Biotin IgG modified microspheres Two kinds types of microspheres modified with IgG (IgG bead) and biotin labeled IgG (Biotin IgG bead) were prepared as shown in Figure 4 (a). Two kinds types of microsphere, carboxylate modified microspheres and orange fluorescence (540/560), were mixed in a carbonate buffer solution (0.1 M), and the mixture was centrifuged (1000 rpm, 5 min). After repeating the washing step more than twice, a small portion of PBS (10 mM, pH 7.0) was added to the microspheres mixtures of microspheres with the addition of carbodiimide. The reaction mixture was stirred for ˜∼180 min at room temperature. Then, the microspheres were washed twice with a PBS and suspended in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sowpati and his co workers in (2010) investigated the performance of printable antennas with indifferent conductor thickness. This paper presents an antenna which is able to create very competitive overall antenna performance, manufactured by inkjet printing of nano silver ink against Rogers copper foil structures. T.H Liu (2012) presented a spiral antenna that was backed on photonic band gap material. This exhibits a larger front to back radiation level ratio, a broader frequency bandwidth, and higher gain than a traditional spiral antenna. J.Bell and M.Iskander (2004) presented the implementation of electromagnetic band gap structures with an inherently wide band Archimedean spiral antenna. The EBG structure was designed to emulate a perfect magnetic conductor. P.Calvert (2001) presented the inkjet printing for devices and materials with multilayered and uniform prints. Higher resolutions were required for organic transistors which were to be printed. It was also possible to print pinhole free layers to sidestep shortage of devices. Master of International Studies 95.803 Business, the Environment and Social Responsibility Lecturer: Rashid Ameer Discussion paper Confronting the challenges of sewerage management in Island of Barbados Name: Tsoy Evgeniy ID: 2122207 Due Date: Thursday, 14 June, 2012 An exotic and dwelling place of unique phenomenon attracts millions of tourists every year. This is Caribbean, island of Barbados, paradise in the seventh heaven. The idea that the flowery island is under threat of sewage and waste water management beats everyone s imagination. Contamination of coastal water and deterioration of coral reefs have been linked to inadequate disposal of waste water and poor sewerage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Settled sewerage for example, is appropriate for middle income or upper income areas which already have septic tanks, but where the soil can no longer accept all the septic tank effluent ; this system is being used in Australia, United States, Colombia and Nigeria. Simplified sewerage system is most suitable for high density, low income areas ; this method is now used commonly in Brazil and in some countries of Latin America, Pakistan, and Karachi. (Mara, 1996, pp. 249 256) However, these data are too old now, and we cannot rely on already infirm experience. Nowadays we are able to use state of the art technologies and more effective approaches to solve sewage problem. There are two sewage treatments: anaerobic methods and aerobic methods. Anaerobic Treatment is the most appropriate technology for tropical areas like Brazil, India and Columbia . This concept uses specially cultivated bacterium (OS1). Meanwhile, aerobic technologies are designed keeping in mind the conditions of countries with lower temperature. Also aerobic treatment plants are dependent on continuous power supply and are extremely costly. (Organic solutions, para.1). UASB (Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket) for instance, a notion for sewage treatment, was launched in India two decades ago and today has extended over the other developing countries with similar climate. India is one of the leading countries in term of amount sewage volume treated by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Human And Animals In AristophanesDouble-Human Speech Dr. Hayland from Indiana University probes into Aristophanes double human speech to provide valuable insight into Plato s ideas on human origins. He believes that it is plausible that Plato believed that humans are merely animals who replaced an irrational desire for power with logos. In order to prove his thesis, Dr. Hayland first introduces Aristophanes speech and thoroughly investigates what caused us to fall to our present state of being humans (Hyland 194). Next, he explores the humanizing character through further reading of Aristophanes speech, specifically looking at our aspiration for success. Lastly, Hayland explores the difference between human and animals by analyzing Diotima s speech. By comparing these two speeches, Hayland believes he will be able to explain Plato s beliefs on the origins of mankind. Hayland s first argument is that animals in Aristophane s speech had great thoughts from desire without any reason. In the beginning of the article, Hayland identifies a quote from Aristophanes which says that our double human ancestors were powerful but neither good nor pious nor yet characterized by eros (195). He explains that this awesome power threatened the gods well being, so Zeus split the animals and recruited Apollo to pull our skin around in the front... that will remind us of our former condition and so cause us to be humble (196). Since being humble requires a rational sense of belonging, Hayland believes that reason did not control the animals before us. He emphasizes a quote saying that when double females come together, they were at least... satiated, and [stopped], and [returned] to their work and the other cares of life (Hayland 196, references Symposium 191c). He suggests that newly split animals became mindful and cautious of their actions. Hayland emphasizes the calm and mild behavior to highlight that animals were controlled by irrational desire before the split. Hayland s second argument is that erotics characterizes humans. He analyzes Aristophanes reference to love after the split, which states our natural love for one another developed in human beings, collecting the halves of our original nature, trying to make one out of two parts, so as ... • 10. Evaluation Essay On Shrek Recently, I gave my S.H.I.E.L.D Speech for my Oral Com class, and there were many things I did to prepare. First, I had to decide what my idea was going to be. I picked Shrek as my shield because he is awesome and I could tie him into my life without it being too much of a stretch. After I had chosen my topic, I devised a design for my shield. The final shield design was a giant Shrek face with smaller faces of the characters Donkey and the Big Bad Wolf to go alongside Shrek. Then, I began writing my outline. I chose my main points (weirdness, friends, and theatre) because they related to Shrek. Once I had completed my outline, I practiced with it several times twice in class and twice outside of class. It was during my practice outside of class that I realized that I did not have enough information to give a speech that would last over four minutes just from my outline. In response to this, I typed exactly what I was going to say, word for word, and attempted to memorize it, but that didn t go as planned. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I made some jokes, and the audience laughed at most of them, which was a good feeling. But because I failed to fully memorize the speech, there were times that I was left trying to figure out the exact phrasing, which took away from the performance slightly, even though I don t believe it was that big of a deal. Inorganic growth is a system of expanding the company by means of joining together with other companies to form what one may call a conglomerate. Inorganic growth involves mergers and take overs. A merger occurs when two firms come together or join together in order to share resources of the two organisations. No one deserves to be hurt physically, mentally, or emotionally in life. Whether it s good or bad, life is going to happen. In the stories, Leslie in California, written by Andre Dubus, and The Story of an Hour, written by Kate Chopin, the characters in the stories are alike in some ways. • 15. The Case Of Medieval Mystic Christina Of Mirabilis Life or death: what does one choose? Most people would agree to remain alive without much hesitation. In the case of Medieval Mystic Christina of Mirabilis, Christina also makes the hasty decision to continue living on Earth hoping to appease God even though her decision ultimately leads Christina to push her body to terrifying limits. In Elizabeth Alvilda Petroff s anthology titled Medieval Women s Visionary Literature, Thomas de Cantimpré s The Life of Christina of St. Trond, Called Christina Mirabilis depicts Christina s miraculous resurrection from the dead during her funeral procession at church. Before returning to her body on Earth, Christina is given the ultimate choice of her fate. De Cantimpre describes, either [Christina] [will] remain with [God] now, or return to [her] body and suffer the punishments of an immortal soul in a mortal body which, however, will remain unharmed. Thus by the pains [she] will suffer, [she] will deliver all those souls in purgatory whom [she] pitied (184 185). Striving to please God, Christina fully agrees to his terrifying terms of physically suffering on Earth so male sinners in hell may be forgiven. God s terms for Christina Mirabilis to be able to continue living on Earth as a human after she is resurrected come across as highly discriminatory for the way Christina must take on the sufferings of male sinners even though she does not commit these sins herself, learn to endure her gift of mystical smells, which intensities and ... • 16. National Health System ( Nhs ) Essay National Health System (NHS) England (1800words) The National Health System began in 1948 with the aim to provide free health care for the English thus removing health access inequities. This essay considers two strengths of the NHS, being free health and locally responsive health care and two weaknesses being the financial burden and unprecedented pressure on health care resources. One of the strengths of the NHS England is residents receive free fully funded medical care that includes all medical treatment, screenings including antenatal, dental, prescriptions, specialist referrals and optometrists (NHS England, 2016). Furthermore, while being free at point of access, the NHS system is an efficient, effective, care, safe, coordinated and patient centred system that was ranked number two worldwide on equity (NHS England, 2016). Free healthcare supports Ham s (2010) claim that being free at point of entry is a characteristic of a high performing health care system. The benefits of free healthcare were that everyone was able to get the same medical treatment. The delivery of health care through Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCG s) is another strength. CCG s were created in 2012 following the passing of the Health and Social Care Act, to replace primary care trusts in 2013(NHS England, 2013). Their strength lies in their authority and purpose to provide health care that is responsive to a geographical area and set patient number. They are clinically led, often by local ... • 17. Supply Curve Is The Cost Of Production Supply Supply is the quantity of a product that producers want to sell at a specific price. The number one supply determinant for a company is the cost of production. The three other main determinants of supply are; improvements in technology, number of sellers, and the forecasted market expectations on future pricing. There are many other factors that may also lead to a change in supply; more favorable seasonal conditions, a fall in the cost of other goods resulting in less profit to produce them, and resources being shifted to the production of the good in question when it is more profitable. Supply Curve Supply curves are usually indicated an upward sloping curve. The slope of the supply curve shows that as the price goes up, producers are willing to produce more goods. When prices rise based on an increased demand for an item, companies will find it more profitable to increase the quantity supplied of the item, the supply curve will slope upward from left to right. When a price changes, the quantity supplied will change with it. The movement along the same supply curve. When there are factors other than price changes, the supply curve will shift. If the demand for an item falls, it only makes sense for a company to decrease their supply to minimize their loss. Obviously, a company would rather sell at a higher price than at a lower price to maximize profit. The book mentioned how no one is born a hater. It s your attitude and surrounding that makes you believe you are a hater of a certain group of people. As an educational leader, these chapters show how important it is to show love and compassion to all. Also to have an understanding and appreciation of all ways of life. The students or parents should not know your religious beliefs or how you think politically. As an educator you must educate all on both sides allowing them to think for themselves. Not everyone thinks the same way or has the same morals. Although I can display some of my values as just as love and respect, I am unable to express my opinion on some topics within the school. Often times it is hard to remember. For example, a teacher might have to teach evolution when they believe in creation. One would have to stay neutral and teach and understand both creation and evolution in order for the students to be well rounded and exposed to every aspect. I find that to be the biggest struggle for myself as an educator. 3. How have schools used labels to define and control minority groups? • 24. Medical Ethics Of The Doctor Patient Relationship You may not control life s circumstances, but getting to be the author of your life means getting to control what you do with them (Atul Gawande). This quote, from renowned surgeon and essayist, Atul Gawande, expresses an important idea in medical ethics: patients possess a certain level of autonomy in the doctor patient relationship, and this autonomy needs to be respected by medical professionals. Ethically speaking, physicians owe their patients full disclosure about their diagnoses, treatment options, and any potential medical risks. Patients have the inherent right to know all aspects of their illness or malady, and it is not up to physicians to decide which information should be withheld from patients. Withholding information from patients breaks down any trust that may have existed within the physician patient relationship, and thus leads to an overall patient dissatisfaction towards the healthcare system. In any patient physician relationship, one of the most essential components is the element of trust. One patient remarks on the importance of trust by saying, We trust them not to use that expertise to exploit our vulnerability for their own interests...and we trust them to empower and enable us to place their recommendations into the full context of our own hierarchy of values (Pellegrino, Thomasma 1993). However, active euthanasia (assisting patients die) is never morally permissible because it s like killing the patient instead of letting the patient die naturally. Active euthanasia, is taking a direct action to kill a patient and on the other hand, passive euthanasia, is withholding treatments to let the patient die (letting die). Rachels (1975) disagrees with the American Medical Association because he supports active euthanasia contrary to the position of this body. According to Rachels, active euthanasia reduces the pain of the patients who would otherwise die even without the injection. In other words, there are no significant differences between letting a person die and killing a person, who will still perish in the end. Rachels refutes the claim of the American Medical Association that does not support intentional termination of the life of the patient or what is referred to as mercy killing. In her view, doctors only uphold their legal mandate by not engaging in the mercy killing and ignoring their moral duty to ensure the patient die without pain. The doctors only seek to avoid legal responsibility by letting the patient die instead of killing the patient. Alternatively, passive euthanasia allows the patient to die naturally while the active one requires the doctor to take action to terminate the life of the patient. This proposal has multiple flaws. First, there is the misconception that female transsexual athletes keep the physical strength of their previously male body, but this claim is not supported by medical facts (Krane Barak, 2012). Specifically, studies have shown that after one year a transitioning transsexuals testosterone levels drop to be consistent with those of a cisgender female athlete, their muscle mass decreases, their body fat redistributed to match their identity, [and] bone density is decreased (Krane Barak, 2012). Consequently, researchers have concluded that female transsexuals can compete in sports without having an inherent physiological advantage (Krane Barak, 2012). • 35. Chrysanthemums Essay Chrysanthemums A good writer has many tools at hand that help them develop good story lines. There are literary techniques such as voice, point of view, character, theme, and symbolism. One very interesting technique is that of symbolism. With symbolism the author is able to write a story in which many of the actions around the main character seem to enhance the way the character develops. The use of symbolism to develop the characters is easy to see in the short story the chrysanthemums by John Steinback. In this story Steinback writes of a woman who lives on a farm; but the woman feels trapped, and wishes that she could free herself. The author uses both the time of year and the location to develop a setting that compliments ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The air was cold and tender. A light wind blew up from the southwest so that the farmers were mildly hopeful of a good rain before long; but fog and rain do not go together. (Steinback 267) From this line much may be derived about Elisa Smith s character. The quiet waiting symbolizes how Elisa is silently waiting for something to happen. Elisa can not say much about her current situation, she has to calmly weight for something to happen. This can be seen when her husband jokes about her going to the fights with her. At the time she says nothing, because it would be absurd for her to go with him. However, after she grows up at the end of the story she expresses her interest to go with him. The symbol of the possibly of rain shows how Elisa anticipates that something interesting in her life may happen, but deep down she knows that there is a very low probability that anything would actually happen. Elisa s bath is another good symbol that Steinback uses to develop Elisa s character. When she, scrubbed herself with a little block of pumice. . . until her skin was scratched and red. (Steinback 273) she was scrubbing away the skin that bound her into her conventional role. After this bath she had the courage to ask henry if they could have wine at the dinner tonight, and that they may possibly go to the fights together. After her bath she realized how strong she ... Comparing Macbeth And Throne Of Blood Celeste Martinez Mr. Ortiz English 12 27 February 2017 Macbeth Comparative Essay In the play Macbeth by William Shakespeare and the movie Throne of Blood by Akira Kurosawa, there are two very different narratives. Both specify the same conflict of Macbeth killing Duncan and him becoming king and having the same characters. The narratives do have differences relating to the characters on how the stories both play out. In Shakespeare s play Macbeth the setting takes place in Scotland speaking with their own language. As Shakespeare wrote his plays he always throws in a drama. As for the director of Throne of Blood he put all the drama in the ending. The reason why he took away the scenes of Macduff s family. Kurosawa s narrative became a dramatic irony until the violent ending. Kurosawa did not want Washizu to die at the hands of a grieving father and husband. He decided to end it with Washizu s soldiers killing him making the movie have a dramatic change. As for Shakespeare his play involved of a killer being able to kill the father, Banquo, but not the son, Fleance. Both amazing narratives, yet written differently to end the story of Macbeth s death. As always not everything can be similar from a story to a movie. A movie will always be written or directed in any way the director writes the scripts for the actors. Such as plays they are written the way the writers would want the actors to perform because they would know how the audience will be captivated by the drama. Shakespeare and Kurosawa had different ways to write both narratives yet both came out in their own unique way. As for the audience they could enjoy either both. The story of Tom Brennan is a book about a nineteen year old boy named Tom Brennan who has his life turned upside down because of a car crash that resulted in two deaths and one paralyzed. One example of social justice in this book is the fact that Daniel was under the influence of alcohol whilst driving, thus causing the car crash which affected the whole town and making the town angry against the Brennan family, my second example is the fact that there was alcohol at the rugby after party, but I personally believe it is one hundred percent ok with alcohol at the party, it just has to be their responsibility that they have designated drivers to get others home safely. • 45. The Use Of Disguise In Wilkie Collins The Moonstone As the search for the culprit of the moonstone continues, the story is resumed by Franklin Blake in Wilkie Collins The Moonstone. Sargent Cuff calls for Mr. Blake and says, Mr. Blake! look at the man s face. It is a face disguised and here s proof of it! (Collins 447). It is then revealed that It was Godfrey Ablewhite, disguised as a dark sailor (Collins 448). It seems to be no surprise that it was he, a man whose mercenary motives slowly revealed, was the culprit of the moonstone. Disguise, as it is used in this setting, is connected effortlessly to its definition in the Oxford English Dictionary. The Oxford English Dictionary defines disguise as: To alter the appearance of (anything) so as to mislead or deceive as to it; to exhibit in a false light; to colour; to misrepresent (OED). Godfrey concealed his true identity to deceive those around him and did in fact exhibit (himself) in a false light by posing as a sailor and did also colour himself by posing in blackface. Veil, a synonym of disguise, appears within the 1755 dictionary of Samuel Johnson and is defined as a cover to conceal the face; a disguise (Johnson). Through this perspective, a disguise does not always carry a negative connotation, but in this case, it was used as a means to deceive. Godfrey is not very clever. His intent to pose as a sailor and direct the attention to the Indians by way of his complexion did not work as he was taller than any of the Indians and his face was twice the breadth of any of their faces at least (Collins 434). By doing so he directed the attention to himself. To be in disguise is also to conceal or cloak the real state or character of (anything) by a counterfeit show or appearance (OED) or to change the guise, or dress and personal appearance, of (anyone) so as to conceal identity; to conceal the identity of by dressing as some one or in a particular garb (OED). Godfrey s disguise figuratively and literally concealed (his) real character. As Sergeant cuff took forcible possession of the dead man s black hair and washed off his complexion, Godfrey s literal disguise was revealed. He summed up with the most panache of anyone of his day the central issues of the Enlightenment, and rallied with the greatest fervour to see his beliefs tangibly realised. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cosmology Like many of the philosophes, Voltaire was a deist. He believed that, although God was not one to intervene in earthly affairs, such an entity did exist. The scientific revolution had demonstrated that the universe operated according to rational mechanics. Therefore, resembling a machine, it must have an engineer behind it.5[5] While deist theories about space and time are muddled and confusing for those of us who take modern science for granted (particularly in their dependence on the concept of God),6[6] their nascent determinism is very familiar in this age where behaviourism is so popular. Mired in Newtonian causality, Voltaire (echoing John Locke) believed that action is the effect of which the will is the cause. The cause of the will is the effect of environment. The environment is part of the clockwork universe made and wound by God.7[7] While this theory brings environment into the discussion of development of personality, it makes people into passive receptacles and cogs in machines.8[8] Voltaire s belief in God was partly pragmatic. He recognised the difficulty of maintaining an ethical system without rewards and punishments. The Christian tradition had so long used heaven and hell as motivational factors that it was hard by the 18th century to imagine morality for its own sake.
